I have a grey kitten named Myst. I’ve had her since she was 2 or 3 days old. She was abandoned and I’m her mommy. She’s about 11 weeks old now and I call her my little puma. I have a 70 pound dog and little Myst chases Mindy all over the house nipping at her heels. I always think of Rendell’s Hounds. Moral of the story: no matter how small the PUMA, they fear no HOUNDS.

I may seem like I have a lot of “confidence” some times – but, I struggle with it a lot.
Wanted to be a “writer” since a child and I just started fooling with music when I was around 10.
Just didn’t have what it takes in other areas. Have always had people aroud who have at least kept me writing and trying to create.
I love to sing but don’t like the sound of my own singing voice- not uncommon I hear.

We took a cab and got off at her apt. since we were on our way to Central Park. His doorman and reception man was very nice. Unfortunately I was told that she had left for the weekend and will be back on Monday.
I asked if she was Geraldine, the one that is in politics and often appears on TV (just to make sure). And he checked and confirmed that my package was recorded as received on Friday. He could not tell me about the morning mail as he is the later afternoon reception person. He gave me the phone number there and I left her a note which he put in an envelope – very nice man called Jesus. In my note I asked if I could call her on Monday and I wanted to know if she thought Denver was just symbolic for Hillary.
So folks – I am positive she got the cards.

I just scrolled up and read the kind words from my fellow Pumas. My donation is just how I feel about Hillary and then some. Hillary inspired me so much since following her at this Primary. I believe that what she did for me and how she presented herself was worth more than any self help seminar – I learned so much from her and she made me a stronger , more selfless person.

My 11 year old cat had a seizure today, never happened before. We had to take her to Animal Emergency. $300. for today and more next week when we take her to a vet neurologist.

My original post: Unfortunately, “fair and balanced” FOX is trying its best to compliment Obama too. Every time someone says he gave strong answers, was at ease, was well-spoken, etc., I want to gag. FOX is trying to present the candidates as being equally strong, albeit in different areas. FOX believes it will be a very competitive race.

Update: By the end, there was an acknowledgment that McCain performed better than expected and that Obama didn’t live up to expectations. But I still think FOX gave Obama too much credit. And FOX wants us to believe that McCain made a major gaffe on his definition of “rich.” They think Obama’s campaign is going to crucify him for his joke about $5 million.

I live in the district on one of the Congressmen who is an SD who took a donation from BO and voted for him, against the popular vote of his district. There are 15 of them listed on Murphy’s blog of several weeks ago

If you live in any of these delegates districts or states, it a letter/fax/email would have more impact. I sent one to mine, asking him to reconsider his vote because his constituency voted that way, BO has been flip flopping and he is spending tens of millions of dollars a month on media, barely maintaining a 3% margin over McCain and will probably not win.
Then I asked his to consider how it looked for him to have taken that money. At the time, he may not have know how critical the SD vote would be, but now it would look very bad is he voted for BO. Then, especially if BO gets nominated and loses, we will really need all our Democrats in the legislature. So I suggested he send the money back if he had to vote for BO because we cannot afford to lose him, too.
The states involved were Indiana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New Jersey, Florida, California, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Arizona, Ohio and West Virginia.
Send them a note and let them know you care.

She poured her heart and money into Hillary Clinton’s campaign and she is thinking of voting for John McCain, the Republican candidate, for president.
She is not impressed by Barack Obama and doubts he will reach the White House. “My loyalty is to the Democrats winning. Barack Obama is going to have a serious problem getting elected, for good reason,” she said in an interview.
“The party needs to face the fact that without Hillary Clinton on the ticket, the Democrats will probably lose.”
Rothschild, 54, is a New York businesswoman and top fundraiser for Clinton who married into the British banking dynasty.
The billionaire Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, 22 years her senior and former chairman of the family firm, NM Rothschild, will be with her in Denver when Obama is crowned the victor. She regards the presumptive Democratic nominee, 47, as something of a usurper.
The Rothschilds spent the night of their wedding dinner in the Lincoln bedroom at the White House when Bill Clinton was president, so her loyalty to Hillary is understandable. However, the passionate distrust of Obama shared by many Clinton supporters is turning into a headache for the Democrats.

