Campaign will take place on the evening of August 25th from 6 until 10 p.m., in beautiful downtown Denver’s Cheesman Park. What makes this historical event special, isn’t just that its named after the Maya Angelou’s famous poem “Rise," but that it will also close with the lighting of candles to pay tribute to Hillary and all of her achievements, while also symbolically reigniting the flame to America’s great Democracy and Lady Liberty’s torch. Hundreds of participants are expected to attend, and candles are planned to Rise across the nation, community by community in one harmonious gesture of participation. The Rise 2008 is being hosted by Rise International, a group of women whose common bond in supporting Hillary Clinton drew them together over the internet. While they haven’t physically ever met, they have spent weeks on both the computer and over the phone in planning this entire event. What started out as a great idea was just that -a great idea- until PUMA PAC, (People United Means Action), the group noted for their commitment to Hillary Clinton, agreed to sponsor The Rise, and now there’s no looking back. I think it is important that we all understand what supporting Senator Clinton means. That means that in good times and bad, we will support her. She has done so for us and will continue to do so for us. Please do not allow others to think that you just support her and not the Democratic Platform that I believe many of you were an intricate part of writing.
I think it is important that if Hillary chooses to be VP as a result of it being offered to her, that we support her in that measure. Do not place the conditions on her that you would place on a child, as she is not one. She is well aware of what saying “yes” will mean. She is a very smart woman.
However, saying “no” would mean that if the Republicans come out with something that completely damages Barack, and is a violation of the Charter, he can be dismissed. That is her in, do you want her to pass that up?
Please support HILLARY. NOT, HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT.

I get so frustrated with my posts because I press down on the Shift key for caps but my touch is so light that 70% of the time it does not register. Arggggggh
But to tell her not to do what the party asks is not in her best interest either. She is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. I think people lose sight of the fact that Hillary is a Politician. Personal attacks of me are not going to help the situation. She is attempting to do what is best for the party, the platform, and the down ballot tickets. Do not assume that Hillary is the only one contemplating what is going to take place. Also, it is essential that everyone stop placing conditions on your support for her. She has to do what she has to do! I will support her no matter what she chooses to do, because I trust her judgement and that is why I vote, work for, and supported her bid for presidency. Further, I would not have voted for her if I did not trust her judgement, and it seems as though some are questioning that these days.

I just think it would be a very bad thing for Hillary to accept the VP slot. She needs to lead a clean up of the DNC.
Paul – I don’t think it’s as clear cut as people trusting or not trusting Senator Clinton’s judgement. I think there have been many junctures along this road we’re on where decisions were made that we all have/had different feelings about. Now that it’s coming down to the wire, the emotions are mounting and pressure is rising. I, for one, never feel a need to trust any polician in some kind of a blank check way. That’s part of what is so freaky about a lot of Obama’s supporters. I think a person can support a leader like Senator Clinton AND also take issue with some of the choices she’s made AND empathize with the situation she is in.

I want you all to understand I take what you say to our morning meetings. I tell the what you think, what you hear, and what you see. There are some with a direct line to Hillary sitting there. I find it important to blog with you because you all have feelings and they are getting hurt by what campaigns, people, and events are saying and doing. Do not fret, Hillary will not back down and continue to fight for you. She is not going to be pushed around my ANYONE. Least of all someone who cannot do anything to her, just remember that. She is a POWERFUL woman in New York, Nationally, and on the world stage!

I don’t think we are placing conditions on our support of her. I will support her entire career no matter what she does. She is one hell of a woman and the smartest politician I have ever paid attention to.
If she needs to make hard choices for her career- then I understand, and I understand that I might never know what the reasons behind her choices were, or what she was truly up against in private.
BUT—– this movement is about the democratic party- not JUST about her. I will not and cannot EVER vote for Obama, no matter who is running with him.
AND, I will not ever support the democratic party again if they don’t come clean and treat the convention fairly, and become the party that I could trust to count the votes and pay attention to their own people.

What strikes me most about the demographics of the parties cited in the article is that the Democrats have no strategy to maximize the benefits of their diversity. Voter registration is not a problem, it is voter participation.
The article does not address gender. I was given to understand that the Democrtic party was 54% female. It is just stupid of BO to believe he could win if he discounted females. But then, they are only 36% of the SD. No where is sexism more obvious than in the gender distribution of the SD vote (at campaign suspension):

Clinton – Female 125, Male 132
Undecided – Female 26, Male 55
The sexism is in the Democratic Party. So why should they stop the media?

Hi all, I don’t know if you are watching FOX or not, but some of the pictures of McCain returning from Hanoi Hilton – I have about 60 pics from Hanoi Hilton, the plane trip to Clarke AFB, while they were there and then some of when the POWs got to finally go home. They are “originals”!!! We were stationed there. I didn’t get to see the POWs though – family and military only!!
Paul: You mean the so-called Democratic Platform where they flat out ignored the notion of getting rid of caucuses? Where they put women almost dead last (on like pg 50 of 56)? I’m sorry, but the Democratic Party has left the voters behind.
I will support Senator Clinton if she chooses to stay in the Senate (voting for McCain of course), and I will support Senator Clinton if she chooses to go for the Presidency. But I will not support Senator Obama as President NO MATTER WHO the VP is, including Hillary Clinton.
It’s more than about Obama vs Hillary. It’s about my country and the democratic principle itself. I cannot support a candidate who cheated as flagrantly as he has in the caucuses, who flat out bribed Superdelegates for votes. If the Democratic Party doesn’t listen to our voices, they will hear our votes in November.
Some people on this site might support Hillary as VP, but I won’t. That would be saying women should take second place when they were virtually tied vote-wise.
Hillary will take whatever path she needs to politically, and if she chooses to go for VP, I will not hold it against her in the future, and that’s the best I can say.

Essentially what I am saying is that she will do what the people want her to do. With the letters and posts we received, I am sure it will be positive. Yes, you are a movement, but that movement needs to prove that you are doing something more than degrading a candidate by saying if she’s this then yes. If not, then no. I support Hillary and not what is taking place. But I saw it over a year ago. She tried to win despite all the odds. She has chosen NOT to expose them up until now. I hope that you all will do the same and support her it was a hard fought battle. She is fighting for soldiers and others now, do not deny what you have seen in the past from a true leader.

