McCain Camp Response to Obama’s Ad “Pocket”
ARLINGTON, VA – Today, McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds issued the following statement on Barack Obama’s latest ad – “Pocket”:

“Barack Obama’s latest negative attack ad shows his celebrity is matched only by his hypocrisy, after all it was Senator Obama, not John McCain, who voted for the Bush-Cheney energy bill that was a sweetheart deal for oil companies. Also not mentioned is the $400,000 from big oil contributors that Barack Obama has already pocketed in this election.”

I have called Hillary’s campaign office. I also faxed. I also sent a letter snail mail to Bill Clinton. I called and wrote Evan Bayh, letting him know, if he accepts VP for obie, I as and Indiana resident will not vote for him in the election in November, if in fact Hillary does not get the nom.

TIPS for writing ‘LETTERS TO THE EDITOR’ in newspapers
How to write & edit effective letters that will get published
———————————-

• Be Concise, brief. Avoid rambling sentences & big words.

• State Your Point or argument early, clearly & succinctly; in letter’s intro.
Start with– and maintain focus on– your most important point.

• Stick to a single subject & stay on it. One issue per letter.

• Limit the number of points. Don’t rehash points.

• Be logically organized.

• Limit it to 2 to 5 paragraphs; each one 2 to 3 sentences.

• 200 words is usual limit. Keep to it! The more they have to edit, the less control you have of what gets printed.

• Let your personality show.

• No personal attacks!

• A hint of restrained anger or humor or irony can be effective sometimes.

• Know your subject; do research. Use facts, figures and expert testimony when you can. Readers respect the opinions of those w/special knowledge & expertise.

• Explain how the issue will affect your subject (ie: voters, the country, our future, a certain group of people, etc, etc).

• Identify the responsible person (the decision maker, elected official, etc).

• Offer a solution (RE: your criticism, argument, etc).

• Include phone numbers or address of who to contact (for action, etc… if relevant).

• See it from reader’s perspective. Will it all make sense to someone without your knowledge & background.

• Close with a short restatement of your position or a pithy comment.

• Read letter to a friend, for objective input.
Don’t mail it the same day you write it.
Write and edit it; then put it aside until next day.
Reread it in a fresh light & you’ll spot things you didn’t see before.

• Know that your letter may be edited for length, content & readability.

• Hone your opinion-letter writing style.
Learn the newspaper’s style and audience.
Read other ‘Letters to the Editor’ in different papers to learn.

Definitely gotta give Murphy credit for commitment and perseverance! I’ll stick with it until I absolutely know that Hillary is not our candidate for POTUS. But I do not and cannot and will not support BO’s proposals and platform, for the Democrat Party, and I will never vote for him under ANY circumstances.

Got left downstairs with the answer to :

#625 mzebest, #626 mimi1020

As much as I despise BO, in the interest of truth, I offer the following :

His statement is referring to the 50 states and six U.S. Territories and Outlying Areas as seen on the following government site. So it’s not clear due to his poor use of the English language, however it does seem to refer to both states and territories. That does not, however, explain why he has previously referred to the 57 states in speeches with no mention whatsoever to territories etc.

A little bird whispered I should look at Hillary’s web page today. Did you guys see this letter from Obama to the Credentials Committee?? Posted on HRC’s site?

I can’t blog right now, but will BBL!

