Wise words. To be punked once is unfortunate, to be punked TWICE (in one week even!) shows a lack of judgment. That’s me right now. I’m both embarrassed and ashamed for assuming the veracity of a story that was both explosive and almost immediately questionable. I should know better.
I am sorry to all of my readers who HAVE been victims of violence in any form. Jumping on the bandwagon like I did, with little regard for the trauma it might revive in the minds and hearts of those who really HAVE BEEN HURT was very unkind and irresponsible and insensitive.
I am also sorry to every black man who has been hurt, shamed, and diminished by this unconscionable lie. To fabricate the story of an attack is an assault by a shameless person on the compassion and good faith of everyone. To make up a story like that using the most inflammatory and racist stereotypes in our cultural skeleton closet is beyond the pale. Big scary black man (with very dark skin, natch) attacks small, defenseless, young white woman. Ugh. Who cares about my personal experience, right? But for the record, I have never in ALL MY LIFE met this “big scary black dude” who everyone claims is all over the place. All the black men I’ve ever met have been friendly, funny, indifferent, compassionate, or sad. Maybe I need to get out more, but that’s my reality.
It almost makes me want to vote for Barack Obama. Seriously. If only to say that I will never defend the actions of Ashley Todd. She does not speak for me or for any decent person.
I’m not going to do it, because my beef with Obama goes way back. Way back before this week to the primaries, the caucuses, the lies, and the fraud.
But gosh darn you Ashley Todd, you just made my job a whole lot harder. Go take a very long walk off a very short pier.
But before you do, let me thank you for reminding me why I’ve always been wary of College Republicans. Another wise person has said, “If you’re not a Democrat when you’re young then you have no soul. And if you’re not a Republican when you grow up then you have no brain.”
Silly? yes. I feel just great about being a Democrat headed into middle age, BUT the first part of that statement is absolutely true. And Ashley Todd is Exhibit A.

- Barack Obama is NOT a socialist. I mean come on! A 36% top interest rate = Unfettered Capitalism but a 39% top interest rate = Godless Socialism? Context is everything. Also, why the hell would the employees of all the financial companies have donated more money to Barack Obama than they have to any other candidate in the history of corporate people buying elections if they thought he was a socialist? Why would the current chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank, a former CEO of Goldman Freakin Sachs, have endorsed the guy if he believed he was a socialist?
- Barack Obama is not a terrorist and he is not a Muslim. He is a shameless opportunist who saw that the path of least resistance for his ambitious rise to political power lay through the heart of Chicago. That meant Wright, Ayers, Rezko, Farrakhan, Jackson, and Daley. I find that path troubling. I believe he underestimates the pernicious and aggressive intent of fundamentalist Islam and WOULD make grave errors in his approach to the Middle East. However, that doesn’t make him a Muslim and it doesn’t make him a terrorist. It makes him a Typical Power Grabbing Politician.

Hi Murphy, what is taking place is an amalgamation of ideologies. The financial crisis, the nationalization of our capital markets, and now they are talking about nationalizing our 401K’s. It will all be sorted out eventually, but it may be too late for America, adn we will read about it in banned books. And yes, we are on the road to a marxist state. Obama in his own words wants to level the playing field and “spread the wealth around”. That means taking from someone and giving it to someone else. That IS socialism. You and I have never met so please don’t take this post as me telling you how you should feel, but there is the possibility (and it’s in print) that this Ashley Todd has some psychiatric problems. If she was a volunteer and heard the types of things jenni4hill has heard, it may have triggered something in her. I’m not saying that’s an excuse for what she did. What she did is wrong. Just don’t blame yourself.
I read the article on the attack and it said “Todd also told police she believes she cut the backward “B” onto her own cheek, but did not provide an explanation of how or why, Bryant said.” She believe she cut herself, as in she can’t remember? And why backward? Strange story.
Oh I think we were all concerned that some one got hurt and now to fined out she lied just sucks but it is not as if we lied.

Not sure if I missed a reply on this… but downstairs I had asked if I’m remembering correctly or not that the exit polls on the primaries were heavily pro-Bo.. more so than the actual polls really were. Is that correct? IF SO, then perhaps the statement I’ve heard that the average of the early voting in all states is showing a +2% for Obama might be equivalent to the primary exit polls, and might REALLY mean that Mac is up? Any comments on this?

I agree with almost of all you had to say (except for the part about young rebublicans drinking human blood).
Assshley Todd finally admitted the whole report was a hoax, and then became indignant and blamed the media for blowing it out of proportion?????
She has done incalculable damage to victims of abuse and future victims of abuse. And to dredge up an old racial stereotype as the perpetrator is beyond loathesome.
I hope they throw the book at her. And perhaps while she sits in jail she’ll have some time to reflect on just what she has done.
She certainly did not help McCain. To the contrary, she did more to engender support for Obama than anything else.
It will probably turn out that her motives were not political. The incident conjured up as a way of getting some attention, with the political stuff thrown in after the fact (she did not tell police initially about the political angle). But her motives don’t really matter in the greater scheme of things. Incidents like this make it harder for genuine victims to be taken seriously. Make victims more reluctant to report incidents in the first place. And make it easier for perpetrators to turn the tables on the victim.
With just about 10 days left, we need to avoid the distractions like this incident and focus on the substantive issues for the case against Obama, which are many.
The API story should not exist in our minds – if it turns out that the tapes are eventually released, verified by an expert that they are authentic and have not been tampered with, and confirmed through analysis that the caller was in fact Michelle Obama – great. But that’s a lot of “if’s” to get through with little time left.
I also think the Berg case falls into that category. Berg has to get past a motion to dismiss. Then he has to conduct discovery. Then he has to analyze that discovery. Suffice it to say that he will not get a chance to conduct discovery before November 4. So, for out purposes, Berg does not exist.
Let others grasp for the straws. We have more than enough to work with.

Sorry guys. I am going to have to leave this blog. I have decided to vote for Barack Obama. I had serious issues with him taking a primary victory from HRC. Now I realize that the choice is between Obama and McCain, not about HRC who decided to support Obama. The reason for my change is because McCain’s Pennsylania campaign director got ahead of police and delivered talking points to the media claiming that the woman was attacked because she supported McCain before the police had fully investigated this incident. The McCain campaign should be ashamed of themselves for race-baiting and using old Jim Crow era tactics to try to sway a swing state. This crosses too many lines for me. Obama may not be as good of a candidate as HRC would have been, but at least his platform is consistent with her beliefs. I respect anyone’s decision to stay here and vote McCain, but I cannot.

People do crazy shit for crazy reasons or no reason at all. This was reported in credible news sources as an act of violence on this young woman.
It appears she may have some issues that need to be addressed.
Remember the run away bride? She was having some real issues and I thought the authorities went a little too far on that one. Prosecuting a grown woman for making up a big story so she didn’t have to get married. But she handled what ever issues she had very immaturely.
Ashley Todd obviously has issues if she is willing to mar her face like that. I think she probably did it for attention or a cry for help, not to discredit John McCain or try to label black men as scary and violent. Sometimes sensitivity to these issues can impart a motive that is not necessarily true. She seems to me to be in mental distress to me.

To answer one of your questions, the financial institutions have been democratic, why do you think the Muslims hate the Jews in the US? They control the financial institutions. Isn’t that what they state?
Obama was a member of a socialist party, The New Party. He states in a 1995 video that he basically wants to spread the wealth as he did to Joe.
There is more to Obama’s tax plan than just the 3% tax on people making over $250,000. He also wants to tax them for Social Security at 12% as stated on the O’Rielly Factor a couple of months ago. This would be over 50% tax on people making over $250,000 a year. He wants to tax oil and natural gas to get us off of it quicker. He wants to nearly double the capital gains tax, inheritant tax, etc. There are more taxes, I just can’t think of them now.

Of course if this assault story was true, I would have thought it was an absolutely horrible crime. Yesterday I questioned the validity because the trauma that she suffered didn’t look believable to me and I have worked in a trauma hospital for 12 years and have seen plenty of assaults.
Yesterday when I questioned the possible truthfulness of this story, many were outraged and repeated told me to f**K off. I felt like the worst person in this world and was so depressed. I have never spoken to anyone with this tone and never plan on doing so. It is so hurtful. I apologized for offending so many and I still am sorry that maybe I didn’t make my comment as clear as it could of been, but the tone that people took was very disrespectful.

