After the screening we did a Q & A and Pumas are ready for ACTION. We are planning some late-developing ACTIONS here in Denver to protest the last ditch efforts of the DONC to silence the Hillary Delegation and erase her presence in the Democratic Party.
The 300 Delegate contingent are on the verge of devastation. After all their work, all their dedication the Big Shots are STILL planning a work-around. Now they’re talking about a closed door written vote on Wednesday morning with no established Chain of Possession. No roll call vote is the threat.
There is no avenue to submit the petition. The delegates were hoping to present the petition tomorrow to be read on the floor. Now it looks like they won’t get the chance to even do that.
If any Puma out there knows where Howard Dean is staying in Denver, please let me know?

I just saw Rowland Martin on CNN. They are starting to report on the ‘discord’ within the party. He sounded almost defeated. He said that we have ‘lost sight of the big picture’ and are reducing the convention to bickering in spite of all the efforts to create unity.” As Soledad Obrien continued the discussion he even said that Democrats (I assume he means us) are stupid. That we would nit pick and continue the primary fight to the detriment of us all.
Bill Snider was not nearly as pro-Obama. He says the protesters ‘have connected’ in Denver! He also commented on Bill Clinton not being willing to give the speech he was ‘assigned’ to give!

1. We got the vote 88 years ago; Aug. 26, 1920, but we still don’t have full suffrage when our votes don’t get counted.

I’m not sure how harassing hotel staff across the Denver area is going to help things. They are contractually obligated to not disclose private guest information. They are not (as far as we know or have any right to know) affiliated with the DNC. We should be calling the DNC offices and headquarters to demand audience from Dean, not a front desk that is already probably busy and weary from the convention.
I agree that you have to “ruffle some feathers” to get things done, but shouldn’t we ruffle the feathers of those who have allied themselves with the enemy, and not completely unrelated hotel staff? Staff that would lose their jobs if they gave us the information we demand?
Please don’t delete this, since I think we could really be making PUMA look bad with this, and maybe we should reconsider.

