Join The Resistance!

We say we want a revolution. Well, here’s how it’s done:

  • Call the Obama Press Office and them when Sen. Obama will be making a public statement denouncing the Terry Tate Youtube, the Palin pornographic film, and the relentlessly sexist and degrading attacks by his followers on Gov. Palin. Ask the Press Office when the Senator will be calling for his supporters to STOP the attacks on voters who oppose him! Call today: 312-819-2423.
  • Go to our  Action Center for graphics, flyers, postcards, and other ideas on getting the word out on the streets.  JOIN Puma PAC for mass action alerts (always free and fun; we NEVER share email or spam you).
  • Meet Harriet Christian in Manhattan on Saturday and Sunday from now until the election.  She is rounding up a posse to go to Scranton, PA to canvass in coordination with Democrat’s for McCain.  If you’re interested, send her an email at hchristian at infnyc dot com.  The buses leave from 31st Street and 8th Ave at 9:00AM.
  • Join Paulie and MariLu and Real Democrats on their canvassing Bus Tour of Ohio. They are having HUGE success reaching out to Democrats and Independents and also having HUGE fun doing it! Click HERE to join them.
  • Help Heidi Li and Marc Rubin get more ads on the air.  Visit Democrats for Principle before Party and make a donation.
  • Visit johnmccain.com to make phone calls from home. You don’t have to sell your soul to the Republican Party to take this action. Simply call voters in swing states and tell them the TRUTH about WHY you are not voting for Obama. If you’ve forgotten all the reasons, read through the comments HERE for succinct, heart-felt, and inspirational reasons.
  • Find a Puma Buddy to canvas or flyer with this weekend and next. In comments, shout out what area you’re in and ask for a buddy. If you are anywhere near a city in most of the 50 states, you will soon find at least one helpful Puma to join you. Greenfun and Billiejo in the Berkely CA area just got back from a weekend of canvassing in Reno and they had great fun while doing great work. You can too!
  • Tell your friends to tune into blogtalkradio programs.  There are a wide variety to suit everyone’s taste and you will get to meet a lot of new friends from all over the country.  Tonight, you can Chew the Fat with Ophelia, from The New Agenda tonight at 10PM EST.  Join Amy Siskind and Dr. Violet Socks talk about how women from both sides of the aisle can find common ground, work towards the 30% solution and move women’s issues forward for a better society for all. Dr. Lynette Long will be on this week with Sheri Tagg. Tune your cat channels to Puma United Radio (PURrrr!) and spread the word!

“All it takes for evil to prevail in this world is that good people do nothing.” Edmund Burke

Let’s read in comments that every Puma PAC member has done, or has commited to do doing, AT LEAST one of the Actions above.

Lady Hawkke – and all Pumas

Thanks for your kind offer – I don’t know how to say it but please use whatever money you were going to donate to the flyers towards printing MORE flyers for yourself from the Action Center.

The way I see it, there’s no other way I would rather spend the money than to see so many folks here and outside of Puma working so hard towards our passion.
It’s worth every penny.

So thank you for donations but I am going to turn it back to Murphy for Puma use.

For those following the African Press International story, the fact that they apparently missed a self imposed deadline should not be taken as a sign one way or another. What we have here is a cultural issue – in Africa, the concepts of distance and time are very different from ours. We operate on precise schedules and gauge our travels by precise distances – they do not.

If you have ever been to Africa or know of anyone that has, you will get a real flavor for that disconnect.

“How much farther”…”"Just a little further”. 3 hours later you arrive at your destination.

“When will we arrive?”…”We should be there by noon.” You finally roll in at 10 PM that evening.

In rural Africa, it is not unusual to talk to people who have no clue as to how old they are. Time is measured by the seasons, or by the full moon, not the clock.

Distance is, well, “relative”. Just over the hill sometimes describes the distance to the curvature of the Earth. If you can get from point A to point B at a brisk walk in a day, that is close by. And all “tomorrow” means is that it will not happen today.

Let’s wait and see what pops up. I am sure the tapes will be released “tomorrow”…

Come on in lurkers, let us know what you’re doing between now and Nov 4th to ensure Obama’s defeat.

Who in the Ohio/PA area will join Paulie and MariLu?
Who in the NYC area will join Harriet?

Who will make calls in swing states?

Who will help Heidi Li?

Who will call the Obama Campaign Press Office?

Good Card.

http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/basics/strength.shtml

“STRENGTH

Basic Card Symbols

A woman with a lemniscate hovering over her head, a lion.

Basic Tarot Story

The Fool, victorious over his enemies, is feeling arrogant, powerful, even vengeful. There is a hot passion in him that he can barely control. It is in this state that he comes across a maiden struggling with a lion. Running to help, he arrives in time to see her gently but firmly shut the lion’s mouth! In fact, the beast, which seemed so wild and fierce a moment ago, is now completely at her command.

Amazed, the Fool asks her, “How did you do that?” One hand on the lion’s mane, she answers, “Will power. Any beast, no matter how wild, will back down before a superior will.” At that moment, the Maiden meets the Fool’s eyes; though saintly and young, her look is knowing and filled with great power. “Likewise,” she says to him, “there are many unworthy impulses inside us. It is not wrong to have them. But it is wrong to let them control us. We are human, not beast, and we can command such energy, use them for higher purposes.” His rage quieted, the Fool nods, enlightened, and walks away knowing that it wasn’t only the lion that was tamed this day by a Maiden’s pure and innocent strength.”

#31 jennforhillary on 10.20.08 at 3:50 pm

i got this in my email today….

Dear Ms. Guerra:

Thank you for writing to me regarding the Logan Act. I appreciate hearing from you and welcome the opportunity to respond.

The Logan Act was enacted in 1799 to prevent individuals from interfering in foreign affairs against the interests of the United States. The Act prohibits citizens from negotiating with other nations without authorization.

I understand your concern that Senator Obama (D-IL) violated the Logan Act when he travelled to Iraq in September. The Department of State has issued an opinion found in the Digest of the U.S. Practice in International Law statuary that the Logan Act does not appear to restrict members of Congress from engaging in discussions with foreign officials in pursuance of their legislative duties under the Constitution. Also, it is important to note that in the 200 years since its inception, no individual has ever been prosecuted under the Logan Act.

Please know that I will keep your concerns in mind should the Senate consider this matter in the future.

Once again, thank you for writing. Should you have additional thoughts or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington D.C. staff at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

Were you able to talk with Lady de Rothschild yet. Any insight on anything you would like to share. : )

#34 hillstheone on 10.20.08 at 3:55 pm

Topic: Friends (part 2, or is it, part 3)?

Frodo & all, was just out walking w/a friend / coworker. She was saying how she thinks Obama is everything great, etc. I was astonished & before I could censor myself the words flew out of my mouth, I told her she was naive and laughed. Oops.

Truth be told, though, she has only a few TV channels, doesn’t read the newspaper nor the internet much. Is it wrong to call somebody like that naive? I don’t know.

Anyway, Frodo, per our discussion last night, now you can see we are all in this together, all w/similar things happening in our lives. Fortunately I smoothed things over somewhat. She (& others in y(our) world) will come around later…

Would love to see Harriet Christian – PUMA’s who do see her, do post your experiences. Did join PUMA Pac and use the Action Center on a regular basis (thanks, DWP)!! Hope everyone is well today.

#35 hillstheone on 10.20.08 at 3:57 pm

Topic: Friends (p.s.) Before anyone suggests it, yes I did try to talk to her. She got VERY angry and VERY defensive. No sense trying to talk to someone when they’re like that…

#32 Interesting newsclip ladyhawke, but I thought this was an interesting choice of words (?):

“As a cold political calculation, I could not be more pleased,” McCain said, calling Palin “a direct counterpoint to the liberal feminist agenda for America”

Do liberal feminists have an agenda? Is our agenda to vote for a Republican?

Mind-numbing…

ladyhawkke,
SNL was really disgusting they way they pummelled on Sarah.

#40 mzebest on 10.20.08 at 4:03 pm

A repost of my message from downstairs… I would like to thank all the PUMA’s that posted downstairs in support of this idea. I think it’s the only way to send a clear message to the Clinton’s that stomping for BO will cause more damage than good. Here’s what I posted for anyone that hasn’t seen it yet:

~~~~~
#280 jane-pa
“I cannt stand watching Bill or Hillary working for him. Our country is in peril.”
~~~~~

I totally agree… I will always give the Clintons the benefit of the doubt — but I have decided to show my protest of seeing them stomp for BO by calling their HilPac headquarters and requesting a refund of campaign donations from the past.

Regardless of what the motives are behind their stomping for BO — even if it’s not heartfelt and a political necessity for their future — the fact remains that their speeches do contribute to damage in that many supporters (that do not have access to the same information as PUMA’s) believe the Clinton rhetoric and start to sway in Obama’s column for support.

When I called the office — I politely explained that I contributed to Senator Clinton’s campaign and also to help pay down her debt because I believed she stood for the values I treasure. But it upsets me deeply that she is out campaigning for a candidate that is deeply entrenched in corruption and this is not what I thought Senator Clinton was about. I further explained that while I originally would have been happy to let her keep the contribution funds — it’s a matter of principal that I am requesting a refund out of protest for her actions.

The lady said she understood. I think it’s important to ask for this refund and to express the reasons behind it. If enough people do it — maybe Senator Clinton will get the message and find excuses not to be available for stumping for Obama

Request received at pumapac action center emailbox:

PBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin is qualified. Apparently the left wing knew about this
in advance and are flooding the voting with NO votes.
The poll will be reported on PBS and picked up by mainstream media. It can influence undecided voters
in swing states.
Please do two things — takes 20 seconds.
1) Click on link and vote YES!
Here’s the link: http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html
2) Then send this to every McCain-Palin supporter you know, and urge them tovote and pass it on.

The last thing we need is PBS saying their viewers don’t think Sarah Palin is qualified.

Thanks diva2 and everyone else that posted similar support for the idea downstairs. I agree. I am by no means rich. I live on a tight budget to keep my checkbook in the black. When I called — I told the lady — it’s not a lot of money — but it’s the principal of the matter that it disturbs me to see Senator Clinton speaking in support of a candidate that we all know to be deeply corrupt. I would like to think that this is not what Senator Clinton wants for our Country — and until she stops supporting corruption by supporting this candidate — then I feel compelled to protest by asking for the refund.

