News last night from The NY Times, via Riverdaughter, that Obama has run home to Big Sister to plead with her to fight his battle with Saracuda Palin for him. Oh, the poor Precious! Can’t face a tough woman on his own, huh? What’s the matter Barack? Just tell Saracuda that she’s likable enough. Call her a Sweetie and tell the media that she gets moody and bitchy periodically when she’s feeling down. That oughtta work. Or send Sebelius — woo-hoo! I’m sure she can take on Palin and come out of the encounter victorious.

Okay, I came to my store today and had automatic “bad mood” radar. In this “lovely” part of the Historic Harbor in my small town you can’t strive to be better. You can’t have nice things in front of your store, kids like to pull the plants, throw papers, scratch on the windows, throw drinks on the windows, throw bottle rockets in the doors…..I am sick, sick, sick of all this $hit!
Today I will fax, email or call anyone and everyone who has ticked me off. The list is long. It starts with the following fax to the astute Governor Strickland from my home state of Ohio.
Dear Governor Strickland,
I am from the small town of Ashtabula that you visited on Monday at KSU. When I read the local Star Beacon I was appalled to read that you said that Deborah Newcomb would make a better Vice President than Governor Palin under your pictures. I’m sorry, but your wrong. Deborah Newcomb is like Barack Obama, they were both “selected” for their positions.
I had so much respect for you as our Governor but now, all I see is that the politics have consumed you and changed you.
Barack Obama is NOT for me. Deep down, you know he is NOT for you either. He’s for Barack! I know your smarter than that. What happened to country over party?
Hillary was demonized during this election and not one member of the DNC put a stop to it. I’m disgusted as are millions of others. The DNC has lost yet another faithful member and voter.

Winfrey’s staff reportedly is sharply divided on booking Palin.

I find it unbelievable that the Republicans are riding Hillary Clinton’s coattails to the White House (by choosing Palin as the VP and then by having McCain wear that orange tie the night of Palin’s speech) and now BO realizes he can only win by riding HC’s coattails. We all knew the only way the Democrats could win was if HC was on that ticket- as the presidential candidate! I still don’t understand why Sen. Clinton doesn’t say “no” to these BO people. Is it because of that friggin campaign debt? I don’t get it. What does she owe the Democrats? They didn’t do anything for her. That’s the part that most aggravates me now.

I was upset to see Clinton going and stepping up for BO. However, I actually went to see her the last time she was in Florida and I believe she is doing the smart thing. I, myself, am politically obtuse but can recognize a great politician. They walk a tightrope between their values and how they are percieved. How do you succeed and not sell out?

For those of you who favour a more liberal candidate, but refuse to vote for Obama, we have Cynthia McKinney as the Green Party candidate for president . A former Democrat (like many of us) who knows the system is broken and wants to fix things. She isn’t perfect by any means, but no one running is. Her platform is amazing, and very few people know anything about her beyond the cop slapping incident.
Voting Green sends a message that our votes count.
If you cant bring yourself to vote for McCain, but refuse to vote for Obama, then the choice is clear. This would be the year to vote Green and send a message that roars as loud as a lion.
Obama and McCain take states (like California) for granted. They assume the vote will go ‘Democrat’, so they dont focus too much attention on us. What they misunderstand is the rising number of us who will not vote Democrat or Republican this year. Why should we chose between them? Shouldn’t a liberal vote for a liberal? Who said there can only be one liberal candidate? Did the Democrats tell you that lie??
The old excuse about your vote “not counting” unless you vote Democrat/Republican is a lie. Every vote counts. At the end of the day California may vote ‘Democrat’ in 2008, but there will be a small asterisk highlighting how many of us voted Green instead.

I just heard Barack Obama speaking today about the current “New Yorker” cover

just Mr. Obama’s public statement while his private statement is his encouragement of his
friends in media to control the written expression and opinion of people wishing to post
and requiring that they make ONLY positive statements about Mr. Obama without
questioning anything he says or does.
Is this the same Oprah Winfrey who has always seemingly supported freedom of speech
and expression? Is this the same Oprah Winfrey who has had many people from all
different walks of life on her show to discuss their honest feelings about race and other
social issues - to open a dialogue and to educate? Is this the Oprah who earned the respect
of so many of her fans and viewers because of her fairness and her willingness to listen to
all sides of an issue - even if she disagreed?
I am disillusioned, surprised, and offended.

And it because it’s personal as the never ending sexism and mysoginy that I have personally experienced throughout the years. To prevent the anger from erupting, I had to build a defense mechanism in order to try to avoid these types of emotions anymore as it began to destroy my soul. Do I give up fighting this? Out of intense frustration, I sent this letter to Gloria Allred this week:
Dear Ms. Allred:
Like most Americans, I have been impressed with your stance on civil liberties for some time. I am writing today not for any personal issue. I am writing to inquire if there is anything that can be done regarding the manner in which individual voters were denied their rightful representation in the recent Democratic nomination process.
You were involved in the process to get Hillary Clinton into nomination. And you obviously know that the votes cast by the states during both the “breakfast” roll call and the abbreviated suspended roll call were not reflective of the primary results.
She won the majority of the popular vote, but only received 341 delegate votes. How does this happen in the United States? I live in Pennsylvania. I took several days of vacation time to work for Hillary for the primary. But my vote, including the votes of every other resident of Pennsylvania, and most of the eighteen million other Clinton voters did not count. Obstacles to the nomination were imposed on Senator Clinton that
were never imposed on male candidates.
Is there nothing we can do about this? Is there a class action suit on behalf of the disenfranchised voters that can be filed? The media should be doing it’s job and exposing this hijacking of the election process. But the manner in which they attacked Hillary, and now Sarah Palin and her daughter show me they no longer possess the integrity that was formerly entrusted to the fourth estate.
I am a PUMA. But I am not writing as a member of that organization, but as a concerned and saddened American citizen.

