Look at my mind! My BEAUTIFUL Mind!

The Lady of Shalott is a magical being who lives alone on an island upstream from King Arthur’s Camelot. Her business is to look at the world outside her castle window in a mirror, and to weave what she sees into a tapestry. She is forbidden by the magic to look at the outside world directly. The farmers who live near her island hear her singing and know who she is, but never see her.

The Lady sees ordinary people, loving couples, and knights in pairs reflected in her mirror. One day, she sees the reflection of Sir Lancelot riding alone. Although she knows that it is forbidden, she looks out the window at him. The mirror shatters, the tapestry flies off on the wind, and the Lady feels the power of her curse.

An autumn storm suddenly arises. The lady leaves her castle, finds a boat, writes her name on it, gets into the boat, sets it adrift, and sings her death song as she drifts down the river to Camelot. The locals find the boat and the body, realize who she is, and are saddened. Lancelot prays that God will have mercy on her soul.” [source]

Building here on a comment I left at Riverdaughter’s place a little while ago about the bomb Anglachel threw at Riverdaughter. Puma PAC was mere collateral damage in Anglachel’s beautiful mind, as we were always beneath contempt, but the attack on Riverdaughter really sticks in my craw.

In the context of a political battle, the term “ally” is neither a figurative nor a metaphorical term. It’s the real deal meaning of the word. I stand up beside Riverdaughter because SHE CAN’T DO THIS ALONE. She needs our help; just as sure as we need hers.

This political battle INSIDE the Democratic Party is NOT happening in our heads, on paper, or in a virtual reality. It is happening on the ground — in the real world. In parking lots; at rallies; at family gatherings; at voter registration tables; in classrooms; at water coolers etc, etc.

The final battle will take place in the ballot booth on November 4th — the realest place in the world in a Democratic Society.

The intellectuals who want to believe they can guide the direction and outcome of this civil war had better get out of their own theoretical heads and face the troops.

Anglachel claims to know the minds and hearts of the Trumaniacs in the Democratic Party, but she doesn’t seem to like to look at our faces.

With a Ph.D. in political science I believe I could weave a tapestry of thoughtful political insight similar to Anglachel’s in terms of subtlety and complexity. I could read books of history and studies of social behavior and thread their themes into strands of logical beauty, perhaps even with a twist of rhetorical flair. I don’t know, seeing as I do not have a Ph.D. in political science (or in anything else for that matter — still waiting for that college diploma to clear the Accounts Receivable desk at UMass Lowell). But I bet I COULD love the world from a tower. I bet I COULD recreate an image of reality from the fascinating pictures reflected in the books that I love.

Anglachel is a knowledgable person. I’ve read her posts with interest and pleasure — she’s insightful and enlightening, and her writing has helped clarify and frame my own thoughts and convictions.

But honestly? I’ve learned a lot more about what it means to be a Trumaniac from the people here.

  • What’s it like to be a liberal lesbian living in a redneck Texas town? I don’t know — should I ask Anglachel or TexasTigress?
  • What’s it like to be a minority who works her fanny off in a successful business that she founded and whose workforce is comprised almost entirely of minorities from a different culture? I don’t know — should I ask Anglachel or FreddieBrown?
  • What’s it like to be a feminist with a professional career who also happens to be a Hillary supporter and stone, cold blind? I don’t know — should I ask Anglachel or Mary Joe?
  • What’s it like to be an 86 year old grandpa who tracks down media and government contacts with a grandchild on his lap? I don’t know — should I ask Anglachel or Goalucard?
  • What’s it like to be a black man in Washington D.C. who supports Hillary to the bitter end and will NOT vote for Obama?  I don’t know — should I ask Anglachel or Ario?

You get the picture. As I’ve said before many times, I could go on and on.

But I won’t. I’ll follow Heidi Li’s wise advice and try to shift the terms of the debate AND the battle. Rather than defend ourselves against baseless and reckless insults, let’s DO something.

Help get Heidi Li’s ad on the air. If she can raise another $1,000 she’ll be broadcasting THIS AD immediately. Help her out HERE.

And please try to do everything you can from the list on our Daily Update, below.

Meanwhile, a parting image from my un-credentialed mind. This is another portrait of Lady Shalott, one that depicts her AFTER she faced the REAL world and her mirror cracked. She got into a boat and floated down the river with her eyes WIDE OPEN and her fate SEALED. That’s my pal Riverdaughter in that picture.

Read Tennyson’s famous poem about Lady Shalott HERE.

A couple of my casual observations that I have wanted to share:

I think the reason Obama’s speech his full of uhhh’s and ahhh’s is because his platform is full of something else. He has to continually think about what he has said before to avoid being caught in a lie, or more flip flops or inadvertantly revealing something that will bring light to his true feelings on issues.

Second: I think Obama’s presidential symbol looks like a six year old created it. Really cheesy and unprofessional looking.

#5 itbj2 on 10.02.08 at 4:15 pm

WHY IS EVERYBODY SO SAD.

How many times do you have to write off the McCain camp to realize that what really matters who wins the race instead of who is ahead right now.

Trust me McCain will win this in a landslide. What makes me think this?