Like many that have posted — I would prefer to donate the money to better causes — even if it means transferring the funds to McCain headquarters. Again — it’s not a lot of money — but it’s the statement that hopefully is important.

I truly adore the Clintons still… and it’s my hope that they will get the message when they hear that many do not like the actions of them being on the campaign trail for Obama. Hopefully they might respond with finding phony excuses to be busy and stop the stomping. That’s my hope.

#71 freddiebrown on 10.20.08 at 4:31 pm

I remember a photo from several months ago on the internet… when there were just rumblings of Ayers…

it was a photo of Ayers in and a bunch of people around a table. Someone was passing a plate of what looked like Burgers. I thought Obama was at the table.. I could not swear to that. I have not seen this anymore.
I think it might even be in a video… perhaps the video’s made by this guy Filneo – brilliant videos.
He was so saddened by Hillary’s loss, he gave it up.

Continue to write media letters (focus on swing states).
Continue to support Heidi and Marc’s ad campaigns.
Continue to contact elected officials as needed.
Continue to make calls for McCain in swing states.
Continue to work behind the scenes to link up people who might serve each other’s interests.
Share ideas and written materials on this and other blogs.
Urge and and all I come into contact with to take action in addition to voting.
Participate in relevant polls (PBS poll – done).
Participate in relevant petitions.
Participate in relevant boycotts (though it’s getting hard to function anymore!)
Participate in any other relevant actions (Reebok contact – done – left voice mail for Mr. Sarro).

I have got a very sympathetic ear from a young Vietnamese mother to be that has time on her hands. She agrees with everything I have told her and I am asking her to tell 5 other people in her circle. She is very enthusiastic – she ain’t going back to no communist country or have her kid sing songs about no leader. Just sayin.

Quick pit stop at home to eat…

THE AC HAS MEDIA CONTACTS BY STATE (thanks to Bobram). BUT, you have to click on them one by one which brings you to a page that attaches PUMApac to your e-mail. It’s tedious and takes a lot of time. I’ve grouped the info for mass mailings and will post. The direct e-mail links are grouped. Below them are web sites where you have to use web forms or can find additional links and info.

Murphy, if you don’t want me to do this, say so. Otherwise, I’ll start to post the info. We only have a few days left and it seems reasonable to make things as efficient as possible for everyone to act.

I’ll grab something to eat and check the blog to see if you don’t want me to do this. If I don’t see a notice, I’ll post the grouped links by state before heading back out.

BTW did you see that Larry Sumners tipped for possible cabinet position. Remember him?

Not worth the time but don’t like to post without source info.

From The Sunday Times
October 19, 2008

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article4968993.ece

Another leading candidate for the Treasury is Summers, who has been guiding Obama through the Wall Street melt-down. Summers was forced to quit as president of Harvard University in 2006 after suggesting controversially that men had a greater aptitude for science and engineering than women.

At a conference at Harvard Business School last week, Summers defended Obama’s plans to tax the wealthy by pointing to the huge rise in inequality over the past 30 years between the earnings of the top 1% and bottom 80% of the country. “It is immense compared to any discussion of changing the tax system here or there,” he said.

#83 heart.puma on 10.20.08 at 4:49 pm

I was wondering about the response anyone else received when calling the ‘Obama Press Office’. The guy that answered was polite and seemed receptive. I got half way through the (polite but firm) explanation for my call when he asked for my name. I gave him my name and finished what I had to say. He said he was making note of my call and asked where I was calling from. When I told him “Louisiana” it was like a switch turned off and all interest faded immediately. He couldn’t get off the phone fast enough.

I have to wonder… if I was calling from a ‘battleground’ state would my call have had more relevance. =(

POWERFUL LINES

BOTTOM-LINE CLINCHERS

HARD-HITTING POINTS

I’ve sent friends and contacts in swing states links to good articles and videos and also written them long emails and pasted articles (or excerpts) in some of them…

That can work.

But sometimes I’ve written succinctly… and used just a few powerful, hard-hitting lines about BO, and I’ve gotten surprising responses… like, “You’re right Landi… what you wrote really made me think twice about voting for Obama!”
Something similar has happened in talking with others.

That’s why I asked the other day, and will ask again:

What are the most powerful, hard-hitting lines we can use to convince people (to not vote for BO and vote for McCain instead)?

– When we write or talk to others on the different issues and topics of concern…
What are the lines or talking points that can really have an impact and make a difference?

-> SHARE THE MOST PERSUASIVE LINES OR TALKING POINTS YOU COME UP WITH OR RUN INTO!

(I’m still compiling the ones people suggested here when I asked this question on Saturday… And I’ll also post some of mine below)

#103 Anna7000 on 10.20.08 at 5:08 pm

Patty –

I doubt much can sway them. I’d definitely avoid the whole Ayers thing. For young people there is no context and when they think of terrorists, they think of Bin Laden and just don’t get it about Ayers, at least in my view. Just doesn’t resonate.

But, how about the fact that Obama talks about equal pay for equal work while paying his female staffers 78 cents on the dollar compared to his male staffers, while McCain pays his women $1.04 for every dollar he pays his men. Plus, the minority of Obama’s top advisors are women, while the majority of McCain’s are female.

If they really love Obama, your daughter can always reassure them that he’ll still be a Senator. But, for President, we just have to have someone with more experience.

Then there’s this analogy: Remember in school when you’d have a sub. No one respected them. They never seemed to know what they were doing or have any command over the situation. Well, Obama’s like the sub. McCain’s the real deal.

She can always remind them that after the election, when all the excitement has died down, life will carry on and they’ll think precious little about Obama. But, it will be crucial that they can feel secure about who’s at the helm, and the only way to feel secure it voting McCain.

Oh, Lordie, I don’t know. That’s the best I can come up with.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! Normita, webmaster on hillaryvillagers, asked me to post the following article for you. Mary Jo

Subject: How Women got the right to vote:

A piece of history we need to remember, or perhaps become aware
of, told in a brief and moving way.

This is the story of women only 90 years ago.

It was not until 1920 that women were granted the right to go to the
polls and vote.

The women who made it so were innocent and defenseless. And by the
end of the night, they were barely alive.

Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden’s blessing went
on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of ‘obstructing
sidewalk traffic.

They beat Lucy Burn, chained her hands to the cell bars above her
head and left her hanging for the night, bleeding and gasping for air.
They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her head against an iron bed
and knocked her out cold.
Her cellmate, Alice Cosu, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack.
Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging,
beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and Kicking the women.

Thus unfolded the ‘Night of Terror’ on Nov. 15, 1917, when the
warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his guards to teach a
lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because they dared to picket
Woodrow Wilson’s White House for the right to vote.

For weeks, the women’s only water came from an open pail. Their
food–all of it colorless slop–was infested with worms. When one of the
leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a
chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she
vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks until word was smuggled out to the
press.

Some women won’t vote this year because–why exactly?
We have carpool duties? We have to get to work? Our vote doesn’t
matter? It’s raining?

Last week, there was a sparsely attended screening of HBO ’s new
movie ‘Iron Jawed Angels.’ It is a graphic depiction of the battle these
women waged so that women could pull the curtain at the polling booth
and have their say. We need the reminder. The actual act of voting has
become less personal for us, more rote.
Frankly, voting often felt more like an obligation than a privilege.
Sometimes it was inconvenient.

HBO released the movie on video and DVD. All history, social
studies and government teachers should include the movie in their curriculum.
It should be shown anywhere women gather. This isn’t our usual idea
of socializing, but we are not voting in the numbers that we should be.
A little shock therapy is in order.

It is jarring to watch Woodrow Wilson and his cronies try to
persuade a Psychiatrist to declare Alice Paul insane so that she could
be permanently institutionalized. And it is inspiring to watch the doctor
refuse. Alice Paul was strong, he said, and brave. That didn’t make her crazy.
The doctor admonished the men: ‘Courage in women is often
mistaken for insanity.

Please,, pass this on to all the women you know.

We need to get out and vote and use this right that was fought so
hard for by these very courageous women. Whether you vote democratic,
republican or independent party – remember to vote. History is being
made.

***** UPDATE: Philip Berg Lawsuit *****

Monday, October 20, 2008
Obama, DNC File Motion to Dismiss Berg’s First Amended Complaint

Just a few minutes ago, attorneys for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee filed a motion to dismiss the first amended complaint, a motion for leave for which was filed by Philip Berg on Monday, October 6.

An amended complaint cannot simply be filed by an attorney — the attorney must file a motion with the court, called a motion for leave to file an amended complaint, essentially asking that the court permit the amended complaint to be filed. That motion, the October 6 motion, is one of more than ten pending pleadings and still has not been addressed by the Hon. R. Barclay Surrick.

I am just now taking a look at it, but from a quick glance it appears as though Obama and the DNC are moving to dismiss the amended complaint on the same grounds for which they moved to dismiss the original complaint, chief among them Berg’s lack of standing.

Most women are a direct counterpoint to the ‘liberal feminist agenda’. This agenda is for those women who believe that while men are our enemy, other women can not and should not be entrusted to break away from the pre-set hard and fast rules of the ‘liberal feminist’.

When someone like Sarah Palin has the audacity to have her OWN beliefs, her OWN goals and her OWN values, then the cry is, WTF?!? Doesn’t she realize that to be independent of ‘Liberal Feminism’ is to undermine the teachings of victimization and dependency that is the cornerstone of every liberal feminist organization? Next thing you know EVERY woman will want to have her own beliefs, goals and values!!

Patty – I think it was you that asked the question above and Anna’s response regarding talking issues with young people – several of us have been using the service that Obama wants the entire country to give – college students 100 hours a year – and also selective service sign up for women – that doesn’t make a lot of people happy -

Anna thanks for your contact list – the next two weeks going to send out emails to the contact list – going to go onto each newspaper in swing states and blog under their daily news when it has anything to do with the election and or on their blogs/opinion section and hand out flyers regarding Acorn – so many people have not heard about that and when they do they are extremely unhappy – more so than the bitterness and guns and religion and Pastor Wright – at least from my experience

Anna7000 – are most of your contacts editors – or some tip lines or opinions or what – letters to the editors are generally subject to 200 to 300 words and must have the authors name address and phone number – where tip lines, news tips, news items and opinions generally do not —- some of the editors will not print out of State comments – as we witnessed with someone here from Wisconsin if I remember correctly.

