Just received an email describing the desertedness of shopping malls and big stores. Empty Home Depots, malls bereft of mothers with baby carriages, day care centers with empty toddler rooms. I hate shopping and avoid it like the Daily Kos, so I’m a pretty poor judge, but what about you Pumas? Have you noticed a somewhat sudden downturn? Are orders down at your small business? Do you know of layoffs among your family and friends?

(Oh, and apparently Obama’s grandmother is “gravely ill” with a broken hip. That’s why Obama has to”RUSH” to Hawaii in a few days. The woman is 85 years old, and a fall or broken bone for someone very elderly often DOES indicate something quite serious, BUT, no one in the campaign will elaborate or even hint at WHAT might be ailing her. She had a broken hip and was released from the hospital a couple weeks ago — back to her own apartment. TRANSPARENCY for the Obama Campaign. It’s what’s missing. Oh, and another thing, please alert me when any of the Puma sites (or even any repub sites) start ridiculing and humiliating the elderly lady. I’m SURE some Pumas will be posting pictures of the grandmother on the floor of her apartment, unable to get up. Right? Right?)

I was watching Fox news and they had a doctor on saying that the candidates must disclose their medical records.
He looked at McCains and said he is in great health, at his perfect weight, has pain but does not take pain killers and the past cancer issues is basically a non-issue.

Sales on Walmart is down, employees are worried they might not have a job if NObama wins the election. His tax increase will make big corporations like Walmart laid off some workers, full time workers will become part time, prices of basic commodities will rise.
We are in recession for so many months since early part of this year, but nobody wanted to talk about it. NObama and Democrats in Congress will increase our taxes from the bottom all the way up, there’s no tax cut! If you don’t get hit with taxes in your Income Tax Return, you will get your tax increase in basic commodities you buy every day! That in turn will move US Economy from recession to depression.
Watch your spending, don’t buy anything that is not necessary.

Parents Outraged Over Baby Doll They Say Mumbles Pro-Islam Message
A doll some are claiming utters pro-Islam and even satanic messages has outraged parents in Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.
People insist they can hear Fisher-Price’s “Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Cuddle and Coo” mumbling “Islam is the light” and “Satan is king,” according to KJRH.com and MyFOXKC.com.
“There’s no markings on the box to indicate there’s anything Islamic about this doll,” said Gary Rofkahr of Owasso, Okla., who was at work when another man brought the toy in to show his colleagues.
Rofkahr said he found various versions of the doll at local Target and Wal-Mart stores, which have since pulled the toys from their shelves, reported KJRH.com.
Pennsylvania Targets have also reportedly stopped selling the doll, according to MyFOXKC.com.
Fisher-Price referred all calls to parent company Mattel, which didn’t immediately respond to FOXNews.com’s requests for comment.
A Target representative told KJRH.com the company has no plans to recall the doll nationwide.

Here goes, I watched Barak in Florida, he had google ceo, and bill richardson LOLOLOL and some more very impressionable people, i tried to watch and understand, but it just seemed to me, that everything Barak and all these others called for, was government help in backing all these new energy policies, is no one but t boone picket rich enough to work on energy, does the government have to do it all, and that brings me to my most important issue, if bush has been so bad, then where id barak gonna get all this money.
Personally, I would like to think, people would take their money and invest it where their mouths are, if they have any money. Wouldnt you think Donal Trump would be investing in Solar for his new real estate deals, how about all these hollywood elites, do they have solar panels, how about Oprah? They alone could boost the solar demand alone without anyone else.
As far as the malls, i havent been a vigorous shopper for many moons other than Christmas at the malls, when i actually just go to buy some things and see the decorations and feel the spirit of it all. Perhaps, the credit card people are getting by with keeping their high interest rates steady and holding and not giving an inch and refuse to participate in helping the consummer. If this is indeed a crisis, shouldnt all be involved?

When I read about Hillary’s speech in Florida a few days ago, I couldn’t believe it. It was such an eye opener, that she was able to put aside her personal feelings about her former opponent to embrace the

Its really pointless to be dissappointed in what others say or do because we will be forever dissappointed. Just like whoever said that Hillary is a Puma. That is how the person feels. My hubby was on a 3 day week 3 weeks ago, but is back on full time now. My business is down to a trickle. My work load is 1/10 of what it was 1 year ago. I am looking for another job to subsidize. Of course, being a real estate appraiser is fool hardy at this time.
I had a ‘pre’ interview two weeks ago as a helper in a cabinet maker’s architect’s office. I talked with them yesterday, and they have decided not to fill that position right now. Their business has taken a dive. They lost several big orders in the last month.
We have had at least 4 shops downtown (10,000 pop town) close in the last 6 months. Our housing starts are the lowest since 1958. We have two strip malls and a large office complex that are showing more than 50% vacancy.
On the bright side, the ethanol plant just produced its first run of alcohol. A new aluminum recycling plant goes on line in a few weeks. A local machine shop just expanded, hiring 15 more people permanently.
Just got off the phone with BO headquarters. I asked when the Messiah was going to release his medical records. The guy couldn’t “find” anything regarding that on his computer. I asked when we were going to get a chance to review BO’s thesis. He didn’t know about that either. I asked about his college transripts, no on that too. Then I asked about his birth certificate and asked if that is why he was going to Hawaii. I said the one on the web site was a fake and as a voter in Illinois I insist on viewing his birth certificate.
The guy went into alot of ahs’ ur’s etc and then I told him to get off the hope dope before it is too late and I hung up! What fun!!
Well yesterday my husband went to work and they are going down to a 3 day work week for the rest of the year with 1 whole week off at the end of the month and the last two weeks of Dec off. My son lost his job 3 weeks ago. I havent noticed a change in Walmarts parking lot.

