As I mentioned downstairs, it is not Hillary’s responsibility to have her supporters go to the dark side, if Barry wanted our votes, he should have done something about it long ago (not that I can think of anything that would make me vote for him- if he were running against Satan I still wouldn’t vote for him).
And I have been telling people this is no longer about Hillary. She sometimes sounds like she is drinking the kool-aide although I am sure it is force-fed to her.
This is now about taking “democracy” back to the voters- not the media, not party elites, back to the voters.
As far as a McCain/Clinton ticket, I do think it would be game changing but I don’t think either of them are in the position this year to do it. And she does not believe in his platform. But it sure would beat the heck out of BO and I am all for a landslide loss for him in NOvember!
BTW- it looks like BO is now ahead only 10 electoral votes! I say next week, we get to work on the swing states!

Big Cat: just saw the same broadcast. Poll says was an internet poll, they have “faith” in it because so many of the younger set do not take land-line polls. Anyway, betwen 18-24 year olds Obama has a 32 point lead as far as support goes. However when asked who they TRUST to be Commander in Chief Mccain has a 3 point lead on Obama.

CASE OF FIRST IMPRESSION
This has never happened before, that is, the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination for POTUS cannot be involved in securing her nomination, which is being wrested away from her by her opponent, because this would forestall her getting the nomination (and, therefore, keep her off the state general election ballots). Everyone is trying to figure out what to do. And I happened to figure out what to do, first.
As of the time of that conference call with the delegates last Tuesday, no one even knew that several states enacted vote binding laws. Howard Wolfson mentioned these states 4 days later, on FOX; that’s how fast the news spread. But I knew about these states back on the 13th, and notified the 3M’s. And researched the states. And wrote letters to each state. And tried to get these out through the blog. (Way to go, Georgians!)
Obviously, Ricki Lieberman – someone told her about me – liked my work, because she put it in her newsletter. And she sent it to Alegre’s Corner, who obviously liked it, because she posted it on her blog. And the people working with the delegates put this in their delegate packets.
So, the fact that I graduated from law school doesn’t help much here; it’s not like the DNC is breaking the law. But I am pretty smart. And I am the most powerful person in the democratic process because I vote. This means, if I don’t like something that is happening in my country, I just have to take the time to figure out how to fix it. And that’s what I did here.

I think once the convention begins you won’t hear much about PUMAs it will all be the speeches.

Make sure that in their contacts with state officials they stress they are not asking the state to intervene in the DNC. And that if they are unsure of the connection between the state and sponsorship for the DNC, they at least make clear to their state officials, they will study up on this connection, and stop giving the DNC, as opposed to any other party, special consideration in that state.

Will Bower was on the Sean Hannity radio show today and they talked about the PUMA & JSND movement.
– Will was great!
– He said many of us pumas didn’t tune in to Hannity or Fox before, but now we do!
– He said JSND/Pumas are turning down BO, and he’s voting for McCain (though some Pumas will vote third-party, stay home or write-in HRC)
– He spoke of how flawed and unjust the caucus system is, and how outrageous it is that BO got more delegates from the Idaho caucus (where he beat Hillary by 13,000) than Hillary got from the big states of Texas and Ohio combined (where she beat BO by 300,000!).
– He said that if the MSM would have fully exposed & covered the Rev. Wright story at the beginning of the Primaries, Hillary would be the nominee.

Olbermann wasn’t there but Matthews was. Along w/a ton of Obama supporters but there were many, many PUMA’s with signs that said primarily
“Let the Delegates Vote!”
We also chanted this, chanted about the Caucus Frauds, chanted “Power to the People,” chanted “This is what Democracy Looks Like!!!”
I just HAD to find a laptop to tell all of you.

Finished watching Pelosi give her speech. She was so nervous and lost her train of thought more than once. When she mentioned Hillary there was a loud applause.
Not so much for Barry, though. She couldn’t wait to get off the stage.
Commentators on the channel said her speech was “pure rhetoric” and “generic”. They also said her speech did nothing to sway voters to Barry.

