Fair warning: Expect assumptions to be challenged in this post. It’s part of my gadfly approach. That approach is probably the result of my working class upbringing, filled as it was with all the right values propped up by all the wrong lies, as well as my eventual over-education (for my class), which provided me with strong research and reasoning skills, an instinct for critical thinking, and the ability to articulate well. What that education did not provide me with was unvarnished truth, only a means to pursue it. And so it is that we go about the business of peeling off the lies here, of locating that center amongst the petals of rhetoric. Whatever the cause, I am driven to seek core arguments, to push away the decorations and trappings of our discourse, and to try to assert what really matters.
What matters today is the roiling exposure of authoritarianism on the left. It is symptomatic of the Neoprogressive reach, which is itself symptomatic of the neoconservative reach. Most of those who self-identify with the left, and that includes disaffected Clinton supporters (DCS), would agree that one of the goals of the neocon faction was to drive the center into solidly conservative territory. Parties who succeed in getting their opposition to join them don’t have to compromise much, do they? As I have noted in many posts at P&L, this election season is littered with what must look like delicious irony from the outside. It hurts like hell from the inside, but those with no vested interested must be howling their asses off at how quickly things have flipped.
Sadly, the Democratic Party, long billed as the Party for Women, has attempted to drive the ultimate wedge to prevent a feminist revival. Ironically, while they have succeeded in their own party, they have failed in the culture at large. PUMA and the choices DCSs make November 4th, as well as the attention they have gained and the momentum they have achieved have already constituted a revival among some women. The New Democratic Coalition, a.k.a. the Progressive Dude Nation, has already demonstrated its tolerance for sexism and authoritarianism, as well hypocrisy, which they display so aggressively and to such effect when they pursue Republican strategies they were railing against four and eight years ago. And they continue to be oblivious to their own weaknesses. The consequence is fuel for that feminist revival.
A couple of days ago I published a post called More Politics of Fear. I hesitated to publish it at the time because it was critical of two of the more respected bloggers in the DCS-sphere (doesn’t quite have the PUMAsphere ring, does it?). I think it was a good post and people responded to it, but I hadn’t realized at the time I posted it that I wasn’t done fleshing my issues out. This morning I realized two things: a) I am hurt by the argument that anyone who casts a vote for John McCain can’t possibly be a progressive, and b) what troubles me most about the argument is not the hurt, but what the argument says about the infiltration of authoritarianism on the left. To argue that one’s identity is tied to one vote, like the helix in mortal coil, is to make an authoritarian argument. As I said in More Politics of Fear, it is akin to the old one-drop rule, or the structure of the Indian caste system. There’s also another institution that practices that kind of rhetoric; it’s called a church.
But there’s a softer side to this authoritarianism too. It is personified in the I-could-never-vote-for-a-Republican-but-I-can’t-blame-you DCS. I know a lot of people like this, and I don’t judge them either. Everybody owns their vote. But I must take this moment to ask you if you are of this mindset: Do you think the Democratic Party will suddenly feel like home November 5th? Do you entertain fantasies that all of this madness will go away once the election is over?
How quickly we forget, sadly if we ever knew, the struggles of Stanton and Anthony, and Paul and Burns. Do you think that any one of those great, fearless women would have hesitated to cross a party line in the effort to secure a right for women? Did Alice Paul ever say, “I’m sorry Mr. Wilson, but you belong to a war-mongering party, so I can’t possibly petition and lobby you for relief”? And isn’t respect for and power for women, the opportunity for them, finally, a right worth securing? Women have the opportunity this year like no other to emerge as a super-constituency, to force both parties to notice and respond to us and some of our issues. It’s already working on one side of the aisle, even as it exposes deeply troubling sexist rhetoric on the left. That sexism will not magically disappear on November 4th. If Obama wins, the beast will just be caged until he and his faction need it again. If he loses, it will get worse, much worse for a while, before it gets better.
If we are an Army of Monsters in the eyes of the left, why does it matter if you cast a protest vote for John McCain? Have you ever considered that a huge feminine swing toward McCain as a result of his Palin pick may be all that is necessary now to achieve that super-constituency? And have you considered what a valuable opportunity this might provide Americans to reform the Republican Party? What if we could tame those beastly factions within it, and jerk the Republican Party more to the mainstream? What delicious irony, right? I certainly think that’s a much more (and truly) progressive strategy than adopting wholesale corrupt Republican strategies to win, all the while hypocritically claiming to hold on to liberal values.
I’ve recently given some thought to this whole notion of labels. I said in Barry and The Neoprogs that progressive was a good word for them because all they cared about was naked progress in the form of winning. They weren’t concerned with the long-term in the least. Joseph Cannon over at Cannonfire recently articulated the better argument against progressives. To wit:
As readers know, I am careful to describe my politics as “liberal,” not progressive. What’s the difference?
ALL PROGRESSIVES LIE. ALL.
Bolding his. I think that’s generally, though not so stridently, true because I can understand the distinction now between a liberal and a progressive. It’s basically the difference between the Stevensonian and FDR coalitions Anglachel articulated so well a while ago. And the Stevensonian faction, make no mistake, has been the one consistently flirting with conservative values and candidates over the last 40 years. Now that the convention is over, though, it’s not just that faction that is expressing its authoritarian beliefs. Unwittingly infected themselves, some of those on the left, especially those who left working class culture in the dust when they succeeded in bettering themselves, but who have preserved an affection for it, are now spouting these ridiculous purity arguments, either for others or for themselves.
As a Midwestern Democrat-turned-independent, a voter in a swing state planning to vote McCain/Palin, I have to ask myself, are we going to be expected to do the heavy lifting this November, even as we get no credit, and suffer ridicule for it? In case you weren’t aware, in the wake of the sham Convention, you have only two choices: Obama or Nobama.
If Obama wins, his faction gets credentialed and their values get adopted in the DP, but if Obama loses, and regardless of what happens in the Republican Party, none of that other stuff happens in the DP. This election has already proven to be the strangest in my lifetime and a lot longer, and I really can’t believe anyone in any red or blue state can feel certain they know how their state will go. How can they just kick back and rest assured that they won’t have to violate any personal values to achieve their goal of Nobama, without even trying to self-reflect on whether or not the value that argues all Republicans are evil is even rational? Leave it to the close-minded hicks in those swing states, right? Ain’t that the mother of all ironies?
Note: Whatever minor issues I may have with Anglechel over this particular rhetorical aside, I still think she is the best political analyst in the DCS-sphere by far. I do not speak for Murphy or other PUMAs either, only for myself.

Sorry, that’s supposed to read, “Murphy or other PUMAs.” I’m only speaking for myself. And ultimately, I support everyone’s right to choose their own candidate. I will just occasionally take the opportunity to try to offer a new viewpoint so people have other ways to look at a situation and decide.
“Do you think the Democratic Party will suddenly feel like home November 5th?”
Are kidding. They do this stupid junk every time. When was I not mad at them. Kerry looked good at first and then his speeches and debates showed he sucked.
They need to do a lot of meditating and self reflection and some “we are sorry” be for I ever feel positive about them again.
The Dems do this all the time.
Hi Everyone!
Good post, Annabelle!
Woo Hoo!
#4 My best yet!!
Did Gibson have a double standard for Palin?
http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/13/did-gibson-have-a-double-standard-for-palin/
look for this as well
Update: Newsbusters takes a look at the full transcript and finds some interesting answers left out of the broadcast portions of the interview.
On Gretawire there is a list of newpaper web sites – on the right hand side. I go to “contact” and e-mail them. Today, I e-mail Ohio re: possible voter fraud.
I usually ask them a question – like – “Do you plan to investigate possible voter fraud”? or “Have your readers expressed concerns re: voter fraud”?
I don’t lecture. Just try to put the idea in their head.
hi missy and everyone
much new?
good day my little nobamies
today is a beautiful day, especially for nobamies
good idea Stoney plant that seed.
I’ve not been home today. Is there anything else going on besides Ike? I hope that the people that didn’t leave made it out alright. I was watching the local Houston feed on Directv last night and some of the stories from the people staying behind was on my mind as the storm moved in. The main one was the elderly man named Ray that stayed behind in the Galvaston Bay area. His wife had recently passed away and he didn’t want to leave their home. So sad!
#3 Shampootva, to be fair, most of the PUMAs have gravitated to McCain since the Palin announcement. I think I wrote this right after that, but I still think it can offer some pretty compelling arguments for people who may still be on the fence.
Thanks #5 Hillgirl. Glad you liked it!
annabelle:
I admire you: articulate, knowledgable, and thoughtful.
Of course, I also happen to agree 100% with your position. My four grandparents were immigrants who struggled to survive and provide for their families. My father became a teacher; he also struggled to provide for his family. As his children rose in their occupations and incomes, he expressed gratitude to this country for what it offered. I disagreed with him often about the way this country has been headed, but until this year I have never been so scared. I have always been Independent with a Democrat leaning, but this year I too will vote McCain/Palin. Thank you for this post.
Oh, by the way, I contributed, per the rules for posting first in a thread (which I did in the last one), to PUMApac earlier today.
stoney42 hey how’s it going, my husband likes your name.MissyD77 hello.. #7 will13smith I saw something like that last nite isn’t that just make you sick…
Annabelle – Wow!!! I am going to print that out and share.
for anyone interested – (and I apologize if this has already been posted by others) this is a link to read the interview of Palin by Gibson, but it includes the parts they edited out. And they do make a difference in her message!

