Howard Pilots the Swift Boat
We warned yesterday that the Obama Movement and the DONC were preparing to head for the low road. Less than a day later they’re well on their way down into the mud. They’re trying to raise money from Democrats to fund this little pipe bomb of malodorous gas under John McCain.
Remember, Democracy for America, the group begging for money to fuel up the Swift Boats, is the PAC founded by Howard Dean to put his 50-State Strategy into action. It’s what catapulted him into the driver’s seat at the DONC, and is now run by his brother Jim.
Oh, and it’s a pathetically lame attempt at swift-boating on top of everything else. The entire ad is boring, unpersuasive, and embarrassing. The talking-head guy has a sour-puss on and rushes through his innuendo-laden attack as if he’s ashamed to be where he is. He oughtta be.
And another thing. Back in 2006, John Kerry said, “I won’t stand for the Swift Boating of any candidate. Help me in fighting back!” Hmmm, wonder what he’ll have to say about Howard and Obama’s new ad. I hope you’re not holding your breath.
UPDATE: Riverdaughter reminds me of Anglachel’s article from late last night that is a MUST read. Basically, Anglachel is explaining in far more detail and with more background evidence what I was saying last month:
Oh, and the DONC still gets the willies when it gets in close contact with actual representatives of THE WORKING CLASS! EWWWW! I see poor people. YUCK! Why can’t they just go to the dentist for crying out loud? We don’t really have to associate with those freaks do we? (Great way to appeal to voters, Guys).
The thing about Republicans, as wrong as they are about pretty much everything, is that they are UNAPOLOGETICALLY BADASS about their base. They like Christy Todd Whitman and Carly Fiorina and Orrin Hatch, but they LOVE T. Boone Pickens, and Tom Delay, and now, Sarah Palin. Republicans are not embarrassed by the more kooky, less groomed wings of their party — the religious fanatics and gun nuts, the cowboy bizness men who thumb their noses at the law, the down-home shotgun ranch families with more children than dogs or more dogs than children, who can keep count — they LOVE them. They are proud of them and proud to be in the same political party with them.
I don’t think it’s a simple pander for votes (and even if it is, why the hell can’t the DONC learn to do this effectively??) I think a college drop-out like Karl Rove, who makes it all the way to the highest pedestal of power in the world, is absolutely flat-out tickled pink that half of his party is made up of people who have never been inside an Institute of Contemporary Art or an Ivy League library, but yet can still beat the political crap out of every lily-livered weakling in the Whole Foods parking lot. I think they LOVE that stuff.
The DONC, on the other hand? Love their base? Not so much.
The DONC hates their base. Hates, hates, hates us. Wishes we would all just go under a rock and pretend we don’t exist (except on Election Day when they try to shame and goad us into going to the polls for them). I argued then that the RNC is the exact opposite. They LOVE thei r base. Love, love, love them. From the hillbillies to the oil billionaires; the church ladies to the Carly Fiorina’s, the Republicans get all giddy and chest-thumpin’ PROUD when they’re all in the same room together. THAT’S WHY THEY WIN AND WE ALMOST ALWAYS LOSE. Riverdaughter is also a Must Read this morning.

Carrie – I’m still laughing!
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! (#1 this morning)
Am waiting to post so others can get up the stairs…
My downstairs post;
OBAMA, Party Unity My Ass!
goodness Carrie, I’m still wiping the tears from my eyes from laughing so hard at that story!
Murphy Swift boat is also buying ads on facebook. Found some loop hole where they don’t even have to list who they are.
Or, perhaps, Hillary is showing her true colors: she wants to be the center of attention. Just a thought.
The Jewish-American League (or whatever their name is) has come out and said they will not support Obama.
I still think of Howard Dean as that crazy guy who shrieked like a strangled muppet during his failed presidential bid.
If Hillary and Sarah both appear at the rally, the msm will concentrate on them and not the purpose of the rally. Since the UN is in NY, I think Senator Clinton should have been invited. Gov. Palin was invited because she is running for VP. Palin should not have been included as a speaker at the rally.
I was downstairs fiddling around, looked up and everybody was gone. So, I’ll say it again:
I just heard about Hillary pulling out of the UN Jewish rally supposedly because Sarah Palin was also invited. At first I was disappointed, but after a second cup of coffee, I saw the light. I think the Clinton’s know that this would anger many in the Jewish community and the response would be a jump to the McCain side. I read recently that BO has made good strides in recruiting the Jewish vote and this oughta check it. I don’t think the Clinton’s want BO to win any more than any of the PUMAs, but, they have party obligations that we don’t have. If we don’t see a trend of Jewish votes going to McCain, then I’ll go back to being disappointed and more.
#8 stoney42, LMAO another you can’t play…this is my playground…I thought we were grown up??????
scarlettpuma on 09.17.08 at 9:07 am Puma’s I just heard on Fox News that Hillary isn’t attending the Rally outside the UN Monday, because Sarah Palin is to be there. I think we should email Hillary to let her know how disappointed PUMA’s are in her!
***********************************
The reason for the cancellation coming from Hillary’s staffers (not Hill herself at this point) is that she was upset because she did not know Palin was also attanding and was unaware this was a “partisan” event. Huh?
With both Dems and Repub’s invited there, it would have been a BIPARTISAN event. It would have only been a partisan event if Hillary was the only one there. This is a private organization, and can invite whomever it wants.
Biden was not invited because he is in the bag for Iran. He has taken a load of contributions from groups linked to the regime in Iran, and has gone so far as to tell Jewish officials in Israel that they needed to get used to the idea of Iran having nukes.
I’ll withhold final judgment until we hear from Hill herself, but this looks incredibly BAD. It makes Hill look like a petulant child. And it makes her look like a partisan hack that refuses to be her glow dimmed by Sarah Palin. I was shocked to hear about this, and it will not bode well with voters, let alone Jewish voters, who support Israel and/or believe Iran is a serious threat to our security.
And it is just another example of the same old partisan bickering that drives people from both parties toward the independent column. How about putting your country before your party, for once?
Why shouldn’t our Country be JOINED in this effort…excuses, excuses, excuses!!!
I can’t blame the organizers… they have to do what they have to do to get attention for their issues…
I don’t blame Hillary for backing out and I don’t blame Palin for accepting.
I do blame Obama and the DNC for putting Hillary in this general predicament she is now in.
Fox showed a picture of a Cougar, but it is one of Puma’s photos and said they have their “claws” out!
Hey , these are African killer bees ,people !!!!! They hurt !!! LOL
“The turmoil in the capital markets is bad news and is forcing each candidate to reassess their current pronouncements on the economy. So, let’s ask some questions. Of the two candidates for President, who got the most money from the two financial giants now in the news–Lehman Brothers and AIG?
McCain received $117,500 from Lehman Bros.
Obama received $370,524 from Lehman Bros.
How about AIG?
John McCain got $36,875 from AIG
Barack Obama raked in $75,899 (+205%)
Got that? Barack Obama, the guy who supposedly is not beholden to special interests, took three times as much money from Lehman Brothers and more than twice as much from AIG.
Gee, and who did the now Government financed mortgage broker Fannie Mae give its money to when it wanted to influence a politician?
OpenSecrets lists the top three politicians in which FNMA “invested” from 1989 to 2008.
Top Recipients of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Campaign Contributions, 1989-2008Name Office State Party Grand Total
Dodd, Christopher S CT D $165,400
Obama, Barack S IL D $126,349 ($6000 came from the PAC)
Kerry, John S MA D $111,000
What about McCain?
The folks at Fannie Mae didn’t show him a lot of love. According to Open Secrets:
McCain, John S AZ R $21,550 (all from individuals).
Oh yeah, and who tabbed the former head of Fannie Mae to head up his Vice Presidential search team? OBAMA, that’s who. Back in May Barack turned to Jim Johnson, former CEO of Fannie Mae.
When it came time for a tough decision who did Barack turn to? A former community organizer per chance? Hell no! He went with the inside the beltway uber lobbyist.”

“Biden was not invited because he is in the bag for Iran. He has taken a load of contributions from groups linked to the regime in Iran, and has gone so far as to tell Jewish officials in Israel that they needed to get used to the idea of Iran having nukes.”
So true.
This action by the Obama camp, just proves that they do NOT have the best interest of OUR country in their plan.
TexasTigress
Well, was the honey worth it? Did you get any?
You could have been hurt very, very badly!
Kempion1. Obama refuses to support protest of Iran at the UN.
I hadn’t heard anything about this please give details??? You know the MSM they don’t say much against their beloved.
Good morning PUMAs
I’m waiting today to see Lynn De Rotschild giving her press conference why she’s endorsing McCain and will campaign for him. Rotschild is not just an ordinary democrat, she’s a member of the DNC Committee. When she said, “I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him,” rings a bell in my head, its the same feeling I have against NObama. What does De Rotschild know about NObama the public doesn’t know? Why she feels she cannot trust him? A committee member of DNC endorsing McCain? That should make ANYONE thinking of voting for NObama think twice voting for him. something stinks here like a rotten fish the DNC and Democratic Party is not telling the American people about NObama.
What we know about NObama is what we’ve dig so far through our own research, and what the media and NObama is saying about his self and we’ve connected the dot. De Rotschild have her info about NObama from WITHIN the DNC committee itself as member of the said committee.
NObama supporters are calling her now racist, these people have just shown their own brand of racism.
Don’t be afraid to express your support for McCain, De Rotschild rise above those threats as I’m sure she’ve received a lot of them from the DNC.
Obama is a fraud and so are most of his dem backers. I am so angry that the MSM is not informing voters. I cannot express how disgusted I am of Obama and his lies.

Tune into whichever news outlet you prefer.
#23 Asian4Hillary they just said coming up soon (didn’t say her name but sure that’s who they are talking about). Now coming up soon could be 5mins to a half hour but wanted to give you the heads up
24 kat in your hat Then go on FOX – fair and balanced!
Asian4Hillary it’s on now fox
1gypsy4mc – See , the hive was in an itty bitty crack in a tree , and I recalled that bears will sttick a twig in the crack to get the honey , and justbefore i realized that i was , in fact , not a bear , I plunged my twig into the crack only to anger the entire hive …. They came out slowly at first , causing me to think , “Oh shit” and I casually started jogging across the 3 acres back to the house ,and swatting at them . then I turned and saw a black , angry mob swarming after me . they started stinging me and I started ripping off articles of clothing while my twin girls were running away laughing their asses off at me . Finally i was down to covering my privates with my bandana and running like a Special Olympics atlete(if I were only that good) with body parts flying in all different directions all the way back to the house ! So , the short answer is NO I did not get any freakin honey – until the next day when my neighbor sent a jar home with the girls with a message saying ,” This way is safer ” ……
Pumas, look whos gonna be on ED’S Show, Plains Radio Network’s No Obama Talk show will have as its guest Steve Schmidt, John McCain’s senior advisor, on its radio program tonight (Wednesday) at 7 pm central. Steve will be taking our guestions for 1 hour.
They are also in the process of booking Gov Sarah Palin on our show too. If everything goes right, They will have her in the 2 weeks or so.
My sister the Bee Charmer..LOL
Well, I’m happy to say that I’m a Wal-Mart shopper, i.e., whenever I can get a ride.
McCain leads 58% to 38% among those who regularly shop at Wal-Mart while Obama leads 61% to 36% among those who don’t frequent the retail giant. Overall, Obama leads among those who earn less than $40,000 a year while McCain leads among those with higher earnings. Among white voters, Obama has the edge only among those who earn less than $20,000 a year and his advantage among those lower income white voters is just four percentage points (see crosstabs).
Let;s see…both Obmbo and McCain did a joint appearance at the 9/11 remembrance ceremony, but Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton can not do that as a result of an invitation of the protest group? Why not?
In other words, only Hillary is allowed to protest in public the Iranian hate monger of Israel? Why?
A vice-presidential candidate can not accept an invitation from the protest group? Why not?
Hillary is not appearing because she does not want an occasion where she, the former female candidate for President is seen with the female candidate who by many accounts is drawing former supporters from the Democratic Party….This event became partisan when Hillary cancelled! I am not impressed by her move.
What a great morning PUMAS! Could we have reached the Jewish community to turn towards McCain/Palin? Could we have recruited Lynn De Rotschild to endorse McCain/Palin?
Simple answer…NO! Little by little, secret PUMAS will arise and defeat the evil one! Thanks Hillary for helping!
NO WAY NO HOW OBAMA…NOW OR EVER!

HOLY CRAP!!! That is a creepy video. What if we all just stopped paying our taxes?
Did you notice the symbol in the video at 6:22. It is eerily like Obama’s symbol, don’t you think?
#29 TexasTigress LMAO omg you made me spit my coffee out I was laughing so hard, not that you almost got stung but the explanation of special Olympics atlete and you running and screaming I can so picture it in my head.
29 TexasTigress Oh – I have tears rolling down my eyes!!! I have got to meet you one of these days!!!

NICEEEEEE, Thanks for the link.
About HRC not going to the Iran Protest. There could be a zillion reasons why she is not going…..We don’t know. I am sure we will find out
Obama raises 9 million last night with Barbara Streisand in Beverly Hills.
Tough times HUH?
Gypsy and sly – you have twisted senses of humor ! lol
Kat–
It makes me sick that there are so many people out there struggling and losing their homes, and Oboy is out there raising money like that with the rich and famous. Disgusting. That money could be put to good use, but no, they have to support this disgusting fraud of a candidate instead.
LOL Texas count me with them cause I still crack up on that story!
Next time Obama complains about the economy, just imagine him with celebrities in Beverly Hills, like last night, and how they were laughing it up, spending $30,000 on a meal and a Barbara Streisand song.
PHONIES.
Like these people give a crap about the economy.
I’ve been lurking for sometime and really admire what PUMAs are doing. Thank YOU. I saw this today and wanted to share it. Obama says that Capitalism is dead and he solution is him. This is the scariest thing I’ve seen so far. Is he the Manchurian Candidate?

