Hey there all you Pumacrats, Indepumants, and Republipumas, Anna Belle from Peacocks and Lilies is in da house! It’s late-late on the East coast and just getting late on the West Coast, and I got just invited to post here, so of course I thought I’d dive right in.
No one could ever say us PUMAs are wall-flowers, eh? We’ve taken a small movement of observant political stewards and developed it into a major voting block. If we keep up at this pace, we may, united with others, develop ourselves into a super-constituency. As Dr. Socks so eloquently advised all the way back in June, we’ve managed to come out of a battle loss with leverage to employ, and we’re employing it. Amidst all the media chaos of the election as it moves into full swing, remember to take a moment to pat yourselves on the back. You’ve worked hard, and we’ve got accomplishments under our belt to show for it.
But alas, ever tirelessly we must march on. Our work is not done. Whatever you decide on the top of the ballot, I think we can all agree on supporting good, down-ticket candidates. Out here in Southern Indiana we don’t have much to look forward in the way of good candidates of any stripe. Baron Hill (BD-IN) isn’t getting my vote, and neither is his Republican candidate, Mike Sodrel (NC-IN, 2004-2006). You may recall Baron Hill. He took $12,000 from Obama’s pac, and then pledged his support as a Superdelegate to Obama before our state ever held its primary. Indiana, and specifically his (9th) District, went for Hillary (I made sure. Heh.). The race, which has long leaned in Hill’s favor, is apparently now a dead heat. Too bad. I may have to leave that one blank.
So what’s up in your neck of the woods? Any good races to report on? Any news you’re hearing from the field? Any actions to report?

This question was posted downstairs and no offense but I cannot resist answering this since the question is spreading misinformation.
There is a huge difference Trish. First — the Hillary supporters never shouted that out at Brazile. It was Harriet Christian who shouted it out after a vote to return full voting rights to Floridians were denied and the argument was being made that the votes for half the people was better than getting nothing and we should be happy with that compromise. Harriet shouted out “It’s still lipstick on a pig.”
The difference Trish is that it was never aimed at a specific person… it was aimed at the policies that were being painted as fair when they were anything but fair.
That’s why it was ok when the Hillary people shouted it.
The difference is Obama has a history of using ambiguous comments to attack his opponents. Biden stated the same day that no amount of lipstick could make Palin’s record look good… so you know that Obama’s directives and narratives was to take the lipstick remark Palin made about being a pitbull and turn it around as a personal attack on Palin. Probably because her pitbull with lipstick bothered him and his male ego and he can never resist bringing women down to the level of a pig.
That’s why it’s ok for the Hillary people and not ok for Obama. I just stopped in to look over the site for link information but couldn’t resist giving my 2¢ on that question cause the misinformation pissed me off.

Am signing up to be a poll worker. Received an application for poll worker right inside my absentee ballot which was mailed to my home yesterday. I have to take a 4 hr. mandatory class for in-struction. Wonder if they are going to make sure the election process goes smoothly in Ohio. Or maybe they can not get enough people to work the polls after all the garbage that has gone on in the primaries. Ohio is not a caucus state but we are highlighted again. My personal opinion here is that some of you need separate your defense of Palin into 2 categories. 1, Are you defending her because she’s female or 2. Are you defending her because she’s republican and you’re using the fact she’s female to continue going on about her here.
I realize there are people here who hate men, that’s only too obvious. However we have to pick our battles and tearing one thing apart for over 4 hours is not exactly solving anything except make yourselves look like asses.
We are not here to fight Sarah’s fight. The repubs can fight that themselves.
Our first fight is to ensure Bo does not get elected. And we’re losing focus of that. Whether you want to admit it or not, we’re losing the old regulars, the doers. And we’re inudated with many sayers. So we need to figure out how to get these people back here. And attempting to rescue Sarah everytime a sexist remark is thrown her way is not going to get anyone back.
I was disgusted last night reading the blog here, if we can’t act like adults while having fun then we have issues.