Rothschild is the founder of Together4Us, a group formed to “honour” Clinton and the nearly 18m voters who supported her in the primaries. Among its demands were a state-by-state roll-call of votes – a final show of muscle by the vanquished Clinton – and a prime speaking slot for her.
They got what they wanted after Obama caved in last week. Seasoned advisers fear the convention is shaping up to be a divisive Bill and Hillary psycho-drama. “It’s not something that I would have recommended, but they’re trying to bend over backwards as far as they can to accommodate her,” said Panetta. “I’m a little disturbed that this keeps playing out.”
The former president and first lady will both deliver big speeches, while diehard Hillary supporters will hold rallies and acclaim their candidate during the roll-call of votes.
“I think the roll-call will be a cathartic moment,” said Rothschild. “There will be a lot of people who will say, ‘Oh, what might have been’ and will vote for Obama but there will be a lot of tears.”
The roll-call will not be enough to bring Rothschild back into the fold, however. “We’re not going to win by pretending problems with Barack Obama don’t exist. He has a huge problem connecting with ordinary Americans, who think, ‘He doesn’t understand me.’ He is not modest; he is arrogant. He radiates elitism.”
It is a surprising charge from a wealthy socialite, but Rothschild believes she understands true grit. She was born Lynn Forester from New Jersey and built her multi-million-dollar telecommunications company before she met her husband. “It is not disloyal to raise legitimate questions about Barack Obama,” she said. “He started running for president before he even set foot in the US Senate.
“No matter what he says, he has not explained properly why he sat next to Reverend Jeremiah Wright [his former pastor] for 20 years. He talks about an end to partisanship but he has no record of reaching across the aisle for any purpose.”
The Atlantic magazine revealed last week that Mark Penn, Clinton’s former chief strategist, proposed targeting Obama’s lack of American roots during the primary campaign.
“I cannot imagine America electing a president during a time of war who is not at his centre fundamentally American in his thinking and in his values,” he wrote in an internal campaign e-mail.
Although Rothschild shuttles between London and New York, she shares Penn’s assessment. “Barack Obama can use the words ‘the American dream’, but they don’t resonate,” she said. “He magnified the problem by going to Berlin and calling himself a citizen of the world.” She also resents a lack of effort to pay off Clinton’s $20m campaign debt. “He has provided her with a pittance compared to what the Clintons have given Obama,” Rothschild said. “Her debt could have been cleared within 10 days. It’s ungracious.”
She is particularly incensed by the treatment of Bill Clinton during the primaries, when the former president was accused of playing the race card. “Barack Obama would not stand up and say, ‘It’s outrageous, it’s not permissible’ and speak up for him.” How Bill Clinton will perform at the convention is a source of nervousness for Democrats. “Clearly his wounds are deeper than I thought,” said Panetta, “but ultimately he understands what he has got to do in terms of supporting the candidate and the party.”
The enduring hostility to Obama is reflected in a Pew poll, published last week, showing that 18% of Clinton supporters intend to vote for McCain. With polling averages close to a dead heat between McCain and Obama, every vote counts.
Rothschild has not yet made up her mind. “I haven’t ruled out voting for McCain,” she said. “I like him a lot.” She is waiting to see who Obama picks as his running mate and has her heart set on Clinton.
The favourite is Joe Biden, 65, who chairs the Senate foreign relations committee. He once described Obama as “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean”, sealing his reputation for putting his foot in his mouth, but he has the security and foreign policy credentials to take on McCain.
Biden will speak on Wednesday next week – the same day as the eventual vice-presidential nominee. But Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, another fancied choice, and Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico also have speaking slots then.
Both McCain and Obama were due to court evangelical voters yesterday at the California mega-church of pastor Rick Warren. In a recent poll, McCain led Obama by 67% to 25% among evangelical white Protestants, a gap Obama hopes to narrow.
Warren told The Sunday Times: “Without doubt, Obama is more comfortable talking the language of religion [than McCain]. In the past, Republicans talked about God and Jesus and the Democrats were silent. This year, their roles are reversed.”
The meeting, he said, was designed to make a statement that the “era of the partisan religious right” was over.

Since 1982, Operation Smile has provided free reconstructive surgery to more than 100,000 children and young adults in 25 countries. Cindy has assisted on volunteer missions to Morocco, India, and Vietnam. She is scheduled to return to Vietnam on another mission during the summer of 2008.
Cindy is currently on a leave of absence from the Board of Directors of CARE, USA, which works to fight global poverty, particularly among women. She traveled to Tanzania in February 2007 with CARE.
While she typically leaves politics to her husband, Cindy was an instrumental part in her husband’s run for the presidency in 2000. That year, she was chosen to represent the state of Arizona at the Republican National Convention as the Chairwoman of the Arizona Delegation. During the campaign, she traveled extensively, speaking to groups across America about Senator McCain and her passion for volunteering to help the less fortunate.

