Overnight Calm Before the Storm

Another amazing day Puma PAC. Tens of thousands of letters and cards, thousands of phone calls — WOW! In between planning for Denver and receiving phone calls or emails from The Colorado Statesman, Newsday, USA Today, The New York Observer, and NPR, I’ve also been communicating with higher-up political types, and Ladies & Gents, the stories aint pretty. Gov. Rendell’s pressure on delegates to pipe down and fall in line is just one of many in a concerted, serious, and outrageous effort to hold the Unity Pony in check at ALL COSTS. Delegates in Colorado being threatened with replacement if they sign the 300 Petition; delegates in Kentucky told they will be “primaried” and punished by the Party if they ask for a roll call vote and nomination. And outrageous (and I mean OUTRAGEOUS) pressure on Hillary to RELEASE her delegates immediately in order to KILL the NOMINATION question DEAD.

More details, FIRST thing in the morning. Keep bragging, sending those letters and blogging our message.

Also, listen in to Riverdaughter’s nascent radio show on No We Won’t Radio tonight, from 9-10:30pm eastern. Here’s the LINK — DO call in!

DENVER

As I mentioned in the UPDATE in the previous thread, we have a $20,000 budget for Puma PAC activities in Denver. We will be hosting a media and delegate outreach center downtown, with live-blogging and radio broadcasts from several of the Puma Movement bloggers, writers, and radio directors. We will also be hosting delegate and media outreach events from this Puma Den — offering a warm welcome to all of those brave 300+ who stood up to the Party Big Shots and defended democracy at great political and professional risk to themselves. They will be feeling QUITE alone and vulnerable in Denver, and we want to thank them and remind them that, though we may be outnumbered in Denver, we represent a VAST pack of Pumas who support and will defend them.

Another major aspect to our Denver presence is our Puma PAC Headquarters, one block from the Pepsi Center. This is where every last Puma will come to get their t-shirts, signs, water bottles, snacks, flyers, and instructions. We will be operating 8am to midnight every day of the Convention and will be a beacon to ALL Pumas. We will be live-blogging and web-camming Everything, so don’t fret if you cannot get to Denver. However — if you CAN get to Denver, get your ass there! We’ll be there, we’ll be safe, and we’ll make history! Check out www.airbedandbreakfast.com for Denver accommodations — these are private rentals in Denver from $45 to $15,000 a night — there is space available at EVERY budget level.

Very exciting news — We have joined with an amazing Puma group from Indiana and have secured permits for an all-day Beautiful Protest and Rise in one of Denver’s loveliest parks, just 1.5 miles from the Convention Center. This event is separate from the 18millionvoices activities and is completely PUMA! And finally, we are matching Puma Angels with Pumas in need for traveling to Denver. Since we were unable to raise enough funds for a sufficient number of buses to Denver, we will be using the Bus Fund to help individual Puma members get there. If you (or someone you know) are a few hundred( or more) dollars short but are planning to attend PLEASE email gotodenver@pumapac.org right away and let us know what your needs are. In addition to our existing fund we have many generous offers of sponsorship from Pumas and we will match needs with resources.

So, it’s happening Folks. There is no turning back now. I have no idea how this will all turn out or what awaits us in the next 3 weeks, but I do know this: we will be there; we will be strong; we will be united; and WE WILL MAKE HISTORY.

Help us if you can HERE. and THANK YOU.

Please visit our MAIN PAGE to join Puma PAC and to get everything you need for Puma PAC action at our ACTION CENTER.

be wonderful to each other.

#14 Lorelai on 08.12.08 at 9:58 pm

1100 – dances with pumas – she didn’t solicit me…. I mentioned I had been invited by another person and she indicated she was part of that group – in no way did she solicit my attendance and was quite sympathetic to my position. I phrased that wrong, sorry.

#15 lotts1948 on 08.12.08 at 9:58 pm

I sent my thank you card to Ms. Ferraro.. enjoyed that one as I told her (truthfully) that I have been following her career for a long time as I have always admired the way she has stood up for the ideals that the Democratic Party used to stand for and how much I admired her as a strong woman and a true servant of the people.

I also faxed Govenor Rendell’s office and sent out more letters to Texas SDs and other delegates.

I also sent all this information per link to my friends and other people I blog with on book group sites and asked them to forward it to their friends and so on …

I believe in sharing the news… round and round and round.

TO DENVER AND BEYOND… PUMA!!!!

Peace and Love

Dear Pumas,

David Plouffe sent me a kind invitation to be among the people who are “the first to know” when Obama announces his VP. He wants to send me a special email alert. Here is my reply …

********

Dear David,

How nice of you to notify me by email when Obama announces his VP. But rest assured, it will make no difference. There’s no way I want Obama in the White House, no matter who his running mate is.

By the way, my Puma family will post the information as soon as its available. I’d rather hear it from them.

#20 Lorelai on 08.12.08 at 10:03 pm

DWP-it occurs to me that I sound alot more messed up on this blog than I really am! I’ve been working on myself for so long that surely I must be perfect by now!
It’s just that sometimes you need a booster shot, and that is where I am in my life right now.
This election has been a trigger for me in reminding me of all the things that I can’t control, and the things that I can change and the wisdom to know the difference.
“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”.
Pumas have empowered me have the wisdom to know the difference as we take action every day.

Boy, do I agree with Millie on radio right now! That’s exactly how I feel! And I, too, never have been so involved in politial campaigns before. I am powerless over this election and my life has become unmanageable. First step is acceptance.
More scared of Obama than Bush!

Just curious….

I get on here every now in hopes to get some good news for Hillary.

I know that PUMA is a good thing and a good group. : )

I am just curious as to what exactly it is that PUMA is trying to accomplish come the convention?

Is there still a chance for Hillary to be the nominee? Is it really over for her? How is Obama doing against McCain?

Since Hillary has SUSPENDED her nomination I have really not watched any news so I don’t really know what is going on….I just keep hoping one day soon I will hear that Hillary IS the democratic nominee….

Lorelai: I love that particular mantra. It is something that I have worked on very hard for a very long time now. I have it engraved on a plaque and in front of my work station where I can see it each and every night.

Courage to change the things I can… that’s what we’re all doing.. having courage to try to change the things we can. You have inspired me many a time, so I hope you find comfort in that and in what we are all working so hard to accomplish… I know I do:)

Peace.

#29 NYCgirl on 08.12.08 at 10:17 pm

Hi, Murphy,

Regarding that tired email from that dreary Obot that you posted downstairs (are these Obamatons ever original?) — I say to that:

“Oblahblah, Oblahblah, Oblahblah!!”
“Yes we gag! Yes we gag! Yes we gag!”

And since the Clintons are “soooo yesterday”, I guess Junior really doesn’t need them campaigning for him. This man of the future can get along just fine without them. Good. Let them rest up so they can campaign even harder when Hill runs again in 2012.

And if Junior does lose the GE, I hope these mindless Bots remember to give us PUMAs the credit!

To paraphrase Michael Musto:
Oblahblah is a legend in his own behind!

#26 rlp33,

Hello,

I don’t know if I am the most informed Puma but since nobody else is answering I will try to.

Yes, Hillary still has a chance but how much is anybody’s guess. The DNC is pressuring her to concede and turn over her delegates. They are also pressuring the delegates to not vote for her. We do not know what Hillary is going to do but we have definately gotten everyone’s attention. Obama is dropping in the polls against McCain so his popularity is wearing thin. We will fight until the end and if Hillary is not the nominee then we will put all of our efforts in stopping Obama in the general election. Hope that answers at least some of your questions.

CHRISTINA, THE ANTI-PUMA IS ON RIVERDAUGHTER’S SHOW …

#37 freddiebrown on 08.12.08 at 10:24 pm

Lorelai :
Worry looks around
Sorry looks behind
Faith looks up.