Gogandalf – Unfortunately, I can’t answer your question. I got the links from the AC. I clicked on each state and copy and pasted the links that were there. I’m assuming it’s a whole combination of contacts. I just send my letters out and figure some will hit the mark and others will be discarded for any number of reasons, but there just isn’t the time now to fine tune it. Sorry I can’t answer your question any better.

BTW, if you go into the AC and click on the state by state links, there are some notes for some of the links (such as word maximum), but for the most part, there’s no additional info.

Murphy
I have a stack of flyers in my car. When I park in a parking lot and see a vehicle with a BO sticker, I quietly stick a flyer under the window wiper for them to read when they get into their car. I’ve also left them on bulletin boards. It’s actually fun, especially if I’m lucky to see the reaction of the person(s).

#143 indy on 10.20.08 at 5:55 pm

WAIT TIL YOU READ THIS!!

Excerpts from Byron York’s article about a man who confronted the media after a McCain rally. This is “choice:”

“After McCain left, as the crowd filed out, Munoz made his way to an area near some loudspeakers. He attracted a few reporters when he started talking loudly, in heavily-accented English, about media mistreatment of Wurzelbacher. (It was clear that Spanish was Munoz’s native language, and he later told me he was born in Colombia.)

“Are you going to check my license, too?” he asked me. “Are you going to check my immigration status? I’m ready, I have everything here. Whatever you want, I have it. I have my green card, I have my passport — “

“Yeah, I have my papers right here,” he said. “I’m an American citizen. Right here, right here.” With that, he produced a U.S. passport, turned it to the page with his picture on it, and thrust it about an inch from my nose. “Right here,” he said. “In your face.”

Munoz said he owned a small construction business. “I have a license, if you guys want to check,” he said.

Someone asked why Munoz had come to the rally. “I support McCain, but I’ve come to face you guys because I’m disgusted with you guys,” he said. “Why the hell are you going after Joe the Plumber? Joe the Plumber has an idea. He has a future. He wants to be something else. Why is that wrong? Everything is possible in America. I made it. Joe the Plumber could make it even better than me. . . . I was born in Colombia, but I was made in the U.S.A.”

The scene turned into a mini-fracas when David Corn, of Mother Jones, defended press coverage. Munoz was having none of it. Why, he asked, would the press whack Joe the Plumber when it didn’t want to report on Obama’s relationship with William Ayers, the former Weather Underground bomber? “How come that’s not in the news all the time?” Munoz said. “How come Joe the Plumber is every second? I’m talking about NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN.”A black woman with a strong Caribbean accent jumped in the fray. “Tell me,” she said to Corn, “why is it you can go and find out about Joe the Plumber’s tax lien and when he divorced his wife and you can’t tell me when Barack Obama met with William Ayers? Why? Why could you not tell us that? Joe the Plumber is me!”

“I am Joe the Plumber!” Munoz chimed in. “You’re attacking me.”

“Wait a second,” Corn said. “Do you pay your taxes?”

“Yes, I pay my taxes,” the woman said.

“Then you’re better than Joe the Plumber,” Corn said.

That set off a general free-for-all. “I’m going to tell you something,” Munoz yelled at Corn. “I’m better than Obama. Why? Because I’m not associated with terrorists!”

And so it went. I walked away for a few minutes to strike up a conversation with the woman who had jumped into the debate. Her name was Connie, and she said she had been born and raised in Antigua, in the West Indies. “I immigrated to the United States over 20 years ago,” she told me. “It’s my home. America has become my home. I came here freely of my own free will because I loved it, and I loved what it had to offer, and I don’t want to see it ruined.”

I asked her whether it was difficult, as a black person, to support McCain at a time when probably 90 to 95 percent of black voters support Obama. “I have always been a conservative,” she told me. “I’m mad. I was extremely upset to see the way the media went after Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. . . . To see the drive-by media and the Obama campaign attack two ordinary Americans simply because one of them managed to get Barack Obama to tell the truth, it was shameful and disgraceful.”

Meanwhile, the great debate was continuing, with Tito the Construction Worker and David the Journalist trading points. Much of it wasn’t terribly informative, but there was one lovely moment when a shouting match turned into a lesson on the fundamental meaning of American constitutional rights — and the immigrant was the teacher.

“Let me talk,” Munoz said to Corn. “I know the Constitution, and I know my First Amendment — ”

“I’m not the state,” Corn said. “I can’t take that right away from you.”

“No, no,” Munoz shot back. “Even the state, the state cannot take that right away.”

“Right, right,” Corn quickly agreed.

“Nobody can take that away,” Munoz said.

And indeed they can’t.

They are responding with legalese instead of simply submitting the documents to the court.

Do you have any insights regarding Berg’s standing? There is case law (one involving John McCain) were the court found Plaintiff did not have standing to file. Berg has taken an Oath to uphold the Constitution which might be a factor.

Filing a Motion to Dismiss the amended complaint isn’t a surprise given their previous filing.

Yeah, BO is very popular at all the colleges in NC. I would really tell her to look into his plan to enslave those of us who have to use student loans to pay for school with an unreasonable requirements for community service.

I had to work full time and still get loans. And now I work full time and struggle to pay them back. I’m paying intrest to the government, there should be no service requirement.

——
Democratic White House nominee Barack Obama on Monday accused his Republican foe John McCain of pursuing “small” and “ugly” politics in an eleventh hour bid to rescue his White House hopes.

Obama launched a blitz of crucial swing state Florida, which will see him hold a double-bill rally with former primary foe Hillary Clinton later Monday, by rebuking McCain for his tactics, 15 days before election day.

“In the final days of campaigns, the say-anything, do-anything politics too often takes over,” Obama told thousands of supporters in a rally at the spring training headquarters of baseball’s New York Yankees.

“We’ve seen it before and we’re seeing it again — ugly phone calls, misleading mail, misleading TV ads, careless, outrageous comments,” Obama said.

#180 BillieJo-

They ain’t seen nothing yet. The 527s are starting to break out. Woo Hoo!

Two television ads calling for the defeat of the Obama/Biden campaign have Obama supporters panicked, with some Obama supporters contacting TV stations and the Justice Department in an attempt to censor the anti-Obama advertisements.

The ads are produced by the pro-McCain/Palin political action committee, Our Country Deserves Better PAC and are running in the key battleground states that will determine this election.

The ads can be seen below. You can help purchase even more airtime for these ads by making an immediate contribution of any amount between $5 to the maximum allowed amount of $5,000 to the Our Country Deserves Better ad fund – DONATE ONLINE HERE.

Here’s the first ad everyone’s talking about with reporting on the anti-Obama ad appearing on Fox News Channel, CNN, CBS News, Time Magazine’s political report, “The Page”, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, National Journal, New York Newsday, and several other media outlets:

WATCH “OBAMA’S WRONG VALUES” – HERE

The next ad is being run specifically in Michigan – where the Obama campaign has now followed the McCain campaign in pulling resources out of the state. This means the state of Michigan is now “in play” — if we can raise enough money, we can turn the tide and erase the lead Obama’s campaign had built over the past 2 weeks. The ad features Obama’s connections to such controversial and corrupt figures including domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, anti-American and racist pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and the scandal-plagued former Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick:

WATCH AD ON OBAMA’S TIES TO AYERS, WRIGHT, KILPATRICK

And finally this ad below which has begun to run in key swing states and has been denounced by Obama supporters. The reason they are upset? It features Sen. Hillary Clinton ripping into Obama on a host of fronts, and could swing Independents and Democrats into the McCain camp in the final days before the election.

WATCH AD: HILLARY RIPS OBAMA – HERE

PLEASE – make a contribution to our ad campaign fund so we can expand this ad buy to other states beyond Nevada, Colorado and Michigan (the first 3 states we’ve bought time for the ad which represent 31 Electoral Votes).

Federal election laws allow contributions up to $5,000 – and we can start turning states from Obama to McCain in the polls if we can expand our ad campaign to more swing states. A $500,000 ad buy in each state requires only 100 people to contribute $5,000. If you can only afford a donation of $1,000 or $500, $250, $100 or less, it will still help, but time is critically short for us to act.

P.S. We have officially launched our “Stop Obama Tour” across the nation. We need to get crowds out to these events, especially with the heightened media interest in our effort now building. Full tour details – HERE.

What good would it do to complain to BO? He’s corrupt in case you haven’t noticed. He doesn’t like America and he is hoping for our downfall. He thinks contributing to our downfall will make him great in the eyes of all his terrorist friends who are rooting for the same demise of this country. Complaining to BO will only serve to give him your personal information of who he should throw into jail after he’s elected.

I understand your need to complain — but complain to the media outlets that still care, to anyone that you can think of that still loves this country — but heavens — don’t think complaining to BO will ever be the answer. Your complaints will fall on deaf ears.

I am upset right now with Hillary in Orlando Fl and on TV no less with Obama standing right next to her. Blasting out like she was campaigning for herself. He called Bill a racist. He downgraded her as a woman. TOO much. How can she do this to all the women of America. She should be demanding respect for all women not kissing up to him.

Zogby: McCain Is Gaining, Race Tightens

Sunday, October 19, 2008 11:14 AM

Article Font Size

Republican John McCain continued a slow advance on Democrat Barack Obama in the race for president, moving back within three percentage points as the race begins to head down the stretch run, the latest Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking poll shows.

McCain now trails Obama by 2.7 points, down from the 3.9 point deficit he faced 24 hours earlier.

Seven-point-one percent of the likely voters surveyed said they remain undecided.

Obama lost five-tenths of a point from yesterday’s report, while McCain gained another six-tenths of a point. It was the third consecutive day in which Obama’s numbers slipped and McCain’s numbers increased.

