DENVER — A man who tried to carry two hunting rifles and two pistols into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s downtown hotel remained in police custody Sunday.

Pelosi and other guests briefly left the hotel during the Saturday incident but were never in danger, Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley said.

The man, Joseph Calanchini, 29, of Pinedale, Wyo., faces a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon. Police officers at the Grand Hyatt hotel noticed him carrying a rifle-type case at the entrance and detained him.

Wiley said he didn’t know if the weapons were loaded.

“The speaker was never in any danger and she appreciates the quick and professional response of the police,” said Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly.

#16 Anna7000 on 08.24.08 at 5:47 pm

hq looks cozy. thanks for the pics.

halligan – saw your post from downstairs. what do you think? i’m figuring this grassroots movement will regroup and refocus on how to ensure obama is not elected. i’m hoping part of that effort will focus on the electoral map since that’s what it’s going to come down to in the ge. more important than general polling, in my opinion. so, i hope part of our efforts will be in those states that are up for grabs, or that are right on the margins and could be flipped from obama to mc cain. what do you think we should be thinking about or doing after the convention if obama is the nominee?

#17 mesofreee on 08.24.08 at 5:47 pm

does anyone have a link to the PUKA schedule of events?

i emailed Ricky and asked if she had a list

#42 halligan on 08.24.08 at 5:57 pm

Folks, I think we need to face the facts that Hillary has to follow the “party” line. She’s trying to please us and still stay in the mix. It’s got to be incredibly difficult for her. Going to the convention, seeing and hearing O do the things that she knows full well she can do better as got to be the biggest insult of a lifetime. I pray for her to be strong and get through this. There will be another time for her.

#43 Kerri on 08.24.08 at 5:57 pm

They just said it on MSNBC about 15 ms ago. :(

#44 Blue Blue Gal on 08.24.08 at 5:57 pm

hey – i’m lurking because i’m doing chores – when you state something and i take the time to go to the link and find it is only a spokesperson i get annoyed at my wasted time- please refrain from causing panic unnecessarily – my blood pressure can only take so much -thanks-

#45 Middle age female on 08.24.08 at 5:58 pm

Hillary will do what she is forced to do. You can only imagine how much her and Bill are being threatened, by seeing how much her supporters and surrogates are being threatened.

#46 halligan on 08.24.08 at 5:58 pm

That’s a classy place for PUMAs in Denver. Great digs, Murphy!

#47 Pookie on 08.24.08 at 5:58 pm

A reporter from Fox was trying to talk to some protestors in Denver and he could not talk to them because every other word was a curse word , they sound like obots how can you tell what they are protesting when they don’t speak a known language

#48 webfoot on 08.24.08 at 5:59 pm

Halligan, will do. I’m off and on the computer today because of the downpour.

Don’t know if you heard but CNN just confirmed Hillary releasing delegates on Wednesday!

#51 redraz9 on 08.24.08 at 5:59 pm

Fox just reported Hillary is releasing her delegates, but Hillary has not said that. She is having a reception for them on Wednesday, that does not mean she is releasing them.
Let’s wait until we hear it from her before we all go ballistic.

We are certainly making McCain a little happy. He certainly realizes that many of us Hillary supporters are going to vote for him if Hillary is not the nominee. He doesn’t even have to “court” us as it is sometimes mentioned in the Media.
We have known for a long time that Republicans saw Hillary as the more formidable candidate and so they preferred to have Obama win the nomination. We have evidence of how they aided in the process. In Wisconsin Obama was not supposed to win by a huge margin. The Governor of Wisconsin, an Obama supporter, even told him that it did not look good for him. Then look what happened. Republicans in droves went to the polls and voted for Obama! How could we ever hope to win with all these forces pitted against us.

Middle Age Female: I agree with you. It seems that after Obama was able to get to Florida delegates he then expressed himself in favor of seating the Florida delegates.

I’ve already submitted this 4 times, but it doesn’t move!!!!!

Whether or not Senator Clinton releases her delegates, we have a mission to defeat BO and kick out the corrupt DP officials. “We own our votes.” They are not going to BO.

Why is it always women who have to do all the giving they will still have the Roll call won’t they.

#76 ladyhawkke on 08.24.08 at 6:08 pm

#56 I’m mad too. I still believe Hillary could win the nomination and that the supers will go to her. Apparently she is unwilling to do this. I felt this months ago but hoped she would stand up and fight. We have fought all we can, gotten over the 300 required signatures and she probably won’t sign the petition. The roll call is rigged, what more can we do? I know this movement is more than about Hillary, it’s about democracy and that is why we went on day after day. If she does release her delegates, I will feel she let us down. There comes a time when you have to stand up for yourself, no matter what. Look what Roosevelt did in 1932. I’m going to wait and see what she really does.

#77 PA Guy on 08.24.08 at 6:08 pm

After the election, and years following …. we need to monitor corrupt DP officials and campaign to move them out. This Party needs an E**ema!

#78 1gypsy4mc on 08.24.08 at 6:08 pm

Whew – had to finish posts from this morning, then there was another new one, while reading that one, another new one is now up!!

Welcome New Pumas

Mzebest – let me know if you got your answer concerning the uninsured using the hospitals vs clinics. I don’t know a whole lot, but maybe enough to let you know what I heard.

#79 webfoot on 08.24.08 at 6:08 pm

#55 NYCgirl-nhhillary was creating the list. Maryland asked for the updated list yesterday because they were going to make the signs today. All 50 states are represented (some multiple times), plus Guam, Puerto Rico, France, and Canada. Plus soldiers, veteran’s and others. That’s all I remember. And, I think, the roll call is tomorrow in Cheesman Park.

I know it’s not the definitive answer Maryland could give you; just wasn’t sure if you had that info.

Halligan might be “out to lunch” now. ;) Try emailing her.

#81 Middle age female on 08.24.08 at 6:09 pm

Remember – our movement is more than Hillary. We all knew there was a chance she would be forced/threatened to release delegates, and throw her full support behind BO. The party might also be holding any possible future for Chelsea over her head.

So, we will continue our battle – to defeat BO and redo the DNC – at least that is what I am here for!!!

#82 TexasTigress on 08.24.08 at 6:10 pm

Regardless of what they do at the convention, I know One thing for sure – Barack Obama will NOT be the President of the United States .

#83 Kerri on 08.24.08 at 6:10 pm

Yes, they all should still be able to vote. I think. But it might be difficult to stand and vote for someone after they ASK you to vote for someone else.
I understand that HRC was put in a position where she had become a shark for standing by her voters and representing them through the first vote, but…it still really sucks. As Kids just mentioned: why is it ALWAYS for the woman to sacrifice to ‘peace’?

#84 go_Ohio_Lady on 08.24.08 at 6:10 pm

PUMA’s, please keep the faith! Of all the stations to report anything about Hillary CNN is not the station to watch. They are and have always been in the tank for Obama.

#85 mijabsnji on 08.24.08 at 6:11 pm

I will never ever vote for obama, if Hillary is not the nom I will vote for Mccain.

#86 Amarissa on 08.24.08 at 6:11 pm

IT IS NOW UP TO THE DELEGATES AND SD TO FIGHT!
If they have what it takes, they will stand up and demand Hillary be the candidate! It is SOOO OBVIOUS that he is not going to win!!!