Democratic candidate for the Office of the President of the United States, is a bona fide Democrat whose
record of public service, accomplishment, public writings and/or public statements affirmatively
demonstrates that he or she is faithful to the interests, welfare and success of the Democratic Party of the
United States, and will participate in the Convention in good faith.
(Well in my opinion Obama doesn’t fit any of these qualification criteria)
VIII. PROCEDURAL RULES OF THE 2008 DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION
6. Nomination of the Democratic Candidate for President: The Permanent Chair shall
receive nominations from the floor for the Democratic candidate for the Office of
President of the United States in the following manner:
a. Requests to nominate a presidential candidate shall be in writing and shall have
affixed thereto the written approval of the proposed nominee and the name of the
individuals who shall be recognized to make the nominating and seconding
speeches on behalf of a presidential candidate and shall be delivered to the
Convention Secretary at a location as specified by the Secretary no later than
6:00 p.m. of the day preceding the day designated for the commencement of
presidential nominations.
b. Each such request must be accompanied by a petition indicating support for the
proposed nominee signed by delegates representing not less than 300 or more
than 600 delegate votes, not more than 50 of which may come from one (1)
delegation. A delegate may not sign more than one (1) nominating petition for
president and for vice president.
c. The order for nominating presidential candidates shall be determined by the
National Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee, the Permanent
Chair of the Convention and each presidential candidate, or his or her authorized
representative, who qualifies to be nominated pursuant to this section.
d. Each presidential candidate shall be allowed a total of twenty (20) minutes for
the presentation of his or her name in nomination by nominating and seconding
speeches, the time to run without interruption from the recognition of the
nominator.
e. Delegates and alternates shall maintain order during and following nominations
for the Office of President and demonstrations shall not be permitted.
7. Roll Call for Presidential Candidate:
a. After nominations for presidential candidates have closed, the Convention shall
proceed to a roll call vote by states on the selection of the presidential candidate.
The roll call voting shall follow the alphabetical order of the states with the
District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and the territories treated as states for the
purpose of the alphabetical roll call.
b. A majority vote of the Convention’s delegates shall be required to nominate the
presidential candidate.
c. Delegates may vote for the candidate of their choice whether or not the name of
such candidate was placed in nomination. Any vote cast other than a vote for a
presidential candidate meeting the requirements of Article VI of this Call and
Rule 12.K. of the 2008 Delegate Selection Rules shall be considered a vote for
“Present.”
d. Balloting will continue until a nominee is selected. The nominee shall become
the candidate of the Democratic Party of the United States for the Office of
President upon the conclusion of his or her acceptance speech.
8. Acceptance Speech by Presidential Candidate: Immediately after the selection of the
Democratic nominee for President, the Permanent Chair shall invite the nominee to
deliver an acceptance speech to the Convention.
F. Voting:
1. Secret Ballot: No secret ballots shall be permitted at any stage of the Convention or its
committee proceedings.
2. Proxy Voting: Neither delegate nor alternate delegate votes may be cast by proxy.
3. Roll Call Votes:
a. Voting shall be by voice vote or, when prescribed by these rules, by roll call vote.
The roll call voting shall follow the order as specified in Article VIII.C.7.a. A roll
call vote shall also be had if the Chair is in doubt or upon demand of any delegate
supported by twenty percent (20%) of the Convention’s delegates as evidenced
by one of the following methods:
(1) A petition submitted to the Chair indicating support of the
demand by delegations which comprise not less than twenty
percent (20%) of the Convention’s delegates. In the case of the
petition in support of a demand for a roll call vote, a delegation
shall be taken to support the demand if a majority of its delegates
have signed a petition to do so.
(2) By the rising in support of the demand by not less than twenty
percent (20%) of the delegates present.
b. When a roll call vote is ordered, the roll call shall be called by states, and the
Chair of each delegation or his or her designee shall report the vote of his or her
delegation and shall send to the Convention Secretary a tally showing the vote of
each member of his or her delegation indicating whether such vote was cast in
person or by an alternate. Such roll call votes may be conducted by having the
Chair for each delegation report by telephone, or electronic voting mechanism,
the vote of his or her delegation to the rostrum, provided that the telephone poll
shall not be used in the balloting for the Presidential and Vice Presidential
nominees. Business shall be permitted to proceed during the telephone roll call
the Delegation Chair shall record and tally votes of the delegation on official roll
call tally sheets provided by the Convention Secretary. All official roll call tally
sheets shall be turned in to the Convention Secretary at a specified location not
more than thirty (30) minutes after the close of each voting period.
c. All delegates to the National Convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall
in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.
d. In the case where a pledged delegate is not on the floor of the Convention Hall at
the time a vote is taken, an alternate may be designated according to the rules to
cast the vote. In no case may an alternate cast a vote for a delegate allocated
under I.F., I.G., I.H. or I.I. of this Call.
e. On a roll call vote by states, the vote cast on behalf of a delegation may be
challenged by communication to the Convention Secretary by telephone or other
means by any voting member of that state’s delegation within ten (10) minutes
after the Convention Secretary’s announcement of the state’s vote. The votes of
that delegation shall then be recorded as polled without regard to any state law,
party rule, resolution or instruction binding the delegation or any member thereof
to vote for or against any candidate or proposition. The Convention Chair may
send a parliamentarian to the delegation to conduct the poll. At the discretion of
the Convention Chair, the roll call may continue instead of waiting for the result
of the polling.
f. On a roll call vote conducted by telephone or other electronic voting mechanism,
the vote of a delegation as shown on the video projection system may be
challenged by communication to the Convention Secretary by telephone or other
means by any voting member of the delegation within ten (10) minutes after the
delegation’s vote is shown on the screen.
g. A demand to poll a delegation may be withdrawn at any time before the actual
polling has begun.
G. Filling a Vacancy on the National Ticket: In the event of death, resignation or disability of a
nominee of the Party for President or Vice President after the adjournment of the National
Convention, the National Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee shall confer with
the Democratic leadership of the United States Congress and the Democratic Governors
Association and shall report to the Democratic National Committee, which is authorized to fill the
vacancy or vacancies.
H. Interpretation of the Rules: In interpreting the rules, the Chair may have recourse to the ruling of
Chairs of previous Democratic Conventions, to the precedents of the United States House of
Representatives and to general parliamentary law.
U. Journal of Proceedings:
1. A record of all actions taken each day by the Convention shall be printed and made
available to all delegates and alternates the following day by the Convention Secretary.
2. The Secretary of the Democratic National Committee will provide a journal of the full
proceedings of the Convention, which shall be printed within the year following the
Convention.

