No doubt about it, Sarah Palin proved last night that she is more than capable of representing the citizens of the United States as our Vice President.
She was not only confident and in command of her facts, she removed the shadow of doubt about her abilities that Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric, Tina Fey and Andrea Mitchell, et. al., worked so hard to place over her candidacy — and she did it with extraordinary grace.
What They’re Saying About Governor Sarah Palin on Wash U. Debate: Volume 2
“She Killed. It Was Her Evening. … 15 Minutes In, She Had Joe Biden On The Defensive On The Subject Of Obama And Taxes. … She Killed”
The Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan: “She killed. It was her evening. She was the star. She had him at, ‘Nice to meet you. Hey, can I call you Joe?’ It was very interesting to me, for Palin tonight, for an hour and a half, I think America saw her for a really long time, and she became a star probably on a new level. Gwen Ifill was not there for Sarah Palin. Joe Biden was not there for Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin was there with a camera. It was classic go over the heads of the media and everybody else, talk straight to the American people. She hit every populist chord. It is amazing to me that 15 minutes in, she had Joe Biden on the defensive on the subject of Obama and taxes. … She killed.” (NBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)
NBC’s Tom Brokaw: “I think they’re whopping it up in Alaska tonight and all those parties across the country for the McCain campaign because I thought in terms of theatrics and personal style out there, you can see why she’s such a successful politician in Alaska. … And any question asked of her, she talked about John McCain’s tax cuts, his record as a maverick, about his determination to reform what is going on and about energy independence. She had been called, as you know, the bumper sticker is coldest state, hottest governor. You saw some of that tonight.” (NBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)
“I Wanted My Granddaughters To Be Able To Look At This Debate … I Wanted Them To Look At This Debate And See That A Woman Could Go Toe To Toe With Someone Who Has Had Tremendous Experience”
1984 Democrat Vice Presidential Nominee Geraldine Ferraro: “I really wanted her to get up there and do a good job, and I think she did. … I think it was a good evening for — certainly for Governor Palin. … I think she showed she is certainly capable of going toe to toe with a man who is more than qualified to be vice president, if not president of the United States.” (NBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)
Ferraro: “The thing about it is she held her own, and that for me, from a historic viewpoint, I wanted my granddaughters to be able to look at this debate — I hope they’re in bed right now. I wanted them to look at this debate and see that a woman could go toe to toe with someone who has had tremendous experience in the Senate and someone who is an incredible candidate for vice president of the United States. That to me is very very important.” (NBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)
MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: “I think she’s an extremely appealing politician. Her energy level was much better than Biden’s. I think Biden lost a little speed there during the evening. I think she came across terrific in terms of presentation.” (MSNBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate,” 10/2/08)
ABC’s Diane Sawyer: “On the first go, you’re right, I thought that Governor Palin, after a bruising time in the media, showed up not just with confidence, but cheerful confidence that might surprise a lot of people, talking about her personal issues …” (ABC’s “Vice Presidential Debate,” 10/2/08)
“Sarah Palin Was Sensational Tonight … I Think She Wiped Up The Floor With Joe Biden”
The Associated Press’ Jim Kuhnhenn: “Under intense scrutiny, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin stood her ground Thursday night against a vastly more experienced Joe Biden, debating the economy, energy and global warming, then challenging him on Iraq, ‘especially with your son in the National Guard.’” (Jim Kuhnhenn, “Palin Stands Her Ground In VP Debate With Biden,” The Associated Press, 10/2/08)
Kuhnhenn: “The Alaska governor also noted that Biden had once said Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama wasn’t ready to be commander in chief, ‘and I know again that you opposed the move that he made to try to cut off funding for the troops and I respect you for that.’” (Jim Kuhnhenn, “Palin Stands Her Ground In VP Debate With Biden,” The Associated Press, 10/2/08)
CNN’s David Gergen: “She was spirited, she came out well, she came out strong.” (CNN’s “Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)
MSNBC’s Pat Buchanan: “My take is Sarah Palin was sensational tonight. She not only met the expectations, I think she wiped up the floor with Joe Biden, quite frankly. She is personable, she is young, she’s got a sense of humor…I think that she has done a sensational job and I think she as recaptured that magic she had out there at the convention.” (MSNBC’s “Countdown With Keith Olbermann,” 10/2/08)
The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder: “She was most effective when she argued against Barack Obama …” (Marc Ambinder, “Palin-Biden: First Take,” The Atlantic’s “Marc Ambinder” Blog, marcambinder.theatlantic.com, 10/2/08)
The New York Times’ Bill Kristol: “It was match point against Sarah Palin and she won the set and she kept the race alive.” (Bill Kristol, Fox, On The Record, 10/2/08)
National Review’s Ramesh Ponnuru: “Biden had a good start, but Palin was exceptionally strong.” (Ramesh Ponnuru, “The Opening,” National Review’s “The Corner” Blog, corner.nationalreview.com, 10/2/08)
The New York Times’ Peter Baker: “If the debate was the defining test this fall of Sarah Palin, she emerged from it largely unscathed.” (Peter Baker, “Live Blog: St. Louis Showdown,” The New York Times’ “The Caucus” Blog, thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com, 10/2/08)
Baker: “[S]he came across as a forceful, articulate and well-prepared candidate, able to go toe to toe with an opponent who has been debating on the floor of the United States Senate for the past 36 years. She may not have had any breakthrough moments but she never stumbled in response to any “gotcha” questions and Joe Biden largely focused his attacks on John McCain, not her.” (Peter Baker, “Live Blog: St. Louis Showdown,” The New York Times’ “The Caucus” Blog, thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com, 10/2/08)
