I posted before that I thought that the polling bias is covert sexism. Most of the pollsters and the mainstream media do NOT want to show how much impact Palin has on the race. She is drawing thousands upon thousands of people to her rally. Last night, I was channel surfing, and I never watch CNN. However, I saw they were going to talk about Palin’s rally in Richmond, so I stopped to watch it. They said that she had a huge crowd and that her crowds are getting bigger. Yet, they HAD to say that she is losing some in popularity. Of course, they had nothing to back it up. Then, they said that crowds usually get bigger at this point in an election. Oh, yeah? Biden draws big crowds? Obama draws big crowds? I don’t think so. Then, the clincher is when they asked a woman in the stands if she thought Palin was getting unfairly attacked in the media. The woman said yes. The woman then went on to say that she didn’t TRUST the media anyway. The CNN guy said where do you get your news from? She hesitated at first. I think she wanted to say FOX. It was obvious that she didn’t want to talk to a CNN person. Then, Campbell Brown says, Oh, we give fair and balanced coverage, so she can’t be talking about us. Give me a break. This is why I never watch CNN! They make me sick.

Good afternoon, my PUMA family! well, I finally got my internet service back at work, so perhaps I’ll be able to lurk and write something here, LOL. It has called my attention how I have been receiving LOTS of advertisement from “I want to be President”, lots of them, I have also received phone calls from volunteers and even young girls have showed up at my door doing some political campaign for the “apprentice”. I tild them that they’d better not knock at my door again, so I hope they won’t. But I have not received anything form the McCain/Palin campaign. Perhaps they have abandoned Florida, or what is going on here? I am still waiting for the big “kick” you know where to see if we can finally get passed November and this nightmare is over. In no way I am scared that he might win, but I don’t see McCain fighting this last month as they should. I just spoke to someone from demo party, and right now, I think there is a division,
Snowtiger, the problem is that the majority of small business file under their personal tax return. If you are registered as a partnership, llc, or single entrepeneur you generally file your business taxes as income on your personal tax return.
I have owned several businesses over the last 20 years and this is how I file. It is in this way that Obama will destroy small businesses and start a domino affect that with unemployment and all it entails.

WASHINGTON — An activist organization on Tuesday defended its voter registration practices amid new allegations of voter fraud and a call from Republican lawmakers to investigate irregularities.
In Ohio, Democrat Barack Obama told reporters that the group’s registration problems should not be used by the GOP as an excuse to keep voters from turning out on Election Day.
The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN, has registered 1.3 million young people, minorities and poor and working-class voters, the group says.
Some of those registration cards have become the focus of fraud investigations in Nevada, Connecticut, Missouri and at least five other states. Election officials in Ohio and North Carolina also recently questioned the group’s voter forms.
More than 13,000 workers in 21 states recruited less-fortunate voters, who tend to be Democrats.
“The vast, vast majority were dedicated workers,” ACORN spokesman Kevin Whelan said at a news conference on Tuesday. “They did something remarkable in bringing all these new voters.”
On Monday, election officials in Ohio’s most populous county asked a prosecutor to investigate multiple registrations by four people who signed up through ACORN. One voter said he signed 73 voter registration forms over a five-month period.
The North Carolina State Board of Elections is reviewing suspect voter forms from at least two counties.
Meanwhile, House Republicans have also renewed their push for the Justice Department to investigate the group. On Friday, six GOP leaders wrote to Attorney General Michael Mukasey to urge him to make sure ballots by ineligible or fraudulent voters are not counted on Nov. 4.
A law enforcement official said ACORN has been on the radar of federal investigators. But the official would not say whether an investigation has been opened, and spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue so close to the presidential election.
Whelan said ACORN staffers separate applications with missing or false information and flag them for election officials. All applications, including problematic cards, are handed in because some state laws require it, he said.
Whelan said he did not know how many registration cards had problems but believed it was a small percentage. He was unsure how many workers were fired for purposely turning in duplicates or applications with fake information, he said.
“If they look false, we identify them as such,” Whelan said of the forms.
ACORN has been drawn into a back-and-forth between the presidential campaigns.
Republican John McCain’s campaign on Tuesday said Obama should rein in ACORN’s efforts in order to fight voter fraud. The campaign accuses the Democratic presidential candidate of having close ties to the group.
Obama and two other lawyers in 1995 represented ACORN in a lawsuit against the state of Illinois to make voter registration easier. During this year’s primary, Obama hired a firm with ties to the group for a massive get-out-the-vote effort.
Obama told reporters on Tuesday that ACORN was not advising his campaign on voter registration.
Last week, McCain called for a federal investigation of the organization during a campaign rally. His campaign manager, Rick Davis, has said Obama’s connection to the activist group should be investigated.
“This is another one of those distractions that get stirred up during the campaign,” Obama said.

