I have not been on all day so I have been reading through all the posts. I have to say that when I read the two offensive, racial posts I thought I had read it wrong. I am new to PUMA and this is not the first time I have seen racial remarks being allowed. The “n” word was used just the other day in a slang way. I know that this person apologized, but what she does not realize is that when someone comes on to read this blog they are not going to get to that apology for awhile. We need a moderator that should be picking up on comments like these and taken down immediately. There is NO excuse for this. I am not African American, but I was highly offended when I read these posts. This is exactly what PUMAs are against. This entire election process has had race coming into question. We can not and must not allow it on this blog.
I think there are people who spend far too much time on the blog and don’t realize they are over tired and need to take a break.

I have seen how much this person has contributed to PUMA, it is over and beyond many of us, not to take away from anyone. Trish with all due respect I have to tell you this can be offensive to the many women who find quilting as a hobby and find much pride in their work. Again, I am pointing out that we MUST be careful about what we say. While I got a lot of laughs from you posting what the obots were saying, I have to say we in no way have stayed on focus today, and visiting their site and bringing to our blog their comments can in time cause us to make errors in judgement.
I only see this week becoming more tense and frustrating, so I am going to ask, no make a plea to you to limit yourselves to the blog. I myself and many others have admitted it has almost taken over our lives. Our husbands and kids are complaining of feeling neglected. We are exhausted, our bodies and minds are not fresh and we are going to make poor judgements. Take breaks, NOTHING is so earth shattering that the world will end if we don’t get it first. Thank you for deleting the horrible things that were being posted about our video. I was the person who came up with the idea in the first place to make a video so all the PUMAs staying home could be in Dever with the rest of our PUMA family. I was thrilled to help you with making it and was overjoyed to see the finished product. In saying that….I was nauseated last night when I clicked on to watch it and saw how not only the obots were commenting with such distaste but our suppposedly PUMAs were responding in bad taste. I did not want this video to be made so we could be attacked or so we could attack back. If thats the case then we should just go to their sites and act like them all day. I emailed Carrie today suggesting it be removed if this is what we have to endure with it up. I could not sleep last night knowing it was there with so much hateful remarks. I did not sign on for this.
PUMA stands for People United Means Action…I joined because I read for days and was impressed with all the positive things that were being done. PUMA has and will continue to do great things. I just feel I can no longer be a part of it on this blog. So as jbjd decided I too will let this be my last post.

Once you get used to using it — you’ll love it… just remember to double click the word to highlight it first and then click on the WordWeb icon. It’s an awesome little utility. I think the free version now makes you agree to a user agreement in which you promise to be kind to the environment by not driving a gas guzzling SUV or flying more than a certain number of times in a year… I thought that showed a sense of humor and cracked me up.

That’s 112,264 comments in about 80 days. Of those 112,264, less than 100 have been deleted. Most of those deletions were because someone accidentally posted personal info.
SO, I feel terrible that an awful, ugly comment was public for several hours yesterday. It does NOT reflect the message or the meaning of Puma PAC — it was 100% uncalled for.
But the numbers don’t lie — over 100,000 comments on our threads — WAY less than 1% have had questionable content.
Let’s give ourselves a break here.

I have some unsolicited general advice for people new to Denver and altitude a mile above sea level. I moved here 16 years ago from California and I have not forgotten what it took to become acclimated.
Alcohol will be more effective – it will take you about 1/2 as much to become impaired. The Denver cops are expecting this, so don’t become their victim. DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE. Also, Denver natives are used to this and they will drink you under the table every time.
Drink twice as much water as you think you need for a few days after arriving. Make sure you piss clear.
Don’t try your usual level of physical exertion right away. You’ll get overtired and collapse with fatigue.
Take naps if you can to combat altitude sickness.
There are no mosquitoes or fleas here, but the sun is closer, the air is thinner, and you will get sunburned and short of breath more quickly. Wear sunscreen and a hat or visor outdoors.
It’s hot and dry all day but it gets down to the 50s at night. If it rains, it won’t last long. If it’s cloudy, it will clear soon. But best of all, it’s very dry here – normal humidity in summer is in the single digits. You may sweat but it’s so dry it will evaporate before you feel it.
That’s all – I’m going to bed.

In a weird way, I feel like McCain is sort of sticking up for Hillary and us. I’m not sure that the Obama campaign understands that disrespecting Hillary is dissing her voters. And 25% are still undecided.
21% are already backing McCain. The numbers are pretty easy to read. Almost 50% of 18 million….maybe 8.5 million votes that may go McCain.
There’s Puma Power in the math. The heart of what Obama claims to want (“not red or blue”) may be developing at the Democratic Convention.

Re the offensive posts. Considering where Murphy and other regular moderators are and what they are doing …. I think any complaint about complaints not being handled fast enough should be accompanied by the complainer volunteering to do some of the moderating work him/herself.
The people on the front lines in Denver shouldn’t have to be deleting messages. Surely some of the stay at homes can be authorized to do that.