Hotels can’t divulge their guest lists. The only way to find him is to walk the halls and ask people you see in the hotels (not employees- they have to keep that info secret). He will most likely be staying in an upper floor suite, and he will definitely have his own security people. So that is something to look for as a clue.

The order for nominating presidential candidates shall be determined by the National Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee, the Permanent Chair of the Convention and each presidential candidate, or his or her authorized representative, who qualifies to be nominated pursuant to this section.
d. Each presidential candidate shall be allowed a total of twenty (20) minutes for the presentation of his or her name in nomination by nominating and seconding speeches, the time to run without interruption from the recognition of the nominator.
e. Delegates and alternates shall maintain order during and following nominations for the Office of President and demonstrations shall not be permitted.
7. Roll Call for Presidential Candidate:
a. After nominations for presidential candidates have closed, the Convention shall proceed to a roll call vote by states on the selection of the presidential candidate.
The roll call voting shall follow the alphabetical order of the states with the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and the territories treated as states for the purpose of the alphabetical roll call.
b. A majority vote of the Convention’s delegates shall be required to nominate the presidential candidate.
c. Delegates may vote for the candidate of their choice whether or not the name of such candidate was placed in nomination. Any vote cast other than a vote for a presidential candidate meeting the requirements of Article VI of this Call and Rule 12.K. of the 2008 Delegate Selection Rules shall be considered a vote for “Present.”
d. Balloting will continue until a nominee is selected. The nominee shall become the candidate of the Democratic Party of the United States for the Office of President upon the conclusion of his or her acceptance speech.

Pumas, I just heard this am on a show, It was some sort of a forum, where they stated that the conventions, both of them, are paid out of the US Treasury. That means that the Dem convention is bought and paid for by we the taxpayers, not the Party. The only thing the Parties pay for are all the percs and fanfare stuff, which is paid by private entities.
So that means we the people actually OWN this convention and legally I would think they have to do it OUR way. Am I right?

I think, in triaging priorities, trying to track down Dean and leave a message is less important than contacting the media (and this includes the delegates) to get press conferences going. Dean is the leader of all of this corruption. He’ll never back down from what he’s up to. But, if the public were made aware (via the media) that this convention has started to look like the kind of elections that occur in corrupt nations around the world whereby outside international observers are needed to ensure all remains legal and fair, folks might get a bit alarmed.
The delegates need to be raising their voices and doing all they can to raise the public’s awareness. Meanwhile, all of us back home can bombard the media with letters informing them of these never-ending manipulations by the DNC.

If the delegates are to “turn in” their ballots on Wednesday.
It has been non-stop since I arrived in Denver Saturday afternoon after a 12 hour travel journey and two time zones.
We arrive at HQ at 10:00 am MDT (12:00 EST) and go full force until 3:00 am MDT (5:00 EST). We are exhausted but excited and proud. There are still three days to go and many battles to fight to influence the war in the Democratic Party.
I want to remind everyone that we are not professional media spokespeople, reporters, event organizers, etc. This is our first foray into the true public forum. Some things are working….some things have to be revisited.
The key thing to remember at the end of the day is that had it not been for each of YOU, our PUMA PAC members, that this day would have never come. We would still be sitting in our homes and communities – silenced and manipulated by DNC power brokers. Because of YOU we have a real presence in Denver. Because of YOU we have media coverage and because of you.
WE HAVE BEEN AND CONTINUE TO BE HEARD!

Shortly thereafter, however, it became unclear as to whether there would be a roll call vote. Without a roll call vote, having a candidate’s name placed in nomination becomes moot.
Meanwhile, with press reports that Senator Clinton might release her delegates and urge them to vote for Senator Obama, hundreds of pledged delegates acquired the legally required number of signatures to ensure that her name would be placed in nomination.
The most recent development is that the DNC is considering having a closed door written vote with no established Chain of Possession.
Is this the way a democracy functions? The proceedings are beginning to look a lot like elections that occur in countries in the world where corruption runs rampant, requiring outside international observers to make sure voter’s voices are heard.
Senator Clinton won the popular vote. She won more primaries than any candidate in history. And yet, the Democratic Party appears to be doing everything in their power, at every twist and turn, to ensure that the 18 million of us who voted for Senator Clinton have no representation on the convention floor.
This is a travesty and is an affront to the very principals of a democratic society. I urge you to investigate and bring this story to light.