What is he going to call Palin next? Is he going to use “street” language?
This is a Presidential candidate that cannot debate actual issues, but can make all of his snide remarks. Why is he going after Palin anyways? Isn’t he running for President? Palin is only going for Vice President. Is he afraid to go after McCain? So he picks who he thinks is the weaker of the two candidates? Does he really believe he will still pick up the Independents and disenfranchised Democrats by attacking a “woman” with slurs? I only have one thing for B. Hussein and his supporters:

Trish needs to say her piece with a bit more tact. We don’t hate men ! We bash them because they cause un-ending trouble. We defend Palin because some of us take it that any insult to her as a woman which is clearly what is being done, is an insult to women in general. If you don’t see it that way, then let it go. If you see something not going the way you think it should, then suggest that people get on track.
Even when you lash out, you have to be somewhat tactful. Everyone here is equally valued – no one is any more or less than the other. Play nice or come back another day, Please…

Good morning everyone, I was flipping back and forth between morning joe and fox and friends and Andrea Mitchell is on for Mika B (yuck) anyways it cracked me up hearing Joe S and the crew talking about the polls they are scratching there heads trying to figure out what happened to BO. Hello we all knew this was gonna happen everybody said while Hillary was in the race Obama can’t win against McCain everybody knew it , why are they acting surprised now.. come on.

I live in Alabama. On my local news last night it was reported that voter registration is swelling by approximately 100-150 new voters A DAY. This is attributed to the “Rock the Vote” workers, and everyone interviewed on the news last night was a NEW Obama voter, though I would hope there are more independents.
I have mentioned this concern, as have other PUMAs, that what is happening on the ground, in the community parties, is BO’s weapon. This can explain some smugness from their camps in spite of all the gains in polls for Repubs. We can take a grain of hope from a poll this week or in the future, but polls don’t show it all.
In this context, I am concerned more than ever about opportunities for fraud. They will stop at nothing. Remember, he didn’t run for 19 months and eat hotel food to come in second. (Though somebody has to, right?)

Free gas cards free debit cards. What is going on? I didn’t need anything or want anything when I registered to vote. I felt proud to be able to cast my vote in any election. If people sign up to vote because they are getting something for free; it makes me wonder how many of them will even cast a vote on Nov. 4th. let alone cast a vote in any local election.
Ontherocks that is what we can hope for take the free gift and laugh all the way home. I know all this is happening look at the proof we have with the primaries but I just don’t know how to stop it right now. We can prove it after the fact, i would think if someone is offering a gift in exchange for voting maybe that is illegal and i don’t even know if that is but how do we prove it.
I am not sure how to stop this. There has to be someone in the media that would be willing to take a close hard look at this and maybe do a story on it.

Thanks to both of you. This is about Milwaukee – ACORN caught 49 people that did fraudulent voter manipulations and they were fired. They (ACORN) said some of these people were giving out free gas cards, etc….I just thought we should get with them also. ACORN said that even people with “felons” were voting – so we know where that came from!!!
It is a shame that things like this are happening. I am sure Milwaukee is not the only place this has happened.

Hi Annabelle- it was great to meet you in Denver. I am up here in NW Indiana, the only one I am sure I am going to vote for is Jill Long for governor. She helped us out a lot up here with Hillary’s campaign. I took names during the primary believe me. I know each of the local politicians up here, and will make sure I only vote for the ones who supported Hillary and her policies. It was very ugly up here, as you know. I went toe to toe with the mayor of my city, which isn’t saying much, he is not the sharpest tool in the shed! I have been in contact with many of the Hillary supporters that we gathered in the five surrounding cities from the different campaign offices. They are all on board to leave the top blank or vote McCain, and vote downticket dems.

Interviewed a couple of women from the Republican Party in Florida that are encouraging women to boycott Oprah and to stop subscribing to he “O” magazine.
They said that Oprah has endorsed, stumped for, and attended Obama’s speech. She has had him on her show several times. They don’t buy her excuse about not wanting to make her show political. She’s already used her show and her popularity to campaign for Obama.
They went on to explain that she has always presented her show as being for women’s rights and issues. Now that there’s a woman running for VP, she is chosing not to have Sarah Palin on her show to discuss women’s issues. She is proving herself to be a hypocrite, and her show to be “out of touch” with women.
They also commented on the “lipstick” comment by Obama. They couldn’t see how he didn’t mean it.

BO’s Lipstick remark is significant in numerous ways. It is both and Woman’s Issue and an Issue of Middle American Values. The gross impropriety of the comment indicates that Obama has a pathological hatred of women. He seems obsessed with Palin and what she said about him. If it was not an outright insult to her, it revealed that what she said is playing in his head. The GOP must have done a good job with his psychological profile. They probably know him better than he knows himself. That speech and Palin herself were designed and chosen to totally derail him. It was right on target. It told a lot about BO. This totally likable middle American woman is everything BO hates.
And if she can she can derail him with a convention speech, just think how BO would handle diplomatic negotiations. He has lost it under pressure. He is psychologically vulnerable because he is a very emotionally unhealthy person.
When I saw O’Reilly’s interview of BO, I did notice that BO could not debate even the most simple of political philosophy about shared wealth. That is really bad. That is dumb as a box of rocks, George W. Bush bad. Not only is his suit empty, his head is empty too.

