Watched the clip for a second time after someone said you were in it. I assume you are the woman in the sleeveless turtleneck. Wow I thought the young woman was an intelligent, articulate college/grad student. Damn if I maybe shallow you definately do not look like someone over thirty and the power horse that you. I am honored to be associated with your group in my own small way. Keep it up.

Hello Pumas – I’m reposting this again.

Our mission has gone beyond Senator Clinton and *61. We are fighting a corrupt nominee and party. As we stated many times before, we own our vote. *61 is unqualified and unfit to be the POTUS. Senator Clinton has a right to her opinion, but we have moved beyond that.

Rove & Republican connection

The Republicans were not sitting in the famous “rules” meeting in May that took away Hillary’s delegates. They were all Democrats.

It wasn’t the Republican superdelegates that voted for *61 even though Hillary had won their states. It was the Democratic superdelegates such as Rockefeller, Kennedy, Kerry, Richardson, Byrd, Napolitano, and so on.

I have no doubt that the Republicans supported *61 in the beginning. However, it is through the Democratic superdelegates that he grabbed the lead. The last time that I looked none of them were Republicans.

#109 DancesWithPumas

I left a voicemail message at NY Daily News demanding a retraction of the false Hillary story.

#111 #120 Prowland

I copied and pasted your link about the superdelegates that *61 bought and will send to some media outlets.

Whether or not Hillary wants her name in the nomination its a slap in the face of her 18 million supporters not to have her name there. Thats why it has to be there since 18 million people can’t just be silenced like that. I mean what are they afraid of if they so confident O will win why don’t they want her name in I think its cos they’ll be the 1s embarassed if Hill wins.

“I don’t think it’s accurate to say that my comments have nothing to do with race,” Obama said. “Here’s what I was saying and I think this should be undisputed: That I don’t come out of central casting, when it comes to presidential races. For a whole range of reasons. I’m young, I’m new to the national scene, my name is Barack Obama, I am African American, I was born in Hawaii, I spent time in Indonesia. I do not have the typical biography of a presidential candidate. What that means is that I’m sort of unfamiliar and people are still trying to get a fix on who I am, where I come from, what my values are and so forth in a way that might not be true if I seemed more familiar.”

“And so what I think has been an approach [of] the McCain campaign is to say, ‘He’s risky,’” Obama continued.

Oh, and we are supposed to have a problem with that? Why? It’s the truth! Sorry, BO, but we are not in any position as a country to allow you to play on the job training. We need an accomplished leader. The only thing you’ve ever accomplished is loving yourself and throwing anyone who gets in your way under the bus. Give it up, we are not buying your illusions!

I remember 16 years ago (then 25) when I was taking night courses at Hunter College in Manhattan there were a lot of non-traditional students(not 18 to22) and I learned as much if not more from them than I did from profs or texts. In fact seniors in NYC can take classes for free and I think everybody wins.

No kidding! You know it’s one thing to be a two faced lying hypocrite living and yapping in a small apartment building, maybe people won’t catch on.
But, to be that kind of person on the world stage, is bizarre. Does he really believe that we’re all a bunch of idiots?

Oh… wait “stage” must be the operative… he must believe he’s acting in some surreal fictional play…

POTENTIAL TALKING POINT
————————————————-
I have just seen this posted on another website while I was searching for something else.

I have to say first that I have not read the Audacity of Hope and but I have seen clips of the audiobook. I cannot independently verify if this is in the book or not

Quote: (paraphrasing the book)

democracy cannot be imposed and democracy can only be the product of local revival,
as the counter campaign by Gandhi against Britain, the Solidarity Movement in Poland and the fight against racial discrimination in South Africa showed.

Obama points out that if democracy is imposed through methods similar to those applied in Iraq and through armed forces, totalitarian regimes can expose democracy as a system of exploitation in favor of external powers, and he condemns U.S. administrations’ support for totalitarian regimes.

Well as for the bold, then surely that is what the PUMAs represent?

There is lots more to talk about there, and someone needs to find the exact quotes, but why then does the chosen one and his advocates refuse a genuine democratic process? Well obviously because it is the only way he knows how to win, but what hypocrisy?

#73 Anna7000 on 08.02.08 at 8:43 pm

#77 chrissieD on 08.02.08 at 8:45 pm

I shared this a while back but I think it is worth repeating.
I was tending bar in downtown Pittsburgh there was a baseball game on so the sound was turned up. An Obama ad came on and I made an audible sound of disgust and muted the tv. There was one business man at the bar(50 to 60). I apologized to him. He said no need. We talked for awhile and he let me know that at the start of the campaign he was for anyone but Hillary.
But as the season progressed he gained a tremendous amount of respect for her and would vote for her in the GE if given the chance.

A German doctor said, ‘That’s nothing, we can take a lung out of one

A British doctor said, ‘In my country, medicine is so advanced that we

A Texas doctor, not to be outdone said, ‘You guys are way behind. We

I printed the posters from the Action Center on nice photo paper and they looked really wonderful. Where to put them? I seem to forget some at the counter every day when I go to the Post Office. I wonder when they will realize it’s me. Great documentary footage Murphy. It’s really exciting!

Murphy – what ever happened to the complaint book in TX? Did that person call security like I heard her say on the video? Loved the response of the person driving away in the car.

