Sitting beside dances with pumas while mamapuma, patrick, and taffy unpack boxes of flyers and signs and set up laptops. Our Puma PAC HQ is humming. We are a half-mile from the Pepsi Center, right across the street from the Denver Police Headquarters. Dave, the world’s greatest landlord, had his guys washing our windows and glueing down the last pieces of carpet. The people of Denver must be the friendliest folks in the world.
I’ll post photos of the HQ later tonight.

Be careful… cause as I said… the rules are different in each state. So verify specific consequences for each state.
When I did check out the website Will had recommended some months ago — it confirmed my suspicions that the general consensus was that states must try to discourage write ins as being an effective voting choice. It seemed most states had rules that didn’t give this option a lot of weight. So be very careful if you don’t want your vote wasted.

THis is my first time on the blog, but I just have to said that you Hillary supporter holdouts, make be SICK. You say you are for women’s right, gay rights, anti-war, etc, but you are willing to sacrifice it all by voting for McCain. This election is NOT about you, or even Hillary, it is about what is right for the country. Whatever reservations you may have about about Obama/Biden, trust me McCain is a hell of lot worse when it comes to these issues. Those so-called women’s right you hold so dearly will be eroded under a McCain administration.
As a woman, I have lot of respect for HIllary and what she has accomplished, but enough already, she lost fair and square. I do not think HIllary even wants to be VP. Obama never made a sexist remark against Hillary, he always complimented her success as far as I can remember. However she did use the racist card remember “typical white person” comment. She did not lose because of sexism, she lost because Obama had more delegates and Obama simply out organized Hillary. Hillary had internal problems with her campaign as well as overspending which caused her massive debt.
Another problem I have Hillary is despite all her promises, I feel she still does not have her full support behind Obama. I gurantee her speech at the convention will be more about her and less about supporting Obama. Her since of entitlement is insulting. The Clinton’s egoes are as big as Texas. They fact of the matter is that the once powerful Cliniton machine cannot believe that had been beaten by this young, smart, virtually unknown black man, who out raised them, out spent them and out organized them.
If you are not a true Obama supporters or true Democrates, get out of the site, go to McCain site and give him your undying support and love. See ya.

To give you an example of how excited I am… let me say this… to me the end of the weekend and the start of Monday means that it’s a start of a new work week. Yes, I was relieved to hear Biden was the VP pick. I listened to Sugar and Patsy on NOQuarter radio the other night and they thought Biden might be BO’s worst possible choice. If you still can, listen to what they have to say.
The only reason I see for picking Biden is that he brings experience to the ticket (which BO sorely lacks). Thus, he just admitted to the fact that he isn’t prepared to be prez. BO/Biden is the opposite of Bush/Quayle though. Bush I was the one with experience (and thus on top of the ticket) and the inexperience but young Quayle, who supposedly appealed to the young, was the VP. Why have an inexperienced prez choice with an experienced VP? I guess the Dems are trying to emulate Bush/Cheney, but as a Democrat I certainly will never accept a faux president in BO.
Anyway, it’s like BO and the Dems want to lose.

Unfortunately, I disagree and am disappointed with this selection. It truly seems to run counter to Sen. Obama’s change agent message and campaign, and I’m sorry he seemed to “buckle” to the status quo due to the comments about his inexperience in foreign policy. Biden is old guard–and old at 65, how will he attract the “younger generation” and even baby boomers, such as myself)–and will not be a help to Obama’s campaign (and let’s not forget about his comments about Barack during the primaries). Obama has a stellar staff and they could have fought McCain’s assertions of Barack’s inexperience with a dynamic person (not Hillary)and strong ad campaigns. I think a very poor choice and huge gaffe on his part but not much can be done now.

Just a note to let all Pumas know that I just came on board after Maryland Puma went to DC. This has been really hard on baby puma and myself since her mother has not left her for this long. By Tuesday I will be pulling my hair out because she will be wanting her mother to come home. I am not familiar with Blogging and have been trying forever just to send James Lee Burke who is my very favorite writer from New Iberia, LA a blog and still have not succeeded. I do so wish that there was more that I could do to help and I wish I were more politically savy but you guys have forgotten more than I will ever know. Not a good idea and especially scary when Obama is the one picking which religious leaders are important. I hope this alone gives all the delegates pause to vote for Hillary.
Best to avoid Odohs, I think they bring out the worst in people. I know they can get rough, which is why it’s not worth it to deal with them, or check them out.

