Lovely.

From comments this morning:

obamamama

wpburns4@msn.com | 10.3.57.86

Y’all are a bunch of racist, disgusting, despicable morons.
McCain is a senile douch who has picked a running mate that charged women for rape kits. You think Hillary is happy about that?! McBush is tanking, Obama 08!!!

From Does He Do It On Purpose?, 2008/09/29 at 4:16 AM

Although Nitwit doesn’t know how to spell “douche,” I have a feeling he knows EXACTLY what it means and savors using it to degrade people. Isn’t the liberal underbelly pretty?

In other news, the Billionaires’ Bailout heads to the House this morning. GWB was up EARLY this morning talking to reporters and warning the Congress and the country to wake up and smell the $80-dollar a pound coffee. Heckuva job, Bushie!

Watch this ONE MINUTE SMACK-DOWN in the House! woo-hoo! (thanks to Jawbone at Corrente)

Krugman gives Obama tepid support for NOT GETTING IN THE WAY (inspired yet?), and hammers McCain for being reckless and misguided. The next 24-48 hours will be VERY interesting — watch for both sides to be scrambling to both claim credit for AND reject the plan. Obama called the current plan “an outrage, an outrage” and then said he’d vote for it on Wednesday. Huh? McCain is regrouping. Which means he’s losing ground. It’s the Independents who matter to the candidates this week. The basic question for them is:

Who do you trust more to rescue and grow the economy? Barack Obama or John McCain?

David Sirota has a good primer on why the plan stinks, HERE (thanks to Lambert at Corrente). Obama loses this one politically if he appears to be out of his league and/or uninterested (he is both). McCain loses this one politically if he appears short-fused and blustery.

Bottom line for us: HARRY THE DEMOCRATS! We need to call, call, call our reps in Congress and tell them to STOP THE BAILOUT!! Call Obama’s Campaign and insist that he impose safeguards for homeowners.

Our job is to try to force Obama’s lofty hand. It’s not that we don’t want him to pull another FISA on us. In fact, we want to force him to pull another FISA. He must stand up and lead or step OUT OF THE WAY.

Read the full text of the Billionairz’ Bailout bill HERE (The Sunlight Foundation from our lovely ACTION Center). Call Congress now! Repeatedly!

Call one of these Toll Free Capitol Hill switchboard #’s:

1-800-828-0498
1-866-340-9281

A nice person answers the phone. Tell the name of your rep. and state. You’ll be connected to the reps’ aide who will take your comments.

I am re-posting this because I think it is important.

PUMAs,

A WARNING:

In concert with the Obama Truth Squad, the Dems are making rumbles about bring back the Fairness Doctrine.

The Fairness Doctrine meant TV and radio MUST present both sides of an issue. If you had a Dem for a guest, you had to have a Republican. Sounds great? It wasn’t. And was repealed.

If the Dems bring it back, they will be muffling talk radio. They would essentually shut down Hannity, Limbaugh, even Air America.

What if they went further to include the internet? Could that happen? Who knows? I don’t trust them.

Remember Obama mentioned in a speech he wants to establish a Civilian National Security Force. That would probably be what we now call the Obama Truth Squad.

After Obama mentioned the Security Force in a speech, his campaign squelched him talking about it anymore. I think they don’t want to tip their hand, that if Obama is elected they will set up this Security Force and bring back the Fairness Doctrine. THIS WILL PUT A MUZZLE ON FREE SPEECH. This will be a Police State.

We must not let the Fairness Doctrine be re-instated and we have to convince voters NOBAMA!!!

Here’s the article about re-instating the Fairness Doctrine:

He testified on Sept. 24th at a joint House Administration and House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing on “Federal, State and Local Efforts to Prepare for the General 2008 Election,” where he highlighted “corruption at every level of ACORN including embezzlement, cover-ups, misuse of taxpayer funds and voter fraud.”

Yes he did bring up the bracelet they were asking him questions and they said about that and Robert Gibbs said that wasn’t true about the parents and Brian said yes it was. Robert said you are just making things up and listening to false emails, Brian said NO sir we are not we have articles and interviews from parents and Gibbs said check out the AP article and stop making things up. Brian said are you saying we are lying and Gibbs said you are lying and Brian got pissed and said no we are not you are lying. Well they looked it up and I don’t know what the heck Gibbs was talking about because the article backed up the fact the parents don’t want him doing it.(BO).

TT,

Yeah, I just turned on FOX and in the last few minutes they brought up ACORN and Obama’s “Truth Squads “undermining ‘free speech’ in America.” Thank the Lord for FOX!

Meanwhile this morning CNN is playing up the “iminent downfall of Sarah Palin.” (my words, not theirs, but that’s the drift of their tune this morning)

Funny thing, I was reading a book last night called, “Firing Back,” and the authors were describing how it was CNN that was particularly snarky when Martha Steward had all her legal troubles some years back. They were all gloating and salivating about her demise, predicting she was finished, her business was down the tubes and she’d never “come back.” Well, she did. She came back and she rebuilt her business and she’s doing better than she was before the troubles began. Not a word from the snarky, envious, hateful numnuts at CNN. Seems to be a recurring pattern at CNN. Maybe they should rename themselves the “Snarky Loser Network.”