Lets look up –
It is easy to get discouraged – I did too. Lets try our best and do our share and then some. Whatever the outcome, we should be proud now and in furture that we didn’t just sit around and complain like a lot of people do.

Dust off and jump in.

I was getting my hair cut by this gay guy. He is voting Obama because of the change thing. I told him we are not.
But I didn’t want to get too heated up arguing lest he chopped off my hair or head whichever.. So I hang my head in shame for not telling him more.

Thanks for the words of insight and wisdom and support.
I will dust myself off, pick myself up, and continue on….
Thanks for the reminder..
p.s. Anna7000 is a great role model for confronting those that are bullies or racist or whatnot and not letting people get away with unacceptable statements. I’ve learned alot from her courage.

#43 lotts1948 on 08.12.08 at 10:30 pm

You know, the reason Christina is scary to me is that she is a pre-school or kindergarten teacher; and yes, she is the one who has the Anti-Puma site… I am guilty of going on there sometime just to read what stupidity she has up; she scares me because she can’t spell and writes as eloquently as she talks.. which is not a good example for our school children. She drank deeply of the kool-aid obviously.

“We’ve STILL got her back (we ALWAYS have)”:

Average Americans, the backbone of this country. When America is doing well, we are the ones who get the most joy. When America is doing poorly, we’re the ones who take the financial heat and the sometimes overwhelming burden that comes with having to work even harder to support a country which is no longer the strong nation it once was.

For 8 years no one has had our back, no one has supported us, no one stood by our side as the tables yet again turned away from our favor. And yet, while we may not be getting any support, we are all standing together as we support what appears to be the last of the true Democratic politicians, the Clintons.

We’ve been fending for ourselves these past 8 years, sometimes struggling to make ends meet. We’ve let so many things go in the world of politics…but something happened. An event occurred that united WE the people and forged a bond stronger than the loyalty one feels for their party of CHOICE…we found ourselves once again supporting a Clinton, another Clinton running for President.

We went along for the ride as Sen. Clinton won primary after primary. We were shocked and appalled when she was viciously attacked by MSM and those damn BOZO followers. We were handed our “fair” share of insults and threats, and yet we never faltered. Like our candidate, we kept fighting. Now the DNC, BOZO, and every other traitor we’ve encountered along the way (with a few new ones thrown in) is trying to silence Sen. Clinton. The problem is, the more they try to keep her quiet, the more determined we are to fight back.

I can’t even begin to understand the kind of pressure Sen. Clinton must be under. I endure my “fair” share of stress on a daily basis (just like everyone else) but I can’t imagine what she’s going through…all those people she considered her friends, turning on her. The false accusations of racism (a more unfair accusation has yet to be documented.)

She is one of the most intelligent people I have ever heard. There is no doubt in my mind she has at least a marginal understanding when it comes to just how many of her supporters aren’t willing to support the counterfeit candidate. I’m sure she knows that in our books, LOYALTY has no price tag. Many of us supported her when Bill was President, we stuck with her when she became a Senator, we shared the joy and the honest hope of true change when she announced she was running for President. We stuck with her through everything, and we’re not leaving her side now.

During the primaries, the vultures were constantly circling, waiting. We were always surrounded, but we stood by her. Are there any doubts about where our LOYALTY lies? Does she have any apprehensions about fighting for the nomination because she wonders how many of her supporters will stand with her until the end? Is there any stone we aren’t willing to turn over for her? We’d move boulders for her, we’re already moving mountains.

When Clinton “allies” came out for BOZO, they weren’t just stabbing the Clintons in the back, they were taunting the animal that is PUMA: the animalistic mindset of any voter willing to put country before party. Our list of allies turned back stabbing enemies has grown, this is to be our point of reference when re elections approach, let the purging begin. A PUMA will not sit timidly in the corner while one of its own is surrounded and threatened. While they won’t say it, the Clintons have shown tell tale signs of being PUMA-like…and where the Clintons are concerned, one false move and the claws come out. I don’t mean the previous statement to be sexist: PUMAS have claws and we’re not afraid to use them. The DNC knows this and they’re scared sh**less that at the convention, the one I fondly refer to as “Madame President” may just let the cat out of the bag and fight. And the PUMAS will be with her every step of the way.

So if there were any doubt, allow me to squash the rumors, we’re STILL mad as hell. We’re STILL not done fighting. You should never stop fighting when the reason you’re engrossed in battle is the RIGHT thing to fight for.

Average America has always had Hillary’s back and we’re not going down without a fight. We’re ALWAYS going to have her back.

My PUMA PROMISE: not another knife will touch that back as long as I’m around.

It was a first for me too, Asian. Like, it was all over the msm and print media schedules, etc.. that she was to do the keynote and that both sides agreed–even with Chelsea introducing her. Also, I am still laughing at the thought of Kerry as VP. I hope it is true.

That is great news texassherry! My niece sent me an email today–and even though she did not come out and say that she no longer backed Barack, I know her language too well. She is having buyer’s remorse big time. Now I have to convince her to vote against Barack. She will be one to stay at home. I will just have to monitor what is going on with her. It begs questioning. And Thanks for the info. A bit ticked about all of this right now!

Moving on

Still, “I don’t think there’s any harm in nominating Sen. Clinton at the convention,” said David Serrano Sewell of San Francisco, one of the delegates at the forefront of the signature-gathering movement. “It will acknowledge the success we had, and it will give an opportunity for people to express themselves and get behind Obama and win in November.”

Already, he said, Clinton delegates have more than half of the 300 signatures needed to put Clinton’s name into nomination – and they fully expect to get more than enough by the time the convention begins in Denver.

“It’s a simple thing to do, and it’s the biggest sign of party unity,” said Laura Spanjian, a San Francisco Clinton delegate who also supports the move. “If we do that one thing, the Hillary people can get past it – and move on.”

Clay Dougherty, another San Francisco delegate for Clinton, said that “if the situation were reversed, the Obama people would feel the same.”

“For the first time in a generation, it’s been a close election … and this was such a unique situation,” he said, in which the first major African American presidential candidate competed with the first major female presidential candidate. “We need to honor both candidates,” he said.

And many Democrats suggest that the move to accommodate Clinton’s supporters may be politically smart.

“Sen. Clinton is going to do everything she can to make sure Sen. Obama is the next president – and that will include how the convention is handled and the role she plays,” says Democratic strategist Chris Lehane, who was a Clinton supporter and a past White House spokesman for Bill Clinton.

But “polls out there show that older women are the potential swing demographic in this election,” he said. “It helps Obama and the party … to have her play a prominent role in the convention.”

Under the rules of the Democratic National Committee, 300 valid delegate signatures are needed in order to place a candidate’s name on the ballot – if the candidate agrees to it.

Bob Mulholland, an undecided California superdelegate, said that means “if a candidate’s got delegates, then both names can be placed in nomination” – and the losing candidate, in this case Clinton, can declare, ” ‘Let’s make it unanimous.’ ”

Or Clinton can be nominated and a surrogate speaking on her behalf can say, “The senator has declined, but let’s vote on Obama,” he noted.

A third option is that she won’t allow her name to be nominated at all, he said.

DELEGATE HARASSMENT, HOW TO STOP

I posted this on the Confluence. It should be self-explanatory. (Anna7000, hope this answers your question about delegate obligations to cast votes for ‘their’ candidate at the convention.)

*******************************************
You disconnected me from the air tonight but when I said I knew how to end the delegate harassment, I really meant it.

1. For delegates in those states with a statutory requirement that delegates awarded as the result of state primary elections must vote at the convention – at least on the first ballot – for the candidate in whose name they were elected at that primary contest (one of your callers tonight mentioned one of these states):

Walk into the state court of jurisdiction and get an immediate injunction to prevent the state Democratic Party from enticing you to violate state election laws.