41 TexasTigress hey, you were the one with the honey stick!!
Beckle says she isn’t going to bring in votes – P had 7,000 people in Ohio yesterday!!!
Carrie – i can never trust you when i don’t have power again !!!! lol
Oh come on I would so have told that story anyway!
Won’t give to see the Hillary & Bill video…I taped them and the e-mail does not say it is to “pay down the debt” like the ones in the past. NO $$$ for *61 except PUMA dollars!
DancesWithPumas I think Hillary is taking a risk – one that she has to. She cannot afford to lose her base by appearing either for or against Palin. Either way, the media would tear her up. IMHO.
46 TexasTigress hey your twins are worse they stood right there and laughed lol and i said i wasn’t laughing at the almost getting stung part.. man now I have to go to the bathroom.
#42 KarlaforHillary on 09.17.08 at 10:35 am

What about the Logan Act?
McCain issued a challenge to BO to answer these charges. What does his BIG MOUTH have to say?
carrie, at least you didn’t tell them about when my nephew was being born and they gave us gowns to go back for the birth and i ripped off my clothes and shoes and went running down the hall into the delivery room with my bare ass hanging out !!! Why do all of my stories end with me naked ?? !!!
How many here can afford a $28,500.00 dinner plate? That amount is at least ONE YEAR budget for a family of 5. NObama can be President for the elite people, they have so much money coming out of their ears they’re throwing it around.
I want a President for the common people, one I can relate to, one who knows shopping in Walmart is not something to be ashame about but makes sense to stretch a dollar.
I bet they’re eating arugula last night. They must be eating steak or lobster made of gold, caviar which pops in their mouth – what freaking special about caviar, IT IS A GODDAMN FISH EGGS GOOD ONLY FOR BAITS!
Hillary is doing the high road thing and it will help her in 12. She will not attack another woman(Palin) and will not fall in there trap. Good for you Hillary smart move.
LOL Omg Remember the nurse said “Um, aren’t you missing something??”
Can someone explain to me please something I must have missed. Why do this movie to show on Innaugral day when it could help the cause showing the illegal moves of Obama before election?
I know this must have been explained and I feel lame not seeing it .I just think it would be of use before?? Sorry will wait the reason.
Hillary doesn’t care if the media tear her up, she’s not running for President in general election.
#38 DancesWithPumas
Do as you see fit. You have been nothing short of cranky and unhospitable toward me since my arrival here.
If you had bothered yourself to read my follow-ups, then you would be aware that I corrected myself when necessary. To say ALL I have stated has been wrong is an extremist view.
I come here and post mostly hopeful (if not helpful) comments). For example, this morning I tried to convey to Murphy not to take the death threats too seriously (previous thread). If such things are not welcome, please let me know.
My comment about the POSSIBLE reasoning behind Hillary refusing to show up to protest Iran’s nuclear aims alludes to a greater question: What’s more important here – supporting Hillary or defending voter rights from corruption? however you choose to look at it, Hillary has chosen to put party before country – the Obama party vs protesting Iran.
You don’t have to like me. Frankly, I don’t care for personalities like yours. You have sniped at me repeatedly. There are much better ways to make your objections known to me than posting such comments HERE.
I digress… and I’m out.
Obama for the working people?? Ca. closed raiser like the one he made fun of Pa working people??

hillary’s stance on Iran
why cant our leaders just stand together one time and show the world we will defend our friends, and they want to be our friends cant they make any kind of concessions as they ask us to do over and over again, time after time
MURPHY!
Where is Howard’s Lipstick?
Texas – we need to find out more about your “natural” instincts here!!
Hey, Obama has the perfect opportunity to meet with the infamous Iranian leader right there in New York City, why not go, not to protest but just meet the man he wants to sit down and talk to, ah America, the land that allows other leaders to come here while America has to meet their leaders in other countries, totally amazing to me.
I’m thinking Hillary had her people tell the Oblahblah campaign bots that this wouldn’t reflect well so that they would make the decision to pull her out.
This accomplishes 2 things for Hillary:
1. She can put the blame on him for cancelling the appearance
2. Obama suffers by losing even more of the Jewish vote
Bill and Hill despise this disgusting excuse of an “American”. I think this move was to hurt him.
Guess we’ll see how it plays out.

Hmm, wonder if Oboy is kicking himself for not taking federal campaign financing?

I am wondering about it too. IF PUMAPAC is contributing money making this film, and that money is coming from members of this organization, why they’re showing the said film during inauguration instead of BEFORE general election?
The film do NOT have an impact to enlighten voters about the truth after November 4. If the person doing this documentary independently, why is it PUMAPAC is contributing money to produce this film? IF our organization contributes money, the said film MUST be release to the public BEFORE November 4.
Murphy, would you please answer this.
Thank you.

Just wanted to let you know that there is a story about the puma movement in our local Toledo city paper.
A repoter that traveled to Denver for the convention was talking about the goings on there and reported about the puma’s at the msnbc tent. It was a pretty decent article, so if our little city paper is reporting on it, then other little city papers may be telling the story also.
The major paper here is the Toledo blade, city paper is an independent paper based out of downtown toledo.

Hillary is doing the high road thing and it will help her in 12. She will not attack another woman(Palin) and will not fall in there trap.
See this is what doesn’t make sense to me what you just said how and why would she attack her when this has nothing to do with the election and it is about standing up for what is happening Iran and a protest.
Ok Texas Tigress you need to stop now or I am gonna have to keep a towel next to me….lmao
OK – Back to Dean-0 We have some really good writers here. Why can’t we do the same thing that Huff-Puff does, and send a really good article to:
American Thinker
Canada Free Press
Real Clear Politics
RCP is always printing crap from sleaze writers, let’s give them something to run with!! We just need to back it up with FACTS!! If we can get one article printed, then maybe we can get more. Even if it is to direct them to the TRUTH!!
The amount of money needed or imagined to run for public office is one of the ongoing reasons why reform is needed in Congress re financing campaigns. And who …what candidate is interested in doing that? Why is our country ruled by millionaires? Why are we?
Because we, increasingly, have become the latter day peons of so called globalization, which is another word for a return to unbridled greed at the expense of country after country…certainly, this country included.
If this cannot be stopped or curtailed, our children and grandchildren will return to the sweat shops of old, just as other countries have. We are fast on our way to that horror. Obimbo is the yesman who will finish this off.
#60 Kempion…before you bolt consider this. Not everyone agrees with everyone else on the blog. I happen to enjoy your posts. I am sure others do as well. This thing with Hillary. Personally, I think she made a huge mistake. Others may see it as a brilliant politcal move. Who is right ? You see my point.
Speak your voice.

What a scam. I understand that besides the $28,500, there was an extra fee for hearing Barbra sing a song!
Yes, I ate leftovers last night.
Still wondering if the Obama campaign approved Hillary’s cancellation of the Jewish community rally?

“Hillary is doing the high road thing and it will help her in 12. She will not attack another woman(Palin) and will not fall in there trap. Good for you Hillary smart move.”
Huh? Why would she have to attack her? If I’m not mistaken, the event has always been a non-partisan event. I don’t think they were going to be on stage together. They were both scheduled to speak about a very inportant issue that effects ALL Americans, not just democrats.
I don’t see how not going is “taking the high road” and more importantly, I don’t see the jewish community seeing it that way either.
#53 Headclunker
Why isn’t there an investigation into this story or more coverage by the MSM? Last night I was listening to conservative talk radio (not easy for me – a lifelong Dem) but they brought up a good point. Following the 1980 hostage crisis, there was an investigation into whether the Republicans interfered with that situation, asking Iran to delay the hostages’ release until after the election to make Carter look bad. There was no evidence, but the investigation went forward just because of the seriousness of the charge. Now, in the current situation, not only is the charge just as serious, but O even admitted to the story’s accuracy!!! This needs to be investigated!!!
On another note, I love Hillary. As a Jew though, I am disappointed in the fact that she will not be attending this rally. I feel like I need to hear directly from her as to whether it is true she will not attend and why.
UPDATE: Riverdaughter reminds me of Anglachel’s article from late last night that is a MUST read. Basically, Anglachel is explaining in far more detail and with more background evidence what I was saying last month:

#60 Kempion Don’t know if you still on. Did not read the post where you told Murphy to not take death threats seriously…you are kidding aren’t you!?!?!
A death threat is a crime that needs to be reported and the authorities need to make the call. Too many bots have warned of “race” riots if *61 losses. Who are they kidding…they will riot even if he wins!

Asian, ya exactly. It was $28,500 per person, and an extra $2,500 for the show. $31,000 STINKING dollars in one night. A person’s entire year’s salary.
At first look, I am really disappointed that Hillary has pulled of her speaking engagement, but when I think about it, I have to agree with Outragedinmaryland that I want to hear directly from Hillary why she made this choice.
My #90 post is intended for Kempion, via CTKEY comment in #80.

I liked (really liked) your letter to the pollsters about needing to factor in the PUMA effect.
I have to work today so when you get your letter done please post it on this page several times so I can find it quickly & send it out at lunch, thanks & great job.
TexasTigress #29,
That is the FUNNIEST story I have heard in a LONG time!
But very glad you were not injured. then it wouldnt be a funny story.
But MAN! you tell a good story!
Murphy
Like Obama gives a crap about the damn economy, getting his Oblow followers to have to worry about supporting his stupid campaign.
If Obama ever gave a crap about people, he would have taken the public campaign money like he promised he would, but NOOOO, he has to keep jacking his supporter’s wallets. His dumb faithful followers skip meals to support his ass and he’s out with the richies, laughing it up with Barbara Streisand. Effing phoney.
UGH, I cannot stand him.
Good Morning Pumas,
I see many here agree with me that Hillary pulling out of the rally is a very bad idea. It seems to be motivated by the same partisan politics that have caused a veritable stalemate in Congress while our country falls down around our ears.
I encourage you to do as I did and voice your displeasure by going to Senator Clinton’s site and sending her an email. You can further demand that she explain her decision publicly.

We’ve just seen ELITICISM of NOBAMA right out in the OPEN. 95% of US population cannot afford NObama’s LUXURY! Are these people sending their hard earn money to NObama campaign are as rich as the people NObama rub elbows in Hollywood? I bet he was telling those people last night while eating their freaking outlandish meal people in small town America are stupid, bitter and clinging to their guns and religion. If he talk about us behind our backs in San Francisco during a private fundraising; NOTHING will stop him to do the same last night!
Texas,
Maybe next time you should at least try to disguise yourself as a rain cloud before stealing the honey. At least that is what Winnie the Pooh did.

Excerpt:
‘ “24% of those who backed Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary now support John McCain, up from 14% on August 26.”
This statistic, buried deep within Quinnipiac University polling out of Florida is a reversal of the trend that we’ve been seeing all summer.
So what’s going on here?’
antifish:
It is good she is not going! I cannot stand her lying to jews and telling that Obama is the man to vote for.
Also, with her gone, and Palin in, it could help with the jew vote for McCain.
Any public event Hillary cancels is good! One less opportunity to yap about Obama.
headclunker #64, I dont know. I think dwp has it!
Donna Brazille in a Politico article.
She said that at times “Obama’s voice is strong and articulate, but people don’t feel attached to him, and they have got to feel attached to him. That would answer some racial aspects that simmer below the radar and sometimes percolate over the top.”
“He has had some moments where he seems unsure of his own voice,” Brazile said, “but I still think he can pull this off.”
And if he doesn’t?
“If he doesn’t, then Obama didn’t lose,” she said. “The country just wasn’t ready.”
Hey Donna, do you think it’s possible the country feels BO isn’t ready? If BO loses- it’s because the dem leadership and BO lost it. I guess Donna believes BO needn’t accept any responsibility for a loss in Nov.
She is an unbelievable jack@ss.
Besides, it would be a spectacle, and ruin the whole point of the cause for the day which is to protest.
Also, Hillary doesn’t want the “smiling Palin/ Hillary shaking hands” photo all over the news.
hey murphy,,I think it’s a great idea you have for meeting up nov 4th..I live in allentown pa & would be more then happy to open my home up to the puma’s,,but here r somethings I think we need to think about..I don’t know how many puma’s there r,,but I think we need to spread out across the country, swing states for sure..I know where I am some may be to scared to even go into polling places if they see a bunch of obots standing outside…I think we need to be in groups in some of these area so that all people feel safe when going to vote…what do you’s think???
#86Murphy: True! ..moreover ..they love anybody who is not a part of their base but who for whatever pragmatic or other reasons becomes a temporary part as in this election cycle…This is the essence of politics, the ability to gather and direct any and every possible support for as long as it takes to win. That used to be the purview of the Democrats in the “old days”…

I have question for anyone who would know. Usually I send links of good articles to friends and family, but it is much easier to get them to read the article if I send the whole thing and not just the link. Is that a legal thing to do if I make sure that the author’s name is there and the name of the website, or do I have to ask the author’s permission?
I dont know the inner workings of the Dem. party especially now. I dont trust Obama and was thinking he set Hillary up somehow. We think of this as a protest that should be but I think he only thinks of number 1 and politically. I may be wrong and was museing outload for input from you all. You are right Antifish. I worked my tail off for this women, she was the BEST canidate the dems have put forth in such a long time and would have been the BEST POTUS the world has seen for quite a while. But seriously, this move shocked me. I nearly fell out of my chair this morning when I first heard the report. Yes it is clearly partisan posturing, yes it was not a very good move for her politically at all. For one thing, she is very popular among the Jewish constituency, and this will put a major dent in that. I cannot imagine why she would do something like this. It’s not an astute political move, NOT Hillary Clinton at all.
I agree, send her a note now Pumas! Let her hear about it. She’s listened to us before, she needs to listen now as well.

Oh man, I’m tempted to give them some money so they can run with that ad. It will hurt, hurt, hurt them, I say, Not John McCain. Unlike Democrats, who grumbled and looked away as Kerry was being smeared for his service, Republicans will rally and make a bit freaking stink about this (as well they should, the man was POW AFTER ALL. Wonderful idea! Group Puma voting on Nov. 4. There is definitely safety in numbers, and it would make it less potentially intimidating if you’re in one of those areas, to go to the polls that way.
In my small town here in Central PA, I really do not need to worry about that – I’m in the heart of Repug country. I believe there are probably 5 Dems in our rural county. Reason I know that is because when Big Dawg Clinton came to visit us during the primaries, all 5 of us from our county there in line together taking stock of our situation!
Once inside I ended up chatting with a true blue repug who had utmost respect for Bill’s statesmanship abilities, had switched to dem to vote for Hillary, and stated emphatically that if John McCain did not win the election, he would feel quite content with Hillary being the POTUS, but that he’d never vote for Oblahblah. I asked him point blank if he was one of those El Rushbo Operation Chaos voters, he said no way. He just trusted the Clinton’s more then he’d ever trust Oblahblah, and that was his strategy by switching – if not McCain then NObama! Gotta love it.