#87 TexasTigress on 08.24.08 at 6:12 pm

Besides , this delegate info is coming from an ‘unnamed source”

#88 Kerri on 08.24.08 at 6:13 pm

These polls do not reflect how elderly voters feel. Party loyalty is disappearing……we need to look at qualifications and experience. Obama should have never made the running….just ask Biden : )

#98 NYCgirl on 08.24.08 at 6:18 pm

#89 Pookie

Yes, I agree. CNN and MSNBC should be boycotted for being in Obama’s pocket!

I just turned on Fox about an hour ago and they have been taking email from dissenters — including someone they called “Carol from Ohio” who identified herself as a PUMA! Also, Fox has been showing the demonstrations outside the convention center and interviewing some of the demonstrators.

So, I for one say “skip CNN and MSNBC”. I’ll stick with Fox and this blog!

#106 BrooklynNY on 08.24.08 at 6:21 pm

We don’t know that Hillary is going to release her delegates. The media may be reporting that but I haven’t heard Hillary say it or any of her “surrogates.”

The fact that she’s having a get-together with her delegates to thank them and release them doesn’t mean she’s necessarily going do that. She could be getting them together to tell them she’s NOT releasing them and to vote for her for all we know. It would be a great way to get them all together without raising the suspicions of DNC creepos.

I may be being hopelessly naive or optimistic here, but we’ve heard so much bs about how Hillary had bought her ticket on the Unity Express and I have yet to be fully convinced.

I don’t believe it till I hear it from her own lips.

#107 lisa on 08.24.08 at 6:21 pm

Yesterday morning on FOX a delegate for Hillary was saying that he and all the Hillary supporters he knew were still going to vote for her. Fox (was it Cavuto?) then said “but she is going to release her delegates” and the guy got irritated and said ” I don’t care if she releases them or not, none of us do. We are going to vote for her because that is what we want to do.”

#108 ladyhawkke on 08.24.08 at 6:22 pm

I just got a letter from the FL Dem Party announcing that the FL delegates had all been seated. What did I do, I blocked any further e-mails from them.

Ed Rendell was supposed to give “closing remarks” during this afternoon’s Shorenstein Center-sponsored panel discussion with all three Sunday show moderators — NBC’s Tom Brokaw, ABC’s George Stephanopoulous and CBS’s Bob Schieffer — but instead, he opened up a can of worms about bias in 2008 election coverage

“Ladies and gentleman, the coverage of Barack Obama was embarrassing,” said Rendell, in the ballroom at Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel. “It was embarrassing.”

Email to Cavuto

I tried this to the link at yourworldlive, but kep failing so I just sent it to Cavuto, also sent a similar one to Chris Wallace.

Thank you for for keeping all the info coming our the convention and especially for talking about the Hillary supporters and PUMAS. We appreciate you taking the time to truly understand that it is not all about issues but also about character and the outright fraud and cheating of Obama, the DNC and RBC. The reality is he stole Senator Clinton’s votes by purposely cheating in the caucases and primaries. If he would have let the process go as it was suppose to, Senator Clinton would be the winner. He is not a winner, but a loser who tried to win by lying and manipulating the system. Now, he is going to be an embarrassment to the party because PUMAS are going to do everything they can to ensure Senator Clinton gets a fair vote for nomination at the convention. Hopefully, with all the states now investigating the voting fraud and many being charged with felonies, it would not be a surprise if Obama was also charged in the next few months. By the way. PUMAS have a special documentary showing tonight at the pumapac headquasrters in Denver. See the proof, know the truth!

Finally, just want to say, Obama sent out a letter to pledged delegates telling them they must vote for him on the first vote. Be aware in at least 7 states that it this is iillegal. According to state law, they are REQUIRED to vote for the person they are representing on the first vote. “All delegates to the National Convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.” I would even ask you that you publish this information so the delegates get an accurate message instead of one asking them to break the law.

Thank you again for making the effort to understand our side.

Mike Gallagher, Talk Show Host, was interviewed by Fox. He said not consulting/vetting Hillary was one of the biggest bungling we have ever seen. Women will bite Bo in the bu–. Whether it resulted from ego or ignorance, it is difficult to explain.

If she does it… remember that she has to do it!
…WE’LL PAVE THE WAY FOR HER TO RUN & WIN IN 4 YEARS!

Clinton expected to release delegates Wednesday
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080824/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_clinton

- DENVER – Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, hoping to unite the Democratic Party and cement her future in it, will gather her hard-won primary delegates Wednesday at a reception where she is expected to formally release them to Barack Obama.

> [The gathering] serves a dual purpose for Clinton:
- Show fellow Democrats that she can be a team player
- and display her still formidable political strengths for the future.
- Many of her supporters want her to run for president again.

> The New York senator has support among key voting groups that Obama has yet to win over, particularly women, older voters, and working-class voters.

—–
> John McCain’s campaign launched a television ad suggesting rival Barack Obama snubbed Clinton because of her criticism during the Democratic primary fight.

The ad features clips of Clinton, including one in which she accused him of negative campaigning, and a voiceover announcer says: “She won millions of votes but isn’t on the ticket. Why? For speaking the truth.”

DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THE MEDIA ARE SPEWING!!!

Lets wait for Hillary to say it. She’s in a LOT of pressure right now from the DNC and superdelegates especially Dean, Pelosi and NObama.

I will ONLY believe it when Hillary say it! Other than that, I consider anything that comes out from the media when it comes to Hillary as pure CONJECTURE.

Yes Anna, I’ve been off all day, but got on just a bit ago. No TV news tho and you’ll be happy to know I watched an an entire episode of The Nelsons with Ozzie, Harriet, Ricky and David…..Did we ever exist like that?

#146 zephyr on 08.24.08 at 6:33 pm

#69 Hillistheone, “Just because they release them, it doesn’t mean anything…they could all still vote for Hillary!!!”

Exactly….am trying to understand why she would do this and not be disappointed. The media is reporting that it might be to save embarrassment if she gets fewer delegates. But I think the opposite holds true. IF she gets more delegates and surpasses Obama’s count then she can’t be blamed for stealing the nomination. So it might be a smart political move….even though at first glance it might seem like giving in.

No matter what I am NOT voting for O and will be voting for McCain. Perhaps Hillary has been looking forward to 2012 for a while… realizing that the primaries were rigged and knowing that noname can’t win the GE anyway. Just my spin!

#147 rtr4hill on 08.24.08 at 6:33 pm

i don’t think it’s possible for any of us to know why the media is saying what it’s saying re: clinton’s delegates other than their pointing to a “source”. but, if the report has merit, which it potentially may, it seems like it might be worth paying attention to in case there is any way, especially for folks on the ground in denver, to apply pressure, take action, etc.

while pledged delegates can still vote as they want to even if clinton releases those pledged to her, i think it would just make it all the more difficult for them to do. would take even more guts, more spine, more defiance. would be nice if we could count on it being less of a challenge and not more.

DENVER – Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will gather her hard-won primary delegates Wednesday at a reception where she is expected to formally release them to vote for Barack Obama.
Clinton has invited her pledged delegates to a reception at the Colorado Convention Center, not far from the main Democratic National Convention arena.”