Lord, can you imagine having your e-mail box filled with letters saying how we want her to be our nominee, how she is the only qualified candidate, how passionately we support her, how hard we’ve worked for her and continue to advocate for her? But, we’re not robots. Many of us have drawn a line in the sand which we will not cross. And, we’ve let her know that too. I don’t think that takes away from supporting her. Please understand that delegates are calling all day every day trying to get her to change course. WE all want her to as well, I hope she does. If not we must fight to change caucuses to primaries and not deny ANYONE in the future.

Paul, I respect your point of view. We are all in this because we support Hillary Clinton. That being said, I for one cannot support an Obama presidency – even if Ms. Clinton is the VP. I hope she passes that cup by, it is a losing ticket. It’s either the top for 08 or 12.

would do anything for Hillary except vote for Obama. He is not the person I want in the White House. I do not trust him or believe him. This all makes me so upset. I will say my prayers and wait for Hillary to make her move. I really want to watch her accept the nomination.

PaulHillary – Even our love and loyalty to our family members is conditional–everyone should be honest in their hearts about that. At some point in every relationship there is a fracture point, no matter how deep the commitment. Hillary is a politician, and one of the most brilliant and devoted we’ve ever seen. We want to believe she is still fighting the good fight for America (and specifically her supporters), but to align herself in this political orbit with such an obvious glory-seeker creates that fracture for many of us. A crack of concern appears. It rings of insincerity, and that bothers the HECK out of a lot of us. I’d rather she blow them all out of the water and tell them to do something unmentionable to themselves, but she has too much class.
But no one can dictate to another how to have faith in a system that has behaved so horribly to her and to women everywhere. It’s personal.

Paul, Obama is wrong for our country in every conceivable way. Putting Hillary on the ticket can’t change that.
I did a lot of soul searching regarding a Obama-Clinton ticket. At first I thought maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. Hillary would be in the White House. If something happened to Obama, Hillary would inherit the Presidency. Maybe it made sense.
Finally I realized that Obama would hurt Hillary too badly. He has too much baggage. His behavior and judgment are beyond despicable. He would contaminate Hillary like the most toxic and corrosive substance on the planet. And frankly, I would fear for her safety every day, because Obama is so ruthless and nasty.
If Obama is the nominee, I will vote for McCain. Hillary can run again in 2012. I’ll support her then.

Just heard that Lieberman is believed to be McCain’s top pic for VP. On news right now. CNN PDT. Since the news has been saying all day that O is announcing his VP tonight or tomorrow by cell phone (supposedly), the McCain campaign is stealing the thunder (my opinion). This is very laughable. The Democratic Party (progressives) hit Lieberman pretty bad last Fall so there’s no love loss there. Interesting combo if its true.
Delphine, I have been adjusting to the different time zones between France and America. Only been back about a week and had to start teaching last week, deep in the heart of Obamaland. Been holding my precious first petit fille in Arras and helping my daughter recover from her C-section. Gosh! I miss the cheese and yogurt aisles of the markets there…..but mostly my family.

I’m tired, again. Been up playing at getting lodging, once again, of Denver. But I’m around and working still.
In so far as supporting HRC: I thnk that it goes back to the original diversity of this blog. Everyone has their own opinion and are entitled to them. Our common thread is thinking she was cheated out of the proper nomination as mandated by the people and corrupted by the DNC. That has lead us to declaring we will not support Obama as the best candidate. So far as I know, other than these and working to bring about change in the corrupt DNC by toppling their new king, I think we all are accepting of the diverse opinions in regards to every other aspect to this election held by each PUMA, as we should be, in that variety we represent the truth of America.
Personally, I was staunchly against Senator Clinton as VP. Said I’d never vote for Obama even if…then I thought about it recently. If she were selected it would be, obviously in direct opposition to what Obama wants. I think that would denote a real victory for PUMAs, even though that was never our goal. I also think I’d not be able to NOT support Hillary. I think if Obama failed with her on his ticket she woulddefinitely be made the scape-goat. So, I am not hoping he names her, but I think I may have come around in my thinking. I will support this woman. ALSO, you KNOW Hill and Bill are NOT going to be silent if this idiot starts proposing things that are dangerous.
That’s just my opinion and I am not trying to persuade anyone to it. Just sharing my thought-process.
I also said I’d never vote for Mccain…again, I find that the progress of the situation makes me have to re-think. It’s one thing to stick to our guns, but in the need to actually cast an effective vote choice, I find myself seriously considering what I may be called on to do in the best interest of my country.

Paul if you’re still on…this has gone way beyond Hillary and the DNC. This has become a matter of National Trust. Some laws have been passed which never should have been. Our Constitution and our country are now at risk. We stand a very good chance of going the way of the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, etc. if the wrong person is in power. At this point I DO NOT feel comfortable having Barack Obama in the position of power to move this country along. He has admitted in articles he can’t stand a slow pace…he wants to keep moving. We need a true and steady course to get back on track. Outside of the unanswered questions, I don’t feel he has the patience necessary to rebuild our country!

