The incidences with confused delegates is just exactly what happened at our county convention in April. It was a mess. They had O delegates for Hillary and HIllary delegates for O. Sounds like the same thing is happening in Denver.

I apologize for any nastiness; it was not intended. I voted for Hillary here in the Texas primary but I just feel it’s most important to have a Democrat in the White House. If the DNC has done wrong (and I’ll certainly admit I’m not up on what’s been going on in this regard) then they should not only be called on it but ousted if not charged with a crime. But I still think asking people to vote for McCain rather than the zfr,pvtsyov candidate (whoever that candidate is and however they got there)
really is cutting off your nose to spite your face. We can’t stand 4 more years of these people and McCain isn’t really a maverick or a moderate. I’ve heard from a PUMA support who felt Obama is too liberal and thought we needed a more centrist candidate. That isn’t my idea of the Democratic party. More like Paul Wellstone is how I’d like to see them. But make your charges at the convention and back them up. If there’s enough publicity that could get out (if that’s possible these days) there’s still a chance Hillary could be the candidate. I’ll vote for that candidate whoever they are.

I have not heard from Murphy or Maryland but I need one of them to call me. And I need the rest of you to stand by. I have been swamped all day, interacting with people interacting with delegates. Just as I suspected, no one, including the delegates, knew about these binding vote states until after the delegate call on Tuesday. And at least 1 AG is unhappy with BO coercion of his state delegates.
I am going to ask all of you to help me with a prowl – and until I hear from the 3 M’s I have no authority to do this except that, as it turns out, I know what I am doing…
Answer my questions ASAP. As one of you said once, I have something up my sleeve; and it might be the only way to save the nomination from a party that is abusing the privilege of having its candidate circumvent the process required of less established parties to get on these state ballots.
1. Name the states chronicled in the tape on caucus fraud.
2. Is this the only documentation of such fraud?
3. Where is the tape? What is being done with this?
We will discuss what happened last night, at a later time. And we will discuss plans for what will happen after the convention, if BO gets the nomination.

I agree with what you said… It is so unfortunate, the societal pressures/expectations put on women… But I also think, even if Hillary doesn’t go much beyond what she has accomplished so far, that she has made a hell of a lot of “cracks on the glass ceiling”…
I think it’s important to see our movement as something bigger than whatever happens at the convention… And meanwhile, we do have to brace ourselves for the likely *undesired* outcome at the convention, which the Party has sort of pre-designed!
I do believe that, if she’s not the nominee this time, that she will run again… and she will have the best chance for that IF BO is defeated in November!

I will never vote for the McCarthy-like NObama, who also reminds me in the most negative aspects of Richard M. Nixon (without Nixon’s saving grace of public service — Nixon at least cared somewhat about the US of A, while NObama only cares about NObama).
The honest delegates and supers need to wake up and nominate Sen. Clinton. I sincerely hope this is still possible. NObama — he can go back to his Senate seat. Please!
The methods and tactics being applied by the Obama campaign and the DNC here at the convention are no different in any way than the methods and tactics used since January, 2008, those that have gotten this thief, fraud, unqualiied radical socialist and usurper exactly to where he is now: the candidacy for the Presidency of my country, your country. This might be stretching it since people are extremely busy at the convention, but would any of those delegates be willing to tell us about what is happening on the blog? They wouldn’t have to use their real names. The media may not be interested in what the BO camp is doing, but we are and those of us who aren’t in Denver can use our time this week to write media outlets about what is happening.

What the %$#&! If they do not follow through with this roll call now, they will likely have more trouble then they could possibly imagine! More trouble then just having a ‘symbolic’ roll call by far. This is getting more and more rediculous with every passing moment. These people need to stop jerking the voters’ chains here. This is what I heard from an HC district delegate going to Denver. She didn’t think HC would release her delegates or could make them vote for BO. In the event HC releases her delegates, HC’s people can still continue to vote for HC until the bitter end. They don’t ever have to vote for BO. They can just vote “present” if HC totally asks to be taken out. That’s what this person said. -Lara08