Please read & comment!!! Wow I think this is Great News!!!

~~~
Letter from Senator Obama to the Chairs of the Committee
Hon. Alexis Herman
1333 H Street, NW
Washington, DC 20005
James Roosevelt, Jr.
14 Meadow Way
Cambridge, MA 02138
Eliseo Roques-Arroyo
PO Box 190998
San Juan, PR 00919
Dear Credentials Committee Chairs:
In just a few weeks, our Party will convene in Denver for our National Convention. This will be an historic event that will showcase our vision for changing the direction of our country.
The delegates and alternates who gather on Monday, August 25 will reflect the talent, energy and rich diversity of our Democratic Party. The delegates will come from all 56 states and territories. As these delegates go about the important business of the Convention, I believe Party unity calls for the delegates from Florida and Michigan to be able to participate fully alongside the delegates from the other states and territories. Accordingly, I ask that the Credentials Committee, when it meets on August 24 to approve the delegates for the National Convention, pass a resolution that would entitle each delegate from Florida and Michigan to cast a full vote.
As a candidate for the nomination, I supported the DNC’s efforts to establish and enforce a schedule for primaries and caucuses that would broaden the opportunity for Democrats from all regions of the country and all backgrounds and walks of life to have a meaningful voice. An unprecedented number of voters participated in our Democratic nominating process. We all owe a debt of gratitude to Governor Dean for his principled leadership during this long and challenging process.
As we prepare to come together in Denver, however, we must be – and will be – united in our determination to change the course of our nation. To that end, Democrats in Florida and Michigan must know that they are full partners and colleagues in our historic mission to reshape Washington and lead our country in a new direction.
With warmest personal regards,
Barack Obama
Trish had a good idea today, but can’t remember what it was..something about finding out more info on the delegates.
#38 mlhath on 08.04.08 at 2:45 pm
I so want Hillary to be the Dem nominee. If she was, I would have no doubt that she would be Pres.
However, I am also pragmatic. I have called, emailed, faxed, registered voters, canvassed etc. all in the name of Hillary Clinton. But if her run for 2008 ends in Denver, I will continue on. As I know she will, in her own way.
For me, saying this movement is mainly for getting Hillary on the ballot is not enough. At this point, that’s like saying the civil rights movement was only about Rosa Parks.
There is so much more. And Hillary can only do so much. I will still push for a reform of the DNC. That means an end to caucuses. I will still protest mysogyny wherever I experience it, but particularly within the public sector including the political process and MSM. And I will still work for the truly democratic principle of one person/one vote.
And after defeating Obama, I will vote for Hillary in 2012.
#39 hillstheone on 08.04.08 at 2:46 pm
ladyhawkee:
yes but who cares what he tries to do or cover up, point being if each delegate gets a full vote that is huge!!
Just got this in my email.
*********Press Release*********
F.Y.I. — Here’s something different. TheCityEdition.com has just
published an “Election ’08 Rogues Gallery of American Journalism”, a
Who’s Who of bad boys and bad girls at the top (and bottom) of the
media food chain.
The gallery features mug shots and cheap shots from some of the
country’s top newscasters, along with a series of thumbnail sketches
that suggest evidence of a conspiracy to sabotage Sen. Hillary
Clinton’s presidential campaign.
According to the Gallery introduction, “The journalists helped to
perpetrate a fraud, betraying the public trust and depriving the
nation of one of its most competent leaders since F.D.R. Here’s a list
of some you can thank for keeping her name off the November ballot.”
Not surprisingly, NBC/MSNBC dominates the list of Rogues Gallery
inductees. Chris Matthews and David Shuster are cited for making
controversial, at times misogynist remarks about Clinton. (Matthews
referred to her as a “she-devil”.) Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams
is accused of faking a “spiritual epiphany” in his coverage of the
Obama campaign on the eve before the New Hampshire primary. During
the same broadcast, reporter Andrea Mitchell claimed that Clinton’s
campaign was collapsing. She repeated the allegation on the eve of
several subsequent primaries. Yet Clinton won New Hampshire by three
points and went on to compete in all the subsequent contests, winning
big on Super Tuesday and carrying 9 of the last 13 primaries.
Other networks honored with inclusion in the gallery are CBS (Katie
Couric, Steve Kroft), ABC (Jake Tapper, Barbara Walters and the other
ladies of The View) CNN (Anderson Cooper, Jack Cafferty, John King and
Jessica Yellin) and Fox (Bill O’Reilly and Major Garrett). Print
reporters represented are the New York Times editorial board, Time
Magazine’s Mark Halperin, and Newsweek’s Eleanor Clift and Joe Klein.
According to the website, Klein remarked to CNN’s Campbell Brown last
spring that the only way Clinton would drop out of the race would be
if someone “exploded an IED under her car”.
Even Ms. Magazine failed the fair and balanced test,
TheCityEdition.com alleges. The feminist publication did not a run a
single story about Clinton’s historic candidacy for president,
although it did find room for two articles by Donna Brazile, the
Democratic Party official accused of manipulating the primary schedule
to deprive Clinton of delegates in Florida and Michigan.
their F.C.C. licensing agreements and/or anti-trust laws in connection
to their election coverage. The inititative is ongoing.
Left this comment on Washington Independent article:
I knew he wasn’t divine a LONG TIME ago… I must admit that I was not a Hillary Clinton supporter from the start… seems that I was influenced by the press and their dirty dealings in the beginning… I was not an Obama supporter either… John Edwards was my choice. Well the field was cleared and Hillary and Obama were the choices. I found myself in a quandry and wondered which o ne? I started doing my research and found that the press was so gung ho on Obama that the hairs on my neck stood up as a warning… hmmmmmmm … every time I did not listen to that little voice I got in trouble… so, wow…. YouTube became such a big deal that the press had to report the Rev. Wright issue… oh boy, now I knew why I had the hair on the back of my head stood up. I knew that I was listening to a politician who had learned over 20 years how to sway people to his point of view. I was right… a politician with emotional appeal and nothing else… Change… what change? Never any substance to his speeches. No knowledge of how to make the changes. I cannot and will not support Obama…
I am proud to a PUMA and I am proud of Hillary Clinton and her courage in the face of the sexist and biased Main Stream Media. I have stopped watching CNN as a result of Wolfe Blitzer and Donna Brazile, esp. her race baiting ways and their calling for her to leave the race before all the votes were counted. I deplore MSNBC and their sexist and mysogenist commentators.
When will this country come to its senses and see what is really happening… probably when enough of us PUMA’s point it out to them. They will never silence the voices of the people… we are the backbone of America.
As one eloquent black woman wrote on one of the other blogs (she is a disinfranchised voter from Michigan): My roots are not in Africa, my ancestors were, my neighbors roots are not in Europe, their ancestors where, my roots are in America. I am a person of color, but I am a American I am not an African and make no mistake my loyalties lie with America Rev. Wright. I do not wish to separate myself nor my family from America I do not wish to see a black America and white America and yellow America and brown America.
I AM AN AMERICAN!!!! I am a PUMA!!!! and I am proud to scream both those phrases
CHALLENGE:
I challenge myself and anyone else between now and the convention to:
1. Remain focused solely on activities that are directly related to the convention.
2. Refrain from getting distracted by posts unrelated to actions pertaining to the convention.
3. Remain positive and focused on our efforts.
If I can do it, anyone can because I am an eternally pessimistic, anxiety-ridden, fearful, worry wart who sometimes thinks that if I stay positive I’m just setting myself up for a crash and/or am just being pollyanna.
BUT, when atheletes and artists train, the psychological training is powerful. You focus only, only, only on your performance, be it shooting the ball into the basket, playing the cello piece perfectly, etc, and nothing else. You block out all else from your mind. This is a proven strategy that maximizes performance outcomes. It doesn’t mean that we can WILL what we want to happen at the convention to happen, but it means we can train ourselves to remain singularly focused and will not be distracted.