Well there is no enthusiasm for Obama. Do you really think that if everybody was crazy about Oama that I would have hardly any Obama signs in my entire town. In 2004 you could barley keep from stepping on Kerry signs. There is hardly anything this time around. Democrats don’t care about Obama. They will not come out to vote and if they do they will probably vote for McCain. When it really comes down to it McCain can be trusted and Obama can’t. People vote with their gut not their head. For everyone of us there is 1000s of people who have the same mind set.

Could you imagine not voting for a Democrat 10 months ago. Many of you have never penciled in a republican for any office. So if you are not voting for him you can image how many people there are out there who feel the same way.

Read this post which will shed some light on what is going on with the polls. Plus Obama is still at 48 in Gallup. Which is actually heavily biased.

I agree that McCain must step up to the plate. I do remember that the majority thought he would never even make it as the nominee. So I will continue to do everything I can to make sure Obama does not win.

A Response from DISH Network -

“DISH Network Channel 73 is paid advertising by the Obama campaign and is not an endorsement of Senator Obama by DISH Network. DISH Network made the same offer to the McCain campaign, an offer that remains open.”

McCain giving up on Michigan race

#14 Bella-Me on 10.02.08 at 4:26 pm

McCain knows what he is doing. He was a soldier. He knew when to lay low so the enemy thought they had won and he knew when to strike.

When Obot built his greek stage and had his night of glory the next day it was all forgotten with an announcement of Sarah Palin.

Be patient PUMAs I have confidence McCain knows just when to strike. He hit and jabbed at Obot during his debate and then hit him with a good punch in the end.

He has two more debates to get through. People remember what happens when it is happening….not a week from now or even days from now. McCain will strike when it will count. The bailout has set him back, the vice presidential debate needs to happen and then he will begin his attack. Patience PUMAs, everyday does not need to be a day to battle. Some days just breathe………..enjoy the time to to just sit back and take a breath. Turn off FOX, who cares about Obot on Dish, and get your warm pjs and popcorn ready for a good night of Sarah Palin. :)

I couldn’t agree more.

(I posted this over at Tom in Paine as well. He has a great post today: http://tominpaine.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-democrats-can-bury-obama-see-mccain.html)

In my very liberal neck of the woods, north of San Francisco, I have noticed a conspicuous dearth of lawn signs and bumper stickers for either candidate. In a 30 block radius I have seen one O lawn sign. At the local Whole Foods parking lot I have seen two O bumper stickers in two weeks!

I believe most here will be voting for McCain but don’t want to advertise it for fear of being labeled with either “r” word. If people feel intimidated they keep their cards closer to their chest.

I have and will not be telling lifelong friends or business associates who I intend to vote for — simply too contentious.

This stifling atmosphere is not democratic. I am looking forward to the morning after and the riddance of these cultic bullies.

As far as Anglachel, I don’t like potshots thrown from “high” places regardless. A simple discussion behind the scenes could have cleared the air. We Pumas shan’t get bogged down by pettiness and false innuendoes.

Just sent a fin to Heidi Li’s match fund and I feel fine ;-)

The ‘Bradley effect’ in 2008
Will this year’s election bring us the ‘Obama effect’?

Snip-
The Bradley effect has come to mean this: Voters lie to pollsters about black candidates, and enough of them lie to create a huge gap between poll results and election results. The Bradley effect asserts that when Americans finally get into the voting booth and see the black candidate’s name on the ballot, they flinch.

Snip-
It grieves me to say so, but he may be right. Good polls don’t change bad attitudes. If America 2008 hasn’t changed much from California 1982, by next year pundits will be calling it the “Obama effect.”

Well, here is the email I just got back from Dish Network.

Thank you for your e-mail. We appreciate your comments and concerns regarding the Obama Channel; please understand that the Obama Channel (CH 73) is paid advertising by the Obama campaign and is not an endorsement of Senator Obama by DISH Network, and that the programming offered by DISH Network does not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the corporation.

This space has been purchased similar to any other channel we broadcast, and any other candidate who wishes to purchase a channel through DISH Network will be given the same opportunity. At this time, no other candidates have showed interest in purchasing a channel.

COUPLE OF ALERT ANNOUNCEMENTS

First — it’s crucial we still make calls to let our congressmen know how we feel about the Bailout bill. I left a message letting them know that I want to throw it out and listen to the experts that say all we need is the FDIC increase and reform on the mark to market rules and it won’t cost the taxpayers a cent for those reforms. Demand this NOW!!!!

I called this number (the operator is very helpful in finding the congressman for your district to leave a message) — it is the number for the congress house main switchboard:

1-202-224-3121

Let’s flood them with calls today and tomorrow.

Watch these videos that explain what will be the solution:

Congresswomen Kaptur and Musgrave explain why it’s important to vote no on current bailout bill

Michelle Bachmann also shares the same thoughts

I like your thinking…

Do you really think that if everybody was crazy about Oama that I would have hardly any Obama signs in my entire town.

Now that you bring that up, I have not seen a single Obama sign where I am at . No McCains either (but that is probably because they are afraid to put them out)

Not seeing Obama signs up is a good thing, because we know they are not afraid to put their signs out.

Now we were in the Dallas area a couple of weeks ago and we only saw 2 Obama signs

Maybe their are more supoorting McCain than anyone thinks…..