What is important is that people don’t realize that small business owner employ 84% of workers and that they file their taxes on their individual returns. When Obozo taxes them they will either close their doors and layoff everyone OR keep hanging in there by raising their prices and laying off some of their employees. Wow, I’m shocked there is not more discussion of this article this morning, particularly at this blog!! I thought pretty much all of us PUMAs were voting Nobama this year so that Hillary can run in 2012. And now she says she won’t. Aren’t any of you the least bit upset at this? Many of us did post and I am sure I speak for many Hillary supporters that are on the blog and that are only lurking these days (backed with emails)… when we expressed our support towards her on the blog it seems to start a barrage of attacks on her from so many on the blog that are disgusted with her stumping for obie, that it makes some of us feel so badly it is not worth discussing with them any more.
We do our best to not comment, just walk away from the blog.
We do not trash Hillary and we are still behind her and will be in 2012 if we throw the bums out in time. I have her black t-shirt on at work in Obamaland today, if that tells you anything.

I highly recommend a book written by her called “The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot.” It is a very thoughtful and intelligent comparison of how past empires have fallen and how America is following the same pattern. It motivated me to prepare to defend my freedom at all costs. I believe others on this blog would agree that we have to be vigilant and prepare for either or both parties (collaboratively) to attempt to end constitutional government.

Saw Sarah Palin at the Richmond, Va RIR rally and yes there were at least 20-25K there. Interestingly, it was held near a residential area that is heavily AA…but I could count on one hand the # of AA’s there…that made me sad. Contrast that rally with Bill Clinton’s at Richmond’s VCU campus on Sunday evening…only drawing a crowd of 3500 or so, from what I have heard. Maybe a good sign for Virginia??? I sure hope so.
Ran into a couple former Hillary supporters at the rally and told them about the PUMAs…think there are even more of our type voters out here than anyone realizes.

I want to take advantage of the moment to tell you I totally understand what you are going through with your kitty. My Poupee had hyperthyroidism. Unfortunately, it took my niece, a Vet assistant to tell me to get him to the Vet. There is an iodine treatment for the disease but Poupee’s case was too advanced for the treatment. He did live 5 more years, but if I had taken him sooner he could have lived longer. I believe that his last stages were advanced when he was left in the care of relatives that didn’t give him his medication as scheduled. When I returned home he was walking as you described. He did better after got him back on his medication, but it wasn’t a year before I had to have him put to sleep. Perhaps your kitty could benefit from the iodine treatment. They do tests to ascertain the advantages of the iodine treatment.

Like you, I’m also sick of the attacks, speculation, and assumptions about Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Perhaps not for the same reasons as you, but, it doesn’t seem to have much to do with our task at hand. I know it helps and it’s healthy to vent, but it’s always the same questions with no answers forthcoming. “Bloom where you’re planted” simply means: be in the present, the here and now. It doesn’t mean she won’t be running again, nor does it mean she will be running again. It just means she is focusing on the present as a senator. Senator Clinton has just been through a profoundly bruisng and corrupt primary season. She took all the sexist /misogygist bullets for us women. I support whatever she does from here on out. It is sad when people use their children as catalysts for political change. Impressionable young minds should be free to explore all arenas of political philosophy and choose for themselves what they believe and what they don’t believe without parents and other adults forcing it on them. Parents, teachers, and other adults should just be there to guide them and challenge them to think critically. There are ran by all Democrats and their policies don’t work! It destroyed our neighborhoods and our families. It’s hard to make it out here. I come from Cleveland, a city that has been ran by Democrats for decades. I know people that have had to break the law to survive because there’s no hope here. Anybody who knows anyone that had to live a violent life to survive knows that they would do anything not to have to go back to that life. They don’t enjoy it. It doesn’t make it right but it is sad that, as a result of our communities being turned into petri dishes by the left, that no one has any hope. No one believes in themselves anymore. They feel that there is no way out. Our schools are crap and 70 percent of black children are being born out of wedlock. When you’re that hopeless, it is easy to see how an entire race of people could be hoodwinked by some smooth talking Manchurian candidate.