“The Hillary-Boating of Cristi Adkins”
Cristi Adkins is mad as hell at Barack Obama, and she isn’t going to take it — his narcissistic, thuggish, dishonest campaign — anymore.
Cristi is one of the most effective “Hillary Supporters”, a woman who’s working 14-hour-days to ensure the defeat on Nov. 4 of the man she calls “Hussein.” She calls him that because she believes — correctly — that he has only a tangential connection to American values. His history demonstrates that he’s much more at home in Kenya than in mainstream America, which is too “bitter” for his rarified tastes.
Obama and his sycophants despise what Cristi, a co-founder of Clintons4McCain and NobamaMission, is doing, and they’ve responded by initiating a campaign of hatred and innuendo against her.
Cristi is a mom (two teenagers and a three-year-old), a wife, a veteran (former MP), and a nurse. The father of her two teenagers just came home from a combat tour in Afghanistan. In short, she’s the kind of American with whom Obama and his fellow elitists have nothing in common.
Why does she bug Obams so much? Mainly because she’s frequent guest on shows hosted by people by Neil Cavuto, Sean Hannity, Jim Bohannon. She’s even been on the “Daily Show.” Right now, she’s headed to Denver to “Just Say No Deal” to Barack H. Obama. She’s a force in contemporary politics.
For that reason, she’s been the target of absurd attacks by bloggers who serve as cheerleaders for BHO. Many of the people reading this blog. Were you aware that Obama PAYS his bloggers? Most of them get roughly $7 an hour, and some apparently receive much more. That would come as news to people who visit their sites and believe they’re getting something approximating “straight talk.” In fact, those bloggers are presenting all the “news” that fits with the Obama agenda.
In our own NoBama Mission Bloggers, a brainchild of Cristi Adkins and others in the NoBama Mission effort, we will have 200 blogs by the end of this day. How many of them are paid by anyone? A grand total of zero. They are all volunteers — just like me, just like Cristi, just like the other tens of thousand of people who center their lives around the NoBama effort.
One thing Cristi is asked is why she works with non-Democrats. Well, DUH! She founded Clintons4McCain. She didn’t found Clintons4Nobody, or Clintons4theheckuvait. If you’re against Obama with us, you’re among friends.
The NoBama effort is perhaps the most diverse coalition in American history. It consists of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and even a stray Libertarian or two. In that effort, there are liberals, moderates, and conservatives. There are no far-left crazies or America-haters, unlike Obama’s own scary group.
What binds our people of so many different views together is a commitment to the following statement: “Barack Obama is too inexperienced, too unqualified, too untrustworthy, and too dangerous to be POTUS.” Anyone who shares that view is welcome in our coalition.
The hate campaign by Obama, his staffers, and his bought-and-paid for bloggers against Cristi is similar to the effort they waged against Hillary Clinton. Of course, she has been one of the more liberal members of the Clinton Administration and the U.S. Senate. Many Black members of Congress backed her bid for the presidency. Those who did so are now being punished by Obama at the Democratic National Convention. Charlie Rangel, one of the most important members of the House and a Clinton backer, has NOT been invited to speak.
For her efforts on behalf of civil rights and liberal causes, Hillary Clinton was branded by Obama and his surrogates as a warmonger, a liar, and a racist. Geraldine Ferraro, also a long-time proponent of civil rights, was also labeled a racist, as was President Bill Clinton.
Given this background by Obama and his minions, it’s no surprise that Cristi Adkins is under attack. Of course, she isn’t being defamed for her statements about Obama, all of which are factual. Instead, they’re trying to bleed her to death with a thousand pinpricks. She’s accused of saying this (maybe) once, or of knowing this person or someone else, or of advocating this-or-that.
Does Cristi head right to the front-lines, where the chances of taking political shrapnel are the greatest? If you’ve ever seen her in action, you know she does. Also, she “pushs the envelope.” She takes after “Hussein” in creative, imaginative ways. Most of these efforts work, and some don’t, which is par for the course with risk-takers.
The main “charge” against Cristi is that she once was in a business venture that didn’t work out. Big deal. There are probably 150 million Americans, including this one, who are in the same boat.
In fact, Cristi — my friend and political ally — is one of the single most effective spokeswomen in America against Obama. As long as that remains the case — and it will through November 4 — Obama and his meanspirited, robotic followers will try to destroy her. In other words, they will try to “Hillary-boat” her, just as they did the junior Senator from New York.
I have news for the man Cristi calls “Hussein.” You will not succeed. You will not win this election. You are up against people who will not rest until John McCain send you back to the Chicago political machine that spawned you.
What can the readers of this piece do in support of Cristi Adkins, American? You can go to Clintons4McCain and NoBama Mission and sign up as members of those organizations. Many thousands of people have already done. Please do it for Cristi — and do it for America. Now.

az hill, the obligation of the delegates is not to HRC but to the voters whose votes for HRC resulted in the delegate allocation set up by the DNC. However, under some state laws, delegates must cast their vote at the convention for the candidate to whom they are pledged, until that candidate releases them. Then, they may, by law, vote for someone else.
Of course, under DNC ‘rules,’ delegated only need to use their “good conscience.”

Regarding the Democratic National Convention, the media has often reinforced the DNC’s call for unity, which has not infrequently pinned this responsibility on Senator Clinton. However, I would like to remind you that it is not Senator Clinton’s responsibility to unite the Democratic party. Instead, the primary responsibility lies with the presumptive nominee, Senator Obama. In fact, it is he who has proclaimed a great desire and commitment to unify the party. As of this writing, he appears unable to fulfill that promise.
Senator Clinton has gone above and beyond, doing her part. Some might say she has done far more than what anyone could reasonably expect from a candidate who won the popular vote and who won more primaries than anyone in history.
At this point in the election timeline, many Democratic candidates in prior years who had far fewer votes than Senator Clinton were still creating rancor and division within the party. Senator Clinton, however, has exemplified grace under pressure along with an enormous amount of humility, given her extraordinary achievements. By any matter of means, she could just as easily be the Democratic nominee were it not for pressure from the DNC, media bias and voter fraud in caucus states.
It would be refreshing if the press, starting with your news organization, would begin pointing some of this out. A great starting point would be, as noted in my opening paragraph, to place the burden of responsibility of uniting the party where it appropriately lies, with Senator Obama.

PUMAs still on the prowl
El Paso Clinton delegate Aaron Paz had been thinking he would throw in the towel on his petition to force a Democratic National Convention vote on Hillary Rodham Clinton for vice president.
Paz late last week said he was getting a lot of positive support for the petition from Clinton delegates. Then, after presidential candidate Barack Obama named Joe Biden as his running mate, Paz got a call from Clinton’s campaign.
“It really hit me hard when the campaign called and said she didn’t want me to do it,” Paz said.
So he sent out an email saying he was going to suspend his petition drive. But today the response, he said, was huge.
“People said, ‘If you’re not going to do it, we’re going to do it,’” Paz said.
Paz had been planning to meet with other Clinton supporters tonight to plot strategy on the petition drive, but he said now they are going to meet to discuss whether they should go forward. And if they decide to, then they’ll work on strategy.
“They (the Clinton campaign) said ‘No’ but then they had to say ‘No,’” Paz said. “But they also said, ‘We can’t stop you if you want to do this.”
The never give-up Clinton supporters are known as PUMAs, an acronym for Party Unity My —.

Biased media, campaign killer ads, Brazile, Sharpton, Clyburn, etc. need to take some of this heat.
Hillary can not help she is the most qualified candidate in this election.

I have to add that when I spoke to some of HC’s district delegates they were even more committed to Hillary than I was (if that’s possible). They were ready to fight for her. They went through the whole county/state convention process (which was a mess) and they were very upset about how they were treated. In addition, they were totally kept out of the platform meetings by BO’s people. They were ready to fight on for Hillary. I was glad to see that.

it seems to me that these stories need to get out … but ideally from the people experiencing this.
If a bunch of them spoke together at a press conference, it wouldn’t come down so hard on any one of them. and would get LOTS of press coverage.

