Kat, I think you’re hitting the nail on the head. Just what is turning us OFF to Obama is exactly what IS turning many others ON, particularly in some of the liberal strongholds like NYC.
They’ve romanticized “socialism,” “communism,” etc. They see it as some trouble-free Utopia where everyone’s needs are met, there is no struggle, no competition, no challenge – life in the real world is nothing but a reenactment of the “Garden of Eden.” Needless to say, none of this ethereal dream is burdened by any reality checks or peek through time, back at history.
Then there are the others who have no problem with ACORN and O’s affiliation with it because they think voter fraud and cheating is fine – as long as it’s their side who’s cheating.
And we don’t even want to get into the subprime mortgage mess and that the Dems had a lot to do with that clever scheme which is sending us all to hell in handbasket. I mean, if you scooped up an offer for a subprime loan, knowing it sounded too good to be true, but fully confident the govt could or would bail you out and you’d end up with a nice house, much of which gets paid for by your govt, i.e. your fellow taxpayers, would you really care of it’d been devalued by who knows how much. Wouldn’t you think the guy (i.e. Dems) who pushed subprime loans as a way of ensuring every person’s “right” to own their own home was realized – wouldn’t you say: THAT’S the guy that offers you the best economic plan?!!!

That new “ACORN” Web Ad by McCain/Palin is great! Right on the mark. I wish, though, that it would be made into a TV AD as well, because not all people use the Internet and many will not see the Ad unless it is played on a news show.
I have a question. How many actually view these Web Ads and do you think they are as effective as a TV Ad?
Just got back from a no phone no internet camp in the salt marshes on the SC coast. Looks like Obama really hates that Ayers connection, doesn’t he?
I had a lot of time to think, staring up into the night sky where millions of stars were visible with no city light glow to obscure their glory. We really don’t know a damn thing about Barak Obama, do we? What we know if what we are shown, not what is there. And what we are shown is a creation that Hollywood could only produce.
Who is this guy? We know he went to Ivy League schools, but don’t have a clue how he performed there. We know that he got some quack in Chicago to write a couple paragraph letter saying he was in good health now, but know nothing about his medical history. We don’t know a damn thing about his associations at Occidental and particularly Columbia.
Obama has never been shy about blowing his own horn, and has been relentless in trying to conceal any information from his past that may be less than good. His Ayers association is a case in point. The Obama camp is literally screaming about the connection being raised, and for good reason. Some more “pay no attention to that man behind the curtain”.
So just what is on his past records? based on Obama’s current and past behavior, we can be pretty confident in concluding that it is not good.
His medical history could be quite an embarassment. A complete history would reveal prior history of drug abuse or treatments for STD’s. Some STD’s would even show up in current blood work. Was he ever medicated for depression? Is he on medication for bi polar disorder? Just what is on those records that he fears?
His college transcripts? One can safely surmise that they are less than stellar. He has not hit McCain at all on his class rank at the Naval Academy, which tells me that his performance in college was even worse than McCain’s.
His LSAT scores? It is probable that his scores were so low that his admission to any law school, let alone Harvard, would have been in serious doubt.
His Harvard grades? Again, there is a better than average chance that he was the ahchor man of his law school class. Don’t be fooled by the Law review President title – at the time Obama went to Harvard, that was nothing more than a popularity contest.
And what about the black out of his stint at Columbia? No one seems to remember him. What was he doing? Does the fact that Bill Ayers lived a few blocks away from Obama at the time explain why Obama is so reluctant to let the light shine on on his time in New York?
Who ghost wrote his book? There is an interesting and convincing article in American Thinker that provides evidence beyond any reasonable doubt that Obama did not write “Dreams of My Father”. And there is some very compelling analysis that points to Bill Ayers as the ghost writer in question.
It is absolutely amazing that with a little over 3 weeks to go until election day, people are still going to vote for this guy. They are voting for a phantom image that obscures a man with a less than flattering history and a non existent record of achievement or accomplishment. Even if Obama loses this election, he will have perpetrated the greatest fraud in the history of the United States.
God help us.
I called REp. Boehner’s office. He said his phones and fax was ringing off the hook all afternoon about ACORN. We have made an impact.
We need to do a prowl on all of the governors and state justice departments where ACORN is operating. We need to ask them to disregard all ACORN procured registrations. That would reset things to where they were before ACORN arrived.