I think many join you from all parties. This is a year like no other. I am a Dem but will vote McCain. I had decided before Palin but she does make it easier.Bo is the most radicle and fearful person I have ever encountered.
Politics is getting to be a difficult subject to speak about around here in WV. I have been faced with so many people that absolutely hate *61, but feel that they must vote a straight ticket! This is insane!!!! I have been getting so many migraine headaches after having it out with them! But we must fight on to keep *61 from destroying this country! How is it for you all??
be back soon tcb4n
Thank you californiagirl and Lin4Hill. I appreciate the feedback so much.
I’m withyou onthis. I’ve been a Dem all of my 46 years. I first voted for Carter in 1980. BUt the DNC has decided to ignore the wishes of the people it represents and have decided to run the game on their terms.
I’d rather work with the GOP at this point and see if we can pull them back to center. At least they are listening to us and seem to be trying to align with the people.
I’m all for additional third parties, too! I will support the actions of any movement that behaves responsibly to our choices!
missyd..
maybe you aren’t saying the right things??
and hear, hear, annabelle!!!!
The “delicious irony” is the means to a most wonderful beginning.
On the other hand…The Dems (if they win) will have won on their despicable terms, their deceit, their disregard for what women were pleading for, and will not bother to change. Do we get seconds? Do they tell us, “Okay, now we got what we want, so we’ve proven we didn’t really, really need you.” Do they diminish us further???
We have a chance to turn all of this around on a single crack in that ceiling…….
My family and friends will be voting for McCain/Palin this November. We will be voting Republican for Governor, Senate, Congress, and Treasurer. The voting for good guy Democrats are Secretary of State, Commissioner of Agriculture, and (2) State Supreme Court Justices. Everyone else are traitors as far as I am concerned!!! This is the WV ticket. I’m not pressing people to vote my way, but I do my best to inform them about the people running for office.
annabelle, you are MOST welcome
bbl – gotta run
I agree, Lin4Hill. Sometimes it cracks me up how much I worried all spring long about what Obama would have to give evangelicals and Republicans in return for their vote. Now it seems so obvious to me…Republicans will have to give us WOMEN something if they want to keep that voting block. They are most likely to offer that in the beginning, to secure a new voting pattern. We better pick wisely!
jane-pa:
I hope so. My sister fell in line with BO almost immediately, swept away by his charisma and “eloquence.” We tried talking about it, but she kept dismissing me as being silly when I raised objections. We don’t even talk anymore. She is adamant; so am I, so I guess we just cancel each other’s vote.
MissyD77 -
I am in S.C., mostly Republicans, so I do not have your problem.
However, I am going to visit my daughter in Maryland in a few weeks, and plan to take flyers.
caligal..
i know you love her but your sister is a sucker
Occasionally I check what TM is saying. Very good news there today … for us!
Barack Obama could be on the verge of falling out of contention in Florida.
Despite spending an estimated $8-million on campaign ads in America’s biggest battleground state and putting in place the largest Democratic campaign organization ever in Florida, Obama has lost ground over the summer. Florida has moved from a toss-up state to one that clearly leans toward John McCain, fueling speculation about how much longer the Democratic nominee will continue investing so heavily in the state.
http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/state/article808637.ece
Annabelle, I do agree that as a voting block women, at least the women who are PUMAs, are in a position to negotiate with the GOP and perhaps to change the overall complexion of the party. I think we need to be organized and have our own platform, as Murphy has suggested. I don’t think our goal is to reform the GOP, but we might have an opportunity to get our concerns about sexism heard and addressed. The DNC does not seem in the least interested, but at the GOP convention they did not hesitate to stand up for their female candidate.
americanway..
its nice to hear that floridians are wising up to obama
Oh well, I was still posting downstairs!

A word about Lou Dobbs…He tells the TRUTH and has been known to apologize if proven wrong. (Refreshing already ain’t it.) I don’t agree with Dobbs on everything but, the man puts this country first whether it is popular or not and is EXTREMELY intelligent. He has won nearly every journalistic award there is and is a credentialed economist. Oh, he also has one rare gift that many of the very intelligent lack…he will listen. He, Bill and Hillary and McCain are the very few that have that rare ability that I can think of offhand.

#31 Hillgirl, I plan on faxing McCain regarding the drilling in ANWR which I am totally against. I don’t care how good the technology is, why can’t we have one thing that isn’t trashed? What we need are economy fuel standards and that will save us a bundle. Bill Nelson, FL senator, has had bills before the senate on this and they always get voted down!! Lobbyists control Washington. I hope Sarah doesn’t convince McCain to drill there as he was against it.
By the way, where is Murphy? i must have missed something.
ladyhawke….i plan on sending a lengthy letter to my congresswomen and senators of a plan i have to drastically reduce gas usage for the sake of conservation and cutting down on our oil dependencies..
my proposal is to BAN all school busing in all forms for the sake of desegregation.I propose that all students attend the schools that are nearest to them.i think this plan would cut down our oil usage by millions of barrels of oil each year and help us move towards greater energy independence
Quote for the day:
‘Whatever you give a woman, she’s going to multiply. If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So – if you give her any crap, you will receive a ton of shit in return!’
Have a good day – ladies, I know you are going to pass this on.
Murphy is out of town for the weekend. I’m sure she’ll be checking in later tonight or tomorrow. I’m just helping out while she’s gone.
osasa puma that would be fine if the schools are in walking distance and it is safe to do so we have no sidewalks in our town and very little shoulder to the roads it would be unsafe.
Murphy is at a wedding.
I am pleased w/ the tone of this blog today.
I will add that the democrats dismissed us for months, assuming we would eventually “come” to our senses.
McCain listened and offered something.
I am not a fool, I know if Hillary were on our ticket, Palin would not be on his.
But he listened and he wants our votes.
I will NEVER forget the evening I heard Donna Brazile say “we don’t need those votes, we have all these fresh new democrats coming into the party” (actually- I am paraphrasing, not directly quoting so sorry for the quotation marks)- that was one of the “Nail in the coffin” moments for me.
I realized I am taken for granted by my former party.
BTW- received these links from Normita today, looks like the Republicans actually pay women fairly instead of the lip service the democrats give about equal wages…

Osaka, what a novel idea! I’ll have to think about that. hmmm. No bussing. Wow.
annabelle..i think its a great idea that could get alot of support
oops sorry for the double.Consider yourself twice congratulated ananbelle!
“most of the PUMAs have gravitated to McCain since the Palin announcement.”
———————————————————-
Upon what are you basing this statement, please?
sorry
i agree with dances earlier post where she stated that a vote for mccain palin would be the most effective protest vote..i agree 100%
Thanks annabelle! I also enjoyed your post. It was very thought provoking.
Thanks Sunshine and Sue.
Dances, my apologies, I should have prefaced that with “I think.” That’s just my opinion based on observation. I could be wrong. I don’t have any data to back that up.
I agree also for what its worth
I do think it’s th emost effective protest vote too. And I also loved seeing that someone here (I forget who) actually showed the math in a comment earlier. They were talking about an election with 100 and 50 on each side. It was very effective.
some of these idiot democrats are all parroting the same stupid line some moron made up..”jesus christ was a commmunity organizer, pontious pilate was a governor”..
isn’t that the most idiotic crap you ever heard?
Well, I let my prescription to Time Magazine expire because of its slant to the Chosen One. A few days ago I gave in to their incessant call for me to re-subscribe. While at the supermarket a little while ago I picked up a Time magazine because it had a picture of Sarah on the cover. I looked at the article and to my dismay it had a quote in boxed, bold print that declares that Sarah ordered some books be banned from the library. Of course, we know that that claim is false, but not everyone who reads the magazine knows that. To make this rather long story short, when I returned home a few minutes ago the first thing I did was CANCEL my new subscription.
lilibet..Time magazine..
they’ve become a yuppy version of “readers digest”
#57 lilibet – I cancelled my Time mag subscription this year also – had been a subscriber for about 30 years – told them on the return form that when they decided to portray Hillary fairly and quit drinking the kool aid for Nobama, I would consider resubscribing – guess I won’t bother -
reading an entire issue of Time magazine is equivalent to eating a whole loaf of white bread.. ..hehehe
#35 Ladyhawke, Yes, that is what I mean. If we agree as a block on the most important issues that need to be addressed in the Republican platform as barter for our votes. Perhaps we can make a difference. Maybe I am just dreaming, but it is a good dream!
osaka: eating white bread is a NO NO for me so I guess I did the right thing by canceling.
lilibet..i get my best news information from the internet now..
i also for this election like to hear right wing talk radio..because they are the only ones making any criticism of obama
I love this post and agree wholeheartedly. I just wanted to add something that was at NQ and really expemplifies what we are fighting against this election season. Should Bo get into office, I really fear this type of mentality. It’s disturbing.
Larry at Nq writes:
“Let’s start with Michael Seitzman, who wrote the screenplay for North Country, a drama starring Charlize Theron who played the role of a woman who worked in an iron ore mine in Minnesota, was sexually harassed, sued and won. Excuse my profanity, BUT JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS ASSHOLE? Seitzman gets creds in Hollywood for writing a fictional account of a lone woman battling the big, bad world of miners, unions, and management. His story is not what really happened, but who cares, it made a good story. So yesterday he writes this trash”:
I realized three things tonight. For one, if you are a McCain/Palin/Bush voter, you and I do not have a difference of opinion. We have a difference in brain power. Two, she really is as ignorant as I feared. And, three, she really is kinda hot. Basically, I want to have sex with her on my Barack Obama sheets while my wife reads aloud from the Constitution. (My wife is cool with this if I promise to “first wipe off Palin’s tranny makeup.” I married well.)
Now, I want to be clear and speak directly to those of you who LOVED that Palin interview. You’re an idiot. I mean that. This is not one of those cases where we’re going to agree to disagree. This isn’t one of those situations where we debate it passionately and then walk away thinking that the other guy is wrong but argued well. I’m not going to think of you as a thoughtful but misguided person with different ideas who still really cares about the country and the world. No, sorry, not this time. This time, if you watched those interview excerpts and weren’t scared out of your freakin’ mind, then you’re mentally ill, mentally disabled, or mentally disturbed. What you are NOT is responsible, informed, curious, thoughtful, mature, educated, empathetic, or remotely serious. I mean it.
—————————————————————–
I for one am so disturbed after reading this trash. He is basically saying he wants to rape Gov. Palin with his wife watching. Sick Sick Sick.
I read that post , too and I agree..I felt dirty and sick and left the page as quickly as I could and cleaned my computer.I want no traces of trash like that on my machine! If obama gets elected , I think we can look forward to a bigger disrespect for women coming into play.Obaam just does NOT respect women..it is very clear in his action sand his tacit aprroval of the blogs and people who are supporting him with the trash they are spweing about women in general. They are calling it all “Sarh”…but don’t be folled for a minute. This kind of behavior will emcompass ALL women!!
It is scary to me , too, just how many WOMEN are supporting him with trash from their mouths and blogs!! Don’t they realize this nastiness will be turned on them if he gets elected??
Like Osaka puma, I too listen to right wing talk radio. I listen to Sean Hannity at 4 pm (EST). I started listening to him to see how bad he was talking about Hillary. Then I started listening because he was ripping Obama. Now I listen everyday and find I agree with things he says other than about Obama. I have NO problem what so ever voting for McCain/Palin. I don’t agree with all their views, but I think Sarah Palin is great.
This week (Tuesday and Wednesday night on Fox News) Hannity will be interviewing Gov. Palin. I know he will be kind and supportive to her and give her the voice she deserves.
I spent my entire life as a very left wing liberal, and if I can vote McCain so can anyone. I think if you want to defeat Obama, you have got to bite the bullet. Putting down Pumapac on the ballot, could allow Obama to win. Thank you for listening.
That was a great post, Annabelle.
This is an historic election.
If, after all this disgusting sexist, Palin-bashing, McCain is defeated, women will be back in the corner for the next 25 years. Bank on it.
So, if you want some real progress for girls and women over the next 20 years, vote McCain only. Do not gamble with the chance of an Independent/ Bush/Gore upset such as happened in 2000.
And don’t assume that your state is “safe”. Or that your state is “too blue” for your McCain vote to matter.
It’s War, People.
his behavior to me is like a teen-age high-school-boy who just discovered his sexuality…it’s like a drug to him and he is just bathing in it’s glow… he has no intentions of stopping them from spewing all the nasty stuff..NONE..it’s too enjoyable to him.
I was just reading Erik Erikson in preparation for a class I teach and I came upon this quote. In 1950, Erikson wrote in his book Childhood and Society: “National Socialist Germany has provided a clear-cut illustration of the fact that advancing civilization is potentially endangered by its own advance, in that it splits ancient conscience, endangers incomplete identities, and releases destructuve forces which now can count on the cold efficiency of the super-managers” (p. 327). This just struck me as so insightful and prophetic as applied to what is happening today.
#60 Susie1945 and #58 lilibet hopefully they will call or write you about why you left and then you can tell them….
YOUR IN THE TANK FOR BO
#66 beverl leslie what the heck is that disgusting sick trash from…??????
beverlie leslie – I was just commenting to my sister that you have to build a titanium suit of armor when you put yourself in the national political limelight. God help them all–the visciousness comes from the lowest of the low, but unfortunately, it’s put out for all to see and read and be persuaded by. It is sickening.
I just watched the Gibson interview of Palin (we had taped it for later). The intro by K. Snow was full of hate and general negativity. (Where IS Donna B. when you need her reminding people to “stop the hate”?) I could not imagine that any intro for BO would have been that vile. And Gibson??? Who made him God?