McCain has once again moved above 45% support overall, a mark he has not seen since the second day of daily tracking reports. Obama’s slip under 48% support is the first time at that level in nearly a week. He now stands within one-tenth of a percent of where he stood when the Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking began almost two weeks ago. McCain is within two-tenths of a percent of where he was when the tracking poll began.

During the 13 days of the tracking poll, Obama has led by as much as 6.2 points and as little as 1.9 points.

Except for a few hours of polling, this three-day rolling average of telephone polling now includes a sample taken entirely after the final presidential debate last Wednesday.

The tracking poll includes 1,211 likely voters across the country who were surveyed between Oct. 16-18, 2008, at the rate of about 400 per day. The survey, conducted using live telephone interviewers calling from Zogby’s call center in Upstate New York, carries a margin of error of +/- 2.9 percentage points.

McCain made a big move Saturday among independent voters, cutting’s Obama lead from 16 points to just 8 points. Now, Obama leads by a 46% to 38% margin, with the balance of independents either unsure or supporting someone else. McCain’s strong performance at the Alfred E. Smith charity dinner in New York City Thursday, combined with his appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman Thursday night, may have had a positive effect. Other Zogby polling has recently shown that independent undecided voters tend to prefer consuming their politics in such entertainment venues. Obama was also praised for his performance at the Alfred E. Smith dinner.

Both candidates have remained strong among their political bases – McCain wins 90% of Republicans, compared to 88% of Democrats who support Obama.

Men are now, again, tilting very slightly in favor of McCain, who leads by just two percentage points among the group. Among women, Obama leads, but only by six points.

Obama continues to win 18% support among conservative voters, while McCain wins only seven percent among liberals. Among moderates, a demographic that includes substantially more Democrats than Republicans, Obama leads, 61% to 33% for McCain.

Among those who consider themselves investors, McCain retains a small, four-point lead – helpful but no where near as large a margin as Republican George W. Bush enjoyed over his Democratic rival four years ago.

McCain should say, mirroring nobo’s words.

We’ve seen it before and we’re seeing it again — ugly phone calls, misleading mail, misleading TV ads, careless, outrageous comments, ” Senator nobo, why don’t you stop doing these things, or are they necessary for you to win??!

This from our friend “Dickie Morris” The first paragraph is what it is ALL about!

‘Joe the Plumber’ Presents Winning Strategy for McCain

Monday, October 20, 2008 4:45 PM

By: Dick Morris & Eileen McGann Article Font Size

Ronald Reagan’s most important contribution to the American political dialogue was his ability to move the tax issue from an economic-populist issue into a populist, blue-collar one.

Under George W. Bush, however, the issue has switched back to one of class warfare, as increasing numbers of Americans have paid no taxes at all, and the rates on those who did pay taxes fell. Now, a chance encounter with “Joe the plumber” has afforded the Republicans the chance to use taxes as a blue-collar issue.

The opening Joe provided and John McCain skillfully exploited in the third presidential debate gives the GOP ticket its first long shot at victory since McCain punted on the terrible, pork-laden, corporate-giveaway “rescue” bill Congress passed and Bush signed.

Obama’s tax plans and spending programs have emerged as the key point of difference between the campaigns. And the Democrat’s comment to Joe that he saw his tax policy as a “way to spread the wealth around” underscores the motive behind his program: to redistribute income. Obama might as well have told Joe, “I want to take the hard earned money you make fixing pipes and give it to other people.”

If the Republican Party concentrates its fire on the tax issue and the redistributionist impulse behind Obama’s plans, it can close the Democratic lead point by point, day by day, until the election. McCain’s campaign must resist the temptation to take random shots on other issues and zero in on the tax-and-spend issue, stressing how taxes penalize those who work hard and live right.

In fact, the rich are paying vastly more in taxes than they ever have. “Reality Check: The Unreported Good News About America,” by Dennis Keegan and David West, points out that the percentage of income-tax revenues paid by the top percent of the population has almost doubled in the last 20 years; it now pays 40 percent of all income tax. (The bottom half in income pays less than 3 percent.)

Despite the lower rates, the rich are paying more in taxes because they are earning more and more. In the last eight years, real, after-inflation income growth for the top 10 percent of the population has been more than 45 percent.

Essentially, the tax debate comes down to economic populism versus social populism. The Democratic economic populists rail against the rich and demand that they pay more in taxes.

The Republican social populists decry the notion of income redistribution as rewarding failure and penalizing hard work. Until Joe, the economic-populist polarity dominated the presidential race to the detriment of the Republicans. But now Joe has brought the social-populist argument back to life.

Because there always are, there will doubtless be those who see the social-populist approach as a code word for racism, especially because it is directed against the proposals of an African-American candidate. But the dichotomy that social populism exploits is one that separates the most productive members of our work force from the others, in the spirit of Joe the plumber. Race is quite beside the point.

The question is whether McCain has the discipline to pursue the tax issue doggedly for the rest of the campaign. The other targets — from Bill Ayers to ACORN — are so tempting but ultimately appeal to the Republican base and few others. But taxes hit us all.

The core difference between the American working class and its European equivalents is that Europeans are inclined to vote based on their current condition while Americans base their decisions more on their goals and objectives for the future. Americans assume upward mobility while Europeans do not. Each nation’s workers are correct in their assessments.

Despite the widening gap between the richest 20 percent and the poorest in the United States, the economic chart is constantly churning. People are always moving out of the bottom fifth and up the scale, their places at the bottom of the ladder yielding to new arrivals, usually from abroad.

So Americans are right to vote their dreams. Obama’s European socialist tendency to sabotage growth in the interests of “fairness” merely serves to convert an American model that works into a European one that does not.

http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/10/20/biden-guarantees-an-international-crisis-in-six-months-if-obama-wins/#more-5570

(I know some of you guys heard Biden–he sounds crazy or maybe like he doesn’t want Obama to win, or he knows something. Re-read it and look for clues. He’s rambling about how we don’t have enough in the military, and how Pakistan is blah blah. WTH is he talking about. A Draft? Starting war somewhere else? Or he’s saying we will GET attacked? They are going to need our influence in the community? What? The civilian military? Cause it’s NOT going to be apparent they are right at first?? What? It’s one of the scariest things I’ve heard a politician say. I’ve been harping about how I think Obama would swap our enemies for our allies. Just re-read what he said. Predicting something horrible…for what? To numb the already numbed out Ozombie WACKOS who want to vote for this guy??)

Don’t Forget the Undecided Voters

By Steven M. Warshawsky

Apparently it has become my mission in life to try to persuade my fellow Republicans and conservatives, not to mention the voting public at large, to stop believing polls that supposedly show Barack Obama “winning” the race for president over John McCain, despite the fact that the actual election has not yet taken place.

In a recent article, I pointed out the fundamental inaccuracy (and bias) that results from how the polls are constructed (and, I should have added, implemented), how the polls are “weighted” (e.g., by assuming that Democrats or blacks or younger voters will vote in disproportionately large numbers this year), and how the media accounts — or rather, fails to account — for the polls’ “margin of error.” This last point is critical because most polls show that the “gap” between the candidates is within the reported margin of error, meaning that “in reality” McCain might be “winning” the race.

But there is another crucial issue that the media routinely overlooks when reporting polls: undecided voters. For example, consider the Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll from October 10. The Fox News headline reads: “Obama Maintains Lead Over McCain.” The poll shows Obama leading McCain by 46% to 39% among registered voters nationwide. Moreover, the margin of error for this polls is +/- 3 points, which means that Obama’s lead is larger than the poll’s margin of error.

But note the real message of this poll: Neither Obama nor McCain garners majority support, and 15% of voters remain undecided. That’s huge.

Consider another example, the Reuters/C-Span/Zogby poll from October 19. This poll shows Obama leading McCain by 47.8% to 45.1% among likely voters nationwide. The reported margin of error for the poll is +/- 2.9 points, larger than the gap between the candidates. But, again, note that the poll includes 7.1% undecided voters.

(Of course, the wide variability in the many published polls should be another clue that they should not taken too seriously.)

The race between Obama and McCain will be determined by how these undecided voters (not the core supporters of the Democratic and Republican candidates) decide to “break.” The polls, by definition, cannot tell us how these voters are going to vote. As one of this this election’s leading clichés has it, Obama seems to have a hard time closing the deal.

The bottom line, once more, is that the election will not be decided until the American people go to the polls on November 4 and actually cast their votes. For the reasons I’ve stated previously, I predict that most voters, ultimately, will pull the lever for McCain.

GOOD LINES & TALKING POINTS [Ayers]

Terrorism is one of our big threats today… How can we elect someone (to be our Commander In Chief) who has hung out for years with an unrepentant terrorist?!

The only difference between Bill Ayers and Timothy McVeigh is the death toll!

Imagine if McCain had been associated with someone who had bombed abortion clinics… The media would be all over it and he’d become un-electable!”

More GOOD LINES & POINTS:

Would anyone hire an inexperienced young man to coach the 49ers? Would anyone hire a middle manager with two-years tenure to be the CEO of Microsoft? There is no substitute for experience.

She said that during the voter registration drive, the Obots would not leave the students alone. They were literally harrassing them. She said that Obama stuff was all over the dorms, etc. Now, she said that you don’t see that as much and there is a lot of McCain/Palin stuff all over the campus. That is very good news. Not all young adults are falling for “that One.”

He abuses us all and she was telling women to go out and canvas for Obama and to make phone calls for Obama and everything we did for her we are to do for him. It makes me cry. How can she say that. She is telling abused women to go and take more abuse. She is saying to make a hero out of the abuser. I will not support any abuse of women. it is too painful.

ie MCCAIN’S COMMENT:– This is how i took what he said. I don’t know if he phrased it well etc– But I think what he’s saying is somehow many women/people are okay w/ misogyny/sexism etc as long as it pays lip service to their cause (reproductive rights for example etc). This to me is the opposite of feminism; shouldn’t we stand up for all women? She belongs to a group called “feminists for life” which has a website. I haven’t thoroughly explored it. I didn’t take McCain’s comment to say she was anti- feminist etc quite the opposite just that the current liberal feminist mantra doesn’t include women like her :( – We’ve all wondered where the outrage is from NOW etc– The New Agenda group and many other feminist groups have been speaking out though. And I know very conservative women that would be part of the so called repub “base” that really rally for her/ defend her. That’s how I took the statement anyway. I heard someone explain this very well to that person who created the offensive “drill baby drill” video. Those that read the thread will remember he tries to explain he’s actually protecting pro-choice women under the guise of this ultra derogatory video that promoted violence on women particularly gov. Palin.

