GREAT letter but for it to get published in newspapers it does need to be cut and edited.
One TIP: For every thought/idea expressed, for every paragraph, ask, “How can I convey this in a more concise way? What can I cut out (or express more succinctly) while still retaining the meaning I want to express? Am I rehashing any point?
I’ll post more guidelines from my research and experience.

200 words max, usually. The more they have to edit, the less control you have of what gets printed.
Read other letters in papers to learn.
Start with (and maintain focus on) your most important point.

Thank you Super Delegates!
This year is an historic election year. Your role as a Super Delegate has become central to the outcome of the nomination process. It cannot be easy listening to your own voice, experiencing pressure from candidates and the party, while also responding to a wave of communication from individuals like myself who want to participate in this democratic process and have their voices heard. Thank you for taking the time and having the heart to read my letter, as I can imagine it is one in many you’ve received over these many months. Thank you for embracing the awesome role you play in this historic election and for giving my voice a space in which to be heard.
If you are a Clinton supporter, I’m counting on you to vote for her at the convention. If you are an Obama supporter, or if you are undecided, I respectfully ask you to carefully consider my points below.
Experience and Voting Record: Obama avoided controversial issues as a state senator by frequently voting “present”. He ignored the plight of impoverished families living in deplorable conditions in public housing that his friend and supporter Tony Rezko owned. He has precious little experience on the national or international stage. His term in Congress has been a year long since he has been campaigning for President since his first year. He has not spearheaded any meaningful legislation, nor does he have a record of reaching across the isle and finding common ground in order to move legislation through.
Pattern of Disturbing Relationships, Going Back on His Word, and Misrepresenting Himself: Barack Obama has a track record of affiliating himself with highly questionable characters, including criminals and terrorists. Once exposed, Obama either minimizes the relationship or claims innocence. In addition, he has a breathtaking array of situations where goes back on his word. In 1996, he broke his commitment to Alice Palmer. In 2006, he made a commitment to the American people not to run for President, citing lack of experience, then proceeded to run for President. Most recently, within a matter of weeks, he shifted his position on several issues including campaign finance reform, abortion, gun control, Iraq troop withdrawal and FISA, while also embracing Bush’s faith based initiatives. Obama’s voting record does not line up with his rhetoric and his rhetoric keeps changing. Ironically, he does not take responsibility when he should, while exhibiting a propensity to claim credit for achievements and responsibilities that aren’t his to claim.
Media and DNC Behaviors: The media had a double standard regarding how they treated Obama and Clinton, giving Obama a free pass on countless issues that deserved scrutiny. And when scrutinized, Obama often scolds the media for doing so. The DNC disenfranchised millions of voters, gave Obama votes that had never been cast for him and most recently stripped a pledged delegate for Clinton of her delegate status.
This election should be a no-brainer. We don’t nominate individuals with one year of experience in Congress with the kind of history Barack Obama has. It is simply not done, and for good reason. Let’s not start now.
In contrast, Senator Clinton has spent 35 years dedicating her life to public service. She has an impressive grasp of national and international policy. She has a Congressional track record of legislative achievement, reaching across the isle to get things done and holding her ground when necessary. She has a brilliantly articulated platform and has garnered support from all quarters. She won the popular vote. She won the key states Democrats must win in order to win in the general election. She won when she was outspent by Obama many times over. She won despite a relentless onslaught of negative media that was not deserved. She won without the DNC speaking out when she was the victim of repeated expressions of misogyny. She has been vetted and survived. And, as if that wasn’t enough, she doesn’t have a history of befriending violent characters.
Resist group think. Do the right thing. Support Hillary Clinton for President.

I attended a fundraiser for Hillary in Los Altos Hills, California yesterday afternoon. While she talked positively of Obama, her heart definitely was not in it (and the mostly Hillary crowd was not receptive to the unity concept). Hillary mentioned being placed in nomination, and indicated that there were still talks with the DNC and the Obama campaign. She indicated that it would be for the best of the party if she were put in nomination to provide legitimacy to the process. She also thought that there would less of a rift in the Democratic Party if the nomination process was seen as clear and transparent.

I appreciate your strategic thinking. However, I think that most of us have so relatively little money to give that it won’t make much difference to McCain’s campaign in the least. So, I’d say, let’s keep our small pot of change local and not worry about McCain. But, that’s just my opinion. He needs tens of milions of dollars, which I don’t think we have. Plus, don’t get too worried. While McCain isn’t doing as well in the fundraising arena as Obama is, the GOP has A LOT more money than the Democrats to pour into McCain’s campaign.

Just had lunch with my friend. She was an Edwards supporter but not sure now. She probably won’t vote Mcain. I gave her all the reasons I had not to vote Obama. She doesn’t want to vote for him but is for the party. She was also shocked that having Hillary’s name in nomination at the convention was an issue. She said that is how it works as the whole idea behind the convention is to nominate. It was a long lunch and discussion. She would vote for Hillary for sure. Now I hae to get her involved here. That will be another lunch.