#18 john on 09.29.08 at 9:51 am

How about we forget the party labels and put America first . As for the democrats how can you support a party that abused you and your candidate. You know women ask men to stand up for them speak out against misogyny, but how do we stand up for you when you wont stand up for yourselves. If you vote Obama knowing all that he and the democratic party has done and allowed to be done to women, how do you then asked us to take you serious? It’s time you ladies take a stand either you’ve had enough and want let anyone or party treat you like this or you’re just pretending to not like the abuse you witness on Hillary and Sarah, it’s you’re call.

“I just heard on the radio the CBC has issued a public apology for Heather Mallick’s
article on Palin and the sexist content. They said the apology was given in response
to the large number of complaints CBC received to the article. This is great. One
more small step to conquering sexism. Excellent work. I’ll blog it when I get into

Want to really get one over on the media and put it in their face about how biased they are?

I just sent these emails to our local media in Missouri and the national media. The critical point here is what you need to put in the SUBJECT line. :)

SUBJECT: McCain campaign asking Missouri law enforcement to target misleading TV ads-Police state tactics

Dear Sirs:

This type of activity is a threat to our freedom of speech rights!

http://www.kmov.com/video/index.html?nvid=285793&shu=1

Gov. Matt Blunt’s response to these tactics:

#26 NikkisMom on 09.29.08 at 9:56 am

It’s time to roll up our sleeves and pull the same tactics on the media. Do the same thing to get attention to these videos:

Put this in the SUBJECT line of your emails:

SUBJECT: Documented proof that REPUBLICANS covered up for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

Dear Sirs:

These YouTube videos of CSPAN during House meetings are being published on the internet. They present a clear picture of how the republicans- in their own words – covered up for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

You are absolutely right. But please be assured, there are many “ladies” out here in the real world who are NOT “taking it.” Not now, not ever. It doesn’t matter who’s doing it, Republican, Democrat, Man, Woman, Liberal Phony, Conservative, Pseudo-Feminist, Male Chauvinist Pig, etc. We are NOT taking it and will fight it with every ounce of our being!

———

Labels like Republican, Democrat, etc. mean nothing in this election. Behaviors count. And from my vantage point this election, voting Democrat IS voting Republican.

The “Democratic Party” no longer represents MY DEMOCRATIC VALUES. That’s why I’m happily and guiltlessly voting REPUBLICAN. Call me whatever name you want. I couldn’t care less. I know what I am and I know what I stand for and it sure doesn’t include any of the values or practices I see in the Democratic Party of 2008!

I keep close to my heart the fact that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. So was Teddy Roosevelt. I can live with that. Sure beats the Obama Police State, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, even Chuck Schumer (who’s now morphed into a mindless Obama shill), etc. etc……

Further , Obama has enlisted Stalinist tactics in Mo. In order to silence any opposition to his campaign via the use of Law enforcement based ‘Truth Squads’

The Truth Squads directive is to bring legal action against any one who spreads ‘misleading statements ‘ about the Democratic candidate ! If you have been following the election you know that Obama calls ANY statement that doesn’t show him favorably “misleading’ . WTF ??????

——————————————————————————–

Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

Good morning Pumas,
I have not been blogging but I have been prowling some with you and some on my own. I read the blogs every day and I feel that I know all of you. Yesterday I read about someone leaving the Pumas because we are not doing enough prowling.
I hope no none will leave as we are all here for the same reason and that is to let the american people know what a threat OB is to our country and if he wins, we are in deep s###! I am a democrat and a strong Hillary supporter. I want to over-through OB, bring Hillary back. I know I am a dreamer, but anything goes in this election. I think we should keep putting out everything neg. reg. OB. Media esp. in the states he needs to win. We are not going to give up the fight. Obama must go down and we are fighters! I have been very proud of the work us Pumas have been doing. looking back…..
Yes..we have made a difference and we can make a difference, but must stay united and we must hit Ob.s and his goonies right where it hurts! We must ruin his reputation and expose him for what he is and not let him win. Look what they are doing to Palin! Let’s turn the tables to Ob. I don’t know why we can’t
chat and fight, fight, fight. Let us make a difference
and let them know… We are here, we will fight and we will not…. go away!! United we stand! United we fight! Go Pumas go!!!! Lets hit them with all we have
and sit back and chat about how good it felt!!!
United we win! Go Pumas Go!! Bring out those claws!!

Stand up!
Stand up to one who would put a woman under thumb

Stand up, stand up, stand up
Stand up for the Mothers, sisters, and daughters
It is the strength of them that taught you how to stand.

Woot Texas! and we have great aim!