Remember on you Income Tax form when you ck that $1.00 (I think it is $1.00) is to go towards the political elections (or whatever, I do not have my tax forms handy)? That money, I have heard, is also used for the conventions. So you may have donated to them and not be aware of it.
I can’t even look at MO let alone listen to anything she has to say. She is so mean spirited and all her words will be noise. We know she doesn’t like Hillary. There is nothing she can say or do otherwise to make me think differently. Hey Gang, I am trying to keep my spirits up. I went to bed last night in my PUMA t-shirt so I could ’sleep with the Pumas”…ha!. But here, on the blog, jbjd seems to have established himself (in my mind) as the most authoritative as to democratic and electoral processes. Just as you, Anna, have established not only your knowledge, but also your eloquence in letter composition.
So I’m suggesting that, even though we are all free individuals, that we put our differences aside and unite even temporarily under an informal chain. I just called the FL AG who is Republican and they would not get involved, told me to call the DNC. I called the SOS of Florida and they referred me to the DNC. At this point, I don’t know what else we can do other than to call a news conference with the harassed delegates and spread the word of the widespread corruption. I called Charlie Rangel’s office in NY and told the lady to let Rangel know and now I’m calling my Senator.

Meanwhile, hundreds of pledged delegates acquired the legally required number of signatures to ensure that the name of Senator Obama’s opponent would be placed in nomination.
The most recent development is that the DNC is considering having a closed door written vote with no established Chain of Possession.
This is not the way a democracy functions The proceedings are beginning to look a lot like elections that occur in countries in the world where corruption runs rampant, requiring outside international observers to make sure voter’s voices are heard. And the eyes of the world are watching.
Senator Obama’s opponent actually won the popular vote. She won more primaries than any candidate in history. And yet, the Democratic Party appears to be doing everything in their power, at every twist and turn, to ensure that the 18 million voters who voted for Senator Clinton have no representation on the convention floor.
This is a travesty and is an affront to the very principals of a democratic society. Laws have been broken and fraud has occurred I urge you to investigate and bring this story to light.

Unbelievable.
Given the nature of the situation, I wouldn’t be surprised if hotels are instructed not to inform callers if Howard Dean is a guest at the hotel. Likely anyone who’s anyone who needs to get a hold of him, already knows how to reach him and anyone who’s calling could have questionable intentions. For security reasons, it may be next to impossible for us to really be able to accurately pin down where he’s staying.

I just want to stress, once again, that calling the hotel(s) will only succeed in winning the ill will of everyone that works there and everyone they talk to. Howard Dean, and every other prominent figure, does not use hotel phones for correspondence when traveling. He doesn’t check his voice messages there. People who need to contact him use his cell phone or leave messages at DNC headquarters. He doesn’t send everyone a text message or whatever whenever he travels to a new hotel saying “Call me at the Loews!” Consequently, his hotel phone is little more than a paperweight to him.
I suppose the fax approach is moderately better, but I really think that this “phone call barrage” is counter-productive and doing PUMA a disservice.

LivingGrace – This is no scientific sampling, but in the community where I live, it seems pretty right on. After Obama was anointed this spring, I drove around and knocked on the doors of folks who had Clinton yard signs out. I figured they were die hard supporters. This grassroots movement was just getting started and I had typed up some web sites on fliers I made to give out to let Clinton supporters know about what was going on. A few had mild interest, but most expressed fear that she would just serve as a “spoiler”, not unlike Nadar was. I followed up with some who seemed on the fence, but ultimately, I’d have to say, the majority were about supporting the Democratic ticket than they were about anything else. It got disheartening.
Bottom line. Obama’s got enormous support and, at this point, he has a significant edge in the electoral college map. If he’s the nominee, we’ll have precious few weeks to turn things around.