I do not believe he is a US Citizen but a citizen of Kenya. I also believe that during the campaign before Clinton dropped out when his passport was compromised, that they switched or destroyed documents. Remember how Bush had a lot of his AWOL documents disappear. According to Kitty Kelly who wrote about about him, she said all documents were supposedly burned in a fire.
I called US Atty in Chicago today again (Patrick Fitzgerald’s office) and spoke to a paralegal and asked when they were going to indict Obama in the Tony Rezco matter. Of course, they couldn’t disclose that. I said if you’re going to do it, it needs to be done now to save our country. I also called the IL Bar Association about his lying on his application. She told me they had no complaints against him but did I want to make one. I do know, however, that someone recently filed a complaint and it may not yet be in the system. He lied because he didn’t disclose he used drugs and also about some outstanding ticket warrants against him. Lying is a felony.
The way Hillary is acting, I don’t think she will allow her name to be put in nomination and, if she does, I think after the vote she will release her delegates. She just doesn’t seem like a woman on a mission for 2008. IMHO.

The letter is too long to re-type here but I wanted to let the Pumas know that our local, small paper printed the letter written by this state organizer. She hit on so many of the points PUMA makes.
I really liked her ending paragraph which I will re-type here: “Democracy is fragile. We have begun to accept the fact that we no longer use ‘fair reflection’ in our voting process. One person, one vote is becoming a thing of the past under the Democratic Party bosses. If we are to preserve Democracy as we know it, we must all stand up to Howard Dean and the DNC. The New York Daily News published a negative story full of the usual “unnamed sources close to” quotes saying HIllary had ‘asked not to be placed in nomination.’
Alegre called the campaign and they denied it. Someone else who was at a fundraiser said HIllary said just the opposite, and here is a video to prove it.

Originally it was labeled an event to help pay down her debt but some how it morphed into a unity event. there were about 10 Pumas that I know for sure but I’m sure there were more. #124 I have heard the video several times, in response to someone saying that she could win by a narrow margin, she said “that’s not going to happen” and what she wanted was for “Sen Obama to be nominated by a unified party.” ” And when a delegate said there was a petition that could be signed to put her on the ballot, she said: “I think you can understand that I don’t have total control over this process.” What I want to know is SHE going to sign on to have her name placed in nomination? If she doesn’t do that, then the roll call will be purely symbolic.

As the old saying goes, “Don’t talk about politics or religion.” I suppose this is said because we feel so impassioned about our views. For someone to be open and listening during such sensitive discussions seems to be the exception and not the rule. So, with that in mind, ask yourself:
· Is it ok to nominate for President of the United States a man with virtually no experience on the national or international stage?
· Do you find that it is in line with your moral standards that we nominate someone who found it acceptable to remain an active member of a church that espoused not only hateful rhetoric, but which elevated Louis Farrakhan to great heights, Farrakhan having gone on record as thinking Hitler was a “great man”.
· Is it fine with you that we nominate an individual who has a history of associating himself with a coterie of criminals and/or terrorists?
· And, if the above is alright with you, is it also ok that the man we nominate minimizes or claims innocence about these relationships?
· Are you comfortable with nominating someone who has shifted their position on so many issues in such a short amount of time that it is unprecedented for a Presidential candidate?
· Can you ignore the fact that we nominate a person who, as a state senator, avoided controversial issues by voting “present” a disproportionately frequent number of times?
· Do you care if we nominate someone who, as a state senator, ignored the plight of impoverished individuals and families, most of whom were African American, living in deplorable, sub-standard housing conditions in his congressional district?
· Should the above be alright with you, is it also ok that the nominee would have befriended the very person who was the slumlord of those housing units, and that he should accept seed money from this now convicted criminal in order to kick start his campaign?
· Do you feel it shows integrity to make a commitment to an adored colleague and friend by the name of Alice Palmer and then break your word, obliterating her name from the ballot?
· Are you comfortable with a nominee who professes to stand for change while reversing his decision on crucial issues like FISA and off shore drilling, while also expressing a desire to expand Bush’s faith-based initiatives?
· And what of nominating a man for President who during a press conference after winning his senate seat, tells the press corps and the American public, that he will not run for President, citing lack of experience, who then proceeds to run for President?
If you answered “no” to any of these questions or had even a murmur of self-doubt, TODAY, you can be exceptional by doing the thing we humans find it hard to do – reassess our positions, face challenging discrepancies between our values and our positions, and show unusual courage and bravery by privately and then perhaps openly acknowledging that a mistake has been made and a new day is here.

As you have been trying to contact the media today, I have done the same, in France of course, but I think it is important for the French to keep informed and to know about your movement and what you want to do at the Denver convention.
There are some good news from here too :
-I’ve been busy all day contacting again the French press : I’ve left comments on many, many blogs to speak about Pumas and the Denver Convention. What I’ve noticed for the first time is that the French themselves are starting to write quite negative messages about Obama. This is something I had never seen before : there are more and more people who criticize his candidacy and think that he will NEVER be elected !
- In the French press too, reports and analysis have become much more critical since Obama left Europe last week. If you are interested, I’ve just made a review of the French newspapers’ headlines over the last few days on my blog (in French and in English of course) : you’ll see that the tone has totally changed ! ! !

She also stated many times that she has done more for Obama than any other candidate in the same position in the same time period. My take is: She is saying she is doing all she can for Obama because they can’t blame her when he loses. I really trust Hillary and I know in my heart she will do what is right. Obama is sinking so people aren’t even listening to her. The DNC tried to make Obama into a winning candidate however it is backfiring because he is just an empty suit. Hope this all makes sense.