#129 MountainSong on 08.02.08 at 9:46 pm

Wow!!! Well, I hope I wasn’t one of the baaaad kitties talked about this morning.
That tape reflects the early stages of exactly what I was trying to get across earlier today about how close we are to martial law. And that there is far more to this ‘election process’ than we are currently seeing.
People were beginning to seriously worry about these things in the early 90′s and to prepare for such times.
In some of the more rural areas of Washington state, people seriously believe that if Obama is elected, one of the first things on his agenda will be to disarm America, and there are some towns where you can’t even buy a firearm because they have all been sold out.
Two weeks ago, a Vietnam veteran told me that a small predominantly christian community nort of where I live was sold out of weapons immediately after Obama declared himself winner of the primaries.
So I think there may be much more at stake here than the election. No matter who is nominated or elected.
It sure has me praying alot more than I’m used to.

#130 Anna7000 on 08.02.08 at 9:46 pm

Is there no more fake cash? Someone asked about this a couple of days ago.

Just got a request for money in the mail from the Obama campaign. Oh well. Maybe it’s even better to just mail the envelope back completely empty.

#139 MountainSong on 08.02.08 at 10:18 pm

That last caller was very sweet, but seemed rather naive to think that any of the groups will be able to enforce any demands at the convention. And to think we can somehow compel ‘them’ to respect and obey the laws and rules is also a bit absurd, considering how the DNP and Obama have already broken the rules with impugnity.
We are in a very serious predicament in this country. I think we have already passed the ‘back side of the curve’ so to speak and it’s going to require some drastic measures to restore our Democracy. We can talk til we are all blue in the face and never really change anything. They have nothing to fear from our words or rhetoric. IMHO

#140 Asian4Hillary on 08.02.08 at 10:20 pm

I’ve watch the video, it made me very angry at the same time it made me cry what happen to this country. This MUST be STOP by ALL thinking Americans who love this country. This is bigger than all of us combined. What is at stake here is DEMOCRACY. This beyond political affiliation! It doesn’t matter who you are, if you’re American who love this country and the American way of life, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED!

STAY STRONG PUMA, STAY FOCUS!

#145 MountainSong on 08.02.08 at 10:35 pm

Where the sweet optimism of youth collides with the dour cynicism of reality…….
I really dislike sounding pessimistic….but we thought we could convince the Bush administration, heck, even the Clinton administration before Bush, to follow the law and the rules over several issues, but they both just circumvented us by issuing ‘Executive Orders”, essentially making their own law.
Now, then, this is our dilemna—our votes simply don’t count, even if they are counted. They are symbolic at most. These powers that be couldn’t care less if we change party affiliation or what. And it would serve us well to remember the events surrounding the Democratic Convention in Chicago and the events surrounding civil unrest/protest at Kent State University.
Geez, I’m just too old not to feel a sense of sadness listening to hopeful optimism of youth on this blog radio.
At least people are beginning to finally wake up and realize what trouble this country is truly in.

#146 anonymous on 08.02.08 at 10:36 pm

#98 Pookie,

#147 MountainSong on 08.02.08 at 10:38 pm

#141 KENDALBLUE~~~~Sadly, being ‘right’ doesn’t feel very good.

#148 MountainSong on 08.02.08 at 10:44 pm

Seems like it might behoove us more to worried that we are on the very brink of the escalation of WW III. Our votes and those of the delegates are not going to do Jack as far affecting this convention, let alone stopping an attack on Iran.
I’m afraid we have gone full-circle back to the time just preceding the first shot of the American Revolution, the first one.
By the time anything is ‘resolved’ in court, this election will be in the Herstory books.

#149 StarDust on 08.02.08 at 10:47 pm

This Puma radio show is getting better and better every time it comes on and it started out GREAT!

#150 Lorelai on 08.02.08 at 10:53 pm

Hi everyone-been gone for a while today but wanted to respond to some Old Business from today’s thread.

mzebest- I agree with you about Jon Stewart – I think I was in denial that he had come back over to our side because I love him so much and I had missed watching him. So,when he wasn’t so blatantly pro-Obama, I read that as he was more balanced. You are correct….
I appreciate your thoughtful and deliberate analyzation about that. I guess I have to continue to give him up for a while.

Annay7000 – I love your old expression about you save one person, you save the world -
It’s like the Starfish story. There was a girl walking along the beach and she kept throwing back every starfish into the ocean that she saw washed ashore.
An old man stopped her and said, “What are you doing? Do you know how many starfish are washed ashore? You will never be able to make a difference. ”
The little girl responded: “It made a difference to that one”…..

Anyway, the radio show is great but I just got cut off from it for some reason…my computers are going nuts tonight…..
I have much work to still do for Puma this weekend. But thanks everyone for all your help and support. I’ll be hanging around awhile still tonight.
Oh, and the sad news is that I can’t go to the Convention. I will be on a vacation that we have waited two years to take, and if my husband doesn’t get away, I’m afraid he’ll have a heart attack.
Our rule on vacations is that we don’t read newspapers or watch the news. (Just lots and lots of books by the ocean)…. The only time I’ve broken that rule is when John Kennedy Jr.’s plane went down and he was killed.
The second time I will break this rule is for the Convention when I get to watch Hillary being named the nominee!

#151 maxgrader on 08.02.08 at 10:56 pm

Hi 1gypsy4mc.

Was just going over the previous thread and there you were at #38 with my pumaname on it.

I didn’t think anyone would read my post because it was too long… knew it the second I saw it. And as we all know the long ones, or tomes, get bypassed unless there is a real good “grabber” line leading off. I thought I had one with that bit about a fourth TV set. Maybe it wasn’t. I’ll just assume more agreed with me like you and then smile a little smile for me. :-)

You said: “We must have a link somewhere. I am such a strong believer in Democracy that I sometimes feel lost. It’s good to know that others feel as deeply as I do. Thank you.”

