We will have signs, buttons, stickers, t-shirts, and other goodies for you to take with you on your travels through Denver and beyond. At Puma PAC HQ we will also have food and drinks, nothing fancy – but enough to keep you refreshed and rested. Bathroom facilities and parking on the premises. Our Puma PAC HQ is where ALL of the info you need will be: schedules, maps, instructions, shuttle rides, supplies to make your own signs, etc. Plan to be here OFTEN during the week. MEDIA AND DELEGATES welcome at all times.

Audacity of Democracy Screening and Party, Puma PAC Media Loft, 8pm
This is an invitation only event for Puma PAC members, Puma Friends, members of the Press, and Delegates. We will be screening the latest installment of our documentary, The Audacity of Democracy, at 9pm – plan on arriving early – we will close the doors when we reach capacity. Cash bar and hors d’oeuvres.

Beautiful Protest and Rise, Cheesman Park, 4-10pm
In Commemoration of Hillary Clinton’s Historic Presidential Campaign! What makes this historical event special, isn’t just that it’s named after the Maya Angelou’s famous poem “Rise,” but that it will also close with the lighting of candles to pay tribute to Hillary and all of her achievements, while also symbolically reigniting the flame to America’s great Democracy and Lady Liberty’s torch. Hundreds of participants are expected to attend, and candles are planned to Rise across the nation, community by community, in one harmonious gesture of participation. There is no doubt that this will be a marvelous occasion for everyone who has worked on behalf of Hillary Clinton, as well as all her supporters/fans who just believe and appreciate our Liberty and Democracy will all have an opportunity to come together and enjoy an afternoon and evening of festivities. This is a free event and all Hillary supporters/fans are welcome. PumaPac activities in the park will begin at 4p.m. and run until 6 p.m. The Rise speakers and entertainment will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 10 p.m., with the national “Rise” candle salute to Hillary, Democracy and Lady Liberty to Kickoff in Cheesman Park at exactly 9:45 MDT.

FLORIDA HURRICANE: We are still getting heavy rain and it hasn’t hit us yet. It’s in Daytona Beach now but it’s due here very soon. Lucky for me, the area of the city where I live does not flood, although it floods in other sections. And Flagler Beach is definitely flooding big time with part of the A1A road starting to wash out. You would think that after all these years, rather than spend millions replenishing the sand, they would have moved the road over to make room for mother nature. I’m glad it’s not turtle nesting season.
Don’t know how long I’ll be online, our electricity keeps going on and off. I’m afraid when it hits, I’ll have none. Have been making ice and packing the freezer.

I participated in that survey when you originally posted it. I’m invovled in many environmental organizations while at the same time tend to stay away from those that take political sides. It’s a dissapointment to see the results, however, I hunch that most have yet to wake up to the truth about BO. The results were likely influenced from Gore getting behind him.

My boss lives in Jacksonville (I’m in the northeast) and texted him a ‘be safe’ message yesterday as he was flying back home from North Carolina. As well there are many colleagues from my company living in the middle of this storm. So I am keeping a close watch. The rainfall amounts are unbelievable. I read all of the posts and lurk most of the time; I am sending my blessings and positive energy to the Pumas that are traveling to Denver. Your good spirits and fight for all of our democracy will shine the light in Denver
I do belive that Hillary will be the precious VP pick because he believes that is the only way he will win and he is hunger for the power. It is her political career and the choice is hers; I hope that she refuses. If she accepts any postion in the WH I would hope that it would be on the side of JMC, I believe she has a friend there and it would display her flexibility to cross party lines as well as a opportunity to demonstrate her knowledge and experience. Precious would just use those qualities for his own benefit and keep Hillary in his shadows. Probably won’t happen Hillary has loyalty to her causes.
We have survived the last three days in the Tampa Bay area with just winds and no rain nor flooding. Ladyhawke and the rest of the Floridian Pumas I hope all is becoming well in your areas.
My heart is heavy with the news about the death of Stephanie Tubbs; it is a sad time in America. I know that we are all wishing and praying for a better tomorrow.

CJV- after being a devoted fan of CNN up until the end of the primaries, it was then since I have watched that news source and I have become more aware of their true biases. And, like CNN, I have become suspicious of how biased the pols are and that may very well be the case of the survey that you took on the environment. And the way Obama has been flipping on everything else, I imagine whatever he claims to have said is bogus as we speak.
Good morning and best wishes for all leaving for Denver… wish I could be there on this historic occasion… I still can’t believe.. stayed up so long last night because I still can’t figure out why people are so enamored of O… It is the strangest feeling I am having that there is more to this picture and we just haven’t found out what that is. How did he get the power he has? Something will come out. I just know that it is like an unknown entity that is so mysterious. To have had the media tied up, people mesmerized and Hillary and Bill back off? What is going on?