We don’t know this woman was a republican, she lied about part of the story, why should we believe any of her story? …she could have even been a BO supporter trying to get sympathy votes, she could just be an individual wanting attention. Who knows? But to say you’d be willing to vote for BO after all we’ve been through is tough to take. The main thing is neither McCain, nor republicans, nor Obama, nor democrats condone the actions of this woman, so it should have no bearing or reflection on this election whatsoever (except maybe that the election is making all of us oversensitive and a little crazy). Just say, “sorry I missed it on this one” and move on. The only thing that makes you is human. The goal has not changed. As to the “victim” it was said here previously, we are trusting good people, and we had a photograph, who looks at something like that and thinks suspiciously about the victim? It is an aberration of unimaginable magnitude for someone to bruise and maim their self, so we all can be forgiven for not going there. Human nature is a twisty thing, and the range of human nature is infinite. But back to us, our kind natures and need to help others in need ~ (this is why we are centrist to left in ideology) most of us here would not imagine such a manipulative and sick thing, unless of course we worked with troubled young women who do exhibit such behaviors regularly. I have a close friend who does, and I know her first reaction, though I have not spoken with her this week, would have been to look very closely at the known facts and the “victim”, because she works with these girls who cannot live with their families or in the community because of their extremely self-destructive and manipulative behavior.
They are sent to group living situations which are staffed with experts in these types of mental illness, and who have the essential skills for dealing with these very ill young women. No one is prepared to judge a young woman as suspect and it hardens us to realize this manipulative extreme exists. I suspect this was not a republican operation, and is simply the actions of a very ill young woman.

Seeing people posting on NY Times and YouTube, who witnessed what I witnessed and they included in their posts the words PUMA and PUMA PAC (before those PUMA posts were censored) sent me googling PUMA PAC and that brought me directly here to you, and I literally came back to life. I was not alone in wanting to fight. And we kept coming, from all walks of life we arrived as the days went on and we were a movement of PUMA working together.
This movement will continue to grow and we have a mission, and it is harder and bigger than we thought at first. America has a really big problem on its hands. Lets stay strong, fight hard, get up when we fall down, and get back in it to win. Do not be discouraged.

1gypsy4mc- I got all the info I needed, but ran into a major snag today. I went in for my pre-op exam and found a heart problem that kept me in the pre-op exam all morning, and playing “catchup” all day for what I didn’t get done in the morning. Now I have to go back to the dr again monday morning to have the heart situation checked again for a final decision regarding the scheduled thursday surgery…. so everything pretty much went “on hold” right now due to a sudden change in health… thanks for asking though!

It is always important to get a professional opinion and most bloggers don’t have your expertise. Abuse of women is a highly charged subject and some of the responses were probably coming from a deep level of fear and anger, misdirected at you.
PUMA remains a significant and NECESSARY response to the divisiveness of this campaign. Like Murphy mentions, my work in adult education involves a lot of interaction with AA men, both as students and as colleagues. So I am puzzled by this young woman’s actions and allegations, just like I’m puzzled by threats of riots, by Sandra Bernhardt’s comments, and by the Terry Tate video. This election really has been a scar on the national psyche and we’re all feeling it.

Murphy, I can’t vouch for McCain, but I know his record. There is a reason why so many republicans were upset when he won the primary- and that reason is that he IS a “maverick” and not loyal to the republican party. He, more than any other senator, has a record of multiple situations of reaching across the aisle to make compromises and get something done. 1gypsy4mac- I will… my dad died of congestive heat failure, so I wouldn’t be suprised if this at some time turned out to be that. Right now the thing that has the dr going nuts is that my blood pressure was bouncing off the walls… changing from 90/60 to 140/80 and not settling on one pressure. He’s having me stop both blood pressure pills I’m taking and see what happens on monday. He did an EKG which seemed normal… but he was asking a LOT of questions about dad and at what age they found his heart problem (he had been my dad’s dr when he died too).

In a way, we erred on the side of compassion. So what if we bashed Obama on the way? Does he deserve the bennefit of the doubt? Ashley Todd was working with the Young Republicans, who were in Pittsburgh per a deal they had with the Republican National Committee. The McCain Campaign never issued any “talking points”. All The McCain camp did was offer their sympathy.
It was the Young Republicans that jumped out in front of this and took a position that this was the real deal. Not McCain’s campaign manager in PA.
Furthermore, Ms Todd was working on temporary assignment there. Amen on the dem platform. I have been a dem forever and will not become a repub, but I will not vote for Obama. I decided that and announced it to my family in March after super Tuesday and I have never waivered. And I don’t have a problem with justifying it. Hmmm, I usually drop by here whenever I have something to share…but as I’m reading this thread and the posts with my jaw dropped. First of all, regarding this young woman who made up this story. There are people out there that desperately seek attention and want their 15 minutes of fame. If she were a Dem, would we be jumping for joy, in finding out it was a hoax? No. She’s not mentally well, period. It’s like the woman who accused the Duke Lacrosse players of an atrocious crime. In the end, did she ever apologized for what she did or explain why she did it? NO. That woman isn’t well either. Women like these exist and things like this happen. Because we’re so wrapped up in this election and the vileness of it, we are not seeing will have to explain herself eventually.
With that said, please allow me to share something I read today. Despite the bickering and the temper flare ups, PUMAs do matter.
A recent AP poll screamed trouble for Barack Obama.
It reported his base support to be just 80%. If this is accurate, and that is a very big IF, he can not win.
Last June when former Hillary Clinton supporters were asked, 58% supported Obama. But the same survey also showed 21% voting for John McCain. A follow-up survey of the very same people showed support for McCain had grown to 28% while remaining stagnant at 58% for Obama. The undecideds seem to be moving to McCain.
These numbers have been swept under the rug by the media, but they are still very important.
During the Democratic primaries, exit polls showed a consistent core of 20% that would not be voting for Obama in the general election.
Whether Rush Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos can be blamed for this distressing news for Obama can be debated, but it doesn’t completely explain away the numbers in the face of subsequent polls showing the same results.
If Obama is getting just 80% of Democrat support he is in trouble. A base support this low can not be overcome and will not get Obama elected. Almost all polls of rank and file Democrats have shown Obama’s base support in the eighties and mid seventies.
In 2000 Al Gore got 92% and lost. In 2004 John Kerry got 89% and lost by a clear margin.
There would have to be a huge difference in party identification to pull Obama through with just 80% of his base. The reported split among Independents doesn’t help either.
A September AP poll of Democratic and Independent likely voters showed that 1/3 hold negative views of Blacks. The same surveyed showed that 40% of all Americans have negative views toward Blacks. Is it that hard to believe the 80% support level?
The base support numbers tell the story. If they are real, this will be a tough night for the Democrat’s candidate. Additional fresh information reveals that the TIPPs poll has Obama with an 86 percent base support, but the 11.6% undecided number makes that suspect.

1gypsy4mc- I broke my nose twice in the past and have a badly deviated septum in my nose. I’m living on sudafed pills to breathe. It’s a surgery to correct the deviated septum. It’s major surgery with general aneasthesia, but outpatient. IF it’s done the surgeon said I’d have to sleep in a recliner overnight, and then have a bending/lifting restriction for 2 weeks.
What happened was I begged my dr for a prescription for sudafed because the government doesn’t allow me to get enough, LOL. Instead he sent me to a ENT who told me about the septum.
I have watched McCain for years. His republican buddies in the Senate have called him Democrat lite a number of times. He is not flamboyant, nor is he extreme on many things. He is a good solid reasoning legislator.
As far as all of the fight about health care and tax policy goes: The president suggests, the legislature passes the bills. NEITHER HEALTH CARE INTIATIVE (Obama or McCain) WILL PASS! Keep this in mind. let me say it again, LOUDLY: N E I T H E R HEALTH CARE INITATIVE WILL PASS!
The same is true about tax policy. THE LEGISLATURE SETS THE AGENDA FOR TAXATION. If the congress is opposed to the president, COMPROMISE IS NECESSARY FOR ANY LEGISLATION OR INITATIVE TO PASS!
What we really need is a president of one party and a congress of another. The reason so many bad things were passed during the Bush years is that they congress let Bush tell them what to do!

Hussein – the voters would have been less………but she had so many supporters going for her. The Repubs weren’t concerned because the other candidates started eliminating themselves. We Are Still The Ones that will make the difference.
I also think there is a shift of Repubs to B. Hussein’s camp, and that same that is happening in reverse – not counting us!! IMHO

In spite of polls, and all the MSM spew about their messiah, I do not see how BO could win this election for one simple reason. The last two elections went to Rep. even with the party solidly united. If even a quarter of the democrat party casts protest votes for McCain (and that’s a conservative estimate) the numbers just won’t add up.