Our PUMA and Hillary FRIENDS are working hard in Denver and our job at home isn’t done yet either….not until Hillary is the rightful nominee. And then the real work starts….LOL!

Can I ask all PUMA’s to do one more push of Prawls for all three days; Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to Hillary

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/help/contact/

and also at

http://clinton.senate.gov/email_form.html

To request in your most convincing tone to Hillary and Bill that they FIGHT for the nomination and what is rightfully hers, for her sake and the sake of ALL us Americans, and to NOT release her delegates. That this is not about PARTY loyalty but loyalty to the people of the United States and doing what is best for us by becoming the Democratic Party RIGHTFUL nominee. Also when you send your request to Hillary also send a contribution to help retire the debt to show your good faith in her. If we can send a mass of 10,000 or more contributions at one time to let her know that we believe in her and ask her to believe in us. It will send a very important message.

Also to do one more push to the super-delegates, at the same times, to stand up to the corruption and vote for Hillary as the rightful nominee. Explaining to them that this is not about Party loyalty but to stand up and be loyal to the American people. If you need the email addresses go to your previous prawl emails or check out the Puma resource center.

Let us not stop short and be tireless in our efforts here at home and add to the tireless efforts all our Hillary FRIENDS are doing in Denver.

Thank you FRIENDS

Please don’t get discouraged and worked up by the rumor mill from the MSM. None of you need ulcers or high blood pressure. It’s really hard to see an end in sight when you’re fighting an uphill battle. There’s no doubt that that is what we are engaged in.
We have to keep taking things in stages so that we can keep our sights on our goals. Stage 1: the primaries, showed us that the DNC is corrupt and we would have to fight to get HRC placed in nomination. Mission accomplished! Now we will have to wait and watch to see what Stage 2 will be…either to ensure HRC’s election or to guarantee BO’s landslide loss!
We have to keep making progress one step at a time. IMHO

#158 lisa on 08.24.08 at 6:38 pm

Fellow Big CATS!!

The media LOVES to lie to us about Hillary!
If she doesn’t say it from her own lips DON’T BELIEVE IT!

Hey, the supers are people too. They know XO is tanking. They know what an arrogant @@ss he has been.
They must be sick and tired of being pressured and bullied.

It is still entirely in THEIR HANDS.

NO MATTER how the DNC wants to try to control this, at the last minute, when each of those people stands up to shout out their vote- NO ONE can control what comes out of their mouths.

That is why the DNC is so scared.

DON’T LOSE FAITH. This isn’t the time to do it. We can worry about being miserable and disappointed next week if need be, but
RIGHT NOW we have to see the outcome in our minds, we have to feel the joy and excitement in our hearts, we have to have faith and really believe it is possible.

That energy goes somewhere. It helps. There is a larger group consciousness that we all participate in, and it is almost to the time where that is all we have left to give.

SO JUST KEEP THE FAITH!
HOLD ON!

#159 diva2 on 08.24.08 at 6:38 pm

#160 Elaine on 08.24.08 at 6:39 pm

PUMA’s — let’s stick together!
It makes sense that Hillary is releasing her delegates, and please don’t hold it against her. The roll call vote is a sham. It’s intent is for us to blame Hillary, and get split over the issue. She’s being held hostage, but we’re not.

Let’s remember that we’re about fair voting; particularly in the Democratic Party.

Our goal is not to get Hillary elected this year; it’s to reform the party so she can be fairly elected in ’12.

#161 ladyhawkke on 08.24.08 at 6:39 pm

#128 That’s true, besides, aren’t the rules that whether she likes it or not, the states that she won and have the rules in place, MUST vote for her on the first ballot?

I just got an e-mail from Phil Berg, the atty, responding to my question as to why he didn’t serve the defendants BEFORE he had a hearing. I mean, who does that? I guess he was hoping the judge would sign the temporary restraining order. He said that even though the suit was filed in PA, that the defendants were going to be served in WA. ??? Did he mean DC? Also, that the courthouse was closed over the weekend and that it would be 2-3 weeks before the papers were served. I wrote him back and told him that he could have gotten it done as there are process servers that work OT. I was a legal secy all my life and know you can get anything done ASAP. This is an emergency, I don’t see why he is waiting around for this. Believe me, if I were handling the case, I would have had everything in place, filed the suit and had someone on the other end ready to serve the papers immediately. All you need is to put the case # on the summons and the process server goes out and does his job.

Asian4Hillary

I think the supers are pretty pissed too.
I think in the begining of this they were scared and feeling threatened, but I think they have gotten strength from our support, and from the fact that 400 delegates signed Hillary’s petition and knowing there are others like them.
We have to hope and trust that alot of these people have some guts and a desire to stand up for themselves and their principles (or principals? or would that be like in school? oh who knows…)
This could turn in to a real history making event and a total shocker.

HRC can do whatever she wants, but nothing she can do (other than winning the nomination) will change my vote. Not in 18 million years, with 18 million elections would I cast one vote for BO. +1 for McCain.

Let’s start the PUMA party and invite her over from the darkside.

OK I’ve emailed W-Schulz, the 2 delegates in the Houston paper and the MA one who is breaking the law of his state. Are the ones in the Houston paper texas delegates? Hope so, I referred to the caucus fraud. I’m not going to spend any more time doing that if every time I come back here, everyone is wringing their hands about what Hillary is going to do and about how they are done with her if she does this or that. Get to work and help her win. Stop tearing her down, please.

#198 LandiPUMA on 08.24.08 at 6:51 pm

RE: HILLARY RELEASING HER DELEGATES WED.

I think one of the reasons she might be saying this is because she’s seeing there is practically no chance that she will get enough votes at the convention to come out as the nominee. If, given the current indications, she doesn’t announce that she will formally do what the Party expects her to do so that BO is “harmoniously” made the nominee, she will be seen as acting contrary to the Party.

She doesn’t want to give signs, at this point, that she will wage any kind of opposition or contention at the convention.

Of course, no matter what she (or the media) say now, something unexpected could still happen in the convention floor (though I doubt it… but who knows!)

Just something for everyone to think about.
We all know the media is in the tank for 61, so everyone is watching FOX. Don’t be taken in by them either. They are using this split with Hillary and 61 to their full advantage.
I like FOX and have been watching it for over a year now. But they are going to do everything they can, to keep this going for as long as they can.
So take what you hear with a spoonful of realism.
Hillary has not told us what she is going to do. Until she does, we need to stay on track and keep doing what we know is right.
If she throws us under the bus, we need to understand that she is doing what she feels like she has to do, and we are doing what we feel like we have to do.

The anger of voters cannot be ignored. These superdelegates better LISTEN to the PEOPLE if they know what’s good for them.

BO is not going to win. I don’t care what the hell anyone tells us, we’re not voting for him in November…and we ARE the liberal constituency.
So. You know what, Hill’s gotta look to 12 and be able to rebuff accusations of having worked against her own party’s bid for the White House in 08 by not doing all in her power to help BO. I got that.
I will be sending all my most positive energy, as I have for months, hoping that people use their Will to stand up for the best interest of America and vote for HRC in Denver, just as we citizens did all across the country.
Either way, we know for certain Obama’s never going to be POTUS.

