Agreed. What is disgusting is the party itself. That’s why PUMA exists– to help restore it to true democracy for the people. If it can’t be than another party is needed. Republicans aren’t much better… only the lesser of two evils for now.
I’m an independent and think McCain is a party unto himself. That’s more to my liking than what Hillary is being put through… or allowing herself to be put through for the sake of party loyalty.
I was hoping Ms. Clinton had the courage and conviction to brake away from such an awful party that’s destined for extinction and start a new movement. Unfortunately, like with the great Chief Joseph, she has decided to fight no more. Maybe forever too.
Her situation reminds me of a bad marriage whereby the wife stays with her husband even when she is being hideously abused. Why a woman doesn’t leave such a relationship and start anew is consternating to me for I believe a woman is stronger than a man.

She needs a minimum of 300 delegates (not the Super D’s) in order to have her name placed into nomination. That will likely occur. However, the next part is that she either accepts or declines which is done at the convention where I am pretty sure is on the 26th.

It remains to be seen.
Such an effort would take some time and some preparation. It couldn’t be done without gathering up considerable support and doing so under the radar. I don’t doubt that there aren’t many other politicians (on both sides of the isle) that would support such a move.
Give it a bit of time. We have yet to see how this sorry state of affairs will ultimately unfold.
I understand your impatience, but nothing good comes quickly, painlessly or without considerable effort and sacrifice. If you’re going to upset the status quo, as she would do if she challenges them, it’s best to do it when you’ve got the best possible chances of succeeding. Going off prematurely, half-cocked, would be an astromonical error. She is not one to make such an atrocious error. After all, she is not Howard Dean, Barack Obama or the DNC.

My Email to Super Delegates
Dear Pumas,
I don’t normally send mass emails to super delegates because I’ve been wary of irritating them and hurting our cause. However, encouraged by Murphy’s feedback on our making a difference, I sent the following email today.
It’s lengthy, but I wanted to hit some key points.
I didn’t identify myself as a Puma, since some super delegates are disregarding our words because of a bias against PUMA. I’m obviously proud of being a Puma. However, if leaving that out means that super delegates are more likely to read my email, it’s worth it.

Dear Super Delegate,
I’ve been hesitant to send mass mailings to super delegates, because I understand how trying it has been for you to receive so many emails. And yet, I’m so concerned about the future of our country that I feel I must do my part.
I’m asking first and foremost that you sign the petition to put Hillary Clinton’s name in nomination at the Democratic convention. This is vital, if for no other reason than to ensure a fair and honest election process.
Second, I’m encouraging you to vote for Hillary Clinton at the convention. Democrats want to win this November. Hillary is simply the strongest candidate against John McCain and the one most qualified to lead our country.
I gave Barack Obama serious consideration in the beginning. Once upon a time, I even favored a Clinton-Obama ticket. And since my own beliefs are most closely aligned with those of the Democrats than they are with those of the Republicans, it follows that I would want a Democratic President.
However, the more I see and listen to Barack Obama, the more I dislike and distrust him. Meanwhile, the more I see John McCain, the more he’s growing on me. I couldn’t say that during the Republican debates.
Out of consideration for your busy schedule, I’m going to keep my comments as brief as I can. Please understand that I could write at great length about why I won’t vote for Barack Obama. However, I’ll summarize my most important reasons below. I hope you’ll take these to heart, because most of my friends feel the same way. Most of us will vote for John McCain in November (if Hillary is not the nominee), because we feel strongly that we must keep Barack Obama out of the White House.
I’m not at all comfortable with Senator Obama’s 20-year history at Trinity Church. It’s human nature to embrace the attitudes of people around us when we want to fit in, to belong, and to be liked. Thus I believe that Senator Obama does indeed embrace the hateful rhetoric of Reverend Wright.
Senator Obama lost any chance of getting my vote when I saw how dismissive he is of everyone and everything that doesn’t serve his immediate interests. I saw that same trait in George Bush before he became President, and I knew he would be wrong for our country. I might have been willing to give Senator Obama the benefit of the doubt before I saw the resemblance to George Bush. But not anymore.
I see great disparity between Senator Obama’s words and actions. So even though his “stated” policies may be close to Hillary Clinton’s, I don’t trust him. I’m not even going to get into the flip-flopping argument, because I do believe that politicians should have the right to change their positions upon receiving new information, giving a matter further consideration, or evaluating what’s working or not working already. Instead, I judge Senator Obama strictly on those things I can observe first-hand.
To me, the greatest telltale indication that Senator Obama is not a man of his word is his refusal to debate John McCain. Throughout the primary season, Barack Obama kept saying, “I welcome that debate with John McCain.” Senator McCain has repeatedly asked for a series of town hall debates, but Senator Obama refuses to do them. His words and his actions are inconsistent. Barack Obama complains now that he wants a “debate on the issues” instead of the “attacks” he feels John McCain levies against him. But Senator Obama is the only one standing in the way of a debate on the issues.
Senator Obama’s refusal to debate Senator McCain tells me other things too, things vital for you to understand, because many voters feel the same way. It tells me he’s dismissive of voters who want to hear those debates. It tells me he has no intention of and no ability to “reach across the aisle,” as he keeps promising he will do. It tells me that he does not believe in transparency in government, another one of his promises. It tells me that he’s afraid John McCain will expose the lack of substance behind his rhetoric. And it tells me that he’s afraid to speak without the aid of a teleprompter and the scripted words of his speechwriters.
I think that Senator Obama would be an economic disaster for America if he were elected. My concerns about Barack Obama’s economic plan began when I saw how he would outspend Hillary Clinton by two-, three-, or four-to-one during the primaries, but Hillary consistently got more votes per dollars spent. Although Hillary has often been criticized for her campaign debt, no one can argue that she “did more with less.” Even John McCain, who was almost counted out last summer, came roaring back to win his party’s nomination on a shoestring budget. John McCain, too, did more with less.
Economic health depends on making wise choices, not ones where we’re spending two, three, or four times what someone else would pay for comparable results. Yet that’s what Barack Obama does … and presumably what he would do with taxpayer money should he become President. He’ll spend our money recklessly, as is common with people who suddenly come into unearned wealth, then raise everyone’s taxes to pay for his indiscretions.
Senator Obama spends obscene amounts of money to feed his ego. While he’s spending a fortune on frivolous items like repainting his airplane and creating a fake Presidential seal that he’s later forced to dump because of controversy, nothing is being done to help Americans struggling in this economy and nothing is being done about the real problems that Americans care about. I’m not going to vote for a candidate who cares more about feeding his ego than about serving his constituents.
Again, I could go on at great length about why I won’t vote for Senator Obama, but I’d rather stop here so that you can give serious consideration to my top issues.
I’ll add two more important points. One, many of my friends have taken to describing Senator Obama as “scary.” Like me, none of them knew of Senator Obama before he entered the Presidential race. Like me, most gave him serious consideration in the beginning. The fact that people are moving from a position of giving him serious consideration to one of trying to keep him out of the White House at all costs should concern you.
Two, my friends and I no longer consider an Obama-Clinton ticket a viable option. We don’t want Senator Obama in the White House under any circumstances. And we don’t want Senator Obama to ruin Senator Clinton’s political career. She doesn’t need his baggage taking her down.
In closing, I again ask you to sign the petition to put Hillary Clinton’s name in nomination at the convention and then to vote for Hillary Clinton at each opportunity.

On Monday they turned in 1,932 and 49% of them were declared invalid. They have said they are going to fight it in the courts if necessary, but are trying to get more signatures and not have to go through the courts. They have 24 hours. There were different answers explained on the NO WE WONT radio last night by Paul. The answer varies depending on the method used to get into nomination. Don’t quote me — but I believe he said that if she unsuspends her campaign… then she would need to do it before the week of the convention. But if she uses the method of providing the signed petition along with delegate petitions, that could be done up until the time of roll call.

HRC appears to support BO only as a promise when she suspended her campaign. There’s likely a fair amount of friction between the two otherwise.
There’s no telling what she will do at the convention. However, at least right now she is probably at a strategic advantage not revelaing her intentions. She can wait until the last minute to make her decision based if BO ever gets vetted properly, the polls, any other info, etc.
I think the next couple of weeks are going to be quite a ride and quite an emotional rollercoaster for all of us.

No offense but I totally disagree with this attitude. I went ahead and mailed off my notarized letter to Alexis Herman to have Donna Brazile stripped of super delegate status. So while you’re pondering his information… I plan to act on it.
We must not lose sight of the fact that many former Democrats will NOT support Barrack Obama for the presidency. We must keep the public informed of our numbers. I know of no former Clinton supporter that will vote for BO. It has nothing to do with being sore losers. We feel he is a weak candidate.