I agree with you. I think that extremists on either end of the spectrum care more about their ideology than their kids. In my opinion Mao was a criminal of the worst kind. You can even see it today in African countries where petty dictators make sure every kid has an AK and ammo and tells them who to shoot at. If I had one wish it would be for anyone thinking of ways to initiate change to read Tolstoy and other philosophers who promote passive resistance as a means to create change without violence.

Hi lilibet. The vet called this am with kitty’s bloodwork. Interesting thing – she said all her parameters were normal. Her kidneys even showed a slight improvement since last bloodwork. Her thyroid levels went up slightly but still within the normal range. So we still do not know what is going on. She is slightly better today, but still walking like she forgets about her back end. It looks like a crab walk. Weird. I just hope it’s not a brain tumor or something. But she does not seem in pain or distress, and still eating. So I’m not too conerned right now. I just had to cat proof the house because she insists on getting up on things and then falls off!

Hello Pumas. The misogyny that the pervades Obama version of the Democratic Party is horrific. Over the past few days, my own thoughts have been crystallizing. I have been blogging about why enough is now enough, why we have to think quite hard about how we are going to reshape the political and social landscape in this country no matter who wins this election. I have not heard any male politician – or really any major politician- make the excellent observations Murphy makes in this post – they seem incapable of objecting to rampant and horrifying sexism.

161 snowtiger, that’s a good question. The problem is that some of those negative images of Black women in the ghetto are exacerbated by black women in the ghetto. It is such a vicious cycle. Women stop believing in themselves so they accept the title of “bitch”. Black men, who want strong, confident women, aren’t exposed to strong women because that’s not what’s in their neighborhood so they think that all women are bitches. Men perpetuate that image as a result of what they see and the cycle continues. It’s deeper than the “media”. I hear a lot of people talk about “negative images” that are in the media concerning black people and they look at that as if that is the problem. It’s only the symptom. It’s not the cause. The cause is something that I call “no daddy syndrome”. It affects men and women differently but it’s all a negative affect. Women who grow up without their fathers spend most of their lives looking for the love that they should’ve gotten from their father through another man. Because their self-esteem is low, they allow themselves to be treated like dirt. Men with “no daddy syndrome” grow up insecure of their manhood because they never had anyone to teach them how to be a man, so they feel the need to “assert” their manhood. “love” is no longer manly. It’s all about sex. That’s all they know. So when you take people that come from that lifestyle and that’s all they know, and then put them on TV or on the radio, you can’t expect them to do anything other than what they know. Sexism is serious and people in our neighborhoods are immune to it, but not because of the media. That’s only part of it. It’s because they are exposed to an uneven, unhealthy, dangerous lifestyle from the moment that they open their eyes for the first time. Remember, 70 percent of African Americans are born out of wedlock. It’s a vicious cycle but in order to fix it, the entire problem needs to be addressed, not just the symptoms.
Reducing business tax rates has the potential to stop and reverse the rise of unemployment, and could create millions of new jobs. Despite the frequent changes to my opponent’s tax plans in recent months — he seems to revise them with each new poll — his plan to raise taxes on 50% of small business income has survived. And even as he rails against companies that shut down their plants and move overseas, he refuses to cut the tax rate that drives many of these companies away.
A typical middle-class family of four making 42,000 dollars a year with health insurance will get 4,350 more dollars under my plan than they would under Senator Obama’s plan. That example of 42,000 a year in wages is especially relevant, because just last year Senator Obama voted to raise taxes on individuals making that amount.
Senator Obama is also the same fellow who requested a million dollars a day in pork barrel earmarks … who thinks that wasting 18 billion dollars a year in earmarks is not worth worrying about, who proposed a near doubling of the taxes on dividends and capital gains during the primary, who has voted 94 times for tax increases or against tax cuts, who is promising almost a trillion dollars in new spending, who came to the Senate a few years ago and already earned the title of its most liberal member — this is the man who now presents himself as a tax cutter and champion of middle-class America.
He is an eloquent speaker, but even he can’t turn a record of supporting higher taxes into a credible promise to cut taxes. What he promises today is the opposite of what he has done his entire career. Perhaps never before in history have the American people been asked to risk so much based on so little.
You can look at the record of what he’s done or you can just go with your gut, but either way you’re left with the same conclusion: Senator Obama is going to raise your taxes. And in this economy, raising taxes is the surest way to turn a recession into a depression.
Oh, one more thing: we wanted to buy a spot on Letterman the night McCain is appearing as a guest. In the space of a few hours the price for air time doubled. Obama is buying up TV air time at a whirlwind pace. You are right that we would have had a different course in history if the colonists had practiced passive resistance. Perhaps it would have been a superior course than what we currently have, a crumbling empire. We can never really now. I know that philosophy does put people in a precarious situation of how to defend themselves against aggression. But even though it may take longer and require more sacrifice, passive resistance can liberate people. Maybe its not a philosophy for everyone, people are entitled to their beliefs, for me it is my Christian faith that requires me to attempt to practice it (even though I don’t always succeed

I agree with several comments above. Even though I have not been a member of this group for long I do think that we should all begin formulating post-election strategies regardless of who wins. This group has great strength. People willing to spend countless hours sending thousands of email, posting flyers, and discussing ways to make America a better place.