LandiPUMA – I think your analysis is right on and reflects what others have said here in bits and pieces. But, as at least one blogger wrote a while back, it’s Obama’s job to unite the party, not Clinton’s. But, we can feel that way all we want, and then there’s reality and politics churning away in it’s own world. It’s frustrating to see her being painted into a corner like this. And, like at least one other blogger wrote, seems like women are often the ones to have to carry the responsibililty for things far beyond what it there’s to be responsible for.

God, I can feel all of our emotions straining so much now that the convention is here. Hard to keep jockeying between taking action, hoping for the outcome we want, while also trying to somehow brace oneself for what we don’t want.

Anyway, I always find your posts so well thought out. Much appreciated.

I don’t agree, especially since so many of these delegates voted AGAINST their constituents. If Hillary’s delegates vote for her, and the ones that were SUPPOSED to vote for her, then the only ones she needs are ones that don’t have a district or constituency to answer to (people like Bill).

I also don’t think that all these supers are as weak and scared as you portray them. They are people like us, and we are the majority. That means the people they represent are the majority.

I am getting really tired of this negativity. I don’t understand why you are working so hard now if you have already given up on 2008.

First , Hillary will come out and thank everyone for showing up , then she will direct the Puma in charge of video to display Obama’s REAL BC that she has had in her posession all along , then she will play the Whitey Tape , which she has had in her posession all along , then she will have Rezco and Ayers live on satellite behind her saying that they are going to testify against Obama . Then she is going to have the police arrest Nancy , Howie ,Bo and Mo for fraud , and then she is going to say ,” You should have known better than to F with me .” Then everyone will cheer and we will live happily ever after .

Hillary was caught between a rock and a hard place. No Democrat has won or probably can win the White House without the black vote. There was no way blacks were not going to support Obama. She has to to everything she can to not upset that voting block now if she wants to run again for POTUS.

That does not mean PUMAs have to support Obama. And in my view the Repub attack machine has more amunition, supplied by Obama himself, that they will be the bad guys and squash Obama in the GE.

#233 bmw60 on 08.24.08 at 7:03 pm

I copied this from another blog… but as far as the word “bitter” is concerned I loved this …. we are not BITTER anymore!!!

“To me though the word “bitter” will now forever have a personal meaning, a private connotation, if you will. When I hear bitter, I think brave. Brave because it is hard to speak truth to power, scary to attract nasty name-calling, risky to stick to your principles when friends, family, and co-workers (and sometimes bosses) pressure you to surrender them. It takes guts to stick to one’s commitment to Senator Clinton or to an authentically democratic Democratic National Convention. I am absolutely impressed that so many of the people I know displaying the necessary fortitude are people who are not protected by personal privilege or position. I am appalled at the lack of fortitude displayed by some who have these safeguards to fall back upon.

One thing is for sure: this political season it is the bitter who are brave.

Regarding negative replies, or how to respond to BHO supporters:

Whether one is writing to their governmental officials or BHO’s supporters, I think perhaps the better approach would be to take my cues from Mr O himself. If any of you have watched him, he has cleverly mastered the art of taking a distraction and making it into a positive. He uses colorful ajectives to get his point across. For example, according to Mr O, Hillary is not a good or great campaign opponent, she is “tenacious” a word that rhymes with vicious and invokes a mental image of a tiger. He does not necessarily speak to the mind, but will in fact create mental images. He works with mind *concepts* rather than ideas as pure thought. By doing this, he invokes mental associations and brings up images that talk directly to the emotions rather than to reason. He divides in order to conquer. He believes in the old adage, that the best defense is an offense.
So if I were talking to a BHO supporter, I would use his own words and/or thoughts against him. For example,

If people say, stop bothering us, or stop flooding our email boxes, I might respond: We are only doing what Mr O suggested we do. How so they will ask. Well, he said that he built his campaign from the bottom up and we are doing the same. He said that his administration would not be beholding to large lobbyist or that lobbyist money will not run his administration. Well, we are doing exactly what he has requested. Namely, we are a grass roots bottom up group who, by our very nature have been compelled and drawn together by one common goal. We are the many voices of the common person, to whom he said he would listen to were he to become President. So all we are asking of you, is that you give us a chance to be heard… to be listened to, because we *are* the voice of the people.
Out of the Many, Comes the One.”

Yes; let’s keep doing all we can to get Hillary elected this week. But keep in mind that all of us — including Hillary — are up against probably the most corrupt election in the history of our nation. No matter what they claim to accept [like roll call vote], they can find a way to sabotage.

But … WE WILL WIN in the end … maybe not this week up against the DNC. Let’s keep Plan B in mind; if BO is nominated, we work for his defeat and the current leaders of DNC losing their power; for a new DNC to emerge before 2012 will create a fair primary process.

There are a great many issues we can raise if we need to go to Plan B. No Quarter has an excellent discussion of Biden’s role in the Clarence Thomas hearings, and his very anti-woman stance.
http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/08/24/this-is-just-ironic/

I keep comparing us to the Suffragists. [www.unbrokencircles.com]. They had to fight the DNC through several elections before they got suffrage for women. Our issue is about justice and “one person; one vote.” We will win in the end!

Mr Biden,

Though I have respect for your record, and I hope that by running with him you do not destroy your career, he has shown me nothing.
Obama has destroyed the Democratic Party. There is and will be no unity. In my opinion, the fact that the DNC has tried to pass him off as a viable candidate is an embarrassment.
Many of Senator Clinton’s supporters will not vote for Obama, myself included. Not only will I not vote for him, but I will not vote for any Democratic candidate that supported him. Out with the old and in with the new. That’s change I can believe in!

Voters Not Yet Backing Obama

Barack Obama desperately needs the support of Bill and Hillary Clinton voters if he’s to win the presidential race in November — and so far he’s not getting it.

That’s the view expressed by NBC News political director Chuck Todd during an appearance with host Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s “Hardball” on Wednesday. Republican John McCain and Democrat Obama have “carved up” the partisan vote and “the vote that is left to get is a vote that loves Hillary Clinton,” Todd said.

Maybe we can all agree that now that it’s crunch time and we’re in the thick of our first milestone (the convention) that 1) emotions are running super high, 2) we’re all going to have different ways of coping with how things are playing out, with some focusing on the next 72 hrs and others focusing longer term already, but 3) as long as we don’t insult each other and express our views with dignity, it’s ok.

As I’ve stated a few days ago in previous thread, Hillary must do what she must to survive politically. This is harder for her, she’s the one in the front line. There is ONE thing we ALL can do, if these bought and paid for superdelegates totally ignore voice of their constituents – BALLOT BOX.

The Democrat Party is truly divided and the best thing we can do , after the convention, is work hard to defeat Obama and those politicians that didn’t represent their states properly at the convention. Also, work to unseat Kerry, Pelosi, Reid, and all of the people that wouldn’t hear the voice of the voters…they can be replaced, THAT is democracy in action. Hillary may have to ‘take it’ but we DONT. This Primary season opened my eyes to the need for all voters to pay attention and hold politicians accountable…they do work for us. We will remember in November. The DNC and the power brokers behind them selected the most unqualified person possible for the highest position in the land …how could they??? As the saying goes…The Dems have ,once again, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. This lifelong Democrat will vote for McCain, the first time I have ever voted Republican..may go down ticket also if it will send a message to the DNC….Oh, am I bitter, angry, vindictive??? Yep.