I am writing to you to protest the state of Rhode Island allowing the Democratic party access to our state election ballots.
I understand that state officials cannot intervene in the internal operations of any political party. I want to make clear that this is not what I am asking you to do. Rather, I am putting you on notice, that if the DNC refuses to hold a bona fide floor vote on the nomination, I will work diligently to revoke the special status that our state laws grant to candidates from the Democratic Party to get on the ballot.
We spend taxpayer money for elections that are fair and honest, and support the will of the people. The DNC has shown through it’s nomination of a candidate by fiat, that they are not abiding by our state’s principles. Barack Obama was given the nomination without reaching the proper number of delegates needed to secure it. The super delegates do not officially vote until the convention. Now we see that the super delegates will not be voting at all.
Furthermore, there is widespread reports and investigations of fraudulent voting irregularities in several states. In the Texas caucuses there was massive voter fraud and voter intimidation. In Oregon there were dead people voting. In Los Angeles, gang members were hired to walk neighborhoods and threaten people to vote for Obama. In some southern states there are instances being investigated of votes being sold for $20. , or in some cases, for drugs. These problems affect the results of voting in all states, Rhode Island included. (I.e. see website http://www.lynettelong.com/caucusfraud/meals_prizes/ )
I protest the spending of our state tax dollars to allow a private club such as the DNC to pick their own candidate by their own rules and run it on our state ballots. I request that the DNC not be allowed access to our state ballots without the requisite fees and petitions that the other political parties such as the Green Party or the Libertarian Party must pay and supply, unless they return to holding fair elections based upon votes of citizens.
I suggest that you notify the DNC of my intention, backed by the intention of a very large network of protestors under the aegis of PUMA PAC. I have tried to warn the Democratic Party myself, but the party is not hearing me.

IMHO, I think Hillary should do as FDR did in 1932, take it to the floor. There comes a time when you have to stand up for yourself and your constituents. I can feel the frustration and disappointment of some of our people. Isn’t anyone questioning the reversal of the RBC regarding the seating of the full FL and MI delegation at this point in time after they initially and very vehemently voted to only seat half or at least give them half a vote? Monday marks the beginning of the Democratic National Convention in Denver. A combination of factors makes this particular convention historic on many levels. Democrats have just completed an incredibly compelling primary cycle that has both energized and divided the Democratic Party. Because of the unique nature of the Democratic primary, we believe Obama will receive a significant bump from his convention.
This cycle mirrors Bill Clinton’s Democratic convention in 1992: A historic 16-point bump. Barack Obama is more similarly situated to Bill Clinton in 1992 than any other candidate in recent history. Bill Clinton was a new candidate on the national scene; he was running in a “change” oriented election cycle and the economy was voters’ top issue — a dynamic he was able to capitalize on. He received a 16-point bump coming out of his convention. Obama is also a “new” candidate in a change-oriented environment. And, like Bill Clinton, he will spend the convention presenting himself as the agent of change who will fix the economy.
Obama will ride his VP bump. In addition to Obama taking advantage of the political environment, he will announce his Vice Presidential candidate late this week. This announcement typically gives a candidate a 5-point temporary bump that dissipates. However, Obama’s timing allows him to maximize his Vice Presidential bump and sustain press attention for the course of the week. He will ride the wave of an announcement from late this week (announcement expected by Saturday) through his speech on Thursday. This means that whatever bump he gains from the announcement has the potential to be lasting.
Obama will correct his underperformance with Hillary Clinton’s primary voters and emerge with a much more cohesive base. This convention gives Obama a platform to unite his base. There continues to be a divide in the Democratic base: Between 10-15% of Democrats are voting for McCain or sitting on the fence. In target states, that number is even higher, between 15-20% in many surveys. The Obama campaign knows that winning or losing in states like Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania depends on Obama’s ability to bring these voters home. If his convention successfully showcases Hillary Clinton and heals the wounds from the primary, he will move large groups of voters in those key places.
Obama’s stadium address on Thursday — the 45th anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech — will result in effusive and overwhelming press coverage. On Thursday, Obama will give a great speech, as has been his trademark. The press will sing his praises and remark on his historic address and Obama’s place in history. For example, The Associated Press today published an article comparing the historic nature of the addresses – a week before Obama’s speech. This coverage will be impenetrable and will undoubtedly impact the polls.
We believe Obama will see a significant bump, and believe it is reasonable to expect nearly a 15-point bounce out of a convention in this political environment

