Forty-five years later, he supported his long-time friend, U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton, the former First Lady, for the Democratic nomination for POTUS. Supporters of her opponent, Senator Obama, harassed by for taking sides with this white woman over him. Regardless of whether Senator Obama takes the nomination, his supporters, angered he wasn’t always on board, have targeted Representative Lewis in his bid for re-election.

Assured by these same zealots they would support her opponent, Representative Tubbs-Jones remained loyal to her friend. Only after the primary elections were over, when Senator Clinton indicated she would now support her opponent (back then he seemed likely to be the nominee); did Ms. Tubbs-Jones switch her endorsement to him, too.

I sent money to her campaign.

I have found a residence wich can hold any number of people, 3-6, actually, for the price of 50 dollars per person per night. Apparently they are HRC supporters and thus we get a “bargain” rate. Heh, if you ask me, the Coloradians are making a killing!
But, that is neither here nor there! The price is true, as I’ve been searching for days now! LOL This situation has a two large and real beds, two rooms, plus a kitchen area and private bathrooms and entrances.

TOPIC: Free Speech Zone – Knowing our Rights

Re: changes4me’s post about the “Free Speech Zone” in Denver.

I won’t comment on that directly but rather wanted to mention I’ve a call into my attorney about rights of demonstrators and the law in the state of Colorado. All of us attending the Denver will need to abide by the state of Colorado’s laws, which I’m guessing aren’t any more stringent than any other state’s.

Usually, I hear back from my attorney (Pre Paid Legal Services) on the same day that I call. I’ve been a member for almost 10 years and this is almost always the case. So, I thought it odd that I didn’t hear back today.

My Best-Guess is that the attorney is really studying up on everything he / she needs to advise me. When I hear back tomorrow I will post it all here. Also, while I hope I don’t need to I can call this attorney any time of day while in Denver so that’s a good thing (hey, hang w/me, at least I’ll know y(our) rights!).

Just wanted to get the word out ahead of time for any PUMA’s going to Denver who might want to check back in tomorrow! Stay tuned…

I read the story but don’t know enough about Politico to know if that is a spin. I can’t imagine that HRC thought that would be a problem with her delegates. BOs delegates could definitely be a problem for HRC.

I understand, just know that we all understand how important your being part of Denver is and we will need the support of all of you here if things get crazy there. A tiny part of me is trying to prepare for the psychodrama that may come if Hillary’s delegates step up and all the hopes of precious supporters are dashed. Then PUMAs should get the h@ll out of Dodge quickly. If things go poorly for Hillary, we will come home in a very depressed state and the blog may be difficult for a short time until we pick each other back up and continue to steam roll over Obama.

It is very gracious of you Murphy to thank everyone. I don’t feel I need thanks. When it became clear that Hillary would not be the nominee, I was angry, upset, disillusioned, and sad. I had no one and no place to turn to. I found friends and a place here. It is thanks to you that I didn’t have to sit and fume silently. If Obama had any true confidence and courage, he wouldn’t have had to resort to subterfuge like he has. He basically presents a facade, behind which lies a very insecure, codependent personality. He HAS to pick a VP who is stronger than he is to maintain the facade when he falters himself.
That’s basically the difference between his personality and McCain’s. Also a man’s wife says a lot about the man himself. Cindy complements McCain and together they present a picture of unity. Whereas Obama act afraid of MO (who could really blame him?), which is why he always acts as if he has to constantly ‘prove’ himself worthy.
Tonight, Obama said he would be in charge of Foreign Policy, not his VP or any other member of the Executive Branch. Now there’s a scary thought. He can’t even make a definitive statement concerning abortion or when life begins.
God help us if he is elected!!!!

Unfortunately, in Houston TExas the gay lesbian bi transgender group voted to support BO. One of the head guys privately told me he could NOT support BO but he had to tell others to vote BO–I said NO FLLLLLKING WAY. My team for Hillary stood near them for 2 weeks during early voting and during the primary….I called him out so bad he had to go home and cry. I was mad as hell because it was so anti-woman and because the Clintons are BIG supporters of gay/lesbian/bi/transgender issues.

They are holding this festive fancy shindig thing to CELEBRATE the messiah’s coronation in a fancy hotel near my home, so I thought that we should hold our own little thing for hillary….

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and
then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans
are against deficits, we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation
and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on
appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme
Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly,
legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems
that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem
was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its
Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally
chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason.
They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a
senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing.
I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash.
The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what
the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to
determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that
what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con
regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive
amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a
Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating
deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force
the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole
responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and
approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House?
She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members,
not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president
vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not
replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of
incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic
problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you
fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the
federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they
want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.

If the Marines are in IRAQ , it’s because they want them in IRAQ .