My August 14 letter to Hillary
Dear Hillary,
I’m thrilled to learn this morning that your name will be placed in nomination at the convention. That’s the best news I’ve heard since you suspended your campaign.
My letter today is largely a repeat of what I sent you two days ago. Today I’m writing with a special request that you forward copies of my letter to as many delegates and superdelegates as possible. I, too, will be contacting delegates and superdelegates, but I can’t reach them as quickly or effectively as you can. By working together, we can get the word out to as many people as possible.
Delegates and superdelegates need our encouragement and support against the overwhelming pressure they must be under to vote to Obama. You are by far the best candidate for President. If you are not our nominee, my friends and I will have to vote for John McCain in November. There’s nothing anyone can say or do that would convince us to vote for Obama.
My friends and I gave Obama fair consideration in the beginning. There was a time we favored a Clinton-Obama ticket. There was a time we might have voted for Obama if you asked us to. All of that is gone. The more we see Obama and listen to Obama, the more we dislike and distrust him. Most of my friends and I describe him as “scary.”
We don’t want Obama anywhere near the White House, where he will undoubtedly bring ruin to the United States. We don’t want him anywhere near you either, where he would undoubtedly ruin your political career. Even if you were nominated on the condition that you take Obama as your Vice President, I wouldn’t be comfortable. You don’t need to be tarnished by Obama’s considerable baggage. And I would fear for your safety daily, knowing how desperate Obama is to become President no matter what it takes.
There are many reasons why I won’t vote for Obama … and why I will instead vote for John McCain in November if Obama is the nominee. For the sake of brevity, I’ll cite only my top four … the real deal-breakers, the ones that no one, not even you, can argue against.
First came the Reverend Wright story. It’s human nature to embrace the attitudes of others around us when we want to fit in, to belong, and to be liked. Thus there’s every reason to believe that Obama embraces the hateful teachings of Revered Wright, despite his insistence to the contrary.
I find Obama to be dismissive of everyone and everything that doesn’t serve his immediate interests. I first noticed this when he refused to do additional debates with you, even though voters in upcoming primaries wanted to hear more debates. But now I see it in all of his actions. It was the same trait I saw in George Bush in 2000. It’s that very same dismissive tendency that led us into this horrible Iraq war. Obama would be just as dangerous to America and the world as George Bush is.
Throughout the primary season, Obama kept saying, “I welcome that debate with John McCain.” Yet he has repeatedly refused to do the ten town hall debates that John McCain proposed and that many voters would like to see. This, more than anything, reveals to me Obama’s character. It tells me he’s not a man of his word, that he cannot and will not reach across the aisle to work with Republicans, and that he doesn’t believe in transparency in government. It tells me that he fears John McCain will expose the lack of substance behind his rhetoric. And it tells me that he’s afraid to speak without a teleprompter and the scripted words of the DNC puppet masters.
Finally, I think Obama as President would spell economic disaster for the United States. I began fearing his economic policies when I saw how he would often outspend you by two-, three-, or four-to-one, but you consistently got more votes per dollar spent. Much fuss has been made about your campaign debt, but you know how to “do more with less.” John McCain, too, knows how to do more with less. He was nearly counted out last summer, yet he came back to win his party’s nomination on a shoestring budget.
Meanwhile, I see Obama spending obscene amounts of money on things that do little more than feed his ego (e.g., repainting his airplane and creating a phony presidential seal he had to abandon because of so much negative publicity). Obama spends money recklessly, as do many people who suddenly come into unearned wealth. I fear that he would be extremely wasteful with taxpayer money, and that America and Americans alike would be plunged into far greater debt than we have ever seen if Obama were President.
I understand the party line about how McCain’s position on many issues is different from yours and perhaps not what Democrats want. However, I see John McCain as a reasonable man of good character who can work across party lines for win-win solutions. I see Obama as a man of very bad character who cannot be trusted on any issue and who strictly plays win-lose. A McCain presidency would be far better than an Obama presidency in every conceivable way.
Again, please forward my letter to as many delegates and superdelegates as you can. That will help me reach a bigger audience than I can on my own.

Dear Hillary,
I’m troubled by rumors that you will release your delegates to Obama at the convention before the roll call vote. I’m equally disturbed by numerous reports of delegates being paid, pressured, or threatened to vote for Obama rather than vote their conscience or vote in accordance with the popular vote in their districts, as they are supposed to do.
I know that you are doing and saying what you must for now. And I pray that you will accept the nomination if you get enough votes, because we truly need you in the White House. Many of us are working very hard behind the scenes to encourage delegates and superdelegates to vote for you. We’re all donating more time, energy, and money than we can afford. And yet, we cannot afford to stand by and do nothing.
Please understand that millions of your supporters will never vote for Obama in November, no matter how much you might encourage us to do so. It has nothing to do with Democrat versus Republican. It’s about electing the best and most qualified person for the job. We aren’t swayed by individual issues, like Roe v. Wade. There are enough checks and balances in the system to protect us. We don’t feel we’re compromising vital goals, like universal healthcare. You could still achieve that working in the Senate, especially with your friend John McCain in the White House.
Your supporters are watching the candidates closely. Over the last few months, we’ve seen more and more to dislike and distrust about Obama. Conversely, in the short time since you suspended your campaign, we’re seeing more and more to like and admire in McCain.
Democratic party leaders would like to believe that we will eventually fall in line and vote for Obama in November. But it’s not going to happen. Every day, a growing number of people recognize that Obama is not right for our country. The Democratic Party cannot win the election with Obama as the nominee. Party leaders need to wake up and acknowledge that they made a mistake before it’s too late.
You are welcome to forward my letter to delegates and superdelegates. My time and money is limited, so I can’t reach as many as I’d like to. Together, we can reach a bigger audience.

Welcome to politics. Hillary will do what she has to do. Politics is her life. I have no ill feeling toward her or about her decisions to support O if she must. I don’t think she will be VP. Thank you for your input. I am about the most unpolitical person I know and Hillary Clinton is amongst the best, so what you say makes sence.
First comes my country and concerns about our political process, in general. I think that most here would consider many options except actually voting for Obama.

At no time have I said I would vote for McCain and that still holds. But I can’t and will not vote for O. He’s wrong for this country and I’m true to my country first. I’m retired now (at last). They rehired me last year -middle school. But district had to make $2.4 millions in cuts, so the position went to a continuing contracted person (rightly so). Put in 23 yrs with state, but taught other things (college, private lessons, preschool, etc) for many years. Rewarding career. I’m really bummed about the cuts, but things happen for reasons. Have to help my daughter out in Oct. Saw your posts above.
I loved teaching, but the stress was really too much, more with less. Good luck for the coming year. Re: Storms. We’ve had T-storms for 3 days running until today. Very unusual. Love the rain and cooling off today.