Scattered across the convention floor are 600 delegates with small green buttons that say “300” and mean much more. They were distributed today to delegates who signed the petition calling for Hillary Clinton’s name to be put into nomination. They needed 300 names and collected twice that. Barack Obama agreed, and her name will indeed be put forward.
Each delegate who signed received a card with his or her name and what number the person represented on the petition. The cards also included this optimistic message: “…Making what appears to be impossible possible.”
“Number 95,” Neil Emmons of Dallas said, introducing himself to a fellow Clinton supporter.
“I was No. 28,” said Helene Ratner of Langhorne, Pa., who was distributing the pins to others in the Pennsylvania delegation. She is hoping that she has the chance to cast her vote for Clinton. The current plan is for a full roll call vote but some are considering only a partial roll call where only some states get to vote.
“I have an obligation as a delegate,” she said. “I signed on to represent her. The people at home voted for me to vote for Sen. Clinton.”

I am writing to you to protest the state of Rhode Island allowing the Democratic party access to our state election ballots.
I understand that state officials cannot intervene in the internal operations of any political party. I want to make clear that this is not what I am asking you to do. Rather, I am putting you on notice, that if the DNC refuses to hold a bona fide floor vote on the nomination, I will work diligently to revoke the special status that our state laws grant to candidates from the Democratic Party to get on the ballot.
We spend taxpayer money for elections that are fair and honest, and support the will of the people. The DNC has shown through it’s nomination of a candidate by fiat, that they are not abiding by our state’s principles. Barack Obama was given the nomination without reaching the proper number of delegates needed to secure it. The super delegates do not officially vote until the convention. Now we see that the super delegates will not be voting at all.
Furthermore, there is widespread reports and investigations of fraudulent voting irregularities in several states. In the Texas caucuses there was massive voter fraud and voter intimidation. In Oregon there were dead people voting. In Los Angeles, gang members were hired to walk neighborhoods and threaten people to vote for Obama. In some southern states there are instances being investigated of votes being sold for $20. , or in some cases, for drugs. These problems affect the results of voting in all states, Rhode Island included. (I.e. see website http://www.lynettelong.com/caucusfraud/meals_prizes/ )
I protest the spending of our state tax dollars to allow a private club such as the DNC to pick their own candidate in violation of even their own rules, and run that candidate on our state ballots. I assure you, I intend to work to amend our state laws so that from now on DNC will not be allowed access to our state ballots without the requisite fees and petitions that the other political parties such as the Green Party or the Libertarian Party must pay and supply, unless they return to holding fair elections based upon votes of citizens.
I suggest that you notify the DNC of my intention, backed by the intention of a very large network of protestors under the aegis of PUMA PAC. I have tried to warn the Democratic Party myself, but the party is not hearing me.

DENVER — Even though Hillary Clinton’s supporters know she won’t be the Democratic presidential nominee this year, many groups of discontented Clinton backers are rallying at the Democratic National Convention to show they haven’t given up on the dream.
Groups such as PUMA, Just Say No Deal, 18 Million Voices and The Denver Group are among dozens that continue to support Clinton despite Barack Obama’s coming nomination acceptance speech on Thursday.
Delegates and others attending the Denver convention have already seen marches and rallies citywide as die-hard Clinton supporters make a final thrust at securing the far-fetched prize. 18 Million Voices was expected to host a march on Tuesday to advocate women’s rights and celebrate Clinton’s achievements. The Denver Group, funds permitting, is running commercials on Denver television stations through the official roll call on Thursday.
Some of these groups, such as Just Say No Deal, have not directly endorsed Clinton, but say they want to see the New York senator have a last shot at winning the nomination. The Denver Group, for example, objects to the coronation ceremony that has become the modern convention week and is calling for an open convention in which Clinton gets a “genuine roll call vote” rather than a symbolic gesture.
Other individuals who previously supported Clinton have formed loose-knit collectives with the aim of promoting Republican candidate John McCain as the alternative to Obama in November. Clintons4McCain says the democratic process means government should be “one of the people for the people and by the people not ‘of the party for the party and by the party.’”
“We Are Volunteers Dedicated to Bringing You The Real Barack H. Obama, And We Are NOT GOP Spies,” the group’s Web site says.
Some women’s groups have opted not to support Obama, saying Clinton’s historic campaign has brought change to the political world and women need to carry that progress further.
Obama said last week that he recognizes Clinton’s supporters have worked hard and want her to get recognition at the convention. His campaign has worked with Clinton’s advisers to tamp down speculation that the two sides are uncooperative and harbor ill will.