I have not seen or heard anything about any type of charity or volunteer work with Barack or Michelle. I dont think I have heard of anything even involving the kids and their school or extra currlicular activites.
To me that is a bit strange.

My original post: Unfortunately, “fair and balanced” FOX is trying its best to compliment Obama too. Every time someone says he gave strong answers, was at ease, was well-spoken, etc., I want to gag. FOX is trying to present the candidates as being equally strong, albeit in different areas. FOX believes it will be a very competitive race.

Update: By the end, there was an acknowledgment that McCain performed better than expected and that Obama didn’t live up to expectations. But I still think FOX gave Obama too much credit. And FOX wants us to believe that McCain made a major gaffe on his definition of “rich.” They think Obama’s campaign is going to crucify him for his joke about $5 million.

Well, “crucify” was my word. FOX actually said they think it will end up fodder for an attack ad. (“Fodder” is my word too.)
When McCain was asked to define “rich,” he gave a relatively long answer, starting with a disclaimer that he knew many people who had a lot of money but weren’t happy.
Then he said something to the effect that “rich” meant people who could afford to own their own home, pay the mortgage, send their kids to college, etc. Basically, he was referring to people who could afford to live comfortably, pay for basic needs and wants, and not stress about paying their bills.
From there, he talked about taxes and the fact that he doesn’t want to raise anyone’s taxes. He doesn’t want to redistribute wealth.
Finally, at the end, he made an offhand comment about an income of $5 million being the threshold of “rich.” That’s the one that pundits attacked.
Sorry I can’t be more specific. I was listening with TV going in the background while I was trying to get some work done.

In this case, the “O” stands for OXYGEN–and ya’ll are going to need it more of it. Altitude sickness will feel like a case of the flu with dizziness and can last a week or two depending on your Bod makeup.
So just be aware of it and DRINK THE H2O to fend off the symptoms.
Wish I could go with the Pac down there, but guess I’ll keep vigil here and continue spreadin’ our cause–even here in Oregon.

I didn’t see or hear the forum, just read highlights about it on line. But, Orange County should be McCain territory, though I don’t know if that particular church was more Obama-friendly. Orange County is one of the wealthiest demographics in the country and very Republican. So, if McCain couldn’t get a warm welcome there, he’d really be in trouble.

Regarding Barack’s figures of middle class being in the threshold of $150K—that is a figure that his advisors give him to justify his economic/tax plan. If those numbers don’t match up, (which in the real world, they don’t) he then will up the tax burden on down the ladder. He is starting HIGH and going for the low. His HOPE and CHANGE will NOT be CHEAP.

I’m amazed at how much I’m beginning to like McCain. I had watched a few of the Republican debates, even though I had already made up my mind to vote for Hillary. I didn’t like McCain then. I didn’t think I could stand to listen to him if he became the nominee. But he has really surprised me.

I started listening more to him during the debate at the Reagan Libary–before Romney dropped out. I watch with a buddy to to see what the last of all of the Repub. candidates together had to say and who would start falling out afterwards. I think it was before Super Tuesday and also before Hillary’s and NOBama’s debate in CA. We agreed that McCain was going to pull it off. The press had their teeth in Romney’s throat. We mentioned at the time that the feeding freenzy for MSM on the Republican side was Romney and on the Dems–Hillary. Hillary and McCain are friends and she said that he had a lot to bring to the office—-NoBama had a speech.
Jeremy..I’m retired but still take no dependents, taxed as a single, have additional taken out each nonth, and still have to worry if it’s enough at tax time. I too have a savings for this. And what is so sad is I have a little (and I do mean little!) stock I inherited from my mother and just have to let it sit cause can’t afford the taxes if I sell and there wouldn’t be anything left anyway!!!

#836 Taffy–My aunt (second MOM) is similar. My uncle passed away a couple of years ago, no dependents, house paid for, stock options, etc.—and considered lucky by many. She had to get all new AC put into her house in June and paid for it with money that was in a higher paying percentage savings account—not just a regular savings account. Anyway–when she had the money transferred to her checking to pay for it—the associate at Merrill Lynch reminded her to make sure that she added that as “earned income” for 2008 taxes. Her own money and it was taxed because she used it. I am no accountant and I am sure it can be explained, but I say B. S.!

