SO Obama acted like a petulant baby last night. And the media claims he won? Sigh. The Reality Based Community gets smaller every day as self-selecting morons get more inculcated by the Obama Movement. The brilliant miq2xu has a good takedown HERE. Please share other links to debate reactions. My five dollar bet of the day is that when the polls start to show that the voters believe McCain won, the geniuses on TV will start agreeing without missing a beat or batting an eye.
I have a bracelet too! So there!

McCain won..Wisdom and Experience… Gets my vote!!
Okay am I first? Now what??
I’m 2nd?
Make that 3rd!
I guess everyone’s hung over HP!
good, if insane, coverage here:

That depends on which media you are referring to.
Obama came off naive and inexperienced.
McCain came off knowledgeable and experienced.
I love how later the news reported Henry Kissinger weighed in and said, Obama misquoted him and that he agrees with John McCain. OOPS Obama’s teacher made a boo boo and he ends up looking like an idiot.
If you are going to speak for someone as prestigious as Henery Kissinger you better be sure to get it right.
Riverdaughter seems discouraged this morning as well.
My overarching reaction to Obama’s performance last night is not that he blundered badly, he didnt — but lord he’s just so cliched and vapid.
How can reviews be in his favor??
It makes no sense to me.
The only explanation I can come up with is that his vagueness is reassuring to a country that really, really wants out of the Bush era.
??
McCain won no matter how they spin it. They are in denial.
Yup Murphy the far left undemocratic party saw the bush fiasco as the big opportunity. It is easy for them to shove Obuma down the throats of the ever gullible masses!
But Obuma is now a war monger and a spend, spend, tax us to death guy, he will bury us ALIVE!!
Chris Matthews thought that McCain won.
Bella-Me — yep. That was a very exposing exchange for Obama.
McCain was practically openly mocking him.
At the end did you notice how he greeted Michelle? He looked MAD! and extremely tense.
At least HE knew he got pwned.
thanks lin4hill. I believe you’re right, but the msm is hard to take.
Hannity was pretty funny in the post-debate. He was just shredding Obama — with a smile of course.
We know who has been in the tank for Obama all along, so why would we care what they say after this debate, or put any stock in what they say ever?
They have their polls and we all know they mess with them to make them show what they want them to show. Don’t you think Obama had his college tag alongs manning the computers to be ready for them polls?
Everything is so transparent to the American people. The only ones who can’t see are the media and Obama. Again it’s the Emperor’s New Clothes story.
My favorite line was when McCain said, “I won’t need on the job training, I am ready on day one.”
Second favorite zinger when McCain said, “I don’t have my Presidential seal yet” I bust up laughing.
I agree that the polls will be in McCain’s favor. Obama came across as studied, arrogant and a little angry. Remeber, McCain was a wrestler, never look your opponent in the eye!
Everyone on “The Hill” now knows Obama tried to use Henry Kissinger to help his cause. I love how Fox news heard from Kissinger immediately.
Egg on Obama’s face, and he will live with that forever!
You don’t MISQUOTE someone like Henry Kissinger.
I love how McCain laughed and said, “I have been friends with Henry Kissinger for 35 years and he would never say that.”
Obama trying to fit in with the big boys.
I loved when McCain said he has a maverick on the ticket with him. I think he said it quickly or Obuma was yelling so word for word I am not definite.
Who heard that too?
*61 practiced for three days to say what…nothing!! Mister wearing the wrist band but then says he will send more troops in…what a joke! He will say anything anytime to attempt to defraud the American public.
There is a time to pray and then there is a time to PRAY…PRAY that people will hear that still voice in them that something is just not “right” with *61.
Of course the majority of polls showed him winning…his bots were texted to vote! Get a life!
NO WAY NO HOW NOBAMA…NOW OR EVER!
I love the pic and the message, LOL..
McCain won! I trust him and Hillary, that is it!
#14 hillary2008
You are so right, Obama was trying desperately to get McCain to look at him. I loved how McCain seemed busy taking notes refusing to let him engage him. He did NOT take the bait.
It’s kind of like McCain was the cat playing with the mouse. At first he let Obama bait him and then when Obama least expected it McCain gobbled him up with the, “I have been to Iraq and Afghanistan, I have seen what is happening on the ground, you are the head of the committee for Afghanistan have never held one meeting. It took you over 900 days to visit Iraq.”
At that point Obama lost his footing and turned a shade of pale.
John McCain does not do earmarks, and Obama requested none this year in keeping with his promise. But the group Taxpayers for Common Sense says Obama has asked for $860 million in earmarks since joining the Senate just three years ago.

which part about how earmarks do hurt us do most americans not understand

Good morning!
I read several reviews this morning on RealClear politics, that say McCain won, so don’t let your hearts be troubled.
I want to say something with I feel is important for us all.
I’m sure some of you read the book or saw the DVD, The Secret. If you haven’t you should. It is all about the law of attraction.
Keeping your mind on what you want and off what you don’t want. Keep our minds only on McCain victory, not Obama defeat. Think only victory, see only victory. Don’t agonize over the up and down poll numbers everyday. In the book it says, have you ever noticed in elections that the person everybody is attacking, is the one who wins i.e. George Bush. Why? because that person is the one getting all the energy. So all the attacks on McCain and Palin is giving them all the energy.
The ‘silent majority’ are the one’s who decide the election. Not the MSM, not the pundits or the bloggers.
There are million of people out there who are not spending their daily lives on the internet, voting in all these polls. I believe McCain will be our next President.
So please let’s keep our focus on the positive, no matter what happens, don’t lose faith.
Morning Beca…sorry won’t be able to meet with today. How about tomorrow after 12 p.m. when I get off work?
also, i remember Barbara walters suggesting it was kind of rude for Sarah Palin to keep calling a certain journalist interviewer, the first one she, as “Charlie”, yet Obama felt it quite appropriate to continuously call McCain, “John” ummm ahhhh last i heard you put Senator in from of someone’s name if they are indeed a Senator
When Obama said he has a wrist band too, he stumbled, stuttered and didn’t even know the name on the band. Now that was PRICELESS.
It’s like a child trying to out run another to show him up, and then falling down.
Fox said even the Obama camp is not saying they won. And then minutes later the Obots came out with a statement they felt they won. What a joke.
The MSM is hard to take, Murphy, especially since they have so much power at their disposal and millions of Americans are vulnerable. The bots-controlled internet polls are hard to take as well and only convince more of the uninformed to swing their way. Mass hysteria prevails.
It just feels like we are in some movie where we are banging on the window to warn the people inside that the guest they have just let in is a vampire. They have fallen for his cleverness.
It gets us all down sometimes, and I don’t think this is just bias from those of us who supported Hillary and what she represented. This is a deep-in-the-gut feeling.
He is so wrong, so very wrong.
#22 bodi1313 Thank you for the energy! Yes, I do see McCain/Palin winning! Palin drew over 60,000 people in FL while *61 had 10,000. That is a huge victory!!
Faith with talking to those that have not heard the “real truth” will bring victory!!
McCain/Palin 2008!
I tried all day yesterday to get through to Congress. All of the lines are either busy, or when I do get through, I get a message that the voice mail box is full.
This tells me that there are lots and lots of phone calls going in regards to this bail out situation. According to the congressman in the adjacent district, on tv last night, the calls coming into his office are 3-1 against the bail out. He is for it with some changes. I am watching this today, and will keep trying to reach my senators, I did finally get a message onto my rep’s e-mail.
Don’t be discouraged. Go vote on AOL if you haven’t already. Up to 300,000 voters are McCain all the way. There are 4 polls at the top section, then scroll down for an addtional 2 polls.
http://news.aol.com/elections/debates/article/obama-mccain-wrestle-over-war-taxes/172887?icid=200100397x1210467882x1200588727
My impression of BO last night was that he was rude and inmature. I believe that the younger crowd is not as perceptive about this and that is why they are a main group of support for him.
BO was just plain unprofessional. If any of the people who report to me at work had conducted themselves that way at a business meeting, they would have recieved alot of coaching and councelling.
bodi1313, I hope you are right as well. Those millions of sensible Americans who see through BO and the media (or don’t watch it because they are too busy working their butts off) could bring this country back to its senses.
Morning Pumas,
Here is a link for Jim Leher, last nights debate moderator. OMG, a man that actually takes his job seriously and puts voters first! Since it is obvious how much of the msm is in Baraks back pocket, it is imperative that we find out which journalists are working for us. Here is one, when we want facts go here:
http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1844726,00.html#http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1844726,00.html
I think we need links to those in the media that are impartial and still honor the journalistic code of ethics, i.e. FACTS first, not opinion.
I think we need to find out how to contact Mr. Lehrer and give him some thanks and Puma love.
Anyone have Mr. Lehrer’s e-mail addy?
i’ll tell you one thing.. the main stream media is shooting itself in the foot because if obama wins miilions of americans will have become so bitter and turned off to the main stream media they will “tune out” the TV news channels and “Tune in” to radio or to the internet for news..you would think commercial advertising would be worried about this..
I know how much all of us wanted to see McCain attack Obot with all the amunition he has on him. If he had it would have come off to the American people as McCain as being aggressive and hostile.
Instead McCain took the jabs when needed to weaken Obot and send the message “I gotcha where I want ya.”
Obot was scared shitless once he saw McCain throw the first zinger because Obot really has NO idea when or what McCain is going to do next. McCain keeps upsetting the quit pro quo. Obot miscalculates McCain the same way he miscalculates the terrorist leaders.
McCain uses the sniper attack with Obot’s youth and inexperience and the knowledge he knows alot about him the media has refused to expose. That is what has Obot nervous. He knows he is vulnerable, and he knows McCain knows he is vulnerable.
I like to take my cues from my husband on how the election is going. He is not a political person in that he never gets involved in campaigns or any type of political work. He didn’t watch the debate, and said that none of his friends were planning to.
It occurs to me that there are a few people, like us, who are very engaged in this activity, while those more like my spouse are not at all interested in the day to day goings on in the campaigns. Yet, when I can get him to talk to me, he has a pretty good grasp of the issues and the candidates. This is reassuring to me. What the Obamaites do not understand is that the electorate, in general, gets it.
By getting it, I mean they don’t buy into the Obama mystique, and do buy into the solid competence of McCain. They feel comfortable with McCain and think he is capable, while they think Obama is just out for Obama and has nothing to offer us, the citizenry.
jim lehrer did a great job last night.. he deserves credit for acting like a real journalist
My favorite moment was when McCain told Obama that he voted to tax those making 42,000 a year and up. Obama said, “no I didn’t, that’s not true”. McCain said, “Yes you did….look it up”.
LOL….he really made a fool of Obama!
I thank God every day for Hillary! If it was not for her, we as PUMAS…would of never met and started to stand together for our great nation!
When I listen to Bill…he is not negative towards McCain or Palin and actually praises them! That should be our “sign” that victory is closer than we see! He actually gets angry when those interviewing him keeps trying to get him to go negative on them…he crosses his arms and makes the best statements! Way to go Bill!
I have never seen a race where so many people have switched sides like this year!
McCain/Palin in 2008!
I just got my morning paper to learn that my bank, Wachovia, is now shaky. Every day another piece is falling off of our financial framework. Our representatives need to stop worrying about their dinner parties on the hill and get this done right. I’m glad McCain is going back to DC. It shows concern.
south.. obama is a pathological liar so much so he believes in his own fantasies..
I believe the Obama Campaign knew BO was not going to do well and had a damage control plan in place even before the debate. They are the people that believe they can make perception into reality. Scairy.
BO used “Uah” over 102 times in an hour and a half, speaking half the time. He studders and strings his sentences with “and”, similar to the frequent use of “Uah”. He just lacks basic public speaking skills.
It is absurd to think he even held a candle to McCain. This is a clear demonstration of how much propeganda we are being blitzed with.
There have been a number of comments on Fox about how Obama called McCain ‘John’ while Senator McCain called him Senator Obama. There seems to be some significance in this. First of all, Obama wanted it to seem that he knows McCain well enough to call him by his first name. Second, it was, in some sense, a demeaning attitude, especially since the senate is a very formal place when debate is going on there. They call each other the gentleman or gentle lady from xyz state, or by the Title of Senator such and so. I believe Obama messed up by addressing Senator McCain as John.
Anyone else notice in the long shots, how the corner of obama’s mouth was twitching while McCain was speaking?
And how often Obama kept interruptiing when McCain was speaking?
Like an adolescent… (no offense to adolescents).
Last night someone posted an excerpt from no quarter
about obama and his bracelet. He should have memorized the name of teh dead soldier’s name whne he was prepping. Appearances aren’t substitutes for substance. Obama is pathetic.
#5 murphy
Not hangover. I could drink Obama under the table just like Hillary.
What? OMG Paul Newmen died. wow,…
i dont know if it was the camera or what..i waached the debate on FOX.. but obama looked sinister and mean..did any one else pick up on that?

I noticed, and resented that. It’s a device that minimizes the stature of the one to whom you are referring.
Wachovia holds my mortgage. They also manage my sister’s 401.k plan. It lost more than 10% last year. I have been expecting this.
What we don’t need is big entities gobling up more little entities. This is the side effect of this mess that I hate. What we really need is little local banks coming to the fore and keeping more of the business local.
I agree, Henrietta, using the first name was perhaps out of protocol for a formal debate. These two guys are running for president and should have been addressed formally in front of the American people. It wasn’t like a journalist who is strolling around your backyard with you,(Palin and Gibson)–which was a more informal setting.
It was the first official presidential debate between the two parties. I think BO’s use of Senator McCain’s name in this setting was impolite at the very least.
I have decided that I like Senator McCain’s style. He has a very gentle voice, and speaks like he is talking to you, not preaching to you, or talking down to you. I would imagine that he gets a great deal done with this gentle and understanding demeanor. It is almost like he moves you into his way of thinking without you even realizing where the conversation is going.
Obama is so bent on telling us that he has all of the answers, that he knows everything, and that if you oppose him there is something wrong with you, that he comes off as an arrogant airhead. Which he most definantly is!
.. the drudge report which is huge had a big poll of over 250000 and mccain won by a 2 to 1 margin…
now thats good news..
Wachovia has my mortgage, my daughter’s mortgage, my waning securities, my pittance of a savings….it is freaky.
Wachovia bought out the only bank in my city that did NOT go under during the Great Depression–that’s why I banked with the original institution. Now……what a mess.
mccain is a true warrior.. speak softly but carry a big stick..obama is an ivy league egg head whose never had a bad day in his life
#45 osaka puma
Ya at first he was trying to look like what he thought was Presidential.
He just came off as menacing like this,..

Hello, everyone, I would like to weigh in on the debate. I thought McCain did very well. He is a straight forward, plain talking man, but he knows alot about foreign policy. Obama is very articulate and can probably speak rings around McCain which can make Obama seem authoritative and knowledgeable. But if you watch Obama his immaturity, impulsiveness and narcissim is clear. He has continually, in his debates with Hillary and in this one, interrupts by raising his finger as soon as the other party says something he doesn’t like, or he grimaces. I know this may seem like a small thing, but to me it is very telling. He cannot wait and listen–he immediately has to insert his opinion. He also is ‘raising his hand’ as in class and appealing to the higher authority in the room. I think about this attitude and behavior if it is translated into a diplomatic situation in which he is negotiating with hostile foreign leaders. Those little gestures become intrusive and offensive. So although his speech is intelligent, his behavior is immature, in my opinion.
Now the BOTs are going to try to trick Hill supporters into voting for BO: Posted originally at Huffpo,
The following was posted by Lea Lane on huffpo. I Pass it on without comment since it speaks for itself…Olivia Taylor-Young.
Do Whatever You Must to Trick Former Hillary Supporters into Voting for Barack
Eat Crow? Hell Yes, to Win This Election
The Obama team is suddenly making a huge effort to gain women’s votes, but many die-hard Hillary supporters — dozens of my acquaintances — remain bruised and confused. The fact that Palin is on the ticket when HRC wasn’t even vetted may turn out to have been the major gaffe of Axelrod and Company, and the tipping point of this tight election.
If you’ve been an outspoken Obama supporter from the beginning, it’s time to make amends with Hillary supporters you know. Arguing with, or browbeating them to get on board is counterproductive, but showing you’ve come around to respecting Hillary may ease their hurt enough to do the trick. (Even if you don’t mean it. This is politics.)
Here’s what you can do:
Eat crow. To get started, memorize this phrase, take a deep breath and say: “Now that I see how unqualified Sarah Palin is, I realize how I misjudged Hillary Clinton. Even Biden said she would have made a great vice president.” Saying you wish she were the presidential nominee may go too far, and you may not be able to get it out. But if the Hillaryite brings it up, don’t argue, and see below
Let the HRC voter vent.You may have to draw on every bit of patience you have. You may have to hear once again how unfair it is that the Repubs chose Palin, and the Dems ignored Hillary, and that the party would assuredly be ahead if she were anywhere on the ticket. You may have to hear old-news complaints about sexism and Jack Cafferty’s curmudgeonly comments, David Shuster’s pimping Chelsea insult, the Monica mentions, the tougher debate questions for Hillary. Do not look like you want to run and soak your head in vodka, even if you do. Do not talk unless asked. Listening without argument is the major way to keep this potential voter attainable.
Act empathic. Nod your head in agreement when the subject of Palin or Chris Matthews or Keith Olbermann’s Hillary-bashing commentary is mentioned. Learn these phrases and use them every so often: “I imagine it must be hard.” “It must seem unfair.” “I know, you wanted to see an accomplished woman as president in your lifetime.” “I can understand your being hurt (sad, mad, furious, despondent, livid, resentful, apoplectic, intransigent, inconsolable, red-faced, nauseous, wretched, shit-faced”). Again, do not argue. Just listen.
Do not praise Obama.I know, this seems ridiculous, but now is not the time in this chain of events. Also, do not praise Michelle or their daughters. If the HRC supporter praises, agree and move on. This is not so much about Obama as it is the closure about Hillary’s run, which remains a wound to some. Take a breath, and move to the next step, which may be the hardest.
Praise HRC.Never mention her flaws. Be gracious and do not bring up her vote for the war, or her “dirty campaign.” Do not allude to Bill. Instead, try to find something you can praise with some conviction — some version of “By the end of the campaign I could understand why people were so enthusiastic about Senator Clinton (not “Hillary”). I saw her toughness, her brains, her heart.” “She is gracious and helpful in defeat.” And especially, “Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton.” You may have to go back to steps one and two. Nobody said this would be easy.
Know your anti-female McCain political facts.Here comes the logic. Make a cheat-sheet if necessary. If Palin can get past her ignorance about The Bush Doctrine and the Constitution in prime time, you can learn these few talking points. Remind HRC supporters that several Supreme Court nominees (and Roe v Wade) are in the balance. Discuss McCain/Palin’s ultra-conservative record, and stands on right- to- life, guns, creationism, you name it. You’ll need to do some homework here. Wikipedia and Google are there for you at all times.
Know your anti-female McCain emotional facts. If the above doesn’t do it, remain low-key, with a pleasant visage. Remind HRC supporters that McCain left his disfigured first wife who waited loyally for him and raised their children alone, to have an affair with Cindy, the current, rich, much younger wife. But aha, continuing this behavior, he probably cheated on this trophy with blonde lobbyist, Vicky Isenman. (Where is this woman? In a rendition prison in Syria till after the election? Hello, National Enquirer.) Remind the Hillary fan that McCain called his $300k-suited trophy wife the C- word in public, and has a notoriously terrible temper. And worst of all, and leave this for the climax of this entire exercise: McCain publicly laughed at the allusion to HRC as a “bitch” and — lowest of the low — made that public Chelsea Clinton ugly joke when she was just a teen.
Know your Palin political and emotional facts. Emphasize that Palin is against almost everything that Hillary stands for. List these things. Be sure to mention that she called Hillary “a whiner.” Then ask, “Do you really want this undeserving woman to break the glass ceiling before someone as deserving and qualified as Hillary Clinton?”
If you did your best but it didn’t work, leave the door open. Don’t lose it and attack the HRC supporter for being stupid, intransigent, short-sighted, emotional, unpatriotic, and thinking with her nether regions, even if those feelings are coursing inside you. Do not use the term “bitch,” even though McCain did.
Hillary supporters may not want to tell you that you’ve reached them. Assume it will take a few tries. And even if these voters don’t admit they’ve changed their minds, at a minimum, your attempt at taking one for the team may influence them enough to keep them from voting for McCain, or bad-mouthing Obama’s so-far wobbly candidacy.
If each die-hard Obama supporter could convince even one disgruntled HRC supporter that he or she respects Hillary Clinton, it just might help secure this election. Even if you still don’t like HRC, consider yourselves citizen-patriots, suck it up, and do your part to save our country. And fast, please.
From last night:

I am attaching this post from NoQuarter. Despite all the rigged polls through the MSM, this military wife catches Obama’s big lie.
Comment by Holden Caulfield | 2008-09-26 23:37:35
During the presidential debate, John McCain humbly mentioned wearing a bracelet in honor of a dead soldier and promptly shared the name of that soldier with us. Then Obama did something I found absolutely appalling. Obama said, “I gotta bracelet too, it’s uh, uh,…” and then he had to look down to read the name on the bracelet because he could not remember who the soldier was. As a military wife of a war veteran, this relayed clearly to me that Obama wears the bracelet bearing a dead soldier’s name as a political prop with no thought of the individual who made the ultimate sacrifice in giving his life in service to our country. I sincerely hope the American public sees Obama’s awful, heartless disrespect to the military shown over and over again in an internet or TV clip so the media can’t ignore it in their quest to bury Obama’s blunders.”
lin4 hill..
i heard an interview on the radio last night of a fellow who is an expert on banking and the FDIC..
he said the FDIC has only 50 billion in the fund to pay off depositors and investors… so far with the the lower tiered banks failing they have already used 15 billion to cover.. they dont know yet what the damage will be from WAMU.. but i’m sure it will be big.. if one or two more large banks go under the fund is wiped out and there will be no insurance left to pay with..
McCain’s soft spoken, gentle style comes from his life-shattering experiences. His priorities are on straight. He was defeated in an ugly race with George Bush back in 2000, but he has remained persistent in his quest to lead this country. His “famous” temper is useful too.
I believe he has a calling to this, just like Hillary does. I also like (what I have heard he has said) that he would be a one-term president. Yeah, it could be due to his age, but it also is liberating. If you are planning to be a one-termer, (Like George Washington insisted upon), you give it your ALL. You don’t spend half of it running again. You build your legacy from the first day, because you want it to count.
Good morning, fellow PUMAs, I can only stay for a while (lots of Saturday errands/chores to do). My internet kept going down last night during the debate, so I was only able to lurk here, but I just want to say that you guys are really funny – your commentary during the debate were priceless!
Newsday thinks McCain won – here’s why:
http://www.blog.newsweek.com/blogs/stumper/archive/2008/09/26/mccain-won-but-will-it-matter.aspx
The bracelet fiasco was ridiculous. I am sure the mother who gave that bracelet to Obot was ashamed to see he did not even know her son’s name.
Obot came over as memorized cramming, McCain came over as lived, and learned life lessons and experienced.
Which one do you want in your foxhole?
I felt McCain is the one who can keep this country safe. Like he said “he does not need on the job training he is ready on day one. A Hillary quote and a good one!
aww, CNN reporting Paul Newman has died.

paul newman..oh thats such a shame..
great actor and nice guy paul newman
osaka puma #57—That’s deeply frightening. Goes against what some economists have been saying on the news over the last week or so. They led us to believe the FDIC had sufficient funds. What else do we not know?

We need video of that. That would make a grate ad.
murphy You certainly tagged todays thread correctly – even with the gorgeous kitty! It’s printed everyone I have gone so far for news this a.m. about “the bracelet”! Good job!
“everywhere”

Thanks a million for the post!
This tells me two things:
1. They are aware and frightened that about 7.5 million Hillary supporters are still ‘not falling in line’
2. They think we are stupid and vulnerable to their tricks.
Have they never heard of PUMA, didn’t they know we would find them out? Don’t they know we do know what they are up to?
1gypsy.. the kitty is fitting image for obamas bracelet bs after mccain showed his..
obama..he’s nothing but a “copy cat”..
#55 atypical The bots need to get a real job!! Nothing will change my vote and “if” they come to my door, I will cut the conversation short with, “Sure I will vote for him when hell freezes over! Are you so naive that you do not know that he is a Trojan Horse!?!?! Read, educate yourself and God will open your eyes!!”
Guess that will toss them! Do they really think we are just mad about the primary and can be talked into backing the evil one!?!?! Never!
NO WAY NO HOW NOBAMA…NOW OR EVER!!
Ahahah I have a bracelet too. Enough said.
75 osaka puma Several of the news media said last nite that there wasn’t a punch statement – we know, don’t we? Copy Cat is good!
nomore..if you want to get rid of the door to door obama pests than try this.. tell them you are not a citizen and cant vote..fake a little foreign accent..
hehe

I don’t think Senator McCain has any respect for Obama, and for good reason. McCain’s letter to Obama, February 6, 2006:
“I would like to apologize to you for assuming that your private assurances to me regarding your desire to cooperate in our efforts to negotiate bipartisan lobbying reform legislation were sincere. When you approached me and insisted that despite your leadership’s preference to use the issue to gain a political advantage in the 2006 elections, you were personally committed to achieving a result that would reflect credit on the entire Senate and offer the country a better example of political leadership, I concluded your professed concern for the institution and the public interest was genuine and admirable. Thank you for disabusing me of such notions with your letter to me dated February 2, 2006, which explained your decision to withdraw from our bipartisan discussions. I’m embarrassed to admit that after all these years in politics I failed to interpret your previous assurances as typical rhetorical gloss routinely used in politics to make self-interested partisan posturing appear more noble. Again, sorry for the confusion, but please be assured I won’t make the same mistake again. . . ”

osaka, I’m going to go now to talk to the bank. They are one of the few open on Saturdays in my town. Wonder if I’ll get a straight answer. There are rumors Wells Fargo may buy them out. The problem is–you can’t close out accounts on Saturdays, just get the paperwork started, and I don’t want to panic, but this is distressing. When you don’t have much (like me), it’s really scary to think of it jeopardized.
bbl, PUMAs–I’ve hogged the landline long enough this morning. Others are growling.

I have known for some time that FDIC was almost out of money. The mortgage reinsurer, MGIC and a couple of other similar entities have already bellied up. This was when the mortgage crisis really snowballed. These reinsurers guarantee the mortgage companies that they will pick up the top 20% of a loan. For the 95% or 100% loan to value mortgages, this is crucial. That gives the lender a cushion of 20% against loss when they liquidate. Without the reinsurer, they take the entire fall.
lin4..
banks will always try to keep people from panicking so dont expect straight answers from them..
if there is even just one major run panic on the banks the FDIC fund will be wiped out and the government will have to just print more money and make you wait God knows how long to get even a percentage of your savings
#79 osaka puma That would be great to do! I can take it one step further if they come before closing to register and ask if ‘they” can register me anyway, take their name and turn them in for voter fraud!
Great suggestion!
people.. this may sound counter intuitive..but you are better off if you get credit NOW and if you want something buy it NOW..
you will be in the winning position of paying todays debt with cheaper money in the next few years..
so if you want something buy it NOW..
you will come out ahead
For those lamenting the MSM’s views on this election, bear this in mind:
The MSM has been shedding readers, listeners and viewers like a dog with mange. The NYT’s circulation has dropped to historic lows, and its stock price is in the toilet. Time and Newsweek are struggling to stay afloat. They have cut the size of their publications and their ad revenue has plumetted. GE has been trying to peddle NBC and MSNBC for almost a year now. Their ratings are in the toilet, and it is those ratings that drive advertising rates and revenue.
They have the platforms they have now for historic reasons, not because they are competitive. As far as their influence goes, they are but a shadow of what they once were. Before cable, the internet, and the reemergence of talk radio, the MSM had a lock on the information flow in this country. They were the de facto ministry of propaganda, and doled out their spin on what the masses needed to hear.
The MSM still has not realized that what they continue to present as fact, is now susceptible to verification and critique. They cannot adjust to a world where their word is not taken as gospel. Like the dinosaur, their inability to evolve to meet their realities of their new environment will lead to their extinction.
Americans are generally a very forgiving and trusting people, but they abhor being misled. They do not suffer liars and deceivers lightly, and have learned to make their views known by voting with their pocketbooks. The MSM over the last several years has been caught in lie after lie. And the current deception of the MSM that is presently coming to light is their claim of impartiality and objectivity. The McCain camp just last week exposed the NYT as a publication that had ceased being a journalistic medium and had dropped any pretense to being anything other than a partisan propaganda tool. That was a conclusion many people had already reached, and many more were considering.
The polls are being manipulated. There is no question about that. I believe one of the reasons for that is that some in the MSM are worried that what little credibility they have left will be totally destroyed with a McCain win – they have been so in the tank for Obama, that a McCain victory will be definitive proof of their deceptive tactics and biased slant.
It takes a hell of a lot to build up people’s trust, but very little to lose it. And a McCain win just might be the final straw that breaks the MSM’s back.

I think the bracelet incident is significant because Obama was more than dismissive of it. It was like he was saying: Anybody can get one, look, even I have one too, let me see now, what is that soldier’s name……oh yea, it reads like this………nice fashion accessory, really,,,,,,,,,why don’t we all get on e-bay and order one so we can show our support……yes that’t right, good political move to show support for the ahhhhhhhh soldier and his family………………
henrietta..
.. when you really look beneath obamas facade hes really a selfish mean spirited and cruel person..
that grimace of his is scary

Goodmorning PUMAs!
My take on the debate. Overall Obama did okay, he had no major mess ups … which is what we needed. McCain was very strong, but IMO, we needed more passion from McCain. I’m not worried about the Obots, they have already drank the kool-aid. McCain needed to reach the undecided voters and I’m not so sure if this debate did that.
About those undecided voters … at the risk of offending peeps here, I have a few comments about them. How can anybody still be undecided?? These two men are so different … I mean come on people … get off the freakin’ fence and make a decision!! What are these people waiting for?? IMO, undecided voters are the type of people that have a hard time making a decision about anything in their lives. Just saying.
As for internet polls, ignore them, they mean nothing. Many of them let you vote over and over so they’re not an accurate. Plus, they’re biased depending on whether the site is liberal or conservative.

Good comment.
I am encouraged that McCain was counted out so early in the primaries. He quietly marched on, spending less than 1/5 of the money his opponents spent, doing less controversial and demeaning things, and won. The MSM was stunned and shocked that he won.
Will the general election be the same? I surely hope so.
mccain is passionate when hes pisssed off..
so they probably want to let sarah carry the “passion” ball ..hehe
good afternoon pumas
when a liar is front of an audience or just one person , no matter how how well he is prepared, the audience will percieve the falseness, because the truth is not withing his mind, is not part of him
THIS IS WHAT HAPPEN TO BIMBO
BIMBOS bracelet..
Does everyone realize that banks and credit card companies borrow money at 2% for a year or more and we pay…how much?!?! That cushion is more than enough to make up for “bad debts”.
Everybody who think just because the MSM declared that Obama won it maks it so please listen to these facts. Just about everyday Fox has more viewers then all the other news networks combined. On Fox McCain was viewed as the winner by 84% of the viewers. So essentially if you look at what viewers thought and take into account how many people are watching each network it is safe to say that the public is going with McCain by a large margin. Anybody who thinks Obama won must have been taking some mind altering drugs before they watched the debate. Even on the economy Obama fumbled. People where trying to give this guy credit so badly it was very painful to watch. This guy has been preparing for this debate for about two weeks now and has been studing very hard most of the week and this is all he could come up with. McCain did not even have time to prepare since he was to busy trying to get something done in D.C.
So please take everything that you hear form MSM with a grain of salt.
If you want to read a good article that says as it really is please read this one.

LOL copy right that!
I’m kinda “down” today…. I can’t believe that NOBODY (except here) says anything about how unprofessional (much less un-presidential) Obama acted, nor how his lie about Kissinger is IMPORTANT. It discourages me because so many of the polls I see about the debates show Obama winning; the “talking heads” are saying Obama won; and…. since McCain was behind in the polls, he needed to score here and score big. We’ll see what the polls show the next few days, but…. I’m half afraid they are either going to show the same or an Obama increase. By the way, today’s Rasmussen shows Obama with 50% and McCain at 44% . That was taken before the debate.
I think that Obama only appealed to his base. The more we step back and look at the whole, BO never really holds our attention. Like his speech in Denver, what is he really saying, “Vote for me I, Michelle and I want this.” It is never, ever about us. That is why we can’t get behind him. Look, I am a liberal and he makes my skin crawl. I knew Hillary and Bill believed in something greater than themselves.
I have come to the conclusion that the way McCain has run his campaign is significant. He does it on less money, but is very efficient and effective.
Obama is another story. He spends money like it was water, and advocates all kinds of things that will cost lots and lots of money at tax payer’s expense. He never talks about the deficit, which is the 10,000 pound weight hanging over the country. He never seems to actually ‘pay’ for any of the things he proposes.
Could we conclude, by watching how these two have run their campaigns, that McCain would be able to do more with less, while Obama would be doing less with more??????????????
nomore.. for ages banks were only required to have 10% of actual funds in the bank..they could lend out the other 90% on higher interest rates of course..
they recently changed that law,now banks can have 0% actual funds in house.. 0%..nada zip zilch..
so what happens when people make a run on ther bank?? well you know.. theyll close the doors and run for their lives..

His inequities fined him out.
I think Jesus said something like there lies will fined them out or something.
Karen: AOL, 300,000 voters polled, McCain winner in all areas, including 53% to 41% on “who will you vote for”. Drudge report, 250,000 polled so far….McCain winner of debate. Fox poll (don’t know how many) McCain declared winner 82%.
Rasmussen unreliable.
Good morning!
Did you all hear Nobama say he wants to end the Medicare subsidy?! That saves poorer, low-income seniors and the disabled hundreds, if not thousands, every years.
Also, watching on C-span, when he greeted his wife afterward, he said: “How’d WE do?”
#109 osaka puma Wow…that is an eye opener and with no coffee, my eyes are about to fall out!!
Do you know when they changed that law?
#107 hillary2008
When Obama gave that first speech way back when. We were dispirit for a savior but today we are looking for a leader.
Obama is NOT a leader. He just gave a nice speech once a long, long, time ago.
Hillary was dead on.
I’m not looking for a bubbly personality in my president. I want a doer not a talker and as McCain mentioned if you are going to talk the talk then walk the walk (which Obama borrowed the phrase later in the debate). McCain stated for American’s to look up what each of them has done as Senator and see for themselves.
Remeber, the BO people know he needs a 10 pt spread on election day to cover the Bradley effect. I do not think that he will come close. That Letter from 2006 is just the beginning, BO has more skeletons in his closet, McCain has been vetted, BO has not. I hate to say this but the republicans are so good at this, they come in fore the kill in the last weeks. They keep their cards close to their chests, the dems always blow it too early. God, i am actually cheering the Rove tactics. This election is too weird.
I am convinced now more than ever that McCain is the ‘right’ one to keep our country safe. Mr. “I have a braclet too” is embarrassing.
I tried to get 6000 from SunTrust yesterday and the flat out refused to give me the money. They said that they don’t have enough as it is. So if you have money with them I would inquire what is going on.
I for one am glad that McCain did not come out swinging…it would of made him look like he thought he was lossing the race! He got him so many times in a very subtle way…way to go John!
Look what they did to Hillary when she attempted to point out his lies…they destroyed her in the media.

mccain is not a very good BSer but i can live with that..
mccain did good last night and he probably wasnt totally prepared because of this economic crisis thing..
he will do better next time when he is more prepared..to use a horrible cliche.. mccain has something obama doesnt GRAVITAS..
Morning,
Woke up today ready to read that McCain had won the debate (as that’s what some media outlets like ABC said last night) and instead I once again find that the media is trying to spin this as a BO win. What a crazy world we live in.
By the way, I found this article in the U.K.’s Telegraph newspaper:
“Presidential debate verdict: No clear winner between John McCain and Barack Obama”
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/presidentialdebates/3091056/Presidential-debate-verdict-No-clear-winner-between-John-McCain-and-Barack-Obama.html
I have to say that I watched part of the debate on mute and BO just physically didn’t look healthy (to me) for some reason. McCain’s face seemed relaxed and at ease. If this was like the Kennedy-Nixon debate, BO was Nixon.
I remember watching the HC and BO debates and being sure that the media had to start telling the truth about the candidates after watching HC soundly defeat BO, but it never happened. I don’t know what these media people have been smoking, but if they think we are going to actually listed to their interpretation of events, they are off their rocker. I heard NBC was doing so badly they were looking for a buyer. Murdoch said he wasn’t interested and couldn’t buy them anyway because of SEC regulations.
Once again, we are living through one crazy time. If I am alive fifty years from now I will tell people about all this and they are going to think I’m making things up.
Best,
Lara08