i AM PLANNING ON ATTENDING
#68 maxgrader on 08.04.08 at 3:16 pm
Because of Pelosi’s bullheaded action to adjourn the House of Reps without doing a damn thing about the energy relief we need I shall, then, relieve myself (uh, right) with these money saving ideas:
1. Stop payments on my car insurance
2. Park the van as an unregistered vehicle and shift to my museum beauty of only 30,000 miles with roll-down windows– a 1998 Ford Escort . Impliment fake stickers to save more money (I used to do that for years when I was young and poor and daring. I may be 54 and retired now… but still find excitement in life by daring it). Van used as a back-up. Will dare to use it if necessary.
3. Eat beans, rice and chicken livers more often and less sirloin and salmon. No more brand names either like Fruity Pebbles and Starkist; generic products instead. Definitely no more wine.
3. An occasional meal at a fine restaurant is still okay, but without a beverage. Free water, please. That’s better.
5. Go back to the good old days by hand washing my clothes and hanging them out to dry on a clothes line in the back yard. That’s going to be soooooo cool again. Get to meet the neighbors that way.
6. No I won’t get rid of the cat
7. Will withdraw my marriage proposal to a beautiful young woman I met recently.
8. Buy toilet paper in bulk. Have added a Sears catalogue to my bathroom cabinet for emergencies.
9. No more donations to Hillary Clinton’s party (wait I’ve already done that one). Umm, make that… will demand my money back with a bow and arrow, OR ELSE.
10. Window shop for kicks. Go malling only with coupons.
11. Don’t tell cashier she gave me the wrong amount of change in my favor.
There. It’s a start.
Just goes to show you… who needs government when you’ve got a mind like mine.
Goodbye, Ms. Pelosi. And don’t bother coming back. I don’t need good for nothings like you.
–Kent
For a quick preview – the original COLB used to create the KOS COLB image belongs to a female and does not belong to Obama. Another follow up report will reveal exactly who the original underlying COLB did belong to. Trust me when I tell you it is going to be one hell of a major twist that no one would have seen coming. I had to quadruple check my results because I did not even believe it and I currently have a few other people double and triple checking my results as well just to be 100% sure.
That said, and in the interest of fairness, if the people responsible for forging the COLB come forward and admit their liability the name of the original COLB owner will not be released publicly. It is only fair to give the guilty parties a chance to take responsibility for their actions before it embarrasses a lot of people and ruins some people’s reputations.
As a heads up to the guilty parties – the names and dates have already been restored – as has the fact the owner is a female born in the 70’s. That is all that will be revealed publicly for now. Besides if I turn up in a ditch someplace the information is already in a few 3rd party hands and they will just release it in my place.
If anyone still believes the KOS COLB is legitimate after reading this article they should seriously think about seeking professional help.
I’m not sure what the intent of your question is, but my answer is we will determine what is left of the Dem Party after the GE. If Bo wins in August, what each person does with their vote is up to them. Regardless of that, the Delegaes, SD’s and elected officials must be held accountable for everything we see today, sexism, reverse racism, bribary and more.
if bmw’s not african american i think making the case for why many african americans think he is a fraud could be tricky. one thought that comes to mind: bmw gets asked if he’s african american. if he’s not and then says, “no”, he could be challenged as to how he is some kind of expert on this issue. (i may be projecting after having a somewhat confrontational experience when i called into a show and got on the air. you have to be ready to think on your feet and be prepared for anything – having your comment relatively ignored or having it really explored).
just my two cents, or as dances would say, 7 cents after being adjusted for inflation!
bmw – i really hope they take your call. getting this kind of exposure is fantastic! there are so many listeners!
i posted several days ago that i think this is a good thing to do – getting your call on a show because of the amount of exposure (but you really have to have your act together since you have precious few seconds to make you case). but you’d be amazed how well you can find subject matter that’s not directly about the election but that you can link to it. health care, for example, is talked about a lot on npr and other shows where folks can call in. it’s a perfect example of how, if your call is taken, you can squeeze in the point of why and how clinton’s plan is so needed, etc.
FYI
Palestinians donate $29,500 to Obama
August 4, 2008
By Aaron Klein
WND – Palestinian brothers inside the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip are listed in government election filings as having donated $29,521.54 to Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign.
The donations would violate election laws, including prohibitions on receiving donations from foreigners and guidelines against accepting more than $2,300 from one individual during a single election, Bob Biersack, a spokesman for the Federal Election Commission, told WND in response to a query.
The contributions also raise numerous questions about the Obama campaign’s lax online donation form, which apparently allows for the possibility of foreign contributions.
Last week, the Atlas Shrugs blog outlined a series of donations in 2007 made to Obama’s campaign from two individuals, Monir Edwan and Hosam Edwan, totaling $29,521.54.
In an online form on Obama’s campaign site, the Edwans listed their street as “Tal Esaltan,” which they wrote was located in “Rafah, GA.”
Rafah is not a city in Georgia. The Atlas blog immediately raised concerns that the money may have been donated from the Gaza Strip town of Rafah.
The Edwans’ donations are listed in both FEC filings and other election filing sites, such as CampaignMoney and donordata.org.
Monir made 20 donations ranging from $717 to $2017.50 from October through November 2007. His donations totaled $24321.41. Hosam made seven donations ranging from $508.63 to $1725.96, totaling $5,200.13, all in October 2007.
A WND investigation tracked down the Edwans, who are brothers living in the Tal Esaltan neighborhood of Rafah, a large refugee camp in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
The Edwans are a large clan that include top Hamas supporters.
Speaking to WND, the two brothers praised Obama and admitted giving the money online to his campaign. They said they are not U.S. citizens or green card holders but are citizens of “Palestine.”
The Edwans denied they are affiliated with Hamas. Palestinian sources in Gaza confirmed the Edwans in question are secular, but could not say whether they supported Hamas.
Monir and Hasam Edwan denied their financial transactions online – listed as donations in U.S. government election filings – were actual donations to Obama’s campaign. Instead they claimed they purchased about $30,000 in Obama T-shirts from the presidential candidate’s online store – a contention that did not hold up during a WND interview, when they changed their story several times.
“My brother Hosam and I knew that Obama will be a big hit even before he became a candidate. We knew the guy would be a celebrity in Gaza so we decided to invest the amount of $29,000 to buy Obama T-shirts from his website and sell them in Gaza,” Monir Edwan told WND, speaking by cell phone from Gaza.
“I know on the back of this story Obama rivals will present our business as a donation and they will try to use this story to let Obama fall, but I’m telling you, we bought T-shirts,” Edwan maintained.
Edwan said any profit made from purportedly selling the Obama T-shirts was not returned to the Obama campaign.
“We have nothing to do with the Obama campaign. We just like Obama and believe he will be the best for the Palestinians and for the world.”
At first Monir Edwan claimed he sold the T-shirts in Gaza for around $9 and that a profit was made.
“Some young men even bought the T-shirts for 60 shekel ($17.29), which is a lot to spend in Gaza on a T-shirt, but that is how much Gazans like Obama,” Edwan claimed.
But it was pointed out to Edwan the T-shirts for sale on Obama’s website are listed as $20.08 and that selling the merchandise for less would not yield a profit.
“Maybe we sold the shirts for a lot more. I can’t remember now,” said Edwan.
Asked why he would purchase T-shirts at such a high rate and pay the cost of shipping when he could pay a company to produce T-shirts for less, Edwan replied, “We wanted the shirts to come from the campaign.”
But Edwan could not explain how he managed to get shipments of T-shirts into the Gaza Strip during the months he claimed to have purchased the merchandise, since Israel imposed a tight closure of the Gaza Strip starting in June 2007 that lasted until June 2008, when the Israeli government agreed to a cease-fire with Hamas in Gaza.