We should also post Obama’s rally schedule on the blog daily so that people who have time and a well positioned “Democrats for McCain” can give us a much needed voice.

I called “Friends of Hillary” at the number posted by mzebest #179 to politely request a refund of my contributions, after reading the suggestion on the previous thread. I also posted a summary there. I humbly suggest other PUMAs do the same. It’s one of the only ways we have to get the Clinton’s attention and express our extreme disappointment in their continued support for the corrupt, fraudulent, sexist/misogynistic/male supremacist BO and his campaign’s thug-like tactics. I think my few dollars will be better “spread around” by contributing to Heidi Li and Marc at Democrats for Principle Before Party so they can continue their work to uphold the principles and processes of democracy on which this nation was founded.

I continue to post comments here and elsewhere on the JSND coalition site (it took me a while to be able to post here, for some reason). Also continue to post on gretawire. I visit JSND and its coalition blogs frequently and read all the latest, taking ‘actions’ as suggested. (JSND and its coalition blogs are my primary news source. I can no longer bear to watch the MSM news, except for Fox.)

I continue to e-mail those on my contact list to share the latest article or videos so they can share with their contacts. (I’m at odds with my son and one or two friends over this election. It causes me deep pain.)

I e-mailed the U.S. AG to urge immediate investigation and appropriate action re the legal issues surrounding this election. I’m working on an e-mail to the state AG’s, starting with the swing states. Any suggestions?

I’ll be calling voters for McCain via the virtual phone bank.

I continue to research to the extent that I can (given the huge amount of material being scrubbed from the internet by the BO camp) to try to uncover and expose more of the facts about BO and ‘connect the dots.’

Thanks to all PUMAs for all that you’ve done and continue to do! Thanks to Murphy for the safe harbor, great threads/artwork, unfailing sense of humor and can-do spirit!

I am also using my facebook page to communicate my t houghts, posting puma videos etc. I make sure that people know I am a democrat but will not be supporting Obama. I tell people about PUMA and what it stands for and why so many of us were disenchanted in the first place. I tell people that once upon a time not long ago I thought that the democrats spoke for those who couldn’t speak for themselves. I tell them of my family in KY who had pictures of FDR on the wall, when they tell me I’m not a sincere democrat supporter. With friends like Obama’s (Farrakhan, Quaddafi, Ayers, Rezko, Wright just to name a few) the question comes to mind…

WHY would anyone want as their leader someone who has picked as his friends and associates people who hate America?

If it were just one or two it could be easier to explain… but how many of his long-time friends and associates do NOT hate America compared to how many DO???

What does BO have in mind for America?

How can we trust him?

It truly amazes me that people can want such a man as their leader and feel OK about entrusting our nation into his hands……

Your northern neighbor WROTE:

Landi… I thought what Rancho said to the little girl the other day was right on: “You shouldn’t steal other’s votes”

it might sound crazy, but that how it works, research on it

Joe Biden was speaking at a fundraising event Sunday in Seattle and said some pretty bizarre and spooky things. For example, he said:

‘mark my words…watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, ‘Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don’t know about that decision. Because if you think the decision is sound when they’re made, which I believe you will when they’re made, they’re not likely to be as popular as they are sound. Because if they’re popular, they’re probably not sound.”

Senator Biden sounds just like I do when I have had to much to drink… Does Senator Biden have a drinking problem, and if he does maybe that is why Obama chose him.

If Obama wins the presidency, they will just keep Senator Biden drunk all the time and that way he will be ineffectual and Obama can then enforce all three of your stated possibilities from above.

ICYMI: The San Diego Union-Tribune And San Antonio Express-News Endorse John McCain

“In our analysis, Republican candidate John McCain has a documented record of enlightened leadership in Washington — leadership that often has run counter to the status quo and challenged the folly of senior members of his own party. McCain never has been a conventional politician. He thinks for himself and acts on what he believes to be in the best interests of the nation, and not necessarily in the interests of his party or his own political fortunes.” — The San Diego Union-Tribune

“McCain brings a proven track record of fighting the bipartisan fiscal irresponsibility that prevails in Washington. He is a powerful opponent of wasteful earmarks, which the Arizona senator properly describes as a ‘gateway drug’ to corruption. There can be no doubt that he would wield the veto pen against the excesses of Congress, no matter which party sits in the majority. With deficit spending soaring, his dedication to responsible fiscal policy is desperately needed in the White House.” — San Antonio Express-News

Sarah’s comments regarding her SNL appearance.

*********************************************
Dear Supporter,

If you caught my guest appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, you may have seen an ad or two (or twenty) from Senator Obama’s campaign.

This barrage of advertising is adding up to the most expensive negative ad buy in political history. And these ads are funded with the nearly $200 million the Obama campaign and the DNC raised in September.

With this new money, they’ll only step up their media buying efforts to flood every network with ads attacking our shared values. These ads are full of inaccurate information designed to mislead voters in key media markets.

We need your support to stop the Obama-Biden Democrats’ media buying binge. Your immediate contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more will help fund our team’s ads in key media markets across the country.

The current media buying gap is a direct result of Senator Obama’s broken pledge to accept public financing. This summer, Senator Obama chose to break his promise to the American people by opting out of the public financing system. But, you can be sure that our entire team will honor all of the promises we make in this campaign because we are men and women of our word.

Our team of reformers has a plan to take America in a new direction. Our economic policies focus on providing economic relief to those who need it most. While the Obama-Biden Democrats say they want to “spread the wealth around,” our team won’t support economic policies that punish Americans for working hard and pursuing the American Dream.

I’m asking you today to help our team get this message out. The funds you give today will help pay for upcoming ad buys and get-out-the-vote efforts.

If Senator Obama is elected and Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid are in charge of Congress, there will be nothing stopping them from raising your taxes, immediately pulling out of Iraq and placing your healthcare decisions in the hands of government bureaucrats.

We can’t let this happen and that’s why your financial support is so critical to our efforts. Every dollar we raise goes directly to help fund media buys and get-out-the-vote efforts in important races across the country. So, please make the most generous contribution you can give – whether its $25 or $250. We’re certainly grateful for any help you can give. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Governor Sarah Palin

P.S. Are you tired of watching the barrage of liberal television ads the Obama-Biden Democrats are running? If so, then I ask that you help us close the media buying gap by making a generous contribution of any amount to McCain-Palin Victory 2008. And if you can give $75 or more today, we’ll send you an exclusive McCain-Palin Victory 2008 lapel pin to show your support during the final days of the campaign. We appreciate your support

Palin Introduces Ed The Dairyman

By Lauren E. Toney, Roswell Daily Record
October 20, 2008

Article Excerpt:

Instead of Joe the Plumber, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin focused her attention on Ed the Dairyman Sunday during a rally at a Roswell airplane hangar.

The Alaska governor spoke to a crowd of more than 10,000, addressing the economic crisis and southeastern New Mexico’s small-business owners, including Ed the Dairyman, who identified himself amidst the masses by holding a sign.

“Barack Obama calls it spreading the wealth. Joe Biden calls higher taxes patriotic,” Palin said. “But Joe the Plumber and Ed the Dairyman, I believe they think it sounds more like socialism.”

Palin explained under Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s leadership, every American would experience lower taxes, and small-business owners such as Ed the Dairyman would be able to keep more of what they earn.

Following McCain’s references to Joe Wurzelbacher, a plumber from Holland, Ohio, last week, several audience member’s identified themselves in a similar manner as teachers, accountants, golfers, and nurses Sunday on T-shirts and signs.

Addressing the region’s energy industry, Palin encouraged the consideration of clean coal, wind and solar energy possibilities. The crowd chanted, “Drill, baby, drill,” as she called for increased drilling in the United States to reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil.

Like many others, Ken Swinney, who works for a Hobbs oil company, said he was pleased to hear Palin’s opinions on the nation’s oil industry “straight from the horse’s mouth,” and to show his support for the candidate.

Following the rally, Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., who helped to introduce Palin, said, “She touched on every issue that’s significant to southeastern New Mexico and the rest of the nation.”

With 16 days left before the Nov. 4 general election, the retiring lawmaker said Palin’s Roswell visit will help to excite voters in the swing state. “In New Mexico it’s going to be close,” he said. “Hopefully (Palin’s) message will excite voters enough to spread the word.”

Chaves County Republican Party Chairman Will Cavin estimated about 15,000 attended the rally, which he said was most likely “the county’s largest political event ever.” Cavin reported about 7,000 audience members came from across Chaves County, while others traveled from Texas, Arizona, and throughout New Mexico.

Cavin said the enthusiasm of Sunday’s crowd may have even surpassed that of the audience at the Republican National Convetion at which he served as a delegate.

“People were highly involved and highly enthusiastic in supporting (Palin) and our core values as Republicans,” he said.

Thousands stood in the crowded hangar for up to five hours awaiting Palin’s appearance Sunday afternoon. Waving American flags and fanning themselves with campaign posters as they waited, many said they were most anxious to hear Palin’s take on the nation’s economic crisis. State Rep. Anna Crook, R-Clovis, who was among Sunday’s crowd, said, “The economy is a concern to our entire nation, but I believe under the leadership of (McCain and Palin), we will solve this crisis.”

Like many others, 19-year-old Erin Steinback, of Artesia, said after watching Palin on television numerous times, she was just anxious to see the vice presidential candidate in person.

Singer and songwriter Hank Williams Jr. riled up the anxious crowd prior to Palin’s arrival with his blend of country, rock, and blues. Tweaking the lyrics to his “Family Tradition,” Williams made several references to Roswell and New Mexico, which were received by cheers and roars of applause.

Roswell Reps. Candy Spence Ezzell and Nora Espinoza helped to kicked off Sunday’s female-dominated event. Meredith Tinsley, wife of 2nd Congressional District candidate Ed Tinsley, and Cynthia Pearce, who is married to U.S. Senatorial candidate Rep. Steve Pearce, also spoke on behalf of their husbands, emphasizing family values and conservative principles.

