Subject: URGENT Dearest One

Bright Greetings Dear American:

I need to ask you to support an urgent and important business relationship with a transfer of funds of great magnitude.

I am Ministry of Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had a crisis that has caused the need for a large transfer of funds of $700 billion dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most profitable to you.

I am working with renowned Mr. Phil Gram, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my replacement as Ministry of Treasury in January. As a Senator of my blelegeaured and beautiful country, you may know him as the dear leader of the American banking deregulation movement of 1990s. This transactin is 100% safe.

This is a matter of great urgency. All you must does is send a blank check. We will be receiving the funds as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names of our close friends because we are constantly under surveillance. My family lawyer advised me that I should look for reliable and trustworthy person who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred.

Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we transfer your commission for this transaction. After I receive you’re information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds.

Wonderful salutations to you cherish friend from Republic of America.

Yours Faithfully,
Minister of Treasury Paulson

Someone explain to me why McCain is dropping like a stone in connection to the failed bail out?

Someone explain to me when the Republicans are going to really push back on Frank and Dodd for their ignoring the impending crisis- when McCain wanted to do something back in I think it was ‘06?

My kool-aide drinking husband had no idea when I brought it up, he continues to blame Bush (at least we are in partial agreement there) but he thinks the democrats are blameless- so please explain this to me- I don’t see out of the same glasses the rest of America seems to-

Can I ask for a prowl?

I have just heard that Nancy Pelosi will not allow an investigation of what happened at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to go forward.

No matter what our political beliefs are, I firmly believe that this is one subject that must be investigated.

I am calling my federal representative and my local newspaper and anyone else I can think of to call for an investigation to be convened as soon as possible.

I am hoping that other Pumas will findi this important to do.

Thanks.

Henry Paulson, our illustrious Treasury Secretary pushing a wall street bailout, was appointed to that position by President Bush in May of 2006. Prior to that time, Paulson was Chairman of Goldman Sachs.

The perceptions of Paulson’s allegiance to Wall Street and his lack have started to surface regarding his role in the current economic crisis. While his interests do seem more aligned to Wall Street than to Main Street, his actions may have a much more personal interest.

When Paulson left Goldman Sachs, he beneficially owned over 3.2 million shares of Goldman Stock. His last SEC form 4 filed in April of 2006 outlines his ownership interests.
http://www.secinfo.com/dnFu6.vG3.htm#1stPage

In the initial stages of the economic crisis, there was much hand wringing over which companies were worthy of rescue and which were not. The government decided to allow Lehman brothers to fail and file for bankruptcy, while concluding that the giant insurer, AIG, was too big to fail. An $85 billion rescue package was promptly awarded to AIG to allow them to continue their existence.

But the events leading up to AIG’s rescue are very enlightening.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/28/business/28melt.html?em

“Two weeks ago, the nation’s most powerful regulators and bankers huddled in the Lower Manhattan fortress that is the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, desperately trying to stave off disaster.

As the group, led by Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr., pondered the collapse of one of America’s oldest investment banks, Lehman Brothers, a more dangerous threat emerged: American International Group, the world’s largest insurer, was teetering. A.I.G. needed billions of dollars to right itself and had suddenly begged for help.

One of the Wall Street chief executives participating in the meeting was Lloyd C. Blankfein of Goldman Sachs, Mr. Paulson’s former firm. Mr. Blankfein had particular reason for concern.

Although it was not widely known, Goldman, a Wall Street stalwart that had seemed immune to its rivals’ woes, was A.I.G.’s largest trading partner, according to six people close to the insurer who requested anonymity because of confidentiality agreements. A collapse of the insurer threatened to leave a hole of as much as $20 billion in Goldman’s side, several of these people said.”

So the only private sector attendee at the the AIG deliberations with the New York Federal Reserve just happened to be Paulson’s successor at Goldman Sachs. And, as it turned out, Goldman Sachs stood to lose $20 billion in the event of an AIG failure.