When I lived in California during the 60’s and first year of the 70’s, before I saw what was happening and moved north to Oregon, there were 13 prisons in the state. The police were scared, THEN.

My mother had an interesting take on the Biden situation and it might make for a good growl to show what hypocrites they are. Part of the Biden pick is to garner support from Catholics as he is one.
I can’t remember the politician she named but he was a democrat who kept advertising he was Catholic and pro choice, which the Church does not allow. Enough people wrote the Bishop that he informed the politician that if he was pro choice he could no longer identify himself as Catholic.

Telecommunication companies CAN bug their COMPUTER, CELLPHONES and LANDLINES with IMPUNITY, they’re immune from lawsuit that may arise from bugging.
NObama is thinking ahead, if the American people are foolish enough and make him the next President, he would sign an Executive Order to BUG so and so and there’s NOTHING this so-called EXTREME LEFTWINGNUTS can do. They’ve CREATED their OWN MONSTER, they would be the FIRST victim of their FOLLY.

I have exactly 10 minutes to write this.
It was a beautiful day here. I walked all over…took the LightRail into town. Checked Confluence Park where there is a meet and greet for Hill supporters on Monday. Found Cheesman Park, where The Rise and Pumapac and RHR are having their rallies. Found the Pumapac Den…great location…in an Hispanic neighborhood surrounded by Bail bondsman. The building they are in is completely rehabbed..they found it through Craig’s list. The owner is thrilled to have them there…the neighbors are all Hillary fans. I met Mama Puma, but Murphy was out doing errands. I’ll have to go back tomorrow.
I wore my pin and hat with another pin and wow!! People want to talk about Hillary…even Republicans like her. I ran into two women with Hillary shirts on. One is a delegate from Florida. Bad news is that what she got out of the delegate phone call is that what is going to happen on roll call is the states where Hillary has huge margins will all pass so Obama can get his win; then they will go back and let the other states vote..that’s why they are saying “symbolic.” Good news is that she heard 293 superdelegates were at this point switching to Hillary.
I am exhausted…I have to pay 10 cents a minute for this computer..thanks to your kind contributions I am able to email you..
I spotted where MSNBC/NBC are setting up a huge media location…right by the Light Rail station I used. I told Mama Puma this would be a good place to go with some signs…like boycott MSNBC, your friends in Asheville, NC…

Does anyone know how to get a hold of Alegre of Alegre’s Corner? Someone sent her a newsletter containing excerpts of materials I had forwarded of work related to my project on vote binding states. Now, people have questions; but they think the original information came from Alegre. And she cannot answer their questions.
I realize it’s not much of an excuse, nor do I really mean it as one, but I do apologize for my earlier…negativity.
I work, in a voluntary capacity, with young women who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, drug abuse, alcoholism, all kinds of abuse and suicide attempts. I’ve made myself available to talk to, to be a listening ear 24/7. And they take advantage of that. Since 3:00 this morning, I’ve spent nearly 6 hours with one or the other of them and sometimes I get angry over their stories.
This is not the proper venue for me to vent on.

In post 241 from Kendalblue, the email says that one of the delegates was told that the states that Hillary won will pass the roll call to the next state. They will only count the states the *61 won. When he has the delegate count they will go back and do the ones Hillary won. But I would guess they will just stop when he has enough. We will never know how it really turns out. On another site, a delegate said they would vote at breakfast, it does fit together. They will know how each state voted before the roll call takes place.
This really makes me sick and angry, but I don’t know what we can do about it.

I got to see the entire video last night and it was awesome… but it took me a couple of hours to wait for it to completely download (and I have a high speed Internet connection). I’m from Connecticut and am unable to write-in Hillary. If I do, my vote will go to BO as I’m still a registered Democrat.
If Hillary is not our Nominee, I plan to vote for McCain, as that would count for two votes against BO – one he didn’t get and the second for his opponent. I think I will vote straight Democrat, where appropriate so that we can have a strong congress to tie McCain’s hands insofar as appointing judges and passing unwanted legislation.