We all now how the polls are. I mean look at how off they were on Hillary in some of the states…

ANOTHER ALERT

Also view my previous alert at post #32

In regards to the FEC…

I made a call to the FEC information line at 1-202-694-1650

I told them that as a taxpayer and a citizen — I am outraged to see multiple stories that their are illegal donations being made to the Obama camp and the FEC is refusing to investigate. I further explained that the reports indicate that investigations are discouraged this close to election time. I then said harshly, “Why would an investigation be discouraged? As a taxpayer and a citizen — don’t I have a right to know the truth about this candidate? If he’s doing illegal activity — I demand this be investigated BEFORE an election.”

The lady assured me that if I would like to file a complaint to initiate an investigation — I can do so by sending a notarized letter outlining my complaint and the information I have regarding the complaint. She also went on to say that regardless of the reports I am seeing, that I should be aware that if there is an ongoing investigation — they are not allowed to tell me either way or to confirm if there is any investigations… which may account for the reports saying that there is NO investigation.

That explanation aside — I’ve seen the power that the public can do (and especially the power of PUMA’s when they put their efforts into a prowl). So it might be worth our efforts to get rid of Obama once and for all by inundating the FEC office with phone calls and notarized letters of complaints on this issue.

Whaddaya think?

Dittos #527 OrdinaryWoman (from downstairs)

I have posted this concept before for any Ayn Rand fans out there:

We are in dire need of a “John Galt” wake-up call in this country.

For those of you who have not read “Atlas Shrugged” — at the end of the book John Galt takes the National Microphone to explain to the Country just why the folks who are capable of doing things have essentially gone on strike:

Because they are tired of working for greedy, corrupt, tax-everything politicians who have done little, if anything, to contribute to the Nation’s well-being.

They clearly see (and reject) the dysfunction caused by these politician’s principle, “From each according to his ability, TO each according to his need”, which has resulted in a needy, entitled class of do-nothings who are content to feed at the National trough.

In Ayn Rand’s brilliant novel, John Galt’s speech exposes the lying weasel politicians and allows for a renegotiation of the terms under which capable, industrious people will return to work, which saves the Country at the last moment!

Hold this thought tonight:

Sarh Palin = John Galt

Hours ahead of the vice presidential debate, Sen John McCain (R-Ariz.) criticized the selection of PBS’s Gwen Ifill as moderator because she is writing a book called “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.”

“Frankly, I wish they had picked a moderator that isn’t writing a book favorable to Barack Obama — let’s face it,” McCain said on “Fox & Friends.”

#87 Asian4Hillary on 10.02.08 at 5:17 pm

I’ve just read McCain is withdrawing his campaign in Michigan, there’s nothing wrong with that. They’re moving their campaign to other state a must win on November 4. Nobama withdrew his campaign in Georgina, TN, Oklahoma a long time ago, the media did not make a big deal out of me. Why withdrawal in Michigan a big deal now?

C’mon! Cheer up! FOCUS!

McCain and the GOP made the right decision. Smart move on their part. Many people in Michigan who are rooting for McCain will vote for McCain even if he withdrew his TV ad campaign there. States like Hawaii or Alaska, candidates for President don’t go there to campaign, seldom they’ll run an ad campaign but the people still cast their vote who they think is best to lead our great country.

#88 Asian4Hillary on 10.02.08 at 5:17 pm

Good example of that, Reagan ran his campaign ad in Alaska less than a week before general election.

You know, maybe McCain is a PUMA. Think about it:

1. He pays his female staff more than his male staff.
2. He has more females on staff, too.
3. His wife flies planes, races cars and has four kids.
4. His VP flies planes, runs a state and has five kids.
5. He is very close personal friends with Hillary.

Add to all that the following: Because liberals think he too conservative and conservatives think he is too liberal, I think that puts him perfectly in the middle of the road for America. We’ll win some and we’ll lose some. With McCain, we know we’ll be heard and we’ll be respected as much for our differences as for our similarities.

There are quite a few conservative websites out there. The Rep. haven’t quite been sitting on their laurels. You just didn’t see them.

McCain needs to keep his hands clean and not get spattered when the 527’s start firing. “O” already whines about Mac’s commercials and they’re puff ball compared to the 527’s.

Don’t forget the Rep.’s 527 Willie Horton ad…

(I’m reading it now, so don’t know what it says)

Here’s the letter, only posting a little of it:

Revealed: UK ambassador’s verdict on Barack Obama
Posted By: Toby Harnden at Oct 2, 2008 at 21:10:29 [General]
Posted in: Foreign Correspondents

The following is the full text of a July 2008 letter sent by Sir Nigel Sheinwald, British ambassador to the United States, to Gordon Brown, British Prime Minister, shortly before the visit of Senator Barack Obama, then the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, to London.

My news story about the leaked document is here.

BARACK OBAMA

This letter contains sensitive judgements. Please limit copying, and protect the contents carefully.

1. Ahead of Senator Obama’s visit to London next week, I thought it would be useful to give you a snapshot of his personality, politics and emerging policies.

