Peace, and a Plan

The 1921 Peace Dollar

Exhaustion has set in folks — I’ll have more to say tomorrow after I get some sleep here in my own bed.

I know many are feeling confusion and anger. BUT I also know that we are NOT about to give up now.

Puma PAC does have a plan after today — it is to effect our original goal: PROTEST THE 2008 ELECTION!

Our plans include:

Targeting the swing states mentioned by a commenter in an earlier thread: Virginia, New Hampshire, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, and Penssylvania.

Reaching out to those voters through phone calls and mailings to let them know they can still be GOOD DEMOCRATS and not vote for Obama.

We will begin tomorrow.

Don’t fight and don’t fret. Tomorrow is another day — let’s make it a better one.

Be Wonderful to Each Other.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS! PLEASE JOIN US HERE!

In the words of Bill Clinton: “Suppose you’re a voter, and you’ve got candidate X and candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don’t think that candidate can deliver on anything at all. Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?”

This is what a poster at NQ wrote:

just read in my local paper that OHIO has a new voting law in place.they have set a sept 30-oct.6 special window in which residents can register and vote on the same day. not only that but photo id is NOT required, only “some sort” of verification of identity and residence.source is romenews, editorial, title- stacking the deck. think its quite relevant to this election

someone there should check it out to see if what the deal is.

Maybe I am just very tired and I do have a bad cold of some sort. But I’m not sure what I’m feeling. I know that I don’t want to feel anger or hatred. I am not called to that.
I lean more toward reconciliation and compromise. These ARE changing times. Desperate times and people truly are struggling.
I have been one who didn’t like MO and can’t say that I really do now. but I saw her crying tonight as Biden’s son spoke about the loss of his Mother and how his Father stood by him and his brother and noticed that I was crying, too.
Much of what Bill Clinton said, also seemed to make sense. When he finished I was left with a feeling that, ok~~~we fought a good fight, like Hillary did, but this time our side did not prevail. If I really believe that my country comes before party, just exactly defines that at this point? To me, I mean.
In many other areas of my life I have come to learn that acceptance is the answer to all my problems.
Whenever I find some person, place, thing, or situation unacceptable to me, I can find no peace, no serenity or peace of mind until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being just exactly the way it is supoosed to be this moment. There is a God, a higher power and it isn’t me. The world does not revolve around me and i don’t control anything but me, and that not very well.
Here, as members of PUMA we have learned to put ourdifferences aside, accept one another as we are and work for a common cause.
Tonight I’m wondering if I’m big enough to do it again, for the sake of the country and stop fighting.It really looks like we are going to see our first black president in America. Like others, I so want to see a WOMAN elected POTUS in my lifetime. But progress is progress and my own parents didn’t live to see either one.
Ok, I am tired. and i am sick. And these are my thoughts tonight as I say good night.
May the Creator bless you all with all good things in life.

#27 tatepuma on 08.27.08 at 11:29 pm

Murphy, love the post. I hope that we will all stand together in our common goal to not hand our nation to the nominee regardless of how we will vote in November, Pumas are a power house and if the core base is fractured it will cause the house to fall. Let’s stay focused on our goal and reform the party as we move forward.

Good night all! Tomorrow is a new day and now we know how to move forward!

#28 Henerietta on 08.27.08 at 11:31 pm

I want to thank the Denver crew. You did a wonderful job, and you worked yourselves to exhaustion. When I saw the group photos, I realized that I had worked with some of you in the election. You are all dedicated and hard working.

I have an idea for a new Party name: The Progressive Union Party. We hear that said a lot in the undemocratic party.

Good night, and blessings to all.

Republicans, Democrats miss presidential filing deadline in TexasAUSTIN - August 27, 2008 - According to the Texas Secretary of State’s office, the Republican and Democratic parties have missed the deadline for filing their presidential nominee certifications.The statutory deadline was 5:00 p.m. on August 26.The Libertarian Party of Texas (LPT) filed its presidential certification on June 30, 2008.Wes Benedict, LPT Executive Director, said, “Bob Barr, our Libertarian presidential candidate, is being kept off the ballot in at least two states (West Virginia and Maine) because of missed deadlines. When Ralph Nader tried to run as an independent in 2004, he was kept off the Texas ballot because he filed after the deadline.”Benedict continued, “Texas law doesn’t make any exceptions for absurdly late nominating conventions. Although Bob Barr should win Texas by default, I expect the Republicans and Democrats will get away with breaking the laws they made. They get away with breaking their promises to voters all the time. It’s a travesty that we have a double standard, where Republicans and Democrats are above the law, but other parties and independents have to comply with every letter of the law.”The Texas Secretary of State lists certified candidates here:http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/candidates/general/2008gensbs.shtmlChapter 192 of the Texas Election Code handles presidential nominations. Section 192.031 specifies the filing deadline.

#35 LaureyPuma on 08.27.08 at 11:40 pm

Good evening everyone,
I just got back from Denver. It was exhilarating to be a part of the 18 million march and to meet many of the wonderful Pumas I have come to know through this blog. I am in awe of the talent of the bloggers that comprise the Just Say No Deal Coalition: Murphy, Riverdaughter, Annabelle, Shtuey, Lady Boomer and others that I am not able to recall due to exhaustion.

I am disappointed in the outcome. But not from the fight. I know that each of us did our level best to exact “change” in this corrupt and unfair election process.

I plan on continuing to fight. As others have written, I will not reward the Democratic party with my vote. I will work to ensure that this kind of sexism - some overt, some subtle never, ever happens again in this country.

That is the only thing I can do with my anger now. I do not believe Ms. Clinton sold out. She did what she had to do and I think she sent us a message. We may have lost the battle, but by God we are going to win the war.

Much love to Daddy’s Darlin’

The 1921 silver dollar gave me a good feeling as I was going to leave the blog for the evening. My father was born in 1921 and gave me a silver dollar just like the one above before he died. He was a very loyal Democrat who would go into the voting booth and just pull the Democrat lever and vote down the ticket Democratic, except for one local politician who was deceptive and for the first time in 1990 he voted Republican…The silver dollar is my confirmation (among many other things) that this year is the time to vote against the party…Just a thought..Sweet dreams all!! We need to rest..we have a lot of work to do!!