#48 john on 09.29.08 at 10:17 am

Deepsouth women and your right not all say to me and I am sure many men why don’t men to speak out about sexism. That should be something we do without being asked, but when we witness the abuse of women and they return to the abuser or the party that abuse them we are reluctant to speakout of stand up. Many say whats the use because the are just going to return anyway. So what I was saying until women ( the majority) has had enough to not go back to their abuser not will be accomplished. I hope I clear it up?

The Kenyan citizenship, IF he allowed it to expire at age 18, isn’t the issue to me. Can we really tell US kids who have foriegn fathers that they’re not eligible to be president? I’m not sure if I agree with that.

It’s the Indonesian citizenship he may have had and may have used as late as 1994.
He lived in Indonesia for 3 months in 1994 while writing his book.
He traveled to Indonesia in 1981, and from there to Pakistan for “around 3 weeks”. It was difficult for Americans to travel to Pakistan in 1981, but easy for
Indonesians, because they are both Muslim countries.

Was he adopted by his mother’s 2nd husband, Lolo Soetorro? Did he have Indonesian citizenship when he lived there as a child? Does he still have it?
Hawaii seals the original birth certificates when there is an adoption. Did his father come back to Hawaii for a month when Barack was 11 for the purpose of re-adopting him?

He had posted a bc on his “fight the smears” website, many computer experts claimed it was a forgery.
That B.C. was taken off the site a few weeks before his Hawaii trip, when he returned, a different one was posted on the site.
An adoption by his stepfather may be what he’s trying to hide, not that he wasn’t born in the USA.

The repubs may not want to address this because he’s the only Dem candidate they have a shot of winning against. The Dems probably know and will just issue a resolution once he’s in, that’s the reason they did the totally pointless one for McCain.

#57 mick on 09.29.08 at 10:23 am

“Martial law” refers to a rule which allows a law to pass quicker than usual.

#58 Gogandalf on 09.29.08 at 10:24 am

LOVELY is right – these people are scary – we better be prepared when their GOLLUM loses -

Good Morning Pumas – some bits and pieces from Rasmussen today – Gollum 50 – McCain 45 –
Obama leads by fifteen points among women but trails by six among men.
Obama and McCain are essentially even among White Women, a constituency that George W. Bush won by eleven points four years ago.
Obama leading in states with 200 Electoral College votes while McCain has the edge in states with 174 votes. When “leaners” are included, Obama leads 255-227

COME ON LADIES – we have to defeat this man —-

#46 Caracal Carrie

Thank you for posting that poem, Carrie. It summarizes exactly how I feel on the topic.

The only way any kind of prejudice has ever been defeated is when ALL decent-minded people (including those in the “oppressive” group) band together to fight the injustice. I don’t see it as an insult to women to acknowlege that BOTH men AND women are necessary to fight sexism. Just like I don’t see it as a sign of any “weakness” in Blacks or any other minority group that the support of all races is necessary to successfully overcome any racism.

Yeah, it would be nice if one group could reverse the horrors of whatever injustices are out there all by themselves, but I’ve never seen it.

And the one thing I hate more than the original prejudices by the oppressing groups IS when the “oppressed” group bands with the oppressor. Women who don’t stand up for other women fall into this category. I second Madelaine Albright’s words (not an exact quote, but here’s the jist : “There’s a special place in hell for women who sexistly undermine other women.”

#62 Headclunker on 09.29.08 at 10:27 am

John,

The bad treatment from the Dems goes beyond sexist discrimination. It is unAmerican to discount the vote of the majority. The Party is 54% female and the Superdelegates who selected Obama were 36% female. There was obvious sexist bias in the votes. Essentially, the Party is exploiting the female vote. So is that sexist or unAmerican? Both. So how do you rebel? I say, as an American first, a woman second and a Democrat last. That is not to disagree with you, but to point out that priorities should not be set in retalliation for what we think is mistreatment. I love my country. I want it back.

John,
Just a note that I want to add.
Standing up against wrong shouldn’t be dependant on whether the recipients of the wrong stand up for themselves. You stand up against wrong because it’s the right thing to do.

#75 john on 09.29.08 at 10:39 am

Headclunker, excellent points, but I learned it’s hard to change a corrupt institution. The democrat party has committed election fraud, it has treated a great lady with no respect all because she chose to run, they allowed the best president imo of my time Bill Clinton to be label racist, they’ve told rural Americans we don’t want, we think less of you but, we need your vote. Right now the dems are driven by greed, and the people are just the tool to help them obtain there greed. I will never tell anyone how to vote , but my morals and my principle are a lot deeper than my party

#77 Asian4Hillary on 09.29.08 at 10:43 am

What John had stated is NOT sexist, it is right on your face. The problem with some women they don’t want to hear the truth. I agree with John, if women in this country cannot unite to stand up for themselves, never expect majority of men to stand up for your cause.

Even in this blog I see friction, and majority of bloggers here are women, think outside of the internet. Fact is fact, denial of the fact doesn’t make it false.