We can only hope that the pledged delegates both do what they are legally bound to do (at least on the first ballot) and that if Clinton urges her delegates to vote for BO, that they will hold steady. How it will play out remains to be seen. But, for political reasons, she’s probably making sure she’s checking off all the boxes that she can check off shoud the DNC, the press, etc try to come back to bite her. She’ll have a solid defense. Sad to think it comes down to that, however.
Eagerly awaiting to see how this all plays out. It would be truly inspiring to see all of her pledged delegates hold firm, irrespective of what she may say and irrespective of party pressure. What a statement that would make. I think someone said weeks ago, how great it would be to see them vote, then walk off the floor. God, would I love to see that! It would be a powerful statement of what a sham this entire thing has become.

I was not voting if Hillary wasn’t the candidate, but the way things are coming out, I decided to vote for McCain.

I have my mother in law tonight so can’t spend time on puter. I was reading LA times and section on Dem Convention talks about Hillary delegates. David Serrano Sewell from San Fran is for HIllary and does not count himself as an Obama “true Believer”. Karen Skelton a Sacramento Attorney said she worked in White House and supported Hillary but “she released us”. She likened holdouts to Democrats who voted for third party candidate Ralph Nader in 2000 instead of Al Gore, thus getting George W. Bush win. I am typing way to fast as I have to get back to MIL but if anyone has access to LA TImes Sunday edition it is on pg A23.

I think alot of people know what is going on and are waiting for a chance to act. All the Clinton Delegates need to know is that there are others who will so stand. We need to communicate and encourage. Keep emailing, faxing posting. Tell, tell, tell and say it again.
When I went to that Clinton rally for BO here in Florida and held up my Clinton for President and my PUMA banner, I had the distinct feeling that I was expressing what alot of people there were feeling.
They were very nice about telling me that signs were not allowed. And the reporters I talked to where so nice and interested that I sent them to Will and Murphy.

Biden, Obama at odds over lobbyist donations

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama has made a pledge not to accept money from lobbyists, but his running mate – Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. – has collected over $200,000 from registered lobbyists in this year alone, according to a search of Senate lobbying records.
Mr. Biden’s unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign and his still-pending race to be re-elected to the U.S. Senate in Delaware, according to the records, collected another $86,000 from lobbyists this year. The senator’s political action committee, Unite Our States, also received $120,500 from lobbyists this year, the records show.
“Obama has been outspoken about contributions from lobbyists, vowing not to accept any contributions from them. Biden doesn’t seem to have quite the same view,” the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP), a Washington-based political watchdog group, said Saturday.
The lobbying industry has given Mr. Biden at least $344,400 since 1997, according to the group’s calculation, making lobbyists his 10th largest contributing industry. Lawyers and law firms are his No. 1 donors.
Mr. Obama has banned any donations from lobbyists during his campaign. The Democratic National Committee took up the ban as well when the Illinois lawmaker became the presumptive nominee.
“I have done more than any other candidate in this race to take on lobbyists – and won,” Mr. Obama said in a November speech in Iowa. “They have not funded my campaign, they will not run my White House, and they will not drown out the voices of the American people when I am president.”
But Seth Wimer, executive director of the Delaware Republican Party, described the selection of Mr. Biden as a “contradiction with what Obama’s been talking about all along.
“Obama has been using the line about change in Washington and changing the people in Washington,” he said. The Biden selection “highlights Obama’s lack of experience by picking Joe Biden with a 30-plus-year history in Washington.”
The campaign of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain also noted Mr. Biden’s lobby ties and their incongruity with Mr. Obama’s stance.
“Barack Obama decries Washington insiders and detests lobbyists, but Joe Biden is the model Washington insider,” McCain spokesman Ben Porritt said.
The Obama campaign did not return a request for comment Saturday.
CRP said that less than 1 percent of Mr. Biden’s campaign cash came from political action committees, which is nearly in line with Mr. Obama’s decision not to accept any PAC money in an effort to limit the influence of special-interest money in politics.
According to federal election records, Mr. Biden raised $11.3 million for his 2008 presidential campaign, far short of the $20 million he originally said he would need to compete in the early primary states.
The Delaware senator, who also ran for president in 1988, dropped out of the 2008 race in early January after winning less than 1 percent in the Iowa caucuses and lagging far behind the fundraising totals of Mr. Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, New York Democrat.
In addition to lawyers and law firms, the industries that have given the most to Mr. Biden during his career include real estate firms and executives at $1.3 million and retirees, who have contributed $1 million.
The CRP said Mr. Biden is among the top 10 collectors of money from lawyers and law firms since the 1990 election cycle. The watchdog group also ranks him among the top 20 in contributions from the real estate industry in the same period.
His largest contributor since 1990, the group said, has been credit card giant MBNA Corp., which, despite being acquired by Bank of America a few years ago, remains atop the list of Mr. Biden’s major contributors at more than $214,000. MBNA officials also have made significant direct contributions to Mr. Biden.
As an industry, the CRP said finance and credit companies have contributed nearly $300,000 to Mr. Biden in his career, making them his 12th most generous industry.
Mr. Obama has vowed to target credit card companies as president, setting up a five-star rating system so consumers know the risk involved with various credit cards and establishing a consumer bill of rights to guard against unfair practices.

#528 ElyLos Angeles I live in Washington State and we don’t have to declare a party affiliation; we just vote how we want. We even mix and match. That is, we can vote for the person we feel is best rather than sticking to one party. Some Pumas have mentioned getting a voter registration application. But some states have time frames on changing before an election. I’ll go do some looking around and see what I can find for CA (I’m assuming you are in CA).

The only way to get onto the general election ballot for POTUS now is to be the major party candidate nominated at the party’s nominating convention. If the DNC had wanted HRC to be on the nominating ballot, following DNC rules, Chairman Dean could have entered her into nomination; and she would not have had to rely on grass roots supporters to gather 300 delegate signatures. Remember, the Democratic Party is a private club organized to choose the candidates it wants to put onto the states’ ballots. As such, they can change their rules at any time to deny her a roll call vote. And that will keep her off the state ballots for the general election.
Is it too late for Obama to change his mind about his VP pick? I hope so, cuz Biden totally contradicts everything Obama claims to stand for.