#38 rtr4hill on 08.27.08 at 11:43 pm

I also have had the same thoughts as LivingGrace after I listened to Hillary. I was awake most of the night thinking about it. As of right now I cannot in good conscience vote for Barack Obama. I have heard nothing from him that shows me he is ready to lead. I can watch any speech that Hillary has made and be comfortable that she is a leader I could trust. The way the Democratic Party has turned on me and those like me tells me that it just isnt my party anymore. I didnt leave it but it left me. Change has come to them and I am no longer feeling like i belong there.

#39 YesSheCan on 08.27.08 at 11:43 pm

Reposting from downstairs:

I’m sick of the far right and the far left, special interests, and corporations having so much influence over politics.

Let’s form a coalition of people from all parties who are in the middle (the MAJORITY)

Push for fair elections, ethical politicians, and common sense in government.

*I’m not talking about a new party, more like a sort of watch dog group, with members from EVERY party.*
A purpose for PUMA after we make sure Obama loses?

I just checked my email and found an email from a superdelegate I wrote to earlier today. Here is a quote:

“Any delegate can vote on the floor. All delegates must sign their name next to their vote and their signature and vote are open record.”

Open record? I wonder how we can find out more.

#42 zephyr on 08.27.08 at 11:46 pm

First off…THANKS to all the hardworking PUMAS in Denver and on the blog. Next I think we all need a breather …a time to sort out what all this endeavor has meant to us and how it will ultimately affect our lives. Then we need to turn our anger, disappointment, disillusionment and disgust into the ferver and passion to work for justice, truth and honesty in politics….addressing fraudlent practices in both parties. I feel our basic democratic rights have been sorely violated. I am willing to fight on. But I think it will have to be a consolidated effort of all the JSND groups to be effective.

OUR MILLIONS OF VOICES HAVE ONLY BEGUN TO BE RAISED. OUR SPIRITS ARE CRYING OUT IN THE WILDERNESS. THIS IS OUR HOME NOW. WE ARE PUMAS!!! WE WILL CARRY ON.WE WILL BE HEARD. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED!!

Yes, I will remember in November and McCain will get my vote…but it is a protest vote only.

Very nice. You are in a wonderful spiritual place. However, I do not believe that means we must vote for that person. The reason he is there may be because God wants PUMA to grow into a national organization. We know not the reason.

I do know this entire Democratic thing has been about manipulation and control. Love is the opposite of manipulation and control therefore I must oppose it. I will fight for FREEDOM because freedom is love is god.

#38, rtr4Hill, I can relate to what you are saying, I felt the same way after listening to BC and then reality set in that no matter what is said, I can not give my vote to someone I do not trust nor have faith in; I think I will sleep better at night if JM is the president. All I have seen from BO is that he needs everyone to champion his cause instead of him bringing it on home himself, those are not the qualities of a good leader. This week he has used Hillary and Bill to do that. I also realized this evening listening to BC that this is about the democratic party not the voters, they will do whatever it takes to regain control of the WH even if it is to sacrifice one of their own. BC said he was inexperienced, there is a big diffrence in electing a person who has goverend a state than electing someone who had been in the Senate for 143 days and of course BC knows that. As Hillary always said, “they are just words”.

#56 1vote on 08.27.08 at 11:54 pm

I’m not sure how many people here actually blogs to those obama sites. I think we need to fight fire with fire for a change and reach out to those koolaid drinkers with some respect verse to the way they have abuse their privileges in ours. You can’t win everyone but you can win some. Secluding ourselves within our environment doesn’t requires any approval, we need to step out and bring the challenge to them.

I posted this downstairs and want to get it off my chest upstairs too. I have to comment since I feel a need to set the record straight. I’m getting a little tired of Obama being defined as a “progressive” or even as a “liberal.” He is not a progressive (for whatever the h*ll that is supposed to imply)… nor is he a conservative… nor is he a liberal. Obama is a radical and more specifically a marxist. A Black Liberation Theologist Marxist which is even more radical than a regular marxist (if there is such a thing as a more radical marxist). LOL!

We are marathon runners. We keep a steady pace, let others go ahead, and we know when to accelerate in order to win. Unexperienced runners, give everything early and collapse. We are in the middle of a long distance race. We are steady, we will fine tune our strategy as we go, and we will win.
I believe that women, at least of my generation, have a built in long-distance runner gene.

Though I haven’t commented more than once or twice, I joined Pumapac early on, having been lurking at Riverdaughter’s on June 1st when the unparty was born. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the people at the Puma Den on Sunday and to work on some signs there, too. They may or may not remember me.
With this nomination, which I don’t believe was ever really in doubt from the perspective of the leadership (regardless of our hopes and efforts), we have to shift into a different gear, away from “winning” and think in a more strategic way. Distasteful as it must have been to her, that’s what Hillary has done. Voting for Obama is out of the question for most of us, but I wonder what came of the political horsetrading that must have occurred behind the scenes. In the About section here it says, “There will be no unity in the Democratic party until the voices of the 18 million voters who support Hillary Clinton are heard and heeded.” She asked Tuesday night if we were supporting her because of her or because of the people she wants to fight for, the causes she champions — the 18 million of us. We haven’t made a cult of personality out of our admiration and affection for her and she doesn’t want one. Her speech mentioned UHC twice that I remember, the second in a way that recalled her own plan rather than Obama’s — every American covered. Biden did the same tonight. Is that something she got for her endorsement? Isn’t that something important we want? How about Hillary as Senate Majority leader, where she could shepherd real Democratic bills through Congress on our behalf? May that be coming? DO WE HAVE any knowledge of whether or not there has been a deal made that shows — for once this time out –respect for our side of this coalition party and the power of our votes manifested in her popular victory? We’re disappointed and angry, but politics has always and will always be a dirty business, and only approximating the ideal even at its best. We have to be practical, careful not to undercut our own long-term interests, both as a movement for political reform and as individuals. I still don’t advocate voting for Obama. Their side deserves to lose for the shady and contemptible ways they’ve behaved. Let them lose on their own. I’m not sure that working gleefully (or grimly) against the party, at least until we know of further perfidy or malice on their part against us, is the way to go forward with a movement to reform it. Are we, like Brazile, going to destroy it to preserve it? Or, are we going to move away from reform, and work toward a viable third party or a coalition of smaller parties that may finally break the stranglehold of the two big ones? I’m interested in that idea, but where will the money come from? Despite the talk, Hillary raised approx. three million in July, not even close to the six that we were hearing about after Independence Day. Either project will be a long-term goal requiring long-term planning and hard-nosed political dealing. If we’re serious about either, we’re going to have to get moving if we hope to be in any position to affect the next election cycle.