#111 Fox had about 98000 votes.
Yours may be THE point about the bracelet thing.
John McCain spoke of his with reverence, as he did at the end of the debate.
Barack Obama just threw it out there like “me too!”, it was totally disrespectful, for crying out loud, he didn’t even know the man’s name. That, to me, indicates the regard in which (lack thereof, actually) he holds the individual members of our armed services.
nomore..
just very recently the requirements were lowered to zero for the banks..they were 10% for decades..i guess with the crisis they changed that

reviews-compiled by the bots:
9:40pm MSNBC Chris Matthews “Barack Obama, who kept agreeing with McCain over and over again…looked more presidential.”
9:43pm MSNBC Buchanan “He did what he had to do in the sense he came off as a tough fellow, a counterpuncher.”
9:40pm MSNBC Chris Matthews: “Obama Looked More Presidential”
9:45 PM CBS – Katie Couric: “The issue of meeting with Iranian officials without preconditions and Henry Kissinger’s position on that came up during my recent interview with Governor Sarah Palin. Now, after than interview I called Secretary Kissinger to clarify his position – he said he does support face-to-face talks with high-level officials in Iran without preconditions.”
10:42 PM ABC – David Wright: “Obama, we saw him do 22 debates or so during the primary. He was much crisper tonight, he was much more on message.”
10:45 PM FOX News – Juan Williams: “If we come back to the economic at the top, I’d have to give it to Barack Obama.”
10:52 PM CNN- David Gergen: “I think John McCain needed a clear victory tonight. I think a tie was not in his interests. He is behind. This is his best subject night because the last night, they’re going to be talking about the economy. I think he needed a clear victory tonight. I think that eluded him, even as strong as he was, I think Bill Bennett is absolutely right… but I don’t think he walked out of here with a clear victory of the kind he needed.”
CNN (Gloria Borger)- “I think you’d have to watch this debate, Anderson and say Obama held his own. He didn’t give an inch to McCain on the issues of talking with Iran.”
CBS News (Ambinder) “Knowledge Network Undecideds Give Debate To Obama”: According to CBS News / Knowledge Networks’ poll of undecided voters: 40% of uncommitted voters who watched the debate tonight thought Barack Obama was the winner. 22% thought John McCain won. 38% saw it as a draw. 68% of these voters think Obama would make the right decision about the economy. 41% think McCain would. 49% of these voters think Obama would make the right decisions about Iraq. 55% think McCain would.
Associated Press (Liz Sidoti) A night of contrasts This debate, primarily focused on foreign policy, was supposed to be McCain’s sweet spot; Obama held his own. “You were wrong” on Iraq, Obama repeated three times in succession as he pointedly looked his opponent in the eye. “John, you like to pretend the war began in 2007.”
The Atlantic (Marc Ambinder) The Rumble In Oxford: First Thoughts – McCain did not filter himself, letting his frustration and contempt for Obama show; he wouldn’t let himself look at the challenger.
NY Daily News – “Final Verdict on Eight Years of Failed Economic Policies.” After all those months of buildup, it took exactly 106 seconds for the gloves to come off, when Democrat Obama laid the blame for the current economic mess on Republican leadership in Washington. “This is a final verdict on eight years of failed economic policies promoted by George Bush [and] supported by John McCain,” Obama said, taking direct aim at his GOP opponent… Obama seemed at ease in the early rounds as McCain struggled to find his feet.
Philly Daily News – Will Bunch blog: McCain “Needs a Knockout” … “Didn’t Get It Tonight.” I think Obama held his own, which is what he needed to do. He clearly showed he was knowledgeable on foreign affairs, and made kind of silly the argument that Sarah Palin has more experience than he does. McCain was a lot more restrained than I would have expected. …McCain can’t afford to win on points. He needs a knockout. He didn’t get it tonight.
Denver Post PoliticsWest (John Andrews) Zinger at McCain – Obama landed a good jab with his reference to McCain “threatening extinction to North Korea” and “singing songs about bombing Iran.” McCain: “I’m not going to set the White House visitors schedule before I’m president. I don’t even have a seal yet.” Cute line at the Messiah’s expense, but it was wasted in this setting. Obama was impressive, agree with him or not, in his big picture statement near the end when he panned back from Iraq to talk about China, the economy, and the fate of empires in history. McCain for all his courage and honor didn’t paint on that kind of global canvas. More points scored into the Dem’s column.
Tampa Tribune (Blog) McCain’s Final Judgment: “Knowledge And Experience” McCain relied repeatedly on emotional but non-substantive or factually incorrect claims: That Obama “voted against funding the troops,” wouldn’t declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as terrorists, wants to increase taxes on people who make $42,000. But Obama’s vaunted eloquence, somewhat surprisingly, failed to overwhelm the nitpicking. The verdict: Probably a tie, which means McCain will probably hold his advantage on the issue. The future debates will be between the vice presidential contenders, and between McCain and Obama on domestic issues.
TNR Blog- Focus Groups, Undecideds For Obama: For what it’s worth: The Frank Luntz and Stanley Greenberg focus groups went overwhelmingly for Obama. And a CBS poll of undecideds went for Obama 40%-22%.