I do know that with utility companies, for example, acording to state laws each individual state requires them to have a certain % of renewables by a specific date. For example, one state might require that by 2010 the utility companies have to have 20% of renenwables as part of their energy production.
TAXPAYERS of each state pay for these renewables by rate increases. The devolpers of the renewables (such as one that constructs a windfarm pays for the windfarm — so that is private resoures). The states are the big drivers in renewables.
Where the feds come in, is let’s say the infrastructure is old or needs developed in order to incorporate the renewables, then the government would get involved in paying for developing or improving the infrastructure.
Bottomline, state taxpayer have to pay for most of their energy improvements and our federal taxes and the feds help pay for the infrastructures to support the renewables.
Finally, the feds get involved in international energy purchases which, of course, the $$$ for that would somehow come from us.

Because i didnt have Ins I could not be under a Dr’s care continuously when i had kidney issues so my temp disability was denied~ after being out for 30 from work, they had to dismiss me. I was told I am available for rehire, but it was a 200 miles a day round trip and my money bought gas and waited for a 4 wk reimburstment to get my money back~ I now can not afford my Ins for the car, and cant leave at 3 am because no one is here with my 9 yr old daughter so therefore I can not return to that job~
as far as C/S~ it isnt paid like it should be and if i get 2 payments a month~ I consider that lucky.

The AA guy at the gym that made me so angry the other day (voting for BO because “Obama gonna solve all our problems when he gets to paint the white house black and put a barBQ pit in the backyard”) was there again today debating w/ a small bushiness owner. Stores, walmart, costco etc… all still busy. Parking lots full. I was just saying to my husband the other day, as we drove by a number of restaurants….parking lots full and people waiting outside for tables.
Husband is in construction, he took a job in another city 1 1/2 years ago cuz no work here. Moved down to 3days week since Easter, moved to 1 day a week day after bailout. Now nothing. But the company wont let him go and insist he is avail to work when needed. We are now fighting with unemployment for benefits as an attached employee so we dont lose the house. BUT they are so busy, so far this month they have gotten 70,000 applications.
But people are shopping and eating out.

Unfortunately, I don’t have time to read the blog entries (so someone may have mentioned this), but just wanted to say that I’m so glad McCain filed a complaint with NBC because they refused to air Biden’s comments about the first 6 months of an Obama presidency (and how we should expect problems in the international realm). I’m glad the Republican Party finally got on this. They should be making a huge deal about the MSM’s one-sided reporting and blatant omissions. I’m off to file my own e-mail complaint with NBC. Best.

Gas prices are down over a dollar in the last few weeks.
I think the financial ’silence’ we are seeing means people are holding their collective breath.
All I can say is don’t worry, the stocks will bounce back up, they always do. The rich fuckers will want their fortunes topped up, or I believe they will loose their heads (figuratively and literally). They must feel the buzz in the air, people are royally pissed off. It wouldn’t take much to set that kindling alight.

Delaying the World Series is a sacrilege in the USA. I was surprised when I read that but continuiing through the article, it always comes down to the bottom line.

I was listening to Hannity on the radio and he played Palin giving one of her speeches…. and she was talking about Biden’s comment regarding promising an international crisis during the first 6 months of a BO presidency. She was outlining what she thought might be the 4 or 5 causes for it that Biden had mentioned… you know… Pakistan, the usual stuff for #1-4…. but… I’m STILL LAUGHING at #5. If you didn’t hear it, it was PRICELESS… It went something like this: The fifth one is Biden’s next press conference (or something like that)…. when she said it, my gosh it was HILARIOUS!!!! Senior citizens of America: Your Medicare benefits are safe; the Democrat nominee for president is not. Health-care reform is one of the most important issues in this campaign, and voters deserve an honest discussion of the issue.
Unfortunately, despite pledging to campaign according to a “new type of politics,” Barack Obama has adopted one of the oldest tricks in politics: Hide the truth about your own policies, attack the opponent. Let’s review the facts.
Sen. Obama has recently launched one of the most dishonest and distorting ads in recent memory. The ad falsely claims that Senator McCain will “cut Medicare benefits” to pay for his health-care plan.
Apparently Sen. Obama is against eliminating Medicare fraud that allows criminals to make millions by charging for fake procedures, payment reforms that will provide coordinated and more effective care for our seniors, and new treatment models that will better manage chronic-care diseases. These are among the reforms that Sen. McCain has proposed for Medicare.
Not one senior will be dropped from the rolls. Not one cut will occur. Instead, seniors will receive higher quality care at lower cost and reduced premiums.
Another ad misleadingly accuses John McCain of taxing health insurance for the first time, leading to the largest middle-class tax increase in history. In reality, the tax code will subsidize — not tax — health insurance both before and after the McCain reforms.
It is true that the reform will make that subsidy more fair — providing the same help to rich and poor regardless of the source of their insurance. This is a powerful way to reduce the number of uninsured, which is why even Sen. Obama’s own economic policy adviser has advocated for a refundable tax credit like the one proposed by Sen. McCain. And there is no tax increase.
A final ad accuses Sen. McCain of sending the tax credit straight to insurance companies. American families can choose which policy best fits their family, and the insurance company that provides it. At that point, the funds will be transferred to the insurance company of their choice.
The flood of distorting ads is apparently intended to change the subject from Barack Obama’s plan. He will mandate that parents cover their children and fine them if they don’t. He will mandate employers provide the insurance Barack Obama dictates, or face a fine if they don’t. He refuses to explain either fine, and his top health adviser recently told the Wall Street Journal that they have no plans to come clean before the election.
Barack Obama’s plan will cause almost 50 million Americans to lose the health coverage they currently have. It has been estimated to cost more than $240 billion annually — a financial burden of more than $3,000 per American family.
When the kids and employees are forced into the government-run plan, America will be closer to the government-run, single-payer health-care system Barack Obama has said he wished America had.
Health care reform is too important an issue to limit to 30 second sound-bites. But when a presidential candidates’ plan does as much damage to the existing health-care system as Sen. Obama’s, it’s understandable why he would want to avoid talking about it.

