Ignorance Is Strength

From today’s Wall Street Journal’s Political Diary:

“One of the funniest and most politically searing comedy sketches in years has vanished from the Web site of NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Visitor comments asking about its disappearance are also being scrubbed from the Web site. The sketch — a harsh indictment of the housing meltdown that led to last week’s bailout bill — was clearly too much truth for someone to handle.

The seven-minute sketch featured a mock news conference of Democratic Congressional leaders on the bailout bill, during which Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank inadvertently acknowledge that it was Congress that blocked reform and effective oversight of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

-snip-

They were followed by actors portraying the real-life couple of Herbert and Marion Sandler. They explained how they built a mortgage company that specialized in subprime mortgages, which they sold to Wachovia Bank for $24.2 billion in 2006 — one of the worst acquisitions by any company ever. It helped precipitate the collapse of Wachovia last week.

The Sandlers were hustled off the stage by “Speaker Pelosi” after they said they couldn’t understand why they were invited to a news conference of “victims” since they had done so well out of the housing crisis.

They were followed by financier George Soros, identified as “Owner, Democratic Party.” The actor portraying Mr. Soros informs the group that the $700 billion bailout package “basically belongs to me” and that he has decided to short the U.S. dollar. That will trigger a devaluation “either Tuesday or Wednesday. I haven’t decided which yet. It will depend on how I feel.”

The brutally wicked sketch must have caused tremors in left-wing circles. The Sandlers and Mr. Soros have all been prime financial backers of independent political groups that have secured huge influence in the Democratic Party and helped fuel the rise of Barack Obama.

The Sandlers, for example, were major donors to the left-wing radio network Air America as well as the liberal housing lobby ACORN, a major player in pressuring banks into making more subprime mortgages. They also donated $2.5 million to MoveOn.org, the liberal group that insulted General David Petraeus as “General Betray Us” last year. Mr. Soros contributed a like amount. In turn, Eli Pariser, the head of MoveOn.org, was quite candid after the 2004 election about the influence this left-wing cabal hoped to exercise: “Now it’s our party: we bought it, we own it, and we are going to take it back.”

No doubt the Sandlers and Mr. Soros were displeased with the Saturday Night Live sketch. Herbert Sandler told the Associated Press that its portrayal of him as a predatory lender was “crap.” “We are being unfairly tarred. People have been telling us to speak out for some time, but we didn’t think it was appropriate. That was clearly a mistake.”

I suspect that some of the people the Sandlers have spoken to — or complained to — are the corporate overseers of NBC. That may explain why the bailout sketch has been airbrushed from the network’s Web site and will likely never be shown again.

That’s a shame, because rarely has political satire been more timely, pointed and, in many respects, so truthful.”

Time to grab your beat-up copy of 1984, Folks.

“The people who aspired to become this new aristocracy are described as ‘bureaucrats, scientists, technicians, trade-union organisers, publicity experts, sociologists, teachers, journalists and professional politicians’, with their origins in ‘the salaried middle class and the upper grades of the working class’.”

WELCOME TO OBAMA’S BASE (supported by the backs of the black poor)

“In his quest to learn what’s really going on in his society, Winston Smith, Orwell’s protagonist, finally gets his hands on a copy of the underground classic,  The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism by Emmanuel Goldstein.

“The first chapter, Ignorance is Strength, begins with the observation that throughout history, all societies have been divided into a caste system of three groups or classes: the High, who are the rulers; the Middle, who yearn to take over the position of the High; and the Low, who are typically so suppressed that in their drudgery they have no goals beyond day-to-day survival (if they are at all able to formulate any political agenda, it is to establish a society where all people are equal).

. . .”In each variant of Socialism that appeared from about 1900 onwards the aim of establishing liberty and equality was more and more openly abandoned. The new movements which appeared in the middle years of the century…had the conscious aim of perpetuating unfreedom and inequality.” The real goal was to freeze history once the Middle had once again overthrown the High and become the new High themselves: This would be the last revolution ever; the new High would stay in power indefinitely by a conscious strategy. The people who aspired to become this new aristocracy are described as “bureaucrats, scientists, technicians, trade-union organisers, publicity experts, sociologists, teachers, journalists and professional politicians”, with their origins in “the salaried middle class and the upper grades of the working class”.”

Regarding freddiebrown’s flyers:

I think most Pumas have their own creative ways in distributing flyers, just some more suggestions that may helpful:

Distributing Flyers in the Community:
One of the best ways to get to know your community and the small businesspeople who are still left in it, is to distribute your flyers at stores, restaurants, convenience stores, laundromats, etc.

Distributing Flyers in the Streets:
One of the easiest ways to “get your feet wet” is distributing flyers at events, parades, etc., interacting with the public in a non threatening way.

Rule One: Never distribute flyers alone. Always go in pairs. This is for safety, and for practical reasons

Rule Two: Blend in with the community in your appearance and demeanor. If the community you are targeting is a college campus, send your young, college age members, dressed accordingly. If the community is working class, don’t wear a suit. Be clean, friendly, non confrontational, and smile like you’re having fun!

Rule Three: Position yourself to hand out the maximum number of flyers with a minimum of disturbance. Don’t block sidewalks, stay to the side. Hold the flyer out, let folks take it. NEVER press flyers on anyone. If someone doesn’t want a flyer, refuses it or hands it back, no problem. Smile but don’t slow down nor get in a conversation, just continue handing out flyers.

