Typical response from BO. If he does not go back to the Senate to address the crisis, then whatever decision is made, he is not responsible if it fails. If it succeeds then he can say, that is exactly what I was supporting. (But not present once again!)

I have dubbed it Friggen Briliant!

#16 Rabblerouser on 09.24.08 at 8:00 pm

At least McCain is trying to practice what he preaches.

Can’t believe the average American (whoever that is…) wouldn’t feel that these guys should be back in the Senate working on this problem…

#17 snowtiger on 09.24.08 at 8:00 pm

Henceforth it shall be referred to as “Friggen brilliant”.

#429 ladyhawke,

In Berg’s complaint it states on page 11(39):

“Voters donated money, goods and services to select a nominee and were defrauded by Obama’s obfuscations. Obama clearly shows consciousness of guilt by his actions by posting a forged birth certificate on his website, and by the falsifications he told to cover his loss of citzenship

#444 jenniforhillary, (repost from down under)

Jennifer, please don’t let hate into your heart. Yes, hate the actions but don’t hate the person. Loathe, yes, but hate will hurt you more than the other person.

As a Republican, I’ve been on the receiving end of a LOT of hate from the far left loons. So instead of hating back I just forgive and pray for them. I do this for selfish reasons because it helps me way more than it helps them.

Not sure if this makes sense.

#444 jenniforhillary on 09.24.08 at 7:49 pm
I have started feeling deep seating hatred toward BO and his supporters. not dislike, but hatred…

#23 michelle47 on 09.24.08 at 8:04 pm

Pookie and jennifor hillary………

This guy is a literal piece of garbage….
how can any sane individual not see this…
Also jenni I know how you feel, hate is not even a strong enough sentiment for me. Who the hell does Obama think he is, I realize that it takes a considerable amount of ego to run for president, but this jackass dwarfs any ego I have ever seen. I hope that giant inflated head blows off his shoulders and all his dimwitted supporters can scurry around the room picking up bits and pieces of history.

Socialism is a dirty word in America; Americans are very, very protective of a truly “free” market. My complaint is that capitalism if left to be totally free becomes very brutal and crises happen as is happening today, because natural human greed has not been kept in check. I’ve always thought that the best system is captialism with a little socialism thrown in. Not too much, just enough to keep things from returning to the jungle. JMHO

Vent: Nobama and the Dem leadership are the biggest idiots. We’re in a huge financial crisis and all they care about is attacking McCain and saying “well, we said it first.” First off, everyone with a brain knows that Hillary requested more debates, bozo refused. McCain has repeatedly asked for town hall debates directly with the voters, bozo refused. Why? B/c it would be direct questions from the American people and bozo would have no teleprompter and he would not know the questions in advance to practice and ask his advisors what to say. NOW, the bots and corrupt Dems are saying McCain wants to postpone b/c he’s scared to debate bozo? WTF. I have never seen such idiotic people in my lifetime. ALSO, McCain has a record of going against the Repub establishment and putting his country first and doing what he thought was best. He has just proven he is a true leader. Hillary proved she is a true leader. Bozo has proven time and time again that he is a pandering, lying, narcisstic, terrorist sympathizing, arrogant, hypocritical piece of trash that shouldn’t be anywhere near the White House. ALL he cares about his himself and that is why he would NEVER postpone more campaigning and fundraising for himself. Fundraising for himself……during a financial crisis. Yeah, that’s great leadership.

On a side note, I still cannot believe that bozo is leading in Michigan when bozo threw out their votes in the primary. If I was in Michigan, I would despise his pandering existence and shout from the rooftops about the fraud he is. How’s bozo going to fix the economy when he knows nothing about it? How does he know more than McCain? I do not understand people’s bogus logic.

#38 webfoot on 09.24.08 at 8:20 pm

Obama not going to Senate-
As I watched Obama today and read news reports I was struck by a number of his comments. I think he truly sees himself as the president-elect, not as a senator. Ergo, in his mind, if he returns to the senate he will be diminishing himself. Hence his remarks that he will be “anywhere, anytime if needed.” He is leaving the work to the “minions” and will oversee them “as needed.” He has spent months building up the image of himself as the president. I don’t think he wants to set foot in the Senate Chambers until he can walk in to the music “Hail to the Chief” and have every Senator rise to their feet as he enters.

#39 snowtiger on 09.24.08 at 8:20 pm

Someone else posted this. Short to the point and should be used.

In 2003, the Bush Administration recommended what the NY Times called “the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.” This change was to move governmental supervision of two of the primary agents guaranteeing subprime loans, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac under a new agency created within the Department of the Treasury. It was the “do nothing democrats” in congress that derailed the lending institutions in this country.

Hi all-

been busy at work, haven’t been here much this week. I have ben feeling a little overwhelmed and helpless this week so I stopped by John McCain’s HQ today.

I told them flat out I was a Clinton democrat- I was welcomed w/ open arms!! They are going to connect me with other local Clinton dems for McCain!

And this was before I knew about McCain’s suspension- this may have been posted earlier- but I am watching O’Reilly now- very positive for McCain tonight.

I suspect by the end of the week or the week-end, the tides will be turning against Mr Arrogant Empty Suit and I can’t wait.

Did anyone hear him today??? “I will be there if needed, I don’t want to clog up Washington”??? WTF??? Remind me- is he not a U.S. senator- should he not get his skinny ass in DC NOW to start working on this??

Hi all ,
Just a quick run by. McCAin has gained 6 points amongst independents.
38 -24 MCain and has gained 3 points amongst Hispanics while “O” lost 2. 53- 38 for “O”.
End of august it was 64 -24 “O’ amongst Hispaincs and 29 – 28 amongst independents first week of sept. :)
California will be in play soon. I still believe that.
Those numbers are encouraging.

PUMA’s – I need your help. I heard B.HusseinO say something about being a president in 40 days.
Question – Would the new president be sworn in Jan 20th or Nov 5th?
If it 20th, Can somebody tell this a**h*** that the prize is more than 40 days away.

