I was searching the intertoobz for pictures of Rezko’s slum buildings — you know, the ones that he received ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS from Illinois’ and American taxpayers (the rolling rivers of cash guided into his back account with a little help from his friend Barack Obama) to rebuild — and NEVER DID??
Yeah, those ones. It’s funny — if I want to find pictures of slums in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, or Miami all I have to do is type: “urban decay” into The Google and, voila! All SORTS of discouraging images pop up. But go ahead and try to find images of “rezko buildings,” or “chicago south side,” all of the images have been SCRUBBED. Gone. Go back in the archives of No Quarter and look what happened to the images that used to be there. GONE.
Kind of reminds me of this story from this morning. Couldn’t happen here, right?
That little story out of Saint Louis two weeks ago was no canary in the coal mine, right? Truth Squads prosecuting political speech is nothing to worry about!

Has anyone ever been to the South Side of Chicago ??? I have – many times . The residents there have been surviving in sub-standard conditions for years . There are no jobs , crime is rampant , and the housing conditions are so poor it is a complimentary exaggeration to call them slums. The word ‘projects’ indicates a work in progress , but on the Chicago’s south side it takes on a different meaning – a stagnant , decaying slum . 11 of these deplorable buildings on the south side are owned by Obama’s friend Tony Rezco.
Obama funneled State money to Rezco to ” improve conditions in those buildings ‘ – never happened.
Obama also funneled $100,000 for a ‘ let them eat cake’ gazebo on the south side . The gazebo was never built even though I am sure that those families who are living in falling down buildings in crime infested neighborhoods were really hoping for a freaking gazeebo .Sen. Obama handed his wife’s employer a 1 million dollar earmark . He requested 3 million to update a projector at the Sky Theater . Trinity Church and Rev. Pfleger benifited from the 100 million dollars Obama doled out for the Annenberg Challenge which was SUPPOSED to have been used to help the failing public school system . Some of the programs Obama turned down for grants were : The Chicago Algebra project , and The District 5 Math Initiative – both are worthy projects that the public school system desperatly needed to finance . Meanwhile , Obama’s buddies , and radical groups received millions .
When you go to vote this year , I would encourage you to check out the South Side of Chicago , Obama’s own Senate district . See what “Change” Obama has brought to his own district . Take a look at how his ‘leadership’ has ‘improved’ his own community , and then ask yourself , ” If Senator Obama doesn’t care about his own community, what will he do for me ?”

One of the biggest things that needs to be done is that they(McCain, etc.) need to do with Ayres and friends is not just that Obama’s associations are bad but how they continue and how specifically these connects are related to Obama….people need it very simply packaged and specific details….I keep getting comments from undecideds like “Well what does that have to do with him? I’ve been friends in the past with murders. So what does that have to do with him now?” and “Well if it is true then why aren’t they reporting on it on the regular news….It’s all just a bunch of rumors and if they have facts to back it up why isn’t it being reported?”….. and the idea of msm being in the tank for Obama doesn’t wash with most.

Ayers is as relevant today to Obama as he was over 20 years ago. They go back to Obama’s Columbia days. You keep drinking the Obama Koolaid. Here’s some tidbits:
In 1985 the Woods foundation gave a $25,000 grant to the Developing Communities Project (aka the “DCP”), which hired Obama, at 24, as an organizer on Chicago’s economically depressed South Side.” The Woods Fund was founded by the Woods family which owned the Illinois-based Sahara Coal Company, a major supplier of coal from its mines to major Illinois power companies. Commonwealth Edison, the giant Chicago-based electric power company was headed by Thomas Ayers, father of Bill Ayers.
Ayers’ wife, Bernadette Dorn in the late 80s worked in the law firm Sidley & Austin at the same time as Michelle Obama (then Robinson). In 1989 Obama interned at Sidley&Austen as an associate. (Sidley&Austin was also the law firm used by Tom Ayers, Bill’s father).
So, in 1995 Ayers hires Obama , supposedly unknown to him, 3 years out of law school, to Chair the $50 Million Annenberg Challenge, an education non-profit. The Challenge was an arm of Ayers Chicago School Reform Collaborative. The money was to be used by Ayers and co. to bolster the radical Local School Councils reform project that Ayers and Obama had championed back in 1988 through the ABCs.
The Annenberg Challenge was a failure. Obama stepped down as chair in 1999, but remained on the board. However, during the time with the Challenge, Ayers and Obama sat on panels together , attended speaking engagements, etc.
Obama and Ayers were also on the board of the Woods Fund. A few of the grants from the Woods Fund were provided to the Arab American Action Network(AAAN). The AAAN was headed by Rashid Khalidi . Khalidi previously worked for the PLO and hosted a fund raiser for Obama’s US Senate bid. They went out to dinner , with their wives, together and Michelle Obama attended a party some months ago in honor of the wedding of Khalidi’s daughter. The Bill Ayers’ were also in attendance.
Khalidi said he supports Obama for President “ because he is the only candidate who has expressed sympathy for the Palestinian cause.” Khalidi also lauded Obama for “saying he supports talks with Iran.”