2. For delegates in those states without the statutory requirement in 1) above.

Individual states only allow candidates for POTUS who are proposed by the major parties, Republican and Democratic, to get onto the ballot for the general election at a date and time subsequent to the parties’ conventions, while other candidates have earlier submission deadlines, because according to the rules of these two parties, candidates for POTS must be determined at their nominating conventions. But, by coercing delegates to make their decision to support a particular candidate – BO – before the convention, the state Democratic Party is in effect violating the spirit if not the letter of state election law.

Contact the delegate from CO – I understand she has hired an attorney – and propose she could go right into the state court of appropriate jurisdiction to get an immediate order enjoining the head of the state party from pressuring her (or any other delegate) regarding which candidate to support, on the grounds such coercion seeks to make her a party to a violation of election laws in CO, under either scenario 1 or 2.
*************************************************************
I predict taking these actions will have an immediate “chilling effect” on further harassment by representatives of the Democratic Party.

You are right. That is the battle that each of us individually can do—educate and inform–beyond the 2 words of Hope and Change. They are becoming “frick and frack” to me. lol As far as my sister is concerned–she was leaning Barack and respected my commitment to Hillary. However, last week when I was visiting them on vacation, my brother in law confided in me and said “I guess you know where I stand in all of this–meaning McCain supporter–and your sister is 98 percent going in the same direction now.” The Invesco Stadium bit and MO did it for her he said. These are the numbers we need to stay focused on. Like I have said in the past—the silent majority and those that have never been called on a poll are going to show up in November and VOTE Against–maybe not for–but definitely against.

I have received some questions from my friends on where I get my information from to know that Sen. Obama is no good. A source? Ha ha….The guy alone is my source. His inconsistencies, arrogance, and inexperience are enough for me to know he is not made for POTUS.

That said, I think we, PUMAs, are all on board with why Obama should not become president. In fact, we probably know more than other people who are fine with the MSM’s gracious coverage of Obama’s campaign. However, when trying to convince our friends, coworkers, and maybe even family members on why Obama is no good, a book that has exhaustively documented Obama’s inadequacies is nice to recommend to these people. The point of this update is to inform all of you on a new book that was brought to my attention. The book has been recently published and documents what makes Obama wrong for the Oval Office. It is composed by a couple of guys from the younger generation, which is pretty interesting considering a lot of the Obambi hype seems to reside with the younger generation. I think I have said enough; here is the site for the book: http://whoistherealbarackobama.com

Very nicely written. I have many times pondered the role of “loyalty” in the primary race. I was horrified by the number of “Judases” who thought nothing of stabbing Hillary in the back. I would say to myself in horror: “But what about *loyalty*? I even formally suggested here that “loyalty” should be among the official PUMA talking points.

I remember after Richardson’s high-profile defection, I was watching Lou Dobbs who said in disbelief about Hillary: “This is the *most betrayed candidate ever*!!” I said out loud to the TV: “You got that right, Lou!” It was unbelievable!

And what message does that send to our young people? No matter what someone has done for you in the past, it is perfectly acceptable to throw them under the bus and back-stab them if it suits you at the moment? *That* is the so-called “future” that Oblahblah and his cult followers are now designing.

They say the true definition of “magic” is “taking heaven by storm”. It’s time for PUMAs to work our strongest magic, for Hillary’s sake, and for the *real* future of this country.

Houston went big for Barack in March, even though all the outlying counties went BIG for Hillary. That support is drying up and now I would say it has been cut in half. I live West of Houston, and I know both personally (friends, etc) and in my work that there is NO WAY that Barack will get these votes—and they are NOT staying at home. This is like a mission. In fact, there is NO middle. As Col Bowie did at the Alamo when he drew the line in the sand—it began with a few and now I see voters knocking each other down to get back over on the right side. Also! I noticed a McCain Office open. I seemed to me early, but so be it.

Murphy and/or anyone w/experience taking action of the sort that will happen in Denver:

Do you think it would be a good idea to develop a list of recommended stuff to bring?

Related to that, do you think it would be a good idea to develop some sort of general agreed upon talking points for folks to have on hand and familiarize themselves with? It can be really helpful to rehearse this kind of info in one’s mind beforehand as, in the heat of the moment, it’s not hard to cross the line and become what may well appear on national tv like a raving lunatic.)

All three hospitals have no records of *61 on his alleged birthdate or any time around that. The state records can’t be found. The entire books are missing and no one at the records have any idea where they are. Bo left Friday for Hawaii and today all records are vanished and I believe Ed said his source said the records for the year are gone. The request for investigation verifying whether he meets the requirements were made on Friday, the day he left. Hopefully, it was the investigating committee that got the records and not nobo’s group.

There is strong belief he either was born in Canada or in Indonesia and the birth was recorded in Canada. Where is Trish when you need her? Anyway, Momma E. is calling Canada in the morning to see what their birth certificates look like and if maybe *61 was born there.

Hope this helps.

This song came up for me earlier… it became an anthem of sorts in the Bay Area, a while ago. Since the blog isn’t busy, I’m going to share it.
I think you can listen to the mp3 online.
It’s by a Canadian singer-songwriter named: Ferron.

There’s godlike
And warlike
And strong
Like only some show
And there’s sad like
And madlike
And had
Like we know
But by my life be I spirit
And by my heart be I woman
And by my eyes be I open
And by my hands be I whole

They say slowly
Brings the least shock
But no matter how slow I walk
There are traces
Empty spaces
And doors and doors of locks
But by my life be I spirit
And by my heart be I woman
And by my eyes be I open
And by my hands be I whole

You young ones
You’re the next ones
And I hope you choose it well
Though you try hard
You may fall prey
To the jaded jewel
But by your lives be you spirit
And by your hearts be you women
And by your eyes be you open
And by your hands be you whole

Listen, there are waters
Hidden from us
In the maze we find them still
We’ll take you to them
You take your young ones
May they take their own in turn
But by your lives be you spirit
And by your hearts be you women
And by your eyes be you open
And by your hands be you whole

I agree, those going to Denver should have rehearsed responses so that they don’t draw a total blank or completely lose control when some raving lunatic bot or stupid reporter renders them speechless.

Oooooh, I sooo wish I could be there!

#141 Anna7000- re talking points in Denver.
I think an “elevator speech” is a great idea. Something you can get across to someone in an elevator ride. Maybe having cards printed with the top ten reasons BO is not presidential material. consistent messaging without lunacy or”middle aged bitterness” is impt.!

TOPIC: Media training

Anna & Lisa: I emailed Murphy early early this a.m.
I’ve done formal media training for years, so I offered my assistance if need be. I suggested a one-hour conf call.

Not sure she’s read her email yet today…or all of it, at any rate!

Really I don’t know how she does it.

#157 ny puma,

Yeah, that is what that lady told me. She said that when she was around her friends that she wouldn’t talk to them about it, but she said come November that she would not vote for him. I am hoping there are a lot like her. The Caucuses forced people to show their vote to everyone but in November nobody will ever know who anyone votes for.

#170 Jeremy on 08.12.08 at 11:31 pm

#155 LaureyPuma-

Those are numbers that I like to hear and read. I am not counting friends or family with this number—at my work, you can count on at least 40 NAY votes—and I can say that close to one half of those were and are Hillary supporters–the others were always JM. Also–that is at just one site. We have 3 offices. I would say that number would be the same. It will be very interesting to see what happens in Denver. The news changes constantly and revelations pop up by the minute—but I am starting to focus more on November. I am in transition. Good to see you here.

TOPIC: DENVER

PLEEEASE read if you’re going to Denver!!!