Paul….I have given to Hillary til it hurts. My credit cards keep going up but I figure hopefully I will have time to pay them off and it will pay off! I will not support the DNC and I am carefully monitoring who I will vote for in the fall. Some will be Republicans. I happen to be in Colorado and right after the caucus I started writing the SDs. I was NOT impressed with reasons for not committing, and one committed to BO because he liked his talk. That was the most I could get from him. Needless to say, since he is up for reelection I have called his office and let him know he lost my vote since his answer had no substance. I was a Hillary delegate through the state convention and tried for national but my heart wasn’t in it. I knew if they wanted unanimous acclimation I couldn’t do it. I will continue to help Hillary on a personal level because I believe totally in her but I will not generically ever again support the DNC. It will be a candidate by candidate decision, regardless of party! If Hillary manages to pull off the nomination, I will have to dig even deeper to support her. That is the trust I have that my giving will have a return.

CNN poll of polls: Obama lead cut in half

A new CNN poll of polls shows Obama’s lead is dwindling.
(CNN) — In what could be an ominous sign for Barack Obama just days before he is formally named the Democratic presidential nominee, a new CNN poll of polls out Tuesday shows the Illinois senator’s lead over John McCain has been cut in half in recent days.
According to CNN’s average of several recent national surveys, Obama’s lead is now a slim 3 points over the Arizona senator, 46-43 percent — half of his advantage in a CNN poll of polls one week ago, and down from a high of 8 points in mid-July.

The latest poll results come amid increased attacks from McCain on Obama’s readiness to be commander-in-chief and the re-emergence of national security worries among voters in the wake of the Georgia crisis.
“Over the last week, we’ve seen Sen. Obama’s lead in the poll of polls cut in half,” noted CNN Senior Political Researcher Alan Silverleib. “This change was likely driven by a renewed focus on foreign policy after Russia’s invasion of Georgia, as well as by Sen. McCain’s willingness to launch more aggressive attacks against Obama on issues such as off-shore drilling.”
A Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll out Tuesday evening was the latest national survey to indicate Obama’s lead is dwindling, putting the Illinois senator ahead of McCain by only 2 points, well within the poll’s margin of error. The CNN Poll of polls also includes new surveys from Quinnipiac and Gallup.
But the recent downturn in the polls for Obama may not last — the Democratic White House hopeful is headed for a week of what is likely to be overwhelmingly postive coverage as he names his running mate and officially accepts his party’s presidential nomination.
“The big question now is whether Obama can successfully regain control of the campaign agenda as we head into the Democratic convention,” Silverleib also said.

Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut remains “very much in the mix” of potential running mates for Republican presidential candidate John McCain, the Politico, a top political website, reported today.
Quoting senior McCain advisers, the website described McCain as considering two abortion-rights advocates, Lieberman and Republican Tom Ridge, despite the opposition of conservatives.
Lieberman, who departed today for a three-day trip to Poland, Ukraine and the former Soviet republic of Georgia, was unavailable for comment. His staff declined all comment on the vice-presidential selection process.
But Lieberman has repeatedly insisted that he would not reprise his 2000 role as Al Gore’s running mate, though he would do whatever else asked of him by the McCain campaign.
Aside from his Democratic pedigree, Lieberman is a supporter of abortion rights, gun control and gay rights, meaning his selection would invite a revolt from the Republican right at the Republican National Convention.
The Politico also quoted an unnamed Republican as speculating that a non-Republican would have trouble appearing on the GOP line of the ballot in some states.
Lieberman endorsed McCain in December at a press conference also attended by Ridge, the former Pennsylvania governor and homeland security chief. Both men are personally close to McCain.

#10 PaulHillary – I cannot deny that I believe that Senator Clinton could do a lot with the VP spot for the democratic party. It would not be my first choice, because I believe in my soul that she is the stronger, more competent candidate to run for POTUS. I must admit I would have to give it serious consideration, if he did indeed offer her the position.
I joined PUMA because I, like all other PUMAs felt disenfranchised during the primaries and it gave me a place to voice my outrage with like-minded voters. Further, it gave me a place to ACTIVELY work to ensure that our voices and concerns are heard loud and clear.

There have been many great women through out our history who have made great saccrifices and suffered relentlessly in order to to give the women of the world a voice .
They were ostracized , imprisoned , and even murdered for taking a stand and refusing to accept the pittances offered to them by those in power .
When I reflect on these courageous women ; Susan B Anthony , Alice Paul , Soujourner Truth , and even Benazir Bhutto to name just a few , I realize that they have paved the way for Sen. Clinton to step up and lead our country.
This is not and easy path , and it DOES require some kind of saccrifice . I would ask the Senator , “What are you willing to saccrifice in order to fulfill the dreams of those who came before you ? ” ” Are you willing to put justice and the good of our country above the good of the party ?”
Some say it would be better to retreat and live to fight another day .. I say there IS no other day . Today is the day and your( Sen. Clinton) time is NOW .
I will never support Barack Obama for President , and I will never support the rightful winner accepting the second chair .

Well, I did my own prowl today at lunch. I took flyers to 6 different fire stations today. It seem Rudi Clay, Dem Chair aka obama kiss ass…is giving all the firefigters and city workers a 20% a decrease in their salary. The City of Gary is broke. This is thecity filled with most of the koolaid drinkers. I asked them “can we have Hillary back now” invited them to come to the website. We will see. These are some of the same people who regularly try to run me off the road

I am just starting on this thread here… just want to say, I am not following what PaulHillary is selling because Barack Obama is a no go. Not now not ever. What politicians do is political. What the silent majority Americans do is in the best interest of this country.
If Hillary hitched her wagon to Barack Obama’s falling star, she would go against what so many of us are here working against, that is, sexism, high tech political honor killing by mainstream media, in a win at all costs strategy where William Jefferson Clinton was painted as a racist, the ultimate betrayal. Bill Clinton may be this or that, but one thing he is not is a racist. Working to undermine his legacy is an act of political treason, and distorting his words into imagined hate speech to the point that the term racist has lost all meaning going forward, well, the ends DO NOT justify the MEANS. Barack Obama is on his own, and he will fall on his own, God Forbid Hillary should go there and disappoint so many people and satisfy her enemies on the right. I mean, there has to be some line in the sand for a politician and as much as she is not speaking of these things, this has to be foremost to her sense of honor for herself, her husband, her daughter and the legacy of their family name.
Just a parting thought–if you want reform, you have to make some noise, you have to get out the sledgehammer and bring down the house. It hurts to tell Hillary, “No,” but we want to see this change in our lifetime–not our grandchildren’s lifetimes. Not voting for BO and perhaps knocking the DNC on its fanny may do more good for our country than we can measure now.
It would be wrong to stand by and hope they fix it. We can fix this, but it’s going to get a little messy.