I’m sure Shawn Hannity will be lobbing soft balls, but that’s ok I guess. Especially after what ABC and Charlie Gibson did to her during their interview. Blatantly editing out half her answers to make her look stupid. No way, now how, no trust the media!!!!
I went to a victory rally in Vienna, OH yesterday for McCain-Palin. The President of the AFL-CIO who was a Hillary supporter, endorsed McCain. I spoke to many people there that were for Hillary and now are for McCain. I passed out a few Puma business cards…many people were interested. I was watching FOX last night (yeah, I know) and saw Greta’s interview with Todd Palin. Seemed like a good guy. More interesting was a very short interview with the creator of a documentary about outstanding women across the world. It was done some months ago. The man seemed to be French. Said Palin was smart, focused, calm, very nice and exactly the same off-camera as she was on camera. He liked her a lot. For what it’s worth.

http://www.barbrastreisand.com/index.php?page=statements&n_id=828
In spite of what Babs and others think, Sarah Palin was not put on the ticket to court liberal Democrat women.
Palin was put on the ticket to accomplish two things:
1. To firm up and energize McCain’s support with 2 very important parts of the Republican base–the Evangelical Christians and the Pro-Life community.
The Evangelicals were not comfortable with Romney at all, a Romney VP nod would not have sent Evangelicals to the Obama ticket (because that’s not how voters behave) but instead would have made Evangelicals reluctant McCain supporters. Reluctant supporters don’t always make it to the polls. If the weather is bad, the baby is sick, or they get ‘busy’ they don’t vote. It’s not intentional behavior, but it’s what happens.
The Pro-Life wing of the GOP has grave concerns about McCain and embryonic stem cell testing, as well as his choice of potential Supreme Court judges. They are worried that McCain will put up one good nominee, who will get shot down by the Democrat-controlled Senate, and then McCain will nominate someone who can be confirmed, rather than continuing to force the Senate to reject excellent candidates.
Palin’s nomination gives the Pro-Life community the feeling that there will be someone with strong Pro-Life convictions whispering in McCain’s ear and helping to give him some backbone where those judicial nominations are concerned.
2. Excitement. If McCain hoped to step on Obama’s thunder, he had to name a running mate who would get people talking and just another white guy wasn’t going to do that.
McCain needed to secure his base and excite … he did both with a Palin pick. IF he gets some female democrat votes, … well, that’s icing on the cake.
Just my 1/2 cent.
@147, can you imagine that situation? Must have felt so surreal, like the end of the world. Homes totally disappearing. awful. swimming with lions…christ.
Nobama,,I was thinking that in some of these areas if we could have some puma’s & repubs standing outside of some of these places so that the elderly and others fealt safe to go in and out of polling places…we need to put people in the places that need it most!
While it is certainly true that there are some persons here in agreement that it was a bad idea for Hillary to bow out from speaking, there are many more of us that trust Hillary to do the right thing and will continue our unabashed support or her. It occurred to me that perhaps Hillary WANTED TO GIVE SARAH ALL THE ATTENTION.
Well, I think the Pumas have gotten the word out about the polls. The San Antonio office said they have had “many democrat and Independent folks” offering to help at the polls and with data!! They are not turning anyone away!! They need help with data entry bad!!
A request for a donation from the Democratic Party was preceded this morning by my listening to WTKK. My reply:
‘This is where Obama states that the American people are basically decent, just confused by listening to the ‘wrong’ radio stations and watching the ‘wrong’ television channels. And he will change all that for us, because only he can end our confusion.
I, for one, do not need or want someone else deciding which radio station to listen to and which television channel to watch.
And the fact that he refers to the American people as ‘THEY’ should make anyone wonder, who is HE?

#152 – lilibet – I was thinking the same thing. Hillary also knows that if she is there with Palin, the media focus will be on the two women being together at the same venue, not on the event itself. Perhaps she is just trying to bring the focus back to the event??? Food for thought. IMHO.
Thanks Texas, Murphy and Terrydo. I will sent out articles without worry.
The Democratic Party is UNFIT even to be majority in Congress. Fact of the matter is, the mind boggling collapse of Wallstreet has MORE to do with Democratic lead Congress than Bush itself. McCain supported a proposal in 2005 to oversee Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; what the democrats in the senate had done? KILLED IT!
And now the Democrats are busy LYING to the American “don’t blame us.” The crash of our housing has MORE to do with the Democratic Party than the GOP. We all have to face the truth instead of acting blind what the Democrats in Congress are doing. Being hoodwinked by party loyalty is not the way to live.

Oh I agree, Babs definitely needs a reality check about Obie.
“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don’t like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”
“Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.”

She also asked for an update on political news because she had now way to hear what was going on. I told her as much as I could. She said it could be up to 3 more weeks without electricity. She said they were doing okay but she missed the internet. She said to tell everyone hello and that she missed us.

Confirmed: Obama / Biden Demand that Iraq Not Negotiate w/Bush Admin on the Withdrawal of Troops
Washington Prowler
By The Prowler
Published 9/17/2008 12:08:47 AM
STANDING BY THE STORY
The Obama campaign spent more than five hours on Monday attempting to figure out the best refutation of the explosive New York Post report that quoted Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari as saying that Barack Obama during his July visit to Baghdad demanded that Iraq not negotiate with the Bush Administration on the withdrawal of American troops. Instead, he asked that they delay such negotiations until after the presidential handover at the end of January.
The three problems, according to campaign sources: The report was true, there were at least three other people in the room with Obama and Zebari to confirm the conversation, and there was concern that there were enough aggressive reporters based in Baghdad with the sources to confirm the conversation that to deny the comments would create a bigger problem.
Instead, Obama’s national security spokeswoman Wendy Morigi told reporters that Obama told the Iraqis that they should not rush through what she termed a “Strategic Framework Agreement” governing the future of U.S. forces until after President Bush left office. In other words, the Iraqis should not negotiate an American troop withdrawal.
According to a Senate staffer working for Sen. Joseph Biden, Biden himself got involved in the shaping of the statement. “The whole reason he’s on the ticket is the foreign policy insight,” explained the staffer………

#18Murphy: Neither was FDR nor was John Kennedy. One can be a member of an elite group, mades so by money, status, power, or world view. An elitist, to my mind, is someone who either in reality or in their imagination holds that “apart” one, by that difference, has the right and obligation to hold anyone not of that group with disdain, and thus, with control over those disdained.
Oops! How can I get the PUMA money to download?
I got a letter from Howie asking for money and I can hardly wait to comply…
My niece works at the MVR Club Restaurant in Youngstown, Ohio and John & Cindy McCain were there yesterday for Dinner. She was soooo excited, she told me that John McCain looked smaller than she thought and Cindy McCain she said was really pretty.
I asked what they had, and she told me they both had spaghetti and meatballs, also they insisted on paying their bill. This morning he was in Gustavus, Ohio which is only about12 miles from our business… this is farm country!! Back to work for me….

I believe we’ll need to wait for a while for all that to come out. She has options right now that will need some Party help and backing, including the possibility of being the Senate Majority Leader in 2009. She’ll likely have to bite her tongue for some time to come.

kat in your hat, that was a very interesting and true commentary.
The many Face Masks of an empty Obama is a good symbol of Obama’s many personas.
Oblow supporters think “elitist” means “wealthy.”
They actually have no idea.
Or, like Murphy says “elite” and “elitist” are very two very different things.

Elitism to me is an attitude, and has got nothing to do with real status or money, or how many homes one has. It’s a general attitude that “I know what’s best for you because I know more then you.” It’s offensive, even to some well-to-do’s who have enough common sense to realize that most people in this country, no matter their educatoin level or monetary status actually have their own sense of what is best for them and their families. It’s generally failing to realize that if you give an American the right tools and then get out of his/her way – they’ll get-r-done in their own best interest.
Just my humble opinion.

Good afternoon everyone.
I have to say I am a little upset with Hillary for opting out of the event.
I sure hope she knows what she is doing.
Just in:
Second NETWORK interview of Sarah Palin granted to Katie Curic.
Also, I hear Ms. Palin will be on Hannity and Colmes tonight on the Fox channel. This will actually be her second interview to the media in general. This is the one that should be more fair and balanced.

She is a pretty wise woman. The way BOBO has forced himself into politics is quite messy; and she knows that things fall by their own weight.
Just like a good PUMA biting time for a good catch.

I agree that if her goal is her senate position the she is doing the right thing. I am so glad that she hasn’t joined in on the personal smear campaign. As always she is staying professional and classy. I hope when this is over that she will join Palin in a fight for women’s rights. They can both be proud that they made history this year for women all over.
I wonder when, or make that IF, NBC will ever get an interview with Ms. Palin.
Personally I don’t think they deserve the ratings she’ll bring in.

Chavez and Putin is going to have a joint military exercise which is very alarming. The pentagon is paying a close watch on this. USA import a lot of our oil from Venezuela, European countries are importing their oil from Russia. Putin informed European countries like Poland and Germany he’s going to shutdown oil pipelines going to their country.
The Democratic lead Congress is NOT paying attention by the move of Venezuela and Russia. The oil drilling bill passed by Congress yesterday is USELESS, they’re enabling Russia and Venezuela.
A lot of you here don’t want offshore drilling, then be ready to send your sons and daughters to go to war if this country goes to war because of oil. I guess you don’t mind few young Americans to die to feed your vehicles, electricity and your house warm during winter time. Sorry to be brutally honest folks, but it is what it is! . We need first to correct incentives for executives, reducing the scope for conflicts of interest and improving shareholder information about dilution in share value as a result of stock options. We should mitigate the incentives for excessive risk-taking and the short-term focus that has so long prevailed, for instance, by requiring bonuses to be paid on the basis of, say, five-year returns, rather than annual returns.
2. Secondly, we need to create a financial product safety commission, to make sure that products bought and sold by banks, pension funds, etc. are safe for “human consumption.” Consenting adults should be given great freedom to do whatever they want, but that does not mean they should gamble with other people’s money. Some may worry that this may stifle innovation. But that may be a good thing considering the kind of innovation we had — attempting to subvert accounting and regulations. What we need is more innovation addressing the needs of ordinary Americans, so they can stay in their homes when economic conditions change.
3. We need to create a financial systems stability commission to take an overview of the entire financial system, recognizing the interrelations among the various parts, and to prevent the excessive systemic leveraging that we have just experienced.
4. We need to impose other regulations to improve the safety and soundness of our financial system, such as “speed bumps” to limit borrowing. Historically, rapid expansion of lending has been responsible for a large fraction of crises and this crisis is no exception.
5. We need better consumer protection laws, including laws that prevent predatory lending.
6. We need better competition laws. The financial institutions have been able to prey on consumers through credit cards partly because of the absence of competition. But even more importantly, we should not be in situations where a firm is “too big to fail.” If it is that big, it should be broken up.

It would be a clear violation of The Logan Act:
The Logan Act (18 U.S.C.A. § 953 [1948]) is a single federal statute making it a crime for a citizen to confer with foreign governments against the interests of the United States. Specifically, it prohibits citizens from negotiating with other nations on behalf of the United States without authorization.

You have to realize who is really behind all of these major institutions going under. It is the big investors like Warren Buffett, George Soros, etc. They are playing with our lives, jobs, the economy, and they don’t give a damn who it hurts. They are bored, it’s an election year, they are causing the majority of these problems. It’s also the ones that took the majority of donations, loans, bennies, etc., but yet tell “us” how bad the companies are, etc. It’s a game, a very dangerous game!!

McCain was in Florida Monday at the Continental Hotel where he raised 5 million
Think about how much has been wasted on getting the One in as president:
1 – One of the best people that could get America out of all these problems was slottered by her own party and her media.
2- All the money that was wasted on buying off superdelegates, MileHigh field and glitz, corporations, and the liberal media. And all the other payoffs we don’t know about. (This money could have helped America get out of debt)
3- Distroying one person one vote, democracy.
4- Bringing out the idea of a woman’s value in our society no matter how intelligent, good or worthy she is. Her aging makes her more worthless. (IE: women are only useful to look at and use)
5- Working American’s are only to be used for their tax money and manipulated for most of their votes.
How could one person running for President bring out the worst problems of our society? Maybe this is a wakeup call from the rest of the world to us, to see what it is they hate most about American society.
Am I angry, H@ll yes! Am I sick of what my party and more than half of it’s followers are allowing…H@ll yes!
Can PUMAs fix these problems alone? I don’t think so. Maybe this is one of those huge problems that things have to hit rock bottom before enough people stand up and say, ENOUGH!

Oil was not discovered in Alaska til the 70’s, the real reason Alaska was bought its for national security. It the closest state of the Union to Asia, next door neighbor is Russia. The Aleutian chain is only a few minutes away from Russia, our defense shield is located there. The National Guard in Alaska is on 24 hours alert even before 9/11. The Coast Guard is ALWAYS on patrol in Alaska. These two groups are the first defense in case of invasion from Russia. Alaskans are heavily armed, there’s a reason for that. In case of invasion, they’ll face the russkies before people from lower 48 do. During World War II, the japanese reached Alaska but they died, all of them. ALACAN highway was built in a hurry to bring supply to Alaska because USA knew Japan might plan have another attack against USA through the “Last Frontier”. Imperial Japan have done that, they’ve sent expeditionary team in Alaska, but they were not ready for the harsh weather, they all froze to death.

#284 mick Ok thank you Mick for clearing that up for me I was thinking why wouldn’t it have been reported on tv and also that would have been pretty bad for him to say things about BO yesterday if he just did it Monday..
#265 Asian4Hillary why the H*LL isn’t the media reporting this all I heard is fox mentioned it twice and all they said was we asked the BO campaign and they denied it then I heard McCain’s campaign demanding answers from BO if it’s true..??? THis is a bunch of crap

No Oil for Blood
Thanks to three American senators (Schumer. Kerry and McCaskill), China will be pumping Iraqi oil.
by Frederick W. Kagan
09/16/2008 3:15:00 PM
This morning, I had the honor of testifying before the House Budget Committee on the situation in Iraq. The discussion was polite and civilized, and was a reminder that even now it is possible for people who disagree about what to do in Iraq to argue without raised voices and disagreeable language (apart from the Code Pink women, yelling for those who think that shouting opponents down is preferable to arguing with them). Congressman Brian Baird once again demonstrated that it is possible even for those who bitterly opposed the war to recognize the importance of doing the right thing now–as well as the possibility of crossing the Republican-Democrat sectarian divide on this issue. One question came up repeatedly in the hearing that deserves more of an answer than it got, however: Why, after all the assistance we’ve given to Iraq over the past five years, was the first major Iraqi oil deal signed with China and not with an American or even a western company? The answer is, in part, because three Democratic senators intervened in Iraqi domestic politics earlier this year to prevent Iraq from signing short-term agreements with Exxon Mobil, Shell, Total, Chevron, and BP.
The Iraqi government was poised to sign no-bid contracts with those firms this summer to help make immediate and needed improvements in Iraq’s oil infrastructure. The result would have been significant foreign investment in Iraq, an expansion of Iraqi government revenues, and an increase in the global supply of oil. One would have thought that leading Democratic senators who claim to be interested in finding other sources of funding to replace American dollars in Iraq, in helping Iraq spend its own money on its own people, and in lowering the price of gasoline for American citizens, would have been all for it. Instead, Senators Chuck Schumer, John Kerry, and Claire McCaskill wrote a letter to Secretary of State Rice asking her “to persuade the GOI [Government of Iraq] to refrain from signing contracts with multinational oil companies until a hydrocarbon law is in effect in Iraq.” The Bush administration wisely refused to do so, but the resulting media hooraw in Iraq led to the cancellation of the contracts, and helps to explain why Iraq is doing oil deals instead with China.
Senators Schumer, McCaskill, and Kerry claimed to be acting from the purest of motives: “It is our fear that this action by the Iraqi government could further deepen political tensions in Iraq and put our service members in even great danger.” For that reason, presumably, Schumer went so far as to ask the senior vice president of Exxon “if his company would agree to wait until the GOI produced a fair, equitable, and transparent hydrocarbon revenue sharing law before it signed any long-term agreement with the GOI.” Exxon naturally refused, but Schumer managed to get the deal killed anyway. But the ostensible premise of the senators’ objections was false–Iraq may not have a hydrocarbons law, but the central government has been sharing oil revenues equitably and there is no reason at all to imagine that signing the deals would have generated increased violence (and this was certainly not the view of American civilian and military officials on the ground in Iraq at the time). It is certain that killing the deals has delayed the maturation of Iraq’s oil industry without producing the desired hydrocarbons legislation.
Nor is it entirely clear what the senators’ motivations were. Their release (available along with their letter to Secretary Rice at the New York Observer quoted Senator McCaskill as follows: “‘It’s bad enough that we have no-bid contracts being awarded for work in Iraq. It’s bad enough that the big oil companies continue to receive government handouts while they post record breaking profits. But now the most profitable companies in the universe–America’s biggest oil companies–stand to reap the rewards of this no-bid contract on top of it all,’ McCaskill said. ‘It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to connect these dots–big oil is running Washington and now they’re running Baghdad. There is no reason under the sun not to halt these agreements until we get revenue sharing in place,’ McCaskill said.” So was this about what’s best for Iraq and American interests there or about nailing “big oil” in an election year?
Either way, like Barack Obama’s asking the Iraqi foreign minister to hold off on a strategic framework agreement until after the American election, it was nothing but harmful to American interests and our prospects in Iraq.