You sound like you are giving up on being a PUMA? How can you say that McCain is as bad as Nobama? McCain might not be perfect but he has been honorable. He has not gone dirty with many themes he could have run with (including Rev Wright). If you truly still believe that the democratic party needs to learn a lesson then voting for McCain will show them that they cannot push people around and get their way. McCain has shown respect for a normal woman like us (Palin) and given many nods to Hillary who is a friend of his in the senate. I do not think BO even belongs on the same planet as McCain. McC has served his country and will be a good foil against this looney democratic party that is so splintered and corrupt. We have to keep working to get them out of the senate and house and then we can vote democratic in the next election and have a smooth system again.

I’ve barely had time to keep up with the news this week (and I don’t watch the MSM), so I didn’t have time to think much about the girl who was supposedly assaulted by a BO supporter. In that instance and other instances that involve political attacks at the local level I take a breadth and remind myself that people are innocent until proven guilty. I didn’t have time to judge the young lady or the person who was accused, but I made a quick mental note that the story said the video camera in the ATM did not record the events discussed by the victim. At that point I just decided that we had to wait and see what the police found out. That’s still my policy because I think it is in my nature to be a doubter until I see solid evidence (even about BO, I’m waiting to see evidence about several things). Gina, I’m sorry if people said nasty things to you (I didn’t read what was discussed and don’t plan on going back to read posts). People must have felt protective towards the young lady. Noone likes to see people get hurt. If people feel embarrassed about jumping on this story I don’t think you should. People lied and we can’t go around with a mental/emotional lie detector to know when someone is lying. Now we know the truth. It’s interesting that the people who are lied to are the ones who usually feel more shame than the liar. Don’t know why that is.

The disenfranchisement of Michigan and Florida voters, obama’s tactic of withdrawing his name from the ballot in Michigan and being awarded several of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s delegates and all of the “uncommitted” votes of that state (a decision that was in violation of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee’s own rules), the caucus cheating, corruption, and “piling-on” of bussed-in voters, the thuggish intimidation, physically and verbally abusive behaviors of obama’s supporters toward voters, and women in particular, the RBC’s decision to violate its own rules to favor obama, the vile sexist treatment of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton by obama, his cult–like followers, the media, and the deafening silence of the DNC regarding the sexist / misogynist treatment of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, and by default, all women. The accusations of racism interjected into the campaign each time obama slipped in polls or when he received negative publicity, the constant accusations of racism whenever obama was/is questioned or challenged, the payments of thousands of dollars to super- delegates in exchange for their votes, the threats of violence and bloodshed if obama wasn’t the nominee, the threats and pressure delegates received in Denver at the National Convention where they were stalked, chased, and brow beaten into voting for obama; the last minute changes in delegate vote procedures by Nancy Pelosi, the extraordinary pressure required by voters to have Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s name placed in nomination (even though she received more popular votes than obama) and the delgate count was close, the extraordinary pressure required by voters to have a roll-call vote on the floor of the Convention, the decision to prevent an open transparent vote on the convention floor; the final tallying of delegate votes where states “passed” instead of accurately reflecting the votes cast by the people of their states, the withholding of the actual formal tally that showed Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton within several delegates of obama’s ill-gotten delegate count.
As for obama himself… he is the selectee of the DNC, in spite of the will of the majority of Democratic voters, and that alone disqualifies him from receiving my vote.
That he lacks principle, positions, and any meaningful experience, his lack of documentation as a state senator, student, citizen, are other reasons. Even the medical report he made public was an undated, one page letter by a doctor stating that he is in good health; his questionable associations with Ayres, ACORN, and Rezko. His divisiveness and unwillingness to answer questions, his flip-flopping on positions, depending on which group he is addressing, and often within hours or days of stating the opposite position. His willingness to accuse anyone who questions, challenges, criticizes, or doesn’t want to vote for him, of being racists. His unwillingness to speak out against the violent abuses of women by his devotees and the media, reveals a profound lack of character.
McCain is a politician. I am not voting for McCain. I have never met a Republican who I thought would be good for this country.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Eight years ago on the eve of the presidential election, the economy was reeling from the collapse of the dot-com market. A recession either loomed or had already begun. The nation’s voters had a chance to choose a moderate Arizona senator as their new president, but he didn’t advance past the Republican primaries.
Now, another collapse, this time in the mortgage industry, has led to even greater economic uncertainty on election eve. It’s no time to repeat past mistakes; this time voters must choose the candidate with the experience to lead us through the storm.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette editorial board endorses John McCain for president.
There is nothing automatic or routine about this decision, even though this newspaper has usually picked the Republican candidate in recent decades. Our choice follows literally hours of the most heartfelt and deep discussions to accompany an endorsement in many years. In Barack Obama, the Democratic Party has its most compelling nominee in memory.
Strip away the politics, which seem to get nastier with every election cycle, and McCain is correct about Obama: “I have to tell you he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States.”
I didn’t look deeply into the $447 snack or the Ashley story.
I remember questioning whether the $447 was a typo or in some other currency; as it stood I found it unbelievable. Much more likely a hoax or a typo than that even Michelle Obama would do something so stupid.
As for the Ashley story, at this point I’m wondering whether she might have been bullied into retracting it — as often happens to rape victims and victms of domestic violence. Her original story seems much more likely than that she would do injuries to herself. Not to revive a traumatic story, but I find it hard to believe that someone could give herself two black eyes and the other injuries (though the face scratch pattern looks possible).
No one should feel bad about believing her story. What were we supposed to do — look up her tax liens? There’s too much media piling on of any innocent bystander who has a story the bots don’t like.
Murphy, agreed… there is no such thing as a perfect party, nor a perfect president. I have never YET found one president who I’ve agreed with on EVERYTHING,nor a party that I’ve 100% agreed with all the time. However, the closest you’re going to get of someone who is both democrat and republican is McCain. He angers both parties alike, and is loved by both parties alike, because he truly is “his own man” and goes the way that he feels is best for America all the time…. no matter WHAT any party thinks or says about it! No, I don’t always agree with him. I’ll even be honest and say that when the primaries came around even as a repub I hesitated to vote for him. I really didn’t like ANY of the people running much. However, after the primary I learned more and more about McCain.. and the more I learned about him the more I admired and respected him as a person, as a leader, and yes, as a “maverick” who definately LIVES“America First”.

As the mother of a special needs child, I would vote for McCain Palin on just this one issue! The voucher idea is the best I have heard. In our public schools they had all kinds of programs, but none were really what our daughter needed. It cost us over $100,000 to pay for her educational rehab needs over the next 11 years when we decided to home school her. (There went my retirement, and I am serious about that.) If we would have had just the money the school would have spent on her had she been a public school student, it would have helped.
So, there, Murphy, you now have a positive reason to vote for Sarah and John.