I am wondering if this may be a decoy. I have seen the same articles (Regarding Lieberman). He was interviewed by Sean Hannity and Hannity asked him if he was on the list and if he would consider it or accept. Keep in mind this was like a month ago. Any way, at that time, Lieberman said “been there, done that.” after he laughed he continued “I don’t expect it and have not put my name in or lobbyed for it.” “I think I would serve John better in the Senate and in his campaign.” Keep in mind, that was like…the end of July. But the way things are going, who knows!

Thought you guys might like to read this. This is an e-mail sent from Michael Moore (the famed documentary guy) to Caroline Kennedy. Moore is an Obama supporter – but the email is interesting because he knows what’s happening to some extent. I just don’t know if he’s joking or being serious about CK for VP. Here it is:
Dear Caroline,
We’ve never met, so I hope you don’t find this letter too presumptuous or inappropriate. As its contents involve the public’s business, I am sending this to you via the public on the Internet. I knew your brother John. He was a great guy, and I know he would’ve had a ball during this thrilling and historic election year. We all miss him dearly.
Barack Obama selected you to head up his search for a vice presidential candidate. It appears we may be just days (hours?) away from learning who that choice will be.
The media is reporting that Senator Obama has narrowed his alternatives to three men: Joe Biden, Evan Bayh and Tim Kaine. They’re all decent fellows, but they are far from the core of what the Obama campaign has been about: Change. Real change. Out with the old. And don’t invade countries that pose no threat to us.
Senators Biden and Bayh voted for that invasion and that war, the war Barack ran against, the war Barack reminded us was the big difference between him and Senator Clinton because she voted for the war and he spoke out against it while running for Senate (a brave and bold thing to do back in 2002).
For Obama to place either of these senators on the ticket would be a huge blow to the millions that chose him in the primaries over Hillary. He will undercut one of the strongest advantages he has over the Hundred-Year War senator, Mr. McCain. By anointing a VP who did what McCain did in throwing us into this war, Mr. Obama will lose the moral high ground in the debates.
As for Governor Kaine of Virginia, his big problem is, well, Obama’s big problem — who is he? The toughest thing Barack has had to overcome — and it will continue to be his biggest obstacle — is that too many of the voters simply don’t know him well enough to vote for him. The fact that Obama is new to the scene is both one of his most attractive qualities AND his biggest drawback. Too many Americans, who on the surface seem to like Barack Obama, just don’t feel comfortable voting for someone who hasn’t been on the national scene very long. It’s a comfort level thing, and it may be just what keeps Obama from winning in November (“I’d rather vote for the devil I know than the devil I don’t know”).
What Obama needs is a vice presidential candidate who is NOT a professional politician, but someone who is well-known and beloved by people across the political spectrum; someone who, like Obama, spoke out against the war; someone who has a good and generous heart, who will be cheered by the rest of the world; someone whom we’ve known and loved and admired all our lives and who has dedicated her life to public service and to the greater good for all.
That person, Caroline, is you.
I cannot think of a more winning ticket than one that reads: “OBAMA-KENNEDY.”
Caroline, I know that nominating yourself is the furthest idea from your mind and not consistent with who you are, but there would be some poetic justice to such an action. Just think, eight years after the last head of a vice presidential search team looked far and wide for a VP — and then picked himself (a move topped only by his hubris to then lead the country to near ruin while in office) — along comes Caroline Kennedy to return the favor with far different results, a vice president who helps restore America to its goodness and greatness.
Caroline, you are one of the most beloved and respected women in this country, and you have been so admired throughout your life. You chose a life outside of politics, to work for charities and schools, to write and lecture, to raise a wonderful family. But you did not choose to lead a private life. You have traveled the world and met with its leaders, giving you much experience on the world stage, a stage you have been on since you were a little girl.
The nation has, remarkably (considering our fascination with celebrity), left you alone and let you live your life in peace. (It’s like, long ago, we all collectively agreed that, with her father tragically gone, a man who died because he wanted to serve his country, we would look out for her, we would wish for her to be happy and well, and we would have her back. But we would let her be.)
Now, I am breaking this unwritten code and asking you to come forward and help us in our hour of need. So many families are hurting, losing their homes, going bankrupt with health care bills, seeing their public schools in shambles and living with this war without end. This is a historic year for women, from Hillary’s candidacy to the numerous women running for the House and Senate. This is the year that a woman should be on the Democratic ticket. This is the year that both names on that ticket should be people OUTSIDE the party machine. This is the year millions of independents and, yes, millions of Republicans are looking for something new and fresh and bold (and you are the Kennedy Republicans would vote for!).
This is the moment, Caroline. Seize it! And Barack, if you’re reading this, you probably know that she is far too humble and decent to nominate herself. So step up and surprise us again. Step up and be different than every politician we have witnessed in our lifetime. Keep the passion burning amongst the young people and others who have been energized by your unexpected, unpredicted, against-all-odds candidacy that has ignited and inspired a nation. Do it for all those reasons. Make Caroline Kennedy your VP. “Obama-Kennedy.” Wow, does that sound so cool.
Caroline, thanks for letting me intrude on your life. How wonderful it will be to have a vice president who will respect the Constitution, who will support (instead of control) her president, who will never let her staff out a CIA agent, and who will never tell her country that she is “currently residing in an undisclosed location.”
Say it one more time: “OBAMA-KENNEDY.” A move like that might send a message to the country that the Democrats would actually like to win an election for once.

I’d like to add that I don’t think it will ever be a problem. Someone posted this link a few days back on the personality traits of a narcissist. Man — the article nails BO’s personality to a Tee. And according to this article — one of the problems with this personality disorder is that no matter how intelligent the person may be — there are certain factors that this type of person obsesses about even when it doesn’t make sense.
I think in BO’s case — he’s so obsessed with a hatred for Clinton that not only will he never pick her… but I think he takes great pleasure in not picking her even though all logic tells everyone else that he’s stupid not to do so. This trait would explain why he does other stupid things in the face of good judgement and logic. Like going out of his way to piss off supporters he would need to vote for him.