I salute you in your efforts in filing a suit to get an injunction preventing Senator Obama from continuing his candidacy, and a court order enjoining the DNC from nominating him next week, all on grounds that Sen. Obama is constitutionally ineligible to run for and hold the office of President of the United States.
I agree with you, this action needed to be taken in your words, “to avoid the obvious problems that will occur when the Republican Party raises these issues after Obama is nominated.” Which we know will happen as soon as Senator Obama is officially elected the democratic nominee. It would behoove the courts to allow this travesty to take place when our democratic party is already in shambles and this country can not afford yet another embrassment such as allowing a non legal/dual citizen run for the office of president. Again if you will allow me to use your own words in expressing my feelings, you said it aptly and eloquently and I quote:
“Voters donated money, goods and services to elect a nominee and were defrauded by Sen. Obama’s lies and obfuscations,” Berg stated. “If the DNC officers … had performed one ounce of due diligence we would not find ourselves in this emergency predicament, one week away from making a person the nominee who has lost their citizenship as a child and failed to even perform the basic steps of regaining citizenship as prescribed by constitutional laws.”

He is saying the vote is always taken ahead of time by the state chair and the floor vote is always symbolic. The roll call always proceeds alph order, but a state can pass when they are called. Ao, it sounds like we should have been targeting our prowls to the chairs of each state delegation. They control the votes.
Hillary delegate is speaking on radio now, said he thinks the rumor of her releasing her delegates is just that and HE will vote for Hillary. He said she has NOTHING to say about how her delegates vote. YEA!!!!!
He said he is assured the votes will be counted fairly and securely. He is standing right outside of the radio station. He said we need to see publicly who casts the vote for who. He wants to make sure his Hillary vote is FOR Hillary. We may not see any verification until after the convention. He said he has not received any intimidation by the DNC.
I just listened on the the radio blog that if a chairman of delegation for a state sees there are more votes in his state for Hillary but he is an BO supporter, then he can choose to pass on the roll call vote?

#63Zach: I beg to differ with you. Every Mardi Gras millions come in town and go to hotels, bed and breakfast, et al.We locals who have friends coming in sometime even at the last minute, call Hotels all the time and have for years. We often don’t even know which ones they may be in.
What do we do? Call and say: W ill you please connect me to so and so’s room, (they don’t need to give you a phone number, Zach…they just ring the room, if the person is registered. In addition, many hotels have voice message on registered guests…If the person is registered there and the phone doesn’t answer, sometimes it will fall back to a voice message, sometimes a person will ask if you want to leave a message!
Often as well, locals at the last minute decide to rent a hotel room with friends…same deal…Call the hotel ask to be connected to so and so’s room.
Even if you call a hospital and ask to be connected to someone’s room they will do that or tell you so andso is there in the hospital.
So…that’s the way it goes. If I am a telephone operator in a hote, I am supposed to answer andtransfer calls…
Can you fathom how many thousands of calls of the kind I have described are answered by tooperators on Mardi Gras day? A hellava lot more than what the Pumas will do. This isn’t harrassment…It is their job.
Moreover, we are talking here about one more illegal tactic used to circumvent rules of this Party andlegal rights, here. Even if it came close to harrassment, I say do it…our country is at stake.

My recollection of prior conventions is that states go alphabetically and can, and do, pass if they choose to. It’s all part of the choreography and which state gets to put the candidate over the top. So, this is nothing new and I’ve seen a lot of conventions.

I have seen with my own eyes, state chairs collecting and consulting with delegates on the floor prior to their state call, and the pass has often been about not having all the votes right there on the floor in hand. This is often the case when in fact there is more than one candidate at convention trying to get and switch votes from one candidate to another.
This delegate either conveniently or in ingorance of the past gave you just enough info to not state the facts of the prior traditions and rules in this party. Once more the older you are, the more you see how devient this entire process continues to be. Go to the press.

i think the “secret votes” language is inflammatory. however, murphy posted two dnc rules that it appears the dnc might be considering violating. where murphy got this info, i don’t know. but, if you want more info, i think that’s understandable and you may want to send murphy an e-mail asking for more details.
as for the petition, again, this info is coming from murphy. as for how the media can get in touch with delegates, that’s something i would imagine the media can do quite readily since the media is on the ground in denver and has access to lots of folks at the convention, but who knows? in any case, i don’t feel it’s ever my job when i write a letter to the editor to provide them with contact info, though if i have it, i surely provide it.
again, i think you raise great points and i also believe it is crucial to corroborate “info” before acting on it to make sure it’s credible.