All those things are VERY important, and must be addressed. HOWEVER, this election is not your average election. If I could use a health care analogy (since that’s my chosen profession), Democracy in this country is on life support right now. The economy and women’s rights and all those other issues are simply being used as tools to control and manipulate the voting public. Voting or not voting, based on party platforms for those issues, is like spending time and energy trying to cure a skin rash on a dying patient who is fighting for the next breath. You must get the patient’s vital organs and life support systems functioning again before you worry about the peripheral details. IMHO this is a fight for the survival of democracy. Not a fight for party platforms.

The news about Hillary campaigning for Bo is really upsetting. She is being treated like a mop to clean up after the DNC mess. Bill & Hillary have done what they could all these long years to wrestle the Dems to the center, where most of us live. They have championed us, not ‘the Party’. John McCain has fought the same fight to keep the Repubs in the center.

McCAIN- I think he is a decent guy with a sincere message - whether you like his issues or not. I think it would be tough for him to beat Obama - if he beats O officially, he would also have to beat O’s imminent voter fraud which is inevitable.
HILLARY : I would loose a lot of respect for Hillary if she comes out attacking Palin. At some point in time, one has to be true to one’s self or at least pretend to be in the eyes of the public.
The “issues” have always been very important to me - in particular, the environment, health care and the war. If I’m going to vote for someone, I certainly want to know what they stand for.
In my view, if the earth is ruined, if we’re sick…or dead, we will hardly have the luxury of debating politically.
I’ve posted a few times regarding my grave concerns about Sarah Palin’s environmental views, and the reception here has ranged from chilly to downright nasty.
The things that concern me the most, in no particular order . . .
She wants to open ANWR (a tiny, tiny refuge in an enormous state, situated where it is to protect the ONLY birthing ground of the porcupine caribou herd)
She sued the Federal Government to have polar bears removed from the endangered species list in order to make oil and gas extraction “easier.”
She paved the way and promoted the aerial hunting of wolves, shot en masse from low-flying aircraft.
This is not propaganda, but a matter of record. If you can disprove any of this, I welcome the correction.
I’m struggling to understand why it’s been a problem to discuss this here. Could you please choose one of the following and let me know?
1) Her environmental views are not important to me
2) She probably can’t do much damage as VP
3) I more concerned with the big picture
4) Any bad reports about her are coming from the Obama camp
5) It makes it look like Bluejay is supporting BO (not true)
6) Other (please specify):

BO doesn’t know how to attack Palin because what worked so well for him in the Democratic primary—-using the race card, and taking advantage of and not denouncing the sexism directed at HRC. The Republicans are calling him out LOUD and CLEAR on these two cowardly tactics.
I watched Oprah for many years until she built a “shrine” to herself in Africa. That wasn’t all - she made a speech calling the girls there her daughters. I am a poor mother of a wonderful daughter and no rich woman can claim her as her own. I cried for them. Oprah has changed alot over the years.
I have an idea - to reach Hillary personally… as a mischievous thing,, I would write to Hillary, all hand written on good stationery (of course) and mail them all to Ms Ferraro in C/O… I will mail a nice empty box and ask if Ms. Ferraro could box them up and bring it to Hillary. They have been friends for a long time and very loyal.
The only stipulation is to be respectful in your letters.
Anyone think it is a good idea ? At least we know that there is a good chance that the letters will reach Hillary.

Gallup Daily (runnung average of 3 days) is BO48% and McCain 44%. BO maxed at an 8% spread several days ago. This is the first day that would have any influence from Palin’s speech.

The answer to your question, and I mean this sincerely and with respect for your very valid question, is this:
Puma PAC is NOT supporting McCain/Palin.
McCain/Palin are WRONG on many, if not most, of the issues that are of grave importance to REAL Democratic VOTERS, like: health care, women’s rights, the environment, govmt spending, etc etc.
Puma PAC is Protesting the Presidential Election because we WILL NOT reward the DONC and Obama for stealing the nomination, savagely attacking a woman candidate (or letting the media dogs do it for them) using sexist weapons, and for DISENFRANCHISING millions of Democratic voters.
A vote for Obama/Biden is a stamp of APPROVAL for what they and the DONC did to OUR party this year.
Puma PAC is voting Nothing On Top for Democrats this year. That means — vote for as many down-ticket dems as you can, but leave the top spot blank on the Dem side. You can Protest the Election by leaving the Prez spot blank, voting 3rd party, writing in Hillary or another candidate, OR voting McCain/Palin. It is up to YOU.
Puma PAC’s goal is to reform the Dem Party — not to become Republicans.

At the same time, evoking emotions as being appalled, outraged, etc seems to become less and less of a response for me. And it because it’s personal as the never ending sexism and mysoginy that I have personally experienced throughout the years. To prevent the anger from erupting, I had to build a defense mechanism in order to try to avoid these types of emotions anymore as it began to destroy my soul. Do I give up fighting this? No. Yet, it is often so hard to keep in pace with the fight. Someone please tell me not to give up…..