She said they were told to vote uncommitted and if there were 15% uncommited, there would be a caucus to award those votes. when that didn’t happen, she called the party and they hung up on her. LETTER NO 1
I am writing to you to encourage you to place your support as a super delegate behind Senator Hillary Clinton, who is, by far, the stronger candidate.
Senator Clinton has the necessary experience. Senator Obama does not.
Senator Clinton has a track record of being a unifier in Congress, finding common ground and making compromises, which is the only way things can get done. That said, she also knows when to stand her ground. Conversely, Senator Obama has a track record of digging in or not voting, being rigid or cowardly.
Senator Clinton won the popular vote. She also won key states that the Democrats must win to carry the election in November. Senator Obama, on the other hand, has won states that traditionally go to Republicans. In addition, many of his wins have been in caucus states where voter turn out is low and the context has got to be the most undemocratic notion I can conceive of.
Senator Clinton has won and won and won even while being significantly outspent by Senator Obama. She has also continued to win in the face of highly biased media and a DNC that is looking more and more autocratic by the day.
Senator Clinton has been tested and vetted. Senator Obama has only just begun to get a taste of how the Republicans will define him. He will not stand up to their scrutiny.
Related to that, Senator Obama has a history of affiliating himself with some questionable characters, something that deserves scrutiny.
No matter how you look at it, there’s only one choice: Senator Clinton. She has the experience, she is the one strategically placed to beat McCain in the general election, and she has not had a history of affiliating herself with terrorists, hate mongers, or slum lords.
The office of the President of the United States is an awesome position and these are dangerous times. Can we truly afford to have a neophyte in office cutting his teeth on the job at our expense?
Clinton is the only choice. The best choice. Please come out today and publicly place your support behind Senator Clinton.
LETTER NO 2
I am writing to you as a lifelong Democrat, as a Hillary Clinton supporter and a concerned American citizen. If you are a Clinton supporter, thank you. If you are an Obama supporter, thank you in advance for reading my letter and for your consideration. If you are undecided, I urge you to place your support behind Senator Clinton.
Being deeply involved this election cycle, I have been outraged by the litany of misguided, misinformed and manipulative actions by the media, the DNC and the Obama campaign which resulted in a distortion of Senator Clinton’s image in the public’s mind, at best. At worst, there have been back room deals that have threatened the very fabric of our democracy.
Senator Obama’s nomination should not be inevitable. The ultimate selection of the Democratic nominee hinges on 1) all delegates being seated at the convention and having their rightful vote, and 2) superdelegate’s votes.
As a Superdelegate, I urge you to support Senator Clinton. She is by far and away not only the most qualified candidate, but she is also the candidate who does not have a history of cocaine abuse, affiliations with hate mongers (Wright, Farrakhan), criminals (Rezko) and terrorists (Ayers, Khalidi) along with a propensity to minimize those relationships. Nor does she have a history of neglecting thousands of constituents suffering in dilapidated pubic housing while simultaneously becoming aligned with the slumlord of those buildings. Her voting record is impeccable, compared to Senator Obama’s which is pitifully short and shows no proof of being the “unifier” that he claims to be (in fact quite the opposite). Senator Obama also has a poor grasp of history, a dangerously naïve view of national security and foreign policy, a campaign strategy rooted in ruthless Chicago politics, and a profoundly confused platform that appears to shift and switch and flip-flop by the day. One can only wonder: Who is this man and what does he stand for?
This election should be a no-brainer. We don’t nominate individuals with one year of experience in Congress (the rest of the term has been spent campaigning) and the kind of history that Barack Obama has. It is simply not done, and for good reason. Let’s not start now.
Clinton has spent 35 years of her life as a public servant. She is wildly intelligent with a mind boggling grasp of national and international policy. She has a breadth and depth of experience worthy of the job description of POTUS. She has a history in Congress of both reaching across the isle to get things done and holding her ground when she felt it necessary. She has a brilliantly articulated platform and has garnered support from all quarters. She won the popular vote. She won the key states Democrats must win in order to win in the general election. She won when she was outspent by Obama many times over. She won despite a relentless onslaught of negative media that was not deserved. She won without the DNC speaking out when she was the victim time and again of misogyny. She is smart, capable, strong, and resilient. She has been vetted and survived.
She will be our next President if you do your part. With this letter, I am doing mine.

LETTER NO 3
I am writing to you to encourage you to place your support as a Superdelegate behind Senator Hillary Clinton. I began the race supporting Dennis Kucinich. When he dropped out, I began the task of researching the background and experience of both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton. It soon became abundantly clear to me that Senator Clinton was, by far, the stronger candidate. Since that time, my passion and resolve to support her has only increased as I have watched, in awe, as she has overcome overwhelming media bias against her, at best, and outright disrespect, at worst. She has become an extraordinary example of leadership in the face of adversity. My resolve to support her has also increased in direct relation to increasing concerns about Senator Obama’s judgment when it comes to his history of affiliating himself with less-then-desirable individuals, including Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, and Tony Rezko.
In addition to Senator Clinton’s experience, she won more votes in the primaries than anyone in history and won the popular vote. If the Superdelegates want to support the “will of the people”, the people have spoken and have voted for Senator Clinton. And, if the Superdelegates want to ensure in this incredibly close primary, that our nominee is one who can beat John McCain in the general election, Hillary Clinton is the only choice.
In sum, Senator Clinton has the experience, the popular vote, and the ability to carry states we Democrats must win in order to defeat McCain. Supporting Senator Clinton is wise and strategic. Conversely, Senator Obama has scant experience, no track record of being a unifier in Congress, a history of poor judgment, and, upon analysis of many of his comments, a confused notion if historical events and timelines. This is the reality we must confront, despite Obama’s inspiring orations and his lead in the delegate count garnered from many states that either held caucuses (the most undemocratic notion I can imagine) and/or those that are not central to our base of support.
Thank you for your consideration.
These are dangerous times and we cannot afford to make a mis-step by nominating the wrong person to run for the highest office in the land because we got caught up in a frenzy of excitement and lost our way.

Primary Season Becomes Open Season for Beating Up On Women
This primary season has me feeling increasingly uneasy. As a Democrat, I initially attributed this to the mounting dread at the prospect of my (not for much longer) party nominating a neophyte for President of the United States. More recently, I’ve become aware that my feelings of unease are also related to the free floating hatefulness that has been expressed toward women, with the primary target being Senator Clinton. As the weeks and months have passed, there has been a relentless onslaught of outrageous comments and behaviors that are disrespectful and dismissing. In some cases, the tenor has been one of outright aggression toward Senator Clinton, her high visibility female supporters, and women, in general. I am one of those women and I take it personally.
The media has given itself free reign to treat Senator Clinton with disrespect. Senator Obama also seems to feel free to treat her in a dismissive manner. The Democratic National Committee, in its silence, has left her hanging out to dry. Blogs are full of referrals to her and her supporters as “fat ass bitches”.
Senator Clinton has been objectified with nutcrackers being sold in apparent reference to her body form. And now Barnes & Noble is selling a product called the “Hillary Clinton Voodoo Kit: Stick it to Her before She Sticks it to You”. Can anyone imagine a comparable product for any of the men running for office being created and tolerated?
CNN has openly called upon Clinton to “reject the votes of racists”, including the production of a t-shirt with that statement on it. It’s an inappropriate, provocative and inflammatory action. This bastion of news media does this as if racists, sexists, homophobes, and all the other “ists”, “obes” and “isms” haven’t always had a voice in elections. Curiously, they have not called upon Senator Obama to reject the votes of misogynists.
When an audience member held up a placard at a Clinton rally with the message “Iron My Shirt” on it, there was nary a peep made in the media or from members of the DNC. As Geraldine Ferraro astutely commented, if someone had held up a sign at an Obama rally that read, “Shine My Shoes”, one doubts the silence would have been so palpable.
I’ve wondered if white Americans who are tripping over themselves to appear lacking a racist bone in their body have, perhaps, displaced some of their racists attitudes toward Clinton with over exaggerated expressions of sexism, which appears well tolerated these days.
I’ve wondered if the number of women being battered across America has risen over these past several months as men with an inclination toward violence against women feel emboldened by the permissive atmosphere to “stick it to us”.
One thing’s for sure, I’ve reached my boiling point. Women across America should be outraged, irrespective of whether they support Senator Clinton or not, for we are the ones who suffer as a result of this nightmarish display of hatefulness that has been unleashed upon us this primary season.

I wrote a letter explaining my belief that Donna Brazile acted inappropriately and with a conflict of interest when presenting herself as a neutral representative on CNN. I mentioned that just because she didn’t officially declare her position — her words and her actions on CNN along with her RBC meeting actions made it obvious that she was not neutral. I also put a few complaints in the letter about the DNC attempts to mislead the public on a fair process at the convention (not only in the media coverage — but through their responses to field questions on the phone). Just some points to consider when typing a letter if anyone wants to borrow and if that helps.