First away, you’re welcome. Secondly… for what? For just having a stand on off-shore drilling and advocating denial of reparations for descendants of slaves. Hey, lots of pumas think the same. From your post I got the feeling you and I were the only ones with such agreed opinions. And thirdly, what do you mean by “We must have a link somewhere”?

Makes me feel good when I can be of help to a fellow puma.

#152 MountainSong on 08.02.08 at 10:57 pm

Geez, if ‘majority rule’ ever meant anything, we would not have gone to war in Iraq.
What is being talked about on the radio show right now can only work if EVERYONE adheres to the rules. Which have already been broken. We shall soon see if the ‘process’ has been irreparably broken.
This woman talking now know what she’s talking about.

#153 MountainSong on 08.02.08 at 10:58 pm

#165 Anna7000 on 08.02.08 at 11:04 pm

152 mountain song – needless to say, we can’t “make” anyone do anything. when i get really frustrated and discouraged and worried i try to grab onto the long view of things. that is, while working toward a short term goal that i hope will happen, i also remember that i am part of a movement that has a history and a future and that this is one mark on the historical timeline. for me, at least, it keeps me going. i remember all the folks who have come before and all who will come after and know that while i can’t change anyone or make anyone do something or count on the outcome i hope for, i can count on the fact that my actions are part of a larger whole. that is for sure. i take great pride to know that the work we’re doing continues the spirit of our those who birthed this nation, the women who fought for civil rights, women’s rights, the right to vote, etc, battles that have been waged whereby it was the little people against the giants, and so forth.

meanwhile, if you have any ideas as to how we can MAKE howard dean do his job, do share! i’m open!!!

Fantastic radio show, Murphy…thanks to all the guests and callers!!!!

I think the DP is in for a big surprise…my feeling is that they don’t know how many and how committed this grassroots movement is…and it has a much larger and profound focus than just getting Hillary Clinton nominated.

How to get Howard Dean to do his job??? Well, I believe that even the most hardened criminals have and soul and I believe that if we approach him from a sense of honor and duty rather than attacking him personally…he might do the right thing. During the RBC meeting in May he actually admitted that there was sexism in the primary…so I do think he does have a
conscience..that’s what we need to appeal to.
Just MHO.

#193 Lorelai on 08.02.08 at 11:14 pm

Murphy – you really have morphed into quite the radio host – for the parts I could hear. And the video – WOW!

The truth shall prevail……thanks for shedding light on the truth that others would so easily blanket and shove away.

My thoughts on the Puma Movement. All of us are here to hold our communities “in trust” for the time we are on this earth. It is our responsibility to be stewards of our worlds (whether its environment, our neighborhoods, our historic buildings, or our democratic processes) while we are here- and then we pass the responsibility on to the next generation.
All Pumas are like board members holding our community in trust.
We are making a difference because we are not only NOt being silent, we are being strategic, wise and we have great leadership guiding us toward our preferred vision…not the vision the PODS would have us buy.
Thanks Murphy, Maryland PUma and MamaPuma….. and everyone else. (gratitude is my middle name)

Well… I’m happy to know that I didn’t offend you on the Jon Stewart comments. I totally understand how you may feel about him. I used to be a huge fan myself… but during this election cycle — he’s been increasingly disappointing. I will say that I still love the Cobert show, but I’m terribly disappointed that Jon Stewart hasn’t been more critical of Obama.

#197 RememberNovember on 08.02.08 at 11:15 pm

Re the comment at the end from Heidi Li about Howard Dean’s ability to put both their names in nomination. Is Dean technically, or even effectively, head of the DNC still or has Obama taken over?

#203 Amarissa on 08.02.08 at 11:17 pm

I ask this question: why should anyone like Hillary, who has proven to be a very capable and admired politician, remain a Democrat after all they have done and are still doing to her and her family? I mean there is no guarantee that even if Obama looses that they will respect her and back her for 20012! If I were in her shoes, I would kiss their behinds and not even look back to say goodbye!

#204 Gogandalf on 08.02.08 at 11:17 pm

Good evening all, Just got on. Great vid. :)
Missed the radio show, damn it.
Anyway, interesting weekend. All weekend long people were openly talking against “O’ and didn’t care who was listening. First time ever. A rising tide. Usually people are real quiet and look around to see who is listening before even beginning to criticize “O’. I do believe the tide has finally turned. :)

really great show. My FATHER watched/listened. he pretends to be tough, but he cried when Hillary gave her suspension speech. He tell me, okay so this is that PUMA group you keep talking about…well, where is that murphy girl you like so much….I had to tell him you were ON the radio. Retired doctor, not that computer literate. he thought the show was great though and his only comment was oh vey what will you do if she doesn’t win.

Keep fighting dad, keep fighting :)

#217 Anna7000 on 08.02.08 at 11:21 pm

gogandalf – by the way welcome and great name. murphy had images of fake money (like monopoly money) made up that folks could print out and use when we get requests for donations in the mail from the obama campaign, the dnc, or other candidates on our “no good” list (like pelosi). and, the money has hillary’s image in the center. quite clever and fun!

#164 Anna7000~~~It might be alot easier to view things from your perspective…..if I didn’t have a native american heritage. But my people have already witnessed the defeat of our ‘little people’ (and not so little) at the ‘hands of giants’. I guess it’s called ‘Manifest destiny’ or something like that and it’s not going to feel good to all people.