Taffy #57, I saw the kid’s camp you’re talking about on BO’s site a few month’s back. I think I took a screen capture of it. “Camp Obama” (ugh I hate to even spell his name). I’ll go look and post it tomorrow if so.

Nite all. I’m a fairly new Puma, joined a few weeks ago, but “rejoined” last night when I couldn’t find my old logon. LOL. I’ve been battling along with others to fight BO all over the ‘net for a long time, but it is growing increasingly harder to do so. They are censoring us more strongly every day. It is truly frightening.

#84 DeepSouth on 08.28.08 at 12:17 am

I’m turning in….wow what a ride! I’m wondering if we can reach out to the young women in this country of every color and background….have our own “camps” on myspace and facebook letting the college crowds know that their mother’s burned their bras for this kind of injustice….fight fire with fire.

Good night everyone!

Camps of any kind are just plain creepy and cult like. If people want to make a difference they will find the right outlets. It truly has to be organic.

we must not allow the dnc to be rewarded for what they have done.
we have got to bring them down we can yes we can
im so distraught tonight i really just cant believe this has happened to our country
nancy , dean, ob, his freak wife and all need to be horse whipped
im sad that money talks that loud
ob would sell his soul for a buck if he had a soul ( and actually im betting he sold it a long time ago)
Please dear God let the whiteieieieie tape come out tomorrow and let them arrest him for something and let it rain and storm in denver tomorrow and dear
God im sure you dont want him but pleease take him anyway.

\now i feel better
good night all and God bless

luckyseven…i called the dncc (not dnc) and told them i had tried removing my name from the list and it wasn’t being done. told them i was extremely upset and wanted to quit getting the emails, i wasn’t going to contribute because of bo. they apologized and said my name would be removed and it was! Maybe you need a little more personal touch on your end!!

#88 DeepSouth on 08.28.08 at 12:21 am

“camps” was a word used loosely….think of it as simply an information outlet. Myspace and Facebook are today’s social networks for young people. Networking and passing flyers and info on college campuses has been done for ages.

Those are the right outlets for today’s youth.

PUMA ALERT PUMA ALERT PUMA ALERT

This is Mama

Denver is surprisingly quiet tonight. It seems as if the reason that all of the people were here is over. We came for Hillary but apparently a lot of other people came for Hillary.

Well now is the time for rest. And then we will begin the real battle. We have not yet begun to fight.

When the Patriots lost the Super Bowl, Randy Moss said: you lick your wounds, you mourn your loss, and then you get up and face the new day and you fight again.

Love to all the PUMAs
Mama

I will be back in Boston tomorrow.

An young obot wispered (yes, wispered) to me on the street the other day and asked if I was voting for him. It was very creepy. Needless to say, he didn’t give me a pin!

Thank you for your part in the PUMA action in Denver. I really appreciated your posting above. All very insightful questions about Hillary’s future. However, looking at the actions throughout the primary and now at the convention, I just don’t see O and his crowd giving Hillary anything. They will just keep her in the background with the threat of working against her in every area they can including her re-election in New York. They have her over a barrel and there’s not much she can do unless O is defeated and Howard Dean is removed from his perch. Bottom line, they played down and dirty and they will continue every bit of that in the future if they are allowed to take over this country. I’ve seen too much of this stuff in life to think that all of a sudden they’re going to play nice. It just doesn’t work that way. She’ll have to keep her self on the straight and narrow if O is elected. She’d probably do better by going into the private sector and working on issues there.

#95 mzebest on 08.28.08 at 12:30 am

Good night everyone. I didn’t get a chance to post a lot… partly because it was overwhelming to read through so many posts today and partly cause I was in semi shock and processing what I witnessed today and trying to come to terms with what I need to do to fight back.

But I did want to say that I suspect there will be a huge flux of new people now… due to the media attention and due to many feeling similar feelings that we experienced (at the end of the primaries when we were motivated to find others that felt the same way).

I would like to remind everyone that among many of the new comers will be people with lots of great intentions. But also some that wish to divide us. Resist the urge to engage with those that use the same divisive methods of BO. Don’t engage… just remember that higher ground we can always hold ourselves to and just stay focused on the donut (rather than the hole).

Stay well and stay safe PUMA’s. Good night and gather the strength. Tomorrow is another day. I have Clinton’s words in my head and plan to draw strength from them for many days to come.

#96 nutmegbelle on 08.28.08 at 12:30 am

#86 RonniePuma, here’s my theory (and I believe it’s a good one): The billionaire who’s behind the “Ayres” commercials that has BO & Co splitting a brick over, I’ll bet HAS the “Whitie” tape already, because rumor was he put up a cool mil for it a while back. I think he has it and was just waiting for the sleezebag, stinky BO to be (ugh) nominated before releasing it. This, right along with our Golden Girl and Bill paying lip service to BO and sourpuss MO is the reason they did it: to clear them 100% when the stuff hits the fan, which it will, Oh, believe me, IT WILL.

OK, I said I was headin’ to nite-nite, this time I mean it.

#98 halligan on 08.28.08 at 12:33 am

And by the way, we can kiss Universal Health Care goodbye. O didn’t cover some 15 million people in his plan and that hasn’t changed. He can’t do it because he’ll be spending too much money chasing Osama. Read his plan and see how much its going to cost to have a UHC, a decent Veteran’s package, an on-going war in Afghanistan, social security, and all the other promises he made. It just isn’t going to happen because this guy has offered too much and doesn’t have a clue one on how to pay for it other than raise taxes on the middle class which barely exists and getting more from those of us who have worked hard, saved well, decreased debt, raised kids, put them through college (on no scholarships), and are now living on pensions which the states and taxes continually reduce and take from us. An O administration only cares about those under forty. The rest of us can go to our graves as far as he’s concerned.

I can’t sleep…Trinity Church, Rev. Wright, and Rev. Pflegger…this is MO and BO…Nation of Islam…reparations…misogyny and the end of Israel….

The only thing that made me laugh is a friend of mine told me that if the DNC was a broadway play, it would have closed before intermission….

if only it was that easy…

I pray for the WHITEY TAPE and other things….