But as a fellow Christian, don’t forget that Matthew 11:12 says that “And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence and the violent take it by force”, meaning that the “kingdom” was defended by force when necessary. Sometimes the only way to advance freedom is through force. At the beginning of the United States, we did not want to war with Great Britain but freedom would not be obtained without it. If it wasn’t for the Civil War, I wouldn’t be free. Sometimes Passive Resistance works, but it is not the answer to every solution. Biblically speaking, the reason that Israel even existed in the Old Testament is because people like Joshua, King David and King Solomon fought to advance and defend it. So while I agree with the principle, the fact is the Passive Resistance is not a “one-size-fits-all” solution.

197 murphy, it depends on the situation. Some fathers pay child support, others don’t. Some fathers are also raising the kids alone, and some of the mothers pay child support and others don’t. Sometimes either one or both of the parents are on drugs and, especially in men’s cases, they are in jail. (Black men born into poverty are 7 times more likely to go to prison than college.) My cousin’s father was a gang member and he was killed by being shot in the mouth. My other cousin’s mother was killed by being shot in the mouth. She had a kid and messed him up because, as a result of her trauma, she got hooked on drugs. Some mothers don’t even know who the fathers are. My best friend has never met his father. My other best friend’s parents broke up as a result of infidelity. My father was gone for most of my childhood after he was thrown out of my house as a result of my mother catching him cheating. My mother herself didn’t see her father for most of her life. He left when she was 3 and came back when she was 36. So, every situation has a different story. But to answer your question, yes sometimes child support is paid, but in our neighborhoods, child support is the least of their worries.
I am busy emailing every candidate on the ballot to ask them why I should vote for them. The responses are always interesting.

Good points. While I am prepared to defend my freedom, I am not sure if I would ever pick up a gun to do so. I guess its one of those situations where I’d have to be in that position to know what I would do. Sounds to me that the HIPPA LAW protecting patient rights have been violated. This place needs to be reported.
My grandma is in assisted living. You can’t get beyond the reception area until you sign in and show picture identification. Also, they have a patient’s list to cross verify if they know you and if you have been approved or given the “all clear” to visit or have access to their room. My grandma’s church has recently changed ministers and he tried to visit her. She did not know him and could not remember his name. We told her about the change but she forgot and did not write it down. We told the front reception about the change, though. But, she still had to give the permission for him to pass out of reception. He was denied access and called us regarding his attempt to visitation. We, then called her and reminded her about it and when he returned, only then, after her approval was he allowed to visit with her. Also, residents at this facility do have meetings from political organizations in whole group environments, but they can not ask for any specific identity or have residents fill out or sign anything. Hope this helps. The residence that was mentioned upthread needs to be reported. The HIPPA LAW protects patient privacy and access.

Just received my first Obat call on my cell phone number. It came up on my caller i.d. as “restricted.” I did not answer and they did not leave a voice mail. When I called the number back they identified themselves as Texans for Obama/Biden. I told them that I was returning a missed call and asked where they got my number. They said that they were not able to give me that information but that the number was on a list provided to the precinct and that I had put it down when I donated to the DNC. I quickly told them that I have NEVER and don’t plan in the future to donate to them or the frauds in charge of the DNC and that there was ONLY one place that the number was given and I proceeded to tell them where and who….they quickly cut me off. Donation lists have either been sold or hacked into. If you get a call that comes up RESTRICTED on your cell. Don’t answer and call back and see who it was. Now I am going to have to have my cell number changed.

Watching the TV show “Extra” a short while ago, they were discussing a movie about Obama that is in the works and speculating if Will Smith would play the role of the Messiah. We haven’t had the election yet, and they are already planning a movie about Obama. In the same show, they show Madonna ranting about Sarah Palin. It seems that the world has just gone mad.
My hope is that there are a lot of people out there who see the absurdity of all this, and who vote Mc Cain – Palin. However, my fear is that the U.S. as we knew it has already “Changed” and not for the better. Let’s just hope something happens in the next three weeks, and that we have a repeat of the 1948 election in which Truman trailed by 5-7% in the polls and won by 5%.