Now then, I think you did a fantastic job tonight, Murphy but you have been from the beginning. If there is such a thing as the ‘right person’ to galvanize people to successful action, it is you. I hope you hang in there and do not waver. Cuz I am just one of many who supports you in this magnificent endeavor.

I meant that we were thinking alike – “link”.

I don’t know how to explain my thoughts. I was called an extreme conservative today by an Obot because I want to preserve what is left of our democracy and to help turn it around. Just the idea that I would support anyone other than Bo was a disgusting thought to the Obot.

In Texas, the caucuses failed to represent the people’s vote. I’m here at PUMA because I saw what was happening and all the Hillary’s supporters were strong enough to go up against the Party. And I truly believe PUMA PAC will make a difference. Unfortunately, many of the same problems will still be in our government after the elections.

Where do we go from here?

If Bo wins he is advocating a private sector of national security. Anyone that has been overseas will know that he wants his own military members. His paid employees to control the people. I sure don’t want this.

#225 henry on 08.02.08 at 11:23 pm

Thank you for the link. I’ve said it for a long time if superdelegates make a mistake, McCain will be our next President. We know what extremism have done to our country (Bush), we don’t want to follow the same path. McCain is moderate and goes against his own party sometimes to stand up alone what is right for America, that man has testicular fortitude! That is rare to find in politics, standing up against your own party. As they said, loyalty to my party ends where loyalty to my country begins.

Murphy —

I have one question on the Audacity of Democracy video. It didn’t seem clear why the one woman was taking the books of complaints and whom did she give them to while in the car driving away? Was she a PUMA doing investigative work? Or was she working for the Obama camp? What exactly was the situation in that segment of the video?

Everyone will make their own decisions about whom to vote for. Many of us will vote for McCain, because a vote for him is like two against Obama. Some people will vote for other candidates.

Because not everyone on the blog supports voting for McCain, we try to stay away from influencing people. But hopefully, we can discuss some of the issues without generating arguments.

With regards to Eric Cantor R VA

McCain is vetting Cantor
By MIKE ALLEN & JONATHAN MARTIN | 8/2/08 8:34 PM EST Text Size:

The McCain campaign is vetting Rep. Eric I. Cantor (R-Va.) as a potential vice-presidential candidate, a campaign adviser told Politico on Saturday.

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine is a top running-mate prospect for Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), opening up the possibility of an all-Old Dominion, Kaine vs. Cantor vice-presidential debate.

Cantor, 45, has provided records to the running-mate search team of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the adviser said.

With a Southern lilt and that belies his talent for raw politics, Cantor is one of the nation’s most prominent Jewish Republicans, and has impressed the McCain team by becoming a prolific fund-raiser for the campaign.

A young fiscal conservative who could help keep Virginia from tipping blue, Cantor could also be an asset in such battlegrounds as Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio. He has shown appeal to the party’s base as well as to independents, and would be an unconventional choice at a time when McCain is looking to add excitement to his campaign.

“McCain needs to do something different,” said Chris LaCivita, a top Virginia Republican strategist. Citing his youth, ties to the business community, strong relationship with conservative activists and proven ability to raise money, LaCivita said Cantor “fits all the bills.”

The commonwealth, which has been reliably Republican in presidential races, has become more Democratic, making it a top target for Obama and a huge concern for McCain.

Cantor, who lives in suburban Richmond, would bring to the ticket a photogenic family and a track record of raising prodigious amounts of money from his own national network. On weekends, he travels constantly on behalf of Republican House candidates and the national party

Known on Capitol Hill as squeaky clean, Cantor has successfully campaigned and raised money in key states like Missouri, New Jersey and New York.

Mark Warner, the former Virginia governor and now Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Virginia, has said that Cantor was his toughest potential opponent. Cantor decided to stay in the House to continue rising the leadership ladder.

Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission and one of the nation’s most influential evangelical leaders, recently praised Cantor as a potential McCain running mate, calling him rock-solid on social issues—a huge concern for Christian conservatives with the maverick McCain at the top of the ticket.

Amid hothouse speculation throughout the party, Cantor joins a tiny list of Republicans known to be under real consideration by McCain. The Republican convention runs from Sept. 1-4.

Other contenders include former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Rob Portman of Ohio, former congressman, White House budget director and U.S. trade ambassador.

Cantor is a member of the House Republican leadership, chief deputy majority whip, and a member of one of the most coveted committees.

From his official biography: “Eric Cantor is a lifelong resident of the Richmond area. He got his start in politics as a student at George Washington University by interning for Congressman Tom Bliley in Bliley’s Washington office and serving as a driver on Bliley’s first re-election campaign. Eric received his law degree from The College of William and Mary and his Master’s degree from Columbia University in New York.

“While in New York, Eric met his wife Diana and brought her back to Virginia where they are currently raising three children, Evan, Jenna and Michael, who attend Henrico County Public

Statistically, the best chance of keeping Obama out if he’s the nominee is to vote for McCain. Third-party candidates never receive enough votes to win. At best, they become spoilers, as Ralph Nader was when Gore was running in 2000.

We are not merely “voters”…we are fighters. If we were just “voters” we’d just go to sleep until November. Pumas don’t do that. It’s not just about voting come November.

#311 antifish on 08.02.08 at 11:47 pm

Hummmm!