Ok ligher note – Oblahblah is wanting to have his wedding at Oxford while the bride (American Economy) is hurting and in pain. HIS opponent is going to Washington to atleast see if HIS bride needs bandage and is can take action. Oblahblah still wants to wear his tuxedo. He wants to smooch the bride no matter what situation she is in. I guess he is still campaining cause Nancy Witchlosi told him she couldn’t figure this so Barry the rookie would not even begin to understand Wall Street mumbo jumbo. So Barry chose to continue talking instead of listening. He will go ahead and talk to a wall on Friday no matter what and BOTS are already clapping to his responses that are yet to be uttered.

Socialism (and communism) we know doesn’t work, because when people are given everything there’s no motivation. Durant once said that when everyone owns everything (together) no one takes care of anything. But captialism though it motivates people and it does spur on creativity and innovation, if left totally free, it becomes very brutal and people’s natural greed takes over. A lot of the intellectuals in the 1930’s all joined the communist party because they believed the Great Depression showed the failure of capitalism.

Truthfully, I believe Carpathia is mindless. I really believe if it hadnt been for Dean, Pelosi, Brazille and Oprah, he would not have run in this election. They have filled his egomaniacal head with so much bs, that he really believes he DESERVES to be president. The ding-a-ling dems were always going on about Hillary thinking she was”entitled ” to the nomination.
How must they feel looking at this jackass thinking he is entitled to the the presidency? They have created a monster. It must have really hit home when “O’ refused to give any money to the senate campaigns, i fact he wanted them to raise more for him.

#87 LotusBoy on 09.24.08 at 8:41 pm

#69 Rabblerouser – I agree. I saw a news analysis about DC school district with Harvard Institution research on paying 5000 school students there for good conduct, doing homework, cleaning up, behaving, marking present (attendance). Students are to get some kind of a deposit that they can collect it at the bank.
Does this mean that the next step is a DC sponsored Child Labor. Cause paying them money is bribery.
Should students go to school for the education or for the money? and if they go for the money should we not inspect their mothers’ nails to see if that money was used for pedicure or even hair styling. Not my pedigree to say anything about that but do you get my point.

thanks rabble do you think this bailout is really a good thing
i mean obviously if the situation is really as dire as they say then i guess im for it but im getting mixed messages about it
on one hand banks who may have been involved in predatory lending should have to pay for these practices
another point i would like to make is it seems when someone is in danger of losing their home ,shouldnt the financial institutiuon try and work with people and try and make the home a little more affordable i;e; refinance with a better rate or fixed rate
rather than exhibit that greed you were talking about and forclose now i think theyve been so unflexable
they’ve (banks /lenders )they screwed themselves .

I won’t be able to start any of the Action Center prowls until October. Have any suggestion where to start?
—————————————————–
If I were you, I’d take a look at the Prowls at the Action Center and choose one or more of the ones with which you resonate. Do at least one, more if possible.

Then I would go to the Meida section, read the talking points and the sample letter, write your own, or modify the existing one and send to as many TV or Newspapers as possible.

Then look in the Flyers, Fake Cash, Documents section and look through the material there. Print flyers and distribute. Print business cards and distribute.

Also, if you are on the PUMA PAC Regional Mailing list for your state, there will be an action in your email box for you to act on.

Of course, there are always the Daily Puma PAC Prowls.

You can also assist other PumaPacPumas who are trying to research and organize Prowls.

Then, if you run out of things to do, send an email to me and I’ll provide a new list.

Thank you for your willingness.

http://pumapac.org/action_center.html
and click on the links listed there to get to the various sections.

Email actioncenter@pumapac.org if you need a new To Do list.

I’m in education and you should see what goes on…when I was in school (and I’m not ancient) we were expected to do our best just because it was our job and our reward was satisfaction in a job well done. That concept is gone today, so now school’s are resorting to paying students.

I ogt a diffren tview on this tec. As far as I amk concerned , let them drown. I remebr when everybody and thier brother were buying huose and “flipping” them to make a fast buck. If anyone was involved in that and loses thier property. Tough. It is called risk.
As to the banks, the entire corporate staffs need to be fired. If we bail them out first, we get thier bonuses and nay profit they made through thier own real estate deals back, second they are never allowed into the financial business again.
The only people we should really help are those people who bought a house to live in and got screwed.

FROM DOWNSTAIRS POSTS:

420 and 427 GYPSY – Lordie, woman, you hit a nerve! Why not do the interview? You’re so well versed in the issues you contacted them about. And a radio interview is usually by phone so you can have your talking points all set out in front of you on the table. Go for it! You can do it! That’s so great you sparked enough interest they want to interview you. Think of how much exposure that will give our cause (but don’t think too hard or you might get scared – people WILL be listening!).

430 TENNESSEE – That is so cool you saw a yard sign PUMA’s for McCain in your neighborhood. I go a rap-tap-tappin’ on their door and introduce myself. In any case, at least you can feel less alone. I’m jealous.

439 BOBRAM – Thanks for that link. Most helpful. Don’t know how you managed to find that AND gathered media contact info for like a zillion outlets. Kudos to you many times over!

442 MICK – Thanks for posting that little gem of a post. Geez. Copied and it will deal with that tomorrow. Grrr. You may want to re-post on this thread.

My understanding of the problem is that no one can force the banks to work with people who are being foreclosed on, which of course would make the most sense. One of the things Paulsen’s plan does is it gives the judicial system power to force a bank to work out a better rate with a homeowner if the homeowner falls into foreclosure. This plan ultimately seeks to keep people in their homes and gets them to pay want is managable – which I think is the foundation of the problem.

#106 tec1965 on 09.24.08 at 8:52 pm

#95 snow i agree the people who seem to be losing are american families who had adjustables go up and up /
i think then maybe they should get some help if they were in compliance and and paid up before increases kicked in .

Oh. My. Gawd. (my repost from down under)

********Prowl ALERT********

CNN reported:

Rep. Alcee Hastings told an audience of Jewish Democrats Wednesday that they should be wary of Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin because “anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks.”

“If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention,” Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida said at a panel about the shared agenda of Jewish and African-American Democrats Wednesday.