Sounds like you’ve planned a mini-convention out there in Denver. I’m sure all of you will be a success at projecting this movement and like others here I am concerned for your safety. I will be blogging from Ohio and watching the tube for the latest info and hope that I see the PUMA movement making a positive impact on the future of democracy and the US of A. God bless you on your paths of success. Thank you Murphy for your great leadership in this PUMA movement. Maybe you and Hillary oughta run on the same ticket.
I am about to be a first time grandma in January and I am going to submit your name Darragh as a pick for my first grandchild if it should be a little gal. That is such a pretty name and first time I ever heard of it. Then there was the Olympic swimmer, Dara Torres, who was also a wonderful role model. Darragh or Dara – I think that would be a beautiful name for a little girl. I’ll bet there will be a lot of little Darraghs walking around in this next generation! Anyway, Prayers and traveling mercies for all PUMAS and family and friends. God speed.

And I bet there was a sense of betrayal when the realization occcurred that the media rarely conveys the truth anymore. I feel most take information at face value as well, probably for many reasons. It may be an inherent trust (no realizations yet), lack of time, stays with one media source, etc. The media and all poiliticinas knows this and play on that.
I have been screaming about this for years! However, at the same time, in spite of my effort to be cautious. I still can get duped by those organizations that claim to work on our constiuents behalf. The one that got me was MoveOn. Org earlier in the primaries. Previous to that I followed them for quite a few years. Oh well! Better late than never. Just keep that mind open! Call me a skeptic, but I will gladly admit to errors on my part when I finally see the real truth.
I was skpetical when filling out that environmental survey, however, also felt that there was hope that at least one would read and think hard about my statements in regards to BO and begin to take the time to investigate more thoroughly, rather than blindly fall in line.
Murphy, just had to say, “THANK YOU” from the bottom of my heart for your vision and leadership! Without you we would still be baby PUMAS! Denver will never be the same!
Thanks also to MarylandPUMA, MamaPUMA and all the rest (too numerous to list) that have given your “gifts” and shared information so freely that in a very short time, our voices have been heard!

I’m a swing voter in a swing state and an Independent. I joined PUMA to help reform Washington, DC. The DNC was exposed as a corrupt branch of the government when it played with all the votes of the American people in the primaries. When I go into the polls in the general election, I want to have choices that the people have elected for me on the ballots. This didn’t happen on the DNC side. What bothers me the most, is the large amounts of money going into the election accounts of delegates/superdelegates. Follow the money trail “our votes were sold” and we can’t allow this to happen in America. If I want a corrupt America, I’ll vote for Obama. If I want “change”, I won’t allow my vote to be sold! I’ll help the PUMApac and others to make change a reality

Please, please, get those flyers out to college students. After the convention, we will need to regroup in mass for our next step in reclaiming our political party.

Here’s the latest: The plan now calls for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) to release her delegates next Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. That’s the day after her keynote address before the Democratic National Convention. That means delegates can do what they want during the Thursday roll call. Clinton herself will cast her superdelegate vote for Obama.
Clinton’s whip organization–still in place–phone conferenced Monday and Clinton hosted a delegate call Tuesday night.

Wow, I was trying to post a response to cjv at about 7:30am and lost my electricity. Not that bad outside now, this area is notorious for losing electricity during an ordinary rain storm. The wind is picking up, I went outside to the marsh to see how much water there was, it’s not full as it was really dry. The area of the city I live in does not flood although it floods in Flagler Beach and other areas around here. The road up at the beach is in danger of collapsing and it’s the City’s fault for spending millions to replace sand when they should have moved the road years ago. I’m not sure if the turtle nesting season is over as the nests would be in danger of being washed away. I fed the birds, woodpeckers and cardinals came, and also put out food for the marsh rabbits and squirrels. Also, saw a baby hummingbird all over my honeysuckle tree. I’m crazy but I love doing this!

(CNN) — With all of the vice presidential buzz in the air and the Democratic convention just days away, what’s most important is what Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign does following his speech to the masses at Invesco Field next Thursday.
James Carville says Barack Obama’s campaign wants him to be “cool and calm” but he needs to show outrage.
Quite simply, he needs to create a more compelling narrative on change, use history as a context for the economy, and get mad about something.
First and foremost, Obama must bring a narrative to his position as a change agent. You can’t simply seek change for change’s sake.
The argument must be made that this is an election with two choices: the change-seeking good guys or the status quo-clinging bad guys. The campaign needs to brand every negative attack by the Republicans as just another desperate attempt of the status quo clinging to power.
Obama’s campaign should argue that all of our political friends have the courage to break from the same old game in Washington in order to provide the change we need, while all of Sen. McCain’s friends in Washington refuse a new direction for America.
McCain keeps trying to claim he’s a “change Republican.” I don’t really know what that means, but Obama and his team must continue to highlight the “McSame” that he offers: more of the same failed Iraq policy, more of the same tax breaks for oil and drug companies, more of the same Swift-boat-style tactics, more of the same on education and healthcare.
And he certainly offers more of the same failed Bush economic policy, which leads me to my next point.
Obama can connect with voters on the economy by using history as a guideline. He should start by reading “Unequal Democracy,” by Princeton academic Larry Bartels. The non-partisan and non-political Bartels points out devastatingly after an exhaustive study of Democratic and Republican presidents that the Democrats built a better economy and a more just society.
The campaign needs to say that, since 1900, Democratic presidents have not only “won” but dominated on every economic front: GDP growth, employment, deficit and income equality. Need more? How about a better performing stock market and a more fiscally-responsible spending.
There’s no need to listen to McCain’s marginal rates, death tax, deregulation, trickle-down, supply-side shenanigans because historically Democratic presidencies have produced better economies. And with the economy still in the forefront, it seems like a no-brainer for Obama to talk about the historical supremacy of economies under Democratic presidents.
And my last piece of advice to Obama and his team is to just get mad about something. Obama’s campaign seems so intent on branding him as a “cool and calm” leader.
Well, voters want to see a sense of urgency and outrage in their president: Outrage over our dependence on foreign oil; outrage over our increased cost of living, health care and education; outrage over declining incomes; outrage over an endless war and an idiotic foreign policy; and outrage over our country’s loss of prestige over the last 7½ years.
To put it bluntly, Obama needs to get outraged over something other than “attacks on his patriotism.”
When all the dust settles after Denver, if Obama can do these things between now and November 4, he just may become President Barack Obama. No convention or vice-presidential pick will matter as much as connecting with voters on these key issues.