I attended the Democratic Convention Platform Committee meeting today in Cleveland. Here’s my report:
Ack, what a day. I knew something special was going on when I saw the Federal Police cars parked around the hotel. There were maybe 75 people in the audience, many of whom were presenting testimony to the committee. The audience was about 10% AA.
Gov. Napolitano started the meeting off by declaring, “…we are here to set the platform for the Convention where the next president will be nominated. Barack Obama.” Well, I knew right away I wasn’t going to be enjoying myself. Gov. Napolitano informed us that in the last 10 days, 1600 platform meetings had been held in all 50 states where individuals provided information relative to deciding on the convention platform. (This was news to me. I hadn’t heard of any meetings taking place. Of course, I’m not on nobama’s email list.) The platform draft will be presented next week in Pittsburgh.
Today, representatives of various groups gave testimony to the committee. A prearranged set list. Topics covered were Energy/Economy, Health Care, Foreign Policy, Education, Civil Rights, Retirees, Women, Crime, and Farming. I developed a headache and had to leave before the Retirees, Women, Crime, and Farming presentations. I have copies of the handouts given to committee members of all the other testimony.
There wasn’t any chance to interact with committee members because of the prearranged list of persons giving testimony. So, at the break, I tried to ask Gov. Napolitano a question but she buzzed right by me saying, “I need to use the restroom.” I did corner Mayor Coleman to ask if the convention would be open, fair and legitimate and allow Sen. Clinton to be nominated. His response sickened me. He said, “The convention will be open and fair. I don’t know if Sen. Clinton being nominated would be fair” before he walked away.Yep, so now it wouldn’t be FAIR for Hillary to be nominated at the convention. No wonder I developed a headache and had to leave shortly thereafter.

I can’t go tomorrow or Sunday so I hope someone else will be able to make it. It sounds like they will take testimony from the audience tomorrow.

I just heard this man again tonight on H&C. His book, which sounds well annotated, apparently focuses a lot on BO’s upbringing. But he also mentioned this fact, which I had forgotten (I have done so much research on BO, I forget what I already know). Before Reverend Wright went to TUCC, he was a Black Muslim. I read in a post a while ago that the DNC had picked the best black candidate on purpose knowing full well of the division it would cause. But I disagree. There are many far better black candidates who could have been chosen but they are smart and would not be good puppets. BO is a Stepford candidate. He is someones puppet, like Bush. He was chosen for appearances and willingness to conform to the puppet masters agenda. I’m a subscriber to Army Times and Air Force Times and a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran (1967-68) who worked with U.S. Navy Sea bees in the Chu Lai area and on Cu Lao Re Island. Is it true that Sen.Obama has replaced the American flag on his plane with his own campaign symbol? This story is making a lot of vets unhappy and we think Navy Times should cover the story and ask why a presidential candidate would diss the flag that way. I have no doubt that Sen. McCain and Sen. Clinton would never do such a thing. In fact, I doubt any other presidential candidate of either political party would do such a thing.
As a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant I am outraged to see a U.S. Presidential candidate flying around in foreign countries with what looks like a scoop of ice cream on some hot coils instead of the American Flag.

sorry i didn’t post about cindy sheehan a couple of days ago. i contacted her campaign (her sister dede is the manager) about who she supported. figured i’d better find out if she supported obama before throwing my support behind her. but, as one could predict, she supports third party candidates and views all the major party candidates as pretty much the same in that they’ve been bought by big money (which is probably true). but, at least she doesn’t support obama.

Listen, we already know Obama’s PLOYS. He puts out an ad that is filled with lies, like in PA–remember? And then his opponent is FORCED to call him on the lies with a response ad. It wastes the money of his opponent, and THEN, he and his camp finesse it to seem like it’s an attack ad against HIM, even though he lies.
I think the McCain camp has studied him, and they know how he operates. So, they waited.
I hate to say this, but their recent onslaught of web/ tv ads is the right thing to do. I know it seems like the low road, but they have to finish off this BS Messiah image, this BS celebrity image. They are cutting the fat to get to the substance, and they are arguing substantive issues such as oil and war.
McCain catches my attention when he talks about global warming. He and his camp will “inspire” a tad later on. They have to mow the grass for the field to be even, ya know?

I am very concerned about Israel and cannot support any candidate who doesn’t support our ally. Whether Obama is Muslim or not, I can’t really say. HE says not. But he says lots of things.And I don’t trust him at all.
Apparently our military doesn’t I do believe there are powers that exist that are on top of all this and that it will all be alright in the end, but appearances need to be kept up awhile longer. either. As I’ve said before, Tashunka Witko is a role model to me and he didn’t trust certain people either.

But it is clear from the way they tried to sell him after Hillary suspended what they think women want. First they put MO in Vogue, do you know any women who read vogue cause I don’t. Then they put MO on “the View”, all the women I know work, paid or unpaid, while the view is on. Clearly we were supposed to think the Obamas were an attractive family, MO was supposed to be someone we could relate to because of her professional credentials and her kids and We were supposed to find BO attractive and flock to the DNCs Hillary alternative. Well that has been a miserable failure with women most of whom don’t even realize that BOites were trying to win them over with this crap. Then the “white guilt” thing the DNC was counting on which clearly works with the chattering class does not work with most whites because most whites are middle to lower class, their families had nothing to do with slavery and no voice in government and they have no reason to feel guilty. I also agree that BO comes off looking like a wimp to west coast eyes because we apparently have a different standard of masculinity. Kerry had the same problem. He tried to solve it by going hunting in an outfit that was obviously never worn before and too trendy to be real. I still say BO is a Stepford candidate and the people who picked him are really out of touch with women and middle to lower class whites and people who don’t live on the East coast.