Yesterday was an amazing day with interviews with the press all day. The international press was all over Nancy, from San Diego, and myself, as we strolled down the 16th St. mall with our Hillary signs. I will now be world famous, or infamous, and everyone will know that Kathy Skerl will vote for John McCain if Obama gets the n omination. I handed our some of our videos, including Reuters, LA Times, and…gosh a few more I can’t remember.
Last night I went to see the premier showing of the Audacity of Democracy. I met Will Bowers, Diane M from the Just Say No Deal Coalition, Darraugh, etc. The film was about 40 minutes; it is not done yet…focused on the Texas Primaries. And they had good food.
After the film I once again urged everyone to get out on the 16th St. mall with their Hillary gear and march on down to the MSNBC/NBC location for a protest. Guess what!! we did it today! Did anyone watch Chris Matthews? That was us shouting in the background…PUMA! Sexist! Hillary! We stayed quite a while and the Obama supporters got testy. It was a really great march and demonstration….we heard Matthews dissed us and Jack Cafferty called us Hillerybillies. At least they know that Hillary fans are hear.
There are many rumors about what is going on with the delegate count. Even the delegates don’t know. It is impossible to know what the truth is…al ot is disinformation to create chaos and it is working.
I have to go off to the Pumapac rally tonight; tomorrow is the march and risehillaryrise rally and lunch with Hillary. Then a meeting with the Denver Group in the evening. There is a lot of interest in Hillary and many s upporters here who really still want her to get the nod. I have talked to many Hillary delegates and they are planning on voting for her even if she releases them and asks them not too…they are with us and when they see her supporters out they are so happy. While marching down 16th st today with the protest, two Hillary delegates standing on the s idewalk, shook my hand and said thank you.

I was just watchin cnn. Seems that Obamas team is running around getting signatures to place both Obama and Hillary as well as Biden in nomination. Brazille said that this effort is being carried out by Obamas staff. Making it appear that Obamas camp is the one getting Hilary in nomination.

BO’S SIGNATURE GATHERING TO GET HRC ONTO THE NOMINATING BALLOT, DECONSTRUCTED
This is so funny. You know what happened? These idiots. You know how there are a few ways to get your name into nomination, according to the DNC Call to the Convention? Well, I will bet this is what happened.
HRC only was able to get into nomination because behind the scenes, grass roots volunteers surreptitiously put together a nominating petition signed by more than 300 delegates, to get her on the ballot. Word got out HRC now had the requisite signatures and so, the DNC put out word ‘BO had decided to let HRC onto the ballot.’ Except, the only mechanism for getting her on the ballot were those signatures on the petition put together under wraps by her supporters! So now, BO has to come up with a duplicate process that makes it look like he is putting this together because 1) the DNC announced days ago that HE had agreed she should be on the nominating ballot; and 2) he didn’t want everyone else to know how much support she had.

If it’s Barack Obama’s party, why can’t anyone quit talking about Hillary Clinton?
The presumptive nominee’s main challenger will be the featured speaker Tuesday night, she will officially release her delegates Wednesday morning, she’s said over and over the party need to unite behind Obama.