“We don’t want to cause any damage to Obama’s campaign,” was Edwan’s reply.
Edwan said he wants Obama to be president.
“Not just the people in Gaza but people from all over the world are rooting for this great man,” he told WND.
FEC spokesman Biersack told WND contributions from overseas are allowed if the donations are coming from U.S. citizens or green card carriers. But he said accepting money from foreigners would violate election provisions.
He said there are strict guidelines against accepting more than $2,300 from one individual during a single election.
“I am not familiar with the particulars of the case, so I am commenting in general. The FEC will have to examine all the circumstances before determining any wrongdoing,” Biersack clarified.
Obama’s campaign did not return WND phone calls or e-mail queries.
That the Edwans were able to contribute any money to Obama’s campaign from Gaza opens questions into the methods used by the presidential candidate’s website to accept online donations.
The website donation form asks each donor to affirm he or she is a U.S. citizen and is above the age of 16 but doesn’t require donors to prove their citizenship status, such as providing a social security number. The form further requires the donor to affirm the contribution is not coming from a corporation, political action committee or lobby group.
Going to try again!! Ricki Lieberman from Electibility Watch (EW) sent this to me:
1. YES! A PETITION BY HILLARY’S DELEGATES TO PUT HER NAME INTO NOMINATION
By right, the DNC should place into nomination the name of any candidate who brings delegates to the Democratic National Convention. However, we have come to realize that the DNC has taken on an anti-democratic identity, to its disgrace, so supporters of Senator Clinton are forced to become supplicants.
OK. If that’s how ‘they’ want it…they’ll get it, along with the resolve of the Clinton delegates to see her nominated as the only electable Democrat. For many this is no pro forma.
And we are reminding the Super Delegates that we are holding them responsible for nominating the only electable Democrat, Hillary Clinton.
Called Deans office,talked with a nice man.Asked him to ask dean to put Hillary’s name in nomination .He stated that Dean has nothing to do with this and he didn’t know what puma was telling me but it was wrong.That it has always been done by the Delegates putting someone in nomination.So I asked him if this ment that we ,18 million supporters,would have a voice at the convention?He said, absolutely yes.
PROWL – NASTY, NASTY, NASTY
Just completed today’s prowl. The woman who answered the phone professionally enough – “Chairman Dean’s Office – but discovering the purpose of my call, interrupted. ‘Her name will be on the roll call, just like other conventions!’ I corrected her. ‘But I want her name allowed into nomination.’ She sounded nasty. ‘It’s the same thing.’ ‘No,’ I corrected her, politely. ‘I am a lawyer and I have read the DNC Call; I know that when a candidate whose name has not been accepted into nomination on the ballot, receives roll call votes, these votes are recorded as “Present.” Please tell people this.’ Then she said HRC would be on the ballot (whatever this means to her).
I know i’m getting a bit off subject here but I just got this email from Florida Democrates and I’m mad!
Please read:
Proud DaySunday, August 3, 2008 6:17 PM
From: “Karen L. Thurman”
Dear Susan,
Today is a proud day for all of us who fought so hard to ensure Floridians votes are fully counted.
Just minutes ago, Sen. Barack Obama sent a letter to the DNC credentials committee urging them to restore the full vote of the Michigan and Florida Delegations, proving his commitment to uniting the party and ending the uncertainty surrounding the process.
With Florida’s economy in recession for the first time in 16 years, our state leading the nation in job loss, and we are number two in foreclosures, Floridians in every corner of our state are excited to elect Barack Obama and other Democrats this fall to bring change to Washington and Florida. The people of Florida know Barack Obama and other Democrats will rebuild our economy, create good jobs, and lower gas prices and homeowners insurance rates.
I want to thank Barack Obama, the Florida Congressional Delegation, the Democrats in our Legislature, and voters across Florida for fighting to have our votes count. This is a proud day for all of us.
Sincerely,
Karen Thurman
Congresswoman Karen L. Thurman
Chair, Florida Democratic Party
——————————————————————————–
Paid for and authorized by the Florida Democratic Party, http://www.fladems.com.
I think it’s a little to late for obama to being doing this now to get votes. When we wanted our votes to count here in Florida for Hillary he said no and fought it now that he THINKS he has all the votes we get a full vote! This has just made us more angery and we want to do something about it!
1. YES! A PETITION BY HILLARY’S DELEGATES TO PUT HER NAME INTO NOMINATION
By right, the DNC should place into nomination the name of any candidate who brings delegates to the Democratic National Convention. However, we have come to realize that the DNC has taken on an anti-democratic identity, to its disgrace, so supporters of Senator Clinton are forced to become supplicants.
OK. If that’s how ‘they’ want it…they’ll get it, along with the resolve of the Clinton delegates to see her nominated as the only electable Democrat. For many this is no pro forma.
And we are reminding the Super Delegates that we are holding them responsible for nominating the only electable Democrat, Hillary Clinton.
If you are a HRC delegate, or if you know HRC delegates, please contact hrc300delegates@yahoo.com, ASAP! For more information, please contact Sue Castner 503-203-1027 womenvote2008@gmail.com, or John West 312-399-4458 jwlandscapesllc@gmail.com
From the Department of Just Not Getting It comes this email to a Puma PAC member in Florida, verbatim, minus personal details:
From: Karen L. Thurman
Subject: Proud Day
To:
Date: Sunday, August 3, 2008, 6:17 PM
Dear S—–,
Today is a proud day for all of us who fought so hard to ensure Floridians votes are fully counted. Just minutes ago, Sen. Barack Obama sent a letter to the DNC credentials committee urging them to restore the full vote of the Michigan and Florida Delegations, proving his commitment to uniting the party and ending the uncertainty surrounding the process.
With Florida’s economy in recession for the first time in 16 years, our state leading the nation in job loss, and we are number two in foreclosures, Floridians in every corner of our state are excited to elect Barack Obama and other Democrats this fall to bring change to Washington and Florida. The people of Florida know Barack Obama and other Democrats will rebuild our economy, create good jobs, and lower gas prices and homeowners insurance rates. I want to thank Barack Obama, the Florida Congressional Delegation, the Democrats in our Legislature, and voters across Florida for fighting to have our votes count.
This is a proud day for all of us.
Sincerely,
Karen Thurman
Hello all-
just got in, left message at the DNC.
I called the Daily News earlier today after reading Marc’s blog @ Tom in Paine. Both reporters on that story, Michael Saul and Tom DeFort are on vacation this week, convenient, isn’t it?
Anyway, I left a VM for DeFort saying I couldn’t believe he would write such a fabricated story w/ no evidence, I left my cell #, which unbelievable he called back w/in 30 minutes but I missed the call! He told me in his VM that I didn’t know what I was talking about, that he stands by his story and he has evidence.
Oy vey!
I sure would not mind giving Congresswoman Karen L. Thurman a piece of my mind. Pretending Obama was such a nice guy to give FL full voting rights. What a crock.
It was Hillary that wanted it and fought for it and it was Obama who declined every offer Hillary made during the primaries.
I detect a prowl in this but not sure if it is priority right now :-) .
#328 Henerietta on 08.04.08 at 5:27 pm
So now we have to await for a ‘gift’ from the Jester to allow all our votes to count? The letter from the Florida Chair implies that Floridians are getting the votes counted because Obama is giving them that right!
This is not what true leaders in a democracy do, this is what dictators and cult leaders do!
I’ll try this one more time..
THEY JUST DON’T GET IT!! My husband was watching the “Situation Room” while I was fixing dinner. They showed a poll that said bo had the best chance of winning if Hillary was his V.P.
Then they said that would be the only way to appease her women supporters. I was screaming, “No, you idiots. We do not want her to be his V.P. We want her to be our President”..
Do they think all men are as stupid as they are? There are many men that also want Hillary as President..
Our e-mails have fallen on deaf ears..
Why not discuss all of the different stances that bo has taken since becoming the “selected” one? He fiip flops more than Flipper..
