This is gonna get ugly.

Marcy Kaptur voted in OUR POLL today (you can too!). She chose C, No Bailout for Billionairz.

Seriously, this might get really ugly. Kaptur’s mad as hell. We’ll see if she’s gonna take it anymore.

#17 Sunshinelvr on 09.30.08 at 8:54 pm

well I think even if we bail them out-they will just keep doing it and it’s not going to help us keep prices down anyway. My feeling is that we are in this mess for a little while before it gets better.

here in california anyone who buys a home now if they can..is an idiot.. the market still has another 20-30% to drop before it finds its true level..
you buy a home today and in two years its lost 30% value?? i dont think so..
————-
I agree, the housing dip has just begun in California. This nice idiot at work that makes about the same as I do, enough to rent but out of the question to buy a house… did so about a year or two ago. No down, interest only, yada, yada…
Bought a rat trap in a horrible city, Richmond…, for….
drum roll…………. ………………
………… $425,000! Yup, a dump in the ghetto.
Fast forward………….. he of course couldn’t afford the increased interest rate…………….. now has the house on the market for $125,000 and is going into bankruptcy.

Should I pay a cent to bail him out of bankruptcy? Hell no. I told him to find an apartment quick and get out of that disaster, pronto.

This whole thing ticks me off, not people ending up on the street, but people that lived on credit and we are expected to pay their bills…………………….

some PUMA opinions need on AARP , Clearly they are in the tank for bambi :
Dearxxxx,

Our jobs, homes, and economic security are at risk.

The cost of doing nothing is just too high.

Add your voice to the discussion NOW.

Two things happened yesterday you ought to know.

1) The House of Representatives failed to pass an economic plan that would have helped to stabilize Wall Street.

2) Directly after the House vote the stock market lost over $1.1 TRILLION DOLLARS in value.

Is failure to take action on the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression really an option?

We shouldn’t pretend that there isn’t a justified and real anger in the country today. From the emails and letters we’ve received we know you feel it. Many of us here at AARP feel it too.

But as real as it is, now is not the time to stoke that anger. AARP believes we must have the courage and honesty to deal with the problem at hand. Now is not the time to finger-point or for politicians to put election-year considerations ahead of the health and well-being of our nation.

Robin, we know that this issue is deeply important to you, and we want to hear your side of the story. What needs to be done? Go to ShAARP Session, AARP’s blog, and add your voice to the debate!

The stock market and our financial system are not just the domain of those on Wall Street. The financial system is also ours – its health impacts the teacher with a 401K plan, the retiree with a nest egg, the parent who is saving to put a child through college.

Here’s a fact among the spin. Nearly one-third of home owners who bought in the last five years owe more money than their home is worth. It’s called “being underwater”. These folks are not speculators, they’ve done nothing wrong — they are simply hard-working people who wanted a piece of the American Dream. The longer this crisis lasts the deeper underwater they will sink.

Everyday that goes by without a solution to this crisis means:

* Homeowners will likely see their home values continue to plummet, and they can forget about moving or borrowing money to fix their current homes in order to stay there longer;
* The retirement savings of millions of Americans — including those that did everything right to build up a solid nest egg — could be wiped away.
* Our kids and grandkids will potentially lose access to student loans — perhaps costing them the chance to go to college.

Join the discussion happening now at blog.aarp.org/shaarpsession/ and learn what other people are saying about the Wall Street meltdown.

Ask yourself, “Is the cost of inaction just too high?” We believe that the answer is “Yes.” Doing nothing or grand-standing on principles will just mean that the pain will be borne by every American who will suffer in a deep and sustained recession.

AARP is working to urge Washington officials to act responsibly by passing an economic stabilization plan that has oversight and homeowner relief – and we are urging them to act now. I look forward to reading your opinions on these matters online.

Thanks, as always, for your thoughts, your time and your consideration of the issues presented above. I strongly encourage you to provide your own opinion on AARP’s blog.

Barry Jackson

Credit is what wrecked this country and it will eventually destroy society. I get so pissed thinking about how the same people that caused this mess are the ones saying they can fix it if we give them another trillion dollars. What they deserve is an all expenses paid vacation to Leavenworth, or Attica, or San Quentin.

What the heck are you talking about? Because she doen’t blurt out the name of a news paper you jump to the conclusion that she doesn’t even read? You sound suspiciously like an Obot to me. Yea, somehow she can work as a Governor and hide the fact that she can’t read. This is laughable if it weren’t a pathetic conclusion on your part. Ever think that no matter what Palin identified as her source of news and information, that the interview would attack Palin as only being narrowly informed by not reading X, Y and Z newspapers.
Sorry, this isn’t worth talking about.

I live in Toledo, Marcy kaptur is from Toledo. I and all of my children have met her she is great. My kids are friends with her cousins, I know tons of people that know her personally, she is truly just one of us, that may be the reason she wins by a landslide every single time she is up for re-election. We as Toledoans have been PROUD of her for years, talk about a maverick, with her what you see is truly who she is. My God that woman has been in congress for at least 25 years or more, ever since I have been a kid. She is a thorn in the dems side, always has been, she is not very well known elsewhere because she only worries about the people she represents, she knows her job and always and I do mean always sides with the people…ALWAYS!

I found this on the Berg site. We should try to find out who this writer is and get a connection. She could help us out. this poster is referring to the info on the Berg site.

written by Pam, September 30, 2008

I forwarded this info to a Chicago Sun Times columnist. She is good at writing about things on Obama that others refuse to print. I am hoping she will get it out…

If I were to run for President she would be my first choice for VP and this means that she convinced me in 2 minutes not 15 that McCain took. Please tell her also to work with like minded people to stop the sexism. Ok too much Now I am like a ASIANCORN!

The MSM attacks on Palin are disgusting. They dig as deep as they can. Next they will say she fell off her bike as a child and viciously killed a bug. McCain is a known entity and Americans know he’s a maverick and always will be no matter how much bozo calls him Bush. Palin is the biggest threat to the bozo campaign due to her energizing the McCain campaign, being the 1st woman Repub VP candidate, and her non-Washington connection. Her “newness” is also a weakness in the fact that the overall public doesn’t know much about her so bozo can make up all kinds of things or blow things way out of proportion such as troopergate nonissue. The bots and media have completely lost their minds (more than they already had by supporting a rookie idiot) when McCain picked Palin. They dig up stupid beauty pagent videos of her while years of Bozo’s life have just disappeared and who cares if he hangs out with terrorists or may have dual citizenship or drops hints of socialism/communism in every single interview he gives such as “redistribution of wealth”, “being nice by sharing”, “fairness”, etc. I can’t believe how 50% of the voting public are complete idiots. I am a democrat but like all PUMAs, I don’t blindly vote party line and not research my candidate to make sure he/she is credible and the best choice for the country.

I pray McCain does something soon and stops playing Mr. Nice guy. He has done some things but most of the media does not report it as usual. Pelosi is a collosal failure, a despicable partisan person who cares less about Americans. I have no clue how her lunatic rear end ever got elected to Speaker. I am changing my affiliation to Independent until my party comes back to what it once was before it was hijacked by crooks. The bailout, ACORN drama was the last straw.

dwp is right. they’re trashing palin bc she is a WOMAN.

backfire scenario: the bots have convinced so many people that Palin is going to fall flat on her face that expectations for her are now low.