The moves answer some questions that lingered ahead of the convention, which starts Monday in Denver.
Clinton, who suspended her presidential campaign in June after Obama secured enough delegates to win the party’s nomination, will meet with her delegates at a reception in Denver on Wednesday afternoon — before that evening’s delegate vote on the nominee, spokesman Philippe Reines said.
“[The reception is] an opportunity for Sen. Clinton to see her delegates — many for the first time since the primaries ended — thank them for their hard work and support and most importantly, to encourage them to support and work for Sen. Obama as strongly as she has, in order to elect him in November,” Reines said.
Because Clinton suspended her campaign instead of dropping out, she kept the pledged delegates she earned in the primaries and caucuses. Earlier this month, Obama’s campaign said it agreed to put Clinton’s name in nomination at the convention “in recognition of the historic race she ran and the fact that she was the first woman to compete in all of our nation’s primary contests.” Watch a preview of the convention Video
Clinton already has urged the 18 million people who voted for her in the primaries to get behind Obama.
Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee unanimously voted to end sanctions against Florida and Michigan.
The party initially stripped Florida and Michigan of their delegates for holding presidential primaries earlier than the party had wanted. However, in late May, the DNC’s rules and bylaws committee voted to reinstate the delegates but give them each a half-vote.
Sunday’s decision gives the delegates a full vote at the convention.
Ending the sanctions had been a goal of Clinton, who won Florida and Michigan in her unsuccessful bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Obama endorsed lifting the sanctions after Clinton’s withdrawal from the race.
Between Monday’s convention opening and Thursday night’s acceptance speech by Obama at Denver’s Invesco Field, delegates are expected to ratify his nomination and that of his vice presidential pick, Sen. Joseph Biden, another former primary rival.
Obama faces Republican Sen. John McCain in November in the contest for the presidency. McCain’s campaign has poked at the old Obama-Clinton splits with a campaign ad claiming Clinton was passed over for the No. 2 spot because she was too honest about Obama’s perceived weaknesses.
“The truth hurt, and Obama didn’t like it,” McCain’s ad says.
But Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois, an Obama supporter, told CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday: “This campaign is not about Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.”
“His campaign is about George Bush and four more years of George Bush under John McCain,” Jackson said. “That message is going to echo clearly from this platform.”
Campaigning in Wisconsin on his way to Denver, Obama hammered at McCain on the economy and on McCain’s perceived strong suit, national security.
Obama told supporters at a barbecue in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, “The Republican track record on national security has not been particularly good.”
“My job in this campaign is to explain that talking tough and acting dumb is not a way to keep you safe and secure,” he said. “We need somebody who talks tough, who’s going to act smart and be tough that’s how we’re going to look after the safety of the American people.”

But Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, viewed as a potential McCain running mate, said Obama’s decision to pick Biden — the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee — was an acknowledgment that Obama lacked to national security chops to be president.
“I don’t think he’s ready to be president. And when you’re commander-in-chief, you shouldn’t be having to select a mentor to help you with that role,” Pawlenty told CNN’s “Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer.”
You know PUMAs….I think we may be forgetting something. Senator Obama is just a Senator from Illinois who wants to be president. He’s getting all the heat from this, but…..there’s bigger people behind Senator Obama than Senator Obama. He’s just the instrument in the well devised, thought-out plan to prevent Senator Clinton from becoming President. So Senator Clinton is just up against Obama, she’s up against the people who put Obama where he is. She’s up against the people who are locking her out of the White House. It was Kennedy who initially hatched all of this.
We have to understand the nature of all of this game playing. It is like the dance of death with a cobra. One slip up, and the party hierarchy would be all over Hillary for splitting the party. That is how it goes: They make the mess and use her as a scapegoat.
The delegates surely know that the decision is theirs: They can do what is right and fight for the Woman Who Will SAVE this Country, or secumb to the overwhelming pressure to do the wrong thing. If they ALL do what is right on the first ballot, they can prevail.
At this point, Hillary cannot openly encourage them. The party leadership has written her script, and she must follow it. BUT IF the delegates do this on their own, she becomes the selection rather than Obama. At this point she would be DRAFTED by the delegates. A situation like that is hard to deny, even by rotten party leaders.

I apologize for any nastiness; it was not intended. I voted for Hillary here in the Texas primary but I just feel it’s most important to have a Democrat in the White House. If the DNC has done wrong (and I’ll certainly admit I’m not up on what’s been going on in this regard) then they should not only be called on it but ousted if not charged with a crime. But I still think asking people to vote for McCain rather than the zfr,pvtsyov candidate (whoever that candidate is and however they got there)
really is cutting off your nose to spite your face. We can’t stand 4 more years of these people and McCain isn’t really a maverick or a moderate. I’ve heard from a PUMA support who felt Obama is too liberal and thought we needed a more centrist candidate. That isn’t my idea of the Democratic party. More like Paul Wellstone is how I’d like to see them. But make your charges at the convention and back them up. If there’s enough publicity that could get out (if that’s possible these days) there’s still a chance Hillary could be the candidate. I’ll vote for that candidate whoever they are.

I will vote for the person who has the most qualifications, the most accomplishments, and the most experience to fill the most important job in the world. To support someone of lesser qualities is SAME ‘OL POLITICS.
What is important is who is going to lead this country in the right direction. There is no time for On the Job Training for BHO. There is no time for amassed middle management and mentors to aid BHO in decision making. He criticized Bill and Hillary for old style politics and the need for change. Where does Biden fit in for “THIS CHANGE”?
I don’t trust Obama. His religion, his patriotism, his poor judgment and associations, and his voting record as a part-time senator concern me.
If Hillary chooses to do what is right for America, she will drop out of the race; and re-enter as an Independent or maybe a McCain VP.
Whatever Hillary chooses, I hope it is because of her decision and not Party pressure. For Hillary to go against her own conscious and beliefs would be sad.

#239 A candidate cannot “give” delegates. This is the point: delegates represent the people who voted for them. However, the only guarantee this will happen is, the DNC “Call to the Convention” says delegates should use their “good conscience” to represent the voters. Well, some states decided this wasn’t good enough. In these states, legislators decided, since we let the Parties participate in primary elections in our states, which contests our taxpayers pay for, we want to make sure the wishes of our primary voters are carried out. Inn these states, state law requires delegates to represent their voters, at least on the first roll call ballot at the convention.