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read “Vote Obama, I need the money.” I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on a “Obama 08″ tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference–just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Now the nation must choose between them, and while we believe either man would make a fine president, we endorse Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
Barack Obama is an inspiring and even transformational figure. He has the intellect and the temperament to lead the nation well in troubled times. On some issues, such as health care, we prefer his proposals to Sen. McCain’s. If anyone else had won the Republican nomination, we would be endorsing Sen. Obama today.
But we prefer Sen. McCain. First and foremost, he is far better prepared not only to be commander in chief, but to lead the nation as it deals with a complex array of global challenges, from Iran to North Korea, from Russia to Venezuela. Consider two widely different areas of foreign policy, Iraq and Colombia.
Sen. McCain has often led the charge against the Bush administration when it was wrong on national security, from the 9/11 Commission (working with Joe Biden to make that happen) to the use of torture. But the most dramatic case regards Iraq. For years, he insisted we needed to send more troops. When Mr. Bush finally agreed to the “surge,” Sen. McCain was Gen. David Petraeus’ most conspicuous supporter.
The surge worked. Sen. McCain was for it, and Sen. Obama was against. That’s no accident. Sen. McCain’s support arose from his superior understanding of the situation and how to approach it.
Few will cast their ballots on the basis of the Colombian Free Trade Agreement, but the issue — which arose in the third debate — illustrates a difference with wider implications. Sen. McCain supports the treaty, which would open Colombia to U.S. goods (Colombian goods already flow freely this way), because it would cement ties with a nation that has courageously allied itself with ours on multiple fronts. #207 Actually, for me what has been most upsetting/frustrating this year (or as equally upsetting as the misogyny, etc…) is that the media haven’t been doing their job. They were supposed to provide the public with objective information, not help elect a president. Election results will not change the media’s unprofessionalism.
I read Murphy’s top lead. If the values Murphy describes that she holds as a democrat were still present in the Democratic Party, then we’d all have stayed with the Democratic Party when Hillary ended. We are here at PUMApac because the democratic leadership forgot the values of democracy, because they stopped caring about the people in their party, and because they ran the primaries in a way that went against everything many of us long time democrats believe.
The values Murphy describes is the “old” democratic party and not the “new” democratic party. The difference between the two is like night & day for me. I am not convinced that the platform of the Democratic Party is really alive & well with today’s democratic leadership. Frank, Pelosi, Reid, Brazile, & Dean aren’t true caretakers of the Democratic Party as we knew the party to be in the past.
We can get nostalgic for the “old days” of the DNC, but let’s not pretend like the leadership that ran the primaries and who are doing every thing they can to get Obama elected with any means necessary – that gang is not embracing those values of which Murphy speaks.
I joined PUMA because we wanted to show the Democratic Party loud & clear that they cannot just force a candidate down our throats and then tell us that our opinions don’t matter because they now have all these new people who will follow them any where.
I feel the DNC made it loud & clear – either fall in line & join the gang like they are today – without the values of yesterday – or get out of here. That’s what led to PUMA and the Denver Group and so many others coming together around the U.S. to say we want to retain the values of our party and treat voters with respect.
I’ve always said I’m not voting for Obama because I refuse to vote for the candidate that the DNC gang has pushed on the party doing things to their own internal candidate (Hillary) & the Hillary supporters that were disgraceful. Initially I said I would just not vote for a President, but then all the articles were published on blogs that demonstrated that such a vote would actually help elect Obama. So I said Okay – I’m going for McCain-Palin.
For me – I’ve never forgotten why I’m where I am today. For me it’s all about being a long time democrat and feeling that my own party turned it’s back on its own. They wanted us to not ask any questions about Obama and just follow them.
p.s. – I still think Obama is on a socialist path. I thought the language was strong when I first heard it in the media, but then I did lots of research (I’m a former librarian in a previous career); and I believe that there is enough documentation to show that Obama has demonstrated in the past a true connection to the beliefs of socialism. He may not be promoting today as he strives to get elected – but there is a paper trail based on his previous affiliations, words & actions.

What I have learned from this election, is that I am not the Democrat I thought I was.
I believe in Capitalism, I believe in low taxes ( I am paying $10,000 every 90 days in taxes). Obama is going to let the Bush tax cuts expire, and lift the cap on Social Security taxes. I figure I will have to pay an additional 10 or 15 thousand a year (I don’t earn $250,000).
I am DONE being a Democrat. I am done voting for people who want to take more from me.
I came from nothing, have only a high school diploma. No rich parents, no husband. I made myself what I am today by bloody hard work, and I am not interested in giving my money to lazy ass people.

Greta has been having too darling young women on her show that are following and reporting on the Ohio voting frauds and how Ohio is not handling the problem. They are very cute girls and inspiring in how professionally they are reporting on the problems. Greta is also interviewing someone from Alaska who sells clothes to Sarah Palin and she says Sarah doesn’t spend alot of money on her clothes, is very nice, has a gorgeous figure and often brings her daughters and baby in when she shops.

Those of you waiting to vote until the last minute on nov 4 and who want to see how it’s turning out. PLEASE, just remember to NOTbelieve the exit poll information on tv or radio! If you do, you may just say it’s a lost cause and not go; and maybe, just maybe, yours is the ONE VOTE McCain needed to keep BO from winning your state! Stranger things have happened. So, ok… wait. That’s fine. Like I’ve said before, “miracles happen”. Just please don’t give any weight to any exit polls or projections you may hear that day on tv or radio, ok?
Murphy – I’ve read the post up top and the more recent follow up explanation. I don’t understand all of what was written and I may not agree with all of it – however I assume you had a need to write what was on your mind & in your heart – and I respect that – so I’m hoping you are feeling at peace now.
As for the news story which was repeated on this blog -One unstable person who does something and gains national media attention – fooling lots of people – is not enough to motivate me to start seeing the DNC as the good guys or Obama as the best candidate.
And certainly I am not going to turn to supporting the Dems Party simply because there was an article on the PUMA blog which was carried by hundreds of media outlets across the US – which now proves to be untrue.
For me an apology & I’m sorry would have been plenty enough. Perhaps along with an offer to use words such as “alleged” in any future reporting would have been a good. (Some media stories reported this same article and offered opinion by first saying “…if this is true then we think…”. We can do that here too).
We do not expect any leader – including you – to be perfect. It’s your humanity that makes this blog so successful.
It’s important to remember that everyone who visits this site (especially as we get closer to the election) are NOT people who visit this blog every day or who read everything article or every post. So I’m guessing that many of today’s visitors probably have little idea what all is even being referred to in the article up top because they’ve not been following every lead post over the recent days or weeks.
As for those who do read this blog every day and do try to look at each post – we are your strongest supporters and so we do NOT expect you to fall on a sword just because of one opinion you shared one day – and then later you changed due to new information received. That’s life. We all do it every day. Columnists with newspapers or on blogs do it all the time. What’s important is correcting the story when discovered.
At this stage, we want to remain focused on Obama not being elected. We will have plenty of time to look back over the year and assess what we would do differently in the next election.
Perhaps because you see all the negative posts and are protecting us from that negativity – we do not know how that stuff must weigh on your mind each day. So our “PUMA world” is only what we actually see here for all to read. If you are not already doing so, maybe just deleting the bad stuff and not reading it would be good at this stage. We don’t want you believing any of those who write you to say that you are racist or a bad person. You have hundreds of us around the U.S. who have found a home on this blog and a place for democrats who shared your passion back in the summer that the DNC was heading the wrong way.
Murphy – You did this – you made this happen – you should feel proud. I can recall the first email I sent to you (before I found the blog) and how I thanked you for creating this space. I still have a copy of that email I sent you on August 14th thanking you for this blog. I feel as strongly now as I did that day. Believe me – without this organized way to communicate against & to the Democratic Party – this election cycle would have been much harder.
Remember there were many lost democrats. We didn’t recognize the Democratic Party and we were not choosing to be full-time republicans. You gave us a place to come & chat & take action. That’s BIG!!