Does anyone else agree we need to mix as PUMAS, but ALSO, we need to be a part of the bigger picture of Hillary supporters there?

I am really really hoping that on Tuesday – the historic women’s vote day & day Hillary’s speaking (night) – that all of the different groups are going to participate in the Parade that day.

There’s a parade on that day, right??

I keep envisioning all of the many different groups together, walking en-masse, and how powerful a sight that would be for America to realize the support for Hillary and for Hillary in nomination…

I know I am inexperienced and possibly naive, but is there some way we can all draw together – all the pro-Hillary blogs- and send one huge message to Hillary that we know they are pressuring her to realease her delegates. We are here, we will be here, we have her back. Her strength is our strength.
What they are doing to Hillary makes me sick and I just want some way to let her know there are millions of us who are backing her.

Did you or anyone else hear about Hillary getting the keynote address taken away from her by His Majesty? Do we know when she is talking now? It will be quite the ironic moment to have her speak on the anniversary of women receiving the vote, and then have our votes silenced…. can’t happen.

Texassherry–

That is how I am seeing this contest–if you will–starting to play out. During the primaries, around my area, people were more vocal and visual regarding their candidate. Now it is whispered, in coded, and body language–unless you are in a group that are on the same page. The caucus system stunk–duh– and I know that the actions of his Representatives there, did him more harm than good.

Beautiful story here.
Ferron’s Testimony album was distributed in the SFO Bay Area in March or so and quietly spread like wildfire.

In June, the Pride March was held in SFO. Ferron was the main performer for the closing of Pride. This was her first performance in the US and didn’t know how she would be received. The last song of her set was the title song, Testimony.

Imagine her surprise when 250,000 voices rose up and sang the entire song with her? It was exquisite.

TOPIC: Parade info

Here’s the info on the Parade, I’m glad I wasn’t dreaming it, haha.

“Hillary Clinton supporters will march through Denver during the Democratic National Convention to show appreciation for the New York senator’s historic primary run and urge the party to place her name in nomination.

The city issued a permit Tuesday to Colorado Women Count/Women Vote for a parade on Aug. 26 – the 88th anniversary of women’s suffrage and the date Clinton is rumored to be speaking at the DNC.

The group also will team with 18 Million Voices, a national organization of Clinton supporters, for a rally in a yet-to-be-determined Denver park.

“We just want to celebrate Hillary’s accomplishments and what she’s done for the country as a whole and women in particular,” said Katherine Vincent, 55, of Louisville, who is organizing the parade and rally.

Vincent is among those passionate followers who believe Clinton’s delegates have a right to vote for her at the convention.”

I have a hunch there will be _so_ many people and different groups marching, it is going to blow people away…

Maybe one of our first tasks on Monday s/be to get our PUMA signs made etc. for the next day…

Read about Obama’s volunteers – $ for registering.
****
Register to Vote and Get Paid? posted 2:58 pm Tue August 12, 2008 –

A casual encounter sparked a controversy over the methods of the Democratic National Committee. Several women say they saw volunteers offering to pay people to register to vote.

They are on street corners and outside Metro stations — usually in blue DNC t-shirts. Armies of volunteers are doing all they can to get Barack Obama (web|news|bio) elected, but are some going too far?

“They encourage people but what their main goal is is to fund raise for the DNC.”

The volunteers say they are just raising money. But Paula Abeles, a lifelong democrat, says some of the volunteers have other objectives.

“We heard it very distinctly. I mean, we were standing right next to them so it’s just I thought it was outrageous,” said Abeles.

Abeles and several friends heard a supervisor instructing volunteers. She says she heard them go through a drill before hitting the streets. It dealt not with raising money but shelling out cash to get people registered to vote.

“She said I’m not really interested in maybe some other time and he said would $10 make a difference?” said Abeles.

Abeles accuses the volunteers of breaking the law

Two quick things and I am ready to crawl in bed.

I just want to say great job to everyone. You all have a role here and have done such a fabulous job in just two short months. Murphy, Maryland, Mama and those who work behind the scenes that I still haven’t figured out who does what. Congratulations, you have moved beyond boundaries that would have stopped most people from moving forward. Pumas roar loud!!

Secondly, some of you may remember the deleate that was on with Murphy or Shari awhile back and he said no matter what, Senator Clinton will not give up her delegates because she needs to hold onto them for bargaining power. If not for a position, then for certain healthcare and other policies she wants to make sure are adopted.

Believe in the Clinton’s and believe in the process. The Clinton’s learned more than you can imagine during the primaries and I am sure are ready to take on anyting that can happen at the convention. They are smarter than most people and try to give them your unwavering trust. A smart negotiator or opponent NEVER lays everything out on the table and ALWAYS keep them guessing.

Believe! Believe! Believe!

Peace to all tonight.

Oh by the way PUMAs! =3 Hillary was in Las Vegas while we were there apparently. Unfortunately we weren’t able to see her but it would have been awesome to (We were in a small RV which was hard enough to drive into the Hilton as it was).

Also, while we were in Vegas we saw the ad McCain was running (The Britney Spears/Paris Hilton one). I found it to be very well done. It compares BHO to a rock star. Found it very well done.

Something bothered me though. We also kept seeing an ad about talking to your children about drugs (And before I say what I’m going to say please know that I am incredibly against drug use and am not condoning it in any way, shape, or form) and I couldn’t help but think “You know what? The Democrats want to elect a former drug dealer into the office of POTUS. What right do parents have to speak against drugs to their children when these people want to elect a drug dealer to the White House? Doesn’t that make this commercial hypocritical? (Did I spell that right?) Why should children think doing drugs or selling them is a bad thing when a former drug dealer can be elected as our President? Clearly there aren’t any consequences…” (Hopefully I won’t offend anyone by sharing that thought…)

As a fellow supporter of Hillary Clinton, I just wanted to express my sincere appreciation to you for speaking out publicly about sexism in today’s society.

As a member of PUMApac and a former precinct worker, I have been speaking out about Hillary to everyone who will listen. And I know all too well how lonely it can feel to speak out when you’re the only one. I’ve been there, time and time again.

How well I remember when you ran for Vice President on the ticket with Mondale. You stood as a beacon of hope for women everywhere, and continue to do so today.

Leave it to the DNC to screw things up

#247 jbjd on 08.13.08 at 12:15 am

THOUGHT VERSUS ACTION

Anna 7000, I just cannot carry out all of these ideas. For example, after I came up with the idea that people who question BO’s eligibility to be POTUS could try to block his election by challenging his application to get on the ballot for the general election in the individual states; several sites that adopted my idea read their state laws incorrectly and mistakenly assumed the filing deadlines in their states had already passed. I only picked up on this because someone on another blog said the deadline in TX was August 22 and this made no sense to me, given that the Democratic convention doesn’t begin until August 25 (to say nothing about the Republican candidate, given that their convention starts on September 1). So, I looked up election laws in TX. This took a long time; I finally came up with the information I posted here. And I also posted this information on several other sites, as my idea by then had spread like wildfire, and answered additional questions. This took several hours more.

So, while I am really good at thinking good thoughts, I just cannot carry all of them out. I would rather focus my energies on posting on this blog and trust people here who visit other sites to pass on my information.

I have been really busy lately, traveling, getting ready for school, etc, but I need to post this.

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE DNC’S THREATS IS TO WRITE ABOUT THEM!!!!! The best way to do this is to contact Lou Dobbs, Fox News, Limbaugh, all those other people. Also submit articles to your local paper, they always like to hear from people. This is the only way that we are going to get a response.

BTW, Murphy I have a new e-mail address I need to give to you.

From wickipedia – the lowdown on Stardust:

“Stardust” is one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, with over 1,800 recordings, perhaps the last popular version by Willie Nelson in 1978.