Rule Four: Repeat! Don’t argue, don’t discuss, don’t explain and don’t turn around and go back. Hand out flyers. If engaged in conversation, you can’t hand out flyers

Rule Five: Know your 1st Amendment rights & exercise them. You have the right to hand out flyers on any public sidewalk, park, or right of way. You do not have to obtain any kind of permit to do so. However, you need to decide in advance, what action(s) you want to take if confronted by the police, who may, or may not know or care, you have First Amendment rights. You must also be prepared (bail) for a judge that does not recognize your rights

* The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects your right to hand out flyers, picket, and organize “peaceable” demonstrations.
Flyers: Police often either don’t know (or pretend they don’t) the 1st Amendment exists, don’t know what it means, or think their community has passed some other law that “overrides” the 1st Amendment. Obviously, this is absurd. Point this out to the police in a calm, rational, and very polite manner. Usually, the police back down. If not, it’s up to you to decide what is more important, handing out the flyers (simply by moving elsewhere) or making a 1st Amendment stand.

Would you mind copying and pasting your flyer distribution suggestions to actioncenter@pumapac.org ? Thank you.

Suggestion: When you send email, i.e. ed shultz, I suggest cc’ing as many other media contacts as possible (check the whole planet email list in the Media section of the Action Center. The email lists have been prepared for mass emailing). The purpose of doing this is to make noise, but moreso to let the principle know that our grievances are public, and thus bring more pressure to bear.

I remember when the primary for OH, PA, TX and IN were on, he said she wouldn’t win any of those. Of course when she did I sent him the nastiest email I could write.
He is always on CNN bashing McCain now. He has drunk gallons of the koolade!
He is not worth my time to email him now.

Repost – damn it Murphy

If there ever was a political whore it’s Ed Schultz and the rest of his Air America buddies. I used to listen religiously, but early in the primary campaign after they started pummeling Hillary Clinton and lying about BO, I stopped listening. Haven’t listened since, but see them on cnn all the time. Stephanie Miller is a true dumb brunette (and I’ve told her so) and Schultz screams like a banshee. It’s all about the money from the BO campaign.

#24 jenniforhillary on 10.07.08 at 1:56 pm

Dear Mr. Schultz,

The differences between Gov. Palin and Senator Obama are as follows: She has a history of protecting American Citizens from corporations, from unethical politicians including Republicans, and–both as a mayor and a governor–she has a PROVEN track record of keeping her word. Her friends, family and mentors are not racists, misogynists, or terrorists, and she appears to be firmly grounded as a loving, spiritual mother, elected politician, American citizen. When Gov. Palin speaks she speaks to me, about me, and on behalf of me in clear, succinct, precise statements specially addressing what she will do to help me, my family, my community, my America. Lower taxes, get rid of waste both internally and externally, balance the budget, tighten borders–get this country back to what it was and should be. She clearly loves me and this country, and in return she will get my vote.

The man you think you are assisting by demeaning Gov. Palin has a track record worthy of a mid-level crook, he has done nothing for his constituents but misuse their trust and their money, and his friends, mentors, and religious leaders are all racists, misogynists, or terrorists. When he speaks he demeans me, this country, and our history. His hatred is clear, and his agenda is not. But even though I am just a girl, I can put two and two together and his type of ‘change’ would have to represent his family, his church, and his hate-filled words and that type of change almost brought down a country (Germany) and the world. Thanks, but no thanks I don’t need that type of change.

Finally, remember that every time you demean a woman your mother’s face, your sister’s face, your wife’s face, or your daughter’s face should be staring back at you. And always remember that the person you truly diminish is yourself.

sincerely,
jennifer XXXX

Last evening, I ran into and had a conversation in passing with a friend that I don’t see often. When I told her and her husband that I was not supporting Obama, they gasped! They said all of this about Obama and his association with Ayers is just the typical character assisination smears that appear in every election. These are intelligent people, and well educated. I have been doing some really serious thought about this all evening and this morning.

To most people, Ayers is yesterday’s news. So is the Keating scandal. Many of our new voters cannot relate to either one. This is where the relevance to our time needs to be established.

Ayers needs to be attacked, not only on his bomber status, but on his current educational efforts. He needs to be exposed for the current activities and connected in a concrete way, in a main stream news story, to Rezko and to the mortgage meltdown. He is connected, but the connections are underground and fuzzy. If the Federal Prosecutor or someone in Chicago News Papers would do some kind of link to the these things and Ayers, then it would become relevant in today’s terms.

Next, we need to find a way to connect Obama to Ayers in a way that has him doing something ILLEGAL. The more recent the better.

My hope is that the Annenburg project or one of the other ACORN/community organizing groups can be connected in a way that shows current or recent past illegalities.

Next, we muct associate ACORN with Ayers and Obama in a concrete and destructive way. Since they have covered their tracks so well, that will be hard to do.

If the evidence is there, and McCain can get it into the public eye, Obama will go down. Otherwise, some people will do what my friends have done and write it off as just another attempt at character assisination.

My email to Ed Schultz

Dear Ed,

As an independent, informed voter I was appalled by your reference to Sarah Palin as an “empty skirt running mate” and a “political whore” on your blog.

In addition to being extremely sexist in tone, your comments display a significant lack of intellectual honesty, seeing as your blog was criticizing Senator McCain and Governor Palin for what you percieve to be a lack of civility (i.e., Their telling the truth about Senator Obama and his connections to Ayers, Alinsky and ACORN).

You, Sir, are a dishonorable hack.

……………………..