I am flabbergasted by Kirk thinking that this electoral process this year is fair. Has he lost his freaking mind?

This is the most corrupt election I can ever remember living through.

I think that Biden did not really want the VP spot but was chosen to fall on his sword for the party because he is near retirement age. His health is actually not real good. He has had two aneurisms. They know BO is not going to win the election.

#271 BrooklynNY on 08.24.08 at 7:17 pm

Debbie Wassermann-Schultz is a very ambitious young politician. She thinks her congressional seat is invulnerable. She was taken under the wing of Nancy Pelosi early in her career; she brings in lots of $$$ to the DNC. She’s more interested in protecting her career by maintaining her sweet spot within the DNC than representing her constituents. I don’t have a lot of faith in her. She’s looking more and more like a sell-out to me. But she’s got to be having an attack of conscience, even as she continues to spout the DNC propaganda pitch. She looked distinctly uncomfortable when I saw her interviewed on FOX.

#268 Prowlland I don’t know. All I know is you can get a process server to stand by. I’ve done that a lot. This is what he wrote:

The lawsuit was filed on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at approximately 4:45 in PA, all defendants must be served in WA, there is no way to get service in another state completed within hours. Original documents must be sent to WA, then the Marshall or Process Server may not get to it for a week or two. There would have been absolutely no way to have defendants served by 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2008. Further, courts are not open on the weekend. There is a process in all litigation, a process we must follow.

Once I have confirmation service is complete, I will prepare another press release and post it on the website. Phil

#299 Lorelai on 08.24.08 at 7:26 pm

From Ricky Lieberman: (last night) -

“SD’s have the awesome reponsibility to select the electable Democrat, and there are rumors that dozens more SD’s are planning to switch or switch back to vote for Hillary on this basis. Please reinforce this with your SD’s and public officials from your state or whom you have helped financially. CALL CALL CALL

I have been flood with emails from delegate telling they are staying with Hillary and are proud of it! In addition, Hillary delegates are hearing directly from “Hillary People” to please vote for her on the first ballot. There is no longer any ambiguity about that, if there ever was.
GO GO GO”

#300 maxgrader on 08.24.08 at 7:26 pm

I was wonderING.

Will the indoor part of the convention be televised live where anything unexpected gets seen, or will there be a time delay so that the Democrats can hide any provactive or miltant expessions?

See, I WILL NOT be wasting my time watching such a phony presentation. What I’d like to do is record each evening one night at a time on an 8 hour tape, and if something happens of interest, of significance or just anything above the concept of boredom then I can review it later.

My plans for the week? Believe it or not ladies and gentlemen I have over 50 hours of CBS archives of the Kennedy assassination as it happened starting with the news bulletin interupting “As the World Turns” on Friday November 22, 1963 and extending all the way to the funeral procession of JFK on Monday November 25, 1963. I haven’t viewed it in a while. I’ll be watching that because even after all these years it’s still more compelling a thing to watch than Barack Obama at a convention.

August 24, 2008

BY FAX: (954) 437-4776
(202) 226-2052

Dear Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz:

As a strong Hillary Clinton supporter, I urge you to switch back to Senator Clinton, if only on the first ballot. Please be aware that many women (and men as well) are looking at you to lead us forward for the right to have a fair and balanced roll call. Further, you may not be able to raise money from women for your re-election campaign if needed.

I have heard but do not know if true, that the order of roll call for the delegates will not be as usual, i.e., A, B, C, etc. That Obama’s delegates will go first so he can gain the lead and Sen. Clinton’s roll call will be a sham. If this indeed is fact, it is further proof that the DNC, Pelosi, Dean, Brazile and the rest are corrupt.

This was supposed to be a glorious convention for the Democrats and Sen. Clinton. The process was rigged from the beginning against Sen. Clinton and now the roll call is being rigged in favor of Sen. Obama. Sen Clinton is beloved and an honored patriot who has been treated with disrespect throughout this election season by the MSM and the DNC. You owe it Sen. Clinton and all her supporters to stand up and be heard to let the DNC and Mr. Obama know that WE THE PEOPLE still own this land and the RED WHITE AND BLUE is to be honored and respected at all costs.

Please reconsider your decision and show your support for Sen. Clinton at the roll call in Denver. Do not allow the Democratic process to be hijacked by imposing their will on you and the citizens of this country.. It only takes one person to start the ball rolling to stand up for truth. Rally your delegates and vote for Sen. Clinton. Do not allow the DNC to make a mockery of the roll call. It must proceed in order as always. I hope you reconsider and stand up for democracy in Denver.
Thank you,XXX Puma Democrat from Florida

I appreciate the PUMAS because if ya’ll continue to grow and develop as a movement then we may get some of the real issues addressed.

I love Hillary and the attacks on her were attacks on her supporters as well. But the real deal is that candidates that did not support Obama (Hiilary supporters) are already targeted by Camp Obama.

Just as we need to develop strategies to make our voices heard….Senator Clinton is developing a strategy to survive and prosper as a politician in the Obama Machine. She has the party leadership and the media stacked against her. Not an easy position to be in.

The delegates can still vote the way they want and that it’s nothing more than a show of support from Hillary for the sake of unity so that if she does not become the nominee she will be in good standing with the Democratic Party when she runs again 2012.

HILLARY IS BRILLIANT!

She is on the news now more than ’61! It all started with the home video at the fundraiser where the catharsis thing was mentioned. We did the job for her! The video got on YouTube and all of us sent it to the media. Then the media started talking about it and Hillary had “no choice” but to ask “O” to give her supporters the chance to cool off by giving her the “roll call”. In the meantime, she kept campaigning for ’61 like a devoted Democrat but knowing that we would keep pushing for her even though she was telling us to “be united behind ’61″. She did everything to please the Party but we are a wild group and did not listen to her, shame on us! LOL! Now, she even goes as far as announcing she is releasing her delegates but… before … she meets with all of the delegates to “thank them”… BRILLIANT! She knows ’61 cannot win but it will not be blamed on her! She was a “professional politician”, did everything in her power to help him, etc, etc, as CNN’s Gergen said a few minutes ago…
November comes and “O” loses… But time was not wasted because everything is now organized for her to win in a 2012 candidacy! She has all of our grassroot movements, she has women groups in her favor and she has the respect of whites, blacks, indians, seniors, juniors, gays, etc, etc. because she was honest and true to her Party. Isn’t she brilliant???

THE HILLARY DEBT

I heard all the stories and studied all the FEC reports that I could find. Hillary Clintons Presidential Campaign took in $2.5 million, spent $3.4 million and paid down the debt by $1.3 million. The problem is that there are other PACs and funds involved and some only file quarterly. Some I just cannot find. I may eventually be able to track the money trail if we really need to prove something, but not at this time. I, personally do not feel the need to do so. I checked my cash donations and they were where I sent them, although I do not see the T-shirt stuff.

The bottom line is that the money was donated towards her debt to prevent that from keeping her off the ballot at the convention. As far as I can tell, it was used to maintain operations and get her on the ballot. After all, she is on the ballot.