I will try one more e-mail to Lou Dobbs. He is the only one who has any sense on that network.
I am posting “code” with spaces in between so that it won’t turn into faces again. Don’t use spaces because it won’t work. If you want to put multiple faces separate them with space after each face.
Big smile : D collon D
Small smile : ) collon close parentesis
Wink ;) semi-collon open parentesis ( I think–collon button without “Shift”
Sad : ( collon open parentesis
I hope it will work
For those having posting problem:
First copy your comments before submitting them.
When you hit the submit button, keep hitting the submit button quickle.
If your post does fail, you have it copied post it again and hit the submut button several times quickly.
Hope that might help.
Let’s keep in mind, at this point Bo is nothing more than a Senator when it comes to standing, that’s how it should be but unfortunately those excuses for leaders in the DNC has given him power above a senator.
This truly sickens me. A flake who couldn’t vote more than present is now practically Acting Preseident, and it ticks me off that Bush allows this tripe to continue.
And it should not be up to Bo about Florida & Michigan, it should be up to the DNC, but as usual they are kneeling at his feet bowing repeatedly as they exclaim “Yes Master” we’ll do your bidding.
Problems Mount for Obama as Democratic Convention Nears
Excerpt: Clinton spokeswoman Kathleen Strand said in a statement Friday that Clinton was “100 percent committed to helping Barack Obama become the next president of the United States and realizes there are passionate feelings that remain among many of her supporters.” Strand said that no decisions have been made (about whether Sen. Clinton’s name should be placed in nomination) but, when they are, “they will be made collaboratively with Senator Clinton and her staff, the DNC and Senator Obama’s campaign.”
Ultimately, the candidate and his top aides get to decide who speaks and when. The Obama campaign has to weigh the potential disturbances Clinton supporters might stage if he denies her a roll-call vote. There are Internet rumblings about a march on or during the convention by disaffected Clinton Democrats.
“Generous” of Obama, but wasn’t it a given when, in mid-June they (you know, them) said the half votes would be restored to full votes for the Convention?
Sent the following message to the florida dems website abou their glee over getting their votes back”
‘Just read your website where you rejoice about getting your votes back from the BO machine. Reminds me of an abused wife. BO operatives led by Donna B. took your votes away, then gave 1/2 back when it would handicap Hillary Clinton, and now that they have muzzled her, BO magnanimously gives them back. His arrogance is absurd and your glee over being used once again to influence the outcome of an election is disgusting, especially since it’s your own party this time. You know there’s counseling for this kind of victim mindset.’
For people interested in writing to the Super Delegates and are new to this:
There are two good sites to use;
http://politicallydrunk.blogspot.com/2008/07/last-stand-email-initiative-for-puma.html This is a quick and easy way to write to the Super Delegates, just a couple forms to fill out and you are done. They reload the data base every few days so check back. They up to date data base.
The second site – which I just got done using for the third time since June;
http://www.lobbydelegates.com/ this site can be time consuming. It takes me about 90 minutes to go through every state listed and selecting for: “Obama’s Super Delegates” and the “Uncommitted Super Delegates”. Though you don’t have to do all the states all at the same time. I believe the data base on this is older and you get a lot of rejected e-mails back.
Good luck to all.
How many of you are angry at the DNC because of how Hillary has to get permission to do anything regarding this election, but yet Bo is calling all the shots. When they both should be going into this convention on equal ground.
I see many here say Clinton should speak up, be stronger. My response is no, the DNC should be called to task more often by Americans for allowing this fiasco to continue. Pelosi, Dean, Brazile are not so hidden that we can’t reach them.
Please everyone go beyond the growl. Do not become complacent. E-mail them and let them know how you feel.
I am really ticked over this entire florida michigan farce, as you can see.
I think that when it comes to October suprprises the American People do not grasp long winded story lines. Short and not so sweet sticks with the “typical” American public. here are examples of headlines:
OBAMA LOVE CHILD, Prostitution, drugs, murder, CHild Abuse, and dog fighting. I guess maybe I have A.D.D. but, When I have to read an article two pages long on a candidate…. that maybe got funds from Gaza…. I am lost. Not undereducated…. maybe just bored. ( I am sure that many Puma’s are not ) :(
#419 murphy on 08.04.08 at 6:51 pm
Hi joanna0902,
Welcome — the person behind the notfallinginline and antipuma propaganda is also known here as Knoxville. He is determined to undermine the Puma PAC efforts by doing everything he can to smear me personally all over the internet. I’m sorry if you were confused or upset by what you read.
He is NOT a Puma. He has tried in every way to disrupt and discourage our members. He is not welcome here because of his lies and his outrageous behavior in our forums toward other members.
All of Puma PAC’s financial records are public documents. We file a detailed form with the FEC every month, detailing all of our income and expenditures. In June we received just over $22,000 in donations. In July we received just under. Our July filing will be sent to the FEC by August 14th.
All of my efforts are 100% volunteer. I take no salary, stipend, or any other kind of payments from Puma PAC. Our office is rent-free. Our computers and fax machines and cell phones are borrowed. No one else at Puma PAC receives any sort of salary or stipend either.
Recurring expenses for Puma PAC, which are paid for by the PAC, include legal representation, some web development services, and web hosting. We have also paid to have t-shirts printed, some bracelets made up, and some printing costs. Travel and production costs for our film and promotional video have also been paid for from PAC funds. More than 10,000 people have viewed the promo since we posted it Saturday night. More than 1.2 million visits to our site have been logged in our first 9 weeks, so I believe in terms of advertising, we have been quite successful in our efforts so far. Puma PAC’s budget is lean, mean, and effective.
We will be spending PAC money to help Puma members get to Denver, and will also spend money while we are there to protest, live blog, and host delegate and media events.
A full page ad in the New York Times and other big daily newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune costs between $75,000 and $100,000. Half page ads cost between $40 and $50,000. Television and radio advertising is even more expensive.
Since our budget is relatively small, we must be cautious and frugal in our expenditures.
I do not take accusations of criminal activity against me lightly. Breaking FEC finance laws is a federal crime for which only I would face liability. That being said, I know that I am an honorable and law-abiding person. I also know that I cannot control all the hateful and divisive people out there who would love nothing more than to see Puma PAC fail. For that reason, I try not to pay too much attention to obvious stalkers and kooks.
On the other hand, your question is a fair and reasonable one and it deserves an open and detailed answer.
If you have any other questions, please email me at murphy@pumapac.org
Thanks!
#420 Bill-K on 08.04.08 at 6:52 pm
#414 TrishfromCanada
Agreed. He was caught deceiving this group and his reasons for being here. Not to mention he was caught calling another puma a b&tch. Of course his web site only tells his side, a lop-sided view point.
He is a trouble maker and will do anything to try and distract the goals of puma pac. I think he is also very jealous of Murphy and how successful she has taken our group forward. Best to ignore such people, just trolls.
#421 murphy on 08.04.08 at 6:53 pm
I have been writing themn constantly but I don’t consider myself much at these formal type letters. Mybe some of the writing people might have some ideas for the new comers.
#429 murphy on 08.04.08 at 7:02 pm
oh I dont care that he is not a woman either — of course not. That fact is either irrelevant or it is not — way beyond me to figure that one out.
And honestly, liberty, it’s not me he is trying to hurt — it’s all of us. I’m just an effective target.
So by all means have a beer (have one for me too!) but dont be discouraged lassie (as my Buppa would say)
They really do think we are stupid.
#435 TrishfromCanada on 08.04.08 at 7:04 pm
#428 LibertyPuma
My joke was obviously taken the wrong way, I was referring to Hillary supporters being referred to as bitter women. Brian is a bitter man. No ill intent meant towards men at all. I appreciate every Puma who is honest and has integrity regardless of gender.