Clinton did not LOSE anything; Obama has lost the support and respect of many Clinton supporters. With the reinstatement of the Michigan and Florida delegates, there is only a 59 delegate advantage for Obama. Looking at how his support is tanking with young voters, women, men, Latino and Asian voters, maybe Clinton, if nominated, could pull this out. In any case, after the Democratic Party has been summarily stripped of any independence or power by Obama’s campaign, there won’t be much left of the Democratic party after the convention. Don’t blame Clinton, put the blame where it squarely lies, with Obama and the DNC.

Regarding whether Hillary wants Obama to win or not
I hope NOT because OBAMA would KILL what is left of America–between his ties to criminals, racists, and misogynists AND his tax plan which would basically GUT small businesses–only thing left would be the ULTRA rich and the WELFARE CROWD.
Hillary Clinton, at this point, owes the DNC (now fully enslaved in a few offices in OBAMALAND on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois) and Mr. Obama JACK SHIT. Cafferty — I am so tired of everyone at CNN assuming that the American public “wants” Obama to be the nominee. I feel very strongly that Clinton has a right to not only be nominated, but to experience a fair process at the convention WITHOUT media bias or hidden agendas forced on us from the Obama camp. I will not be watching CNN during this election year.
If your ratings are suffering behind FOX — then FIGURE IT OUT! You guys should not be calling yourself journalists… more like propagandist. I witnessed the vitriol during the Primaries. I will not watch it any more. I choose FOX. I choose Clinton. I choose democracy. Country before party. No Obama ever. Everyone needs to do their homework on this man and not trust CNN to report the truth… they’ve proven they won’t.

Are Georgia Voters Sending Obama A Message?

Politicians grabbing Barack Obama’s coattails should take note: In the Georgia democratic Senatorial primary runoff held yesterday, Jim Martin defeated Vernon Jones by a 60% to 40%. Martin will now face the Republican senior Senator from Georgia, Saxby Chambliss, in November’s election. This doesn’t seem to bode well for Obama’s presidential quest. Jones’s campaign hoped to emulate Obama’s impressive primary victory in Georgia (he defeated Senator Hillary Clinton in Georgia, 66.4% to 31.1%), but now he’s failed to even make it to November’s ballot.
In fact, Jones distributed campaign paraphernalia consisting of a picture of himself and Obama, with the words “Yes We Can!” prominently scrawled underneath the photographs.
Also, Jones sent a mass email meant to smear his opponent Martin:
My campaign has uncovered evidence that my opponent, Jim Martin, did not want Senator Barack Obama to be President of the United States and that Jim Martin voted against Barack Obama in the February 2008 Presidential Primary election in Georgia.

Clinton didn’t say too much. Mostly the usual neutral language in answering questions. I think what the chat was about was more about the numbers — how many people logged in to hear from her (rather than what was said). I’m at work so I couldn’t stay on her site for too long but I read posts that suggests that the Obama camp might have shut many people out. They’re in trouble and they know it and they will probably get incredibly aggressive in the next few weeks.

Well McCain released a new ad using words of the Democrats against Barack and words that praised McCain… so I think that ad will be very successful. It was excellent and even includes Clinton saying that McCain has experience while Barack just gives a speech.

A DANGEROUS DOUBLE STANDARD
The Democratic party appears to be getting dangerously close to nominating a candidate for President who attends a place of worship that has openly hailed a hateful anti-Semite as a great man. We must ask ourselves, if Senator Clinton or Senator McCain attended a church that lauded David Duke as a great man, giving him a Lifetime Achievement Award, would we look the other way? Would that be acceptable? Would we be willing to lower the bar that far? If, in answering these questions, our answer is that it would be unacceptable, then the next obvious question is: Why are we giving Senator Obama the latitude to sidestep the core of our basic values that lead us to our answer?
The press is as misguided in discussing the issue as Obama is about where he chooses to worship. The media focuses on whether Senator Obama is truly Christian, or not. The question is absurd. There’s no reason to belief he isn’t. And, so what if he wasn’t? The issue is that the senator chooses to worship at a church that has identified Farrakhan as a great man.
Recently, in referring to the minister of his church, Senator Obama stated that everyone has an uncle in their family who says or does things we don’t like on occasion. While this analogy washed over the press and appeared satisfactory, it is deeply flawed. We cannot choose our uncles, but we do choose where we worship. Senator Obama can espouse all the rhetoric he wants, but at the end of the day, he has chosen to attend a church that has raised Louis Farrakhan to great heights. Is that the standard we want to set for the person who may be our next President? Is this new wave of presumed change that Senator Obama is ushering in one that has defined a new kind of political correctness, such that intelligent, fair-minded people dare not challenge him on this important point? Let us not become so dazzled, so hypnotized by his highly polished presentation that when we wake up from our pleasant dream we are appalled to find we have made a dreadful mistake.
A MICROCOSM OF BARACK OBAMA’S NATIONAL SECURITY
In February, as was reported in the press, Barack Obama instructed the Dallas police to stop having voters come through metal detectors at a rally because it was delaying getting them into the arena quickly. If Senator Obama is feeling that omnipotent and this glib about his own safety, how in the world can we trust him with our own? By forgoing this crucial safety check, he not only put his own life at risk, but the lives of those who came to hear him speak, as well. And this is the man many would have as the Democrat nominee for President of the United States and our Commander in Chief? I think not.
#73 taylorgrob1-not only is PUMA here today because BO is a weak candidate but let’s not forget the biggest reason we have assembled this protest- I see this as a direct declaration to the lame-o DNC that we are not hostages to their usual ploys any longer.
We do have somewhere to go and we are going if they decide to put up an unvetted, inexperienced candidate w/ nary a voting record to be found, with questionable associates, questionable fraud, questionable fund raising, questionable judgement… you get the picture, I could be here all afternoon going on with my rant.
The bottom line for me this year was the questionable caucus returns, the inability for him to pull out a lead despite the amount of money he spent, the padding of the delegates and the supers. The way the DNC orchestrated this whole show,the back room deals with the Michigan delegates.
That’s why I am here. I must say, if he won fair and square, I would probably have been disappointed but I would have moved on.
The point is he didn’t. We haven’t moved on and thankfully we have not because the louder we get, the larger the microscope for him and maybe the public suddenly regurgitates the kool-aid.

All of those delegates that are submitting are getting their petitions individually notorized in order to prevent the games played by Pelousy, Mr Bean. DNC, et all. However, I wouldn’t put anything past their scheming dirty tactics. Yet, the petitions should go through.
HOPE SPRINGS IRONIC:
We Dare Not Press a Black Man Running for President on Substantive Issues, but We Appear Willing to Shower Wrath Upon the Woman
The national discourse on the two Democratic party contenders for nomination boasts a degree of cognitive dissonance that may be greater than the current political rhetoric. We seem to be a fickle public, with issues we claim as being at the forefront of our concerns changing by the day, from global warming to the need for hope.
It appears from much of what you read in the press that Obama’s supporters don’t want policy details as much as they want a sense inspiration. I’m all for inspiration. Who wouldn’t be? However, this suspension of the need for something concrete is magical and somewhat frightening. Suddenly, large masses of people would seemingly prefer to take a leap of faith because they find Obama likable, rather than support a candidate (Hillary Clinton) who has a long and impressive track record. They zero in on Senator Clinton’s shortcomings while ignoring Obama’s short term in Congress. This gap in experience is filled with the voter’s belief that he can deliver.
Obama prophylactically notes in many of his speeches that his administration “will make mistakes”. This appears to endear him even more to his supporters. He seems honest. Yet Senator Clinton is given no room to make a single mistake (whether she uses that word, herself, or not).
Perhaps there’s also a touch of kill the witch going on here. The press and members of the electorate routinely state that men don’t like, even hate, Senator Clinton. It’s a shocking thing to consider. Why aren’t we more appalled by this blatant misogyny? Wouldn’t we be outraged if we read daily comments that whites don’t like, even hate, Obama?
In addition, Senator Clinton is a strong woman. I doubt a woman who had a presentation more like Obama’s would even rise to the level Senator Clinton has achieved. Instead, such a female in American politics would likely be consider too refined, too soft-spoken, not someone who could be Commander-in-Chief.
Then there’s the added jargon of the month about “insiders” vs “outsiders”. Americans have recently jumped on the bandwagon of feeling that “insiders” are to be avoided and that “outsiders” necessarily bring something better to the table. However, the network of relationships that “insiders” have developed is crucial to getting things done in Washington and “outsiders” will need to build such relationships for the same reason. Why not, then, go with the candidate who already has a substantial foundation of relationships upon which to further build, rather than feeling compelled to support a candidate who will simply be all that much further behind in building a network because he is still quite young and inexperienced on the national and international political scene? Jimmy Carter’s presidency is often cited to have failed in large part because he was a Washington “outsider” and did not have a network of beltway relationships to call upon.
And what of the recent plethora of negative comments in the press about the Clintons? Have we suffered from selective amnesia? Until recently, among Democrats, Bill Clinton seems to have enjoyed being hailed as a President who, for the most part, did a good job during his term in office. Even after leaving office, admiration for his intelligence and charm abounded. Now, suddenly, he and his wife are demonized. Why? Are Congress, the press and the public that fickle?
I don’t hold the Clintons up on any pedestal. They have made their fair share of mistakes, both personal and political. However, it appears that we want our elected officials be bigger than life, humans without flaws, and in the case of Senator Obama, nearly messianic. And while it seems reasonable to strive to elect people to office who appear to uphold values we deem as desirable, the fact is that people are simply more complex than we may want to acknowledge. LBJ was a politician with a history of shady politics, yet he was a president who successfully championed social programs that benefited millions of disenfranchised Americans, including a critical omnibus Civil Rights Act.
We humans are complex creatures. Let us not elevate to saintly heights nor burn at the stake our two Senators who are competing to be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.