It wasn’t so much that he was mentioning Hillary in terms of VP, it was that her name was mentioned at all! It’s almost as though no one is even allowed to utter the “H-word” anywhere in the mainstream media these days . . . But mention it he did!
He also mentioned (several times) that Obama’s lead over McCain has dwindled from nine points to ONE point, even in light of his “Presidential” tour of Europe. You can listen to the segment at the above link.
That’s twice in as many days that Hillary has emerged from the back rooms of the internet to the mainstream.

Hello. That video made me happy but then made me sad. It was good to see and hear from Hillary and to hear her still supporting us, but then she talked as if she had given up her fight for POTUS for this year. I think she is trying to win over the Obama supporters before she comes out fighting again. In my opinion I think the only way we will get her for this election is if we can somehow get Obama out of the race before the convention and I don’t have any ideas. The Obama supporters seem to forgive him no matter what he does that is stupid.

Trish, I understand perfectly what you’re saying. I thought the objective here is to get Hillary on the ballot and get her elected.
If Hillary does become the Dem candidate, then yes, McCain will be the opposition.
Now, McCain is kinda behind the times, but his campaign has been honest. It has been clean, and he doesn’t have a cluttered past like BO. McCain and Hillary are friends and they will have a respectful, but tough, campaign against each other.
This is sorta like a “shogun” thing. Never tell even your closest supporter what your next move is going to be. This campaign really starts AFTER the DNC convention. So far, everything has just been a “prelude” and may surprise everyone.

reinstating MI and FL at 100% AFTER the primaries
the private vote at the RBC
favoritism for the four states *allowed* to move their primaries up while FL & MI VOTERS were penalized
recent HRC fundraising breakfast in which he FORGOT to ask for help paying off her debt
the bias against HRC by the leaders of the DNC and the media
The DNC holding Hillary Clinton’s political career hostage – should she not fall in line, her years of working for the betterment of America in the party she loves has been for naught.
what is wrong with media coverage
the incredible delay by the media in vetting Obama – the Rev. Wright information was exposed last year but somehow was overlooked by the media until AFTER Super Tuesday
News about Obama and his campaign was constantly and consistently given precedent over HRC, even when she pulled off wins by HUGE margins in the home stretch of the campaign. There were some results that were called for Obama with 10% of the precincts in.
The commentators and pundits were obvious in their bias – their on-air discussions about the two Democratic candidates was ALWAYS pro-Obama and anti-Hillary – especially Donna Brazille of CNN. Not obvious in what they said but in what event they gave the most air time to.
Instead of treating Hillary Clinton as a candidate who has an impressive resume in politics, they spent more time talking about her husband’s faults and her husband’s role if she were to be POTUS.
The sexist, misogynistic, sleazy comments by Chris Mathews and Tucker Carlson of MSNBC and Bill Mahr that the networks ALLOWED to be aired.
The subtle encouraging of racial divide when nearly every single pundit or commentator that was an Obama supporter was African-American. Nearly ever single one for Hillary Clinton was white.
The intentional quashing of the fact that Hillary Rodham Clinton is still very much a candidate, having only SUSPENDED her campaign, NOT ENDED it.
These are *some* of the issues I have with the DNC, Democratic Party, and their presumptuous candidate. Senator Obama can “keep the change” and I’ll continue to support the candidate I feel will win the White House. Should he take the Democratic Nomination, he will not receive my vote or that of my fellow PUMAs. I will vote McCain, third-party, stay home, or write Hillary Clinton in. At this point, Ichabod Crane is looking better than the choices I have. But make no mistake, I HAVE A CHOICE.
I own my vote. I can not be bought. I do not need Hillary’s blessing for my involvement in PUMA PAC. I know that she would respect my view that I am doing what I feel is right for MY country and for my daughter’s future.
The American voters need to understand that what is happening now could be happening to ANY candidate in four, eight, or twelve+ years. The more we allow abuse, the more we will be abused. Our ‘democracy’ has been mangled beyond recognition in the past three Primary seasons and Presidential elections. The corruption and greed in our government must stop. If we don’t stand up and speak out, who will?

We are a grassroots movement, a true grassroots movement ~ and if we all become more aware of what is going on, then we can be political activists. Whether it is with our time, or our money, or both.
My goals are to turn them all out of office, and keep replacing them early and often. That would be the sensible thing for us voters to do. Once those pols are entrenched in the seats of Power, their graft knows no bounds, and they are pretty dang hard to dislodge, to the point they do not even bother with their constituents anymore, they might as well make the ballots pre-punched for these incumbent Jabba The Huts. That is how I picture their souls, a bunch of Jabba’s in the House and Senate.

The best place I have found for overall campaign funding information is opensecrets.org . The group is called The Center for Responsive Politics. They have all kinds of stuff on the candidates and the parties. They post the FEC information. If you have questions, you can call them and they are responsive.

As for your job…I’ve had it, and I understand. I don’t get why Murphy doesn’t assign some more mods to help out…it’d make things a bit easier. Strength in numbers and all. It really shouldn’t fall on any one person to police this place, it’s not fair in many reasons. You must not get time to do much more than write people emails….needs to be done, but just shouldn’t have to be all your responsibility. I think there are scads of people capable of assisting in this way.
Regardless, your post about why not obama and why you’re ticked off was succinct and to the point. I’ve written quite similar before and it’s nice to see it all put out there with candor and integrity. Thanks.