Overall, there are twice as many uncommitted voters at this point in Election 2008 as there were four years ago. An analysis released yesterday showed that there are more Democrats than Republicans in the uncommitted category, but that they are leaning more towards McCain than Obama.

middle aged female – didn’t know about that vp possibility. very interesting. where did you read about it, i’m very curious?

predicament – no one knows what the next moment will bring, even if we think signs point a certain way. everyone here finds various ways to stay motivated. after the convention, we will undoubtedly regroup and refocus, as needed. right now, we’re working to ensure we have a fair and legitimate convention. that’s plenty to worry about for the time being.

It is the policy of the blog that all members are free to vote their conscience in November depending on the results of the Denver Convention in August.

It is also our policy that members not overly-promote your personal choice or candidate.

This is not a pro-McCain blog. This is an anti-Obama blog.

Just a reminder.

It sure is beginning to feel like, based on the sheer size of the backlash support for Hillary after the fauz primaries (something like 326 different blog sites) that the DNC will really have no choice but to have Hillary’s name placed in nomination. There wont be much left of the Democratic Party if it isn’t done.

Thirty percent (30%) of conservative Democrats say they’re voting for John McCain. Rasmussen Reports data also shows the Republican hopeful picking up support from 19% of White Democrats and 15% of Democrats over the age of 50. These results are from national telephone survey interviews conducted with 14,000 Likely Voters during the two weeks ending July 24. The sample includes 5,074 Democratic voters.

Murphy,

Thank you for taking my call this evening. The point regarding the Oregon delegates being legally compelled to vote for their candidate is interesting. If the DNC disallowed a party to be place into nomination, then their delegates are unable to meet their (legal) obligation.

I also think those like Laney Davis who are saying “anything but another Republican” are short-sighted. An Obama administration has all the markers of an accident in the making. We could then loose the White House for many election cycles…not to mention the damage to race relations.

Democrats anxious for Obama to widen lead
By Edward Luce in Washington

Published: August 1 2008 20:08 | Last updated: August 1 2008 20:08

In 1980, Ronald Reagan asked voters whether they felt better off than four years earlier. He went on to defeat Jimmy Carter a few weeks later. On Friday Barack Obama raised the same question: “Do you think that you are better off now than you were four years ago or eight years ago?” he asked voters in Florida. “And if you don’t . . . do you think you can afford another four years of the same failed economic policies that we’ve had under George W. Bush?”

With unemployment on Friday jumping by 51,000 to take this year’s job losses to almost half a million, Mr Obama is mining a potentially rich seam. But a number of Democrats, including advisers to the Obama campaign, are worried that the Democratic party’s overall electoral advantage this year has not yet translated into comfortable leads for Mr Obama. On Friday Gallup showed Mr Obama just one point ahead of John McCain – a significant tightening in the past two weeks.

EDITOR’S CHOICE
In depth: US campaign 2008 – Aug-01Editorial comment: The running mate – Aug-01Republican angst over McCain strategy – Jul-30Obama Afghanistan policy criticised – Jul-31Obama holds bipartisan economy talks – Jul-29Editorial comment: Worldly success for Obama – Jul-25Mr McCain’s improving fortunes have coincided with a strikingly negative turn in his campaign’s tactics, with the launch last weekend of an advertisement criticising Mr Obama for failing to visit wounded soldiers when he was in Germany because the Pentagon refused to permit the media to accompany him. That allegation has since been debunked.

But the signs are that Mr McCain’s continuing attacks – most recently in a commercial that portrayed Mr Obama as a vapid celebrity against images of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears – may be striking a chord with the white working class voters who shunned Mr Obama so emphatically in many of his primary contests with Hillary Clinton.

With just one month to go before Labour Day – the traditional beginning of the general election – and only three weeks before the Democratic convention, many Democrats fear that time is running out for Mr Obama to overcome the suspicions of this key swing vote.

I think VP picks are going to be very telling. The right one might be all it takes for McCain to take off. VP for either party will have to be able to assume command.
Obama could be impeached and McCain could die in office.
I can also imagine that, being such a newcomer, the pressures and stress must really be getting to Obama which is why he’s acting so irrational and hopefully he will really do something to blow it more, while McCain is seasoned enough to have a laid back watch n see attitude.

GREAT SHOW, MURPHY!!

I emailed the link for “Audacity of Democracy” to all the contacts in the address books of my email addresses (approximately 500 addresses).

Here’s the review from the editor of The City Paper in San Francisco:

“Thank you. Hope the finished copy is going to hit all networks.”

In all honesty I don’t remember the sender of this next email, except that he works for a newspaper. Still, he seemed appreciative of the info.

“Thanks for the info. Just so you know, the Clinton folks did the same thing. Be sure to remember, Obama and Clinton are not equal to their supporters. You can’t hold them liable for how their supporters act. The same happened on both sides and it’s wrong, but you can expect that in a close election. It’s unfortunate, but true. Once again, thanks! “

I know there was the recent Op-Ed piece by Jon Voight (sp?) and Alec Baldwin has threatened to move out of the country if Obama gets elected (though Baldwin always threatens that). It’s wierd. You’d think they’d be more visible. Hopefully they haven’t all fallen under the spell. Too bad the celebrities who support Clinton don’t form a pac. They could raise serious money AND get media attention in a heart beat.

#413 MountainSong on 08.03.08 at 12:32 am

Between Obama and all the misogynistic sexism on TV, I just might be charged with assault on an inanimate object by morning.
So, I think I’ll turn it off. And maybe just go to bed so Ion’t have to think, talk about, or look at Obama for awhile.
Good night everyone. May you all be blessed with peace, happiness and all good things in life. I’m out.