That’s what they did with Obama — established as incontravertible FACT that all he had to do was show up and not fall flat on his face for him to win. He only had to “APPEAR” presidential in order to BE presidential. yikes.

Fred Thompson made a couple million dollars on TV “appearing” presidential — that didnt convince voters though.

So if Palin doesnt screw up royally she’ll have won in people’s minds.

I betcha Biden’s pretty worried actually. He’s the gaffe-meister, not her.

p.s. SO glad you made it in gogandalf!

weird — but I have a theory.

#22 Billie Jo

My son is a builder. He builds home priced between $600,000 and a million. Many of the buyers would use mortgage brokers. The buyers did not have their income or ability to pay the mortgage verified. If a buyer bought a home for $600,000, they were able to mortgage $650.000. Instead of putting the $50,000 in the bank/safe investments, they went out and bought a new car and furniture. Did not pay cash, they put that on credit, too.

What is interesting is my son urged these people to get a lawyer and they refused. We are assuming that the buyers were pressured by the mortgage brokers to not use a lawyer. My son has sold thousands of newly built homes and still uses a lawyer at every closing. I just think it would be common sense to use a lawyer when you are putting yourself so far in debt.

Do I feel sorry for the people who lost their homes because they knowingly or foolishly overextended themselves? No.

Fortunately, most of his buyers were people who financed through banks and needed the twenty percent down and their incomes were verified so my son’s subdivisions that he developed are not filled with foreclosure or for sale signs now.

I, like you, am irritated that I have to pay for people who lived on credit. NO BAILOUT

Colmes is clueless!

Yes, it is great to see that at least Fox is aware of what is going on. #188 shasta2001 on 09.30.08 at 10:26 pm

#56 Billiejo,

Is this what you are looking for?

ANNCR: John McCain fought to rein in Fannie and Freddie.

The Post says: McCain “pushed for stronger regulation”…”while Mr. Obama was notably silent.”

But, Democrats blocked the reforms.

Loans soared.

Then, the bubble burst.

And, taxpayers are on the hook for billions.

Bill Clinton knows who is responsible.

PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON: “I think the responsibility that the Democrats have may rest more in resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.”

ANNCR: You’re right, Mr. President. It didn’t have to happen.

JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

Whichever side you are on. write or call (or both) your senators tomorrow morning about the bailout. The Senate will take it up and probably vote tomorrow night.

Personally, I think this is madness. Just my opinion. I’m all for working out a reasonable plan to tackle this problem, but am totally opposed to panicked, knee-jerked reactions that will cost the taxpayers outrageous amounts of money with absolutely no assurance of success.

I want to see some hearings with expert testimony and have a reasonable plan worked out where the pain is shared by all, not this crap where those of us who struggle to put groceries on our tables and gas in our tanks are expected to bail out millionaires who spent the better part of last year cruising around on their yachts, eating arugula and kissing Obama’s *ss!

SIGNS

The other day I posted about not seeing many BO signs around and now they have started to crop up around here. I have contacted the local GOP to get some counter posters. I was thinking of McCain/Palin signs and PUMA flyers for this weekend.

4th of July weekend, I put out PUMA posters. Well, I went by one the other day and IT WAS STILL THERE! That is kind of a problem because the red PUMApac I used on the sign faded. I already recolored it once. Looks like I’m going to have to do it again.

#21 BillieJo: My neighbor made a similar stupid move. At one point they said the houses in my neighborhood were worth $850,000. I knew it was crap but my neighbor refinanced, went to Europe for a month and bought 4 new computers, one for each kid and one for the parents. The next year they refinanced again and took the whole family to Europe for the summer. Now they own far more than the house is worth, and their interest rate has gone up.

Two houses down from me a guy bought a dumpy house for $420,000. last December gutted it reworked the floor plan and put it on the market for $850,000. two months ago. It is still sitting there, not one offer.

I don’t see why we should bail this sort of person out or bail out the big banks who made thousands in refinance fees now that their self made bubble burst. They need to work it off and I who continued my conservative lifestyle will have enough to deal with because my investments are impacted I don’t also need to have my tax money given away. If it were true that the 7 billion is an investment we will get back then why don’t they get private buyers? The reason why is because it is just a great big rat hole.

posted this at AARP site:

“A bailout with earmarks for favored entities and action groups, that allows golden parachutes for the people who caused this mess, that contains no protection for the people who legitimately used their credit to buy homes, cars, education, and that rewards politicians who gladly took money from lobbyists or corporations should not even be considered. I would rather have to pinch pennies now than have to saddle my children and grandchildren with debt to save the people who brought this mess about – here and abroad.”

hope others post as well.

I was thinking I am going to write my Attorney General and complain that Ohio is skewing the national election because they are using drive by voting which is leading to fraud and setting a bad example. Maybe we can get a coalition of Attorney Generals to go to the Feds about this. Also I hope that McCain is busing elders from senior centers and church people in for a drive by vote! As well as sending out some fraudulent voters to see what percentage are caught by the state.

@ #199

Pumas, I have ideas for Puma Pac:

1.
Murphy and Dances et al, work hard. Make a graphic for contribution and another one for the action center. They will be image hyperlinks that pop out and we all can click them readily. We can put them on the sidebar. I can come up with the codes if that is the issue.

2.
I wish most posts were action posts. I can come up with five a day. You plaster that action at the bottom of every social post, and we got your back. We are a mini army that can get the work done. USE US. USE the members here. It’s an action Pac. Just make us work, whether it’s a phone call, or a response post, or a story you want us to blow up to the media.

3.
PUMA PacERS (myself included) will post and then re-post topical youtube videos and articles. There is a HOT story or three daily–always. Try to keep the pulse of the blogosphere, and then post it at the TOP–so Puma PacERS don’t feel the (good-natured) need to distribute information by posting and re-posting the SAME links. We feel a NEED to share information and we take up way too much time re-telling one another the same links–wasting hours. If it’s posted at the top–we don’t need to work on expounding it HERE. *Also*…lurkers, important ones, get hard-core info quick.

4. Daily prowls. We need ‘em daily. I can help. I have a zillion ideas.

Good ideas?????

#233 emme on 09.30.08 at 10:49 pm

Just received this email from John McCain:

“My Friends,

We are in the greatest financial crisis of our lifetimes. Congressional inaction has put every American and the entire economy at the gravest risk. Yesterday the country and the world looked to Washington for leadership, and Congress once again came up empty-handed.

I am disappointed at the lack of resolve and bipartisan good will among members of both parties to fix this problem. Bipartisanship is a tough thing; never more so when you’re trying to take necessary but publicly unpopular action. But inaction is not an option.

If we do nothing, many businesses may fail. Sonic Corporation, a drive-in restaurant chain based in Oklahoma, learned on Thursday that one of its lenders, GE Capital, had stopped extending new loans to the chain’s franchisees. That will block plans to rebuild restaurants, add equipment and open new locations.