I admire your retired-from-profession a whole lot.
My fifth grade teacher, Mr. Brisslinger, semi-retired at age 68 a couple of years ago. He’s now a substitute only but tells me, ” I just can’t keep away from the kids”. He’s a great guy, and a great friend today.
I love and respect teachers greatly because of this man I still think of as a hero. That is why I want to thank you for all you did for the up and coming minds of young Americans.

There’s another element that many don’t seem to mention, however, could be a very powerful aspect to HRC not being being a VP, and that is it would mean bringing not one, but two, very powerful poiliticians into the WH, one being a past president.

I understand where you’re coming from, BUT, understand too where we are coming from. Our fight is BIGGER than Hillary, DNC, Democratic Party and Obama combined; WE ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR SURVIVAL – DEMOCRATIC PROCESS. I can always spot the bots from their first post. They always stick out like a sore thumb to me. They either take the abusive tactic or they try to say something that they think makes them “fit in” and appear to be “one of us” while at the same time attempting to persuade us to a premise of thought that is instantly alien to our way. They aren’t familiar enough with our style to know what we’re really about because they don’t share the same thought processes. Plain and simple. They’re attempting to fake it just like BO is faking his caring personality. But someone that knows what compassion really looks like — isn’t fooled by crocodile tears.

At my country convention in April, they didn’t even have a platform discussion in our district. It was vote for Obama and that was it. So, the DNC’s platform doesn’t have my input. I’ve read the thing from beginning to end. Most of these platforms are written by the party elite anyhow. Someone above mention the fact that women were mentioned on the last few pages. I remember thinking that it was heavy on WAR and ENVIRONMENT, but weak in women and education.

I hear that argument a lot (about bringing two Clintons in) but I don’t buy it. Here’s why? I think he doesn’t bring them in (whether one or two) out of shear hate and jealousy. Cause personally — if you’re inexperienced but truly noble in your cause to be a good President — you would welcome the experience and intelligence that both Clintons could offer. I know I would if I were in a position to be a POTUS nominee. I would gladly welcome HRC AND the advice from her husband. If I remember correctly — it seems Johnson inherited the Vietnam War that was a part of the Kennedy legacy and it was very tough on him. He had to be told the next moring he had won. It is a little before my age but not to much he died when I was in fourth grade the nuns went crazy that day. I was too young to understand the complexities as well… but they always say that there are certain events in time that you can always remember what you were doing at that exact moment. I was young… but I always have clear memories of the moment the news broke of Kennedy’s death. Another such event for my parents generation would be Pearl Harbor. I can tell you that a recent historical event in which I remember exactly what I was doing at the moment was when I heard about the 9/11 events.

Got some info on the conference call: They talked alot about logistics. Hillary said that if there is a 2nd roll call, which she does not think will happen, she wants her delegates to vote for Obama. They will make some kind of motion for this to take place, but she never (key word here never) said she would be releasing her delegates. She also said that she wants her delegates to do whatever it takes to defeat Mccain when they get home. Also Bill will be making speeches encouraging the delegates to vote for Obama.
Now for VP she said she has no idea who it will be. The delegates never asked her if she would accept it. So that never got discussed. He did say the delegates did ask questions but it was mostly logistics.

IMHO Hillary is too smart to take the VP, yes she has done above and beyond what is expected of her for the sake of the party. However, she also knows that this party is full of corruption and fraud so is it in her best interest at this point to try to save the party? I mean what would she be saving and who would she be saving? A bunch of criminals, that is what congress and the senate is full of, that has become quite apparent this election. Hillary must save herself at this point, to hell with the party, does she even want to associate herself with the likes of Obama? Hell No!
I would hope that Hillary does what is in her best interest and either become our president this year or in four years. I too will support her all the way up until Nov. 4th if she demeans herself and accepts VP. I love Hillary, but I love my country more, and Obama would have Hillary attending funerals and parties and nothing more. She has more say now as a senator then she ever would as VP.

Veep Speculation Continues
Veep speculation has become a frenzy. But remember, the people who know aren’t talking and the people who are talking don’t know. Everything else is at best an educated guess. Actually, Vice Presidential candidates since 1960 have always been announced within a week of the convention (or even at the convention), with the one exception of Edwards in 2004. That VP pick was leaked to Rupert Murdoch, owner of the New York Post, who put his money where his mouth was and printed the leak as a gigantic headline. Here is a list of announcement dates.
A story in the NY Times says Obama will announce this week and it is either Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN), Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), or Gov. Tim Kaine (D-VA). But they don’t know. When Obama has reached a decision, he is not going to send an e-mail to the NY Times to tip it off. Supporters will get e-mails early in the morning as a reward for contributing, then a formal joint appearance will take place for the media. The two candidates will probably spend the day campaigning in several states.
Politico has a story saying that John McCain is planning to hold a rally in Ohio on his 72nd birthday, Aug. 29. Speculation is that he will name his Veep then to blunt the media coverage of Obama’s speech to 75,000 cheering fans the day before. Why Ohio? Could he have chosen former Ohio representative and director of the OMB Rob Portman? Or is it Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) or former governor Mitt Romney? Or a dark horse? Only McCain and a few intimates know. It would seem logical to announce the VP in the VP’s home state, but politics has its own logic sometimes. McCain has an advantage here because Obama has to go first. By waiting until the Republican convention, McCain can make the convention more exciting since it will have some real news, not just show.

I think the Mccain vp will be big news. Considering his age, a lot of people will be wondering if he will live through his first term in good health. Not trying to be morbid, just bringing up what some people are thinking. If he goes strong with a veep, I believe McCain will get a bump.
i will support Hillary as long as she stays in politics. But I will not vote for BO for any office, no matter what, no matter who says I should. I think there are those still out there who think that Hillary supporters will “come around.” Unfortunately, some have, but I am not one of them.

Yes, disco did go some towards country. However, Imagine finishing college, full of energy, lots of frineds, and all ready to party. WE would go to disco clubs and just dance our a$$’s off. The music was perfect for that. Not much much substance to it otherwise. Initally the BeeGees didn’t do much with disco. Eventually, when they did, it actually was great stuff.