I just sent an updated analysis of the Gallup Poll weekly aggregates to Caracal Carrie (and Bill O’Reilly) for posting.
31% more Democrats than Republicans were included in the polling of October 6-12.
The bias correlates with the poll results. If they had sampled 11% more Democrats than Republicans, the weekly aggreagtes would have been tied.
Last night on Fox, Hannity asked Rasmussen why they were sampling 25% more Democrats than Republicans. He said,”bla bla bla”.

Although my polling place was filled, I was able to get one very close by. Just means I have to early vote since I won’t be at my precinct.

We need PUMAs at each voting booth where we think ACORN will bus people in. Photograph the bus and people, send them to a central cyber-location where other PUMAS can compare people and buses.

I must reiterate from a couple of posts I read upstream- I really think those of you considering not voting for McCain need to re-think- every vote for McCain is two against BO- but a no-vote keeps him even.
And think about the outcome- do we really want a lying thug in an empty suit running the country???
I could barely make my first few calls phone banking for McCain, I felt like such a phony- but part of the line is about being a democrat or Independent for McCain and that feels very good. I am a democrat voting for McCain
to put my country ahead of my (former) party.

We’d be able to see how many of us there really are out there and people would get curious after seeing it on everyone’s car everywhere they went. Of course there are some places here in Houston that I wouldn’t leave my car unattended with that on it.

Lufkin, TX (LifeNews.com) — A pro-life woman who received an unsolicited phone call from the Barack Obama campaign complained about his pro-abortion position. The call earned her a visit from the Secret Service, who were apparently given erroneous information from the campaign volunteer that she made a death threat.
Jessica Hughes of Texas says she received a phone call last Wednesday from a woman with the Obama Volunteers of Texarkana.
She told the Lufkin Daily News: “She asked if I was an Obama supporter, to which I replied, ‘No, I don’t support him. Your guy is a socialist who voted four times in the state Senate to let little babies die in hospital closets; I think you should find something better to do with your time.’ (And then) I hung up.”
Hughes was referring to bills in the Illinois legislature that Obama opposed that would have required medical personnel to provide appropriate medical care for babies who survive failed abortions. A Chicago nurse had exposed how some of the babies were left to die.
Her comment about abortion was apparently changed by the Obama volunteer and reported to the Secret Service, who are protecting both presidential candidates.
Two federal agents showed up at Hughes’ home on Thursday and asked her if she has said, “I will never support Obama and he will wind up dead on a hospital floor.”
Hughes told the Lufkin newspaper she is upset the Obama campaign would allege she had made a death threat and is considering filing a complaint.
“She has made a charge that will follow me the rest of my life,” she said. “I find that repugnant and violating — that some person got her undies in a bundle because she didn’t like what I had to say.”
Hughes went further than her comments to the newspaper in an email about the incident and indicated the Secret Service threatened her.
She indicated the agents asked her why the Obama campaign volunteer would make up the quote about her wanting Obama to die.
“I replied that I supposed she wasn’t happy about what I said about her candidate and the Agent said ‘That’s right, you were rude.’ The last time I checked being rude wasn’t a crime in America,” she said.
“Luckily the big file they had gathered on me didn’t indicate mental instability or a past life of stalking/crime, however they did want to know how I felt about Obama,” she said. “That was my limit. I told the Agent in no uncertain terms that my thoughts were not pertinent to their investigation, that this was America and the last time I checked I was allowed to think whatever I wanted without being questioned by the Secret Service.”
She said the agents admitted there was no tape of the call and threatened that she could wind up in court or they would talk to neighbors and associates if she didn’t cooperate.
“I recognized this as a veiled threat. I told them I would happily go to court since I did nothing wrong and at least then my accuser would have to face me rather than sending the thought police to my house,” Huhghes said.
Hughes said she asked the agents for their badge numbers and they refused to supply them to her.
Ultimately, Hughes said she worries what will happen to pro-life advocates and other dissidents if Obama is elected.
“Someone high in the ranks of a campaign working for a man who may be the next President of the United States of America felt comfortable bringing the force of the Federal Government to bear on a private citizen on nothing but the word of a partisan volunteer,” she concluded.