When financing dries up, students can’t get loans. In Wisconsin, more than 100 Milwaukee Area Technical College students couldn’t access private loans to fund their education. Fortunately the school was able to come up with emergency loans, but this temporary arrangement cannot continue. Markets need to work so that people can get financial help and students can be educated.

Again, inaction is not an option. In light of the House’s failure to act, this morning, I spoke to the President about two things that the administration has not done, but should do following the inaction of Congress. First, the Treasury has already used its Exchange Stabilization Fund to back money market accounts. I encourage it to use it this fund as creatively as possible to provide backstop for accounts across our financial system to maintain confidence on the part of savers and investors. And second, the recent housing bill gave the government nearly $1 trillion in authority to purchase mortgages. Housing and mortgages are at the root of this crisis.

The Administration can take these actions with the stroke of the pen to help alleviate the crisis gripping our economy. I urge them to do so.

The FDIC should quickly be granted the authority to increase the deposit insurance cap from $100,000 to $250,000 so that families do not have to worry about their money. We cannot allow a crisis in our financial system to become a crisis in confidence.

I call on everyone in Washington to come together in a bipartisan way to address this crisis. I know that many of the solutions to this problem may be unpopular, but the dire consequences of inaction will be far more damaging to the economic security of American families and the fault will be all ours.

And to my supporters, I assure you I will continue to do whatever I can to aid in a constructive answer to the challenge before us.

Sincerely,

John McCain

P.S. I’m asking you to pass this email http://link.johnmccain.com/?95-6076-961299-64075 along to your friends, family, neighbors and colleagues. We must spread the word that inaction is not an option. “

What do you want to bet that the MSM has already written up their post-debate stuff in outline form, just leaving out the details…. basically about how “presidential” Biden was and how “backwards”, stupid, and empty-headed Palin was? It’s already decided, I’m pretty sure. I’m getting pretty discouraged about this whole thing…. it’s like a “stacked deck”; Obama is playing extra aces that he had hidden up his sleeves and getting away with it. I know in my area of Wisconsin, even though he didn’t have a big show at the GB event they say it was because it was during the day and McCain’s was in the evening. I just know that everyone I know except my mom is absolutely totally brainwashed over BO. I don’t know how I would be able to stand him winning along with his crooked cronies…. and yet it seems like everything is going his way just like he planned it to. That is probably why he is so darned confident. I had posted here a couple days ago a link to an article stating that he and his team are absolutely confident – based on their inner polls and based on how everything is going their way- that they are not only going to win, but by a landslide. Can anyone say “I have a mandate from the people”?

Hey, PUMAs-
I admit I am totallly at a loss to speak about how to really fix the economics of our country right now. But here are some observations this layperson has made over the last few weeks:
If economists can’t agree on a strategy, then we DON’T know all the facts. Things are hidden from the average Americans, or put out in a “need to know basis.”

Three weeks ago I was listening to a report on NPR where they were discussing the dire need to shore up America’s banks because of the world-wide repercussions. The reporter commented that we had dodged the bullet of disaster with the bailout of AIG.
Two weeks ago the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac situation got to a “we’re gonna blow” status and discussions erupted about the bailout.
One week ago, the two presidential candidates are summoned to DC (though one was already on his way) to support legislation to rescue our economy. Name calling, blame issued, yada, yada….talk about “main street”….more yada, yada.
Two days ago, the Current President speaks urgently about the need to pass the legislation.
Yesterday, Congress doesn’t pass it by a bipartisan and slim margin. More name calling, and so on…..
Today, European heads of state are scrambling to calm their own nations and shore up banks on their turf.
Today, our Current President comes out again and pleads for a successful resolution.
Today, our presidential candidates issues statements for resolution.
Today, America calls the Congress and says, “NO.”
Tonight–The Last Straw—here it comes, Main Street, you asked for it:
Just came across the TV crawl: McDonald’s is in trouble. Sonic is in trouble. Our friends and neighbors who make a living in the fast food service industry are in jeopardy.

Is this coercion? Is this real? Is this manipulation?

Just observations.

I do not think AARP is being run by senior citizens anymore, I think their grandchildren have come in and are directing their parents and grandparents.

Well, if the Senate votes tomorrow night, that would mean the House votes Thursday. The news of that could soften the debate. . .a bit.

I honestly believe that Sarah Palin is going to kick some major ass. My gut’s telling me that she’s far from stupid (actually, she’s shown that). She’s just letting the MSM do their little thing; making everyone think there’s nothing to her.

She’s going to knock their socks off. It’s going to be interesting hearing what they say.

Hell, they might as well get Couric and Gibson up there too. Hire a group of Palin-haters to shout her out every time she opens her mouth!

I have NEVER seen anything like this in my life. And I know it is because she is a woman. Palin may have a steep learning curve, but something tells me she’d take it on and attack it. She’s such a fighter.

#279 Lin4Hill: Oh yeah we have seen something like this before. Remember the profound “alleged” sexism the MSM and liberal Democrats used against Hillary? Their behavior toward Palin is just more of the same. They are so friggin blind they don’t see it and they are so stupid they think no one else can see it. Hell, they haven’t even questioned why BO pays women in his Senate office only 78% what he pays men.

Ifill breaks her ankle today. Says she will still be at debate. Guess nothing is going to keep her back from supporting bozo.

“First On TVNewser: PBS’ Gwen Ifill has broken her ankle after tripping and falling down stairs at her home last night, a NewsHour insider tells TVNewser. We’re told Ifill had been walking up a staircase, carrying research related to her moderating duties at Thursday’s Vice Presidential debate in St. Louis, when she took a wrong step.

We are also told the show will go on: Ifill is planning to travel to Missouri for the big event. “

And, I heard there’s a tax package in the “Rescue Bill”, too. If that’s true, if it’s the Capital Gains Tax being cut (don’t know for sure) that will put more fuel in the tank for the Rep ticket. It will, I think, show that the Reps didn’t settle for something until there was meat for the peeps.

For a country that has celebrated underdogs and stories of ordinary people rising to great achievements, our political aristocracy and self-congratulatory MSM have turned their eyes and ears away from this jewel in the making (Palin) and have done so without shame.

I will pray that she has the strength to speak bluntly about what she doesn’t know and clearly about what she does. As a woman, I pray for this. Not as a former Democrat/Hillary supporter, but for my sisters, my daughers, and my granddaughter.

Ms Kaptur’s video needs to be spread far and wide.
Do we have any contact info out there to the heads of the military branches? Generals need to know what is playing with the lives of their troops. McCain needs to know. Bill and Hillary Clinton need to know. Anyone else you guys can think of?
Oh, and of course as many citizens as possible. Networking across America is the only way to stop the criminal activity in what was our government. It will take all of us together.

Yes, SeattleGirl–they are so blind. And stupid. They actually think we fall for their rantings and ravings against her. They just warmed themselves up with the attacks on Hillary and got away with it. What makes them think anyone will stop them now?

They sink to new lows every day. They talk about her accepting facials as a gift when she was mayor. They mention the tanning bed she paid for herself. The National Enquirer spouts rumors in the checkout line–it’s all so UNREAL.
The president of France cheated on his wife, ditched her after a few months after winning, immediately took up with a glamour girl bimbo, married her, and while his favorability ratings dropped, it was mostly due to his hardline position on increasing the work hours of the average French citizen, (who is used to a lovely 37 hour work day and generous holidays)–not the personal life so much.
I am so sick of the double standard here.