KarenWI,
“since McCain was behind in the polls, he needed to score here and score big.”
I agree. Clearly McCain was better than Obama but McCain needs to “hit it out of the park” in his debates. I didn’t see it last night. The average voter does NOT look into stuff like whether Obama was honest about Kissinger. The average voter hasn’t been paying attention about this election UNTIL now. Most voters are so uninformed about what’s going on in the world that it’s scary. Many will not watch the debates and will get their information from people like Bill Maher or David Letterman. Let’s face it folks, we have a bunch of morons in our country that don’t give a damn about finding out the truth in politics. The with a media that is soooo damn liberal and biased for Obama, it really hard to reach the idiot masses.
So, yes, I’m worried too.
dances..
sorry-the rest of the bot page:
10:48 PM ABC – George Stephanopoulos: “Barack Obama A minus, John McCain B plus….People wonder whether [Obama] has the experience to be President, to handle national security, and I think on answer after answer after answer, he showed confidence, he showed toughness and he showed he belonged on that stage.”
11:51 PM ABC – George Stephanopoulos: And overall, bottom line, the winner is Barack Obama. He comes into this race where the country wants change, his number one goal was to show that he belonged on that stage…he could hold his own on national security, he did that tonight, he gets the win.”
9:53 PM CBS – Myers: “Well, I think the one thing people were looking to, to see if Barack Obama could hold his own, could he sound like a commander in chief, did he have command of foreign policy issues, could he stand there toe-to-toe with John McCain and I think he passed that test with flying colors.”
10:30 PM CNN-Gloria Borger- “He took it right to mccain on the tax issue and said to people out there, if you earn over 200 — under $250,000 a year, nothing will happen to your taxes or you’ll get a tax cut.”
10:51 PM PBS – Scott Horsley – “I think John McCain’s conduct of economic policy over the last two days has to look a little erratic, has to look very seat of the pants, frankly.”
10:54 PM ABC – George Will: “I think Barack Obama came out and looked comfortable and as though he belonged there. So, in a sense, the structure of the debate, indeed, the fact of the debate had to give a mild leg up to Barack Obama.”
11:07 PM PBS-Mark Halperin – “I thought Obama clearly did better. I thought he had a chance to show that he was calm and prepared and capable of standing toe to toe with the more experienced McCain. I thought McCain spoke too much Washington jargon, told too many jokes in shorthand, made too many comments he knew what he meant but I don’t think he conveyed it necessarily to the audience overall. I thought Obama was the better communicator an did what he needed to do to reassure people.”
11:08 PM MSNBC-Richard Wolffe “That was the greatest contrast…the demeanor and the tone of voice that these candidates adopted where McCain was being much more pointed much more aggressive and curiously couldn’t look Obama in the eye. Obama’s tone much more straight and even keeled but ready to look his opponent in the eye repeatedly. A big contrast.”
Denver Post: Obama says he would send “two to three brigades” to Afghanistan. McCain implies that Obama is wet behind the ears on military matters. Obama retorts with perhaps his best line of the night because it critiques McCain’s temperament. Obama says that McCain has previously referenced extinction for North Korea and sang songs about bombing Iran, “so I don’t know how credible that is.”
Washington Post (Robinson)-The Debate: The All-Important Grumpiness Factor: Here’s the politically incorrect way of phrasing one of the central questions about tonight’s presidential debate: Did John McCain come across as too much of a grumpy old man. That might not be a nice question, but it’s an important one. Americans like to vote for the nice guy, not the grumbling prophet of doom. Throughout the 90-minute debate, McCain seemed contemptuous of Obama. He wouldn’t look at him. He tried to belittle him whenever possible — how many times did he work “Senator Obama just doesn’t understand” into his answers? His body language was closed, defensive, tense. McCain certainly succeeded in proving that he can be aggressive, but the aggression came with a smirk and a sneer.
Another question to PUMA –
Have you ever seen any Presidential Candidate at any formal debate ask the question – How did I do?
If the answer is yes, may be I just shut up!
If the answer is NO, this is the reason why BHO should go back to Chicago.
Psychologically anyone that is not sure of himself or anyone that needs reassurance that he is doing good will alone ask such a childish question. yes, it is rather juvenile.
ALSO MARK THIS, HE WILL GO TO THE PUBLIC TODAY AND SAY, HOW DID I DO?
Again, nothing more than adulation hungry. This is not a practical man AND
For those that don’t even know me through your responses or are reading my thoughts or comments the first time take this –
I have seen fewer debates compared to you. I have lived for a shorter time in the US compared to you and I have seen the most neutral media and sane journalism in the world compared to you.
My comment on the last night debate – If you are Muhammed Ali and when you take on a troubled Mike Tyson not in his questionable form what you do is not knock the opponent out but wear the opponent out so they would make errors forced and unforced kind. It is kind of technical KO. Just stand there knowing that the opponent comes out to begin with no ammunition or the requisite stamina or even a good defense technique you just let the audience get its money’s worth. Let the debate / match take its course and let the opponent concede defeat (like, I agree with you John).
There is no iota of doubt that it was McC (Ali) that won from the first bell all through the Final whistle and Tyson (BHO) could not even get to chew any ears (YOU, PUMA, independents and other undecided)
mick.. if thats the case you describe then were all screwed.. hehe
Katie Couric called Kissenger –in fact-he did say what BO said he said..
Good Morning from west coast. My feeling is that Obama does not care about anyone except himself. What a disgrace to the fallen soldier not to have his name remembered. Obama has no clue. He is a total disgrace. No respect for anyone other than himself. All he wants to do is win and he will do it at any expense. Off to go grocery shopping.
#131 McCain was behind on what polls? At the end of this week?
Thank God the public is on to the press. They know who is for them. I am sorry but I can’t read the obot reviews. I watched Chris Matthews, they reported that wrong.
C4hill….Couric is a moron sometimes. Kissinger verified his stance yesterday. He said McCain was absolutely right and Obama was wrong. He said he believed in meetings without preconditions with LOW LEVEL people.
#134 LotusBoy
Good point, he needed to be reassured.
Not Presidential.
hillary..i hear ya.. i cant stand to watch the obot talking heads on TV ..i get very agitated.. hehe
Hey, I was just polled by Zogby. That has never happened before. It was long, alot of race questions.
zogby had mccain ahead last time i looked a couple of days ago
I loved this statement!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Regarding Palin, has the question “what foreign leaders have you negotiated with” (Couric) been asked of Obama, or when they were running Governor Clinton, Governor Carter, or Governor Reagan? No. This is blatant hatchet job on Palin and she should have thrown it back at Couric and asked if she asked that question of Obama or Clinton etc.
Mark my words PUMAs….the Republicans haven’t done anything aggressive this election year, and we all know that is NOT how they operate.
They have something big up their sleeves, just waiting for the right time to let it out. Can’t wait to see what it is.
#129c4hill… I must have on the wrong channel and watched the wrong debate. I wasn’t watching the same debate those guys were watching. The debate I was watching McCain was relaxed and confident and Obama was sweating and jumpy. The debate I was watching McCain had “zingers” and Obama was on the defensive. The debate I watched McCain had FEELING (i.e. the bracelet) and Obama had only words (i.e. the bracelet). The debate I was watching McCain looked presidential and Obama looked like a kid in school who hadn’t learned any manners or etiquette yet. I still can’t believe that NOBODY in the media is talking about how his rudely interrupting McCain most of the time was not only un-presidential, it was unprofessional! You wouldn’t even be able to get away with that kind of behavior in a big business boardroom!!! That was childish, immature, and selfish.
Re: polls
Zogby said McCain was ahead.
sistermoon.. i hope palins advisors learned from that couric interview to prep her for such sneak attacks
I have concluded that Obama supporters are a vocal minority. They are so strident in their ‘movement’ that they have pushed out many who would have supported Hillary or that ‘imaginary’ democrat that the early polling indicated could win against any rupublican.
I think that early polling was what caused the Obama syndrome. The inner circle decided that Bush and the Rs were so unpopular that ANY democrat could win by a large margin. They were wrong.
#146 Deepsouth- I hope you’re right. I kinda thought that Hillary already unloaded most of the stuff there is, though…. plus there is a possiblity that the repubs are a bit “gunshy” afraid of being accused of being racist. There is one more possibility here… that, knowing how what HAS been released has been totally ineffective in stopping the Obama juggernaut, they aren’t going to release another one afraid it will backfire…
henrietta.. i’ve come to the conclusion that obama supporters are morons,fools, pests and idiots..
We need to turn off the TV, make the calls, walk the streets, and make sure BHO never gets near thge Oval Office. He will take his marbles back to Chicago. His ego would never allow him to go back to the senate.
Actually, I saw some bots I know at around 7 p.m. last night before the debate (I’m in CST) and they all gave me dirty looks and most wouldn’t speak to me because they know I’m not a BO supporter. They looked pretty sour. Whatever.
I will tell you what the big thing is: The Republicans will trot out Osama. I am positive that they have him or have control of him. When the time is right, maybe in the next week or so, they will tell us that he is:
henrietta.. obama supporters are definitely a different breed of “cat” then PUMAS ..hehe
obama cats.. some greasy ball of furr jumping out of a dumpster..
Morning Pumas.
McCain won last night. He came across as far more experienced, a man with a proven record (“I have a record. I have a record”), and he didn’t scare me or turn me off like some Bushian republicans do. I think it’s because he talked about climate change–working on that with Clinton, and he listed all the ways that he has fought against the Bush administration (torture, guantanamo, iraq war strategy, wasteful spending, and more). I liked that he brought up Obama voting for Cheney’s energy bill that was festooned with ornaments like a x-mas tree–billions of dollars to oil companies.
I liked that McCain called Obama out on voting to raise taxes on people making $42,000 a year, and then when Obama denied it, McCain said, “Look it up.” Also, I really liked that McCain brought up Obama calling for nearly 1 billion dollars in earmarks, and that Obama has an 800 billion dollar spending plan. Called Obama a “recent convert” on issues concerning taxes.
I liked when McCain said that Obama had the most liberal voting record, and how it’s harder to reach acroos the aisle when one is so far to the left. Good point.
I also like that McCain will budget, cut wasteful spending, and review all agencies and keep the ones that work and cut the ones that don’t. I really like this organizational–budget–clean up–transparency–no allowance for corruption attitude.
I didn’t like that McCain missed the opportunity to tell everyone that he is the one who proposed a bill to warn against Fannie and Freddie back in 2005.
About Iraq, I liked that McCain said that soldiers told him, “Let us win this, **we don’t want to have our children come back here.**
I like that McCain talked about his travels overseas, discussions with leaders, his record, his…commander-in-chief attitutude. Obama deferred to Biden on foreign policy. I thought that was weak.
McCain called Obama naive and dangerous for stating that he would attack Pakistan, “you don’t say that outloud,” and “we need to work with the people of Pakistan.” McCain referred to Obama as naive and dangerous for his Iraqi time table and removal (according to Petraeus).
McCain also mocked Obama when Obama said that he would sit down with Ahmadinejad: “So, let me get this straight–we sit down w/ Ahmadinejad, and he says, “We are going to wipe Israel off the face of the world”…and we say: “No you’re not?….Oh Please.”
McCain says Preconditions and Preparations is “just parsing words.”
McCain: “I looked into Putin’s eyes, and I saw a “K” a “G” and a “B”…KGB
McCain mentions taking care of vets a lot, not unlike Hillary.
McCain: “The American public known me *very* well.”
McCain: “I don’t have a seal yet.” (reminds everyone of O’s silly and incredible arrogance.
Obama: Brought up Kenya and hopey changey…O desperate to reinvigorate a time when that story had power back during Obama-mania, and it fell flat for me.
Ending:
McCain: Talks about bonding with nations we fought with (like Vietnam, and how he helped Clinton), and he says “I can heal the wounds of war.” I thought that was a very good ending, and I am glad McCain got last word.
Sidenote:
Did anyone notice that Obama physically looked like crap? The circles under his eyes and general tone? Either he wasn’t wearing makeup or too much, because he didn’t look like he was feeling good. And Obama just looked sour in general.
Jim Lehrer did a great job–very hands off and unbiased–it was refreshing.
The media I have seen is definitely not saying that Obama was fantastic, and McCain is getting his props as well.
I find it amazing that the media thinks BO won…he was scrambling for cover the how debate.
Karen, not to worry. The Rep. are anything but gunshy and could care less if they are accused of racism. Let’s face it every American has been accused of racism by the Bots. We have been accused ahead of time, should we choose not to vote for him.
Also, Obama hasn’t been vetted. There are documents proving he had a different name and practiced a different religion. He lied about both. He lied about having a different name under Oath in Illinois, yet no one has questioned him on it. He has not produced one shred of evidence that he is even a US citizen. All he produced was a phoney BC on his site and quickly removed it after 2 experts said it wasn’t valid. Why do that if you have the real deal?? He has not produced one shred of evidence that he was ever anything he claims to have been in college.
This guy is full of holes and I would be absolutely stunned if the Rep. don’t have any information that they will expose at the right time. They have the best attack dogs in politics.
Obama made quite a few mistakes last night during the debate. McCain was the clear winner on presentation of facts as accurate and on point.
The loquacious vacuous Obama, not so much.. My scorecard shows McCain the winner hands down.
Don’t believe the OBots and the MSM… McCain blew Obama’s doors off last night. McCain is the “quiet man”.
I live in Texas and voted for Hillary in the primaries. I had not yet decided which party I was going to vote for. I just wanted to have a vote against Obama. In TX when you register to vote they don’t ask whick party you belong to. I have a friend who lives in IL, and she was a hugh Hillary supporter and had voted for her. Now she is an Obot. She only watches MCNBC, and nothing else. She does not think that the election was stolen from Hillary or that was was sexism She said it was Hillary’s own fault about what happen in Fl. When she voted for Hillary, she mention she had to find the place when Dem’s vote. Is that normal practice in other states? I have never heard of such a thing. In Texas you go to the polling place that is near your house. Dem’s and Republicans stand in the same line. I just cannot understand my friends point of view in only voting in one party, no matter what. No wonder our Country is in such a mess. Of course I also had to hear you’re not voting for him because he Black, but yet she can turn around and call Gov. Palin a tart.
No, I’ve never heard of having different polls for Dems and Reps. Did she really vote? Sounds made up.
That “you are not voting for him because he is black” line is so nonsensical. By the way, the bots are also the same people who go around calling Palin a whore (although you used the nicer word “tart”). I don’t know what is happening to these people. They’ve lost their manners. Ask this person why she is voting for BO. If she is voting for him because he is Black, then they need to start asking deeper questions about his policies and his experience. If they don’t believe anything wrong happened in the primaries refer them to the lynettelong website. We might also have info on caucus fraud here in the action center.
gumbycat… i couldt take standing in the same line with obama riff raff..
every time i get near one of those fools i break out in a rash..
I agree with this guy on MM blog. Here’s an example of two BIG missed opportunities for McCain …
Q1: Why did McCain say he has “spoken out” about Fannie and Freddie instead of talking about his introduction of legislation in 2003 to provide further regulation/oversight of F & F.
Q2: Obama immed answers a question of what he plans to cut during this financial crisis with a laundry list of his proposals for new spending programs. McCain misses an easy opening to say just that…”Obama was asked what he would cut and answered how he would spend”.
Again, McCain wasn’t as quick as he needed to be. BUT this is just one of three debates so he has time to review his preformance and learn and come back stronger.
Off to make calls for McCain. The other day I told them that I was a puma, this woman was so cute she said,”I won’t see you next time when Hillary runs against us, will I?” We agreeded to work together for the common good, keep Obama in Chicago! Bye.
I know it is tacky to comment on how a candidate looks and not debate substance but…. BO is getting way skinny. It is not a good look, it looks stressed. His suit looks over sized and it is his face that looks gaunt.
#188 gumbykat
Also, don’t feel too hurt by what your friend said. I know she seems really irrational, but we all have to deal with really irrational people right now. They have invested a lot in BO and they are going to be really lost when he loses in November. Bots seem new to the political world. I would try not to talk to her about politics until after the election. If she continues to call you a racist, I personally would ask her not to contact you anymore. I don’t want to break up your friendship, but at my age (I’m in my 30s) I’ve come to realize that friends come and go. You know you believe in the equality of all peoples ( I assume that’s the case) then that person has no right to insult you.
mick.. watch the debate again and notice little nuances of obama physically trying to intimidate mccain and calling him often by his first name..constantly trying to engage mccain in a staring match with that angry threatening expression on his face..pointing his finger at mccain..these were all rehearsed by his little campaign dingleberries
Yes, I noticed and commented about BO’s appearance also. I used the word “sickly” but you are right that he may just look that way because he lost weight.
#199…. I know that prior to the debate I’d heard that Obama was going to do his best to try to get McCain to lose his temper. I think by McCain NOT looking at Obama it took away Obama’s ability to do that. I think that (in spite of what MSM thinks) Obama was the one who lost his cool and McCain stayed cool as a cucumber (hmmm… wonder where that phrase started).
lara.. it has come to my attention that obama supporters have some weird type of personality disorders that they feel the need to have someone tell them what to do,take care of their needs,solve ALL their problems..
they say people got really weird and society was corrupt during the fall of the roman empire.. NERO and all that.. maybe were going through the same thing..
Regarding rabid BOites. First of all the ones who have tried to do their thing on me are all too young to vote. But I throw this out to them. BO pays women in his Senate office only 78% of what he pays the men. This has been pointed out time and again and BO does nothing about it. He put a man in as his VP who only won about 10,000. votes and refused to put a woman on who won 18 million. He doesn’t have a category on his Senate page for “women’s issues” although he has about 25 other categories. Look at his behavior not at his words, words are cheap.
Then you have to answer the Palin related BO talking points (lies) which the MSM repeat so frequently they develop credibility with the vapid.
But I have noticed BOites developing a sort of pitched feverish mania. It is really odd.
I don’t know if all bots are the same, but the trend I’ve seen is that older people (50s and 60s) have been lying to young people and misleading them to get them to vote for BO. These older people (possibly hippies from the 60s) have told young people that we are racists and that we don’t want to help America. They’ve demonized us. Younger people (who haven’t had a lot of contact with those who aren’t their age) have bought this. After all, why would an older and possibly more educated person mislead them? That’s the part that I find most objectionable. It makes me angry that these people would lie to the impressionable (knowing full well they are manipulation them).
mick.. you want mccain to walk over to obama and kick his ass for emphasis.. ?
hey,i can go for that..hehe
What do we make of that some of us reported that BO looked like he was being fed by someone in the audience? Any ideas?
I still think that BO will drop Biden if things don’t pick up immediately. It may be that the “cat who ate the canary” look on Bill’s face after he met with BO and said he would support him was the result of such an agreement. If Hill does indeed run with BO, not many of us will be swayed, but some Dems out there who have always voted Dem may go with her. They will be buying her, but they will get the I-Man.
#210 I meant to say “manipulating.”
lara.. i was one of those 60s hippies and i can tell you most of them were a bunch of phonies and racist as hell..they just wanted to get high and get laid and do as little as possible..
#212 Someone mentioned that last night. If someone finds evidence that BO was being given info from offstage they should post it ASAP.
ATTENTION ALL PUMAS: WE MUST ACT NOW!!!
I am a PUMA. I’m also part of the CentralNJPUMAs. I have always been a strong Hillary supporter, volunteered at the NJ Headquarters, donated lots of money I really didn’t have, argued with
neighbors to convince them Obama is not the right choice. Most now have buyers remorse.
I mentioned on your blog that I went to a local McCain event to which you commented on. The more I see McCain the more I admire him. It is a no brainer to me that Obama can’t hold a candle to McCain in so many aspects, especially character, the love of this country, and experience.
I believe we, the PUMAs, and the independents, are what will decide this election. It is such a close race. We are finally being recognized as a force to be reckoned with. I know our common goal is to make sure Obama doesn’t win, but in all honesty the only way to ensure that is to physically vote for the other guy.
If PUMA made an official endorsement of McCain, it would PETRIFY the Obama camp and the DNC. Let them not think we are scattered in thought and
action. Let them know we are unifying and are making this bold and game changing move. The DNC must be punished for what they did and how they treated Hillary. Let’s use our influence and numbers to truly make a statement and make a difference in the outcome to this election. By doing so, other Clinton supporters who are undecided might come to see that
Obama is not an option.
Thanks for considering and thank you MURPHY, for doing all that you have done and continue to do for us disenfranchised democrats.
lara.. i suspect obama was given the questions ahead of time.. i think the debate was rigged ..so its more to mccains credit that he still managed to win
Notice how baby Obama had to ask his mommy Michelle, “how did I do”. His interruptions made him sound like a petulant child.
#211 osaka,
Seriously though, I don’t want McCain to come across as aggressive. The Obots and the drive-by media would love that!! But he definitely needs to up the passion level more. McCain got better as the debate went on, I thought that the last hour was better than the first 30 mins.
#214 Ha ha
Well, then, tell me if I’m wrong in my assessment. I think that these hippies want to have a legacy and they are using young bots to “accomplish” what couldn’t be accomplished in the 60s. As far as them being racists, they seem to feel comfortable doing for people of color and telling us what to do, but not in really letting us have leadership roles and having our own ideas (because our ideas might differ from theirs). Am I wrong?
I think it’s because we are getting closer to the election. And each day it will get worse. Because (and I hope this doesn’t sound ‘racist’) in many of their homes I have been in, they talk about overcoming the whites, who they blame for any and all misfortunes in their lives. ‘They’ can get worked up into a fevered pitch while talking about this. And, because this is their best and only chance to see a black man elected, I think it’s going to get worse. They definitely don’t share our opinions of him, MO or ACORN and other associates.