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement
plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureauc rats, whom they
hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and
advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to
regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let
them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical
forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them
from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are
their bosses provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own
employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Being from the east originally however I can say our brother and sister PUMAS over there are probably more intense. About everything. I know my relatives are.

good point about Maher. Another interesting factoid on him was the way he answered King’s question about if he would ever get married. He gave like 4 or 5 different answers in the span of about 90 seconds. Maybe he’s an indecisive guy & that is why Obama has captured his heart, LOL…

Anyway I was rather taken aback at the insensitivity of those 2 guys discussing their comfort level with better restaurant service when a lot of American families are really hurting right now.

Also, it made me recall a conversation I overheard at a concert this summer. I was in a line waiting to buy food from a vendor, the woman behind me was confiding in her friend, “a lot of my friends are having financial problems, I have to be really careful about telling people I’m going to a concert,” this & that. She clearly was a kind & considerate friend, not wanting to cause her friends to feel badly.

As opposed to Mayer & King, laughing it up. Wow.

Probably most of us on this site are feeling the financial squeeze, some of us hanging out on a limb to go to Denver, others can’t swing it no matter what, some of us seeing our neighbors lose their homes.

Our next-door neighbor moved recently & we fed their dog ALL the time when they went on vacation. So we didn’t understand why they didn’t say goodbye until they told us later, “I lost my job & couldn’t make the mortgage!” Really sad…

I disagree, McCain’s experience does not out gun Barack. McCain has been in the Senate for 26 years and he does not know anything about the ECONOMY. He didn’t ever bother to educate himself on it and that means he is either lazy or do not care about Middle Class issues.

He may have a slight leg up on Foreign Policy but Barack has better judgment. Over the course of this campaign…Barack has been right on all Foreign Policy issues and McCain has been dead wrong. McCains age is also causing a lot of gaffees.

I think that McCain has only a slight advantage over Barack and the only reason for that is because he has been in the Senate for so long.

Barack is to smart for his own good and the Saddleback forum proved that but Americans are so dumbed down they fell into the McCain trap.

I don’t care who Barack picks I support him 100%

As I batten down the hatches here in Florida, awaiting Tropical Storm Fay, I just wanted to impart a few thoughts. If I’m without electricity for the next few days, maybe some of you bloggers can take this… and run with it…

Beep, beep. Back up the “beer” truck. I’m not talking about Shirley Feeney, the innocent, working-class heroine on the TV show, “Laverne and Shirley.” I don’t even know who Cindy Williams is supporting in this election. I’m talking about the late Shirley Chisholm (November 30, 1924 – January 1, 2005).

If you’re in your mid forties, like I am, you probably recall Shirley’s name but don’t know much about her. I first learned about Shirley when I was a kid, while watching an episode of “All in the Family.” I recall Archie’s daughter, Gloria, campaigning for Shirley. I then went on to learn more about this great woman.

Shirley was a politician, an educator, an author, and a congresswoman from New York from 1969 – 1983. Shirley Chisholm was the first major party African-American candidate for President. According to the DNC records, Shirley received 152 first-ballot votes at the 1972 Democratic National Convention. She won only 28 delegates during the primaries. But here’s the kicker… During a “hotly contested primary” between McGovern and Humphrey, Humphrey knew that McGovern would win, so as a symbolic gesture, Humphrey released his African American delegates to Chisholm, giving her the total of 152 first ballot votes.

What I really love about this amazing woman is what she did during the primary. Apparently, Shirley Chisholm created quite the controversy when she visited George Wallace in the hospital soon after his shooting in May 1972, smack dab in the middle of the presidential campaign.

Wallace was touched. So much so, that several years later, Chisholm worked on a bill to give domestic workers the right to a minimum wage. Guess who helped her gain enough votes to get the legislation though the house by influencing southern congressmen? Yup. George Wallace.

No doubt… no doubt Chisholm’s candidacy was historic. With so many parallels between Shirley Chisholm’s run and this year (the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I’ve got a Dream” speech, and the anniversary of women getting the right to vote, you would think the MSM would spend it’s time talking about how Hillary’s name being placed in nomination is not an anomaly. That’s the real story. Instead, the MSN must spend it’s time promoting Obama propaganda, such as McCain cheated at Saddleback.

All I can say is, shame on you, Andrea Mitchell!

There’s so much that’s gone on during this election that is worthy of reporting: possible voter fraud; Pelosi buying Obama endorsements; Obama buying Obama endorsements; Ayers; Wright; Rezko; Obama’s team pulling the race card; what goes on at a “camp Obama,” the fact that Florida and Michigan were unfairly sanctioned; Obama blocking legal revote actions in Florida and Michigan; and the fact that Hillary Clinton really won the popular vote.

While most of the MSN is truly “in the tank” for Obama, we all know that there are two cable networks that have been the biggest offenders: CNN and MSNBC. I laughed when I saw the new CNN ads on television. “No agenda,” they claim. It’s sad when a once respectable news outlet has to defend itself in commercials. Now, it’s MSNBC’s turn.