If Hillary had run in 2004 but Kerry still had gotten the nomination would you have voted for Bush? Will you subject this nation to another 4 years of Bush-style policies out of spite for Obama? And in hopes that the only true candidate can run in 2012 (assuming we still have a democracy then)? Why don’t you just write-in Dick Cheney instead? COMNTSMF (Cutting Off My Nose To Spite My Face) might be a better acronym for this movement but if McCain is elected because of your abandoning the Democratic party you will be forever known as PUMAs (Pushed Up My Ass!). Bill certainly believes in a cult of personality but I doubt Hillary really does. I would love for her to be the first female President of the United States but I think it’s pretty stupid (and selfish) to try to ruin any chance of a Democratic presidency until she’s the only candidate. I’m a Democrat, not a Obama-maniac but I don’t want another 4 years of right-wing disasters!

This was an article posted by jdjb ref to Georgia AG

Thursday, August 21, 2008
Attorney General Tells GA Delegates They Can’t Switch Their Vote At The Convention

I’ve confirmed with two members of the state’s Democratic National Convention delegation that Attorney General Thurbert Baker sent them a letter informing them that they could not switch their vote to another presidential candidate if they are a pledged delegate to someone else.

Two delegates pledged to New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Shannon Marietta of Dougherty County and Cheryl Williams of Gwinnett County, both said they received a letter from the Attorney General stating that they could not switch their vote until Sen. Clinton released them or she received less than 35% of the vote during the roll call vote.

The Attorney General’s letter cites an relatively unknown section of Georgia’s presidential preference primary law that states Any person selected as a delegate or delegate alternate to such national convention shall file a qualification oath with the Secretary of State pledging support at the convention to the candidate of their political party or body for the office of President of the United States for whom they are selected to support. The oath shall state that the delegate or delegate alternate affirms to support such candidate until the candidate is either nominated by such convention or receives less than 35 percent of the votes for nomination by such convention during any balloting, or until the candidate releases the delegates from such pledge. No delegate shall be required to vote for such candidate after two convention nominating ballots have been completed. [Source: Official Code of Georgia Annotated 21-2-196]

Both Clinton delegates said they planned on voting for New York’s junior Senator on the first ballot anyway.

I’m currently working on getting a copy of the letter.

Particularly in states that are pledged and/or voted for Hillary in the primaries, it’s also impt to contact your:

(1) Democratic Congressperson
(2) Governor
(3) US Senators

They are the leaders of their state’s delegations. Urge them to encourage their delegations to vote for Hillary on the first ballot (and succeeding ballots).

#422 BigCatLover on 08.24.08 at 8:15 pm

#431 NobamaNetwork on 08.24.08 at 8:21 pm

webfoot, I can’t begin to guess how many emails I have gotten just like that over the past 2 months. So many people don’t get it and they think and speak in MSM headlines. I did write him back and here is my response:

Hello Charles,

I am afraid you have been misinformed about the movement and are speaking in CNN (which had been renamed ONN for biased reporting) headlines. The actions of the DNC who, with their dirty tricks and backroom deals, ignored the American voters and selected the candidate they had been grooming for the past few years. This movement is not a group of racist older white women Hillary supporters. That is a label created by the news media. This movement is made up of Americans who clearly see the danger in a political organization who thinks their rules supercedes the Constitution of the United States of America.

This is not about any one candidate. Had you been paying attention you would have notice the DNC and Barack Obama’s actions reminded this country how fragile and vulnerable our Democracy really is. This is the time to speak up and remind the Democrats they do not get to ignore the American voters and “pick” the President.

As to Barack Obama, he is the most dangerous politician to come along in decades. If you watched the show at Saddleback last week you saw a man who will do anything to get elected. On national television, sitting in church, he lied about his hardest decision being the vote on the Iraq war. That vote took place in 2002 and Barack Obama was not a US Senator until 2005. It speaks volumes about is character.

We have received complaint after complaint from Delegates who are being threatened, intimidated, and replaced for speaking up and saying they will not support Obama because they were elected by their peers to support Hillary (who has not released her delegates). This is America where we have a process to electing our President. Obama had nothing to do with allowing Hillary’s name to be put into nomination, it is her Constitutional right!

Obama is a moot point and his legal difficulties will soon keep him from ever being elected. And to say that McCain is a continuation of Bush, again screams you are speaking in campaign slogans.

Before sending more of your hate mail you should take the time to educate yourself. Look on my website, there are over 500 places to start that education.

#432 Anna7000 on 08.24.08 at 8:24 pm

Hello PUMAS !! just hours before the big event!! I received an email from Obama-Biden, and I replied :
Dear Senator Biden,

Thank you for your email. I have always believed that you are a great candidate to be the president of the United States. During the debates, I always saw you as a decent candidate, and I sometimes believed you could be the Democratic nominee.
But I am sorry to express my disappointment when you accepted to be Senator Obama’s VP. The country is before the party, and we both know that Senator Obama is far from being ready to be president, and has carried out a campaign full of lies, under a promised changed that will never be real.
I have always voted Democrats all my life, not this time, even with you as VP. It all started when Obama and the Dem. Party treated Hilalry the way they did. You said it once, Obama is not ready to be president, what are you doing becoming his VP now? It’s a real pity and I am sorry if my honesty lacks the respect you really deserve. Your life has proven to be different, and you have had a great career as a decent politician, but this move has left me in big shock.
Can you save Obama? Perhaps yes, but you are not the candidate running for President, if you were, I would vote my heart and my mind for you as I have always done for all Democrats, but not this time.
I regret that I have to vote for a Republican candidate for the first time in my life, but I can’t feel that I am being faithful to my country if I vote for Obama.
I still hope that at the convention, superdelegates will give Hillary the place she deserves, and you can run to be her VP, I will gladly vote for you then.

Thank you for your time.

But, no pressure. You may find the process of searching is too arduous, so give yourself a break if you hit the wall.

But, now that I’m not, please let me say I was quite impressed that while half way across the country on some presumed “vacation” you managed to be first on a recent thread. Geez, girl. ************ SEE POST 233***********

WE ARE NOT BITTER!!!! WE ARE THE BRAVE ONES!!!!

People just don’t get it…
They need to ask…Who would they hire?
With experience comes the knowledge of what works and what does not work. With experience comes the wisdom of not only recognizing you strengths, but your weakness. With experience comes the integrity understanding your failures and never repeating mistakes. With experience, you develop confidence and mostly…a spine. Hillary has a history of fighting for what is right for all Americans. Her experience would lead America in the right direction. Having gone through seven plant closings, downsizings, and relocations, I understand the importance of ‘Experienced Required”. Why should it be any different in an election? We need to hire the candidate who has a proven track record. I never got hired based on popularity or delivering BS, but on what I was able to bring to that employer and perform DAY ONE! Who would you hire and trust with the most important job in the world?
We need to vote WHATS GOOD THE COUNTRY, not what’s good for the Party.
Next to Hillary, McCain is the next qualified!

We have to try and take some of the blame off of her if we can.