We saw this coming so we have paid off the farm with this years farm earnings and savings, kept much of the harvest for canning & freezing. So Farm income was down.

That is why when one is acting “pro se” (on one’s own behalf) one of the tactics is to bombard the legally inexperienced with so many motions, and pleadings that there is relatively little chance to look up all of the case law to support a response.
In Berg’s case against Obama? Obama would be taking a HUGE RISK to go on record with a “denial” if there is any chance that Berg is correct.
I also know that Obama and his legal team know all too well that the other side could very well be “holding, can gain, or awaiting disclosure of certain pieces of supportive evidence” to his claims.
My bet is that Obama’s best and only defense is stall and delay. This forces Berg to keep expending money by filing new motions on such non-responses and even the Judge’s failure to make a timely ruling on Berg’s current motions to a higher court.
It is all such a fricking game of legal chess, that no individual stands a chance in our court system without huge sums of cash for a lawyer or a law or paralegal degree — and the ability to devote all of their time to work on their case.
Now. The big question that I believe Berg has already answered – why hasn’t Obama and his Huge TEAM of lawyers simply answered with the documents?
In my case – because they had already stood up in court and said they didn’t exist – hoping that I had not kept copies.
In Obama’s case — is it because he has already stood up before the American people and claimed he is qualified (already holding offices) – hoping that this would never come to light?

Federal Election Commission Files Motion to Dismiss for Lack of Proper Jurisdiction
Because of its status as a government entity, the Federal Election Commission was given until today to file an answer to the original complaint filed by attorney Philip Berg on August 21, 2008. This afternoon, the FEC met that deadline when it filed a motion to dismiss for lack of subject matter jurisdiction, answering Berg’s complaint by arguing that he “lacks standing to raise the issue of a candidate’s constitutional eligibility.”
“Moreover,” the motion reads, “even if Berg had standing to raise the constitutional eligibility issue, the Commission should be dismissed as a party to this case because it has no oversight over the Constitution’s Presidential Qualifications Clause.”

Back in August, it was the Uhurus who disrupted Nobo’s rally in St. Petersburg, asking what he was going to do for AAs.
A number of years ago, it was the Uhurus who rioted and burned the city to protest a (justified) shooting of an AA youth by a white police officer (the youth tried to run the officer down w/his car–it was self-defense). My daughter’s pediatrician was injured when a brick was thrown through her windshield. The area that was burned was an area of businesses that serve the AA community, including a business that assists people in financing their purchases. This was a couple of miles from my home. Not only could I smell the smoke, a helicopter flew so close to the top of my house I thought it was going to land in my back yard.
The Uhurus don’t tend to endorse candidates for any office and I was unable to find out whether they endorse anyone for president. But (in my opinion) they are militant and are not at all adverse to violence.
Tropicana Field is about 1-2 miles from my house.
BTW, my daughter and I are both white and we live in a neighborhood that is very diverse–by design.

Because all elections are as they say “local” any election in any state can be postponed …even before the FISA gave the Pres. the right…by the Gov, Sec. of State, Attorney General, Election Board or legislature of any state….and they can claim any result invalid and hold a new election if enough fraud is found, complaints filed, or suspision of any other legal issue…all elections are dictated by the states themselves and in reality don’t all have to be on Nov. 4th as long as the results for and the delegates meet in december in time to submit the results to congress to be approved by congress….Oh that one you didn’t know about….yeh the final word in the election of the Pres. is still in the congress approving and holding the vote of the delegates votes sent to them………..People in this country are so very very uneducated when it comes to elections and especially the Presidential election.

This has been my life experience:
anyone over 40 basically grew up with “racist” inclinations – in one form or another.
Our racist history has had a deep and long-term affect on the African American culture.
I simply do not believe that is the driving force behind much of the opposition to Obama.
I cannot speak for those who may still be reacting to Obama through their “racially-charged belief systems”.
I have seen and heard it (racial slurs against him), but I also have heard from several deeply, politically involved people that many in their “groups” once favored him over Hillary and McCain, but have now changed their minds – as he changed his positions, campaign practices and “transparent policy”.

So far I am not feeling it but others clearly are in Northern California. I hate to shop but noticed packed parking lots at two locations this past weekend so was tempted to see what the attraction was. There were substantial ‘going-out-of-business’ sales at Linens ‘n Things, NJ-based housewares stores and Mervyn’s department store chain. Both companies have filed for bankruptcy and are liquidating. Spoke to one woman working in Linens n’ Things to express how sorry I was that she would be losing her position. Her response was that she was only a part-time employee and it was the full-time people who were devastated. This is just the beginning.