#436 SunnyPA on 08.04.08 at 7:05 pm
Forget the money.
Murphy’s efforts are a tremendous undertaking. She has put herself in the direct line of fire for threats, physical harm to her and her family, insults and scandals.
And, for a new group, we are hugely successful … there’s no price on that.
Besides, if you don’t have the money … don’t donate.
#437 ladyhawkke on 08.04.08 at 7:06 pm
I tried to post my comment again but it says it is a duplicate. I don’t see it here. Will try again.
1. YES! A PETITION BY HILLARY’S DELEGATES TO PUT HER NAME INTO NOMINATION
By right, the DNC should place into nomination the name of any candidate who brings delegates to the Democratic National Convention. However, we have come to realize that the DNC has taken on an anti-democratic identity, to its disgrace, so supporters of Senator Clinton are forced to become supplicants.
OK. If that’s how ‘they’ want it…they’ll get it, along with the resolve of the Clinton delegates to see her nominated as the only electable Democrat. For many this is no pro forma.
And we are reminding the Super Delegates that we are holding them responsible for nominating the only electable Democrat, Hillary Clinton.
If you are a HRC delegate, or if you know HRC delegates, please contact hrc300delegates@yahoo.com, ASAP! For more information, please contact Sue Castner 503-203-1027 womenvote2008@gmail.com, or John West 312-399-4458 jwlandscapesllc@gmail.com
Now about the October Surprise thing. Other countries have attacked us before when we’ve been the most vulnerable and divided. As we become more and more dependent on foreign powers, we lessen the respectability from these nations. All of the theories are in that document. What is happening though, is the voter is becoming more educated and more aware of things happening on a daily basis. Look how much we learn from each other.
We have the strength and knowledge to start turning this country back to what it used to be. We need to get rid of corrupt government, get back to what the United States used to be, and return to democracy. We need to fight for every constitutional right we have left – you’ve already started that process here.
That October Surprise is an eye opener. But remember what others have said here: BO wants us to be afraid!! The DNC wants us to be afraid!! It is a very underhanded practice to instill fear in everyone.
I could not finish reading all of the rantings by Knoxville.
I hope you know we support you, trust you, admire you, respect you and are so thankful for all you do.
I honestly think I was going crazy until I found PUMApac, the primaries were so devastating.
I needed a place to go where I could take positive action and get good information.
THANK YOU!
here’s landipuma’s AWESOME tips for letter-writing. Also, the link for contacting newspapers is in our lovely new ACTION CENTER:
http://www.pumapac.org/action_center.html
TIPS for writing ‘LETTERS TO THE EDITOR’ in newspapers
How to write & edit effective letters that will get published
———————————-
• Be Concise, brief. Avoid rambling sentences & big words.
• State Your Point or argument early, clearly & succinctly; in letter’s intro.
Start with– and maintain focus on– your most important point.
• Stick to a single subject & stay on it. One issue per letter.
• Limit the number of points. Don’t rehash points.
• Be logically organized.
• Limit it to 2 to 5 paragraphs; each one 2 to 3 sentences.
• 200 words is usual limit. Keep to it! The more they have to edit, the less control you have of what gets printed.
• Let your personality show.
• No personal attacks!
• A hint of restrained anger or humor or irony can be effective sometimes.
• Know your subject; do research. Use facts, figures and expert testimony when you can. Readers respect the opinions of those w/special knowledge & expertise.
• Explain how the issue will affect your subject (ie: voters, the country, our future, a certain group of people, etc, etc).
• Identify the responsible person (the decision maker, elected official, etc).
• Offer a solution (RE: your criticism, argument, etc).
• Include phone numbers or address of who to contact (for action, etc… if relevant).
• See it from reader’s perspective. Will it all make sense to someone without your knowledge & background.
• Close with a short restatement of your position or a pithy comment.
• Read letter to a friend, for objective input.
Don’t mail it the same day you write it.
Write and edit it; then put it aside until next day.
Reread it in a fresh light & you’ll spot things you didn’t see before.
• Know that your letter may be edited for length, content & readability.
• Hone your opinion-letter writing style.
Learn the newspaper’s style and audience.
Read other ‘Letters to the Editor’ in different papers to learn.
1- Foe faux-puma is running around the blogosphere under various names, trying to drag people to his site and into his mix and mindset. Pfffft.
2-Truth be known, even if Murphy was spending my contributions on her mortgage, her children’s college education fund, vacations… whatever, it wouldn’t bother me in the least. What I have gained at puma pac and what we are doing as a group is priceless.
3-I’m fiercely loyal, although not blindly so, to people I perceive as altruistic, ethical, honest, responsible, and fun! Murphy meets those criteria… that’s all I have to know.
For what you are doing here, you deserve the best. I would actually like to see you get very rich over all this. I remember finding your blog as Clinton’s was shutting down and I was in dispair about what was going to happen to my country. People there were talking about PUMA. You gave us a home when we needed one. And Mr. Knoxville better mind his manners or he is going to have alot of mad bloggers on his hands.
#453 NotFallingInLine on 08.04.08 at 7:19 pm
Murphy! Did you deleted me? I had to sign back up. I have nothing to do with NFIL.org. I’m in New Jersey and never talked to the guy. I didn’t even like his site. :-)
#454 MountainSong on 08.04.08 at 7:19 pm
I can’t believe what a low-life Knoxville turned out to be. Murphy will surely go down in the Herstory books as one of the true heroines of our time, perhaps not perfect, but still a selfless, dedicated, caring and wonderful woman who loves the party, justice and equality for everyone. Knoxville, just tuck your tail between your legs and slink off into the night…or wherever you came from.
#455 gostrumcat on 08.04.08 at 7:19 pm
Murphy, I have a confession to make…
I responded to Knoxville…
This is really unfortunate, but I’ll be honest. I think (and I may be wrong) that I remember you, Knoxville, from the HRC site. There was something about you that bothered me then and I couldn’t put my finger on it. Some kind of whiny, little brother, always looking to be the bigshot in someone else’s game sort of thing. I’m not a big contributor or blogger, so I didn’t really pay much attention to you. I read something recently that said it’s amazing what you can accomplish when you no longer worry about who gets the credit. I think this is part of the problem here, you do care and it’s a team game.
I don’t know any of the PUMA folks in the flesh, but my gut feeling is always spot on. I have never interacted with a more compassionate, caring, task oriented team. If you pay attention, a person’s written words will tell you all you need to know. Though they are a diverse lot with opinions that run the board on certain things, we are united in cause and that is all that matters.
I respect your decision to take your ball and run to Mommy. I wish you well in your future endeavors. I choose Murphy and PUMA and have no issues with the way our site is handled by the group leaders.
Goodbye Brian.
Calls/emails to Deano from Heidi Li
For those of you that did not catch Heidi Li last night (I think) on blogtalkadio, she said we have to remind Dean HE is the one who is head of the DNC, HE is the one who is getting paid to do this job and HE is the one that controls the decisions of the DNC, NOT *61.
HE also has the say whether or not Senator Clinton’s name is put into nomination without requiring anything else be done. HE can also request a signed petition for *61 as he is also just a candidate and NOT a nominee.
If Deano has made the decision to turn everything over to a non-nominee, then he needs to immediately give up his position and step down so WE are not paying him for a job he is NOT doing. He MUST be made accountable for doing his job and being fair at the convention.
My comment—all DNC members should be held accountable or asked to step down and quit getting paid by us. I would think *61 has no rights to the convention decisions as he is NOT in any high level DNC position. The delegate petition guarantees Senator Clinton’s name is on the ballot as a nominee if she signs it, but ultimately has the ability and authority to automatically put her name into nomination without any other conditions, as he has done with *61.
If I misspoke on what she said, please correct me but I think that was basically it and a VERY important point according to her.