Background and Personality

2. The key themes which are important in understanding Obama’s political makeup are the following:

- His struggle to understand his racial identity. His first book “Dreams from My Father” (1995) traces this struggle through Hawaii, New York, Chicago and Kenya. Raised by his white Kansas-born mother and her parents after his Kenyan father left, Obama made a conscious decision in the 1980s to choose his African-American identity – he worked as a community organiser in the poorest areas of Chicago, and went on to travel to Kenya to learn about his father. His decision after Harvard Law School to settle back in Chicago led to growing integration into the city’s black middle class culture and provided him with the political laboratory from which his career was launched;

- His personal makeup drives his view of politics. Obama talks of wanting to reach out to all Americans (“no red states or blue states, only the United States”). “I will never forget that in no other country on earth is my story

I talked to Republican HQ in Michigan. I was told that even though the campaign is pulling out that does not mean that they have given up on the state. They will just concentrate on the states they need to concentrate on. Apparently there are quite number of Democrats that are crossing over to McCain in MI. Even union members. She said that all of Obama support is coming from one county. If that that county does not have a big turn out McCain will take the state.

Apparently the campaign decided they have done everything they can do in Michigan and have moved on. McCain is running a lean organization and they will not spend any more time in one place then they need to.

She told me not to write off Michigan. They have plenty of support there.

Hi everyone – I haven’t been participating much lately.

After tonight’s debate, everyone will be thinking and saying the same stupid things they have been all along. I don’t expect anyone’s sentiments to change.

Most of my family and friends think I’ve lost my mind; ergo, I don’t say much lately.

A dear friend of more than 50 yrs told me I was a sexist, racist and bigot. Her son-in-law is in Afghanistan and her grandson is soon to go. I feel a terrible loss, yet all I can do is TRY to understand her fear, if she will let me.

If McCain wins she will be blaming ‘Hillary’s Army’ (that’s US). Hillary will be blamed no matter what, if BO looses (G-d willing).

I wish all our Jewish friends a Happy and Sweet New Year.

Thanks for letting me share -

From Anglchel “The current set of posts (no, I will not link to them) serves up a toxic brew ostensibly about the current financial market and Obama’s connections to it, but is actually little more than regurgitation of the Republican racist assault on equal opportunity lending.”

Equal Opportunity Lending?

Aren’t the people served by Fannie and Freddie loosing their houses? How is this a service to anyone except those in charge of Fannie and Freddie, namely those who made fortunes at others misfortune? We are not bailing out those poor souls who lost their houses (and credit rating) we are bailing out the institutions who were allowed to game the system. Pointing out the corruption and failures of those in charge must be done! If someone sees the race of the profiteer first, then I submit it is that someone’s problem. Names must be named and pictures shown.

Even Bill Clinton wanted to regulate Fannie and Freddie, those efforts were resisted.

video title “Bill Clinton on the Economic Crisis”

An uncredentialed mind -

This statement makes me think of who hands out the credentials, and who receives credentials. Since most people cannot afford credentials, the mind pool is limited to the few within an evermore tiny, incestuous, group of allegedly ‘blessed’ individuals and families, certainly not the cream of the crop.

Critical thought is not the sole property of those officially credited with having a ‘mind’. Nor is the ability to discern fact from fiction. These are qualities you allow yourself to have, and cannot be taught no matter your grade in Critical Thought 101. Another term for it is common sense. There is a reason it is called common sense, it is available to anyone. Those in towers tend to strongly adhere (might I say cling) to ‘groupthink’, out of the fear of the loss of status, lifestyle, friends, etc. This fear is a critical thought killer, as the groupthinker must never, ever, think outside the group’s box, else they may be tossed outside the tower.

Some people, true thinkers, own their thoughts, possess common sense, and are courageous in comparison to those who live in cloistered ‘thought’ towers.

***BERG’S SUBPEONA REQUEST DENIED BY U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT***

Philip Berg hit a speed bump this afternoon. In a letter from David Newman of the Office of Legal Adviser for the U.S. Department of State, his attempted service of subpoena on the Vital Records Section of the State Department and a pair of U.S. embassies was rejected.

Snip

I’ve received a number of e-mails and messages stating that the judge has decided on the matter, all linking to the PDF copy of an official court document.

The document in question is a PROPOSED ORDER. It is not a decision by the court, but rather a procedural mechanism included with motions to essentially “assume the sale,” to provide the judge with a place to theoretically sign off and decide in favor of the filing party.

As of 2:28 p.m. today, there has been no decision by Judge Surrick. If there is, you will be among the first to know, as I am plugged in enough at the courthouse to see such an order as soon as it comes down from the judge’s chambers.

No, a least not yet. But the situation in Europe is very bad too.
However they have more resources, because the Euro is not devaluated.
However as most of the transactions in the world are in Dollars, this is having a globally impact.
France is going into reccession also.
Belgium’s bank ,FORTIS, collapsed 3 o 4 days ago.
Bradford & Bingley from UK also fell.
Spain has 10% unemployment rate.
So US situation is affecting all over.

Since we are trying to prevent the election of Nobama, I just sent the following to everyone on my email list.

I am also sending it to the newsmedia. In addition, I would like to add the following email addresses for prowls. Most of these are to the foreign media. I think that they should receive them too!!!

Obama Crimes

I would like to ask:
What is Obama hiding?
Why did the DNC and Obama campaign have a motion to dismiss if there is nothing to hide?