RECIPE FOR NEOPHYTE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
If you’re tired of having a Bush Dynasty, concerned about the prospect of a Clinton Dynasty, but love the idea of a continuing Kennedy Dynasty, of sorts, this is the recipe for you.
Ingredients
· 2 seasoned Democratic senators, would-be-kingmakers (preferably with last names beginning with the letter K)
· 1 inexperienced Democratic senator (charm and good looks required, substance optional)
· Millions of voters desperate to embrace an exotic star who promises them the world
· Dazed media (massive television, print and electronic coverage required, thoughtfulness discouraged)
· DNC with similar level of thoughtfulness as media
· Pinch of good luck
Directions
· Mix all senators together briskly in large bowl.
· Add voters and marinate overnight.
· In separate bowl, stir media and DNC until fully blended.
· Slowly, but steadily, fold into original mixture.
· Add pinch of good luck and stir gently.
· Pour into cake pan that has been stolen from opponent’s kitchen.
· Bake 350 degrees until top is golden brown. Do not check while baking for any flaws or problems, but simply allow to develop in its own way.
· Remove from oven and let cool. It should get real cool.
Makes one cake that’s lighter and less substantial than even the lightest angel food cake. You could call this a Messiah cake.
Icing is optional, but recommended. See icing recipe below:
Icing
Mix together a whole lot of misogyny with a cup of hateful syrup until nice and thick. Generously spoon onto cake. This truly is the “icing on the cake”.

The 3am Alarm Clock
As a lifelong Democrat I was faced with two historic choices this protracted primary season. It was exciting and inspiring. I was proud of my party to be making history and dove into the work of researching the candidates and assessing their credibility.
Senator Obama touts a promise of “change”. Change is not inherently good or bad. Any party vying for office when the opposing party is in power wants change. Nothing new.
Senator Obama’s promises to end gridlock in Washington, despite having no track record of doing so. Empty promise.
Senator Obama’s promise of change pits the future against the past, suggesting nothing good came out of Washington in the past, while promising miracles for the Washington of the future. In so doing, he denies our country’s rich history of government acting on behalf of the best interests of it’s citizens. An ignorant and arrogant perspective.
Senator Obama suggests that he is above the fray, with a greater sense of integrity and moral righteousness than other politicians. He boasts that his campaign has not taken a single penny from special interest groups, while his ties to Tony Rezko have been made public. And even without Rezko in the picture, any politician can make the claim the senator makes since PACS can accept the special interest money for you. A lie and a meaningless claim.
Senator Obama professes that he will heal the country’s racial divides. However, he has spent the last twenty years of his life attending a church that preached vile, hateful, anti-American, anti-white, anti-Semitic views with great passion, including elevation of Farrakhan to great heights. He compares Wright to an uncle in one’s family who sometimes say things we don’t like, a deeply flawed analogy since we don’t choose our uncles, while we do choose where we worship. Senator Obama has claimed that he never heard his pastor speak as is now a matter of public record, an impossible assertion. Either he is lying, is in deep denial, is naïve, or he agrees with Wright’s views and dare not say so. None of those options are acceptable for a man who is aspiring to be the President of the Untied States.
Adding insult to injury, Senator Obama has the audacity to use the controversy over his church as a platform to address race in America as if to sound visionary. Most recently, the senator gave a much-hailed speech, “A More Perfect Union”. But his talk doesn’t matter, polished as it sounds. Senator Obama has quite a knack for taking an issue he is vulnerable on and twisting into an opportunity to preach his sermon and come off smelling like a rose. His words ring hollow in the face of his choices and actions. He has a bad track record.
And, if all of that wasn’t enough, the Democratic party may nominate for President a man who had a relationship with Bill Ayers, a person who, as a member of the terrorist group the Weatherman, built bombs that killed fellow Americans. Dangerous judgment.
Then there is Senator Obama’s admitted history of alcohol and cocaine abuse. Poor choices.
Throughout all of this, Senator Obama finesses his way, claiming innocence, naiveté, youthful indiscretion, or being “boneheaded”. How many times can Senator Obama admit he was foolish, naïve, and boneheaded before the rest of us realize we mustn’t be the same?
We dare not press these issues for fear of appearing racist, so we give the senator a pass or question him gingerly, all the while giving him free reign to address race in America as if only he can discuss it fairly.
And so it seems the Democratic party may nominate for President a man with a history of substance abuse, affiliations with terrorists, associations with slumlords who launder money to support their campaign, while proudly being a member of a church that espouses hateful, divisive views. Their candidate will likely be a man who often refers to himself as a “blank slate” or an “empty vessel” upon which voters can project their hopes and dreams, spoken as if such traits are a good thing.
In Obama, we cannot afford to have a person ill-prepared for the job, with a checkered history of poor judgment regarding the company he keeps, in the oval office. If so, it will be at our own expense and the price could be more devastating than anyone might imagine.
It’s 3am and the alarm clock is going off. Wake up America before we make a dreadful, dreadful mistake.
THE UNIVERSALITY OF THE “TRAINED EAR”
Barack Obama has talked of the “trained” and “untrained” ear in referring to blacks and whites and sensitivities to prejudice and injustice. I would suggest that blacks in America don’t hold the corner on the market of having this so-called trained ear that makes us sensitive to discrimination and injustice.
As a woman, my ear is trained to recognize disrespect and misogyny, expressed through comments made around the water cooler at the office to having one’s life threatened simply because you are female. Women across America are beaten on a daily basis. Some are killed. And it is estimated that one in three girls will be molested by the time she reaches the age of eighteen.
It was not so long ago in American history that women, along with blacks, were denied the right to vote. And, indeed, when blacks were given the right to vote, women were still left behind to wait for that same day for themselves.
And it was not so long ago that women could not attend universities across America, while many of the fairer sex were instituionalized against their will for literally no good reason.
I also know how to pick up on even the most subtle of cues regarding anti-Semitism, because I am a Jew. In my lifetime, we were denied access to universities, jobs, membership to community organizations, and such. And blatant and not-so-blatant discrimination continues to this day. I would offer Barack Obama’s church as an example.
And what of the poor person in the wealthy neighborhood, who knows by the way people look at them, comment about them, treat them, that they are not welcome, they do not belong? Or the aging person who has become invisible and can’t find work because they are discriminated against due to age? Or the family with a member who is mentally ill? What of the adult with a disability who receives stares and hears whispered comments, who struggles to find a job because of how they are perceived due to their disability or because the workplace is not set up to accommodate their needs?
Then there is the most powerless of all among us, our children, many of whom develop a trained ear at a very young age to alert them to great danger, danger that often lurks in the place they should be most safe: at home.
There is, of course, also a long history of anti-immigrant sentiments in America, with each group bearing the hateful judgment of those that came before: new immigrants don’t look like us, don’t talk our language, have different customs, and so forth. We have currently anointed as our most recent pariah those who are Muslim.
So what has all of this to do with Obama and his speech and his church and his very candidacy? Four things:
First, Obama presents of himself as a man of great integrity, above the fray. However, in his recent speech he tucked his Muslim father away, for Obama likely thought that in this anti-Muslim climate, that to address it openly and freely might be political suicide. So, along with “outing” his white grandmother as a racist, he shoved his Muslim father into a dark recess in the public’s mind. I see no visionary leadership, integrity, or bravery there. Instead, I see cowardice, shame, and more examples of poor judgment on his part.
Second, Obama’s holier than thou notion of the trained ear is something that we all have for some of the reasons cited in this piece. We’ve all sat around the kitchen table bemoaning our situation, raging against those we feel are our oppressors. We have all had a scarlet letter painted on our backs for one reason or another and work to live our lives despite the many ways that society would have us bend to be somehow lesser.
Third, Obama claims to be a unifier. However, by addressing this notion of a “trained ear”, he not only reinforced whatever divisions exist between blacks and white, he also negated the countless other groups who have no less of a claim to being treated as less than equal.
Fourth, and perhaps most importantly, Obama chose to attend a church that preached hate against whites, hate against Jews, hate against America. And now, against that backdrop of his life, he expects us to trust him to be a unifying candidate for President.
And as if that wasn’t enough, there is no evidence based on his track record in Congress that he has even the slightest big of experience to point to that would support his claims to be able to achieve the magical fantasy world that he so loves to paint.
My trained ear has heard all it needs: Barack Obama is a far cry from the minimum standard we should set for those who would be the leader of this land.