Hastings, who is African-American, was explaining what he intended to tell his Jewish constituents about the presidential race. “Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through,” Hastings added as the room erupted in laughter and applause.”

Let’s face it.
There is no way a Republican could say anything this foul and still have a career.

Time for another prowl.

Anybody else want to enlighten Mr. Hastings?

It’s true that there were greedy people and corrupt people who made lots of $$ on this. But things are just so intertwined, that if you let them drown, everything’s going to go down, like that domino effect. That’s why this is such a crisis.

I keep hearing that Wall Street did this, but you know, there were people who were making $40,000 a year and bought $800,000 homes with no money in the bank, no money down and not very good credit. So there were a lot of greedy people from top to bottom…

#112 snowtiger on 09.24.08 at 8:57 pm

#106 tec1965
Well, I can’t say every one but, most people who took an adjustable did so because the payments were in thier budgets. They planned on flipping the house when the market jumped up. Not all. Some planned on making more money to pay for the increased payments when the rates moved, others figured on re-financing to a different method when the rate jumped.
I had a friend make a killing in the real estate boom here. Was a handyman who got into real estate at the exact right time. Got out just before the collapse.
Lost all his money in the stock market. About a half million cash.

Hello Captain Obvious?! – Where is Hillary now when we need her? Kicked to the curb…..

We need some kind of an entity like the old HOLC, the Homeowners Loan Corporation. To be prepared we should start working on the legislation now to try to get something like that up and going so we can have one place in the government to do these mortgage modifications and try to replicate the success that we had 70 years ago. Senator Clinton

All,
It has not escaped notice that Senator Clinton is providing real leadership on the economic and housing crisis. If anyone missed it, hooray for Bill Clinton who made sure everyone knew that it is Hillary who is out front with sensible, real solutions.

Had the country listened over a year ago when she called for a 90 day moratorium on foreclosures as that local financial institutions could do work outs to allow people to keep their homes, preserve their communities and pay realistic rates, we might never have reached this crisis. Some people might not have made as much money through speculation and risk taking, but we would have had a countrywide spasm of true compassion and common sense.

My recollection is that BO flicked off the idea and said the wrong people would benefit.

Anyway…here we are in a crisis, few people have clean hands and it looks as though the bandits are going to make out like bandits.

Can anyone explain why a first step toward fiscal sanity would not be, as Senator Clinton proposed, an immediate moratorium on primary home foreclosures coupled with a requirement that for any financial institution to receive federal bailout funds, it must renegotiate loans for the express purpose of keeping people in their homes at reasonable rates and responsible transparent terms, terms which can be established by a non-partisan group of economists with a working deadline of 10 days.

Big financial institutions suffering from cash flow problems? Let the executives with a salary of over x$ take a few weeks of pay deferment so that these firms do not go under, yet the people at the top feel some of the pinch and take some responsibility for the risks they took, if not personally than institutionally.

Real people would benefit, localities would not face the dire consequences of vacant properties and tax loss, and the general public would understand that the priorities of the government are to help them and their communities. Consumer confidence wold be restored. No new bureaucracies would be required. Print the regulations, re-assign compliance personnel, and activate Congressional oversight.

Would that be so bad or hard? At least as a first step? If you agree, please pass it along!

#119 bobram on 09.24.08 at 9:00 pm

116 snowtiger on 09.24.08 at 8:59 pm

This is a terrible crisis – and a lot of people just made a wrong decision at the wrong time, it wasn’t that they were greedy or corrupt, they just got caught. When I say that capitalism left unchecked can be brutal, this is an example. If we had had better governmental regulations and safeguards, this might not have happened, or to this extent.

#121 LotusBoy on 09.24.08 at 9:01 pm

#108 osaka puma – It is also because they themselves don’t live the way their parents lived (selflessly and taking direct care of kids). Most Asian parents here like majority of the population here go to work, leave kids with day care, school board, after school care and come back and give them Mac and Cheese and go back to their own world of catering to themselves and the cycle continues. Some of them bring their parents and hence outsource the job to their own parents who do not have the physical and mental abilities anymore to parent (actually grandparenting is liberal).
My conclusion, outsourcing starts at Home and parenting is the best example.

#80 Murphy, #87 Kempion, #86 Grizzly (From downstairs)
If you take Kempion’s estimated 1.09264 Trillion, subtract Grizzly’s estimated (15+180) 195 Trillion then the net would be -85T out economy is still in the hole. Add the bailout of 700 Million (which will buy time and positively impact public perception, mainly in the financial markets) then we still are in the hole appx. -84 Trillion. Not good. However the Fed has done it’s job and secured 80% of the unaffected assets. We then have time to build on that to avoid financial Armageddon on Wall Street. We are definitely on a very slippery slope and looking straight at what would make the great depression look like a Sunday picnic. Deadly serious folks. Bailout is unavoidable and leadership in this country is vital. Leadership will always show itself and fortunately we still have one or two left.

Lotus, most Americans. I am sad to say, are poorly educated. We have a lowest common denominator educational system. The entire system for decades was based on what the lowest student could achieve. I was there when it started.
we actually had to get rid of rows because someone was “first” and get into a horseshoe set up.
Students who had a hard time reading were not given special ed because it made them “feel” inferior. So the entire class had to function at thier level. End result is obvious.
I hear spelling bees are prohibited now because there can only be one winner.
I remember it oh so well.

from vet:

If John McCain was planning to stand down from debate preparation and campaigning tomorrow, Barack Obama will have to as well.

The White House is calling.

And Obama is going.

President Bush called Sen. Obama of Illinois, the Democratic nominee for president, at about 7:30 pm EDT tonight to invite him to a bicameral and bipartisan meeting of congressional leaders and the two senators running for president – Obama and Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

Obama’s campaign said tonight that the senator has agreed to go. “Sen. Obama has been working all week with leaders in Congress, Secretary Paulson and Chairman Bernanke to improve the proposal,”’ Obama spokesman Bill Burton said of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s plan to buy bad mortgage debt from banks. And “Obama will continue to work in a bipartisan spirit and do whatever is necessary to come up with a final solution.”