ALL HE HAS TO DO IS TO SHOW A VAULT
OR
LEGITIMATE BIRTH CERTIFICATE.
HOW HARD IS THAT?

JOHN MCCAIN HAD TO SHOW HIS AS SOMEONE SUED HIM TO SHOW IT SINCE HE WAS BORN IN THE PANAMA CANAL ZONE WHILE HIS FATHER WAS IN THE NAVY.
McCain Showed His Birth Certificate, an actual piece of paper : NO QUARTER

SO, WHY DOESN’T BARACK OBAMA SHOW HIS? IT IS NOT AN UNREASONABLE QUESTION FOR SOMEONE WHO IS RUNNING FOR THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. DON’T YOU THINK?

Just In: OBAMA is USING TERRORIST’S LAWYER to Defend Against Berg’s LAWSUIT

Here come another of those “Guilt by Associations” that Senator Barack Obama will try to weasel himself out of. As you may know, Philip Berg is suing Senator Obama in Civil Court. Berg wants Obama to Produce his real birth certificate to prove that he meets the citizenship requirements to be President. Rather than just product the birth certificate (is he trying to hide something?) Obama’s legal team filed a motion to dismiss. One of the Lawyers filing the motion was

Murphy: Excellent analysis of the unhappy results of the Descartian mind and thought, of which Anglahcl’s piece on her blog for Oct 1 is an example. I think therefore I am has led more than one mind to have trouble allowing the being-ness of this incarnated world of humans and their actions in to mess up the “Beauty”
and theneat, pure Order..Literary Critic Allen Tate calls this kind of mind The Angelic Imagination …Angels the world may have but we who are in this world as humans must live,
love, die, and fight with our poor incarnated selves
..and do the very best or if we so choose the very worst we can! I wrote a comment on Angla’s post. I doubt if it will appear, but I tried to introduce the incarnate word anyway!

That FDIC $250,000 modification was done to prevent bank runs. When people panic they may run to their bank and withdraw their deposits because they fear it is, or might become, insolvent. Increasing the FDIC is one way to calm people.

I completely disregard polls after my run in with Rasmussen. I experienced first hand how polls are manipulated. Think about it. NO ONE is policing them. Heck, nobody is held accountable for ANYTHING any more so what incentive do they have to be honest or ethical. They poll who they want, to get the results they want, and if the results turn out “wrong” they just outright lie and call it “with leaners”. The sad (and maddening) thing is, those who can’t (or won’t) think for themselves will follow the imaginary crowd.

OBAMA USES TERROR LAWYER TO FIGHT FORGED BIRTH CERTIFICATE LAWSUIT

The plot thickens. The lawsuit Philip Berg filed based on my blockbuster expose of Obama’s birth certificate forgery has taken a bizarre and disturbing twist. Why is a Presidential candidate using a terrorist lawyer. Every allinace, every allegiance, malevolent.

Barack Hussein has recently admitted to dual citizenship … media yawned, too busy going through Sarah Palin’s trash (at least they are in their own element). How ironic that what we need is a federal elections specialist. Obama is considered an expert in this area having taught it for several years at University of Chicago law school after his stint at ACORN.

I’m not good at words, but here is my email:

SUBJECT: Illegal Contributions Received by Obama for President Campaign

Please launch a formal investigation into the collection of illegal contributions by the Obama for President campaign. There have been many reports that as much as $200 million may have been collected illegally, with a portion of that amount coming from foreign interests. This is an outrage. There are laws against foreign influence in US Presidential campaigns, and it is in the best interest of our country that these laws be enforced.

They’re intentionally manipulating the “groupthink” affect that mesofreee talked about in #131. They KNOW no one will hold them accountable. Truth is NOT their strong suit. They also are hoping these tainted polls will cause PUMAs and those like us to just resign ourselves and quit. The more lopsided the polls go, that tells me the level to which the oblahma campaign is running scared. The higher his numbers go the HARDER WE FIGHT!