Problem is, it seems like equality, but it’s a joke. Assuming that any woman between 18-25 is suitable to be drafted, maybe even to the front lines, in hand-to-hand combat is foolish. Men are sometimes 10 times stronger than a woman…like gorillas, and war is not an every woman’s thing as far as physicality.
It could endanger lives to assume any woman between 18-25 can fight men.
Pull a trigger? Yes.
Fist fight? Carry the body of a fellow wounded soldier? Not so much. It’s different on the front lines and I don’t think just any random woman 18-25 is 100% ready for that. Selective service for women assumes that they are.

Here is some interesting information about Obama:
Barack Obama is not even legally a black American. He only has one black great-great-grandmother on his father’s side while the other 7 were Arab.
That makes him 50% white, 43.75% Arab, and 6.25% black. 12.5% is the minimum required to legally claim any racial status in America.
Obama would qualify as the first Arab-American president, NOT the first black president. That is why they keep saying “African-American” and NOT black because they know he is African Arab and not African black.
Of course the little black-lie will be told over, and over, and over again and he will rely on those eigth-grade educations he recently referred to his black supporters as having to get them to buy it.
So he is using the black population as well. HE DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT ANY OF US. He has his own agenda and it is heartbreaking. I was always such a devoted Democrat, and now I am homeless. I am certainly voting for McCain, and I know HRC will be back when it is time. She has been through hell, and I am sure her heart is broken by all the betrayal as well.
Not to mention, losing her dear friend and supporter Stephanie Tubbs Jones. I am praying everyday for justice, and I know prayer is very powerful!

O.K., I hate to even reference that quote, but Murphy posted it above and I had to read it. Clearly, the people dumb-ass Larry Flynt is trying to demean and therefore “destroy” are BO’s opponents (Republican women, HC). To me, that porno film seems like a kind of virtual rape (it is meant to demean). Although I don’t know too much about the psychology of rape, a few things I’ve read do discuss that rape is about controlling women. You can’t control Palin and HC because they are competent and smart, so you virtually rape them. Although Flynt and his idiotic friends are targeting any woman who speaks out against liberal men (and their main representative, BO), I think it is a cover for their general hatred of all women.
Which kind of takes me back to a conversation we had a while back. Many liberal white men from the 60s generation are big-time sexists and they are passing on their sexism to younger guys. Why couldn’t they transmit positive ideas across generational lines? No, they also have to pass on the crap.
O.K., I’m done with my rant. I just can’t stomach how socially acceptable it has become to hate women in our country (both Palin and HC). The fact that women are also out there spouting this trash (t-shirt that read: “Palin is a cu**”) is even more depressing.

A Lufkin woman received a surprise visit from the Secret Service last week because of a “death threat” comment she reportedly made about Sen. Barack Obama to a campaign volunteer asking for her support of the presidential candidate.
Two federal agents arrived at Jessica Hughes’ home Thursday to ask her if she said, “I will never support Obama and he will wind up dead on a hospital floor.”

Jessica and Micah Hughes say two Secret Service agents showed up on their doorstep Thursday after a campaign volunteer for Sen. Barack Obama accused her of making a ‘death threat’ during a phone conversation a day earlier.
Hughes said her words were deliberately twisted by a volunteer who was apparently unhappy Hughes was rude during a phone conversation the two had. The Lufkin mother, a Republican, said she received a call on her cell phone Wednesday from a woman with the Obama Volunteers of Texarkana.
“She asked if I was an Obama supporter, to which I replied, ‘No, I don’t support him. Your guy is a socialist who voted four times in the state Senate to let little babies die in hospital closets; I think you should find something better to do with your time.’ (And then) I hung up.”
(Hughes is referring to a “born alive” Illinois bill that did not pass in the Illinois state Senate in 2005 and had previously been opposed by Obama because he said it undermined Roe v. Wade, according to FactCheck.org, a non-partisan organization. A federal version of the bill, which Obama said he would have supported, passed by unanimous consent and was signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2002.)
Obama Campaign Communications for Texas director Josh Taylor declined to comment Monday, refusing to answer any questions and referring the matter to the Secret Service, which he said is conducting an investigation. A message left with a Secret Service agent in Houston was not immediately returned.
Hughes said she was surprised to see two Secret Service agents at her door, and upset to learn that the conversation she had with the volunteer apparently had not been recorded.
“I find it hard to believe that (campaign volunteers) don’t tape these calls. They call people unsolicited and they aren’t monitoring the calls or recording them? I think that is absolutely ridiculous,” she said.
“I mean, how often must this happen — that someone is rude to a volunteer that they don’t want to talk to?”
Hughes said she wants to file a countercomplaint against the volunteer.
“She has made a charge that will follow me the rest of my life,” she said.
“I find that repugnant and violating — that some person got her undies in a bundle because she didn’t like what I had to say.”