In 1956, a nationwide Billboard survey of disc jockeys showed that their number one favorite of all time was the Artie Shaw (1941) recording of Stardust.

In 1999, Stardust was included in the “NPR 100″,[3] in which National Public Radio sought to list the one hundred most important American musical works of the 20th century. In New Year 2000 the Swedish music reviewers voted it as “the tune of the century”, with Kurt Weill’s “Mack the Knife” as second.

In 2004, Carmichael’s original 1927 recording of the song was one of 50 recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry.

~ ~ ~

One more fact, though, I believe Billboard magazine had Willie Nelson’s Stardust recording on their Top 100 for like, 5 years straight or something. I am not kidding…

Thank you for posting the article about San Francisco delegates standing up for Hillary and the right to put her name in nomination. I decided to give them some Puma love.

Unfortunately, I could only find email address for two of the three. Hopefully, they’re current:

David Serrano Sewell … dss85@hotmail.com
Laura Spanjian … lspanjian@yahoo.com

Below is the email I wrote. Then after that is the letter to Hillary that I enclosed with my emails.

*************************

I’ve read of your recent support for placing Senator Clinton’s name in nomination at the Denver convention. Your efforts are very much appreciated by millions of us who want Hillary as our next President and will never vote for Senator Obama under any circumstances.

I’m enclosing a copy of the letter I wrote to Hillary today so that you’ll understand why my friends and I will vote for John McCain if Hillary is not the Democratic nominee. I hope you will convey our feelings to other delegates who have yet to be convinced that Senator Obama is not fit to be our President.

Thank you for your consideration.

**************************

Dear Hillary,

I’m writing to ask that you allow your name to be placed in nomination at the Denver convention. And if you receive the most votes, I ask that you accept the nomination for President.

You’ve been a dutiful Democrat, publicly supporting the presumptive nominee. However, no matter what you say or do, you will not convince me or my friends to vote for Barack Obama. If you are not our nominee, we will vote for John McCain in November.

My friends and I gave Obama fair consideration in the beginning. There was a time we favored a Clinton-Obama ticket. There was a time we might have voted for Obama if you asked us to. All of that is gone. The more we see Obama and listen to Obama, the more we dislike and distrust him. Most of my friends and I describe him as “scary.”

We don’t want Obama anywhere near the White House, where he will undoubtedly bring ruin to the United States. We don’t want him anywhere near you either, where he would undoubtedly ruin your political career. Even if you were nominated on the condition that you take Obama as your Vice President, I wouldn’t be comfortable. You don’t need to be tarnished by Obama’s considerable baggage. And I would fear for your safety daily, knowing how desperate Obama is to become President no matter what it takes.

There are many reasons why I won’t vote for Obama … and why I will instead vote for John McCain in November if Obama is the nominee. For the sake of brevity, I’ll cite only my top four … the real deal-breakers, the ones that no one, not even you, can argue against.

First came the Reverend Wright story. It’s human nature to embrace the attitudes of others around us when we want to fit in, to belong, and to be liked. Thus there’s every reason to believe that Obama embraces the hateful teachings of Revered Wright, despite his insistence to the contrary.

I find Obama to be dismissive of everyone and everything that doesn’t serve his immediate interests. I first noticed this when he refused to do additional debates with you, even though voters in upcoming primaries wanted to hear more debates. But now I see it in all of his actions. It was the same trait I saw in George Bush in 2000. It’s that very same dismissive tendency that led us into this horrible Iraq war. Obama would be just as dangerous to America and the world as George Bush is.

Throughout the primary season, Obama kept saying, “I welcome that debate with John McCain.” Yet he has repeatedly refused to do the ten town hall debates that John McCain proposed and that many voters would like to see. This, more than anything, reveals to me Obama’s character. It tells me he’s not a man of his word, that he cannot and will not reach across the aisle to work with Republicans, and that he doesn’t believe in transparency in government. It tells me that he fears John McCain will expose the lack of substance behind his rhetoric. And it tells me that he’s afraid to speak without a teleprompter and the scripted words of the DNC puppet masters.

Finally, I think Obama as President would spell economic disaster for the United States. I began fearing his economic policies when I saw how he would often outspend you by two-, three-, or four-to-one, but you consistently got more votes per dollar spent. Much fuss has been made about your campaign debt, but you know how to “do more with less.” John McCain, too, knows how to do more with less. He was nearly counted out last summer, yet he came back to win his party’s nomination on a shoestring budget.

Meanwhile, I see Obama spending obscene amounts of money on things that do little more than feed his ego (e.g., repainting his airplane and creating a phony presidential seal he had to abandon because of so much negative publicity). Obama spends money recklessly, as do many people who suddenly come into unearned wealth. I fear that he would be extremely wasteful with taxpayer money, and that America and Americans alike would be plunged into far greater debt than we have ever seen if Obama were President.

Again, I pray that you will be our nominee after the Denver convention. I sincerely believe it’s the only chance of getting a Democrat in the White House this time.

Thank you for your consideration.

#260 jbjd on 08.13.08 at 12:22 am

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

The term “keynote” speaker in relation to party conventions is a “term of art,” that is, it has a particular meaning within the context of a specific subject area. The DNC had never referred to HRC as the keynote speaker at the convention. Rather, she was always one of four speakers they identified to speak at the convention: MO; BC; HRC; and the VP. They hadn’t announced yet who would be their keynote speaker. What they did today was to clarify her position because so many people misunderstood her status. And they were so clumsy with their explanation that people now mistakenly assumed, they had demoted her position.

“Clearly there aren’t any consequences…”

Inu–it depends who the candidate/person is. Geraldine Ferraro was the first woman to be asked for VP. Her son was vetted out by the media regarding his drug use or associations. My older brother was telling me about this when all the flap was going on about her speaking truthfully about Barack’s “advantages.” He said that she was getting so much heat regarding it, along with some other things. This was a situation were it was a inner circle family member, not the candidate themselves—however, he said she was treated by the press, etc. as if she was the user. If it had been her or in her past–she would have been gone. I understand what you are saying. There is no wrong this person can do—and if he does—he has an instant stamp of forgiveness. Frustrating–yes.

“When Hillary was young, she wanted to be an astronaut, to soar as high as the stars above. She kept reaching up and up as she grew. There were people who told her no. But she didn’t listen to them. There were people who didn’t think she could do it. But she believed in herself. And Hillary has been making history ever since. Someone upthread said: leave it to the DNC to screw it up.

You are so right. When so many people were up to their gills with Bush Inc.’s 8 year travesty… Republicans and Democrats so willing and ready to hand over the keys to the White House to almost anyone who isn’t a Republican… the DNC comes up with these pieces of work.

They thought they had a sure thing… voters were ready, and they told us their selectee wasn’t carrying any baggage. Of course, we know now, that he didn’t even have a carry-on … no accomplishments… no resume… no political positions… no nothing. Just an invisible man in an empty suit.

And they’re still trying to force a square peg into a round hole.

Leave it to the DNC to screw up what would have been a sure thing.

Michelle Obama will be introduced by her brother, Craig Robinson, a former basketball star at Princeton and now coach at Oregon State, on the first night on Aug. 25. Barack Obama’s half sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, also will have a role at the convention.

It is insane. There was a recruiter for the Marines on Sean Hannity’s afternoon talk show last week. He told Sean that if Barack tried to join the Marines with the record that he has submitted ( public records ) that he would not be qualified—YET—he is running for and saying that he is the most qualified to be “Commander in Chief.” Incredible. If he tried to get a position with the company I work for, it would be tagged immediately by Human Resources for “further review.” Furthermore, if he made any “misstatement” in the application process via “cover up” (because those questions regarding abuse/use) are asked–he would be terminated upon proof and his name would be listed as providing false information in order to secure employment. This is who some want as President? I don’t get it at all.