Baker: “But she was aggressive and kept on the offense. Mr. Biden never seemed to rattle her. To be sure, he had some strong moments where he may have gotten the better of the argument on points, but she had a parry for every thrust…” (Peter Baker, “Live Blog: St. Louis Showdown,” The New York Times’ “The Caucus” Blog, thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com, 10/2/08)
CNN’s Bill Schneider: “Palin is going after Biden over his comments that the wealthy should pay more taxes as a patriotic move. The Alaska governor has come to this debate fully armed.” (Bill Schneider, “Attack, Counter Attack,” CNN’s “Political Ticker” Blog, politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com, 10/2/08)
NBC’s Chuck Todd: “Governor Palin proved very adept at being a good debater. … In many ways, she was a better surrogate for her top of the ticket than Joe Biden was for his. … Governor Palin started this debate very strongly, I think.” (NBC’s “Vice Presidential Debate Coverage,” 10/2/08)
The Weekly Standard’s Fred Barnes: “The moment in this debate when she knew how well she was doing, and was actually winning the debate came at 9:55 eastern daylight time and she said to Gwen Ifill the moderator, “can we talk about Pakistan, or rather can we talk about Afghanistan for a minute?”. In other words she wanted to go back to one of these foreign policy issues. She knew that she passed the test that she could handle Joe Biden, and it was all about her as Mort said, and Bill said. This was not a debate where Joe Biden had to do much of anything, it was entirely a test of Sarah Palin, and she passed it.” (Fred Barnes, Fox, On The Record, 10/2/08)
The Politico’s Jonathan Martin: “She’s sticking to her broader message, not getting caught up in a back-and-forth on policy that she can’t win with Biden. it’s all about energy, energy, energy.” (Jonathan Martin, “Palin Doesn’t Care What The Topic/Discussion Is (Cont.)” The Politico’s “Jonathan Martin” Blog, http://www.politico.com, 10/2/08)
CNN’s Bill Schneider: “Palin’s primary strength is her outside of Washington status. She doesn’t act like an insider, she doesn’t talk like an insider, and a lot of voters may respond to that.” (Bill Schneider, “Palin’s Strengths,” CNN’s “Political Ticker” Blog, politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com, 10/2/08)
The Hill’s Walter Alarkon: “One theme Palin keeps hitting tonight is the idea that Biden and Obama are looking backward. After a riff by Biden on how McCain’s policies are the same as President Bush’s, Palin pounces. ‘Say it ain’t so, Joe,’ she said. ‘There you go again, pointing backwards. Now doggone it, let’s look again and tell Americans what we plan to do for Americans in the future.’” (Walter Alarkon, “Liveblog: The Veep Debate” The Hill’s “Briefing Room” Blog, briefingroom.thehill.com, 10/2/08)
ABC’s Rick Klein: “We knew this was coming — attacking Obama by using Biden’s own words. And the rest of the answer — ‘we’re getting closer and closer to victory, and it would be a travesty’ to quit now — was very well put. ‘Your plan is a white flag of surrender in Iraq,’ she said.” (Rick Klein, “Live Debate” Blog, blogs.abcnews.com, 10/2/08)
In summer 2oo7 Obama is on record wanting to MOVE troops from Iraq to “the real battlefield in Pakistan and Afganistan.” This was around when he was getting burned in effigy in Pkistan. See ironmyvote.com
Good Morning. for the first time since May, I had a good night’s sleep. Above all, I think she showed, a woman can remain strong in her beliefs, be confident in who she is and show strength, humor and rediness for her task at hand. She talked straight to the American people. I liked that. No Fear….she is a Puma!
OH, damn! My first words of the day on seeing I was 11th.
The thread happened while I was getting my 2nd cup of coffee.
That which we thought , even feared, the MSM has done their “dirty work” aided by the working overtime OBOTS who pad the poll results. The error that Biden won the debate has even crossed the ocean as the following attests. I as certain that you can get the gist of the following which is in French.
“Un débat plutôt à l’avantage du démocrate Biden
- Le démocrate Joe Biden et la républicaine Sarah Palin échangent quelques mots après leur débat télévisé (3/10/2008) – AFP/DON EMMERT -
I had No Idea you are so talented , and in the BEST way !! I am already your #! fan lol
After reading the posts from after I passed out last night , you made me have to break out Najee so it’s a good day
You know you two are just gaining up on me , we all see it, Lilibet is playing favorites cuz you sucked up last nite when you said you could see her all the time in that video and how pretty she was.. well Lilibet she was drunk
Sarah exceeded the expectations of the press, and won hands down. Shame on their bias and now they are trying to not give credit where credit is due.
How can Joe Biden be the winner when he had trouble telling the truth?
AP can’t report the debate results because they were too favorable to Sarah? Here we go again, the downward spiral of the media continues!
• Biden incorrectly said “John McCain voted the exact same way” as Obama on a controversial troop funding bill. The two were actually on opposite sides.
• Biden wrongly claimed that McCain “voted the exact same way” as Obama on the budget bill that contained an increase on singles making as little as $42,000 a year. McCain voted against it. Biden was referring to an amendment that didn’t address taxes at that income level.
• Biden wrongly claimed that McCain had said “he wouldn’t even sit down” with the president of Spain. Actually, McCain didn’t reject a meeting, but simply refused to commit himself one way or the other during an interview.
• Biden defended Obama’s vote against a troop-funding bill, claiming that McCain voted “the exact same way.” As we’ve pointed out before, the squabble refers to a pair of 2007 votes on war funding. Obama voted for a version of the bill that included language calling for withdrawing troops from Iraq. Biden is simply wrong to say that McCain voted against that bill; he was absent and didn’t vote at all. McCain did oppose the bill, and he urged President Bush to veto it. Bush did. Obama then voted against the same bill without withdrawal language. He had voted yes on at least 10 other war funding bills prior to that single 2007 no vote.
• Biden was correct only to the extent that the resolution Obama supported would not by itself have increased taxes; it was a vote on a budget resolution that set revenue and spending targets. But he’s wrong to say McCain voted the same way. The Obama campaign attempted to justify Biden’s remark by pointing to a different vote, on a Senate amendment, that took place March 13. The amendment passed 99-1, with only Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold dissenting. It would have preserved some of Bush’s tax cuts for lower-income people. The vote on the budget resolution in question, however, came in the wee hours of March 14 and was a mostly party-line tally, 51-44, with Obama in favor and McCain not voting.