Rural slice of a big state tests Obama

RACCOON TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania: Wander up a gravel road and ask George Timko about Barack Obama and John McCain and he wrinkles his nose. Neither of those guys strikes him as a prize.
Timko is a burly fellow, with close-cropped white hair and a Fu Manchu mustache, and a gold necklace that rests on his bare chest. “Barack Obama makes me nervous,” said Timko, a 65-year-old retiree with a garden hose in hand. “Who is he? Where’d he come from? ”
As for Senator McCain? He shook his head. “He keeps talking about being a prisoner of war back in Vietnam: Great. The economy stinks; tell me his plan?”
To roam the rural reaches of western Pennsylvania, through white working-class counties, is to understand the breadth of the challenge facing the two presidential candidates. But this economically ravaged region, once so solidly Democratic, poses a particular hurdle for Senator Obama.
From the desolation of Aliquippa — where the Jones & Laughlin steel mill loomed at the foot of the main boulevard — to the fading beauty of Beaver Falls to the neatly tended homes of retired steel workers in Hopewell, one hears much hesitating talk about Obama, some simply quizzical or skeptically political, and some not-so-subtly racial.
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York ran ahead 40 percentage points over Obama here during the Democratic primary. With its enclaves of white working-class laborers and retirees and fraying party loyalties, it has become a most uncertain political terrain and an inviting target for McCain — and one that could tip the electoral balance in Pennsylvania, a place packed with electoral votes.
Labor operatives line up behind Obama, and about a third of the 35 white voters who were interviewed leaned toward him. But no one feels confident predicting how many white Clinton voters will transfer their affections to Obama.
Raccoon Township sprawls atop a hill in Beaver County, a 92 percent white and deeply blue-collar province. For a century it formed a stud in the Steel Necklace, a stretch of Pennsylvania and Ohio defined by belching steel mills and robust union wages. But as the mills shuttered, voters tipped Democratic by ever- narrower margins: Al Gore bested George W. Bush by eight percentage points in 2000; John Kerry took Bush by less than three percentage points in 2004.
Political scientists tend to paint Pennsylvania in broad swathes: There’s Philadelphia and its liberal-to-centrist suburbs; the middle of the state, which is rural, gun-loving and rightward leaning; and the western third, which, except for Pittsburgh, tends to hold ever-so-tenuously to Democratic loyalties.
The Center for Politics and Public Affairs at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in a poll conducted last week, found Obama piling up big margins in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but lagging in these working-class counties.
“This is not an easy land for any candidate, and you might say a black one has more trouble than most,” said G. Terry Madonna, the center’s director.
To what extent white voter concern has become a surrogate for racial anxiety is unclear..
Many voters talk of reading a stream of false and shadowy rumors purveyed by e-mail: Obama does not put his hand on his heart during the national anthem, he is a Muslim, he did not say hello to enlisted men in Afghanistan. Some disregard these rumors; some do not.
Obama is an Ivy League-educated lawyer campaigning in towns where an eighth-grade education and a sturdy back once purchased a good life. And he talks of soaring hope to people mistrustful of the same.
“People around here want pragmatic, practical language,” said Tina Shannon, the 49-year-old daughter of a steel-mill worker and a liberal activist. “They don’t want high-flown talk.”
This said, McCain quickens few pulses. Vietnam, where he served in the military and was held captive for more than five years, seems distant. And not all laugh at his commercials poking fun at Obama’s “celebrity” status.
Fifty yards down the gravel road from Timko’s home, Brenda Goff, 55, a pharmacy worker who describes herself as a “Hillary girl” but is fine with Obama. As for McCain?
“I don’t like his commercials — it’s like he thinks we’re stupid,” Goff said.
Issues might seem to break toward Obama. Only two of 38 people interviewed — most in random door-knocking — favored remaining in Iraq. ( Obama advocates a 16-month withdrawal timetable; McCain vows to stay until the war is won but suggests that he would have troops out by 2013.)
Few want a handout, but fewer want government to abandon them. A simmering hurt suffuses their words, a sense that neither hard work nor their unions could save them.