Shouting ‘Fannie!’ in a Crowded Congress Advice from the man who foresaw the GSE collapse.By WILLIAM MCGURN
Richard Baker says that he’s not in the business of advising presidential candidates. That’s too bad. The candidates and the American taxpayer might be in a better place if he were.
Mr. Baker, of course, is the former Louisiana Republican who spent nearly a decade crying in the wilderness . . . er, Congress . . . that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were ticking time bombs. Earlier this year he was named CEO of Managed Funds Association, a lobbying firm that represents the hedge-fund industry. And amid the financial carnage, he is somewhat bemused to hear people say they are shocked, shocked to learn that someone had predicted it all.
“Everyone writes as though there were just one hearing or one piece of legislation,” says Mr. Baker. “I think I must have had eight bills and maybe 40 hearings going back to 1996.”
Mr. Baker’s interest in Fan and Fred grew out of the savings-and-loan debacle. “My background was in real estate and home building,” he says. “At the time I ran for Congress, we were dealing with the S&L problem — lax lending standards, and the American taxpayer on the hook for risks other people were taking. I saw how destructive that was to the personal wealth and businesses of many of my friends and associates. And when I looked into Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, I saw the same problems — only a lot bigger and a lot more dangerous.”
Mr. Baker declines to comment on any of the proposals put forward by either Barack Obama or John McCain. But he does outline some general principles that should have some resonance with each of the candidates. Sen. Obama, for example, might like Mr. Baker’s idea of returning the mission of affordable housing to a revitalized Department of Housing and Urban Development (working with the Federal Housing Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs).
There are several advantages to such a reform. First, the risk to the financial sector would be removed. Second, the congressionally protected monopoly that Fan and Fred exploited would be gone — and with that the obscene salaries enjoyed by its top executives. Finally, HUD might actually get more housing built for low-income Americans, as opposed to the $200,000 to $300,000 loans that Mr. Baker says characterized a good chunk of Fan and Fred’s portfolios.
For Sen. McCain, Mr. Baker’s distinctions between deregulation of the private sector and the lack of oversight for a federally backed enterprise might help him push back on the Democratic talking point that the whole mess was caused by GOP-inspired financial deregulation.
“My starting principle is this,” says Mr. Baker. “The closer an enterprise is to the taxpayer’s wallet, the more congressional oversight it requires. The further away you get from that wallet, the more freedom you should give people, because they are risking their own money, not the taxpayers’.”
On Capitol Hill, he notes, we had just the opposite. In terms of accountability, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were the worst of both worlds. On the one hand, they lacked the congressional oversight that would have come had there been an explicit and acknowledged taxpayer guarantee. On the other hand, the privileged position represented by this implicit guarantee removed the discipline that market competition forces on other private enterprises.
Mr. Baker goes further. He points out that it wasn’t the unregulated part of the financial markets that got us here. It was the regulated part. In his own industry, he notes, the lack of a government guarantee means folks do a lot more due diligence before they part with their money.
Today all this sounds wise — and obvious. But back when he was sounding the alarms in Congress, it was a different story. When he made public the outrageous compensation of Fan and Fred’s executives, they threatened to sue him. When he questioned Franklin Raines, the now-disgraced former head of Fannie Mae, a fellow congressman accused him of a “lynching.” When he suggested Fan and Fred’s paper was not solid, he was dismissed as a crank. And on one of his early reform proposals, he couldn’t find a single cosponsor.
For the past few weeks, the loudest voices debating the way forward belong to those who told us these government-sponsored enterprises were safe and sound. As Messrs. Obama and McCain go into their third and final debate tomorrow night, maybe it’s time to do the real maverick thing: Start looking for solutions to our Fan and Fred-induced meltdown from the fella who got it right.

Also, I’m not an MSM watcher, so someone tell me if I’m wrong. It seems that BO and media have really been selling those poll numbers that show BO is ahead. I know it’s because they want to demoralize, but I think it is also part of their strategy to say that McCain’s attacks aren’t working. I think they are working. I believe Zogby today showed that BO’s lead went under 4 points. I hate to say it (because I hated the mudslinging during the Clinton years) but attack ads work. McCain still has to know when to back off, but generally speaking pointing out BO’s connection to Ayers and ACORN has worked to McCain’s favor. He needs to keep doing that.