It’s only in the primaries that party affiliation matters.
The procedure for switching party affiliation depends on your state. What state are you from?

All of us should take heart about some basic facts.
1. If Obama manages to hang onto the nomination; he will not be elected.
2. If Obama is not elected in the general election: He will never have any credibility in the democratic party again. This is his one and only chance.
3. If Hillary wins the nomination and the election; Obama has a chance somewhere down the road, once he pays his dues.
He should think of these things. Dukakis, Kerry, Mondale, etc. should advise him to do just that.

Remember when Hillary almost got teary in NH and everyone threw such a fit about it?
Remember what she was saying? “Some of us know what we are doing, some don’t. Some of us are ready to lead, some aren’t, some of us are right, some are wrong.” (or something like that). I think she knew even then alot of the crap about Obama. I think she was almost in tears because it is that important to her that the country not be turned over to the wrong hands.

But calling Clinton supporters bitter has never been about the literal meaning of that word. The word is used by Senator Obama’s supporters at least in part because of its sexist connotations (as in “bitter old woman”). Whether Senator Obama or his supporters use the word bitter as a deliberately sexist tactic is beside the point. In the context of describing Senator Clinton or her supporters, the word has the connotation regardless of the intention of the speaker.
To me though the word “bitter” will now forever have a personal meaning, a private connotation, if you will. When I hear bitter, I think brave. Brave because it is hard to speak truth to power, scary to attract nasty name-calling, risky to stick to your principles when friends, family, and co-workers (and sometimes bosses) pressure you to surrender them. It takes guts to stick to one’s commitment to Senator Clinton or to an authentically democratic Democratic National Convention. I am absolutely impressed that so many of the people I know displaying the necessary fortitude are people who are not protected by personal privilege or position. I am appalled at the lack of fortitude displayed by some who have these safeguards to fall back upon.
One thing is for sure: this political season it is the bitter who are brave.
PLease PUMA’s don’t blame Senator Clinton. She’s just not up against Obama, she’s up against the people who put Obama up there; powerful people. Obama is just a no nothing Senator from Illinois. There are bigger fish there behind him, and she is dealing with that. The pressure she must be under. I am sure we can’t even imagine it.

What happens to pledged delegates in vote-binding states who fail to support the candidate who has not released that vote? I can only speculate what action would be taken at a state level; as for the DNC, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe you could look through the DNC Call to the Convention or other documents posted on the DNC website and get back to us.
By now the message must be crystal clear to the real thinkers in the party hierarchy: It is Hillary or McCain.
When I had the long winded discussion with Mary Isenhour a couple of weeks ago, she said ‘Why don’t you just go on and vote for McCain?”
I replied: “Don’t you understand? I am doing this because I DON’T WANT TO VOTE FOR McCain! Please do not force me to make this decision. I want a democrat in the white house too. This farse is a production of Howard Dean, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and has the blessings and final approval of Nancy Pelosi.

If I remember right Heidi Li had something about that on her blog at one time. I don’t know if there is anything you can do long term. She said that there was 10 minutes after a state gave it’s delegate votes that the vote could be challenged. Maybe this is why they want to do a pre-arranged written vote. It couldn’t be challenged within 10 minutes, since no one would hear the results of each state within that time frame.

You know, that’s quite alright. The fact of the matter is, PUMA PAC members are American voters. It’s a crying shame that this PAC had to be formed to begin with. Had “The Club” acted within the rules, things would have been different. If they want to spin it that way, fine. If they do, the only thing I can tell them is, “You ain’t seen nothing, yet!”
On a good note, this convention will be educational for NObama – he’ll finally find out how many states there are, and not the 57 that he thinks.
I do like that McCain, like Hillary, doesn’t have to shout like Rev. Wright whenever he give a speech.
My husband is an honest to goodness green party card carrying Nader voter. EVERY ELECTION! We ALWAYS argue about it. He is so mad at how Hillary was treated and he hates xo so much HE is even considering voting for McCain!

I think looking for a money trail for Schultz is a futile search. She is a GREAT magnet for money TO the DNC. She doesn’t need their money; she is useful to them because she BRINGS IN money! Her weakness is she wants power. She is very ambitious. When she first ran for office she GAVE $100,000 to the DNC. They love her for it. She’s team player through and through. She’d do their bidding because she wants to stay in their good graces. She feels her seat is guaranteed. I’m not an expert on this matter but I think the Rhodes scholarship is given to exceptional students who are the creme of the crop at the university level who show high level skills and talent to become world class leaders who aspire to bring world peace and stability..
Be careful what you post on Hillary’s sites from now on. I just got an email from DNC/Biden on an email that was only used one time at HillPac and never any other place they could have gotten it from.

HillPAC is completely seperate from the campaign so there would be no reason for them to turn it over. In fact a PAC can not turn over anything to a particular candidate in regard to their dealings with the public. So I hope you are wrong. There are 2 people who answer those emails usually and they are quite secure!

What does it mean to “release her delegates”? Very little. Here’s why.
According to the “Call for the 2008 Democratic National Convention,” pledged delegates “shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.” So, a delegate pledged to HRC as the result of the number of votes cast for her in the state’s primary caucus or election, is pledged to use all good conscience to carry out the expressed will of those voters.
The delegates from vote binding states are only obliged under state law to vote for the candidate to whom they are pledged, until that candidate releases them. At this point, then, they are only bound to exercise the good conscience required under the DNC Call.
So, releasing her delegates makes HRC look good to her oppressors while not necessarily costing her votes.
(Please refer people back to this comment every so often. It will calm their nerves.)

Yes delegates can still stand by our woman but the trouble is that their state chair will be viewed as weak and forced out of their position. Thus the meeting on Wednesday because delegates are demanding answers to questions that have not been answered by state chairs. They want to know what to do if they are being pressured and intimidated. They expect Hillary to answer those questions. I am hoping she does as well because that will determine how strong the roll call vote is on the first ballot.