#100 Violet Hill on 08.28.08 at 12:36 am

I’ve been an ardent supporter of Hillary from the beginning, campaigned heavily for her and donated hundreds dollars to her campaign. I really think that this roll call vote and the whole convention has been a joke. I was expecting the democratic leaders to at least emphasize what a historic campaign this has been for women.

I am not falling in line. I’m now switching from Democrat to Independent and will vote for McCain in November. I’m not telling anyone how to vote and I respect every PUMA’s decision, but I really believe the best way to defeat Obama is by voting for his opponent, John McCain.

#101 Goninasimonejr on 08.28.08 at 12:41 am

Thanks so much to all the PUMAs in Denver who helped make Hillary the center of the USA and the whole election yesterday. And to all the rest of you. Pumas went from sore losers to the harbingers of 2012 and the leader everyone can see is the real Democratic president in our future. Much has been lost. Much has been won. Much more to do. So what else is new? Cheers! Get some rest! We have a Nobama to defeat!

#102 denverpuma on 08.28.08 at 12:41 am

They might wish to play nice because they’ll lose if they don’t. This isn’t really about the admirable Hillary. My question is did she, professional that she is, manage to make a deal that gives us something substantial in down payment for unObamatized rank and file Dem votes in November and if she did, can anyone clue us in? They know she has the support of 18 million Americans, and that is power, even if MSNBC won’t say so.

#103 Oneof18million cracks... on 08.28.08 at 12:42 am

#24 LivingGrace, What a very eloquent post. I found myself sharing the same thoughts and feelings as you speak of. I came away with feeling like there will always be injustice in this world. Yes, we can make a difference, but are we making a difference for our own self interest or of the good of others? When Hillary asked were we in it for JUST her, or were we in it for others as well, I had to examine my that deeply.

I for one was touched to see Michelle Obama shed uncontrolable tears when Beau Biden told his story. I had tears myself and looked over and yes, even my husband had tears. Barrack and Michelle have not allowed the voters see their emotions. My husband made a great point tonight which really is settling into me. He said, “When Bill Clinton was running for President, 16 years ago we were young and so uninformed. We were enamored with him. He spoke of how he wanted to make America a better place for all. And so now its the younger generation who has seen the Iraq war, fear they may be called up to join and see their parents and grandparents struggling, so it makes sense they would see Barrack Obama as our Bill Clinton.”

We didn’t have the internet to go researching Bill, we rarely read the newspapers and couldn’t afford to buy the magazines with raising three small children. All we had to rely on was the 6:00 and 11:00 nightly news. Back then I think they were less biased. I’m really not sure. Maybe the media has always been biased and we didn’t see it because it was our only source of information or maybe because they were for the person running we were. Anyway, I think there has to come the time all the PUMA members have to individually ask themself when is it time to accept all things happen for a reason. Have faith in God that who ever is President that our Lord will ultimately be the one in control and will intercede when necessary.

Each PUMA has to be proud we accomplished being a part in getting Hillary’s name placed into the roll call, as painful as it was to watch. As my Mom and I am certain your mothers said to you, “Be careful what you wish for,you may get it and realize it wasn’t what you thought it would be.” I had to turn my t.v. off, I could NOT sit and watch that mockery of democracy as they made a sham of it. I am glad to say I did not see Hillary when she gave New York’s delegates to Barrack Obama. That would have been even more painful. I watched Hillary, Bill and Chelsea tonight and I am accepting they are going to be okay,and so am I.

I did not get the sense I needed to go on with the fight to boycott the 2008 election. I have NO idea who I will vote for in November. But from here, I do know that I need to go it alone. I need to get back in touch with my inner self. As much as I needed PUMAs to help me with their support these past couple of weeks leading up to this convention, I feel I am strong and I need to take the next 60 odd days left to examine my soul and heart before I go to the polls. I need to return to my daily life with my husband, children, grandchildren and friends. I need to come to my computer for FUN and relaxation if only to play a few games of solitaire.

I will check in from time to time and maybe even post now and then, but as for continuing the fight, I am going to trust that the women’s sufferage brought about the right for me to vote, Hillary was the first woman to run for President and Barrack Obama is the first elected African/American candidate to run for the President of the United States. We are a progressive nation, and I have faith we will continue to reach great milestones.

I thank you PUMAs for all the empowerment I received from you, I thank Murphy for beginning this blog and for all the hard dedicated work she has put into it the efforts of demanding democracy from the Democratic party. I sense from learning you took action in 2000 for Mc Cain because of your feelings against the swift boaters, I am certain you will remain at the helm of proactive groups for what ever the cause you believe so strongly in. I thank the ones who did the great videos and I will cherish them. I heard Hillary loud and clear….Keep going, keep going, keep going. I will keep going, only like Pumas told Hillalry…”We can take it from here” I must say….. I can take it from here.

I refuse to believe good guys finish last, and you get rewarded for breaking all the rules. And if and when that does happen if life, I have to know “I can rise” above it. As I taught my children growing up, sometimes things are not fair, but most of the time they are. I don’t want to carry anger, bitter, sad, confused or frustrated feelings with me day to day.
The serenity prayer says it all.

My very best to all of you. :)

#103 I applaud you, I know the feeling of sadness I had today when Hillary was marched out and had to give up her dreams and her hard work. It brought back to me all the times as a woman I had to take a back seat to a promotion while the men moved on. It reminded me that today I have been at a job over 20 years and I am still not paid what a man would be. I so had hoped that the glass ceiling had been cracked but it hasn’t. I find it pretty ironic that in the end a woman had to pave the way, make the sacrifice . Sometimes it seems that is what I have done most of my life. This time I will take a stand against the democratic party, the most hurtful thing of all for me was to watch the women in this party turn on Hillary. It is still a man’s world and we havent come as far as I had hoped. I will stay in the fight and it isnt as hard as perhaps it would of been if I believed this man was ready to lead but in my heart I know he isnt. You are right, the serenity prayer does say it all

#110 glennmcgahee on 08.28.08 at 12:59 am

Thanks to you all. It was clear from the coverage that youmade a stand and were heard. It definitely helps that it will be remembered that the opposition to Obama was not racist. It was about the finest candidate ever being pushed aside for a marketing gimick. Obama WILL lose. There is no doubt.I plan to tell all my local democrat officials that they should look to the party’s leadership when they ask why I no longer support them unconditionally. I will now look at their Republican challengers in a new light. AND, I will be voting for John McCain in November.