Obama Refuses to Answer Birth Certificate Lawsuit

A Pennsylvania lawsuit alleging that Barack Obama is not a “natural-born citizen” of the United States took an unusual twist this week, after a federally mandated deadline requiring Obama’s lawyers to produce a “vault” copy of his birth certificate expired with no response from Obama or his lawyers.
The lawsuit, filed by former Pennsylvania Deputy Attorney General Philip J. Berg — a self-avowed supporter of Hillary Clinton — alleges that Barack Obama was born in Kenya and is thus “ineligible” to run for president of the United States. It demands that Obama’s lawyers produce a copy of his original birth certificate to prove that he is a natural-born U.S. citizen.
Berg’s suit and allegations have set off a wave of Internet buzz and rumors, though Obama could easily have put the matter to rest by providing the federal court with the basic documentation proving he is eligible to take the oath of a president. But Obama has apparently decided to deny the court and the public that documentation.
The Constitution provides that any U.S. citizen is eligible to become president if the person is 35 years of age or older and is a natural-born citizen; that is, born in the territorial United States.
By failing to respond to the Request for Admissions and Request for the Production of Documents within 30 days, Obama has “admitted” that he was born in Kenya, Berg stated this week in new court filings.
Berg released a long list of “admissions” he submitted to Obama’s lawyers on Sept. 15, and asked that they produce documents relating to Obama’s place of birth and citizenship.
Instead of responding, lawyers for Obama and the DNC asked the court to dismiss the case. But Judge R. Barclay Surrick of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has issued no ruling in the case that would have given Obama’s lawyers more time.
“There are lots of legal ways to stonewall,” a well-placed Republican attorney told Newsmax, who was not authorized to comment officially on the case. “But failing to respond is not one of them.”
“The first thing they teach you in law school,” he added, “is don’t put a complaint like this in a drawer. That’s how a nuisance case can become a problem.”
The 30-day deadline for defendants to comply with a discovery request is set forth in the Federal Rules of Civil Procedures.
“It all comes down to the fact that there’s nothing from the other side,” Berg said after he filed a motion on Thursday for summary judgment.
“The admissions are there. By not filing the answers or objections, the defense has admitted everything. [Obama] admits he was born in Kenya. He admits he was adopted in Indonesia. He admits that the documentation posted online is a phony. And he admits that he is constitutionally ineligible to serve as president of the United States.”
In a contentious case, lawyers on both sides will haggle over the production of documents, and will frequently go beyond the deadlines, several lawyers told Newsmax.
“The rules are more often complied with in the breech rather than the observance,” a senior trial attorney who has close ties to the Democrat Party, but is not involved in the current case, told Newsmax.
“Lawyers frequently do not return telephone calls or meet discovery deadlines because of sheer inadvertence. Therefore, we do not consider a failure to respond as a ‘violation,’” he said.
Allegations surrounding Obama’s place of birth have been swirling for months. Earlier this year, the Obama campaign sought to put down the rumors by making available a computer-generated Certification of Live Birth, issued in 2007 by the State of Hawaii. Respected conservative blogger Ed Morrissey called the Berg lawsuit a “conspiracy theory” that had been put to rest by the Obama campaign over the summer but ”has arisen like a zombie yet again to suck the credibility out of the conservative blogosphere.”
However, the 2007 document produced by the Obama campaign omits key information that normally appears on birth certificates in the United States, including the name of the hospital where he was born, the size and weight of the baby, and sometimes the name of the doctor who delivered him.
In addition, the critics of the 2007 document note that Obama’s father is described as “African,” a term used today. The formal language in official documents at the time — 1961 — would have identified his race as “Negro” or “Colored.”
The Web site snarkybytes.com has produced a vault copy of a Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth from 1963, issued by the Hawaii Department of Health. [See the vault copy — Click Here.]
In addition to naming the hospital and more details about the baby, the 1963 vault copy also includes the “usual residence of the mother,” and the “usual occupation” of the father. None of this information appears on the 2007 Live Birth certificate produced by the Obama campaign.
Berg has been a perennial political candidate in Pennsylvania, having run in Democrat primaries for attorney general, lieutenant governor, governor, and other offices without success. He served as deputy attorney general of the State of Pennsylvania from 1972-1980.
His credibility was tarnished by work he did for the far-left “9/11 for the Truth” campaign, which alleged in a federal lawsuit that the collapse of the twin towers in New York was caused by “controlled demolition” ordered by the president of the United States.
Nevertheless, in recent weeks, lawsuits have been filed in seven additional states demanding that Barack Obama produce an original vault copy of his birth certificate, to dispel the rumors that he is not a natural-born United States citizen.
The latest suits have been filed in state and federal courts in Hawaii, Washington, California, Florida, Georgia, New York, and Connecticut to compel Obama to release his birth records.
Lawsuits in Washington and Georgia are seeking state superior courts to force the states’ secretary of state, as the chief state elections officer, to require Obama to produce original birth records from Hawaii, or else decertify him as a candidate for the presidency.
Ironically, Obama mentions his birth certificate in passing on Page 26 of his 1995 memoir, “Dreams of My Father.” “I discovered this article, folded away among my birth certificate and old vaccination forms, when I was in high school,” he wrote.
Lawyers for Obama and the DNC did not return calls for comment on the current status of the case, or explain why the Obama campaign did not simply put to rest the whole controversy by releasing the birth certificate that Obama apparently cherished as a teenager.
In the past, questions about Sen. John McCain’s legal status have arisen. McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone at a U.S. Army hospital. McCain had legal experts vet his constitutional qualifications, and he also disclosed a copy of his birth certificate.

As what’s his name is also for school vouchers, McCain/Palin would get a LOT of teacher support if she came out publicly regarding the IDEA.
I have co-taught, and I have seen the amazing wonders of an “inclusive” classroom.
My main argument against NCLB is in the way it is implemented in PA, where special needs students have very few accomodations given to them–even less than they are allowed on the SATs or even the Driver’s License exam.

No, no no. Exit polls will not sway us. You need to read the posts more closely. Our only reason for waiting is to see if Obie is out and Hillary or some other acceptable democrat is in at the last minute (even though that is very very improbable).
Oh, and I am definitely voting for McCain. I was saying I would for three months before Just Say No Deal or Puma ever existed. I was never going to be forced.
Also, about Obama’s religion: My opinion is that he is mainly agnostic, agrees with black liberation theology and he sympathizes with Islam, especially in instances when it comes to Islam vs. Judaism and America/ Israel vs. Palestine, etc.
I don’t think he is Muslim or a practicing muslim, etc. I know muslims believe: born that way–you are. Period. It’s only in hippy dippy freedom of religion America that disagrees with the rest of the Islamic world when it comes to religion and blood.
One last time: it is not a smear to think someone is a certain religion when they have a freaken arabic name, a name most common for those with an Islamic background, and when a giant portion of their family is muslim, and they grew up for 5 years in the most Islamic nation in the world.

There is a CONFIRMED arrest and confession of a Obama supporter who assaulted a McCain volunteer in New York City recently that was NOT nationally reported. Of course when it’s a confirmed story then the MSM doesn’t care about it because it can’t possibly backfire on Obama.
An ER trauma doctor (McCain supporter by the way) noted on a blog as soon as the Ashley Todd story broke that her eye injury appeared to be makeup and not consistent with the swelling that would have been present from such an attack so I am afraid I was always a bit wary of jumping to conclusions before the police had completed their investigation.

This article is insightful. This radical belief that America is responsible for all the problems in the world because of its corruption and imperialism has been in the universities since the late 60′s. Ayers and company subscribe to this view that the great Evil in the world is America – we are destroying the planet with our gluttonous ways; that terrorists bomb us because we are where we shouldn’t be, etc etc.
It was only a matter of time when these ideas, primarily confined to the univeristies, made their way into the mainstream. It’s no surprise that many people embrace BO because he subscribes to this view of America and American culture.
ACORN Official Says Conservative Media, McCain Campaign Involved in Voting Suppression Effort

(CNSNews.com) – The conservative media and the McCain campaign are involved in a voter suppression effort, according to a top official with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).
“There is an orchestrated campaign – coming from the right – that is ultimately about voter suppression,” ACORN spokesman Brian Kettering said in an interview. “We know that conservative media – and CNS is probably one of them – conservative organizations and the McCain campaign are running a concerted, coordinated effort,” Kettering said.
“One of its key strategies is to attack and de-legitimize the work of ACORN,” he said.
The Associated Press reported last week that the “FBI is investigating whether the community activist group ACORN helped foster voter registration fraud around the nation before the presidential election.”
“We’re not saying that the FBI is involved in voter intimidation,” Kettering said. “The intent of the campaign is to draw law enforcement into the fight.”
When CNSNews.com asked Kettering whether conservatives had succeeded in drawing in the FBI, he answered, “Absolutely.”
In an Oct. 18 statement, ACORN said the investigation was a partisan attempt to “taint” the election and undermine both its efforts and the Obama campaign.
“This is a right-wing attempt to set the stage for a massive voter suppression operation,” the statement read. It also characterized the FBI investigation as a “nakedly partisan attempt to taint the election, ACORN, and the candidacy of Barack Obama.”
In an Oct. 16 letter to Attorney General Michael Mukasey and FBI Director Robert Mueller, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.) claimed that the FBI had leaked the existence of the investigation, calling it inappropriate and saying it was suspicious, given the Justice Department’s history of political involvement.
“There is extensive evidence that political operatives improperly pressured United States Attorneys to investigate and prosecute spurious claims of voter fraud,” Conyers said. “Thus, one must view the timing of this leak with added suspicion.”
Kettering echoed these claims, saying there was a clear history of past, politically driven investigations at the Justice Department and that the FBI’s current investigations resembled them.
“In the very recent past we’ve seen partisan political behavior on the part of the Justice Department,” he said. “That’s the context in which the FBI is investigating.”
When asked whether the current investigations resembled past, politically charged investigations, Kettering said, “Absolutely yes, we know that’s what happened in the past.”
The McCain campaign did not return calls before press time.

The next little town to the right of me, one OB sign and one McCain sign. The next town, where I go shopping, I haven’t seen any signs. At least on the main roads. I’ve been unable to get online but have been talking to people from all states all day. Managed to convince several people – fence sitters – to vote McCain. Thankfully someone had an IPhone so we could check facts. Distributed flyers rather easily.
Connected with a two time Vietnam Vet turned successful businessman. He’s very impressed with what we have done and posted flyers in his business for all to see. He is very receptive to asking his staff to make phone calls for McCain – and I am asking them to help with flyers.
A 70+ year old woman asked for flyers to help. They make shirts for Garth Brooks.
Met an older woman from TX whose husband is a professor. Both voting for Obama – knowing when to move on and not waste time on Obots is a virtue.