I think this was a hard week, and I want to thank EVERY single person who is part of this herstoric battle. Especially the dream team of PUMA (I actually don’t know who you are but you rock) and especially every single person who fought the fight this week.
We are all suffering from what has happened and is happening, and it will only get worse before it gets better. Because of this PUMA is a safe, loving, upbeat pro-active place to come, find respite, and then go back and face the battle.
On that note, MUCH love to everyone especially those who don’t post or who are feeling really down. Let’s acknowledge it is hard, work together, and remember that we are the good guys. every single one of us.

FLORIDA OFFSHORE DRILLING – OIL IN ONE YEAR!
The state of Florida is no longer against offshore drilling due to the energy crisis the advances in new technology that make it environmentally safe. Katrina had a category 5 storm toppled oil rigs in the gulf, but not one drop of oil was spilled by OFFSHORE OIL RIGS! Any oil spillage you may have heard about would have been from onshore sources.
States with offshore drilling get the benefits of increased revenue. Also the 700,000 or more new jobs that would be generated by just offshore drilling alone would benefit the floundering U.S economy. The money would stay in the U.S. and people in the U.S. would get new jobs. And oil prices would go down.
There are places in the gulf where it would only take ONE YEAR OR LESS to tap into and start producing oil. WHEN ANYONE TELLS YOU IT WOULD TAKE 7-10 YRS…THAT IS A BLANTANT LIE!!! Some of the oil will be short term, and PELOSI AND OBAMA WOULD PREFER YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT. What is really disgusting is when politicians try to hide these facts from the American people for political gain! The Obama surrogates like to sometimes throw around a 20YR timeline. Pelosi 202-224-3121 ask for Nancy to bring the “ENERGY INDEPENCE ACT” to a vote.

The people of Alaska want to drill in Anwar. That area of Alaska is barren. The people that live in ANWAR are have approved the locations where they will drill, it will not threaten their local ecology. They have 50% unemployment and seriously want this to happen and are looking forward to being employed.
The Alaskan pipeline is not filled to capacity. The pipe is rusting. If we drill in Anwar the oil would be put into the Alaskan pipeline. The oil would lubricate the pipe. The oil is not being sold to Japan as people commonly think (this only happened for the first year). Currently the oil gets shipped down the west coastline to oil refineries and the oil is distributed and used in the United States.

I think people should try watching C-span. They would find out that today there is an opportunity to pass a BIPARTISAN bill called the “ENERGY INDEPENDENCE ACT” . It has an “all of the above” stragegy with and includes ALL of the solutions to our energy problems. PELOSI IS TRYING TO SHUT IT DOWN! It includes every energy solution out there and proposes that we use them all! Clean nuclear, Clean coal, offshore drilling, wind, solar, renewable forms of energy, and conservation, infrastructure for energy, conservation with fuel efficient vehicles EVERYTHING including future technologies. If it came to a vote, it would be passed because FINALLY THE GOVERNMENT HAS A REAL SOLUTION TO A REAL PROBLEM. Call Pelosi 202-224-3121
T.Boone Pickens in an interview said we have to drill offshore, he also said that we have to use all solutions and can’t just rely on oil to drill our way out of the problem. We need to use all solutions to secure our ENERGY INDEPENDENCE. 85% of the best drilling sites are offshore and in Anwar. It will take less than 1year to drill in some places in the gulf to get oil. It will take 4 or 5 yrs to get oil from Anwar, There are platforms ready to go off the shore of California. Sweden discovered gas last month and will be drilling by Sept. The country that put a man on the moon can drill oil in less than a year.

With the exception of Geraldine, I am disappointed that the Democratic leaders do not understand how permanent the damage is to the party. Everyone continues to believe that we will fall into place after the convention. I’ve been embarrassed for the party for much of this primary season and this will not magically disappear in August. The party made a mockery of core Democratic values and did not choose the strongest candidate.
I know Hillary is concerned that she does not come across as a sore loser, but hopefully she realizes that we are not supporting Obama because we believe that he is not good for the country. Hillary has an opportunity to lead us during our search for a new identity.
I’m also disappointed about the amount of money the Democrats have spent on the primary. It’s only August and Obama ads are on every hour. Just think of what good cause could have been funded with even part of the money.

Anyway, I just want us to do everything now, especially the clean energy, and especially the green technology.

They’re alot of fun! You get to meet the stars, they have parties and late night things, and the booths and the Q&A. It’s been so much fun! We’ve been… I think this is our 4th time. (They’re starting to melt together in my mind). You never know what’s going to happen. One year we were in the elevator going down to get bagels and Ethan Phillips walks into the elevator with us, still in his pajamas and half asleep. We met Levar Burton in the lobby the first year we went. Last year when we went to the friday night dinner party we got to hang out with Garret Wang! It’s always a fun time. If you ever have the chance to go, I very highly recommend it!

wow! Did you guys see what happened in Congress today? Nancy Pelosi shutdown the house and went on vacation for 5 weeks. The Republicans stayed to discuss the energy bill and the cameras and lights were turned off on them!
The said that the republicans were on the floor talking about the energy bill. People started coming in and before you know it the galleries were full of American people that started chanting vote, vote, vote, vote!
Word got around and people started coming in after the first hour and there were 50 people talking about the energy bill.
They say something like this where the politicians were staying to stick up for the American people and to give them a “voice” hasn’t happened in 60 year!!!! They reminded me of PUMAS! I was actually proud of them!
They are calling on Nancy Pelosi to allow a vote or the President to call a special session to make Pelosi miss her book signing tour and come back to take a vote. I bet we’ll be seeing alot of this in the news tommorrow.