#111 EWard on 08.28.08 at 1:01 am

A special thank you to all the Pumas that went to Denver. Fantastic job of standing up for our rights.

I know that it’s late and I will repost this tomorrow. The number one goal is to defeat BO. Look at this race from his perspective. He was able to game and cheat in the caucuses and buy off the super delegates. In addition, the MSM and the leaders of the DP are his accomplices.

It doesn’t matter what the polls say, BO, ACORN, the DP, the MSM, and lots of wealthy people are backing him. THEY ARE PLACING THEIR OWN SELF INTERESTS BEFORE THE NEEDS OF THE NATION AND ITS CITIZENS.

If you view events from BO’s perspective, he’s cheated and lied and got away with it. In the GE, I am joining forces with Senator McCain, the Republicans, Pumas, and others to defeat him.

By the way, Stanley Kurtz of National Review was the same journalist that exposed the link between BO and ACORN.
Good night all!

#112 Dem4Hillary on 08.28.08 at 1:02 am

I have to say, when I heard her speech to the NY press club, not the one last night but the one yesterday morning to the NY Press, I was moving very close to voting Nobama because she said “i am still committed to the causes that I have been fighting for. In order to accomplish the agenda that I see for the country, I have to have a democratic president.”

I was so close because that speech was more like look, I need this so that we can accomplish the things that are best for this country.

However, after that spectacle and mockery. After Obama’s nomination speech began with “I’m a registered republican” when I know for a fact that multiple delegates were replaced because they refused to unify and then when I found out about strong arming tactics that were engaged and the total mockery made out of our votes cast from January to June of this year, I cannot vote for him. There is nothing that anyone could say to make me vote for him. At the conclusion of Bill’s speech, commentators said “well all the Obama supporters should be happy” What does it matter if they are happy or not? He still needs our votes and he has made no attempt to get our votes and in fact has flagrantly disregarded us.

#113 Anna7000 on 08.28.08 at 1:02 am

couldn’t sleep. just checking the blog. see a lot of tired folks and also reflection. i do believe that for those of us who want to fight on, it will be impossible to do if we maintain the level of rage we have had to this point. i, for one, cannot live like that. it’s harmful to my own well being. however, nor do i want to shrink away into a corner and allow this travesty to go unaddressed. i need to find a way to sustain my passion and commitment, while also sustaining myself. i have ignored the latter for many months now and know i cannot and should not continue to do that. so, how to carry on, keep the fire lit to fight another day, but not have it burn me up on the inside. any and all suggestions are welcome.

WE need to keep the fight up people. Think of Rev. Pflegger belittling white people and Hillary…this is who we are talking about. THINK ABOUT IT!!!

BO gave that man $100,000.00 AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS in 2004 for “community services.” BO also failed to contact ONE BLACK FEMALE LEADER during the 2 years he went around this country and spoke to and PROMISED MALE black leaders OWNERSHIP of states and control of MONEY….

DO NOT DRINK THE KOOL AID. STOP LOOKING AT IT THROUGH ROSE COLORED GLASSES. THE ONC SCREWED US AND SCREWED HILLARY AND ARE FAR FAR WORSE THAN THE Republicans because they are HYPOCRITES in addition to being liars and crooks and misogynists.

For those of you not able to fight, go rest. For those of you able to fight, GET READY. This fight is a big one and we need all hands on deck.

Remember Rev. Wright, REMEMBER Rev. Plfegger, Remember Louis Farrakhan, Remember them all because I can damn well promise you they will NEVER forget the promises made to them by SOB….

DO NOT GO GENTLY INTO THE NIGHT….FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!

DO NOT DRINK THE KOOL AID….FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!

McCAIN will be our Victory, if not HILLARY, DOWN WITH FASCISM…down with the ONC!!

Lost faith for the moment.

Trying to re-group, but it is difficult.

There are so many venues in which the group to which I belong (aging lower-middle class white female) is or has been discarded as useless garbage. It’s hard to keep picking myself back up and I am tired.

NO ONE SAID the war would be easy…nothing worth anything ever is…

This is not one where we can sing songs and love one another, this is a different kind of battle.

take care of you, but then let’s take care of business. If you cannot bare the day to day, just vote with your VOTE COUNTING and taking BO out of hte race. If you can handle the day to day do the prowls, etc.

BUT DO NOT GIVE IN, DO NOT GIVE UP, remember that women have died to give us the right to vote and I’m sorry but breast implants, eating disorders, and rampant poverty among women w/ children who have been abandoned by their husbands is NOT ENOUGH.

Hillary won this battle, and they wrenched it from her. Many watched and did nothing. PUMA BATTLED HARD. We did not win this battle, but we can win the war.

BO MUST BE DEFEATED. Go rest for a week, watch the republicans tear him a new one, and then come back and fight.

I’m begging you…as one puma to another…do not go gently into the night…

Funny, I watched the “news” for about an hour and I was clicking around but I don’t really know what happened. I caught a clip of Hillary stopping the vote but the camera was in tight and I couldn’t see, did people boo? did they walk out? The TV news is worthless.

Sleep well Murphy and Mama and all of the PUMA leaders who went to Denver. I think you need a few days rest. We are not going anywhere.

sharpclaws…I’m fighting FOR YOU AND WITH YOU.

Do not let them win. Rest, regroup, and come back. If we simply have you and your mind we can win :)

Remember this, I would not trade my position for anything. I do not want to be an oppressor, a hater, a misogynist, a liar, a racist and a hypocrite. I would rather be proud and true and good. I am glad that we are on the same side….

#123 Rugger_in_LA on 08.28.08 at 1:10 am

I don’t know who it was — or when it was, maybe last night. But someone made an excellent point about saying “not so fast” as far as McCain is concerned. I think we are generally in different states of mad as hell, totally bummed or dismayed. But if we look back at the impact of our movement — the Pumas got the attention of the DNC, Delegates and the MSM - and I think we made an impact but I guess Dean and his flunkies were going to anoint his one-ness come hell or high water. The greek temple is built .. they rented the togas and the kool-aide is flowing.