Asian, I don’t think they believe i am sexist, I hope they don’t. I think maybe I said it a little to harsh you think?
I assure you it wasn’t my intention to offend anyone. Most of the ladies here such as yourself are wise and wisdom will prevail as it always does at PUMApac. Sometimes being a man ( not making excuses) I don’t always soften the tone and I think that’s where we got a little bit of friction. Still this is the best group of folks that I’d like to be in a foxhole with.

34 john
(1) Murphy sexist me? no I was just pointing out that (2) women cannot asked men to stand up for them if they want stand up for themselves (3) and I am sure many women here agree with that statement. I am a realist and reality cannot always be sugar coated right? It was not meant to offend and hope no offense was take but as they say (4) the truth can cut like a double edge sword.

1- Please don’t take umbrage at being accused of sexism. I have yet to meet a non-sexist person. The difference is in those who cultivate their sexist views and behaviors, and those who recognize it in themselves and work through it.

2- You’re speaking here as if women are a monolithic entity. We aren’t. We’re individuals. And, you do not get to decide what women can or cannot ask.

3- Using this device falls flat. It isn’t wise to assume that women, or anyone else, agree with your statements.

4- As soon as someone utters the T word (Truth), that’s usually the first lie.

I believe you didn’t mean your statements to be offensive.

#85 Asian4Hillary on 09.29.08 at 10:55 am

#82 john

What you’ve stated was NOT offensive, you’re just being direct to the point. I don’t believe in cajoling my own gender, I don’t believe in pandering; say it as is. I’ve experienced this John in another when I was fighting for a cause greater than myself, guess who wanted to stop me – women! If women in this country wanted to be taken seriously, they better stop the me me thing and start saying US. They have yet to learn whatPRAGMATISM is.

Morning all,
I’m quoting Dr. Lynette Long who is writing in regards to why she is not voting for the Dem pres. candidate this year. She is actually responding to why, as a feminist, she would vote for a Republican. I don’t wholly agree with her, but I understand her points.

“I will not be held hostage by a Democratic Party that has never had a female head of the DNC.

I will not be threatened into submission. I will not cast my vote based on fear.

The Democratic Party cannot be rewarded for its pervasive disrespect of women. Sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. Sometimes you have to tear down a house before you can rebuild it. Most feminists think the Democratic Party will treat them differently during the next election. There is no next time. There is only this time. Reinforcing abuse only perpetuates abuse. In any abusive relationship, you have to leave to get respect. Abusers are often charming and apologetic and hold out the hope of better behavior. But there is no then, there is only now.
I am a woman and I am a feminist. To the other feminists out there I ask, ‘Where is your pride or are you a victim of your own misogyny?’

I am a woman and right now I am ashamed to say, I am a feminist.”

BTW, I saw Bill Clinton speak last night at the 92nd St Y, mostly about philanthropy in the 21st century and his Clinton Global Initiative. He was fabulous as always. And to those of you to whom such things matter: He was wearing a fuchsia tie – definitely more RED than blue. His shirt was sort of a greyish pale slate-blue, definitely the “blue” overpowered by the fuchsia red tie. :)

At the end of the talk, he answered questions submitted on notecards from the audience and selected by the moderator.

There was one question about the election. Just one. I was very disappointed to hear him voice support for Barack Obama. The usual obligatory stuff. Despite the surface “enthusiasm” he tried to express, it really fell kind of flat to me. (OK, I’m biased). His heart just didn’t seem into it. Afterwards he put his head down for a moment. (Asking God to forgive him?) Towards the end of his answer he talked about McCain….mainly as an afterthought, but when he “tried to give McCain credit” for what he thought McCain deserved credit for, he sounded like his old self. His comments sounded real and heartfelt. He mentioned how McCain and Hillary had worked together on issues and gave a particular example of a trip taken they took together working on environmental/energy issues.

After the talk was over and everyone had “left the building” I happened on a side entrance to the building where I saw a group of people standing around a couple of black SUVs. Apparently, Bill had just left the building and gotten into one of the SUVs. (Damn, I missed seeing him up close and personal by about 15 seconds!) I asked this young guy, standing near me, talking on cell phone and very well-dressed in a well-tailored, expensive suit, “Did you see him?” He answered, “I work for him!”

I was speechless. LOL. Had a million questions I wanted to ask the guy, like, “Hell, what do you do for him?” etc. But just too overwhelmed to say anything else to him right then. Luckily, this guy, along with 3 others just like him, were walking right ahead of me on the way to the subway…..(I walked slow, so I could overhear what they were saying, LOL.) Finally, as I got to my subway stop and crossed the street, I saw the guy right behind me, approaching me,….(Maybe he sensed I wanted to talk to him). So, I did. I asked him, “So, tell me. What do you do for him?”