Anna7000- I agree….Where are they? Are they afraid and feeling Hollywood threatened if they take a political stance? Did not know that John Voight or Alec Baldwin
made those statements.
Would help if Brangelina would make that statement and follow in her father’s footsteps….But,she hates him so much that she would disagree with him just to disagree with him!…..I can’t believe they’ve fallen under the spell….they’re too used to seeing through the b.s.everyday in their business!

Most of my contacts have accumulated in during the last year.

I’ve been writing emails/letters in support of Hillary since the beginning of the primaries. I usually wrote to smaller newspapers. I was also on several online Hillary support groups during the primaries.

I think my “friends” contact list is less than 10.

Hillary Plots, Eyes 2012 Bid

Friday, August 1, 2008 11:40 AM

By: Rick Pedraza Article Font Size

With hopes of being chosen as Barack Obama’s vice-presidential running mate dashed, Hillary Clinton has begun the process of carving out her political future.

The New York Post reports Clinton met earlier this week at a secret ladies-only dinner in Washington to discuss where she can go from here.

After learning she would address the Democratic National Convention on its second night traditionally not the night the vice presidential nominee would speak Clinton reportedly gathered her female posse together to discuss a possible White House run in 2012.

The get-together included some of the top women in Democratic politics, like California Sen. Dianne Feinstein; founder of Emily’s List Ellen Malcolm; California Rep. and chair of the New Democrat Coalition Ellen Tauscher; and former Recording Industry Association of America CEO Hilary Rosen, who’s now political director of the Huffington Post.

“You could say Hillary met with her homegirls, one insider tells The Post. They’re all very powerful and important women. It’s highly unlikely they were plotting anything around the VP spot because Hillary knows Barack Obama isn’t going to pick her. They were probably planning her future.”

Jay Carson, a spokesman for Clinton, did not respond to calls or e-mails from the media, however a representative for Feinstein said, “It was a personal dinner. They had a couple of glasses of California wine, but the content of the meeting is going to remain between them.”

star dust – i know you were being very genuine in your comment about money and donating. i didn’t mean at all to suggest you weren’t or to minimize what it’s like to be struggling. there had just been a roll of comments between dances and a few others about the fake money, so i was still in that mode. i also have extremely limited finances and it sucks. i’d love to be able to be someone who could write checks without a second thought, but i can’t. hardly anyone can. murphy is incredible at understanding that. truly understanding, while needing money. it’s one of many of her gifts the way she balances many different kinds of things. pretty amazing.

sunny pa – ok, glad to know i’m not some kind of anti social wierdo that my address book doesn’t have 500 contacts! i was also writing e-mails and letters like crazy all year, both to friends and newspapers. it’s so wierd to think how so many of us were living in a kind of parallel universe, only to come together here under these strange circumstances.

The Documentary trailer shows cheating that I have only read about or seen in movies. From the distance of a reader or viewer, it seemed shameful. But to see it through real living persons’ experiences takes it beyond shame…takes it into sin.

Great Video Murphy !!
It got me fired up to hand out flyers in NY tomorrow.
I am at a trade show tomorrow – and lots of exhibitors will have one of them flyers in their booth tomorrow.

Hey, if any of you that got the printed Obama posters and have not finished handing them out, find out if any Pumas want them. Some folks may need them more than others.

I will be sleuth sending out emails about this video too.
If anyone has an email address book, think about sending out an email to all your friends and contacts. We need more people to get involved in PUMA. I’ve been quite blatant about asking people who they are voting for. If they are against Obama, they get a nice poster and most of them usually want to help pass them out.

#455 OhOHIO on 08.03.08 at 2:05 am

The video looks great Murphy. I don’t know how you and the rest of the crew do it, but you’re in there pitchin’ that’s for dang sure. Anyway, just one quick comment before sleep, and hopefully I can, because there is much to be thought about on this blog and watching all these videos. We’ve talked about how biased the media are and there doesn’t seems to be any that are unbiased. But AOL has a straw poll for our choice for President. And last week, it was the widest margin ever between BO and McCain. Last week was 70% McC. to 40% BO. This week it is 64% McC. to 36% BO. But I just don’t really believe it because of the bad press BO has been getting lately. People are beginning to wake up. But I wonder if AOL is going to start showing their biases now that it is getting closer to the convention.??

Hillarious!! Move-on should save itself some time and just shoot two commercials at once, one for the flip position and one for the flop position.

“hahahahahaahaha! I wonder if they’ll pull the ad now that “The One” has flip flopped on them? Will they produce another ad that mentions both McCain and Obama? Absolutely HILARIOUS! You see, MoveOn.org lost all of their credibility when they endorsed Obama over Hillary even though she’s the one who stood up for them when it mattered most.” — Sugar

Good Morning Puma’s :-)

The Gallup Poll continues to show McCain and Obama tied at 44%.

There is an interesting article about the Electoral College and a tie, entitled “Tie goes to Obama” at Politico;
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0708/11887.html

We all know this is suppose to be a democratic year, it was a given that a democrat would win hands down. Yet ever indication suggests a major struggle for Obama. From all indications there will be a continued battle for Obama, it is only going to get worse.

McCain hasn’t even started to really campaign yet. I am willing to bet McCain and the RNC are just waiting for the convention to end before they start really campaigning.