Why is Barack Obama delaying his arrival in Honolulu?
Could it be because Andy Martin is there, and Obama is waiting for Martin’s departure before The Chosen One lands?
(HONOLULU, HI)(October 21, 2008) This column is just a short response to Barack Obama’s strange behavior. We will have a full column (Part Two) later today after lunch. (Remember we are on Hawai’i time, so the columns come out much later on the mainland.)
Obama suddenly announced Monday his grandmother had been gravely ill for weeks. He has his own plane. All he had to do is tell the pilot to file a flight plan for Honolulu and take off. He’s the king of his own armada.
But instead of rushing to his grandmother’s bedside, Obama is waiting until I leave Honolulu before he lands.
Ask yourself, “What would I do?” What would you do if you had your own plane and mom or dad suddenly took ill? Would you tell the pilot to set course for Hawai’i, or tell him to wait three (3!) days before coming to your relative’s bedside? How sick is she if Obama is will to delay his “emergency” for three days?
This entire episode is becoming curiouser and curiouser.
If his grandmother is sick enough to suspend his campaign, why is he “suspending” it days late? Curiouser and curiouser.
Last night I was out doing interviews that had to be postponed because of Hawai’i Supreme Court litigation during the day. My cell phone kept ringing with people wanting to alert me, and warn me of possible harm from Obama with his imminent arrival here. I do not believe Obama, or even his more rabid supporters, will try to cause me physical harm. They are too busy measuring for carpet and drapes in the White House.
But I do believe there is a powerful awareness on Obama’s part that I have been pursuing his lies for four years, and we are closing in on his secret truths. The negative karma must be overwhelming. The thief always knows when he is about to be caught. (“Book’em, Danno?”)
No one (except the groveling mainstream media) seems to believe Obama’s grandmother is so ill that, in light of their past relationship, she merited a campaign suspension (more on that later today).
Strange as it seems to me, we are apparently getting to Obama, and he is increasingly afraid of the David in this David and Goliath (Obama) drama.
Is Obama trying to avoid me? (We leave Honolulu Wednesday night and he arrives “Thursday.”) You be the judge.

The problem is you have so many people posting on your threads – and yes that is great – but there is no way I have the time to read all the comments to find if, for example, someone has responded to my post, or to see how others respond to posts others made. I loved the format of TalkLeft (can’t stand them but loved the format). I also liked the rating of comments. Three funds are active, the BO Campaign Fund, The Obama Victory Fund and the DNC Fund. They padded the BO Campaign numbers with a transfer of $32.5 million to get him over the $150 million mark.
If you disregard the Transfers, BO recieved $121 mil, the Victory Fund recieved $69 mil, and the DNC recieved $16 mil, totalling $205.5 mil. They spent $161 mil and netted $44.5 mil.
To compare this to what they claim as receipts, they show $153 mil for BO, $69 mil for VF and $42 mil for the DNC.
As Closing Cash on Hand BO has $133 mil, VF has $4 mil and the DNC has $23 mil.

I crossed paths with Joe the Plumber over the weekend and found him to be a common-sense, down-to-earth guy who knows a lot more than just pipes.
Asked about his exchange with Barack Obama on the candidate’s tax plan, he said Mr. Obama was a smooth talker but not a good listener. He seemed mistakenly to think Joe was already making a lot of money, not merely that he hoped someday to own a business that would make over $250,000 a year. “I don’t make nearly that much now, but I hope to in the business I buy someday,” Mr. Wurzelbacher told me.
Mr. Obama also muffed details of his own tax plan, confusing a small business’s revenue and net income, and the tax rate that would apply under his proposals. He also seemed hazy about the Flat Tax, put forward by Steve Forbes and Dick Armey a decade ago, confusing it with proposals for a national sales tax and saying the rate would have to go to 40%. “I was talking about one thing, and he was answering me about something else,” Mr. Wurzelbacher recalls.
The Heartland Institute, a free-market think tank in Chicago, points out that a flat tax would let Americans see exactly how much government costs in one easy, transparent and accountable tax. Mr. Obama’s reforms, in contrast, would only add to the thousands of loopholes, exemptions and complications of the current 67,000 page tax code. “A candidate for president should at least know the difference between a flat tax and a national sales tax,” Heartland concludes. “But both a flat tax and a national sales tax are head and shoulders over the convoluted tax system we have now.”

I was listening to the local conservative radio station this morning (it is the only thing here that isn’t in the tank for BO, and I can’t stand listening to all the stuff about how he is the Messiah), and a man called in to the show. He said that he had come up with a way to guarantee that BO does not win the election.
He went on to say that Pres. Bush has a very low approval rating. Maybe McCain needs to go talk to Pres Bush and have Bush come out with an endorsement for BO.

RE number of posts on the blog… I co-own a support group for my eye disease Fuchs’ Dystrophy (it’s a yahoo group FuchsSupport, and one of our websites is http://www.fuchsdystrophy.org) … we have over 1250 members from around the world in there, and our posting board generally has about 35-50 posts a day. What is interesting is that probably over 50% of the people we put in start howling that they just don’t have time to read the posts (not even when they come in digests of 25 posts per digest). It is really alarming is that this is something to try to help people in our group from GOING BLIND. That, apparently, isn’t important enough to spend a few minutes a day on for many people. My co-owner and I get more frustrated than I can say here about it. Just thought I’d share that with you, Murphy….

I thought it was a small sacrifice for a greater good. And I cast my ballot for McCain and Repubs down the line except for one democrat who happened to be female.
Today, i feel insulted and defiled when I read that “Hillary Clinton is a PUMA”. While she may be the reason I’m here, and while I worked hard to see her nominated, history shows it wasn’t meant to be. I accepted that as best I could.
But, was it two days ago? Hillary appeared in Florida by Obama’s side and encouraged us all to vote for him, telling the crowd this man is fit to lead America. I almost gagged. Hillary is an amazing woman and would have been a great President I think. But all women are amazing.

Some people here did not see Hillary in Florida. It was on TV and it caused me to cry. The pain of watching her speak for him so forcefully crushed me. I cryed most of the rest of the day and some the next day. I am still not fully recovered. Might take a long time.