I have thought the same thing for a long time. We need to get our message on the air. TV ads are a lot more powerful than blogs. You can reach so many more people. The people in my small town only listen to the news. Many of them don’t own computers. They have no idea the things Oboy has done.
302, DWP, lol no I wish. But it won’t cost that much, depending on the market that you buy in.

What I have in mind is somewhat like a bulletin board: Any PUMA who is concerned about being hassled could put their PUMA name and city on the list; volunteer escorts could then see which city best fit their circumstances and sign up to escort the concerned PUMAs in that city.
You know, now that I think about it, this might be something the aMcCain GOTV operation could consider – a ride to the polls with some muscle.
If we got the guys from Rolling Thunder involved those Obama weenies would pee in their pants (sorry for the indelicacy but 1gypsy4mc started it).
#277 Ę
that’s what I’m talking about if we can organize the puma’s across the country we could place ourselves outside of polling places ,,,know for sure that BO will have his bots out to intimadate people tring to vote..we need to have a plan…for sure in states that are close,we can not let are guard down..

If you truely care about America you will not vote for Obama. Please look at the other candidates websites and read their views on the issues before casting your vote. Do not listen to everything you hear on Tv because it is biased and they don’t tell you everything. Obama is all talk and will not help our country and if anything he will destroy it.
Obama must go down! The very thought of him in the
white house with all his thugs makes me sick!!!
#289BillieJoe: We are at rock bottom. Anything after this is the demise of this country. Enough is already Enough. If these people have, in fact, figured out how to win through manipulation of electronic voting machines, paperless voting booths, et al, then, we are already in the demise. We are tired and we ARENOT TIRED. We must continue to attack from as many angles as possible. We must do this now, tomorrow, and every day and night until election day.
And if he wins, then the right to bear arms will be the single most important right not yet taken from us.
I have said more than once here that this cause is the cause of our lifetime, as important, and as defining as the citizen response to Dec 7,1941. We will not waver.
We will not stop. We will prevail for if we do not we will be enslaved. And if that occurs, I will stand to my last dying breath against those who enslave, as surely as I know my name, my heritage, and my heart…Onward!
The upside to the China – Iraq oil deal is if things get tense with Iran there is at least a partial replacement for the oil China currently gets from Iran.
#282 dreffein
It will be hard for me to vote republican, but McCain is so much better than Obama. Obama with his ties to terrorists and big oil and lobbyists isn’t going to help our country. He only wants to help himself. Now he has violated the Logan Act. Is this really someone that you want for President?
Some predict there will be huge problems with the economy if BO gets elected….

I have to admit that I read last week’s in-depth profile of Cindy McCain in the New Yorker and I was rather troubled.
Although she seems like a very independent and can-do woman, as well as being clearly committed to charitable giving, the way she supposedly has treated her sisters is deeply wrong in my personal opinion.
The article itself was fair and balanced in my opinion, so I dont think it was a hit job. But I would like to know more about why it is that Cindy has ALWAYS referred to herself as an only child and if she has in fact kept virtually ALL of her parents’ Half-BILLION dollar inheritance to herself.
The cynical side of me also says that whether I support her choice to keep her sisters out of the inheritance, it is STILL a bad political move.
anyway — it doesnt much matter because she’s not running for office, he is, and either way, a Puma PAC vote for McCain is a Protest Vote not an endorsement. Just sharing.
here’s the link to the article if anyone is interested (it’s a good read). Lately the New Yorker has been less kool-aid drenched and therefore safer again for public consumption.

Asian, thanks for the history review, I used to like history a lot. I remember learning all that about Alaska, and one of my best friends lives in Fairbanks so I have a tiny bit of insight into the way of life there as well.
I really do remember learning that Alaska became a state because of its energy. Either the history book was wrong or my teacher, but that’s what I was taught, lol. Though it’s hard to imagine that the USA figured out Alaska had one of the highest sources of energy in the world only a decade or so after it was bought from Russia.
Also, wiki:
“The area that became Alaska was purchased from the Russian Empire after Congress concluded its resources could be vitally important to the nation’s future growth.”

I think newspaper inserts would be wonderful, but wouldn’t it be really difficult to try and get them to all the newspapers. I’m sure we could hit all the big ones, but no one I know buys those. People around here just read their home-town paper.
Sorry for being difficult, but everywhere I go there are Oboy signs. I am constantly sending people I know articles and telling them what I know, but they act like I am crazy. They listen to the MSM and it drives me insane.

You’re not being difficult. We’re brainstorming Good point about the newspapers.
Maybe a single sheet mailing through the post office like the rest of the junk mail we get?
323, DWP, I just looked up the cost of running an ad for one month on Cable TV in, for example, Ohio, a Clinton Hotbed. Starting from October 6 to November 3rd (right before election day) it would cost $21,000. That is a good price. The ad would be on Bravo, CNN, Headline News, Fox News, CNBC, FX, Home and Garden, Lifetime, TNT, USA, Tru TV, MSNBC, TV Land and a couple of others. So it can be affordable if you go to the right places.

BILLIEJO – I have tried to post on the McCain site the following information but I guess my computers browser is as old as I am – will not let me do it – several people thought last night that Scarlets information was critical for the Republicans to know – and since you advised you have posted other things on their site would you be so kind to do this one as well – pretty please with sugar on it???? Besides – it would be nice to know that the Republicans are doing something – anything – like we Pumas are…
Obama supporters drown out media messages opposing their candidate
(Chicago Tribune (KRT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Much of Barack
Obama’s political success can be traced to a database listing contact
information for millions of people, a tool that has proven invaluable
in raising record sums of money and organizing a national volunteer
network.
Now Obama’s presidential campaign is increasingly using the list to
beat back media messages it does not like, calling on supporters to
flood radio and television stations when opponents run anti-Obama ads
or appear on talk shows.
It did so as recently as Monday night when it orchestrated a massive
stream of complaints on the phone lines of Tribune Company-owned WGN
in Chicago when the radio station hosted author David Freddoso, who
has written a controversial book about the Illinois Democrat.
Called the Obama Action Wire, the latest use of the database is
proving yet another new and potentially powerful tactic in the closing
weeks of a campaign that has already been dominated by Internet-based
messages and media.

I doubt we had a clue about Alaska’s energy resources when it became a state. But, I remember that when Alaska was originally acquired by the US it was mocked.
William Seward was Lincoln’s and Johnson’s Secretary of State. Seward negotiated a deal with Russia to buy Alaska from them (it was theirs at the time) for the whopping sum of $7.2 million in 1867. The press and Seward’s critics dubbed Alaska as “Seward’s folly”, and ridiculed the deal without mercy.
Good thing we have leaders that can see further than their nose on their faces.

How come PUMAs aren’t running advertisements? We should be running ads in some of the swing states. For a few years during the ’90s I was the single parent coordinator for my church. We have a large outreach to folks who have been divorced or are in the throes of one. Our singles group generally runs 300-400 members, with “Divorce Adjustment Workshops” for adults, teens and elementary school aged kids.
I remember one spring we were having a picnic, and I was getting to know a couple of women newcomers and their kids. One of the little girls was about 3 or 4, blonde, cute as a button, sitting on the blanket wearing these heart-shaped sunglasses. Her mom told me her husband had bugged out to Houston, and was laying low. Looking at that little girl, my heart ached. I just could not get my mind around how anyone could abandon her, no matter how tough it got.
After a few years I learned that many men are tough in the things they choose – sports, pain, endurance, physical stuff. But confronted with an emotional mess, they are the worst kind of coward. Single moms are the most courageous people I’ve even encountered – yes, even more than our brave troops, because the single mom has to keep it up for months, even years.
The opposite side of the coin is those fathers who stuck around and did their best to meet their responsibilities. I saw too many women try to punish their ex with their kids – playing games with visitation, bad-mouthing and lying about the father, etc.
Bottom line: Better know who you’re marrying beforehand.
353 Billie Jo, in my earlier post I said that I found to advertise in a hotbed Hillary state like Ohio (at least part of it) would only be $21,000 and the ad would be everywhere, so cost and value is counted.
Arianna Huffington is dumber than a turd! McCain can raise campaign funds but NOT for him, only for RNC. He made a commitment of 5 fund raising events for the RNC.
NObama is totally a different matter, he must raise $100 million a MONTH all the way to October. The DNC is FLAT BROKE! NObama made DNC a promise he will raise the money if he’s the nominee. A day or so ago Harry Reid asked NObama if he could give $10 million to help increase numbers of Democrats in the senate, NObama told Reid, NO. The Democratic Party is in TROUBLE……..BIG TROUBLE!
I am sick of fighting with Obama lovers, I keep having to lower my standards, they attack without any basis of the issues, here is what I wrote on a post attacking Sarah Palin for hunting!
I am just astonished on the people who are on Sarah Palin for hunting…
WHICH of you eat a complete vegan diet? DID you know that cattle are slaughtered by a dull bolt being driven into their skull while they stand in a hold gate? Did you know that pigs are strung up by their hindquarters and their throats slashed? AND a shotgun is inhumane? Let me tell you, wolves are killed in Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and most states to keep the numbers down, they attack livestock, and even children, did you know that alligators are killed in Florida because otherwise they would multiple like rodents….
AND the CHINESE and VIETNAMESE eat DOGS…yes, our little furbabies are on the menu! You can see footage of Chinese clubbing dogs to death for the menu during the Olympics, these are served in Native restaurants there in China.
The French and British eat horse…
SO, now Sarah Palin looks so barbaric! Give me a break….I live in Texas, we hunt, we also like steak…big deal….IF there were NO HUNTERS animal species would starve and be over populated, which is a worse death to starve or be shot? I am also AMERICAN INDIAN this is my country you people are fighting over! THIS is my ancestors land before the Europeans or Africans got on it! WE survived and lived on the Buffalo….the white man came along and killed the Buffalo just for sport. The PALINS eat ELK, and deer, and fish….WHICH of you eat SALMON, that is caught mostly in Alaska!
KILLING babies all the way up till their due dates is ACCEPTABLE, that is a CHOICE….who gives that baby a choice? At least a deer or Elk can run, they have some decision…the baby gets NONE….
All of you in your judgement of Palin for being a mother to a Downs baby, for being a MOTHER period, or for her daughter taking responsibility for her pregnancy ( which includes KEEPING not just KILLING a baby) ought to re examine what you are saying….IF you eat any MEAT or ANY cheese or EGGS you contribute DAILY to the slaughter of an animal…..
IF we did not kill or eat any animals wild or domestic we would be over run with animals….
Rabbits breed like every 21 days….and have litters as big as 12…
NONE of you can bring Obama’s platform on the economy forward because he doesn’t have one except to raise all taxes across the board….
ASK yourself while you are talking about the middle class, WHO gets the blunt of a tax increase when CORPORATIONS are overtaxed? GUESS WHAT? Jobs are cut, pensions cut, retirement suspended, and wages dropped for the CORPORATIONS to HANDLE the BURDEN of higher taxation! STORES are closed, people laid off! WALMART is a perfect example, they have already said that IF Obama’s tax increases are passed they will have to cut benefits and pay scale and jobs, and raise prices to compensate, its SIMPLE economics….

THINK….IF no animal died right now from this point forward what would happen?
Go to Cuba and see all the poor diseased dogs and cats roaming the streets, you would want them put to sleep if you saw that, see a herd of deer starving, the young dying because their is not enough food to support the herd, you would then KNOW that nature HAS a BALANCE and that includes hunting for food and sport!

Obama gains an edge
September 17, 2008The Sept. 14-16 Gallup Poll Daily tracking update shows Barack Obama with 47% support among registered voters, and John McCain with 45%; although not a statistically significant lead for Obama, this marks the first time since the week of the Republican National Convention that McCain has not held at least a slight edge.More …
Oops that didn’t work, sorry still trying to learn how to post a link….
RE: ADS, THE MEDIA, THE SWING STATES (Oh Boy!)
1. I think it will all boil down the swing states.
2. I think it will all come down to independents and Dems still sitting on the fence. The challenge there is knowing who those folks are, but there are probably ways to to some targeted things in terms of analysis of demographics, swing state areas, etc.
3. Perhaps now is a good time to consider partnering up with The Denver Group re: ads since that’s been their primary tactic since their inception. Why reinvent the wheel or duplicate efforts. Perhaps a good juncture to see what they have planned and in the works.
4. I’d forget about trying to convince any Obama supporter to feel otherwise. It seemed impossible during the primaries when the other choice (Clinton) was at least in the same party. Now it’s a million times harder cause Obama’s been nominated and those who support him automatically feel like the only other choice is McCain, which they surely aren’t going to go for.
Just a few thoughts….

TO ANYONE CONTACTING ALICE GERMOND AND/OR STATE DNC RE: CONVENTION TALLIES
I’d recommend contacting the Obama campaign as well with any e-mails or faxes you’re sending with these requests for numbers. I say this because:
1. The Obama campaign and the DNC are just about one and the same entity at this point.
2. Obama spoke early on in the primaries about his desire to make government more transparent. Well, he can start now and cut through the red tape run around that we’ve all been getting and assist in making the numbers “transparent”!
#346 bobram:
the interesting one is against Jerome Corsi author of The Obama Nation. They are asking the Nobama supporters to send emails critical of this book. Mr. Corsi said he will stand behind that book and every note in it. The book proves one thing Nobama will distort the truth or out and out lie to serve his purpose and make him look good !

Interesting perspective from a UK news source, calling Joe Biden a “Hollywood sock-puppet”. Wonder if Obama’s selection of Biden was influenced by the Hollywood support that Biden garnered.

“Obama picks Hollywood sock-puppet for running mate
Anti-pirate, anti-privacy, anti-encryption, not too sure about net neutrality.
By Nick Farrell: Monday, 25 August 2008, 10:15 AM
BARACK OBAMA has chosen one of the most rabid pro-music and film industry senators in the business to be his running mate in the forthcoming presidential elections.
Joe Biden has been selected as Obama’s choice for vice presidential candidate over the weekend.
While his boss might have glowing credentials on technology, Biden has spent most of his career allied with the FBI and copyright holders. He ranks toward the bottom of CNET’s Technology Voters’ Guide, and has come up with some of the worst anti-privacy legislation.
Biden has been one of Hollywood and the recording industry’s biggest fans and has been working to expand copyright laws. In 2002 he tried to make it a felony to trick certain types of devices into playing unauthorized music or executing unapproved computer programs. The law was caned by almost every technology outfit in the land and was quietly dropped.
Later he wrote to the Justice Department demanding that it use taxpayer money to do the work of the RIAA and MPAA to drag P2P users into court. Fortunately this was ignored by the DoJ.
Last year, Biden sponsored an RIAA-backed bill aimed at restricting Americans’ ability to record and play back individual songs from satellite and Internet radio services. This was in support of his chums at the RIAA who were suing satellite radio companies at the time.
Biden has refused to answer questions on technology. This might have something to do with the fact he supports Internet taxes and censoring libraries and schools, which is a wee bit different from Obama’s official stance.
He has also sponsored the anti-privacy Violent Crime Control Act which was anti-encryption and demanded users turn over encryption keys to the government. It was a reaction to this bill, which failed, which lead to the creation of PGP.
In 2001 he took the FBI’s stance during the debates on the Patriot Act although this changed last year when Democrats wanted to embarrass President Bush over warrantless wiretapping. At the time his conversion on the road to Damascus was seen as trying to court liberals in his party at a point where he was thinking of running for President himself.
He seemed to go back to his own ways recently when he demanded the government spend $1 billion in US tax dollars so police can monitor peer-to-peer networks for illegal activity.
As far as Net neutrality is concerned, Biden has stood back claiming it was not necessary to have laws to protect it.
Fortunately the history of US Vice-presidents usually indicates that they are not there to actually do anything unless the President is shot, or caught assisting in a burglary. “
Asian4Hillary – I WATCH all polls – as I am a statistican or was by trade – and especially when one candidate is on top for a great period of time and then it flip flops and then goes back again – I try to analyze what made the flip flop – the economy – statements made to the press – etc.