The struggle between the far-left/socialist wing of the Dem party and the more conservative/moderate wing of the party was briefly mentioned in the press. At the time, Bill Clinton’s Democratic Leadership Council seemed to be on top and it was leaning moderate/conservative. Looks like the other side’s reconstituted itself with the help of the Howard Deans, Nancy Pelosis and Robert Wexlers…..

Is the Wright Stuff good for PUMA-esque Democrats, or does it not work? I dunno.

What are McCain and Palin’s weak spots? If it’s something obvious like abortion, can you think of anyway to mitigate this turn-off?
There is this Strange Bedfellows thing going on but it’s mostly a lot of awkward and embarrassed fumbling around at this point.
You guys want to put me some information here? It seems that with all the Republicans and 10% of Democrats, we ought to win; but obviously at the moment we’re not getting anywhere near 10% of Democrats or Democrat-leaning independents.
We’re screwing up. How and why, and how do we fix this?

Specific Question: Obama pays his female staffers 87 cents to every dollar he spends on male workers. McCain pays women $1.04 for every dollar paid to men.
Again: Too much of a transparent pander? I mean, look, who are we kidding; This is not exactly a major point of Republican concern and there’s no point claiming the GOP is strong like bull on equal-pay initiatives. But is there any juice here?

Just 26 days until the presidential election; allegations of voter registration fraud in at least 12 states, including Michigan.
ACORN is known for helping lower income families get homes and aiding minorities.
Now the organization is being accused of falsely registering voters.
In Nevada, the Secretary of State said members from the Dallas Cowboys were falsely registered; reports say it happened in Michigan too.
The probe into voter registration fraud started Tuesday in Nevada as state agents searched the office of ACORN.
Traditionally the organization registers those who are economically disadvantaged and minorities.
For this year’s presidential election in Michigan alone, ACORN gathered nearly 215,000 voters.
The organization is accused of turning in voter registrations with fake and duplicate names.
A state liaison for Michigan ACORN today, says the organization hires workers to help collect names and if a fake name is registered, no one would be able to use it at the polls.
He feels the issue should be, to make sure everyone eligible can vote.
“There have been some workers that have cheated the organization, our policy is to separate cards that we deem problematic from appropriate when we communicate with City Clerks and Board of Elections, “ said Dave Lagstein, Michigan ACORN Head Organizer.
“We did that in Nevada the response from those elected officials was slow and all of a sudden they felt it was appropriate to make a raid.”
As of right now the investigation is turning up more bogus registration forms, today 2,000 were discovered in Indiana.

TROY, N.Y. – Who is running for president? In an upstate New York county, hundreds of voters have been sent absentee ballots in which they could vote for “Barack Osama.”
The absentee ballots sent to voters in Rensselaer County identified the two presidential candidates as “Barack Osama” and “John McCain.” In the United States, the best-known individual named Osama is Osama bin Laden, leader of the al Qaida terrorist group behind the 2001 attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center in New York City.
The typographical terror error was first reported by the Times Union of Albany.
The elections office faxed a statement in which the two commissioners, Democrat Edward McDonough and Republican Larry Bugbee, said they regret the error but never acknowledge what the error was.
“It’s human error, it’s very unfortunate, it’s an embarrassment to our office, obviously,” McDonough said in a later phone interview. “We wish we could turn back the clock, but we can’t.”
When they discovered the mistake, officials shredded the remaining “Osama” ballots and mailed correct versions to the roughly 300 people who had already received them. McDonough said the “Osama” mistake was made in only one of the 13 ballot versions mailed throughout the county, located east of the state capital of Albany.
Voters who received both versions will be allowed to send in either one and have it counted, McDonough said.
Obama spokesman Blake Zeff said the campaign is “glad officials are working to correct this error and we assume it won’t happen again.”

I have been taping some of Hannity’s shows, (especially Hannity’s America last week) . I taped it on my VCR. This week-end, if I have time I am going to tape it to a DVD on my DVD/VCR combo. It is the best chance to defeat Obama. Why do we not see some big money Republicans support this effort. I believe James is onto something with the individual State Statutes. I have done some research and thus far found 15 states that specifically have statutes that require candidates submitting applications/petitions to be on state ballot for Federal positions that they be qualified under the applicable federal statutes and constitutional article(s) (U.S. Constitution, Article II, section 1 for US President) for the specific Federal office they are submitting for. The states I have found thus far include PA, TX, FL, OH, VA, IN, NC, TN, MA, NJ, MD, MN, WI, IL, NY. For total of 261 electoral votes.