In 2006 Professor Gloria Ladson-Billings of the University of Wisconsin, the then president of the American Education Research Association (AERA), the nation’s leading School of Education professional association, proposed a new policy to tackle the problems of America’s public schools: the repayment of centuries of “education debt” that allegedly is owed to people of color as a result of slavery and discrimination. She rooted the concept in the literature supporting reparations for slavery.
In 2007 Linda Darling-Hammond, a prominent and respected professor at the Stanford University School of Education, endorsed the same idea in an article in The Nation. In late 2007 Darling-Hammond was named an education advisor to the Obama campaign. In February 2008 Darling-Hammond issued a blueprint for education reform by the next President that set as its #1 priority the repayment of the “education debt,” as proposed originally by Ladson-Billings.
Bill Ayers has endorsed the idea of repayment of the “education debt.” Ayers is now a Vice President-elect (Division B: Curriculum Studies) of the AERA.
A chapter called “Education for Democracy” by Darling-Hammond appeared in a volume co-edited by Ayers called A Light in Dark Times. A chapter co-authored by Ladson-Billings on “racing justice” appeared in a book co-edited by Ayers called Teaching for Social Justice: A Democracy and Education Reader. Ladson-Billings wrote the foreword to Ayers’ book, To Teach: The Journey of a Teacher. Ayers and Ladson-Billings are co-editors of City Kids, City Schools: More Reports from the Front Row just published.

He was not speaking of the investment/banking/mortgage crisis that have fallen apart because of regulations that were not put into place because of democratic opposition and thievery. On the economic side do you think adding the trillions of dollars O wants to use for govt programs to the current crisis will move our nation forward? It feels like a deeper hole to me. For more than five weeks during the brutal winter of 1997, tenants shivered without heat in a government-subsidized apartment building on Chicago’s South Side.

Rezmar kept getting city and state funding, even as earlier projects fell into disrepair and financial troubles.

But their company, Rezmar Corp., did come up with $1,000 to give to the political campaign fund of Barack Obama, the newly elected state senator whose district included the unheated building.
Obama has been friends with Rezko for 17 years. Rezko has been a political patron to Obama and many others, helping to raise millions of dollars for them through his own contributions and by hosting fund-raisers in his home.
Obama, who has worked as a lawyer and a legislator to improve living conditions for the poor, took campaign donations from Rezko even as Rezko’s low-income housing empire was collapsing, leaving many African-American families in buildings riddled with problems — including squalid living conditions, vacant apartments, lack of heat, squatters and drug dealers.
The building in Englewood was one of 30 Rezmar rehabbed in a series of troubled deals largely financed by taxpayers. Every project ran into financial difficulty. More than half went into foreclosure, a Chicago Sun-Times investigation has found.
“Their buildings were falling apart,” said a former city official. “They just didn’t pay attention to the condition of these buildings.”
Eleven of Rezko’s buildings were in Obama’s state Senate district.
Obama, now a U.S. senator running for president, has come under fire over his friendship with Rezko, who was charged last fall with demanding kickbacks on state business deals under Gov. Blagojevich.
Much of the criticism has centered on two real estate deals involving Obama’s South Side mansion. In the first, Obama paid $300,000 less than the asking price for a doctor’s home, while Rezko’s wife paid the doctor full price for the vacant lot next door. Then — a few months before Rezko was indicted — Obama bought part of that lot from Rezko’s wife.
But Obama’s ties with Rezko go beyond those two real estate sales and the political support, the Sun-Times found. Obama was an attorney with a small Chicago law firm — Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland — that helped Rezmar get more than $43 million in government funding to rehab 15 of their 30 apartment buildings for the poor.

