GENERAL INFORMATION ON STATE ELECTION LAWS
You do not have to know all about the several steps involved in running for office in a particular state to voice your objections to the conduct of the Democratic Party in your state. But to assist your understanding of the ’special’ status afforded the Democratic Party, as opposed to anyone else who wants to get onto the state ballot, do a search for the election laws in your state. Most of these are organized into sections that include laws applying to candidates, in general; and laws applying to major political parties. And there is usually another separate section for Presidential primaries. (This is different from Presidential electors, who are those people who actually vote in the electoral college.)

Welcome to all new Pumas. I have seen some questions about if there are moderators on the blog, questions about prowls, and questions about leaders. Here is some information for our new Pumas:
Our three top leaders are Murphy, Maryland Puma, and Mama Puma. Each has her own specific volunteer job. Murphy is the founder of Puma and executive director. Puma is a registered political PAC under IRS code section 527.
Murphy or Maryland have the authority and ability to remove posts, ban violators of PUMA posting policy, etc.
The U.S. is divided into regions and each region has a moderator. I am the West Region moderator. My job (volunteer position as is everyones) is to send out emails with authorized prowls. Sometimes the Lead Moderator sends out all the prowls directly. I check my email multiple times per day so that I can get the information out to everyone. Regional moderators do not have the ability or authority to delete posts.
I am reading on the blog today that Murphy has approved the prowl regarding the AGs and Sec. of States. I have not received anything from Murphy nor have I seen a written approval on the blog. Someone was wondering why more people are not participating. For those of us who have been members since the beginning we are not going to send out a letter as an authorized prowl unless we receive it through official channels. Naturally, we are all free to do a letter that we choose to do on our own.
Trish made a very good point yesterday when she commented that the blog seemed chaotic. The system that Murphy set up is for people to write their suggested prowls to the regional moderators. The regional moderators will then secure the approval of the prowl. This system does not in any way prohibit people from doing their own individual activities.
I hope this post clarifies and answers questions for people.

i have total confidence in gloria allred as being expert in knowing how to get media attention. don’t worry about trying to find her. she is a very tough woman and has often been accused, rightly or wrongly, of taking on cases or behaving in ways that draw media attention. so, i feel 100% sure she knows what she’s doing right now. plus, she’s famous, so she’s got a real edge there, as well.

The term resistance has political overtones, as people have used it, along with similar terms, to bring support to opposition groups.

As some media outlets have already been reporting, the well known and outspoken attorney, Gloria Allred, is being disallowed from speaking with delegates from the California delegation to the Democratic National Convention.
Why?
Is this not a free country? Since when were delegates at a political convention treated as if they were on a sequestered jury?
This deserves immediate and prominent media attention.

DENVER (this afternoon)- Democrats were on edge Tuesday as they waited to hear Hillary Rodham Clinton’s prime-time speech on party unity, with some of her supporters saying they don’t know what to do and others provoking confrontations.
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter backed Clinton in the primary, but said he still isn’t clear if he’s supposed to vote for her in Wednesday’s roll call of the states due to what he called a lack of clarity from either the Clinton or Obama camps about the roll-call process.
“Just tell me what you want me to do,” he said in an Associated Press interview, throwing up his hands and rolling his eyes.
He said he doesn’t think the process really matters, because in the end Obama will be the nominee no matter what and the party will rally behind him.
In a separate interview, former Democratic Party Chairman Don Fowler, a Clinton supporter, said he remained uneasy about the attitudes of some Clinton delegates.
“It seems to be a little more of a problem than I anticipated,” Fowler said. “There is some risk involved. … All you need is 200 people in that crowd to boo and stuff like that and it will be replayed 900 times. And that’s not what you want out of this.”

FYI… My mom just got done speaking to a family friend. She told mom that her 84 year ond brother-in-law will be voting for John McCain if Hillary doesn’t get nominated. He has never voted for a Republican in his life. This is the kind of thing that I’ve heard from several voters in WV.

True. However, it is much more efficient if it goes out through email to ALL members as a prowl rather then them having to wade through and try to find all the information on these blogs. I believe this is what jbjd tried to get done several days ago and now we’re at the 11th hour and we’re still waiting. Not very efficient on such an important initiative as this.