Wouldn’t it be prudent to include the other states with these specific statutes in Mr. Berg’s suite, not just Pennsylvania (http://www.dos.state.pa.us/ele…office.pdf) , as Obama’s fraud would be violating those specific state statutes and would involve crossing state lines with applications sent via US mail, FEDEX/UPS, email, etc, which the fraud would be then violating federal laws and qualifying for consideration within US District Courts? Or would individual filings have to be made in each individual state?

Summary of RICO
Under RICO, a person who is a member of an enterprise that has committed any two of 35 crimes—27 federal crimes and 8 state crimes—within a 10-year period can be charged with racketeering. Those found guilty of racketeering can be fined up to $25,000 and/or sentenced to 20 years in prison per racketeering count. In addition, the racketeer must forfeit all ill-gotten gains and interest in any business gained through a pattern of “racketeering activity.” RICO also permits a private individual harmed by the actions of such an enterprise to file a civil suit; if successful, the individual can collect treble damages.
When the U.S. Attorney decides to indict someone under RICO, he or she has the option of seeking a pre-trial restraining order or injunction to temporarily seize a defendant’s assets and prevent the transfer of potentially forfeitable property, as well as require the defendant to put up a performance bond. This provision was placed in the law because the owners of Mafia-related shell corporations often absconded with the assets. An injunction and/or performance bond ensures that there is something to seize in the event of a guilty verdict.
In many cases, the threat of a RICO indictment can force defendants to plead guilty to lesser charges, in part because the seizure of assets would make it difficult to pay a defense attorney. Despite its harsh provisions, a RICO-related charge is considered easy to prove in court, as it focuses on patterns of behavior as opposed to criminal acts.[2]
There is also a provision for private parties to sue. A “person damaged in his business or property” can sue one or more “racketeers.” The plaintiff must prove the existence of a “criminal enterprise.” The defendant(s) are not the enterprise; in other words, the defendant(s) and the enterprise are not one and the same. There must be one of four specified relationships between the defendant(s) and the enterprise. A civil RICO action, like many lawsuits based on federal law, can be filed in state or federal court. [1]
Both the federal and civil components allow for the recovery of treble damages (damages in triple the amount of actual/compensatory damages).
Although its primary intent was to deal with organized crime, Blakey said that Congress never intended it to merely apply to the Mob. He once told Time, “We don’t want one set of rules for people whose collars are blue or whose names end in vowels, and another set for those whose collars are white and have Ivy League diplomas.”[2]

Children who kill are called “super predators,” “people with no conscience,” “feral pre-social beings”–and “adults.”
William Ayers, author of A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court(Beacon Press, 1997), says “We should call a child a child. A 13-year-old who picks up a gun isn’t suddenly an adult. We have to ask other questions: How did he get the gun? Where did it come from?”
Ayers, who spent a year observing the Cook County Temporary Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, is one of four panelists who will speak on juvenile justice at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the C-Shop of the Reynolds Club, 5706 S. University Ave.
The panel, which marks the 100th anniversary of the juvenile justice system in the United States, is part of the Community Service Center’s monthly discussion series on issues affecting the city of Chicago.
The event is free and open to the public.
Ayers will be joined by Illinois State Sen. Barack Obama, Senior Lecturer in the University of Chicago Law School, who is working to block proposed legislation that would throw more juvenile offenders into the adult system; Randolph Stone, Director of the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic at the University of Chicago; Alex Correa, a reformed juvenile offender who spent 7 years in Cook County Temporary Detention Center; Frank Tobin, a former priest and teacher in the Detention Center who helped Correa; and Willy Baldwin, who grew up in public housing and is currently a teacher in the Detention Center.
The juvenile justice system was founded by Chicago reformer Jane Addams, who advocated the establishment of a separate court system for children which would act like a “kind and just parent” for children in crisis.
One hundred years later, the system is “overcrowded, under-funded, over-centralized and racist,” Ayers said.

When I connect the dots… my theory to this question goes like this… and the short version is Ayers raises a generation of radicals through infiltrating the school system and radicalizing it. Notice all the ex Weathermen are working in the education system.
Now add to this the New Party in which these new home grown radicals join up and they in turn infiltrate the Democratic party and then placed (with the help of ACORN) into political offices all around the nation. Dean, Pelosi, Wexler, Clair McCaskill, Brunner… to name a few… and who knows who else. Slowly the Dem party is no longer recognizable since the New party infiltrates like a cancer throughout the country. And they count on American capitalism to lull the public into a false sense of security so we’ll be asleep at the wheel and not notice while all this takes place under the radar over the course of a couple of decades.
Only due to the Clinton v. Obama tragedies… they didn’t count on us… PUMA’s… to work at discovering how all this happened. Ironically, the education system was Ayers key to making this happen… but educating ourselves in the true sense is the key to preventing it.