POINTS IN THE NEWSWEEK ARTICLE:
“Palin, McCain and the Weeks Ahead”
http://www.newsweek.com/id/162297/page/1

–> Sarah Palin:

• She is the governor of a state with an $11 billion operating budget, a $1.7 billion capital budget and nearly 29,000 employees

• She’s got more executive experience than any candidate for president or vice president this year.

• In Alaska she took on the state political establishment, the incumbent Republican governor and the oil companies.

• She’s a rising star who accentuates John McCain’s maverick strengths and a “hockey mom” who has developed a powerful tie to ordinary voters.

–> People have persistent doubts about whether Obama is qualified:

• Barack Obama has less than half a term in the Senate, where he’s proposed little, accomplished less and spent virtually every day campaigning—as if being on the trail is a principal qualification for president.

• McCain-Palin must deepen those doubts by pounding away on questions about Obama’s character, judgment and values.

• Drawing on Obama’s own record and statements, they need to paint him as a big spender, class warrior and cultural elitist

• They need to say he’s never worked across party lines or gotten his hands dirty solving big issues.

–> But the duo must also give voters reasons to support them. They must crystallize a positive, forward-looking vision so people who see Obama as unqualified have something to hang on to.

• McCain-Palin must offer a narrative about what they will do to help America see better days, especially on kitchen-table concerns.

For many months, I have noticed many things on O…vanishing from the web. A lot of bloggers have noticed it as well. That’s why many of us try to screenshot, save or print out particularly juicy items.
It is unnerving–but we all know how google-youtube feels about Obama.

Many other countries use internet censoring, well, we now know the USA does it too.

#55 indy on 10.07.08 at 2:11 pm

Henrietta #25,

I posted on the last thread about Obama and Ayers. Ayers is STILL in Obama’s life. Read my re-post this:

Obama advisor promotes a reparations approach to education reform; Ayers endorses it

In 2006 Professor Gloria Ladson-Billings of the University of Wisconsin, the then president of the American Education Research Association (AERA), the nation’s leading School of Education professional association, proposed a new policy to tackle the problems of America’s public schools: the repayment of centuries of “education debt” that allegedly is owed to people of color as a result of slavery and discrimination. She rooted the concept in the literature supporting reparations for slavery.
In 2007 Linda Darling-Hammond, a prominent and respected professor at the Stanford University School of Education, endorsed the same idea in an article in The Nation. In late 2007 Darling-Hammond was named an education advisor to the Obama campaign. In February 2008 Darling-Hammond issued a blueprint for education reform by the next President that set as its #1 priority the repayment of the “education debt,” as proposed originally by Ladson-Billings.
Bill Ayers has endorsed the idea of repayment of the “education debt.” Ayers is now a Vice President-elect (Division B: Curriculum Studies) of the AERA.
A chapter called “Education for Democracy” by Darling-Hammond appeared in a volume co-edited by Ayers called A Light in Dark Times. A chapter co-authored by Ladson-Billings on “racing justice” appeared in a book co-edited by Ayers called Teaching for Social Justice: A Democracy and Education Reader. Ladson-Billings wrote the foreword to Ayers’ book, To Teach: The Journey of a Teacher. Ayers and Ladson-Billings are co-editors of City Kids, City Schools: More Reports from the Front Row just published.

Also:

A few months back Michelle Obama, Bill Ayers and his wife were in attendance at a party given by Rashid Khalidi for his daughter’s wedding. Khalidi, President of the Arab Americal Action Network, was given thousands of dollars from the Woods Fund when Obama and Ayers were on the board together. Khalidi is also tied to the Palestinian Liberation Org.

Obama’s ties to these people is still current. It’s just that they’ve tried to keep a low profile, until after the election.

#32: “shows what LIBERALS think of women and it ain’t good…”

Whaaaaaaaat? You do realize that feminism is a liberal view, in that it promotes equality and personal liberty, right? You do realize that Hillary is a liberal, right? You do realize that sexism is the conservative position, right?

Have we now reached the point where PUMAs are not Hillary voters, and not disaffected democrats, but honest-to-god conservatives? Is PUMAPac so against Obama that we are against all liberals, now?

Did you send an email yet to Freddiebrown? We have less than 28 days to go before election time, we must all do what we can to defeat NObama.

Country before party!

We all can make a difference this election, we must all encourage registered to vote to go out and vote against NObama, my absentee ballot should be here the 15th of this month. I’ve no love for the Democratic Party right now, in fact I have ZERO trust on them buggers. This November, our decision can make or break USA, the country we all love.

WE, the people cannot allow a radical associated with people who hates America to be in the Whitehouse, that would be the end of this country.

Only McCain/Palin has the gonads to clean up Washington and set this country in the right direction. For the first time in my life, I’d be voting Republican and proud of it.

I can’t wait for Freddie’s flyers to arrive, I’d be spending a lot of time on the road, distributing them. I’d be targetting casinos and stick them flyers on windshield.

Snowtiger: I don’t know if this is what you need ?

If you saw tonight’s debate, you saw Governor Sarah Palin give a spirited defense of the same disastrous policies that have failed us for the past eight years.

She couldn’t identify a single area where she or John McCain would change George W. Bush’s economic or foreign policy positions.

If you want something different, Barack and I need your help.

Make a donation of $5 or more right now to bring about the change we need.

The change we need is fixing this broken economy from the bottom up — not tax breaks for the wealthy and huge corporations that ship U.S. jobs overseas. We need to focus on defeating al Qaeda and the Taliban and restoring America’s standing in the world — not an unending commitment in Iraq.