All of this … sigh. Is the reason I no longer have any faith in any of our governmental / election processes. People who choose to make a stand for what is intrinsically right – are shoved down. Raising a voice for what is right, just and fair – crushes the career and life’s work of another by the very institution that was supposedly designed to ALLOW people to have a voice. Grrr…

Take care everyone

Nobama, Nobiden, noway.

If the DNC overturns the will of the people in Denver this week and selects O as their nominee, then we will remember in November.

I will, with a heavy heart, vote for McCain in November. And I will continue to vote OUT every Pennsylvania delegate who cast their vote for Obama – in every election from now on for as long as it takes to clean up our Democratic party.

We will not give in, we will not give up, we will not fall in line…and we WILL remember in November!

Until then, I will continue to email as many delegates as I can every day until my fingers freeze up, to remind them of their moral obligation to reflect the will of the people of their respective states and cast their votes for Hillary Clinton. – the PEOPLE’S CHOICE!

Oooooh that made me mad. (well, I was still mad from earlier, and yes, obviously I can’t stay away)

so here is my response to him:

Dear Mr. Cates,

I read your response to another PUMA, and was quite shocked at the nastiness, but on to the point.

In our opinion, voting for whoever the DNC selects for us regardless of the votes of the public, or voter intimidation, or caucus fraud, or blatant and continual misogyny, or media fawning, is short-sighted.

Sir, I don’t need to check my voter registration card to decide what my values and positions are.

This election is being run as if we are in Kenya- it is a farce. As a patriotic freedom loving democrat, I will do my duty to KEEP THE PARTY HONEST.

If you care more about the economy then you do your voice in government, if you care more about “sticking it” to the Republicans then you care about citizens feeling as if they are respected and heard and treated as equals, then YOU go right ahead and cut off your nose to spite your face. Let the party lead you wherever it decides you should go. Good luck with that.

He must be making the rounds. My reply to him on PUMALatinos….
I find your example to be very weak. This is a whole different ballgame. Senator Clinton garnered half the vote. The DNC is doing everything in its power to force Obama down our throats. I find it embarrassing as a Democrat that the DNC would try to pass him off as a viable candidate. He has destroyed the Democratic party. There is and will be no unity. I am not willing to take a chance on this country’s future with an unqualified and inexperienced candidate such as Obama. You are entitled to do as you feel is right and so am I. I choose my country before my party.
I guarantee that if Obama walks out of the convention with the nomination I will use this website to reach out to Senator Clinton’s Hispanic supporters so that they will be able to make an informed decision. Check back, you might learn something.

CNN poll: Post-Biden poll shows dead heat
Posted: 06:25 PM ET

DENVER, Colorado (CNN) — It’s a dead heat in the race for the White House. The first national poll conducted entirely after Barack Obama publicly named Joe Biden as his running mate suggests that battle for the presidency between the Illinois senator and Republican rival John McCain is all tied up…This looks like a step backward for Obama, who had a 51 to 44 percent advantage last month…So what’s the difference now?
It may be supporters of Hillary Clinton, who still would prefer the Senator from New York as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee.”

Of course it is stressful for us but think of how Hillary must feel. At least she has a very strong family and many, many people respect her including Republicans who respect her enough to push for BO. One thing we can all do is light a candle for Hillary or say a prayer. The path forward will become more and more obvious in the next few days. Relax, things need to incubate and then we will see what is needed and move forward in our resistance. We are a group of people who do not have trouble seeing what is happening. That may not sound like much but so many have been blind that seeing reality is a lot.

or the DNC is guilty of voter fraud then I’m all for kicking them out for it and bringing them to trial. But I want proof and not just rants. Put me on your email list if you have real, concrete proof (and I’ll confess I don’t have a TV–not that brings you news anyway–and get my news via DemocracyNow.org, BBC World Service, and the Al Jazeera English web stream) and I’ll support you 100%. Keep up the blogs and make your voices known at the convention. But I don’t want 4 more years of any Republican. It’ll take a Democrat to undo what they’ve already done!
Regards,
Charles
I think this is a fair response and if anyone has those videos of voter fraud to send him, that’d be good.
I wrote him back saying he’s lucky to not be watching the news BS but that being an obviously intelligent human being, had he had to suffer through it as we did, these many months, he’s most certainly have come to the conclusion of corruption.

Here is something good to read about an interview with our friend Chris Matthews moving leg freak in love with Obama…..

“They make less than $50,000. They’re Catholics … They live in small towns and rural America, the places that Bill Clinton spent all his time campaigning. And oh, by the way, they love Bill Clinton.”
Matthews stated that 11 percent of voters “are sitting out there, loving the Clintons, not liking Barack Obama. What has to happen between now and November to get that critical 11 percent to move into Barack Obama’s column?”
What is needed, Todd observed, is for both Hillary and especially Bill Clinton to speak strongly in support of Obama at the Democratic Convention and convince the undecided that Obama is ready to be president.
Todd: “The Clintons have to make the case, I know this guy, he’s ready, I like him, he can lead.”
Matthews: “Can they do it?”
Todd: “I don’t know.”
Todd said he’s confident that Hillary will express strong support for Obama, but added: “It’s the Bill Clinton question, I think, that a lot of people are going to watch.”
Matthews noted that people believe Bill is angry about the way the Barack campaign dealt with him in the primaries and is reluctant to help him win.
Said Todd: “You’ve got to assume he’s going to say and do all the right things. But how does he say it? What kind of enthusiasm is behind it?…
“Maybe the election eventually won’t be about the Clintons, but … whether Obama likes it or not, the group of voters he has yet to unite are Clinton Democrats.”

I got a reply back from Charles cates as well. I was impressed. Quick somebody with the links needs to send him some youtubes of caucus fraud etc. ! Here is his response to me.

Hi Lisa,
I apologize for any nastiness; it was not intended. I voted for Hillary here in the Texas primary but I just feel it’s most important to have a Democrat in the White House. If the DNC has done wrong (and I’ll certainly admit I’m not up on what’s been going on in this regard) then they should not only be called on it but ousted if not charged with a crime. But I still think asking people to vote for McCain rather than the zfr, pvtsyov candidate (whoever that candidate is and however they got there)
really is cutting off your nose to spite your face. We can’t stand 4 more years of these people and McCain isn’t really a maverick or a moderate. I’ve heard from a PUMA support who felt Obama is too liberal and thought we needed a more centrist candidate. That isn’t my idea of the Democratic party. More like Paul Wellstone is how I’d like to see them. But make your charges at the convention and back them up. If there’s enough publicity that could get out (if that’s possible these days) there’s still a chance Hillary could be the candidate. I’ll vote for that candidate whoever they are.
Regards,
Charles

#500 SunnyPA on 08.24.08 at 9:01 pm

Here’s the reply I received from Mr. Cates:

Hi Beverly,
I certainly agree with you about Reid, Pelosi, and Dean in so far as I think they’ve caved under to the Bush/Cheney gang. And I’ll admit I don’t know much about Obama as I should. I’m just afraid McCain will owe too much to the lobbyists and evangelicals (not that Bush did them much good) when he’s elected. And he did leave his crippled wife for his younger, richer mistress! I’d like to see both the DNC & RNC replaced and have much, much more oversight on rules & procedures on selecting candidates, delegates and election rules. Certainly your vote is your own and its obvious you’re a concerned voter. I just think it’ll take a Democrat to undo what’s been done in the past 89 years.
Regards,
Charles

redraz9 – this is crunch time in my household so little time, but here’s a draft of something you’re free to use as you see fit, per your #487 post. it’s hardly “profound” (lol), but it’s a framework from which to work if you want to use it:
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – -
To whom it may concern:

Regarding the Democratic National Convention, the media has often reinforced the DNC’s call for unity, which has not infrequently pinned this responsibility on Senator Clinton. However, I would like to remind you that it is not Senator Clinton’s responsibility to unite the Democratic party. Instead, the primary responsibility lies with the presumptive nominee, Senator Obama. In fact, it is he who has proclaimed a great desire and commitment to unify the party. As of this writing, he appears unable to fulfill that promise.