Well McCain released a new ad using words of the Democrats against Barack and words that praised McCain… so I think that ad will be very successful. It was excellent and even includes Clinton saying that McCain has experience while Barack just gives a speech.

I sat in on a supposed live conversation with Hillary on her blog today. What a scam! 12 questions were answered and countless more were evaded. It was heavily monitored by the Obama interest and any hint of the word Nobama or statements pointing out the blog showed no party unity or any direct answer to the question will Hillary’s name be placed in nomination was not allowed. It was an attempt to turn Hillary supporters to the dark side that just didn’t work.
I posted 6 times to the blog and each post was rejected.
The rally tomorrow in Henderson NV at Green Valley High School will be the same thing.
A NobamaNetwork.com representative is going to the rally and will be writing an article about the event and snapping camera phone pics. No signs or posters are allowed inside. I am hoping there will be people handing out flyers outside. It will be 105 degrees tomorrow, so maybe not.

The really cool thing about McCain’s strategy and Ads is McCain has been showing a sense of humor. I think people who aren’t PUMA’s are craving the sense of humor aspect since Obama is so oppressive. But they don’t know how to articulate that thought to put their finger on why they sense something is wrong with Obama. Clinton has made it clear that she is not considering formally fighting Sen. Barack Obama for the nomination in Denver later this month. But her supporters, some still riled from the close primary contest, have threatened to create at least a disturbance if she is not given enough respect, including, possibly, having her name entered into contention and the votes of her delegates read aloud.
At this point, it is as likely as not that Clinton will be formally nominated at the convention, individuals close to the negotiations said. Officials have firmly denied a report last week that Clinton had decided not to have her name put into the record. Advisers on both sides also said that relations between the two are improving; Clinton is scheduled to appear in Nevada for Obama later this week.
Details of how Obama’s campaign plans to stage the convention have still not been announced, but officials involved in the planning said they expect that Tuesday of that week – two nights before Obama officially accepts the nomination – will belong to Clinton. Her husband has not yet been invited to speak, and it is unclear whether he will appear at all.
The opening Monday night of the convention is expected to honor Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and his family. Obama will arrive late in the festivities, and will deliver his acceptance speech at a 75,000 seat Invesco Field, the outdoor stadium.used by the Denver Broncos.

“You’re running for president of the U.S., and you run down the country to a 7-year-old?” said an incredulous Limbaugh.
Limbaugh suggested someone should ask Obama to name the period when, in his opinion, America was as it should be.

I was thinking… what if Hillary and Bill’s support of OBugger is genuine?
Let me paint the scenario that came about in my head: I remember the Clinton years well. The prosperity brought about in America during Bill’s time in office is undeniable. No one can say they were without fault, but this country was better off thanks to their time in office. And yet the DNC has forsaken the Clintons in favor of an unqualified hack. The treatment the Clinton’s have received is simply appalling. So what if this is their revenge? To help ensure Barky gets elected so as to ram him down the DNC’s throats so to speak, letting the DNC be forced to live through the shame and misery and absolute shambles that the party will become? Perhaps they know he is ineligible under constitution, or perhaps they know that once Barky is officially crowned, the GOP has enough on him hang him out to dry. It’s almost a fun thought to think that their “support” is all for little more than to prove he is unelectable or if he is elected, to prove what a mistake it was. The Clinton’s are just too intelligent to believe Obambush is right for the country.

I think environmental issues are more advanced in Canada and obviously our health care system. This is probably because of the socialism in our government. On the other hand the mentality for young and not so young women to think having more kids means a larger social security cheque is very prominant here. Hi fellow Pumas!! This is my first time blogging but I’ve been reading and sending Prowls. You are my heroins and heros. In all my MANY years I’ve never seen a champaign quite like this one.. The past elections were bad enough- living in Fl, I’ve had a half vote and no vote- now a maybe vote so this silver Puma is ready to GROWL. We- ALL of Hillary’s supporters must do ‘whatever’ it takes – since our beloved Democratic Party(?) saw fit to ‘select’ THEIR candidate and shove her aside from the very beginning- to see that ,if not nominated, at least her 18 million + supporters will be heard and her great accomplishments go down in history. For the life of me I cannot understand why Senator Obama ( his nickname- Obama lama ding dong) is so reluctant to be a ‘gentleman’ and speak up in her defense, just allow her at least this ‘dignity.’ He CHOOSES not to do the very thing that just MIGHT unite the very people he wants to lead.. You can bet if the shoe was on the other foot- his people would be running through the streets DEMANDING he have the VP spot and the very best time slot for another ‘memoriable’ speech. But Hillary and her supporters aren’t ALLOWED to speak up about anything.. Well, guess again-’ this angry, bitter woman’ as OlDD called me, has had enough. Women have rocked the cradle, worked two jobs, raised the kids and kept the men ‘happy.’ So yes, we have more than enough to make us angry and bitter but the way he has allowed this campaign to be so blatantely fraudulant is beyond comprehension. We know the difference between right and wrong, what has been done in this campaign is WRONG. We won’t sit in a corner and keep our mouths shut this time. If OLDD thinks it’s difficult to be an AFRICAN- AMERICAN ‘walk a day in a woman’s shoes.’ My vote is mine and I won’t be told how to cast it. Nor do I have to be satisfied with the ‘CANDIDATE, this sheep follows the ‘bell sheep’ sorry Hillary but that’s you babe- and not the GOAT..We know who that is, right Pumas? I’ve been trying to do catch up on my reading… and came across several posts from the previous thread; and I am in total agreement with “wontbackdown” that the time is NOW to wage a full blown campaign and at the grass roots level requesting that Hillary Rodham Clinton UNSUSPEND her campaign. You need to go door to door and collect valid signatures with name, address and telephone numbers etc. You need to hit all the major groups that supported her during the primaries… unions, postal workers, teachers, nurses, women’s groups, etc. Walk in and collect signatures.
Start a petition drive.
Write to her office.
Call her office.
Send comment to her website.

Anyway, I look over at the Obama table with all their signs and voter reg forms and I see 6 really really young guys around the table. Then I look across the street and see a gathering of a group of adolescent boys with their scateboards in an empty parking lot. Then I look back over at the guys at the Obama table and I swear, it was just about impossible to distinguish the difference between the two groups. I thought, “forget it”, and just kept moving with my fliers to give to folks who looked at least like their age had been in the double digits for more than 1 year.

I have had a rotten day, and realize that we have all had some bad ones for the last 8 years. Once we get this crappy president out of office, I am determined that we WILL NOT REPLACE HIM WITH ANOTHER ONE THAT IS AS BAD OR WORSE.
I believe that Obama would be as bad as Bush, my kids say, Bush on Steroids. The problem is, Obama has a different idea of a new world order. He thinks he is a citizen of the world, i.e. going to be President of the World. This is as scary as the Bush who wanted to build nations in the middle east.
We need reasonable people running our country. We need people who are capable of going to work each day with competence and ability, seasoned and ready for whatever the world throws at them. When a candidate is so without purpose that a 7 year old’s question as to WHY he wanted to be president throws him for a loop, We should rethink our support of him.
The biggest story of this election season has not even begun to be told: That the world got a chance to see the corruption and graft in the American two party system up close. That the People are taking back their country, one vote at a time, that the people formed groups and worked at cleaning up the sewer that our nation’s political scene has become. That we are determined to scrub it clean with soap, water, and disinfectant, until we are sure we have a democracy again.