Paul's Middle-Class Bail Out

Wow, what a strange week. We are being told that if our political leaders don’t pass a ‘bail out plan’ for the banking and investment industry, to the tune of $700 billion dollars, then our entire economy…and life as we know it, will cease. Even more amazing…this massive bail out will actually come out of all of our pockets. It is possible, too, that this is only the start of the ‘bail out’ era. I’m not really sure if any of us understand the magnitude of what it is that we are being told. Without it, there will be massive lay-offs, thousands of homes will be foreclosed, many of the investment firms that we have known for decades, will close, and our whole economy will basically go into a depression. Yes, that IS serious, and I don’t want any of this to happen, as I’m sure none of you want it to happen either.
Hold the phone, for a minute, while I let this soak in. If there are 200 million working Americans, and we will have to foot the bill for this bail out, then, if my figures are correct, ( there are a lot of zeroes in these figures), it will cost each and every one of us $350,000 for this ‘bail out’…AND, if anyone out there tells you any different, just ask them where will it come from. Seems pretty simple to me…let’s see, I pay $350,000 so that the investment banking industry that wouldn’t give me the time of day last month…wouldn’t refinance my home…wouldn’t give me a loan when I had an emergency…can stay in business. I don’t think so. ‘But Paul, our entire economy will tumble like a house of cards, without this emergency bail out,’ I am being told by those who should know.
Guess what? I have come up with my own plan for a bail out, and it has nothing to do with helping businesses that have been run into the ground by greedy millionaires. My ‘bail out’ is called ‘Paul’s Middle-Class Bail Out’, (I know, I need a catchier name), and here it is: Every income tax filing American adult will be given $350,000, (The same money that would be used to fund the banking bail out). There are two conditions. Any money previously owed to the IRS will be deducted first, and $105,000 in taxes will be deducted out. That sends $210 billion back to our government. It also collects all outstanding monies due for the IRS. Under my plan, citizens will be able to pay down the majority of all their debt, replace their vehicles if needed, catch up with their housing payments, pay off school loans, even start new careers, and in most cases, still have money left to invest. How can you have a depression if the citizens are spending money that they have, on the things that they had previously gotten into debt for? The trust worthy companies in the banking industry that survive will get plenty of new business from Americans who wish to invest.
The people that I’ve shared my idea with, all smile, some laugh, then they say the same thing…’Great idea, but, it will never fly. Our government would never give it’s own citizens that amount of money.’ To this I say, why not. We are blowing $90 billion a month in Iraq, and we have for the past seven years. Look how much we’ve gotten for that. We donate monies to other countries like it was candy. My plan would get rid of almost all individual debt, and it would cost our government less than this banking ‘bail out’. I can’t think of anything else that could accomplish as much good. Lastly, if one of our candidates would pick up my plan and run with it, it would solve the question of who will be our next president. I think a candidate with this platform would get nearly all the middle class and poor votes. Granted, the wealthy will not want anything to do with it, but, they’ve already blown their chance, with this economy, and look where we are now. So there you have it, ‘Paul’s middle class bail out’, it’s my gift to all Americans.

Paul R Ortiz y Pino

#202 slyt2 on 10.02.08 at 6:31 pm

I so don’t agree with the bailout but in the letter Sherrod Brown at least tried to explain why he felt it was necessary to vote for it, that’s nice he took the time to do that.

A thought for an upcoming prowl.

What do you think about focusing different days on different topics? To connect with votes and to show the DNC the reach, range and readiness of PUMA.

For example, one day could focus on Spanish language newspapers, radio stations and tv stations? A bilingual member of the site could translate a few key items (a letter, some emails, etc.) into Spanish.

Perhaps another day could have the focus on making America energy independent. It could be helpful to target radio stations during AM / PM drive time when people are using up their gas and paying at the pump. I bet there are fair number of DJs across this country who would give an impromptu interview on air when the phones and emails light up the place like fireworks in the night sky.

Are any press releases being sent out to local radio and tv stations? Sort of a “Heads up _____, PUMAs coming your way this Thursday. Buckle up!” (I think there are websites that do this via email for a small fee or maybe even free, not sure.)

Just a few thoughts.

#259 Bella-Me on 10.02.08 at 7:06 pm

That FDIC $250,000 modification is smoke and mirrors. Most people with over $100,00 do not put it all in one bank. The purposefully put it in IRAs and accounts in increments of $100,000 because the FDIC only secured up to that amount.

So it really doesn’t really mean a single thing. Like I said smoke and mirrors so the earmarks, pork and slush funds would be overlooked. The only people with over $100,000 are the wealthy any way so it benefits yet again the wealthy NOT the middle class.

#260 NewOrleansPuma on 10.02.08 at 7:07 pm

Exactly, Henry…Obama mirrors the other so that the other thinks in fact that Obama is like the other but he is not. He has no boundries in person and in act and therefore no self, other than the pragmatic one constructed in the moment of encounter with the next mirror. This is a case study in a sociopathology. He is an undiagnosed sociopath. ..and a sick dangerous succor as a result.

Repost from mzebest

COUPLE OF ALERT ANNOUNCEMENTS

First — it’s crucial we still make calls to let our congressmen know how we feel about the Bailout bill. I left a message letting them know that I want to throw it out and listen to the experts that say all we need is the FDIC increase and reform on the mark to market rules and it won’t cost the taxpayers a cent for those reforms. Demand this NOW!!!!

I called this number (the operator is very helpful in finding the congressman for your district to leave a message) — it is the number for the congress house main switchboard:

Let’s flood them with calls today and tomorrow.

Did I ever tell you when I got back from Denver, I found a page of notes my teenage daughter had taken down while watching a report on Hillary / Denver on “Nightline,” she took the notes because I asked her to watch it & see if it talked about PUMA.

So anyway, next to the words “Nancy Pelosi” she scrawls something Pelosi said about Hillary voters. Then next to that in her own words in parenthesis: “she’s basically a bitch,” that made me laugh so hard! !
She’s astute, that little daughter of mine..

#277 Jeremy on 10.02.08 at 7:21 pm

Regarding the posts talking about the polls, etc. In my opinion, and I have said this before, the REAL poll is what you see visually in your “neck of the woods.”

Point 1:

I have never been called to participate in a poll this election cycle. I have never received an email to do polling online. In 2004, I had numerous polling calls and remember 2 online questionnaires soliciting my opinion on how I planned to vote.