I happen to agree with you.
oh, that reminds me — someone in comments (I’m sorry I can’t remember who) asked me if I have something against vegetarians bc I’ve made at least 2 snarky references to vegetarianism recently.
I can see why you might feel that way, and I’m sorry for lazy writing.
I love vegetarians. My 16-year old is a committed vegetarian and I am an imperfect one.
I absolutely loathe industrial agriculture, which I believe has contributed to the rise in breast cancer and other mysterious illnesses, as well as childhood obesity and diabetes.
I hate how nitrogen and other chemicals are DESTROYING our land and putting our farmers in mortal danger.
I hate that only upper middle class people can AFFORD to buy safe and healthy and nutritious low-fat food.
I also am a dabbler in Buddhism (nope, I also dont have anything against dabblers — I’m a dabbler at lots of things) and am sickened by the animal cruelty inherent in industrial agriculture.

I’m a democrat, and I work in an environmental field, and I get it. I say drill, drill, drill. It’s not going to alter gas prices or anything like that, but it sure as heck is going to make us less dependant on foreign oil and all the potential consequences that go along with that dependency. To just keep talking about it or debating about it is getting nothing done and threatenting our national security AND our economy more and more every day. We can do it cleanly, actually more cleanly then pumping it into a tanker and shipping it across the oceans. The risks of spills froim platforms are minute compared to the risks of one of those tankers cracking open. And the process is so very highly regulated now. Does everyone realize what would happen to our nation if one of those ‘major’ sources of oil suddenly stopped? Everything, and I mean everything that we produce nowadays uses oil. We need to drill AND get other sources like wind, solar, and others moving in the pipeline. Use our OWN resources. The time for debating this issue has long since passed. We’ve been debating it for what 30-40 years now. No more talk – we need action now.
bobram – in my view the polls are settling down to the same baseline they were before both conventions. i expect obama will continue to have a slight edge over mc cain, if not more so now due to what’s going on in the economy and mc cain’s less than stellar ability to address it. add to that, the media’s vetting of palin which hasn’t been pretty, and you’ve got an equation for obama pulling this out. not a big win, but he only needs to hit 270, and as of a few days ago, he was awfully close. the swing states hold all the power.
just my perspective.
“24% of those who backed Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary now support John McCain, up from 14% on August 26.” This statistic, buried deep within Quinnipiac University polling out of Florida is a reversal of the trend that we’ve been seeing all summer.

BILLIEJO – I have tried to post on the McCain site the following information but I guess my computers browser is as old as I am – will not let me do it
——-
I actually don’t put most of these things on the McCain website I put them on the Drudge Report!
http://www.drudgereport.com/
It is a right winged website that you can copy and paste into a box and don’t need to worry about putting in all your contact info first. I see many of the things that have been passed on the blogs have made it on their site. Many Repubs look at this site, and it is getting better at covering the election and less info then before the election of the star bs.
I would like to remind PUMAs that our getting more and more informed is great, but we also need to inform people that are not PUMAs, we can not do this alone. Find one or a few sites you can post factual articles on and keep it up. We are fighting the liberal news blackouts and this is one way to at least reach others.
I am posting this important article and also the link to what is on BO’s site.
Anna7000 – you are absolutely right on – thats why I have been watching ALL polls and expected exactly the same – and the key will be certain states – I am compiling a listing hopefully will be done by tomorrow or Friday at the latest regarding the States that Obomi HAS to lose – those will be the ones we need to put our attention to newspapers and other sources – at this moment – Obomi has 4 States in his pocket that have good amount of electoral votes – most of his states are smaller ones like RI, VT, DE etc – New York, California, Illinois and Massachusetts has helped him considerably. More on this later.

I personally support drilling wherever it is safe and feasible. While Congress is not allowing drilling where the oil and natural gas is, they are forcing companies to drill in places that pits the interests of the caribou with the health and safety of your neighbors. Texas is a good example.
Here in Texas, you do not necessarily own the space beneath your home. Those mineral rights are bought and sold separately. And Texas has very favorable laws for the oil and gas industry. If someone owns the mineral rights beneath your home, you cannot do much to stop them from getting it out.
A lot of land here in Texas could have been bought for a song 10 years ago. Since that time the population has grown and land that was once pasture is now residential.
North Texas reportedly sits on a large deposit of gas called the Barnett Shale. And gas companies are putting wells in anywhere they can. There is now active drilling going on in many residential areas, which is pretty much killing property values. The drilling uses enormous quantities of water which is in short supply already. And the extraction process brings up more than just gas – at the depths they are going, there are sizeable deposits of radioactive materials like radium. And salt. So they use up the water and expose residents to radioactive materials, heavy metals and saturate the topsoil with salt.
We are looking at that issue here, and are not happy about it. Some of these gas wells are going right next to public schools (or under them). A gas explosion from a well pretty much levels everything within a quarter mile.
So, if I’m looking at the possibility of giving a caribou gas, versus having our kids subjected to the risk of explosion or radioactive exposure, I am inclined to let the caribou fart a little more.
No one is paying much attention to this, because it is not a national issue. That, and the fact that these gas companies are throwing money around faster than an Obama advisor gets tossed under a bus.
Sorry for the rant.

INTERESTING TAKE ON THE STATE OF THE RACE
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/09/what_states_are_really_in_play.html
The author is the chief political correspondent for the American Thinker, which is an extraordinarily conservative publication. The piece has been printed on the Real Clear Politics site. However, he writes with honesty and fairness and I’ve read pieces he’s written that were very blunt in their assessment of the situation, even if it meant painting a less-than-rosey picture for his candidate(s).
Howard Dean is, as we speak, working the halls and backrooms and streets of Washington DC to ensure that he remains in power after this election. DNC leadership politicking is happening NOW. And just like the Kerry debacle did not bring good leadership, neither will a defeat or lame victory necessarily get Dean out.
Democrats For Principle Before Party wants to run an ad ASAP targeted at Washington DC insiders specifically addressing the need to clean house. But we must raise at least $3500 to do it. I’m sorry to be so blunt about money and I know there are a million causes and candidates seeking everybody’s. But if every PUMA pac person gave 5 dollars toward the new ad we’d be a long way to being able to run it. Marc Rubin and I have collaborated on the ad – just as we did on all The Denver Group ads, including the FDR one, which helped get national attention focused on putting Senator Clinton’s name in nomination. So we have a bit of a track record. But of course Dean, Pelosi, etc. made sure that the roll call was a sham, and now we need to get them to release their grip on the Democratic Party.

I finally just read this entire article and I am blown away by it. The NY Post writer, Amir Teheri has been getting death threats, and he says so at the end of the article, and he really makes his case against Obama and how he tried to stall withdrawal of GIs in Iraq–how he negotiated for our country and the war behind Bush’s back. He even says that lately Obama has been saying he wants to do exactly what we have been doing in Iraq for 5 years, but wants to get the kudos for all the hard work if he wins the WH. He also brings up how Biden wanted to carve Iraq into three sections and separate people by ethnicity/ religion. (Horrific idea, and Iraq is against it.)

Sebelius: Obama’s race ‘may be a factor’
By John Deeth 9/16/08 8:31 PM
IOWA CITY — Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius publicly considered the possibility that Sen. Barack Obama’s race might be a factor in this year’s presidential election during an appearance here Tuesday.
“Have any of you noticed that Barack Obama is part African-American?” Sebelius asked in response to a question about why the election is so close. “That may be a factor. All the code language, all that doesn’t show up in the polls. And that may be a factor for some people.”
http://iowaindependent.com/5627/sebelius-obamas-race-may-be-a-factor
Everyone seems to think Hillary pulled out of the rally, but maybe just maybe she was forced out of it by Obama and the dnc.
I think that is the likely scenario. Obama and his minions know she will not attack Palin, nor is it the place to do so, but by being at the same event and not railing against her it may look to her supporters that she is giving Palin the nod. Just my opinion……
And Obama cannot control her as he wishes in public when he is not in attendance, This is about Obama, not Hillary being in the same place as Palin.

I have a question for you…Do you believe the Bradley effect is true? If so, could it be worse for Obama when the polls show a dead heat?
Just part of one of many articles I saw….
“…But the way Obama lost California raises the specter of the dreaded Bradley Effect.
Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, an African-American Democrat, in 1982 unexpectedly lost his candidacy for governor of California. His defeat followed voters telling pollsters they prefer a black candidate and then voting the other way. In California’s primary last Tuesday, Obama lost by a landslide 10 percentage points after a late survey showed him ahead by 13 points and other polls gave him a smaller lead.
Was this presumed 20-point reversal caused by the Bradley Effect, which has worried Democratic leaders about Obama since he became an obstacle to Hillary Clinton’s majestic procession to the Oval Office? ”

“The candidate who said those words the night he won the Iowa caucuses did pretty well. But whatever the outcome of this presidential election, that candidate is no longer in the race.”
(michaelgerson@cfr.org)
Well, yes, the person who could articulate the Democratic position and had some answers about how problems could be solved is no longer in the race; she somehow lost!!!
Murphy,
It seems that Cindy McCain was raised as an only child. Her father supported his x wife and daughter but stopped benefits in his will at the time of his death. Apparently he thought of Cindy as his only child. Cindy’s mom had a 10 year old child from a previous marriage when she married Cindy’s father. The article didn’t mention much about her so she may not have had much of a relationship with Cindy and her father or maybe she was raised by her biological father. Anyway I think that explains why Cindy says she was an only child. My son’s father had children by other mothers but my son was not raised with them and considers himself an only child too since he was raised alone by me. Anyway here is the article where I got my information:

But Obama’s staff said McCain was on shaky ground, as he was flush with more than five million dollars after his own big fundraising event in Miami late Monday.
“I don’t know who showed up in Florida where he raised five million dollars, but my guess is that it wasn’t a lot of nurses, firefighters and police officers,” Obama’s top strategist David Axelrod told reporters.
Senator McCain raised an impressive 5.1 million dollars at his own fundraising dinner late Monday in Florida, the Republican’s campaign said

Tonight, Sen. John McCain spoke for 10 minutes at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami to a small crowd of people, who were a little less rich by the end of the session.
It was, of course, a presidential campaign fundraiser, this time for the Republican Party.
The attendees, who dined buffet style because there were only a few tables scattered around, had each paid $50,000 to be there, according to the pool reporter’s notes.

McCain takes lead in Hominid simulations
http://edgeoforever.wordpress.com/2008/09/17/mccain-takes-lead-in-hominid-elections-simulations/
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.
The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.
Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.
In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don’t like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”
Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

I had the pleasure of stuffing an envelope for Obama this AM, have another one for the DNC to go. Funny thing, I noticed that the envelopes they are sending out now are quite a bit smaller than they used to be. The sides of the envelopes are sealed on the inside so that there is just about room for a check. (never mind the people, just get their checks)

I’m with Sarah Palin on this — Hillary “showed a lot of grit and class with all that they threw at her.”
Did anyone see the VIEW on ABC when John and Cindy McCain were on the show a few days ago? I watched and was shocked at the total disrespect those women showed the McCains. I wanted to vomit at the outrage. Guess Cindy McCain was as disgusted as I was. Here is an article and video on what Cindy said:

Someone please tell me… if he were to be elected where in the world is Obama going to get the money for universal health care, early education or clean energy.
The federal government has committed hundreds of billions of dollars this year to stimulate the economy, rescue failing Bear Stearns Cos. and American International Group Inc., and take over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It may extend hundreds of billions more to buy distressed mortgage debt, prop up Detroit automakers and stave off recession.
Those expenses, on top of a 2009 budget deficit projected to approach $500 billion, will make it hard for Obama.
As for McCain he would also find it extremely difficult to cut taxes by $3.3 trillion over eight years.
I don’t know about you Democrats, but between the two candidates and their inevitable broken promises to come I can live and forgive the one who can’t deliver on tax cuts.

One with your e-mail that Mama and Murphy have to copy from and the other with the Hotmail account open to paste into.
MJT – If you go to the Action Center and look under “Boycotts” you’ll see a list of advertisers for “The View” if you want to write to any or all of them regarding your perspective about the show. I’d also recommend contacting the show, as well.

RE: KEEPING A RUNNING LIST OF “DEFECTORS”!
What would be the point of doing it? And, while they are out in the public eye announcing their decision, could we be creating an easy place for others to find such names to use just to hassle them? Just trying to figure out how such a list could help us and/or harm those on the list.

oh godddddddd….
#427 BillieJo – I have tried to post this 5 times and would not take – might be a sign from up above that I am going to be attacked over my comments – but you asked and this is my own personal opinion to your question:
I personally don’t think the Bradley effect applies to Obomi – (I personally Liked Bradley myself) – I truly believe that Obomi has a stout group of supporters as did our Hillary – and they will support him to the end no matter to what extent that will be – its scary – never have I seen anything quite like it – and I have run a campaign or two myself – you have the politicans who want him because they think they can control him – and then you have many – not all – but look at the voting percentage of AA that really sincerely think he can make a change and help their lives to be better – and who amonst us does not want someone to make our lives better for us – and then you have the others who do not like the Republican candidate – there are a lot of many many factors involved in this particular campaign – and like it or not and I don’t personally – he has a pretty good team of statisticans or at least he did in the primaries – and I am not talking about the illegal things that were done – but they knew exactly where he had to make his speeches to get his votes to get the most of delegates -
So put all that together and I guess I still did not give you the answer you needed – I say no – not the same.
Don’t everone yell at me for my answer – I testify with my right puma paw in the air I am a Hillary Supporter from the get go and want NOBAMA ever in the White House.

He is losing because he is an arrogant, unscrupulous excuse for a human being.

To my mind, the ultimate expression of racism is when one person treats another differently because of their “race” (or any other “ism” factor). So, I turn Obama’s campaign’s cry of racism on its head: It would be racist to say I liked him, supported him, thought him worthy of the job of POTUS BECAUSE he is black.
Are there folks out there who won’t vote for Obama because he’s black? I’m sure there are. America is full of racist individuals, as it is full of those who wouldn’t vote for someone because they’re a woman, a Jew, a Muslim, a Catholic, etc, etc, etc. Racists and all other “ists” have always participated in elections, so this year will be no different.
However, to paint anyone and everyone who doesn’t support BO as racist is pitiful and profoundly desperate and offensive!