• Biden and Palin got into a tussle about military recommendations in Afghanistan. However, it is worth noting that McKiernan also said that Afghanistan would need an infusion of American troops “as quickly as possible.”
• Biden claimed that McCain said in a magazine article that he wanted to deregulate the health care industry as the banking industry had been. That’s taking McCain’s words out of context. As we’ve said before, he was talking specifically about his proposal to allow the sale of health insurance across state lines.
• Biden said five times that McCain’s tax plan would give oil companies a “$4 billion tax cut.” As we’ve noted previously, McCain’s plan would cut the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 25 percent — for ALL corporations, not just oil companies. Biden uses a Democratic think tank’s estimate for what the rate change is worth to the five largest U.S. oil companies.
• Biden said that Iraq had an “$80 billion surplus.” The country was once projected to have as much as a $79 billion surplus, but no more. The Iraqis have $29 billion in the bank, and could have $47 billion to $59 billion by the end of the year, as we noted when Obama used the incorrect figure. A $21 billion supplemental spending bill, passed by the Iraqi legislature in August, knocked down the old projection.
• Biden said four times that McCain had voted 20 times against funding alternative energy. However, in analyzing the Obama campaign’s list of votes after the first presidential debate, we found the number was actually 11. In the other instances the Obama-Biden campaign cites, McCain voted not against alternative energy but against mandatory use of alternative energy, or he voted in favor of allowing exemptions from these mandates.
COMPILED LIST OF BIDEN ERRORS by the McCain camp:
1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.
2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.
3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”
4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.
5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.
6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.
7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false
8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska — she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it’s not a windfall profits tax.
9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.
10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation — he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.
11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.
12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.
13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”
14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.
I thought she did a great job , but I think this election is so divisive that no ones minds were changed . My Xo supporting friends just have NOTHING good to say about Palin , and I’m thiniknig , Did we watch the same debate ?????
(((((((Caracal Carrie))))))))) the nicest sister, I love your site, but those video’s just like creep me out beyond belief.. Otherwise it looks really good.
I just spoke to Louie Gohmerts office and I gave them my opinion of Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchinson’s voting for a PORK LADEN Bailout Bill , and I also told him that I am a Disenfranchised PUMA Democrat who is looking for someone with Integrity who can EARN my vote . They told me that Rep. Gohmert was leaning against the bill , and that the more messages he gets before the vote , the better !
Come on , Pumas !!!! Tell them that an EMERGENCY BILL crammed full of pet projects for trains and wooden aarows is unacceptable and WE ARE WATCHING !!!!
CHAMBER OF COMMMERCE IS LOBBYING FOR BAILOUT! WE NEED MORE CALLS, REPEAT YOUR CALLS, MAKE OURSELVES HEARD!
Fight lobbyist influence to pass the bill, aren’t you tired of this sh*t?
Stand up for ourselves, for a new deal, a better deal!
Don’t reward the corruption on wall street
Don’t pay for a plan that economists say may not work
Don’t put all our money into a plan that could fail
Don’t bankrupt America and our future
Spend the extra 150 billion added for pork on energy independence NOW, why wait 10yrs like Obama wants us to do?
#2 KAI, your entire entry just made it over to France. At least my friends at the Cathedrale de Lucon, France will now know the truth. I prefaced your comments with a few of my own concerning the MSM bias.
#29 TexasTigress- Agree none of the Obamabots will be swayed- just like none of us can be swayed back to Obamanation- it is the Independent voters and the fence sitters that we are going after- I think she spoke to a lot of women-and for the BO camp to come out last night and say women weren’t swayed by her? Not the obamafeminists of course- but did they poll others?
I think Sarah did a great job, right on target- polls will be down over the week-end but if the house votes yes today and the focus comes away from the economy- we should see a shift again mid-week.
on a side note, i found this interesting to say the least…
McCain Office Break-In… Computer Stolen Before Speech
Vandals broke into the McCain-Palin Campaign headquarters in Independence Missouri on Thursday before a speech by John McCain at the Independence Truman Library.
KMOV reported on the latest crime against a GOP office.
The Republican Party is tightening security at four Missouri phone banks after a break-in and theft of a laptop at one of the offices.
Police in the Kansas City suburb of Independence said Thursday that a rock was thrown through a window to gain entry to the McCain/Victory Office. A campaign staffer’s laptop and satchel were taken between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The theft took place in the hours before GOP presidential nominee John McCain’s speech Wednesday at the Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, Truman’s hometown.
Missouri Republican Party spokeswoman Tina Hervey said 24-hour security is being established at GOP offices in St. Louis, Independence, St. Charles and Springfield.
“You know what I think of people when they come on “Hardball,” and they look at the camera, I think they’re dolts.”
- Chris Matthews (referring to Palin last night)
He’s the dolt.
In the presidential debate Obama spent a lot of time looking into the camera. Of course, pundits and The NYTimes praised him for it.
Oh , so when I was talking to the lady from Gohmerts office , I could tell she was writing it all down , and when I said I am a Puma Democrat – she goes ,” Does that mean you are a PUMA ?” and I said “Yes , I was disenfranchised by the Democrat Party and I’m looking for someone with integrity to earn my vote .”
Seeeeeee- they know who we are !