I did. The excerpts are from a primer explaining the difference between DNC rules and state laws. I want everyone to share this information, given the existing time constraints. As for the letters, these are state specific ; they only work in that state. (For the past few years, I have been working as a substitute teacher. This means, I am unemployed during the summer. I was supposed to be finishing a book I am writing that details how state officials illegally placed my son’s biological brother with foster parents instead of us; and how, when I discovered not only that they had misplaced him, but also that these foster parents were abusing and neglecting him, the state left him in the wrong home to cover up what they had done. My landlady said it’s a good thing I am not teaching yet or else I wouldn’t have been able to work in the campaign. She predicts I will get a job offer out of this, although perhaps this is just wishful thinking on her part!)

They were talking about Biden being a terrible choice. One guy said that if BO thinks putting Biden on the ticket is gonna win him the Catholic vote and the PA voters — he’s sadly mistaken. Michael Steele (I love that guy) said that he had many people approach him as soon as he arrived in Denver telling him that BO and his VP pick makes them sick. Michael went on to say that he thinks we can’t discount the power that Hillary will have at the convention. And when it was Bob Beckel’s turn — he started his sentence with “Well with the 7 houses that McCain has…” he never got to finish the sentence…. all of the guys at the table said “Again with the houses… bob you need to stop with the houses and they literally put there hands on his arm to signal to shut up and stop with that argument. The moderator guy said… let’s all calm down and stop with the houses thing. It was funny. Michael Steele was laughing.

No sooner had Barack Obama publicly announced his new running mate had John McCain’s campaign produced an attack ad asking: Why not Hillary?
“Passed Over” will hit the airwaves at (you guessed it) 3 a.m. Sunday. The timing is a reference to Hillary Clinton’s national security ad during the Democratic primary and the same time the Obama campaign sent out its text message announcing Delaware Sen. Joseph Biden as the vice-presidential nominee.
“She won millions of votes. But isn’t on his ticket. Why?” an announcer says in the 30-second spot.
The answer? “For speaking the truth.”
The ad, which has not yet been released, then ticks off a litany of criticism Clinton used against Obama in the prolonged primary, according to a transcript sent to reporters.
“You never hear the specifics,” Clinton says.
“On the Rezko scandal,” the voice says.
“We still don’t have a lot of answers about Senator Obama,” Clinton says in footage from the primaries.
“Senator Obama’s campaign has become increasingly negative,” Clinton says in another scene.
The announcer closes by saying “The truth hurt. And Obama didn’t like it.”
The ad is the latest sign that the presidential contest has grown increasingly personal. It’s also proof that the some times bitter battle between the two Democratic senators has provided useful fodder to the Republican opposition.
Both Obama and McCain are fighting to win over the 18 million voters who chose Clinton during the primaries.
Recent polls show her base of mostly white working-class women has not rallied behind the Illinois senator. McCain frequently praises the former first lady in an effort to woo her still undecided supporters.
“Passed Over” could strike a chord since many Clinton fans are upset that she was not seriously considered as Obama’s running mate. While most people considered the “dream ticket” a long shot, the Obama-Biden ticket still struck a chord among supporters and delegates who had held out hope that Clinton would be chosen.

Saw some posts about the possibility of states passing so Obama states can all vote in the roll call first. But, even if that happens, he still shouldn’t have enough pledged delegates to clinch the nomination. IF states vote as pledged delegates were allocated, neither candidate has the nomination. So, even if they backtrack to Clinton’s states, by then it still shouldn’t be a done deal for Obama. But then, nothing’s gone as it “should” this year and everything smells fishy and there is no trust, so as another poster said, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Hi jenni — Everything is great. Denver is a beautiful city — everyone is very friendly. There are a lot of homeless people though. I saw a woman with two small children who was obviously living out of her car. She was changing the baby’s diaper on the trunk. Makes me realize how despicable this whole charade has been. The ONLY candidate who would have done ANYTHING for the poor is Hillary.
For millions of Americans this stuff really MATTERS. Good government means the difference between having a home and living in your car with your two children.
It is a DISGRACE.