RE: PALIN INTERVIEW(s)
Just a quick comment re: the Charlie Gibson interview: I saw a clip on link someone provided recently.
What was up with them being seated so on top of each other that when they had their legs crossed as both did, their feet barely touched. Are interviews with Obama set up quite that intimately? Seems like a certain physical boundary would signify respect and would also allow the person being interviewed some degree of physical comfort so they didn’t have to worry that if they re-crossed their legs or moved their foot even an inch it would bump the interviewer. Just couldn’t help but notice that. I know they were likely trying to keep them both in the camera frame, but it just seemed uncomfortably close.

Can Obama really pull it off?
Donna Brazile, Al Gore’s campaign manager in 2000, is used to this “bed-wetting” phase of the campaign. “Democrats are notorious for whining when things go bad,” she said. “A presidential campaign is not for the fainthearted.”
She is not without her own criticism of the Obama campaign, however. She believes that the race is “essentially tied” and that Obama’s media strategists “need to sharpen their ads so they are more memorable and have a shelf life of more than 24 hours.”
She also worries that the Obama campaign is “insular.” She said: “It doesn’t feel like a family with all voices at the table are as diverse as the party itself. It still feels like a primary campaign with some additions. It doesn’t feel like all hands on deck.”
She believes Obama “should get back to issues, instead of talking about change.”
“People still have lingering doubts about Obama as to whether he can be trusted as commander in chief,” Brazile said. “I thought his campaign would have more meat on the bones by now. They did great job at the convention, but it was short-lived.”
PROWL COMPLETED! ROOOOOAAAARRR!

OBAMA CAUSED THE HOUSING & FINANCIAL CRISIS Since his days as a “Community Organizer” for ACORN, Obama has been an advocate for lowering mortgage underwriting standards for inner-city Blacks, and now 92% of those loans are in default. Poll shows McCain, Warner leading races in Virginia (McCain 48%, Obama 39%)
Virginian-Pilot ^
Posted on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 2:25:06 PM by Chet 99
Republican presidential nominee John McCain has opened a clear lead over Democrat Barack Obama among Virginia voters in the race for the White House, according to a new statewide poll.
The survey, taken last week for the Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University, found McCain with the support of 48 percent of state voters, compared with 39 percent for Obama. Just under 13 percent were undecided.
The poll also showed Democrat Mark Warner is maintaining a huge advantage, 54 percent to 30 percent, over Republican Jim Gilmore in the state’s U.S. Senate contest. Warner leads Gilmore among virtually all voter groups, the survey indicates, even claiming the support of nearly one in four Republicans.

I am glad Palin is keeping the vicious reporters at the back of the plane where they belong. They have been very upset that they cannot get to ask her questions. She has a journalism background so she understands their mentality. All they are interested in is asking her damaging questions and twisting things around. Now she is granting interviews to select people though I didn’t know why they set her up with Charlie Gibson who is just so smug and condesending.
Greta was very nice and respectful of Todd Palin’s interview. Even my husband liked it.
I really don’t think Palin should be on Oprah because she would definately paint Palin in a less than favourable light.
I talked my neighbor into voting McCain. He is a 94 year old World War II vet but it sounded like he was getting swayed by Obama’s sweet talk. I had to set him straight. Now he said he needs to set his daughter straight and vote for the good person – Country First.
I think our daily prowl is to keep talking to people.
Ok, finally got the prowl e-mail to work. I have no idea how. I just deleted all the addresses and re-entered them a couple of times. Then it worked. A few came back undeliverable though.
I wish FOX would get it right. Was it the Fed (Federal Reserve) which is a private organization, or was it the Government that gave AIG 85 million dollars?

I was reading the TimesOnline and was surprised to see that a network of five sharia courts have been set up in Britain to deal with Muslim civil matters. Two more are in the works.
Seven months ago, the Archbishop of Canterbury (Anglican Church) set off a news firestorm when he said that sharia law was inevitable. These courts were set up under Britain’s Arbitration Act 1996 and have the full force of law.
The article goes on to give some examples of how women have fared under these courts. It will come as no surprise to anyone that the women have been at great disadvantage.
The article appears in the http://www.timesonline.uk in the Sunday edition, September 14th. Its under the heading of UK News/Crime News.

Want a look inside our strategy to win the battleground states?
I recorded a video on my laptop yesterday to brief you on the plan — including details that haven’t been shared publicly before.
Our fight in the battleground states is going to be tougher than a lot of you may think. Take Florida, where George Bush won by just 381,000 votes in 2004. The campaign we’re running there is going to cost more than $39 million.
That can only come from supporters like you — unlike John McCain, we don’t take money from Washington lobbyists or special interest PACs.
To reach our goal, we need 50,000 new donors by Friday at midnight.
And if you make your first online donation today, your gift will go twice as far. A previous donor has promised to match every dollar you donate.

hillstheone #525 –
we ARE doing a Prowl to Kerry with bcc’s to major media.
That’s what this one is!
silly puma.
Everyone still Prowling??
Prowling is fun.
Prowling is pretty easy to do (yay Gypsy!)
Prowling makes you powerful.
Prowling makes your hair shine and your eyes glow.
Prowling is GOOD for you and good for AMERICA.
Get Prowling!
I also finished my prowl. It is always such a project for me. Perhaps someone could give instructions on a simpler way.
I copy everything and send it to myself. Then I forward it and take out all the instructions. Copy and paste the email addresses in the instructed box. I end up with a good email, but it seems complicated.

Did you see my post #362, I gave you the link to the City paper….
I saw an amazing statistic today in an article that discussed Oil’s dramatic price drop over the past few weeks:
“During the last two months, the world’s total energy costs have dropped $4 billion a day…An oil drop of $30 a barrel is significantly more damaging to Iran’s economy than UN Security Council sanctions.”
Energy is a huge cornerstone in correcting our economic woes. Conservation, alternative fuels, and national energy independence are critical.
Hillary was probably pulled from the event by BO’s team….hurts Hillary with Jewish base..no skin off his nose as he knows he won’t be supported by them anyway. She may have had NOTHING to do with being pulled…will we ever know ?
Prowls done.
Nobama. Nobiden. November. NO DEAL!

Why is the movie being shown AFTER the election..that is too far ‘after the fact’ the viewing public will be bored as it will be considered old news..except to us PUMAS.
———-
I totally agree, unless the movie is just for PUMAs, if not, it should be finished to have an impact at least a week or two before Nov 4th.
Just heard Hannity say on his radio program that some hackers hacked into Palin’s private email and is taking screen shots of her private emails and posting them on websites.
notyoursweetie..
you mean you didnt know that everything you do is racist?
why the very fact you’re alive is proof that you are a racist…when you breathe air and drink water and eat..well thats all racist too..
your very existence is proof of racism
I understand that oil drilling has been a controversial topic here, and I don’t mean to be adversarial. But a picture speaks a thousand words, and I found a map that explains so much more than I can say in words.
The map at the link below shows how tiny the “1002″ lands are in relation to the land that is already available for drilling oil and natural gas. Almost the entire northern coast is already involved. Because of this, the birthing ground of the entire Alaskan porcupine caribou herd has been squished into the small red area on the map known as the 1002 lands. The town marked “Arctic Village” is one of the Gwich’in villages along the migratory path of the caribou. I have already explained several times that if the caribou are forced away from the northern coastal plain, their chances of successfully propagating the herd are slim. They require those particular circumstances (i.e. northern sea breeze to keep away devouring insects, lack of wolves in that area, etc.)
All I ask is that you take a quick look at this map so that you can see how much has already been taken away, and how little still remains.
EVERYTHING is just too much to ask . . .

theres all this obama fraud running rampant and this stupid sob GW who can order federal agencies to investigate and prosecute obama vermin who are doing all kinds of illegal things
#522 freddiebrown: About Palin keeping the reporters at the back of the plane. I agree the back of the plane and silent is where the reporters belong. Some how these people think that directing an outrageous statement that is always distorted and often a flat out lie at a candidate is somehow informative. I mean reporters do not even ask questions they state blah blah blah….blah…blah! do you agree?! Yes or no?! YES! OR NO!?? I guess you aren’t going to answer me?! Was that a yes or a no??!!
typical media reporters questions..

We have got work to do. GO PUMA!!

I guess Sarah Palin is losing the anti-special-needs crowd.
NJ puma..we have to go to work for what?
#579…Osaka…Are they really asking her these questions? I am not surprised at anything anymore, but just checking. I don’t even think Hillary was asked this.
There’s a time and a place for stepping up on personal soapboxes. I don’t feel that this blog is either. When a person starts repeatedly espousing their personal beliefs on an issue it detracts from the purpose of the blog. We all have our own beliefs on many important topics, be they feminism, the environment, etc. If you post your beliefs, okay, I’ll read them. It’s good to weigh other’s views against your own. But please, quit harping on one subject. I still choking from the DNC trying to shove BO down my throat and I really don’t need people here trying to do the same with their opinions. Sorry, don’t mean to offend. It’s just that sometimes it’s aggravating, and after all the goal is to keep BO OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE. Let’s sink his ship and then worry about other issues. Just my humber opinion.
typo: humber is supposed to be humble. sorry!
585 osaka puma
I meant that we had to make sure BO does not win Florida or Ohio in November.
#567 michelle47 Yes I did but I couldn’t get it to work when I clicked on it
Obama is the ultimate racist and, if he has his way, will make everyone else a racist. Which makes absolutely no sense. In order for their to be ‘racists’ there have to be ‘non-racists’., but if everyone is…….. um, er, could you uh, maybe explain and clarify this a little more, BO?
It’s starting to feel like a person can’t be part of the ‘in crowd unless they are ‘racist’.

Ah yes. That’s the one! Thank you.
Now I’ll send it and the PAC’s AOD video off to my kool-aid drunk sister!
She just cannot seem to understand why I will not heed Hillary’s plea to get behind “The One” since I worked so hard for Hillary and they believe in the same issues. I’ve already tried to explain that Hillary does not own my vote; that I am pi$$ed at the DNC leadership and that they MUST not be rewarded for their blind arrogance and ignorance; that BO is an illegitimate fraud candidate who lacks integrity, character, and any semblance of leadership qualities; and that I am so very tired of being branded a d$#ned racist just because I will not ‘fall in line’. And that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg of my issues with BO and the DNC. So I guess it is time for some caucus fraud show and tell.
this entire obama phenomenon in my opinion has created a new american “cold war”..
i know obama supporters are american citizens but honestly i cant stand them and the further they are away from me the better it is..
i dont know if im the only one who feels this but whenever im around obama kool aid drinkers a wall of ice goes up between us..
i am so outraged at all the immoral and illegal crap they have done and continue to do to get obama up there..
it seems no one can stop the criminals..not even the GOP!!

PLEASE READ:
Extracted from Vogue September. I found it helpful and hope PUMAs will too.
When discussing politics, always keep in mind you’re conversing, not campaigning.
As the plot really begins to thicken in a presidential election year, talking politics in social life has become tricky. Here are a few suggestions to keep everything cool.
1) Of utmost importance, respect boundaries. Do not ask whom someone is voting for. That is, initially, too invasive. Something along the lines of “How do you feel the election is going?” will allow discussion to unfold in a general way, becoming more personal soon enough but in a mutually agreeable manner.
The reason politics can become so contentious is that we confuse it with values. Politics is theoretical, historical, scholarly and impersonal. Values are emotional; they define us. Telling people they are wrong about anything – from their candidate of choice to Iran, Iraq, health care, or whether the candidate’s wife will be a good First Lady – WILL FEEL LIKE AN ATTACK IF WE ARE TALKING PERSONAL VALUES, NOT POLITICS.
In response, we find ourselves defending our beliefs to the end because one’s definition of self, unwittingly or not, seems to depend on being found right. In short, no one wants to be found rooting for the wrong guy.
2) If you find yourself under verbal attack, when trying to make your point, divert the conversation immediately. “Oh, well, enough about me, how are you doing ? “
3) If you’re talking to someone younger, do not condescend. If you are talking to someone older, back up feelings with facts and never be in such a rush to make your point that you forget the art of listening. And please, no one try to emulate the histrionic, discursive style of the talking heads you see on TV.

TO DANCES W/PUMA :
Post # 596 could be useful for the action center as a HOW TO DISCUSS YOUR POLITICAL VIEWS WITH FRIENDS AND RELATIVES.
Anyone can add to it if they have other ideas. Hopefully it makes less confrontational conversations at work too.
I have to believe that McCain is doing about 3 – 4 points better than the polls show, and here’s why: the samples are weighted according the demographics. Nationally, there are more registered democrats than republicans. Consequently, democrats are sampled more heavily…this is intentional…to get an accurate read on the electorate. However, this year, the electorate has effectively changed. It’s has if millions of democrats have disappeared and in their place millions of republicans poofed into existence. This is a double whammy. However, if you keep polling heavily weighted toward democrats, the results will not reflect the PUMA factor. This is the whole purpose of the Godzilla Prowl getting worked up…don’t do it yet, it’s not ready.
# 600 – nice idea. i’d add to it:
if obama supporter appears “genuinely” interested in your perspective, you can offer to provide them with some info and/or links to web sites where they can learn a bit more about where you’re coming from and why. (in my experience, that usually stops things dead in the tracks since they really DON’T want to know my rationale – they just want to attack me)
godzilla – interesting thinking. but, per your initial point, i think most reputable polls account for disproprotionate ways results could be skewed based on party affiliation.

She’s a confounded U.S. Senator from NY for crying out loud! Why the heck should the BO campaign be able to tell her to attend or not to attend this rally in NY? She’s a representative of the people, not the BO campaign. this is why the people should be contacting her U.S. Senate Office and demand to know point blank why she pulled out of this thing just because Palin was going to be there. This was billed as a non-partisan ’support’ event, she’s spoken there before when other repugs were there, and yet it’s clear that for some reason Senator Clinton must have felt that it was going to be partisan and politically reactive. As her constituents the good people of NY, her constituents and all of us since she is a federal representative, have every right to know exactly why she pulled out. If it was to somehow protect BO’s campaign then that in my mind, as much as I respect her and still want her to be our next POTUS, is just plain wrong.

Politico Poll – who has run the most honorable campaign is obviously rigged – I have been voting on it for hours and every time I vote a new figure shows of at least 8 or 9 votes after the last one and figures have not moved from 73% BO to 27% McCain – for hours now – I think with 6785 votes – that they gave him a head start of 5000 votes beginning with 65% — they all drank the kool aide over there.

Hey PUMAs! I haven’t been posting lately, but have been here daily reading! I live in Jacksonville and Monday John and Cindy McCain were here. My partner, Pete and I went to see them and I was amazed at the number of young voters that were there supporting him. From all we hear on the MSM, you’d think that everyone under the age of 30 is automatically in the Nobama column! Not so! Thank God!
I am a commercial realtor and I get a lot of chances to talk with all kinds of people! It amazes me at the number of people who are voting for McCain and like most of us, were life long Democrats!
Just wanted to share that! I hope you are all well!

“Rasmussen Markets data gives McCain a 49.2% chance of victory while expectations for Obama are at 49.3%. These figures are updated on a 24/7 basis by market participants.”