Following the rally, Ezzell said the nation needs candidates like Palin and McCain who can identify with Joe the Plumber, and New Mexico’s own Ed the Dairyman.

FYI

Pelosi Rescue Pork

AS WILL RODGERS OFTEN SAID “WE HAVE THE BEST CONGRESS THAT MONEY CAN BUY”

Facts:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s home district includes San Francisco .

Star-Kist Tuna’s headquarters are in San Francisco , Pelosi’s home district.

Star-Kist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a major contributor to Pelosi.

Star-Kist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the Samoan workforce.

Paul Pelosi, Nancy ’s husband, owns $17 million dollars of Star-Kist stock.

In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25, Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte would not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte products less expensive than their competition’s.

Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an ‘economic development credit in American Samoa ‘.

Pelosi has called the Bush Administration ‘corrupt’.

She should know.

“‘F’ For Barack’s School Fix”
By Carl Campanile
New York Post
October 20, 2008

Chicago’s former schools chief has flunked the education foundation headed by Barack Obama and founded by 1960s terrorist Bill Ayers – saying it failed to monitor projects and funded school “reform” groups that campaigned against boosting academic standards.

“There was a total lack of accountability. If you went back and asked, you’d be hard-pressed to find out how the money was spent,” said Paul Vallas, the city’s school superintendent when Obama chaired the Chicago Annenberg Foundation from 1995 to 1999.

Annenberg spent $49.5 million, mostly on grants to 211 public schools that partnered with community-based groups. But despite collecting millions, those schools performed no better than other public schools, a study found.

Ayers, a professor of education at the University of Illinois and an ex-Weather Underground bomber, wrote the grant that won the Windy City funding from the national Annenberg Challenge. He was a key adviser to the Chicago Annenberg board.

While much debate has centered on Obama’s relationship with Ayers, there’s been virtually no discussion about how the Annenberg schools performed.

“Very little of the money found its way directly into the classroom,” Vallas said.

Most frustrating, Vallas said, was that Annenberg under Obama and Ayers funded groups that fought his mission, under Mayor Richard Daley, to impose uniform standards and stricter accountability in low-performing schools.

Many of Vallas’ goals were later adopted by Mayor Bloomberg in Big Apple schools.

“Many of the school-reform groups viewed greater accountability as an infringement of local control. Some opposed ending social promotion and grade retention,” Vallas said.

Obama defended the foundation’s performance, saying it dispensed its funds to help struggling programs and train teachers.

BO has not yet filed his September FEC report due today and there are some strange filings with donations reported for October and a revised report for July. Do you think there is some problem?

I did look at the BO Victory Fund and he transferred $59 million out of there. The DNC had in and out transfers. It all looks messy but I hope to be able to sort through it once it comes out.

My daughter takes a class, philosophy of love, sex and marriage. Her professor is a buddhist and invites her friends from the temple to sit in on her classes, my daughter is a staunch supporter of McCain, in class, one of the women from the temple started to talk about the tranformational Obama, she and the students were on a roll, they were comparing Obama to…get this, The dalai lama and Gandhi, my daughter was so pissed she broke out in hives, she said she thought that one could see the steam coming from her ears. She was very upset, she says she really likes the professor and that she usually does not allow politics into the classroom. My daughter is very active in the class discussions, but was so angry that she would not speak, even when they started in on the class at hand, she said the professor worked very hard at engaging her on various topics but my kid was having none of that, the professor asked if she was o.k, although she knew she was not. So after class my daughter e-mailed the prof, to tell her how out of line she was in allowing that to happen, she also told her that if it happened again she would go to the dean and tell him that it was a little odd that non-students were able to lead discussions in class while she had to pay to be there. She ended her e-mail with Obama is neither the dalai lama nor gandhi and if anyone truly believes that, they belong in a rubber room.

JOANNE – Here’s something I just put together. It needs to be edited. Maybe Landi or someone will have ideas. Also, I don’t know the correct terminology when it comes to “Hispanic”, “Latino”, etc. Perhaps Lara08 or someone else can clarify that.

In other words, I don’t think this is good to go as it, but if you like the framework, with a bit of tweaking, it might be something you can use.
—————————————————-

This letter is written regarding the upcoming Presidential election. I write it as a proud American and as a Floridian.

First, we most make sure we do not elect Barack Obama, a man with scant experience for this most awesome job of President of the United States. The stakes are too high, the threats are too great, and there is no time for on-the-job training. One misstep by a novice in the Oval Office and we may not live to see another day.

Second, Florida’s unique gifts and challenges beg for the leadership of John McCain. Our senior citizens deserve a President with experience on vital matters vital, including Social Security and Medicare. John McCain has the experience and compassion to make sure senior’s needs continue to be met.

Our Jewish population cannot afford to have a President who embraced Reverend Wright, who spewed anti-Semitic rants and honored Farrakhan with a Lifetime Achievement award. Jews in Florida and across America need a leader in Washington who they can trust will have their best interests, and the interest of Israel, at heart. That leader is John McCain.

Florida’s Hispanics, who have a long and proud history of embracing the American dream through hard work and sacrifice, also deserve a leader who understands specific cultural issues. As a Senator who has represented Arizona, another great state with a large Hispanic population, John McCain understands the complex issues facing Hispanics and Latinos in America. And those Floridians of Cuban descent understand first hand the dangers of living in a communist state founded on Marxist ideology, an ideology embraced by Barack Obama. Here again, John McCain, is the right choice for President.

But most of all, Floridians, like all Americans, no matter what their nation of origin, their age, or their religion, deserve a President they can trust. We deserve someone who does not hide information, who does not accuse those who do not agree with him as being racist. We deserve a President who does not have a history of associations with hate mongers, convicted felons or former terrorists. For these and so many reasons, there is only one clear choice on election day: John McCain. Good for Florida. Good for the country.

Please find an urgent letter from our Sponsor, the National Republican Trust PAC. Dick Morris, Fox News analyst, has said, “The National Republican Trust is a very effective organization that can make a huge difference on election day.”

Newsmax.com

Dear Supporter:
Imagine what they have thrown at John McCain and Sarah Palin — vicious personal attacks, constant media spin, a blizzard of attack ads paid for by Obama’s war chest filled with hundreds of millions of dollars of questionable donations.

Yet McCain-Palin are not only still standing, they are close to winning in almost every battleground state.

More good news: the latest NBC poll out this weekend actually shows McCain ahead of Obama in Ohio by one point.

This is incredible. If McCain can win Ohio and inch up in other key states . . . he and Sarah win!

You should know that with your donations the National Republican Trust PAC has been airing and pounding our new TV ad in three major markets and statewide networks in Ohio during the past week.

We believe our ad which exposes Barack Obama is a key reason McCain is seeing a turnaround in Ohio!

As you may know, Dick Morris, the Fox News analyst, has praised our group. Dick said: “The National Republican Trust is a very effective organization that can make a huge difference on election day.”

Well, we are having a huge effect thanks to your help!

Our TV ad exposes Obama’s dangerous and radical plan to give driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.

It is such a radical plan even Hillary opposed it.

You can help us expose the radical Obama — Go Here Now

Please understand that this is an issue that moves voters.

A recent Zogby foll found that an amazing 20 percent of Democrats and 52 percent of independents said they would be less likely to vote for Obama if he backed such a plan.

Even Black and Hispanics could shift in big numbers. The Zogby numbers showed 28 percent of Hispanics and 42 percent of Blacks said they would be less likely to vote for Obama if he backs such a plan.

Well, we know it’s not if, because Obama has backed this radical plan not only the Democratic primaries, but in the Illinois State Senate.

Make no mistake about it: Obama is the most radical leftist ever nominated by the Democratic party.

He must be stopped. He can be stopped.

You can stop him — Go Here Now

Right now we are firming up our ad buy for this weekend in three critical battleground states. We have 3 new TV ads in the works to roll out.

But we need your continued donations to help us get our message out.

You can help by Going Here Now

Remember, the maximum donation to us is $5000, but any amount helps.

You have shown faith in us and we will are demonstrating to you our commitment to get the job done.

Thank you again.

Yours for America,

Scott Wheeler

P.S. Just to show you what impact you can have, if you were to donate $2500 I could blanket a whole major market in a battleground state with a full day’s worth of TV ads exposing Obama.

You can make a difference — help us — Go Here Now

Okay, so now many of you have already received your ballot.
So vote, and vote quickly.
If you are unsure about some of the issues, call the Dems office. If you would like to know more about a candidate race, call the Dems office. If you are all set and know who and what you are going to vote for, do it now! (one big benefit will be, you should receive NO MORE Campaign phone calls ), then what should you do….

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Some good talking points and lines RE: the Ayers issue:
…..

Obama worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers for years.

Their relationship goes much deeper than we were led to believe.

This guy, along with his Weathermen buddies, bombed buildings.

Deaths and near-deaths resulted from the Weathermen’s activities.

The only difference between Bill Ayers and Timothy McVeigh is the death toll!

The case against Ayers was thrown out of court because of misconduct by investigators (and his daddy’s wealth!).

If Ayers would have been given a proper trial, he’d probably still be in jail!

Have we gone nuts in 2008? In the past, we would have never even considered someone with such a shady history as Obama!

How can we put someone (in the White House) to deal with terrorism who hung out with an unrepentant terrorist for so many years?

How can we elect someone to be our Commander In Chief who, for years, was so closely associated with an unrepentant terrorist?

Imagine if McCain had been associated with someone who had bombed abortion clinics… he’d be un-electable!

Jeremy:

About 5 years ago, Paul Vallas left Chicago to become the Supt. of Phila Public Schools. At the time, I wondered why he would leave a larger city, to work in Philly. Philly public schools were having a lot of violence in them at the time.

Vallas left Philly in 2007. I believe he went to Florida to work.

The Annenberg Challenge gave out over $100 million dollars. The $50 million was a grant and one of the matching grants came from the City of Chicago.

Obama squandered over a $100 million in a failed program. Math and Science grant requests were turned down. Vallas is absolutely right.