I did a little mental exercise earlier today. I separated myself from the pac and went back to being an independent with no agenda.
One thing that hit me hard was, if “O’ can’t unite his own party, how can he unite the country?
Irregardless of who is opposing him it is the responsibility of a leader to overcome opposition and bring those who oppose his policies in line. By convincing them to do so. By telling PUMAS and others to go away and making no attempt to bring them on board other then by ordering it so, he has shown me he can not lead.

It’s very possible that after this fiasco, the DNC might never be a viable party again ? Why do they always talk so much about how they’re going to keep working on dressing this guy up to LOOK like a viable presidential candidate — like that will make American voters really believe is one?
If they’d just chosen someone who really is a viable candidate, they could have saved themselves all the trouble of trying to sell this damaged bill of goods to the American people. HRC suspended her campaign and so, she is not coordinating her delegates. (This is why my Georgians sent copies of the letters we sent to the AG, to delegates, with a note, “We have your back.”) And, given the closeness of this primary race, to guarantee success, she would have been shepherding her delegates to the convention; only given the machinations of DNC hierarchy, this hands-on activity with her delegates would cost her the nomination. (Discretion is built right into the “Call”; and this discretion is exercised by Chairman Dean.) So, several grass roots people have picked up the slack. But there is little coordination. I was unaware of this until just a few days ago. Now, I am in touch with several of these ad hoc volunteers, trying to forge a cohesive strategy to ensure the best outcome, given the constraints. And some of us, like me, have never been involved in party politics before.

From a new CNN poll that shows Obama tied with McCain, down from his 7-point lead in June:
Sixty-six percent of Clinton supporters, registered Democrats who want Clinton as the nominee, are now backing Obama. That’s down from 75 percent in the end of June. Twenty-seven percent of them now say they’ll support McCain, up from 16 percent in late June.
“The number of Clinton Democrats who say they would vote for McCain has gone up 11 points since June, enough to account for most although not all of the support McCain has gained in that time,” says Holland.

Henry..it was crowded and noisy and i was trying to talk with a guy who’s big time into this. he was trying to explain something about bo has promised unions something to make it harder for them to be fired in exchange for their votes. Kept getting side conversations so couldn’t get all the facts. Just know here goes bo making promises congress would have to approve in a law it could take years to pass if ever. Sounds like a risky chance to take to me!!!

Some Clinton delegates still plan to vote for her at the convention, even if she releases them.

I live in Davenport, Iowa – Precinct 23. I arrived at our precinct caucus at 6:30. At 6:50 pm, over 75 people of African American descent came walking in, past the tables and sat in the Obama section. I knew one of them from my canvassing. I knew another one who did not live in this precinct! And aside from the 4 or 5 families that live on Hillandale Road, there are no other black people in this unusually white precinct and one of those black couples were in my Hillary section. The results were Obama 3, Clinton, 2, Edwards 1! It was impossible for me to argue since the precinct chair was an Obama supporter from another precinct. A very large bus was seen in the parking lot afterwards carrying these folks back.

You probably have heard about the busloads coming in from over the IL border, but you may not have known about the busloads coming in from the NE border. North Omaha and Omaha itself are two of the three places in NE — Lincoln being the third — where there’s over 5% African-American population. Obama’s campaign offered people things like I-pods and free stuff– t-shirts, clothes, shoes, and at least two free meals on the Nebraska side.

I was at the Texas Caucus and the Obama supporter’s took the Packets as early as 6:30 which they were told not to do. They never let go and then when time came to vote they took over the precinct by some of them pushing the people that were supposed to run it across the room to chairs. They called in incorrect totals for Obama instead of correct ones. He actually had 4 delegates and they called in 19 delegates.
When my 88 year old Mother showed up, who can hardly walk on her walker, and they took her walker away from her when she said she was there to vote for Hillary. They said you are in the wrong place old woman; this is an Obama precinct, and you need to go across town. When I saw what was happening I called the police.

As an eye witness at the Precinct and Senate District Conventions, this is how Obama won many caucuses. First of all, vast numbers of Obama supporters were bused in to the conventions. They were loud and intimidating. Texas Democratic rules state that each person who participates in the Precinct Convention should have voted in this precinct and sign-in personally on a formal sign-in sheet. So many Obama people showed up, that there were not enough sign-in sheets available, so when the conventions ended, there were many sign-in sheets for Obama filled out in the same handwriting, not signed-in as specified. As Hillary supporters, we obtained copies of these sign-in sheets from all over south Texas, Harris County in particular. We laboriously compared the names on the sheets to see if the person who attended the precinct convention had voted in the primary election. Many listed Obama people had not. We then cross-checked the names of the Obama people to see if they lived in the correct precinct. Many times the Obama people did not come to the correct precinct and often appeared on sign-in sheets, as being present in several precinct convention s at the same time (a violation of the space-time continuum).

They shoved Obama signs in Clinton delegates’ faces, three inches from the nose, called them racists, and told my friend that she had to move from her third-row seat in one meeting and go sit in the back. She also said that the proceedings were heavily laced with black power speeches by preachers as well as public officials.

There were a lot of young people there and a lot of black people. We do not have that many blacks in this county. El Dorado is a small town of about 12,000 and it is the largest town in the county. There are probably only a handful of blacks that live in El Dorado. I work with the school district and travel to the high school, middle school and elementary schools and believe me, there are very, very, few black students.

Throughout this mess of a process, hostility built to a degree I found truly alarming. Some overenthusiastic BO supporters formed a gauntlet in the hallway outside the registration area, on the way to the ballroom, within the zone in which campaigning was prohibited. Any HRC supporter was subject to verbal abuse, ridicule and, eventually, physical assault.

Nebraska was totally chaotic and each precinct location had a different way to do the caucus. In Nebraska, 18 precincts where crammed into one high school in Sarpy county. When I got there, it felt like I stepped into a Third World voting situation. They were trying to determine whether people could actually participate in the caucuses or not, and then it seemed like they just gave up on that and just let anyone participate. There was a gym at the high school where about 5 precincts met. A person was supposed to fill out their preference on a slip of paper and then turn it in. They tried to run it like a primary instead of a true caucus, just take out any semblance of order and guards against voter disenfranchisement that a normal primary would have. I found a pile of these20preferences slips just sitting on a table where anyone could pick them up and fill them out.