Let’s be clear: Governor Palin and Senator McCain are offering nothing but more of the same failed Bush policies at home and abroad, trying to disguise them in the rhetoric of change.

Americans need real solutions and real change.

We’re in this together and there’s a lot to do before Election Day. Please make a donation of $5 or more right now to support this campaign for change:

Personally, I’m against any one, group, political party, or other organization, that undermines democratic principles, like, ummm counting votes, or pressuing the winning candidate out of a political race.

Democrats have been feeding us their line for decades… we were willing to buy it because they were the lesser of two evils. Then the pricks, ( including the patriarchal handmaids) showed us their true colors…
the depth of their sexist misogynist bullshit, their willingness to allow it without so much as a peep from their quarter, the vile rulings in this last cycle of primary elections (I won’t begin the litany of violations and manipulations), etc. Don’t get me started on your boy’s racist crap either.

Don’t effin come in here and try to pretend that the Republicans are the exclusive party of sexism… we know better.
Where their are unenlightened boys, there is sexism, right wing, left wing, doesnt matter. Take a look at some of the blogs… and then try to convince us that the Republicans have the corner on sexism.

Where there are no fair elections, where votes aren’t counted, and elections are rigged, political positions matter not one iota.

Meanwhile, just stfu.

altho 20 years ago Markos was a republican, as was, I believe, Josh Marshall.

in any case, what did the “liberals” ever do for Anita Hill?
Kimba Wood?
Geraldine Ferraro?

show me a liberal democrat in office whose signature issue is reproductive rights or equal rights.

which liberal democrat in office is fighting for the Equal Rights Amendment?

which liberal democrat in office stood up against the msm’s sexist portrayal of Hillary?

which liberal democrat is fighting against systemic rape and torture of girls and women in Africa? murder, terrorism, and torture of women and girls in the middle east, pakistan, and afghanistan?

yeah, right.

liberals?

LAS VEGAS – Nevada state authorities are raiding the Las Vegas headquarters of an organization that works to get low-income people to vote.

A Nevada secretary of state’s office spokesman said Tuesday that investigators are looking for evidence of voter fraud at the office of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also called ACORN.

No one was at the ACORN office when state agents arrived with a search warrant and began carting records and documents away.

Secretary of State spokesman Bob Walsh says ACORN is accused of submitting multiple voter registrations with false and duplicate names.

The raid comes two months after state and federal authorities formed a task force to pursue election-fraud allegations in Nevada.

Actually I made “flyering” fun when I was stuck at airports waiting… each time I go to the rest room (it was many times) i would come back with a wicked smile and my husband would know I was putting up flyers – even though I really had to go…Sometimes when I come out and no one is around, I go to the next stall just to stick a flyer on the door – at eye level.
I stuck it on elevators – saw an AA bus boy very annoyed and flustered when he kept seeing it. Don’t waste the flyer on places with a lot of black folks – they
will rip it down.

What I do is put some flyers in an old folder and chuck it in my bag. In my hand would be a magazine but I would have a flyer before hand UNDER the magazine. I would pretend to lay my magazine down but in fact I am laying a flyer down. I pick up my magazine and I walk away. I did that a lot at Starbucks…pretty soon your mind is full of ideas and you have no time to think nasty thoughts.

If anyone asks , just dead pan and say, no..it was here when I came up. What is it ?

When did I say that? I’m just objecting to the idea, stated explicitly above, that liberals hate women. I count myself as a liberal. I would have thought all you self-described ‘PUMA democrats’ counted yourselves as liberals too. And to say that all self-described liberals are sell-outs who hate women is also just a lie.

And it’s a lie that’s demonstrated by the fact that the ‘self-described liberal’ democrats elect more than twice as many women. Why would they do that if they were in fact the sexist party? Tell me to ‘stfu’ if you like, but maybe you should have a think about that statistic before you become a card-carrying republican.

I think it’s obvious there has been a big shift in the politics of this group. You were PUMA Democrats. Now you are just regular republicans. It’s not about Hillary or vote-stealing anymore, and most of the blog posts here are on republican talking points: rezko, ayers, wright, ‘whitey’, bailout, etc., etc.

We’re now at the point where anyone who dares to defend liberals gets told to ‘go back to KOS’ and ‘stfu’. I guess democrats aren’t even welcome here anymore, PUMA or not.

Oh and by the way, I find it interesting that none of you has an explanation for why democrats elect twice as many women. It’s about EQUALITY, that’s why I became a democrat 23 years ago.

Oops, forgot to paste the article.

Sol Stern Obama’s Real Bill Ayers Problem

The ex-Weatherman is now a radical educator with influence. 23 April 2008 Barack Obama complains that he’s been unfairly attacked for a casual political and social relationship with his neighbor, former Weatherman Bill Ayers. Obama has a point.

In the ultraliberal Hyde Park community where the presidential candidate first earned his political spurs, Ayers is widely regarded as a member in good standing of the city’s civic establishment, not an unrepentant domestic terrorist. But Obama and his critics are arguing about the wrong moral question. The more pressing issue is not the damage done by the Weather Underground 40 years ago, but the far greater harm inflicted on the nation’s schoolchildren by the political and educational movement in which Ayers plays a leading role today.

A Chicago native son, Ayers first went into combat with his Weatherman comrades during the “Days of Rage” in 1969, smashing storefront windows along the city’s Magnificent Mile and assaulting police officers and city officials.