I know lies and slander are nothing new in this world, but I had hoped when I grew up, that my generation would have made this a more honorable place.

I would like to make a suggestion. This goes back to an old post of mine about PUMA integrating into Republicans to get our agenda. My suggestion is this.
Try to take the opposite view. Try to argue the other side. Try to open your mind to see there is meaning and sensible thought to the other side.
I really want this on ALL issues not this one. However, this is a nice example. So let us look at Sarah Palin’s argument each item by item she mentions and see if there is some common sense in what she says. Remember to keep our mind open to listen.
If we could do this on ALL issues, I know we PUMA could revolutionize both parties. We could rise to super power status. It is the arguing and bickering that turns off everyone. But if we can come at any and all issues with an open mind to both sides and see the good for both sides it will be wonderful.
I maintain there are good arguments on both sides for drilling in ANWR. I propose that instead of staking out a position and arguing that position that we more carefully and open minded look at the opposing side and find the good. Now that we know the GOOD of the other side we can sit down and do the same for our side. Take out just the good from our side.
Now having the good from both sides we think creatively and energetically and loving and come up with the best of both side. We find a solution that contains the good for both sides. Maybe, just maybe the good from both sides is better than arguing only one side.
I will state that I believe that we can carefully tap some energy out of ANWR without harm to the environment and to the betterment of everyone. But it will best be done as a cooperation of everyone. A striving for the good and best out of all sides of the issue.
Conservation and the Environment are an idea, a guiding principal, not an absolute God.
My idea is that the real problem with conservation and the environment is the population explosion which no one seems to want to talk about. Imagine for a moment that this world had 1 billion people instead of 7 billion people going on to 15 billion people. I maintain if we had a steady not increasing population of 1 billion people almost all problems in society would immediately disappear. it is the coming together too closely of people that causes psychological problems that are not solveable except by getting more free space for each person.
For example I believe that the major cause of more wars is the increasing population. If you think that the world has problems between Muslims and Christians now just try to imagine the problems we will have with a world population of 100 billion or 200 billion. It obviously will happen that both will not be able to exist on this planet together. One will lose to the other.
Any news about our Texas Pumas?
KR – It is war on so many levels. And I fear, deeply fear, that if BO wins, his minions of smugs and thugs will carve deeper wounds in our society. He’s not a shaman–he’s a sham.

I know, the into to the Gibson interview was sooo negative. Even Charlie at the end when he turns it over to the panel. Something else I saw last night that disturbed me was the youtube of John Mccains interview on the View. Downright disrespectful and full of disdain. Especially Babara Walters and Whoopi, I was embarrased watching it and deeply bothered. You don’t have to agree with John Mccain on issues but I think the man deserves a little more respect.
Yes, beverl leslie –I saw that ending coming (Gibson interview), and just had to turn it off. I’d had enough. I watch to learn. I have my own ears and eyes. I can observe the body language myself. I don’t need the talking heads telling me how she did. I know how she did. When will they get it that we have brains and that we are rational thinking adults? I don’t need their spin.
I have to turn the TV off a lot lately these days, and I’m so glad I missed The View. What a shame!
GoHillaryGo – very good points you make

I agree with your statements and I believe if we stay engaged and engage Mccain on the anwar issue, if he does become president, he will listen. I think stepping up contributions to environmental causes also helps.
okay, now this is just weird. It appears that I am the only one blogging….hee hee

I haven’t watched any news since S.C. dem primary. Now I have the stomach to occasional watch something, like last night. Otherwise, I watch it on youtube, it’s a way for me to hear everyone else report on it and then brace myself for the oncoming disaster.
As I’ve posted on AOL, Savage et al, I am a FEMINIST, first, last and always! So yesiree Bob, I will now vote for the McCaIN/PalIN ticket! I really think that NOW is time for we women to make a united statement! Call me bitter, an over-50, white female (which I am), call me anything but an Obamatron! Not even if my heroine, Hillary, asks me to be! Maybe it’s ‘easier’ for me because I’ve always been an Independent (who gave the Dems a chance until they turned on Hillary), but with Johnny Mac making his brilliant move, I will now have NO PROBLEM voting for a Republican presidental ticket. Strange times indeed…
This was a fantastic post that needs to reposted all over the ‘net! It sure feels great join with my sisters-in-arms and to be a SavagePU(wo)MANoDealer! Rock the vote, ladies!
I cancelled my subscription to the New Yorker because they–in spite of all their supposed fact checking–wrote in an introductory article about Palin that she had banned some books.
How long until the magazines will turn against Obama? They have helped him all along, but ultimately, the media are bootlickers, and when Obama sinks, will they sink with him? I don’t think so.
In fact, the media may soon be quite ready to accept stories about the fraud and DNC manipulation during the primaries and the convention. So, great writers, start submitting articles. I sense the wind shifting.
Wow!, beverl leslie–that’s a long sabbatical from the news, and yet–it’s the way of the world now. That alone should tell these smug anchors that their “good opinion” is not as valued as they once thought. I have an old computer and can’t access the YouTube bits–will have one someday. News travels really fast with that medium, and that’s the message of today.
#87 BETSYFROMTEXAS
Go Betsy!!!
I don’t post often. But I’m stepping up on the soapbox for this post.
I think JFK’s quote “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” applies to this election on many levels. From a time when being a Democrat was still democratic.
First, we all need to vote country before party. We know that we can’t allow Obama into the White House. As individuals we must decide the most effective way to cast our vote to reach our goal. For me, here in NV, I’ll vote McCain. It’s too close here to take a chance and I truly believe McCain is the best choice (of the one’s we have; once again we are being for to choose the lesser of two evil, imho) to protect our country.
Second, all of the govt. programs Obama is espousing is nothing but a way for the govt. to make its citizens slaves (as posted previously). Too many in this country only want to know what they will receive from the govt. and what will be done for them. They don’t want to work for the American Dream, they want it served up on a silver platter. They swallow the govt. offerings whole with no thought of the consequences. One such consequence is the burden placed on the middle class to cover these programs, which, in turn is making the American Dream impossible for most to achieve.
How many of us heard from our parents “I had to walk 10 miles to school everyday” or something along those lines. Americans used to willingly do what they had to do to achieve their dreams. What happened? Too much technology? Too much liberal or conservative government? I don’t know. For decades our country has slowly been eroding, bit by bit. An Obama presidency will be devastating.
I think most of us here realize what has been happening. Obama, his DP cronies, his obots and the media can say we’re racist, we’re bitter, whatever. Let them, I don’t care about their words anymore. This movement, in the long run, is about saving our country. We can not afford to sit on a fence and we know it. Each and everyone one of us is asking, right now, everyday that we are involved in this movement, “what can we do for our country?”
I hope I make some sense to those of you who may read this. My emotions, anger, fear, disappointment, hope, have run the gamut for months and I’m having trouble putting my thoughts into words. My apologies. Okay, stepping down from the soapbox now.
#76 GoHillaryGo
I am not trying to be argumentative, I am asking you an earnest question: When we consider the ANWR question, should we consider the opinion of the people whose homeland you think we should “carefully tap?” The refuge is tiny and inconsequential as an oil source, but it is everything to the people who live there.
All I have ever asked is that people at least consider the viewpoint of the Gwich’in.
In their words:
“We are the Ones Who Have Everything to Lose”
“Maybe there are too few of us to matter. Maybe people think Indians are not important enough to consider in making their energy decisions. But it’s my people who are threatened by this development. We are the ones who have everything to lose.
The oil companies keep saying that all their roads and pipelines aren’t going to bother the caribou. But we know the caribou. We know they don’t like all that stuff, especially when they are having their calves. We are concerned about all the salt and chemicals they put on their roads. It can drain onto the tundra, get into the water, and be unhealthy for the young caribou. A report from the Canadian government tells us that the caribou have already been disturbed around the oil fields. If we lose the caribou there will be no more forever.”