But … McCain as a candidate looks interesting and he really really needs us and is reaching out to us. But remember as the roll count “vote” was playing out the RNC was busy working their platform which among other things is pusing a constitutional amendment stopping Roe vs. Wade. Definitely not your centrist safe zone.

I say if McCain wants us — not so fast ! he will have to earn us just the same as the anointed one has failed at doing.

Remember — we the Kool-Aide free .. have the smarts to think for ourselves. We had a look at BO and said he is not that guy .. looks slick, sounds nice .. but he is not that guy - we don’t fit into his plans because we questioned his experience.

I say lets pass the hat for a tank of gas for the Puma mobile, get a family size supply of Mosquito repellent and buy a map of Minnesota and make ourselves heard.

Might be fun.

Might be productive.

Let them know we are not that easy …

If November is anything like this DNC convention travesty we are all in trouble. Clearly, there was/is a reason for all of the audacity.

#125 mzebest on 08.28.08 at 1:11 am

I for one will keep fighting… I keep thinking that our democracy and constitutional rights are not a given. They are not guaranteed to always be there. Was it Franklin who said he gave us a Republic and it’s up to us to keep it? Well — I intend to keep it. So while I may rest tonight — the words of Hillary is cemented in my mind, “When you hear the dogs… keep going.” I thought those words were a message to her delegates as well –to fight against the tyranny of Obama thugs… apparently they didn’t realize the message could apply to them — but it certainly can apply to all of us and gosh darn it — I plan to apply it to my actions. Cause the truth is — if we live those words in our daily actions and choices… it’s the most empowering thing we will ever experience.