Point 2:

I have seen 1(one) Obama yard sign in my large neighborhood/community. I have seen MANY yard signs supporting candidates, both Repub and Dems that are up for re-election for House Seats. Business have signs showing their support for those seeking re-election to House Seats or the challengers, but NONE for the Presidential Race. In 2004, those same business had BOTH. I find this really odd when I compare. Also, the Dem Hdq. has all of the candidates placards out in front but you have to really HUNT and look close to see the Obama/Biden support. They are in the window at the bottom. Last week, 2 large Obama/Biden signs were near the entrance of my community last Friday. They were GONE the next afternoon. I have been watching for their return, but they are still MIA, however, the House and Senate Candidates signs are still there.

Point 3:

Bumper stickers. Throughout the Western area of greater Houston and into midtown itself, I have counted less than 15 Obama stickers….none with Obama/Biden…none! Those driving the vehicles are his base support and will not elaborate. Including my vehicle and reporting about the same area, I have seen 20 plus McCain stickers and more than half are the newest ones that include Palin.

I have given out McCain/Palin stickers to MANY at work. 3 have put them on their cars. Those that have NOT put them on their vehicles, I have asked why, the reason ranges from “I want to save it but I have it on my refrigerator door or I can’t afford to buy new tires.” So there is my take on this and that is my poll.

Rasmussen or Gallup, if you or any of your associates are lurking here, feel free to use this on the spot information or come and look for yourself.

Word of warning to all concerned about Polls

I totally believe the article that suggested the polls are an illusion. Think about it. Obama has several strategies he likes to employ. The first being perception (through media deception). The second being to isolate, divide, and conquer. If we have no way to guage the real trends… don’t we in effect feel isolated (and perhaps divided from the outside world)? The flaw is I don’t believe he will succeed in conquering us though.

This morning on FOX — I saw a reporter who was in Pennsylvania. He went inside a local restaurant to talk to people. He approached one table with two women (approx. age of in their 60’s — just a guess). He asked if they would be watching the debate tonight. The enthusiastic “Yes, of course,” led to his next question of “Why?” Again — lot’s of enthusiasm in their tone when they replied, “I want to see Palin.” To me — their tone suggested they were supporters not on the side of Obama and hoping she will fail.

The reporter moved to the next table — 4 women (approx. age range in 30’s or 40’s — again a guess on my part). Reporter asks same question if they will be watching the debate. Again — same enthusiastic “Yes.” The reporter says, “May I ask which candidate you are leaning towards in your support?” ALL FOUR WOMEN — without even thinking twice or waiting to sound off separately — shouted enthusiastically “McCain!!!”

Their enthusiasm even caught the reporter off guard a tad. My point is — I think the support for McCain is huge. Obama doesn’t want us to know that. But it would make sense from all the crazy tactics his camp has to employ. Voter fraud as one example. It must be exhausting to be so unpopular but yet have to give the appearance that his popularity is growing.

And as a side note — I’m sure he’s using all the race card allegations as a means to explain his loss when it finally becomes evident. A way to blame anyone but the true person responsible for losing — Obama himself. He’ll never be able to face the truth of his flaws. He’s perfect — as the case with anyone suffering NPD (Narcissist Personality Disorder).

More Conflicts of Interest at NBC
As anyone with a pulse knows, NBC News has tilted so far to the left this election season they’ve done everything but dress up their on-air news “talent” in cheerleader outfits with an Obama logo on them.

Now comes word that with the current economic crisis, a couple more glaring conflicts are causing concern.
NBC is under fire for having correspondent Andrea Mitchell cover the economic crisis because she’s married to former Federal Reserve chief Alan Greenspan – but some people are also wondering about David Gregory, who has a show, “Race for the White House” on MSNBC. Gregory is married to Beth Wilkinson – who until a month ago was general counsel, executive vice president and corporate secretary for mortgage giant Fannie Mae, which is now being investigated by the FBI.
Everyone knows Mitchell is married to Greenspan, but he’s no longer Fed chair and you can probably cut her some slack. But as for Gregory, his obvious conflict of interest should preclude him from reporting on any matters related to Fannie Mae. When the time comes, as it should, that former Fannie Mae officials are indicted or brought forth to testify before Congress, will NBC even mention Wilkinson is married to one of their star reporters?

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE OBAMA??

Read On…

> PROMOTING the election of leftist political candidates throughout the United States

> OPPOSING virtually all post-9/11 national security measures enacted by U.S. government, particularly the Patriot Act

> DEPICTING American military actions as unjust, unwarranted, and immoral

> PROMOTING a dramatic expansion of social welfare programs funded by ever-escalating taxes

> Promoting social welfare benefits and amnesty for illegal aliens

> DEFENDED suspected anti-American terrorists and their abetters

> FINANCING the recruitment and training of future activist leaders of the political Left

> ADVOCATING America’s unilateral disarmament and/or a steep reduction in its military spending

> PROMOTING the tenets of radical environmentalism, whose ultimate goal, as writer Michael Berliner has explained, is “not clean air and clean water, [but] rather … the demolition of technological/industrial civilization”

> BRINGING American foreign policy under the control of the United Nations

> PROMOTING racial and ethnic preferences in academia and the business world alike

This is George Soros and his Open Society/Shadow Party partial strategy. You can also do a research on “PEWGATE.” This talks some about media manipulation and I believe his attempt re: massive brainwashing strategy.