#168 bodi1313 on 09.24.08 at 9:33 pm

Hi Gang, I sure do appreciate you all. I just found this on Commentary online, I thought you would like it:

What McCain Did
John Podhoretz – 09.24.2008 – 6:09 PM

The presumption in many quarters is that John McCain knew he had to do something to change the direction of the race because things are going badly for him. I certainly agree that he has not covered himself in glory in the past 10 days. But the data just don’t support this opinion. With the sole exception of the ABC News poll that has Obama up by 9 points — and which features a preposterous 16-point margin of Democrats over Republicans among respondents — Obama has not gained at all in national polling over the past week. Two new surveys out tonight have Obama up by 2 points and 1 point. (One oddity in the 2-point survey — its sub-survey of so-called likely voters has Obama up by 4 points; usually in these polls the likely-voter number is tighter than the registered-voter number.)

State-by-state polling is all over the place, with Obama leading in Virginia in one poll and behind substantially in another; McCain and Obama neck-and-neck in Pennsylvania in one poll and 9 behind in another, with similar numbers in polls in Michigan; and so on.

The point here is that only one poll shows Obama having gained substantially from the financial crisis over the past week. Certainly, it hasn’t helped McCain in any way, and killed his momentum. But nothing here required a Hail Mary play.

Maybe it’s as simple as this: McCain believes it’s best for him to be in Washington this week, working (or looking like he’s working) on the bailout. To do that he can’t spend 48 hours in debate prep. He already authorized the cancellation of a night of the Republican Convention owing to a crisis (Hurricane Ike); why not postpone a debate? Because Ole Miss will be disappointed?

an appeal to all Americans and PUMA-
If you want to save yourself from future bailouts from happening read on —
Forget Miley Cyrus (i know most PUMAs are not the age group), Lousy Lohan, Derek Jeter, Jay-Z and all your idols for now

Start thinking about Wilburn Ross, Jeremy Siegel, Warren Buffet and a lot others in the finance sector. These stalwarts know a lot about creating wealth. Or even pick people like Clark Howard, Ray Lucia, Najarian Brothers (Pete and Jon) and a lot others that know how the financial system works. Most of these guys mentioned the impending disaster a few years back Search YOUTUBE for JIM CRAMER on FED. Watch him rant about what the FED could have done (6 – 12 months back) if you already didn’t know.
Warren is one savvy person that holds cash when most are invested. No wonder he is ready to buy stuff today at throwaway price. Real estate agents – is this not the time smart ones lurk looking for deals on foreclosed homes.
Bottomline, just start spending more time(if you have any left beyond work and home time) in researching the big players that are reputed for their moves, dealmaking and perhaps learn through that the virtue of understanding how you could use some principles they apply (to their own decision making) to make your future life or whatever is left of it (the wealth creation part of it) more secure and perhaps be less impacted by future repetitions. I assure you that like Enron, Worldcom, MCI you now have bailout and in another 5 – 7 years you are going to see it again. It is just human greed

This is the letter I put together for the action center as an example of what can be sent to the local newspapers and the blogs.

Some might want to add a personal experience about equal pay for equal work, but don’t make it more than a paragraph, as papers frequently have a word limit.

********************************************

Date

In the course of any campaign, things are often said, that once the underlying story is known, turn out to be very deceptive. Barack Obama has released a new campaign advertisement that accuses John McCain of being against women’s right to earn equal pay for equal work.

Let us examine the rest of the story.

In reviewing the pay scale of Barack Obama’s current campaign staff, the average woman earns 78 cents to every dollar that a man in a similar position on the Obama campaign staff earns. In addition to this, the majority of his top campaign advisors are men.

When we compare those wages with the wages earned by women on John McCain’s staff we find an entirely different picture. In that campaign, The women actually average $1.01 to every $1.00 paid to men, a figure that is statistically equal.

Dr. Lynette Long, a psychologist and political activist, met with both McCain and Obama right after the Democratic convention. In those meetings, Dr. Long asked the candidates for a committment to hire equal numbers of men and women in high places in their campaigns, adn to pay them equal wages for equal work done. Senator McCain made the committment, and has kept it. Obama, on the other hand, refused to make the the committment and has not included many women in his campaign. He still pays his women staffers 78% of what he pays the male employees in equal positions.

There is a saying: Actions speak louder than words. Senator Obama’s actions scream his lack of committment to equal pay for equal work, while Senator McCain’s actions show him to be fully committed to the concept by his own example.

Sincerely,

your first initial and last name
your city/state

LETTER TO ALCEE HASTINGS IN RESPONSE TO HIS LITTLE CHAT WITH JEWISH DEMS TODAY AS REPORTED BY CNN (thanks to Mick for posting the highlights)
—————————————————–
Dear Congressman Hastings:

I am writing to you regarding your recent talk with Jewish Democrats, warning them to be “wary” of Sarah Palin based on the fact that she is a hunter. Apparently, according to your self-created equation, anyone who carries a gun and hunts is not friend of Jews or blacks.

May I say that I am a Jew and I grew up in a community of non-Jews who did not carry guns. Not at all. Instead, many wore white gloves. Growing up in a resort beach community, many were members of exclusive beach clubs. And, I quite vividly recall no blacks or Jews could join any of these clubs. In fact, we were not even allowed to work at them. Nor could we join the Elks Club or the Kiwanis Club, and so forth. I assume you understand.

Later in life, I went to graduate school in a rather upper middle class community where no blacks or Jews owned homes or land, quite by design, not by coincidence. As I recall, none of those who lived in that town were the gut-toting NRA types, either. They were more the superficially polite, Martini drinking, well educated, seemingly refined sorts.

So, you see, Congressman Hastings, there does not appear to be any neat or tidy way to pigeon hole how to know when someone will be for you or against you because you are a Jew, or black, or any other demographic group. What I’ve learned over the years is to trust my instincts about each person I meet and I’ve discovered time and again, it’s pretty damned hard to generalize about those who will be for you and those who will be against you.