Just what legal work — and how much — Obama did on those deals is unknown. His campaign staff acknowledges he worked on some of them. But the Rezmar-related work amounted to just five hours over the six years it said Obama was affiliated with the law firm, the staff said in an e-mail in February.
Obama, however, was associated with the firm for more than nine years, his staff acknowledged Sunday in an e-mail response to questions submitted March 14 by the Sun-Times. They didn’t say what deals he worked on — or how much work he did.
“The senator, relatively inexperienced in this kind of work, was assigned to tasks appropriate for a junior lawyer,” according to an e-mail from Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs. “These tasks would have included reviewing documents, collecting corporate organizational documents, and drafting corporate resolutions.”
In fact, Gibbs wrote, “Senator Obama does not remember having conversations with Tony Rezko about properties that he owned or any specific issues related to those properties.”
Rezko and Mahru had no construction experience when they created Rezmar in 1989 to rehabilitate apartments for the poor under the Daley administration. Between 1989 and 1998, Rezmar made deals to rehab 30 buildings, a total of 1,025 apartments. The last 15 buildings involved Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland during Obama’s time with the firm.
Rezko and Mahru also managed the buildings, which were supposed to provide homes for poor people for 30 years. Every one of the projects ran into trouble:
•Seventeen buildings — many beset with code violations, including a lack of heat — ended up in foreclosure.
Six buildings are currently boarded up.
• Hundreds of the apartments are vacant, in need of major repairs.
• Taxpayers have been stuck with millions in unpaid loans.
• At least a dozen times, the city of Chicago sued Rezmar for failure to heat buildings.
For five weeks, the Sun-Times sought to interview Obama about Rezko and the housing deals. His staff wanted written questions. It responded Sunday but left many questions unanswered. Other answers didn’t directly address the question.
Among these: When did Obama learn of Rezmar’s financial problems? “The senator had no special knowledge of any financial problems,” Gibbs wrote.
Did the senator ever complain to anyone — government officials, Rezmar or Rezko — about the conditions of Rezmar’s buildings? “Senator Obama did follow up on constituency complaints about housing as [a] matter of routine,” Gibbs wrote.
Did the senator ever discuss Rezmar’s financial problems with anyone at his law firm? “The firm advises us that it [is] unaware of any such conversations,” Gibbs wrote.
Turns down Rezmar job
Obama’s friendship with Rezko began with a telephone call.
It was 17 years ago. Obama had just become the first black president of the Harvard Law Review. Newspapers wrote about him. One story caught the eye of David Brint, a vice president of Rezmar, a new company that had become the Daley administration’s favored developer of low-income housing.

I have about 75 small round stickers that say “McCain —Leadership” that I’m going to use to stick those flyers up everywhere. When you go through the drive thru @ the bank you can stick them under the tube chute or @ fast food stick them under the speaker when you’re ordering or stick them under the buttons on drive thru ATM’s. Until someone comes out to clean or do maintenance, they will be hanging there for everyone to read while they are waiting for service.
Also, they can be tri-folded and rolled up in toilet paper rolls in public restrooms….hey, it’s a public service. Some people need something to read there

prplvette said she will send some suggestions later. Some ways to reach a lot of people without being noticed is to leave flyers laying around throughout WalMart, Target, Home Depot, Grocery Stores, libraries, etc.
My favorite from prplvette is that she tapes them on the inside doors of bathroom stalls everywhere she goes. Just think of that. That would be fantastic at any huge event like a festival or car show or whatever. I think those port-a-potties are nasty, but to go in just long enough to put a flyer up is ideal.

Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness.” Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control.
Those so identified are separated from the rest of the people by:
Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill off one another.
Placing them in concentration camps, and/or structuring an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.
Seducing them into a socioeconomic class system which, while training them to earn more dollars, hypnotizes them into believing they are better than others and teaches them to think in terms of “we” and “they” instead of “us.”
So, while it is permissible to chase “middleclassness” with all our might, we must avoid the third separation method – the psychological entrapment of Black “middleclassness.” If we avoid this snare, we will also diminish our “voluntary” contributions to methods A and B. And more importantly, Black people no longer will be deprived of their birthright: the leadership, resourcefulness and example of their own talented persons.

Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions.

I looked up this Michael Deane and found that he produces commercials for Direct TV…since we have been customers of theirs for almost ll years, I called their PR department.
I read the letter sent to Murphy to their director.
He was not happy. He called Deane “a vicious, ugly sort of guy” and “this guy is not someone we want to represent our company”.
He is going to their Advertising Department to notify them of Deane’s actions.

I live in a resort area – Motel lobbies usually have “where to go, what to see” racks. You can fold the flyer in half and they will fit.
Also, several of our gas stations have ice freezers outside – I put flyers in there.
Department store dressing rooms. Elevators. If you live near and Interstate with a rest stop near by, or have a Welcome Center in your town, they too have information racks where flyers can be added.

I went to see Bill interviewed at the 92nd St Y in Manhattan a week or so ago. During his talk he voiced support for Obama. (Made my stomach turn). After he did so, he put his head down and was silent for a few seconds. Later on he also praised McCain, cautiously. When he talked about McCain he sounded more like his old self.
Afterwards, I happened to make a chance comment to a guy standing around the building’s side exit. I asked him if he’d seen Bill leave the building. He said he works for Bill Turned out the guy was press for Bill.
I told him it makes me crazy to hear Bill support BO. Asked him “Why does he do that after all they’ve done to Bill – calling him a racist, etc.?!!! The guy nodded. Didn’t say much, seemed to agree with me….at the end, he said “Hillary’s done more than any other former candidate to support Obama, yet still if Obama loses they’re going to blame the Clintons.”
It makes me so angry and frustrated….But still, I just wish SOMEONE would step up in the Democratic Party and STOP THIS CRAP! It’s getting harder and harder to make excuses for Democrats. As far as that connection of McCain with the Keating 5, it’s nothing. I checked it out from several sources and the Democratic Prosecutor, after the investigation, told the committee McCain was innocent and should be dropped as part of the Keating 5. But the committee, wouldn’t do it, because the other 4 were all Democrats. Although the Dems didn’t drop him, McCain and Glenn were found innocent. The Democratic Prosecutor was on CNN last month and said McCain was innocent.
Also if they have Brian Williams going to great lengths to find one of McCain’s captors from POW camp, you can tell they’re reaching for anything. Isn’t that called “Swiftboating” same as Kerry was?
With Obama’s ties to Ayers, Rezko, etc., they are NOT smears because that is the truth.