There does seem to be a certain mania there that goes back to the idea they’ve been fed that McCain is the antichrist and the world will end if he is elected. I am about 90% sure BO will lose in November but if by some miracle he wins I am very interested in living in BO’s utopian America. He is apparently going to solve all of our problems with a snap of his fingers. Right.
Want to feel better? Take a gander at the Drudge Report poll here:
I agree, each time some staunch Hillary supporters come out in support of McCain, we post their comments all over this blog.
If we truly are disgusted with the way the DNC, the RBC, Dean, Pelosi, et. al. then we should throw our support for McCain as a true Protest Vote….
Then perhaps Murphy can speak with her other Pac leaders ie., The Confluence, Just Say No Deal and others.
#220 Lara08 : I think you are right. These old hippy liberal men are profoundly sexist, and they think God sent them to be the benevolent rescuers of folks of color, who IMO don’t need rescuing but instead need self representation in a democratic government. I am a middle aged white woman, (actually I am only middle aged if people live to be 112) and to me BO seems like a puppet. I am sure that at least 50 far more qualified people of color could have been picked by the Dems if the goal was to run a qualified person of color for President. But the goal was to get a puppet they could sell and control. That is why I feel sorry for BO sometimes. He is obviously narcissistic and he is being manipulated by these old hippy guys the same way they are manipulating the BOites.
terrydo.. i think your suggestion is a good one worthy of serious consideration..
Obama:
I’m glad the Senator McCain brought up the bipartisan history of us engaging in direct diplomacy. Senator McCain mentioned Henry Kissinger who is one of his advisors who along with 5 Secretaries of State just said that we should meet with Iran; Guess what? He said without preconditions. This is one of your own advisers…
McCain:
Look. Dr. Kissinger did not say that he would approve a face to face meeting between the President of the United States and Ahmadinejad. he did not say that. He said there could be lower level meetings. I’ve always encouraged them. The Iranians have met with Ambassador Crocker in Baghdad.
What senator Obama doesn’t understand is that without precondition you sit down with someone who has called Israel a stinking corpse and wants to destroy that country and wipe it off the map, you legitimize those comments. This is dangerous. This isn’t just naive… By the way, Dr. Kissinger who has been my friend for 35 years would be interested to hear Senator Obama’s depiction on the issue. I’ve known him for 35 years
Obama: (interrupting)
Lets take a look.
McCain:
And I, guarantee you that he would not say that presidential top level.
Obama: (interrupting)
Nobody’s talking about that.
McCain:
Of course, he’s encouraging contacts and negotiations and other things. We do that all the time. And, Senator Obama is parsing words when he says “preconditions” means “preparations.”
Whoa!! That was a smackdown. This was one of McCain’s best moments and we need about 10 of these in each debate!!
Yes, I forgot about the gender factor. I apologize to those liberal white men in their 50s and 60s who may blog here and who may also believe in gender-equality, but my experience has been that men of their generation are pretty sexist. They were not able to escape their 1950s upbringing. They “like” minorities and women that they can manipulate but are really taken aback when we begin to speak for ourselves.
Wish I could stay on longer because we are on a thread that I find interesting, but I have to force myself to go to the gym now. Unlike BO, instead of losing weight I’ve been gaining. Yikes. Bye all. -Lara08
Thank you Osaka Puma and Terry Do. I think that’s a great idea. we HAVE TO ACT NOW! WE ARE WASTING PRECIOUS TIME going back and forth on how much we can’t stand Obama. LET’S DO SOMETHING POWERFUL AND MEANING WITH OUR INCREDIBLE PUMA MOVEMENT. LET’S MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
228 NobamaNetwork It’s a shame, if not a crime, that this article, or at least excerpt of it, are not aired on MSM. BO is the biggest threat to America, or America as I know it, I’ve ever seen.
236 Seattlegirl ” I am a middle aged white woman, (actually I am only middle aged if people live to be 112)”
You crack me up, Girlfriend. I’m right there with ya.
PUMA CANNOT make an official endorsement of John McCain. Perhaps it would be a statement describing many PUMAS, but certainly NOT ALL. We almost lost two of our most active and appreciated PUMAS when it was perceived by them that this blog was campaigning for McCain rather than AGAINST OBAMA.
We don’t want to go down that road again!
somebody explain to me why Sh*t for brains is up in the polls 6 points???????????? What debate where they watching???
239 Lara08 Let’s not forget the image of women presented by Hollywood. I think that has as big an influence on how women are perceived as anything else might have.
If half of what has been said about this guy is true, the republicans are saving it for the last minute, when they are the point of not return for the democrats, I though that it was going to happen a few days after the rep.convention, maybe they are wating for events to unfold by the very same demo. party, that way they do not have to do the dirty job
my 2 cts on this (borrowed from someone on the blog)
Look at the way bimbo looks, skinny, stressed, tired etc
Look at the way BILL CLINTON looks, happy,praising MCCAIN-PALIN, etc
it looks to me that BC knows something, I could be entirely wrong, but it looks to me that way
Does someone have the link HANDY regarding BO texting his bots to watch the debate on CNN, and then after being found out, telling them watch any station
No wonder the CNN poll favored BO.
Morning PUMAs.
Rest in peace, Paul Newman. You were a great man.
A couple of things I noticed last night about the poverty pimps platform: He is not willing to ‘talk’ to the leader of Pakistan, but is willing to attack to get Bin Laden. He will build nuclear plants too, oh, and drill off coast. I guess he dumped his ‘peace loving’ platform in the trash last night… and the two things he said that will keep his Obots happy… he will not tax 95% of the public and will take care of them. Let’s see how long that lasts, where is he going to get all that money to pass his platform? Oh right, ACORN in the bail out will support his people.
Check with Murphy but my understanding was that PUMA as a political action committee CANNOT endorse a candidate.
lilibet: That is a shame. Then call it a day and say hello to Obama the next President of the United States. Being against Obama means voting for the other person. Otherwise, HOW ARE YOU GOING TO STOP BO FROM WINNING. The truth is there are too many people out there that BLINDLY follow BO.
We need to ask ourselves: WHAT IS IT WE ARE HOPING FOR THEN IF WE ARE AGAINST BO? LOGIC IS THAT WE HOPE MCCAIN WINS, RIGHT? And how can we make that happen? BY OFFICIALLY ENDORSING AND VOTING FOR MCCAIN.
If you are referring to Rasmussen, their poll was taken before the debate. I agree, what were these people smoking?
FYI, MSNBC pulled the ad that focused on McCain’s bout with cancer.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME EVIDENCE FROM YOU THAT “OLDER PEOPLE IN THEIR 50S OR 60S are lying to “impressionable “younger people.
Since lies and false impressions a re methods of the Obama campaign, perhaps you could spend some time outing some of Obama’s methods.
Lilibet – I think that I am going for a walk and let the others talk about current events – want to go with me – I appreciate all your comments and especially the one the other day about one or two that posts every other post – rather than action – there is something in their email right now if they respond to the action item that will get things going rather than just talking – in my own personal opinion – off to do more letters to the editors that is productive rather than singing to the choir.
In spite of the fact that voting for Obumma’s opponent is probably the most effective way to defeat ONo, conscience often overrides strategy. There are many Pumas who cannot violate their principles by pulling the lever for McCain.
The one goal all Pumas have in common is to defeat Owewouldbescrewed. How we vote is personal.
#243 NobamaNetwork: I can’t explain the polls. But clearly the MSM is not mainstream any more and so what ever they say you can be sure is not relevant.
ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos: “These guys came to play on each other’s turf. It was really surprising to me is that John McCain came in here with a disadvantage on the economy. Barack Obama had a big advantage, yet I think he spent the 30 minutes very effectively pounding home the points that have to control spending and earmarks.” (ABC News’ “Vote 08: The Candidates Debate,” 9/26/08)
Stephanopoulos: “I thought other interesting stylistic differences, John McCain, good on emotion, good on establishing emotional connections with his stories.” (ABC News’ “Vote 08: The Candidates Debate,” 9/26/08)
MSNBC’s Pat Buchanan: “John McCain clearly won this battle on points. He was aggressive all evening long. He was very tough. He constantly portrayed Barack directly and indirectly as sort of weak and indecisive and inconstant making these statements. He also had a most powerful, emotional moments. I think that Wolfsborough story and that 640 guys re-upping in Iraq, and that woman giving him that bracelet–I think those things reached the heart and the gut. I will say this about Barack Obama. He did what he had to do in the sense that he came off as a tough fellow, a counterpuncher who would stand up to John McCain, and I think he helped himself in that regard, but overall I really think John McCain came off as the winner of this debate, but I go directly to Chris’ point.” (MSNBC’s “Presidential Debate,” 9/26/08)
“Obama To McCain: You’re ‘Absolutely Right’” (Susan Davis, “Obama To McCain: You’re ‘Absolutely Right,’” The Wall Street Journal’s “Washington Wire” Blog, blogs.wsj.com, 9/26/08)
CBS’ Jeff Greenfield: “I also think that McCain in the section on foreign policy also gave a strong performance when he said we can’t snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.” (CBS News’ “Campaign ’08 Presidential Debate,” 9/26/08)
NBC’s Tom Brokaw: “That was the most distinctive difference obviously once we got into the area of national security. John McCain bored in on Barack Obama. He’s been reading the same polls we all have. There are grave reservations in most of the polls about whether Barack Obama has enough experience and whether he’s qualified to be commander in chief. And tonight Senator McCain went right after that vulnerability in Barack Obama.” (NBC’s “Presidential Debate Coverage,” 9/26/08)
The New York Times’ David Brooks: “I think McCain was sharp and experienced.” (PBS’ “Post-Debate Analysis,” 9/26/08)
The Politico’s Jeanne Cummings: “When we moved into foreign affairs, clearly john McCain hit his stride. It is his strength, and he showed, demonstrated that he is quite knowledgeable.” (PBS’ “Post-Debate Analysis,” 9/26/08)
ABC News’ Rick Klein: “9:12 pm CT: … This is another area where McCain is in his comfort zone. He’s having a long discussion on the preconditions line.” (Rick Klein, “Live Debate Blog,” ABC News, blogs.abcnews.com, 9/26/08)
Klein: “9:20 pm CT: Meaty discussion on Russia — with lots and lots of Russian names for McCain to pronounce. If people care about this, McCain looks strong.” (Rick Klein, “Live Debate Blog,” ABC News, blogs.abcnews.com, 9/26/08)
MSNBC’s Norah O’Donnell: “He [McCain] had a good night on the very issue of taxes and spending. He did seem to dominate the first 30 minutes.” (MSNBC’s “Presidential Debate,” 9/26/08)
The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder: “10:19: McCain’s strong on non-Iraq foreign policy issues.” (Marc Ambinder, “The Debate: Liveblogging IV,” The Atlantic’s “Marc Ambinder” Blog, marcambinder.theatlantic.com, 9/26/08)
Geraghty: “But the overall message of the night was clear – McCain is smart, familiar with the issues on a striking level of detail, knows what he wants to do: ‘I don’t think I need any on the job training. I’m ready to go right now… I know how to deal with our adversaries, and I know how to deal with our friends.’” (Jim Geraghty, “A Surprisingly Strong Night For McCain, While Obama Energizes His Base,” National Review Online’s “The Campaign Spot” Blog, campaignspot.nationalreview.com, 9/26/08)
You can vote or endorse anyone you like. The 42% of Clinton voters that are not voting for the PovertyPimp are not all undecided…they have stood steadfast…call us undecided or a pet rock, they are not votes for obie. We will have to see if that number ever changes.
7.56 Million people voted for Clinton, most are pumas and even if obie walks on water, we won’t change our minds.
“The Mac Is Back,” As “McCain Not Only Found A Central Theme But Hit On It Repeatedly”
Politico’s Roger Simon: “John McCain was very lucky that he decided to show up for the first presidential debate in Oxford, Miss., Friday night. Because he gave one of his strongest debate performances ever. While Barack Obama repeatedly tried to link McCain to the very unpopular George W. Bush, Bush’s name will not be on the ballot in November and McCain’s will. And McCain not only found a central theme but hit on it repeatedly. Obama is inexperienced, naive, and just doesn’t understand things, McCain said. Sure, McCain is a pretty old guy for a presidential candidate, but he showed the old guy did not mind mixing it up. He stood behind a lectern for 90 minutes without a break — you try that when you are 72 — and he not only gave as good as he got, he seemed to relish it more. At least twice after sharp attacks by McCain, Obama seemed to look to moderator Jim Lehrer for help, sa ying to Lehrer, ‘Let’s move on.’” (Roger Simon, “The Mac Is Back,” Poltico, 9/27/08)
“It Was One Of The Most Substantive Debates In Recent Presidential Campaign History And John McCain Won It. The Arizona Senator Was Cool, Informed And Forceful …”
The Des Moines Register’s David Yepsen: “It was one of the most substantive debates in recent presidential campaign history and John McCain won it. The Arizona senator was cool, informed and forceful in Friday’s first presidential debate of the general election campaign. He repeatedly put Barack Obama on the defensive throughout the 90 minutes session. Obama did little to ease voter concerns that he’s experienced enough to handle foreign and defense policy. That was his number one task Friday night and he failed.” (David Yepsen, “McCain Wins Round 1,” The Des Moines Register’s “On Politics” Blog, http://www.desmoinesregister.com, 9/26/08)
The New Republic’s Michael Crowley: “McCain also had a clarity of message that Obama lacked. His core message is easy to sum up: Let’s cut waste and spending. I’m a tough leader. Obama is naive and unprepared. Obama, by contrast, had no single message that he repeatedly drove home.” (Michael Crowley, “McCain Was Good. But Good Enough?” The New Republic’s “Stump” Blog, blogs.tnr.com, 9/26/08)
ABC’s David Wright: “McCain, too, not only had a strong performance tonight, but seemed to have a strategy throughout. As George said, you heard him mention over and over again, Senator Obama doesn’t seem to understand. He also kept mentioning his travel schedule. I’ve been to Waziristan, I’ve been to South Ossetia, and at the very end he paid it off with his humdinger of a line at the end, saying that basically, he doesn’t need on the job experience. I think the McCain campaign is very pleased with it.” (ABC’s “Vote ’08: Presidential Debate Analysis,” 9/26/08)
The New York Times’ Bill Kristol: “I think McCain won the debate. I think there will be a deal this weekend and he will be vindicated in his efforts to some degree to have actually dealt with reality as opposed to going around giving stump speeches and the McCain campaign will have momentum going into next week and that will set up the Palin-Biden debate.” (Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” 9/26/08)
Real Clear Politics’ Blake Dvorak: “[M]cCain performed well, putting Obama on the defensive on several occasions and getting in some good one-liners.” (Blake Dvorak, “Who Won…?” Real Clear Politics’ “The Real Clear Politics” Blog, time-blog.com, 9/26/08)
The Atlantic’s Ross Douthat: “A Win For McCain.” (Ross Douthat, “A Win For McCain,” The Atlantic’s “Ross Douthat” Blog, rossdouthat.theatlantic.com, 9/26/08)
Commentary’s Jennifer Rubin: “Only the most devoted partisan could deny it was a very, very strong outing for John McCain. On foreign policy he was devastating — making clear how much more resolute and experienced he is.” (Jennifer Rubin, “The Winner,” Commentary’s “Contentions” Blog, http://www.commentarymagazine.com, 9/26/08)
“McCain Was Repeatedly On The Offensive And To Some Extent, Obama Was On The Defensive”
Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss: “[J]ohn McCain was repeatedly on the offensive and to some extent, Obama was on the defensive. I was surprised by that. in terms of strategy, we’ll see what works. But often times in debates, if a candidate does go on the offensive, it does tend to work. That’s what Kennedy did in 1960. It’s what Ronald Reagan did in 1980 and it is what Bill Clinton did in 1992.” (PBS’s “Presidential Debate,” 9/26/08)
The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza: “McCain’s strongest moment of the debate also happened to be Obama’s weakest. McCain absolutely hammered Obama over his pledge to meet with rogue foreign leaders without preconditions and Obama had no ready answer — odd since he had to know this attack was coming. McCain was able to turn a single question about meeting with rogue leaders into an extended colloquy that ended with him hitting Obama for misunderstanding Henry Kissinger. A very good moment for McCain.” (Chris Cillizza, “The Mississippi Debate: First Thoughts And Who Won?” The Washington Post’s “The Fix” Blog, voices.washingtonpost.com, 9/26/08)
* Cillizza: “He poked fun at his age several times, jabbed Obama playfully yet effectively (I don’t even have a presidential seal’) and seemed in command of the subject matter and the stage. When moderator Jim Lehrer said at one point that the two candidates had spoken for almost the same amount of time, we were surprised; McCain seemed from our perspective to command more time.”
(Chris Cillizza, “The Mississippi Debate: First Thoughts and Who Won?” The Washington Post’s “The Fix” Blog, voices.washingtonpost.com, 9/26/08)
Los Angeles Times: “But McCain closed strongly, becoming more assertive in the debate’s final 30 minutes and zinging Obama time and again as out of his league on foreign policy.” (Don Frederick and Kate Linthicum, “Live-Blogging The Presidential Debate: McCain, Obama Start Out Sparring Over The Economy,” Los Angeles Times’ “Top Of The Ticker” Blog, latimesblogs.latimes.com, 9/26/08)
CNN’s Alex Castellanos: “The old fighter pilot I thought hit the target. He demonstrated great command, names, places, name dropping is not a bad thing in a foreign policy debate like this sometime and he even got under Barack Obama’s skin.” (CNN’s “Debate Coverage,” 9/26/08)
OBAMA MISSPOKE?!
During the debate this jumped out at me when BO said 2 yrs ago he (don’t have exact quote) he warned about the Russian threat! See my e-mail to Fox this morning, no response yet.
Could someone in your research dept. check this out? Senator Obama said in the debate last night he spoke/warned of the Russian/Georgian aggression 2 yrs ago. BUT I believe it was Hillary Clinton who did.
Now compare this to a press release from Hillary on the issue back in April:
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?id=7171
john..
thank you thank you thank you.. you have brightened up my day and i feel good..
IMO, BO has a look, an air about him that expresses pure contempt and hatred. It is the same look I’ve observed in others since childhood.
Even tho I am half native american, I don’t know whose genes I got, but definitely not Sacajawea’s or Pocahontas’s, as I am tall, blonde, blue-eyed and light enough to pass for ‘white’.
I was raised in a very small, rural area of the northern part of Lower Michigan. The first time I ever saw a ‘person of color’ was when my parents went to visit my Mom’s parents in Lansing. My Grandfather took me to a large community swimming pool (I think I was maybe 5 or 6) I remember, vividly, running up to the edge of the water, wading in and suddenly saw a group of AA children . All I could do was stare in open-mouthed awe. That was my first experience with that ‘look’. Just before half a dozen of them jumped me and held my head under the water as I kicked until my grandpa rescued me.
Later, in my teens, like maybe 15, we moved to the city where my father’s parents lived (Battle Creek) There I encountered the same ‘look’ and was treated the same way physically on 4 or 5 occassions.
It taught me to beware of my surroundings and circumstances.
Finally, in my 20′s, I was able to establish a real friendship with a AA. I’m thankful for that experience because I learned that people are not all the same and that it’s possible to see people individually.
Today, I have friends from many cultures and I love the diversity in the world.
I don’t hate anyone, but when I see that ‘look’ in BO’s face and eyes, and in MO’s, I know it for what it really is. And THAT I despise.
THANKS, BILLI JO!
OMG Obama live did the fainting act thing again.
OMG he has nothing new! Wow what a rube.
Out of the mouths of immigrants…
Bill Clinton was on the view when I was having a manicure. He made the obligatory statement that he expected Obama to win. My middle-aged Vietnamese manicurist looked at me, shook her head, and said “I don’t think so” and we both laughed.
Later in the week, I had to give an oral English test to a student who was an architect from Colombia. When I questioned him about watching TV, he went on an entire spiel about Hillary during the debates and how great she was, and why did they nominate that other one?
Needless to say, he passed the test.
This is only anecdotal but I think people of other countries can see through Obama, and I trust that American citizens can, too.
wouldn’t it be sort of awkward dancing with a puma..?
Well it is OK to endorce McCain on other web sites under a different handle. However, PUMA was founded by Murphy and she has decided to not endorce McCain and simply oppose Obama. Since Murphy founded PUMA and this web site, I feel we should honor her decision.
I am opposed to Obama with all my heart and soul. I did some logical reasoning and decided to support McCain and Palin this one election. My major support is for Hillary who I will vote for in a flash at every opportunity. Until then I hope to make an opening for Hillary in 2012 by voting for McCain.
PUMA and this web site has decided to follow what I consider to be a well thought out and good course. Of course it could choose differently but it chose what it chose and I support PUMA as now operating. That means we do not support any candidate but do support not voting for Obama.
Of course I have not problem with policy since I can not stand Obama and I love Hillary. Everything fits me just perfectly. This is my home. I love it here.
To me a vote for McCain is like two votes. It will take one vote to overcome my vote and a second one to count. If I were to abstain from voting then the first vote for Obama would count. I want to cancel out at least one Obama vote.
I live in Mass which is heavily favored for Obama but I talk to everyone and work to get McCain elected and Obama defeated. I have the hope that Mass will defeat Obama. But the real prize is who wins the overall Gen Election. As long as Obama loses I will be super happy.
good afternoon my PUMA family!! I just posted something in HP, but you know what? I decided to come back here, it has come a time when reading the things Obamabots say about him make me sick in my stomach, so I prefere not to go here as often as I used to do to defend Hillary. I’d rather spend my energy fighting not to have him nominated as president than post in a place that is blindly sold to Uhbama. I enjoyed the debate, well, I could not see it all, I was too tired, but I laughed at the way Uhhbama could not handle McCain. He looked pale at times, and the “energy” and “security” he showed at the very beginning started to vanish as the truth was spoken. He could not handle the truth, he just pointed that finger showing how desperate he was getting. Senator McCain proved to be relaxed and did not play Uhhbama’s game, he tried to provoke McCain but I guess he has been around for too long to let him play him.
What IS Dick Morris up to?? Someone here said he is trying to piss people off to get them to vote. After reading this article I have to say maybe they were right……
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/political_commentary/commentary_by_dick_morris/the_brilliance_of_mccain_s_move
I feel that McCain won the debate. I also knew that the MSM would make it look like BO won…nothing new!! The only suggestion I would have for McCain is that he needs to convince the American people that he will do someting about the economy and jobs. BO just gave us more of the same…rehearsed statements with no depth…At least he is being consistently narcissistic…all about himself!! I remember when Kerry debated Bush…the MSM had him winning every debate…and he eventually lost the election…so there’s is still hope for a BO defeat!!
Here is an interesting take on the debate and bracelet issue..
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/matthew-sheffield/2008/09/27/ive-got-bracelet-too
I went to Factcheck to see if I could find anything on BO’s warning 2 yrs. ago about Russian/Georgian problem. Nothing there.
cyber.. i think its great dick morris is appreciating mccains genius.. i think that is so cool..