Sitting in a dive bar last night next to an elderly woman dressed to the nines kicking back rusty nails. She was the personification of dignity. Well nancy poopsi appeared on the TV. To my utter shock she called her the c word. I choked on my beer and looked at her in total dibelief. She looked right back at me and said “what”. I responded i agree but that I thought her language was a little rough. She then told me she was 82 and an MD. So she is qualified to call a “c” when she sees one. She is a huge Hillary supporter and knows first hand about misogony. I hung out with her for several hours until she put me in a cab. Never heard of pumas and says she only uses her computer to play solitaire, but she will look up the site. So everyone keep an eye out for RUSTY NAIL. Funny and smart.
PS A rusty nail is scotch and drambuie and are quite yummy. But I recommend stopping after 4.

Good Morning Pumas – I was just wondering if anyone has heard from Murphy or Maryland Puma. After reading some of the bogs, I feel really bad that I did not get with the program until recently. Maryland Puma could have taught me to do moderating and many of the comments that were made may not have happened if I knew how to “take them out”. I really don’t have any idea of what is happening today or tomorrow and really don’t know what to watch. I do have the baby puma to watch though and I have to get off my schedule to take her to school and fix her lunch which is foreign to me. I do want to say that after talking to many people where I work, the worse thing that people can do at this time is to “become nasty and make comments which offend other people”. I personally do not like to see this on the air even though airing other’s dirty laundry seems to be the going thing these days. I really lose respect for people in office or running for office to make offensive remarks and it turns me off. I am not saying that I myself do not get mad and want to mouth off too but what is that old saying “You get more bees with honey than vinegar” or whatever. We have to realize that there are ignorant people out there who just want you to add gasoline to their fire, so the best thing you can say is “You have a right to your opinion and I have a right to mine” and let it go. After everything settles down I would really like to talk to you about New Orleans. I am a huge fan of Anne Rice and also James Lee Burke and I have been wanting to come down to New Orleans forever. I want to follow Burke’s character “Dave Robicheaux haunts”. I have every book he has written as well as his audio books. I love it when he talks about the weather and flowers and the storms. I also have Anne Rices books and would like to check out the settings for her stories. It is too bad she stop writing the vampire series after her husband died. I have the book Haunted City wich is an unauthorized guide to Anne Rice’s New Orleans. I think that I am obssessed by these two author’s New Orleans. I dont do much traveling and you know the old saying the older you get the more paranoid you are about going to strange places. DENVER – Two months after engineering the biggest political upset in modern Democratic history, Barack Obama still hasn’t made the sale.
His task in Denver: persuade skeptical voters, including some jittery Democrats, that he has the substance and savvy, as well as the sizzle, to run the country.
“His message of hope and change is too amorphous for the average voter,” one strong Obama loyalist told the Daily News. “He has to use the acceptance speech to flesh it out.”
Stylistically, the O-fan added, “he has to start sounding more populist and less academic.”
In particular, Obama must persuade “Reagan Democrats” – working-class voters who live in crucial swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan – that he’s not the arugula-chomping celebrity ridiculed in McCain’s attack ads.
These Wal-Mart Democrats flocked to Hillary Clinton in the primaries and remain lukewarm to Obama. Their reluctance to embrace his trailblazing candidacy helps account for Obama’s puny lead over John McCain, despite national polls suggesting an overwhelming sentiment to end eight years of Republican rule in the White House.
“The American people want to vote for a Democrat, but they’re not quite sure Obama is the right Democrat,” said a senior party strategist. “I have every reason to believe he can close the deal, but he’s not there yet.”
While girding for an epic struggle in the fall, Obama aides are similarly bullish. They believe Obama will begin pulling away with a decisive acceptance speech Thursday and gain momentum at the first debate with McCain on Sept. 26.
Moreover, McCain’s inability last week to remember how many homes he owns handed Democrats a gift-gaffe to hammer McCain as a country-club Republican out of touch with ordinary folks – many of whom Obama must woo to win.
“Manna from heaven,” an Obama strategist chortled.
A Republican veteran of four presidential campaigns – who believes Obama will eventually prevail – forecasts a rerun of the 1980 race, when doubts about Ronald Reagan’s competence kept the race with President Jimmy Carter deadlocked well into the fall. In the final days of the election, voters migrated heavily to Reagan, who won a 44-state landslide.
Obama partisans say Thursday’s speech must leverage his oratorical skills to convince querulous voters he’s “a strong and decisive leader and commander in chief,” as a prominent Democratic official put it. “The problem, if there is one, is that.”
Republicans say Obama can’t make the leap from political phenom to President. “He’s just another John Kerry Democrat,” a senior Republican strategist contended, “and so far he hasn’t been able to prove otherwise.”

I thank NQR for giving me, and Puma PAC, the opportunity to do a live show on their station. Good Morning PUMAs. I made myself watch Fox News last night because I knew they would stir the pot – and yes ladies and gentlemen they did. They were all over BO extending the invite to Obiden and how that was going to tick all of us HRC supporters off. They read a bunch of e-mails from mad folks just like we are. This week when I had to bum a ride to work every day, my coworker and I eventually migrated to a discussion of politics. I know she is a die-hard Republican, but I was shocked to hear how much she admired Hillary and was appalled over how she was treated by the press and the DNC. This—from a Republican. I told her I was involved with PUMA, and she nearly wrecked the car. She screamed, “PUMA….I know what you are doing!” That shocked me even more. She said she was so proud of PUMAs for standing up against the DNC. Aren’t we cool?