I actually jumped with joy and enthusiam when I heard McCain and Sarah setting the crowd on fire. It was honestly the most exited I have gotten since Palin was chosen. When I heard Sarah noting the three (I think it’s acutally four) times BO had voted against the Born Alive Bill I nearly cried. When I heard that man exclaiming how mad he was, and the other black man begging McCain to go after BO I hollared “Yeah!!!! Yeah man!!!” I was so proud!
Now today, after a few MSNBC pieces of crap whined “McCain had better get his supporters in line, and Palin had better check herself!” McCain has caved. Shame on him. This is about the worst thing he could have possibly done.

My whole package was very rough and all beaten up. One entire side was still slit wide open on the end and only the flap had been resealed with clear box tape. Very shoddy handling! It makes me so mad that the post office would dare to slit open my private mail and then not even bother to close it back up again. Where was the press when Clinton and Clinton’s surrogates were booed by Obama supporters even after she suspended her campaign? Where was the media when Father Phlegler incited his audience with horrid and fabricated images of Hillary Clinton as a sore loser because she, as a white woman, lost to a black man? Where was the media coverage of the outrageous verbal and physical intimidation, threats and assaults at countless caucus sites during the Democratic primaries? Where has been the media’s outrage at Obama’s call for his supporters to “argue” and “get in their faces”? And what of Obama’s accusation of those who do not support him as being racists? The media has essentially ignored the story out of Nebraska of young high school students in combat fatigues chanting in support of Obama as coached by their teacher. And where has the press been regarding Farrakhan’s sermons referring to Obama is the “messiah”? And, as far as I can tell, the media has cared not of threats of a race war if Obama loses the election!
Any thinking person can only wonder what has happened to journalistic standards. Your coverage is to relentlessly and so blatantly biased that it puzzles me as to how anyone takes you seriously anymore. Unfortunately, there are many people with malleable minds who still think the media reports unbiased, investigative pieces. These would be known as Obama supporters. “Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers,” Palin said.

Even though this economy benefits the Democrats, many voters have doubts about BO. How can anyone say that he is qualified to handle the greatest economic crisis since the Depression? His political views are closer to Castro and Hugo Chavez.
Senator McCain has a real challenge. Somehow he has to balance the real anger and still respond as a leader. Look at all the confrontations that Puma members have had with BO’s nasty supporters. Many people believe in BO’s false promises because they get their news from the lunatic media.

I am accused of all sorts of miscreances for writing and stating on TV that Obama is really a front for Ayers. Do they meet in a secret “cell,” somewhere in a dungeon in Hyde Park, Chicago, the media demand? No they don’t. And I don’t have an attendance sheet showing Obama’s and Ayers’s attendance at monthly meetings either. The media is always asking for “evidence.” But future dictators don’t telegraph their plans and programs in advance, and they surely don’t take attendance at monthly meetings.
Rather, the evidence is right in front of all of us. If you read Ayers, look at Chavez and listen to Obama, they are singing the same melody in different keys. America chooses to ignore the obvious.

