Well it looks like Obama has more talent than we knew. He can multitask! Not only does he find time in his busy, busy day to trash talk uppity women into submission by calling them pigs and smelly fish (what is this? gammar school??), he ALSO finds the time to threaten the political careers of distinguished women Congresswomen who stood by Hillary and stand up for their voters. Sheila Jackson Lee, a true Hillary ally in Texas, is facing a Democratic challenger who is well-funded and supported by Obama and the DONC. Heidi Li fills us in on the details HERE. 

Remember back on June 7th when we said, “Thank You Hilary Clinton, We’ll Take It From Here”? (reread it if you ever find your inspiration or determination flagging) Well, that’s what we’ve been doing ever since, and helping Sheila Jackson Lee is now OUR job.

Our goal today is to raise $5,000 for Sheila Jackson Lee. Let’s send the message LOUD AND CLEAR to Obama and the DONC: Pumas are EVERYWHERE. We watch out for our own. Don’t mess with us in Texas.

Puma PAC will start things off with a pledge of $1,000. No contribution is too small. If 400 of us donate just $10 each, then we’ll reach our goal before noon.

There appears to be an all out effort on to oust representatives that supported Hillary from their congressional seats. Sheila is one of them. 

 

Big money players are supporting Sheila’s opponent and really putting the heat on. The “politics of personal destruction” is their game. The smear campaign is in full swing.

 

Sheila stood with Hillary though her entire primary run and received threats, intimidation and namecalling just for supporting her. This kind of behavior can not be rewarded! Please come to her defense by attending this Houston fundraiser.

We have a full press release and Schedule of Activities being released today of ALL of our activities and locations in Denver. I will post it here just as soon as it is ready.

Two quick notes: Please read these two articles today and plan to take action. One is by Riverdaughter, the other by Heidi Li. (Oh, and while you’re at it — read Anglachel. She’s like vitamins — must take every day.) Both explain why it is that we cannot afford to rest on our laurels and assume that the Obama Movement and the DONC will follow the rules in Denver. We must continue to contact super delegates and delegates. Please use the lobbydelegates site as well as your own knowledege of Super Delegates in your state to make sure they get the message: A SYMBOLIC SHOW IS NOT ENOUGH. SENATOR CLINTON’S DELEGATES MUST BE ALLOWED TO PLACE REAL VOTES THAT COUNT DURING THE ROLL CALL.

Second, our weekend Fundraising ROAR! was a Smashing Success! Our goal was to raise $10,000 over the weekend. Well, we reached and exceeded that goal by a long way. I finally was able to tally the account this morning and guess what? We didn’t raise $10,000 dollars,

Congratulations Puma PAC, and THANK YOU! We now head to Denver with as many Puma PAC members as we can help to get there, knowing that we have sufficient funds to make sure our presence is organized, effective, and LOUD! Now we focus on MAKING HISTORY, our number one goal all along.

We did it — we exceeded our goal of $10,000 dollars raised this weekend — by several thousand dollars! I will have an exact amount to report in the morning. Until then, I hereby decree this thread a money-free zone. We have a great PROWL planned for tomorrow and lots of final details to report. Our press release and final schedule will be available here tomorrow as well.

It is truly amazing to watch the work of so many talented and committed people coming together these past days to make something historic happen for all of us. Let’s not kid ourselves — 2 months ago, we were nobodies — just individual people around the country who were very unhappy and confused by what happened in the Democratic Party this year. We didn’t know what to do or where to turn. But in a few short weeks we have completely turned that around. TODAY, we have a mission, a movement, and a community. We are Puma PAC, People United Means Action, and as the Voice of the Voters, we WILL be heard!

As Paddy O’Bloggin would say, “Sláinte agus táinte!”

Nine more days Puma PAC. Let’s make them count. The press release and final details for everything Puma in Denver will be released on Monday. Between now and then we are pulling out all the stops on fundraising. After tomorrow night at midnight there will be no more fundraising at Puma PAC until well after the Convention.

No matter what happens in Denver, Puma PAC will be here on August 29th, with a plan, and ready to move forward effectively and united. (I wish I could tell you right now what the plan is, but we know there are unfriendly eyes watching, and we don’t want to give it away yet, do we? )

The Puma PAC ROAR! Fundraising Challenge for today is

Here are some of the things we will be using the funds for: 

• Shuttle vans to get Pumas back and forth across Denver
• Cases of water for thirsty Pumas
• Walkie-talkies for coordinators to keep Pumas connected and safe
• A case of plastic Puma whistles to hand out to Pumas
• 1,000 Orange Puma balloons with our logo for the Headquarters and the Beautiful Protest and Rise on August 25th
• Banners and signs for Pumas to carry
• Markers, staplers, posterboard, strapping, cups, plates, napkins
• Tables, chairs, extension cords, power strips
• Cases of snacks for hungry Pumas
• Full Color Puma PAC Posters and Flyers to plaster around Denver all week
• And much more!