299 Thanks, so he was just taking credit for something Hillary said. I wish Fox would get on top of it.
286 osaka puma Is that ‘email blaster’ a free software program?
I wonder if there is a way to do a class-action lawsuit against MSM for biased reporting.
Murphy,
A.C.O.R.N is going to hi-jack this election if the American majority doesn’t jump on them with both feet. One thing we can all do is spread the word and the easiest thing for all of us online to do is find documented links and post them EVERYWHERE!! Is this something worthy of the action center? We can all research and find these links together and put them up at the action center. Links on the msm bias should probably be included.
Just one link can reach an untold number of people because they will tell others, who will tell others, who will tell others……..we can set up our own echo chamber. In fact, I know of no other way to reach enough people in time.
#297 CyberFerret52…I saw Morris on FOX last night and he said that BO won the debate. He criticized McCain for not saying anything at the debate about going back to the Senate to deal with the bailout…Morris flip flops….I don’t trust him…especially for how he treated Hillary during the primaries!
Man – no one mentions what was the BEST line in the whole debate .. When they were taking about Pakistan and MC was saying that xo had said he would invade , and MC said ” You don’t say that OUT LOUD ” he might as well have finished it by saying , ” You freaking MORON ” it was beautiful …
Good afternoon everyone, if this was posted already sorry, if you haven’t voted yet please do. Towards middle
It goes into the history of the economic problem that we have, and how subprime mortages led to the crisis. Obama and his advisers have a starring role. It’s 9 minutes long.
#97 Mick,
So called undecided voters are those old fashioned Americans who still feel their vote is personal and “nobody’s business”.
They are also people with old fashion good manners.
When asked who they are voting for they are being polite rather than rude by saying they haven’t decided yet when in reality they actually have. Again, it’s simply nobody else’s business.
Hope my explanation has helped figure things out for you regarding “undecided” voters.
The Drudge has become my new media hero in this election.
Debate vote has pulled in 337,039 votes (people that have gone and voted at the site since last night and it is still going. This is a huge readership)
I tried to re-vote, and I can’t so it’s real. I have been telling PUMAs for weeks to post their good articles on Drudge and many I have posted off the blog made it there. Please inform others besides just the blog. We are smart because we share information…pass it on:
MURPHY AND PUMAS,
DON’T BE DISCOURAGED OVER WHAT THE MEDIA IS SAYING ABOUT THE DEBATE. JOHN MCCAIN WON HANDS DOWN. THE MEDIA IS BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BY SPECIAL INTERESTS THAT WANT A PUPPET PRESIDENT.
AXELROD’S PERCEPTION IS REALITY IS AT WORK HERE. OBAMA’S MINIONS ARE SKEWING THE POLLS AND THE PURPOSE IS TO CONVINCE YOU THAT OBAMA IS INEVITABLE. DON’T FALL FOR IT!!! FIGHT!!! It just seems so un-American to have a President named ‘Hussein’.
President Bush decides to take a break and go out to sit in a local bar.
A guy walks in and asks the barman, ‘Isn’t that President Bush sitting at the end of the bar?’
The bartender says, ‘Yep, that’s him.’
So the guy walks over and says, ‘Wow, this is a real honor! What are you doing in here?’
Bush says, ‘ I’m planning WW III.’
Then the guy says, ‘Really? What’s going to happen?’
Bush says, ‘Well, I’m gonna kill 14 0 million Muslims and one blonde with big boobs.
The guy exclaimed, ‘A blonde with big boobs?
Why kill a blonde with big boobs?’
Bush turns to the bartender and says,
‘See, I told you, no one gives a shit about the 140 million Muslims.
Oops! Hope I don’t get booted for that. I didn’t like being ‘Alice’.
273 NobamaNetwork on 09.27.08 at 12:58 pm During the debat Obama said 6 years ago he stood up against the Iraq war. Where did he stand up in his living room? I wish McCain would have pointed out that OB never voted on the war because he was not a US Senator until 2005.
*********************
You are absolutely correct. He gave a small speech about how he would not have voted for the Iraq war.
He did not have a vote to have a say either way.
Yet, once he did have a vote he voted with every other proposal by the Bush administration where as Hillary and McCain oppossed some of Bush’s tactics.
Obama even voted against more funding for the war in Iraq, yet he will support more funding for ACORN..
Obama is an idiot. This is still on his website:
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/foreignpolicy/
Diplomacy: Obama supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions. Now is the time to pressure Iran directly to change their troubling behavior. Obama and Biden would offer the Iranian regime a choice. If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization, economic investments, and a move toward normal diplomatic relations. If Iran continues its troubling behavior, we will step up our economic pressure and political isolation. Seeking this kind of comprehensive settlement with Iran is our best way to make progress.
…and….
Mr. Kissinger is not amused:
Henry Kissinger believes Barack Obama misstated his views on diplomacy with US adversaries and is not happy about being mischaracterized. He says: “Senator McCain is right. I would not recommend the next President of the United States engage in talks with Iran at the Presidential level. My views on this issue are entirely compatible with the views of my friend Senator John McCain. We do not agree on everything, but we do agree that any negotiations with Iran must be geared to reality.”
making up each letter to send to one party is too cumbersome and time consuming as well as inefficient because the point is you want to send out as many letters at one time as you can..
Polls on Rasmussen just said on Fox that their polls today do NOT reflect the debate. The polls for that will come out until Tuesday.
They also said McCain did a little better in the debate, but today the score is even with both.
No, I’ve never heard of having different polls for Dems and Reps. Did she really vote? Sounds made up.
That “you are not voting for him because he is black” line is so nonsensical. By the way, the bots are also the same people who go around calling Palin a whore (although you used the nicer word “tart”). I don’t know what is happening to these people. They’ve lost their manners. Ask this person why she is voting for BO. If she is voting for him because he is Black, then they need to start asking deeper questions about his policies and his experience. If they don’t believe anything wrong happened in the primaries refer them to the lynettelong website. We might also have info on caucus fraud here in the action center.
_________
She is from IL and she did say they have different polling places. I have only voted in Texas, so I don’t know how other states work. Maybe they vote on different days? I know that she would never vote for a republican, no matter what. I was not raised like that. My father was born in 1900. He was 60 when I was born, and he had see alot of changes in his lifetime, so that is why he was never for one party. I was taught to vote for the person who will do the most good for the country.
Pumas, I’m hoping the subtleties of this debate will start to come out over the next few days. There were many points scored by McCain. As people start to digest this, I’m hoping they’ll see who was the grownup in the room.
Here were the “best 37 seconds of the debate” (per Pat Dollard). IMHO – there were many more.
Also, don’t feel too hurt by what your friend said. I know she seems really irrational, but we all have to deal with really irrational people right now. They have invested a lot in BO and they are going to be really lost when he loses in November. Bots seem new to the political world. I would try not to talk to her about politics until after the election. If she continues to call you a racist, I personally would ask her not to contact you anymore. I don’t want to break up your friendship, but at my age (I’m in my 30s) I’ve come to realize that friends come and go. You know you believe in the equality of all peoples ( I assume that’s the case) then that person has no right to insult you.
________
Good thing is she lives in IL now, but she’s been calling alot lately because she wants to move back to TX. I have never seen such haterd latety as with this election. People who you thought were open minded has said such nasty things about Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin.(about Mccains war injuries, Palin being a woman ect.)
Would someone Please explain to me how Barry can say he voted No to the war when he wasn’t a senator. How can he keep saying that if it isn’t true?
Murphy, the reviews were written for Obama (Darcy) long before the debate started. In fact, log before any vote was cast. You don’t think Wall Street plunged more money into an unknown than they did in incumbent W in 2004 to let things up to the voters?
http://edgeoforever.wordpress.com/2008/09/20/the-fix-is-in/
We can complain all we want about how biased the media is, or how they or others are in denial. But, at the end of the day, it is what it is no matter whether we like it or not. It appears that Obama is continuing to ride a fairly consistent wave of support and even if we think those who support him are blind and naive, it is the reality. We’ve all been down this road once before with Obama and Clinton. I prefer not to ignore the polls entirely because when lots of polls over time show a consistent trend it’s impossible for me to discount outright. According to Rasmussen today, there are now even more GOP states that have moved in the toss up column, resulting in a larger spread between Obama and McCain. I think we need to hound the media every single day and target toss up states. We’re all preaching to the converted here. We know we all won’t vote for Obama and take issue with him on so many points. Our job as activists is to get the word OUT.
Are you from PA?
I personally am not going to pay attention to the media or the polls. I think the polls are fixed. I think it’s the media’s way of making us think that Obama has it wrapped up, so don’t even bother to vote if you are for McCain. I will not be fooled by not casting my vote.
#370 Nope. Do you have any info on PA? I’m just surmising from what I’ve read.
Rather than targeting media, per se, what if we targeted the commentators specifically? Bombarding them with articles like the one by Texas Darling, ‘The Trojan Candidate’. ETC!
#312 maxgrader,
Old fashioned Americans?? Hogwash! I’m talking about people who walk around and don’t even know who Robert Gates is. There ARE many undecided voters out there … just look at the polls.
I agree that voting is a personal decision and I don’t ask, nor would I expect, people to tell me who they’re voting for. These are the people that are telling pollsters that they haven’t made a decision.
One can also show good manners by just saying that they have made up their mind but would rather not share that information.
#369 Anna,
Yes, that video is very compelling.
This blog has been a wonderful place for many months. A source of sanity and resources! I’m going to return to working on my own, as I had been prior to the emergence of these grassroots movements. I want to wish everyone the best and say good-bye to many who’ve been particularly special. I don’t mean to cause any drama by posting this. Murphy..loveeee that post! What a great post! so cute , so cute!
I do not post very often but I just heard a very disturbing commentary of Fox News Re: ACORN.
They will receive the first 20% of the Wall Street money bail out plan before any others.
Republicans are currently fighting to have it eliminated but Democrats are not relenting.
We are being forced to pay our money to a fradulent organization and we have no say.
I was at the mall this morning. I was wearing a McCain button and a Nobama button. There were some people walking in my direction and they saw my button and gave me an ugly look. Then one lady stopped me and said how could I be supporting an idiot. I looked at her and said, no the idiot is the “O” and all his supporters. She said you calling me an idiot…I said well all o supporters are…and I started to walk away. They (being 4) walked behind me and asked me to stop. So I did…they said how TF can you call us idiots. I said…well I guess you really are because I never really said you are idiots…so I guess the shoe fits. And I will tell you that I will never ever vote for Obama…and not because he is black but because he is so full of himself, a flopper, a corrupt politician and of his associations. And by the way not a true patriot. He never even volunteered in the service to serve this country. I come from a military family and in my family we all have served even if it was 4 years for some and some have served for over 25 years….and to me country first is what I like about Senator McCain…
I told them, I have nothing else to say to you..so I started to walk away and as you know how black people get…loud and obnoxious…started name calling….I kept on walking…I turned around and said DO NOT WASTE MY TIME and EFFORTS as I do not have time for people like you…and I said and do not follow me because I will call the police and say you are harassing me and I will have you arrested. And I know I could have since my brothers are cops….
bot response to the bracelet remark (quoted in my local newspaper):
“Ah…Obama has a bracelet, too. McCain says “damn!” to himself.”
And this remark clearly defines how the bots are truly in a cult. The ramifications of BO’s remark go right over their heads.
#378 Wow! Very gutsy. Be careful.
#372 Lara08
I’m from PA, and Nobama has his “enthusiatic supporters” out in full force, EVERYWHERE, in places I’d never imagined. Western/southwestern PA and the Philadelphia area are predicted to go to BO. There are crucial counties in the central and south-central, and north-western parts of the state that McCain must win to have a chance of taking the state.
I’m extremely concerned about voter fraud in PA. Right now, it’s Nobama by 2-3%, according to what I’ve read.
It’s a very sad day, indeed, when we lose anyone, but Anna saying ‘good-bye’ made me cry.
Anna7000 – I wish you would not go – but I have the same sentiment – many of the old “doers” have given up trying to get action items done – many of the new ones – like to have a chat room with repetitive thoughts and posts over and over again – I too went into hiberation for awhile – came out and tried to do encourage challenges against the media and letters to the editors – I will use this as a source for my own personal challenges and will continue until November – I do miss the old posters – but I think those that have a NEED to respond to each and every poster with their own sentiments have won this one. Its nice to share links and ideas and their own action items – but when it becomes a NEED to just say something — bye bye -
Anna, God bless. You’ll be missed, but I understand where you’re coming from. Things have changed quite a bit since the begnning of June.
#253 Re: evidence
Seattlegirl and I spoke about personal experiences, but evidence, mmm…? Whenever they call people they don’t know racists they are lying. Whenever they say that whoever doesn’t vote for BO is a racist-that’s a lie. Whenever they said that BO was more progressive than HC they were lying. When they say that Palin is a radical conservative they are twisting the truth to fit their agenda. If I think of more or a way to document things locally I’ll post that info.
Lara08 – are you missing something on the above blogs that was being referred – there is no doubt that people are doing things behind the scenes HOPEFULLY we ALL are – its the constant every other blog with a couple of words here and there that mean nothing – if that is releasing tension then so be it – its taking up blog space as I just am now doing – so its not another one of these again – have you not noticed how many good people have disappeared – and for the reason that they have —
To All:
This is important and relevant information that needs to be released to the news media. Can this be made into a PUMA Prowl? Essentially I found information documenting Obama’s association with another questionable person that is an ongoing relationship. Actually the individual was a speaker for the opening night of the DNC. Seems Obama endorsed a person with mob connections and continues to be a supporter. There is a vid of an Obama endorsment ad.
Below is a timeline of Obama’s association with Illinois’ State Treasurer”Alexi Giannoulias
?a “man who has long been dogged by charges that the bank his family owns helped finance a Chicago crime figure” and “who became Illinois state treasurer” in 2006 after Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) “vouched for him. “Giannoulias is so tainted by reputed mob links that several top Illinois Dems, including the state’s speaker of the House and party chairman, refused to endorse him even after he won the Democratic nomination with Obama’s help.”
Obama endorsed Giannoulias even though he knew his shady background. In 2007 Obama even comments that he has reservations. But in 2008, Giannoulias is one of the speakers for opening night of the DNC.” This is yet another example of questionable judgment at best and typical dirty Chicago politics at worst. I wonder if Giannoulias will turn out to be the next in Obama’s never-ending series of “He’s not the man I knew”.”
******************************************************************************
http://www.politicswest.com/29086/alexi_giannoulias_obamas_next_not_man_i_knew
Is Alexi Giannoulias Obama’s next “not the man I knew”?
Last night, Illinois’ State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias addressed the DNC, talking about his “friend and mentor”, Barack Obama, and calling for “a new type of leadership.” Giannoulias said that Obama has great integrity, yet the association between the two men raises questions along the lines of (and related to) convicted felon Tony Rezko.
Obama and Giannoulias have been mutual supporters, politically and otherwise, for at least five years, with Giannoulias having contributed $7,000 to Obama’s campaign for the Illinois State Senate seat in 2003 and 2004, an interesting choice for a man who was simultaneously giving $17,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee.
But, as Crain’s asked, “[J]ust why did Sen. Obama last week endorse for Illinois treasurer an unknown 29-year-old whose financial experience is limited to working at a family-owned Chicago bank, and who, as recently as five years ago, was shooting professional hoops as point guard with team Panionios of Athens, Greece?”
Media reports say that Obama was grateful for Giannoulias’s early support of Obama, including the six-figure fund-raising for Obama’s first campaign. But what about be the mutual connection to Tony Rezko, and could there be other connections we don’t yet know about?
Giannoulias has clearly believed he had something to gain. As someone who lived in Chicago for 15 years, I know that politics general and Chicago politics in particular is about who can help people make money or gain power. One way in which Obama could return the favor of political support to Giannoulias would be to support the possibility that Giannoulias could be selected to fill Obama’s US Senate seat if Obama wins the presidency.
The close association of Obama with a man who seems clearly to be involved in some shady deals with convicted criminals is yet another example of questionable judgment at best and typical dirty Chicago politics at worst. I wonder if Giannoulias will turn out to be the next in Obama’s never-ending series of “He’s not the man I knew”.
Officials have announced that on the convention’s opening Monday night ,State treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, a longtime loyalist of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, will speak.
“Obama endorsed Giannoulias, a banking heir, for state treasurer and Giannoulias defeated the slated Democratic candidate. Obama has said Giannoulias provided help with Chicago’s Greek Community and Obama used the Giannoulias family’s bank for his Senate campaign fund.”
Obama Shilled For Granny Grifter
As Flying Debris pointed out earlier today the Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias was involved in an alleged mortgage fraud five years ago. Mr. Giannoulias’ family bank the Broadway Bank in Chicago made a $1 million loan to an 83 year-old woman who could not fill out the loan form and who was brought to the bank by two felons and another person. One of those men had twice been convicted of bank fraud. Mr. Giannoulias admits that he knew that the felons were involved and that in his own words “I’m not sure it would be a prudent loan.” Well sure, the loan payments were $9,845 per month while the bank’s own loan documents show that Ms. Billings had an income of about $10,000 per month. So thats great, when he was working at the family bank he saw the collateral of property in the 1100 block of West Washington St., just west of the traditional Greektown. However when on the witness stand Mr. Giannoulias had a revelation, hey maybe $165 per month is not reasonable for an 83 year-old woman to live on.
Mr. Giannoulias is currently the State Treasurer here in Illinois thanks to the effort of one Barack Hussein Obama, yep that guy who’s running for President. Senator Obama (D-IL), spent considerable energy helping the campaign of Mr. Giannoulias, both during the primaries and the general election. This scandal was known during that time.
? during the 2006 election I found those Obama/Giannoulias commercials to be odd, after all we knew a lot about Giannoulias’ Granny-Gate by that time; so what the heck was our Senator doing pushing this guy?”
Critics: Obama endorsements counter calls for clean government:
But Obama’s record of local endorsements — one measure of how he has used his nascent political clout — has drawn criticism from those who say it reflects his deference to Chicago’s established political order and runs counter to his public calls for clean government.
In the 2006 Democratic primary, for example, Obama endorsed first-time candidate Alexi Giannoulias for state treasurer despite reports about loans Giannoulias’ family-owned Broadway Bank made to crime figures. Records show Giannoulias and his family had given more than $10,000 to Obama’s campaign, which banked at Broadway.
Obama endorsed former Ald. Dorothy Tillman (3rd), calling her “a very early supporter of my campaign.” Tillman was then under fire for her stewardship of the scandal-plagued Harold Washington Cultural Center, where contracts benefited members of her family.
Obama rejected the notion that such endorsements conflict with his promotion of ethics reform in government.
Obama’s candidate” Giannoulias needs to explain alleged mob ties, says state house speaker
“Alexi Giannoulias was an unknown candidate for state treasurer until US Senator Barack Obama agreed not only to endorse “Mr. G.,” but “St. Barack” went further than that by appearing in a Giannoulias television commercial. Alexi went on to thrash the state party’s endorsed candidate. However, the chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party, Michael Madigan, refuses to back “Obama’s candidate.”
From the Chicago Sun-Times:
But Giannoulias, 30, became engulfed in controversy. The Chicago Tribune published articles about millions of dollars his family-owned bank loaned to two convicted felons and an alleged money-launderer.
Broadway Bank is not accused of anything illegal, but it has been a political embarrassment for Giannoulias, who first called one of the men a “very nice person,” then later said he had been too “cavalier.”
The bombshell from Madigan recalls his cryptic comments in 2002 about never-explained “indiscretions” of then-Democratic gubernatorial nominee Rod Blagojevich. This time, Madigan is being more pointed.
“I mean my history in politics, if you were alleged to be connected to the mob, you were done, but life seems to go on,” he said.
The Sun-Times article is by Carol Marin, who somehow leaves out Obama’s role in getting “Mr. G.” onto the fall ballot. Obama hasn’t backed off from his endorsement of Giannoulias, but said in April:
What I have said is that it is important that all this information come out in a clear, straightforward way and that the voters of Illinois know exactly what was taking place.
But why did Obama endorse Giannoulias? Obama said Mr. G. did a lot of work for his 2004 senate campaign, and prior to that, Obama used to play basketball with the young banker. Giannoulias describes Obama as “a mentor.” I’m not claiming Obama had any knowledge of the loans in question, but maybe, maybe, Obama’s judgement isn’t perfect.”
Under the bus
Obama expresses reservations about Alexi.
U.S. Sen. Barack Obama said Wednesday he is concerned by revelations that the bank owned by Illinois Democratic treasurer nominee Alexi Giannoulias’ family gave loans to a Chicago crime figure and said the candidate owes him and the public a full accounting.
“I’m going to take a look at what’s been going on and I’m going to ask Alexi directly what is happening,” said Obama, an early and enthusiastic backer of the first-time candidate, after a town hall meeting at York High School in Elmhurst.
“I think it is absolutely appropriate for [Giannoulias] to have to explain what exactly the nature of the relationship was, how aware the bank was of some of the illegal activities that this gentleman had engaged in in the past,” he said. “I think that is something that, as his campaign goes forward, he’s got to explain to voters.” [?]
“It sounds like they hadn’t fully thought that through,” Obama said. “My recommendation to him will be that he needs to have a thorough press conference in which all of this gets completely aired and all of these questions have to be answered. I think that’s what any elected official owes to the voters.”