Chicago’s mayor at the time was the Democratic boss of bosses, Richard J. Daley. The city’s current mayor, Richard M. Daley, has employed Ayers as a teacher trainer for the public schools and consulted him on the city’s education-reform plans. Obama’s supporters can reasonably ask: If Daley fils can forgive Ayers for his past violence, why should Obama’s less consequential contacts with Ayers be a political disqualification? It’s hard to disagree. Chicago’s liberals have chosen to define deviancy down in Ayers’s case, and Obama can’t be blamed for that.

What he can be blamed for is not acknowledging that his neighbor has a political agenda that, if successful, would make it impossible to lift academic achievement for disadvantaged children. As I have shown elsewhere in City Journal, Ayers’s politics have hardly changed since his Weatherman days. He still boasts about working full-time to bring down American capitalism and imperialism. This time, however, he does it from his tenured perch as Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Instead of planting bombs in public buildings, Ayers now works to indoctrinate America’s future teachers in the revolutionary cause, urging them to pass on the lessons to their public school students.

Indeed, the education department at the University of Illinois is a hotbed for the radical education professoriate. As Ayers puts it in one of his course descriptions, prospective K-12 teachers need to “be aware of the social and moral universe we inhabit and . . . be a teacher capable of hope and struggle, outrage and action, a teacher teaching for social justice and liberation.” Ayers’s texts on the imperative of social-justice teaching are among the most popular works in the syllabi of the nation’s ed schools and teacher-training institutes.

One of Ayers’s major themes is that the American public school system is nothing but a reflection of capitalist hegemony. Thus, the mission of all progressive teachers is to take back the classrooms and turn them into laboratories of revolutionary change.
Unfortunately, neither Obama nor his critics in the media seem to have a clue about Ayers’s current work and his widespread influence in the education schools.

In his last debate with Hillary Clinton, Obama referred to Ayers as a “professor of English,” an error that the media then repeated. Would that Ayers were just another radical English professor. In that case, his poisonous anti-American teaching would be limited to a few hundred college students in the liberal arts. But through his indoctrination of future K-12 teachers, Ayers has been able to influence what happens in hundreds, perhaps thousands, of classrooms.

Ayers’s influence on what is taught in the nation’s public schools is likely to grow in the future. Last month, he was elected vice president for curriculum of the 25,000-member American Educational Research Association (AERA), the nation’s largest organization of education-school professors and researchers. Ayers won the election handily, and there is no doubt that his fellow education professors knew whom they were voting for. In the short biographical statement distributed to prospective voters beforehand, Ayers listed among his scholarly books Fugitive Days, an unapologetic memoir about his ten years in the Weather Underground. The book includes dramatic accounts of how he bombed the Pentagon and other public buildings.

AERA already does a great deal to advance the social-justice teaching agenda in the nation’s schools and has established a Social Justice Division with its own executive director. With Bill Ayers now part of the organization’s national leadership, you can be sure that it will encourage even more funding and support for research on how teachers can promote left-wing ideology in the nation’s classrooms-and correspondingly less support for research on such mundane subjects as the best methods for teaching underprivileged children to read.

The next time Obama-the candidate who purports to be our next “education president”-discusses education on the campaign trail, it would be nice to hear what he thinks of his Hyde Park neighbor’s vision for turning the nation’s schools into left-wing indoctrination centers. Indeed, it’s an appropriate question for all the presidential candidates.

The next head of the Dept. of Education? Ayers, the Marxist?

LAS VEGAS — Nevada state authorities are raiding the Las Vegas headquarters of an organization that works to get low-income people to vote.

“Card-carrying republican” … lol.
I’m a kuchinich democrat… even though he’s a bit too right for my tastes.

My vote, and you do not get to know how I will vote, nor tell me how I should vote, will not be cast for the selectee of the boys of your party.

The reason there are more women in positions of power in the Democratic Party is because the majority of voters are women… women determine the outcome of elections… thank you for not trying to take credit for our accomplishments.

By the way, the days of boys using feminism, or roe v wade, or anything else, to divide, separate leftist from rightwing women, and thereby dilute the power of women, are over.
Here let me say that again, for the denser among your ilk: THOSE. DAYS. ARE. OVER.
Women know we are all in this together, and that’s the way we will fight the neaderthals on the right and the left. Get used to it.

many, many democratic VOTERS are liberals — good guys. I used to call myself one too.

I still believe in all the same principles that I believed in back in January. The only thing that changed was the Democratic Party.

Liberal VOTERS elect twice as many women as men because liberal VOTERS are usually WOMEN.

Senator John Glenn

******************

Thank you goofsmom but this is what I found out about Senator John Glenn…………

Glenn was one of the five U. S. Senators caught up with Lincoln Savings and the Keating Five Scandal after accepting a $200,000 contribution from Charles Keating.

Glenn and Republican Senator John McCain were the only Senators exonerated.

The Senate Commission found that Glenn had exercised “poor judgment.”

The association of his name with the scandal gave Republicans hope that he would be vulnerable in the 1992 campaign. Instead, Glenn handily defeated Lieutenant Governor R. Michael DeWine to keep his seat.

Quotes from today:

what happened to McCain “the maverick”? . . . the one who promised a respectful campaign!!! He even said 2 months ago-once you start going negative-it proves you have no vision for the future!!!

he has no plans whatsoever on either the economy or international relations . . . just more of the same Bush policies that got us here in the first place

so now he’s going to drag the country into the mud for the next month in a desperate and greedy attempt to scare the country about voting for Obama because he’s a “black”, “muslim”, “terrorist” It didn’t work for Hillary.