No the feeling. It seems like we do is pay taxes every few months (estimated). Taxes have been killing us since the Graham-Rudman Act during the Reagan era. It just doesn’t get any better. Try to invest, try to save, and they just take it away. I don’t mind the idea of a tax, but it angers me when its misused at our expense. If I saw it going toward roads, infrastructure, public service (fire and police), and health care, then it wouldn’t be so bad, but when I see the taxes going to someone’s pet project (the pork) like sports arenas and congressman’s trips to islands to learn about the life of a lizard, then it fries me. Hang in there.

Thanks for noticing my post. I started posting on Hillary’s website back in February, and I was one of the first ones here when this site started up. I can’t get here as often now that it is summer, but it bums me out that when I do come over lately, no one seems to notice or care. I watched the Saddleback question and answer forum and I have to say I was touched and impressed with John McCain’s answers. I have been a democrat my entire voting life and never thought a republican could ever interest me. John McCain was composed, funny, intelligent, heart warming, honest, experienced, and completely trustworthy in all his answers. He truly loves this country and has not only given his years of service but has gone beyond the call of duty. I have NO problem voting for him if Hillary is not an option.
Barrack Obama used up so much time with ahhhh, ummmm, uhhhhhh, and then went on talking about what was not specific to the question asked. I have watched him many times and the one thing that is consistent with him is he talks alot and says very little. He pandered to the evangelicas tonight with his answers. I never once sensed his answers came from his heart and soul. He really blew it big time when he said determing when life begins is beyond his pay grade. What the he!! is “pay grade”??? I could not believe when asked who the 3 people he would consider his go to people would be he said, his wife, his grandmother and then mentioned a few constiutants. This man shows such lack of experience and maturity and his answers confirm it. Without his speech writer, teleprompter and fanfare he just stutters and stumbles for words. He mentioned he would not have voted for Clarance to be on the Supreme court due to lack of experience yet he is asking Americans to vote for him with lack of experience.
As for Rick Warren I felt he was fair and balanced. He joked with both candidates. He did seem the need to fill in a few answers for Obama and finish his sentences for him when he realized he was at a loss for words. That was not necessary for McCain since John was quick to answer, was decisive and didn’t go on and on or off the topic. I did feel a few of John’s answers got to the heart of Warren and choked him up a couple of times. I know I found myself wiping away some tears especially when he told the story of the POW decision he had to make and when his wife Cindy brought home their orphaned baby daughter.
What has Michelle Obama done besides sit on a non profit hospital board and make tons of money, and as someone earlier said, go out and shop for clothes to look like Jackie Kennedy Onasis?
Barrack and Michelle are like a wrapped up Christmas present sitting under the tree. The package is all wrapped in beautiful expensive paper with big bright shiny ribbons and bows. The anticipation while looking at that present is so exciting that you can barely wait for Christmas morning to open it. You run to the present, you break the ribbon and toss the bow to the side, you rip the pretty paper and open the box to find yet another fuzzy bathrobe, when you were expecting so much more because the package looked to great! Not that fuzzy bathrobes are so bad, but then again the gift seemed to offer so much more while it sat under that tree looking so great.
I don’t really care what the polls say as to who scored the best or won, I personally felt as it seemed most of the above comments agree with that John McCain is a person we can vote for if not Hillary and be okay with it. He definetly showed experience, leadership, and strength tonight. Coming from a democrat you can take that to the bank.

Ouch! $10,000? In this country, no one should have to be living on that amount. There are very few safety nets for those of us past 50. I see so many friends who have lost their jobs of 25 or 30 years. It takes time and money to retrain and usually businesses want to hire people younger. They say that there is “no age discrimination” but thats a farce. This country is notorious for not taking care of its children and its elderly. The problem is the term, elderly, hasn’t been clearly defined in the mind of leaders or citizens of this country. Part of the problem is that people are living longer and have higher quality lives because of technology and medical science. Our leaders feel that we can work longer and be taxed longer. But it doesn’t play out that way for so many people past fifty. Hang in there. It sounds like you have some support. That’s really important.

