GENERAL INFORMATION ON STATE ELECTION LAWS
You do not have to know all about the several steps involved in running for office in a particular state to voice your objections to the conduct of the Democratic Party in your state. But to assist your understanding of the ’special’ status afforded the Democratic Party, as opposed to anyone else who wants to get onto the state ballot, do a search for the election laws in your state. Most of these are organized into sections that include laws applying to candidates, in general; and laws applying to major political parties. And there is usually another separate section for Presidential primaries. (This is different from Presidential electors, who are those people who actually vote in the electoral college.)

Welcome to all new Pumas. I have seen some questions about if there are moderators on the blog, questions about prowls, and questions about leaders. Here is some information for our new Pumas:
Our three top leaders are Murphy, Maryland Puma, and Mama Puma. Each has her own specific volunteer job. Murphy is the founder of Puma and executive director. Puma is a registered political PAC under IRS code section 527.
Murphy or Maryland have the authority and ability to remove posts, ban violators of PUMA posting policy, etc.
The U.S. is divided into regions and each region has a moderator. I am the West Region moderator. My job (volunteer position as is everyones) is to send out emails with authorized prowls. Sometimes the Lead Moderator sends out all the prowls directly. I check my email multiple times per day so that I can get the information out to everyone. Regional moderators do not have the ability or authority to delete posts.
I am reading on the blog today that Murphy has approved the prowl regarding the AGs and Sec. of States. I have not received anything from Murphy nor have I seen a written approval on the blog. Someone was wondering why more people are not participating. For those of us who have been members since the beginning we are not going to send out a letter as an authorized prowl unless we receive it through official channels. Naturally, we are all free to do a letter that we choose to do on our own.
Trish made a very good point yesterday when she commented that the blog seemed chaotic. The system that Murphy set up is for people to write their suggested prowls to the regional moderators. The regional moderators will then secure the approval of the prowl. This system does not in any way prohibit people from doing their own individual activities.
I hope this post clarifies and answers questions for people.

i have total confidence in gloria allred as being expert in knowing how to get media attention. don’t worry about trying to find her. she is a very tough woman and has often been accused, rightly or wrongly, of taking on cases or behaving in ways that draw media attention. so, i feel 100% sure she knows what she’s doing right now. plus, she’s famous, so she’s got a real edge there, as well.

As some media outlets have already been reporting, the well known and outspoken attorney, Gloria Allred, is being disallowed from speaking with delegates from the California delegation to the Democratic National Convention.
Why?
Is this not a free country? Since when were delegates at a political convention treated as if they were on a sequestered jury?
This deserves immediate and prominent media attention.

DENVER (this afternoon)- Democrats were on edge Tuesday as they waited to hear Hillary Rodham Clinton’s prime-time speech on party unity, with some of her supporters saying they don’t know what to do and others provoking confrontations.
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter backed Clinton in the primary, but said he still isn’t clear if he’s supposed to vote for her in Wednesday’s roll call of the states due to what he called a lack of clarity from either the Clinton or Obama camps about the roll-call process.
“Just tell me what you want me to do,” he said in an Associated Press interview, throwing up his hands and rolling his eyes.
He said he doesn’t think the process really matters, because in the end Obama will be the nominee no matter what and the party will rally behind him.
In a separate interview, former Democratic Party Chairman Don Fowler, a Clinton supporter, said he remained uneasy about the attitudes of some Clinton delegates.
“It seems to be a little more of a problem than I anticipated,” Fowler said. “There is some risk involved. … All you need is 200 people in that crowd to boo and stuff like that and it will be replayed 900 times. And that’s not what you want out of this.”

FYI… My mom just got done speaking to a family friend. She told mom that her 84 year ond brother-in-law will be voting for John McCain if Hillary doesn’t get nominated. He has never voted for a Republican in his life. This is the kind of thing that I’ve heard from several voters in WV.

True. However, it is much more efficient if it goes out through email to ALL members as a prowl rather then them having to wade through and try to find all the information on these blogs. I believe this is what jbjd tried to get done several days ago and now we’re at the 11th hour and we’re still waiting. Not very efficient on such an important initiative as this.