Murphy, I cannot say that I was a member of the “founding” PUMAS. Why, because I left for Europe on the 5th of June and even missed Hillary’s suspension speech. I did not have access to a computer and therefore missed all the important developments. After returning home early July, I soon found the Hillary Village and subsequently PUMA PAC.
I have for some time already felt that your “baby” Puma Pac was growing into something much bigger than you could ever have imagined. It seems to me that it has taken on a life of its own, but not to worry, because you have grown with it. It is in your very capable hands and we will grow with you.
It is my thought that this “monster” that you have created will be the nucleus of a real, perhaps reformed, Democratic Party.

Not today — at least not so far!
Yesterday someone posted truly vile racist comments about Obama, which were up for quite awhile before being deleted by Murphy, who was in transit I believe at the time the comments appeared. They were posted by a regular blogger who subsequently apologized, but was allowed to continue posting.
The viciousness of these remarks, and the fact that the author of the racist posts was not banned caused several other loyal PUMAs to resign from this blog in protest. I read the comments myself and I do understand the offense that was taken, because as a person of color I felt the same way.
So my response today just to repeat the “Rules of the Blog” for those who might have missed them when Murphy posted them a couple of days ago.
That’s all — just so we are all on the same page as we move forward.

It’s 8:35 a.m. here in the Rockies and we’re getting ready to open up HQ for the very first time!
1325 Delaware Avenue is an unfurnished empty house that we have SCRAMBLED to transform into Headquarters.
MamaPUMA, Murphy, Me, Sheri Tag, Piper, LadyBoomer, Patrick, Sheri Tag, Piper, LadyBoomer, Daddy’s Darlin’, TruthisGold, Riverdaughter, Betty Jean Kling, Pagan, Robin Carlson, Will Bower, Christy Adkins, Diane M from Hire Heels have all checked in. Many more arrived last night so as PUMAs check in I’ll post updates. Taffy and Dana live here and have been FANTASTIC helping us get acclimated and shuttling PUMAs to their destinations.
We have headquarters set up and it’s KOOL! We have a lit sign outside that we plastered with PUMA posters, banners hung outside and in all the windows. We have all our goodies out for sale and blogging stations rockin and ready to rock!
We’ve sent Murphy on a coffee run and Mama and I are trying to get caught up on the PUMA PAC tech part!
Many thanks to those who have been vigilant on the boards and calling to keep us updated.
We will try to have Mama, Murphy, or me on the blog consistently for the duration of the PUMA Revolution.
Our first announcement is yesterday’s unexpected visit of a delegate who wanted to know more. That was exciting! For obvious reasons, I can not disclose the person’s name.
I have to take a few minutes to get updated on the blog, say hi to my cub and mom, and I’ll update you on the area and the things I saw coming in with Taffy.

Hello all.
Did some “reserved thinking” before going to post with this one. I thought about it first for 15 minutes and think it will be okay. But, I never know what I’m stepping into anymore, so forgive me if I fail my fellow pumas with this angle to the convention regarding the honorable Ms. Clinton.
Here we go:
Bill Kristol of Fox news is bewildered with Biden as VP. He thinks Hillary Clinton is the far more qualified choice.
Now, what he’s “predicting” or rather “suggesting strongly” is that her name will be put in nomination for vice president and most likely would win if it is. Nothing about that Hillary can prevent (I think). She can then either accept the VP nomination or not.
A scenerio such as this would certainly add some drama to the convention. Kristol also thinks it would be, at least, a fun thing.
Wouldn’t change my stand a bit. She degrades herself by being second banana to a monkey. However, Kristol thinks the majority of Clinton’s supporters would find that acceptable.
My point to this post? I’ve never heard of this idea discussed among the pumas and, therefore, could take people by surprise. I’m under the impression that a Clinton VP is not an option.

That being said, please remember to critique, challenge, and love in reverse order and to FORGIVE. We must stay strong and we must stay positive.

I spent most of the day with my most of the family yesterday. It was a rather big gathering and we were all excited about being together and planning for a big event that was taking place. The rest of our family was away and en route to the venue.
As usual there was an array of activity.
Not everyone had arrived at the venue when they were scheduled, so most of the mothers were getting somewhat concerned and calmly discussing the safety of their individual children, but Aunt Sarah paced around frantically checking her watch. Our words of reassurance fell on deaf ears, but we still kept trying……..because “we love her.”
Oh, then there was Uncle Frank trying to make light by telling a few jokes, some off color and a wee bit unacceptable, because there were after all children present. See Uncle Frank is a little hard of hearing and doesn’t realize he can be heard across the room. No one made a big deal because that would just draw more attention to it! An assortment of “shushes”echoed from every corner of the room. Sure we laughed because he was funny…………and “we love him.”
Amanda, the planner of the entire event had not been heard from, and since the crowd was getting impatient, the normalcies of family get- togethers started to emerge. Barbie and Jojo, both focused and annoyed that we were being too jovial, sat together on the other side of the room. We all knew they were vigilant against any activity the rest of us considered well deserved breaks in our routine. We acknowledged their concerns and continued on, because, well…………. we respect and “love them.”
Now, as always, when our family gets together, one or two of us manage to get ourselves in trouble. Usually Barbie and Jojo jump right in, and sometimes not so tactfully, try to put those who have crossed the line, in their place. Sometimes when our authoritative family members are not around, it can get quite out of hand. Mary takes Joeys’ side, and Beth takes Ronnie’s side and chaos results. It sometimes gets really bad and breaks up the party. Some go home and then the rest try to stay and continue to “fix” things. Our family to the outside world seems quite broken, but most return because they know………………we “love them all.”
Well, finally Amanda calls us, and what should have been an exciting time for her has turned into a nightmare. First of all she must contend with a myriad of problems and hurt feelings, anger from those who should support and love her, (personally,I think there is a lot of jealousy), the neighbors complaining about our noise, the content of our discussions, complaints about why she didn’t show up for dinner on time, and why we weren’t fed enough for the day, etc etc………….”hard to love them.”
Hey, we all know better and have been brought up to respect and love our fellowman, especially our family, so because Amanda is so weary, we all only receive, as usual, words of wisdom and encouragement. Hardly even a slap on the wrist. As she continues to apologize to her family (when they should be apologizing to HER), you have got to wonder why,………………….because “she loves us.”
And we all go home, vowing to never let it happen again, and it always does, because we are human and do some undesirable things in the name of excitement. We don’t mean to hurt anyone and usually end up hurting ourselves more, but, …….”we love one another.”