I do know that as a Jew, I can pretty much count on a candidate who embraced a church that awarded Louis Farrakhan a Lifetime Achievement Award, is not the candidate for me. As for whether someone who totes a gun and strips moose has any relevance upon how they may view me as a Jew, I simply couldn’t say. Thus far in life, I’ve found no reason to make such an assumption. What a curious world view you seem to have created. It’s a pity you are in a position to espouse such nonsense to others.

Anna7000 and Snowtiger- I am lurking…alas, I cannot take credit for that post- it was sent to me by our friend Ricki so I posted it and did not give her the credit – (she usually likes to lay low)….But, as you know, she has no problems with us passing this stuff on to whomever, whenever, how many times it takes for people to see the error of their ways.

Went to hear Thomas Friedman tonight who received the Fisher College of Business Award at Ohio State University. That man is brilliant – it is rare that someone who writes so well can be such an amazing orator too. He never leaned toward political views, but kept talking about how government is so broken that we are in the most critical of times. If you’ll remember, he is the Pulitzer Prize winning author of “The World is Flat, A Brief History of the 21st Century, , The Lexus and the Olive Tree – Understanding Globalization and now has a new book out called Hot, Flat and Crowded. He is a regular columnist for the NYT (don’t hold that against him). He’s the kind of speaker that I don’t always understand cuz he’s so above me, and I also don’t understand the people that understand him!

Anyway, thanks for giving me credit for Ricki’s remarks, but I have too many brain cells dead from the week long power outtage to even put together two sentences that I would consider worthy of a letter to the editor or anything like that at this point.

But, I appreciate you thinking enough of me that it could have been attributed to me! lol

I was at work and couldn’t participate in the earlier discussion of the bailout of financial institutions. So here are my thoughts.

Bull $h!t. No way should we bail these people and companies out. Let them go down, other companies and executives will rise up to take their places. It may take a few months but it will happen. If this batch of rich old men refuse to loan money to The People unless we eat their garbage then another batch of rich old men won’t be able to sell cars and other goods to people who want to pay to borrow money to purchase the goods. So let all these old rich men duke it out. While they are busy doing that new young agile and responsive companies will be forming to take advantage of the pent up needs of customers. All these problems have been known for several years, McCain tried to address them several years ago, the only reason it is coming to a head now is because Bush will be gone soon and the companies see this as their last chance to extort The People through “our” government. In fact why doesn’t the Gov tell them to go to hell and instead they can loan money directly to The People since the old financial markets don’t want to anymore. Yep the gov should loan directly to The People after carefully screening their ability to repay and keep the economy going in that manner and let these crooks and their companies die.

is it a sin to start teaching kids at 4 instead of at 6? When you can give them Barney and Telly Tubby, can they not start some form of learning, cause this directly affects picking reading.
In Asia, population alone is a factor that adds competitiveness. More is parent’s desire for kids to be better informed, educated, ready to take on the world.
SO I guess, parents must start early even if schools take their time and their set up to do it later.
Osaka and Asian4Hillary would agree, our kids here are taught (asian and some other region kids) around 3 – shapes, numbers etc as well as our vernacular speak. I think it is for current and future parents to start a new trend. This is the change I can believe in.

I want to update everyone on the little kitten that my neighbor and I rescued last night.

This morning I decided to try to deflea him. (I was wrong, it looks like a he now) I decided to try the bath oil method that my mom used on puppies. I went out back on the paito and took some skin so soft bath oil and saturated his fur everywhere but on his head. Then I took a rough paper towel and rubbed him down with it. As I cleaned his fur, the fleas died! They were still clinging to his fur, so I took a comb and got them out. I continued to feed him a bottle all day. He ate almost 3 ounces by 6:00!

Now he is clean and trying to get out of this box every time he thinks I am not looking. His eyes are now both open, indicating that he is about 10 days old. At this point he appears to be solid white with no color of any kind on him, but he isn’t an albino, because he has dark eyes.

We are going to call him PUMA.

#176 Henerietta – I bought a home in 2007 and was shopping around. Some sales men (I used to be in Sales / marketing 12 years back) started with ARM, LEG what not to pitch my current rent (then) with the interest only repayment. ANother said I could get 110 to 120 percent given my good credit score (I must have given them a fake number). I just played up to them and when I heard enough I cut them all to say 15 year Fixed or nothing. I saw red faces but I found some one that took it.

I guess that means the money I worked for and earned, and saved is worth far more today.
My Grandfather was right: “Stay away from the stock market. Work, save, and always pay cash.” I’m glad I listened. Today I have no mortgage, no car payment, and if I don’t want to get up and go to work tomorrow, I don’t have to, because I didn’t sell my tomorrows and owe someone money.

#213 Seattlegirl on 09.24.08 at 10:10 pm

#202 LotusBoy: Thats the way to work it!

I got my first home loan from a group of family members. We went to a lawyer and wrote a contract for 7% interest for a 20 year loan and I paid it to a bank account and paid the bank a fee to provide records for tax purposes. At the time 7% was way below market rate and I kept the loan even when rates went down because the old folks who loaned it too me lived off of Social Security and the return on my loan. So you see it is not the end of the world if the banks stop loaning money for awhile. I have a very good friend who ran an ad in her church paper for a private loan for her home and she is very happy with her situation too.

Bill is Right, BOZO is going to win, check this out!

OH Secretary of State fooling around with GOP absentee ballots

Rick Moran
September 24, 2008

This is pretty brazen even for a Democrat.

It appears that Ohio’s Secretary of State doesn’t like Republicans very much. In fact, Jennifer Brunner has been referred to as the “most partisan” official in the state.

That must explain why she is disqualifying thousands of Republican votes through some arrogant chicanery that would make Mayor Daley in Chicago proud as James Bronson of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports: *

The John McCain campaign sent out more than 1 million applications for absentee ballots to Republicans. Each had a line at the top next to a box: “I am a qualified elector.”

Brunner sent a memo telling county election officials to reject those applications for absentee ballots if the box was not checked. “Failure to check the box leaves both the applicant and the board of elections without verification that the applicant is a ‘qualified elector’,” she wrote.

But that’s contrary to state law and Brunner doesn’t have the authority, according to the lawsuit and an opinion from Hamilton County’s Republican Prosecutor Joe Deters.