Long-ass post alert! Sorry, found this comment after an Obama article, too hard to find from link.

Does Obama have Narcissistic Personality Disorder?

The following are some of the symptoms of NPD that can be seen in Sen. Obama:

He subtly misrepresents facts, opportunistically shifts positions, ignores data that conflict with his fantasy

world, is overly confident and acts presidential despite commensurate merits and his modest life achievements,

considers himself above the law, talks about himself in the third person, has a messianic vision of himself

and his “mission,” displays false modesty while often evincing haughtiness, sublimates aggression, holds

grudges and behaves as an eternal adolescent. These are narcissistic traits as seen in Sen. Obama by Dr. Sam

Vaknin. The author of “The Malignant Self Love,” Vaknin states, “Barack Obama appears to be a narcissist.”

NPD is the prime disorder experienced by all the madmen of history – from Hitler to Stalin, Mao, Kim, Pol Pot,

Osama, Khomeini, Saddam and Idi Amin. These men wreaked havoc and killed millions. They looked normal. Few

suspected their insanity until it was too late.

Obama shares something else with these infamous narcissists: a chaotic childhood. One determining factor in

the development of NPD is childhood abuse, such as the neglecting of his or her emotional needs.

Read his biographies, look into his troubled past, drug useage and current rheteric he’s spreading.
Remember he’s a reflection of us, such a person compensates his devalued and injured self with puffery,

pomposity and by projecting a false image of majesty and authority. He retreats into a bubble universe of

fantasy, in which he is loved, respected and omnipotent. Again. “The One”, The One we have been waiting for,

the oceans will recide, the earth can be healed. Does this sound like a sound mind?

Like other dictators in history, Obama is setting himself to be well protected and adored by the masses.

He’s readied the member corps to follow him and be loyal subjects to his causes.
Here is a list of a few of these service groups;

Americans for part-time service.
Classroom Corps,Health Corps, Insurance Program, Clean Energy Corps, Veterans Corps, Homeland Security Corps,

let’s also mention the 0 – 5 Program.

Just like other demi-gods or dictators, cradle to grave obedience to him.

If the above doesn’t scare you, then I don’t know what would.

Osaka,

About the VP debate moderator:

Okay, this is what I found out. The Commission on Presidential Debates picks the moderators for the Pres. debate and for the VP debate.

I looked on their site but I couldn’t find out what the commission’s criteria is for the moderator pick. The only criteria that I found was that the panel avoids naming network anchors as moderators because “they are such celebrities”.

I do know that the moderator was picked before the announcement of the VP pick. Interesting note, Gwen Ifill was also the VP moderator in the 2004 election.

Obama’s camp are taking students from dorms to the polls, they are getting transients, people in shelters, i wouldn’t put it passed them if they got names off of graves in cemetaries to vote.

It seems to me McCain needs to step up his campaign. They are not be aggressive enough. I told them today they are not sending enough emails, i.e. obama is sending emails, i got one, which says “Register to Vote”. McCain’s camp should be doing the same and he needs to slam base this guy on some of the dirt we have on him, otherwise he is going to lose. He has to realize that this Obama is a slime and he will do anything, get on his knees and lick snails on the ground. ugh that’s pretty awful :) )

IMOP the MSM is getting pretty nervous because they are all falling in the ratings, except Fox. Now, it will probably get worse because companies are going to pull their advertising as they can’t afford it. It is going to be a bloody battle of the networks. I think they must get a bigger compensation package or bonuses the “edgier” they are, thus these nitwits ( I now include Katie Couric) are fighting to keep their jobs and maybe getting extra perks or $$$.

The head of Pakistan thought she was pretty darn smart and he picked this up in his meeting with her! He totally advocated for women and changed their constitution to be gender-neutral. Nobo could learn how to be more of a man from him.

It is unfair for Gwen Ifill to moderate the VP debate, since she has a great deal to gain from an Obama victory. Her book, titled “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama,” is due to be released on January 20th, 2009, on Presidential Inauguration Day. She will have a blockbuster in all the bookstores if Obama wins.

From Amazon.com editorial review: “In THE BREAKTHROUGH, veteran journalist Gwen Ifill surveys the American political landscape, shedding new light on the impact of Barack Obama’s stunning presidential campaign and introducing the emerging young African American politicians forging a bold new path to political power. ”

It is time for Gwen Ifill to recuse herself from the debate. She has a dog in this fight. There must be an impartial moderator, one who has nothing to lose or to gain. Ifill is rooting for Obama, and banking on an Obama victory.

http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/MediaPlayer/AudioPlayer.aspx?ContentGuid=9c930bbd-2571-4987-bd47-d1862ba390eb
HH: Governor Sarah Palin, welcome to the Hugh Hewitt Show. Great to have you.

SP: Hey, thank you so much. Nice to hear your voice.

HH: Governor, your candidacy has ignited extreme hostility, even some hatred on the left and in some parts of the media. Are you surprised? And what do you attribute this reaction to?

SP: Oh, I think they’re just not used to someone coming in from the outside saying you know what? It’s time that normal Joe six-pack American is finally represented in the position of vice presidency, and I think that that’s kind of taken some people off guard, and they’re out of sorts, and they’re ticked off about it, but it’s motivation for John McCain and I to work that much harder to make sure that our ticket is victorious, and we put government back on the side of the people of Joe six-pack like me, and we start doing those things that are expected of our government, and we get rid of corruption, and we commit to the reform that is not only desired, but is deserved by Americans.

HH: Now Governor, the Gibson and the Couric interview struck many as sort of pop quizzes designed to embarrass you as opposed to interviews. Do you share that opinion?

SP: Well, I have a degree in journalism also, so it surprises me that so much has changed since I received my education in journalistic ethics all those years ago. But I’m not going to pick a fight with those who buy ink by the barrelful. I’m going to take those shots and those pop quizzes and just say that’s okay, those are good testing grounds. And they can continue on in that mode. That’s good. That makes somebody work even harder. It makes somebody be even clearer and more articulate in their positions. So really I don’t fight it. I invite it.

HH: Have you followed the attacks on you, say, via Drudge or the blogs? Some of them are just made up and out of left field, others are just mocking. Do you follow those?

SP: No, I sure don’t, and thank God I don’t have time to follow those. You know, I think that those shots, too, though, no matter what we’re taking and receiving, it’s nothing compared to what real shots are against Americans in this world. Americans today who are worried about losing their home and figuring out how in the world they’re going to pay their fuel bill next month, and send their kid to college, and may be worried about losing a loved one that they’re sending off to a war zone to protect our rights. Those are the shots that Americans are taking, so all this political nonsense and the lies, the rhetoric that is spun out there about someone just trying to offer themselves up in the name of service to this great country, I’ll take it.

HH: Governor, you mentioned the people who are struggling right now. Have you and your husband, Todd, ever faced tough economic times where you had to sit around a kitchen table and make tough choices?