FBI raids Obama friend’s home
Andrea Billups (Contact)
The FBI on Wednesday raided the county offices of a former Illinois state senator who is a poker-playing buddy of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.
I personally threw Mike Pence out of the Union Hall when we were having a DEMOCRAT forum for Evan Bayah and Obannon !!!! Pence is an ass , but Go PUMAS !!!
Once again, Obama’s short lived record just doesn’t cut it. He talks the talk, but when push comes to shove he has not walked the walk. Over the past 5 years Illinois has consistently ranked among the bottom of all states in economic growth. Coupled by 6 straight years of fiscal policies identical to those Obama has called for in his campaign, this lack of fiscal constraint has led to a government unable to balance a single budget. It has not worked in Illinois and will not work nationally.
I loved how she corrected Biden on, “Drill, baby, drill.”
I am going to order a tee shirt today with…..
“Say it aint so, Joe.” (my hubby’s name is Joe )
I LOVE Sarah!!!! She is just so down to earth, and speaks her mind. Her smile can light up a room. Even Biden was liking her. I like how Biden’s daughters were surrounding Palin after the debate. This strong Hillary supporter is thrilled to vote for McCain/Palin!!!!!!
I FEEL MUCH BETTER TODAY AFTER THE DEBATE LAST NIGHT. HOPEFULLY THE MAC CAMP WILL JUMP ON THE WAVE AND FIRE IN FULL FORCE!
ABOUT THE BAIL OUT – GUYS – WE NEED TO PASS THIS DAMN BILL AS MUCH AS I HATE IT. AS LONG AS IT LINGERS IT IS DAMAGING TO MCCAIN – EVEN THOUGH HE WAS ON THE ARGUABLE WINNING SIDE OF THE DEBOCLE –
AS LONG AS THIS BILL LINGERS IT’S ABOUT ECONOMY – AS LONG AS IT’S ABOUT ECONOMY, BOZO STAYS AHEAD. THEY ARE GOING TO PASS IT ANYWAYS, WE NEED TO LET THIS ONE GO FOR THE GREATER GOOD OF THIS COUNTRY AND THIS IS TO MAKE SURE BOZO IS NOT ELECTED!
“One of the reasons I feel so good for Sarah Palin, just as a human being,” said former Sen. Fred Thompson, “is I have never seen anybody undergo the ridicule, the slanders and the lies, and the blogosphere and what they’re doing, and breaking into her private e-mail, rumors and things about her, and now, most recently, belittling her, taking little snippets of interviews and laughing at her and satirizing her.
Those people ought to be ashamed of themselves, if they’re capable of shame, because they’ve proven that what they were doing does not represent who she was and who she is. Thank goodness, just as she said, that this was an unfiltered event for an hour and a half. She could stand toe-to-toe with Joe Biden, who’s been around for all these many, many years, and basically take him to the woodshed.”
FINALLY, MC has remembered us. Mc and Palin coming to NC. I guess they pulled out of MI and are coming here. He needs to, he is losing! Not only because of the AA/Youth vote but many reps are turning away, giving up on him.
Finally!
This election is being played so ugly that it is so easy to see what Hillary went through plus more with John MCCain. It seems to be the days of the gangsters when you steal from or torch an opposing gang’s place of business. You have homeless folks being brought to voting places which alleviates their choice to vote as they wish, ACORN is running rapid, felons are voting and nothing is being done about these things. Our American standards have been lowered to a level of balant corruption. Shameful.
BS!
*************************
Biden teared up cuz it worked so well for him at the convention, the touching moment the family had. Remember thats all they talked about the next day.
HOUSTON PUMAS _ Sheila Jackson lee is supporting the Bill – Call her now ! tell her Not to shove pork down our throats and tell us it’s an emergency !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TELL HER YOU ARE A PUMA ! SHE IS DEPENDING ON US !
I am not posting TexasT cuz i am busy calling…no one is there for me to talk to though, i’m just leaving messages with people answering the phone I don’t know if they will get the message in time
Does anyone else think that the Dem’s are really more interested in prolonging the financial crisis than they are in solving it, because it has given a boost to Barack “W2″ Obama?
Mimi–I agree with you, I’m not completely for it and at the same time I don’t think it will get any better; if it lingers it will give Nancy and company an opportunity to rework it to their advanatage.
Loved Sara last night she is so real, funny, and full of spunk. Say it ain’t so Joe. Claire McKaskill , hope that is spelled right, is truly a Obie cheerleader with stepford women tendacies.
Every call makes a difference. Let me quote Sen. Bob Bennett: “I think the determinative factor in the House of Representatives will be the phone calls.”