I would welcome input from other CA — SF Bay Area PUMAs regarding support for Cindy Sheehan v. Pelosi. On a personal note, even before the primaries began, I have felt that Pelosi was totally ineffective in her role as Speaker of the House. That being said, Cindy has been portrayed locally and nationally as a crackpot — I’m not sure that she has a chance in hell of unseating Pelosi, even given Pelosi’s poor performance. Pelosi is a very rich women with political connections that go way back to her father’s days in Baltimore. In my humble opinion, there needs to be a more viable candidate than Sheehan to unseat Pelosi.

SPECULATION
The world oil market has until recently had 3-4 million barrels on the market exceeding demand. Now with the demands of emerging countries like China, supply and demand are even or flat as its called.
In a hearing it was revealed that if 2 million more barrels were on the market the price would go down.
If we were to pass the BIPARTISAN ENERGY INDEPENDENCE ACT, the oil speculartors would no longer be a problem and they would bail, dropping the price. A few bailed when Bush announced lifting the executive order against offshore drilling. Why? Anticipation that our supply would be up, our use would be down and we would eventually, no longer be dependent on other countries for our energy needs as the country moves to a comprehensive energy plan for independence.

If we want to get back our country, I think we need to be independent and pursue everything to our advantage. What we need though, are candidates that protect us and to allow each state to have more control over their enviroment and to make sure that revenue goes to the schools, communities, etc FIRST. The Congress has investigated price gouging 9 times and they got the same answer every time. When you do something repeatedly and get the same answer but expect a different result, that is the definition of (insanity or stupidity – your choice) Anyways, when you hear that PRICE GOUGING is the problem, you’re being LIED TO. Some people running for office are actually saying they will investigate price gouging again! Is is because we are supposed to be uneducated and don’t watch what’s going on in our own government?
NOW the congress has held meetings and FINALLY understands that we need both short and long term solutions, to drop the prices of oil. Together in a BIPARTISAN bill called the “ENERGY INDEPENDENCE ACT” that PELOSI refuses to bring to a vote, we have a solution. Call her and tell her not to take a 5 week vacation, to stay in Washington and vote on this bill! It has an “ALL OF THE ABOVE” strategy to make us Energy Independent. IT WILL CREATE A TON OF NEW JOBS. Solar, wind, renewables, domestic oil and other fuels, clean energy, refineries, energy conservation…it has it ALL!

It’s the official Star Trek convention held in Las Vegas. They’ve only had like… I think this is the 6th annual one. They started having there because they put a Star Trek ride in the Las Vegas Hilton (Aptly named Star Trek: The Experience). The stars that go are strictly from the Star Trek shows. But meeting Angela Cartwright (and years later her daughter) was the best.
The new Bipartisan Energy Independence plan that Pelosi was refusing to allow an up or down vote was primarily focused on transitioning us to onto new technologies to become energy independent. An ALL OF THE ABOVE STRATEGY.
It called for the common sense drilling here now for the shortterm to bring down the cost. To save the American country to get us transitioned onto wind, solar, renewables, conservation, nuclear, and a $7,500 credit to buy a hybrid car. They want to raise the cafe standards and require cars to be 85% gas free.
The minority house is staging a “Boston Tea Party” by refusing to leave the house until they have an answer.
They are saying that people in the house need to do the peoples work. That their job is caring for Americans agenda.
Did you know that France has learned how to decrease the waste from nuclear plants by 90% and recycles it? They want us to do this in America.
Did you know that Sarah Stillman wants to build a refinery in her own back yard in Missouri. That because we have lost access to supplies of natural gas that we have lost 75,000 high paying manufacturing jobs in the chemical industry?
There was a time when we could say it was okay not to drill in America, but we are past that now, and this is a REAL EMERGENCY. The energy bill wants to double the tax credit for solar. As far as wind goes, T.Boone Pickens said he can generate 20% of our energy needs in 10 yrs from wind.
It is a comprehensive plan for energy. They want to use all the available sources of energy available to the American people.

They want to produce 9 billion gallons all over america of biofuels (cellulosic)
They want more energy efficient vehicles sooner.
This is not a drilling plan, this is a plan to get the prices down and to quickly start implementing “ALL OF THE ABOVE” to make us Energy Independent.

In fact, I predict the fallout from these recent events surrounding the issues of energy policy / economic policy, from Speaker Pelosi’s refusal to postpone vacation so the House could vote on an energy bill (drilling in ANWR), to the phone videos of the Republicans who chose to continue the energy debate in the dark when the lights went out, to BO’s sudden reversal on off-shore drilling – I cannot imagine he gave anyone in Congress a ‘heads up’ on this one – will be bigger than any of us could have imagined.