Obama supporters wonder just how enthusiastically the Senator from New York and her husband the former President will back the Democratic nominee.
The two sides reportedly have reached a deal to limit the roll-call vote for President.
Many Clinton backers said Monday they were not interested in compromise and wanted a prime-time celebration of Clinton’s nomination fight. Clinton herself said she wouldn’t tell her backers how to vote.
Democratic officials involved in the negotiations said the deal would let a few states cast votes for Clinton before a move to declare Obama the nominee by acclimation.
Still, she told supporters she would cast her own vote for Obama and said, “We were not all on the same side as Democrats, but we are now.”
The voting could perhaps end with New York, when Clinton herself would call for unanimous nomination of Obama from the convention floor, Democratic officials said. The officials spoke on condition of while the deal was being finalized.
Clinton advisors have been holding talks almost every day on the question of how to handle the issue, and they are still struggling to solve the mechanics of honoring Clinton without getting bogged down in time-consuming counting.
Obama said he isn’t involved in negotiations over the roll call and is letting campaign manager David Plouffe work out the details with the Clinton team

Even as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, vanquished nominee, marked the opening day of the Democratic National Convention by diving headlong into her role as a top ambassador for Sen. Barack Obama, it remained far from certain that Democrats will leave town Friday much more unified than they were when they arrived Monday.
Polls continue to show that as many as one of four Clinton supporters don’t plan to vote for Obama for president, and several pro-Clinton groups, including 18 Million Voices, are planning a march and rally in downtown Denver today. Hillary Clinton buttons are nearly as popular as Obama-wear among delegates and party activists here.
“I’d love to think that Hillary supporters will be able to support Obama without hesitation, but for a lot of Hillary supporters I’ve heard, they’re very reluctant,” said Tyler Clendenin, 27, a web developer from Tampa and a member of the convention rules committee who wore both Clinton and Obama buttons.
At a gathering of the Clinton-friendly National Hispanic Caucus Monday morning, Clinton warned that Sen. John McCain and the Republican Party were trying to exploit the rift “to divide us, divert us from what’s really at stake.”
Indeed, McCain campaign workers passed out flyers downtown Monday inviting people to a “Happy Hour for Hillary” at a local cafe.
His campaign also began airing a TV spot that features a woman named Debra Bartoshevich saying she is a “proud Hillary Clinton Democrat” who plans to back McCain because “now he’s the one with experience and judgment.”
“A lot of Democrats will vote McCain,” she says in the ad. “It’s okay, really.”
As the convention opened with the theme “One Nation,” Clinton and other top Democrats were making the rounds among delegates to convince them that no, it’s not okay. Clinton is scheduled to address the convention tonight, when she’ll make a prime-time pitch for unity.
On Wednesday, Clinton will hold a meeting with her delegates (whose number nearly equals that of Obama), where she is likely to release them so they can pledge their support for Obama.
That evening, her husband, former President Bill Clinton, is scheduled to speak.
Yet even her appearances around Denver — where she’s dipping in and out of meetings with Democratic activists to preach the gospel of Obama — seemed to highlight the division, rather than the solidarity.
Consider the Hispanic Caucus meeting, where she drove the crowd wild with a surprise visit before lunch.
The members, representing Hispanics from Florida to California, drowned out her introduction with applause and chants of “Hillary! Hillary! Hillary!” and refused to sit when she launched into the reasons they should vote for the Democratic nominee: from health care to the environment, Obama would best represent their interests, not McCain.

Don’t want to start a huge debate on this but:
You know: I was “pro choice” – until this election.
1) I am also pro-HUMAN rights and this election has me looking at all of the issues and the importance of legislature, how the candidates vote and their rational. It also made me take a hard look at abortion practices that are barbaric. Obama’s 3 votes protecting those practices – on the basis that “he wouldn’t want his daughters to be punished with a child for her mistake” did me in. (he seems to make a lot of decisions based on he and his people – rather than what is ethically, morally right.
2) Today, I am not so sure if “abortion rights” is the ONE BONE that the democratic party has been using to control my vote all these years.
I can control whether I get pregnant a hell of a lot easier than an innocent, defenseless human being can defend itself from being put to death because of my “mistake”.
This election has revealed to a whole lot of us that there is a lot wrong with our culture – and how we treat each other.
A whole lot of that can be attributed to those who have us believing that the only way we can accomplish anything meaningful in our lives is by electing them – as if they are going to represent “our values” and help us achieve our ambitions from the White House.
It’s all bullsh*t… and the day we each decide that these power-mongering politicians are not our “Pharoahs” is the day there will be a collective conscious shift on our part which ceases to encourage them to become our “Pharoahs”.
The same is true with the mainstream media. They have nothing to sell me on anymore because I am certain they have nothing of value in their own stock in trade.
Bitter? No… I’m just REAL AWAKE now! And, MO standing behind any podium preaching to me… is like waking up to another nightmare!