James Stanford, a retired and still heavily muscled steel worker, stood behind his screen door and spoke of a pension that evaporated. “Obama got one thing right,” Stanford said. “We are bitter here.”
John Sylvester, 76, remembers when you could not find a parking space in Beaver Falls. You danced Saturday night at the Sons of Italy Club and drank with Dutch Town and River Rat neighborhood boys.
Sylvester labored in a steel mill for 42 years. Then the mill owner declared bankruptcy. Now he was bent over a chipped fire hydrant, putting down a coat of yellow paint for $7 an hour.
His blue eyes were piercing beneath a white sun visor. “I got a little money in the end but nothing to speak of,” he said.
Decades of job losses have created a youthful diaspora — you can knock on many doors without finding anyone under age 45. Declining enrollments forced Raccoon Township to close its elementary and middle schools. Political wisdom holds that such fractures favor the Democrats.
But Obama does not sound like a sure bet.
“Obama’s very charismatic but if you listen closely, he hasn’t said a whole lot,” Sylvester said.
In Raccoon, Kelly Dobbins, a middle-aged factory worker, offered the same. “I’m like a duck in the water — I float there but underneath I’m paddling hard as I can go,” Dobbins said. “What’s pushing me toward McCain is Obama. Who is he? Where does he stand?”
Such questions hint at a cultural disconnect. Obama would invest tens of billions of dollars in retooling mills and factories to fashion windmills and solar panels. He notes that Denmark and the Netherlands have grown fat off the new energy economy.
But environmentalism holds little attraction in a county where soot-covered stoops and dirty rivers were accepted as an unfortunate tradeoff of a prosperous industrial age.
“Until people see a factory transformed, they really don’t put much store by this talk,” said the Rev. Henry Knapp of First Presbyterian Church in Beaver.
Still, two-thirds of Pennsylvanians surveyed in the Franklin & Marshall poll ranked the economy as their No. 1 concern.
Hookstown sits surrounded by emerald fields near the West Virginia border. White-haired Art Seckman stepped gingerly off his porch.
Seckman puts no faith in McCain. “He looks tired, and he’s gung-ho about war,” Seckman said. “I was a Hillary guy, but Obama sounds honest and he’s young and he understands the modern economy.”
He paused, and laughed, “Maybe, funny as it sounds, it’s time for a black man to fix this mess.”
For a century, Aliquippa formed the primal heart of Beaver County. There was the mill, the company store and the Italian Renaissance library built by the daughter of the mill founder.
Ethnic communities occupied each hill. Croats, Slavs, Italians, Irish and blacks worked, fought, and drank together. Now the downtown offers swaybacked homes and boarded storefronts, and rubble. Aliquippa is 35 percent black, the highest percentage in the county. Glenn Kimbrough, 65, with a silver-tipped goatee and a neat Afro, came out of the mills after 37 years.
Kimbrough is an Obama supporter but he would not hazard a guess as to how his white buddies will vote. He said economic disaster had exacerbated racial tensions. With the mills closed, the work force is resegregating.
Carl Davidson, a white friend and an Obama supporter, sat in Kimbrough’s living room. “My father voted for Edwards in the primary and now he wants McCain,” said Davidson, whose father and grandfather labored in the mills. “Without realizing it, he’s wrapped up in white-identity politics.”
Sorting out white-voter discomfort with Obama is tricky business. Most speak of unease with his newness. But one in five primary voters surveyed in the Edison/Mitofsky exit poll in Pennsylvania said race was a factor.
Ivan Stickles, a carpenter, worked on his motorcycle in his driveway in Hopewell. Stickles, 57, is not taking what he sees as a gamble on Obama.
“There’s this e-mail that he didn’t shake hands with the troops,” Stickles said of a false rumor. “I don’t have the time to check out if it’s true, but if it is, it’s very offensive.”
In Hookstown, Kristine Lakovich, 48, works the counter at Kiner’s Superette. She likes Obama, a preference she keeps to herself. “If you ask people around here, he’s not exactly the right answer,” Lakovich said. “People are split between their politics and their prejudice.”
Nationally, the Obama campaign shies from talk of race, preferring to argue that the poor economy will dominate this election. Such delicacy holds no purchase here. An organizer with the United Steelworkers met with 30 workers in Beaver. He could not have been blunter. Obama, he told them, stands for national health care, strong unions and preserving Social Security.
“Some of you won’t vote for him because he’s black,” the organizer concluded. “Well, he’s a Democrat. Get over it.”