SP: Oh my goodness, yes, Hugh. I know what Americans are going through. Todd and I, heck, we’re going through that right now even as we speak, which may put me again kind of on the outs of those Washington elite who don’t like the idea of just an everyday working class American running for such an office. But yeah, there’s been a lot of times that Todd and I have had to figure out how we were going to pay for health insurance. We’ve gone through periods of our life here with paying out of pocket for health coverage until Todd and I both landed a couple of good union jobs. Early on in our marriage, we didn’t have health insurance, and we had to either make the choice of paying out of pocket for catastrophic coverage or just crossing our fingers, hoping that nobody would get hurt, nobody would get sick. So I know what Americans are going through there. And you know, even today, Todd and I are looking at what’s going on in the stock market, the relatively low number of investments that we have, looking at the hit that we’re taking, probably $20,000 dollars last week in his 401K plan that was hit. I’m thinking geez, the rest of America, they’re facing the exact same thing that we are. We understand what the problems are. It’s why I have all the faith in the world that John McCain is the right top of any ticket at this point to get us through these challenges. It’s a good balanced ticket where he’s got the experience, and he’s got the bipartisan approach that it’s going to take to get us through these challenges. And I have the acknowledgement and the experience of going through what America is going through.

HH: Governor, when you say things are tight right now, is that simply because of Todd being off not working? Or is it because of extraordinary demands on the fiscal resources of the Palin family? What’s the situation there?

SP: No, it’s just the great financial crisis that America is in as our savings accounts also, and a 401K, they’re being hit.

HH: Sure.

SP: Our stocks, you know, they took a hit yesterday. And then of course, just the same thing that other Americans are asking themselves today. We’ve got three teenagers. How are we going to pay for their college education? How are we going to make sure that we’re investing wisely today. We’re putting a lot of faith in other people who are using our money as investments. We have to count on the federal government to be overseeing these agencies and entities, making sure that we’re not going to get screwed on this deal, and that our savings are safe. So there again, John McCain’s got some great ideas on granting authority, for instance, to the FDIC, making sure that our deposits are insured. He wants to increase that deposit insurance cap of all of our money, our savings, from $100,000 dollars up to $250,000 dollars, so that families like mine, so that we don’t have to worry about our money being safe or not under FDIC.

HH: Governor, let’s turn to a couple of issues that the MSM’s not going to pick up. You’re pro-life, and how much of the virulent opposition to you on the left do you attribute to your pro-life position, and maybe even to the birth of, your decision, your and Todd’s decision to have Trig?

SP: Yeah, you know, I think that that’s been probably the most hurtful and nonsensical slap that we’ve been taking is our position that we have taken, pro-life, me personally, and saying that you know, even though I knew that 13 weeks along that Trig would be born with Down Syndrome, and I said you know, he’s still going to be a most precious ingredient in this sometimes messed-up world that we live in. I know that my son is going to provide a lot of hope and a lot of promise in this world, and I’m so thankful of course that I’ve had the opportunity to give him life and to bring him into this world. But I think yeah truly, that that’s been a hurtful slap that we have taken, because people just don’t understand. Ironic too, Hugh, that some would consider my position on life and trying to usher in a culture of life, respecting the sanctity of life in America, that that is seen as an extreme position when to me, an extreme position is one that Barack Obama took when he was in the Illinois State Senate, not even supporting a measure that would ban partial birth abortion, not even supporting a measure that would during, after a botched abortion and that baby’s born alive, allowing medical care to cease and allowing that baby to die. That to me is extreme. That’s so far, far left it’s certainly out of the mainstream of America. To me, that is the extreme position, not my position of just wanting that culture of life to be respected, and not wanting government to sanction the idea of ending life.

HH: Do you think the mainstream media and the left understands your religious faith, Governor Palin?

SP: I think that there’s a lot of mocking of my personal faith, and my personal faith is very, very simple. I don’t belong to any church. I do have a strong belief in God, and I believe that I’m a heck of a lot better off putting my life in God’s hands, and saying hey, you know, guide me. What else do we have but guidance that we would seek from a Creator? That’s about as simple as it gets with my faith, and I think that there is a lot of mocking of that. And you know, so bet it, though I do have respect for those who have differing views than I do on faith, on religion. I’m not going to mock them, and I would hope that they would kind of I guess give me the same courtesy through this of not mocking a person’s faith, but maybe perhaps even trying to understand a little bit of it.

HH: Governor, let’s close with some foreign affairs. It is reported that you had an Israeli flag in your governor’s office. You wore an Israeli flag pin occasionally. One, is that true? And two, why your support for Israel?

SP: Well, it is true, and I ran into Shimon Peres recently at a meeting, and he even pointed that out. He said I saw a picture of you on the internet, and you had an Israeli flag in your state government office, and I said I sure do. You know, my heart is with you. And all of those trials and tribulations throughout history that Israel has gone through, not only does that allow me to want to support that country, but Israel is our strongest and most important ally in the Middle East. And they are a democratic country who I believe deserves our support, and I know that John McCain believes as I do that Israel is our friend, and we need to be there to support them. They are there for us, and I do love that country.

HH: Last question, Governor. Have you and Todd heard from your son? And how is it on your nerves having your son deployed?

SP: That little stinker, I guess he’s called his girlfriend a couple of times, but can you believe he hasn’t called his momma yet? He’s over there. They were just leaving Kuwait heading into Iraq, and I am just so extremely proud of Track, my son, and all of the men and women, of course, serving in the military. I’m proud that my son made this independent and very wise decision as such a young man at 18, deciding you know, he realized there’s something he can do to help, to contribute, to help protect our nation, and I couldn’t be more proud of him and all those who choose to serve in our military. They’re serving for the right reasons. God bless them, God love them.

HH: Governor Sarah Palin, look forward to talking to you again, good luck on Thursday night.

SP: Thank you so much. Talk to you soon.

End of interview.

Gwen Ifill to moderate the VP debate, since she has a great deal to gain from an Obama victory. Her book, titled “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama,” is due to be released on January 20th, 2009, on Presidential Inauguration Day. She will have a blockbuster in all the bookstores if Obama wins.

It is time for Gwen Ifill to recuse herself from the debate. She has a dog in this fight. There must be an impartial moderator, one who has nothing to lose or to gain. Ifill is rooting for Obama, and banking on an Obama victory.

ELECTION 2008
VP debate moderator Ifill releasing pro-Obama book
Focuses on blacks who are ‘forging a bold new path to political power’
© 2008 WorldNetDaily

Gwen Ifill, The moderator of Thursday’s vice-presidential debate is writing a book to come out about the time the next president takes the oath of office that aims to “shed new light” on Democratic candidate Barack Obama and other “emerging young African American politicians” who are “forging a bold new path to political power.”

Gwen Ifill of the Public Broadcasting Service program “Washington Week” is promoting “The Breakthrough,” in which she argues the “black political structure” of the civil rights movement is giving way to men and women who have benefited from the struggles over racial equality.