When I was little it was backed by labor and gold. Then Silver, then nothing.
I remember when buying things on credit was about as low on the social scale as you could go. If a person couldn’t pay cash for something they didn’t need it. And gas was 18 cents a gallon….could drive around all week on $1.00 gas.
Now, if you owe alot, but have alot of stuff, people think they are rich, when in truth, everything they have actually belongs to someone else and the day will come, yes, it will come when they want it back. Just look at all the homes being foreclosed on.
Today people don’t know how to live within their means and the least little upset sends then to the Doc for some tranquilizers.
I like McCains definition of ‘rich’. Those of us that know how to survive are the rich ones. We are the ones the ‘rich’ ones wil turn to when they can’t eat there fancy cars and bling.

I had an argument with a friend a couple of years ago when he insisted the economy was doing better. What was he basing that on? How much people were spending for Christmas presents. I kept telling him that wealth and the state of our economy was not based on what people spent but on what they saved Going deeper in debt to buy Christmas presents doesn’t mean people are doing well. (He later admitted that I was right.)

THE ECONOMICALLY VULNERABLE AND ELDERLY POOR AMERICAN

Those who proclaim that most of America’s elderly are living in economic bliss are ignoring not only the millions of elderly poor, but also the millions who are economically vulnerable. According to the U.S. Bureau of Census, approximately 8 million elderly Americans fall into the “economically vulnerable” category. When these people are added to the millions of elderly men and women officially counted as poor, it is clearly a myth that the elderly control the nation’s wealth.
Many older people are facing a failed retirement, and they continue to work just becasue they like to work, but because they have to work to survive.
The plain and simple fact is that millions of elderly American’s live on the edge as marginal members of society. This accounts for a majority of the total American elderly population (U.S. Bureau of Census, 2005).
This situation is particularly precarious for certain groups of older Americans, such as ethnic minority elderly who account for 70% of the poor and economically vulnerable in the United States (Social Work Almanac, 1995). Elderly Americans with incomes between the poverty lines are in fact uniquely vulnerable. They run the greatest risk of falling through the cracks of the “safety net” of programs intended to alleviate poverty and near-poverty. Typically, the economically vulnerable have too much income to qualify for means tested programs such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid. Yet, their limited incomes make it difficult to purchase basic necessities, particularly if they encounter extraordinary and unexpected expenses such as high medical costs not covered under Medicare.
Elderly Americans who are economically vulnerable are less likely to be renting in subsidized or below market housing, are less likely to have Medi-Gap coverage and are more than likely to rely on their Social Security checks as their primary source of income. When facing economic and/or health problems, the only way they can improve their well being is to spend down their savings and thereby qualify for means tested cash and in-kind support.
The risk of being widowed or of being hospitalized unexpectedly means that the elderly may be more vulnerable to sudden and unpredictable changes in their family and financial relationships than any other adult age group. If their incomes drop, they have more difficulty in recouping their losses.
For most elderly poor, housing represents the number one expense. For poor and economically vulnerable, the cost of providing and maintaining shelter can consume a third or more of total income. Housing is the most immediate visible sign of deprivation, especially in the inner cities and many rural areas.
Although many elderly may own their own homes, large numbers of elderly poor live in deteriorating or substandard housing or in housing that eats up so much of their monthly income that little is left for other basic necessities. For those who refinanced when interest rates were low, many have already spent the nest egg of equity they held in their homes, and an unprecedented number are facing foreclosure.
These circumstances for our nation’s elderly underscore the basic fact that a large number of elderly Americans are living in poverty or dangerously close to it. Three out of every seven elderly Americans are either poor or economically vulnerable. These facts relate that we have a long way to go before we can declare victory against poverty for the elderly. Too many elderly spend their “golden years” living in the shadow of poverty.
With the current American wars abroad, the higher prices in gasoline and foodstuffs, economic debt and housing markets facing tumultuous times, we can expect that our nation’s elderly will be faced with fewer viable alternative in the future. There are resources available to help our nation’s elderly, but first, we must rid ourselves of the myths that help ageism flourish in our society.