“NO ONE SAID the war would be easy…nothing worth anything ever is…”

~~~~~~~~~~
Exactly… and as disappointing as today has been… sometimes things have to go a certain way. Sometimes things have to take a turn for the worse before we can get to the better. If anyone has seen the movie “Charlie Wilson’s War” — it’s an outstanting movie that has a ton of relevance to what is going on now and what led up to now. But in that movie — the story of the Zen master is a lesson to take with us in everything that happens. Sometimes bad things seem awful but ultimately lead to great results… and visa versa. So the Zen master’s response to anything — whether it seems bad or whether it seems good — he has the same response… “We’ll see.”
That’s how I feel tonight. It may seem like a bad day… but I’ll simply say, “We’ll see.”
#129 Zee on 08.28.08 at 1:18 am
MamaPuma and Murphy and all the Denver contingent…thank you!!!!!
I know what an exhausting route that is, and I only wish I could’ve helped. You did a STELLAR job.
And now, how fitting that, like Bill, you are home or on the way. The Clintons were the only reason to tune in and now it’s over.
Bruce, did you notice how no network mentioned Bill’s neverending ovation?
I signed up to help McCain, the first hour of today, just after midnight.
And I remain committed to PUMA actions. The DNC must pay for their betrayal and we must progress democracy ourselves.
#130 fivedja on 08.28.08 at 1:20 am
I am going to stay with pumas all the way. Nobama will not get my vote. For all of you who have decided to vote for McCain, go to his web site and join Democrats and Independents for McCain. Maybe there will be such a surge of Democrats joing McCain’s Team that the DNC will start to see what they have done tonight. It’s too late now for them to try to make amends and get us to jump on the Nobama band wagon. I can not see myself ever voting for a Democrat again. (unless it is Hillary) If they think they don’t need us, they will get a rude awakening in November.
I was hoping at least some of our prowls had worked. They seemed to be. But today, the DNC made sure Americans would not see how many voters were supporting Hillary. They made a joke of democracy. They took my vote and gave it to Nobama. They made a sham of the roll call.
If that was not bad enough, they showed President Clinton disrespect by not giving him a prime time speaking slot . I will consider myself an Independent from now on.
I had planned to vote for McCain anyway if Hillary was not the nominee. Not because I was angry or bitter, but because he is the next best candidate. I admire and respect him. I can not say the same for Nobama.
A third party is starting to look better and better. Murphy’s right; tomorrow is another day.
Evening PUMAs… Well as we all knew… it’s been an incredibly difficult day for all of us. I got the news about what had happened during the roll call vote while I was at work and I’ve been depressed ever since. I’ve been talking to my friends and they have made some great points. But the thing that really got me was a thought I had. During the latter parts of the Primary seasons Hillary would always say something like this toward the end of her speechs. (Speeches? That just doesn’t look right….)
“To the young mothers and fathers out there who can lift their little girls up on their shoulders and say ‘See? You can be anything you want to be’”
But that’s not true is it? That’s what this Primary has shown me. Now I will say, I am a young man with no children. But I think about the future alot. And I know someday I’m going to have a little girl or a little boy. Some of my friends (Both my age bracket and older) have kids of their own. Now what do you say when your little girl, who is old enough to kind of understand what’s been going on, that there is a woman running for President I mean, walks up to you and asks
“Mommy (Or daddy)? Why didn’t she win?”
How do you answer that? It brings me to tears to think that we might have to say “Because she’s a woman”
#133 InuHanyou1701 on 08.28.08 at 1:25 am
And I really hope I didn’t offend anyone by saying that by the way.
#134 jallen0347 on 08.28.08 at 1:26 am
I refuse to accept the farse of this convention…. I registered as “none of these parties”, so I suppose that means I officialy own my own vote….
” recieved a nice little letter from Hillary’s campaign asking for a controbution. This was my response:
I wanted to take the time that I have the utmost respect for you and President Clinton, and I amazed at your strength and courage…. However I refuse to vote for Obama who manipulated this election to benefit him…. His online supporters have been out right nasty and belittling. I refuse to come down to their level, I expect them to come up to mine…. If they want my respect they will earn it. however they have already lost my vote…..
#135 marcelka on 08.28.08 at 1:26 am
Look at it the other way around: not what Hillary negotiated for us, but what leverage we gave to her. Because of PUMAS not falling in line, Hillary ended the primaries stronger than ever. Well positioned for 2012. If we did fall in line, she would be under the bus, with no chances to compete in 2012. In addition, she will not be accused for robbing the chances of the first viable AA candidate. He will do it, himself.
Please, take time to smell the roses!
We gave her the opportunity to be our president in four years.
I believe from this point on it will be much easier. We have two years to prepare, vs. two months!
Furthermore, when the DNC really understands that we will not fall in line (they will get it only in November), they will never again take us, or our candidate for granted.
Hey anna7000:
It was his nominating speech to put his name into nomination. It was given by a young democrat from Tennessee who said “As a registered republican”
Now here is the real kicker: Tennessee does not have party registration. So, Obama’s own nomination speech began with a bold face lie that was said for what I assume to be good political theater and rhetoric
I’m sure you’ve gone on to bed now (an hour after the post) but I have to say this. Hopefully you’ll find it in the morning. The weepy story of the Biden family is all fine and good but with all due respect, what does it have to do with BO being a good president? What does MO being able to cry on cue for the camera have to do with BO being a good president?
Saying we just have to resolve ourselves to accepting something unacceptable so we can find peace, is not the spirit this country was founded on. Remember the Boston Tea Party?
This whole “historic FIRST woman, FIRST black man blah, blah, blah, is really starting to grate on me. If we really do believe in equality, lets stop drawing attention to our differences (race, religion or gender) and just fight for the best PERSON to lead America.
As for being sucked in by anything Bill uttered in his speech, look at his quote less than 24 hours earlier. Listen to the clips from his primary speeches. He no more believed that drivel he was spilling tonight than we did. We may never know the truth about how they convinced him to stand up and say those things about BO tonight. But it did not line up with anything he’s said or done so far in this election.
Don’t let exhaustion and emotion cloud your logical thinking. Hope you feel better soon and get some sweet rest. Take time off and heal yourself. The tide is turning and Americans are smarter than BO gives them credit for.
#142 Dem4Hillary on 08.28.08 at 1:53 am
I
can’t tell you what an honor it is to be here today to nominate Barack Obama as the next President of the United States.
#145 Taffy on 08.28.08 at 2:07 am
layaway i would have to check the rules again. I know there is a possibility that it can be given to Hillary if bo resigns or is found unfit for office
#146 Asian4Hillary on 08.28.08 at 2:09 am
I try to sleep, but my anger and frustration of the event today in Denver is making me restless. I’m like a PUMA in a cage walking around and getting agitated ever second, thinking how to break those iron bars around me. They’re offering me a beautiful steak in golden platter, but I’m not taking it; I wouldn’t even drink water from the golden cup even when I’m dying of thirst.
LivingGrace, that’s how I feel, I’ve finally found the right words to express it. Our single vote guaranteed under our constitution is the backbone of Democracy, remove it; Democracy is DEAD. We have lost the battle today, PUMAPAC and JSND only have 60 days to prepare; but we’ve all done something quite remarkable -in that short span of time, we all become savvy in organization, we’re a very focus group. We don’t have millions of dollars like they do, what we have is our number. We have a purpose, we all know what to do, we have to fix our corrupt democratic process or else we’ll eventually lose democracy; this two goes hand in hand, one can’t survive without the other.
The DNC and NObama have committed the grievest mistake and UNFORGIVABLE, due to their own greed and hunger for power, they’ve destroyed trust and confidence of the American people towards their party. The democratic party have trampled upon what we all embrace as SACRED, OUR VOTE. They’ve respected us and laugh about it and say, “they’ll come around.” We’re not coming around, WE WILL TEACH THEM LESSON in November and for many years to come, until they understand REAL POWER RESIDES WITH THE PEOPLE AS PROMULGATED IN OUR CONSTITUTION.
I don’t know the rules, and this election cycle has shown us that common sense doesn’t count for much. However, if Hillary got 18 million votes and Biden dropped out of the race a long time ago, it makes sense that Hillary would become the nominee. After all, Biden was “named,” and Hillary was voted for.
#150 doctorate on 08.28.08 at 2:11 am
Too little, too late from the now nominee. Moving on, moving forward.
In contrast to the stated hopes of so many, Senator Obama never reached out to Hillary Clinton or her supporters following her suspension. He did not help pay down her debt in any meaningful way. There was not a real roll call vote during the convention acknowledging Hillary’s historical accomplishment. Thus, the candidate of change is completely disconnected from half the Democrat Party, and anything he does now to that effect can be considered disingenuous…and viewed as pandering.