#369 Sunshinelvr on 10.01.08 at 1:19 am

my letter to Ms Brown…

Ms Ifill has a personal interest at stake in the vice-presidential debates. A positive outcome for the Democrats would possibly enhance the sales of her book, due out in January.
A debate should be non-partisian and fair-minded. Considering the state of the love affair that most of the media is having with Obama, I do not feel that Ms Ifill will meet that criteria.
Lets give the candidates’ debate the old American- ‘win-or-lose-based-on-your-own-merits’ -chance and remove a -more lilkely than not-, completely biased moderator.
Do the right thing and remove Ms Ifill.Thank you

ACORN- that’s definitely the alliance to be further discussed in relation to BO. It’s one more example of his past affiliations and questions his judgment in the past in choosing which people or groups with which to affiliate. There’s clearly a pattern about his affiliations – and it’s a story that needs more attention.

ACORN is something that has been talked about and written about for months but really hasn’t made it as big news stories (except on FOX) – not like the stories that are discussed night after night on all news programs.

I’m not sure that even Democratic elected officials really know or understand about BO & ACORN – not at the depth that they need to know.

Although I had been saying I was going to vote Dem down the ballot (but not the president) – now I feel like if it’s a Dem who is supporting BO and not questioning BO’s ACORN affiliation – then I don’t want that person in office either.

I’m identifying all the Democratic elected officials in my state and sending them a written letter or email explaining that although I have voted as a Dem in the past – I am not voting for BO in Nov. And I’m questioning how they can support BO when he has ties to a group like ACORN. I’m letting them know I will not vote for any one who is supporting a presidential candidate who has this type of long history with a group like ACORN.

It’s clear with this bailout activity that elected officials value being re-elected – so if there’s an issue that they see their constituents do not support then those officials are not going to be so quick to lose a vote.

I think there’s more to this ACORN story than people even know as yet. Have you noticed how quiet BO’s camp is regarding ACORN & his affiliation? You don’t see them rushing out pundits to defend how inaccurate the information is that is being written or discussed.

Remember the other affiliations (the minister, the priest, etc.) and how BO’s pundits were defending him practically every hour on every channel? But not with this ACORN affiliation. It’s almost like the BO camp is hoping if they stay quiet that the story will just disappear and they won’t have to offer any explanation.

The media who support BO are trying to keep the stories focused on Palin which helps to distract voters from BO and ACORN.

Those of us who do not want to see BO be elected can’t let this issue be hidden. be ignored or be buried. We have to keep pushing the ACORN story and asking more questions of the media and elected officials who support BO. It doesn’t require long wordy messages – we just need to keep asking them “what about ACORN & Obama”?

Plus I plan to let FOX know that I want them to stay on this story and to not let up. And when I do find the one news stories on this matter in a newspaper website or on a tv news program that has not covered very much – then I will write or email those publications / networks and let them know I want to hear more about this topic.

I think the ACORN affiliation can change people’s minds about BO. The bailout not passing is actually helpful because there was all the attention about removing the ACORN funding support from the bailout. So ACORN is sort of familiar now at least as a concept – but not necessarily fully understood by many voters. If the news stories can get out to more voters and more politicians – it could be key to slowing down this trend of voters moving toward BO.

The moderator has a book coming out that is pro-Obama. Can you say this is a rigged debate!

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=76645

—————
At least the article is on Fox, so we have to hope the Republican’s and Palin know this is possibly a conflict of interest. At least the moderator is not asking questions with obie.
At some point we have to trust that the Repubs have a million times more information of BOs corruption then we did with Hillary.
I give real kudos to Hillary and Sarah Palin for all the cr@p they have had to go though to try and bust though that steel ceiling. Glass…………..yea right.

Boy, we are getting sidetracked easily. I am amazed at people chasing red herrings like birth certificates and other crap when so many issues stand against Obama. If anything, the certificate might be the bait to get the hounds on the wrong path. Now that’s a conspiracy!

- more taxes
- anti-abortion
- no experience
- you name it.

These are the issues people care about. I couldn’t care less if Sarah was born in Alaska or in Russia, if her heart is in the right place.

#404 Libby on 10.01.08 at 3:09 am

Sent in my emails concerning Ifill and why there is no way she should be moderating a debate when she has already chosen the winner. Her prejudice will influence the debate. If they do not remove her they are also in the very strange position of finding themselves with a moderator who is rendered incoherent due to the pain killers needed for her broken ankle. That should be an embarrassment that they should have thought of themselves.

As a person who grew up in Ohio, and the mother of two kids in college, I am really upset about the Obama buses picking up kids to take them to register and vote on the same day.

THEY ARE COUNTING ON PEER PRESSURE and providing that peer pressure. Shades of Bill Ayers in the 1960′s when he invaded my college campus and created a riot.

If my kids were in colleges in Ohio I would be furious. What if the kid goes along because his friends pressure him? In his heart he may think differently but has lost his vote forever by going along with the crowd and no way to go back and fix it.

If my kids vote for Obama it had better be because they care enough to get themselves registered on their own, get themselves out of bed, and to the voting booth on election day just like everyone else.

Otherwise I would consider it coercion.

Ohio court ruling does disappoint me but it is hardly the first time.

So we may not want to round up senior citizens on election day, but hey, we could offer to drive them to the voting centers and escort them past the ACORN people who will surely show up on election day.

To say that she doesn’t even read is a ridiculous and unsubtantiated statement. I don’t think that someone who graduated as a journalism major doesn’t keep up with her reading.

Morning awake Pumas….I’m prowling this morning. I watching Lou Dobbs rerun and am outraged. My start is with Jennifer Brunner, Secretary of State of Ohio.

Dear Ms. Jennifer Brunner,

I am a lifelong democrat and am outraged that you are allowing early voting in OUR state of Ohio! Not YOUR state, the people’s state! You pulled the wool over the eyes of OHIO.

Your essentially in my opinion giving an unfair advantage for voter fraud or do you have your eyes closed and earplugs in.

I’ll remember you when your term comes up and will make sure everyone I know realizes how you overstepped your position as Secretary of State and I will never vote for you again.

You should be ashamed of yourself. Your job is to protect our state and do what is right. Guess that is too much to ask of you this year during this critical election.

This year thanks to you and others like you I’m voting for McCain on election day.

Your name will go down in history as one of the one’s who helped give the election away. Priceless.

#409 bythelake on 10.01.08 at 4:47 am

My goals today; call congress! stop the bailout! plug up them phone lines! email, call, fax moderator for vp debate.

I watched some coverage of busloads of voters going to polls to vote. Excuse me, what is wrong with this picture!

I never thought I’d live to see the day when our country was so corrupt that it’d make you sick.

#410 bythelake on 10.01.08 at 4:56 am

Prowling;

Janet H. Brown
Executive Director of the Debates Commission

Dear Ms. Brown,

I am deeply concerned that Thursday’s debate between Senator Biden and Gov. Palin will be unfair at most.

It has been brought to my attention that Gwen Ifill, moderator is not without an unbiased opinion. It is without a doubt that she will not be fair in her asking of questions.

Gwen Ifill is soon to release a book on Obama. Who do you think she is voting for? This to me makes her unqualified to ask any questions of anyone. She needs replaced now.

If not this will go down as a manipulated debate with her as moderator. Don’t allow that to happen. Your name Janet Brown will be remembered as the one who didn’t care about fairness.