The acceptance of the truth is the acknowledgement of abuse and the statement that abuse is never acceptable. The proper role for forgiveness is to hold the abuser accountable and demand that the abuser say he is sorry for abusing people and he will not abuse again. It is most important that he not be allowed to abuse again.
What Hillary did was wrong. She said to the world and to all women to accept the past abuse of Obama without him statine he will never do it again. She called upon all of us who were abused by Obama to work for Obama and help him get elected. Hillary looked for the solution to the problem in us instead of in Obama. I will not accept rewarding the abuser. Hillary is wrong here. She is helping to perpetuate Abuse of Women by validating Obama’s abuse and helping him to get away with it.
Sorry Hillary but you are dead nuts wrong here. But I will look past it and give you another chance if you promise to never support an abuser again. Especially wrong is to support an abuser who abuses women.

I shop at Bon Tons. They always seem to be busy enough. They aren’t cheap. I wait for a sale (25%).
I buy my books and C.D. from Amazon. Otherwise I buy collectible china cats online from Lenox. These are pricey, so I don’t think they will be that busy this Christmas..

I live in heavy Obama territory, but still manage to find lots of McCain yard signs every day as I drive and expand my “catchment area”! I’ve found that a fair percentage of those with McCain yard signs talk about having friends, aquaintances, colleagues, church members, etc. who are Dems. They are extremely interested in materials to give them about caucus fraud, about JSND sites, etc. So, for anyone using this approach (knocking on doors of McCain households to urge them to make calls in swing states), I now recommend bringing along materials you can give those who want some to give to their Obama supporter friends.

I might not see an important post if I pass over a particular topic thread (as an example).

He wants to hike the dividend tax, and he also has promised taxes on gas and energy.
Obama also wants to dramatically increase the estate tax, which had almost disappeared. There goes your idea of sharing your wealth with your kids in the future.
Obama Lie No. 3 — I want to make America
more secure.
Another outright lie.
In an age when crazies like Iran’s Ahmadinejad are building ballistic missiles and promise to “destroy” the United States and Israel, Obama has promised to gut the missile defense program created by President Reagan.
“I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems,” Obama said.
He has promised to cut “tens of billions” of dollars from the Defense Department. In an effort to make us more “secure,” Obama plans to disarm us.

The economy in the Pacific Northwest. Sigh. Not like this is a new subject out here. We COULD (are capable of) having a Booming timber industry but things on federal lands have been tied up in lawsuits for so long, no hope is in sight.
Fortunately forestry on state lands continues as it should, and so some schools have funding and some local communities are OK. Because Oregon has some of the most productive forestlands (i.e., SOIL for growing TREES) in the WORLD. In the WORLD, PUMA’s. Please believe me since my original college degree was in forestry.
So yeah, we COULD have a much BETTER economy “If Only.” If only what, you ask?
The forests out here are very overstocked = prone to insects & disease = Unhealthy.
I’m a liberal and I used to like to shock all of my liberal friends by telling them that the Best Thing (only thing) good about George Bush was that his advisers alerted him to the backlog of basless appeals to timber sales and his staff went about trying to unlock the timber wars by earnestly making things possible to do thinnings.
So that was the One Good Thing Bush did. But he didn’t do very much of it.
I’ll cut to the chase & answer the question posted up top.

* Fewer people in the stores
* Concerts not selling out
* More clothes on sale at Macy’s & fewer shoppers buying them
* More homes for sale (many more)
* Next door neighbor lost his job & house on the market for 5 mos now

* Used to be that homes for sale had flyers out front with the PRICE on them; now they leave the price off = “open for discussion.” Pretty bad.
* People in the supermarkets (& me sometimes) look like they are stopping and staring at every purchase before they throw it into the cart.

I would love for this API story to be true, but my gut says it’s a hoax. Jeff Schreiber, at America’s Right, is in daily contact with Philip Berg and at this point to believes that it is a hoax too.
IF Fox News is really taking a look at it, (which I doubt), then Fox will be 100% sure of it’s accuracy before they report it. I still believe that the whole story is bogus and it’s purpose was to distract anti-Obama peeps and make them look like fools.
Again, I will be happy to admit that I am wrong if it’s the real deal.

397 hillstheone I can relate to that. I worked in forestry for 25+ years, mostly in Oregon, but also in California, Washington, Idaho and Montana.
I was going for a degree in Forestry in Eugene in the 70’s but was warned by professors that such work was going to dry up.
I believe that greed was the thing that did in Forestry. We were close to achieving our goals of sustained yield forestry, when someone got the bright idea to export.
Slaughter is the only word I can think of for what happened to our prime timberland. For 20 some years I worked mainly in Reforestation. but that ended with the invasion of illegals, mostly Hispanics who would do the work cheaper than the legals (us) could do it.
I used to hate the sierra Club with a passion, but the environmental damage from that slaughter will take generations to repair.
I would say it’s a fair estimate that I have planted at least 1 1/2 million trees with my own hands and anoter 50 million running planting crews.
i would just like to say for what its worth, I wish Hillary was on the ticket. It sure would be hard for me not to vote for her. I am rep could never vot for bo. agianst my moral code. but if it was hillary i would cross party lines to vote for her.

Yeah, the sympathy vote reason occurred to me too, but geez that is desperate.
It never dawn on me I would be involve in something personal. My asian friend called me, her daughter received her absentee ballot. Her friends are telling her to vote for NObama because its the coolest thing to do. I went to her place right away, didn’t even take the time to dress up properly (jogging pants and sweat shirt) and talk to her daughter. My friend can’t believe peer pressure being put on her daughter by NObama supporters. Her daughter voted for straight Republican ticket. I told her if her friends ask her who she voted for, to tell them she voted for Mickey Mouse.