So, Obama was a failure with a $100 million program, voted present over 100 times, advocated only controversial legislation as a state senator and has been unremarkable as a US senator. Chairman of a Foreign Relations subcommittee and has not held one hearing or any substantive meetings.

What in the world are we doing with him as a nominee for President. If he gets elected, we’re all in big trouble.

Below is the response from Angela Trigg at angela@campaignwindow.com.

I posted about this earlier.

Does anybody else think that Joe Smirky Biden’s words today were bizarre???

Basically, he’s acknowledging that BO’s lack of foreign-policy experience will provoke America’s enemies into creating an international crisis.

His comments need to be used in McCains’s next ad.

Here’s what Biden said:

“Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

“I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate,” Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. “And he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you – not financially to help him – we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”

I think our biggest obstacle is the health care debate. It shouldn’t be. The thing we have to keep in mind is that ALL LEGISLATION including health care legislation STARTS IN THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH. Any senator or representative can propose any type of health care bill that they want to. All the president has to do is agree. Since the democrats control both houses of government, almost with a veto proof majority, the democrats can propose away.

I had a discussion with a nurses aid this evening. She was worried about the things Obama says about McCain and health care. One I explained it, she is dead set against Obama.

John Kerry can bug off. I am so sick of the sexism, ageism, I could scream. Who do they think they are. They hate old people too. Is there anything sacred in the democratic party anymore.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/10/obama-backing-s.html

At a business summit on energy, Politickerma.com reports, a prominent supporter of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Mass., made a crack about Sen. John McCain’s age.

“These are the exciting last two week moments of the presidential campaign,” said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., today in Cambridge, Mass. “So it’s a very special time. I can’t wait for it to be over. I am so tired of the press’ silly questions that they ask along the way. And cable television which reduces everything to stupidity – the lowest common denominator of conflict.”

“I don’t know if any of you know what it’s like. I do, obviously,” Kerry told the crowd. “I’ve been asked all of those brilliant questions that were repeated this year…Barack got asked the famous boxers or briefs question. I was tempted to say commando…

“Then they asked McCain and McCain said, ‘Depends,’” Kerry said.

#324 ChristineRI on 10.20.08 at 8:51 pm

Reposting because I think it’s important that McCain’s statement is clarified.

The early feminist movement’s main objective was to break the mold that all women were expected to fit. While great strides were made to do just this, what followed was another mold, fashioned by the very women who had spent years promoting independence, individuality and courage of convictions.

NOW has proven that those who do not fit this mold do not warrant encouragement and support.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

BARACK OBAMA: The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a change!

The chicken wanted change!

JOHN MC CAIN: My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON: When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure that every chicken in this country

gets the chance it deserves to cross the road.

But then, this really isn’t about me.

GEORGE W. BUSH: We don’t really care why the chicken crossed the road.

We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not.

The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here.

DICK CHENEY: Where’s my gun?

COLIN POWELL: Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road.

BILL CLINTON: I did not cross the road with that chicken. What is your definition of chicken?

AL GORE: I invented the chicken.

JOHN KERRY: Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it!

It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken’s intentions.

I am not for it now, and will remain against it.

AL SHARPTON: Why are all the chickens white? We need some black chickens.

DR. PHIL: The problem we have here is that this chicken won’t realize that he must first deal with the problem on this side of the road before it goes after the problem on the other side of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he’s acting by not taking on his current problems before adding new problems.

OPRAH: Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems,

which is why he wants to cross this road so bad.

So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls,

which is a part of life, I’m going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens.

ANDERSON COOPER, CNN: We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to h ave access to the other side of the road.

NANCY GRACE: That chicken crossed the road because he’s guilty!

You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks.

PAT BUCHANAN: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American.

MARTHA STEWART: No one called me to warn me which way that chicken was going.

I had a standing order at the Farmer’s Market to sell my eggs

when the price dropped to a certain level.

No little bird gave me any insider information.

DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road?

Did he cross it with a toad?

Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I’ve not been told.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die in the rain, alone.

JERRY FALWELL: Because the chicken was gay!

Can’t you people see the plain truth? That’s why they call it the other side.

Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay.

And if you eat that chicken, you will become gay, too.

I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media whitewashes with seemingly harmless phrases like the other side…

That chicken should not be crossing the road. It’s as plain and as simple as that.

GRANDPA: In my day we didn’t ask why the chicken crossed the road.

Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough.

BARBARA WALTERS: Isn’t that interesting?

In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its lifelong dream of crossing the road.

ARISTOTLE: It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

JOHN LENNON: Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together, in peace.

BILL GATES: I have just released eChicken 2008, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your checkbook.

Internet Explorer is an integral part of eChicken 2008.

This new platform is much more stable and will never crash or need to be rebooted.

ALBERT EINSTEIN: Did the chicken really cross the road,

or did the road move beneath the chicken?

COLONEL SANDERS: Did I miss one?

Obama’s Plan for Illegal Driver’s Licenses Attacked

Friday, October 17, 2008 2:27 PM

By: David Patten and Newsmax Staff Article Font Size

Back during the heated days of the Democratic primary, Sen. Barack Obama made a crucial decision to appeal to his party’s most liberal base: He embraced the idea of giving driver’s licenses to any illegal immigrant who wanted one.

Hillary Clinton decided to oppose such a concept. Her chief strategist, Mark Penn, warned her she could not win the general election taking such a position.

Now, if a Republican group has its way, Obama will suffer defeat at the polls for supporting such a program.

The National Republican Trust Political Action Committee (NRTrust PAC) has launched a new TV ad hitting Obama on the issue of licenses for illegals, linking his position to the devastating terror attacks of Sept. 11.

VIDEO: NRTP: Obama Wants Driver’s Licenses for Illegals

“Nineteen terrorists infiltrate the U.S.,” the 30-second NRTrust ad begins.

“Thirteen get driver’s licenses. The 9/11 plot depended on easy-to-get licenses,” a women narrator reveals as images of a burning World Trade Center are juxtaposed with a mock up of Mohammed Atta’s Florida driver’s license. Atta was fingered as the ringleader of the 9/11 terror attacks.

“Obama is the most radical liberal ever to be nominated by the Democratic Party,” Scott Wheeler, executive director of the NRTrust, told Newsmax. “The driver’s license is just one of many issues that proves it.”

His Web site [www.nationalrepublicantrust.com] cites a 2007 Rasmussen poll showing that 77 percent of voters oppose granting illegal immigrants driver’s licenses.

A recent Newsmax/Zogby poll on the question found that 46 percent of voters said they would be less likely to vote for Obama if he backed the idea of driver’s licenses for illegals. (Thirty-eight percent of voters said they were “much less” likely to vote for him under those circumstances.)

The Zogby data suggests the issue could hurt Obama across party lines. Almost 20 percent of Democrats and 52 percent of independents said they would be less likely to vote for him if he backed such a license plan.

Though white voters strongly opposed Obama’s plan (50 percent), core Democratic groups also were negative on the issue, with 29 percent of Hispanics and 42 percent of blacks saying they would be less likely to vote for him with such a plan.

Wheeler’s group quotes political strategist Dick Morris as praising NRTrust as “a very effective organization” and saying the driver’s license issue could “make a huge difference on Election Day.”

Wheeler says his group has raised $500,000 and has close to 10,000 donors. He has raised his organizations profile by advertising on conservative Web sites, including ads on Newsmax, Human Events, GOPusa, and other sites. His organization said it is rolling its first ad in key swing states this weekend.

Hillary vs. Obama on Driver’s Licenses

The controversy over driver’s licenses for illegals was touched off in September 2007 when then-New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer ordered state officials to grant them licenses.

The issue drew more attention during the October 2007 Democratic primary debate at Drexel University, when Sen. Hillary Clinton fumbled a question from the late Tim Russert over whether she supported Spitzer’s plan.

“It makes a lot of sense,” Clinton said. “What is the governor supposed to do? He is dealing with a serious problem. We have failed. And George Bush has failed . . . We should have passed immigration reform.”

Obama jumped on Clinton’s answer as unclear, saying he still couldn’t tell whether she supported granting driver’s licenses to illegals. But Obama left little doubt where he stood on the issue.

“I think that it is the right idea,” Obama declared, adding that licensing and insuring illegals is “a public safety concern.”

“We can make sure that drivers who are illegal come out of the shadows, that they can be tracked, that they are properly trained, and that will make our roads safer,” he said. “That doesn’t negate the need for us to reform illegal immigration.”

In the days that followed the Drexel debate, critics blasted Spitzer’s proposal. Polls showed that the issue was sinking Spitzer’s approval ratings even in heavily Democratic New York.

Critics warned that giving illegal immigrants licenses would be a security nightmare, allowing terrorists to travel on planes, rent trucks and vans, and move about the country with ease, and without detection or scrutiny.

In October 2007, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff called Spitzer to voice concerns that New York’s initiative could undermine federal plans to enhance security and improve documentation.

In the aftermath of 9/11, authorities reported that the 19 terrorists involved in the attacks had obtained 13 driver’s licenses, plus 21 federal or state-issued ID cards.

The Wall Street Journal reported that eight of the 9/11 terrorists were registered to vote.

About two weeks after the call from Chertoff, Spitzer announced he would drop his proposal.

The political fireworks in the Democratic primary were just beginning, however. The day Spitzer withdrew his driver’s license plan, Clinton released a statement saying, “I support Governor Spitzer’s decision today to withdraw his proposal.

“As president,” she continued, “I will not support driver’s licenses for undocumented people, and will press for comprehensive immigration reform that deals with all of the issues around illegal immigration including border security and fixing our broken system.”

During the November Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas, moderator Wolf Blitzer raised the issue again, asking Obama whether he supported driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants.

Obama began by recounting that he had vigorously promoted the concept in the Illinois State Senate, where he said he voted to train, license, and insure illegals to operate motor vehicles, to “protect public safety.”

Not satisfied with that response, Blitzer asked again whether Obama supported granting licenses to illegals. This time, it was Obama who appeared to waffle.

“This is the kind of question that is sort of available for a yes-or-no answer,” Blitzer responded, drawing laughter from the audience.

Asked a third time whether he supported licenses for illegals, Obama eventually answered: “Yes,” but quickly added that he would fight for comprehensive immigration reform to address larger issues.