It also illustrates how shameful it is that all candidates spend obscene amounts of money for this election process when that money could be better spent dealing with the problems they promise to solve.
And in Obama’s case, it’s even worse. He vastly outspent Hillary everywhere he went, but she still got more votes per dollar spent. Hillary knows how to do more with less. So does John McCain, who came back from nearly being counted out to win his party’s nomination on a shoestring budget.
If Obama were elected, he’d spend so much money feeding his ego that we’ll all be worse off than we are now.

He would still be a man lacking everything except the resume of someone who should be investigated by the local, state, and national police force but for the DNC propping up this DIRTY empty shirt. The DNC has shamed itself, and for the first time in my life I am ashamed to be a Democrat. I will be voting Republican this year, straight ticket in fact, to state for the record that I am more than outraged–I have torn up my Democratic membership card and after this year I will only vote Independent and NEVER vote Democrat again. So as I was packing my stuff tonight a little bird whispers “Rush Limbaugh,” so I looked up Rush’s website. Which, being a lifelong Democrat, I’ve never promoted, and I’m not about to start now, so I will not post the link.
Nonetheless, DNC, take note: it’s pretty scary when the critics of the PRESUMPTIVE CANDIDATE – like Limbaugh & the book “Obama Nation” – don’t have to make things up to tear down your candidate!
Here are some excerpts from Rush’s site, these come from an article titled “Messiah Loses at Warren Forum; Dems Accuse McCain of Cheating”
I’m posting this because in the event we have any curious onlookers aboard tonight, or any newbies, look folks, these are the kinds of things the Republican Party, prime time radio is saying about the Democratic candidate!!
And the saddest thing being, my humble opinion, Rush, God love him but he’s an idiot – is right about what he says here. Folks the DNC must be in a total panic, or should be by now.
We PUMA”s have done the party a huge, huge service, in my opinion. Obama is set to lose, only Hillary can save the day…

RUSH: Yep, it was a disaster. It was a total disaster. It could not have been worse, and the thing is, everybody on Obama’s side knows that it was a disaster. That little forum they had Saturday night at Saddle Sore Church or whatever it is, I’m telling you, folks, I have so much to say about this. Now, Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life is a pastor. He’s a preacher. He’s sold 35 million books. He had this forum on Saturday night with both Obama and McCain. They got basically the same questions; Obama went first, which is something he’s not used to.
You know, in the debates you remember when Mrs. Clinton constantly complained that she got the first question and that allowed Obama to go second or after her, and she was a little jokingly whining about it. Obama drew the first hour as a result of a coin flip, and it was clear he knew he was out of his comfort zone, given the audience there. But despite that, he got several rounds of applause. But it was just a disaster in every which way you can think.
We learned more about these two people on Saturday night than anything the Drive-By Media has told us or that they have told us within the sphere of the Drive-By Media. This two hours was worth more than any presidential debate I have ever seen.
I thought Warren did a fabulous job knowing who his audience was, putting together his questions and the order in which they came, and then sticking to the format. In fact, he had to ask McCain some more questions because McCain answered his questions a lot more briefly and succinctly than did Obama. It was so bad, it was so bad for Obama that the kook fringe began a drumbeat Saturday night of accusing McCain of cheating! Now, McCain did not cheat. McCain was driving to the event when Obama was on, and when he got there, he was put in a secure greenroom. The rule was that the guy that went second was not allowed to hear the answers of the guy who went first, and McCain didn’t.
So the Obama disinformation about McCain hearing the interview, I mean, it’s priceless. We’ve got this little man-child that is being called The Messiah. He’s got this deeply ingrained sense of entitlement, and when it doesn’t go his way, it’s just cry-in-the-sandbox time. (sobbing)