Ok I think you can argue if “lipstick on a pig” is sexist or if it was a mistake. For my part I think it was purposeful and sexist and I think Muslims have some thing against pigs, but this you can’t argue; it was breathtakingly stupid and it showed bad judgment and again it showed the Obamaites tin ear AGAIN. Then BO followed it up with an “old fish” remark when BO has been trying to use ageism against McCain for months, the way he used sexism against Hillary. Obama is clearly ratteled and he shows very bad judgement when he is rattled and his classist and sexist and ageist little jokes don’t work with most Americans.

I’m outraged at Obama’s remark, as much as calling Palin a pig, why is it always ok to call women names? I was just as outraged at some of the men making racist remarks on the air, men like Imus. Yet, women are fair game for all the media pundits. I’ve heard Obama make many sexist remarks about Hillary and everyone in the media had a good laugh about it. Where is the balanced reporting? Freedom of the press is a great thing but not when it is used to destroy people. I understand all the media outlets are out to get McCain, but please use fairness, and stop attacking everyone that expresses an opinion on Obama that doesn’t agree with you. Women are not enemies of this country so stop treating us like we are. I spent four years silently lurking on a political blog — commented maybe 3 times in four years. I think I read every single last comment ever posted there. I felt like I “knew” those people. I loved getting to know their personalities and their personal histories.
I get the feeling that some of our frequent commenters feel unnoticed and unappreciated. NOT TRUE. You should remember that while hundreds may be commenting, there are literally THOUSANDS of people, thousands and thousands every single say, who read every word you write.
And they love you — they really do — each of us and all of us collectively are a fascinating forum of politically active women and men from all around the country (and world even) who come here every day and DO POLITICS. I’m concerned about that, too. I read that BO is doing the same thing in PA. That article said he was targeting predominantly AA communities. I really get incensed that he uses well-meaning people who look up to him for his own selfish ambitions. And I really get mad when it comes to Alabama. I’m not black, but I think one of the great historical events in American History was the Freedom March. Last year I was passing through Alabama and I detoured to go to Selma to see where it all started. I saw the bridge and the park and then we drove the 50 miles to Montgomery along that narrow highway where so many people walked. It is a very emotional site. And then Obama had the audacity to say that he was connected to Selma because his parents met there and fell in love and he was conceived while they were there. A blatant lie! I want to tell everybody in Alabama and especially Selma that Obama lied to you. He used that beautiful event to connect with you and thought you would be too stupid to check the time line!

Montana: McCain Surges Ahead by Double-Digits

John McCain has opened a double digit lead over Barack Obama in Montana. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Treasure State finds McCain leading by eleven, 53% to 42%.
That’s quite a change from late July when the race was a toss-up. Montana has voted for a Republican candidate in nine of the last ten presidential elections but Obama had made clear his intention to compete for the state’s three Electoral College votes. The candidate himself spent the Fourth of July in Butte, Montana and his campaign ran significant television advertising in the state. However, just before the Democratic National Convention, Obama stopped advertising in Montana and several other traditionally Republican states.
With release of this poll, Montana shifts from “Leans Republican” to “Likely Republican”

I was going to blog last nite when I got home from being an election judge for our primary but I was tired so went to bed.
Anyway – was a really long day – MN voters turn out in huge #s for the GE but not so much for primaries – my precinct has 3368 registered voters – 18 new voters were registered & our total count of voters was 289 – sad huh – I live in a suburb of Minneapolis and there are 4 wards or precincts & each has pretty much the same number of voters – don’t know how the other 3 precincts did but I’m sure were not a whole lot better than ours was………………………………….
One woman came into vote wearing an Obama button – we were supposed to tell her to remove it but I was so surprised to actually see it – nobody did – the head judge saw it on her as the woman was leaving & came over & reminded us that no buttons, signs, etc. are allowed within 100 feet of the polling place…..darn & I was the rookie (the other 2 ladies were longtime judges). I have to admit that MN voters are very good -you do not have to show ID to vote – just give us your name & we check the roll book to find your name – you sign next to your name & we give you a voter receipt which you present to the ballot judge who then gives you a ballot – almost every single person pulled out their driver’s license & presented that in addition to giving us their name –
Was a very interesting experience – can hardly wait for the GE – that is going to be a circus/nitemare/adventure – take your pick – the judges for yesterday were split into two shifts – on GE day – we all will work all day – big crowds are expected – I’m pessimistic – we’ll see if all those kids showed up – there sure weren’t that many yesterday
Most of the ladies I talked to yesterday were Hillary supporters – no surprise there – I talked to them about the caucus frauds in other states, about the phony roll call (someone wanted to know why it wasn’t all of the states with the drama, etc that usually occurs – were some very ticked off people once I explained what happened), most of them had noticed the sexism, I told them about PUMA and what we were doing, they are excited about Palin and I think the Dems are in big trouble with this GE………………………….