But who else other than Paulson had in interest in insuring Goldman’s interests were protected here? Well, here’s another surprise – the one and only Jim Johnson. Yes that Jim Johnson, the former CEO of Fannie Mae, the former head of Obama’s vice presidential search committee, and the current Obama campaign adviser. That Jim Johnson:

http://www2.goldmansachs.com/our-firm/about-us/leadership/board-of-directors.html#JamesA.Johnson

“Mr. Johnson has been a Vice Chairman of Perseus, L.L.C., a merchant banking and private equity firm, since April 2001. From January 2000 to March 2001, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson Capital Partners, a private investment company. From January through December 1999, he was Chairman of the Executive Committee of Fannie Mae, having previously served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from February 1991 through December 1998 and its Vice Chairman from 1990 through February 1991. Mr. Johnson has been a director of Goldman Sachs since May 1999. Mr. Johnson is on the boards of the following public companies in addition to Goldman Sachs: Forestar Real Estate Group, Inc., KB Home and Target Corporation.”

For the record, Johnson has 44,600 stock options in Goldman Sachs, with another 15,864 restricted stock units (page 35 http://www2.goldmansachs.com/our-firm/investors/financials/current/proxy-statements/2008-proxy-statement.pdf)

So, Paulson has a direct financial interest in the AIG bailout by virtue of his stock ownership in Goldman Sachs. The Obama campaign could not suffer another Jim Johnson scandal if Johnson, after running Fannie Mae into the ground, also turned up on the Board of Directors of another threatened financial institution.

My, oh, my!

Thank you! I had a theory this morning and did a little digging (well it did take some time). I was wondering that if Paulson was the Chairman og Goldman, he must have some stock tucked away. “Some” indeed. At over $100 a share, that is quite a nest egg to protect.

Andy Martin, who wrote “Obama, the Man Behind the Mask” has a website: ContrarianCommentary.com He holds sidewalk news conference every day and more. He also sends out e-mails every day if you are signed up. I sent John McCain one of his letters today that stated if McCain doesn’t go on the offensive, he is dead meat. Also, that MCCain should take the lead and vote NO on the new bailout as it is still a giveaway. I’m not posting his e-mails as they are extremely lengthy but go to his website. ContrarianCommentary.com Read what he says about the debate between O & McCain.

Kind of off topic, but on my mind. This is from a Samantha Powers interview back in March.

“Obama has talked a lot about the importance of moving away from electocracy,” she says, trying to move on to more comfortable territory, and suggesting that the way people actually live is more important than the “reification of elections”.

“In terms of how radical the shift will be, I think it’s very hard. There’s going to be a huge foreign service and civil service that he will inherit, senators and congressmen who have already been elected. So I think he is one guy, trying to steer this ship of cacophonous agendas into a new place.”

“Unlike Clinton, Biden Gets Pass for Saying He Was ‘Shot At’ in Iraq”

“When Hillary Clinton told a tall tale about “landing under sniper fire” in Bosnia, she was accused of “inflating her war experience” by rival Democrat Barack Obama’s campaign.

But the campaign has been silent about Obama’s running mate, Joe Biden, telling his own questionable story about being “shot at” in Iraq.

“Let’s start telling the truth,” Biden said during a presidential primary debate sponsored by YouTube last year. “Number one, you take all the troops out – you better have helicopters ready to take those 3,000 civilians inside the Green Zone, where I have been seven times and shot at. You better make sure you have protection for them, or let them die.”

Gallup Poll Analysis for Caracal Carrie

I sent a detailed analysis of Gallop Poll Dem/Repub sampling to Caracal Carrie for posting on her site. I did find an error in my previous calculations indicating the bias for BO was 30%, it was actually around 23% for the week of September 15-21.

They have been sampling more Democrats than Republicans for all of the last two months. This is shown in the following as the factor B, for

Dems = A x Ind + B x Repub

Week A B
9/15-21 0.08 1.23
9/8-14 0.07 1.12
9/1-7 0.07 1.17
8/25-31 0.04 1.24
8/18-24 0.02 1.33
8/11-17 0.05 1.24
8/4-10 0.01 1.18

The most disturbing thing is an obvious correlation between McCains numbers and the bias in the sampling.

What’s wrong with Murphy?

Now you slap me in the face?