I am writing to you to protest the state of Mississippi allowing the Democratic Party access to our state election ballots.
I understand that state officials cannot intervene in the internal operations of any political party. I want to make clear that this is not what I am asking you to do. Rather, I am putting you on notice, that if the DNC refuses to hold a bona fide floor vote on the nomination, I will work diligently to revoke the special status that our state laws grants to candidates from the Democratic Party to get on the ballot.
We spend taxpayer money for elections that are fair and honest, and support the will of the people. The DNC has shown through it’s nomination of a candidate by fiat, that they are not abiding by our state’s principles. Barack Obama was given the nomination without reaching the proper number of delegates needed to secure it. The super delegates do not officially vote until the convention. Now we see that the super delegates will not be voting at all.
Furthermore, there are widespread reports and investigations of fraudulent voting irregularities in several states. In the Texas caucuses there was massive voter fraud and voter intimidation. In Oregon there were dead people voting. In Los Angeles, gang members were hired to walk neighborhoods and threaten people to vote for Obama. In some southern states there are instances being investigated of votes being sold for $20.00 or in some cases, for drugs. I protest the spending of our state tax dollars to allow a private club such as the DNC to pick their own candidate in violation of even their own rules, and run that candidate on our state ballots. I assure you, I intend to work to amend our state laws so that from now on DNC will not be allowed access to our state ballots without the requisite fees and petitions that the other political parties such as the Green Party or the Libertarian Party must pay and supply, unless they return to holding fair elections based upon votes of citizens.
I suggest that you notify the DNC of my intention, backed by the intention of a very large network of protestors under the aegis of PUMA PAC (PumaPAC.org). I have tried to warn the Democratic Party myself, but the party is not hearing me. Thank you for your assistance.

Subject: Objections to Special Status Granted to the Democratic Party on RI State Ballots
I am writing to you to protest the state of __________ allowing the Democratic party access to our state election ballots.
I understand that state officials cannot intervene in the internal operations of any political party. I want to make clear that this is not what I am asking you to do. Rather, I am putting you on notice, that if the DNC refuses to hold a bona fide floor vote on the nomination, I will work diligently to revoke the special status that our state laws grant to candidates from the Democratic Party to get on the ballot.
We spend taxpayer money for elections that are fair and honest, and support the will of the people. The DNC has shown through it’s nomination of a candidate by fiat, that they are not abiding by our state’s principles. Barack Obama was given the nomination without reaching the proper number of delegates needed to secure it. The super delegates do not officially vote until the convention. Now we see that the super delegates will not be voting at all.
Furthermore, there is widespread reports and investigations of fraudulent voting irregularities in several states. In the Texas caucuses there was massive voter fraud and voter intimidation. In Oregon there were dead people voting. In Los Angeles, gang members were hired to walk neighborhoods and threaten people to vote for Obama. In some southern states there are instances being investigated of votes being sold for $20. , or in some cases, for drugs. I protest the spending of our state tax dollars to allow a private club such as the DNC to pick their own candidate in violation of even their own rules, and run that candidate on our state ballots. I assure you, I intend to work to amend our state laws so that from now on DNC will not be allowed access to our state ballots without the requisite fees and petitions that the other political parties such as the Green Party or the Libertarian Party must pay and supply, unless they return to holding fair elections based upon votes of citizens.
I suggest that you notify the DNC of my intention, backed by the intention of a very large network of protestors under the aegis of PUMA PAC. I have tried to warn the Democratic Party myself, but the party is not hearing me.

Thanks for pointing me out to Bobram. I had posted twice that I sent the letter, but people are busy and those posts are sometimes hard to get through. I knew it had been sent and just dropped it. But I think it is encouraging to others to see that the plan is acted on, so posting what you do is important. I’m hoping the roll call makes it down to Texas

Anna, The report that I heard on FOX was that Gloria Allred asked to speak with her CA delegation and she was denied. She tried several times in several ways but was denied. I believe she wanted to discuss the roll call or wanted to talk with Hillary delegates. After she was denied she put on the gag.
OMG! On Race for the White House the pundits are talking about Joe Biden getting emotional and they are going on and on about how wonderful that was and what a great guy he is and what a real moment. If that had been Hillary they would have been bashing her.
N.O.W. president is on right now explaining why Hillary delegates are voting for Hillary at the convention.