I am writing to you to protest the state of Mississippi allowing the Democratic Party access to our state election ballots.
I understand that state officials cannot intervene in the internal operations of any political party. I want to make clear that this is not what I am asking you to do. Rather, I am putting you on notice, that if the DNC refuses to hold a bona fide floor vote on the nomination, I will work diligently to revoke the special status that our state laws grants to candidates from the Democratic Party to get on the ballot.
We spend taxpayer money for elections that are fair and honest, and support the will of the people. The DNC has shown through it’s nomination of a candidate by fiat, that they are not abiding by our state’s principles. Barack Obama was given the nomination without reaching the proper number of delegates needed to secure it. The super delegates do not officially vote until the convention. Now we see that the super delegates will not be voting at all.
Furthermore, there are widespread reports and investigations of fraudulent voting irregularities in several states. In the Texas caucuses there was massive voter fraud and voter intimidation. In Oregon there were dead people voting. In Los Angeles, gang members were hired to walk neighborhoods and threaten people to vote for Obama. In some southern states there are instances being investigated of votes being sold for $20.00 or in some cases, for drugs. I protest the spending of our state tax dollars to allow a private club such as the DNC to pick their own candidate in violation of even their own rules, and run that candidate on our state ballots. I assure you, I intend to work to amend our state laws so that from now on DNC will not be allowed access to our state ballots without the requisite fees and petitions that the other political parties such as the Green Party or the Libertarian Party must pay and supply, unless they return to holding fair elections based upon votes of citizens.
I suggest that you notify the DNC of my intention, backed by the intention of a very large network of protestors under the aegis of PUMA PAC (PumaPAC.org). I have tried to warn the Democratic Party myself, but the party is not hearing me. Thank you for your assistance.

I am writing to you to protest the state of __________ allowing the Democratic party access to our state election ballots.
I understand that state officials cannot intervene in the internal operations of any political party. I want to make clear that this is not what I am asking you to do. Rather, I am putting you on notice, that if the DNC refuses to hold a bona fide floor vote on the nomination, I will work diligently to revoke the special status that our state laws grant to candidates from the Democratic Party to get on the ballot.
We spend taxpayer money for elections that are fair and honest, and support the will of the people. The DNC has shown through it’s nomination of a candidate by fiat, that they are not abiding by our state’s principles. Barack Obama was given the nomination without reaching the proper number of delegates needed to secure it. The super delegates do not officially vote until the convention. Now we see that the super delegates will not be voting at all.
Furthermore, there is widespread reports and investigations of fraudulent voting irregularities in several states. In the Texas caucuses there was massive voter fraud and voter intimidation. In Oregon there were dead people voting. In Los Angeles, gang members were hired to walk neighborhoods and threaten people to vote for Obama. In some southern states there are instances being investigated of votes being sold for $20. , or in some cases, for drugs. I protest the spending of our state tax dollars to allow a private club such as the DNC to pick their own candidate in violation of even their own rules, and run that candidate on our state ballots. I assure you, I intend to work to amend our state laws so that from now on DNC will not be allowed access to our state ballots without the requisite fees and petitions that the other political parties such as the Green Party or the Libertarian Party must pay and supply, unless they return to holding fair elections based upon votes of citizens.
I suggest that you notify the DNC of my intention, backed by the intention of a very large network of protestors under the aegis of PUMA PAC. I have tried to warn the Democratic Party myself, but the party is not hearing me.

Many pundits said the first convention night was disappointing… a waste.
Pelosi couldn’t get a lot of the audience’s attention… people were milling about and talking during her speech.

When Bush won by (1) vote after millions of people voted, I was totally disgusted. The judges were split 4-4 and Sandra Day O’Connor voted with the majority. Phillip Berg, the man that filed the court papers regarding *61 not being a natural born citizen says he has within the last hour received confirmation that *61 was indeed adopted by Lolo Soetoro and was an Indonesian citizen. He also has confirmation, *61 used the Indonesian passport to go to Pakistan in 1981.
There is no record he revoked that citizenship and swore oath to this country.
Says he wants us to get ahold of any delgates to make *61 face this and step down ASAP before he is nominated.

You can’t make this up. Michelle Obama spoke to the Convention last night, and there was an immediate change in the polls. The Obama numbers went down, and the approval numbers for John McCain went up.

Today’s Gallup Tracking number for McCain over Obama is now +2. One to two days ago, it was tied even.

He also has confirmation, *61 used the Indonesian passport to go to Pakistan in 1981.
There is no record he revoked that citizenship and swore oath to this country.
Says he wants us to get ahold of any delgates to make *61 face this and step down ASAP before he is nominated.

