A Celebration of Hillary Clinton’s Historic Presidential Campaign! What makes this historical event special? It’s not just because it’s named after Maya Angelou’s famous poem “Rise,” but that it will also close with the lighting of candles to pay tribute to Hillary and all of her achievements, while also symbolically reigniting the flame of America’s great Democracy and Lady Liberty’s torch. Candles will Rise as participants at Cheesman Park and communities across the nation will recognize Senator Clinton’s achievements in one harmonious gesture of celebration. This will be a marvelous opportunity for those who worked on Hillary’s behalf and her supporters as well as all who believe in and appreciate our Liberty and Democracy to come together and enjoy an afternoon and evening of festivities. REMEMBER, AAAAA, Arkansas is one of the first to be heard for the roll call. This could get the ball rolling for Hillary. I just e-mailed and called each super and asked them to cast their vote for Sen. Clinton on the first ballot. They need to hear from us. Also, before you begin, express your sympathy for Chairman Gwatney’s death. Georgia Puma has posted that Chairman Gwatney’s wife will be going to the convention in his place. OK. As I prepare for How to Be Home During the Convention, I need a self care plan. Here’s what I’ve got so far. Any other ideas would be most welcome:
1. Don’t turn on the tv.
2. Continue to bug husband by asking, “What’s going on?” “Have they done the roll call vote yet?” “How does Hillary look?” “Are PUMAs getting any coverage?” Have they nominated the candidate yet?” “Who is it?” “What happened?” “What’s happening?” etc.
3. Play with the cat.
4. Blog here with fellow shut ins.
5. Pet the cat.
6. Know I should get out, take a walk, run errands, but can’t roam too far from home and the tv I’m not watching.
7. Breathe.
I need way more ideas. I’ll run through these in 7 minutes!
I was asked to contribute to paying her debt again. My reply was that, when I heard her say she was supporting Obama, she lost me. She’s a big girl with a whole lot more money than I’ll ever see and if she hasn’t learned to live within her means, she has no biz running this country. So it’s really hard for me to justify supporting her any further.

Re: Getting things rolling, I don’t know if they first go through each state and pledged delegates and then the SD’s vote, or if they go state by state with pledged and SD’s from each state voting at the same time. Does anyone know? If the former, then the pressure now would have to be applied to the pledged delegates from the A states in particular.

bobram – lobby delegates will fax letters to a SD’s in a state for a mere $5. their fax data base is updated and quite good. their e-mail data base, on the other hand, is a bit outdated and has a 15% return rate. as for pledged delegates, some have a spreadsheet of contact info, but only snail mail addresses. post: “HELP WANTED” at the top of your post if you need something and keep reposting throughout the day to try to get what you need. also, if you only need to correct a couple of e-mail addresses, do a search on line. you may be able to track something down on your own.

Think I might have answered my own question about voting order. I would assume (and if memory serves me correctly, which it doesn’t always!) the pledged delegates vote first. Think about it. Many times, a candidate will be the nominee simply based on garnering enough pledged delegate votes. The SD’s then become an afterthought. So, based on my logic (no actual knowledge), it seems likely that the SD’s would NOT vote with their state as each state is called in the roll call or else that would mean, in theory, that SD’s could tip things against how they would normally go if/once all the pledged delegates voted first. So, that’s a long winded way of saying, I don’t think it makes sense to focus on SD’s from “A” states. Pledged, yes. SD’s, no.

Plaza for singing, speeches, and band. The group has
worked so hard and has come up with a terrific platform. I will be watching (and praying) for you, dear pumas. Don’t forget to give a mighty ROAR! It’s amazing how we work together to defend our Constitution and our country. Pumas, vayan con Dios (God be with you).

Just spoke to Phil Berg. The judge DID not sign the TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) but all is not lost and Phil says to keep watching his website. The judge could have just dismissed the case but he didn’t. He did fax copies of the complaint to the Defendants but they have not been formally served. Phil is firm in his belief that XO is not a citizen. He had to take another call and said he was posting on his website later on.

An early and loyal supporter of Hillary Clinton, Stephanie inspired us all with her courage and her passion to stand up and fight for what she believed was the right thing to do. She was a tireless campaigner for Hillary — in Ohio and around the country. She made everyone she touched feel stronger.
Stephanie was one of our “recommended” candidates to support for November, and she was slated to be one of our special guests at our launch event next week. We are deeply saddened that Stephanie will not be joining us in Denver to share her infectious smile and move us with her passion. On Tuesday, we will pay tribute to our friend and after that we will continue to march down the path that she blazed for us.

The vp is a do nothing job. The veep can only do what the president allows them to. He (or she) will have no say in policy or cabinet appointments.

Just a thought — but what if there was a large public outcry in the form of many emails flooding the judge’s office in which we respectfully state our case that we’re tired of the judicial system overlooking the fact that this candidate does not meet the minimum qualifications of citizenship and we want the law to recognize this when appropriate to do so.
Would it be wise to consider such a prowl?