I’ve been very torn over this issue. But after reading this email from a friend, I’m on board to KILL THE BILL!
“All of this would be bad enough. But by far the most terrifying item I read in my morning paper last week was this: Mr. Paulson demanded that Congress forbid judicial review of his decisions on use of the money in the mortgage bailout. This would amount to an abrogation of the Constitution. Not only would his decisions be sacrosanct and above the law, but so would the actions of his pals in the banking world in connection with this bailout.
The idea that Paulson, et. al., would be ‘above the law’ in this is beyond terrifying, it goes all the way to immoral. And remember, even if you like Paulson & Company come January it could be Raines & Company running the store.
An economy built on credit is fundamentally unsound. Credit is a tool, one which can help to facilitate and economy, but when it becomes the foundation of the economy there’s a serious problem.”
Sheila jackson lee was a Hillary supporter . Hillary is going to a fund raiser for her – she needs pumas !!! Call her and let her know your a PUMA and where you stand !
Morning Pumas – same subject again for me – polls that no one believes in – have gone into each individual States polls via newspapers as well as Rasmussen for the following:
Nationally 51-BO – 44 MC
Kentucky – 52-42 McCain – both women and men go for Mc
Nebraska 56-37 McCain – both women and men for him
now here is my question following key states are dropping and women are changing over to BO for some reason how can we reach these women to change their opinions – I have flyers in Spanish for the Hispanics – but what can we do to change the tide – even the comments written on blogs indicate the same as the polls – I know one voice does not a President make – but we can not bury our heads in the sand until election day —
Montana – McCain 52-44 – BUT women give BO 5% higher vote over McCain
North Carolina – BO – 50-47 – 12% women BO over Mc
New Mexico – 49-44 – 17% Hispanic and 10% women BO over McCain
There is a trend that has to stop – any suggestions on what I can do OTHER than not look at the polls -
Thanks