A word of caution. I was trying to post the Texas causas video at the BBC yesterday with an article saying that Obama and the DNC have frayed bear the principles symbolized in the American flag and that true Democracy was now at risk. I pick up a Trojan while there which immediately added 300 somethings onto my computer that only a paid GEEK could eliminate. You get em from clicking on videos’. It is called Antivirus 2008 and originates in Russia. There is software to fix you up, so don’t panic, just be careful and warned. I still want to post the video and story, but I am abit hesitant.

The grassroots petition that roared
When the Clinton and Obama campaigns announced last week that Senator Clinton’s name would be placed into nomination, a group of Clinton delegates cheered for a moment and went right back to work. With Hillary Clinton’s name “officially” on the ballot, the petition signatures were no longer technically needed. But this group of determined individuals pressed on.
“When we started this effort, it was the ONLY way for us to be able to vote in Denver to represent the people who elected us,” said a Clinton delegate from Texas. “We’re proud of what we did. We’re going to see it to the end. Just like our candidate – we don’t quit.”
According to DNC rules, a floor nomination petition needs a minimum of 300 signatures from voting delegates to be submitted. In July, a small but determined group of Clinton delegates and volunteers started reaching out to fellow delegates in true grassroots fashion – one by one – to collect the signatures. This proved to be slow going since Democratic Party officials would not provide contact lists for delegates. The 300 Delegate Petition group was born.
After national and international mainstream media attention, petitions started pouring in. When they received the requisite number of petitions, they once again took a breather and went back to work. DNC rules state that no more than 600 petitions can be submitted. They’re working on it.
“We’ve got well over 300 petitions now in hand,” explained Sue Castner, a Clinton delegate from Portland, OR. “Since we never consulted with Senator Clinton’s campaign, we don’t know if ‘the petition that wouldn’t die’ had anything to do with the two joint campaign announcements made last week. We will probably never know but it certainly made us feel good.”
Signatories include a governor or two, county Democratic party chairs, members of the diplomatic corps, and even some brave Obama delegates. The names of those who signed the petition will remain a mystery unless Senator Clinton decides to file the petition, in which case, their names will be a part of recorded history.
As a meager reward for those delegates who saw the nomination process as a path to party unity and signed this historic document, a numbered commemorative pin will distinguish them from fellow delegates. Rest assured, the green pin, featuring the number 300 with a pen, will be THE most coveted pin in Denver.

I just wanted to wish all of the PUMAS in Denver well and to stay safe. I wanted to be there, but I couldn’t make it happen. My family and I will have you all in our thoughts. I saw a couple of pictures on The Confluence last night. That office space looks great! Please post pictures of everything when it is all set up. I have a horrible time having to wait in between the updates. Please, please make the point clear to the media, that under no circumstances, will we even consider voting for *61. ‘I certainly do hope that Hillary Clinton causes consternation at the Convention. What everyone in the media (including fox news) ignores or doesn’t care about is that neither candidate has won the required number of pledged delegates to be the presidential nominee. Obama (with the help of the mainstream media and the Democratic National Committee) went ahead and proclaimed himself the nominee without the votes. I resent the way Hillary was treated and I resent that she was forced to suspend her campaign.
I will not be voting for Obama. I am a life long Democrat – over 40+ years – and I have never seen such an absolute mess as this year. The Supreme Court selected one president and I hate the fact that the media is trying to select the president for this election.
I can’t believe that I rely on Fox News for information – you say you’re fair and balanced but come on Karl Rove – ugh………….. Although you do try to present both sides there was sexism and misogyny from Fox News people against Hillary also as well as from the so-called Main Stream Media. Also, I am a loss to understand why the defendants were not served prior to the hearing. Or were they? From what I understood when I spoke to you, you indicated that they had not been served. Just Say No Deal Coalition hits MSM in my area:
First, our local news (NBC, KING 5, Seattle) last night said that 25% of Hillary Clinton supporters would never vote for Obama. This statement is the FIRST time they have acknowledged we won’t “fall in line.” Of course, we know the number is higher but at least we were acknowledged.
Second, the Everett Herald writes about the coalition being at the convention:
“‘It’s a total diss to Sen. Clinton, in my opinion’, said Diane Mantouvalos, co-founder of the Just Say No Deal Coalition. ‘It speaks volumes about how Barack Obama doesn’t stand for anything.’
Mantouvalos, of Miami, is part of an Internet movement of Clinton supporters who refuse to back Obama, regardless of pleas from Clinton herself. Mantouvalos is in Denver, where the Democratic National Convention is scheduled to start Monday, stoking anti-Obama sentiment.”
I really like the part where they acknowledge it isn’t Hillary’s fault that we aren’t falling in line. A MSM reporter that actually gets it!