#442 indy on 10.01.08 at 7:27 am

What I really admire about John McCain is he always does what he thinks is right. No matter what.

That’s also what troubles me now, because in voting what he thinks is right, he could lose the election.

It’s a Catch 22.

I just hope Obama votes for it. That will even the playing field on that issue. But the playing field is certainly not even on every thing else about this election.

I just hope Berg wins his case against Obama. Then everything else will be moot.

Pray.

Guess what, after I wrote the word pray, it dawned on me, McCain supported the surge when everyone else was against it. And it worked.

Maybe God is telling me something.

A medley performance by Ben King, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Enrique Iglesias, and John Lennon.Special appearances by Jewell Hodges “Polished like gold”…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udUBIArW7rk&feature=rela... – 115k

When I finally figure out how to download it was taken off by the person who made it and I really want a copy.

Is there anyway to find out who did the video and is there a way to contact this person. I believe that this video appeared on this blog but who knows Maryland Puma sent me so many I don’t remember where this one came from.

Things sure don’t look good for America. I am very disheartened and I really don’t want to vote for anyone. I am disgusted with politics and our system and wish so much that there was a way we could get Hillary back on the ballot. First, I do not want a bailout. But…….
1. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are gov’t funded I believe and this has to be fixed.
2. The FDIC does need to raise the amount of Insured Funds.
3. 401Ks DO need to be more protection.
4. This should be a “loan” and not a bailout
5. CEOs need to be canned!

just my opinion………….I also think many of us could add to this list. The problem has to be fixed……..IMHO

here is an idea to think about.

gov buys up the bad companies cheap. but the gov now owns the companies.

After the company makes a good profit for the gov., we sell the company back on the stock market. the gov makes a 2nd profit.

This allows the gov to buy up cheap and sell high.

2nd idea.

if my mortgage will sell for 10 cents on the dollar to the billionaires then how come I can not buy my own mortgage for the dime. that is criminal that I am not allowed to bail out.

if everyone in the country could buy out their mortgage cheap the crisis would end.

#454 Bella-Me on 10.01.08 at 7:58 am

Dear Senator McCain,

I am a former Hillary Clinton supporter who is undecided and considering to vote for you in this coming election. I urge you to please do not vote in support of this bail out bill today. It seems the Democrats are ready to lay this entire crisis on the laps of the Republican and the Bush administration, when in fact they dropped the ball.

Senator Obama has remained mute for the sole reason to blame you for its failure. This money will not solve the current crisis. It is like putting a band aide on a bleeding artery. Until the people are held accountable and punished for the corruption this is only going to repeat itself. Senator Obama has received thousands of dollars from Acorn and will continue to. Where is the paragraph in this bill that will give any money to the taxpayer who is struggling to keep their homes out of foreclosure? Where is the help to the taxpayer who has lost their job and who is close to bankruptcy due to the predatory lenders? Why are the victims of this crisis being the ones responsible to bail out the criminals?

With all due respect you say you are a man of reform. Today gives you the opportunity to prove it to the undecided and the Hillary Clinton supporters who are struggling with the decision on if they want to support you and Governor Palin. Vote NO and show us you are a man of your word, and reform is an action word rather than a noun.

I strongly urge you to vote NO on this bill today. I feel you supporting it will be political suicide.

Respectfully,

$99,000 for rent, utilities, accounting fees

Last week, Mrs. Pelosi’s office said the payments to her husband’s firm were perfectly legal, insisting she is compensating her husband at fair market value for the work his firm has performed for the PAC. But ethical watchdogs said the arrangement sends the wrong message.

“It’s problematic,” said Melanie Sloan, executive director of the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a nonprofit ethics and watchdog group. “From what I understand, Mr. Pelosi doesn’t need the money, but this isn’t the issue. … As speaker of the House, it sends the wrong message. Fox news

I feel it is a conflict of interest to allow Gwen Ifill to moderate the Vice Presidential debates considering she has written a book that simply praises Barrack Obama. On Amazon.com you can read, Editorial Reviews: Product Description…. In THE BREAKTHROUGH, veteran journalist Gwen Ifill surveys the American political landscape, shedding new light on the impact of Barack Obama’s stunning presidential campaign and introducing the emerging young African American politicians forging a bold new path to political power.

This shows she could have monetary gain, in the sales of her book, should he become president.

#475 1 Lucky Lady on 10.01.08 at 8:41 am

Gwen Ifill, the moderator for tonight’s Palin-Biden presidential debate has a financial (and personal) interest in the success of Obama’s campaign.

But, as Michelle Malkin notes, there is nothing “moderate” about where Ifill stands on Barack Obama. She’s so far in the tank for the Democrat presidential candidate, her oxygen delivery line is running out.

In an imaginary world where liberal journalists are held to the same standards as everyone else, Ifill would be required to make a full disclosure at the start of the debate. She would be required to turn to the cameras and tell the national audience that she has a book coming out on January 20, 2009 — the same day as the inauguration of the next president of the United States.

The title of Ifill’s book? “Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.” Nonpartisan my foot.

Ifill and her publisher are banking on an Obama/Biden win to buoy her book sales. This moderator, who is expected to treat both sides fairly has grandiosely, declared this the “Age of Obama.”

Ask the Commission on Presidential Debates if Ifill will acknowledge her conflict of interest: 202-872-1020.

And here’s the e-mail address of Janet H. Brown, Executive Director of the Debates Commission: jb@debates.org

#476 NikkisMom on 10.01.08 at 8:42 am

Gwen Ifill, who will moderate Thursday’s only vice presidential debate. Try as she might to deflect questions about her impartiality, her biases — and her conflict of interest — are clear. But don’t you dare breathe a word about any of this. You know what will happen if you do…

RACIST!

Sidenote: TVNewser reports that Ifill has broken her ankle, but she’s still going to do the debate. But will she disclose her conflict of interest? Inquiring minds want to know.

The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama (Hardcover)
by Gwen Ifill (Author)
This title will be released on January 20, 2009.

the author will want obama to get elected so her book will sell. it does not come out even until inaugeration day. so if obama is loser her book will not sell so well.

ABOUT THIS BOOK

In THE BREAKTHROUGH, veteran journalist Gwen Ifill surveys the American political landscape, shedding new light on the impact of Barack Obama’s stunning presidential campaign and introducing the emerging young African American politicians forging a bold new path to political power.

Ifill argues that the Black political structure formed during the Civil Rights movement is giving way to a generation of men and women who are the direct beneficiaries of the struggles of the 1960s. She offers incisive, detailed profiles of such prominent leaders as Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, and U.S. Congressman Artur Davis of Alabama, and also covers up-and-coming figures from across the nation. Drawing on interviews with power brokers like Senator Obama, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Vernon Jordan, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, and many others, as well as her own razor-sharp observations and analysis of such issues as generational conflict and the “black enough” conundrum, Ifill shows why this is a pivotal moment in American history.

THE BREAKTHROUGH is a remarkable look at contemporary politics and an essential foundation for understanding the future of American democracy.

About the Author

GWEN IFILL is moderator and managing editor of Washington Week and senior correspondent of The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. Before coming to PBS, she was chief congressional and political correspondent for NBC News, and had been a reporter for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, and Boston Herald American. She lives in Washington, D.C.