Reading through the comments of Paul on Hillary for VP….the only way I would vote for Obama is if she is on the ticket. Obama can’t win without her. Obama needs the candidate who won the popular vote, the swing states, the big states, the majority of the primaries. He needs a VP who is multi-talented to fill in all his gaps, and he has a lot of gaps. His short list for VP doesn’t fit that. O is going to need all the help he can get. Don’t want to appear to negative, but I really think that people are MISSING the point by saying if Hillary is ON the ticket all is okay.

Reading through the comments of Paul on Hillary for VP….the only way I would vote for Obama is if she is on the ticket. Obama can’t win without her. The sooner he swallows his massive ego and admits that, the better off we all will be. His VP choices are pathetic. Obama needs the candidate who won the popular vote, the swing states, the big states, the majority of the primaries. He needs a VP who is multi-talented to fill in all his gaps, and he has a lot of gaps. His short list for VP doesn’t fit that. O is going to need all the help he can get. I still worry about the voter fraud thing too… not only hope he gets nailed for it in the past but hope it gets stopped in its tracks for the convention. But something tells me that BO is going down… and going down big. I think the dissent isn’t constrained to just PUMA’s anymore. I think it’s spreading outward to even those that supported (or appeared to support) him in the past months.
I think he knows it but his narcissist side of his personality is keeping him in denial which will allow the coup and allow him to be blindsided by his own personality disorder (not to mention his inexperience).

I suggested, putting together a video of PUMAs? We could all email our pics. I think it would be neat to have the faces of PUMAs who have dedicated themselves to this important cause, who can not travel to Denver. What do you think? You could mix the PUMA pics in with Hillary pics. I know we have men PUMAs too, but the Helen Reddy song, “I am Woman” has a lot of meaning that would work really nice with it. Let me know what you think, I have a few pics I would love to send. This could also coincide with the celebration of the Women’s Sufferage of 88 yrs. You could include it in your videos you are going to be playing at the convention.
This could be one way the PUMAs who are not able to attend the convention could be present. Also, all of us at home could light white candles during the time the PUMAs will be holding their ceremony, so we will all be united.

I have a funny story about dreams though. Last night I talked with a friend of mine for hours about the Clinton and BO situation. I fill him in on all the PUMA news and was telling him about the radio information on cheating during the convention nomination and how it was my current concern.
This morning my friend wrote me the following:
“I was semi-awake all night last night with a fever, and because we’d talked about Hillary getting cheated at the convention, in my fever I polled several thousand people as they entered the convention to see who they were voting for to register their votes, almost all were voting for Hillary, but Obama was given all of the votes each time I checked, which was about every 5 minutes. If we talk again in the next day or two (at least until I get a bit better), we’ll need to ease up on the convention talk, please– I’ve counted enough votes in my sleep. (smile)”
I wrote him back and said he cracked me up and I promise not to talk about the convention again until his fever breaks.

I truly believe that BO thinks he is JFK. Think about it, he’s young and has young children, why else would he run now so young and with zero experience. Well I have news for him, JFK was a war veteran and served in congress longer making him far more qualified.
I often use this example when people ask why I won’t vote for him: I was a 911 dispatcher for nearly 3 years. Sorry to have bothered anyone about these old tv shows – someone had mentioned Queen for A Day and I thought I was the only who even remembered that show.
I don’t think this is really off topic though – when you think of how women were portrayed in these early tv shows – and we’re all here because one woman has seriously run for President of the US – we can see how far we’ve come. And how far we have to go because a strong, intelligent forceful woman is still a threat to both men and women. Hillary would have been less of a threat if she were a ditz like Lucy Ricardo….JMHO

I agree-BO did much better in debates when HRC was always given the question first, and he just reiterated what she said…..and then had the opportunity to say something negative about her. He had a lot of help from the moderators in those debates. When Stephanolopous moderated and didn’t cover his @ss-he really sucked. The debates really make me furious-Tim Russert was horrible.

to demonstrate EXACTLY how the the results were purposely manipulated and skewed to secure Obama’s nomination.
Please look at her excellent example from Nevada– a state (as you know), Clinton won.
“On January 19, 2008, Hillary Clinton won the Democratic Caucus 51%-45%, a comfortable six point win. The estimated National Delegates were Clinton 13 and Obama 12. At the County the percentages changed to 51% to 49% Clinton and the estimated National Delegate count was now Obama 13, Clinton 12. Nevada’s twenty-five “pledged” delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention were chosen on May 17, Barack Obama had 55% of the votes and Clinton had 45% of the votes when the party had its state convention. There are 14 national delegates for Obama and 11 for Clinton. By time the contest reached the state convention and the delegate count was now Obama 14, Clinton 11. How is this 16 point swing possible? This is a four delegate swing. How did Clinton lose two delegates and Obama gain two delegates?”

Clinton won the state 51%-45%
…but ended up with 3 fewer delegates!

In one caucus they ran out of ballots–so they used “Post-It” notes–not surprisingly, when the final votes were counted there were more “stickies” than persons present…

I just wanted to tell you how much you have energized me during the primary and still do except for your endorsement of Senator Obama. I have never given to a presidential candidate in my life or became involved in a campaign. I know in your heart and soul, you do not believe him to be the “best” candidate. As we all know, he was “selected” not elected. The fraud in the caucus votes is beyond belief. I share this information with you Senator Clinton since I believe in you and as we all know, truth cannot be hid for the sake of a political party. The whole nation needs to be aware of the type of person that the Democratic Party is attempting to place in office and only you with God’s wisdom can stop this.
Those of us that have started to look at him and his credentials know we can never and I repeat never vote for him! He is beyond dishonest…he is evil! That is why in a church setting, he could barely answer a question with his head held high and look someone in the eye. God exposes evil by body language and his eyes down most of the time, was only God bringing what is in him to submission.
Please speak up and allow God to give you the words that will cut to the souls of Americans and open their eyes and expose this deceitfulness that the DNC has endorsed. Our great nation depends on it. When I heard that Nancy Pelosi state, “God has given us Obama”…talk about a lie straight from hell! I, along with many believers, will continue to pray for you and your family for His protection and wisdom in this dire matter.
Again, I want to say, “Thank You” and I know this has been a difficult road for you and your family but you are not alone; there are millions of us (actually more than 18 million) that are standing with you. The DNC will even ask you to become VP, just say, “No thank you.” God has your back covered and will give you the words to speak. Speak them loud and clear!
As you take a stand for what is right, you will be elevated to the position that God has already ordained for you…President of the United States. We all know if the real truth was told during the primary season, you would be the nominee. Now is the time to speak the truth. God has begun the process but just as in days of old, He needs a willing person to stand and speak the truth and that person is you!
You may ask me, how do you know this; so I ask you…have you ever seen this type of opposition during a campaign? The answer of course is “no” but as the veil of lies fell from the eyes of millions, we have all agreed on one thing…No Obama for the USA!