I traveled from New Hampshire to Philadelphia. I have made large contributions to her campaign. I stood in the freezing streets of NH 5 hours straight without breaks holding signs and talking to people. I have gas receipts and hotel accommodations receipts. I met Hillary 2 times at 4 rallies and shook her hand and thank her for all she was doing for us. I asked her a question live with CNN, FOX and all the media at a rally in NH. I was intervened by Boston news and I am on Newsweek’s website. I am interviewed on one of Hillary’s videos on her website. I visited and canvassed over 90 homes in my town. I did a Google search and I am on many pictures at several rallies. I saw and met Bill Clinton at 4 of his rallies. I supported Hillary long before anyone cared! I knew in the beginning, at the NH primaries she needed help…..I was there.
I don’t want any medals…….just want you know I am NOT a BHO supporter.
I only wished I could have helped in Denver.

Phillip Berg, the man that filed the court papers regarding *61 not being a natural born citizen says he has within the last hour received confirmation that *61 was indeed adopted by Lolo Soetoro and was an Indonesian citizen. He also has confirmation, *61 used the Indonesian passport to go to Pakistan in 1981.
There is no record he revoked that citizenship and swore oath to this country.
Says he wants us to get ahold of any delgates to make *61 face this and step down ASAP before he is nominated.

In some southern states there are instances being investigated of votes being sold for $20. , or in some cases, for drugs. I protest the spending of our state tax dollars to allow a private club such as the DNC to pick their own candidate in violation of even their own rules, and run that candidate on our state ballots. I assure you, I intend to work to amend our state laws so that from now on DNC will not be allowed access to our state ballots without the requisite fees and petitions that the other political parties such as the Green Party or the Libertarian Party must pay and supply, unless they return to holding fair elections based upon votes of citizens.
I suggest that you notify the DNC of my intention, backed by the intention of a very large network of protestors under the aegis of PUMA PAC. I have tried to warn the Democratic Party myself, but the party is not hearing me.

I read the comments from your members on this blog last night while Michelle Obama was making her speech.
EVERYTHING you all have accused the other of saying about Hillary Clinton, you all said about MO. And WORSE, so very, very much worse. You felt prefectly justified to pick on her hair, her face, her eyebrows(!), her dress, her voice. EVERYTHING you hated, you all did last night. What a shame!!
And WHY??? God has given you a pass on sin this election cycle? Anything goes in this little world you have all built?

He just had surgery and will not be able to attend college for quite sometime due to recovery. Once Blue Cross kicks him off our insurance, we are screwed and he is DEAD. Under John McCains plan, he wont even be elligible. Netiher will many, many of your friends and family. Preexisting conditions will not be able to be covered.
So before you think about voting for John McCain, think about the health of each and everyone of YOUR family members and friends. If they are all in GREAT health, then feel Blessed. But if not, think twice. McCain will open Health Insurance to the “Free Market”. You that great Free Market that they said would make credit cheap if they deregulated it?? Now you credit card company can charge us for saps 35.99% interest because of all the GREAT competition in the FREE Market. (FYI Under Bill Clinton, the highest CC interest rate was 24.99%)

Phillip Berg, the man that filed the court papers regarding *61 not being a natural born citizen says he has within the last hour received confirmation that *61 was indeed adopted by Lolo Soetoro and was an Indonesian citizen. From what I understand, Denver has known for two years that they were hosting the Democratic convention during this week. That means that the DNC know two years ago that the nominee acceptance speech would be on the day of the famous MLK speech.
So, logically, to me, that tells me that two years ago the DNC had already set it up for BO to win. Why else would they have picked that specific date for the acceptance speech?

Please do not get too excited about Phil Berg. He is a 911 truther who sued to have Supreme Court justices removed due to conflict of interest in the 2000 election.
He is relying on evidence on the internet for this case and in some cases he is way off base. He cites evidence that the Hawaiian COLB is Mya Soetoro’s (BHO’s sis). This comes from what Techdude posted on Atlasshugs and Texasdarlin. Techdude did a disappearing act and his findings are yet to be proved.
More likely is the Indonesian connection that Berg cites as there is some paperwork to prove that on the internet. But Federal Judges are going to want to see more than that in most cases. Can he get a friendly judge who will grant him discovery? I do not know, I expect that he shopped jurisdictions.
I wish Berg well…Hell I am pulling for him big time. But still, it is a long shot.

Look, if you don’t want to hear Hillary declare her support, undivided, fully substantail to Barack Obama, than do NOT LISTEN to her speech!