Just heard on Fox there will be a vote for Acclamation for Obama, delegate vote symbolic but Hillary will get a vote….UGH, I am furious and saddened. Texas – One compromise is that when contacting the media, for example, one can say, “it is my impression that the DNC is considering ………” That way you don’t make ahard and fast statement that may 1) be totally true, 2) be partially true, or 3) be a complete rumor. One problem is that we just don’t have access to the kind of info we need. We’re scrambling around trying to become mini experts in convention rules, hearing different reports from different media outlets, dealing with a track record of DNC mischief, and trying to cover all of our bases. Not sure we really could ever truly have a 100% air tight case on the issues you’re concerned about. BUT, if there seems to be enough cause to be concerned, perhaps not unreasonable to contact the press to give a heads up for them to investigate. That’s been the catch-22 all year. There’s been tons of stuff out there on Obama that is maybe a powder keg and maybe bs, but it’s the press who has the budget, the staff, the skilled professionals to go out into the field and verify. They just haven’t done it.

Re: Hotels and Howard Dean
A hotel at a guests’ request will not give out any information. With the security concerns and the recent dust up with Nancy Pelosi having to change hotels because a guest had guns at check-in the chances are nil that a hotel will give out Dean info.
The best way to reach him is through an assistant or member of the credentials team.
Dean will do his best to avoid PUMA’s in Denver. The Obama/Dean/Pelosi strategy for unifying the part is to have half of us sit down and shut up….or just leave the party.
It’s all about publicity and Dean is hiding out from any real issues…like he always has.

elaine – i eavesdropped on your conversation with living grace! i agree dean is a waste of our energy. it’s media attention that’s crucial. that said, i fear we are truly in the 11th hour of the 11th hour, especially when you think of the lag time in composing and then making any piece public (be it via tv or newsprint). i think a lot of this falls to the delegates now. they’re on the ground, in the trenches so to speak, and they have the most direct info as to what’s going on (or at least it’s not as many points removed as when we get it).
i’m grappling with acting and accepting that we’ve reached a milestone, albeit with enormous remaining concerns and frustrations. there may be little more left to do in this round. at some point we will each have to face that cause the convention is happening and it will soon be over and we will be in the next phase. it’s hard to be in this transitional period when we’re still fighting hard in round one, while also facing that the bell is about to ring. just my 2 cents.

Just saw the e-mail from the Dem Party with the photo (or I guess it’s the start of a video you can play) of Obama and Biden. Lord, it was just as Firebelle had noted yesterday. Biden looks like he could be Obama’s father (or grandfather!). He looks pretty serious, dignified, if not also a bit unhealthy. Obama looks like a baby and has a very wierd smirk on his face. hey, let’s dont make an “either-or.” Let’s have two committees; one for each arena. Contacting officials is great to demand immediate action. But press contact shows thousands of people at once what’s happening. We need both.
We DON’T need to investigate anything or expect the press to. We simply report on what we know, what we’ve seen. and we try to get our sources directly to the press, even if it’s on “background.” we’re not investigators; we’re witnesses. Biggest tactic of suffragists — having witnesses to tyrrany who can attest to what they see.
Here’s a combo idea: Some of you write letters to officials, then give us copies so we send a press release that “PUMA has sent this letter to this official demanding action.”