http://dancurry.wordpress.com/2006/04/12/media-has-chance-today-to-ask-obama-about-alexi/
The Chicago Tribune acknowledged today in a scathing editorial, “Deposit some answers, please” that Obama’s endorsement essentially nominated Alex Giannoulias in the Dem primary for Treasurer in Illinois
“Alexi Giannoulias won the Democratic primary for state treasurer. No more than a handful of voters had even heard of him a few months ago, but a lot of money bought a lot of TV ads featuring an endorsement from Sen. Barack Obama, and that carried Giannoulias to a victory over an underfunded opponent.
Obama said he was a fine young man, and that apparently was good enough for most primary voters. But we need to learn a whole lot more before November.”
“Giannoulias has been nothing but puzzling when he has been questioned about his ties to Michael Giorango, a convicted bookmaker and prostitution ring promoter.
Giorango has received multiple loans from Broadway Bank, where Giannoulias is vice president and senior loan officer. The bank is owned by the Giannoulias family.
When he was questioned by the Tribune in March about loans made between 1994 and 2002, Giannoulias said the bank’s decisions were made while he was still in law school, when he wasn’t a full-time bank employee.
But the Tribune reported Sunday that newly discovered public records show Broadway Bank made nearly $12 million in additional mortgage loans to Giorango just last year?when Giannoulias was overseeing the bank’s loans.
Giannoulias’ newest response? Those 2005 loans were negotiated by his brother, Demetris, the bank’s chief financial officer.
In March, Giannoulias said Broadway Bank “never financed any casinos. We never did anything like that.” But newly obtained records show that the recent loans went partly toward a mortgage that Giorango and another convicted felon used to acquire a casino boat marina in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Let’s get this straight. Voters are supposed to be impressed by Giannoulias’ experience at the bank. Yet his defense here is that he was clueless as to what his bank was doing?
And he wants to take control of the entire state treasury?
Giannoulias was asked if it was acceptable for a state treasurer to lend money to crime figures. His response to Tribune reporter David Jackson: The treasurer should work to get “the best rate of return for taxpayers to create jobs.”
What, no questions asked?
There’s no suggestion that the loans were illegal. Giannoulias makes the point that they met standards set by federal regulators and passed audits. But, oh, there are a lot more questions to be answered.
Has the 30-year-old candidate for treasurer ever really been more than a junior officer at the family bank? If he had the authority his title implies, how can he claim he didn’t know about this bank business?
How well does he know Giorango?
And why has Giannoulias failed his first tough test as a candidate?
Okay, back to Obama. He’ll be conducting two town hall meetings today.
• ELMHURST ? 10:30 a.m. York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road.
• WESTCHESTER ? 12:45 p.m. Westchester Intermediate School, 10900 Canterbury St.
Here a question for him:
Q. You are the Democratic point person on ethics in the Senate, yet back in your home state, the man you strongly endorsed for state Treasurer has been under fire from the Chicago Tribune for questionable loans and questionable answers about those loans. Do you still strongly endorse Alexi Giannoulias for state Treasurer and if so, why, in light of these serious allegations?
Yesterday, we urged the Illinois media to ask whiz kid U.S. Senator Barack Obama about his endorsement of ethically challenged Alexi Giannulous, the Democrat nominee for Illinois State Treasurer. Looks like the media asked and Obama didn’t hold back. “I’m going to take a look at what’s been going on and I’m going to ask Alexi directly what is happening,” said Obama, an early and enthusiastic backer of the first-time candidate, after a town-hall meeting at York High School in Elmhurst.
Giannoulias, who hails from a banking family, played up his experience managing funds, said that the treasurer is the state’s banker and that Illinois needs someone with financial experience. Giannoulias added that, while Mangieri might be qualified to be an attorney general, the state treasurer’s office would not be appropriate for him. He also mentioned how his “good friend and mentor, Barack Obama,” inspired him to run.
Obama backs young candidate for state treasurer
February 24, 2006 (WLS) — US Senator Barack Obama is using his political influence for several candidates running for office in Illinois this year. He has made an expensive TV commercial endorsing a young candidate in the state treasurer’s race.
Barack the Boss? Did U.S. Senator Barack Obama clear the field in the Democraticstate treasurer’s race?
Until incumbent Republican Judy Baar Topinka announcedfor governor, the only Democrat willing to run for the post was obscure KnoxCounty State’s Attorney Paul Mangieri, of Galesburg. He was slated by the Democrats, and he is on record as opposing abortion rights.
When Topinka decided to move up, aflock of ambitious Democrats eyed the job, including state Representative JohnFritchey (D-11), Alderman Manny Flores (1st), East Saint Louis state Senator JimClayborne (D-57) and Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin, who lost to Topinka in1998 by 62,279 votes, getting 48.1 percent of the vote. But none announced, and all deferred to Alexi Giannoulias, a 29-year-old Chicago investment banker who was an early supporter of Obama in his 2004 Senate race, whose father owns Broadway Bank, and whose family helped bankroll the Obama campaign. Giannouliashas said that he will campaign as a “progressive,” and he has promised to put more than $1 million in family funds into the race.
The bottom line: Obama is the potential king maker. Expect Obama to publicly endorse Giannoulias, cut television ads for him, and go heavy for him on black radio stations. Of course, there’s a downside. If Obama endorses Giannoulias and he loses, that would indicate that Obama’s clout is not transferable.
My prediction: The stars arealigning for Giannoulias, another silver spooner. Every politician in theChicago area, Daleyites and anti-Daleyites, eager to collect campaign funds fromGreek Americans in the future, will back Giannoulias. Obama’s early endorsement will be critical. Giannoulias will blanket the Chicago airwaves with ads proclaiming himself to be a reformer and a nonpolitician, and mail pieces will target liberal and feminist voters, ripping Mangieri’s anti-abortion stance. Mangieri won’t get more than 40 percent of the vote in the primary.
Barack Obama and campaign contributor Alexi Giannoulias
“Alexi Giannoulias?a “man who has long been dogged by charges that the bank his family owns helped finance a Chicago crime figure” and “who became Illinois state treasurer” in 2006 after Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) “vouched for him”?”pledged to raise $100,000 for the senator’s Oval Office bid,” Charles Hurt reported September 5, 2007, in the New York Post.[1]
The September 5, 2007, Chicago fundraiser was omitted from Obama’s public schedule and the event was closed to the press,” Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times reported.[2]
“Before he promised to raise funds for Obama, Giannoulias bankrolled Michael ‘Jaws’ Giorango, a Chicagoan twice convicted of bookmaking and promoting prostitution.
“Giannoulias is so tainted by reputed mob links that several top Illinois Dems, including the state’s speaker of the House and party chairman, refused to endorse him even after he won the Democratic nomination with Obama’s help.”
Anna, don’t go. It’s just what the Obots want! Divide and conquer. You have been and are a leader here. Of course it’s frustrating. But what are the options? It’s easy to get discouraged by the MSM’s support for the Wicked One, but we have Truth and Love on our side. Nothing can stand against them for long.
I can’t stop you from going. And I can’t replace you.
So I hope you will just take a break, some time for Anna, and come back renewed and re-energised to keep fighting. It’s not over til it’s over.
If it means anything, you have been an inspiriation and I’ve come to love you. I wish you every good thing in your life.
Anna, I will miss your fervor and intelligence. I rarely post because I am one of the inarticulate ones, especially in online posts. But you are one the best. Thank you for being the energy for me, for bearing the PUMA standard during the fray of this crazy election.
All good things, Anna.
I was sad yesterday and cried because I feel my country is dying. Today, I am sad again and cried because Anna has left. She is one of my favorite posters.
Re: Acorn links
Some of you asked about info to send out to people. Yesterday’s prowl included good links. Thanks Murphy.
I’m leaving for now. I can’t stand to be around trolls. It’s a waste of my time.
What They’re Saying About John McCain At Tonight’s Debate: Volume 3
“The Mac Is Back,” As “McCain Not Only Found A Central Theme But Hit On It Repeatedly”
Politico’s Roger Simon: “John McCain was very lucky that he decided to show up for the first presidential debate in Oxford, Miss., Friday night. Because he gave one of his strongest debate performances ever. While Barack Obama repeatedly tried to link McCain to the very unpopular George W. Bush, Bush’s name will not be on the ballot in November and McCain’s will. And McCain not only found a central theme but hit on it repeatedly. Obama is inexperienced, naive, and just doesn’t understand things, McCain said. Sure, McCain is a pretty old guy for a presidential candidate, but he showed the old guy did not mind mixing it up. He stood behind a lectern for 90 minutes without a break — you try that when you are 72 — and he not only gave as good as he got, he seemed to relish it more. At least twice after sharp attacks by McCain, Obama seemed to look to moderator Jim Lehrer for help, sa ying to Lehrer, ‘Let’s move on.’” (Roger Simon, “The Mac Is Back,” Poltico, 9/27/08)
Simon: “But McCain seemed to get it Friday night. He certainly knew enough to try to turn his age into a plus and not a minus. ‘There are some advantages to experience, knowledge and judgment,’ McCain said. … McCain seemed to be enjoying himself. He smiled a lot, mostly when Obama was talking, though his smile was really more like a smirk. … Both avoided their negative stereotypes: Obama did not seem aloof or condescending. McCain did not seem erratic or wild. You could imagine either one of them in the Oval Office, but only one is going to get there. ‘I don’t need any on-the-job training,’ McCain said. ‘I am ready to go at it right now.’ He certainly seemed like it Friday night.” (Roger Simon, “The Mac Is Back,” Poltico, 9/27/08)
“It Was One Of The Most Substantive Debates In Recent Presidential Campaign History And John McCain Won It. The Arizona Senator Was Cool, Informed And Forceful …”
The Des Moines Register’s David Yepsen: “It was one of the most substantive debates in recent presidential campaign history and John McCain won it. The Arizona senator was cool, informed and forceful in Friday’s first presidential debate of the general election campaign. He repeatedly put Barack Obama on the defensive throughout the 90 minutes session. Obama did little to ease voter concerns that he’s experienced enough to handle foreign and defense policy. That was his number one task Friday night and he failed.” (David Yepsen, “McCain Wins Round 1,” The Des Moines Register’s “On Politics” Blog, http://www.desmoinesregister.com, 9/26/08)
The New Republic’s Michael Crowley: “McCain also had a clarity of message that Obama lacked. His core message is easy to sum up: Let’s cut waste and spending. I’m a tough leader. Obama is naive and unprepared. Obama, by contrast, had no single message that he repeatedly drove home.” (Michael Crowley, “McCain Was Good. But Good Enough?” The New Republic’s “Stump” Blog, blogs.tnr.com, 9/26/08)
Crowley: “And stylistically, McCain was more in control. He was the one setting the tone and introducing nettlesome topics, forcing Obama to respond and defend himself.” (Michael Crowley, “McCain Was Good. But Good Enough?” The New Republic’s “Stump” Blog, blogs.tnr.com, 9/26/08)
ABC’s David Wright: “McCain, too, not only had a strong performance tonight, but seemed to have a strategy throughout. As George said, you heard him mention over and over again, Senator Obama doesn’t seem to understand. He also kept mentioning his travel schedule. I’ve been to Waziristan, I’ve been to South Ossetia, and at the very end he paid it off with his humdinger of a line at the end, saying that basically, he doesn’t need on the job experience. I think the McCain campaign is very pleased with it.” (ABC’s “Vote ’08: Presidential Debate Analysis,” 9/26/08)
The New York Times’ Bill Kristol: “I think McCain won the debate. I think there will be a deal this weekend and he will be vindicated in his efforts to some degree to have actually dealt with reality as opposed to going around giving stump speeches and the McCain campaign will have momentum going into next week and that will set up the Palin-Biden debate.” (Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” 9/26/08)
Real Clear Politics’ Blake Dvorak: “[M]cCain performed well, putting Obama on the defensive on several occasions and getting in some good one-liners.” (Blake Dvorak, “Who Won…?” Real Clear Politics’ “The Real Clear Politics” Blog, time-blog.com, 9/26/08)
The Atlantic’s Ross Douthat: “A Win For McCain.” (Ross Douthat, “A Win For McCain,” The Atlantic’s “Ross Douthat” Blog, rossdouthat.theatlantic.com, 9/26/08)
Commentary’s Jennifer Rubin: “Only the most devoted partisan could deny it was a very, very strong outing for John McCain. On foreign policy he was devastating — making clear how much more resolute and experienced he is.” (Jennifer Rubin, “The Winner,” Commentary’s “Contentions” Blog, http://www.commentarymagazine.com, 9/26/08)
“McCain Was Repeatedly On The Offensive And To Some Extent, Obama Was On The Defensive”
Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss: “[J]ohn McCain was repeatedly on the offensive and to some extent, Obama was on the defensive. I was surprised by that. in terms of strategy, we’ll see what works. But often times in debates, if a candidate does go on the offensive, it does tend to work. That’s what Kennedy did in 1960. It’s what Ronald Reagan did in 1980 and it is what Bill Clinton did in 1992.” (PBS’s “Presidential Debate,” 9/26/08)
The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza: “McCain’s strongest moment of the debate also happened to be Obama’s weakest. McCain absolutely hammered Obama over his pledge to meet with rogue foreign leaders without preconditions and Obama had no ready answer — odd since he had to know this attack was coming. McCain was able to turn a single question about meeting with rogue leaders into an extended colloquy that ended with him hitting Obama for misunderstanding Henry Kissinger. A very good moment for McCain.” (Chris Cillizza, “The Mississippi Debate: First Thoughts And Who Won?” The Washington Post’s “The Fix” Blog, voices.washingtonpost.com, 9/26/08)
Cillizza: “He poked fun at his age several times, jabbed Obama playfully yet effectively (I don’t even have a presidential seal’) and seemed in command of the subject matter and the stage. When moderator Jim Lehrer said at one point that the two candidates had spoken for almost the same amount of time, we were surprised; McCain seemed from our perspective to command more time.” (Chris Cillizza, “The Mississippi Debate: First Thoughts and Who Won?” The Washington Post’s “The Fix” Blog, voices.washingtonpost.com, 9/26/08)
Los Angeles Times: “But McCain closed strongly, becoming more assertive in the debate’s final 30 minutes and zinging Obama time and again as out of his league on foreign policy.” (Don Frederick and Kate Linthicum, “Live-Blogging The Presidential Debate: McCain, Obama Start Out Sparring Over The Economy,” Los Angeles Times’ “Top Of The Ticker” Blog, latimesblogs.latimes.com, 9/26/08)
CNN’s Alex Castellanos: “The old fighter pilot I thought hit the target. He demonstrated great command, names, places, name dropping is not a bad thing in a foreign policy debate like this sometime and he even got under Barack Obama’s skin.” (CNN’s “Debate Coverage,” 9/26/08)
Castellanos: “I thought McCain was successful, even though Barack Obama scored a lot. I think on a few more points, McCain kind of dragged him down into the foreign policy debate and worked him over, I thought pretty good. … It looked almost a little bit like at times Obama was looking for the flash cards and he’d crammed for the exam and McCain obviously didn’t have to do that…” (CNN’s “Debate Coverage,” 9/26/08)
I have ‘friends’ who try to pry me away from the computer, saying it’s not the way to fight. That the real fight is yet ahead and we need to be ready and can’t get there on the computer. Many of them are veterans, many ride motorcycles and none of them support Obama.
Maybe I should listen to them more.
I have to say, Anna and other leaving has really pissed me off. I G2G cool off.
I know many in the Media who are in the tank for Obama are saying he won….BUT THERE ARE MANY WHO BELIEVED IT WAS JOHN MACAIN’S NIGHT!
What They’re Saying About John McCain’s Performance Volume Two
September 26, 2008
ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos: “These guys came to play on each other’s turf. It was really surprising to me is that John McCain came in here with a disadvantage on the economy. Barack Obama had a big advantage, yet I think he spent the 30 minutes very effectively pounding home the points that have to control spending and earmarks.” (ABC News’ “Vote 08: The Candidates Debate,” 9/26/08)
Stephanopoulos: “I thought other interesting stylistic differences, John McCain, good on emotion, good on establishing emotional connections with his stories.” (ABC News’ “Vote 08: The Candidates Debate,” 9/26/08)
MSNBC’s Pat Buchanan: “John McCain clearly won this battle on points. He was aggressive all evening long. He was very tough. He constantly portrayed Barack directly and indirectly as sort of weak and indecisive and inconstant making these statements. He also had a most powerful, emotional moments. I think that Wolfsborough story and that 640 guys re-upping in Iraq, and that woman giving him that bracelet–I think those things reached the heart and the gut. I will say this about Barack Obama. He did what he had to do in the sense that he came off as a tough fellow, a counterpuncher who would stand up to John McCain, and I think he helped himself in that regard, but overall I really think John McCain came off as the winner of this debate, but I go directly to Chris’ point.” (MSNBC’s “Presidential Debate,” 9/26/08)
“Obama To McCain: You’re ‘Absolutely Right’” (Susan Davis, “Obama To McCain: You’re ‘Absolutely Right,’” The Wall Street Journal’s “Washington Wire” Blog, blogs.wsj.com, 9/26/08)
CBS’ Jeff Greenfield: “I also think that McCain in the section on foreign policy also gave a strong performance when he said we can’t snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.” (CBS News’ “Campaign ’08 Presidential Debate,” 9/26/08)
NBC’s Tom Brokaw: “That was the most distinctive difference obviously once we got into the area of national security. John McCain bored in on Barack Obama. He’s been reading the same polls we all have. There are grave reservations in most of the polls about whether Barack Obama has enough experience and whether he’s qualified to be commander in chief. And tonight Senator McCain went right after that vulnerability in Barack Obama.” (NBC’s “Presidential Debate Coverage,” 9/26/08)
The New York Times’ David Brooks: “I think McCain was sharp and experienced.” (PBS’ “Post-Debate Analysis,” 9/26/08)
The Politico’s Jeanne Cummings: “When we moved into foreign affairs, clearly john McCain hit his stride. It is his strength, and he showed, demonstrated that he is quite knowledgeable.” (PBS’ “Post-Debate Analysis,” 9/26/08)
ABC News’ Rick Klein: “9:12 pm CT: … This is another area where McCain is in his comfort zone. He’s having a long discussion on the preconditions line.” (Rick Klein, “Live Debate Blog,” ABC News, blogs.abcnews.com, 9/26/08)
Klein: “9:20 pm CT: Meaty discussion on Russia — with lots and lots of Russian names for McCain to pronounce. If people care about this, McCain looks strong.” (Rick Klein, “Live Debate Blog,” ABC News, blogs.abcnews.com, 9/26/08)
MSNBC’s Norah O’Donnell: “He [McCain] had a good night on the very issue of taxes and spending. He did seem to dominate the first 30 minutes.” (MSNBC’s “Presidential Debate,” 9/26/08)
The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder: “10:19: McCain’s strong on non-Iraq foreign policy issues.” (Marc Ambinder, “The Debate: Liveblogging IV,” The Atlantic’s “Marc Ambinder” Blog, marcambinder.theatlantic.com, 9/26/08)
National Review Online’s Jim Geraghty: “From where I sit, McCain had a surprisingly strong night.” (Jim Geraghty, “A Surprisingly Strong Night For McCain, While Obama Energizes His Base,” National Review Online’s “The Campaign Spot” Blog, campaignspot.nationalreview.com, 9/26/08)
Geraghty: “But the overall message of the night was clear – McCain is smart, familiar with the issues on a striking level of detail, knows what he wants to do: ‘I don’t think I need any on the job training. I’m ready to go right now… I know how to deal with our adversaries, and I know how to deal with our friends.’” (Jim Geraghty, “A Surprisingly Strong Night For McCain, While Obama Energizes His Base,” National Review Online’s “The Campaign Spot” Blog, campaignspot.nationalreview.com, 9/26/08)
Dear Senator Cantwell,
We demand that Congress stops adding earmarks and pork within the contents of the “Bail Out Bill”. In addition we do not want a payout to ACORN.
We feel this is an egregious abuse of House and the Senate positions in Congress. Enough is enough.
We will no longer continue to vote or support any Representative or Senator who votes for bills with earmarks and pork or allots money to ACORN.
No BAILOUT, or NO VOTE in your next election!!
Got this from a friend in Chicago -
CHICAGO
Body count. In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago , 221 killed in Iraq.
Sens. Barack Obama & Dick Durbin, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., Gov. Rod Blogojevich, House leader Mike Madigan, Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan, Mayor Richard Daley…..our leadership in Illinois …..all Democrats.
Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course they’re all blaming each other. Can’t blame Republicans, they’re aren’t any!
State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country. Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.
Yesterday we all sent e-mails and made call to our reps in DC asking that they do not support earmarks and that they not give any money to ACORN. There is also another ACORN look-alike called HOPE. We should mention that too in case they just divert the money from one to the other/and/ or any other of the same ilk.
Hey Folks,
I’m nobody, but I think we should stop fighting among ourselves. Some of us do more than others; some do what we can; we all have the same obejective. We do not want BO to win. We all know he is corrupt and is a danger to America. Let’s fight together.
You do know that BO’s main tactics, using the Alinsky method, involve dividing people and winning using whatever it takes. We have to stay together.
Country First is what PUMA is about.
c4hill …ifyou want a jollier look at the MSM s opinions look at last nights thread here on PUMA PAC , those are quick ,right after the debate before spin started, look at what was said.. a different picture. Anyway, sorry for venting,will just skip those types of posts..it was a positive night for McCain..don’t let the nut cases out there get you down. Who cares what they say…they are losing their audience and will probably start coming around to McCain ,or at least try being fair, as their ratings keep dropping..its all about the $$$. Too bad the McCain campaign gave CBS & ABC credibility by letting Gov Palin be skewered (oops,interviewed) by them, a bump for their ratings they didn’t deserve. Couric,Gibson, the whole lot, are mouthpieces for station owners only..the public be damned. Who needs them. When this election is over , and IF BO can’t steal it, we will probably see a lot of new faces on MSM as the ones now have lost all respect and have been shown for the empty heads they are. To turn on CNN and NOT see Wolf Blitzer would be a little piece of heaven! Lets move Lou Dobbs into his slot or Glen Beck maybe..hmmm may even start watching CNN again, maybe.
One more thing…I live in a college town in VA and let me tell you, the tide is turning against BO…big time. I am very concerned about voter fraud and feel I need to do something..but what ? We will be out of town Nov4 th and have already completed Absentee Ballots but I’m actually afraid to turn them in..a bit paranoid, I know, but who knows what will happen to them. This whole election period is beyond any I have ever experienced. sorry for the long post..usually I just lurk!
I am sad to see that McCain also has been interviewed by Katie Couric. I didn’t know that until I read last night that Letterman, who was POd with McCain for cancelling his show, showed in-house out-takes from that interview. Letterman irked some of the bigwigs, but not enough censure him.
I see a couple references today to trolls being in the group. I know that Murphy has done a great job of cleaning out trolls in here… and I commend her for that. CNN Credibility Factor
CNN Poll Vs. CNN Spin on Presidential Debate
Buried way, way down at the bottom of the story — hopefully, one surmises, past the point where anyone would read — is the following:
The results may be favoring Obama simply because more Democrats than Republicans tuned in to the debate. Of the debate-watchers questioned in this poll, 41 percent of the respondents identified themselves as Democrats, 27 percent as Republicans and 30 percent as independents.
I’m far from being a polling expert, but this is obviously a slanted poll. A 14-point split between Republican and Democrat respondents? And what percentage of those “independents” were leaners for Obama?
I am also very angry Mick. I think Franks, Dodd, Reid, Chucky Cheese Schumer and their gang belong in jail. They’re the culprits who cause this crisis by blocking necessary regulations and FORCING the banks to make sub-prime liar loans and low doc/no doc loans. And now they have the audacity to try and rape the taxpayers for over $700B. I say NO BAIL OUT!! Instead give the greedy wall street gang a loan. As for the insurance, these companies should be held responsible for that too, not the taxpayers.
“THE MAC IS BACK” -Politico.com
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/14005.html
…an excerpt:
John McCain was very lucky that he decided to show up for the first presidential debate in Oxford, Miss., Friday night. Because he gave one of his strongest debate performances ever.
While Barack Obama repeatedly tried to link McCain to the very unpopular George W. Bush, Bush’s name will not be on the ballot in November and McCain’s will.
And McCain not only found a central theme but hit on it repeatedly. Obama is inexperienced, naïve, and just doesn’t understand things, McCain said.
Sure, McCain is a pretty old guy for a presidential candidate, but he showed the old guy did not mind mixing it up. He stood behind a lectern for 90 minutes without a break — you try that when you are 72 — and he not only gave as good as he got, he seemed to relish it more.
At least twice after sharp attacks by McCain, Obama seemed to look to moderator Jim Lehrer for help, saying to Lehrer, “Let’s move on.”
Some of the old bloggers are upset and leaving the blog. Anna is now gone.
thanks Mick…. I was too young to remember that.
It’s good to know what Palin may be up against.
I don’t agree with her on many issues, but I admire her greatly for her strength and courage. Her bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan ability. That in itself is encouraging to so many woman, who otherwise might not have that positive message or role model in their personal environment.
Thus far, since her acceptance as VP nominee, she has displayed solid character in face of unbelievable insolence from the media. You guys, I’m not a preachy person and I believe God presents himself in all religions, but it saddens me to see how easy it is these days for self-proclaimed unashamed Christians to be ridiculed in a supposedly open society. I mean, sheeesh, if everyone stopped for a minute to consider the lessons of their faith -whatever it may be- there might certainly be alot less violence, drug addiction and infidelity-caused divorce in our modern society.
In my 38 years, I have found that the most stable, good-natured people I meet are those with a strong foundation in their Faith and unwavering belief in a Loving Spiritual Creator.
This is an extremely frustrating time. Our cadidate was shafted. SHe has no voice in the debate or the contest happening in the nation. Our loyalties are not with McCain, but even less with Obama. As groups there ARE things we can do, but they are small individual acts — like calling our reps and writing letters to the media and oublic officials. Every day starts to feel like a slog. The msm will ALWAYS spin things to keep the sense of a horse-race alive. All we have on days like this is each other.
What can you do? Read, listen, and share links here. Make a joke. Contribute some money to Heidi Li’s ad campaign, or to the good Dems in your district. Make phone calls using McCain’s campaign in swing states. Visit the Action Center and download some flyers or cash or business cards.
It’s also a very rainy saturday afternoon. at least here in Massachusetts it is.
This is a BLOG. People visit here to blog and comment and read others’ comments. We also have a political action component that is and has been VERY active in focused, organized activism. The two are NOT mutually exclusive. Saturday afternoon is a fine time to chat and discuss politics or any other blessed thing that people want to talk about.
Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement
JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.
“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.
“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.
“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.
“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”
What a day, feedback for debate last night – advantage McCain. I was out for three hours, my Saturday kind of thing then made phone calls. As a lot of people are busy and worried about their investment, the failure in our banking system was laid on the Democratic Party and to NObama, he is the head now of the party. The debate last night solidify support for McCain, those who were hesitant to vote for McCain are now sure of their vote for him, the undecided are moving towards McCain. What hit my friend (Rick) he’s only 27, is the outright lie of NObama about tax cut for anyone making less than $200K annually. Rick said to me this morning over the phone, how can NObama claim tax cut for people earning less than 200K when he’s increasing payroll tax; there’s not tax cut but an increase of taxes for everyone. He was one of the jaded NObama supporter and now changed his mind, he’s voting for McCain.
I also called my friend living in NJ working in New York, she’s a CPA, her comment was; “there is no tax cut even the hotdog vendor get a tax increase with Obama plan.”
People in Wallstreet are not enthusiastic with Obama tax plan, in fact their biggest worry his tax plan match with his new spending amounting to $800 billion, would hinder recovery of our economy. Therefore, bigger government is what NObama administration aspire, the number of people in poverty line will increase, unemployment will increase, small business will shutdown or layoff workers to break even under his new tax plan.
Those from the age of 18 all the way to 29, especially those who are high school graduates would have a hard time understanding complex tax plan of NObama. In fact the less educated is the person and not gifted with common sense, the more they’d buy what Obama has to offer. Obama tax plan is bad for all of them, especially those who are trying to hang on to their jobs.
The best plan for our economy to recover is to cut taxes (corporate tax) and cut spending. People might think this is a gift for corporate America, it isn’t. We need big corporations to generate jobs, they have the money to do it. I don’t think anyone pay attention last night what Obama said, “for economy to improve we must start at the bottom.” That was wrong, an ordinary working man living paycheck to paycheck don’t have the money to invest in business. You cut corporate tax, they’ll generate jobs, you bring foreign investors back into this country which equates to hiring people to fill up vacancies for production.
Never expect the media to tell the American people how they gonna get hit with Obama tax plan, 90% of them are in the tank with Nobama, in fact they’re campaigning now for him out in the open.
The best thing anyone can do is use the word of mouth, send links to your email lists and ask them to forward the link to everyone in their email lists.
Eating each other? Where in the world do such rumors come from? Geez!!!
Wow I came back to see what is going on. It seems every week end we end up with some type of turmoil here. We are allowed to disagree and I hope we all would repsect each others views. However we are all here for one reason and that is NOBAMA!!! I know some of those that said they are leaving have been around for a long time and have done many positive things to help our cause. Let’s all take a deep breath then refocus. Ignore those that may be here to stir it up. We are better than that!! Now have to take dog to vet.
Well, those letters objecting to any pork and ACORN subsidies in an ACORN bill are more important than ever.
The latest I am reading is that the bill is at an impasse and the House GOP is refusing to consider any bill with extras in it. Dodd and Pelosi are bitterly clinging to the ACORN add and refusing to take it out.
Meanwhile, we have about 24 hours until the markets open in Japan. There is a rumor at fairly high levels that one of Europe’s biggest banks, Fortis, is about to go under. The EU is concerned about runs on their banks come Monday.
When my wife asked me earlier in the week which bank here would be next to be taken over by the FDIC, I said it would probably be WAMU. If no deal is done, I would expect to see a couple more here next week. It is no secret that Wachivoa’s acquisition of Golden West in 2006 saddled it with over $120 billion of high risk option adjustable rate mortgages. While Wachovia and National City are not on the brink now, they would be hard pressed to sustain a large loss of deposits.
For every bank that the FDIC takes over, the job losses are not confined just to that bank. There are hundreds of medium and small business that not only borrow from these institutions but rely on business from them to stay in existence.
It really pisses me off when I watch Obama on the campaign trail today. He is a sitting US Senator, and his immediate job is to be in Washington to deal with a pending disaster that may rival or exceed the turmoil of the Great Depression. This is not an issue that you can phone in; it is perhaps the most pressing issue of our lifetimes.
Pelosi, Reid and Dodd need to forget about ACORN and forget about taking care of other special interests and for once in their lives consider what is best for the American people. It is inconceivable to me at this stage of the game how anyone can even think about addressing anything other than the immediate problem. And it is frankly despicable for anyone to stall such an important measure to reward an organization like ACORN that has not only earned its wings as a criminal enterprise, but has been a major contributor to the mortgage meltdown that fueled this crisis.
I will be busy sending out pleas to out representaives this afternoon. And for those of us that believe in prayer, that would not be a bad idea at this point.
If your 401(k) consists of bank deposits, it will be covered. If it is in an investment account, it will still have coverage but not from the FDIC. For investment accounts, the SIPC provides some form of coverage on amounts up to, I believe, $200,000.
Did anyone just hear what little Ron Paul said on Fox? (I admit, I kind of like the little guy)
He said this whole bailout isn’t going to fix anything, even if it doesn’t pass at all. The problem is global based on the dollar that has been pumped up and not based on real value. IE: the bad loans in the bail out are still bad loans even if the public has to try and support banks that gave those loans to people that couldn’t afford to buy a house. That the market on Monday will be an emotional reaction, but the bailout is not a fix. The problem is the with the dollar not being valued by reality.
http://www.obamacrimes.com/
On Thursday September 24th, 2008 Senator Obama and the Democratic National Committee filed a motion to dismiss the Berg vs. Obama lawsuit on the basis that the Court does not have jurisdiction because Mr. Berg “lacks standing to challenge the qualifications of a candidate for President of the United States.”
Senator Obama and the Democratic National Committee claim in the accompanying brief that any harm done to Mr. Berg “would adversely affect only the generalized interest of all citizens in constitutional governance” and, therefore, Mr. Berg, as an individual voter “does not have standing based on harm he would suffer.” (The complete motion and brief as filed with the Court is attached below.)
Mr. Berg is preparing a response opposing the dismissal which will be presented to the Court over the next few days. At the time of filing, the Court granted preliminary standing. The Court is expected to review the Obama / DNC motion for dismissal and the Berg response quickly. The Court may hold a hearing before issuing a final ruling on standing.
The Motion for Dismissal states:
Pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 12(b)(1) and 12(b)(6), defendants Democratic National Committee and Senator Barack Obama respectfully move the Court for an order dismissing the Complaint on the grounds that this Court lacks subject-matter jurisdiction over the claim asserted and that the Complaint fails to state a claim upon which relief can be granted.
BO’s Bobo Tax Plan
The media can hype all they want, I know a rude, unprofessional person when I see one. BO uahs, ands and studders. He does not have even the most basic public speaking skills. He has poor impulse control and is obviously just immature. That all showed during the debate last night. If anyone who reported to me behaved that way at a business meeting, they would get a whole lot of coaching and counseling. Totally unacceptable.
In between counting his 100+ uahs, I was listening for some plan for how he was going to pay for all the wonderful programs that he was promising the masses (as Soros would say). According to him, he is going to redistribute the Individual and Employment Tax from the lower to upper brackets. He made no commitment about an overall increase or decrease. Then he is going to fund Education, Healthcare and Energy Development out of Corporate Taxes. By plugging loopholes? All the blood will come out of the same stone. Here are some interesting facts:
US Tax
Indiv&Emp Corporate
2007 Gross 82% 15%
EXACTLY what I was saying. Constantly rudely interrupting like that is not only unpresidential, it is unprofessional- period! That kind of behavior would not be tolerated in any company boardroom meeting.. why was it not only tolerated in this debate, but NOBODY mentioned it afterwards? I was beginning to think I imagined the whole thing- since it was so conveniently just ignored! But just imagine, if you will, a Pres Obama (gaggg) sitting down to negotiate something with a foreign leader and acting like that?????!!!!!!!!
Great article in today’s Wall Street Journal:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122247015469280723.html
Reseeding the Housing Mess
Taxpayers are naturally suspicious that political insiders and contributors on Wall Street are going to make out like bandits once Washington starts spending the $700 billion in the financial market rescue. But Democrats have already decided to spin off potentially billions of taxpayer dollars from the bailout fund to their own political buddies — not on Wall Street but on nearby K Street.
The House and Senate Democratic drafts contain an indefensible and well-hidden provision. It would mandate that at least 20% of any profit realized from the sale of each troubled asset purchased under the Paulson plan be deposited in either the Housing Trust Fund or the Capital Magnet Fund. Only after these funds get their cut of the profits are “all amounts remaining . . . paid into the Treasury for reduction of the public debt.”
Here’s the exact, amazing language from the Democratic proposal, breaking out how the money would be divided and dispensed:
“Deposits. Not less than 20% of any profit realized on the sale of each troubled asset purchased under this Act shall be deposited as provided in paragraph (2).
“Use of Deposits. 65% shall be deposited into the Housing Trust Fund established under section 1338 of the Federal Housing Enterprises Regulatory Reform Act . . . ; and 35% shall be deposited into the Capital Magnet Fund . . .
“Remainder Deposited in the Treasury. All amounts remaining after payments under paragraph (1) shall be paid into the General Fund of the Treasury for reduction of the public debt.”
What we have here essentially are a pair of government slush funds created in July as part of the Economic Recovery Act that pump tax dollars into the coffers of low-income housing advocacy groups, such as Acorn.
Acorn, one of America’s most militant left-wing “community activist groups,” is spending $16 million this year to register Democrats to vote in November. In the past several years, Acorn’s voter registration programs have come under investigation in Ohio, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri and Washington, while several of their employees have been convicted of voter fraud.
Along with other potential recipients of these funds, including the National Council of La Raza and the Urban League, Acorn has promoted laws like the Community Reinvestment Act, which laid the foundation for the house of cards built out of subprime loans. Thus, we’d be funneling more cash to the groups that helped create the lending mess in the first place.
This isn’t the first time this year that Democrats have tried to route money for fixing the housing crisis into the bank accounts of these community activist groups. The housing bill passed by Congress in July also included a tax on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to raise an estimated $600 million annually in grants for these lobbying groups. When Fannie and Freddie went under, the Democrats had to find a new way to fill the pipeline flowing tax dollars into the groups’ coffers.
This is a crude power grab in a time of economic crisis. Congress should insist that every penny recaptured from the sale of distressed assets be dedicated to retiring the hundreds of billions of dollars in public debt that will be incurred, or passed back to taxpayers who will ultimately underwrite the cost of the bailout.
The idea that special-interest groups on the left or right should get a royalty payment for monies that are repaid to the Treasury is a violation of the public trust. We’re told the White House and House Republicans are insisting that the Acorn fund be purged from the bailout bill. The Paulson plan is supposed to get us out of this problem, not start it over again.
Kind of a shame as I believe that the video would have been highly effective and I would have sent it to everyone in my address book save for the fact that it lays the entire crisis at Bill Clinton’s feet, without ever acknowledging the fact that he called for oversight and action during his administration. I assume that the video is intended to persuade and that aspect left me angry. Not very effective at going after the centrist PA/OH/MI democrats who hold President Clinton and his wife in high regard.
Anna….Keep us posted as to what you are up. Stop in once in a awhile. You have been tremendous…
Great, could you post that email address, I would like to tell him to not let the Democrats make the taxpayers pay for ACORN too!
People like Barney Frank, Christopher Dodd and ALL Democrats in the Banking and Finance Committee are RESPONSIBLE for this DEBACLE, NO OVERSIGHT, NO REGULATION!
Now, we are ALL expected to pick up the TAB!
looks like murphys cat up on top has been sucking some kool-aid out of his bowl lately too..
tongue hanging out and wild eyed crazy look..typical symptoms of obama mania and matthews tingling syndrome( MTS)
What do you folks think about an effort starting here to get Dodd and Frank impeached? To push trojan horse funding for ACORN in an economic calamity is beyond loathesome and despicable – it is an unforgiveable breach of the public trust. Frankly, they are no different from the looters who take advantage of other people’s misery in a disaster to enrich themselves.
Come to think of it, you can shoot looters. But I’ll settle for impeachment followed up by an intense criminal investigation.
grizzly.. why stop at impeachment..throw the bums in prison!
To anyone who hasn’t yet sent a petition to their US Senators and Congressman/woman
Please go to this site and send them your petition . The wordings have change now, the new one has NO EARMARK, PORK BARREL OR ALLOTED MONEY FOR ACORN IN BAILOUT BILL.
We demand that Congress stops adding earmarks and pork within the contents of the “Bail Out Bill”. In addition we do not want a payout to ACORN.
We will no longer continue to vote or support any Representative or Senator who votes for bills with earmarks and pork or allots money to ACORN.
I think ACORN is being paid for the fraudulent registered voters they’re signing up for the Democratic party, this way the Dems think the fix is in for them to win in November.
#471 KarenWI Thanks for the links. Do wonder when people will start to get it, probably when its too late. So glad Gov. Blunt has recognized bo’s tactics for what they are and spoken out about it. I’m very concerned that if bo wins the election, this country will rapidly turn into a police state. Seems to have started. Our media is censored, and now threat of prosecution for speaking out against “the one.” Frightening!
Here’s a poll on Obama’s legal efforts to silence critics (and no surprise 90% say “A chilling harbinger of a thuggish Obama Administration”):
Dear House Republican Leader John Boehner,
Thank you for sticking up for the American taxpayers by not letting the Democrats push ACORN earmarks on us.
I am a PUMA (Hillary Clinton supporter), a life long Democrat and I am neither voting for Senator Obama nor do I support the corruption caused in the primary by Obama, the DNC and ACORN voter fraud.
Please stick to your guns on this and don’t give an inch.
This year, the Republican’s are the good guys and the Democratic Party I have supported all my life is shameful.
I just sent this to all the media outlets, including Hannity, OReilly & Rush (yeah, I know), but we need to get more visibility of these videos also.
[contact name here], these YouTube videos of CSPAN taken during House meetings are being published on the internet. They present a clear picture of how the democrats such as Franks & Dodd- in their own words – covered up for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and how Obama supported them as well.
This is despicable! Your jobs are on the line, this is a betrayal of trust! I no longer trust the Democrats, you make the Republicans look like choir boys!!!
November 4th is the day you see, as you sowed so shall you reap!! SHAME!
Your letter is superb. Congratulations! I hope all Pumas send letters to their representatives in DCA. You are right enough is enough.
#450 Grizzly Thank you for your assessment. Definitely looks as if critical mass is imminent. Though all share the blame, I hope mainstream America can see it is by and large the Democratic party that has ushered this disaster in. (And reward them accordingly.)
c4hill, I’m sure there are places on the web where your Obot points would be appreciated. I’m not sure you have chosen the right place.
Apparently CNN will repeat the entire debate tonight at 10 pm eastern time.
I picked this up off a blog. Not sure if it is true or not. but probably is true. no reason to doubt it.
Heyyyy, I want to be a REFUSENIK.
Deep South; just checked the ABC poll, now up around 500,000; McCain with firm lead.
Hillary2008; Never in the history of presidential elections has there been a candidate with so much documentation of his past obscured, hidden, withheld, or misrepresented, not even Kerry’s always-promised never-delivered military records compare. Oblabla is standing in front of shadows which he refuses to illuminate.
kat; About reaching across the aisle: Oblabla can’t even reach TO the aisle, meaning the most centrist Democrats, much less across it. Despite his efforts to emulate Marvel Comics’ Plasticman, his (imaginary) reach far exceeds his (documented) grasp.
Upstairs already? Oh, well …
This will be DEVISTATING to Obama if this gets out:
FAMILY TOLD OBAMA NOT TO WEAR SON’S BRACELET…
Barack Obama played the “me too” game during the Friday debates on September 26 after Senator John McCain mentioned that he was wearing a bracelet with the name of Cpl. Matthew Stanley, a resident of New Hampshire and a soldier that lost his life in Iraq in 2006. Obama said that he too had a bracelet. After fumbling and straining to remember the name, he revealed that his had the name of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek of Merrill, Wisconsin.
Shockingly, however, Madison resident Brian Jopek, the father of Ryan Jopek, the young soldier who tragically lost his life to a roadside bomb in 2006, recently said on a Wisconsin Public Radio show that his family had asked Barack Obama to stop wearing the bracelet with his son’s name on it. Yet Obama continues to do so despite the wishes of the family.
Radio host Glenn Moberg of the show “Route 51″ asked Mr. Jopek, a man who believes in the efforts in Iraq and is not in favor of Obama’s positions on the war, what he and his ex-wife think of Obama continually using their son’s name on the campaign trail.
Jopek began by saying that his ex-wife was taken aback, even upset, that Obama has made the death of her son a campaign issue. Jopek says his wife gave Obama the bracelet because “she just wanted Mr. Obama to know Ryan’s name.” Jopek went on to say that “she wasn’t looking to turn it into a big media event” and “just wanted it to be something between Barack Obama and herself.” Apparently, they were all shocked it became such a big deal.
hello, anybody else online?
Polls – Likely vs Registered Voters
The biggest game being played with the polls (besides the O’bots cookie clearing) is the distinction between “Likely” and Registered voters. This is an adjustment made by the pollster. I have frequently heard it missaid by talking heads.
Gallup is using this adjustment. I sent them a message last week challenging them to track and post the breakdown of the Dems/Repubs as Registered/Likely voters. I have not heard back yet.
Question Everything.
The story about Obama’s bracelet is outrageous. We know he is like that, but for him to do it during a Presidential Debate says just how far out there he is.
I have been lurking without posting much for the last few days because there is so much stuff to go blog about. Keep that information flowing!
I feel some more posting comming on.