McCain has lurched from message to message, from manager to manager, from crisis to crisis, and now he may be approaching his final crisis.
Throughout the spring and summer I kept hearing from Republicans who believed “The Republicans must have something for October.” I disabused them of the notion. I doubted then and doubt now that any “October surprise” will be forthcoming. And, frankly, I don’t believe in last-minute smears. I don’t even believe in “smearing” Obama. The truth is what could devastate Obama, and McCain is afraid to unleash it.
McCain has made a classic mistake as a candidate. He has tried to manage his campaign and micromanage the message. He should have let fly the dogs of war, and focused on improving his miserable forensic skills.
People are now claiming McCain has “one more opportunity” to attack Obama in the final debate next week. I can write the report of that debate in advance, now. I don’t know whether the good grandpa or the bad Grandpa McCain will appear, but after 26 years in Washington McCain has never learned how to communicate. He is incapable of launching a negative attack on national television because he has never learned how. His “my friends” drives me to distraction. He refuses to change despite the irritating nature of his trope. His inability to zoom in with a sharp retort is sad.
The medium is the message, McLuhan said, and today more than ever the medium is the message. Obama understands that. McCain does not. That is why McCain either has incompetent debate coaches or he is incompetent himself by refusing to accept professional advice. He is apparently refusing advertising advice as well.
So, whether McCain plays it soft in the next debate, or tries to “attack,” the end will result will favor Obama because McCain has no concept of how to attack on TV and I doubt he will learn now. I seriously doubt it.
McCain is afraid to go hard, go negative and go wall-to-wall even though that is the only approach that will survive and succeed.
In a pilot, fear is fatal. McCain is afraid to fight. I fear this I McCain’s final mission. Fear consumes him, ego diverts him, and incompetence drives him into the footnotes of history. Is there no one McCain listens to? Is there no one who can shake up grandpa and weak him from his torpor? It is clear, at the end, that McCain has been the architect of his own defeat.
All of this was and is unnecessary.
I am going to vote for McCain. He may be an incompetent old coot who can’t craft either a message or a strategy despite lecturing Obama on the difference on strategy and tactics. But he is the better of the two choices we face. He maybe a bungler and a bumbler, but Obama is much worse. Obama hates America, hates our way of life and is committed to destroying the existing structure of our nation.
There is only one way McCain can save America. He can apologize for his muddled message and incompetent campaign on Monday. He can say the American people deserve better. He can express his sincerest and profoundest belief that Barack Obama is unfit to serve. And he can start to fight like hell on the airwaves. And he can go on the attack.
What we have seen to date, even with the latest timorous web-only based anti-Ayers commercials, is that McCain is still not attacking effectively on TV. Is McCain simply so imbued with himself that he is afraid to get down and dirty with Obama and expose the lying, cheating, stealing Obama to the world?
Obama and Axelrod, on the other hand, are masters of dirty politics. Every time Obama has run, dirty documents about his opponents have surfaced. He even has a smear dossier on me that he has been peddling to gullible journalists like Gail Collins of the New York Times. I may despise Obama as a political opponent, but I credit him with being a competent adversary. Obama knows how to go negative.
President Reagan may be McCain’s hero, but McCain learned nothing from Reagan. Ronald Regan was not warrior. But he knew how to “act” like one. John McCain was a warrior, but he has no concept of how to act on the national “stage.” McCain maybe afraid of his place in American history, and that explains his fear of fighting. But history will not judge him well for forfeiting the 2008 campaign through incompetence and mismanagement. This drama is sadly drawing to the close, with the American people about to vote on their own national suicide.

As I drove home today I saw a dozen students at a streetcorner two blocks from my house holding up “Honk if you’re for McCain/Palin” signs. One man was wearing a McCain mask and a suit, and he was waving, but several of the women were holding big hot-pink signs that said “PUMA.” I honked!

Just heard on news that a bipartisan committee in Alaska said that Palin acted illegally with that Walter Monehegan (sp). Anyone else hear or see anything about this. The obots will be pushing this to try to take the spotlight away from Acorn and everything else. Even if this were true, which we really aren’t sure yet, it pales in comparison to everything that nobama has done, belonged to, was friends with, and lied about.

This is the issue that the DNC held over her head as they had their cash cow(Golden Calf), as we know now, only God knows where it (Obama’s funding) is coming from. Also, I wish I knew more about Patty Solis Doyle’s role due to the fact of Hillary gaining so much traction after Solis Doyle left (was forced out). But it was economics, as the Obama campaign spending forced Hillary’s campaign to go broke. Like the PIGS in Animal Farm, the money-machine (who the f*ck are these people giving all that money???) funded players have taken over the farm(Dem Party) and now intend to take over America. I didn’t have a lot of time to send out letters today. I sent a couple to my congresspeople about ACORN and voter fraud. I demanded that they do something immediately.
I also wrote the McCain campaign and told them to grow a set. He is acting just like HC. This isn’t the time to back off or to try to be civil. What John McCain doesn’t get and HC never got was that they are NOT DEALING WITH CIVIL PEOPLE. John McCain better send Palin out to do the work that needs to be done to win this election if he can’t or won’t do it himself. He needs attack ads as often as possible and he needs to keep linking BO to ACORN, Ayers, Rev. Wright, and Farrakhan if possible. It’s unbelievable to me that John McCain doesn’t get what he should be doing after people have gone out of their way to beg him at rallies to directly attack Obama. Once again, these people have no idea with the kinds of characters they are dealing with. They think they are running against a regular candidate. They aren’t.