Ohio law allows voters to request an absentee ballot on the back of a grocery sack if they want to, as long as they include their name, address, date of birth, signature and either a driver’s license number, last four Social Security numbers or a valid picture I.D.

There is nothing in the law about checking a box to verify a qualified voter. The voter’s signature is enough, because that’s what is checked to send ballots, said Hamilton County Clerk of Courts Greg Hartmann, who ran against Brunner in 2006 and is now county chairman for the McCain-Palin campaign. “It’s just bald partisanship,” he said. “She’s trying to disqualify likely McCain voters.”

Bronson reports that Obama himself said earlier this month “I Tell You What, It Helps in Ohio That We’ve Got Democrats in Charge of the Machines.” Even if it were in jest Obama knows full well that he is playing to the paranoia of the left when it comes to Ohio and voting.

But Brunner is simply playing old fashioned hardball politics. A judge should recognize that and reinstate those ballots immediately.

And Brunner should dash her resume off to Daley quickly. No doubt hizzoner would see the Secretary of State as a woman after his own heart.

* Clarification: We failed to properly link and attribute the above blockquote to James Bronson, a columnist for the Cincinnati Enquirer. American Thinker deeply regrets the oversight and publicly apologizes to Mr. Bronson for our error.

If you can manage to own a home without going through a bank, Great! But most people cannot. The problems are very deep, right to the root of the industry itself. In fact, it should not be an ‘industry’ at all. It should be local and regulated with real people, not programed lending. Yes, you read that right, programed lending.

The word for this is Monalisa Lending. The loan officer/originator has learned how to write up paper work in the computer to make it slip through the system easier. The appraisal process is neutered to fit an automated program for reading it. Every phase of the transaction is a pretty picture that the computer will accept. But that is all it is: A pretty picture.

For the last three years I have refused to do work for people using this system. They don’t call it Monalisa Lending, but those who hate it do. That is badmouthing the system, I suppose, but Oh, Well, at least our consciences are clear.

#221 snowtiger: Definitely go for the peer to peer lending.

Another example, the pool my kids swim at was leaking and the repairs would have been $900,000. Instead we voted to build a new pool for about twice as much, the banks wanted too much for the loan so we sold bonds to the members. Members got a higher return than they could easily get anywhere else and the pool got a lower interest rate. We sold the batch of debt in one weekend and had more people who wanted in than debt. The pool turned out great and we have a waiting list of over 500 families who want to join.

Thats a good example. I barter all the time in my store.
Rightn now, I have a customer who is retired , idk the term, he makes dentures.
Charges three hundred dollars. I have put him in touch with people who need them and they are doing his yard work and such, at a fair rate in exchange for the teeth. :)
A part time employee of mine needs dentures and I have agreed to trade him food for them. This is a bonus for my worker. It only cost me wholesale price of my product and she gets a set of dentures.

Once again, McCain has shown the world who the real leader is!

Mr. Bush could not hold the kind of meeting he is holding with just McCain and the congressional leaders attending. He HAD to invite Obama, and Obama HAD to go!

Let’s see:

Obama procrastinates about picking his running mate forcing McCain to pick his VP on the day following the D. Convention. He picks Palin!
Score 2 leadership points for McCain,,,,,,0 for Obama

McCain goes to Washington to face the monetary crisis head on, Obama refuses to go, the President has a meeting, and Obama is FORCED to go!
Score 2 more leadership points for McCain……..0 for O

#243 normapapuma on 09.24.08 at 10:27 pm

I caught Sean Hannity’s Radio talk show today. He played a tape of BO stating that they can “call me” if needed in Washington about the financial crisis. LOL! BO, no we don’t need you-what for?? So you can talk incessantly? We need action and McCain leadership. Now he’s going cause Bush called. OMG what a jerk.
MO and Mrs. Biden were at Cedar Crest College Allentown today to talk to veteran’s families. A friend said “Well that’s nice.” After reminding her that I’m Nobama, I said, “Why, has she forgiven America for being a down right mean and shameful country now?” My friend said, “No, I think it just says PA is key for them.” I think it shows that even party-line Dems realize how fake the so-called outreach really is. I’m hoping to flip this girl to Nobama!

snowtiger, Henerietta, seattlegirl -
thanks for all your responses. Good to have some sensible talk. Makes BO look like stone dumb(but he is worse than that)

Another target of mine is people that buy a car on a 72 or 84 month loan – didn’t exist about a decade ago when I landed here on Ellis Island and put my thumb impression on USA official paper (ok laugh now)
72 months is a 6 year loan. In 6 years if some one drives a 20000 dollar Sedan 60000 miles the car would be worth less than 6000. but perhaps they would have ended up paying atleast 4000 – 6000 dollars in interest. the car is close to worthless. This is better than leasing a great BMW or Benz every 2 or 3 years and the bankers laugh their way to the bank and later come back to you asking to bail them out

#250 Sisterluck on 09.24.08 at 10:34 pm

HAHA. Bozo doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing. Did you see his speech? He was mostly looking at his notes. Guess there was no teleprompter. Pelosi and Reid tell bozo to keep campaigning, keep raising money, don’t worry about this financial crisis, we got it. Bozo does as told. Then the hateful Reid attacks McCain by saying he’s doing this for a political photo op and is scared to debate. HAHA Reid is a hateful moron. Then Bush trumps it all by calling both McCain and bozo to the meeting. Bozo has to accept. Looks like the blabbing, do nothing, know nothing loser that he truly is. Priceless.

234 CyberFerret52 Or, possibly, the people that are for the bailout don’t get that the ‘problem’ isn’t really as severe as we are being led to believe. The alternative to a bailout is the lenders absorb their losses. If they go broke it will be due to mismanagement, not to us not bailing them out. Others will take their places and the market will eventually correct itself.