The John McCain I once admired has sold his soul . . . he has no honor -and picking that twit wasn’t putting country first-it was putting himself first–good luck–I now look like a fool-trying to convice BO supporters to go for McCain–they look at me like I am an idiot. With the economy in the tank-and 2 wars–he should have gone negative early–not 29 days out–unbeleivable.

re:the view–Sheri is there to counter Elisabeth–who still thenk Sarah Palin was a good choice–
Also, McCain better be careful playing the association game–it won’t bode well for him–however you feel-Keating 5 is far more relevant than Ayers–even the National Review thinks the Ayers thng is silly–come on people!

the truth??? wow-talk about Kool aid drinking–again–even the National Review-the republican gospel-knows the ayers thing is ridiculous–I live in Chicago–If you worked with the education system-you probably dealt with ayers on some level-I can’t even beleive this was the best the McCain camp came up with. Even ardent republicans can’t beleive McCain is pulling this crap when the country is falling apart(but the fundamentals are strong(<:

Quotes from last week:

http://www.recordnet.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080928/A_OPINION01/809280301/-1/A_OPINION
FOX(yes fox) said this was the first time in 72 years they have endored a president!! really??? what is the record anyway?

You happen to post this as an eye catcher! Very subtle indeed!

re:IFIL-tomorrow’s debate.
The McCain camp could have rejected her as moderator(each party can take a pass-just like jury duty)-but they didn’t-because they were too stupid to google her-then they would have found out about her book–just like they didn’t research Palin–what a joke.

My point is, why is she able to be on here to spew hate, to pass along Bo’s talking point, and to defend Bo at every turn?

I am not a liberal…I am a radical progressive…I think liberal, like democrat, is a cover for elect me but i’m really not for total equality (just enough to get elected).

I want CHANGE NOW. I have always wanted change–since I was 5 years old. I think a lot of good people do not realize that liberals (i.e. Air America and their type) are NOT freedom fighters, so I am loose with the terminology. GOOD people stand out no matter what they say they are, and this year is proof positive that there are good people ALL OVER in every party under every heading in every color and representing every gender and sexual orientation.

That being said PUMA is in my heart and mind a freedom fighting organization…Hillary’s misogynistic trouncing and the STEALING of our votes by the DNC assisted by the MSM was the genesis of this group but our goal is MUCH GREATER than Hillary–our goal is saving the world. At least that is the way I see it–starting with getting rid of Hitler’s Hussy and his team of fascists.

I am calling OHIO today for McCain and I am concerned people. VERY concerned. But hopeful. I called a friend in texas and got her to reconsider McCain….

KEEP WORKING PEOPLE…we can do this….YES WE CAN. YES WE CAN!!!

In July 2008, Oprah did a revamping of her very popular and active message boards. That included posters not being able to talk politics anymore. Guess she doesn’t think that women should do that. Or, it could be that there were too many anti-Obama people on there and she squelched their speech by eliminating Politics and Global Issues.

I know some of the anti-Obama posters were going to go to The National Enquieer with this. Even though one of the owners is a Clinton supporter and was hoping to be Sec. of Treasury under Hillary, he has supposedly has no editorial control of the newspaper. But, maybe he does, but they did print the Edward’s baby story.

A poster asked:

Please explain why the thread of about Obama in Afghanistan was removed? Post, answer and comments here:

http://www.oprah.com/community/thread/82261?tstart=15

A woman posted an Open Letter to Oprah Winfrey which included this:
Has this become another Barack Obama ONLY website where people cannot give their true opinions about a political candidate that has been publicly endorsed by the website’s owner?

Chill out, everyone. It was a total knock on Obama that was printed on Ace of Spades, a conservative blog. I thought it was a very obvious shot at Nobama. I guess a few of you need to have things explained a little more in-depth.

***************
You should chill out and when you post maybe you can prefix your post with your above comment first, then it will make sense, but when you just throw out like you did, then you will get a reaction.

“Jesus was in the Weather Underground.
Pilate was one of the Keating Five.”

That is pure black theology, they believe Jesus was a radical black leader.

My personal belief is that black theology followers are really Muslims in disguise.

I tried to google “dirt on Valerie Jarrett” and below is a link. You never know what curious PUMAs can find and make things go viral to the media. I have to work on faxes now..

I understand, that is why I do not watch the news anymore. It is so frustrating. I get all my information here because I do not get FOX. If I sat down and watched the news, I would be crabby every single day. It is sad what the media is coming to. Everything is about money these days I guess.

#204 Cassie on 10.07.08 at 3:46 pm

tennaseepuma,
I had saved two quotes from c4hill from last week. One says Fox endorses a candidate. The article had nothing to do with Fox at all! The MSM are in the tank for Bo. They are alreading endorsing him. The next quote calls Sarah stupid. I’m angry because people are saying that it was me dropping a stink bomb on this site!

#205 jenniforhillary on 10.07.08 at 3:46 pm

new orleans….bring it on girl….and I’m not even mad yet. Not even close..