Turns out the guy is “press.” A very nice guy. He was very sweet. I told him it makes me crazy to hear Bill defend Obama and voice support for him. I said, “How can he do it!!!?” Well, this message is getting too long. I apologize for that…..but anyway:

I told the guy how can he do it given all the Caucus fraud in the South, with them calling him a “racist,” etc. I said, “What’s happened to the Democratic Party?” They’ve become a bunch of fascists! The Republican Party has become “our friends.” He mentioned that “they” had not asked Bill to campaign for “them” till last week. He (i.e. Bill)’s doing what he thinks he should. Just like Hillary is too. And still they complain that Hillary isn’t doing enough…… I said, “Yeah I know. Hillary’s done more than any other candidate ever has in her position.” He said, “Yeah, but if he loses, they’re going to blame Bill and Hillary.” The guy was sympathetic. He didn’t seem to disagree with my criticism of the DP, although he was treading very carefully in what he said in response. But as the old saying goes: “He did say a lot just by what he DIDN’T say.” We finally parted and he very sweetly touched my arm and said, “It was good talking to you.”

So, that was my Bill Clinton experience last night.

By the way, the Clinton Global Initiative is awesome! He’s doing some phenomenally fabulous work and helping so many people all over the world. It’s incredibly inspiring! Bill said a lot of the ideas he’s developed on techniques to reach out to people and accomplish these philanthropic goals came from Hillary.

#103 mick,

The Democrats have created this mess, they’ve opposed any kind of regulation for Fannie Mae. This election I’d be voting against all democrats. #111 KarenWI on 09.29.08 at 11:25 am

I disagree with those who think Bill and Hillary will vote for McCain-Palin. Don’t they know that there is a way to find out (not us, but the “powers that be”, LOL) how they voted? Bill and Hillary know this. They know that if they vote republican, the dems will find out and then Hill’s “goose will be cooked” for 2012. Just as an example, here in WI they code the number of ballot (which is read by the scanner when the vote is read) by the voter. Why else would they know how I’d voted in the past? I never became a “registered republican”. …and yet they know from my voting record than I have been voting republican. So…. that’s my “two cents worth” . I don’t think they will be voting republican……

Father: Obama Was Asked Not to Mention Bracelet

Jopek’s father says his ex-wife had asked Obama to stop using the bracelet as a publicity stunt.
Jopek’s father, Brian, told Wisconsin Public Radio that his ex-wife had misgivings about Obama wearing the bracelet.

According to a transcript of Brian Jopek’s radio interview, he said: “From what I understood from e-mail exchanges with Tracy . she wanted to put a name, she wanted Sen. Obama to know Ryan’s name. . She wasn’t looking to turn it into a big media event. . She just wanted it to be something between Barack Obama and herself.”

He went on to say his ex-wife is supporting Obama “because of some of the negative feedback she’s gotten on the Internet, you know Internet blogs, you know people accusing her of . or accusing Obama of trying to get votes doing it . and that sort of thing, she has turned down any subsequent interviews with the media because she just didn’t, she just didn’t want it to get turned into something that it wasn’t.

“She had told me that in an e-mail that she had asked, actually asked Mr. Obama to not wear the bracelet anymore at any of his public appearances.”

Womens issues are unique because we are not a minority, but a “protected class” in terms of equal opportunity. I believe that is because alot of women prefer traditional female roles. That should be OK, but it complicates priorities for women.

We have seen alot more controversey over reproductive rights than equal opportunity rights. Obama tells women they he wil protect their reproductive rights, while he exploits them and pays them less than his male staff. McCain/Palin put reproductive rights at some risk, but demonstrate that women would have opportunities to compete.

As a Headclunker, I’ll get out there and go one on one with the best of them, but not all women want to do that.

I say let’s starve the rich.

screw these millionaires and billionaires.

I read in the WSJ this morning that the credit-tightening is starting to have effects in the real work-a-day world: McDonalds has informed its franchises that loans for remodeling and opening new stores are being drastically tightened.

Hmmm. Okay, and ah SO WHAT??!!!

So I have to eat my egg mcmuffin in a mcdonalds that’s a bit shabbier than it was 2 years ago?

BFD!

If businesses mismanage their resources; make bad bets on the markets; and/or take on more debt than they can handle then that means they PAY THE PRICE! They cut back, restructure, or sometimes even GO UNDER!

WTF? seriously — no renovations at McDonalds until 2012. bfd.

I’ve been feeling so very discouraged all week end since the debates. John McCain suspending his campaign seems to have caused his numbers to fall in the polls. Even though the democrooks have a large part in this crisis it appears they are getting more positive responses. I know the polls are fixed, but its tough to see them reporting Obot is up.

I have tried to rally my feelings by coming on this blog reading the posts but is seems many are sharing the same low feelings as me. The thread didn’t seem to help me at all this morning. I guess I will take a break from the news, internet and papers for a while and wait til Thursday to see how Sarah Palin does in the debate.