Begala and Carville said some Clinton backers will be angry.
(CNN) — Two prominent Democrats close to Hillary Clinton expressed frustration Friday over a report Barack Obama’s campaign never formally vetted the New York senator for the vice presidential spot, and predicted the revelation could further rile some of her most fierce supporters just as the party is set to kick of its national convention in Denver.
Longtime Clinton loyalists Paul Begala and James Carville, who have endorsed Obama’s White House bid, told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Friday a Politico report claiming the Obama campaign did not officially consider Clinton for the coveted position would likely further anger some Democrats already wary of the Illinois senator. Both Carville and Begala are CNN contributors.
The matter is even made worse, Begala said, by the fact that Obama himself suggested to reporters earlier in the summer that he would consider Clinton, saying his one-time rival would be on “anybody’s shortlist.”
“There’s two camps in Hillary land — there’s the peacemakers and the PUMAs — Party Unity My Aunt Fannie,” Begala said. “They’re still not behind Obama. Some of them are stirring up a lot of trouble. I don’t like it. I’m a peace maker. This story empowers the PUMA crowd because they see this, and I do too, as sort of disrespecting Senator Clinton and breaking Senator Obama’s word.
“It’s the one glitch in a beautiful process,” Begala also said.

I’m no legal expert, but I’m inclined to agree that the judicial process likely needs to churn its way along w/o influence, lest it appears, well, infuenced. But, who knows. Not sure if there’s anything to lose, but worth thinking through if there is. Attorney General Tells GA Delegates They Can’t Switch Their Vote At The Convention
I’ve confirmed with two members of the state’s Democratic National Convention delegation that Attorney General Thurbert Baker sent them a letter informing them that they could not switch their vote to another presidential candidate if they are a pledged delegate to someone else.
Two delegates pledged to New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Shannon Marietta of Dougherty County and Cheryl Williams of Gwinnett County, both said they received a letter from the Attorney General stating that they could not switch their vote until Sen. Clinton released them or she received less than 35% of the vote during the roll call vote.
The Attorney General’s letter cites an relatively unknown section of Georgia’s presidential preference primary law that states Any person selected as a delegate or delegate alternate to such national convention shall file a qualification oath with the Secretary of State pledging support at the convention to the candidate of their political party or body for the office of President of the United States for whom they are selected to support. The oath shall state that the delegate or delegate alternate affirms to support such candidate until the candidate is either nominated by such convention or receives less than 35 percent of the votes for nomination by such convention during any balloting, or until the candidate releases the delegates from such pledge. No delegate shall be required to vote for such candidate after two convention nominating ballots have been completed. [Source: Official Code of Georgia Annotated 21-2-196]
Both Clinton delegates said they planned on voting for New York’s junior Senator on the first ballot anyway.

Biden, who serves as chairman of the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, is not the only vice presidential prospect who was at odds with Obama on the May 24, 2007 war funding vote.

Dear Mr. Berg,
I salute you in your efforts in filing a suit to get an injunction preventing Senator Obama from continuing his candidacy, and a court order enjoining the DNC from nominating him next week, all on grounds that Sen. Obama is constitutionally ineligible to run for and hold the office of President of the United States.
I agree this action needed to be taken in your words, “to avoid the obvious problems that will occur when the Republican Party raises these issues after Obama is nominated.” Which we know will happen as soon as Senator Obama is officially elected the democratic nominee. It would behoove the courts to allow this travesty to take place when our democratic party is already in shambles and this country can not afford yet another embrassment such as allowing a non legal/dual citizen run for the office of president. Again if you will allow me to use your own words in expressing my feelings, you said it aptly and eloquently and I quote:
“Voters donated money, goods and services to elect a nominee and were defrauded by Sen. Obama’s lies and obfuscations,” Berg stated. “If the DNC officers … had performed one ounce of due diligence we would not find ourselves in this emergency predicament, one week away from making a person the nominee who has lost their citizenship as a child and failed to even perform the basic steps of regaining citizenship as prescribed by constitutional laws.”
“It is unfair to the country,” he continued, “for candidates of either party to become the nominee when there is any question of the ability to serve if elected.”
I as a legalized U. S. natural born citizen of the United States of America, I support you in your efforts. I can only pray the courts will swiftly comply to the injunction, so this matter can be dealt with before Thursday, August 28, 2008 in the event Senator Obama is indeed elected the official democratic nominee.

I was thinking a similar idea… that maybe if we can’t prowl the judicial system — maybe we should prowl the FBI or whoever is in charge of this so called national security system the Bush Administration supposedly set up? We should bombard them with emails demanding they investigate.
In the hours I couldn’t sleep last night I started to think of the amazing first ladies who occupied the White House, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie Kennedy,Betty Ford, Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton, then I thought Michelle Obama. That made my skin crawl. When did America or should I say the DNC lower the bar this low?

Just got a letter from John Mica, FL Repub member of congress. I had faxed him regarding whether XO was eligible to run for Pres. He said those rumors have been circulating for months and are considered hoaxes. He claims O was born in Hawaii two years after Hawaii became a state. He does not support him but said he has not seen evidence that causes him to question his eligibility to run. He also stated, that if valid, Sen. Clinton’s campaign or one of the other Dems running would have raised it.
However, I will not forget Bill Clinton’s answer” anyone can run if they are constitutionally qualified.” Nice to get a letter from a real person. I’m still not convinced.

(CNN) – Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama has ruled out Senator Hillary Clinton as his vice presidential running mate, a senior Democratic official told CNN on Friday night.
Clinton — Obama’s main rival during the primary season — has been informed by Obama’s campaign that she is not his choice to be his vice presidential candidate, the source said.
I just saw a video of George Obama. It is so very sad that Barack has not extended any help to his half brother who lives in a dirt shack. This is the man that everyone thought was good for USA ? Help me understand what is wrong with America. I am at a loss.