Tonight will be a big test of self discipline for Barack Obama. After claiming this would be a campaign of issues and a higher ground of moral character, John McCain has allowed his disdain for Obama to enter the arena.
McCain has shown his true Rovian colors by allowing his easily led and empty skirt running mate attempt to trash the reputation of a fellow Senator. At 72, McCain feels he has nothing to lose and a scorched earth policy on Obama will only rile a rabid base that might salvage his efforts to become the next President.
Palin has no clue what she is saying or what she is doing. She’s willing to be a political whore at any price. The test for Obama is to remain strong in the face of such scurrilous attacks and false accusations. This is a man who has repeatedly taken the high road and kept his stride with the American people who demand more from their leaders. McCain is proving to be nothing more than inside the beltway trash. He is everything America doesn’t need or want.
Last night on Larry King, Oliver Stone described McCain as a “war monger”. Where have I heard that before?

Distributing Flyers in the Community:
One of the best ways to get to know your community and the small businesspeople who are still left in it, is to distribute your flyers at stores, restaurants, convenience stores, laundromats, etc.
Distributing Flyers in the Streets:
One of the easiest ways to “get your feet wet” is distributing flyers at events, parades, etc., interacting with the public in a non threatening way.
Rule One: Never distribute flyers alone. Always go in pairs. This is for safety, and for practical reasons
Rule Two: Blend in with the community in your appearance and demeanor. If the community you are targeting is a college campus, send your young, college age members, dressed accordingly. If the community is working class, don’t wear a suit. Be clean, friendly, non confrontational, and smile like you’re having fun!
Rule Three: Position yourself to hand out the maximum number of flyers with a minimum of disturbance. Don’t block sidewalks, stay to the side. Hold the flyer out, let folks take it. However, you need to decide in advance, what action(s) you want to take if confronted by the police, who may, or may not know or care, you have First Amendment rights. You must also be prepared (bail) for a judge that does not recognize your rights

If not, it’s up to you to decide what is more important, handing out the flyers (simply by moving elsewhere) or making a 1st Amendment stand.

Flyers: last time I got a hundred of them. I brought to the grocery store with me and put in the shopping carts in the aisles, out in the parking lot etc.
I park in the parking garage where BO’s headquarters are in downtown Chicago. I took a bunch with me and put on windshields of cars that were there in the mornng when I got in. I get there really early so not too many people walking around.
I stick them up on bulletin boards at the grocery, activity centers, fitness center etc., wherever I see a board. If I am out drving at night I stick them in mail boxes. I live rural so the boxes are at the ends of driveways.
I stick them in any pre-paid envelope I can find. It is so much fun!!

I have 25 years experience in social service, I am a juris doctorate (depaul in chicago), I left feminist movement because women were worse than the men ( I KNOW ALL THE PLAYERS and they can kiss my arse except for a handful), and I have worked for social, gender, and racial equality my whole life. The majority of my friends are NOT WHITE….that being said what is happening is the end result of the hypocrisy we have been living but I still CANNOT believe that when faced with the choice people still appear to be choosing PRETTY DEADLY LIES over HARD TRUTH.
I don’t know if I believe in God, but I do pray. I have not stopped praying for over a year. I am scared, and I do not scare easy. I may not have the answer, but I know the devil when I see him and NOBAMA and ANYONE SUPPORTING him is the enemy, and we must attack, defeat, and OVERCOME as if this were a war because it IS A WAR!! Right vs. Wrong has come home, and this year may be one of the last where that choice is available to us….right may disappear entirely if we do not choose HER now!!

I whole heartedly agree with you. There is NO excuse to warrant the betrayal Hillary has shown for her 18 million voters. I worked on her campaign, I voted for Bill and supported him even during the Lewinsky scandal. There is one word that comes to mind for what Hillary and Bill are doing to help out a man neither of them believe to be qualified or ready to lead this country. That word starts with a P and ends with a P. I will never see Hillary in the same eyes ever again. I did not support and work for her to get elected because she was a woman like myself.