The Shadow Party is the real power driving the Democrat machine. It is a network of radicals dedicated to transforming our constitutional republic into a socialist hive. The leader of these radicals is … George Soros. He has essentially privatized the Democratic Party, bringing it under his personal control. The Shadow Party is the instrument through which he exerts that control. … It works by siphoning off hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign contributions that would have gone to the Democratic Party in normal times, and putting those contributions at the personal disposal of Mr. Soros. He then uses that money to buy influence and loyalty where he sees fit.
This network’s activities include fundraising, get-out-the-vote drives, political advertising, opposition research, and MEDIA MANIPULATION.

This is George Soros and his Open Society/Shadow Party partial strategy. You can also do a research on “PEWGATE” which was exposed in 2005. This talks some about media manipulation and I believe his attempt re: massive brainwashing strategy and HUGE CONTOL OF CONGRESS.

Oh yeah, In 2007 Pelosi hired one of Soros’ “buddies” as a senior adviser to her.

This is ALL a well-oiled political money machine and started in the early 1990’s (I think). Obama talks the talk and walks the walk. This is so much more powerful than we can ever imagine. Hitler probably did alot of this stuff.

It’s not the polls or the votes that matter it’s who’s doing the COUNTING. I heard it all before Bush was done, it was over for Bush….Gore would crush him, Kerry would mash him, 5 days before the election the OCTOBER SURPRISE. Bin Laden appeared and the people said hell no we don’t want Kerry protecting us. Kerry couldn’t rebound. Nothing is never over.

I am not for the bail out. I had hoped McCain would not have voted for it. I believe politics is more the directive than actual solutions with this bill.

Bottom line is………..you can dump on McCain and give up and let Obot win this election, or you can disagree with McCain’s decision for voting on the bill, hope the House does not pass it but, keep your eye on the mission to keep Obot from being elected.

I can accept the Bill being passed, if it is.
I can NOT accept Obot being elected.
Hillary also is for this bill to pass.

You can order hot fudge cake, get home and see they forgot the cherry on top, but you are still going to enjoy the hot fudge cake because you hate Lemon cake. NewOrleansPuma-

I was traveling to the East Coast and just settled in for a few days here. Now at an undisclosed location in the SouthEast US.

DON’T BELIEVE THE POLLS!!!

I had a lot of time to think about this today, and I am convinced they do not reflect reality.

DO I believe they are being manipulated? Absolutely! There is no criminal law that prohibits it.

Why? Several reasons:

1. Showing Obama with a big lead prior to the election will discourage many people from voting for McCain – if their vote won’t be perceived as making a difference, they might as well not vote.

2. The MSM is in a fight for its very life. If Obama loses this election, their open and off the chart support for Obama will make them even more irrelevant than they are now. They crossed the point of no return, and have decided to go “all in”. They are using their platforms to attack McCain? Palin at every turn while sanctifying Obama and ignoring incredible negative issues (like illegal contributions, voter tampering, his past). They cannot afford to have Obama lose the election.

3. Obama already has over 9000 lawyers on standby to pounce following the elections. If he loses, he will scream it was because the election was stolen. He will point to Exhibit 1 attached to his lawsuit to make his point – the poll numbers. If all the polls show Obama with a lead, he will claim he won but for some illicit conduct. Don’t forget, Obama taught election law – he knows exactly what buttons to push, and how to rig the landscape to give him the best chance.

So, ignore the polls. Obama controls the media, and the media controls the polls.

What pisses me off about this bail out is, last year we had to close our business of 18yrs. As constuction slowed down our business debt was growing. So rather than default on our bank debt weeeeeeee had to do the right thing. We are paying it off! We couldnt pull money out of the house (due to the bus. closing) and the bank would ONLY set up payments IF we declared $$ hardship. So we did. Credit is ruined ruined ruined because of it. Now my DH has been laid off his present job, they froze money due to bail out mess. And SILLY US, for doing the right thing!

I wonder what the government would do if in protest, we all just stopped paying on our loans? Can’t get any help unless we’re deadbeats, so what is the sense of being responsible. If everyone did it, the government could not print enough new money to get out of that jam.

They’ll help their Wall Street buddies, they’ll help campaign contributors, they’ll help people who never intended to pay off their loans, but they won’t help the average American. To the contrary, the average American gets the bill. The strangers at the table next to you at the restaurant skipped out on their tab, and the waiter expects you to cover it?

I voted for Ferraro back in 1986 but just thought she should stick up for women better. She could have been more like Hillary. Hillary does not try to destroy Palin.

ORilley and Ferraro kept interrupting each other and not letting the other speak. I dont like that. It bothers me. I like to watch a conversation between two people. Ferrero was not listening to ORilley.

He is running as a man with a bipartisan agenda. How will it look if 30 days before an election he comes out railing against the dems and their pork laden bill. To you and me his voting NO would be great but where is the bipartisanship in that. He knows the indy voters will swing this election, he can not appear partisan on a bill that the media and the president are selling as the end all bill, if not passed. Again he is boxed in, partisanship will only paint him further in the corner with Bush, he is trying to break from the Bush and does not want to be known as the 3rd term. This election is not so much a vote for Obama and the dems as it is a vote against Bush! I hope to HELL he and his handlers know what they are doing.