It is so depressing…….. Is our country doomed? Voter Fraud Oh, Oh, I came up with a good idea – I think. Does anyone know the penalties for Voter Fraud? I know in Texas it is 1 year if someone tries to vote twice. I do not know how long for actually committing Fraud itself by false ballots. Is it 25 years per incidence?

Did anybody in the group hear McCain say at meeting today that Obama is a good guy and we shouldn’t be afraid to have him as president? I heard Fox play that about 4 hours ago, and almost dropped my teeth (and they are my real teeth, too!)… The Mac supporters in there actually booed Mac saying that. I don’t understand… he puts ads on about how bad BO would be for pres (and, to be honest, what he’s saying on the ads is nowhere near as bad as the guy himself), and then he goes to a campaign stop and says that BO is good and would be a good president? Well, he didn’t say he’d be a good president, but he didn’t say he’d be a bad one, either… he said we “shouldn’t be afraid” to have BO as president. What is going on here? Is McCain giving up???????

Gleason was even more explicit.
“Between March 23rd and October 1st, various groups, including ACORN, submitted over 252,595 registrations to the Philadelphia County Election Board” with 57, 435 rejected for faulty information. “Most of these registrations were submitted by ACORN, and rejected due to fake social security numbers, incorrect dates of birth, clearly fraudulent signatures, addresses that do not exist, and duplicate registrations. In one case, a man was registered to vote more than 15 times since the Primary election.”

Journalists have an awesome responsibility to uphold the public’s right to know. Reporters with the New York Times, NPR, the Washington Post, the Anchorage Daily News, CNN, NBC, CBS and a myriad of other news agencies will tell you that’s why they’ve been grilling Sarah Palin. But there’s something wrong – or incomplete – with this picture. We hear no “squirm in your seat” questions of Barack Obama. Mainstream media reporters have been practically mum about his dealings with domestic terrorist William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn and slumlord Tony Rezko, a convicted felon.
Why haven’t the big networks told us about his meddling in Kenyan politics, campaigning for his friend and Marxist Muslim Raila Odinga, whose followers started a killing spree when the man didn’t win the election two years ago? What about Obama’s endorsement from Libya’s Moammar Khadafy and other nefarious characters?
How often do we hear of Saul Alinsky, the Marxist writer who influenced Obama (and Hillary Clinton, as well). Obama fashioned his “community organizer” after Alinsky’s model. Alinsky’s book, “Rules for Radicals,” was dedicated to Lucifer, “the very first radical … who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom,” Alinsky wrote.
How many of us are aware of Obama’s radical views on abortion? While a state senator, he voted against a bill that would provide medical care for babies who had survived abortions. No wonder he’s called the infanticide candidate. How about his plan to impose “sex education” on kindergarten children?
In a recent poll, nearly 70 percent of the responders said that the media has an agenda. Many of the big networks and newspapers are some of Obama’s best supporters.

(AP) The anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is finally acting to tamp it down.
McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about rival Barack Obama’s character, he described the Democrat as a “decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States.”
A sense of grievance spilling into rage has gripped some Republican events this week as McCain supporters see his presidential campaign lag against Obama. Some in the audience are making it personal, against the Democrat. Shouts of “traitor,” “terrorist,” “treason,” “liar,” and even “off with his head” have rung from the crowd at McCain and Sarah Palin rallies, and gone unchallenged by them.
McCain changed his tone Friday when supporters at a town hall pressed him to be rougher on Obama. A voter said, “The people here in Minnesota want to see a real fight.” Another said Obama would lead the U.S. into socialism. Another said he did not want his unborn child raised in a country led by Obama.
“If you want a fight, we will fight,” McCain said. “But we will be respectful. I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments.” When people booed, he cut them off.
“I don’t mean that has to reduce your ferocity,” he said. “I just mean to say you have to be respectful.”
Presidential candidates are accustomed to raucous rallies this close to Election Day and welcome the enthusiasm. But they are also traditionally monitors of sorts from the stage. Part of their job is to leaven proceedings if tempers run ragged and to rein in an out-of-bounds comment from the crowd.
Not so much this week, at Republican rallies in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida and other states.
When a visibly angry McCain supporter in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Thursday told the candidate “I’m really mad” because of “socialists taking over the country,” McCain stoked the sentiment. “I think I got the message,” he said. “The gentleman is right.” He went on to talk about Democrats in control of Congress.
On Friday, McCain rejected the bait.
“I don’t trust Obama,” a woman said. “I have read about him. He’s an Arab.”
McCain shook his head in disagreement, and said:
“No, ma’am. He’s a decent, family man, citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with (him) on fundamental issues and that’s what this campaign is all about.”
The anti-Obama taunts and jeers are noticeably louder when McCain appears with Palin, a big draw for social conservatives. She accused Obama this week of “palling around with terrorists” because of his past, loose association with a 1960s radical. If less directly, McCain, too, has sought to exploit Obama’s Chicago neighborhood ties to William Ayers, while trying simultaneously to steer voters’ attention to his plans for the financial crisis.
The Alaska governor did not campaign with McCain on Friday, and his rally in La Crosse, Wisconsin, earlier Friday was much more subdued than those when the two campaigned together. Still, one woman shouted “traitor” when McCain told voters Obama would raise their taxes.
Volunteers worked up chants from the crowd of “U.S.A.” and “John McCain, John McCain,” in an apparent attempt to drown out boos and other displays of negative energy.
The Secret Service confirmed Friday that it had investigated an episode reported in The Washington Post in which someone in Palin’s crowd in Clearwater, Florida, shouted “kill him,” on Monday, meaning Obama. There was “no indication that there was anything directed at Obama,” Secret Service spokesman Eric Zahren told AP. “We looked into it because we always operate in an atmosphere of an abundance of caution.”
Palin, at a fundraiser in Ohio on Friday, told supporters “it’s not negative and it’s not mean-spirited” to scrutinize Obama’s iffy associations.
But Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania an author of 15 books on politics, says the vitriol has been encouraged by inflammatory words from the stage.
“Red-meat rhetoric elicits emotional responses in those already disposed by ads using words such as ‘dangerous’ ‘dishonorable’ and ‘risky’ to believe that the country would be endangered by election of the opposing candidate,” she said.