QUESTION- Those, like me, who have been going out boostering for McCain/Palin: Do you see the atmosphere changing? I’m talking about Campaign fatigue… it’s been going on too long. I’ve been doing this since about 4 weeks after Murphy started this blog.
People are remembering the promises Obama made during the primaries, now he’s saying totally the opposite. People are noticing this, are offended by it.
They’re also noticing that McCain is consistant.
In all this time I haven’t spoken with ONE person that’s been polled. Also, since the ’socialism’ topic has come up, those I speak to are more wary of O. Also lots being turned off by the attacks on Palin.
Is this just in my area?

I recieved a call last week inquering as to who I was supporting and why? I told them I was voting for John McCain, They asked me when I had made that decision? I said since June 3rd 2008. They asked me if I would be voting for Senator Smith ( who at one time I thought was to arrogant. His son took his own life a year or so ago. I don’t know why but Gordon Smith appers to have some humility, as does John McCain)… The caller asked me if I was sure of my decsion, or was there a chance I might change my mind. You mentioned that maybe I could edit the letter… I copied it to try to fit it in my schedule, but I’m just very busy now with a project & deadline and I was probably too late anyway. Something to note is that most newspapers have a word limit of between 150 to 250 words, and usually reject letters that go over that. That one had 370 words… so by editing & cutting it down a bit (if it’s not too late) it should be fine.

The media acts as if the public has short term memory loss. NoHillaryNoVote posted a comment last week that reminded me of their deceitfulness in this campaign. Whenever a story hits that is positive about McCain, the press rewrites it. She had mentioned that the AP did that regarding the debate performance.
CNN had a focus group that stated BO won the debate but they were voting for McCain because of the trust factor. That segment wasn’t reaired and it was not posted on their website.
The media is in the tank for BO. They may be able to erase the media content but they can’t control our votes, ideas, or thoughts. BO is bad for America.

Original suit from Berg V Obama in Federal court; Steve Marquiz (kez) modified suit to target WA Sec. of State (chief elections official for WA) to demand WA SoS receive copy of BC; I modified Marquiz v Reed for CA and figured out which changes had to be made so this could be filed in each state; recruiting efforts for localizing to other states has been done through obamacrimes.com
The document is a demand through lawsuit against each state’s chief elections official to get a copy of the Vault BC from Hawaii and any additional hospital documents attesting to Obama’s birth.
Since our federal laws are national, the majority of the document is the same for all states. Each state does require some effort to localize to state statutes and chief elections official is properly named. The complaint template is designed specifically to allow for easy identification of what needs changed and so that it can be filed in most jurisdictions.
The work needed to research for each state can be done by an average person in a day and probably filed the next day. What you need to know is who is your state-wide elections official, how are candidates placed on the ballot, and what legal mechanism must the candidate do to provide the state-wide elections official with credentials (proof of US citizenship by natural birth).
States with prepared documents are CAlifornia, Texas, and Florida. Ohio is pending and very murky. I do not have any other states prepared – and Washington State document is not court ready. I am going to ask for volunteers to help prepare documents for other states so that we can get as many as quickly as possible. There is obviously work for all states and some states may deny based on local time rules as the election is so very close upon us; it may be possible to get this going in every state by the end of the week.
If you are capable of producing a document even just for your state, I would be glad to host a copy at my own website for further redistribution to as many as possible.
It may very well be possible to get enough challenges filed that we not only grind this election to a halt, but that we succeed in removing Obama from those same ballots.
To join an existing filing you will need to provide your name, address, phone, and signature. This can be emailed to me for distribution to the person who is handling that state filing. I am making best effort to keep this organized so that we can surge individual states with existing filings.
Arizona Voters: I will be preparing your state’s document tonight, late. You have the biggest piece of the puzzle to force Obama’s hand. Your state requires a candidate to produce an affidavit of candidacy stating they meet USC qualifications. We can use this to corner Obama to validate his affidavit.

Gas prices have gone down and there’s been a little rebound in the markets, McCain/Palin have been able to identify with the middle class via Joe, the plumber, Biden’s big “internal crisis” gaffe…all going into the pot at the tail end here giving me some hope that the Independents and undecideds will consider a more sane vote. CHICAGO – The only “agent of change” Princess ever supported was the person who freshened the water in her fishbowl.
So election officials in Chicago’s northern suburbs want to know why voter registration material was sent to the dead goldfish.
“I am just stunned at the level of people compromising the integrity of the voting process,” said Lake County Clerk Willard Helander, a Republican, who said she has spotted problems with nearly 1,000 voter registrations this year.
Beth Nudelman, who owned the fish, said Princess may have landed on a mailing list because the family once filled in the pet’s name when they got a second phone line for a computer.
“There was no fraud involved,” said Nudelman, a Democrat who supports Barack Obama. “This person is a dead fish.”
The paperwork sent to a “Princess Nudelman” likely came from the “Women’s Voices, Women Vote” project, which sent nearly 1 million mailings to Illinois households in August using a list that mistakenly included some pets, said Sarah Johnson, a spokeswoman for the not-for-profit group that encourages single women to vote.
The mailing list, purchased from a vendor, included names from warranties, magazine subscriptions and other sources, Johnson said. The group attempted to screen out obvious pet names.
“Fido’s not going to be left on there, but if a cat is named is Polly, she may be,” Johnson said. Princess could be a person’s name, she insisted. “I went to high school with two Princesses.”
Nudelman said the only address on the registration card was the Lake County clerk’s office. She said she wrote election officials a humorous note explaining why the fish was ineligible to vote.
The Illinois mailing generated 63,500 returned voter applications, Johnson said. Applicants were instructed to fill in a driver’s license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number so election officials would be able to validate their identity.
“We obviously don’t want to add more work for any election official,” Johnson said. “At the end of the day, our goal is same as theirs: To give as many people as possible the chance to make voices heard in our democracy.”
Steve Sturm, legal counsel for the Illinois State Board of Elections, said the mailing generated numerous complaints from residents throughout the state.
Lake County election officials contacted Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office Monday afternoon, said spokeswoman Robyn Ziegler. The sheriff’s office and state’s attorney’s office were “already working on it,” she said.
The McCain-Palin campaign has lately raised questions about the voter registration practices of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. ACORN is accused of submitting false registration forms for some of the voters it has registered. The FBI has joined nearly a dozen states in investigating.
Women’s Voices has worked with ACORN in the past, but the August mailing “has nothing to do with” ACORN, Johnson said.