I really envy all of you who got to go to Denver early and who can stay through to the finish. Alas, my daughter and I won’t be arriving until tomorrow evening and are really concerned that we may be late for the candle lighting in Cheesman Park! I have watched Fox now since I left CNN because of the way it treated Hillary. I find Fox News to be refreshing, and covering both sides of the news. I am a dedicated, committed watcher. Now my comments are as follow: Do not get trapped into the Barack Obama and DNC story line. HIllary supporters are not upset that Biden was chosen. We are extremely happy. Obama would have used Hillary to wipe up his messes. HIllary won the democratic nomination. If FL had counted and if in MI he had not received delegates GIVEN to him by the DNC, Hillary would have won the delegate count, and she won the popular vote. We are angry and upset that the DNC and Obama stole the nomination from Hillary. We will not forget in November. McCain has my vote, my husband’s vote, and all of my extended family’s votes, and that is about 50 to 100 people. My voice and my emails have kept them well informed of what has happened. Nancy Pelosi is a poor excuse for Speaker of the House. As a woman I am ashamed of her performance. I want her out.

Just a reminder to keep emailing the delegates throughout the convention. Be very positive, upbeat and focus on electability of Senator Clinton and why she would be the best one to beat Senator McCain. Remind them there will be a vote on the floor for Senator Clinton and they can put their vote in for her. In certain states, her delegates are required by law to vote for her on the first roll call vote.
Do you know many delegates don’t actually decide who they are going to vote for until the day or the time of the vote.

I have watched and followed your devotion to service over the years and have supported you when I could. I was so looking forward to finally having a woman in the White (” Right “) House before I die ( my health is not good).
Having come from that background I know politics can get pretty dirty, but this campaign went way over the top. I have been appalled. In all those years I have never seen a person treated with such disgust and utter disrespected.
I know you have suspended you campaign and have asked us all to support Barack Obama. I am sorry, I can not do that. This whole campaign was a setup. It was rigged from the start by him, the DNC and the MSM.
This whole thing smacked of ” The Good Old Boys Club “. There was no way they were going to allow a woman to live in the White House. Especially one who would stand up to them and not allow them to control her. They ( the ones with power ) would never have allowed a black man to become the President except under these circumstances. In the absence of a strong white male a black man will do. Any thing but a woman.
Even a young, inexperienced black man.
I could no more support this man or party, then a could gravel. My stubborn Irish pride wouldn’t let me.

I think we can be polite but to the point. During the campaign we were asked to write and give all the positives about Hillary and why we feel she is the best. I think we can point out the negatives about Obama however that would take pages and pages. I guess what I am trying to say is be blunt and to the point but polite at the same time….if that makes sense. It is not difficult to find the positive in Hillary. Folks…I am from PA, I haven’t blogged much over the past month. I was very active on all the sites to the point of having my identity breached to the public by Obamanots. Physically I was feeling ill over the events of this past primary and mostly after our fight at the RBC meeting. I needed a break or I felt breakdown overtaking me.
We vowed to vote for McCain at that gathering because we saw the direction of where things were headed.
Murphy, I LOVE your SPIRIT for fighting this all the way to the convention. I have donated to your cause as well as others going to Denver. Unfortunately I have noone to watch my daughter, otherwise I would have gone down.
Please (all who brave to speak your voices in Denver), keep fighting for our rights… despite the MOCK ROLL CALL I hear will go down.
I feel that I have restored my ENERGY AND READY TO FIGHT the OBAMANATION as possible POTUS.

That’s a good point. I just felt since alot of our letters have been negative and angry, often toward the delegate, that it might be better to change our tone and focus on Clinton and why she is the most electable and push them to consider voting for her. But I haven’t known delegates, I just did this based on the info I have been hearing on blograido shows, etc.
I also wanted to remind people to keep up with the letters as we were told by a delegate awhile back.