I was a strong Hillary supporter willing to vote McCain/Palin and will NEVER vote for Obot. I am a strong Christian and pray it is God’s will and the will of the American people to not allow someone like Obot to become our next president. I do the prowls and talk to my friends, neighbors and family. So many of them are just not willing to be involved. They are mostly democrats and say that everyone in politics is dirty so they just vote the same all the time. They just don’t want to hear anything. My one Bible study friend called me assuming I was voting democrat since I worked on Hillary’s campaign and when I tried talking to him about why I will not vote for Obot he said, “Oh you have caved in to the republicans.” I said, “NO I have not caved in, I am an informed, intelligent woman who refuses to allow the DNC to appoint the candidate for me.” Needless to say I he went off on me and I politely said I need to hang up now. I expect this is going to get uglier for americans before Nov 4th.

Murphy I praise all your efforts and work you have done. Have a great day Pumas. :)

British pound is falling against the dollar; Nikkie, Han Seng Index,FTSE 100 fell by 4%. While Wallstreet is falling, US dollar is gaining strength against other currencies and that is GOOD NEWS for USA. A lot of people are against the bailout, I am ALL for it, if we don’t, world market will crash. USA is still the biggest economy, it is no surprise Europeans are angry with USA how we let our financial system collapse. There is ONE to blame, The Democratic Party! This is not the fault of Bush, but he’ll be blamed because he’s the sitting President. The American people should blame the DEMOCRATIC PARTY who CONTROL the legislative branch of the government where legislations and regulations is their domain as stated by the constitution.

I wish people understand functions of the three branches of the government so they’ll see the true picture of the problem and where blame should be laid.

MARTIAL LAW in Congress, as I heard it explained this morning on FOX, is getting a bill passed through so quickly that the members of Congress do not have the time to familiarize themselves with the contents of the Bill.

I agree we shouldn’t be bailing out billionaires, but at the same time, the construction workers who would remodel McDonalds are out of work, they stop eating out and buying stuff, the building supply supply company loses sales, the makers of the building supplies lose sales, that trickle down does impact us poor folks.
It’s all intertwined and scary.
It also scares me that all these banks are merging- what a great way to get around anti-trust laws? Are we going to end up with 3 huge superbanks controlling all of our money?

#136 murphy on 09.29.08 at 11:44 am

Bella-me — I hear ya. The same thing happened to me yesterday.

It’s discouraging to be called a Republican, esp by friends and family.

Good luck in your efforts.

#114 blondlady on 09.29.08 at 11:27 am 98 bodi – I don’t think the polls necessarily sway people either, but I’ve known people who didn’t vote because the polls were showing their candidate either way ahead or way behind and they didn’t think their vote would make a difference.
***************************

As I have said before, this tactic will hurt Bozo more than McCain. His college age cult followers will be the first to say “why bother voting, my candidate will win anyway”. It’s hard enough getting young people to vote and the fake polls will be the excuse they need to attend to their “all about me” lives and blow it off.

McCain’s core voters vote from a sense of duty and obligation.

#138 murphy on 09.29.08 at 11:46 am

yesshecan — yeah, I know. you’re right. BUT, I dont trust the leaders anymore. I think they’re all on the take at this point.

I know I am not a Republican but I also know I will never be called a Democrat again until the party is reformed and recognizable to me. It does not stand for democracy and so I will wait 4 yrs from now and then become an Independent in our next primaries.

I will never vote out of habit ever again. This election has been so enlightening for me and I can see why some prefer to stay uninvolved. That just is not for me.

McCain is ahead in FL, OH and close in PA – THAT’S GREAT! Don’t go by national polls – they are not accurate as to who will win the election.

I for one am EXCITED – Excited because October is around the corner and I expect something HUGE coming from the McCain Camp for Oblahamas October Surprise! WOOHOO. Trust me guys – the Repubs ARE NOT going down with out a fight. The last 30 days of this election are going to be filled with emotional rollorcoaster rides. We have so many problems now without adding to them with Obama as Potus..my god, what would he try to push on our country. This man has a hidden agenda..not so hidden from many of us…but still hidden from too many of us. Bailout..forced CHAOS one of the doctrines of Obamas puppetmasters. Wanted to tell you all, I’ve been receiving emails from the Democrats begging for help housing Obama volunteers here in Clark County, NV. They’re getting ready to literally saturate this area. This state is turning out to be very important. If you know anyone in NV, please try to get them out to vote against BO.
Also, I’ve missed so much. Has Hillary done something recently that upset folks? I’ve been seeing alot of comments about “being done with her”, “final straw”, etc.

I will NEVER trust any politician ever again. They all are corrupt and self serving. Sad but true!

#160 Worker Bee on 09.29.08 at 11:59 am

I feel worse right now about an election that has not even taken place than I did back in 2004 upon learning that Bush had been voted in for another 4 years.

So I prowled to the media about the cspan tapes on YouTube, using the email addresses from the Action Center–so many came back ‘undeliverable’. I feel like the big winter (and I’m in MN so I know about big winters) will hit on Nov 5 and won’t leave for almost another generation. Think about it…if Obacon wins, he will have the WH for nearly an entire generation. I may not live that long.

Also wanted to add – about Bill Clinton’s talk last night at the 92nd St Y.