This shows the ugly underbelly of news and leftist politicians having been roundly destroyed in that Saturday forum because Obama’s complete lack of substance and experience was impossible to conceal.
Now, back to this cheating business. There is no evidence of any kind that any cheating occurred. The evidence, in fact, shows that McCain was still driving to the event, that he was sequestered in the holding room when he got there. Both candidates were informed generally beforehand of the topics in advance.
So guess what? Yesterday morning on Meet the Press, David Gregory filling in, spoke with the correspondent Andrea Mitchell (NBC News, Washington) about the Saddle Sore Civic Forum, and Gregory said, “Andrea Mitchell, there was a pretty clear contrast between Obama and McCain.”
MITCHELL: Oh, absolutely. You know, there was crisp, immediate, forceful response by John McCain — clearly in a comfort zone because he was with his base — and Barack Obama taking a risk in going there but seeing an opportunity, and a much more nuanced approach. The Obama people must feel that he didn’t do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context because that — What they’re putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the Cone of Silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama.
RUSH: Now, she’s getting this from Obama people who are putting it on the Web, but they put it on there privately. So McCain has written Steve Capus, the NBC News president, a letter saying (summarized), “I want to sit down…” his campaign has, “I want to sit down and talk with you about this. You guys, you’re starting to look like MSNBC now on your real news network, and it’s time you sat down and talked about this, because this is just absurd.” Cover up for your guy’s lack of substance by accusing the other guy of cheating? This is just too rich.
So CNN carrying the water even Saturday night that McCain had cheated. So the Drive-Bys, again, are aligning themselves with the Democrat candidate. They kept pressing this on Sunday, on Sunday night, the anchor Rick Sanchez talking to Rick Warren, and the question: “Just out of fairness, look, this is CNN. We trying to be as exact as we possibly can. I just want it on the record. Of course there are going to be people out there who will say, ‘Well, if he wasn’t there like a half hour before the event started, well, what would have stopped him from watching an event that was on all three channels, on the radio? There’s BlackBerrys, the Internet. There’s everything else.’ I guess you don’t know and I don’t know whether he had the questions or not.”
WARREN: You know what? In the first place, we asked him. We flat-out asked him, “Did you hear any of the debate,” I mean, “any of the discussion?” and I trust the integrity of both John McCain and Barack Obama that they said they would abide by the rules. They knew the rules way in advance that I would not give them the questions. I did tell them all of the themes, and went through all of the themes, said, “Here’s the kind of question, the themes that I’m going to deal with.”
SANCHEZ: Yeah?
WARREN: “I’m going to probably throw out a question about economy, going to probably throw out a question about climate change,” which, by the way, I never got to, and a number of other issues.
RUSH: Look at how tough a job poor old Caroline Kennedy has. You know, she’s at the top of the list vetting Obama’s veep choices. How difficult must it be for her to find somebody less qualified than Obama? Every resume she’s looking at makes his look like a first grade report card! Seriously, folks. I mean, every resume she’s looking at makes Obama look like a total beginner, a neophyte. It’s gotta be a problem for them.

I understand your frame of mind completely and how it possibly reflected in your post.
It has happened with me, especially early on when I was so enraged at the “injustice” that had happened to Hillary and her being forced into a submissive position.
I can only imagine how difficult it is to stay “grounded” when working with others who have suffered severe trauma.
I am one of those women and I am learning a lot about myself and certain “triggers” I was completely unaware of from being in community on this blog.
I have been embarassed, on more than one occassion, having not thought before I psoted – and even more curious – had no idea of where it came from.
Thank God, others have shown patience – even though, I am sure, they were really curious about my personality – and reactions to different situations (some days – two extremes on same subject matter)
I will not go into the dynamics – but I understand today, more than before, that the stress of what is going own in this election – and just how cold-blooded the Obama campaign is regarding the sexism that has occurred – is far more damaging to our culture than he will ever admit.
Believe me, he knows, and for obvious reasons. He does not give a damn – as the end justifies the means.
P.S. Thank you for what you are doing… you are allowed some venting as far as I am concerned.
I think anyone that goes to a convention after this year should have to sign a declaration to go help paint a house, clean a yard, buy groceries for the homeless or shut-in, etc., etc. Just think how much that could have a city in a week’s time.

