August 16th, 2008 — Kittens!, Puma PAC

Fingers crossed that the intertubes get the caffeine injection they so sorely need. Until then Puma PAC, relax deep into the arms of Morpheus — for sweet sleep, “sleep which knits the raveled sleeve of care.”
Be wonderful to each other. Tomorrow is another day!
(thanks to goandersen for the zonked out kitten.)
July 10th, 2008 — Celebrate!, Join us!, Kittens!, PUMA

Way to go Puma PAC! On Wednesday, July 10th we sent more than 35,000 letters to Undecided and pledged Clinton delegates in the Great State of Texas, thanking them for their support of the most capable and vote-winning candidate in United States primary history, and URGING them to INSIST that Hillary Clinton be nominated in the first roll call vote. We also reminded them that she will be the first woman in U.S. history to be nominated for president by a national party, but ONLY with their help.
35,000 letters in less than 8 hours. Let that sink in for a moment. Then enjoy a sip of champagne.
Now, listen to this. ADDITIONALLY, From 3:00 to 3:30pm today, eastern time, the members of Puma PAC made so many phone calls to the DNC Headquarters that we shut down their switchboard repeatedly for half an hour!
I say it’s time to bring a chilled bottle of champagne and a couple of fluted glasses out to the deck or the porch this evening and KICK BACK. Way to go Puma PAC!

July 6th, 2008 — Celebrate!, Denver, Join us!, Kittens!, PUMA, ROAR!

Chillax, Puma PAC and head out to the deck for some ribs and cold beer. We have a BIG week ahead. Be ready to send letters, faxes, and phone calls; to make plans for Denver; and to learn about an AMAZING opportunity we are planning for Puma PAC. This is a friendly and chatty open thread, but feel free to continue discussions from downstairs. Still looking for NYC/NJ Pumas to email me at murphy@pumapac.org. Drop me a line with NYC in the subject line — this is NOT about Denver, but something else.
The good vibes are flowing, folks. Things are pulling together, we’ve stayed united and focused for more than 30 long, consecutive days! This is only the beginning, and it feels like the BEST is ahead of us!
The beer and ribs are free, but don’t forget to drop a few bucks in the Buses to Denver Fund to help defray the cost for Puma PAC members to get there!

Sweet dreams Pumas. Be wonderful to each other.
June 27th, 2008 — Celebrate!, DNC, Join us!, Kittens!, PUMA, Unity?

Today was a thrilling day. At least 140 Pumas joined Mawm and GaryChapelHill in “Unity” New Hampshire to show the world that the Democratic Party is a House Divided. The media narrative is changing. The reporters are realizing that there is a there there with the Puma story. We’re not merely a hot-flash-in-the-pan hissy fit movement that will subside after being ridiculed for a news cycle or two.
The Puma movement and Puma PAC is now bigger than either Hillary Clinton OR Barack Obama. This is about our party; about what it means to be an American who cares about good public schools, safe streets, strong unions, access to college for every American kid, women’s rights, social security, fair housing, environmental stewardship, gay and lesbian rights, a fair shake for immigrants, universal health care, and a shared sense of responsibility for how America conducts herself here and around the world. This is about what it means to be a Democrat. Every Democrat who cares about all of these things, for whom government matters every single day, should be a member of Puma PAC.

IF YOU REMEMBER THE VALUES THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY USED TO REPRESENT, AND IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM STILL, YOU SHOULD BE A MEMBER OF PUMA PAC.
Our job is to become a PAC of millions of Americans who will remind our Democratic politicians, during every election and throughout the year, that THEY MUST REDEDICATE THEMSELVES TO THE FOUNDING PRINCIPLES AND VALUES OF OUR PARTY. Those being: free and fair elections, personal freedom, equal protection and equal rights, inclusionary policies, a strong middle class, care for the elderly, help for the working class and poor, safe streets, good schools, strong and compassionate foreign policy, and universal health care.
Tell five friends and family members about Puma PAC.

Here’s to a great start to a week to remember! An excellent Monday ACTION DAY thanks to Shorttermer and Marylandpuma, and everyone who sent in those FLIP-FLOPS! Keep it going tomorrow, because as you know — Tomorrow is another day!
Remember to visit the ACTION CENTER and use Trish’s amazing new database tool to find and research ALL the elected officials in the USA. Every time I click on the ACTION CENTER link I find that PA4HILL08 has made it even better! Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the birth of a movement!
Mother-cub overnight cats tonight to remind us of where we came from. We are a movement comprising millions. From influential bloggers like Riverdaughter and Lambert, to activists Will Bower and Diane at JustSayNoDeal, to voters like Utahpuma, Sandipuma, DaddysDarlin, and Jeremy. And all of us.
This isn’t about any one of us. It is about how all of us — united by our common love of our country, our party, and the principles of democracy — can reshape the landscape of our common civil life so that it once again feels like home to ALL of us. That is what the Democratic party is supposed to stand for. Until our party once again stands for that vision of unity and inclusion, WE will stand for it.

June 22nd, 2008 — Kittens!, PUMA

Let’s have a peaceful night. Riverdaughter reminds us that anger, though necessary and inevitable, must be harnessed and directed thoughtfully in order to prevent it from becoming destructive. We especially need to avoid the sometimes self-destructive outcomes born of anger and frustration. Yes, we are angry and we have cause to be. Yes, we are right and the DNC, the media, and the Obama Movement are wrong. But we have many days and nights and weeks of work ahead of us. Let’s not allow our impatience and frustration with a broken system, an indifferent and dismissive leadership, and an antagonistic media to force us down — down into discouragement, down into despair, or down into distrust of each other. We really are all in this TOGETHER, or all outside alone.
Be wonderful to each other.