Each time I bring this up I am either criticized or ignored, and I expect the same will happen this time too, but maybe one of these times, one of you will visit the website.
Ha, I’d be willing to bet that _both_ Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary will cast their votes for McCain/Palin this year.
It’s a secret ballot. Who better than them to know the importance of ending this nonsense for once and for all?
I know what _I’d_ do if I were in their shoes.
#76 Gohillarygo,
I agree with your post–if this election season has taught me anything, is that nothing is black and white and nothing is Republican/Democrat. Issues are not one dimensional and all issues require examination.
Yes! Betsey from Texas – It’s definitely a Big Chance to Make a Difference. Do we need writing on the wall?
Some of us have very good eyesight.
——————-
thecandypoem – Aren’t you shocked that The New Yorker wouldn’t even check their facts before they printed that lie? (re: burning of books)
Everything feels like an all-out attack on Governor Palin, from all sides, and she’s got to have an iron will to endure this. The intensity of their attack reveals their vulnerability. The Dems blew it and they know it.
————-
see ya later, PUMAs–
dcinlasvegas, I for one, was inspired. You too BetsyinTexas!
Bravo dcinlasvegas and betsyfromtexas!!!
has any one seen what the Polls are saying today?
Thank you annabelle and nokoolaid4me.
On a lighter note, did anyone receive the BO email “forward this email” about registering to vote? I hit reply and simply said “How about return to sender instead?
#76 GoHillaryGo ,
I like the way you view things. I wish others could too. I have many friends that are both democrat and republican. I have never lost a friend due to politics because we respect each other’s opinions even when we don’t agree. We must all learn to respect others for their opinions as long as they are not destructive or hateful, and if they are then the best thing to do is to distance yourself because you don’t want friends like that anyway.
I think McCain will only drill in Anwar (sp?) if the majoriy of Americans are okay with it. 70% of Americans want to drill but I don’t know what percentage wants to drill in Anwar. I do know that he respects the environment and will do whatever he can to ensure that it is done responsibly.
What a boring world this would be if we all agreed on everything
one last comment for a bit – dcinvegas – very heartfelt commentary. I also feel such rage and despair when I think of the handout nation we will become if BO wins. I already see it in my work community where people talk about the changes that are going to come when BO wins, and I’m appalled at their expectations. The true work ethic has eroded for years now, especially when you see young people having everything handed to them. My students have ipods, cellphones, expensive tennis shoes, go on cruises to the Bahamas, and yet receive free lunch subsidized by our government. There is something very wrong here, especially when they are expecting more from a BO win.
so, dcinvegas, stay on that soapbox–the view is clearer there.
—–must run, really–good evening to all.

Bringing this from the other board in case you missed it. It is a funny read.
Moonbats dropping like flies from PDS epidemic
By Howie Carr
It’s America’s newest disease – only diagnosed by some in the media a few days ago – but it is spreading among the nation’s Beautiful People at an alarming rate.
You know it by its initials – PDS. Palin Derangement Syndrome.
You can watch the victims of PDS on TV every night, frothing at the mouth in front of Obama banners, repeating scurrilous lies lifted from left-wing blogs or just making up new whoppers as they go along. It’s an epidemic – Palin Derangement Syndrome swept through MSNBC studios this week and claimed two anchors, who are survived by dozens of viewers.
The bad news is, PDS appears to be incurable. The good news is, it only strikes one demographic group – moonbats.
Like so many earlier plagues, PDS mutated from an earlier affliction, BDS, Bush Derangement Syndrome. But BDS often metastasized over months, if not years, and struck across the political spectrum.
Are you at risk of contracting this virulent contagion? Do you work for a living? If the answer to the latter is yes, the answer to the former is probably no.
You’ve heard of Typhoid Mary. PDS is spread by “Typhoid Sarah,” but it’s not infectious. It only strikes the Politically Correct. So far, it has struck only those who believe that 9/11 was an “inside job,” or who have “Redefeat Bush” bumper stickers on the backs of their Priuses.
Researchers racing for the cure say that sometimes a single word or term relating to Sarah can touch off a full-blown case of PDS – “pro-life” is one such predictive phrase, and others include “blue-collar,” “public school” and, most alarming of all, “mother of five.”
Let us consider a few case studies. A mere fortnight ago, most of these victims were clearly demented, but still able to function, at least among their own kind, the trust-funded idle rich.
First case: “Matt D.”
One day, Matt D. was just another liberal puke making lousy movies. The next, he had lost his mind, thanks to PDS. He made a videotape in which he impersonated an actuary, used the word “absurd” about 30 times, and then asked “if she thinks dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago”.
Remember, Matt D. believes that by buying “carbon credits,” he can personally stop the oceans from rising. Is this a guy who should be worried about somebody else’s wacky beliefs? Prognosis: Incurable.
Second case: “Carol F.”
No one had ever heard of this obscure Southern moonbat until Wednesday, when she suddenly blurted out that Sarah Palin’s “primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”
Later she apologized for her “clumsy” statement. What Carol F. really meant to say was that she hates Palin because she hasn’t had an abortion. Prognosis: Put her on suicide watch until 1-20-09.
Third case: “Joe B.” Normally considered nothing more than a plagiarizing blowhard, Joe B. was struck down with a particularly nasty strain of PDS – an overpowering depression and paranoia about his own worthlessness. Never one to speak succinctly, Joe B. suddenly became an even bigger windbag. Listen to this endless torrent of words in Nashua, N.H.:
“Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend; she is qualified to be president of the United States of America. She’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and, quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me, but she is first-rate.”
Prognosis: Verbal diarrhea poses no immediate danger to himself, but his audiences are increasingly falling into comas or trances.
Fourth case: “Barry O.”
Since first glimpsing Sarah, Barry O. has been unable to speak coherently, has talked of “wrecking havoc” and brought up his “Muslim faith” on national TV. Finally, in the grips of full-blown PDS, Barry slurred Sarah as a pig, and then claimed that he, not Sarah, was a victim – admittedly, his perennial fallback position, which has never failed him before.
Prognosis: Grave. Drs. Al Gore and John Kerry have been called to his bedside.

Now, why do you think that the Democrats are LYING about ANWR?
Remember when Al Gore said that the government should work to ARTIFICIALLY raise gas prices to $5 a gallon?
http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/anwr.asp
Well, Al Gore and his fellow Democrats have almost reached their goal!
Now that you know that the Democrats have been lying, what are you going to do about it?
You can start by forwarding this to everyone you know, so that they will know the truth.
P.S.: Drilling does not “destroy.” It creates jobs, resources and strengthens our economy; all while protecting our environment. Everyone benefits, even caribou.
I’ve been lurking here for awhile and I just have to say how good it is to see women of different backgrounds, beliefs, etc. coming together to end sexism and abuse of women. Even though I’ve been a strong supporter of women’s rights since I was a young girl, I’ve always felt on the outside of feminist causes because I am pro-life. I’m hoping the PUMAs will stand up for all women.

Lin4Hill-
I agree that if McCain loses this thing, it will definitely get worse for women.
You don’t unleash the amount and kind of vile sexism that’s been so freely floated around by everyone- other women included!- and not get repercussions from that.
I just can’t believe the sh*t I’ve seen in the daily papers and heard on the street and over the public airwaves (women with children can’t lead, pictures of Palin as Marilyn Monroe in the “wind up the skirt” scene, photoshopped pix of her looking like a crazed, gun-toting maniac WEARING a BIKINI. etc.)
She’s a SMART, COMPETENT woman for Petes’ sake. Why do people, men AND women, who disagree with her stands on isssues feel that it’s “just fine” or “funny” to attack her in this manner?
Even during the most controversial years or months of the Feminist Movement back in the 70′s, I do not recall this kind of public attack on a woman, and by extension, all women. Behind closed doors maybe, but in a Public Forum? No way.
It’s got to be nipped in the bud or we can all just fuggedaboutit.
The only way to nip it in the bud is to get this woman in Office so she can prove to these dipshits that she can handle the job.
And I’m sure that, if anyone can “handle the job”, it’s Sarah Palin.
Excellent post! I too have solid blue collar, FDR and McGovern Dems background. I am hoping the Democratic Party can be saved for the average American family and individuals. This election needs to send a solid message to the Collectivist Alinskyite Authoritarian Marxists. No Way. No How. Not Now. Not Ever.
I believe that voting for Sarah Palin’s ticket is going to ring a bell for muscular feminism and rugged individualism, as well as begin the process of political reform from the very top. I am looking for the day when down ticket candidates are ringing that bell too.
Now back up top to read.
#108 GAPeach,
I think Sarah Palin will bring together women from both sides because she respects other’s views. Let’s hope so. We need a woman in the whitehouse to represent us. It is our time.
Any Akron area Ohio people planning to go to the rally that Hillary is having in Akron tomorrow?
I am thinking about going but would really like some fellow puma’s along.
Guy’s this is Important !!! Check this out.
BREAKING: ABC News GETS BUSTED! HA!
little exemple:
Next we see that Palin was not nearly as hostile towards Russia as was presented in the edited interview:
GIBSON: Let me ask you about some specific national security situations.
PALIN: Sure.
GIBSON: Let’s start, because we are near Russia, let’s start with Russia and Georgia.
The administration has said we’ve got to maintain the territorial integrity of Georgia. Do you believe the United States should try to restore Georgian sovereignty over South Ossetia and Abkhazia?
PALIN: First off, we’re going to continue good relations with Saakashvili there. I was able to speak with him the other day and giving him my commitment, as John McCain’s running mate, that we will be committed to Georgia. And we’ve got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable and we have to keep…
GIBSON: You believe unprovoked.
PALIN: I do believe unprovoked and we have got to keep our eyes on Russia, under the leadership there. I think it was unfortunate. That manifestation that we saw with that invasion of Georgia shows us some steps backwards that Russia has recently taken away from the race toward a more democratic nation with democratic ideals. That’s why we have to keep an eye on Russia.
And, Charlie, you’re in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. They’re very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.