Did anyone but me see the latest Obama flip flop? First he was against off shore oil drilling, now he is for it! The McCain campaign says that this shows that McCain is the real leader, and that Obama is the follower. I agree. This is the same thing we saw in the primary: When your opponent scores points against you, move to their side of the agrument. That way you quiet the argument, and you look like the winner. (Except to those who are really watching.)

Will the REAL Obama please stand up? Oh, I forgot, he is a Public Relations Firm created Hologram.

#493 Henerietta on 08.03.08 at 8:40 am

Is there a place where we can access testimony about the irregularities in the election that were committed by Obamaites?

This Obama fever is a sickness that has the potential of destroying our country. I am glad that McCain is fighting back before the convention. I was afraid he would hold his fire until after the nomination was a sure thing. When the Race Card was played against him, he fought back.

We might note here that I have long believed Hillary was reigned in many times by the DNC. When she was accused of being racist, she was not allowed to fight back. McCain has no DNC rules and oversight. He can do what Hillary didn’t feel she could do without making a rift in the party.

Reading through all the posts many seem to be coming across circumstances at the Barnes & Noble store locations in trying to pruchase the Obama Nation book. I purchased mine online, which means a wait. Yet it has shipped. I can’t wait to read it.

Complaints at stores may provide some success, but many people are likely just giving up and walking out the sotre’s door without the book. I’ll to redo the money as a jpeg.

I set the left margin to the extreme left of the page, because, after cutting many sheets with a paper cutter, I wanted to omit one cut (on the left) to make it easier and to save time. If you move the margin, as Bill said, the bills will show in their entirety. Again, the jpeg will take care of that problem.

By the way, good morning. :)

#497doria….I wanted to post a witty remark about the Dowd article but I must be too tired because all I can think of is ” I’d like to punch her in her face!”

#504 Pookie on 08.03.08 at 10:26 am

maureen Dowd is one of those people where you apply this saying:

You need to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. LOL

#505 tadgher99 on 08.03.08 at 10:34 am

497 Doria,

I wrote the following in response, it is in moderation.

2008 10:29 amThis article is a perfect example of a smarmy elitest trying to blackmail us into voting for Obama. If you don’t vote for Obama you are racist Dowd strongly implies. This same technique was used during the primaries and I am insulted by it. Why bother having an election if we must have Obama as president or we are all racist? Let us just put him in the Whitehouse, issues don’t matter!

I have spoken to many, many voters who were upset that Hillary has not been chosen as nominee and yet have never heard any one of them say they would never vote for a man as president again! It is Dowd’s attempt to make anyone against the election of Obama to be either a loony or a racist. This only makes my resolve stronger to NOT vote for him knowing the kind of people supporting him. The NY Times used to be such a good paper, I don’t know what is going on over there.

Liberty Puma – you asked if there was any good news – I think this is good news from Rasmussen Polling:
McCain leads in following States – Alaska 44-39 – Texas – 50-41 – Kentucky – 49-39 Montanta 45-44 – Nebraska 50-32 Mississippi – 52-41 – just a few polls this past week

#507 Gogandalf on 08.03.08 at 10:48 am

A few more McCain States that were taken a couple of weeks go – Rasmussen Polls – Missouri – 49-44 -Alabama – 49-36 Utah – 52-33 – North Carolina 47-43
Kansas – 52-32

Sunday morning shows- Kerry , Pelosi, and Daschle out front for Obama. Surely he has less harmful spokeperson. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when he brings out the same old elitist and defensive people.

They finally took my comment out of moderation on the Maureen Dowd article. Following is my comment:

Hillary is our only choice….Obama was SELECTED by the DNC…not ELECTED!!!

Maybe the delegates at the convention will wake up and see that the empty suit Obama is going to fall like a rock in the November Election!!!!!

#511 Gogandalf on 08.03.08 at 10:56 am

Finally not to bore this active audience – Rasmussen reports – McCain – Georgia 48-39 North Dakota – 45-42

BO leads by a very slight margin in Ohio – 46-44 – Florida 46-44 Nevada 42-40 and Virginia 46-44

One more mistake of his and those will flop for sure – now I will leave you along with all this world of information that you can use at a cocktail party LOL

#512 gojoyknocks on 08.03.08 at 10:58 am

Gogandalf…. Welcome! Glad you found this site . Great place for links and info. It’s been very useful in my quest to save the nation.

#513 Gogandalf on 08.03.08 at 11:00 am

Thank you Gojoyknocks –

I am thinking that those States that No Name is losing – we should have a concentrated effort to get those superdelegates to change their mind and go for Hillary at the convention – lots of States to choose from above

#514 Gogandalf on 08.03.08 at 11:01 am

Gojoyknocks – like my name – those of us at HRC used the Go in front of it so that we would recognize each other – what was your name at HRC – mine was Gandalf

Hi all, I already posted this on The Confluence, but I wanted you all to know that my sister and I met up with another Puma for a prowl in W. Stockbridge, MA yesterday.

We were protesting the Dean fundraiser for Obama at a fancy private home in the Berkshires. We wore Puma shirts and planted a half-dozen Hillary signs in succession en route to the event.

Some people drove past, honked, smiled, waved, gave thumbs up, and yelled, “She’s still our gal!” Only two cars yelled: 1) “Who wants a woman to be president?” (Idiots) And, 2) “No way!” and gave thumbs down. (No surprise from Bully Bots.) A few decent folks with Obama stickers on their Benz waved politely.

One angry woman pulled up alongside and said, “You guys aren’t helping! We can’t let McCain win.” Frankly Scarlett, we don’t want to help Obama! That’s why we were out there! Actual democracy is what we’re fighting for.