PLEASE READ AND THANK AUTHOR

Cyberferret52 and Anna7000

You both posted earlier on the great article by Tony Blankley about media bias:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/political_commentary/commentary_by_tony_blankley/the_man_who_never_was

and suggested people might want to write and thank him. Tony Blankley is an Executive Vice President with Edelman public relations in Washington and a Visiting Senior Fellow in National-Security Communications at the Heritage Foundation. Some of you may remember him as a conservative regular on The McLaughlin Group. He may still have a weekly column in The Washington Times and is a frequent guest on various political talk shows. If you have not read the article please do so and send him some encouragement. The only address I found was:

Tony.Blankley@edelman.com

Today is the first day that I have noticed so many references to the associations we have been trying to persuade MSM to cover – William Ayers, Michael Pfleger, Rev Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan. Many of these were covered on FOX today. It is SO important to encourage those in the media who are finally addressing these issues. :) :)

Then the polls say bozo is trusted more on the economy? uh ok. Makes no sense to me. I wouldn’t trust bozo to run a lemonade stand.

Here’s my “prowl” letter to Mr. Hastings. I used my favorite FL hotel for my address.

The Don CeSar Beach Resort
3400 Gulf Blvd.
St. Pete Beach, FL 33706

Dear Mr. Alcee Hastings,

You told an audience of Jewish Democrats today that they should be wary of Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin because “anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks.”

I find your comments to be irresponsible and highly insulting. I live in an area where people of all races and faiths, (whites, and blacks, Catholics and Jews), come together on most issues and celebrate each other’s differences. Many of us “tote” guns and many love to hunt. For you to make such a careless comment just shows how low the Democratic Party will go in an attempt to get a vote for Barack Obama. Shame on you for using such divisive racist rhetoric in an attempt to put fear in the hearts of my fellow democrats. It’s people like you that are making it VERY easy for me to vote for McCain on Nov. 4th.

If you disagree with Gov. Palin’s policies, then attack those policies but when you personally attack her you have crossed a line. Once you made your attacks personal you lost your debate.

Mr. Hastings, you owe Gov. Palin an apology for your baseless attacks on her character. You also owe an apology to the many Americans in our great nation who also exercise their constitutional right to own guns and hunt.

Sincerely,

Mick
PUMA Pac

I am not usually a cat person. In fact, I have 5 dogs living here, as I run a small dog kennel and breeding operation. (I seem to have fewer and fewer litters).

Anyway, I am not sure what to do about this little Puma guy! He is adorable, and my 4 year old granddaughter thinks he is grand! But I have been sneezing all day, and most of my siblings have a feline dander allergy. I hope this is something else.

I am glad to have saved his life. He is very lively. I am sure he is going to grow quickly. All babies seem to do that, don’t they?

Obama is all PR and no substance, so McCain can best him every time. I get a good laugh every time it happens!

Off Topic … Kittens

Glad to hear that your kitty is doing well. I consider myself a pro with kitty stuffs. I have 5 indoor cats, the oldest is 18 yrs. old.

FYI: Be alert that kittens that age usually need some help in the elimination department. Mother cats lick their kittens to help them, so you may need to help them out. No licking necessary though … hold the kitten over the toilet and use a wet wipe on his/her privates. This will stimulate the kitten to pee/poo.

Good luck!

Okay, I don’t know if anyone reported this from Greta on Fox News, this guy Alan Warms from Yahoo News said their poll of the same 2000 Clinton supporters as poll in June…

58 % will vote for Obama
42 % unchanged will not vote for him ‘at this point’
They think we are undecided, and they also said
– Sarah Palin had no effect on this group of people
– Biden had no effect on this group
– Most do not think Obama is trustworthy

They can’t figure it out and are waiting for the next poll in 3 weeks to make more conclusions.

Also here is the article on the YahooNews website:

http://www.charlottesvillenewsplex.tv/home/headlines/29642144.html

************* MURPHY **********

***************************************

I propose a PUMA Pac Prowl tomorrow to write and let these people know why we will not vote for Obama, and also some of us can either choose to write the same info Murphy writes or add our own story of why we won’t vote for BO.

Here is one email address on the article to write the author: mark.tenia@wcav.tv
It would be great if someone could track down Alan Warms email to include on the email too, also Greta at Fox news: gretawire@fox.com,
and any other news sites we want to include on the prowl.

Bahaha. Quote from Riverdaughter’s blog:

Obama thought cloud: (stomping his feet) I want to talk on TV to my public to win votes and influence people instead of heading back to Washington to solve the nation’s biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression! I don’t wanna play with the other kids. (tilting chin up) I’m talking to them on my phone every minute. All of them: Nancy and Harry and Ben and Henry. See? (pointing to cell phone)

(aside, sternly) You’re all fools! You’re making me very angry that I have to take time for such trivialities. Hmpf…”

I made it into a flyer that is on the Action Center, the graphics are gone because it left no room for the disclaimer on the bottom. 313 Remember November – Takes me like, forever, to get a post to post. I have to copy and save cause it takes so many tries. Argh. Anyway, as for the topic changing, yeah, there’s usually a bunch of stuff going on simultaneously. Sometimes I find it rather humorous: You got folks in a tizzy over some recent political thing while a few other folks are having a more personal discourse about a topic they often go at it about, while Henerietta and Mick discuss how to stimulate a tiny kitten who was weaned too young to urinate. Then you gotta scroll through my double or triple (on a good day, quadruple!) posts! Don’t worry about it. Just jump in!!!

#324 MKfromLA on 09.24.08 at 11:42 pm

Hi all,

This evening I walked down the hill to my local pizzeria. What do I see taped to every streetlight? Big BIG posters which say

CAMPAIGN JOBS TO ELECT OBAMA!
(((((( picture of the anointed one here )))))))
Earn $1300 – $2100 per month
Work for Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. on behalf of the National Democratic Party to build the base of support necessary to change the country in ‘08 and beyond.

FT Career and leadership opportunities also available nationwide

and a bunch of tear tags saying

CAMPAIGN JOBS
call Paula at
323-257-1225
http://www.bringchange2008.org

I wonder how they know if an applicant is a True Believer?