And I am so sick of hearing what great parents these are. Jimmy Carter, Jesse Jackson, NARAL president Nancy Keenan, Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer, Rahm Emanuel, Federico Peña, AFL-CIO president John Sweeney, Tom Daschle, Harry Reid, John Kerry, Richard Daley, Bill Clinton and Al Gore. Wow all the stations are panning the convention, even CNN. Carville is furious and said they wasted the first day. But, Donna Brazile said while it might seem boring the fireworks will begin and it will be great! Apparently it was all about BO and nothing about the opposition (Bush and McCain) or the party. I watched the convention speeches.
Michelle’s speech was hokey and contrived, and poorly acted, and she lied about their stories.
I yelled at the TV. I even hopped around for a second or two and I cursed. I saw people tearing up, and I felt pity for them.
It was so false…such DISNEY BS, it made me want to scream.
The “Obama Show” was weak.
I am just too angry to formulate my critique in any sort of definitive way…well, maybe: FAKE! FAKE! FAKE!
Well Pumas….I watched the whole convention on KERA. The crowd was so mellow and not excited at all except when Teddy Kennedy came on and when Michele mentioned Hillary. Unfortunately Michele memorized her lines well and didn’t say anything we could use against her. Lots of lies and exaggerating going on. Pundits kept saying that the Hillary supporters would all come on board by the end of the convention. Also they said that on Wednesday that Hillary would be on the roll call and that they would let a few states vote but then Hillary would stop the vote and give her delegates to Obama for Unity of the party.
I am really mad now. Too many blogs to go back and read so I am getting a glass of wine and taking a break. I have to go to Dallas tommorrow. I am not doing anymore prowls until I hear from Murphy. If Hillary is going to stop the votes then her faithful delegates will not be able to vote for her and the petition and everything we have done to help her will be meaningless. I will watch tomorrow to make sure that is what she is doing but it looks like this whole thing is fixed. Oh and they never meantioned the protesting going on outside. They made it look as if everything went well.

She was suppose to come out and tell us the life story of who Barrack Obama is. She was suppose to leave us with a connection that would make us consider the possibility of voting for him. She left me feeling, disconnected.
Yes the kids are cute, Michelle looked nice and she even managed to say, “That’s why I love this country.” But she could not stand still, she spoke too quickly for me, and she never once showed a tear of emotion with the story of her father’s struggle with MS. The one place I was connected to her is when she mentioned bringing their baby daughter home. Other than that her speech was talking points. If I had to grade her I would give her a C-.
I loved the Kennedy’s as usual they connect to people on an emotional level and on a Patriotic level. They make you want MORE families like them. Not perfect, not without sin, not the most beautiful looks, but they are all about loving their family and their country.

I finally watched MO – I have tivo’d it. I did not think her speech was that bad. It was not great by any means, and I do not like her any better, but her speech was not as bad as I was expecting.
My candle is lit and in my window. I am teary-eyed feeling the unbroken circle with all of you bloggers, all our PUMAs in Denver, all of our yet-to-be identified PUMAs out there. and I feel I’m holding hands with those women 88 years ago who suffered beatings in jail to get the right to vote. They got that for us 88 years ago. Now it’s our turn to make sure that our votes count. and get counted.
I was only able to catch the Kennedy tribute tonight and I was kind of disappointed. There was too much of Obama in the video. Since it was a tribute to Kennedy I was hoping to see more about Kennedy. I did tear up when he walked out on stage, that was a touching moment.
If McCain would ask Hillary to be his V.P, it would be the end of the DNC Corruption. It would essentially be a win win because John and Hillary are friends, there would be true balance in power, McCain would undoubtedly win, Hillary would have a chance to run and win after the term(s).
I have always thought that if it came down to it-this is the way to stop the corruption!

I do not blog due to the fact that I must use my computer for work and must keep it very clean (security wise), but I read all the blogs daily and do all the prowls I can. 1 No matter how much we want to it is physically impossible to jump into the convention and shake some sense into the DNP heads

I am drafting each a letter and coping the State Democrate Party explaining why I will not be voting for or contributing to them this election year, basicially Obama. For one of my states one delegate, who happens to be a US Representative, I wrote her again, asked her why she did not respond to my other emails,asked her why she took money from Obama, then copied my email to her Rep rival.