I also will not be watching the convention. But I will watch Hillary’s speech. She should be honoring the anniversary of women’s right to vote and not making us puke with some worship to BO. The DNC is too stupid to realize that they are going to have to work to get our votes back after the BO landslide loss and so they need to start laying the ground work for that ASAP by giving us something we can relate to.

What cracks me up is I have been contacted repeatedly to give money, first to BO, then the DNC and then Senate reelection committee. I tell them all no. I am not donating to any Dem cause this year due to their gutless response to the profound sexism that was used against Hillary and their constant yapping about imaginary racism.

Yes Obama sent out an email about getting the VP via text message. I believe it’s a gimmick to get people’s cell phone numbers.

You must not be special enough to be on his email list. ;)

I got my invitation to be “the first to know” via email. I sent David Plouffe the following response …

*******************

Dear David,

How nice of you to notify me by email when Obama announces his VP. But rest assured, it will make no difference. There’s no way I want Obama in the White House, no matter who his running mate is.

By the way, my Puma family will post the information as soon as its available. I’d rather hear it from them.

you’re right about your age group. I keep trying to tell my mom that. She says the young people will elect him but I told her, they will be back in school and they are not a reliable voting block (in general of course). I know some are, I was, but as a whole they are not.

Don’t even get me started on divided by 0 or imaginary numbers. There is such a thing as imaginary numbers in math but I worked with a company that wanted me to count numbers that did not exist. Since there is a real thing as imaginary numbers in math I made up my own name for it and called them my ghost numbers (to myself)

Yes, they will be back in school. They won’t know where to go vote. They’ll forget where to vote. They won’t have ID to vote. They won’t care because there will be a kegger and a big game that weekend or whatever. They’ll have a test or exam, it will be midterms.

I saw it advertised on one of his campaign ads. It said–”Visit of website and join our team and be one of the first to know who will be selected as VP by text or email.” It required you to register at his site–basically adding you personal info and becoming a “bot.” It is a sale pitch and as you said–gimmick–to get email addresses, cell #, etc. He will do anything it takes.

Regarding youth vote. We take college students into our lab every quarter. Not one of them is gaga for BO. In fact they all have the feeling that there is something creepy going on. They have also made statements regarding the BO people at their schools and how they seem unbalanced.

BO does have a way with kids who are too young to vote. when he came to Seattle he held his worship session during school hours. My daughter said she heard there were only 5 kids in her classes that day. She blew off school to go to the speech with girlfriends, then they met up with some guys from another school for lunch and then they blew off the guys and went to see the hannah montana JONAS BROTHERS movie. I ask her what she thought of Bo and she said they felt he was as hot as the Jonas brothers! Obviously she will not be voting for anyone because she is way too young. If the “news” services were doing their job they would have pointed out that the high schools were empty, BOs event was full and 75% of the people there are too young to vote and will do anything to blow off school for the day.

A couple of insights…

Insight #1

If the DNC Powers-at-Be knew Hillary was on board with their plan, then they would not be attempting to coerce convention delegates. See it as a good sign.

I continue to believe Ed Rendell is a good guy…call me a fool…but I think he’s throwing seed right now….so is Howard Wolfson.

Insight #2

I have a handful of friends from the DNC money bundlers from another state other than my current home state. Without exception, they are covering their tushes…and waiting to see if this PUMA thing reaches critical mass. If it does, they are in…but right now many are in government positions and can not put their hearts on their sleeves without the possiblity of paying a big price.

One of them continues to feed me with information without taking a position.

Think critical mass. Miracles? Nothing to them.

All PUMAs…please read this article I found! Makes the decision that much easier!!!

Equal Pay for Women Promised by Obama Practiced by McCain

Criticism of Senator Obama’s Unrealistic “Promise of Equal Pay” has taken on a new irony in that CSN News Network has reported that McCain and Clinton pay their female staff better that Senator Obama.

To further the irony, Senator McCain actually pays the women on his staff better than the men, while Senator Clinton pays men and women the same. Both McCain and Clinton hired more female staffers than male staffers; not Obama he has more men on staff than women and they are paid less than the men.

According to the AP Senator Obama stated, “I’ll continue to stand up for equal pay as president — Senator McCain won’t, and that’s a real difference in this election.” There you have it; the difference in this campaign is rhetoric versus action.

Please remember that the memos leaked from the Clinton campaign contain suggestions from Marc Penn as to possible talking points he thought could slow down BO’s meteoric rise at the time, based on polling results. Not stupid at all…critical mass is a scientific term meaning the numbers that indicate an impeding majority.

Theoretically speaking, if you have cells in a test tube that duplicate themselves every 24 hours and on day 10 you have filled the test tube; on what day is the test tube half full?

Day 9.

Day 9 is critical mass. Make sense? The difference between Day 1 and Day 2 is very different than the difference between Day 9 and Day 10.

Puma’s need to get to Day 9.

I think critical mass means the perceivable numbers of voters that will support X instead of Y.

If the perception of the PUMA movement is that it represents “enough Americans” to stop Obama, then there will be a flood (Day 9 to Day 10) of delegates signing on.

My point is to say, we have laid the groundwork so that one day could bring a VERY different set of circumstance than the day before it. Two months ago…NO.

This is not to demean all delegates, I think many of them are making tough decisions they never signed up for…

#431 gostrumcat on 08.13.08 at 1:50 am

That’s what this is all about, helping get people where the action is. You had too much enthusiasm to be left behind, so I’m really glad it worked out for you and I send hugs to your angels too. #432 Firebelle Puma on 08.13.08 at 1:50 am

And I pray there are a whole lot of delegates who are merely maintaining the facade of supporting Obama to avoid giving away the intention to desert him en masse on the first vote.

#433 Kerri on 08.13.08 at 1:51 am

Rrrrgh! That’s all I have to say about the latest travesties perpetrated upon the American voter by the demorcratic leaders and officials today! The story of Rendell and the latest delegate, who at least, sought and found legal representation, are evidence that all our efforts at throwing a light on these practices and demanding a cessation to these strong-armed dictator-like tactics have not deterred this red-eyed monster that has become the demorcratic party!
So…I’ve been busy writing tonight and venting and yeah, trying to cool down my boiling blood. Stopped by chat and saw some calling for me, figured I’d leave my calling card. This Puma is in. :)

CALLING ALL COLORADANS
(MURPHY, I HOPE THIS IS OKAY WITH YOU)

I am trying to figure out the quickest and best way to help Sacha Millstone, the delegate from CO – I know she has an attorney – and, in so doing, help other delegates in other states. Plus, given her already high profile in the MSM, she could really help us, too.

Here is my idea. The rules of the democratic party in CO require delegates to represent the voters who elected them.

*********************************************
From the Model Delegate Selection Plan as proposed by the DNC and adopted by CO.

All delegate and alternate candidates must be identified as to presidential preference or uncommitted status at all
levels which determine presidential preference. (Rule 12.A.)
E. No delegate at any level of the delegate selection process shall be mandated by law or Party rules to vote
contrary to that person’s presidential choice as expressed at the time the delegate is elected. (Rule 12.I.)
F. Delegates elected to the national convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good conscience reflect
the sentiments of those who elected them. (Rule 12.J.)

********************************************

According to FOX, the CO state party has already dropped their demands for her to come in to discuss the comments contained in an e-mail she sent to another delegate expressing her doubts about voting for BO at the convention. But even if this is true, the S of S oversees everything related to elections in that state and should hear directly from the voters that they object to the party tactics. You could call him to report this inconsistency between the state party’s rules and what they tried to do to this delegate. Each of you could call independently. 303.894.2200.