“What does it mean to you to trust in Christ?” Pastor Rick Warren asked Sen.. Barack Obama, D-Ill., Saturday evening. “And what does it mean on a daily basis? I mean, what does that really look like?”
For the crowd of more than 2,000 sitting at Saddleback Church, Obama had the right answer, on this one at least.
“As a starting point, it means I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and that I am redeemed through him. That is a source of strength and sustenance on a daily basis. I know that I don’t walk alone, and I know that if I can get myself out of the way, that I can maybe carry out in some small way what he intends. And it means that those sins that I have on a fairly regular basis hopefully will be washed away.” Quoting from the book of Matthew, Obama said it also meant an obligation to “the least of these.”
But where Obama had more trouble with the crowd – which sat politely throughout the forum – was when Warren delved into the social issues that put Obama and his liberal views at odds with the majority of white evangelicals.
“Forty million abortions since Roe v. Wade,” noted Warren. “At what point does a baby get human rights in your view?”
Obama said that “whether you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade. “
“I am pro-choice,” the Democratic senator acknowledged. I believe in Roe v. Wade and have come to that conclusion not because I’m pro-abortion, but because ultimately I don’t think women make these decisions casually. They wrestle with these things in profound ways. In consultation with their pastors or spouses or their doctors and their family members.”
He mentioned that everyone could find common ground on the goal of reducing the number of abortions, which he’d put into the Democratic party platform. No one seemed to care much.
Likewise, Obama’s support for research involving embryonic stem cell research was met with the distant sound of crickets.
“Keep in mind the way that stem cell legislation that was vetoed by the president was structured, what it said was you could only use embryos that were about to be discarded, that had been created as a consequence of attempts at in vitro fertilization,” Obama pointed out.
He also suggested that “it’s not like people who are in favor of stem cell research are going around thinking to themselves, ‘Boy let’s go destroy some embryos.’ That’s not the perspective that I think people come to that issue on.”
Asked which existing Supreme Court Justice he, as president, would not have nominated, Obama immediately said he “would not have nominated Clarence Thomas…I don’t think that he was a strong enough jurist or legal thinker at the time for that elevation. Setting aside the fact that I profoundly disagree with his interpretation of a lot of constitution.”
For good measure, he added he would not have nominated Antonin Scalia, “although I don’t think there’s any doubt about his intellectual brilliance.”
Chief Justice John Roberts, whose confirmation Obama voted against, “was a tougher question only because I find him to be a very compelling person.”
Another point of clear difference came when Obama was asked whether faith- based organizations should have to forfeit federal funds if they discriminate in hiring for those federally-funded programs — an issue of importance for religious conservatives who want to be able to hire people of their own faith.
Obama said, “We do have to be careful to make sure that we are not creating a situation where people are being discriminated against using federal money. “
Warren tried to make Obama see the issue from his point of view. Imagine if Saddleback Church wanted to provide aid to Hurricane Katrina victims, he said, “and I wanted to hire some people to do relief…If I took federal money to help in that relief I wouldn’t be able to say, ‘I only want people to believe like we do?’”
“We do want to make sure of is that as a general principal we’re not using federal funding to discriminate,” Obama again said, “but that is only when it comes to the narrow program that is being funded by the federal government. that does not affect any of the other ministries that are taking place.”
Obama found more support when he said, “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now … for me as a Christian it’s also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.”
He received applause for that sentiment and also, interestingly enough, when he said he believed in civil unions for same sex couples, so that “gay partners to want to visit each other in the hospital for the state to say, you know what, that’s all right, I don’t think that in any way inhibits my core beliefs about what marriage is. I think my faith is strong enough and my marriage is strong enough that I can afford those civil rights to others even if I have a different perspective or a different view.”
A lighter moment came when Warren, a best-selling author, asked Obama how he defines rich when it comes to taxes.
“You know, if you’ve got book sales of $25 million…” Obama joked.
“Okay, all right, I’m not asking about me,” Warren laughed.
Obama said that those making more than $250,000 are doing well.
“I’m not suggesting that everybody that is making over $250,000 is living on easy street,” he said, “but the question that I think we have to ask ourselves is if we believe in good schools, if we believe in good roads, if we want to make sure that kids can go to college, if we don’t want to leave a mountain of debt for the next generation, then we’ve got to pay for these things. They don’t come for free. And it is irresponsible, I believe it is irresponsible intergenerationally for us to invest or for us to spend $10 billion a month on a war and not having a way to pay for it. That I think is unacceptable.”

About the elderly – my mother-in-law owned her own home, had a small savings, and had a vehicle, and had a small retirement and social security. She was very conservative with her money and never had any extras. She never qualified for medicaid – only medicare. When she became ill, we tried to get her extra services through local agencies but the list was very long. She worked her entire life for what little she had!! It’s sad how we desert our elderly who have never asked anything from their government.