For what it’s worth, I file birth certificates and was told during training that bloodline is form the father….for example, if the father is Hispanic, legally the child is considered Hispanic regardless of the mother’s race. Not that I agree with that reasoning, it doesn’t even matter to me one way or another, but that’s what I was taught. And you are right about the college etc. That’s why it’s important on birth certificates. Certain rights and scholarships etc. are available for certain races (or so I’m told).

Don’t give up even if the media tells you otherwise. Today, I realized that if the media would have done their job Obama would not be in the position he finds himself today at the polls. I am in the State of Indiana. Today, I was surprised by a friend and a coworker who were supporting Obama but no more. My coworker said that he changed his mind and will not be voting for Obama ( I think there was always hesitation, thus it must of being the ACORN development that help him see the light); I don’t know exactly what persuaded his mind though. On the other hand, my friend; was pretty convinced in the Obama rethoric until this week. I kept working on him and telling him about Obama’s associations and such, since he was pretty set on voting for him, last Friday I e-mailed him the Berg’s law suit video. Today, he told me that he heard a conservative radio host talked about Berg’s law suit and that this was the reassurance he was looking for to sealed the deal, since he would not believe enough about the real Obam; now he said that he will not vote for Obama for sure even though he was not to keen to McCain, but that the McCain-Palin choice is a better alternative to have a far left socialist head in the White House .

I was raised Catholic, I practiced catholicism as a child and also in my adult years. I am in no way very religous, but if I had to identify with a religous sect, it would be Catholicism. I can not imagine ever refering to my faith as…My lutheran faith or my evangelical faith, it really does not make sense now that I am thinking about it. Again not that there is anything wrong with someone’s muslim faith, but why say it if you were raised and still practice Christianity. The only reason that you would make that sort of mistake is if you were a practicing muslim or you are lying about your christianity.

I don’t have a local Borders (small town, less than 11,000) anyway my friend lives in Fort Wayne.
I suggest that anyone who lives near a Borders, especially if you are a customer, go and see for sure if they have a big display like my friend Susan found, and then let all H break loose! If this looks like it is nationwide, we should do a big prowl. If it only looks like it is a small local thing, then I will do my part to have it removed.

Listen, Zogby is the one poll we should consider as a respectable source, and I think you all agree, because his trend have proved over the years that he was right in past elections; he explained yesterday that he does not understand why the other pollsters are polling registered voters; he said that this is what pretty much everyone is doing, that their results are truly misleading. He said that all pollsters should be polling likely voters instead, it is to close to the election to be doing otherwise. Mediacurves.com shows that McCains new stump speech moved the meter up in his favor today (how positive or negative listeners respond). I think McCain has found the right voice now…Sarah is coming out more and more aggressive each day. Joe bless his heart, poor guy; he is going mad by the second, I think they are sensing the Ayres/ACORN is finally breaking into Obama’s closed closet.

One thing I learned from the Texas caucus, don’t ever underestimate the turnout by the Obama supporters on election day even if they think they are winning. Case in point, at the Texas Democratic Party convention in June of this year, Hillary supporters chose to stay at home after learning that Hillary has suspended her campaign. We lost plenty of delegates and therefore our percentage was depleted when the votes were counted.
I have been working with former Democrats, Republicans and Independents to go vote for McCain/Palin ticket to keep Obama/Biden out of the White House. Our early vote begins on October 20 and we will be helping with transporting the seniors to the voting polls. Some seniors are internet savvy, so they have been able to keep up with the latest news and developments, i.e. Acorn, etc.
Please ask all of your families, friends, co-workers, etc. to go to vote early or on November 4 for McCain/Palin. If the Republicans cannot get their voters to the polls on November 4 by turning out at least 75% of their registered voters, Obama is going to win. McCain will have to win the voters tomorrow night when he debates Obama. He needs to articulate his economic plan to the American people to where they will have no doubt that he is the man for the job but he should also bring up Ayers, Acorn, Odinga and the rest of Obama’s radical associates. I wonder if he has enough money to buy his own 30 minutes TV time on the network a couple of days before election. It would keep him competitive with Obama.
Don’t get discourage about the poll numbers. If we, PUMAs, and 75% of the Republicans and half of the undecided vote for McCain/Palin, we can defeat Obama.

I’m a westcoaster, so the debate comes on at 6:00 for us. However, I’m thinking I’ll watch the Project Runway finale at 6:00 instead. I can always catch the debate when CNN reruns it at 9:00 or Fox reruns it at 10:00…I need to focus on something else for a change!