For Obama, August is the cruelest month

WASHINGTON — For Barack Obama, it’s been a lousy August.
The Illinois senator returned this week from vacation in Hawaii to discover that, while he was body surfing, Republican opponent John McCain was stealing a march on the race for the White House.
The Arizona senator exploited Russia’s invasion of Georgia, concerns over rising fuel prices and his opponent’s absence to take the lead in the presidential contest, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released yesterday.
The poll, which had Mr. Obama ahead of Mr. McCain by seven points in July, now has him trailing by five, 41 per cent to Mr. McCain’s 46 per cent.
More ominously for Mr. Obama, Mr. McCain now holds a nine-point lead, 49 per cent to 40 per cent, on the all-important question of which candidate could best manage the troubled U.S. economy.
“It’s not what [Mr. Obama] expected, going into his convention five points down,” Mr. Zogby said. “And it puts additional pressure on him to make a good choice” for vice-president, “and then to define himself and McCain with a rousing speech” at that convention, which begins Monday.
Basically, it’s been all downhill since Berlin. Mr. Obama’s overseas tour, which culminated in a rally attended by 200,000 ecstatic supporters in Germany, left Mr. Obama comfortably ahead of Mr. McCain, who was in the midst of reorganizing his campaign team.
That new team is now led by Steve Schmidt, a protégé of Karl Rove, George W. Bush’s election-strategy guru. They set to work sharpening Mr. McCain’s message, and sharpening their attacks on Mr. Obama.
They portrayed their Democratic opponent as an elitist celebrity, out of touch with the concerns of the working Joe and Jill.
The Republicans derided Mr. Obama’s resistance to increasing offshore drilling, even as oil and gasoline prices sent American drivers into shock.
Mr. McCain used the unfolding Georgia imbroglio to emphasize his deep background in foreign policy and his tough anti-Russian stand. (He wants the country kicked out of the G8.) And on Saturday, when both candidates appeared sequentially for a question-and-answer session with mega-evangelist Rick Warren, most observers thought Mr. McCain’s responses were strong and clear, while Mr. Obama committed the unforgivable political sin of attempting nuance.
The results, for the Republicans, have been gratifying. Other pollsters haven’t reported a reverse as dramatic as Mr. Zogby’s, but all see the race tightening.
A Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll, released earlier this week, has Mr. Obama two points ahead, 45 per cent to 43 per cent. But that’s within the poll’s margin of error, and a far cry from the 12-point lead Mr. Obama enjoyed in that poll in June.
And Mr. McCain is now leading, although often by the narrowest of margins, in several key battleground states, including, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Indiana and Colorado.
Mr. Obama, in response, has been ratcheting up his attacks on Mr. McCain. The campaign has been surreptitiously introducing attack ads into battleground states without alerting the media, the strategy being to earn a day or two of uncontested airtime before the Republicans learn of them and counter with ads of their own.
That’s how closely each side is monitoring and responding to the other in this hair-trigger election. As Mr. Zogby observes, August has often been a bad month for Democrats. It was in August, 1988, that the Republicans successfully launched the Willie Horton campaign that suggested Democratic challenger Michael Dukakis was soft on crime.
In August, 2004, the Bush Republicans swift-boated John Kerry, torpedoing his war-hero narrative.
This election, the Democrats are determined not to let the Republicans bring down Mr. Obama’s brand. As the polls narrow, Mr. Obama has been countering aggressively, campaigning on economic issues even as he released a tough new ad accusing Mr. McCain of neglecting the needs of working families.
Another ad, to air today in Atlanta, exploits Mr. McCain’s very tenuous connection with Ralph Reed, a disgraced fundraiser who invited himself to a McCain event before being uninvited by event organizers.
The Obama camp has been pushing the limits in its efforts to link Mr. McCain with Mr. Reed.
“For 26 years in Washington, John McCain’s played the same old games,” the narrator accuses in the Obama ad. “We just can’t afford more of the same.”
What all observers are wondering is how the never-before-heard-of convention schedule will influence the contest. Traditionally the conventions have been held earlier in the summer, and a couple of weeks apart. Now they’re back-to-back at the end of August and beginning of September. And neither candidate has announced his choice of vice-president, though Mr. Obama is expected to reveal his any hour now.
After the two conventions, the polls are expected to shift in favour of one of the two candidates, as voters assess which message resonated with their own values. Those polls may or may not shift again after the three presidential debates. (The first is on Sept. 26 and the last on Oct. 15.) So there is plenty of time for the Democrats to reverse their August slump. Nonetheless, for Mr. Obama, it must seem like forever since they loved him in Berlin.

After publishing a story on the Bill Gwatney murder in Arkansas last week, new information surfaced in an email to TheCityEdition.com. On the day before the killing, Gwatney may have told the group petitioning DNC delegates for Sen. Clinton’s name to appear in a
roll-call vote that he would sign on to the drive. Evidently he is the only state chair to do so, Most other members of the Arkansas delegation were also indicating to organizers they would support her.