It is with concern and disappointment that we write this letter regarding the NEA’s endorsement of Bararc Obama as stated in the September issue of NEAToday. There is an error in the number one thing on your top ten list. That is B. Obama wasn’t raised just by his “single” mother. His grandparents and a stepfather raised him as well.
We have followed the primary and election with great interest and feel we are well informed on the issues. We feel that the behavior and practices of the DNC during the primary and the convention were undemocratic. The DNC basically manipulated the process to ensure that Obama would be the candidate.
Also my wife, a retired school librarian, has real questions about someone who writes an autobiography in his 30’s with no real noteworthy accomplishments other than Pres. of Harvard Law Review and uses fictitious names throughout the narrative. She would call it Autobiographical Fiction ~ (a new genre?!)!
We could not overlook the gender bias, the racist pastor(s), the shady Chicago ties, Ayers, Rezko and the vote for FISA.
There is NO WAY, NO HOW, we will vote for a candidate who engaged in Caucus Fraud to win the nomination, has poor judgement and questionable character. The more we learn about B. Obama the more questions we have.
Any ONE of these items would have seen the elimination of a candidate from a national election. All Howard Dean had to do was a “Yeah” at the Iowa caucus!

Good answer. We are a diverse group of people on this site. And there are times when all of us get frustrated or angry at some of the comments posted. But that’s ok.
We are all involved in a highly charged and emotional endeavor. Many of us have been involved in some way with politics for decades. Some have just recently become involved.
For those of us who have been around awhile, it is particularly disturbing to have the axis shift in what we have always believed to be the “right and good” party.
We have worked for an ideal for decades, we were literally in site of the promised land, only to have it snatched away by nefarious means. The entire process has caused us all much emotional angst.
So, instead of sitting in a corner with a bottle, we have decided to take action. What a positive action! But in the meantime, we all have to work out our own feelings of disappointment, anger, and frustration. As with any family, it will spill out in diverse ways.
We just need to keep our common goal in our minds, and let people work out all their frustrations as best they can.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll released this week showed white women swinging hard against the Democratic ticket. Obama left Denver with an 8-point lead among white women; by the time John McCain pulled out of St. Paul, Minn., with Palin at his side, he had taken a 12-point lead.

Barack Obama has pulled his TV ads from seven states that voted Republican in 2004, including the perennial swing state of Florida and two others — North Carolina and Virginia — he had been aggressively targeting as part of his 50-state strategy.
The move could suggest that Obama is returning to a more traditional game plan of focusing on key battleground states to reach the 270 Electoral College votes to win the presidency.
Obama’s campaign told Fox News Network, which first reported the shift, that it is a temporary suspension during the Democratic convention. The other states are Alaska, Georgia, Montana, and North Dakota.
Sarah Simmons, McCain’s strategy director, cited advertising spending and polling data that she said shows that in the states where Obama has spent time and bought ads, his poll numbers dropped.

IF DNC and NObama have enough brain cells alive they better stop using Hillary to campaign for NObama. Every time Hillary goes on campaign for NObama, it only remind voters how they were cheated and their votes are meaningless. Hillary is the BIGGEST reminder how votes of the people were SUBVERTED by superdelegates, and how corrupt is the primary especially in caucus state like Texas.
The more NObama shoot off his mouth without checking if his brain are loaded, the more he gets the ire of registered voters. His use of invectives to get a laugh from his audience is his OWN demise; it doesn’t bode well with the American people in both sexes. Nevada is up for grabs. The Rep and Dem candidates we voted for in our Caucus are no longer in the race. Nevada went for Bush in 2004 by 52%. I am not seeing as many BO ads here as before. We have 5 electorial votes.