just remember a vote for McCain/Palin 08 = a vote for Clinton/ 2012…
Great post annabelle.
One thing also to note is that the Republicans had an open forum with the people to set policy. I’m an independent. I liked Hillary and I liked McCain. I imagined a Presidential race with them as being about the issues, but still friends at the end of the day.
I vote for Democrats and I vote for Republicans. In the end for me it is about voting for good people that are for America and average Americans. Good people can change party politics for the good. Obama is not good people.
I’m pulling the lever for McCain/Palin. I may not always agree with them, but they are good hard working politicians. My downticket is mixed based on voting for good people.
Knowing that Obama has a hit squad in Alaska with an anonymous tip line like Sarah belongs on America’s Most Wanted has only strengthened my resolve.
Go PUMA’s
#92 Bluejay – and without fail – I continue to ask you – What is the solution? You always post the link or the ANWR link. But do you mind posting what you think the solution would be in meeting American and Global Energy needs?
Yes, I believe in all forms of energy and in environment!
change party politics for the better. Sorry for the grammatical error.
Murphy and annabelle -
Concerning the top post, great observation and read.
I have been thinking of many of the things you touched upon since Biden was picked as VP. Up until that point, I was holding out on my decision as to how I would vote if Hillary was picked.
So, since that is no longer a choice I have struggled with the decision to punish my party for its election crimes, and rewarding a party I have almost nothing in common with besides the ‘Sunday faces’ of both Palin and McCain are very likable on tv.
Since my main concern is some day going back to the Democratic party if the ‘corruptness’ is elimated to ‘normal’ standards, I wonder if something can be done to make the next four years of the Republican party something most of us would feel more comfortable with.
Although McCain is an outsider in his party I am not sure how far he would go to win this election by pulling in ‘temporary independent’ voters. Would he be willing to pledge to us that he will do the following:
1. Put in centralist minded judges to the supreme court, not over turning Roe vs Wade.
2. Work across the isle to assure some sort of health care to American’s that don’t have any.
3. Promise never to start a war without approval of the congress and documented proof of his reasoning.
4. Allow drilling up to each state.
5. Talk a vote of the American public as to if they want Nuke sites.
6. Work across the isle to support green energy and global warming.
Most of these things he has mentioned leaning toward.
What if we did a prowl and told McCain that most PUMAs would like his assurance that he would be willing to meet us half way on these (or other issues, we could discuss before) to award our vote to him, also as a clear protest vote against Obama and the DNC for voter fraud, etc.??????
Seems as if this is the war of the left/right wings. Perhaps Hillary was the middle/moderate. BO and Hillary taught me a lot about the left wing of politics, i.e., the DNC of this era. I never realized that there was such a ‘far left wing’ and how many democratic politicians were enveloped in it. I enjoyed watching Hillary mature during the time after Feb 3rd. But I was very disappointed that she caved into the DNC at the convention. I may not understand her motives, however, I continue to respect her as a woman who has dedicated her life to this country.
I could never vote for *61. I do not see any growth in him for this country. His immaturity, egocentric, narcissistic, need for power does not serve the whole; does not unify. Women are not a focus of his campaign committee. His supporters did not come forth to unify the DNC.
McCain has been consistent throughout the campaign. He and his wife serve this country; this world. In choosing Sarah Palin, he may have chosen to demonstrate what *61 did not do. His campaign is supported by many key – contributing American women. The RNC was unified by supporters.
In the last two weeks, we have witnessed the media’s destructiveness, *61′ s obsession with the star power of Sarah Palin. I realize that McCain is more moderate; that Palin is young and inexperienced with the national scene.
HOWEVER, I quickly remember that in the last 19 months *61 – the inexperienced one running for the Presidency – has not shown an ounce of growth and remains loyal to the very left liberals who bought and took the candidacy from Hillary.
In the last 2 weeks, Sarah Palin survived. We have learned much about her as a person. She stands exposed before us. *61 did not.
The next weeks will revealed more. However, I know that I cannot vote for the DNC’s choice of *61.
I will vote for McCain/Palin. If their platform is true, Washington will be reformed. The other ‘change’ I do not ‘get’ their concept.
texassherry – thanks for the update on prowland. i know there are many puma’s in texas along the gulf coast, but the post last night has haunted me, as prowland’s lights were flickering and she was feeling scared. really glad to know she and her family are ok.

OMG. Thankyou so much for posting that! The whole time I was reading it I was thinking, “Wouldn’t it be GREAT if this was taken from the editorial page of a big circulation newspaper like say, Boston Globe or LA Times?” But kept “thinking no way, it must be a blog post, no newspaper in the US would write something like that right now”.
Go Boston Herald!!!! Thankyou Howie Carr!!!! Hope there’s a reprint in the Sunday Seattle paper, and every other paper across the land.
OK. I’m off to go thank Howie.
From an article entitled “Bubba Bill Clinton to put buzz back in Obama”:
A public display of unity could rally Democrats and bring some buzz back to Obama in the same way that big-name endorsements from Senator Edward Kennedy and John Kerry, the 2004 candidate, helped to relaunch Obama after he lost key primaries to Hillary Clinton.

It took the Brits to print what we’ve known all along: there was TREASON in our party. I am so happy to see this in print, for now I shall spread it far and wide.
BLUEJAY
I did visit the site and I bookmarked it so that I can return when I have more free time. Thank you for pointing the Gwich’in site out. Some of us are unfamiliar with the peoples living closer to the artic circle and still following the ways of their “elders.” We do need to think carefully about this. Can it be resolved? Maybe not, but we must consider it from both sides and then do what is right.
#118 BillieJo ,
Most of your questions have been answered by McCain. If you go to his website and click on issues at the top of the page you can see his detailed stance on all of the issues. He has also said that he plans on putting people from all parties in his cabinet so as to be able to reach across the party line and accomplish things.
We can only hope that McCain means what he says, but because ALL politicians in the past have said one thing during their campaigning and another after being elected, we can only wait and see.
The media being in the tank for Obama is FACT. There are now four or five billionaires that own ALL of the television stations. For example MSNBC, the MS part is MicroSoft.
The New Yorker article that caused such an uproar over its cover art had an article on Obama that many overlooked. One of the things it reported was that Hugh Hefner(billionaire), gave Obama some “contacts” in both New York, (I had been wondering why Hillary’s own state newspaper was always attacking her) and Los Angeles. (The LA Times IS rather biased for BO isn’t it?) It is my own opinion that these were the contacts Hefner gave. They want a puppet that will do anything corporate America wants.
#122 Anna7000 ,
The latest news from Houston says that it will be 2-5 weeks before they restore power to that area.
I will sure miss Prowland especially since I was only supposed to help her on her website and now I have to keep it up and running by myself…oy ve I am glad I can visit over here. It is lonely over there without Prowland.
POLLS
Someone up thread wanted to know what was happening in the polls. Here you go:
Gallop Poll
http://www.gallup.com/home.aspx
McCain’s post convention bump has been steadily deflating.
Rasmussen Reports
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll
Shows McCain ahead in the polls, but still behind in the electoral college, though neither candidate according to their poll has enough electoral college votes to win.
Rasmussen Electoral Map

Real Clear Politics
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/
Check upper right hand corner; overall McCain up, but in breakdown of battleground states, Obama up in some, McCain up in others.
Iowa Electronic Markets

This market and other trading markets have been said to be more accurate predictors than standard polls.
SOON ALL OF THIS WILL BE IN THE ACTION CENTER!!!
POLLS AND ELECTION OUTCOME
It’s all going to come down to the electoral map and a handful of states that are going to swing this election one way or another. Those are the states we need to focus our energies in my opinion. All the rest won’t matter, at least in the short term, if our immediate goal is election day.
Done Anna7000.

annabelle – i think i missed something. what’s done? (lord, i wish it was my dinner, but i know that ain’t it!)
annabelle – never mind. i see. thanks.
I feel ya. I live here in San Francisco and imagine telling your friends you are voting for McCain! Never before have i felt so out-casted by my own kind. I am thinking of one night in particular going to a gay bar with my friend in the East Bay and then hearing this women rant about how Palin is a Moron and BO is the best. It was really horrible and i just had to walk out. I have considered my self pretty far to the left, but after seeing all of what happened and is happening i don’t feel so proud of being leftist. I definitely embrace the PUMA movement. And it feels good that i have a home here.

send this to murphy – we are compiling a state by state suggested ballot – don’t know if yours was done yet
I’m not pressing people to vote my way, but I do my best to inform them about the people running for office.
zrusilla – hi. never “saw” you on the blog before. anyway, thanks for posting the link. looks like a very interesting group. bookmarked it and will check it out in greater detail this week-end.