And, while you are on the phone, ask whether any state laws require delegates selected at the caucuses to vote at the convention for candidates in whose name they were selected.

Then, contact the state party. Phone (303) 623-4762
Fax (303) 623-2443 and tell them you object to what they did to Ms. Millstone; you have reported them to the S of S; and you will be monitoring them to ensure from now on, they follow the rules.

DNC MODEL DELEGATE RULES

Any state that has adopted the DNC’s Model Delegate Rules is obligated to adhere to the provisions I listed for CO, in #445.

Dear Pumas,

Earlier this evening, I sent a little Puma love to a couple of Clinton democrats who are fighting to make sure Hillary’s name is placed in nomination. Here is the reply I received from one of them. I take it as a sign of hope.

***************

Thank you for the kind words. It means alot. I know, despite what the media says, that there is a strong number of people that share your senitiment. I am going to Denver to support Hillary. She is brightest and smartest politician our country and party has ever produced. Keep the faith.

#449 jbjd on 08.13.08 at 2:31 am

Taffy,

I just realized your previous comment referred to the same party rules I found. But after a long while, I had to stop looking for CO laws about delegate responsibilities; I have to start handing off the research. Anyway, calling the S of S is only asking your elected official to do the job for which you are paying him – and, hopefully, he will know the answer to your questions off the top of his head. (Take good notes.)

DELEGATE VOTING OBLIGATION AT CONVENTION

Taffy,

You were writing to me when I was writing to you!

This explanation from Time is incomplete. Remember, some state laws require delegates to vote for the candidate they represent, on at least the first ballot.

DELEGATE VOTES AT CONVENTION

Taffy,

This is fabulous! Nice work. I know of another state – either WA or OR – because I heard this last night on riverdaughter’s radio show. (I went to riverdaughter’s site to pull up the show but was unable to access her site, while she is away.) Anyway, PUMAs from GA can contact HRC delegates from that state, to make sure they know the law in their state and ask whether the state party has pressured them to switch to BO. If GA HRC delegates have been pressured, PUMAs can propose they could write a “Cease and Desist” letter to the head of the state party, copied to the S of S, advising them to stop extorting HRC pledged delegates to violate state law by committing to switching to BO before the convention or risk being replaced at the convention.

We need to have everyone’s back, not just HRC; because everyone’s back we cover, covers her.

Hi all,

#327 snowtiger,

When you said that BHO will choose himself as a VP I remembered a piece from one of the episodes from I love Lucy where Lucy is trying to get into the show, and Ricky needs brulet comics.

Fred Mertz (William Frawley) is playing an act of pretending to be two characters–Mertz and Kertz. He says ” I am Kertz” then jumps around and says “now I am Mertz, how are you Rick”? I love that moment. :D

This should be a lucky year for me. I was born in August. My birthday has 3 eights in it. This month is a pivotal point, it should be a lucky year for me. It is my birthday wish that Hillary becomes not only our Presidential nominee but our President.

Hillary’s speech on Tuesday, August 26 falls on my mother’s birthday. She died of breast cancer at 63. During the Clinton presidency, I was lifted economically enough to buy my mother a house two years before she died of breast cancer at 63. For those two years she was very happy, she would call me and tell me news of this family of birds living outside her window. She would wake up singing. She endured much pain in her life and were it not for the era of Clinton prosperity, she would not have had those happy two years. All those issues that Hillary Clinton has fought for have been my mother’s issues. I owe a great debt of gratitude to both Bill and Hillary. I can’t begin to describe what that point in time meant for me, for me to be able to give my mother this time of peace, time of happiness in her own home. I had worked just as hard and just as long under other Presidents. I remain convinced that it was Clintonian generosity, Clintonion policies that led in butterfly wing chaos theory synchronicity to that little house in Texas.

I hope and know that Hiilary will talk about these issues that mean so much to us, health care and economic solutions, based on a firm foundation of understanding, intelligent policy, leadership, experience, and the wisdom that comes from returning from defeat.

This is my lucky eight year, I want to share that luck with Hillary and wish against all odds that she carries the Convention, that she becomes our nominee, that the PUMAs and our common community prevails.

I just donated a lucky 80.00 to the cause.
This one is for Mom.

Good Morning Puma’s – I sure hope everyone had a good evening and will have a enjoyable day

You know, I found a home. I have gone through many years feeling disgusted with politics and the Democratic Party never feeling like I could make any difference. I went too many years just voting democratic and not questioning it. Till this year I never really got that involved, I never even donated a cent to any political candidate or pac. Boy that sure changed this year :-)

Well this year was the year to break the camels back. I have never been so upset, so mad, with such an intense feeling to try and change what has become a serious tragedy in the democratic party and with a candidate. I can not even begin to express my outrage over the party and the underlying dictatorship that Obama so closely resembles.

In either case, for once I feel my voice along with everyone else’s voice here can make a difference; we can help change the party. I feel so good about that and I sincerely want to thank Murphy and the people working so hard beside her for giving me/us this opportunity.

On another note – we (my wife and I) will be going out of town later today for a much needed vacation and part business trip. I will have the laptop so I can at least keep up with the prowls and quickly skim through the blog.

Wishing you all the very best, enjoy and peace :-)

Good Morning PUMAS!

So little time to blog these days but keeping up with Prowls, etc

NYT has an article on the text messaging for BO’s campaign to send info on the VP choice. It confirmed my thoughts on the idea which is to create the database to later send multiple messages (in Nov) to remind thier voters to vote on election day:

Good Morning Everyone

After reading through the post from the wee hours of the morning I was impressed with Alohapuma’s Critical Mass Theory in relation to the convention delegates.

I reposted them here so we can share in her outlook.

Alohapuma, I hope that all Pumas et al are in day 5 in your critical mass theory relating to the delegates.

Now that would be change we can believe in!

****************************
#374 alohapuma on 08.13.08 at 1:15 am

************************************
#410 alohapuma on 08.13.08 at 1:32 am
#380 sheila7
Not stupid at all…critical mass is a scientific term meaning the numbers that indicate an impeding majority.
Theoretically speaking, if you have cells in a test tube that duplicate themselves every 24 hours and on day 10 you have filled the test tube; on what day is the test tube half full?
Day 9.
Day 9 is critical mass. Make sense? The difference between Day 1 and Day 2 is very different than the difference between Day 9 and Day 10.
Puma’s need to get to Day 9.

***********************************
#431 alohapuma on 08.13.08 at 1:47 am
419 sheila7
I think critical mass means the perceivable numbers of voters that will support X instead of Y.
If the perception of the PUMA movement is that it represents “enough Americans” to stop Obama, then there will be a flood (Day 9 to Day 10) of delegates signing on.
My point is to say, we have laid the groundwork so that one day could bring a VERY different set of circumstance than the day before it. Two months ago…NO.
This is not to demean all delegates, I think many of them are making tough decisions they never signed up for…

#490 cjv on 08.13.08 at 7:40 am

I think most of us here do not support the idea that HRC being a VP will be good. I pray it isn’t so. I find it hard to believe that she would buy into that idea, even if she was being strong armed by the DNC/BO campaign. It takes her out of any possibility of running in 2012, with the assumption that the current situation remains status quo with BO receiving the coronation.

Something tells me that there may be something going on that may work to her benefit if the schedule changed with someone else speaking. Maybe we will get a better idea as the day wears on.

#491 MadLogic on 08.13.08 at 7:41 am

Stardust – I’m still angry about basing those delegates on “exit polls”. Everyone knows how inaccurate they are . . .the Obamabots have intimidated people so that they won’t say they’re not voting for him. We have lots and lots of closet PUMAs out there.