So the timeline goes like this: 8/12 Gwatney agrees to back Clinton nomination – 8/13 Gwatney shot – 8/14 DNC announces Clinton will be nominated.
In addition, on Tuesday, Little Rock police announced that the keys found in the killer’s home attached to Gwatney auto dealership keychains were old and did not fit anything, suggesting that this might have been diversionary, if not planted, evidence. The article

I’m a swing voter in a swing state and an Independent. I joined PUMA to help reform Washington, DC. The DNC was exposed as a corrupt branch of the government when it played with all the votes of the American people in the primaries. When I go into the polls in the general election, I want to have choices that the people have elected for me on the ballots. This didn’t happen on the DNC side. What bothers me the most, is the large amounts of money going into the election accounts of delegates/super delegates. Follow the money trail “our votes were sold” and we can’t allow this to happen in America. If I want a corrupt America, I’ll vote for Obama. If I want “change”, I won’t allow my vote to be sold! I heard on FOX this morning, and just saw on the CNN website that the DNC is charging a commission to make changes in the primary process. They want to change the date calendar, decrease the number of superdelegates and work on the caucus system. This is huge news!
But, too little too late for 2008.
What is it they say…the best defense is a good offense. Obama and company know that the voices of the PUMAS are being heard across the nation, and picking up steam. Obama’s numbers are going south, and, most importantly, PUMAS will make their presence known at the convention. They have to know that the media will be reporting on our efforts to unleash the finer details of corruption and money changing hands — all in order to bring Obama to the forefront.

Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Barack Obama attracting 45% of the vote while John McCain earns 42%. When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 48% and McCain 46%.
The race has been amazingly stable in recent weeks with the candidates staying within a point or two of each other every single day. A batch of polls from other organizations yesterday confirmed the tightening of the race that Rasmussen Reports first picked up several weeks ago. One of the advantages of daily tracking is that you are able to more precisely measure when changes in the race take place rather than relying on a once-a-month update. Currently, a couple of other polls show McCain ahead and a few more show Obama with the lead. That’s exactly the distribution you’d expect to see if Obama is up by a point or two.

Last week, Senator Obama and Senator Clinton made an announcement that will allow the historic participation in the primary season to be shown at the Denver convention. The achievements of both candidates and the number of people who supported both candidates will be on full display in Denver. I fully expect that pledged Clinton delegates from Indiana will vote for Senator Clinton, but will also, like Senator Clinton herself, support Senator Obama to be the next President of the United States.

Barack Obama leads John McCain by five percentage points in Pennsylvania for the second month in a row. Both candidates have lost some support from a month ago, with the Democrat now favored by 45% while his Republican opponent earns the vote from 40%.
When “leaners” are included, Obama’s lead is down to just three points, 48% to 45%. A month ago, Obama led by six when leaners were included.
The data in Pennsylvania reflects patterns seen elsewhere in recent polling. McCain has more support from Republicans than Obama does from Democrats, and McCain also wins more crossover votes from the other party. The two candidates are even among unaffiliated voters.

The planning for Denver has been phenomenal. It’s really astounding when you think how far we’ve come in such a short time and what we accomplished! Be safe in Denver and have an empowering time there. Be prepared to counter any move by the other camp to make it appear that we are disruptive and anti-democratic, re: staged incidents made to look like they’re done by Hillary Clinton supporters. I hope there are thousands of us there. I’ll be glued to C-Span cheering every time they show us or mention us.

The BO campaign is claiming fundraising of $54.2 million for July. However, that does include $12.55 million in transfers, essentially from the Obama Victory Fund. The campaign actually brought in $37.8 million and spent $57.2 million, with a negligible change in debt. He closed with $65.8 million cash on hand (COH), down $5.9 million from last month.
The DNC brought in $7.3 million and spent $9.5 million, with transfers in and out and a net effect of transferring in another $7.3 million, essentially from the Whitehouse Victory Fund and the Obama Victory Fund. They closed with $7.7 million COH, up $3.2 from last month.
The Whitehouse Victory Fund was pretty well cleaned out, bringing in $1.1 million and transferring out $9.1 million. The Obama Victory Fund brought in $33.4 million, spent $1.3 million and transferred out $16.05 million. The net effect was to raise the total Victory funds from $15.9 million COH to $24.0 million COH, up $8.1 million from last month and move the funds from the Whitehouse Victory Fund to the Obama Victory Fund.
The Obama/DNC COA actually dropped by $2.7 million so most numbers you will hear include the amounts from the Victory Funds to show an overall gain of around $5 million in cash on hand.
Hillary Clintons Financials are a bit more elusive and I will discuss them in a future post. It is mostly complicated by Hill PAC and Friends of Hillary Funds.

I have found a residence wich can hold any number of people, 3-6, actually, for the price of 50 dollars per person per night. Apparently they are HRC supporters and thus we get a “bargain” rate. Heh, if you ask me, the Coloradians are making a killing!
But, that is neither here nor there! The price is true, as I’ve been searching for days now! LOL This situation has a two large and real beds, two rooms, plus a kitchen area and private bathrooms and entrances.

I keep seeing a lot of speculation on VP prediction. I will say this once again. I do not think Obama will ever pick HRC. Do not worry about this and even if he did I know HRC is too intelligent to accept such an offer.
But more importantly I think you underestimate BO’s arrogance. I believe he takes great pride and joy in putting HRC “in her place,” — which is how I picture BO thinks of her. So here’s my prediction. I think he’s not only arrogant enough to dis her by not picking her — I think he’s arrogant enough to dis her further by picking Sibelius (ignore my spelling if it’s off).
BO knows that picking Sibelius will not only piss off HRC but also the Clinton supporters and I predict he’s arrogant enough to want to do that. If I’m correct… remember you heard it here first.