Hi Folks.
Plains Radio Network’s No Obama Talk show will have as its guest Steve Schmidt, John McCain’s senior advisor, on its radio program tonight (Wednesday) at 7 pm central. Steve will be taking your questions for 1 hour.
We are also in the process of booking Gov Sarah Palin on our show too. If everything goes right, we will have her in the 2 weeks or so. The McCain people are reaching out to all of us Hillary Clinton supporters to try and earn our vote. We are the block of voters that they know will put them in the White House. So here is your chance to call and ask a question or give a brief comment to Steve.
All calls will be restricted to 3 minutes so we can get as many calls in as we can. Please do not get anrgy when I drop your call after you have asked your question.

Be sure and listen Wednesday night from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm for Steve Schmidt. Hope to see all of you in our chat room.

GREAT NEWS….A huge Hillary Clinton supporter, someone who has MONEY – even more than Oprah, is changing to vote for McCain/Palin.
Lady Lynn Forester De Rothschild is now supporting the McCain/Palin ticket…
Wolfe ask her if she had called Hillary. She said, “No, this is a personal choice. My Country means more than my party”.
He said was it because she didn’t like nobama. She said, “No, I don’t think he is ready to be president”.
If I had been there, I would have hugged her. She was so sincere. Wolfe tried to get her to say things, but she was clear about her choice.
She is head of something in the DNC. She said she had resigned..
God bless you Lady Rothschild..

I just received an email from the Indiana Dems. It was regarding Linda Pence who is running for Attorney General. It stated to call in and talke to a representative about gas price gouging in Indiana. I called the number and got her campaign manager on the cell phone. It just so happens, I got the “press release”! I said well I am a PUMA DEMOCRAT- but Linda is on my list to vote for in the General Election, I was going to forward this email to all the Indiana Puma’s. He said hmmm interesting, your a Puma huh? I said yes do you know who we are? He said OF COURSE! He gave me his number at the campaign HQ because he was right in the middle of the press conference with a big crowd around him!
If any Indian Puma’s out there want to call about the gas prices, you can call the HQ for Linda Pence at 317-687-9144.
I told him I would forward the email to all the Puma’s so here it is. Sorry for the long post!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wed., Sept. 17, 2008 Contact: Joel Miller (317)-750-5757 LINDA PENCE CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION INTO HIGH GAS PRICES Hard-Working Hoosiers Deserve An Attorney General Who Will Advocate For Them Indianapolis, Ind. – Today, Linda Pence, candidate for Attorney General, held a press conference to call attention to the skyrocketing price of gas. In Indiana, the average price of gasoline hit $4.17, marking a sudden and across-the-board increase in the state. Indiana is paying higher prices than 44 other states, but no one is currently investigating why. “When Hoosier families are wondering about the sudden and uniform increase, it is the responsibility of the Attorney General to look into the matter and demand an answer. The people of Indiana need someone who will advocate for their interests, and not roll over for Big Oil,” said Linda Pence, candidate for Attorney General. Right now, the Attorney General’s office touts a gas price-gouging hotline. However, when a constituent called the number, the message merely stated: “Thank you for calling the gas-gouging line. We want to let you know that we can only pursue gas gouging complaints when the governor declares a state of emergency. The governor has not yet declared a state of emergency, but we want to go ahead and collect your information. Please remain on the line for a representative, and thank you.” Linda Pence knows the Attorney General should do more, and stated today that she would “take a more aggressive and vocal role to investigate price gouging, price fixing and potential anti-trust violations.” Leaving an innocuous outgoing message is not action; it is not the solution or answer Hoosiers deserve. They deserve a person of action; not simply empty words and rhetoric. While at the U.S. Department of Justice, Pence fought oil companies over oil pricing. She has a history of standing up for honest, hardworking Hoosiers in the face of Big Oil and the special interests. She believes it is not the job of the Attorney General to make excuses; it is the job of the Attorney General not to turn a blind eye to Big Oil. Rather in this situation, the Attorney General should actively investigate them with a robust, proactive agenda that will ensure consumers are protected. If Pence were attorney general today, she would launch a serious investigation into the pricing practices of gasoline in Indiana. She would publicly pursue complaints in order to deter oil companies from trying to reap more money at the expense of Hoosiers. She calls on the Attorney General’s office to report to the people of Indiana what they have done to ensure that the Hoosiers are protected and not being treated differently than any other state in the country, and make known what–if any–lawsuits have been filed. “Price gouging is good for the oil companies, but bad for all of us. This is all happening at a time when the oil companies are reaping record profits, but Hoosiers are paying record prices at the pump,” said Pence. ###
Murphy – thanks, I realized it was one of the email addy’s that I inserted in my prowls. Sorry for my own confusion. Thanks again.
I finished the prowls-except for the calls. Sorry I cannot speak without a teleprompter.

#584 Godzilla,
This kind of vile crap really disturbs me and just breaks my heart. It’s just pure hate driven. People like this are evil. Something has gone terribly wrong in our country when this kind of thinking is becoming the norm. There used to be a time when the average person condemned this kind of thinking but now people laugh and agree.
Kill the weak and old, this is what the Nazis believed.

shucks! I need to re-read my post about politico talk. I just told my investment manager: Vote carefully. As long as you don’t vote Obama, you’re fine. Why mince words eh?
Good evening. I don’t know if you guys have seen the Right Change commercials but check out their website. It gives info about Oblahblah’s tax plan. Scary to say the least. http://www.rightchange.com/
“In my experience, Down Syndrome children are filled with just pure love and I believe they are a gift from God.”
Agree! (except for the “from God” part).
As are all chidren.
#667 KarlaforHillary,
I think this election is bringing out the worst in everybody. There are strong feelings on both sides.
#654 texassherry: some of might want to but another thing if we were at a Nobama rally and done that we would probably be mobbed
———————————————————–To Rusty Weiss. how low can you go? I know some down syndrome children and they are so sweet and loving.
#672 Pookie ,
Nah…I’m pretty brave but not stupid enough to go to an Obama rally
#672 Pookie,

I did my prowl, MamaPuma! I miss you, too. We sure had some fun in Denver, didn’t we?

#645 ladyhawkke- Do you have a link for the show?
I feel bad for McCain- yes that was so rude. I live in Obama hell so I know how rude they can be. No manners, and they really think oblowme is going to magically make their lives better, without them having to do a thing, they think it is owed to them.
#677 1gypsy4mc
I will help you, but I work during the days so my time is limited to early a.m. and some evening.
What do you need?
Just popped in…who said something nasty about Trig?

680 utahpuma – Thankyou. I think they need to be sent an email along with Congressmen/Senators/Representatives – both parties, including Independents. I’m not a good writer though, but there are quite a few that good draw up a pretty good email. Let’s see if we can get some more in this corner. Thanks again.
what happen to MMCAIN in the car factory in michigan probably was not something that happens spontaneously
more like it was some sort crafted boycoot
Perhaps we should send a Puma Pounce to the union or the factory and let them know how dis respectful they were, and let them know…that we buy or don’t buy their cars….we are very good about boycotting….and writing union reps.
story…
maybe mccain knew what would happen before he went into that factory….
..get it?

The Associated Press State & Local Wire
DATELINE: BIRMINGHAM Ala.
Alabama inmates are registering to vote from prison in a precedent-setting
effort organized by activist groups with the blessing of state corrections
officials.
Nearly 80 prisoners had filled out registration forms during drives at two
lockups, and organizers plan to help them and hundreds more obtain absentee
ballots in time to vote in the presidential election on Nov. 4.
Laura Schley, 34, has eight months left on a four-year sentence for illegal
possession of prescription drugs. She had a hard time believing she was
registering Tuesday at the Birmingham Work Release Center.
“It just blew my mind,” said Schley, who was wearing prison whites. “My
voting rights are very important to me and have been ever since I was 18.”
Angela Wright, in the work-release center for cocaine possession, said she
has to study before casting her vote for either Republican John McCain or
Democrat Barack Obama for president.
Studies have estimated that more than 250,000 Alabama residents are barred
from voting because of criminal records.
Glasgow believes about 3,000 people could be eligible to vote from inside
Alabama prisons, and he plans to register as many as possible in coming weeks.
Completed voter registration forms will be sent to the secretary of state’s
office and volunteers will return to state lockups to make sure prisoners cast
their absentee ballots.
“We’re not telling them how to vote. We just want to make sure they get them
in the mail,” he said.
————
Yea right, I’m sure they won’t mention that they support Barack and he is helping them get their right to vote. Going to dump this over on the Drudge.
When I read this news it made my blood boil, greed in Wallstreet and politicians in Congress has no limitations. As long as their pockets are lined with green bucks to hell with investors and the American people who pay their taxes religiously. Our people in Congress are irresponsible and just as greedy as those people in Wallstreet.

This greed was beyond irresponsible

I have a fine seat in the FT’s New York office looking down the canyon of Sixth Avenue towards the banks of Midtown. From my perch, I have watched the flabbergasting events of the past week.
My initial reaction was excitement – what a time to be observing Wall Street for a living! This steadily gave way to bafflement, fear and finally, after the US government’s $85bn (£48bn, €60bn) bail-out of AIG , anger.
I was pleased that Hank Paulson, the Treasury secretary, heeded my advice (OK, that of others too) and refused to rescue Lehman Brothers. Guess what? The world did not end on Monday, even if the stock market dropped, and on Tuesday, the Federal Reserve was also defiant.
Its unanimous decision not to bow to market fears and cut interest rates was greeted with boos on the New York Stock Exchange floor. But the stock market took the medicine and went on to rally again.
Then came Mr Paulson’s retreat, executed with gritted teeth, as the government and the Fed reluctantly decided that the risks of letting AIG founder in the same way as Lehman were too great.
That frightened me.
There would be no justification for rescuing AIG under other circumstances. The chances of the average homeowner not getting an insurance claim paid if AIG’s holding company had been allowed to go under were slim, since its local property and casualty operations are sturdy and well-run.
Propping it up also creates moral hazard. Although its shareholders will lose most of their money, it encourages the idea that institutions can run amok in markets and will be bailed out. Indeed, the bigger they are and the worse they have behaved, the more likely it is to happen.
But forget all of that. It can be considered at leisure later on. The thing that frightened me was that Mr Paulson put up US government money when he so obviously did not want to. Having examined the heart of darkness – AIG’s $60bn book of derivatives written on other derivatives based on bad residential mortgages – his resolve crumbled.
Lord knows where this leaves us, since only He knows what a credit default swap (CDS) on a collateralised debt obligation (CDO) is worth.
Warren Buffett warned in 2003 that derivatives were “financial weapons of mass destruction” and that, while the Federal Reserve system was created in part to prevent financial contagion, “there is no central bank assigned to the job of preventing the dominoes toppling in insurance or derivatives”.
Incidentally, I recommend re-reading the entire passage, in the report for 2002 to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, because it is amazingly prescient about the “time bomb” that has now detonated.
For want of an alternative, the Fed has now become that central bank. This alone is a mess. At least when the Fed rescued Bear Stearns in March, it could turn itself into the de facto regulator of investment banks. But insurance groups are supervised – absurdly – by a network of state regulators. What happens now?
Mr Paulson is not only picking up the bill for the states. He is also doing a favour for European governments, whose banks would have been hit. Many of AIG’s toxic insurance contracts linked to subprime CDOs were sold to European banks to allow them to treat the securities they held as double A rated.
Given that AIG was helping them to dodge Basel I capital requirements by taking out flawed insurance contracts, it is not surprising that confidence and interbank liquidity have collapsed. A spike in Libor and the need for Lloyds TSB to take over HBOS are two consequences.
My final reaction is anger.
We are now, unquestionably, in the worst financial crisis since 1929. We do not know how many more banks and institutions will fail – Washington Mutual, the US counterpart of HBOS, is under severe pressure – but Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Lehman and AIG are plenty.
There are lots of people and institutions to blame for that, from regulators to mortgage brokers to, let us admit it, all of us who decided to speculate on house prices.
But AIG takes the biscuit. Here was a huge multinational insurance group with a reputation for solid underwriting and risk management that decided to diversify from insuring risks it knew well – car crashes and fires – to covering derivatives it did not understand.
Of course, it thought it understood them. In presentations to investors this year, it emphasised how thoroughly its AIG Financial Products arm assessed the risks of insuring CDOs. It ran all the data and decided that, in the worst case, it risked losing $2.4bn on the portfolio.
Well, $24bn of write-downs later – a mere 10 times its maximum estimate – the company has burned through its equity, spread financial chaos to all corners of the earth and humiliated the US Treasury. The job of insurance companies is to guard others against catastrophes, not cause them.
The word “irresponsible” does not begin to describe AIG’s behaviour. Like Bear, Lehman and others, it saw a way to get in on the growing action in mortgage-backed derivatives. Its bankers were soon earning huge fees for themselves and AIG by piling up unimaginable risks.
Call me a spoilsport, but I do not believe that AIG or any other capital markets institution should be allowed to play like that with my money (I am a US taxpayer) in future.
If this means going back to basics, and redesigning the global regulatory system so that a renegade insurance company is denied the chance to blow up the world’s banks again, so be it. Regulation cannot solve everything but enough is enough.

hey Dances,
My youngest brother was a Downs baby. My Mom had him the year she turned 40. I was 17. When I see Trig, it brings tears to my eyes. My brother passed away this past Dec. 1. He looked so much like Trig when he was a baby. You are right about all children. Downs children are so loving and precious. I believe that God gives these children to special families, those who will open their hearts and accept the love and the joy they bring to your life. They do. I’m an expert. Sarah’s family is one of those families.

Hacking e-mail is a federal crime. A TV anchor who broke into his colleague’s e-mail account recently pleaded guilty and faces a maximum five years in prison.
The law will catch up to the hackers, but what about the lowlifes who are now gleefully splashing the alleged contents of Palin’s private e-mail account all over the Internet?

Okay, read the article and am outraged that anyone would say that about a Downs baby, or any baby for that matter. In my experience, those with downs are the most loving and sweet people out there. And seeing as there are varying degrees, I think this guy is a damn fool! There are many folks out there with downs who have jobs pay taxes are contribute far more to society then a lot of others do. We need to prowl his sorry a**!

if obama gets in he can make such trouble for PUMAS your head would spin..
he could harrass PUMAS many ways..harrasing IRS audits and investigations, grand jury investigations for internet ,fraud tax evasion or embezzlement, debt collection agencies, criminal investigations, health records, licenses, contracts ..the list goes on and on of the things a president has at their disposal to intimidate or destroy their enemies..