However, here’s a thought. Suppose that whoever wins the election is CLOSE. Then the legal eagles get involved. With all of the thousands (if not millions) of fraudulent registrations, what would happen do you suppose? The whole ELECTION might be thrown out because it might be impossible/difficult to find out which votes were from fraudulent registrations and which weren’t. HOW could they solve the dilemma short of throwing the whole election out? If the whole election is thrown out, then Pelosi would be acting president, right? Think about it….

Yes, we have a huge economy here in CA and I think the fall is likely to be hard. A statistic I read the other day was that I believe it was 30% of foreclosures involve rentals so those poor people will suddenly be without a home. But we all have to hang in there and help one another the best we can. “There was a total lack of accountability. If you went back and asked, you’d be hard-pressed to find out how the money was spent,” said Paul Vallas, the city’s school superintendent when Obama chaired the Chicago Annenberg Foundation from 1995 to 1999…

I think BO’s going out there to squash whatever it is that Andy Martin’s doing – and what Phil Berg is doing. Maybe his first “vacation” was to determine the actions needed and steps to take to get what is needed.
What I find interesting is this lawsuit (Martin’s) was filed last week; BO’s gmother was released from the hospital, last week. Now she’s home, and is gravely ill, and MO’s not going. I don’t care how much MO doesn’t like the woman, it would look horrible for her (in the public’s eye) if she didn’t go see this poor lady if she was dying. And, this “grave illness”? (The C word comes to mind when I hear that. God, I hope not. I hope she’s fine.) But, still, I would think MO and the kids – especially – would go were there a chance she’s not going to be okay.
Nancy R broke her hip week before last. Didn’t go to the hospital for 3 days. She’s now home. . .and doing okay.
I just think he has, once again, used his poor, dear gmother to cover his true intentions. If that is true, I honestly don’t understand how he can sleep at night.
I think all these zillion of political ads for BO will backfire. I know if a product continues to badger me with a lot of ads, I will not buy it – I will buy from the competitor.

POLLS
I check many polls every day as well. And, I it’s common for folks to dismiss them when they’re not looking good for their candidate, and rejoice in them when things are looking promising. While, in my view polls have inherent problems and biases, ultimately, the respected polls have proven to be fairly good predictors of outcomes. And, when you see a trend over time, it’s usually indicative of something not easily dismissed. Like I posted a day or two ago, for me, it’s now down to the very basics: Make calls for McCain in swing states and try to get others to do the same. I’m having a lot of success reaching out to those with McCain/Palin yard signs and it’s incredible how ill informed many of them are: Don’t know about caucus fraud (of course, how would they?), don’t know about the Missouri prosecutor and sheriff issue, don’t know about McCain supporters being assaulted, etc. Many are a lot less complancent after a short conversation about some of these things.
Anyway, preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best and continuing to work toward the outcome we want.

Watch Palins interview with CNN’s Drew Griffin. I see nothing wrong with her and almost fall of my chair when she said the word “apologise”. When has our politician ever apologised – when they are caught cheating on their wives ? It seems so alien to have the word come from someone in politics. The other time she said that was when she apologized for being annoyed at Katie Couric ’s question regarding what newspapers she reads up there in Alaska. As long as I logged back on to thank Landi, just a quick note to say that I don’t recall lots of polls showing Obama winning that ended up as a Clinton win. But, my brain ain’t what it used to be! I recall some polls were very close, and the win was close. Other polls showed her ahead and she won. I’m going to go with everyone else’s recollection that the polls were way off and allow that to fuel me onward these next several days.

On the subject of MO and THAT ONE’s grandmother ….. I’ve not seen any family photos with MO and her. I can very well understand why MO would not acknowledge the WHITE grandmother. It is all so obvious.
That the great-grandchildren have not shown respect for her is something I find totally unforgiveable – especially when you listen to THAT ONE spout how indebted he is to her. It just goes to show ‘the content of his character’.

Last weeks Gallup Aggregates showed that showed McCain/BO at 42%/51% contained 23% more Democrats than Republicans in the sampling pool.
That is based on phone polling, including cell phones. In my opinion, that is just too easy to rig if you have enough money. I guess we will find out on election day.

I am simply saying that in other areas, things are not the same as where you are. I am giving an example of a city that of course was impacted by something beyond the extraordinary..even so..single people if they rent and make now 25,000 plus food would not at all go close to how far it went 10 years ago, even befor Katrina as we hit the 2000 years. I think inflation started to hit food prices almost 10 years ago and have consistently gone slowly up with no one noticing unless you lived as I did on a cash basis and not credit. I noticed…and not just food.

Hi Murphy, regarding the post for this thread, indeed, the malls are deserted on the weeknights, and sparsely populated on the weekends. I am trying to do my part, though I am normally a very frugal PUMA, spending more than usual, giving more to charity because I know people are hurting. In fact, I have three family members living with me, victims of hospital bills and small pension, and job loss, and mortgage foreclosure. I am glad to pay my fair share in taxes so that people with bad luck and circumstance have some safety net to fall back on. They say charity begins at home, and for the first time in my life I am practicing this.