There are lists of smaller newspapers in critical states that Bobram compiled. You could write email directed at women. The reason Bobram chose small readership papers was to better our odds of being published.
I know the Puma PAC Regional Moderators sent email to individual Pumas members who live in those states, as part of a media blitz. That’s one thing that can be done while brainstorming other ideas.
I sent the following emails to Evan Bayh, Visclosky and Lugar
I implore you not to vote for the bail out. It should not be the taxpayers burden to bail out the big corporations and CEO’S that made billions off of unsuspecting first time borrowers. They knowingly gave loans to people that they knew could not keep up the payments or did not qualify. As we speak, there are finance companies and mortgage companies that are giving HUD FHA loans, with no credit, saying alternative credit ok. cell phone bill, utility bill with your name on it. I know this for a fact. I was aphalled when I recieved a business email on the very day you were voting on the first bill. Enough is Enough. All the pork needs to be taken out. I know they are hiding billions of dollars in that bill for ACORN, a community organizing group who commits voter fraud, an who Barack Obama worked for when starting his polical aspirations, and who William Ayers is very much connected to.
I am a PUMA DEM…and we are watching, and we will remember in November. It has to stop this year, this election… at this time.
Thank you,
i still believe whole heartedly, the dems backing Obama have been working on the economic crisis for a long time, it is still funny to me it is occuring right before the election, i dont care what anyone says, because they want the white house so badly they will risk their citizens in order to win it
please read the link and you will know what i mean
SLY, sorry to burst your bubble, but I hadn’t even seen TEXAS’S comments before I said it was a camel, which, of course, it is. But there will be no “in the corner” moments for you today unless you come up with some scurrilous comments.
“…the issue here isn’t guilt by association; it’s guilt by participation. As CAC chairman, Mr. Obama was lending moral and financial support to Mr. Ayers and his radical circle. That is a story even if Mr. Ayers had never planted a single bomb 40 years ago.”
Ok , keep the pressure up !!!!!!!!!!! She went from voting YES to , now she is holding off on deciding !!!!!
Please keep calling !!!!!
Doesn’t matter where you are from – call
When Plouffe tole Bill Hemmer that according to the polls Biden won the debates BIG TIME, Bill asked him what his sources were, he said NBC and CNN. Bill smiled and told him “He was free to choose his sources”.
Bill Hemmer is now back in my good graces. When he left CNN for FOX I was more distressed than when Greta did the same thing. Now, I love the fact that they are both on FOX. I may still not agree aith all the politics of Fox, but Bill and Greta are certainly two of best human beings in America.
ALERT: The house IS going to vote on the bailout. That means that they are fairly confident that the Bill will pass. However, it could still fail, after the 90 minute debate.
Before I left home to come to work I heard Dennis Kucinich on C-Span speak about the 90 year old lady who shot herself when Sheriff deputies were to give her a foreclosure notice yesterday.
A pin could drop in congress chambers when he spoke. I had goosebumps from his speaking. He spoke of the predator lenders who targeted her.
This is what our country has become due to corruption in Washington. It’s time for the “good ole boys club” to go home.
We need McCain and Palin in the White House. They together will clean up Washington!
I feel as long as this bill is in the news, BHO wins. We need to get this reseolved and out of the news. They will get it in the end, they always do. The only way to change anything is to keep BHO out of the Oval Office.
#112 Dances with Pumas – have been sending letters to the editors and feedback and comments under every political article in the newspapers that I can – I think I probably have accounts for 40 newspapers or more right now – there has to be a mass way that we can get the womens attention – like Murphys idea and will do that today..
I just saw the following on an Obot website written by someone whose research has been very sloppy in the past. It says the House will vote on bailout today. I think this is the senate bill that already passed, but it’s not very clear. Wouldn’t surprise me–everyone is still talking about the debate and they like to spring stuff on Friday news cycle because no one is paying attention on the weekend.
Does anyone have any hard info on this?
Today, the House of Representatives is going to vote again on a bill to bail out Wall Street investment firms – and the overseas investors in countries like China and Saudi Arabia who have funded those firms. You’ve got very little time in which to educate yourself on the new bill and to contact your representative in the House of Representatives, but it’s very important that you do so.
Let me suggest one excellent resource to provide you a very quick education on the weaknesses in the Senate bill that the House will vote on today. Congressman Brad Sherman’s Blue Paper on the legislation is just 7 pages long, but discusses all the following problems:
- Taxpayers highly unlikely to recoup any of the costs under revenue provision added last Sunday
- Treasury will not use the new insurance powers added to the Bill last Sunday
- Tens of billions will go to foreign investors
- Million-Dollar a month salaries will continue
- Oversight Board can critique, not halt, any action
- Few if any homeowners will get mortgage relief
- All $700 billion can be spent by January 20, 2009
- Taxpayers will get little or no equity upside
- Meaningful regulatory reform proposals will be subject to filibuster, delay, and dilution
- We have time to write a good bill
Just talked to Sen. George V. Voinovich (R OH) office he is for the bill. I said be sure to let him know I will not be voting for him in the next election.
oops…sorry mick