Regarding claims that Obama is a socialist, he was in fact a member of the New Party in the 1990s, a socialist organization.
His tax plan does not in itself socialist but the REASONS Obama gives for the tax plan do sound socialist. He intends to tax wealthy for freebies for those less wealthy. The problem with that agenda is that you, me and everybody I know is always wealthier than SOMEBODY else so there is no end to that road until we have all been taxed in order to distribute money more or less equally among the population.
It is a nice sounding thing to do but it sounds socialist to me also, it really does.
Thats fine, lots of countries are socialist, but lets at least be honest about the agenda we are selling to the voters.
There is a difference between having a proactive and progressive governmental social agenda and having a socialist agenda and Obama is definitely on that line. The question is if he is over it.

I am working a trade show in Dallas 8:30 am to 6 pm without internet. WTF – so I resort to what I can do off blog which I must say is more satisfying. Flyering is done after hours – trade show exhibitors come from all different states. Tomorrow I may leave a stack for people to pick up – if my customers are offended, they can come back next Spring.
This guy who owns this business was talking about taking out a page in a newspaper. I will badger him tomorrow to make sure he is a man of his words. I will give it 24 hours before I do that – I just met him.

I mean no disrespect in what I’m about to say because I admire what you do in your efforts with maintaining this blog (a home for many) as well as your well intentioned goals for the future of this country. That said — I have to tell ya that I disagree with a lot of what you wrote at the top of this post on so many levels.
I understand the need to apologize for being fooled by the story of the beaten woman. I was initially fooled and taken in by this story as well and agree that this woman’s actions was devoid of any decent moral bearings and succeeded in raising a lot of emotional tensions (possibly the intent of the lie — just a guess). But I am certainly able to separate the wrong of one person from the collective wrong or right of others. Each person has to be judged by their own merits and content of character. Just because this woman claimed to be a Republican and commited a wrong would no way make me dislike (and not want to vote) for all Republicans.
When you refer to Obama and the Democratic party, you’re coming from a frame of reference from a Democratic party that is no longer in existence. The Democratic party of today is the “Progressive” a.k.a. the “New Party… a.k.a. the SDS (Student Democratic Society)…. a.k.a. Socialist which is a nice word for “Marxist” and “Terrorists.” All of this is leading up to my complaint of the claim that you don’t believe Obama is really a Socialist.
While I agree that we – PUMA’s — are the good guys — please don’t make the leap that Democrats are the good guys. At least not this new Progressive Democrat gang. I’m still a Democrat in the sense of what it meant to my parents and grandparents… but I’m not a Democrat in the sense of what it means to Obama, Ayers, Pelosi, Dean, Brazile, Claire McCaskill, Brunner, and an endless number of Ayers/Obama plants into the system towards their Godless goals of Socialism. Do I think Obama is a G-dless Socialist. Absolutely. And G-d help those that aren’t G-dless if he wins.

This evening while riding back to the hotel in the shuttle, witnessed a hispanic looking guy pummeling this girl in the parking lot of the Sheraton. It seems she was on the ground. The driver was yelling out the window, don’t do that ! He stopped the bus and got security and a girl next to me called 911. The guy then wanted to fight the driver.
After he pummeled the girl, she walked away but he went after her and taked to her and gave her a bear hug and walked her back to their car. We tried to get the girl to not go with him but she instead told us to shut up and went with him in the car. Apparently this young couple was dropping off a couple of guys at the hotel and they said they didn’t see their friend hitting this girl. This girl from NY called the cops and took pictures of his car with lisc plates. The cops came but can’t do anything unless the victim complains.
I hope no one here on this blog ever let themselves get hit – once is enough to get them behind bars.

Re: Socialism.
The American public would never accept socialism in its classical sense. However, a coalition of a few major businesses and the government would appear to be free enterprise, when in fact it would be “enterprise”.
Of course i orer to achieve that you would have to get rid of competition. Have a handful of companies have undue influence and speacial treatment form the government.
Things like bailouts. of course to have bailouts and put the government in charge of things you have to bring solid companies into bankruptcy. Perhaps by forcing them to engage in unprofitable high risk ventures under the guise of “fairness” and “opportunity” Companies of such importance that bailing them out would be seen as in the best interests of the nation.
Then the government would have control even though the same people who were at the helm of such companies remained there. Sort of a business govt. partnership.
Which would neccesitate new regulations to insure profits for said companies. After all its the publics money. we must insure it is a wise investment. Of course that destroys the free market.
A version of socialism.
Fortunately that could never happen here.

You are probably gone by now since you said your good-byes. Sorry you had this experience on this blog. I actually had to go back to yesterday and look for the specific responses to your post. I can see why you felt bad. And I suspect being called out in a big bright yellow box that stood out on the blog was embarrassing since it’s not often our moderator reacts in that way at such length to one individual.
I’ve been blasted too – several times on the blog. But I just write back on here and let the other person know how I feel about what they said. That works better than feeling upset at what was written. My observation is that there are often apologies posted on here. When people speak up and say “hey, wait a minute” and talk about the manner in which they were addressed (while still agreeing to disagree), often after people cool down they explain why the reacted so strongly.

First of all Murphy, I don’t think your believing what was reported in the news needs the kind of apology you made.
Now we are supposed to know when the media is telling the truth or lies about every thing they report? If that were the case, we wouldn’t need the news at all, we would already have that special sense to determine reality.
I think most of us that have been on the blog since June or so, know that you are not the type of person to bring up something to hurt anyone. I personally don’t think you need to feel badly at all.
There seems to be a real disconnect on the blog, not only on this story and if people believed the assault was true or not, but in the way we view the political world.

Just came online….reading Murphy’s intro….I agree Murphy don’t beat yourself up over an honest mistake. I’d worry about you more if you took the opposite path and dismissed the young woman’s claim. Don’t we all remember that when someone makes a claim about being assaulted or attacked we SHOULD take them seriously, NOT IGNORE or dismiss them as liars.
Perhaps the best thing would have been to take it seriously yet reserve judgment. You’re human. You showed the horror and outrage that I’d hope any caring, breathing person would show.

My point is making untrue accusations for whatever reason is NOT something restricted whites or blacks, Democrats or Republicans. In this case it was a young white woman. I don’t remember hearing or reading anywhere if she WAS a Republican. I heard she was working a phone bank for McCain. Maybe she was an Independent or heavens forbid a former Hillary supporter? I haven’t heard one way or the other what her party affiliation was. Don’t remember if I heard she was a “Young College Republican.” And to be perfectly honest, I couldn’t care one way or the other what her party affiliation is. I’ve known some very decent young college Republicans and some very revolting, obnoxious ones. But the same applies to the youg Democrats I’ve known. I don’t think disease/ instability, mental or physical, really favors anyone based on political affiliation.
My basic point is people of all races, colors, creeds, political affiliations make up stories, lie, falsely accuse. It’s wrong. In all cases. Equally wrong. It’s not more wrong for whites than it is for blacks, or vice versa….