I’m writing to you because you’re one of the few media personalities with the intelligence and integrity to report the truth about Barack Obama.
If Obama were to become President of the United States, it would be an economic disaster far worse than we’ve experienced under President Bush or any other leader. I’m hoping you have the courage to show this to American voters.
I’m not knowledgeable enough to understand everything in Obama’s economic plan or to compare the plans put forth by each of the candidates. Nor would I necessarily trust the well-crafted marketing documents posted on their web sites. These “plans” are little more than campaign promises, not a crystal ball into an economic future affected by numerous external factors a President has little control over.
However, as a taxpayer and as a self-employed business owner with perhaps a little more common sense than the average bear, I can readily see Barack Obama’s reckless spending habits and predict what it means to America should he ever become President.
I hope that if I share these thoughts with you, you’ll take the idea and run with it. I don’t have the expertise to do justice to this idea, but you do. And you have the vehicle to communicate it to voters.
My concerns about Obama’s economic plan began when I saw how he would outspend Hillary Clinton by two-, three-, or four-to-one during the primaries, but Hillary consistently got more votes per dollars spent. Although Hillary has often been criticized for her campaign debt, no one can argue that she “did more with less.” Even John McCain, who was almost counted out last summer, came roaring back to win his party’s nomination on a shoestring budget. McCain, too, did more with less.
Economic health depends on making wise choices, not ones where we’re spending two, three, or four times what someone else would pay for comparable results. Yet that’s what Barack Obama does … and presumably what he would do with taxpayer money should he become President. He’ll spend our money recklessly, as is common with people who suddenly come into unearned wealth, then raise everyone’s taxes to pay for his indiscretions.
Am I judging him too harshly? I don’t think so. The Obama campaign has often made a big deal of how he was able to raise a tremendous amount of money mostly through small donations. To me, that’s code for how he plans to finance programs in the future. If millions of ordinary people are willing to repeatedly make small donations to finance his campaign, it follows that millions more should be willing to keep making small donations (i.e., pay more in fees and taxes) to implement whatever program he’s currently trying to sell us.
If Obama doesn’t tax us directly, he’ll do so indirectly, such as through a fuel tax hike to pay for new pathways to energy independence. It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see how this snake oil salesman will pander to other lawmakers under his spell to get such things through Congress.
It’s also easy to see that there’s no limit to how much Obama will spend to feed his ego. For example, there was the fake Presidential seal that Obama had to quickly dump after all the negative publicity. More recently, it was the $300,000 he spent to repaint his airplane. And for what? Whom did it benefit? What did that costly modification do for Americans that the original paint job didn’t accomplish just as well?
Worst of all is this obscenely expensive overseas publicity stunt. If Obama were being a fiscally conservative bipartisan leader, he would have accompanied John McCain on a joint fact-finding mission, splitting the expenses with his opponent. That would have demonstrated a willingness and ability to reach across the aisle for a win-win solution. It would have demonstrated a commitment to restoring our own economy instead of wasting billions in Iraq. Instead, Obama proved that he has worse judgment than even our current President.
And who is paying for this obscenely expensive overseas publicity stunt? We are. I don’t know how much of it is being paid for by campaign donations versus tax dollars. But does it matter? One way or another, it’s all coming out of our pockets. And one way or another, it’s driving up our national debt. Surely we didn’t budget for unforeseen expenses, such as the unparalleled Secret Service protection now needed for this buffoon. What nation is loaning us the money to cover that until we can recoup the loss through higher taxes?
Meanwhile, Obama refuses to do the comparatively low-cost things that would have a greater impact on this campaign. For example, look at how much negative publicity he’s getting because he canceled plans to visit wounded soldiers in Germany. Bad choice.
And then there’s my favorite: Obama’s refusal to do the weekly town hall debates that John McCain keeps asking for. How can I evaluate the candidates side-by-side, answering the same questions, when Obama refuses to debate John McCain? Surely, this relatively low-budget “campaign appearance” is worth doing … and something voters are entitled to.
In fact, Obama’s refusal to debate John McCain tells me far more about Obama than he realizes. It tells me that this man who repeatedly said “I welcome that debate with John McCain” during the primaries is not a man of his word. It tells me that he’s not someone who can or will reach across the aisle to work with Republicans. It tells me that he doesn’t believe in transparency in government. It tells me that he’s uncertain of his own stated policies and that he lacks the conviction to debate them with people who would challenge his judgment. It tells me that Obama is afraid to speak without a teleprompter and the scripted words of his speechwriters. Obama’s refusal to do this simple, expected, and relatively low-cost campaign effort reinforces everything I believe about the man being all flash and no substance.
I wish that I were economically savvy enough to present my argument more effectively. I hope that I’ve presented it effectively enough that you can take it and run with it. These are simple, common sense points that any voter should be able to relate to, regardless of how well they understand the candidates’ economic plans. And they’re points based on evidence that economic advisers really can’t spin to make Obama look good. When voters listen not just to a candidate’s words but also to a candidate’s actions, they get a far more accurate picture of what the candidates believe.

Oh, my god. I think I just figured out how to contest BO’s eligibility to run for President, based on questions as to whether he is a natural born citizen!
Anyone wishing to appear on the ballot for President must register with the Secretaries of State in the individual states, according to their rules regarding numbers of signatures; and citizenship. The timetables for contesting the validity of ballot submissions are listed for each state. So, if BO manages to take the nomination in August then, his people will file paperwork to get him on the ballots of the 50 states. This is when we need to file individual challenges against his eligibility to appear on the ballot.

The gas crisis just got more confusing.
Yesterday on “Corbett,” Marty from Scranton emailed me to let me know that a Barack Obama rally was scheduled this morning in the Hill Section of the city – “your neighborhood,” Marty wrote.
The event was planned for an old-fashioned urban gas station – a symbolic setting where working-class people have filled their tanks for years as part of the struggle to survive in a hard neighborhood.
The event would kick off a combination voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaign.
Lackawanna County Commissioners Mike Washo and Corey O’Brien would be there, Marty said. So would Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty, Marty said.
Democrats all, Doherty stood by Hillary Clinton during her landslide hammering of Obama in the Pennsylvania primary. Washo and O’Brien came out early for Obama and are now hoping to ride the gravy train to fame and fortune.
Obama will need them and every other Democrat he can find in Scranton if he hopes to win Northeastern Pennsylvania in November.