This may rub many of you the wrong way tonight, but frankly I thought Michelle Obama’s speech was wonderful. I have no problem with it. I found it very grounded, heartfelt, and sincere. For the first time in a long time, it sounded like something she actually wrote herself — which she is of course completely capable of doing. I enjoyed listening to her story.
After she finished, everyone in the room at my house said, “Why doesn’t Michelle run for President?”
I thought she did a very fine job. I can’t even imagine how surreal it must be to be in her shoes tonight.
Give the woman a break.

Obama disavows comment; Jones issues quasi-apology
Just hours before Jones received a last-minute, pre-prime-time speaking role at the Democratic National Convention, he expressed regret to Chicago political consultant Delmarie Cobb for insulting her — after insisting earlier in the day he had no reason to apologize to her.
Cobb said Jones finally apologized during a Monday event.
“He came over, sat down. A couple of people obviously had something to do with it,” Cobb said, without elaborating. “He sat down at the table with me. He said, ‘I apologize and let’s move forward.’ I accepted his apology and said, ‘OK, we will.’ It was never my intention to continue things that would hurt Barack Obama.”
Jones, however, offered a much less apologetic version of his Monday conversation with Cobb.

I really would like to see Hillary step up. She made promises to us during her campaign. She did not lose – she won the primaries.
I wish she would stop telling us to support BO because he is a Dem. Actually, I have no idea what he is. He has no policies, he has no experience, he has no judgment, he has lied, he has cheated, he associates with criminals, and the list goes on.

I expect to see “the new and improved” Michele Obama tonight, probably had major work with image consultants.
But America will remember-
1. “For the first time in my life, I’m proud of my country”
2. “I just want to rip his eyes out” talking about Bill Clinton.
3. “I’d really have to think about it, her tone” etc. when asked if she’d support Hillary
4. Her table manners at the pancake breakfast.

oh now come on, we weren’t actually suggesting she run for president. it was more of a ‘wow, that was a refreshingly natural speech’ sort of thing.
i have seen some very nasty things said on this blog about the spouse of the nominee , things i find startling in this day and age. call me old fashioned, but i think some have gone too far in their picking apart of michelle obama. go for the jugular on the nominee, if you wish, but i don’t see the spouses as such fair game. comments on appearance, table manners, christmas presents (or not) really have no place in this conversation, IMHO.
I realize some will disagree with me, but I am putting it out there because somebody has to say it, and last I checked, this was still a free country.
people still ought to be treated with a certain amount of respect and dignity. including spouses of candidates, even those of candidates we may not like so much.

If they keep the polls close like they have been, then it is extremely easy (and has been proven possible) to fix the voting machines to rig the elections.
I know no BO supporters. Friends of friends don’t know any BO supporters. AOL map shows McCain consistently winning by around 2 to 1. So how can the polls reflect an even split between BO and McCain? My worry is that the polls are being rigged now so that it won’t look out of place when they rig the vote in November.

Absolutely – I respect your opinion. I just don’t share it. I too have seen nasty posts about her – a little too rough in my opinion. However, I have heard her say hateful things and maintain the right to state that fact. She has shown her true colors.
Also, the fact that she is out stumping for her husband absolutely puts her in the political lime light. Look what they did to Bill when he spoke for Hillary. MO has definitely been on the campaign trail for BO. She is fair game for the pundits – and for comments from us on this blog (within reason – fair and balanced!).

Of course you have a right to say anything you want to and I have a right to respectfully disagree.
I have also seen some nasty things on this blog, although far fewer than I see about Hillary Clinton on other blogs by Obama supporters.
I have never said anything “nasty” about either Michelle or Senator Obama. I have never even referred to them by any of the nicknames I hear them called here.
She put herself out there, not just as a supporter for her husband, which of course I respect her for, but she went after the Clintons. She made herself “fair game”.
And please watch the video of her at the breakfast I was referring to, not only an amazing lack of table manners, but a total disregard for her husband by sticking her arm in his face several times, while he was speaking. A “please pass the pancakes” wouldn’t be too much to ask for a future first lady.