Yesterday was highly emotional for all of us, some words were misinterpreted and rubbed some PUMAS the wrong way. Sometimes when we type our thoughts, we don’t think how others interpret what we say due to the fact our emotion overpowers rational thinking. I would advice everyone, when you feel so overwhelmed with current events we PUMAS are facing, please step back away from your PC, gather your thoughts, then come back and post your comment.
A day or so ago, I had to step back, it was getting to me to the point I can’t see straight, I’ve made so many post but deleted them before I press the “submit” button. My thoughts and feelings had to come second, I have to think all of you, how my words would come across and interpreted by readers. We have to learn to be TACTFUL when we post something in the blog. We MUST police ourselves, watch our Ps and Qs. We must not expect Murphy to be watching us all the time, we’re ALL adults.
ALL EYES are on US right now, that includes the media; PLEASE BE CAREFUL what you post, we don’t want to be misinterpreted. We embrace everyone in this organization, their political affiliation has no relevance; our movement, our objective is bigger than DNC, Hillary, Democratic Party, NObama combined. We’re ALL fighting for survival of our emocratic Process, we’re fighting for DEMOCRACY. How can WE, as a NATION be a beacon of Democracy when we’re not practicing what we preach? Hillary, unintentionally OPENED UP OUR EYES how corrupt is the Democratic Party; we all bravely stand up and speak out, be PROUD of yourself, you’ve done something TOTALLY UNPRECEDENTED.
As I’ve said before, this is just a dress rehearsal, the biggest fight for all of us is still ahead; brace yourself, its gonna be a rough ride. Set aside your ego or pride, FOCUS your mind in our ultimate goal – that is to cleanup the Democratic Party; it can ONLY be done if all of us ACT AS A COHESIVE UNIT. RE: CENSORSHIP ON THE BLOG
Since the first time I posted here, I’ve struggled with this issue. I’ve found posts, and not entirely infrequently, that I thought were really offensive. Most times when I’ve commented, I’ve been vilified for it, accused of being “pc” or “too sensitive”. Ocassionally someone has supported me after the fact, but it would have meant so much more if they had spoken out as well, instead of lurking and silently cheering me on.
I’ve also witnessed defense of offensive posts with excuses such as the poster writing in haste, without thinking, etc. However, I usually feel this is besides the point. I assume our words reflect our inner values and without a strain of racism, sexism, or whatever ism it may be, the words would likely not follow, not matter how tired or rushed one may be when typing.
So, it has left me, and it seems others as well, having to decide whether to participate or not. For anyone who’s ever walking into a room and heard someone make a horrible comment about women, gays, blacks, etc. you know the feeling. We’ve probably all experienced it at some point during our lives, if not countless times. When it happens, I cringe. I feel uncomfortable. I wonder, is this a group I want to be a part of? And, by staying silent, do I become like the person who made the comment? And, by staying and not walking away, do I silently condone such attitudes?
On this blog, in speaking for myself, it would feel so much better if when offensive remarks appeared, if bloggers would speak out if they take offense, instead of lurking. Can you imagine if the next time you were in a group and someone said something disrespectful about any group, there were a chorus of voices who spoke out against it? You wouldn’t need to feel alone or feel like you had to summon up some bravery to be a lone voice that might then be ostracized.
I agree that Murphy is the ultimate arbiter of what is allowed and what is not. But, in the mean time, each of us also has our own voice to speak out when we feel something is offensive.
I remain a part of this blog with misgivings at times, struggling with what it means to be a part of something that appears to tolerate a certain degree of discourse that falls below what feels comfortable for me, along with what is also at times other blogger’s support of the person who makes such remarks. I struggle with what that says about me. I struggle with feeling uncomfortable. And as of this writing, I have no clear answer for myself.
I can attest to the fact that I have had numerous friends who did not join this pac because when they visited the blog they found the level of discourse to be one that had a threshold of tolerance that was too high for what they would be comfortable with. And that is regretable. It makes me wonder how many others out there who would be great additions to this pac do not participate for the same reason. No way of knowing, of course.
I have heard the argument made more than once on this blog about the small percentage of offensive remarks with respect to the number of posts. And that data is impressive, on the one hand. On the other hand, referring back to the feeling of being in a group and hearing an off color remark made, I know that once that occurs and appears to be tolerated, it speaks volumes. So, I also feel that even one comment made once that is left to stand, without challenge, and perhaps even with defense and excuses, is as meaningful and powerful as the data. This is, after all, very central to what we’re railing against with the DNC.
And now as I prepare to hit the “submit” button, I am anticipating a lot of negative remarks, be they posted or not. But I’m posting this anyway because it feels like one of the most important issues that I could possibly feel warranted exression.

Just read The Denver Group, Marc Rubin’s latest words:
“…will be in Denver for the week of the convention and while I don’t know if I will be posting while there, I’m sure there will be a few things to say when I get back. As for now, the reality has to be considered that this part of the process may be over. It’s hard to say for sure and anything can happen but super delegates now would have to take into consideration what the ramifications would be of choosing a candidate different from that which both the media and the DNC has been trying to sell for months. The naming of Biden is obviously a political move designed to try and head off any defections of super delegates to Clinton. It may work. It might no longer be a matter of who is the best candidate or more electable, but how many would be willing to undo the sense of inevitability that’s been created.
Yes it would be short sighted. But that has not been in short supply during the entire process. Anything can still happen. There will obviously be protests especially involving the way the DNC handled everything.But at this point it would have to be considered an enormous upset if Clinton were to pull out the nomination because it will require super delegates to think for themselves. I am one of those people that sometimes just lurks and does not join in the conversation because I deem it to be out of bounds (as far as the racial comments that are made or other sensitive topics-sometimes regarding religion). There have been times when I spoke out on the blog or wrote the moderators about these comments. I can’t quite understand how intelligent people don’t take the time to really think about what they say before they write it. The “heat of the moment” excuse has also run its course. I would suggest that before you say anything regarding race or other highly volatile topics that you run your ideas by others (face to face and not online) and that you see what they have to say. If after you tell them your comment they just stare at you- that means that what you just said is inappropriate.
Anna7000, as a person of color the reason that I took the time to point out that a statement was not right or even racist, sexist, or anti a certain religion, etc. and didn’t opt out of the group is because I thought these people made these comments because they didn’t know any better. We are big boys and girls now. We are veterans here on PUMA Pac as we have been having discussions for several months now. No more excuses. We need to watch what we say and if we see something that might be offensive to certain people on the blog we need to speak out about it.