When Bill praised Obama (YUK – very hard to stomach) the audience clapped. BUT….there were MANY MANY people in the audience that just sat on their hands. I looked around me in the audience and I’d say at least half, if not more, sat silent.

THIS IS NEW YORK CITY! DEMOCRAT country. So blue it makes the sky look dull on a bright sunny summer day. YET, at least HALF or more of the audience did not respond.

Yeah, the rabbit in the boiling pot phenomenon. Just turn up the heat gradually and the “stupid” rabbit (substitute “stupid voter” here for “stupid dead rabbit) won’t even notice.

He’s running for President of the United State. Newsflash Obama. You got to show up for work at the presidential pay-grade. You don’t “delegate” making the decisions to your handlers. YOU DO IT YOURSELF!

Don’t take it wrong …I am never since she became the Speaker a fan of Puke-losi….it is the principles she mentioned that are needed attention….And as for the Past issues it was because they(she) was too ingrained in the election and shoving O-ssiah down our throats that they didn’t have time to pay attention to anything else and that a bad economy has been good politically for Dems.

I am for the bailout, I don’t want people to lose their homes, lose their 401K, lose their retirement. But the bailout must be LIMITED, all profits from the bailout must be put back in our treasury. That is OUR MONEY! I agree also to bailout automakers, Detroit right now is failing, thousands of autoworkers are out of job, we have to help companies that stay here in the US, manufacture products within the US putting US workers to work.

Geez Bill Burton is on Fox running his big mouth and his agenda. Ick.

Reading this blog today it seems as if some are feeling down about turning away from the Democratic party and feeling shame for voting Republican. IMHO you should be proud to be a Dem voting Rep because you are walking the talk! You are standing up for what you feel is right even if it is unpopular with family and friends. You are trying to protect your country from a hostile take over and that is what Obama is. I shout with pride that I am voting McCain. Country first. I am NobamaNetwork, don’t you think I see a lot of middle fingers for that? McCain/Palin 08 is my battle cry. Be tough!

There is a simple reason why we have no power.

Women voters account for 52% of the votes cast in our

country, yet we are largely divided by our party affiliation and by choice.

A total of 33 women have held cabinet or cabinet-level appointments. 16 were appointed by Democratic Presidents, 17 were appointed by Republican presidents
In 2008, 71 women hold seats in Congress: 51 are Democrats, 20 are Republicans. In total, women hold 16.3% of congressional seats.
In 2008, 16 women hold seats in the Senate: 11 are Democrats, 5 are Republicans. In total, women hold 16% of senate seats.
The Democratic Party has selected 1 woman to run as Vice President. The Republican Party has selected 1 woman to run as Vice President.
The Democratic Party has never run a woman for President. The Republican Party has never run a woman for President.
This puts the U.S. in 69th place in the world for women in politics.

What can we do to correct this? It’s really quite simple. We need to create a voting block and work together as women. As the recent UN Study shows, when women hold positions in government, women’s issues are brought forward and dealt with.

We need to leave partisanship and choice aside and work together. When we can exercise the power of our full 52%, we will no longer be the divided majority.
********************************
This year we gain POWER…PUMA PAC!
We are united in our POWER to NOT VOTE FOR OBUMA!!!
We will still be united after the election to be a solid voting block for honest capable politicians who have COUNTRY FIRST standards…..NO BAMA!
We will in masses vote against this inadequate candidate!!!
There is a simple reason why we have no power.

Women voters account for 52% of the votes cast in our country, yet we are largely divided by our party affiliation and by choice.

The issue of reproductive rights slices our power in half. Two polls were released in May 2007 asking Americans, “With respect to the abortion issue, would you consider yourself to be pro-choice or pro-life?” A CNN poll found 45% said pro-choice and 50% said pro-life. Within the following week, a Gallup poll found 49% responding pro-choice, and 45% pro-life. (*)

In presidential elections, there has been a gender gap in every election since 1980.

For example, in the 2004 election, men favored Bush by 14 points, while women favored Kerry by 3 points. In 2000, men favored Bush by 11 points, while women favored Gore by 11 points. (*)

Did the Democrats deserve to get a larger share of women’s votes?

As we’ve seen many times, people get confused about which site is being referred to when terms like “the board” are used. Even I get confused when people ask to have something uploaded to “the board” or “center”.
Since this is the Puma PAc site, I thoight it was safe to assume that they were referring to Puma Pac’s board or action center, but we know that isn’t always the case.

I don’t know how to resolve the confusion, do you?

POLL PISSED OFF PUMA – Gallup

I got tired of waiting for Gallup to answer me back about the relative number of Republicans and Democrats they were including in their “likely” registered voters so I did some algebra with the information on the weekly aggregates, week of Sept 15-21. (I warned them I could add, subtract, multiply and divide).

Dem= (.15 X Ind) + (1.31 X Repub)

where
Dem = Number of Democrats Polled
Ind = Number of Independents Polled
Repub = Number of Republicans Polled

The implications is that there were at around 30% more Democrats than Republicans in the poll.