Perhaps “wontbackdown” can answer this better than I can, because she is a marketing expert. But when I was talking to her today, she said that it is still possible. She called off some numbers to me and also a date by which this should be done by. For example, if Murphy has 5,000 members and if each person got 100 signatures that would add up to 50,000 signatures. If they got 200 signatures it would increase to 100,000 signatures, etc. Multiply that the numbers of other website members and the number of others who may also wish to become involved and it COULD have a major impact. The numbers would grow proportionately. Multiply that by 50 states… and yeah, it could work, in my opionion. And if it doesn’t at least our coalition would have tried.
The point that “wontbackdown” was stressing to me today over the telephone is this: She needs a platform on which to suspend. It would give her the leverage she needs. She would not be doing it to hurt the party but to honor the wishes of her constituents. She would be dointg it for the Party so that they could win in November!
Personally, I just think it’s a good idea for her own legacy. For her now or in the future. We would be providing her with a contact list!

I checked on the Huffington Post site where you can type in the name and see how much they’ve donated and to which party. His real name comes up, but only notes a $250 donation to a local school project. I don’t know if the Huffington Post is a complete and definitive resource or not. If it is, then that’s that. But if it’s not I’d love to find out about this issue. (You know make the link between Obama having a supporter who calls Clinton an “insignificant bitch” in one of his latest tunes, while Clinton is out there working her ass off for BO.)

But on the really great notes… I enjoyed what Hucklebee was saying… and I loved the news that Pelosi’s book is not doing so hot. Only sold 5,000 copies which is not good. I work with a few publishing companies on many books (as a technical editor) and I can tell you that only selling 5,000 books will truly suck for her. Usually a publishing company will give you an advance paycheck on anticipated sales. And if you don’t live up to the numbers… you need to pay that money back to the publishing company.

My point—if it is small, then why is it news? Point 2–what powers does him have to count incoming emails, regardless of what or who they are about usless they are addressed to him?

Welcome and I truly agree about feeling a ton of excitement. But try not to pressure Clinton. I have total faith in her intelligence to know when to play her cards. She’s been in politics a long time and she knows how to hold back and pounce at the right time… just like us PUMA’s. I not only totally agree with the comment that BO is like Bush on steroids… but I personally like to state he’s like Bush on crack cocaine. I think he’ll turn this country into a dictatorship. Let’s break it down. He doesn’t value the voting process and has no problem stepping on the First amendment. He’s voted for FISA so he can set it up so that the Fourth Amendment is destroyed. He’s voted in this Global Poverty Act to set the stage for finding whatever excuse he wants to use taxpayer money to send large amounts of money to his radical friends in other countries. And I thought I also read somewhere that he is voting on something (or “has” voted on something already) that has language that sets the stage so that (as President) he can postpone future Presidential elections if he claims there’s a possible terrorist threat on this country (regardless if there really is or isn’t one). So essentially — he could stay President past the 8 year limit — indefinitely. I’m sure he’ll work on destroying all other checks and balances along the way if he succeeds to get into office.

If Keith Olberman thinks only 400 E mails were sent, he must just be talking about my family. Among us, we sent that many! When you add all of us up, there may have been 400 different efforts executed by the various groups, and some of them may not have received them yet.

Seriously speaking, radio interviews are the easiest & most fun. I speak from experience. I always advise “nervous nellies” to go for radio interviews because you can take your notes with you & nobody is the wiser.
Also, I advise them to smile when a reporter is on the phone, believe-it-or-not, it actually makes you sound friendlier.

Girl, I think we all know you are beyond supportive and dedicated to those of us south of the border!
Anyway, you’d be hard pressed to find many who would think the food choices across the mid-west to be anything even remotely close to what would be considered food for health! God, the first time I ever drove across the country I was shocked to find restaurant after restaurant that pretty much just served “chicken fried steak”. I didn’t even know what that was. Was it chicken? Was it steak? Who can tell?
I’m not a food snob, but it is really sad how a lot, if not most of the U.S. eat. …speaking of which I think I can smell that I’ve pretty much just burned my dinner (I’m the queen of overcooking – man, when I’m through with something, it’s cooked…any taste or nice texture has been pummeled out of it! It’s called the influence Jewish “cuisine”!)

This is what I don’t understand about this man: When he is here in America he wants to be called Barack (but not Hussein); but when he is visiting Kenya he wants to be called Barry, the name given to him by his mother and father. This begs the question what is his real name?
We also should be asking: Can a person with dual citizenship become the president of the United States? And that leads to the question: did he ever denounce his Kenyan citizenship? Furthermore I ask, what are Kenyan laws regarding citizenship? Do they emanate from the father even though the child was born overseas?

I think the significance of Bill Clinton speaking isn’t so much that he’ll tell us to vote for BO. I think the significance is that if Hillary has a speech one night and Bill has a speech another… that the convention will turn into being about the Clintons which becomes a threat to BO. BO won’t want that. He can’t stand it when it’s not all about him. I would love to hear a convention that’s all about the Clintons. Hope it happens.

Here is what I got, this was on 7/22:
She appreciates the support (of the online groups), she’s determined and she’s a fighter.
She wonders why no one in the media picked up on her choice of wording (“suspended” not “gave up”).
She feels good about Chelsea now. She felt bad before because of all the work Chelsea did. Now Chelsea reads these blogs & feels proud, happier and more encouraged.
She will make an announcement about her campaign funds. When, I asked. Well, it could come any time. But she hasn’t decided yet. She wants to feel safe in announcing it. She also wants people to continue to donate because she knows the more money the better.
She’s not worried about her nameon the rollcall as a nominee, but she likes that her supporters are doing the front end loading on it.
She’s a very well prepared person, and always has a “Plan B.”
She has a lot of passion for correcting, changing, fixing all the wrong things that were done under Bush.
“This will make her a better President than Obama.”

Where is back home?
The repair would have been a $600 repair with tune up and oil change, but, because it;s an RV (class B -small) there are complications. The line tha needs to be replaced is old and brittle (Hey! I resemble that remark!) and it’s between the chassis and teh black water holding tank.

Oh I would love to. But unfortunately my current situation isn’t flexible. A brief history about myself goes like this:
I was married to a military career man for 27 years. After my husband retired from the military and started a second career in civilian life — he seemed to loose it. He started to be abusive to our kids (verbally abusive to me) and I caught him in several affairs. So I told him I will continue to be his wife (cause the financial consequences of divorce scared me at the time) — but I also told him that since I caught him several affairs — that he obviously has proven he can’t be trusted. And if he doesn’t respect me enough to protect my body from diseases (since I want to live long enough to help my children as they go through life) — then I’M gonna take it on myself to respect me enough to protect me from diseases. So while I’ll still be his wife — I’ll cook for him, clean for him, listen to his stories when he comes home from work, and do laundry for him — but I will NOT sleep with him.
This didn’t go over too well. At first I think he thought I didn’t mean it. Kind of like how BO thinks we won’t really vote for McCain.
When he discovered I did really mean it — he started threatening me with divorce cause he knew that thought was intimidating. But I tried not to show him that he succeeded in that intimidation. I not only told him to make sure the door didn’t hit him on the way out… I even got a lawyer and had him file a motion to ensure he did actually leave. After a while — he became sooo mean that his threats stop scaring me. I think I started to get more scared that he would stay. LOL!
Now while I’m totally happy to be divorced… and it did work out to be the best thing he ever did for me… I do have financial consequences that I face every day. At the age of 52 — I had to start looking for a job and/or career. I’m proud of what I did accomplish in a short period of time…. but in order to make ends meet… I work two jobs. I have an 8-5 job on the weekdays… and at night and weekends — I do tech editing for publishing companies.
Actually — I’ve been very distracted at both jobs lately cause I constantly want to keep up with the PUMA news. This is historical… what is happening here. In a way… I feel like my divorce story and my efforts in finding work has helped me to identify with the injustices I’ve witnessed with HRC’s campaign. And dammit… BO and my ex-husband have a lot in common… I can’t stand them both.
So I guess I am one of those angry white gun toting bible carrying women the BO camp fears.
And to get back to your original question… not only can I not afford the Denver trip… but don’t know if I could get away from my work to go. But my heart will be there and I would LOVE to meet all of you.
You have to ask yourself. What are the odds that all the Democratic party leaders and big wigs like Bill Clinton would endorse the same incompetent man. It boggles all logical thought.
Well, I’ll believe there truly is party unity if the Democrats remain “united” after they lose in November.