Hundred of people were injured the police used tear gas and other “gestapo” like tactics. It was a free for all. It obviously took the focus off the Democratic convention.
The memory of that still exists among Democrats and whatever city is hosting the convention, which is probably why there is such a police presence in Denver this year.

My 2 cents on the uproar over a comment posted yesterday which I observed play out. The comment was posted by one of our pumas about BO and included offensive name calling. When someone objected to the comment, other pumas jumped into defend the comment and said it was in response to the comments Trish was posting from the Obama site. The comments Trish was posting were not offensive, mostly despair over the pick of Biden for VP. Trish did nothing wrong. Murphy came on later in the day and deleted the comment. End of story, but it did remain on the blog for several hours and that worried several of our members.
Wow, a lot of PUMA energy the last couple of days. Just hope all this pays off in Denver. Seems we are quickly growing!

I got a call from a friend that has blogged here and told me to turn on C-Span to see the recap of yesterday’s Democratic Party Rules Committee:
They have formed a “new committee” called “The Democratic Change Commssion” that WILL NOT become effective until January 1, 2010.
Although this new committee will address all of the voter disenfranchisement issues of the 2008 Primaries -it will have no affect on this year’s primary.
So… they voted in support of all of the rules that CAUSED THIS MESS we are now in, and in the very next Motion voted on creating a commission that will change the potential for ‘future disenfranchisement and fraud’ that they have voted unanimously in favor of for this year (Obama’s selection)!
So, it looks like Obama and his DNC stalwarts have no fear of using their corrupt tactics through 2010!

But there was also a lot of social unrest in the 60′s because in parts of this country AAs were still second and third class citizens, women were too. The NWO is very real. It’s a concept that began long ago and it’s proponments are always members of a certain organization with roots dating way back. They understand that most people will not go along with the idea and so they need to develop it incrementally.
One of the really big steps was when Harry Truman signed the United Nations Charter.
If anyone cares to really research that, they will learn that, at that time, this country ceased to be the United States of america and, in reality and for all practical purposes, became the United States of the United Nations.
At the time the UN was formed, a UN ‘Security Council’ was formed. And it was decided that the military arm of the Security Council would always be a Russian General.
Many people say this is preposterous, but Gen. Douglas MacArthur figured it out. He couldn’t understand why he was defeated several times in Korea, with extremely high casualty rates.
He had always devised very well thought out battle plans.
But, under the UN charter and Security Council rules, all US battle plans have to be submitted to the Pentagon for approval, and from there to the Un chain of command. Once he realized this, he swore his closest generals (old West Point buds) to secrecy and did NOT submit his plans for the battle of Inchon, which as we all know was the turning point of the Korean War. Also the reaso he was summoned posthaste to Washington DC where he was summarily FIRED!
In order for the MWO to develop certain coalescing things need to happen, one of which is the world’s religious dilemna,(Christian, Jew, Islam) and alos political ideologies.
Another, is that the people, everywhere, have to become so frightened that they BEG for martial law. As in ” Please!!! We will do anything you say, but give us LAW AND ORDER)

Howard Dean was interviewed today at the College Democrats of America Convention. He revealed the strategy and tactics they used about getting new voters that also worked with Obama’s campaign:

719 pink puma – Things seem worse today but they really aren’t. There was violence in the streets of many major cities in the sixties, periodically riots would erupt. What we see on TV in Iraq happened in a lot of major American cities. I was in college when students were taking college presidents hostage and blowing up buildings in protest. I had a friend who lived in the building next to the one the WEatherman accidnetally blew up!
Then there was the gas crisis of 1973 which ruined the ecomony that didn’t recover until well into the eighties. It was hard to start your adult life in such circumstances. Everyone I knew that was my age had a lot trouble getting jobs.
Viet Nam weighed heavily on us – and the draft didn’t give anyone a choice; if your number was up, you had to go or go to jail.
One thing you learn when you live long enough is that life is cyclical. Things go up, things go down, things go up again. You just have to hunker down and get through the down times and then try to get your life together during the uptimes.

See? Why are we never given a straight up “this is what is going to happen”.
AlSO: It was revealed that the only way to get the Voter Fraud issue addressed is through the FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION (FEC) And the Federal Department of Justice. (DOJ)
Also, any complaints have to be followed up consistently so that they do not get buried or ignored.
The Democratic Party has no ‘ability, rules or processes to address voter fraud within their own party’.
It is a Federal issue and, even then, it is difficult because they are “party issues” and state laws should be governing “Primaries”.
They the FEC and the DOJ really only oversee the General Election.
But, I believe from what we have seen is that there are other acts that occurred that could be considered willfull and intentional acts “to defraud voters” thus “criminal”.
It is a run-a-round situation between the parties and our government until enough complaints and charges are filed and pursued through the FEC and DOJ which make it too difficult to ignore.