Just Last Month, Obama Opposed Tapping The Reserve, Arguing That It Should Be Used For Genuine Emergencies Like A Terrorist Attack On Oil Supplies :
Obama: “I do not believe that we should use the strategic oil reserves at this point. I have said and, in fact, supported a congressional resolution that said that we should suspend putting more oil into the strategic oil reserve, but the strategic oil reserve, I think, has to be reserved for a genuine emergency. You have a situation, let’s say, where there was a major oil facility in Saudi Arabia that was destroyed as a consequence of terrorist acts, and you suddenly had huge amounts of oil taken out of the world market, we wouldn’t just be seeing $4-a-gallon oil. We could see a situation where entire sectors of the country had no oil to function at all. And that’s what the strategic oil reserve has to be for.” (Sen. Barack Obama, Remarks At Media Availability, St. Louis, MO, 7/7/08)
Just fired off an e-mail the the chair of the fla dem party. Not one of my better pieces of writing, but here it is:
Dear Chairman Thurman:
Your effusive letter about Senator Obama’s urge to seat all of Florida delegates struck me as quite disingenuous. If you recall, it was not, nor has it been, Senator Obama who advocated for and fought for seating all of Florida’s delegates. It was Senator Clinton. In fact, while she was on the right side of the issue in terms of the basic democratic promise of one person, one vote, Senator Obama was busy touting the importance of “rules” and showed no sign whatsoever that he had even the slightest interest in making sure every vote counted (as a whole vote, by the way). Only now that he feels assured of being the Democratic nominee, has he come out in favor of seating all of Florida’s delegates with full votes. Your letter is re-writing history and it has the old familiar ring of the not-so-distant past when casting Senator’s Clinton aside in favor of promoting Senator Obama at any cost became the law of the land in the Democratic Party.
I was a Democrat my entire life and proud to be one, but no longer. The party seems to have morphed into an unrecognizable creature with a rather Stalanesque character at the helm.
You should all be ashamed.
From RICKI LIEBERMAN, Electability Watch (EW)
1. YES! A PETITION BY HILLARY’S DELEGATES TO PUT HER NAME INTO NOMINATION
By right, the DNC should place into nomination the name of any candidate who brings delegates to the Democratic National Convention. However, we have come to realize that the DNC has taken on an anti-democratic identity, to its disgrace, so supporters of Senator Clinton are forced to become supplicants.
OK. If that’s how ‘they’ want it…they’ll get it, along with the resolve of the Clinton delegates to see her nominated as the only electable Democrat. For many this is no pro forma.
And we are reminding the Super Delegates that we are holding them responsible for nominating the only electable Democrat, Hillary Clinton.
#479 murphy on 08.04.08 at 8:06 pm
Because Riverdaughter says it so well. Read the whole thing here: http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2008/08/04/monday-obamas-gesture/
In response to Obama calling today for FL and MI delegates to be fully seated:
“Back when his “magnaminity” would have counted, he would have taken a small hit in his delegate lead and everyone would have been happy and impressed by his sense of fairness to the voters. But back then, no amount of pleading could convince him to ask for such fairness. He couldn’t even be moved to join in a revote effort. The reason is very clear. Without Florida and Michigan, Hillary’s other states lacked the critical mass of delegates that would have put her on an even footing with him. In fact, if FL and MI had been counted fully from the beginning, it would have been all over by February 5th. Her substantial and decisive wins in FL, MI, CA, NJ, NY, MA, and AZ would have dwarfed his insignificant wins in the western caucuses. The weightiness of all of those big D and swing states would have had him barely hanging in the race. OH and TX would have finished him off. We all know this. That’s why it was so important for him to screw FL and MI back in February. It doesn’t make them any less screwed now that he’s sent a letter.
No, instead, Hillary was forced to pole vault a 435ft bar all primary season while Obama was allowed to gently ease his way over a knee wall, assisted by a boost up from his friends in the media and the RBC committee. Obama successfully kept these two states out of the tallies until he could get the Rules and Bylaws committee to grudgingly give these two states half of their voting strength while at the same time awarding Obama uncommitted Michigan delegates that should have remained uncommitted. And he stole 4 of Clinton’s delegates.
He must think we are really stupid if he thinks we can’t see through this meaningless gesture:
* He still selfishly retains 4 of Hillary’s Michigan delegates. He doesn’t give up a single Michigan delegate that should have remained uncommitted.
* The number of delegates needed for nomination has now changed. It’s a higher threshold number now but there is no acknowledgment that this is the case. Does he even qualify as the “presumptive nominee”?
* Unless there is a nomination for Clinton at the convention, the restoration of Florida and Michigan to full voting strength doesn’t count. They can only vote for one person, Obama, or their votes will count as “present”.
* If the delegates can’t vote for Clinton for nomination, even if she doesn’t win it, there is no way for MY vote in NJ to count. I am officially a non-voting voter as far as the DNC is concerned. My delegate has about as much of a voting right as a Berliner.
* It does nothing to achieve party unity. In fact, there won’t be party unity until every delegate has the right to vote for the person he pledged to and have that vote count. Otherwise, the convention is nothing but a sham, a Potemkin election where everything is scripted and a facade is erected to make it look like we are all onboard when nothing could be further from the truth. But the degree of the disunity will be felt in November when Obama goes down to defeat behind the unpopular party’s nominee.
Why bother, Barack? Are the numbers starting to frighten you? Did you decide you needed Florida and Michigan after all, as if any voter from these two states can’t see through this? How about you give back your ill-gotten booty in Michigan and take off the sash that says “presumptive nominee”? Why not leave it up to the voters in Denver to decide if you deserve that title? It would be the sincere thing to do, the honest thing to do, the courageous and unselfish thing to do.
Yeah, right. Why don’t you just brush those inconvenient Hillary voters off of your shoulder?”
For days, ever since JMc’s commercial comparing BO to Paris Hilton began running, I had been citing this BO comment about Paris Hilton, which he made in 2004 as the senator-elect, on other blogs, responding to complaints JMc’s use of the comparison was racist. I was so happy to see your link to Ms. Sweet’s recent column, repeating BO’s prior quote. Leave it to her to print the real story. (The Sun-Times isn’t the only one in the know. Did you see Jeff Zeleny in the Tribune, quoting BO in 2005 saying if he wasn’t black, he would be just one of nine freshmen senators? It’s even on BO’s senate web site! Yet, incredibly, he disingenuously attacked GF for repeating the sentiment in regards to this presidential race.)
SORRY, must repeat, in case anyone was starting to waver in their belief that this illegitimate candidate was selected, not elected:
?No, instead, Hillary was forced to pole vault a 435ft bar all primary season while Obama was allowed to gently ease his way over a knee wall, assisted by a boost up from his friends in the media and the RBC committee. Unrelated to that, I’m reposting some sections of posts from yesterday, one for laughs the other for action.
The first is from bmw60 cause it’s so funny and the poor guy was on hold for 20 min this morning waiting to get on with Lou Dobbs and just as he was about to get on the air, he got disconnected. Haven’t heard from him since, went off feeling really bad. Hey, bmw60, if you’re out there, hope you’ve recovered from this morning’s disappointment. Maybe your own post from yesterday will life your spirits:
Just had to post this… cause I wanted to end my day on a “funny” — these were posted on a youtube for O and his energy solution of pumping up our tires…LOL>>>LOL>>>LOL
Just more proof that Obama is full of hot air. Most newer vehicles only require spark plugs to be changed every 100,000 miles. Most people don’t keep a car that long. Whats next-lower the antenna for less wind resistance? Maybe if we put more air in the rear wheels the car will tilt forward and roll under it’s own power-LOL. This man went to Harvard?
REALLY think about it…
It’s Inflating Tires.
INFLATED TIRES. That’s it!
INFLATED FREAKING TIRES???
LOL!!!!
This is Sen Obama’s Dukkakis Tank Moment.
This IS His Waterloo.
This is his Marie Antoinette Moment.
Let them eat cake?
No, says Senator Obama.
Let them have Air…
haha
This is the first part of a post was from Hillstheone:
~ ~ TOPIC: Sympathetic Media ~ ~
Here are a couple of journalists to share some PUMA love w/ this week in an email:
1) Today’s column by Washington Post Op-Ed columnist George Will on Obama:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/01/AR2008080102871.html
you can email Mr. Will here: georgewill@washpost.com
I e-mailed George to let him know about us. As Hillstheone noted, sounds like he may be sympathetic and supportive.
Hello everyone, sorry I haven’t been on a lot lately (if anyone noticed lol) been dealing with personal things but anyway, I read what’s been going on last couple of days (whoa about Knoxville) anyways sorry Murphy I missed the prowl today should I still do it tomorrow morning (if it’s not to late to do it).
#490 EWard on 08.04.08 at 8:25 pm
Prowls for the day
-completed Dean prowl
-called 6 CA superdelegates (had a long chat with one staffer and he wanted to know more about Puma Pac/why we were not supporting *61)
Murphy – excellent benchmarks for all of us to achieve.
There is so much Puma activity that sometimes it is hard to remember our mission. However, I always liked this statement – Thank you Hillary but we will take it from here –
At this time, the DP belongs to *61. Yet, every prowl moves us closer to our goal. It is going to be a long and difficult slog to reach our main goal and that is to defeat *61. We will prevail.
Need to sign off for a couple of hours.
Go Pumas!!!!
Okay, I am A PROUD PUMA even though I don’t blog often, however I do read your posts everyday. I know there’s bickering here at times, but then again families are not perfect! I don’t like to get involved but I need to here. Knoxville… you OWE MURPHY AN APOLOGY! When Hillary suspended her campaign, I was devastated! I immediately unsubscribed from Hillary’s site because I wanted to make sure Obama did not get my e-mail address. Thankfully, I believe it was Karlaforhillary that mentioned PUMA. Many of us felt HELPLESS after Hillary Suspended and wanted to do something but didn’t know what to do or how to get started. Murphy did the hard work for all of us! (A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL THE OTHER PUMAS WHO HELP OUT) She gave us a place to call home and I am so grateful for that! I AM JEALOUS OF MURPHY! Only because I have a husband and 4 kids and it’s A LOT of work. Muphy has three kids! How does she handle home, kids and this blog? I need to know her secret! My favorite line this campaign season comes from my FAVORITE PRESIDENT, BILL CLINTON. “WHEN THEY TELL YOU, YOU CAN’T WIN….IT’S BECAUSE THEY KNOW YOU CAN!” You are a WINNER MURPHY!!!
I can’t wait to go upstairs so we can have a new image to look at. This one is killing me.
There’s a reason that I don’t listen to the news or watch any televised program that might be interrupted with BO ads.
It is definitely inappropriate for me to comment any further on the image – I would probably be banned from the blog. :)
Eward and Anna you are always so focusing and uplifting — thank you!
great to see you kai,
jbjd…Thank you for your response to my post last Tuesday. I asked for advice about talking to a pledged delegate. You advised me not to overwhelm them with information. It was very helpful. She signed the petition and passed the info on to others who also signed . I read above that you are an attorney. That was my first guess. My second was therapist.
Which President served the longest time in office and who served the shortest time in office -
#505 jbjd on 08.04.08 at 8:38 pm
Wow – that was quick Murphy – I have the answer so no need to look it up – in fact I have thanks to AARP – 50 of these type of questions – some very very interesting ones too – YOU GOT ONE RIGHT
#509 sheila7 on 08.04.08 at 8:40 pm
PUMAS,
Did anyone see the piece about Bill Clinton on the AOL homepage? It’s interesting if you read between the lines. Here is an interesting excerpt:
“I never was mad at Sen. Obama,” the former president said. “I think everybody’s got a right to run for president who qualifies under the Constitution. And I’d be the last person to begrudge anybody their ambition.”
#510 Anna7000 on 08.04.08 at 8:42 pm
bmw60 – I’m so glad you posted. I’ve really been thinking about you today and felt so bad that you were so psyched, then got disconnected, then disappeared from the blog for the better part of the day. I’m ssoooo glad you’re here and laughing. Truly, that post of yours is a keeper. Cut, pasted and in my word file folders for all of eternity! (Maybe I should put it in a bottle and bury it for future civilations to find. It would be a head scratcher for sure! OR, maybe by then, it will be proven that lowering the antenae does decrease wind resistance and finding your post will be a huge breakthrough – finally the discovery of who had the seed of that idea!)
And, thanks for the compliment (thanks Murhpy, as well). I truly think every single person here is special in their own way. I love how we each have our own kind of voice and somehow manage to navigate this hectic, fast paced blog, for the most part, with a lot of grace, giving each other space, speaking up when we need to, connecting more with some than with others, but always coming back to remembering why we’re all here.
#511 Anna7000 on 08.04.08 at 8:45 pm
shiela7 – oh yeah, read between the lines, no joke! mr. clinton is a genius! let’s see, translation:
It’s a free country and even a totally unqualified person can run for office if they’ve got enough ambition.
#514 sheila7 on 08.04.08 at 8:48 pm
Anna7000,
I was also referring to him saying everyone has a right to run if they are qualified under the constitution. I think that’s an odd thing to say.
#519 bmw60 on 08.04.08 at 8:51 pm
THANKS AGAIN ANNA7000… I ECHO YOUR SENTIMENTS ABOUT THIS BLOG
I wrote the FL dems this:
I am shocked that the Florida delegation is jumping with glee now that Obama has magnanimously said he wanted the full delegations to count at the convention… how about that change????… so, effectively he silenced Hillary Clinton who more Floridians voted for and effectively said they only counted for 1/2 votes through the DNC… he opposed and dragged his feet about the revote… so You guys are just hunky dory with him HUH????
Well, I am shocked that you think this is so wonderful… I am shocked that you like being kicked and punched so much…. There are classes you can take and interventions you can join for the “Battered Democratic Politician Syndrom”…
Try PUMAPac or Just Say No Deal for healing from this syndrom.
Number of Democrats in US Declines in July
Saturday, August 02, 2008
During July, the number of Americans who consider themselves to be Democrats fell two percentage points to 39.2%. That’s the first time since January that the number of Democrats has fallen below 41% (see history from January 2004 to present).
Overall, there are twice as many uncommitted voters at this point in Election 2008 as there were four years ago. An analysis released yesterday showed that there are more Democrats than Republicans in the uncommitted category, but that they are leaning more towards McCain than Obama.
#565 jenniforhillary on 08.04.08 at 9:31 pm
Just heard the whole Bill Clinton interview..my mother and I cried a whole half box of kleenex. HOW DARE THEY call that man a racist….I cannot contain my disgust and ANGER. I am angry. How can this happen in THIS COUNTRY?
Is this what happens when good countries go bad? The CLINTONS are the FINEST people in this country–they rank right up there, and they have been denigrated, denied, and debased by lowlifes not worth the time of day. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN?
One other thing, I will NOT be okay if Hillary does not get the nod. I realized this today. I will NEVER be okay. As woman, as a Clinton lover, and as a MAJOR Hillary fan I will never be okay. So I guess I better get to work because I have three weeks left…
She won people, and they yanked it right back. She won, and if they women and men of this country do not stand up now and DEMAND that she be given her just due, well then I don’t know how we can call ourselves a free democratic equality based nation. In fact, I don’t think we can.
She won, gosh darn it, the girl won. And they stole it from her. This is not fair. And that video about PUMA has just about done me in for tears tonight. I WANT MY HILLARY!! I want her and I am not settling for the boy this time…I want my Hillary :)
#566 Kerri on 08.05.08 at 12:49 am
Hey all. What’s this I hear about Knoxville Puma? He was a regualr here…I don’t get it. I searched that name as well as notfallinginline and didn’t get any hits, so I guess the posts were scrubbed? I don’t have any idea what they said, yet am interested because I recognize the handle.
Anyway, I’m looking for a PUMA who wants to ride into the city with me tomorrow for the 6:30 get out the truth event in Manhattan. If you’re east of the city, get at me.
Also, it’s time for my monthly letter to the delgates and super delegates…I’ll check the action center, but if email addy’s aren’t prominently displayed there I’ma ask for a good list from the fellow pac’ers. That which I got from Ricki’s EW is horrible. Thanks guys.