Overall, it was good to see that Hill still has a lot of supporters! Especially from the non-elite locals. They know the election has been stolen. They know the entire Dem Convention is a sham. It’s a regular circus with a ringmaster (Axelrod), dog-and-pony show (Barky and SDS), tons of freaks, and an audience paying to attend and be entertained by tricks and illusion. My stomach turns, thinking of Hill having to sit through that crap. But she’ll rise above it as usual. Our work is the real work, and it’s only beginning!

Way to go Revgirl – and thanks for sharing

While reading this article I can’t help but nod my head in agreement with the writer. He nailed NOBAMA to a T.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/08/obamas_place_in_the_annals_of.html

The Audacity of NOBAMA is backfiring, people are seeing him for what he is – EMPTY SUIT. His canned speeches are now hollow, his love affair with teleprompters is biting him with gusto. His pandering and crying for wolf is now down the tube, Nobama is staring down the abyss.

#519 lotts1948 on 08.03.08 at 11:20 am

#518-Asian4Hillary…

and maybe, just maybe his lying tongue will slip up and push him over!!!!

Everybody says he looks tired.. well, no wonder, if you are flip-flopping day after day, you’d get tired too…

looking for substance… good luck to anyone who tries!!!

#520 revgrl on 08.03.08 at 11:20 am

A foreign woman (sounded E. European) also stopped and said, “It’s such a loss. They’ll never let her win. It’s shameful.”

Another man who said he was from Armenia said, “It’s over, isn’t it?” But once we talked, he added, “I too am familiar with political struggle in my country. I understand, and I wish it would be her too. Good luck.”

So much for No-Bo’s “successful” European tour!

I went to Dowd’s article and read it but found it too rediculous to comment on. Does she always write like that? The press is putting out alot of trash. I guess they do not worry about credibility anymore.

I am having a good time on the Huffy post. It is hard to find anyone these days who will really give you an argument in favor of Obama. Check it out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-tomasic/clinton-calls-for-cathart_b_116482.html

I’ve talked to my friend yesterday living in in Holland, they were surprised Hillary is not the nominee. They’ve read NOBAMA was selected, his comment was, “if America is the beacon for democracy, how can the world believe it when the democratic party do not believe in democracy?”

#523 DancesWithPumas on 08.03.08 at 11:26 am

Asian4Hillary

This line made me chuckle:
“… as Benjamin Disraeli described William Gladstone, “a sophistical rhetorician inebriated with the exuberance of his own verbosity.”

My world is upside down when I’m looking to Fox for fair and balanced, agreeing with George Will, and thinking about voting for a Republican for President!

“Go ask Alice… I think she knows…”

Hope Murphy was able to sleep in a bit this morning. She must be exhausted from all she does…the film, the blog, the radio show….and she has a family..WOW.

A reminder to go out to Noquarter to sign the petition and fill out the Virtual Platform that John was talking about on the radio program last night… per Murphy in a post above:

“please do visit iownmyvote.com to sign the pledge and to noquarterusa.net to vote on the virtual platform — the only we can affect the platform is if we participate virtually. We’ve been shut out in our neighborhoods. Let’s make a big statement.”

You have to sign the petition first (on top of page)….and then go to the right sidebar to the Virtual Platform …I agreed wholeheartedly with all the points.

Go vote now:

Just viewed the documentary video. It’s excellent! Great job Murphy & Co.! Can’t wait to see the whole thing! :) Really got my blood boiling, though…

Not good to do first thing Sunday morning, especially since at the time Nancy P. Nonsense was on George Stenopoulus spouting her twisted, illogical totalitarian views on energy management. “Release the reserves now.” – Nancy’s brillant solution. NOT! What a stupid, short-sighted assinine proposal! Why doesn’t she just get in her time-warp machine and go back to the 70′s and the “do-nothing despite the crisis” era she’s never left behind!

manipulation, harassment, blackmail,etc

Re: “The Obama Nation” book not being on the shelves at Barnes & Noble.

Another suggestion (besides calling corporate HQ’s to complain about lack of display of the book) may be to call the publisher and tell them book is not being shelved. I’m sure they wouldn’t be too happy about the bookstore staff holding back potential sales.

#514 Gogandalf Re: super delegates…I’ve been working on my own personal SD since April. A HRC suppoter now into the unity thing. Yesterday I was at his house preparing for a party wearing my puma shirt(8th day in a row) talking with the SD when his wife came in with a present for me. She had a s. e. grin on her face so I said,” If there is an Obama shirt in that bag I’m going to stab you with these scissors.” She laughed and said “We know your not ready for that yet” In the bag was a bumper sticker that read Democratic women are the life of the party and a pair of socks with donkeys and the word DEMOCRAT. “We want you to remember who you are “she said . I replied without missing a beat “Oh, I know who I am, it’s the Marxist DNC that have forgotten who the democrat party is”. By the time I’m through they’ll be marching with puma in Denver

Where shall we go
When the world turns dark and stops spinning
Will we try to find the light
Or will we follow the jester to the end of days?

Will we seek peace
Or will we follow the deceitful one into darkness?
The jester lies to become king
And the world fauns at his feet in awe.

The Lady who should rule
Is cast aside for the jester calls her a witch.
The silver tounged Jester
Has betrayed the people with his deception.

Will he wear an iron crown
Or will he allow others to make him a puppet?
Will we let him win
Or will we cast the serpent jester out?