What I’m loving is that during just about every commentary about this convention, Hillary is the biggest topic of discussion. She outshines BO everytime!
KENDALBLUE: I ran into two women with Hillary shirts on. One is a delegate from Florida. Bad news is that what she got out of the delegate phone call is that what is going to happen on roll call is the states where Hillary has huge margins will all pass so Obama can get his win; then they will go back and let the other states vote..that’s why they are saying “symbolic.” Good news is that she heard 293 superdelegates were at this point switching to Hillary.

I have been reading lots of opinions regarding posts. First, I feel your truth is all you have to be concerned with. We are a large group of men and woman of all ages and races and religions. It is obvious we do not denegrate anyone. I think we all have to do what feels right for us. That is what the world is responding to. For those who lurk and feel we are too much of anything to join, so be it. They are still our friends. We are here to make sure MO/OB never ever walk into our countries home! The ONC would love to divide and conquer us. When I go to sleep as night, I see all of us connected in spirit, that is a chain that will not be broken.

Sen. Barack Obama: man of the people, champion of the working man. Well, not only are the press outlets feeling the financial pain of having to set up for two different locations, but the real working folks will be stiffed because Sen. Obama wants to see if he can fill Invesco Field to accept the nomination. I’m sure it’s not directly his doing, but he could have made a statement to the working folk of the state of Colorado by changing his plans after realizing that the authorities are going to close Interstate 25, thereby stifling transportation through Denver. His arrogant Invesco plans should serve as a beacon to all of us in the Centennial State as to how much he’ll be taking into account the well-being of the citizenry of our country as the supreme governor of the land.

A group of PUMAs worked on The Names signs this morning at headquarters, and are walking down to Cheesman Park with them.
The serene Murphy is making us all proud. How she handles all the details of this organization is still beyond my imagination.
Consider this:
PUMA PAC is paying for everything PUMA that is taking place here, from the purchase of snacks, balloons, the stipends that assisted PUMAs in getting to Denver, the the production of the documentary. “Audacity of Democracy”, car rentals, and all space rentals…
and their all in the name of PUMA PAC for use by all.
A lot to handle… yet, Murphy handles it all with grace and warmth.
I must mention the only PUMA blog that has consistently supported PUMA PAC both energenically and financially. BIG SHOUT OUT to Rivedaughter and her The Confluence blog, and the bloggers and commenters there! We are all grateful to them.

Hey SunnyPa, I’m from Pittsburgh too, have had a few undecided voters around here(how is that possible???) make comments about John McCain’s houses.
I ask them if they voted for Kerry, and when they say yes, I ask them how many houses Teresa Heinz Kerry has. Seems to work.

Although I sometimes slip myself, there’s one principle I use to guide me when deciding what is or isn’t appropriate for me to post.
I want my messages to reflect the greatness that Hillary inspires in us. The wisdom. The compassion. The dedication to a cause greater than ourselves. And so forth.
I’ve read enough posts from Obama supporters to see the hate and ugliness he inspires in them. Their tone is part of the reason I don’t like Obama as a candidate.
If Obama’s supporters can make me feel that way about him, I have to stop and think about how what I write reflects on Hillary.
We can’t win over Obama supporters by posting things with a negative tone. We must do so by remaining positive and inspiring, even as we fight this fight.
That’s the philosophy that works for me when I’m posting to the blog. That, plus I mostly ignore the negative stuff so I don’t get drawn into it myself.

I so agree with you, and also try very hard to be cautious in the words I use as a supporter of Hillary Clinton. Even when speaking of McCain, I have tried to encourage people to stop using McSame and other petty references to indicate their disdain. It reflects back on us.
On another note, there is so much clique-style activity on the PUMA sites that they are diminishing their own numbers. I’ve been a registered PUMA since the day the site opened up to registration. My loyalty to Senator Clinton is exceeded, however, by my need to protest severely the lack of democracy displayed by the democratic party this election cycle.
It is really difficult to find a blog site where the commenters are welcoming to new members. If anyone knows of some that actually enjoy new voices that share the need to protest the DNC this election, and don’t have the insecurity of the clique sites, I’d sure love to hear about them.

Trish: My point is that the DP knew what it was doing and that it would be hard to stop them, on any level.
They are even covering their butts with this “New Commission” so that now, no matter what happens – they can plead that they are “addressing the caucus and primary problems”.
The states with state laws thatjbjd is working to pursue on delegates following those state laws is also the best hope of pursuing the voter fraud issues, I imagine.
We may have had a better chance of charging Obama and the DNC, and making it stick AFTER THE DELEGATES VOTED to prove fraud through threats and intimidation of delgates – who must represent the voters in those states by law.
We certainly had the proof that they were attempting it, but without delegates voting against the laws of their states – what law have been broken or damage to voters has occurred?
Hopefully, delegates will be angry enough to not back down under any circumstance and see what the party was trying to do – even at the risk of having delegates break their own state laws!

Could not agree more, Anna7000. You nailed it for many of us. Thank you. It’s about personal responsibility Pumas. Something that seems to be lacking more and more every day in our society. To many of us the condoners’ simple allowing or making excuses, are often more troubling then the condonees’ (is that even a word?) original offense. Just my opinion and observation.
Now with that said, I for one sure hope we can just bury this issue toot sweet and move on to the more important tasks at hand and ahead of us.