Good luck to everyone going to Denver! I’m praying for you and sending you good karma. I’m envisioning a good week for all of HC’s supporters and in my mind I will keep replaying the image of HC accepting the presidential nomination. I’m actually surprised that I’m doing this, as I am not that “new-agey” or very religious, but that’s how strongly I believe that HC needs to be the Party’s choice.

We only raised 2.5 million in July? That just doesn’t sound right.
It would seem that Obama is ahead of us in that he has a process in place to try to change the rules, and the election process, eg. superdelegates;while PUMA’s seem to be attempting to restore rules that have already been in place, but usurped by Obama.
Am I correct in this? And, if so, might we not be putting defenses against Obama’s offemnse in place before his political machine just runs over all of us?
I have a question for anyone that knows the answer, if the pretender were to ask Hillary to be his VP:
1. Could she delay her answer until after the nomination voting?
2. If for some reason she accepted his offer before the voting, could there still be a vote for her or would that make it invalid?
3. Would she have to turn his offer down to be placed in nomination?
If #3 above is true, he could offer her VP to try and stop her from winning the nomination?
Anyone a lawyer or knowledgeable on the issue?

I was on Riverdaughter’s site the nite Party United My Ass was typed (who knew) and that is how I came to sign up on your site on June 5…………………
Little did I know on that day what was to come…..for some reason (old age maybe) I forgot what women can do when we set our minds to do something……I am truly proud of you and all of the PUMAs (both male and female) for what we have been able to do – amazing what a little group of 12 or so can do huh?

Hillary’s Debt….There was so much misinformation put out about how much we raised. Unfortunately, people stopped giving because of this impression. So much for BO’s donors helping out. Anyway, I know we are all tapped out, but we need another fundraising push.

If BO and HRC win the Party’s nominations for POTUS and VPOTUS at the nominating convention, their names will be submitted in every state to get onto the general election ballot. After that, even if either one of them changes his or her mind about accepting the nomination, the ballot remains unchanged. So, even if the candidate at the top of the ticket decides he or she rejects the name of the VPOTUS who won the party’s nomination; and could sway supporters to support that rejection; the only way to vote for the nominated POTUS but not VPOTUS would be to skip the option of voting for the pre-printed POTUS/POTUS and write in the name of POTUS/VPOTUS on the ballot in states that allow write-in votes in the general election. Or vote R; or do not vote.

As I have stated in several past postings, the DNC is a private club; they make their own rules. You don’t need a lawyer to protest their breaking the rules; these are their rules. They wrote in the use of discretion throughout their charter. This means, even if they engage in conduct that looks to you like it is against their rules, this doesn’t mean it is against the rules. It means you don’t like the way they exercised their discretion.
The only purpose of a major political party’s nominating convention is to choose the candidates whose names the party wants the Secretaries of State in each of the 50 states to print on the general election ballots. And the deadline to submit these names onto the ballot – through the state party chairs – differs in each state. Generally, this time limit is from 24 hours to 1 week after the nominating convention.

the only peeps allowed into the convention hall will be those who are credentialed – ie: delegates, super delegates, dnc members, etc. you can bet your last dollar that security will be extremely high.

Hi Pumas – a lot of the problem with Hillary’s debt is – you are only allowed to donate 2,300.00 – I believe quite a few of her supporters reached that amount and could not donate anymore than that – I don’t have the kind of money to donate 2300 although I have reached about 300.00 I think – not sure. What needed to be emphasized was that – all of the rest of us who were little donors – needed to be able to donate enough to make up for the donors who were maxed out
However, we weren’t able to get the info we needed to convince everyone to donate – even if it was only a dollar or five dollars – and to get that information out to everyone…..I donated on Hillary’s site & when we sent the thank you cards to HIllary I was under the impression that everyone was putting in at least a $1.00 but it turned out to be mostly cards with no money………………………

Yes I remember the July 4th weekend because i had received a message from Hillary about retirng the debt and was planning to send $100 but when I heard about the symbolic $20.08 campaign I sent in $80 earlier in the week and on the night of July 3 I tried to donate $20.08. I remember on this blog everyone being concerned about where the money was going – was it going to the Senate race, to Obama’s campaign? On Hilary’s site when I tried to donate, the small print that claimed that the contribution will be used to pay down the debt was not there – it was the old wording. I went back to the email message link which 2 days earlier had linked me to the pay down the debt page and it too was directing me to the old message. I wrote frantic messages via every avenue I could think of and left a voice message at the Virginia office. But somehow the very night we would all be trying to make the July 4th contribution something in the link changed. I remember all this but do not remember how it was resolved – but I did get my $20.08 in to the correct link in the end. Perhaps they changed it back the next day – there was so much confusion. I just cannot believe this.

Thanks to each and every wonderful soul who is going to Denver. You are all making innumerable sacrifices to do so and you have my utmost respect and support.