Since I switched my browser from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox, I don’t have problems anymore- it even blocks pop up adds.
My Brother has 3 kids and they were always getting viruses from all the weird sites they went on, but since I made him switch, no more crashes.
You have to remember not to use the Internet Explorer shortcut, and ONLY use the Mozilla shortcut, though.
I’d never use IE again, and Mozilla is free and only takes a few minutes to download.

But, let’s give Murphy and our other leaders a break here. They all just traveled – mostly w/o sleep the night before — to Denver to set up the office, pick up people from the airport, etc. etc.
We are a grass roots movement — definitely NOT a professional organization that starts movements and sets up rallys on a regular basis! Murphy and our other leaders are ordinary people who had passion about these issues and volunteer their time w/o pay.

I am so sorry you feel that way. I hope I didn’t say anything to offend you. You bring so much to us and this site and WE would all lose if you leave at such a crucial time. You are such a great source of inside information.
This is not an excuse, but Murphy has not been the only one doing moderation these past few weeks as she is working 23 hours a day (or close) and with three young kids, doing a documentary, setting up everything in Denver and overseeing it herself, blogging, radio shows, news shows, etc. she has had helpers doing the best that they know how to do. Also, I ask you to please remember, Murphy has only been doing all these things in the past 2 1/2 months. She is giving everything and more to keep the pac and us together. She was not an expert or experienced with any of this but she jumped in with 6 feet (okay, just two, but to her it probably feels like she jumped in with her life) and has learned alot but is still learning. The blogradio show tonight she totally missed and they weren’t too happy with how she has been responding to them (or not) but again, alot on her plate and it is all coming pretty fast. Her primary focus is making everything happen in Denver for a fair nomination for both candidates. I keep hoping she has HER VP pick ready to go as I believe it is going to be an uprising at the convention for Hillary.a

Hey all- I haven’t posted much before but I feel moved to comment.
I’m a Denver PUMA, working with the PUMAs from out of town. Since a few weeks ago I’ve been in contact with Darragh, receiving boxes shipped to my house (LOTs of boxes!) helping to find property to rent, informing Darragh (guess I should call her murphy here) of which areas of town are best for our purposes. Since yesterday I’ve been doing my very small part in helping set up HQ, picking people up at the airport, hauling things around.
I just have to stick up for Denver INRE the homeless. My city decided not to hide them, but to accommodate them for the convention and to try to disrupt their lives as little as possible. I know a few homeless people in Denver – I’ve worked with them and hired them myself.
The fact is that we do have good services for the homeless, but we haven’t been able to get all of them housed. Lots of cities have this problem. But they are all fed (seriously). Nobody goes hungry here. This is not an awful place to be sleeping outside most of the year. That’s why we have so many homeless.
I’m sorry that woman is homeless with two kids, but believe me, it is NOT because Denver is heartless about the homeless. Check this link: Denver homeless to see how many resources are devoted to the homeless locally.
Anyway, I know we haven’t solved this problem, but it’s not for lack of trying and it’s not for lack of compassion. And we chose NOT to hide the problem by driving the homeless out of town to make things pretty for the visitors and the TV cameras.
One last thing. Please do not equate Denver with the DNC. There are good people here and lots of Hillary supporters and PUMA sympathizers. I’m convinced that if we had had a primary instead of a caucus Hill would have won handily – people in my neighborhood, and in the PUMA HQ neighborhood, love her.
Denver is doing its best as a liberal Dem city to host this convention, and the city bid to host it LONG before the DNC handed the Dem nomination to Obama. It could still be the city where Hillary Clinton is nominated. The city can’t take credit or blame either way.
I’m glad and proud to have the PUMAs and the DNC in my city – you should have seen the fireworks tonight!

The timing of these attacks and “publicized” complaints are highly suspect and far more unprofessional (of the professed “highly professional”) than the charges being leveled against Murphy, in my opinion.