So much for the validity of using cell phones.

I can’t believe that there was an entire post on this site that just compared someone to looking like Hitler.
And if that wasn’t grotesque enough, people joined in like a greek chorus, giggling that he’s “worse than hitler.”
Honestly. Hitler jokes? I wasn’t aware this site was populated by 14 year-old boys.
This organization hasn’t had ANY plan since the democratic convention and has quickly degraded into nothing. The teamwork that could potentially exist here isn’t being leveraged for any positive goals. How are you going to change -anything- by sitting in mud and spouting hyperbole?
What happened here?

——————–
I think I understand what tkd is saying. MANY of us are doing our own thing to defeat Obama. Yet, it would be much easier if there was better direction and focus via prowls.

It does take a lot of time to figure out who to write to, then compose a letter or comment, then look for the emails, etc. I think if we had direction to focus on one or two issues a day and pound who ever needs to be pounded at the same time on the same day, all of our work would be more effective.

I think the media, etc. would be more likely to take notice of what we say if they get loads of emails or contacts on the same day on the same issue/concern.

Right at this time, I think the biggest concern is the economy. I have found out through feedback from my personal emails and posting on Topix that people do not know that John McCain predicted this financial disaster would happen and he tried to do something about it three years ago. I know two my friends have turned to McCain just on this issue. None of the other things I have emailed to them has convinced them to vote for McCain.

Too many of our PUMAs have indicated the same as tkd and have left in frustration. I am just saying that I would like to see one or two prowls emailed to us daily so we can focus and get the work done quicker and for those who are doing other things, they can continue to do their own work. More people who don’t have as much time as others will be involved and perhaps we can make more of an impact. And, I did like the idea of coming on the blog and bragging. It tells me that a lot of work is getting done and sometimes it has forced me on those days when I think I cannot compose another letter, etc. to get going and do what I am suppose to be doing.

We only have a little more than a month left.

Maybe that was why there was no margin of error attached to the poll? It was probably right off the scale so they conveniently left it out. #274 Asian4Hillary on 09.29.08 at 1:29 pm

OMG!!!!!! I cannot believe this!

Here’s a short excerpt:

This past Sunday, a graduate student in electrical engineering learned that Fascists are not always goosestepping in uniforms behind tanks, sometimes they can appear to be innocent little old ladies or soccer moms. Our student, whom we will refer to as as just Brian, approached an Obama campaign table on Church Street here in Burlington and began to ask questions about Brzezinski’s role as advisor to Obama. He also asked if the Obama supporters knew about how Brzezinski was the architect for the Mujahideen, a.k.a. Al Qaeda.

Refusing to speak was not enough for the Obama people, they called the police! Two police officers chased Brian down, ordered him onto the ground. Brian called out for help, thinking he had committed no crime. The police told him to shut up or he would be tasered. Brian was handcuffed and taken to jail where he was held for 35 hours. He had to appear before a judge in shackles and will face a trial by jury in one month for: resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

(I posted this in response to someone on another blog)

McCain will likely win. I hate to say it but the Bradley effect will be about 6-8% of the vote; people will say they are voting for Obama, but then vote differently in the booth. Then there are about 5 million plus pumas: Hillary supporters who will not vote for Obama (Obama’s Hillary support was only 58% in June, and has remained unchanged as of last week). Also, there are 3rd party candidates who will take votes from Obama, at least 3%.

It’s not the republicans who will beat Obama, it’s the democrats and independents who vote republican that will beat Obama.

Republicans may not have picked up on some language McCain used in the debate, but Hillary supporters recognized a lot of familiar territory–things that could help unhappy Hillary supporters move to McCain. McCain had a strategy at the debate.

There are a few more debates, and there is likely some kind of bombshell is to come upon Obama.

Do you have an email for Rush Limbaugh handy? I just sent my email to Hannity. I’m tweeking it to send to others. I’d like to add Limbaugh to the list. (Feel free to add any other names you can think of….)

Regardless of whether this particular bail-out bill passes, Congress is going to do something to prevent the whole economy from tanking and taking tons of jobs with it.

I would hold on and see what they pull out. There may be a “compromise” that saves the economy but doesn’t involve we, the people, getting our pockets picked clean right down to our underwear.

As they say, “Necessity is the mother of invention,” and if they really have to, these scoundrels may come up with something more palatable to the multitude of furious voters out here in the real world. Hopefully, something that will preserve your job (or, heck, enable you to GET an even better one!)

The rep’s are blamming Pelosi. Whoopee!!!

McCain is blamming BO “phoning in his vote”.

224 Asian4Hillary I disagree. We need to hit a bottom so we can begin to recover. Denial is not a river in Egypt. We have a problem and it’s been proven on a regular basis the last 20 years that bandaids don’t fix anything.

I was looking at the part where the Palin rape kit issue was mentioned by OBAMAMAMA, and wondered if she was proud of this…