You’ll be asked for your basic Contact Number, how you plan to get to Denver, and where you plan to stay during the Convention.
Step Two: NotificationStarting on August 12th, your local Campaign for Change office will notify you via email or text message if you have been selected to receive a community credential. You’ll find out when and where to pick up your credential, and you’ll need to verify your travel arrangements. If you are not selected to receive a community credential, you’ll remain on a waiting list in case more spaces become available.
Step Three: Pick up your credentialYou’ll need to present a valid photo ID when you pick up your credential at your local Campaign for Change distribution center. Once you’ve received a credential, you will need to activate it through an online, in-person, or phone activation process. Credentials must be activated by August 19th.
Step Four: Come to DenverWhen you arrive at INVESCO Field at Mile High on Thursday, August 28th, you will need your activated community credential to pass through a security checkpoint. Please note: Community Credentials are valid on Thursday, August 28th. The above information does not apply to Convention delegates, alternate delegates, pages or guests credentialed for the Pepsi Center, as these individuals will be credentialed in the same way for INVESCO Field at Mile High.
Step Five: Make sure to arrive at Invesco field in enough time to have your O’brownshirt uniform fitted and issued. Once you have your uniform, you will be seated in an appropriate area to worship the King while he delivers his greatest teleprompter speech to date.
After this, you will be scheduled for training at one of our exclusive Obama for America Retraining Camps located in every major US City.
Step Six: Once you return to your hometown, you will be contacted by Obama Storm Troopers who will make arrangements to have you identify all of your neighbors who do not support Obama. They will then be scheduled for retraining/relocation in accordance with the Obama Master Plan.
If for any reason, you fail to comply with step one through six, you will be re-designated as a possible Puma and sent to Obama Fellows Camp for interrogation.

Newfoundland, Canada’s most easterly province, it’s an island and sadly many Canadians do not know where it is and its a very large island, takes about 12 hours to drive across.
It’s beautiful there, no smog , temps average about 24C in the summer, -35 or so in the winter. Lots of wildlife, selas, whales, polar bears, foxes. all the land animals were brought in by the government, we don’t have snakes there thank god.
I’m going to send you a website so you can see the natural beauty of the place, when you get a chance to look at it.
Unfortunately the economy went through a rough patch these past 10 years or so, hopefully it is on its way back up again.

Tennessee Primary Gets Nasty
Looking for the nastiest Democratic primary in the country this cycle? The contest between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama may have been heated, but it was nothing compared to the battle underway right now in Memphis.
Voters in Tennessee’s 9th district go to the polls today to determine whether freshman Rep. Steve Cohen or attorney Nikki Tinker will be the Democratic nominee in the fall. Cohen, who is Jewish, defeated the African-American Tinker in 2006 in the majority-black district. And the rematch has been heavily focused on issues of race, gender and even religion.
Tinker’s last two TV ads have been particularly rough. In a spot released earlier this week, a black local former county commissioner criticizes Cohen for not supporting the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, an early leader of the Ku Klux Klan. The ad includes images of a hooded Klan leader and a burning cross.
And Tinker’s most recent ad accuses Cohen of voting against allowing children to pray in schools — a charge his campaign denies — even “while he’s in OUR churches slapping hands and tapping his feet.” Is the “OUR churches” line a reference to Cohen being Jewish? It’s not exactly clear, nor is it clear whether Tinker’s late attacks will do her campaign any good.
“I would be surprised to see Nikki Tinker win,” said David Wasserman, the House editor for the Cook Political Report. “The final ads of this race seem more like a Hail Mary than a long, well-thought out plan of attack.”
Wasserman added that “usually ads as immediately acerbic as these do not play well,” but that Tinker faces a dilemma: She can’t really campaign on the need for “change,” because Cohen’s only been in Congress for two years.
The contest has divided Democrats in both Washington and Memphis. Tinker has been supported by a handful of black lawmakers and received a check from the Congressional Black Caucus political action committee. She also got the endorsement of EMILY’s List, which prompted Cohen to tout his own longtime support of abortion rights and accuse the group of making its pick based on race and gender rather than legislative record.
And while Cohen might be feeling some pressure — he allegedly shoved a cameraman Wednesday — he has received some significant support lately that may help, including a $5,000 check this week from the liberal group Moveon.org’s PAC. He has also gotten endorsements from some prominent black House members, including House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), who gave his blessing for Cohen’s resolution apologizing for slavery and segregation to reach the House floor last week. Will that accomplishment, and Cohen’s overall record, allow him to remain the only current white lawmaker to represent a majority-black district? We’ll know by Thursday night.

Sounds idyllic in many ways!
In 6th grade we spent 1/2 of the school year studying Canada, with a “term paper” due at the end of the module. My paper was on Nova Scotia. Don’t know why I’m telling you this, except that “eastern Canada” reminded me. I’m originally from NYC (Manhattan).

Since the passage of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act in 1952, the federal government has had the power to lease the underwater terrain extending for 200 miles beyond the states’ jurisdiction of three miles. Energy companies have explored and leased only some of these lands since that time to drill for fossil fuels. Due to environmental concerns, however, Congress limited energy exploitation of the outer continental shelf to clearly defined areas in the Gulf of Mexico and off Alaska’s coast, affirming a moratorium on the expansion of drilling outside those areas every year between 1982 and 2006. President George H.W. Bush supported this moratorium, ordering its extension until the year 2000, and President Clinton extended that order through 2012. Throughout my Senate tenure, I have opposed efforts to lift these moratoria on drilling outside of limited areas off Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico.
We need a sensible, comprehensive new energy policy that steers us away from traditional fossil fuels and toward energy independence. Like you, I am deeply concerned about record-high energy prices and our continuing dependence on foreign oil, and I favor bringing more American sources of petroleum and natural gas to market in order to keep the cost of gasoline and energy-intensive products like fertilizer down. At the end of the 109th Congress, a bill to open additional drilling in the Gulf of Mexico was attached to must-pass legislation and passed into law. While I voted for this legislation because it included provisions crucial to Washington’s working families, such as deductions for state sales tax, I remain concerned that the oil drilling provisions largely benefited a few states rather than the national treasury by providing 37.5% of revenues from new leasing to nearby Gulf Coast states.
Please know that as we move forward in the 110th Congress I will continue to work to see that our country achieves energy independence. The president of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association has sent a blistering letter to Barack Obama castigating him for a remark he made that the organization says equates its members with “terrorists.”
Speaking at the National Council of La Raza convention in San Diego on July 13, Obama told the largely Hispanic audience that the nation’s immigration system “isn’t working.” According to Obama, the problem with the system is that “communities are terrorized by ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] immigration raids” and “nursing mothers are torn from their babies.”
The letter from the Association’s National President Art Gordon states: “On behalf of the 26,000 members of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), I take great exception to your disparaging remark, ‘…communities are terrorized by ICE immigration raids.’
“While the dedicated men and women of ICE endeavor to carry out their dangerous and noble missions, you somehow felt compelled to characterize their efforts as something akin to terrorizing…
“It’s one thing to remark intelligently on the need for immigration reform, but it’s quite another to berate ICE law enforcement officers who are risking their lives to enforce the laws passed by Congress.”
Charging that Obama and his fellow members of Congress have not passed any “meaningful legislations” on immigration reform, Gordon goes on to say: “Your bi-partisan fumble should not translate into labeling our members as terrorists by implication…
“ICE employs patriotic men and women who are outstanding law enforcement officers, not rampaging home-wreckers.”
Gordon concludes by inviting Obama to meet with FLEOA officers, saying he would come away with an understanding “that those carrying the ICE shield are heroes, and not terrorists.”

Yes, but there was a moratoreum on the fishery because the foreign trawlers depleted the cod, so the fisherman were given the option to sell their commercial licences back to the federal government in return for subsidies and re-education. which was stupid as many of these fisherman could not read and write, they worked on the boats from age 9 upward. So they ended up becoming trademen, but many of them moved and towns shut down, very sad.
It’s only been the past 5 years or so that the fishery reopened, but it has tighter controls now and the trawlers are not allowed in beyond the 200 mile limit, which is a good thing.

So Cosmeta, where did a young Barack Obama get the funds to attend such an expensive and prestigious university like Harvard? Doesn’t sound like his parents ever had that kind of money.

Several years ago a book came out called COD: THE FISH THAT CHANGED THE WORLD. The author was being interviewed on NPR and it was captivating! If anyone would have told me that listening to someone talk about cod for an hour would be spell binding, I wouldn’t have believed them.
That whole fishing industry and life seems so intense and really really hard. It seems like a culture all unto itself. And so many men die out at sea, it’s unbelievable.

Obama went to Punahou which is the most exclusive private school in Hawaii. Not that he didn’t get some kind of financial aid…but he was absolutely among the most influential groups on the island.
I think research into Obama’s grandparents is reasonable given the fact that they raised him from age 10 to age 18 and beyond.

I worked in northern Newfoundland on an archaeology dig for a few years after university. It was a small shrimp fishing town. The realities of small town fishing outports really became obvious to me then.
There were two cousins on the dig with us and their fathers owned a boat together. One day a storm came up and capsized the boat, they drowned with their crew. The oldest sons from the two families went out to seach for their fathers. The storm circled around and they died also.
That’s how it is back home, the fishing industry is a family affair and can be glorious and tragic.