#325 KarenWI on 09.24.08 at 11:43 pm

I was just reading over the posts in this thread. I have to say I’m encouraged by them. I admit that when I heard what happened today re Oblahblah and McCain my heart sank. Yes, I knew why McCain did it- country first- and I’m all in agreement. I just figured that many people would see this as not only a political ploy, but a way to put off the debate when McCain is behind in the polls. I think I heard Fox News say this evening that ONE of these guys just made a huge mistake; and that it remains to be seen which one made the mistake. I hope people see the truth and see it was Oblahblah who made the mistake. I fear, though, because it seems like they can’t “see the forest for the trees” and have been drinking the koolaid too long to think or see straight anymore. God save us from an Obama presidency… and God bless America!

Murphy, you have mail.

Thanks for the encouragement Anna. I spend too much time reading the blog to make sure my information is not duplicating someone else’s observations – so from now on I will try to jump in and perhaps you will all forgive me if you’ve been there already!

#252 Alice it’s really, really bad. I’ve been watching the markets for 6-7 years now and have been expecting this but, hoping it would never come. It’s here. Potential for a depression worse than the last one.

#330 indy on 09.24.08 at 11:50 pm

I know this is off topic, but I just had a thought that made me laugh.

When Obama made Solis-Cohen his Assistant to the VP it was done as a slap in the face to Hillary.

However it backfired on them. Obama and Solis-Cohen are probably pulling out their hair with Biden and his gaffes. Not the cushy job Solis-Cohen thought it was going to be!

Hillary is going to get the last laugh.

Remember, you just may get what you wish for.

Someone suggested a prowl to Greta and since I have been considering writing to her anyway, I decided why wait any longer. The following is what I wrote to Greta.

Dear Greta,

On tonight’s program you were discussing the fact that the percentage of Hillary’s supporters that do not support Obama has not changed since June. We in the PUMA movement are not at all surprised that there is no movement in Obama’s direction. If Obama had won a square and fair primary, most of us would have been sad, but we would have supported the legitimate nominee. The fact that Obama had been selected by Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, the DNC to be the nominee from the start of the primary season and did nothing to assure a valid primary selection in the face of massive fraud especially in the caucus process and the fact that the very people whose job it is to assure the validity of the process, were guilty by omission when they witnessed the outrageous treatment of Senator Clinton by the MSM and they were strangely silent, not one word was said in the defense of the most talented, the most qualified person that the party has been blessed with probably since Roosevelt.

Greta, if you would really like to know all the reasons why Hillary’s supporters have not moved over to support Obama, invite Darragh Murphy, founder of PUMA to discuss the matter with you. She will be able to discuss in depth and clarity what I have outlined here.

Greta, I would also like to tell you that I was always pleased to follow your program on CNN and was therefore saddened when you moved to FOX. You must have seen something in FOX that I didn’t see, but I have now followed you to FOX and always enjoy your daily program.

Sincerely,

Name

Pandering to people just for their votes and continuing to pander them is detrimental to long term well being of the country of all hell breaks loose.

TOPIC: FOX NEWS

OK all you Big FOX NEWS Fans, answer me this. How come on their news story tonight about “Clinton supporters who still won’t vote for Obama – same percentage as June” – FOX announced one of the main reasons all these Clinton supporters won’t vote for Obama is because of Race? As in, racism??!!!

This was on GRETA’s show. How many emails, faxes, web postings have we all made to FOX about all the many reasons we cannot support Obama, and especially all the times we’ve mentioned Caucus Fraud – yet they cannot seem to report on the PUMA movement.

NOW I hope you will all agree with me: we can watch FOX news, but FOX news leaves _much_ to be desired.

#339 hillstheone on 09.24.08 at 11:58 pm

Great letter! Did you hear that in Greta’s poll some 35,000 (?) people responded and 11% thought that McCain’s actions today were politically motivated and a whopping 89% of the respondents thought that he was putting the ‘country first’.

#345 indy on 09.25.08 at 12:03 am

#332 lillibet,

Nice letter.

Did you know that Greta’s husband was a big Hillary fundraiser and traveled with Hillary during her campaign? He feels just like we do. He’s won’t support Obama and is now campaigning for McCain.

I think deep down Greta probably feels just like we do, but she is one of the few show hosts left who is really fair and balanced and no one knows who she supports.

I had no idea until I saw her husband interviewed on another TV show, that her husband was that close to the Clintons.

Topic: THE MEDIA

FOX SUCKS. But so does CNN.
NPR is slightly better than FOX, but hardly by much.
NY Times is decent, but still has gender bias issues about Sarah Palin (like most of the networks).
ABC is so-so, and at least they sometimes say good things about Hillary.

Wow we really ARE a disenfranchised group. Most of us half-heartedly voting McCain, since we have no one else to vote for. Almost all of us have no mainstream media to watch any more, so we watch FOX for lack of anything else.

I still think PUMA should form a 3rd Party, and we definitely, definitely, need to keep working on mainstream media.

Is the Democratic Party reformable, that is the question..

Is mainstream media really reformable, that is the question.

#347 Indy,
Greta just reported tonight that one of the main reasons Hillary supporters won’t vote for Obama is because of race.

Still like Greta?

She’s an OK (read: Average) reporter, at least I thought so up till tonight.. Now I wonder why she finds it so hard to read all of the many many emails & postings I KNOW my fellow PUMA’s have made / sent to FOX.

Anyway I am tired & off to bed now. I just wanted to drop in and tell everyone please don’t fall into bed w/FOX news OR give yourselves fully over to the Republican Party.

We all want to make the best out of a bad situation but after watching FOX tonight I can see for the most part, they do not give a whit about reporting on PUMA’s views on the election. Don’t kid yourselves, FOX news really doesn’t care about PUMA except whatever it can do for their ratings.

_____________________________

To be fair it was the AP/Yahoo researcher who attributed it to race, not Greta, and if I recall the comment came at the end of the interview otherwise she may have challenged that conclusion.

As BillieJo and Mick suggested earlier we (the immovable HRC supporters) need to contact that researcher and AP/Yahoo and give him our suggestions as to why we will not be voting for BO. Also while it is currently on the radar at FOX send more of those letters again (see llibet’s great letter above).

Yes, I cannot believe I am watching FOX but there is no-one else that is tolerable. I agree – still leaves much to be desired but I do believe we have made an impact there and our persistence is paying off. :)