To discourage the type of behavior the Obama campaign epitomized, the corruption in the Democrat Party must be excised going forward. The Party must be brought back to its core values. This is an impossible task under the current power brokers. People like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and John Kerry must be ousted, as well as all senators and congressional representatives who as superdelegates voted opposite their constituents’ wishes. The same holds true for those who prematurely endorsed Senator Obama in order to suppress the vote, upstage Hillary as she won more and more big states, or coerce voters into following their lead and switching over. There are strong candidates opposing most of these folks this fall.
We must also demand that junta heads Howard Dean and Donna Brazile resign when Obama loses in November; if they don’t step down immediately at that time, we must make any future financial support of the DNC contingent on their leaving.
The entire Democrat primary process needs to be reformed, starting with the elimination of caucuses and superdelegates. The voting itself should be confined to no more than two to three months; 10 states should each vote over five specified dates on a rotating calendar of states, with campaigning in between the various election days. These restrictions alone would assure a fairer, more cost-effective process in which someone with little or no national experience would be weeded out early due to lack of recognition and accomplishment. This would limit the financial burden to citizens supporting these candidates over too many months. This would also end the bribing of superdelegates that came to light this time around and which has probably always taken place. At its end, the process should culminate in a true and honest roll call vote according to traditional DNC rules without intimidation or bribery.
Probably the most important thing we can also do starting now is to work with John McCain to add healthcare reform to his platform, and to secure an agreement that he will give Hillary an influential role in his administration in that capacity. This is a worthwhile effort even for folks who plan to stay home in November or select a third-party candidate, or for those who may eventually drink the arsenic-laced kool-aid.
Since America is not realistically going to put someone in office with little more than 140 days in the U.S. Senate, it would serve us well to work with John McCain and Carly Fiorina to ensure that we are heard on the issues FDR’s party traditionally stood for and cared about. Senator McCain’s people already seem to be listening to Hillary supporters more than Senator Obama ever did. They will virtually lock in a win if they address these issues in a way that connects with Clinton and Reagan Democrats.
The corrupt media needs to be exposed; Geraldine Ferraro is calling for studies by research groups to help quantify the bias shown on behalf of Barack Obama and against Hillary Clinton during the primary. MSNBC, NBC, CNN, CBS and several far-left blog sites have proved to be beyond biased, and some of these should be permanently avoided, their sponsors boycotted.
Finally, we should elect more women to congress. Overall, their record (Nancy Pelosi excepted) is on the humane side of most issues we all care about. Kim Gandy of NOW had an article to this effect entitled Dragging Society Out of the Dark Ages: Elected Women Make a Difference, May 16, 2008, in her newsletter, Below the Belt. Many pro-women’s issues’ organizations have sprouted up since Hillary began her race for the White House, including notably, WomenCount.pac, which was so forceful and effective in getting its message out demanding fair treatment of Hillary and pushing back against the coercive calls for her early withdrawal.
LayawayLou -
I’ve been following the Berg lawsuit - The documents are now in Dean’s hands, it has made it through the first rounds - Motion to Dismiss, etc.
No, Biden will not be choice as his was only the nominated VP of an ineligible nominee, Obama.
There is some difference of opinion on what happens next if it goes through - some think Hillary, as the second place finisher would step in, some think new votes would have to be cast. Most don’t know what would happen, since no party has ever tried to get a non-qualified person elected POTUS.
Leave it to the DNC to screw things up. I do know it is on a fast-track for resolution, but if Obama wins before it is settled he is sure to pull a Bush and seal all the records. He’s trying to do that now.
#154 mzebest on 08.28.08 at 2:13 am
A thought about Bill Clinton’s speech. He talked about how we have to remember that there was a time when the Republicans had control of the White House and the majority of the other government offices and we saw the effects of what happened when one party had that much control…. (he then proceeded to describe the increase in homelessness, deficit, war, etc.). In the context of this he also made the observation (and I thought a brilliant thought) about the power of example rather than example of power.
I took all of this to mean that he was laying out a course of action for us to keep in mind. That we also have to be equally aware of that much power with the Democrats… especially in the context that while the Clintons are about power through example… Obama (and the DNC) is about example through their power. It’s all connected (those two thoughts).
Unfortunately — I don’t think many people are discerning enough. Or pay attention to the details enough to get it (”it” being the “read between the lines” message of what he’s really warning the public to be against).
#119 jenniforhillary - Well said! Ditto 142 million! (registered voters)
I came to this site, led by God…to stand against evil! Some may say that is a harsh word but hindsight being 20/20…it is actually mild!
I am an Independent that over the years have voted for both parties depending on the person. From the very beginning, every time I heard *61 speak; something inside me stirred. I could not understand the feeling since so many were flocking to him.
I started to pray and asked God what was it that I was feeling and He let me know it was…evil! One that wants to devour others souls and minds. What could I do? I searched and searched and was led here to become a PUMA!
To take a stand yesterday, today and tomorrow that evil will not rule in the USA and usher in a greater evil! When MO could only say, “I love this country” but referred to changing the world…I knew that our fight has just begun.
Will I turn back…never! Will I speak up…every day! Will they try to stop me…yes! Will I vote for *61…never! Will we win…absolutely! God has our backs!
We have all witnessed evil’s progress and we seen it become confused, angry and hateful when we took a stand. I will stand and shout from the hilltop…NOBAMA!
Yes, words and I repeat words will set them free from evil! Words give life or death. 18 million is only 8% of what can win the presidential election. The other 92% are waiting to hear the truth from PUMAS!
PUMAS - People United Means Action and we are about to engage into one of the most fantastic journeys of life that will unite and save Americans! Yes Hillary you were right, it was not just about you, it is about standing against evil no matter what the cost is!
Here’s how I discovered the PUMA PAC, the day the DNC hi-jacked four of Clinton’s delegates and allocated them to Obama in Michigan and bestow the gift of 55 delegates of undecided voters to Obama and then to give Florida and Michigan delegates 1/2 vote each….
That clearly was not the will of the people. A few days later Hillary suspended her campaign….. I was so over whelmed I went online and googled Hillary versus Obama and came across the PUMA PAC. I realized that I was not the only one that was thinkin What the F*$k, and here I am today say how in the hell did this happen….
#160 greenfun on 08.28.08 at 2:20 am
Hello my dear fellow pumas.
Reporting from Denver.
Southjerseypuma, BillieJo and I were all feeling a little frustrated after the bogus roll call vote today, so we did a little prowl of our own. We put a Hillary bumper sticker over an Obama sticker on a car parked next to us. SJP will post a link to the video-it was hilarious. We are all representing you here in Denver in spirit. We were stopped many times today ( dressed if full HRC regalia) by like-minded supporters and HRC delegates so happy to see us. Well, we took a little hit today with the rigged roll call, but don’t worry——we will have the last laugh in Nov. We must work hard to make sure BO is not our next POTUS, and Dean, Pelosi, Brazile and the other corrupt dems will certainly lose all their power , respect and their positions in the party. We can do this, and we will.
Rest up and get ready to show the Democratic party what conviction and Democracy really looks like. We have nothing else to lose now-and everything to gain.
The media and our party has tried to marginalize us, but we are PUMAS and fighting the good fight for true Democracy. I believe in myself and I believe in you. Let’s get ready to kick some serious @ss. Puma love from Denver.
#161 Taffy on 08.28.08 at 2:21 am
#163 mzebest on 08.28.08 at 2:26 am
#141 notfollowinthepiedpiper
Couldn’t have said it better if I tried… amen to that.
And I have one more thought to add. If anyone thinks that maybe it won’t be so bad if BO winds up as POTUS… if anyone has doubts and wonders if maybe we’re just making a mountain out of a mole hill… then answer me this? Why is his constituients living under the poorest conditions imaginable? Why is his brother living on $1 a month? Why is the African city he grew up in living in poverty and still waiting for him to fulfill the promises he made to them? Yet he lives in a mansion and redesigns a plane that says President on his seat… to take him all around the world while he plays G-d over the little minions under his feet. He spends money like it’s water to maintain the appearance of a Greek G-d for the cameras and throws an unbelievable amount of money at the press to maintain the narrative and shut them up.
How do you expect this man to balance a budget and bring fiscal responsibility to us? I’m not going to lull myself into believing for one minute that our fight is too much. Bring it… I’m ready. I’m a PUMA and when those dogs are barking at my heels — I’m ready to fight cause a PUMA doesn’t take kindly to dogs barking at it’s heels.
#164 diva2 on 08.28.08 at 2:27 am