I think that the law states that the file is sealed on the original birth certificate when a child is adopted. Maybe the court wants BO to state whether he does or doesn’t want the record unsealed. Another reason could be that Grandma has papers that need to be given to BO in person before she gets any closer to dying.
I still don’t believe that there is any love lost between MO and Typical White Person. That is my guess as to why she and the children didn’t visit her when they were on vacation there and why she isn’t going this time either-even if there may never be another opportunity.

I’ve never forgotten that question from my favorite former wife. We were in line, pre-divorce, to cast our votes in the 2000 election. I had struck up a conversation with a gentleman – we were reminiscing over previous elections – all the way back to our first opportunities to vote, when this person, shaking his head, remembered having to purchase a poll tax in order to vote in Texas elections.
At first, I was taken aback by my favorite exe’s question – it’s the history factor with me, thinking she should have known, but understanding quickly overcame wonder. She is from Ohio, where many old homes on the east side of a great river have hidden staircases leading to once-secret rooms, offered as a haven to those who traveled the Underground Railroad, and a state with no history of … poll taxes.
Going through my late father’s papers, I came across a Texas poll tax receipt dated from 1964, which cost him and every other Texan wishing to vote at that time in our history, $5.
The receipt not only stimulated thoughts of a favorite ex-wife, but what election time would be like in Texas were the poll tax still required before one could vote. After forty-two years, the poll tax would probably cost a Texan many times more than $5. In that aspect, the tax would still accomplish what it was intended to do. A person would still be forced to make a choice – put food on the table or vote – over what was meant to be a freedom with the only attachment being, citizenship required. From its inception, the poll tax was for one point and one point only: To interfere with the rights of certain citizens when they wished to vote.
Since the 1960s, eight of the 11 states that incorporated poll taxes have ratified the 24th Amendment, which outlawed the poll tax in national elections. Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas have yet to perform their sensical duties and ratify the 24th. It’s a no brainer why Mississippi has not admitted its wrongdoing. Arkansas seems in no hurry either, though a law was passed in that state near the end of World War II that allowed any soldier having served in the armed forces a poll tax exemption. On the other hand, Virginia, the first state to legally challenge the 24th and lose, ratified the amendment in 1977. North Carolina jumped onto the band wagon in 1989. Alabama, shadowed in Dixie, came to its senses in 2002.
Oh Texas, my Texas, what have you done to right the injustice? In 1963, the Legislature voted to repeal the 24th Amendment, and even continued charging a poll tax for local and state elections, rather backward moves, until the U.S. Supreme Court action of 1966 declaring poll taxes for any election – illegal. Ever since, successive Texas legislatures have evidently considered ratification of the 24th unimportant, while eight other Southern states have thought otherwise.
What does it say about our state leaders that so many of them over the years cannot commit to the fact that institution of the poll tax denied citizens their right to vote?

I gassed up in Cambridge when I saw a Shell station with regular 2.84 a gallon!!! Heh, I got taken by a pan handler, the guy comes up to me from the car adjacent with person with head on the steering wheel. Guy says “she just needs enough gas to get to J.P. “(Jamaica Plain {Boston}) I was like, gut says no… but I gave him 6$ anyway, then he got more money from a guy pulling out, then he jumps in the car and they speed off.
So much for needing that gas eh buddy! What can I say… thats life in the people’s republic. It will not make me stop giving to those I sense in need. But the ones I am not feelin’ it for… nope, not gonna do it. I am just so sensitive now, because I know a lot of my fellow Americans are hurting and its only going to get worse.

I’m really bothered by Biden’s comments. Why would he say this if it weren’t true? It’s pretty scary considering Nobama will sit down with Iran without preconditions; however, Iran’s preconditions to sit down with the US Pres are:

The person who hired the temps breaking into the passport files was an Obama advisor. Two of the temps were supposedly fired, and one was “disciplined” but not fired. The advisor was never challenged, investigated or even questioned in the msm. Nothing was made of it.
BO might have had more than one passport from his childhood?? His trip to Pakistan was thought to have been on his Indonesian passport, but when his mother divorced his step-father, could that have somehow changed his adoptive/citizenship /passport status? At one point his mother worked for the American embassy, too, I think at the time BO went there to visit her and his college friends. Maybe she pulled some strings at somepoint to get him an American passport.

I am so tired of hearing about Obama spending big bucks to run his infomercial on October 29th by trying to blanket MSM television airways.
I think we need to begin to promote a “Turn off Obama-TV” on October 29th.
I say – Do NOT Listen to or Watch Obama’s 30 minute commercial on October 29, 2008
Obama thinks he can MAKE us listen to what he has to say by spending all that money in order to have his commercial on several networks at the same time.
We do NOT have to listen. We do NOT have to support this gimmick.
We do not have to fall in line like the Democratic Party assumes we will do. We do not have to permit the gang in the so-called Democratic leadership – Dean, Frank, Pelosi, Reid & Brazile – continue to fantasize that they are leading us.
Mainstream media may be in the tank for Obama – but we are Americans and we have freedom of choice. We do not have to watch & listen to Obama simply because he has decided he will MAKE us hear him.

In the Long Island town in which I live there are many stores within walking distance.
They are neighborhood stores which I give my business whenever possible.
They are all doing well, as far as I can tell.
A few weeks ago, however, I wanted to purchase a pair of suade slippers for the winter which I knew could be found at the Sundance Store at the mall.
When my husband and I visited the mall, we were shocked. So many of the stores were closed and half the mall was in darkness.
I happened to purchase the last pair of slippers in my size at Sundance. That store is going out of business too.
It was very depressing and quite frightening.