I think we all need to stand back and look at the big picture here. This election is not the end of us no matter who wins. With organization we will be able to sit at the table with our values. I am a woman’s libber from years past, but I must tell you that I have not seen a movement like this since I burnt my training bra in the 60s. As a trail blazer, I have fought sexism my whole life. The women in my family were and are strong single mothers. We have all fought this silent fog, alone for generations. But look what has happened. Sexism became visible and we bonded together so quickly. I was so thrilled to find all of you. I read this blog many many times daily and I take all of you out into the world with me each day. Can’t say I have ever been so moved by a blog before. We can no longer see ourselves as powerless. My god, we have been afraid for so long, but look at us now. Yes, I have lost friends because of the divide, me nobama, friends OB (I am in Oakland, OB land). But many of my friends are hoping that BO, if elected, will empower them. Empower them! If you worry about the skyrocketing federal deficits of the Bush era, just wait till the Obama administration hits town. Spending pyrotechnics will be spectacular if Barack Obama is elected and his liberal Democrat allies increase their majorities in Congress come Nov. 4. We already know that Obama has proposed more than $800 billion in new spending, and that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is pushing a $300 billion “stimulus” package on top of the $1 trillion-plus in Wall Street bailouts already approved. Obama defends this spending explosion as “spreading the wealth.” What hasn’t received enough attention, though, are the absurd spending plans already proposed by Obama and other liberals in Congress, plans that would surely come to fruition with expanded Democratic majorities and a like-minded president. House Republican Leader John Boehner put together a helpful compendium of half-baked Democratic spending bills that are sure to re-emerge like the living dead:
• Tax relief for trial lawyers — $1.5 billion worth over a decade by changing rules to encourage more and riskier “jackpot justice” lawsuits. (Section 311 of H.R. 6049.)
• Obama’s own proposed Global Poverty Act that would require the United States to spend its own money working at “eradicating extreme hunger, promoting gender equality, empowering women… ensuring environmental sustainability…[and] achieving significant improvement in the lives of at least 100 million slum dwellers” worldwide. Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy did the math and concluded this would amount to a new commitment of $845 billion in new foreign aid through 2015. (S.2433)
• New federal subsidies to buy gas for families making up to three times the federal poverty line, which would be $63,600 in annual income for a family of four. (H.R. 6561)
• Wage insurance. Create a new federal payroll tax on all workers to pay for “insurance” that would – get this – pay people up to 50 percent of the difference in wages between an old job and a new, lower-paying job. So if John Doe voluntarily takes a new job that requires 10 hours less work per week, the government would pay him for five of the hours that he doesn’t work – courtesy of other, harder-working wage earners.
• A new, Cabinet-level, multi-billion-dollar federal Department of Peace, dedicated to “peace education and training.” (H.R. 808)
These plans make clear that it would be the wealth of ordinary taxpayers being spread, mostly to people who didn’t earn it. The criminal justice system calls such a process “armed robbery” (because the government’s taxing power is backed up with arms). At this rate, “change we can believe in” would quickly become “nobody has any change left.”

These are the reasons Obama cannot win. In losing, his supporters may seem to start a war but, in truth, it’s a war that began long ago and continues today.
Never doubt the influence of Israel on our politics. If you remember 2000~~~ Gore won the ‘popular vote’. But the vote was challenged in Florida by people IN Israel. It wasn’t the vote that mattered. Hello, It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. My, lots of action. People voting for O up above and fraudalent story (Todd) that I hadn’t heard about. Goodness, I’m out of the loop. Been harvestng grapes and pressing for some good wine. I dropped my ballot off two days ago. Voted for Hillary (said I was from the beginning and held true to my heart). Yes, I know, a wasted vote either way. Voted all over the place for the rest of the tickets, national, state, local. Hadn’t done that at any time in my voting life and it felt soooooooo good. Well, tonight, my 70 something sister confessed she voted for O so that makes everyone in my immediate family who supports O except me. What does that tell you? I have a great family, but they just can’t get over Bush and the Republicans mess. Anything but Bush……Well, give them a couple of years, maybe six months and let them see the sorrid scene of the Democratic Congress and the Democratic President. The poor will still be poor and the rich will still be rich and the two wars will still be going and the rest of us (well, kiss our hard earned money, homes, and healthcare goodbye). People want a miracle. Will, they’ll get one, but it won’t be the good kind. It’s a good thing that the colors of Fall are bright this year. At least there’s beauty to behold among this dismissal election cycle.

#361 I really don’t know the teachings of Abraham, sorry. The woman who wrote this is named Karen Bishop. Someone close to me heard some panic in my voice a few months back and sent it to me. It really helped me get out of the tidal pool I was in. I think it is really easy to get sucked down with all the lies and deceit out there. I even find it hard to try to find news online that hasn’t been tainted, let alone my friends. But this really brings me back to my own gut reaction, which has been my guiding light for so long now. mountainsong – my own opinion is that if Obama is elected, they will feel they have no choice. I think an attack will happen after November 4 if The One is elected.
Iran has made its intentions more than clear. If they acquire nuclear weapons, they can fulfill their promise at a time of their choosing. And if Obama is in the White House, they know they aren’t going to be able to count on the US for support in the future.
Let’s not forget what we all have witnessed during the primaries and this election season. We have witnessed or read about massive voter fraud, caucus fraud, voter intimidation, threats from Obots, stealing and burning of McCain/Palin yard signs, ballots being stolen, being called a racist, Hillary or McCain supporters being attacked, shooting at McCain’s bus in NM, shooting at yard signs in Florida that hits GOP house, vandalism of GOP campaign headquarters, massive media abuse and campaigning for Obama, millions and millions of dollars raised by Obama with questionable sources, Obama training camps, sexism and mysogyny, messiah worshipping, poll manipulation, stock market manipulation, DNC downfall, BO not a natural born citizen, Socialism, Marxism, Communism, Ayers, ACORN, Wright, etc., May 31, 2008, people lying to pollsters and afraid to put up yard signs for McCain out of fear, etc., etc. There is definitely a lot more to list, but you get the idea. It is only natural to assume that this could have happened to A. Todd because of what we have endured this past year. All of us would not put ANYTHING past the Obots or Obama campaign. This incidence is unfortunate, but we need to not forget all that HAS happened and not take our eye off of our goal.
Our goal: NO OBAMA!
I respect that we have people from different political stances coming together for this sole purpose. It is okay to have differing viewpoints from time to time. That’s what makes us Americans. How many people on this blog are serious Obama researchers? How many still watch MSNBC and CNN? How many only watch Fox, but keep in mind it is a right leaning station? How many think the democratic party is still fundamentally the same? How many people think their lives will fundamentally stay the same if either Obama or McCain is president?

I have to throw my two cents in. All this doomsday talk is forgive me, bul (not the religious part)l. In the end Americans are Americans. I know a lot of fellow Americans have bought CArathias line. When the crunch comes, they will remember who they are and what it means to be an American.

Right. An injured woman shouldn’t be treated like a possible criminal, met with suspicion or ridicule. She had real injuries. She deserves respect and sympathetic examination. Self-mutilation is very rare — being bullied into retracting a politically-damaging story is unfortunately very likely in this climate.
Sure we should all be a little careful of going off with a big reaction, we should always put in a disclaimer about things not being confirmed yet. But let’s not over-react in the opposite direction either.
Unfortunately most of the story is extremely credible. Cars and homes are vandlaized for having McCain stickers; people are threatened and harrassed and attacked for carrying McCain or PUMA signs. Muggings do happen (out of sight of the cameras — what mugger would choose to do it in front of the camera?). For a mugging to escalate to a further beating when he saw the McCain sticker is credible.
The scratches are unlikely — whoever did them. What is sure, is that the girl would be under a lot of pressure to retract her story, and anything that might be misquoted as a retraction or some sort of debuking would be widely reported.
I’m not saying to ‘believe’ her 100% — just to suspend judgement either way. And certainly not to feel bad about the healthy sympathetic reaction of believing her in the first place!

I’ve researched Obama enough not to believe he is who he would like people to believe he is. I never watch CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC and only occasionally the (maybe right leaning) FOX. I think, except for Hannity, they are in the tank, too. I think that, as a result of the caucus fraud during the primaries, the democratic party was split. Those who accept everything CNN and MSNBC says support Obama, or the dreamers that like what he says(when he says something definitive) Honestly, I don’t know what the Democratic Party really is anymore.
I think if McCain is elected life will stay pretty much the same as we stumble through the financial turmoil. and I believe if Obama is elected, all hell is going to break loose in the worlds as it morphs into something we have never seen before.

My family is not native american (obviously) but my sister and I were just tonight talking about this.
I’m considering moving closer to our heritage, while she feels drawn to the mountains. She’s sipped on koolaid, but she understands there could be a real upheaval in our society. She just longs to retreat to the mountains.
It feels like society has become fierce and toxic. Don’t mean a doom and gloom but perhaps we are at the end of a natural cycle. Hope that makes sense.

I have ambivalent feelings about the Dem Party since the events of the primary election. I feel we have been estranged from our family there. But I’m happy to be here with the PUMAs, working toward the reforming and possibly recapturing the Dem Party. Dick Morris stated on FOX today that the successful Clinton era economy was driven by a cut in the capital gains tax.McCain/Palin have the same pragmatic, pro-grow policies, not the lame spread the wealth idea which doesn’t grow anything. I agree with those stating that BO is a radical. He works the system, but shows he doesn’t believe in our system based on his record. Well, we are Americans and want to stay that way, so as Freddie says “Keep the Change Obama!”

So true about being at odds with family! My family members roll their eyes at me and shake their heads and I don’t even have to say anything – I just walk into the room! I’ve become the “odd” relative who is confused. I think we manage to keep peace by not discussing politics any more at length. But amazingly enough we still remember we are family and are able to find the love despite our political differences.