Now, we can take heart in Bill, her husband, who having acchieved all he hoped to, has the lee-way to speak a bit out…Bill is a PUMA! There’s no doubt about that. But he is not up for president…he’s done his two terms. So he, while trying hard to hedge what he says to not implicate himself or his wife directly, and yet address their concerns through representing, as they always have, our interests, will nominally support Barack, he, clearly, does not do so directly.
Hillary has 35 years of experience representing the will and the works of Women and Children and…regualr American people. She knows what is required of a president, how to get the work acchieved and that BO is not an acceptable candidate. However, being a democfrat, as we all are, she knows that John Mccain is most CERTAINLY NOT going to represent our interests. Yet, I think, given her druthers, she will vote for HIM, rather than BO. Why? Because BO is a person who has shown NO strength of character, no ability to acchieve ANYTHING, in any way, other than by staying silent and being the affirmative action candidate and letting others pave his way.
Regardless: we want HRC in 2012? Right. Well, in order to even appropriate such a concern the fact is she has GOT to do all in her power, speaking wise to promote BO. Again, I say, if you are not willing to hear this, and I don’t blame you, do not listen. But if you do, don’t cast dispersions upon HRC! She is and always will be my heroin. Put yourself in her shoes, if you have enough intelligence you’ll realize that you have to work with the system…even if you would ABORT the system, you have to first work within it.
I’m hearing that the roll-call will be brought forward, because basically, the delegates won’t stand for less (bless their hearts!) but they believe it will be stopped short. Well,I happen to think there are enough PUMA’s in the delegate situation, that no matter how uncomfortable they’ve been made to feel for their intractable postions, they won’t back down! Our letter, our voices, helped fuel that. Do NOT let those things flag NOW! DO let the delegates and SD’s know who you are, what your story is…why you unflaggingly support HRC and NOT BO…and share it with these people.
I don’t know what’s going to happen. No one does. The BO camp is trying is DAMNDEST to subvert, once again, a democratic process. While I am all for the concept of a secret ballot, shit, I think it would give HRC 10 times the amount of BO, who’s gonna count a report them? We already have proof of voter fraud in every single caucus state. Why should I trust the same organization to represent a true and fair vote? I don’t.

A senior conventional official says that supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton will formally place her name into nomination Wednesday night with regular nominating and seconding speeches. The roll call of states begins around 6:00 pm ET. As part of that process, Clinton delegates have been alloted time to speak. Sen. Barack Obama, of course, gets a nominating speech too. But he gets three seconding speeches. No word yet as to the identity of the speakers.

You are so lucky to be in Denver. Even though this Convention is all but a lavish circus of faux unity and Barack-worship, the atmosphere seems so fun and exciting.
And in regards to what’s being said in the media…Everyone keeps talking about the progress of leadership of the Democrats. First the Kennedys, then the Clintons, and now the Obamas. Umm…Obama hasn’t won the presidency yet. The Obamas will only become the leaders of the Party if they enter the Oval Office — were the Mondales, Dukakises, and Kerrys the leaders of the Party? But the Obamas will not become the leaders of the Party. It is still the Age of Clinton. And I predict this Age of Clinton will continue for years into the future. Well beyond the end of Hillary’s second term as President in 2020…maybe Chelsea will continue her parents’ mantle.

What is this?
The recurring criticism of the modern major party political conventions is that they have become four-day infomercials, overly scripted, overly sanitized and existing almost solely to ratify a decision made months before. And up to a point that’s certainly true this week in Denver.
Yet even in this age of artificial electronic intimacy, the conventions serve their original – arguably even more valuable – purpose of bringing together in person and face-to-face that vast tribe of members of Congress, governors, mayors, state legislators, party officials, ward heelers, precinct workers, consultants and strategists that make up the body politic. It is democracy distilled.

My computer has been down for a couple days, but back up and running. If interested—go to the picture on this thread again. Look at the middle panel behind Murphy. When I look at it, I immediately see a head with eyes wrapped in a black head garment. It may just be the contrast of the picture. But take a look at the left and right side panels. I see images, not art. To be honest, it looks like a sad disco club that just got a note of foreclosure. i don’t if anyone has brought up this VERY IMPORTANT OBSERVATION… but did ya happen to catch some of the Talking Heads on MSNBC (the woman going head to head with Buchanan and Olbermann) saying how blah blah blah the McCain campaign is USING Hillary by using her image and voice in those ads and if Hillary really wants to speak up about Women’s Rights she will condemn McCain tonite for those ads!!!!
then, cut to camera 2, Chris Matthew says its solid logic to blame Hillary for an Obama defeat if Hillary doesn’t comes across as sincere in her support for Barack Obama. And then back to camera 1 with Olbermann saying AGAIN that Hillary better look like she REALLY supports Obama or her career is over.