vicious yes. It’s just that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was relentlessy abused by the freaks from the first day of her health care hearings when she was First Lady and the biys realized how bruilliant she was. Brilliant creative women in the public limelight are even more of a threat to lackwitted parrots, than your every day bright creative strong women.
Joe Biden was mauled by lipstick wearing pitbull last night. I find out something about factcheck, they’re not reporting facts at all. It was true NObama voted to increase taxes for those making 42K annually. A few days ago I read it how NObama voted for the resolution. I think people shouldn’t rely on factcheck.org owned by Annenberg (NObama chairperson of Annenberg Challenge). I am quite disappointed with factcheck. My suggestion people should look at voting records instead of reading factcheck.
There was one thing never mentioned in that debate, NObama in his first speech at the senate floor supported Bush in Iraq. The speech he delivered arise from the bill Kerry, Clinton and others supported for Bush to set a time table for withdrawal of troops out of Iraq. NObama criticized the plan of Kerry.
Just talked to Sen. George V. Voinovich (R OH) office he is for the bill. I said be sure to let him know I will not be voting for him in the next election.
Anyone who votes in favor of this bill should be sent one of those wooden arrows. No need to tell them what do do with it – they’ll get the message.
Oh, I just called George V. Voinovich’s office in Washington. I told the office girl that I was a democrat whom supported Voinovich throughout his carrer but the vote stops here if he supports this bail out bill.
Just talked to someone at Congresswomen Lee’s office and was told that she is leaning toward NO. She said they are getting alot of call and would pass it on to her. I also let her know that I have donated in the pass and was against this bill. I also told her that I was a Puma. Called all the congressmen in my state of Arizona and the only one who would tell me how they were voting was Trent Franks. He is voting No! He happens to be from my district.