It is a place where pumas can go to get informationvent, and blog about McCain and Palin without disrupting the puma pac site’s agenda and goals.
texassherry – oh. thanks. that’s impressive that she/you both put that together. what a great way to have the best of both worlds.
#108GaPeach: Welcome! We will continue to stand against the sexist, denigrating, trashing of women delivered by the Obimbo undeground surrogates and the sleze of the Main Stream Media. What is being done to Sarah Palin has, as we all know, been done for many months to Hillary Clinton, and to any woman who dared stand up and speak her position on any subject in public that was not to the liking of the womenhaters.
We will not allow this to happen with impunity. We will defeat Obimbo and with him the denigration of women so practiced in the underbelly of his Alinsky amoral fraud of campaign.
Please, anyone that knows how to contact Bill Clinton needs to ask him NOT to campaign with Obama. He is deciding right now whether or not to. Here is the article…

Murphyyyyy, can we have a prowl on this?
Barack Obama new plan, lets claim everything McCain says about me is a LIE, kinda like what we did to Hillary when we made everything she said about me racist. Americans are to dumb to know better
#140 Anna7000,
She used to have a site for just Texas pumas but it never got used. She was going to delete it. We were talking about all the bickering that was going on here at the time over who everyone was going to support so I asked her if we could change the site to a safe place for McCain supporting pumas to blog. She liked the idea but said she would need my help. Anyway that is what we came up with and Will Bower saw the site and like it, and added it to the Just Say No Deal listing.

What you say about not knowing if they will keep their promise when they get in, is true. I only trusted Hillary’s word because she kept it.
Not Voting McCain
OK, just let me say I am not comfortable with our PUMA site proclaiming McCain endorsement on a weekend when many newbies may be visiting us. People, you have a right to vote whomever you want (& I’ll still love you, haha).
However, thought it a good idea to Re-Post Murphy’s statement from a week or so after Convention. This post is for the Newbies (guess that’s the Mother Hen in me).

WHAT IS PUMA?
N.O.T. (Nothing On Top) For Democrats 2008
Puma PAC, People United Means Action, is Protesting the 2008 Election. We are Democrats who will vote for President this year in Protest. We will not support the Selected presidential nominee. Millions of us will vote John McCain as a PROTEST against the DNC and the Obama Movement. Millions will vote 3rd Party or leave the top spot BLANK. Not because we are angry or bitter or sore losers. Not because we are shrieking holdouts. We are Protesting the 2008 Election because the DNC and the Obama Movement used dirty tricks and disenfranchisement to grab the nomination.
These are the Reasons for the Puma PAC Protest of the 2008 Election
* The DNC punished the VOTERS of Florida and Michigan with DISENFRANCHISEMENT. because of the actions of their elected officials. In Florida, Democratic VOTERS WERE DISENFRANCHISEDbecause of the shenanigans of a REPUBLICAN legislature.
* The DNC CHANGED THE VOTES of 600,000 Michiganders on May 31, 2008 when it stole 4 pledged delegates from one candidate and re-pledged them to another.
* The Obama Movement PAID THE SUPERDELEGATES who endorsed Senator Obama. Crucial Super Delegates pledged their support to Obama after the Obama Movement contributed tens of thousands of dollars to them. These were Super Delegates whose constituents had voted overwhelmingly for Senator Clinton in the the primaries.
* The DNC allowed sexist bias to HANDICAP the ONLY WOMAN in the race. When Tucker Carlson said that Hillary Clinton was a CASTRATOR, the DNC WAS SILENT. When Chris Matthews said that Bill Clinton’s INFIDELITY was the ONLY REASON for Hillary Clinton’s achievements, the DNC WAS SILENT. When the MEDIA CIRCUS unleashed a sexist onslaught of criticism against Senator Clinton regarding: her laugh, her cleavage, her pants, her wrinkles, her earrings, her “bitchiness,” her emotional “instability” the DNC WAS SILENT.
* The DNC and the Obama Movement SUPPRESSED THE VOTES OF CLINTON Delegates at the National Convention in Denver. On August 27th, 2008 the DNC and the Obama Movement maneuvered an undemocratic and underhanded voting script to ensure that Hillary Clinton’s pledged delegates (and the 18 million votes they represented) HAD NO VOTE. Entire state delegations were brow-beaten into voting Present or Passing their votes to other states. August 27, 2008 is a day that will live in infamy for the Democratic National Committee.
If you are a Democrat and you are FED UP with the DNC and the Obama Movement’s tactics, JOIN US! We are Protesting the 2008 Election.
Hi Billiejo & TexasSherry!
#145 BillieJo,
I am still hoping that McCain will include Hillary in his cabinet. They are good friends and work well together. If you listened to both of them…neither of them have insulted the other personally and in fact have complimented each other. They only differ on some of the issues but they respect each other. To me that would represent REAL change when the 2 parties can work together and actually get something done for the American people.
#119 SARTOM,
“I enjoyed watching Hillary mature during the time after Feb 3rd. But I was very disappointed that she caved into the DNC at the convention.”
Hillary’s no dummy, she beat Obama in many states where he outspent her 3-to-1, it was only the Caucus Fraud & Chicago corruption snatched the nomination from her. Never underestimate the power of threats by Chicago mobsters & others.
And never underestimate the power of Hillary to rise, Hillary, rise.
#146Hillistheone: Voting for McCain/Palin is one of the strategies articulated and put up as a thread re each state strategy just a couple of days ago. It is a strategy…The fact that a number of us are going to use it does not make that choice any more of a Pac position than the other possible choices articulated on that same thread. New people can understand that , just as easily as members who have been here for a while.
#146 hillstheone,
That is why Prowland made her website. I emailed Murphy about it to see about her referring people there for venting and then they could come back here and stay on track with the agenda. I don’t know if she didn’t see my email but I never got a reply. It has worked well for me. I was ready to leave pumas because I didn’t feel I could discuss my views openly. Now I go to the other website and let off steam and then come back here and get along
MARYLAND PUMA:
Last night’s post I forgot to list you as one of our leaders (I only listed Murphy & mamapuma). Dances reminded me in an email & I just wanted to say sorry I didn’t mean to leave your name off that post. Thanks for all you do.
And also to say it was fun meeting you in Denver!
Wow. Anaabelle that intro is brilliant. Best articulation of the independent movement I have ever heard.
As to this nonsense of Jesus of Nazarene beiung a “community organizer”. Maybe these poepel shouyld read a bible or three before making such ridsiculous comments.
Next time some parrot mouths that, tell them that Jesus challenged authority and condemned the orthodoxy for being corrupt.
When he was asked if they should stoene a woman for being an aldytress he said “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” Then he knelt down and started writing in the sand., It is widely, held that Jesus was writing the sins of the officials out for all to see.
As to Pontus Pilate, he asked the crowd who should be spared, since it was tradition that one condemned man be set free. The crowd chose a thief over Jesus because public opinion had been manipulated against Jesus. Pontus said” I was my hands of this.”
Now who do you think can draw parallels here? The obots? The democratic authorities?
Not a chance.
Disgusting obots.
BBL.
NewOrleansPUMA,
I hear you & agree, all I’m saying is that people come to a new website & make snap judgments, I didn’t want the newbies to run off scared thinking the “usual,” i.e., “They’re Republicans!” based on a McCain endorsement.
I guess I am tired of simplistic viewpoints which are running rampant this election year…
You are not going to believe this….
Someone actually made a U-Tube of the segment of Palin’s interview with the “Bush Doctrine” question and inserted alternating clips of a beauty contestant answering a political question. They posted it on Huffy. For those with a strong stomach, it is open for comment (bring your barf bag):

Good evening all.
I hope everyone is having a nice night.
I was on the AOL straw poll and BO is winning by 20%. I haven’t seen that in about 4 weeks.
To all our PUMAs in TX. Stay safe and dry.
#92 BLUEJAY I agree with you wholeheartedly. I do not need to consider whether it is wise to drill in ANWR. I’m with the Gwich’in. We have destroyed enough land in the world and do not need to damage the earth further. I’m concerned about clear cutting forests and filling in wetlands which is taking away habitat for all the wildlife and ruining the beauty of the earth around me. Bush has been the worst president as far as the environment goes. As I have previously discussed, fuel economy standards need to be increased. Corporate lobbyists for the auto industry are behind keeping cars getting no mileage whatsoever. What we need to be prowling is contacting all of the members of congress and tell them we want the standards increased. My senator, Bill Nelson, has been putting forth legislation for years trying to get this done but it never happens. I intend to write McCain and tell him that I am a Hillary supporter and do not want him to drill in ANWR. It all boils down to greed, nothing for us. We have been trying here in Florida to put thru an amendment since 1999 called the Florida Hometown Democracy Petition to change the Florida constitution so our City and County Councils would not be able to change our comp plan and arbitrarily fill in wetlands to build more condos and more houses when there are thousands on the market unsold. Whole developments have gone bankrupt and they continue to cater to developers. It’s not going to be on the ballot as our signatures were challenged. The Chamber of Commerce and big money developers did everything to keep it off the ballot and they have succeeded. It took months for the signatures to even be counted. But what will be on the ballot is the constitutional amendment against gay marriage which I don’t give a hoot about. Funny how they were able to count all of those signatures to get them on the ballot.
#123 americanway
This is the strangest election year. BO and the DP stole this nomination. For President Clinton to campaign for the man that smeared Hillary and intimidated her delegates is beyond belief.
In age of the Web, the political backroom deals are transparent. The Clintons are losing their credibility among honest Democrats by campaigning for Cupcake. Keep it up Bubba and an unknown Democratic star will emerge in 2012 and it won’t be Clinton.
#116 LotusBoy
I have answered your question in the past, but I am happy to reiterate that I am completely aligned with Senator Clinton’s energy and environmental policies, as were most people on this site back when I arrived here in June:
http://clinton.senate.gov/issues/environment/index.cfm?topic=energy
We need to go into overdrive to develop clean, renewable energy sources. Oil companies are the only beneficiary of drilling for more oil. Haven’t we given them enough of our money and our land?
#92 Bluejay on 09.13.08 at 6:52 pm
You make an excellent point. After studying the issue fully maybe the best decision is to leave ANWR alone. I do not know the answer. But I can tell how to get the answer.
Sit down and close your eyes and feel love. Love will become who you are. Now allow LOVE to answer all your questions. If you are very still and quiet you will hear a voice talk to you. The Voice of God will ALWAYS give you the correct answer.
KNOW this also that the mind, the logical thinking, the intellegence of man, will ALWAYS give the wrong answer because the mind KNOWS NOT LOVE. Love comes from a place different from the intellect. Love is closer to a feeling and not an intellectual persuit.
Always remember that God is Love is the ANSWER always.
In this particular example the question is how to love everyone in the best way possible. We can not correctly answer that question but LOVE can answer the question.
As you remind all our new members, please remember this is a NOBAMA site

