PATROLING BARNEGAT

by: Walt Whitman (1819-1892)

  •
ILD, wild the storm, and the sea high running,
Steady the roar of the gale, with incessant undertone muttering,
Shouts of demoniac laughter fitfully piercing and pealing,
Waves, air, midnight, their savagest trinity lashing,
Out in the shadows there milk-white combs careering,
On beachy slush and sand spirts of snow fierce slanting,
Where through the murk the easterly death-wind breasting,
Through cutting swirl and spray watchful and firm advancing,
(That in the distance! is that a wreck? is the red signal flaring?)

Slush and sand of the beach tireless till daylight wending,
Steadily, slowly, through hoarse roar never remitting,
Along the midnight edge by those milk-white combs careering,
A group of dim, weird forms, struggling, the night confronting,
      That savage trinity warily watching.

Our Group in Charlotte was Quite well organized with t-shirts and signs. When Dean arrived we began chanting “PUMA!” Apparently it got to him, as he had to stop his speech to address us. We stated that we wanted Hillary in nomination. All he would say is that “she will be in roll call, if she expresses that she wants to be”…pretty shady answer. So we respected the rest of his speech but you could easily tell we irked him! :)

Re Debra Bartoshevich:

The Democratic Party today has told all Democrats that dissent will not be permitted, that all Democrats must fall sheepishly in line behind the party leadership, that we will only be represented by them if we want what they want us to want and do what they want us to do.

The Democratic Party today has declared that they want to strip us of yet another right as citizens. No one is allowed to speak as a stalwart Democrat by opposing the party’s leadership. We have to shut up and fall in line.

At the beginning of June, when Murphy launched Puma PAC, I was among the very first to join.

I remember in the first days that there was intense debate among Pumas about whether or not voting for John McCain was a valid form of protest. I thought, “Of course, it is.”

There were others who said that they would vote for McCain because he is more moderate and more qualified than Barack Obama, and were challenged for taking that position because it would mean that they were not true Democrats. I thought, “Of course we’re true Democrats. Mindless sheep vote the party line. True Democrats expect – no demand – that their leaders uphold core democratic principles and represent them and their interests or step aside for leaders who will.”

What is the purpose of having a convention at which delegates select the party’s nominee if the outcome has been predetermined and any delegate who refuses to fall in line with the predetermined selection is denied access to the convention?

We no longer have a democratic Democratic Party.

Our choice is either to fight – revolution style – until every last one of those failed pseudo-leaders is out of power over the Democratic Party, or find leaders who will help us replace the undemocratic Democratic Party.

Despite evidence to the contrary (#10), I’m so angry that I can’t speak. I’m f&*king angry. (<-sorry)

No. This can’t be. The painfully stupid Fowler-Germond letter was one thing, but this. No.

We’re in a war, ladies and gentlemen. We vote Democrat election cycle after election cycle because it was the closest we could come to being represented in this joke of a representative democracy.

Make no mistake about it. We fight for our freedoms now, or lose everything forever.

No.

Does he really think he’s going to get away with creating chaos? The police learned lessons from 68 onward…

I will say that I liked two items on his demonstrtation agenda: Global Warming and No Borders.
I like the idea of people being allowed to live whereever they chose, that would be one way of yaying or naying governments.

MARYLANDPUMA -
Keep watching the Global list growing and had a thought!
Perhaps signs in the languages of the countries ( or maybe even flags) that represent our global members in Denver will send a message regarding OUR “foreign relations”. Plus I feel it is a token of respect and friendship to show them how much we appreciate all their support and efforts in our cause.

Someone also mentioned the other night that the names of all our members could be on signs, so those of us who can not attend will feel some small sense of being there. Perhaps you already saw it .

#25 Knoxville Puma on 07.25.08 at 8:51 pm

I’m sorry, but am I the only person who thinks that what happened today in the case of Debra Bartoshevich is infinitely significant?

It’s not about Bartoshevich being a martyr.

It’s about the rights of Democrats to oppose the party as a means of remaining loyal to its principles.

My anger has turned to confusion at what appears to be indifference to an infinitely significant inaction on the part of the Democratic Party leadership, who refused to act and turned the decision over to unprincipled Democratic Party of Wisconsin losers.

#37 Knoxville Puma on 07.25.08 at 8:57 pm

It’s not that she is a Clinton delegate or whatever. It’s that she said that she was going to exercise her right as a citizen, as a Democrat, to speak to her party by dissenting. And they stripped her, stripped us all, of the right to dissent, which is based on an important principle of democracy.

#74 Firebelle Puma on 07.25.08 at 9:20 pm

Knoxville,

Of course, we are angry about it, especially since many of us stood up for Debra Bartoshevich and tried to keep this from happening.

But we can’t let it divert us from our mission. It’s one more argument. It’s one more reason to fight. It’s one more weapon we can use against the DNC. But it’s not the end goal.

Remember, our first priority is to get Hillary nominated. If we fail in that mission, we must then focus on keeping Obama out of the White House.

Debra Bartoshevich is a foot soldier in that battle. She took a risk and, unfortunately, did not escape unscathed. But if she were here with us, she would tell us to carry on with our mission. Put your anger to good use, dear friend. For Hillary. For Debra. For all of us.