MEDIA Is fucked you all. IGNORE IT. I am not watching the news until after BO LOSES. Just watch FOX and work to make sure BO LOSES….take care of yourselves, and kick some obot ass to relieve stress…

THINGS I DO TO RELIEVE STRESS:
1) wipe my booty on letters from dnc and then send it back to them using their money (true, and my mother forbade me from stating this but it is the truth)
2) engage obots by telling them that God told me not to vote for him (and I am sweet as pie when i say it….I mean how can they argue with god)
3) if i’m among a large group of obots pick up my cell phone and have a LOUD discussion about NOBAMA and him being the antichrist…and I mean LOUD
4) accidentally pull up NOBAMA signs….I got caught yesterday and claimed I was cleaning it :)
5) accidentally put McCain bumper stickers on NOBAMA ones–have not been caught yet thank god
6) laugh a lot about how sweet it will be when NOBAMA loses….

KEEP IT REAL…KEEP IT SAFE…REMEMBER the fight may be long so keep yourselves healthy!!!

————

I agree with you. Black Liberation Theology seems to have sprung up from the same roots out of which the Black Panthers in the 60′s built their ideology/theology. Many of them did convert to ISLAM, changed their names to ones reflecting their black African Muslim solidarity. It’s a uniquely American form of Islam, but nonetheless it’s Islam, wrapped up in the fake cloth of professed Christianity, which just seems to me to be a strategy to make it more palatable to American blacks

I am in no way trying to infringe on anyone’s religious views, I respect you all, but for those who do like to pray here is an email I just received:

A Minute Each Night

We have never been more desperate than now for God to heal our land. This election is the scariest I remember in my lifetime.

Do you believe we can take God at His word? Call upon His name, then stand back and watch His wonders to behold. This scripture gives us, as Christians, ownership of this land and the ability to call upon God to heal it. I challenge you to do so..

1 Chronicles 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

During WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England , its people and peace. This had an amazing effect as bombing stopped. There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America . The United States of America and our citizens need prayer more than ever ! ! !

If you would like to partic ipate: each evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central, 7:00 PM Mountain, 6:00 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, for peace in the world, the up-coming election, that the Bible will remain the basis for the laws governing our land and that Christianity will grow in the U.S.

If you know anyone who would like to participate, please pass this along.

Someone said if people really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have.

Thank You. Please pass this on to anyone who you think will want to join us.

I am from northern VA, all of my friends up there say they cant believe they say its a swing state. They are all McCain, everyone they know is McCain. A handful of BO supporters but thats it. No. VA has a lot of military too.

Hello! This is a re-post from yesterday. I have been on leave from blogging for a few months. I needed a break and at the same time, my father passed away as well. Anyway, I used to be DrTS on other PUMA sites. I have been active in getting the PUMA word out and doing prowls. I still read this site every day.

In reference to the polls, my husband is a statistician and he has calculated that the polls are oversampling Democrats over Republicans. There is no way that there is 51% Dems and 38% Repubs. in PA. I think it is to cover up that BO is losing. They are trying to play the mind game with McCain supporters and to get us frustrated. I can see from some of the responses that it is working. Don’t let it! I predict that as we get closer to the election, the polls will have to start reflecting what is “really” going on.

For example, some polls say that BO is winning VA. That is bs. I went to our annual Fall Festival on Saturday of which hundreds of people attend each year. They had a GOP and a Democrat booth. The GOP booth was hopping with people. The worker in the GOP booth told us that he has worked that booth for many, many Presidential elections, and he has never had so much support for a Presidental candidate as displayed for McCain/Palin. I can also testify that people were wearing McCain stickers in droves. Everywhere I went, someone had on a McCain sticker. I have never seen that before, and I have been going to this Fall Festival for 18 years! People were also carrying McCain/Palin yards signs around. There were two recent polls – one by Mason/Dixon who had McCain UP in VA. He was winning every geographic area except for Northern VA. However, I think that even in Northern VA, it is getting tighter and going in McCain’s direction. Rasputin the pollster is in BO’s corner, and doesn’t want people to know the truth. In addition, did you know that he is polling 41% D to 29% R? That is not representative of the population. Notice that these pollsters don’t come out and say how they are conducting these polls.

So, the moral of the story is to don’t believe these polls. McCain is very popular in VA and he has solidified his support in this state. He and Palin are coming to VA on Monday – to Virginia Beach and to Richmond!

I don’t post often but wanted to report what I am seeing in Michigan. There was one (yes, one) sign for Obama in my little town. Over the last week or so there have been many additions to yards with McCain/Palin ( I have counted 6 with more popping up) but no more Obama signs than that single one. And now the people that have that Obama sign have moved it so it sits behind their fence, sort of out of sight almost. Now that’s funny! Maybe they are reconsidering.. People have been taking the fliers I pass out. I simply tell them to educate themselves with the facts. I think Michigan voters are scared, our economy is so bad. But I also think the polls are wrong, it’s just not what I am seeing. Let’s keep fighting, stay tenacious everyone in any way you can. We can turn this around! In fact, I think we already are doing that!! Just because McCain pulled out of Michigan doesn’t mean his people and the others against Obama aren’t fighting, because we are!!! Clintons4McCain site also has a good flier available that I have been passing out to folks. A lot of people want to know the facts..they want to know who Obama really is..so let’s give it to them! Go PUMA’s!!!

I have a theory on this. I agree with Rush Limbaugh that these polls will get closer to the “real” data as we get closer to election day. I think someone posted yesterday that Rush said within 48 hours of election day. I think it may be a little sooner than that. Why? Because the pollsters don’t want to lose their credibility when they are proven wrong on election day. Look what happened after the NH primary? People didn’t trust the polls after that because they were all wrong (except for one I believe).