What I saw was at least 3 trained group agitators — Since my MA is in group dynamics and group facilitation I recognized when someone is using techniques that I have been trained in. If such individuals were planted in ALL precincts, along with bringing in ringers — then ALL caucus results are bogus. For this sort of intensive origination to take place in a rural area — this means that a vast amount of money was spent to manipulate the results of the caucus. The Obama supporters kept changing the number of delegates — subtracting Clinton delegates and increasing Obama delegates, each time they claimed someone had changed and they had to do “complicated” math and that’s why Clinton kept losing delegates. There were NO Clinton supporters checking the Obama “math”.

Hi piepie! I think alot of people in our age bracket are very turned off by Biden because he’s so harsh. Not to mention the fact that it’s a direct contradiction to what Obama was running on. Change. 2 Senators? How is that change? That’s just the same old politics. I know the people whom I’ve spoken to were… let’s just say less than pleased by Biden being his choice. I, on the other hand, am thrilled. Anything that can hurt his chances in November is a thumbs up in my book!

I talked to some of the cops around the hqs today. Basically I got the same thing as I got at the Rockies game before this ever started. They just don’t want any trouble and they want to get home safe. They’d been placed on 16 hour shifts and have to be available the other 8 in case of problems. Found it very encouraging that I was asked what group we were and what we stood for. Means we haven’t been targeted as a radical group that bears watching! Some groups definitely have been!

As I see it, the beginning of the democratic Convention marks the end of the primary season, so releasing one’s delegates is a gesture on Hillary’s part to show her party support for unity. That being said, I agree with the above poster who said that delegates, whether pledged or super can still vote for the candidate of their choice. Releasing does not mean defeat. Neither did suspension mean concession. Suspension means suspension; and releasing means just that. Also, have heard reports tonight through Yahoo news that Howard Dean is asking delegates to sign a written documents telling him who they intend to vote for, before they ever vote. This will be an unpresidented move; and to the best of my knowledge there is no such DNC rule to cover this move. Just seems like Obama is trying the same corrupt cacucus tactics he used to win the cacucus states. Best advice: Unless you hear it from Hillary’s own lips—don’t believe it! HILLARY IN ’08 There can be no other!

Middle age…My guess would be at least another hour. With all the media there would surely be more talking points after the screening. Then the final chit chat, driving back to her “pad” and getting into something comfy. Since screening itself would have only been over less than 90 minutes ago that’s just my rough guess.
Interesting that on the evening news they showed pictures and said it was Hillary’s motorcade heading into town from the airport. No mention of Bill or Chelsea being with her. Showed Mo and her daughters being greeted by gov, then said Hillary also arrived today, but didn’t show any pictures, other than a brief glimpse of motorcade.

But potential voters are into more than just music, so starting next week, Rock the Vote will be working with Microsoft on an Xbox Live voter-registration drive.

NObama was given delegates of UNCOMMITTED votes in Michigan, then took away 4 delegates from Hillary which he doesn’t earn or deserve.
I’ll be moving on but it would be in the direction of McCain if Hillary is not the nominee. The welfare of my country supersedes my political affiliation, I’m American first, anything after that comes in poor second. Releasing her delegates is nothing more than a show of support FROM Hillary, for the show of unity, so that if she does not become the nominee now she will be in good standing with the Democratic Party when she runs again in 2012.

Remember they were reporting last night that Hillary would be releasing her delegates this morning but now it’s going to be Wednesday at a reception at the Colorado Convention Center. This is after her speech on Tuesday, so the delegates can make some noise that night. At that point in some states the delegates sill have to vote for her until she releases them to do whatever they want. This could be taken as a good sign for at least a few days.
Imus this morning said Hillary was treated lousy. He’s hoping to see some fireworks at the convention. So am I.

FROM IOWA
I live in Davenport, Iowa – Precinct 23. I arrived at our precinct
caucus at 6:30. At 6:50 pm, over 75 people of African American
descent came walking in, past the tables and sat in the Obama section.
I knew one of them from my canvassing. I knew another one who did
not live in this precinct! And aside from the 4 or 5 families that
live on Hillandale Road, there are no other black people in this
=0 A
unusually white precinct and one of those black couples were in my
Hillary section. The results were Obama 3, Clinton, 2, Edwards 1! It
was impossible for me to argue since the precinct chair was an Obama
supporter from another precinct. A very large bus was seen in the
parking lot afterwards carrying these folks back.

You probably have heard about the busloads coming in from over the IL
border, but you may not have known about the busloads coming in from
the NE border. North Omaha and Omaha itself are two of the three
places in NE — Lincoln being the third — where there’s over 5%
African-American population. Obama’s campaign offered people things
like I-pods and free stuff– t-shirts, clothes, shoes, and at least
two free meals on the Nebraska side.

I was at the Texas Caucus and the Obama supporter’s took the Packets
as early as 6:30 which they were told not to do. They never let go and
then when time came to vote they took over the precinct by some of
them pushing the people that were supposed to run it across the room
to chairs. They called in incorrect totals for Obama instead of
correct ones. He actually had 4 delegates and they called in 19
delegates.
When my 88 year old Mother showed up, who can hardly walk=2 0on her
walker, and they took her walker away from her when she said she was
there to vote for Hillary. They said you are in the wrong place old
woman; this is an Obama precinct, and you need to go across town. When
I saw what was happening I called the police.

As an eye witness at the Precinct and Senate District Conventions,
this is how Obama won many caucuses. First of all, vast numbers of
Obama supporters were bused in to the conventions. They were loud and
intimidating. Texas Democratic rules state that each person who
participates in the Precinct Convention should have voted in this
precinct and sign-in personally on a formal sign-in sheet. So many
Obama people showed up, that there were not enough sign-in sheets
available, so when the conventions ended, there were many sign-in
sheets for Obama filled out in the same handwriting, not signed-in as
specified. As Hillary supporters, we obtained copies of these sign-in
sheets from all over south Texas, Harris County in particular. We
laboriously compared the names on the sheets to see if the person who
attended the precinct convention had voted in the primary election.
Many listed Obama people had not. We then cross-checked the names of
the Obama people to see if they lived in the correct precinct. Many
times the Obama people did not come to the correct precinct and often
appeared on s ign-in sheets, as being present in several precinct
convention s at the same time (a violation of the space-time
continuum).

that I was already there as an Obama delegate.