Hillary said that if there is a 2nd roll call, which she does not think will happen, she wants her delegates to vote for Obama. They will make some kind of motion for this to take place, but she never (key word here never) said she would be releasing her delegates. She also said that she wants her delegates to do whatever it takes to defeat Mccain when they get home. Also Bill will be making speeches encouraging the delegates to vote for Obama.
Now for VP she said she has no idea who it will be. The delegates never asked her if she would accept it. So that never got discussed. He did say the delegates did ask questions but it was mostly logistics.

Hillary talked mostly about the platform, she says she liked how it came out.
There will be a ‘real roll-call vote’ with a paper trail. They do expect bho to win. But they did not release the delegates.
There will be Clinton whips to keep us informed on the floor, two from each state. We will all meet on Wednesday at 1pm with HRC.
They were extremely careful with their words, they gave us no big news, no big hope.
But they did NOT break our hearts.
So it goes on to Denver!

Sorry, I don’t why I can’t seem to type anymore.
One of the delegates asked about a ‘paper trail’ of the votes. Ickes answered that the delegates will vote on a ballot, sign by their name and vote for who they want. The ballots will be turned in for the talley. That is the paper trail.
Also, when the talley’s are read out in the roll-call of states, some states will ‘pass’. When the roll-call is complete, they will go back and pick up those states who passed. It is expected that one of those states will put bho over the top. This is normal to allow home states to bring the last votes for the winner.
I repeat that they gave us no new hope…HRC did sound subdued but not depressed. She was business-like. I imagine everything she told us was exactly what she told NM the other day.
All the normal words that we can’t stand to hear. But nothing has changed really, at all. Some of the discussion was about logistics, ‘whips’ on the floor. And a meeting on Wed at the Denver Convention Center at 1pm with HRC and all her delegates.
Nothing was said about our votes in Denver. They didn’t say to vote for her or vote for him. Didn’t come up.
I’m rattling a little as I remember things but that was the gis of it.
Also, and this is a big deal you guys. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones is in the hospital. Please send her your love if you can. She’s been a friend of ours all the way.
Last thing, in case you wanna verify I’m a hillfan and not a troll or poser of any strip, just take a click at my name and see my blog. It’s all Clintons all the time. NoBama under any circumstances.

It hit downtown San Antonio mostly, and I should be getting another downpour pretty soon. Some areas up to 5″. I’ve had almost 4″ in 2 days. Unfortunately, we’ve been pretty much in a draught and areas can’t drain fast enough. So far no tornadoes – just heavy downpours. No complaint about the rain – we need it.

For Senator Clinton to accept the V.P. post, in my view would be Political suicide for her for many reasons –she should refuse it.
She would be boxed and wrapped for 8 years and in 2016 she might have to contend with upcoming intelligent younger women, now that Senator Clinton has

If she was to accept the V.P. position it would add further stress to her ardent supporters, many of

Has anyone seen the new electoral map on realclear? They added in the tossup states. States that McCain leads in, but by less than 5 %, they went ahead and painted red, and vice versa. With that map, McCain wins with 273 electorals against Obamas 263.

Absolutely prayers to Stephanie Tubbs-Jones. I really like that woman a lot. She spoke with Hillary at the Rally they held in Charlotte NC. I had seen her campaign on tv but my girlfriend wasn’t familiar with her. Needless to say she is a riot when she speaks and had the crowd going. She became my girlfriend’s new favorite person and she suggested how cool she would be as a vp choice. Hope that fiestiness and spirit of hers helps her out in this situation.

I did call Diane Feinstein’s office and she will be sending a delegate in her place to Denver. Obviously, Gwatney cannot and, if Tubb Jones does not regain conciousness, she will be unable to send someone in her place. At this point, the most important thing is to pray for Tubb Jones and her family. I intend to call her office when it opens and hope and pray she is going to be alright.

You know Hillary doesn’t have a choice but to pressure her delegates to vote Obama. They are all over her to support him. And they will blame her if he loses. Theres no way I will vote for Obama ever. If the Dems want to win back the WH, they should stop playing games every year and put up a worthy candidate. Hillary is most likely being threatened by the DNC that they will hold back funds and support for her re-election. Just like they’ve done everyone else. How anyone could support a party that uses these tactics, and ran by people like Dean, Pelosi and Brazzil is beyond me. ANyone paying any attention to whats happening here couldn’t possibly vote Obama. They have taken away the power of the people with strong armed tactics. Its time we took it back and show them in the end who has the power. And maybe, just maybe, they’ll think twice before they insult our intelligence and spit in our faces again. Get in line? Yeah, the DNC needs to get back in line and remember who they work for, us.

I was going through the channels and stopped to hear about the Olympics on CNN and at the bottom of their ticker I started reading they had said that Governor Rendell from my state WILL vote for Hillary at the convention, at the time of roll call!

The commercial will air on CBS in Denver this Friday night, during the Late Show with David Letterman, which is airing right after the Denver Broncos football game that will be broadcast on the same station. It will also run on Saturday during the local news program on CBS in Denver, which airs from 5 pm to 6 pm.
We will announce final TV commercial placements tomorrow – after tomorrow, submission deadlines make it impossible to run the commercial prior to the roll call vote. How often and where we can run the commercial in the days leading up to the roll call vote on Wednesday depends, as always, on continuing contributions from supporters of our cause.”