No, I cannot recall but it was not a long period of time. I had relaxed about this because I was so sure with the reports of $6 million etc.. that the debt would be paid down by now. People did not know that it hadn’t been paid down after that announcement. Even my husband, who will no longer watch the networks on TV but who keeps up with statistics of the election and polls and all sorts of articles that he copies for me to read, thought it had been paid down. I was flabbergasted. You can tell that I have spent too much time doing my part for Hillary and not enough time talking with hubby – we discuss politics all the time but I guess the debt was not mentioned lately. My point is that there are a lot of people out there who either relaxed, thinking all was well, or just did not know. I will post if I can find the information.
Well, I actually think it might happen. I heard it I think on Ed Hale’s show or blogtalkradio and the person said the DNC (probably credentials committee, can’t remember) had received around 75 complaints which apparently they thought were alot. After people heard that, alot more letters went out also to get her status stripped. It sounded pretty serious as she would go to a delegate meeting and then go on CNN revealing information that she really shouldn’t have saying.
Will have to see. She is an SD but doesn’t hold an office so it might be easier to kick her out. I am guessing they are handling at the cred. mtg before the convention starts.

PUMA Spirit for Hillary in Boca
Well, I did it. I went to Hillary Clinton’s rally for BO in Boca Raton, Florida and I brought some PUMA spirit. I have this purse that I know has a kitchen sink in it. I just have not found it yet. I put a “Hillary for President” sign in it with a verticle banner that said, “PUMA”.
They did not allow signs there but since I did not ask, I did not know. First, I held up the president sign a few times to test the water and then I attached my PUMA banner and held it up real high (I’m tall) several times. A very nice lady did come and tell me about signs not being allowed so I put it away.
I do believe it was noticed and I talked to some nice reporters about PUMA. Since I am very introverted, this is all very traumatic and would not have done it for anything less than the love of my country.

Is there an EXPERT among us who can understand this? Looks to me as though she had approx $26+ million at the beginning oj July. The Democratic presidential candidate told USA Today on Thursday that he went with someone who is independent and would challenge him in the White House. He wouldn’t say whether he’s informed his pick yet. He says he won’t reveal anything else about the decision until he announces it.

Dr. Mark Thrun, Colorado alternate delegate to the Democratic National Convention. I had dinner last evening with a huge Hillary supporter and local organizer. If my two Obama yard signs were not enough, then the Obama pins scattered around the house had the potential for once again igniting the debate over who should have (should?) get the nomination.
Yet, there was no debate. There were no arguments. My Hillary friend has become an organizer for Obama. We spent the evening discussing details of his get-out-the-vote efforts for the Labor Day weekend.
He was surprised that I had thought there would be debate. In politics sometimes your guy wins and sometimes he doesn’t. In this case, he could not fathom not helping Obama. His gal had lost, but it was time to move on. The country needs repairing and Obama is the man to do it.
It appears though that, unlike my Hillary organizer friend, many Clinton supporters still need closure.
By announcing last week that Hillary’s name will appear on the roll-call ballot alongside Barack’s, Democrats have seemingly opened a can of worms that could potentially eat a hole in the party’s Unity plan. Many believe that this move will prolong the division that arose following the long and tumultuous primary process.
In contrast, this move might just be the catharsis needed to move the party forward. Hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of ardent Clinton delegates will be given the opportunity to openly stand behind the nominee that they were elected to support by their friends and neighbors at hundreds of congressional and state conventions.
Hillary herself has been clear that she stands behind Barack. Allowing her “18 million cracks in the glass ceiling” to be seen and not just glazed over will hopefully bring closure to an historic and monumental nominating campaign. Once being heard clearly, the vast majority of these supporters are likely to stand behind the Dem’s official nominee.
Could the decision to allow this vote be simply a choreographed attempt to heighten interest in the Democratic Convention? Possibly. Could it be that Pandora’s box will be opened through this process? Perhaps.
Will this help bring closure to the primaries and allow the Democratic Party to focus on electing a new president that will bring hope, reform, and change to the White House? It must.

Investigation into Obama’s citizenship.
I heard a few days ago, from Momma E about the investigation into the citizenship issue. We knew that at least one lawsuit was filed, but to me, I think the question was when it would happen and whether they would stall on taking action about it. This was on the record from his Catholic school registration which an AP reporter over a year ago had seen and never published the info. The document is authentic. There is also a question about his name. There is also a question that he lied on his law school application and/or to the state of Illinois of whether he had other names other than Barak H. Obama. Documents show he also used the name Barry Sotero at one time. His birth records are selaed so maybe now they will be unsealed.

They infiltrate on line cancer support groups, they con people out of vital information, they exploit those they see as vulnerable for any number of reasons, sometimes to great detriment. At best, they yank people’s chain.
Be discerning consumers. I usually go with the need for evidence + intuition. But, I know that my intuition may not always be best when in doubt, since good con artists are good precisely because they know how to appear “sincere”, etc.
So, I say, always default to evidence when in doubt or when more is at stake than simply having your chain yanked.

At best, they yank people’s chain.
Be discerning consumers. I usually go with the need for evidence + intuition. But, I know that my intuition may not always be best when in doubt, since good con artists are good precisely because they know how to appear “sincere”, etc.
So, I say, always default to evidence when in doubt or when more is at stake than simply having your chain yanked.