We arrived Sunday……on the prowl from the moment we hit town. Been talking to delegates. Everyone has been interviewed multiple times. The press is constantly following the PUMAs, people in Denver have been really great, not the dangerous confrontation we expected. Cops every where in riot gear, right across from the PUMA HQ.(But friendly and pretty hot looking cops) Today we marched downtown…long flippin’ walk with signs and chanting. Got a lot of attention and Harriet Christan(sp) was with us. Also gave Chris Mathews a lot of cr@p and chanted “sexist pig!” to him while he did the news. We have found many Hillary supporters among the crowd. We don’t have an internet wifi connection that is strong enough to read the blog nor news, nor do we have a tv in our apt. We are just living the PUMA life of rebellion, but we are really being very good PUMAs in general. It is wonderful meeting PUMAs and SouthJersey is going to try to upload some photos for you. (Billie Jo is writing this) We have constantly thought of all of you guys and have you with us at all times. We lite candles for Hillary tonight and it was beautiful.
The PUMA HQs is always packed with PUMAs from all blogs and some delegates. We keep trying to find out the delegate situation with the DNC and it’s monkey business, but never know what is just rumor. Funny thing is how many regular people here already know who PUMAs are, even our cap driver.
People and the media have seen the documentary twice so far and loved it.
We are all working as hard as we can to be visible to the media in hopes that it will pressure the delegates to step up for our girl on Wed. We are all dead tired tonight and the effects of the thin air will make a short post, but will try again tomorrow. Miss and hugs to all of you that are working so hard back at the den. You are here with us and time is short for this chapter of our quest. One more thing, not many *61 supporters expected us so they did not come prepared with Obama signs, so our Hillary signs really dominate when we confront them. DENVER – The “accidental governor” was accidentally overlooked Monday when New York Democrats got caught up in Hillary fever.
Gov. Paterson was supposed to address members of his home state delegation at a kickoff convention breakfast, but Sen. Clinton caused such a commotion when she entered the room that officials running the show forgot to introduce him.
Sen. Chuck Schumer was speaking when Clinton made her appearance and the crowd started to buzz. These were Clinton’s first public remarks since she arrived in Denver, and the room was packed.
The plan was for Schumer to turn the microphone over to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D-Manhattan), who was emceeing the event. The speaker would then introduce Paterson, who, in turn, would present Clinton.
Schumer jumped the gun and introduced Clinton, nearly exhausting his stable of adjectives in the process. He called her a “woman of valor,” and a “principled, courageous, hardworking, detail-oriented, compassionate and caring person.”
Clinton tried valiantly to remedy the situation at the end of her remarks by introducing Paterson, who she said is “doing an extraordinary job.” It was too late – the crowd had already started to disperse.
Paterson, who is legally blind and couldn’t see the room emptying, nevertheless sensed the crowd’s restlessness and declined to speak.
A source close to Paterson called the moment “awkward,” but insisted the governor was not angry and felt it appropriate the event ended on a high note for Clinton.
Paterson, a superdelegate, campaigned for Clinton during the primary and only switched his allegiance to Barack Obama after it was clear she had lost the campaign.

Clinton Issue Won’t Go Away for Obama
During the Democratic Party National Convention this week in Denver, Sen. Barack Obama and his supporters no doubt will talk a lot about what he will do if elected president. But the question of what Obama has not done will hang over his head during the weeks leading up to the Nov. 4 election.
Supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton, barely defeated by Obama for the Democrat nomination for president, still are bitter, according to many reports. And why not? Obama seems to have done little to satisfy their desire for more influence in his campaign.
Sen. Joe Biden is Obama’s choice for his vice presidential running mate, it was revealed a few days ago. Clinton supporters who had hoped she would get the nod – even a symbolic offer of the second-place spot which she, naturally, would turn down – were disappointed.
Clinton herself is a professional. She will be a good soldier, speaking out strongly and loudly in favor of Obama. Her supporters expect no less.
But they also expect at least some deference from Obama – and they have not yet received it. That is a problem that will come back to haunt Obama if he does not swallow his pride and do something to pacify the Clinton supporters.