#116 LotusBoy I read some of the earlier posts. Just wondering – are you from Alaska? Have you ever lived in Alaska? What Native Indian tribe are you talking about? Just curious……..
Hi everyone. Glad to see that texassherry is doing fine. Gypsy, thank you for asking; my parents are doing fine. Just had power outage. Thank God. I’ve been reading the posts but don’t have time to post alot myself. I have alot of homework which I haven’t done at all. Everything is due tommorrow. Wish someone here can give me the answers. The only thing good about my classes is that it’s all online. The bad thing is I’m always here when I’m sitting in front of the computer. I did the same thing last week and crammed everything on Sunday. Really sucks!
I have written many times to our Senators , including Hillary) ,and our Congresspersons that we need to redevelop our railroad system. We cannot continue to ship the nation’s freight one truck at a time. Sure would help passengers too.
Also, among others, BO supports ethanol subsidies. That is the biggest sham in the whole energy debate.
Thanks texassherry! Yeah, she is alright, but she had just replaced her roof and all of her appliances… She will be fine, she is an executive with SW airlines…
She hid-out with her daughter at the airport.

Sherry great job on your site abd thank you. Good to have a place to openly vent.
173 Cassie Take care Cassie, am glad they are ok.
is there radio tonight?
Tribes in alaska are eskimos, Inuit, the people of Todd Palin. They’re not indians in any shape or form, their culture is different. Some of eskimo ancestors in Alaska are living in Siberia. Russia is only a stone throw away from Alaska, Aleutian chain is only a few minutes away from Russia…scary huh?
#173Cassie: Oh Cassie…maybe we can help….what is the subject of your homework…You just never know what resources are here!!! I haven’t helped with cramming homework in a while, but I used to be very good and who knows you may have a whole coterie of homework helpers here…..You are funny, Cassie!

are doing great! We only had a little rain today and that is it. The humidity is tremendous though and can still feel the pressure. Thanks so much for your offers of help – much appreciated, trust me!
Native Americans in lower 48 have more close relations with the Mayans.
#173 Cassie ,
Glad to see that you are okay too.
Thanks bev and texassherry; I’ve been afraid that the air was going out of our ‘balloons’, but I can see that we’re only getting stronger! Here in SA we are going to proudly ‘shelter’ many evacuees for what looks to be a long while—no matter what their political views might be! That’s the Texas way. And the American way will be to elect McCaIN/PalIN! Someone has said this elsewhere, but it bears repeating: What a kick in pants it would be to see Hillary and Sarah running against *each other* in ’12?! THAT possibility is the reason I wore my ERA bracelet (never taking it off) in high school until it finally broke in half! To be voting for a Republican for the first time in my life is HUGE for me. But this is a ’cause’ greater than myself. Can anyone here direct me to a web-site that has bumper stickers proclaiming me to be a Hillary supporter who now supports McCain/Palin so I can put one next to my Hillary stickers (which are never going to be removed!) on my truck? I finally, and with great sadness, took down my “Hillary for President” yard sign (but I didn’t throw it away!), so are there any yard signs out there that I can put up and that will show me to be a Hillary supporter now in support of the McCain/Palin ticket?
And are Sarah and JoeB debating tonight? A friend just called me and said that they were. Oh, and we can all safely watch SNL tonight because Oblowme isn’t going to be on! I think that Tina Fey is going to do a turn as Ms. Palin*—I love Tina so I hope she doesn’t disappoint me like Sarandon recently did! (*I told a friend of mine when I first saw Ms. Palin that she looked a little like Ms. Fey—apparently others, like Lorne Michaels, think so, too).

181 Asian4Hillary Asian, I know you’re there, and I’ve lived there, so was just wondering what direction someone else is going. When I lived up there I started reading about Totems but was never able to get very far with it. I even tried panning for gold a couple of times – it was just fun!!

The Gwich’in are the northernmost Indian tribe in the United States. (Their words, not mine, please see below):
http://www.gwichinsteeringcommittee.org/gwichinnation.html
I think Obimbo cancelled SNL not for the reasons stated but because he didnot want to be associated with an SNL sketch thissoon after lipstick comment re Palin.
This guy lies even when circumstances do not even warrant it….when normal people may be tempted to do so…He is a pathological lier and I am convinced a sociopath. I am not being ironic. I am being literal. I truly have concluded this having watched him for 11 months.
#161 Bluejay –
The link provided does have information close to “all of the above approach provided by McCain”.
Sorry if I am on the other side, but more than ANWR I really support not sending money to oil sold by Aramco, Chavez and Nigeria. Mexico and Canada form a sizeable chunk of our imports but I am ok with it.
And in terms of companies making a lot of money, drug companies and Nike, Coach etc do have a higher gross and net margin owing to the fact that they source materials in Taiwan, Indonesia etc. If there is non-partisan information provided to common public about simple cost of production, cost of sales versus profits made by companies across various segments one would understand the logic behind the fallacy of excess money made by oil companies.
Another case in point is the uncomfortable feeling over China drilling near the Keyes and all the thirst for oil all over the globe.
Finally we can beat this topic to death and still get nowhere but the reality of the world is an ever increasing population and disproportionate deforestation.
Cassie: What is the course and what is the question about Home Depot?

I’ve lived in Alaska for years, I have a lot of Eskimo friends, I’ve never heard of that tribe. Eskimos don’t call themselves Indians, they get offended if you compare them to Native Americans from lower 48.
evening everyone
193 NewOrleansPuma – I think he cancelled because he knew he would not get much coverage right now with Ike.
Cassie: You are a noble soul! However, maybe we can help with an overview of some kind…if we know the question…maybe we can’t but what the hell..As an inbetween job I worked for them for a while and I can tell you their Personnel pracitices are awful!
Giving tax benefits to people that use solar panels in their homes,or have wind power, is a better answer to the energy problem.
Build ,AGAIN, the electric car(that can be recharged with solar energy)is the right thing to do.Of course, this car is to be sold to the public.

I hear what you are saying. No, the Gwich’in are not Eskimo. They are Native American, and describe themselves as an “Indian” nation. It is speculated that they have occupied the land now known as “ANWR” for 20,000 years.
Ok Cassie…I will not try to tempt you any more! This old teacher will flip and say..Ok..you better get that homework done! I send you a good homework Puma hug, Cassie!
201 Asian4Hillary You’re so funny – yes, I froze also!! Homer – went there every chance I got and yes to Salmon fishing in the Kenai. I only went to Clam Gulch once and I was never fast enough for clamming. I even learned how to use a canner!! And a smoker!! My time in Alaska was great from the beginning to when I had to leave. ANWR don’t have a single soul living there EXCEPT Caribous and other wild animals. That’s their “claim”, how can they be there when Alaska actually is inhabited by Eskimos and Russians from time immemorial. The claim of these people is a farce. Eskimos in Alaska received a lot of money from the State, many indians claimed to be Alaskans because of M O N E Y. If an eskimo living in Nome or Barrow Alaska have a breakdown with his snowmachine (you call it snowmobile in lower 48), the state buy him a new one.

Eisa Nefertari Ulen has her own site which includes her biography, blogs, and information about her novels. She is in her 20′s, is a Muslim, and is an BO supporter, but I do not think she has links to Chicago; I think she just wants change politically and socially for AA . I agree with her, though she is far more radical than I.
You might want to read her blog about her parents when she was two. http://eisaulen.com/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=9&MMN_position=18:5
In addition, Alaska used to be owned by USSR, it was Governor Seward who lobbied for the US govt to buy Alaska for 7 or 9 cents an acre. I can’t remember now how much was the total amount the US government paid to USSR, but the first shipment of oil out of Alaska was the EQUAL amount paid when USA bought it from the Russkies.
CNN is doing a job on Palin right now what a bunch of jerks

Have you tried looking at their financial statements in various stock programs? The data there is often more readable and some of them can analyze the data also.
Cassie, their highest sales was in plumbing, electrical and kitchens….31% of sales.

CNN is an Obama network. Gergen, Brown, Martin, King, etc are on in the tank for Cupcake. I wouldn’t waste my time watching their garbage.
211 LotusBoy – sorry, just noticed the posts and was wondering if you lived there or are from there?
true I don’t watch cnn anymore but was flipping and couldn’t help myself.
Rabblerouser: Actually, this is where my professor wants me to go to. I’m going to get help from my sister tomorrow. It’s very confusing to read. I’m not good with numbers but can’t understand for the life of me why I want to go into Accounting. Duh!!!
CNN has become one of those tabloids in the supermarket checkout line. You read the headlines, but never buy.
214 Blue Blue Gal I know!! Did Grizzly come back?
Cassie net earnings of $.4 billion dollars.
Sorry 4.4 billion dollars
My friend just called me back to tell me that the Palin/JoeB debate is going to be broadcast on Oct. 2nd instead. CNN is showing “Sarah Palin Revealed” right now, though. I never watch CNN any longer (it’s FOX only for me now), but it seems to be pretty straightfoward at the moment…When, oh when, when ‘fair and balanced’ be the rule instead of the exception?!
tennaseepuma: Thank you. By the way, where can I find that info?
Rats deserting a sinking ship it seems LOL
LOOK WHAT WAS POST AT MSNBC site
“He’s an arrogant S.O.B.,” one of the latter told me today. “He wants to do it his way, and his way alone.” But politics doesn’t work that way. And has Obama should know, or is about to find out, that everyone needs a little help.