What those who want Mr. Obama to write history by becoming “America’s first African-American president” ignore is that his father was ethnically Arabic, with only 1 relative ethnically African Negro – a maternal great-grandparent (Sen. Obama’s great-great grandparent, thus the 6.25% ethnic contribution to the senator’s ethnic composition.).
“That means that Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side.
“Put another way, his father could honestly claim African-American ethnic classification. He was the last generation able to do so.
“Sen. Obama could honestly say, “My father was African-American.” Racist presumptions led an Ivy League admissions committee, and lazy “newspapers of record” factcheckers, to presume that if his father is African-American, then Sen. Obama must be African-American also.
“But it doesn’t work that way. Racist presumptions coupled with sloppy vetting don’t turn a lie into the truth.
“Sen. Obama is one generation too far removed from the ethnic African Negro input to make the same claim as his father, Harvard’s Admission’s stamp of approval notwithstanding.

Documentation of his actual ethnic background demonstrates Mr. Obama is not an “African-American” as defined in United States law. This research was initiated by a request from a daily news publication of international reputation in New York City.
The story then moves to documenting his father’s genealogy. This study indicates Sen. Obama is actually Arab-American. The significance of this is that “the soul and substance of Mr. Obama’s claim to fame” rest entirely on his being “the first” African-American to achieve whatever it is that Mr. Obama is claiming at the time. If Mr. Obama is not legally an African-American, then his claims collapse. While there may still be historic firsts, for example, being the first Arab-American to be the president of the Harvard Law Review, those claims are not the star-appeal of his entire political life, and the basis of his current celebrity star status. If he is not African-American, then he is not what has propelled him up the political ladder; he is not, as described by one journalist riding Mr. Obama’s campaign plane, what is currently capturing America’s “cult” attention.