I think Murphy is being too hard on herself. The key words in the post from a news report below are—police have concerns about Todd’s mental health. —It is more likely that she is not so much a devious human being, but probably a troubled young woman, which is sad.

We are probably more sensitive to the assaults (some have been real) since we experienced constant attacks from obots during the primaries. We weren’t used to being attacked by members of our own party with such viciousness. Now many of us are once again feeling the wrath from Democrats fed up with 8 years of Bush, directed at us since we won’t fall in line with BO. It has been one hell of a long election cycle, and I for one cannot wait for it to end.

I find myself watching people…the frenzy and boob tube and really think wow…people think our elections are real? I am still working them (election day) But I think we had a coup d’estat in 2000. What ever shadow we face and I believe it there… smacks of GW and Obama…..give the people what they want and make the man very wealthy. I am fighting for my family farm…cos I forsee a future that the government will take my ancestrial lands…AGAIN!! From Ireland now here. I fear large corporations like Monsato….from an ag prospective the people of Afghanistan have no choice to grow poppy (they had to turn over there fertile seed for non-fertile and go back to the same big corps each year for the same ole crap…. as we American farmers are relegated to non fertile seed….genetically engineered shite that is causing autism, celiac (as I came down with last year) and any other host of illnesses our ancestors never saw….and shite if this theme didnt come round on my watch with a new an horrific twist. I have enjoyed every minute of my “stealth puma” time. I bring my envelope Freddiebrown sent me with my flyers, walk around malls, parking lots etc and find fun places to put the flyers. Some are in those employment and real estate boxes near bus stops, others in shopping carts. I wish I could get up early enough to put them inside the Sunday papers this weekend. My husband works in D.C. closely within the government’s computer business. He has to constantly be vetted, and clear a security pass. How can obama, with all his radical and unsavory/unethical connections be able to go thru unvetted? Any clues as to why he gets in under the radar?

BillieJo, the only Repubs that I’ve noticed are me, RedStateGuy and Karen. Unless I’ve missed someone, everybody else seems to be a Dem or Indy. I haven’t seen any drama from us, unless you want to count SouthJersey getting her panties in a knot because I disagreed with her over the API Michelle Obama story. The drama wasn’t from my end though … I think DWP and Murphy can attest to that.
I have tons of very close friends who are Democrats, some are very liberal. In fact, one of my most liberal friends was my birthing coach when I gave birth to my daughter 14 yrs ago. I’ve never tried to convert any of my friends to becoming a Repub. so I sure the heck would never try to do that here. I hope you don’t think that that is the case. Unlike some of you, I don’t pick my friends based on their political beliefs. Over the years I’ve had 4 roommates, all 4 were liberal Dems, 3 were straight women, one was a gay man. In fact the best roommate I ever had was my gay friend Ian.
He died of AIDS in Dec. 1994. I think of him and miss him everyday. He would have made a great PUMA!!

PUMA is in definitely in effect. Normally, the above mentioned demographic groups would be skewed towards the Democratic side. Despite that, and as we’ve seen in previous elections, even a 1% difference means a LOT in Florida – Mel Martínez won his senate seat against the great Betty Castor by less than 100 votes. Too close to call and EVERY VOTE has to be counted and verified.
I lived in chicago right after graduating from art school back in the late 70′s. I beat the street with portfolio in hand, finally got a job at an advertising co. Found out it was very deeply connected to the chicago mafia, and was put into a bad place for a bit, thankfully I was small town naive, and got off easy. I left town very fast, not looking back. The town was/is run by crooked pols who have embedded into all areas of business. I do not trust any chicago-groomed politicians, so I have a personal quest to see that obama does not get into the white house.
I really don’t give a darn if a Rep is trying to convert me. What I care about is this country. The worst thing that could happen is an BO administration. I’ll join the Republicans, Nader, Cynthia McKinney to prevent the biggest disaster to befall our great nation.

I have no answers to your questions and have asked the same thing but no one seems to know how he can be a Prez without us knowing who he really is or have a clearance.
I have voted dem my whole life, and for the first time am reconsidering the dem values. I am not onboard totally with repubs, but have learned that sometimes life experiences will cause a shift in your beliefs. I am starting to see that the dem style of coddling and enabling these who (believe they are) down-trodden has thus caused this group of people to feel unempowered and angry. Obama feeds into these people for his power. This is leaving a bad taste in my gut, as the dem theory is to use these demographics for their political agenda. I am a disgusted dem, looking for a new place to go.

Mick, so far there are 11 people that have voted Rep in the past (that have mentioned it today) and there have been several confrontations that have angered PUMAs that were on the blog from the beginning that have left because of it. I wouldn’t be mentioning this if I didn’t think it was important. I think that anyone that comes on a democratic blog has to be aware there are settle differences in political beliefs at times and it ruffles feathers when we have enough drama just getting though this corrupt election. Oh how I remember the tears I shed at various times during the primary season; and how sad I was when it finally sank in for me that it was over and there was never going to be Hillary as president. Like you, I was sad and disappointed for a long while.
I was raised by parents who really believed in the democratic party. I was a young child when JFK was president but I remember that era with MLK and the changes that were going on in America.
When I got older I continued the tradition of voting democratic. But this year I just cannot do that – and it makes me sad. Like you, I’m not becoming a republican, but I am not voting for Obama.

Will not be watching any CNN, NBC, CBS, MSNBC in protest of their biased coverage and cheap cuts at Palin. Also will not watch anyone who is in the tank for BO. They simply do not see who he is and what he plans to do to America.
If Obama wins, I and others will simply leave the states that love his welfare programs and allow them to fall down on themselves since that is what he wants for America.
He did it in Chicago. His friends got millions in federal dollars to renovate housing and it fell apart in four to six years leaving many of his constitutants homeless or freezing in homes with no roofs, no heat, no water, no protection. When people called Obama and Rezko asking for help they did not answer the phones. But Rezko and friends got rich and bought Obama a house.
Obama did it again to the Chicago schools which are the worst in the nation. They used nearly 200 million dollars which were to be applied to the school system for improvements for the students. Instead Obama and Ayers gave each other money for their projects, Ayers hired a few more weather underground members to radicalize the children, test scores remained failing, and the schools or children’s lives did not improve. But Ayers and Obama got rich. Oh Yeah, they also gave that money to their wives special interests where they worked and then their wives got raises!
Obama wants a big election night party in Chicago but will have to foot the bill because Chicago is now BROKE. Great job Senator. You got yourself and a handful of friends a lot of money but you Broke the housing, you Broke the public schools, and you Broke the city.

It was not a mistake that he sat in Rev. Wright’s church who was also associated with ACORN. It was not a mistake that Rezko and Obama worked together to bring down Chicago housing. It was not a mistake that George Soros bought moveon.org and it backs Obama and tell lies about Palin and McCain. Before Obama began his run for the Presidency, he had a meeting with Soros then announced he was running. All of these people and organizations are connected with each other and they all want to take down the United States.

Re Todd, Murphy I strongly believe you had been victimized a “sting operation” to destroy yours and Pumas’ credibility. Some wicked Obama supporter, knowing how successful PUMA had become in attacking the fraudulent and the dishonest in the Obama campaign thought up this awful “sting”. Present a “victim” to the press, complete with pictures and act out a skit about being beaten by an “O” supporter. Once you’ve picked up the appalling “news” and moved to denounce it to your readers, the “police” or the Obama loving MSM expose the ‘LIE’ you have been sucked into denouncing.
I refuse to accept that this “sting” comes solely from the demented mind of Todd. She may be crazy but she is more likely complicit in destroying the credibility of Obama’s opponents. There something wrong with this person, just like the reporter who reported hearing kill him (Obama) at a campaign rally. The secret service was all over the place and heard nothing.

New here – I’m a conservative Republican who read the stories of what BO did to Hillary supporters during the caucus and was shocked. In fact, a lot of things about BO shock me – I regard this as a very well organized attempted coup. I think anyone who thinks BO is Mr. Innocent could start by reading the complaint Hillary’s campaign wrote about the caucus activities.
At this point I wish that Hillary were the opposing candidate – McCain or Hillary, either way we’d be ok – but NObama!
I just have one question – why is Hillary making campaign appearances for BO? We were all hoping she had info on him that would torpedo him but somehow it hasn’t happened. In fact, I was hoping that maybe Hillary was behind the birth certificate issue but now I guess not.
If it looks like the group here can get some more action on the birth certificate issue I will help and will notify a bunch of people and I think at least some of them will help.