As an American and a Voter , I used to be confident that I could rely on the news media for balanced and accurate information on the candidates in order for me to make an educated decision on election day . I just mailed a letter with just a lipstick kiss. I urge others to do the same. Image the message from couple 1,000 or more letters like this. I originally thought of a sending a tube of lipstick, but that would require a package. Then they could just start feeling the package and throwing them out. Put a letter with a kiss in a non see through envelope, and they have to open them all. Especially if you put Campaign Donations on the envelope.

These are the premises of a liar. These are the methods of a fraud.

His lipstick on the pig statement was a calculated, precise insertion of a denigration which we saw consistently with Hillary Clinton.
He will now seek, as I said above, to redefine the term and use it to his advantage…i.e. the race/wrightthing is an example. We may get a little sanctimonious moment from this fraud.

Of the seven states — including Alaska, Georgia, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota — Florida and Virginia are considered key battlegrounds this year. Obama’s decision to stop advertising in those states is raising eyebrows.

I AM SUPPORTING JOHN McCAIN AND SARAH PALIN, and here’s why.
On November 4th, Election Day, I will join millions of fellow Americans in “splitting” my vote. For President and Vice President, I will be voting for John McCain, and Sarah Palin. For congressional contests, both at the national level, and the state level, I will be voting for the Democratic Party nominee.
I am a strong supporter of the principles of the Democratic Party. We must continue to build up the strength of the Democratic majority in both the U.S. Senate, and House of Representatives.
Through this entire Presidential primary campaign journey, I was an avid supporter of Hillary Clinton. I felt she was the best qualified to be our next President. I was writing excellent material (as a volunteer) with excellent specifics, and with great success I will add in support of her candidacy for both on-line media, and print media all over the country, in whatever state was next to vote.
We came “close”. But, there was a flaw in the election process in that the voters who voted in Florida and Michigan did not have their votes counted, at the time of their vote. This allowed the non-elected “super-delegates” to come out of the woodwork, and follow the swooning masses in pledging their some 350-400 votes to Barack Obama. It was a close race to begin with, and the Hillary Clinton team couldn’t overcome that.
Also this primary election season should not have been about race, but the Obama campaign brought that up, and brought that into the equation. First, was early on in South Carolina, and then just recently when Mr. Obama reminded all Americans he didn’t look like all the other presidents on the dollar bills.
In my opinion, Mr. Obama may be a likable person, probably in the same way he once referred to Hillary Clinton in public, as “she’s likable enough”.
To my immediate subject, I have excerpted the flowing specific quotes from Mr. Obama’s recent acceptance speech on August 28th before 80,000 people in the Mile High Stadium in Denver, and that included an estimated 38 million viewers on TV, as he spoke between these two large grey styrofoam columns that came from “central staging” someplace.
From the speech: (A) “I will eliminate capital gains taxes for the small businesses and the start-ups that will create the high-wage, high-tech jobs of tomorrow”. (B) “I will cut taxes for 95 percent of all working families”. (C) “I will set a clear goal as president: in 10 years, we will finally end our dependence on oil from the Middle East”. (D) “I will tap our natural gas reserves, invest in clean coal technology, and find ways to safely harness nuclear power”. (E) “I’ll help our auto companies retool, so that the fuel-efficient cars of the future are built right here in America. I’ll make it easier for the American people to afford these new cars”. (F) “And I’ll invest $150 billion over the next decade in affordable, renewable sources of energy — wind power and solar power and the next generation of biofuels; an investment that will lead to new industries and 5 million new jobs that pay well and can’t ever be outsourced”. (G) “I’ll recruit an army of new teachers, and pay them higher salaries and give them more support”. (H) “Now is the time to help families with paid sick days and better family leave”. (I) “Now is the time to finally keep the promise of affordable, accessible health care for every single American. If you have health care, my plan will lower your premiums. If you don’t, you’ll be able to get the same kind of coverage that members of Congress give themselves”. (J) “Many of these plans will cost money, which is why I’ve laid out how I’ll pay for every dime — by closing corporate loopholes and tax havens that don’t help America grow”.
Does anyone believe that Barack Obama could do all this, or even any of this? I don’t.
John McCain and Sarah Palin have real plans for real people, plans and specifics that I can believe in. They are all detailed on their website of http://www.JohnMcCain.com. On the site, start with the headings of “The Economy”, “Health Care”, “Education”, and keep going.
I’m voting for real people, people who can give me real plans – with specifics I can believe in, and don’t feel they have to deliver it with a booming hyped up oratory given between styrofoam columns before a fawning mass of 80,000 people. Just give it to me in straight talk. That’s all I need. Thank you.