Nebraska was totally chaotic and each precinct location had a different way to do the caucus. In Nebraska, 18 precincts where crammed into one high school in Sarpy county. When I got there, it felt like I stepped into a Third World voting situation. They were trying to determine whether people could actually participate in the caucuses or not, and then it seemed like they just gave up on that and just let anyone participate. There was a gym at the high school where about 5 precincts met. A person was supposed to fill out their
preference on a slip of paper and then turn it in. They tried to run it like a primary instead of a true caucus, just take out any semblance of order and guards against voter disenfranchisement that a
normal primary would have. I found a pile of these20preferences slips just sitting on a table where anyone could pick them up and fill them out.

What I saw was at least 3 trained group agitators –=C 2 Since my MA is in group dynamics and group facilitation I recognized when someone is
using techniques that I have been trained in. If such individuals were planted in ALL precincts, along with bringing in ringers — then ALL caucus results are bogus. For this sort of intensive origination to
take place in a rural area — this means that a vast amount of money was spent to manipulate the results of the caucus. The Obama supporters kept changing the number of delegates — subtracting
Clinton delegates and increasing Obama delegates, each time they claimed someone had changed and they had to do “complicated” math and that’s why Clinton kept losing delegates. There were NO Clinton
supporters checking the Obama “math”.

Remember the PROCESS is not over until the fat lady sings…The fact that she received 1/2 of the votes at the RBC meeting is what made the larger deficit of delegate count for her so that it was impossible for her to overcome BHO. The whole thing about the MI and FL Delegates is that when there was still time and money to redo these primaries, it was BO (in charge of DNC) who refused. He knew then that he would restore these delegates to full status if he ever got here, with the intent of coming out smelling like a rose.
I’ll tell you what it smells like! And, s**T doesn’t taste like ice cream, either! You got it?
I sent my letter out to ALL the SD’s yesteday – my last hurrah. I think they are coming around. I think Rendell got our message – I’d like to think we helped in getting his courage up. However it turns out, we know we did our part.

I know we can’t get all 18 million, but with the latest poll numbers they discussed last night we are up from 17% to I think they said 29%.

Howard Dean was interviewed on C-Span yesterday. He was asked if Obama has a place in the Whitehouse after he is elected. Dean said he was only thinking about getting BO & Biden elected. [I got the impression a deal was made.] A caller asked why Dean didn’t do anything when Hillary was accused of racism & sexism. Lame answer.

WE finally have a chance to look at “Established Candidates” and make our choice based on logic and un-biased facts presented. People have argued that America was built on risk. Yes, this is true, but that was at a time when there was no history to base disputable facts. WE can, and WE will eliminate the risk and speculation when casting our vote. We will use our wisdom, our intellect when critiquing unfair media biased polls, opinions, or “Campaign Killer Ads”.
WE need to ask? Where did likeability get us in the past seven years?
WE NOW have a chance to vote Competency vs. Likeability. Voters should no longer make a decision based on a candidate’s likeability or charisma, nor should voters make judgment based on a candidate’s promise of hope and inspiration.
YES, IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE. And CHANGE WILL BE HOW WE VOTE! AMERICA WILL WIN when our vote is based on candidates qualifications. AMERICA WILL WIN when our vote is based on past leadership skills. And AMERICA WILL WIN when our vote is based on factual accomplishments and achievements that were met to make America better.
America will no longer be looked down upon, embarrassed, and ridiculed because of our poor choice of leadership. America will no longer suffer due to inexperience and mis-management. America will no longer suffer due to amassed middle management and mentors in the Oval Office.

I read this blog every day, but rarely comment. I have thought about the controversy of having Hillary release her delegates. I agree that she should not. However, if she does not and she accumulates the majority of delegates, I expect those staunchly for Obama would be just as outraged as we presently are. It could be volitile and you know Hillary would be blamed for not releasing her delegates. If she releases her delegates and still gets the majority, it sure would speak volumes. If she has not signed the petition to allow her name to be officially recognized as a contender, I assume her votes will automatically be designated to Obama. I may be wrong on that. If Obama becomes the official nominee and loses in November, Hillary has a clean slate for 2012. If she hold onto her delegates and this poses a problem, only she knows what this “undemocratic” party will do to ruin any chance of her running again. I think, as much as it makes me gag, that we must continue to support her and encourage delegates to vote for her, while realizing that she must do what will benefit and protect her in the long run. We need to continue our fervent support of her and allow her to do whatever she must do in order to be our first female president–now or in the future. WE WILL BE HEARD!

I agree with you totally. I was so excited at the beginning of this race! How exciting it was, a Woman & a Black Man running for President! Oh the possibilities for History! New precedents were to be set, for the Future! No longer would there be boundaries or restrictions! It was such a bright and again Exciting time!
Then disaster struck. I started noticing Lies from Nobama. I started seeing “Politics as usual” from the “Change” candidate. I saw Michelle Bernard threaten that the Black Community (whom I am sure she did not speak for all of them) would take to the streets & riot if their first viable (Inexperienced is viable?) did not get the nomination. I was aghast!
Then I saw how Hillary was treated by the media. And how she was attacked by her fellow candidates because of her Gender! OMG! I then also started to realize that the DNC was behind the scenes doing everything they could to Force Barack down everyone’s throat!
So I agree, we need to take down the leadership in the DNC. Fix the party to allow FAIR electoral processes. And never again allow our own party to manipulate us. NEVER AGAIN! I am gay. And I know if the Democrats don’t ahve the whitehouse and the Congress/Senate, that my rights will be ignored. But I also understand that we are at war, and need someone who can take command. That someone who has experience to call upon. That person is/was Hillary. If the DNC continues on course with Nobama, I will vote McCain.