McCain needs to make a bold move. He needs to invite all of the angry and rational ones in both houses to a conference designed to craft legislation that will:

1. remove the people in finance who are responsible for the meltdown from any proffit from the bail out
2. prosecute those who committed crimes
3. work on alternate solutions to minimize costs
4. rewrite all regulations for fannie, freddie, and wall street
5. place FHA in a position to oversee the liquidation of the properties involved (they already have a very well organized and functional unit that does that for FHA repos)
6. Break up the mortgage industry and force massive change in the way business is done
7. Not allow any earmarks
8. Bar community groups, including those in ACORN from participating in mortgage finance in any way
9. Go after ACORN for the fraud they committed
10. put together a good plan and present it to the Congress.

One thing good that has come out of this is that we now have a congress that is paying attention to SOMETHING!

My letter to Senator Nelson. I hope everyone approves.

Dear Senator Nelson,
Thank you for all your hard work for Nebraskans.
I would like to plea with you not to vote for the bailout of those badly directed financial institutions
I am especially angry with Nancy Pelosi and friends who try to maneuver deals when “the people” are asleep. I am particularly upset about the fact that we already subsidize the corrupt ACORN and now Nancy and friends want to increase the amount we tax payers give to ACORN while at the same time ACORN is being investigated for massive fraud.

Nothing in our government seems to make sense anymore.

****
Good “Morning” Proper word usuage is something I love to see used as much as possible. Please do not take this as a criticism–as I understand all Americans are not native-born (and I don’t know if you are or not)and sometimes use the wrong word when another would be more proper. Again, please do not have hurt feelings, this is my pet peeve, not yours. continue using whatever language suits you as there is not a problem understanding your meaning at all.

..the word “mourning” has the following meaning
—1. the act of a person who mourns; sorrowing or lamentation
the word “morning” means the dawning of a new day; a greeting

Crisis shows what makes a candidate great

The bottom line: McCain was right last week when he said the rescue plan was
on course for failure. Had Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi paid more attention to McCain’s warning, heeded his
call for a greater bipartisan spirit and acted on that advice instead of
accusing him of political grandstanding, the headlines in today’s paper
might have been different. At the last minute it was Pelosi, not McCain, who
waved the partisan red flag in a speech prior to Monday’s vote. That likely
doomed the Paulson plan by alienating the GOP ballots Pelosi needed to pass
the bill since she didn’t have enough Democratic votes lined up.

McCain’s astute sizing up of the situation in Washington was just the latest
example of a politician not known for expertise in economic matters proven
to be right at key times on fiscal issues.

Hugh Hewitt: Sarah Palin On Today’s Show

HH: Governor, your candidacy has ignited extreme hostility, even some hatred
on the left and in some parts of the media. Are you surprised? And what do
you attribute this reaction to?

SP: Oh, I think they’re just not used to someone coming in from the outside
saying you know what? It’s time that normal Joe six-pack American is finally
represented in the position of vice presidency, and I think that that’s kind
of taken some people off guard, and they’re out of sorts, and they’re ticked
off about it, but it’s motivation for John McCain and I to work that much
harder to make sure that our ticket is victorious, and we put government
back on the side of the people of Joe six-pack like me, and we start doing
those things that are expected of our government, and we get rid of
corruption, and we commit to the reform that is not only desired, but is
deserved by Americans.

HH: Now Governor, the Gibson and the Couric interview struck many as sort of
pop quizzes designed to embarrass you as opposed to interviews. Do you share
that opinion?

SP: Well, I have a degree in journalism also, so it surprises me that so
much has changed since I received my education in journalistic ethics all
those years ago. But I’m not going to pick a fight with those who buy ink by
the barrelful. I’m going to take those shots and those pop quizzes and just
say that’s okay, those are good testing grounds. And they can continue on in
that mode. That’s good. That makes somebody work even harder. It makes
somebody be even clearer and more articulate in their positions. So really I
don’t fight it. I invite it.

am all for contraception. And I’m all for any preventative measures that are
legal and safe, and should be taken
….

COURIC: Do you believe evolution should be taught as an accepted scientific
principle or one of several theories?

PALIN: Oh, I think it should be taught as an accepted principle. And, you
know, I say that also as the daughter of a school teacher, a science
teacher, who has really instilled in me a respect for science. It should be
taught in our schools. And I won’t ever deny that I see the hand of God in
this beautiful creation that is Earth. But that is not part of a policy or a
local curriculum in a school district. Science should be taught in science
class.

….

But, as for homosexuality, I am not going to judge Americans and the
decisions that they make in their adult personal relationships. I have one
of my absolute best friends for the last 30 years who happens to be gay, and
I love her dearly and she is not my “gay friend,” she is one of my best
friends, who happens to have made a choice that isn’t a choice that I have
made. But I’m not going to judge people.

Rule number 14 of facism
Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections

Lucky Lady and Slyt2:

GREAT IDEA! Just sent the following e-mail to the debate organizer y’all recommended (copied to our PUMA Media List).

The title of Ifill’s book, “Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama”, can in no way be considered to be nonpartisan.

In an imaginary world where liberal journalists are held to the same standards as everyone else, Ms. Ifill would be required to make a full disclosure at the start of the debate (or recuse herself entirely).

She should be required to turn to the cameras and tell the national audience that she has a book coming out on January 20, 2009 — the same day as the inauguration of the next president of the United States.

But this will not be a requirement, will it?

Debate fairness? I think not!

#529 Hispanic4Hillary on 10.01.08 at 9:53 am

I have sent this letter by fax and e-mail to mostly all the republicans and democrats….

Dear

As a taxpayer I urge you to please VOTE NO in support of this bailout bill today.
I do not see why we should have to bailout the idiots who have created this horrendous mess in our country. No bailout should be made until further investigations have been made.
This money will not solve the current crisis. It is like putting a band aid on a bleeding artery. Until the people are held accountable and punished for the corruption this is only going to repeat itself.
This bailout should have more transparency, we should use outside panels to oversee this money and not the current people involved. They are the same ones who caused this mess. There should be no parachutes of any sort. We want to see prosecutions on all those involved with this crisis.
I strongly urge you to vote NO on this bill today. I feel you supporting it will be political suicide. We the taxpayers will remember those who vote for this bailout to help their own political career.

Respectfully,

#530 ChristineRI on 10.01.08 at 10:26 am

Sarah Palin didn’t name any one newspaper or magazine for a reason, to name names would be to validate that print source. It sure as hell doesn’t mean she doesn’t or can’t read. Palin’s interview with Couric said more about the bloodsucking, Obama-kissing media than about Palin.
If someone has already made up their minds about Palin, then it doesn’t matter what she says, she’s toast. I suspect these same people can pretend Obama might be a viable choice.

#531 hillwarrior on 10.01.08 at 10:41 am

That video of the Ohio Rep. is great. Boy is she p*ssed. I loved the hand gestures. The very idea that the same culprits who benefited from and committed this mess are the ones who will craft a “solution” to benefit themselves again is absurd. Yes, something needs to be done–by not by these characters. Transparency!