Sorry for the delay in response, I was in a meeting.
I’m very familiar with how a switchboard works in a hotel. That’s not the issue.
My point is that it is a completely ineffective exercise to call the hotels that we think he MAY be staying in and overwhelming them with messages. The risk/reward calculus is tipped firmly in the “risk” end.
Look at Post #241, for example, by Ergot4Hillary. It isn’t a hotel operator’s job to suffer a lecture on electoral procedure 400 times a day. And, as I said before, when you think about it there is no way in hell Dean even glances at the message light on the phone. That is not how people in his position communicate on the road. Not at all. It is wasted PUMA energy and time, with the ancillary problem of potentially negative reactions from circumstantially related operators (and all their friends/relatives/co-workers).
You say “If I am a telephone operator in a hote, I am supposed to answer andtransfer calls…” and I agree. But if a guest asks that their information and presence be kept private the operator has a duty to honor that request. I think you would agree that Dean would make such a request, since he’s like that.
You continue: “Can you fathom how many thousands of calls of the kind I have described are answered by tooperators on Mardi Gras day? A hellava lot more than what the Pumas will do. This isn’t harrassment…It is their job.”
I think if you asked a hotel operator in New Orleans they would probably say Mardi Gras is their most miserable time of the year. Why spread the misery to Denver? Just because Dean is a deaf-to-the-voters dickhead doesn’t mean we should do something that is arguably harassment.
I think we, as PUMAs, need to be very thoughtful in this hectic time. Just because the DNC takes the low road doesn’t mean we have to join them there. Acting honorably, thoughtfully and respectfully will serve both to accomplish our immediate goals and to ensure that when history judges our efforts we will be seen as unimpeachably right and just.
Hannity just said that the O campaign cancelled the Hillary appreciation day march. That is the one organized by Saharra Bledsoe of The Rise.

ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND, THE STATE HAS NO AUTHORITY TO INTERVENE IN THE INTERNAL OPERATIONS OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY; BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE TO SPEND TAX DOLLARS TO SUPPORT THEIR SHENANIGANS, OR EXTEND THE PRIVILEGE TO GET ONTO STATE GENERAL ELECTION BALLOTS, WHICH PRIVILEGE IS LIMITED TO THE TWO MAJOR POLITICAL PARTIES, WHO PICK THEIR CANDIDATE FOR POTUS AT THEIR “NOMINATING CONVENTION” So, you are concentrating on ‘process’; the DNC is breaking no state laws by operating against their own rules.*
This PROWL has 2 parts: 1) contact state Attorneys General and Secretaries of State; and then 2) contact the press and tell them what you have done because once you have done this, it’s news.
1. Explain, this is the last straw. Point out some other “abuses of process” from your lists.
Make clear that if the DNC imposes a nominee then you will work to change the state laws that allow them to operate in your state. (In fact, according to the state laws I have read so far, if a major political party fails to place on the state ballot a candidate for POTUS in the general election, then that party loses the privilege of automatically getting its candidate on the ballot in the next general election. Check your state election laws.)
And ask these state officials to pass this promise on to state party chairs, and Chairman Dean.
*In OK, MA, CA, KY, GA, TN, AZ, NM, VA, OH, OR, or IN, state legislators enacted a law, which governors signed, requiring pledged delegates to vote for their candidate, unless the candidate releases that obligation. So, in these states, pressuring delegates pledged to vote for HCR, to switch to BO, before the vote at the nominating convention, IS soliciting them to break the law.

Ugh. The number of different reports in the press regarding how the roll call is going to go has my head spinning. I think no matter how the DNC tries to rig this, it’s going to boil down to the pledged delegates holding their ground. It remains to be seen how much conviction they will prove to have.
Meanwhile, the media seems to be the best place to focus our efforts about anything going on that appears newsworthy. (Would that it would be something positive for a change, but of course, newsworthy these days seems to mean more bs from the DNC).

I understand the state can not tell the DNC how to run its operation. BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE TO SPEND TAX DOLLARS TO SUPPORT THEIR SHENANIGANS. I have heard rumors the DNC intends to circumvent its usual customary “past practice” of holding an open roll call vote of delegates on the floor of the convention, for everyone to see, in order to install one candidate as its nominee. Make it clear that if the DNC imposes a nominee I will work to change the state laws that allow them to operate in our state.
And I ask that our state officials to pass this promise on to state party chairs, and Chairman Dean.
You can not reward BAD behavior!!!!

I don’t have any one point or action in mind. But it’s one way of preparing for a possible Obama nomination; the press will remember us; be more likely to follow us.

EVERYONE..remember that Hillary is doing what she has to do right now. Let’s wait and see. I have said many times…she said She is in it to win. Let this play out. Hillary is a very smart lady. It is hard for me to watch also but I do believe in the power of prayer and I do believe in miracles. This is a battle worth fighting for and I know Hillary knows we are out there fighting.