Ok, I ‘m glad you’ll be able to make it. I wish we had a place on this site to coordinate efforts to get pumas to Denver. I also grew up poor and understand that reflex.
I know BO went to Occidental college in Southern Ca before transferring to Columbia. It is a private school with a hefty price tag-over 45 grand with room and board-a year, so I don’t buy that poor, pitiful me crap either.

Yes Anna, there are a few closet PUMA but they are hard to find. Many female professors. We all get the major stink eye that we support Hillary. One of my best friends there is still on my case about Hillary. She asked me if I was going to Denver to support *61, I looked at her and said, Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
She said, well you are going to vote for him aren’t you? I said I was working and planning to vote for the person I think deserves it and whom I have always supported. For some reason she thinks I will finally come to my senses. This is someone I really like and have been friends with for years.

On a road trip. Listeneing to Fox radio. Someone from PUMA had just been interviewed and stated he would go McCain. I got tail end of it. Then they interviewd Govenor of Iowa. Said we would fall in line because of Supreme Court and health care. Also when asked about Bill Clinton he said something like…Bill will do what he is told to do. Now we were traveling, my husband was on phone so almost positive it was govenor. I had NO bama posted on my windows and left flyers along the way.

Wow, I know where that is. I have been connected with Berkeley in one way or another since I was right out of college. Usually it’s a great place politically. I can put a photo of Bush up with a target on his shirt, and never get a rude remark.
My Hillary buttons on my desk get a lot of looks and silence. No one that doesn’t know me well dares say anything negative. They all know I am going to the convention, that I do not support Obama, and they all sort of back off from me about it. Actually you would think I was supporting lepers. Something that has really bugged me and got no notice from the press…ok not so unusual..
In Nancy Pelosi’s interview with Greta, she said Obama was sensitive to the issues many woman face because he was raised by a single mother….
No he wasn’t!!! He was not raised by his mother!! He was raised by his grandparents in Hawaii during most of his formative years.
As a single mother, I find this insulting at many levels. First, we don’t all stuggle and we aren’t all looking for rescue from some horrible fate.
My child’s other parent is a highly credentialed professional who loves our child, and I’ve done just fine even in the midst of some challenges.
To suggest that Obama is at all sensitive to the issues of concern to woman by referencing the stereotypical single mother is false logical and insulting to many women who do just fine as single parents…and who aren’t buying a bill of goods from a con man.

I will agree that there might be gaps in my understanding of certain facts and my apologies if I have offended you. Let me say in my defense that I’ve been extremely frustrated at watching this democratic process unfold and have seen many signs that it has been anything “but” a normal “democratic” process.
Furthermore, I’ve experienced further frustration in attempting to voice my concerns. I’ve been accused of being a racist for merely voicing concerns about the qualifications of a candidate. And I can assure you that none of these concerns have anything to do with race but everything to do with a vast lack of character and good judgement on the candidate’s part.
I’ve been accused of being a whining, angry, uneducated, gun toting woman, by the media, who like to further declare that I will eventually “Fall in Line.” The implication being that I don’t really have unique thoughts of my own and that I’m mindless enough to follow the leader regardless of the path he plans to lead us on. I for one think it’s a dangerous path and cannot support (nor follow) him.
So if what you say is true and you really are an admirer of Senator Clinton — my apologies for implying anything less. To do so would make me as guilty as the ones that have frustrated me when they are quick to make assumptions. I will make you a deal and try to keep an open mind about your intentions. I merely want to see an open and fair nomination process because I feel the people of this great nation (myself included) deserve nothing less. It’s what we have come to expect and I fear this process is only one of many that are in danger under the pressures of the Obama campaign machine.
I’ve witnessed events in which I’ve received intentional misinformation from the DNC as well as from many representatives that I’ve been naive enough to believe are people that are supposed to “represent” their constituents.
That said — I am not trying to insult nor upset you sir. I took your words (in this email) to heart… and realize you may be facing pressures from forces other then myself. So on that note — I will not bother you again — but rest assure — I will be watching the decisions that are made at the convention very closely. And I just hope you will choose wisely as a participant in that process. We all have the ability to choose and there’s always choices. We’re never limited to just one course of action. With this in mind — our democratic process should reflect that idea in that we’re not limited to only one choice of who to vote for. There are profound differences in these candidates. I believe we deserve a choice.

I’m a DNC pledged delegate for Obama. Your recent PUMA PAC musings piqued my interest, if only because I do sort of have a metric on how big the PUMA people are as a movement. About a month ago I woke up and took a look at my e-mail and instead of seeing few new e-mails in the morning I saw more than three hundred.
PUMA released the e-mail addresses of the delegates to their supporters and asked them to e-mail us with a form letter. I’m sure you’ve seen the letter (if not, it’s pasted in below), but since I set up a filter to direct every e-mail with “PUMA” in it to a folder on my Outlook, I can tell you that about a month after their letter-writing campaign began (I don’t get many more these days), I received a total of 404 messages.
Given that their entire raison d’etre is getting delegates to vote otherwise, this makes me think the PUMA movement is actually quite small, even if it is quite good at getting press. PUMA will surely stage something at the convention, but if they can only get 404 people to send e-mails, I’m not sure how many they can get to fly to Denver and make an impressive scene.
Anecdotally, I would add that my interactions with the many Clinton delegates over Facebook and in person has been uniformly positive.

there is a site called SKY AUCTION..I have used it for flying to Argentina. You can get really good deals there. you bid for the ticket. And sometimes they offer up to five tickets for one price. The thing that is good about it, is you can pick the dates..But I think a large percent of the flights originate from NY AND MIAMI.. But I dont think all of them.

I’ve been trying to do catch up on my reading… and came across several posts from the previous thread; and I am in total agreement with “wontbackdown” that the time is NOW to wage a full blown campaign and at the grass roots level requesting that Hillary Rodham Clinton UNSUSPEND her campaign. You need to go door to door and collect valid signatures with name, address and telephone numbers etc. You need to hit all the major groups that supported her during the primaries… unions, postal workers, teachers, nurses, women’s groups, etc. Walk in and collect signatures.

Use the option that says “Flexible Dates”. I was really surprised at some of the prices I got. I once wanted to go see my kids during their easter break that was less than a week away. All I could find was tickets for 500 plus. Did the flexible thing and got tickets just below 200 including tax.

It became clear to us earlier today, after a few interviews and interview requests, that the press wanted to specifically highlight the “NObama” aspect of the coalition and weave a narrative of a “showdown”. We believe the press seeks to employ this tactic in an effort to continue their wholly innacurate portrayal of all of us who continue to support Senator Clinton as “angry and disgruntled”.
We also feared that the mischaracterization of our efforts’ platform as anything other than positive and 100% pro-Hillary would be employed to frighten people away from attending the events in Denver and nationwide by suggesting that the events would likely degrade into violence instigated by counter-protesters.
Rather than report accurately to the public that the 18 Million Voices actions were being organized SOLELY to celebrate and honor Senator Clinton and bring all of her supporters together in a positive, peaceful manner, the press wants to instead weave the narrative around a “conflict” taking place in Denver between Clinton and Obama supporters. Given these developments, we made the difficult decision to request that our link be removed from the coalition site in order to insure the success of our actions and the safety of our participants.
We do hope you all understand why we made this decision. It has been our sincere pleasure to communicate with all of the different coalition members these past months, and we do hope the lines of communication will remain open between us and all of the groups we have relationships with, and, we wish everyone tremendous success in their ongoing efforts to support Senator Clinton.

Those flying to Denver… make your tickets 2 weeks in advance to get WAY cheaper prices. REMEMBER the two WEEKS advance or you will pay a LOT more. Most are non refundable (cheapest). If you make it a refundable ticket, it would be more expensive.
Jet Blue can be in-expensive – if you don’t add anything as they charge for everything extra. They have comfy seats and personal TV. I don’t fly them much – my seriously spoilt husband likes Business class (oh, my dog Fred too) and Jet Blue has only one class but you can pay $20 or so for more leg room. When I travel by my self I go coach – it is crazy cheaper.

Normally I use travelocity / orbitz etc to find the airline and the cost. Then I go directly to the airline and see if it is comparable. Travelocity / Orbitz charge a service fee – they have to make money.
If anyone has an American Express Platinum card, you are allowed 4 free economy tickets a year. Stupid me, downgraded it two months ago because i don’t use it and the membership is almost $400. Which brings me to another idea. Just sign up for it and get the 4 tickets to split among other PUMAs. it would be worth it – i think.
I will see if I can get my card re-instated and get the free tickets.

Wonder if your stepfather and I crossed paths? Husband and I did postdoc work at Chemical Biodynamics (later the Melvin Calvin lab) early to late seventies. The lab was part of the Lawrence Berkeley lab.
Husband lived on Alcatraz and I lived 1 block from University – cannot remember the name of the road! Loved being in Berkeley – such a blast.