Phil Gramm .. spreading Obama propaganda here?
Can you throw in the keys to the whitehouse too?

I TOTALLY AGREE!!! I so want to prevent Obama from getting into the White House but I am soooooo frustrated with the McCain campaign. Obama is holding rallies everyday — he was in Nevada today. Where was McCain? The last GOP rally was on Monday in Columbus and there is none listed coming up soon in the McCain website. WHAT IS GOING ON???

Dick Morris said it right this afternoon on Fox — McCain is losing this election as we speak… And Morris is a McCain supporter!!!

I have not met a single person in my workplace who is voting for McCain — I am alone! And I am in Texas!

I hate to be so pessimistic but I am beginning to think that unless a miracle happens, Obama is going to be the 44th POTUS :( :(:( What a tragedy!

#98 murphy on 09.30.08 at 5:21 pm

hispanic4hillary — that’s what Town Hall Debates are all about. Are you surprised that BO always, always declines to participate in Town Halls?

It is entirely the same as George Bush.

@#95 murphy:

An Obama supporter wrote that post you posted.

We’ve been trying to get it out to the media about Obama’s huge connections to ACORN, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Franklin Raines, et al.

Phil Gramm is what the Obama supporters refer to as McCain’s connection to this economic crisis.

They also ignore that McCain co-sponsored a bill in 2005 called the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act to warn against this disaster.

All the videos pumas have been posting on ACORN and this economic crisis have been making the rounds online. I’ve been posting stuff like this:

From : http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/house-limits-constituent-e-mails-to-prevent-crash-2008-09-30.html

“By Jordy Yager
Posted: 09/30/08 01:16 PM [ET]
The House is limiting e-mails from the public to prevent its websites from crashing due to the enormous amount of mail being submitted on the financial bailout bill.

As a result, some constituents may get a ‘try back at a later time’ response if they use the House website to e-mail their lawmakers about the bill defeated in the House on Monday in a 205-228 vote.

“We were trying to figure out a way that the House.gov website wouldn’t completely crash,” said Jeff Ventura, a spokesman for the Chief Administrative Office (CAO), which oversees the upkeep of the House website and member e-mail services.

The CAO issued a “Dear Colleague” letter Tuesday morning informing offices that it had placed a limit on the number of e-mails sent via the “Write Your Representative” function of the House website. It said the limit would be imposed during peak e-mail traffic hours.

“This measure has become temporarily necessary to ensure that Congressional websites are not completely disabled by the millions of e-mails flowing into the system,” the letter reads.

Ventura likened the problem to a bottleneck scenario on a highway, where multiple lanes of traffic converge into a smaller set of lanes. In that situation, some cars get to move forward while others have to remain at a standstill.

“What we had to do was basically install the digital equivalent of a traffic cop,” Ventura said. “It was a question of inconveniencing everybody or inconveniencing some people some of the time, while servicing other people the other half of the time.”

Member offices began to notice an overwhelming number of e-mails last week as the economy roiled and the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, or “bailout package,” became of interest to millions of Americans. All the clogs in the traditional e-mail service have since been resolved, according to the CAO.

However, Ventura ventured that the problems on the House website might not be resolved until the economic package was finalized.

“We think we will see this spike [in Web traffic] until when and if another bill is hammered out,” Ventura said. “There’s going to be a lot of interest in this all week.”

The error message in its entirety reads:

“The House of Representatives is currently experiencing an extraordinarily high amount of e-mail traffic. The Write Your Representative function is therefore intermittently available. While we realize communicating to your Members of Congress is critical, we suggest attempting to do so at a later time, when demand is not so high. System engineers are working to resolve this issue and we appreciate your patience.”

I have one foot inside the bail out plan and one foot outside of it.

I honestly don’t know what would be the best idea.

I get skeptical when Bush wants something, and even more distrustful of the bail out because of the democrats, Fannie and Freddie and ACORN.

It’s like…we would be helping Obama both ways. Course, I don’t know if we would really get hurt without a bail out either.

It just plain sucks because I do not have faith in the government at all anymore.