I had said earlier about the mayor trying to gather up the homeless in Denver. It was reported in the Post in July when I was in Colorado. Evidently, the city spoke up. Good for them. So glad to hear that you are helping out. Denver is a wonderful city. I’ve enjoyed it many times. I just think that the DNC should do their part instead of making it harder for those in the city (that includes everyone)

Thanks for the post! Thank you for all your help as well. You know what it is, the papers have been running stories about gift certificates to the hair salons for the homeless, and tickets, etc to different places. I do think it is a push to sort of clean it up, or at least the media is pushing it that way.
I have no doubt in my mind that beautiful Denver helps the homeless. I know there are homeless populations all over the country, and a lot of times, in some of the most beautiful and decent places in the country.

OH and that post criticizing Murphy was garbage. She missed a radio show. Big deal. Considering all she is doing I am not shocked she got her time zones crossed.
Ok, so Murphy didn’t make it over to the radio show. By the time she got her computer set up to blog, there would have only been 20 minutes left anyway. But it didn’t matter (well, ok, it didn’t matter much): we had 130 PUMAs in chat, and we had fun talking to each other. To me, that is a positive evening. PUMA PAC is way more than about one person, as Murphy is fond of saying.
As for the comments posted earlier today, I knew that they would be taken care of as soon as our moderators saw them, and I wanted to keep things positive and upbeat because if the positive PUMA members leave, then suddenly Murphy and Maryland PUMA have to deal with constant nasty posts.
I think it would be helpful if while they are in Denver, the moderators appointed someone they trust to be an additional moderator–mostly because they have more to do in Denver than moderate the blog, which is something that can be handled here, if you know what I mean.
I think another option besides outright banning for PUMAs who unintentionally break the rules could be post-by-post moderation (the moderators would decide when and if to lift any of their posts from moderation) for a time specified by the moderators. I think that would be a quite effective deterrent.

Good golly people. Stop with the slighting of people when you clearly do not know all the facts. Why do people on this blog always resort to inuendo and try to raise suspision about people who are only expressing their valid concerns without knowing the basis.
jbjd had a valid concern. One of our members made a blatantly racist ugly remark in the blog earlier today. It was not pretty. Many of us tried to have it remolved but it lingered for far too long. And at least one of our AA members stopped in, read it, and found it very disconcerting and then left. I can only imagine how she felt. I sure hope she returns after that, but would not blame her if she did not. The comment was very ugly and undoubtedly the person making it was not thinking clearly. But to many it was inexcusable. And comments about it has since shown up in at least one other blog location already and may likely show up in even more. Let’s just hope that we caught it in time before serious enemies of Puma PAC get their hands on it. The integirty of this blog is in serious question when these kinds of comments are made and are just more or less flippantly excused by other members.
So stop attacking jbjd please. Her complaint is valid and I for one cannot blame her for issuing it.

Sadly, he’d announced last night that he would not attend the convention. In my opinion, quite possibly taking a stance for the wrongs committed by the DNC and their entire process as well as last night’s VP decision. Of course, I don’t know for sure, but it’s just a hunch.
Hopefully our letters will convince him to jump on a jet and get down there.

The thing is that many of the homeless sleep and hang out in the city parks. We have a LOT of parks.
And many of the DNC events – protests, expos, tributes (like the Rise), are taking place in our city parks. This deprives the homeless of their places and their peace.
So the city has done some things to give the homeless population alternatives to get away from all the hoopla that is going on in “their” places.
It might look like we’re trying to “clean them up” but it’s actually a sincere effort to give them options to avoid the onslaught of 50,000+ visitors who are taking over their spaces.
And murphy! if I’d tried to do 1/10 of what she’s been doing since she got here, I’d have collapsed by noon today – no, noon yesterday. The woman is indefatigable. I couldn’t even get her to sit down and have a cup of tea this afternoon.
LOTS of fighting going on at Democratic BLOG…
I will do final prayer for the night that PUMA remain UNITED and LOVING…don’t let them tear us down and keep the faith!!

Well, as I was driving the documentary director and producer around this morning, we passed a homeless guy on a street corner who held a sign that said “Homeless Democrat.” So at least one of them has found a way to take it in stride!