Wheeler argues that Obama’s position in support of licenses to help public safety is ludicrous.

“Imagine if a potential terrorist enters the U.S. but has no history of previous terror activity or has changed their identity,” Wheeler says, adding, “How does Obama weed such dangerous people out before giving them a driver’s license? You can’t.”

Sen. John McCain has stated he opposes driver’s licenses for illegals. He also has stated his opposition to any benefits for those who “have come here illegally and broke our law.”

In a February 2007 speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference, McCain said, “It would be among my highest priorities to secure our borders first, and only after we achieved widespread consensus that our borders are secure, would we address other aspects of the problem in a way that defends the rule of law and does not encourage another wave of illegal immigration.”

ANYONE – What does 527’s refer to?

*************************
A 527 group is a type of American tax-exempt organization named after a section of the United States tax code, 26 U.S.C. § 527. A 527 group is created primarily to influence the nomination, election, appointment or defeat of candidates for public office. Although candidate committees and political action committees are also created under Section 527, the term is generally used to refer to political organizations that are not regulated by the Federal Election Commission or by a state elections commission, and are not subject to the same contribution limits as PACs.

Compliments from wikipedia, if someone has not already answered your question..

#334 KarenWI on 10.20.08 at 9:00 pm

Presumably everybody heard what Biden said today about how we should expect other countries to “test” BO during the first 6 months as POTUS…. with a CREATED interntional crists? This is sure great for Mac to use… I hope he takes good advantage of it now!

Here’s an idea: Want to avoid an international crists in the near future? Vote for McCain-Palin (and play Biden saying that) ….

#335 pa dem on 10.20.08 at 9:00 pm

Will someone please wake me up from this nightmare? On one side, we have a friends with terrorists, fraudulent candidate who may not even be natural born and who would be the worst thing that ever happened to US/Israel since Carter. On the other side, we have a VP candidate who is for putting discrimination into the constitution to “protect” traditional marriage. Can’t she just say “leave it to the states to decide” like everyone else?

Being a PUMA, we all know which candidate I’m picking, but I wish I knew why the decision has to be so difficult.

Thank you for your support on my idea (post #40). And like you mentioned, Worker Bee, I too felt cleansed in doing so. I may or may not get the money back… they said they would send an email informing me of any updates on the request — but I did feel a deep satisfaction in using this means of protest in getting my feelings known about stomping for a candidate that is dripping in corruption (which is how I expressed it).

McCain has this as the top of his newest thread on his blog site: “In Case You Missed It: “F’ For Barack’s School Fix”

‘Chicago’s former schools chief has flunked the education foundation headed by Barack Obama and founded by 1960s terrorist Bill Ayers – saying it failed to monitor projects and funded school ‘reform’ groups that campaigned against boosting academic standards.” — New York Post’

It may help to look at it this way:

On one hand we have a lying weasel (my apologies to the weasel species) who will SAY anything to get into the office of president.

On the other hand we have a candidate for VP (who may never even hold the office of president) who will at least honestly speak her mind, without having to check the direction of the political winds and concoct an appropriate lie first.

Sill a no-brainer for me.

#376 and #377—ABC took this out over a week ago and called it bogus. I read the story from the ABC report and blog. No offense to Ed Hale fans, but he has come up short more than this one. Come on—an organization that says they have something, but keeps pulling strings not to let it out—over and over—not credible. However, in the long run, the 527 lie and front COULD and WILL hurt Baracko. The best news is that the McCain-Palin camp did not mention it and stayed clear. Maybe this is why BamBam is going to Hawaii to see grandma. His fraud 527 got caught by Ed Hale! LOL

I wouldn’t worry about the gay marriage issue. Palin supports benefits, hospital visitation rights etc. Bozo does not support gay marriage either and he’s supposedly the most liberal in the Senate. McCain has voted against any federal amendment to the Constitution regarding traditional marriage. He thinks it should be a state issue. In addition, the Dem Congress would never allow that as they voted Bush down on that as well as a few Repubs like McCain. It will continue to be left up to the states as it has been. I highly disagree with Repubs on this issue as well as others but we have bigger probs to deal with now rather than social issues so no worries on this or Roe v Wade.

OMG — alert — Obama is suspending his campaign to go to Hawaii to visit ailing grandma… wanna bet it’s really an emergency that has to do with his birth certificate and Andy Martin?

#421 mzebest on 10.20.08 at 10:02 pm

Did everyone hear the alert on Greta?

#422 mzebest on 10.20.08 at 10:02 pm

Bet Andy Martin is on to something… hope his life isn’t in danger

#423 vadaryl on 10.20.08 at 10:03 pm

wait a sec he is going on Thrs. if she is so sick why is he waiting till thrs.

#424 vadaryl on 10.20.08 at 10:04 pm

That is fishey to me. You go right away, you don’t wait, it could be to late. That is a long trip.

#425 mzebest on 10.20.08 at 10:04 pm

Greta said it was an emergency visit to see his ailing grandma because her health took a sudden turn for the worst… bet it’s his birth certificate health took a sudden turn for the worst… has anyone seen if his grandma is alive and allowed to be free? Or is she chained to a house and kept as a secret under wraps?

#426 vadaryl on 10.20.08 at 10:05 pm

If someone is so ill, this is monday, thrs is a few days away. Something does not add up here.

#427 mzebest on 10.20.08 at 10:07 pm

oops… I think everyone is upstairs… I’ll repost there too… I think that’s extremely fishy too. Let me get this straight… he wouldn’t suspend his campaign for an economic crisis… but he’s suspending his campaign to go to rush to Hawaii in three days from now?

PUMAS~ early this morning I went to API to read any updates. I was shocked to find that they had published an email between Ed Hale and Will Bower that the API said was sent by someone else~

I wrote Will and sent a copy of that email asking him if this was true~

Hi Will, would you please confirm that this is a fact that you were sent this email from Ed Hale? It has been posted on API and I just find that it is preposterous if it was sent to you from Ed that it would be out in circulation to others~ ??? I really wanted to believe that API has these tapes on MO and them being given to Phillip Berg for release soon but this email makes it sound like a big hoax! And why would Ed be so delusional to think he would be able to cash in on them in the first place?!

Please take a moment to let me know the truth as I have put so much effort and time into keeping NObama out of office~ as one PUMA to another.

hugs, Francine (aka: SouthJerseyPUMA)

this is what API had posted on the site saying someone sent this to them~

Subject: Audio Tape

Hi Will: I have been in contact with the African Press International, who ran the Michelle Obama story. I have talked to them about releasing the audio tape they have of her. It would appear that this is going to happen. The format will be, I will bring the reporter on and let them tell us how they obtained the tape, and then I will run the audio tape, and bring the reporter back on to verify that it is the real thing. Once I have this done, I will place it on my web site, file for and get a copyright on it. Once I have this done, I will contact you with the link. What I would like for you, since you live in Washington DC, to do is contact CNN, Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC and MSNBC. Let them listen to the audio tape. I will then take bid on this tape. The starting bid will be 2 million dollars. Once you have received the high bid, we will break the money down this way, 45% to Bar H Farms Inc, parent copy of Plains Radio network, 45% to African Press International and 10% for yourself. If you can do this, please call me at 806-447-0010. Thanks Ed

++++++++++++++

Will then went to the API site and commented he told Ed he was not interested~ and good luck…

I didnt hear from Will or so much as get a thanks for the heads up~ so I wrote Ed Hale this;

Subject: ED!!! say it isnt so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Date: 10/20/2008 12:45:50 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time
From: SouthJerseyPUMA@******************

Ed~ I really want to give you the benefit of doubt on this~ I have been paying attention to API on the release of those tapes that say they have where MO rants on racist~ today I go to see any updates and find your email that was sent to Will Bower (?) posted on the site.

TELL ME THAT YOU DIDNT SEND THIS OUT!!! IF YOU DID< I CANT TELL YOU HOW MUCH OF A FOOL YOU LOOK LIKE AND YOUR GET RICH QUICK SCHEME!!!! “”IF”" it is true~

I hope you have enough integrity to answer me as I have listened to your show for some time now~

say it isnt so?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

this was Ed’s reply to me;

yes I did send this out, however this was at their request. I contacted Will to see if there was any value to this. I had a agreement and still do to release the tape for no money. I am beginning to beleive that this whole thing is a hoax. Listen to my show tonight and you will hear the whole story with a conversation that I reorded with the Editor yesterday finalizing our agreement. Ed
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Now I have been told Ed is shuting down his page and whatever else he has….

my question is this: Why on God’s green earth would those people ever think of trusting Ed with such tapes??

IMHO~ I think Ed got caught in a big lie~

any opinions???????

Re: Joe Biden’s Remarks
Did anyone catch it in Colin Powell’s interview yesterday that he talked about the same thing.
He said that there would be a crisis on January 21 or 22 – that “we know it is coming we just don’t know what”.
Did I hear him right???
Is there a tape or transcript posted anywhere?
If so, two comments like that within 24 hours is very suspicious to me!

Is Joe Biden smoking crack? Two weeks before an election and he’s out there saying hey if you elect my running mate and I, there will be a major generated crisis to test my running mate and his experience. WTF. Hey Joe, if you haven’t noticed, we have plenty of problems right now so no thanks. I think I’ll elect the person who will deter these types of things from occurring.

Spread the wealth and a promised national security crisis? The idiots are destroying themselves. HAHAHA.

#200 Kat;
Oof! That justsaynodeal site is almost overwhelming!!

Reminds me of version of Murphy’s “Hate” poster I saw recently. Imagine, in the same typeface, “NOPE”. Heh.

2 Oregon MacDem Votes WILL be counted!
Thursday: Husband and I received Ballots.
Saturday: Voted, then not only drove our Ballots to the main P.O. , but walked them both inside the building and IN the mail slot — taking no chances!
First time in our lives either of us have ever voted Republican. But it sure felt great!
On the way home, we distributed the last of the flyers and sent emails.Got a full work week, but will try to do more PUMA prowls on off time. All of the url sends and articles you guys are posting are great. I’ve copy/pasted and sent some out tonight. Thanks Pumas!