Mick, thank you. I was happy to share. His name was David and he was a joy. When you have the privilege of knowing and loving a Downs child, you get so much more than you could ever possibly give.
Anyone who could speak those hateful words about a Downs child, should brace his feet, for what goes around, will surely come around!
DWP
What is your email I have some NObama stickers to send you.
Here’s another take on the pullout:
NY & NJ in danger!
//HRC has the best possible relations with the Orthodox of the Tri-State area, and with Malcolm Hoenlein and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. At the same time, the Conference is deeply bipartisan with excellent relations with both parties in Congress and with all possible candidates. This is not AIPAC, but it is a close cousin, and there is no party of candidate favoritism. For Mrs. Clinton to cancel this event, a center piece rally in the Big Apple the day before the UN opens for another year of wackiness, a rally where Mrs. Clinton has spoken before as keynoter, requires more than the offered explanation that HRC was ambushed by the announcement of Sarah Palin’s attendance — and that somehow the presence of a vice-presidential candidate makes the moment partisan.
John McCain is going to be with Bill Clinton this week and no one can spin that as anything less than smart. So why?
The Game Within
New York numbers are shockingly bad for Obama-Biden. The latest is that the candidates are within 5%, which is bizarre and unacceptable. The Democrats win NY state by 15% or more. As my best Democratic source on New York said, “This is ridiculous.” More, there is confirmation from the GOP side and the Democratc side that McCain-Palin are within 3 points in New Jersey. These two blinding stats seem a truer explanation of Mrs. Clinton’s sudden cancellation.
The Obama Team is in a panic.
The Obama Team does not have time, money or staff to work New York and New Jersey. They have to win in the bluest of states without effort. And to look at the field, to consider that the real possibility of a handshake or nod between HRC and Sarah would be enshrined on the front pages of the New York Post and Daily News, was unacceptable.//
E-mail and fax prowls done.
I sent the email and faxes for the prowl but did not call because I am having a major anger problem about Lipstick & Treason. I do not believe I could have maintained any reasonable standard of courtesy on the telephone.

I also have a brother who is downs a sister also. Are parents are gone now so both live with me. They are so much fun. My kids and grandkids all enjoy there company so much. Sarah Palin’s Email
I would not worry too much about Palin’s government email address. Under the Freedom of Information Act, it is public information, anyway. The stupid hackers are probably in more trouble than she is.
#717mkp651,
They are so much fun. I miss David’s laughter more than anything! He had just turned 42 when he passed. He loved Thanksgiving and Christmas. It isn’t the same without him. Both of our parents are gone now, as well. I know he’s with them and that is a comfort!

Just catching up on posts….

BO is in a no win situation, so he is not going to get off scott free. Even if he can effectively deny it, he still has to call the Iraqi Prime Minister a liar. Not good diplomacy.
The thing is that BO was so STUPID to take his egotrip and place himself in the position to be accused, that it demonstrated clearly he is no diplomat.
McCain/Palin drew blood and the sharks in the water are comming for the feeding frenzy.
We just need to tell everybody who will listen. Blog, blog, blog, post, post, post, talk, talk, talk.

Mkp651, take care of yourself and thank you for your kind words. Talk again soon.
#711 SusyT,
I agree 100%. My friend has a son with Downs and he is pure love and joy. A funny but sweet story, one day he was in line at the grocery store with his mom and standing next to him was this big AA man. The man looked very sad and low. He was dirty and looked homeless. Her son turned to the man and said real loud, “I love you”. The man just stood there, ignored the boy and said nothing. Again, he said real loud, “I love you.” My friend tried to distract her son but he wouldn’t stop. He just kept staring at the man, and persistently said, “I love you.” Finally, the man smiled real big and said, “I love you too.”
It was like he knew that this guy needed to hear that he was loved. It just warms my heart thinking about that sweet boy telling a total stranger how much he loved him.
susy…. people live and die..but love lives forever..

I think Down Syndrome children are a gift from God. There’s something so special about them you just can’t help hugging them. I have a favorite grocery here in my city, I only go there because they have a bagger with Down Syndrome. Every customer calls him “boss” even the checkers. He loves it when customers call him Boss, he have this huge grin and then a very sweet giggle. One time i try to give him a tip for loading up my groceries, he refuse my tip. He said to me, “Sorry Maam, I’m the boss I don’t accept tips for my service.” I have this huge smile!
Thanks, Sherry!

Thank you very much sir. It doesn’t look good for NObama in Illinois, I have relatives living in Chicago, they’re democrats but voting for McCain. What made me laugh Bob during primary NObama was bragging he’ll turn Idaho into red state and Alaska. These two states are as red as it gets. He even abandon Georgia now; SC and NC will stay red. Missouri will go red this year the same with Kansas birthplace of his grandparents on mother side.
In addition Bob, Texas is a red state since time immemorial. I think only Lyndon Johnson turn Texas into blue.
There’s a PUMA at McCain’s Town Hall in Michigan! She got called by McCain and asked a question about women’s equality! This is great!

- Way to say it, sister! ;D
NOTES from today’s HANNITY radio program:
Hannity spoke of the gov’t-sponsored Companies Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and how, through their practices, helped bring about last Monday’s Stock Market “crash.”
Obama has strong ties to Fannie & Freddie and their corruption.
Some of BO’s economic advisors and associates are top dogs in Fannie Mae and they’re part of BO’s campaign.
Between 1989 and 2008, of the 300+ lawmakers who received money from Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, BO is the second largest recipient… and he was only there for 3 of those years.
BO did nothing with all that money in the IL senate or US senate.
Now he claims he had some role in oversight to these industries (a LIE)… and he’s blaming the Republicans and McCain for the crisis.
McCain introduced the federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act in 2005 that, if it had passed, could have helped avert the current Fanny/Freddie crisis. McCain (in his speech when he pushed for the Act) was prophetic in foreseeing what may happen without regulation and warning of the risk in not reforming the F/F enterprises.
BO opposed the Act.
All expressions of love are maximal.
Love is eternal.

#745 pumasupporter – YES, YES, YES! I saw it too. She said she was a democrat, that she supported Hillary, that she was upset that Hillary didn’t get a full roll call vote at the convention and she now supports McCain…..FREAKIN AWESOME. Way to go PUMA!!!!!!
pumasupporter,
But was she wearing a PUMA t-shirt or wearing anything PUMA-related?
No. She said that she was a PUMA on the mic, and that she and some other PUMAs are working hard to get out the vote for McCain.
Has anyone else seen this? I don’t even know how they got my email address but this is what they sent (sorry, it’s rather lengthy):
It’s the ugliest attack on voting rights we’ve seen in recent history–if you live in Michigan and you’re in danger of losing your home to foreclosure, Republicans will try to take away your right to vote.1
McCain’s response? Silence. Like Bush in 2000 and 2004, he’s trying to keep a safe distance from these tactics, while benefiting from them. McCain could end this with a phone call. But he won’t.
It’s voter-suppression at its worst. They’re taking advantage of folks falling on hard times and using it for political gain–kicking people while they’re down. It’s time to hold McCain publicly accountable for this strategy.
Will you join us in outing McCain for not denouncing these tactics and invite your friends and family to do the same? It just takes a moment:
http://colorofchange.org/michigan08/?id=1947-638603
For years, Republicans have engaged in “caging”–challenging the eligibility of voters on election day to suppress turnout and intimidate voters.2 They’ll often try to reject voters by claiming they don’t live at the address where they’re registered. This year, they’ve taken it to a new low–the chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County, Michigan said last week, “We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses.”3
In other words, they’ll target every voter whose house is on a foreclosure list, and challenge their voting rights on election day. But just because your name is on a list, it doesn’t mean that you’ve lost your home or moved. In fact, many homeowners stay in their homes for months after the foreclosure process has begun, and some people are able to catch up on their payments and reverse the process.4
So why are Republicans illegally targeting homeowners who’ve had a tough time under Bush’s economy? Because they know they’re likely to vote for Democrats, and for Obama for President. In Michigan, over 60% of sub-prime loans were made to African-Americans.5 And in general, people who’ve been hit hard by the economy are less likely to vote for Republicans. This tactic won’t just affect struggling homeowners–it will cause longer lines and delays at the polls for everyone that lives in a neighborhood with a high number of foreclosures. And that’s the point.
After making the plan public, Michigan Republicans are backtracking and claiming they were misquoted.6 But everything indicates that these are exactly the kinds of tactics they’ll use,7 and they’re just trying to squash an embarrassing story.8
Similar tactics are being used across the country, but the McCain campaign simply sits in the background, quietly benefiting from voter suppression. The Obama campaign is fighting against this plan in the courts,9 but they need our help to expose these dishonorable tactics and make this a national story.
If enough of us step up and connect the dots, we’ll give the press a reason to make the connection between McCain and what’s happening in Michigan. And as we’ve seen in our other campaigns,10 when we stand together behind a clear message, the press covers it and moves our message forward.
Calling on McCain to publicly reject these tactics is just the first step in our campaign to shame the Republican Party for attacking the voting rights of struggling homeowners.

the media is mentally sick
if palin would have gotten a prescribed abortion, the media would have ripped her into pieces
The NY event isn’t just a political rally, it’s an anti-Iran rally against a particular political leader. In the Arab world I’m sure this would be viewed as inappropriate meddling or even a sign of possible future aggression on the part of the West. What if Hillary has to negotiate with Iran some day? Better not to have a photo of her at a Jewish rally bandied about the Middle East.
Also she needs to protect her ‘brand’ as DNC, including who is on the same stage, and how much control she has over the venue. Trust her political instincts on this–it’s her back yard and there are so many good reasons on so many levels for her to make socially acceptable excuses.
#736…Bobram…Will be waiting for your assessment. These polls are driving me nuts.
Biden is going to have all he can handle with Palin. I’m watching her and McCain streaming live rightnow at their town hall in MI. She’s very very good.

#758 – I meant in the VP debate.
pumasupporter,
WOW! That’s a Big Headline for PUMApac today!!
I saw on another site that someone said Hillary was going to make some sort of public announcement tomorrow..has anyone heard that or anything like that?
#737 Asian4Hillary,
760, hillstheone, yes it is. When she said she was from PUMA, McCain smiled and nodded his head. This PUMA thing is bigger than anyone realized.
Did you hear about Sarah Palin’s email account being hacked into and pics of her email being posted on different websites, i.e. huffington post?? Absolutely outrageous!!!!!!!!!
#677 1Gypsy I am on it now —-
#758…NobamaDem…Am watching this … Its all ad hoc. Amazing. No script. No teleprompter.
CTKEY – what I am discovering is amazing to me as well – I think there is a big wind a blowing SOON

Could you release my post at 753. It has too many links and is in moderation. I posted it because it shows another facet of what we’re up against.

the real possibility of a handshake or nod between HRC and Sarah would be enshrined on the front pages of the New York Post and Daily News, was unacceptable.//

That is exactly the picture I want to see. Glorious. A big picture of the two of them smiling together would be tremendous. Obviously Obambie pulled the plug. He hates all women and could not let it happen.
Well Obie I filp my finger to you.
I must admit that I am always worried that Obambie might pull it out. The financial crisis on Wall Street is the kind of thing that gives him the opportunity to bounce back. He is lieing up a storm to win votes based on the crisis.
The Attn Gen of US should arrest his butt on Treason for what he did in Iraq. We should demand it. He compromised the entire country for his selfish lust for power. Imagine what he would do if he were president. OMG. God save America.
The town hall meeting is on fox now
Just have to shar this story, still makes me smile to this day. Back when I was in retail management an employee’s friend came in with her son who was 20 and had Downs. Well during the course of our visit, he proposed to me and offered me his high school ring…but my favorite part, we were near the magazines and on the cover of one was Sandra Bullock..he pointed and said “she’s pretty, she looks just like you”…well who am I to argue with this fabulous human being…made my year!

I think that you should update Gallop and Rasmussen
—————————–
What do you mean?
——–
I mean that your polling results
Obama 0%
McCain 100%
were much better than the other polls and you should teach Gallop and Rasmussen how to do their polls properly.
Back to prowl work
30,000 emails have gone out.
this is not up to our best work and needs attention.
PROWL!!!!!!!!!
Watched the town hall. They are a team. There is no doubt about that. She is good. He is solid. You won’t see BO pressing the flesh like this with questions form regular folks.
766 bobram You’re on what?
Thanks dwp and mama.
Great work today Pumas, and tomorrow is another day!
Lion’s Share post is up. Feel free to repost comments.
Take it upstairs!
Thanks to whoever posted the link to the Town Hall meeting. I think the best sound bite from it was when Palin said how their opponents keep hammering away about how they will fight for you, but that John McCain is the only candidate who ever fought for you.
(That said, just can’t get excited about this ticket. But, no way can I vote for Obama.)

Have to agree Anna. Can’t get excited, but may be comfortable with it for four years. They’re solid, even though I do not agree with half their policies. Still can’t make up my mind how to do NObama on Nov 4. It’s tough without the only one who should be getting my vote even an option – one Sen Hillary Rodham Clinton!

What I really liked about their interaction with one another was that he actually let her be the “expert” on the energy questions and even said “Sarah knows more about that then me…” He deferred to her quite a bit to actually let her try to shine on certain issues. Somehow I just do not get the feeling that Oblahblah would want to shut up long enough to let a lowly woman outshine him.

CNN is an Obama network. I wouldn’t believe their polls. Rasmussen is more accurate.
I’ve been reading the posts about the Obama cyberbullies picking on Trig. This confirms everything about Obama and how he inspires the worst traits in his followers.
Here’s another take on the pullout:
NY & NJ in danger!
“HRC has the best possible relations with the Orthodox of the Tri-State area, and with Malcolm Hoenlein and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
And to look at the field, to consider that the real possibility of a handshake or nod between HRC and Sarah would be enshrined on the front pages of the New York Post and Daily News, was unacceptable.”
Sorry for the dupe posts. Wordpress informed me the first didn’t go thru, so I tried again later.
Do you think the danger of losing NY would make Oblabla clutch at Hillary to replace Biden and save him? Would she agree?
Rasmussen Reports has Sarah beating Joe for POTUS! By 3%. What do you think the margin will be after the VP debate?
396 bobram on 09.17.08 at 2:46 pm
BILLIEJO – are you sure DrudgeReport is Republican information — all I see is you know whos face on the home page and all articles about him and what he said and how he is going to change the world —- I did not drink the kool aide in fact I almost snapped off one of my puma paws getting out of the door as they were trying to slam in on me to lock me in – OUCH
—————
The Drudge was always been a right leaning, out there sort of site. There are articles on the web about Obama having advertising to get people on this site, I saw a little box on the top of the page for a few seconds.
Don’t be such a chickenPUMA, lots of people go to the Drudge and many talk show hosts take their info from that site and other websites. The point of putting articles that expose Bo dirty tricks is for others besides PUMAs to see it, right????????????
Anybody heard how this forum turned out?
http://helpmejoseph.typepad.com/charlotte_front_and_cente/
“Biden and Clinton held an online video forum with women voters where they took questions on pay equity, abortion rights and other issues. The forum was to be broadcast Wednesday evening on Obama’s campaign Web site.”
The site post also said:
“Advisors to party nominee Barack Obama and to Clinton say that she will resist pressure to speak out against Palin, believing it would diminish her own stature while creating a “cat fight” sideshow that would only distract voters from the contest at the top of the ticket.”
Just over at The Confluence….super quote by ‘I’m Not a Fish,Sweetie’ Sept 17……..
“It’s NOT the pigmentation that I’m opposed to… it’s the pig mentality” what a come back for anyone foolish enough to call you a racist !!! (chuckle, chuckle!!!)
I WONDER how Obama’s global poverty tax for 845 Billion is going to fit into our economy? He can’t even take a position on the economy because he has none! WHAT a leader….LOL….
I’ve been reading the posts about the Obama cyberbullies picking on Trig.
Picking on a 5mth old with Downs….HOW PRODUCTIVE, these people make me sick! Keep in mind many of the Obama bots on the net are teenage kids or people who hate America without jobs!