Hello everyone,
I’m including an article from the conservative magazine “American Thinker.” That line, “Now it’s our party: we bought it, we own it, and we are going to take it back” is a perfect illustration of the attitude that made the corruption in the Democratic Party primaries possible. After all, how dare HC think she could have any say in the Democratic Party when she isn’t even part owner. What was she (and we as her supporters) thinking, that we live in some kind of democracy?

I saw George Soros on the BBC about a week ago and he didn’t look too pleased. I would think he would be ecstatic. He now pretty much owns the Democratic Party and if things go as he planned he will get to control the most powerful country in the world. Oh well, I guess some people don’t know how to enjoy their success.

———————
“How allies of George Soros helped bring down Wachovia Bank”
American Thinker
9/30/08

“The Sandlers have started to invest their billions of dollars politically, in the manner of George Soros, sugar daddy of many far-left wing groups and an early and prominent supporter of Presidential candidate Barack Obama. Soros has developed an empire of so-called 527 groups, putatively independent political activists groups that have influence within the Democratic Party. These 527 groups include the Center for American Progress, MoveOn.Org, Human Rights Watch, Media Matters and a slew of other like-minded groups .

This set of political organizations also includes the International Crisis Group, whose foreign policy staff is likely to contain the embryonic future of the State Department in an Obama Administration . Eli Pariser, who heads MoveOn.Org, boasts about his group’s role in the Democratic Party:

‘Now it’s our party: we bought it, we own it, and we are going to take it back.’

They have already done so, in large measure.

The top four donors to these 527 groups in the last Presidential election cycle (2004) were Soros, Peter Lewis of Progressive Insurance, Steven Bing, and Herbert and Marion Sandler . Collectively they gave 78 million dollars to left-leaning 527 groups. That was just in 2004. They have become much more ambitious over the last few years.” http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/09/how_allies_of_george_soros_hel.html

#119 catsrlove on 09.30.08 at 5:42 pm

I e-mailed our paper today because of a vicious letter
about John McCain. This dip actually said, ” What has McCain done? He got shot down costing us a $50M plane. Then he spent 5 years as a POW. Big Deal.”

I went crazy and really let him have it. My husband won’t speak to me for two days or so. Sorry, but I stand up for my principles.

There are only two signs that I have seen: one in front of my Doctor’s office, and on the way back from the hospital there was a small sign. What is going on? This is the most important election in my lifetime.

Three or so threads down, I said how upset I was that the “bailout failed”. Most of you were very happy. I still do no understand that.

You think it will just hurt the billionaires? They have so much money, they won’t even notice.

It is the middle class that will take the hit on this. I look at this through my daughter’s eyes. She has a mortgage. What if the bank that holds her mortgage and many others fail? She won’t be able to find a bank to refinance it…

What if the bank that holds my granddaughter’s college fund fails? She just started college in September.

I feel we are headed for a BIG depression..

John, if you have an October surprise, you better let it out now. They are blaming John for the defeat of the bailout. His party caused it to fail.

John’s numbers are dropping like a rock. We are going to end up with that inexperienced nobama as President. Maybe he’ll give his terrorist friend a position in his cabinet.

My friends, this is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

hey guys… i was wonderin… does anybody know if Chelsea is campaigning for Obamessiah?

#128 LandiPUMA on 09.30.08 at 5:53 pm

I think the “viral email” Murphy posted is funny and has potential for a good viral email we can send out (w/some changes)… but I just don’t see how this one can help us in trying to defeat BO.

Phil Gramm is (was?) a campaign adviser for McCain that some (esp the Left) blame as a main culprit the financial crisis (the subprime meltdown)… so the “letter” seems to be kind’a “anti” McCain, by implication.

I’ll read it more carefully later when I have more time… but is there something I’m not seeing here?

It just doesn’t seem to help in our efforts to defeat BO.

UPDATE: I was about to post this and saw that others have made a point similar to mine.

I SUGGEST WE TAKE IT AND MAKE A FEW CHANGES THAT IMPLICATE BO & HIS FINANCIAL ADVISORS & cronies AND DONORS (Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae) IN THE FINANCIAL CRISIS… AND SEND IT OFF VIRALLY