Next, I think they are trying to save BO’s face because he is losing ground. It’s all about perception. It’s an illusion they have created to make people think he is ahead. What they will do will blame it on “race” when BO loses and that people were afraid to vote for him because he’s black (which is bs). We know that’s not the “real” reason, but that’s what the media will say.

Just my theory.

my letter to the NewYuckTimes:

In Jim Rutenberg’s “Obama’s Personal Ties Are Subject of Program on Fox News Channel” (Oct 6, 2008), he states that “The New York Times, have found no evidence that Mr. Obama and Mr. Ayers were particularly close, although they have had various points of contact.”
As someone who was once was excited about Obama’s candidacy, but lie after lie after lie, I could no longer in good conscience be supportive of such a man. Below is the URL to a press release showing that Michelle Obama was Director of the University of Chicago Community Service Center in 1997 when William Ayers participated in the Center’s discussion series. Clearly even the Obama supporters at the New York Times can’t dismiss this situation as simply a “point of contact” when Mrs. Obama had a direct hand in William Ayers’ participation.

William Ayers -just a guy who lives in the neighborhood. Flowery rhetoric or simply a lie?

Va is in play. I attended Oktoberfest in Vienna, VA, it’s next to McLean, on Saturday. I swear every other person was carrying an Obama sign. There were 2 Obama venues there. What totally freaked me out was the drive from I66 down Nutley to Vienna’s main street. It was lined with Obama signs and it seemed every house along the way had Obama signs.

Now my part of Northern VA is Republican. I will be attending Clifton Day this weekend where the Rs will have the advantage.

Trust me, this will be a close election in VA, but one McCain can win. Everyone HAS TO VOTE no matter how long the lines are. Plan to wait in lines. Emphasize this to everyone!

I had heard that Obama had his own channel on DirecTV, but didn’t know about Dish. I just got a call from a friend who told me that if his satellite receiver goes into “sleep mode” that when he wakes it up, it automatically goes to the Obama Network! If he enters in an invalid channel number, the receiver takes him to the Obama Network. Wonder how much Obama had to pay to get Dish to do that??

RedStateGuy, it was in the UPPER Millions I am sure, because its broadcast with no sponsors, this guy is a MARXIST! IF that does not scream Stalin and Hitler and Jong-Il and Saddam Hussein I don’t know what does! He is already starting the mind manipulation, and he started with his weak and clingy voter base! Everyone needs to know that OBAMA demanded that these TOWNHALL questions be pre-screened and decided on, NOW that is a 21st Century Leader he wanted NO SURPRISES! THIS is getting harder to stomach by the second!

My friend said he was watching a show, got up and went to the bathroom. When he came back, his receiver had switch to the Obama network on it’s own.

Hillary is a moderate Democrat.

ABSOLUTELY I personally have met and spoke with HRC, and even she sees Obama is too far left, too Liberal and too PRO ABORTION, like she said and I quote: “emphasis should be on education and prevention so that ALL abortions become rare when necessary!” THAT is NOT a far left view, it actually sounds more like the Cons. Democrats of yesterday long ago, Obama is MASKING himself as a Democrat but actually he is quite Marxist and NOT Democratic at all from a standard definition, he really appealled to a great deal of ANTI AMERICANS, and people WHO hate the USA, I had a Muslim write to me in Muslim language on youtube, and after I translated it it said “Death to America, Obama is exhalted, Obama blessed, and serves to protect Alllah and Arab Americans” I was pretty angry with this and according to this guy who attends Columbia, its ONLY a matter of time before we are completely infiltrated and taken over! He says Obama has a great deal of Muslim supporters here and in the Middle East and Europe!

Good God, if my child was taking a class with that traitor/terrorist Ayers, I would scream bloody murder. How could a university hire such a anti-American thug.

Oh yea, I guess he didn’t end up with a criminal record, sort of like early O.J.

http://www.geocities.com/WallStreet/8925/alinsky.htm read the rest of Alinsky’s Rules….
you are seeing at work now. Obama started off nice then built up after he gained some followers now he’s peaking……….and cheating deceit and lies.
One reason why he takes so long to make a deceision or votes “present” to me, is he must check with his radical advisors….he’s going to ruin this country as we know it.

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

Anyone want to light a candle for McCain tonight in the debate – go here

==================================
Afternoon Pumas – just got off from work and have not had time to go through two threads to see if this has been reported and sincerely apologize if it is a repeat by one or two or three other people -

reposted from downstairs:

Listening to the radio this morning – they were saying that the audience for the debate tonight was chosen by none other than GALLUP – and the questions will be picked from the audience by Tom Brokaw – along with some of his questions – wonder how this will turn out – wish we had a prowl on that one -

War is Peace refers to to the fact that while a country is at war, it can get away with murder on the home front, on the pretext of “rooting out traitors.” A good example of this is the Espionage Act passed by Congress and signed by Woodrow Wilson in 1917, which had little to do with spies, and a lot to do with allowing the feds to round up anyone who criticized the Government’s actions during a war. (Fun trivia fact: Since the United States has officially been in a state of emergency since the Korean War, the Act is still in force).
Freedom is Slavery means that you are supposed to treat your supposedly natural rights as privileges that you need to constantly earn. For instance, in the United States, convicted felons are not allowed to vote, even after they have been released from jail.

Ignorance is Power means that as long as you believe what you are told, the state has the power to justify whatever it wants. Example: in 1998, Clinton ordered tomahawk missles to be fired at a Sudanese Pharmaceutical plant. His rationale was that it was being used to construct bio-weapons. Six months later, the government quietly admitted that it had no conclusive evidence of this.