Mark Warner to deliver Democratic convention keynote
Posted: 08:24 AM ET

From CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser

Warner (here campaigning with Obama in Virginia) is considered a rising star in the Democratic Party.
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former Virginia Governor and Senate candidate Mark Warner will deliver the keynote address at this month’s 2008 Democratic National Convention.

Barack Obama’s presidential campaign announced Wednesday that Warner will deliver the speech on the convention’s second night, Tuesday August 26 — that’s also the night that Senator Hillary Clinton (D-New York) will also speak in prime time. Clinton came very close to winning the Democratic presidential nomination, dropping her bid for the White House and backing Obama just two months ago, after the end of the primary season.

But Warner gets the coveted role of keynote speaker. Four years ago a little-known state lawmaker from Illinois who was running for the Senate had the same role. His speech at the convention in Boston was highly praised by Democrats. That man, Obama, went on to win his election and now the Democrat’s presumptive presidential nominee.

Warner won election as Virginia’s governor in 2001, the first in a string of statewide election victories by Democrats this decade in a state that was once dominated by Republicans. Warner is now facing off with the man he succeeded in Richmond, Republican Jim Gilmore, in the battle to succeed retiring Senator John Warner (no relation to Mark Warner), a Republican who has held the seat for three decades.

Democrats say the theme of the second night of the convention will be “Renewing America’s Promise.”

===================

Could Obama be PO’d at Hillary!!!

Can anyone confirm or deny this? My husband does have a tiny bit of hearing problem so maybe he did not hear correctly. Then I read above Ted Strickland was the keynote speaker. #463 hmmmm What is going on?

this is from OHOHIO who had trouble commenting

Dear Ms. Ferraro
Thank you from one of the 18 million voters for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Thank you for speaking out on National TV informing the electorate that the “double standard” against women who compete has got to stop!

I know you were referring to Hillary as you spoke out last Sunday. But I want to thank you for speaking out for all the female population who meet the wall of the “double standard” in their competitions in life. This wall exists and surrounds us and continues to undermine our democracy. When our elitist Congress chooses to SELECT a candidate such as Barack Obama over Hilllary Clinton, the “double standard” wall seems to become more insurmountable.

For those of us who walk along the unfriendly side of that wall, I thank you and am so grateful for your acknowledgement. Thank you for speaking the truth on our behalf.

88888888888888888
so in re: to Ed Rendell. Who is giving him his orders? Or is he just leading the pack over there with the bad guys?

Welcome back Murphy! Hope we start getting some good news here with Hillary going to get her name in nomination?

He may be po’d , but I have a different plan for the convention : There will be so many of us in Denver that Hill will be so supported and feel so confident that she will give the greatest speech of her lifetime , and at the end , she will demand her name be placed in the roll call , and move for an immediate vote at wich time all of the dels. will be so inspired that she will be elected unanimously ! There will be cheeringin the streets and All good Pumas will sleep well that night knowing they have changed the course of history .

#516 TexasTigress on 08.13.08 at 8:58 am

Mama , anything on #498 ?

#517 mpk on 08.13.08 at 8:58 am

Hi all , I’m not sure that Hillary was slated to be the keynote speaker that night in the first place-she will be among four other speakers-apparently she doesn’t rate to be a keynote speaker

#509 hillaryistheone on 08.13.08 at 8:47 am Mark Warner to deliver Democratic convention keynote

___________
Now I am really confused?? #463 Ted Strickland will be the keynote speaker. Is there some back door dealings going on with Obama once again?

#520 slyt2 on 08.13.08 at 9:00 am

#512 Oneof18million cracks I heard on Ed Hales show last night about her not being a keynote speaker anymore but like you heard nothing on the news channels about it but i have to admit I have not been combing the internet looking for it this morning. As far as Ted Strickland goes that is totally news to me maybe this is something that was decided when they were sharing there birthday here in OH. So nope I don’t know anything either except at one time he said no to VP maybe he changed his mind.

#525 TexasTigress on 08.13.08 at 9:05 am

#523 prowlland I had heard that all 3 hospitals in Hawaii were missing the records from xo’s birth year . Some people werehoping that it was the atty. gen’s office that had taken the records because they are finally investigating the situation after several people had filed complaints . (Pumas filed complaints last week )

Good Morning Pumas,
I’m sorry to have to ask again, but could someone please send me the Ferrano and Rendel prowls. I have emailed Murphy and Fred, but have not gotten a reply.

Anyone else having problems getting the prowls?

As for the convention upheavals–I believe that NoName’s campaign folks are trying everything to keep Hillary out of it and they will stop at nothing since they have been able to get this far by lies and cheating.

We must keep up the pressure, the prowls, and stick together. I am impressed by all of the energy and ideas coming from this site.

Great work Pumas!

Good morning PUMAs. I’ve been up a while now, but I’m just now getting a chance to catch up on all the new stuff and post a comment.

In light of all the ruckus going on in Washington, in the blogosphere and in general, all around the country, I’d say that we PUMAs are making a lot more than just a ripple in the water–we’re making a tidal wave and tipping over boats!

If we weren’t doing something, everyone wouldn’t be fuming mad like they are. It’s no wonder DNC ‘big shots’ are giving orders and trying to unconstitutionally tell others how to vote and not to exercise their rights to free speech. We are doing what’s best for our nation, our families and our children, and we need to keep our heads high and our actions civil but firm.

I am ready to double my efforts to win this battle. We need to strongly oppose those who are desperately trying to quiet us, and we need to voice our support for those delegates and supporters that are strong enough to ‘just say no deal’ and stay behind Our Girl.

I’m dedicating extra time today to write e-mails and fax letters to delegates, and hopefully call some of Hillary’s most prominent supporters to let them know we are behind them 1000% and to not back down. We aren’t backing down either, we’re surging forward with them! Okay, let’s go team. And…..break!

#533 Bill-K on 08.13.08 at 9:12 am

#529 utahpuma – I have both prowls but I don’t know the best way to get them to you since I don’t have your e-mail address.

#534 utahpuma on 08.13.08 at 9:14 am

Bill-K
Thank you so much. You can email me.
jesse seven two seven at live dot com

Thanks again.

#535 utahpuma on 08.13.08 at 9:15 am

Oh, looks like everyone went upstairs.

See you there!

#536 Bill-K on 08.13.08 at 9:19 am

#534 utahpuma – Thanks. If I got it right, you should have e-mail :-)

#537 WolfmanJack on 08.13.08 at 10:15 am

I think the more they try to use force to make us support the Precious One, the bigger the loss will be in November.

Force often is met by force.

#538 blondlady on 08.13.08 at 1:56 pm

What is happening in Little Rock?

#539 john on 08.13.08 at 5:00 pm

Rumor Colin Power could be Obama’s VP

#540 MJT on 08.15.08 at 9:27 am

Not sure if my post went through, please forgive me if I post twice.

As a life long Democrat, I cannot vote for anyone in the Democratic party, certainty not Obama. I hate the way the leaders of the party and superdelegates destroyed my right to vote. I hate the way they treated Hillary but hate even more the way they treated the whole loyal Democratic party. The only way to fight bullies like this is not to vote for any Democrat, that is the only way to get their attention and rid the party of corrupt thugs.

There is no way any of these corrupt thugs will allow Hillary enough votes at the convention to win. They are appeasing her supporters to get their vote in Nov., that don’t get it with me. This group of sick corrupt slime bags will never again get my support. They want Hillary supporters to fall in line and support Obama…no way ever for me. The only way to rid the party of these lying thieves is to vote all Democrats out in November. John Edwards is a good argument for electing a female president. Right now, my prayers are with John McCain becoming our next president. I just wished he had the strength that Hillary Clinton has. She is by far the strongest and most intelligent person to ever run for president.