Don’t get discouraged; a lot of what they have you do in school you’ll find when you work is often automated. I’m a librarian and I despised Cataloguing – I always fell asleep in the class and I dreaded my first job – I was happily surpised to learn that it’s all done for me; when I order books, I pay a dollar extra and it comes catalogued!
Latest AOL straw poll:
McCain 60% Obama 40%
Who has been running a better campaign since the conventions:
McCain 69% Obama 31%

I most definitely enjoy all your thoughts.
We need women in power positions to make the changes we -as women deem necessary for a better world.
A world that we have inherited for thousands of years, is male dominated and subsequently war and arms oriented.
There is a desperate need for a balance of male-female (ying-yang)energy, if we are to survive as species.
215 californiagal I wanted to know why she is against Palin. I don’t think she and I will have much in common. Thank you.
Maybe i can post the page……

Thank you for posting the link. There’s something I notice about NObama in every speech he delivers heavily covered by the media; “he’s close and yet so far.” He connects with the people for a few minutes like a good lecturer but once a person leaves the lecture room, they can’t remember a damn thing what the lecturer talked about. He also talk down on people, he put a distance between him and his audience, like a professor to his students. NObama cannot relate to a common man but he expects you to believe whatever he says and you have no right to question him. He made his self into an icon, untouchable in so many ways. But the more people know about him, the less they like him; due to the fact NObama is speaking in another world, he uses a language foreign to a lot of people. It is English but the way he talks, makes you feel inferior, you’re beneath him. That is my summation of NObama.
Cassie: I still say you should do some research on how to read/understand a company’s financial statement. If you go to some stock websites you can get explanations of what these terms mean – price per earnings, dividends, etc etc, that might help your understanding.
“Obama Steers Clear of Palin” LATimes 9/14
“He stuck to his talking points, turning the discussion back to McCain and repeating the argument that the Arizona senator is a figure from the past, falsely running on a promise to shake up Washington.
Speaking to a crowd of more than 7,000 here today, Obama hewed to that theme: “John McCain doesn’t get it,” he said. “He doesn’t know what’s going on in your lives. He is out of touch with the American people.”
Normally, the Democratic vice presidential nominee might be expected to eviscerate Palin. But Obama’s No. 2, Joe Biden, is sticking to the script. When he gets a question about the Alaska governor, he, too, shifts back to McCain.
Guiding the Obama campaign is a conviction that Palin will either fade or implode. One aide privately predicted the Palin phenomenon would “go away.”
Outside public view, Obama aides are doing what that they can to nudge that process along, steering reporters to unflattering stories about Palin. An Obama aide today sent out an e-mail highlighting a Boston Globe article that disclosed Palin, contrary to what the McCain campaign had said, has never visited Iraq.
David Axelrod, Obama’s chief strategist, said Obama was shunning Palin “because she’s not the candidate for president.”…..
The Obama camp suddenly realized their guy was campaigning against the wrong person. hahaha.
They also believe if they ignore Palin she will go away.
If I close my eyes, will you still be there?
I think they are afraid. We need to keep her name out there so they don’t do to her what they did to HC. The story points out that this strategy worked during the primaries. Read it here:

EVERY ONE IS UP ON THE NEW POST UPSTAIRS!!!
puff puff… going back up the stairs!!
Asian4Hillary, where is the freaking elevator? I hate stairs!!!
huff puff huff…. ^ ^^^^^^^^^^ headed up!!
#253 Asian4Hillary – and he would want citizens of USA start learning languages of the world. How else can somebody be leader of the world?
For people that do not know what I am talking about, I saw one of the meetings / speaking event where he stated that foreigners visit here and take the pain of learning English but when we go abroad we can only say ‘S’il Vous Plait’ or ‘Merci Beaucoup’. In the new world we are now expected to pick an language and learn. So if the unthinkable happens feel free to select an elective (federal mandate)

So glad you decided to share your feelings, because I am in total agreement.
Entitlement programs have become the expected norm. I’m all for a helping hand when needed but I do not support a lifetime free ride. Many of the programs are fraught with abuses and fraud — the government seems to accept rather than address these failings. The middle class pays dearly for these programs in the form of taxes.
Obama’s promises in an effort to reach the needs of “all” voters are insane. The thought of an all Democratic congress and a Democratic president is a scary proposition. One of the many reasons I support McCain is that I feel a moderate Republican in the White House will hold the reins that will be needed with a historically notorious Democratic tax and spend Congress.
Texas PUMAs (((ALERT)))
I just read that Obama/Biden filed in Texas one day late of the required deadline to be in the state ballots.
Get on that phone and asked The State of Texas Election Division Hope Andrade and Elections Divison Director Ann McGeehan, demanding that the Obama/Biden ticket be denied ballot access, because they missed the deadline.
Texas election law requires all presidential candidates to file by 5pm of the 70th day before the election: for this election would’ve been August 26.
The Texas Democratic Party didn’t file unitl the 27th.
Go PUMAs Go!
move upstairs folks
#57..it is appalling that they would compare BO with Jesus. One other point they forgot, Jesus would not be running for president of any country. And no one knows what BO accomplishes while acting as a community organize. Encouraging people to register to vote is not a major accomplishment to embellish or claim experience enough to be POTUS
Hey, ya gotta admit that Tina did a fairly good job with her Sarah impersonation. I’ll always love Tina for her “Bitch is the new black” riff…
PS: What does ‘move upstairs’ mean?
lotus boy..no one should be forced to learn any language..but the way the USA is going it would be a good idea to learn Spanish and Chinese
Is there any way to get an accurate picture of how the 18 million Hillary voters will vote for?
Hey,#92, BlueJay, I agree with you! And it isn’t just ANWAR, it’s the flathead lands, The Oregon and Washington Coastline, and all our other wilderness areas. I think I’ll let it go at that or I’ll be here all night, and I’m too tired to get into how I really feel. Just know, BlueJay, you are heard and believed. Will try to be here more tomorrow.
blessings and have a good night.
Obviously, as a Progressive Socialist for over 54 years, I had considered the eventuality of having my political beliefs co-opted and Newspoken by political factors hoping to gain some advantage from doing such a thing. I am disappointed, though, that the attack has come from one of my siblings-in-arms.
It seems as if the isolation I have felt with increasing sadness has come full circle and I am now a political pariah even within my new-found group of fellow political outcasts. So be it.
I have enjoyed the company and intelligence of so many people on this forum. I will miss your commraderie, but I cannot be a part of a community which posts articles that denigrate and misinform my virtual world siblings so contemptuously about progressives and The Progressive Movement as this article does.
You cited:
As readers know, I am careful to describe my politics as “liberal,” not progressive. What’s the difference?
ALL PROGRESSIVES LIE. ALL.
You followed this up with your own sentiments:
I think that’s generally, though not so stridently, true because I can understand the distinction now between a liberal and a progressive.
I beg to differ. As a life-long progressive, in general, I don’t lie. And I NEVER lie about anything above the level of conversational trivia. Your statements are as offensive to me as I would imagine the following would be to you, (and just as ridiculous):
As readers know, I am careful to describe my bloggers as “annabelleps,” not Anna Belle Ps. What’s the difference?
ALL ANNA BELLE Ps LIE. ALL.
How asinine!
I find it interesting that you feel more inclined to insult Progressives than Republicans, although I don’t believe either political position should be attacked on this site. Still, since I have no desire to be a part of watching this nascent “Progressive” PUMA movement turn on and cannibalize itself in trivial, unkind ways, I will dismiss myself from further posting.
Best of luck to all your endeavors. Peace be with you, sibling, wherever you are.

This is my understanding of the PUMA Movement. At the present time there is “one purpose” and one purpose “only” irregardless of personal feelings and entrenched political motivations.
STOP OBAMA! Thats it! Do whatever it takes to STOP OBAMA from winning the General Election. I respect everyone’s views and their political leaning and their interpretations of same. If you can help preventing Obama from winning the election. DO IT!
Here is my next best hope. The down ticket Democrats are nervous because Obama is tanking badly. They are afraid, with good reason, they will be dragged down with him when he fails. They are screaming and screaming loudly..
Joe Biden, is sounding the alarm for those down ticket Dems. Obama needs to step aside before all is lost because of him and the ultimate stupidity of the DNC.
Biden hasn’t said those exact words but there is no other reason for him at the 11th hour to start pushing Hillary as presidential material.
The video is here. Make of it what you will. We are coming to a crucial crossroads and need to stick together.

I think maybe Barak should have not cancelled SNL because that palin/clinton episode was the only punch that whole show had and maybe he could have shown he does indeed have humor side, which i yet to see, unless you call cynical comical…
I find it funny that now they are gonna use Biden’s past relationships with McCain to blast him this coming week, bad move cause all McCain will do is come back about how wrong Biden has been on every military and national security issue, bad move…they just cant admit, that hillary should have been the no-brainer.
Still saddens me to think she would have to watch his back for him.
Howard Dean: “McCain campaign appeals to the “worst in human beings” while Obama appeals to the best.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008178477_howarddean14m.html
I know this is just Howard Dean doing what he does best – making a complete fool of him self by putting down over half of America, but good God statements like that should not go unpunished.
Obama has been brought to his knees. People who voted for him in the primaries have lived to regret it. Obama is nothing more than a media creation created to knock Hillary out of contention this election cycle.
The DNC and the narcissistic woss Pelosi, have been taken for a ride by the Republicans. They’ve been played like a cherished Stradivarius dancing to the tune of the GOP for the last eight years.
The long and the short of it is…Obama is UNelectable! He’s been propped up by the media and the DNC for the last 21 months and as all knock offs eventually do…he’s not wearing well with the public.
All he needs is one more solid knock out punch and he’s gone forever!
We’ve got time. The Berg lawsuit is alive and well. The DNC and Obama have until Sept. 26 to answer the charges. (strangely enough, the same day as his first debate with McCain)
Murphy is doing exactly the right thing forming the New Democratic Party. We need to clean out the old guard and bring in people who care about our people and our country.