And nobody did either.
All Marty provided was the name of the guy who owns the gas station in the Hill. But when we called him during the break, all he said was that some guy from the local Obama campaign had stopped by and asked if they could rally ’round his pumps this morning in an exercise of democracy.
Whatever, he said.
But he didn’t even know the guy’s name or any other details about the Obama campaign event.
Despite my attempts to alert people to this political gathering for Obama, nobody from his campaign responded. Obama supporters who did call to defend their man also had no knowledge of the rally.
Once again Obama supporters in Northeastern Pennsylvania blew it.
If this keeps up, they can call it a day long before Election Day because the smooth, well-oiled Obama machine has hit some serious local potholes.
Even if the rally gets underway today, it will make far less impact than it could have made with some real basic organization.
I’ll let you know what happened on today’s show.
I tried my best to be fair last week when Obama supporters scheduled another rally on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre.
I read about that one in the previous day’s paper and immediately called the communications director for the state Democratic Party, who came on the air to talk about the rally as if it would draw hundreds.
Dozens of Iraq War veterans would gather, he said, to talk about the high cost of war and oppose Republican John McCain’s plan to push the war effort.
Reports indicate that fewer than a dozen people showed up on Public Square, an early indication of a serious flaw in Obama’s Wilkes-Barre local team spirit.
I tried harder to promote their rally than they did – and I oppose Obama. I’m turning down Obama. There will be “nobama” for me. In the 2008 race I’m with Hillary Clinton until the last light bulb burns out in America.
Pumping up the volume means working harder in the enemy camp than ever. The coal region is Clinton Country and Obama’s minions must work triple time if they hope to make change they can believe in.
Right now, the only change I see is chump change. If this is what the world’s been waiting for, count me out.
Obama, the presumptuous nominee, needs local political organization in battleground states such as Pennsylvania more than he needs hundreds of thousands of fawning Germans cheering for him like he’s the lead singer for the Berlin Wall band called the Scorpions.
Obama needs to get real.

Hello, souther Jersy. Central Jersey here.
I’ve been extremely busy elsewhere the past few days and missed a lot of reading here… so don’t know who posted what, where or when,
but,
When I watched the two videos I walked away with what I have been lead to believe…namely:
- Hillary is still endorsing BHO, although she did say in that video that she has come out early, unlike other candidates in the party’s history that have waited until the Convention to endorse.
- She said that she is in negociations with Obama and his team as well as with the DNC. I will assume, (but do not know) through their respective legal teams.
- She reiterated that not everything is under her control, meaning there is a process to be adhered to.
- But she did say, that she believes that the only way to *real* unity is if the voters have a right to be represented at the Convention, and I take that to mean, their respective delegates also.
- She said, in not so many words, that for real unity that her name should be put into nomination and that the delegates should be given a chance to vote during a roll call vote.
- Basically, I got the feeling that she was in favor of traditional Convention nominating process; but when she said not everything is in her hands, does keep us wondering as to the ultimate outcome.
But at least we KNOW that negociations are under way and that she too is involved in those negociations with regard to HER ROLE at the Convention.

Don’t know how many of you listed to radio blog show at hcsfjm.com. Cindi Atkins was on (she has raised approx $42 thousand for Hillary). We were trying to get in touch with Will Bower so he could notify all the anti-Obama websites that our groups DO NOT want to MEET UP anywhere with Cindy Sheehan. She is big anti-war and has been seen a lot with Obama. Christi said that would hurt Hillary and our only goal should be to focus on her getting on the ballot in nomination. If that’s true, that’s another reason not to support her. They said vote for the Repub to beat Pelosi. I don’t have to make that choice as I live in Fl. I went off on the B&N Store manager yesterday afternoon and made him call the corporate office and launched a complaint then and there. I’m sure the problem will go away, but yes, the more complaints the better. Also, as far as Soros, I doubt he swallowing to many cases, the more sales there are the more publicity the book will get. If he attempting to corner the market he is only wasting his money. Maybe him, BO, Pelosi, Reid and Dean can have a good old fashioned book burning party. That would make for good press.

Here’s the link to the lying on the bar application. But there is a link within that link that seems to suggest they want more info, don’t know how much more they need. I called the IL Bar and they told me there were no complaints against him but MommaE said it was just filed July 24 and it may not be in the system yet. The woman asked me if I wanted to file a complaint! LOL! I could have given her a million reasons why I should.

#cjv I don’t trust him, do you? If he becomes the nominee, certainly he would keep it. But I worked for attorneys and you just don’t drop a lawsuit on word alone, you get it in writing.

It was about sometime back in January when I started to pay close attention when I started to not trust him. I read his face and I didn’t like what I could see. His eyes reveals his personal agenda.
I just went to that website and left a comment. There were no others. I just wish I knew who is involved with this. Anonymous is just like a class action lawsuit, a bunch of people are involved. But I want to see this go thru. We need to follow up with the IL Bar and ask why it’s not showing up in the system. I did find out the attorney’s who filed the complaint which you can read there:

It’s a pity I cannot donate ! I would have liked so much to help you… I don’t understand why people from other countries should not have the right to participate in this effort in favour of Hillary.

delphine, I think there are many places where foreigners can donate. I thought the pumapac was one. However I know it is okay to donate to operation costs for a website like this or other sites, to help other people travel to Denver, etc etc.
You might ask Heidi Li or Marc Rubin, they know about the rules and various sites.