I agree… Murphy’s idea is great!
Have copied the link for the aaaction center, will add to prowls and alerts.

You suck . How ’bout this – tell me when you want me to keep track of this stuff , and when you are going to do it I’m still going to send you an e-mail full of links at the end of the day – that way I wont feel like I’m wasting my time !!!!
I love how they watch the market’s reaction to this bill. I don’t know about you, but I have nothing in their market. They will get their money, let’s keep BHO from winning this election. The corruption under an Obama administration will mAKE THIS LOOK TAME!

wow.
Since I’m at work, I can only pick things up intermitently… like stand alone items. I can’t do any of the actions or prowls from here, so checking in and making use of the few minutes that I’m on, make me feel like I’m doing something to assist in moving us forward and setting Brackis back. I don’t feel as pressured, knowing you are collecting as well.
Called Sheila Jackson Lee’s office and told lady to tell her to vote no on the Bill. I told her I am a PUMADemocrat from Kentucky. She said she would tell Sheila! Growwwwl!
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has informed Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson that the most populous U.S. state may need to turn to the federal government for short-term financing because of a lack of liquidity in credit markets.
California needs $7 billion to cover short-term expenses and has planned to issue revenue anticipation notes for it.
Sent email to my Congressman (who voted against the bailout on Monday) and asked him to said firm against the pressure. Did follow-up call. The gentleman who answered the telephone said they are still debating. I told him about my email and he asked for my email address so he could get the information to my Congressman while he is in the debates.

My e-mail to Fox and Friends:
No doubt about it, Sarah Palin proved last night that she is more than capable of representing the citizens of the United States as our Vice President.
She was not only confident and in command of her facts, she removed the shadow of doubt about her abilities that Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric, Tina Fey and Andrea Mitchell, et. al., worked so hard to place over her candidacy — and she did it with extraordinary grace.
Say it ain’t so, Joe!

Good Morning. for the first time since May, I had a good night’s sleep. Above all, I think she showed, a woman can remain strong in her beliefs, be confident in who she is and show strength, humor and rediness for her task at hand. She talked straight to the American people. I liked that. No Fear….she is a Puma!
i think we floored murphy last night….lol

Au vu des sondages et des commentaires des politologues, Biden est sorti vainqueur du débat avec Palin”

Who won the debate?
Sarah exceeded the expectations of the press, and won hands down. Shame on their bias and now they are trying to not give credit where credit is due.
How can Joe Biden be the winner when he had trouble telling the truth?
AP can’t report the debate results because they were too favorable to Sarah? Here we go again, the downward spiral of the media continues!
AP scrubs its own debate story – too favorable to Palin
http://edgeoforever.wordpress.com/2008/10/03/ap-scrubs-own-story/
TRUTH SQUAD About Joe Biden
This is why I am the nice sister! LOL!
I thought she did a great job , but I think this election is so divisive that no ones minds were changed . My Xo supporting friends just have NOTHING good to say about Palin , and I’m thiniknig , Did we watch the same debate ?????

#29 TexasTigress- Agree none of the Obamabots will be swayed- just like none of us can be swayed back to Obamanation- it is the Independent voters and the fence sitters that we are going after- I think she spoke to a lot of women-and for the BO camp to come out last night and say women weren’t swayed by her? Not the obamafeminists of course- but did they poll others?
I think Sarah did a great job, right on target- polls will be down over the week-end but if the house votes yes today and the focus comes away from the economy- we should see a shift again mid-week.

P.D.S. ALERT

Shameful.

I posted above a list of all of the GOP rep. in the House.
Does anybody have a list of all the Dems.?
Mick in 126 is a list of everyone in every state

Before I left home to come to work I heard Dennis Kucinich on C-Span speak about the 90 year old lady who shot herself when Sheriff deputies were to give her a foreclosure notice yesterday.
A pin could drop in congress chambers when he spoke. I had goosebumps from his speaking. He spoke of the predator lenders who targeted her.
This is what our country has become due to corruption in Washington. It’s time for the “good ole boys club” to go home.
We need McCain and Palin in the White House. They together will clean up Washington!

Point taken.
Although I do believe that there has been a particular viciousness displayed with respect to Sarah Palin and her family.
Calling a Down’s Syndrome child a “retard” and a “mistake that should have been aborted?”
Suggesting that the Palin’s older daughter was impregnated by her father?
Never heard Sandra Bernhard warn any other female politicians that “if they come to NYC they will be gang-raped…”
Perhaps these jackals learned how to tear people apart with their attacks on Hillary, but they have taken it to a whole new, deranged low with Sarah.

I just saw the following on an Obot website written by someone whose research has been very sloppy in the past. It says the House will vote on bailout today. I think this is the senate bill that already passed, but it’s not very clear. #154 Bella-Me – YOU ROCK !

Called my rep. He’s voting against it.
Called Sheila’s office – same answer – she’s “uncertain”.
She’s being surrounded by the pack.
Obama voted to raise taxes on single people, not families or single parents making 42,000. It is till a far cry from 250,000.