Senator Clinton has gone above and beyond doing her part, some might say even more than what would be reasonably expected of any other candidate who won the popular vote and who won more primaries than any other candidate in history.

It would be refreshing if the press, starting with your news organization, would point this out.

Sincerely,

Instead, the primary responsibility lies with the presumptive nominee, Senator Obama. In fact, it is he who has proclaimed a great desire and commitment to unify the party. As of this writing, he appears unable to fulfill that promise.

Senator Clinton has gone above and beyond doing her part, some might say even more than what would be reasonably expected of any other candidate who won the popular vote and who won more primaries than any other candidate in history.

It would be refreshing if the press, starting with your news organization, would point this out.

Sincerely,

My post at CNN

America should come first!
I am a life-long Democrat. However, after this election, I feel I can no longer support a Party that continues to abuse its’ power for personal gain. The will of the people, 18,000,000, have been disenfranchised by Pledged Delegates/Super Delegates.
I will not vote for Obama nor will I will sit back and accept the Presumptuous Nominee. The DNC wants us to unite for the good of the Party…BS. What about what’s good for America. That should be the main focus
I will vote for the person who has the most qualifications, the most accomplishments, and the most experience to fill the most important job in the world. To support someone of lesser qualities is SAME ‘OL POLITICS.
What is important is who is going to lead this country in the right direction. There is no time for On the Job Training for BHO. There is no time for amassed middle management and mentors to aid BHO in decision making. He criticized Bill and Hillary for old style politics and the need for change. Where does Biden fit in for CHANGE?
I don’t trust Obama. His religion, his patriotism, his poor judgment and associations, and his voting record as a part-time senator concern me.
If Hillary chooses to do what is right for America, she will drop out of the race; and re-enter as an Independent or McCain VP.
Whatever Hillary chooses, I hope it is because of her decision and not Party pressure. For Hillary to go against her own conscious and beliefs would be sad.

Fight for America
God Bless America
Hillary 2008
A Vote for Obama………………………from my cold dead hands………..

Hi! The leaders of Puma Pac and others are in Denver. Welcome to our group and please feel free to browse to understand our movement and goals. So many projects are happening now that it is hard to keep up.

Each morning there is usually a summary paragraph for new Puma Pac members at the top of the thread.

The Pelosi re-election……even if the Witch of the DNC gets re-elected and the Dems maintain majority in the House doesn’t mean that she will retain her precious seat as Speak since the speaker must be voted into the position by the majority caucus and if that majority caucus is composed of NEW PUMA HILLARY DEMS then she is in trouble even with all her threats of political isolation to anyone that goes agains the Queens Rule.
So it is up to us to make sure that a NEW CONGRESS is put into place and correspond with them that anyone that supports Pelosi shall feel the retribution of the American Public strong and swiftly.
It is time for the American People to take the country back and remind all that want to be politicians that the are hired by and fired by us and work for us as the CEO’s of their fates.

Go forth and take our country back from the hands of the unworthy and the corrupt!

“I really think we need to contact the media during the convention, instead of after. I will go back through emails and get the media emails addresses for the media.
But I am not very good at writing the letters. If someone will write a letter for me, stating that Hillary is not responsible for dividing the party and she can not unite it”

=========================================
I support your idea, we need to focus again in sending letters to the media and the delegates.

#528 ElyLos Angeles on 08.24.08 at 10:23 pm

By the way, anybody knows how to change parties?
I was not voting if Hillary wasn’t the candidate, but the way things are coming out, I decided to vote for McCain.

#529 webfoot on 08.24.08 at 10:32 pm

#528 ElyLos Angeles I think changing parties is different in the various states. And some Pumas have mentioned time frames for each state before elections. I live in Washington State and we don’t have to declare a party affiliation; we just vote how we want. We even mix and match. That is, we can vote for the person we feel is best rather than sticking to one party.

#530 mccaindemo on 08.24.08 at 10:35 pm

Hello #524 GBPuma….I agree and will work towards ridding the Democrat Party of Pelosi and others that campaigned and stood up for Obama. I keep asking myself and others HOW COULD THEY BACK HIM ? What were they thinking ?? We wanted to WIN this election, why did they think the voters would accept this marginal , wanna be tin horn dictator,(phoney rallies, faked Presidential seal, salutes, empty slogans and no record!). I am guessing the DNC had so little regard for their voters they thought we would fall for this American Idolization of the Presidency…guess what….we are not buying it and November will tell the tale. We need to warn our counties and cities about ACORN voter fraud ..we cannot allow this corrupt group to steal this election..if we don’t stand up and make noise the DNC, and all of the power brokers behind them, will continue on with these practices and our vote will never count again. Democracy is fragile and we, the people, are the only ones to protect it. Sorry for the rant..just very upset that Hillary is going to release her delegates. Seems there is no one fighting for us..the little guys..the voters, remember us ?

#531 turndownobama on 08.24.08 at 11:16 pm

I sent this to a delegate and got a positive response.

Don’t you wish Gore in 2000 had kept trying to get the votes counted
and uphold a fair election process, instead of being shouted down as
‘Sore Loserman’?

If Gore had got in the White House, we might never had had 9/11; he
and Bill Clinton had foreseen that kind of terrorism and set up
precautions, which Bush disregarded.

That was Bush’s big inexperience mistake — that and starting the Iraq
war. Because Bush was an inexperienced person who had nothing to run
on except a claim of ‘good judgement’.

Who knows what inexperience mistake Obama will make? Bush got us into
a ground war, Obama may get us into WWIII. Bush just thought he had
‘smarts’. Obama thinks he’s some sort of chosen messiah destined to
heal the whole planet.

We need a sane honest leader. If not Hillary, then McCain.

BoombaPUMA arrived in Denver last night, just in time for the awesome opening of Brad Mays “The Audacity of Democracy”. There was standing room only, with lots of press in attendance, filming and interviewing. A big night for PUMAs!

I just posted this comment on No Quarter:”I arrived in Denver Sunday evening to view some of the documentary films exposing rampant fraud in the caucuses, which by the way, is one of the tactics
that Obama supporters used in an attempt to lock down the nomination and short circuit the will of the American people thru one person one vote. Many foreign newspapers and journalists were here covering the story. If the American press is not interested, there are still some non-corporatists around. Also the Denver
airport had an abundance of quite garrish Obama T-shirts for sale in the shops and young BOTS at the baggage claim areas to greet and “enforce” the message for all arriving BOTS.”