There are so many like your mother-in-law. My mother-in-law was in a similar situation. Thank heavens, she had us close by to help when the it became financially and physically tough. But that’s not usually the case any more as family move around and apart so much of the time.

My mother in law owned her own home, too..but that was all she had. One of her children was constantly taking everything he could get from her, so she had no savings left at the end. She existed on about $700 montly from SS and a little bitty retirement check and the generosity of the rest of us..we bought her food and paid her bills when she could not and that was frequent. When she got sick, it was even worse for her., the govt gave her $ 24 in food stamps! Please! This woman worked hard her whole life and had crap..just a house and that was all.

I have always been a Clinton suppporter. I did not have a problem with Bill’s personal issue. Morally I expected more from him but it in NO way distracted him from being the great President he was. I was appalled at the Obama camp for trying to label Bill a racist. I read his book and he did more for the black communities then any other President besides Lincoln and Johnson. That hurt Bill deeply because he knew it was to hit him personally. It’s difficult to answer back when you are being attacked as being racist. Look at Geraldine Ferraro. It’s a shame the race card was played. Yet now Howard Dean (Howdy Doody) calls the republican party the “white” party and its just laughed off.

Sorry, but no. I used to pray that would happen, but the feeling in the pit of my stomach tells me no. After what happened at the Rules Committee meeting, I now know that this process has been rigged and that will not change. I do not believe that the DNC will allow Hillary to be the winner. They have not allowed it up ’till now, and they won’t allow it next week. This has been a crooked process, and I don’t think any of us have any control over any of it. Don’t get me wrong, I think PUMAs are making a huge difference, but I don’t think it is in time to get Hillary nominated this year.
Just my opinion, but that doesn’t stop me from praying for a miracle.

I was touched by your post. I would refocus on your short and long term goals. I’m very familiar with this area because I work with job candidates that are retraining to find other types of employment.
The key in finding meaningful work is to discover your interests and strengths. Are you a people person or do you prefer to work alone? Your interests could run the gamut from cooking, sewing, playing music, computers, working with numbers, blue collar trades, etc.
If you break down your goals in small steps, I find that it is easier to manage. There are career planning classes at most community colleges. Invest in yourself because you are worth it!

I don’t know the answer to your question. However, weeks ago, I corresponded with a delegate regarding the process for getting Hillary’s name in nomination. The information he sent me began with the text below. Note the words “Temporary Rules of Procedure.” It suggests that the rules can indeed be changed before the convention.
There was nothing in the text that he sent me about registering votes on a tally sheet.

I was over on riverdaughter’s site for awhile. Poor thing, she was talking about how her members donated to our site today, total of $1K. I don’t know if we blew away that total or if they were on our blog. I hope Murphy got over 5k today. I would really like some money to be left over some time so she could buy a more beefed up webhost. One that could handle all us talkative PUMAs, then again, maybe some will leave PUMApac if Hillary is kicked around at the convention.

That is great. I know someone asked precious about Mt. Rushmore awhile back…he said it wouldn’t happen, his ears are too big. He should have said his ego…didn’t he say he had ego problems when he was young tonight on tv?
#1028 Taffy… Yes. Taffy… That’s me. Here is the funny part. I wrote that song last year after I had broken my left arm in five places. Had to have surgery to pin it back together!
Three weeks into the healing, the song hit me and I couldn’t stand it. So I removed that “removable” cast (only when bathing – they said – with sling on) and picked out the piece on my guitar.
That is the original recording in my home studio, broken uncasted arm and all. It was one of those triumphant moments, when I knew I would be able to play again! I never re-recorded it – despite its imperfections.
“Get back up… ” You know.

007 girl, you may not have seen my post this morning but I dreamed that I got somehow swept into an Obama rally & ended up on the stage waiting for him to speak w/some bots. First I was like, “wtf?,” but then I decided “hey, I’ll be able to ask him some real questions right to his face!” However, all he did was give handouts to the crowd, and one of them was just coloring paper (!) and the other one turned out to be a diagram of the place w/a sign “Lost & Found” and someone had written “staff” over it!
The right/left wing bloggers and mainstream media may claim that PUMA’s are “small in number.”
They might think that if only about 1 or 2 thousand PUMAs are there, but they shouldn’t be stupid in thinking that all the ones that can’t go to Denver, either because of jobs, family or money…still have one powerful vote each in November.
If they scr@w Hillary at the convention, they have to worry about all the time until November for our numbers to grow.