A lot of them go south for the winter. The others sleep at the Salvation Army (they call it “Sally”) or at the Denver Rescue Mission, or some other shelter. On the coldest winter nights (below 32 degrees), many shelters adopt a “no one turned away” policy. They may not get a bed, but they are not outdoors.
I can’t say we’re perfect. I can’t say every homeless person gets shelter every time (I don’t know). I can say we do not ignore the problem and that we are probably more enlightened about it than most cities (I know this from talking to homeless people). I know this is by far NOT the worst place in America to be homeless.
Denver’s efforts to accommodate the homeless for the convention have been widely misconstrued.

I have not been on all day so I have been reading through all the posts. I have to say that when I read the two offensive, racial posts I thought I had read it wrong. I am new to PUMA and this is not the first time I have seen racial remarks being allowed. The “n” word was used just the other day in a slang way. I know that this person apologized, but what she does not realize is that when someone comes on to read this blog they are not going to get to that apology for awhile. We need a moderator that should be picking up on comments like these and taken down immediately. There is NO excuse for this. I am not African American, but I was highly offended when I read these posts. This is exactly what PUMAs are against. This entire election process has had race coming into question. We can not and must not allow it on this blog.
I think there are people who spend far too much time on the blog and don’t realize they are over tired and need to take a break.

We are PUMA family and because of that we should show respect for all. It’s not about judgement when someone expresses they take offense to something that is offensive. If we are not diligent to treat each other with respect we will have others leaving. I realize that our leader is busy and away, we are all adults and should not need to be moderated. We should be able to abide by the rules and respect one another.

Trish with all due respect I have to tell you this can be offensive to the many women who find quilting as a hobby and find much pride in their work. Again, I am pointing out that we MUST be careful about what we say. While I got a lot of laughs from you posting what the obots were saying, I have to say we in no way have stayed on focus today, and visiting their site and bringing to our blog their comments can in time cause us to make errors in judgement.
I only see this week becoming more tense and frustrating, so I am going to ask, no make a plea to you to limit yourselves to the blog. I myself and many others have admitted it has almost taken over our lives. Our husbands and kids are complaining of feeling neglected. We are exhausted, our bodies and minds are not fresh and we are going to make poor judgements. Take breaks, NOTHING is so earth shattering that the world will end if we don’t get it first. We must remember we have a life outside of this blog.

Thank you for deleting the horrible things that were being posted about our video. I was the person who came up with the idea in the first place to make a video so all the PUMAs staying home could be in Dever with the rest of our PUMA family. I was thrilled to help you with making it and was overjoyed to see the finished product. In saying that….I was nauseated last night when I clicked on to watch it and saw how not only the obots were commenting with such distaste but our suppposedly PUMAs were responding in bad taste. I did not want this video to be made so we could be attacked or so we could attack back. If thats the case then we should just go to their sites and act like them all day. I emailed Carrie today suggesting it be removed if this is what we have to endure with it up. I could not sleep last night knowing it was there with so much hateful remarks. I did not sign on for this.
PUMA stands for People United Means Action…I joined because I read for days and was impressed with all the positive things that were being done. PUMA has and will continue to do great things. I just feel I can no longer be a part of it on this blog. So as jbjd decided I too will let this be my last post.
Good luck PUMAs and may Hillary be the next President of the United States, and may we all be proud of the work we have done to help in some way to make it happen.

hillstheone thanks for the Rush Limbaugh article. I’m no fan of his but he sure hit the nail on the head with this. I agree with him 100% on the drive by reporting. The only time I listen to his radio show is when I’m driving and he is all I can pick up on my radio. Rush’s nasty remarks about Elizabeth Edwards turned me against him forever.
Nancy Pelosi is the reason (as far as I’m concerned) for the corruption in the Democratic primaries. Howard Dean is every bit as nasty and mean as the Rush Limbaugh’s in this country. I’ve always been curious how he became the DNC leader. I was thrilled when Pelosi got the Speaker’s job but have changed my opinion on that. She is starting to look more and more like a typical corrupt politician. She is no positive for women but just another corrupt politician. No wonder women like Hillary will never break that glass ceiling when there are women like Pelosi stopping it from happening.
My deepest respect for what PUMA is doing for the Democratic party. Hopefully, your group of great people will put Democracy back into the once great Democratic party. I’m one Democrat that is grateful for all your work and dedication.