I’m actually happy that the McCain campaign has gone after them. After McCain’s impressive performance this weekend, he has every right to claim his victory without the MSM or Obama diminishing it. I remember when I won the 600 yard dash in the 6th grade. Even my gym teacher couldn’t believe it. One of the cool, star athletic young women in the school was crushed that I, a nervous and nerdy studious girl, actually beat her. My teacher didn’t help matters when she told me publicly that I wasn’t allowed to be happy for my win because the other girl felt bad about her loss. No, my teacher’s last name wasn’t Axlerod.

MSNBC is like my 6th grade teacher. As much as I learned from that woman, I still recall how unfair her comments often could be… like the day she publicly singled me out as the first girl in the class to grow boobs. (Hey, times were different then… I got over the comments, but I still have the boobs!) MSNBC purposely underplayed Hillary Clinton’s victories. Hillary was me in the sixth grade. She had the substance, but maybe not the style. Maybe she didn’t get invited to the “popular girl’s” (Pelosi’s) party, but we knew in the end that Hillary had what it took to get the job done. She won the race, but she wasn’t allowed to celebrate. After all, the other person was supposed to win! How dare she, or her supporters, even think of claming victory?

Okay, enough of my pre-pubescent psychological dramas. I’ll get to my point — MSNBC seems to be making a concerted effort to be the anti-FOX. They seem to want to pander to all that is the left, even if it means telling half-truths or blatant lies.

What can we do about it? If you read this post and you agree that MSNBC is biased toward Obama, and if you agree that Andrea Mitchell was out of line, I’d like you to write to MSNBC this week and ask them one simple question: “Why isn’t Andrea Mitchell… a proud woman and journalist, spending her time reporting the facts about this election? Why is she pandering to the Obama campaign?

It goes deeper than this. PUMA’s are being portrayed in the MSM as “fringe.” We’re hormonal housewives who cannot get over the fact that our candidate lost. No matter that we are 40% male, not all initial Clinton supporters, and we’re simply refusing to vote for a candidate who we do not believe is qualified. PUMA’s care about party and country, but if you ask Nancy Pelosi, we need our heads examined! Obama doesn’t need our votes anyway. Since he’s “sent from above,” I assume he’ll be able to part Lake Okeechobee and somehow turn Florida blue again.

My mom found out later that my six grade teacher wanted to “play down my talents” in front of the other kids since I was reading at the 12th grade level, and she didn’t know what to do with me. Twisted logic? Sure. It was the 70’s. But, what’s MSNBC’s logic for skewing facts that could indeed change the course of American history? I hardly doubt it’s as altruistic as a sixth grade teacher being dumbfounded as to what to do with a gifted student and wanting to save the other kids’ egos.

Isn’t that what the MSN is doing? Playing everything down? Hillary Clinton having her name placed in nomination shouldn’t have even been a question. The only reason is a question, is that Barack Obama cannot seal the deal.

Something is rotten at Rockefeller Center. I hope John McCain’s team can get to the bottom of it and maybe we can, too. Will you blog and write emails for me while my electricity is out for the next two days? Better yet, write to your cable company and tell them that they should no longer carry MSNBC. We’ve tried boycotting sponsors. Maybe this will work.

If you won’t do it for me… think about what Shirley would have wanted… Even though Barack Obama’s candidacy his historic in the terms of that he’s winning the nomination, knowing what kind of person Shirley Chisholm was, do you really think she’d want Hillary (or us) to be treated like this by a cable news network?

As far as the news go – I don’t go there anymore. I had to go to ABC for the Olympics, but that is it!! I started boycotting them when I realized what they were doing. My intelligence was insulted!!

Hello TO ALL of you! MA. pumagranny here!! It has taken me forever to blog~~ but I finally made it. Yippee! I’ve had some physical hang ups, so I have not been typing much, just reading everything I can on our Puma site and what is happening, the blog is great.
I am so disappointed I cannot go to Denver but I will say a prayer and light my candle that you all have a pleasant journey and arrive safely. Everyone has worked so hard for months. Stay strong and kick some azz if those nasty Obama Mites bite, hehe

Darragh has worked diligently, and with all the other support groups, it is amazing how much time and effort went into making this happen, Hillary will be so happy when she sees the turnout from her supporters.

If O chooses her for VP I hope she refuses, she has always been number one, I would be disappointed if she accepts, he may have a sure win if she lets her delegates go. O needs her more now than ever cause he is going down the tubes, Maybe people are finally seeing the real Obama for what he is. He can’t even be an honest salesman with all the BS he sells. hehe

I just put the site up a couple days ago to highlight the journey of the Suffragists [which we celebrate on Tues. --88th anniversay of Suffrage.] I compare Suffragists and PUMAs. The tactics they used are similar to what we PUMA’s are doing — challenging the Democrats during a Presidential campaign. They got really criticized for doing that, but, in the end, it did help get suffrage! They fought to get women the vote. We’re fighting to get everyone’s votes counted.