Republicans don’t need to dress up for Halloween this year. They’re scaring the pants off Barack Obama’s followers by their mere presence. Anything they say, wear, or do provokes instant cries of “RAAAAACISM!” Wink, blink, or think critical thoughts about Obama? You’re a bigot!
How many racial bogeyman have Obama operatives and sympathetic journalists discovered lurking in “coded language” and attire? Let us count the ways:
*At Tuesday’s presidential debate, John McCain referred to Obama as “that one.” Official Obama press agitator Bill Burton sent off an e-mail blast to reporters: “Did John McCain just refer to Obama as ‘that one’?” Horrors. Taking their cue from Burton, spooked Obama supporters hyperventilated like teenagers on the set of the Blair Witch Project movie. “The racial undertones were subtle but unmistakable,” declared Maya Wiley of the leftist Center for Social Inclusion. “McCain was tapping into a current of superiority among white voters. It was an attempt to ‘otherize’ Obama.”
“Otherize?” Sounds like something you do to your car tires to prepare for winter.
UC Berkeley linguistics prof George Lakoff was also haunted by “That One:” “The phrase was meant to say, ‘You and I are in the same area, but he’s the outsider.’”
Memo to McCain: Next time, call him “The One.”
*Obama supporters on the heavily-traffic Democratic Underground website (where such mainstream Democrats as Elizabeth Edwards hang out) saw the ghost of the Ku Klux Klan in Sarah Palin’s white suit jacket. Yes, white clothes = racism.
“Palin is wearing white again, inciting the racist crowds. She should just drop all pretense and put on her white hood and light up a cross. She is a despicable human being,” fumed a DU poster. “Grand Princess of the KKK,” proclaimed another. They’re “trying to send subtle signals to their rabid base,” yet another member of Obama’s rabid base declared.
My racial decoder ring must be on the fritz. Because I’m not getting the signal. If she wears white stockings, drinks a vanilla milk shake, and refers to budgetary black holes, are those incitements, too? And what about her gorgeous white teeth? Perhaps she should drink more coffee — hold the white cream! — to avoid emitting further racial radiation.
*Such paranoia is not limited to the fever swamps of the Internet. Earlier this week, the Associated Press disseminated an “analysis” accusing Palin of injecting a “racial tinge” into the campaign because she criticized Obama for his longtime relationship with Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers. Palin’s comments were completely unobjectionable: “This is not a man who sees America like you and I see America.”
I saw a vice presidential candidate drawing stark philosophical differences between two tickets. The AP saw Freddy Krueger with lipstick and a noose.
“Whether intended or not by the McCain campaign, portraying Obama as ‘not like us’ is another potential appeal to racism. It suggests that the Hawaiian-born Christian is, at heart, un-American,” the AP piece frothed.
Obama is half-black. Ayers is white. One of the Weather Underground’s victims was black police officer Waverly Brown of Nyack, New York. Where do I buy a pair of the super X-ray glasses that can detect the racism in Palin’s remarks about the Obama-Ayers alliance?
*I’ll have to borrow those hysterical-colored spectacles from Time’s Karen Tumulty, who spotted racist goblins in the recent McCain ad criticizing Obama for seeking advice from Fannie Mae corruptocrat, Franklin Raines. “Sinister images of two black men, followed by one of a vulnerable-looking elderly white woman,” Tumulty balked in a blog post titled “McCain plays the race card.”
Um, “sinister?” The ad’s photos of Obama and Raines were standard shots — some with dour expressions, others smiling. The fact that Tumulty perceived them as “sinister” suggests that she should perform a self-racism exam before diagnosing anyone else.
*A parade of Congressional witch hunters for Obama also detects the specter of George Wallace behind every policy bush. Democrat New York Gov. David Paterson says conservative criticism of Obama’s community organizing days is code for “black.” Democrat Rep. Gregory Meeks complained to the New York Observer: “They are trying to throw out these codes.” In the same piece, Democrat Rep. Yvette Clark divined segregationist intent in Palin’s references to Joe Six Pack and hockey moms. “It leaves a lot of people out.”
And Democrat Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid echoed Time’s Tumulty on the McCain camp’s Obama/Raines broadsides: “The only connection that people could bring up about Raines and Barack Obama is that they both are African-American, other than that there is nothing.”
The Washington Post reported that Obama’s office phoned up Raines for housing advice and has stood by its reporting. Is the newspaper part of the McCain/Palin hooded racists’ coven, too?
Obama’s witch hunters better beware. When there’s racism in every hiccup, nobody’s air supply is safe.

I pushed with ALL my heart and strength for HRC because I believed she WAS the right person for USA. From DAY ONE I was suspicious of BO, even without the knowledge of all that I know of him today.
BO will be the DECLINE DEVASTATION and DOOM for this nation if he is elected. There is a cloud of darkness that surrounds him, and he will effectively translate that aura onto this nation. I passionately try to spread this to all who ask me of him. I could go on and on about this….but what is most important is to ask What can we at this late point do to change the momentum of the race?
WE MUST NONSTOP BOMBARD THE MCCAIN SITE WITH PLEAS OF MORE ATTACKS FROM HIM AND THE WILLING MSM WITH THE TRUTH OF BO. THERE ARE STILL MANY UNDECIDEDS THAT ARE NOT AWARE OF THE FACT ABOUT HIS DANGEROUS FRIENDS!
Do not give up on the fact that McCain is too soft and turn on him…HE IS STILL OUR ONLY HOPE. However WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA must take the battle into our own hands and spread the word!