I have to disagree, Driving women backwards takes men along with them. Most people live in a two income household. When a wife gets pregnant, how many men can afford to take over all the bills? When some ones wife gets denied her promotion because of the old boys club, how does that effect the home life? How about the fact that men are made impotent in being able to deal with such things.
Thats just the tip of the iceberg.
Theres also the sisters mothers g/fs nieces, all of whom will be denied the opportunity to achieve because of sexism. Not to mention the degradation that will be considered acceptable. That will lead to violence from men. No body treats any women close to me (or any woman in public) with less than respect. Any man who does will deal with me ( and has) in our traditional method of settling disputes. A solid straight left followed by a good right hook. (I’m a southpaw).
No we are all affected. Some men (and women) just don’t see it.

As i understand it, each delegate has to sign a pledge to support the nominee until after the convention. Thats the rule. I may be wrong but i do believe I saw that when we were discussing the rules for the convention here.
If those are the rules she broke them. I admire her courage but, she knew the consequences.
She willingly gave up her delegate status to stand for what she believes in. I applaud her.

Arrogance Will Not Help Get Obama Elected

Excerpt: In the prayer he left at the Western Wall, Senator Obama asked the Lord to protect him from pride and despair. Maybe he should have added something about protecting his campaign from the related danger of arrogance. It might be the biggest threat to Obama’s success.

“They think they can’t lose,” one of the smartest people I know said to me this week, describing the attitude he sees on display in the Obama campaign. He isn’t the first one to say it.

There was a crop of stories, as the trip was ending, suggesting that the Obama campaign, which used to pride itself on its openess and transparency as compared to the Clinton machine, has now abandoned openess and transparency in favor of tight controls, attacks on reporters who write less-than flattering pieces, and a particularly unattractive form of hardball that people who think they are on the way to the White House, or already there, often adopt. It will not serve him well.

Aaah, it warms the cockles of my heart to again be fighting for Equal Rights!
____________________________________________
The cockles of my heart have been warmed, toasted, baked, broiled, steamed, poached, and burnt to a crisp fighting for equal rights all these decades.

This fight will have to be something radically different, although I’m not quite sure how. I do believe that men will have to suffer some serious consequences if they do not fight along side of us equally… and not because they see women as appendages via blood or marriage, but because they either know it;s the right thing and will raise the consciousnesses of their brothers (instead of preaching to the choir), or because they will suffer serious consequences. Speaks to a language, that for some, is their first (and sometimes, only) language.

We should discuss after Denver.., or on Nov 5.

Got my computer fixed and had no intentions of blogging tonight – but
KNOXVILLE PUMA – and I just started reading from the bottom up so do not know how many people have agreed or disagreed with you about the Wisconsin delegate – but I see you have passionately tried your best to get people stirred up and
#74Firebelle Puma – I understand completely what you are saying as well about picking our battles – but guess what folks – this is a big battle – and in my opinion – bigger than the likes of a Donna – that everyone is so passionate about -
Many of us – and I was one included – sent emails to the Chairman of the Democratic Party in Wisconsin saying not to do it – we were all ignored and it happened -
I personally am in touch with another superdelegate on a daily basis – that has to remained nameless but was in a meeting with others that was trying to press her to admit that she was for Hillary rather than No name and felt very uncomfortable – IF WE LET this happen to just one delegate the word will get out that anyone else that votes for someone other than Precious will be attacked and stripped of their status – isn’t this kinda of what we are trying to do – get her nominated – I personally think we all should send another blast of emails to the good Chairman saying how displeased we are of his actions – if for nothing else but send a sign to others NOT TO MESS WITH OUR OTHER DELEGATES – this is just one and a sign that there could be others.

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION- and now I am off for the night – have a good evening everyone.

Well… there are those that will vote for McCain, some are voting for 3rd party, some are sitting out, some are going to write-in hillary and some will fall in line.

But, depending on how the rest of the election goes… it’s quite possible that there will be McCain Dems in history.

wrt Edwards… gosh, I hope that isn’t true for his wife’s sake. If true… shame on JE.

I think the new articles at NoQuarterUSA deserve time on network news.

As far as voting in November goes, I pray each day that Hillary will be the obvious choice.

If not, I will campaign TIRELESSLY for the candidate most likely to win because that man is so scary that NO ONE COULD BE WORSE. NO ONE.

Also, it is very very important to send a message to the DNC should they keep Hillary out that this is what you get when you mess with true Democrats.

I am a jewish woman, and I will leave this country in a heartbeat should that man win. Principle and fear will drive me out. But if I am forced out I will leave with my integrity, something many will never get back.

I do not understand how Howie, Dean and Nancy sleep at night. Donna must have lost both her mind and conscience long ago, and ANY woman who is still supporting that man is an embarassment to herself. At some point in our collective lives we must simply say NO MORE. I would hope that we have reached that point.

#132 murphy on 07.25.08 at 9:53 pm

From Amarissa’s link to the LA Times:

“. . .That’s in addition to the $1.6 million The Times identified earlier this week in donations from Clinton donors to Obama in June.

However, it wasn’t a two-way street last month. Obama’s donors gave Clinton a mere $105,000 in June, despite a plea from Obama that his high-roller donors help retire her $22 million in campaign debts.

In June, Clinton donors gave $1.53 million to the Obama Victory Fund, established by Obama and the Democratic Party to raise money far in excess of the $2,300 that individuals can give to a presidential candidate. By law, the fund can receive high five-figure checks and divvy them up among various other Obama-related committees.”

ugh.

Apologies if this was posted earlier.

Quote FROM Debra Bartoshevich…
“The Wisconsin Democratic Party is holding a conference call THIS FRIDAY, July 25, to make a decision about whether to allow me to retain my status as a Hillary Clinton delegate to the Democratic National Convention in August in Denver.”

BACKGROUND: The Wisconsin DNC is telling Debra she will lose her delegate status. She is fighting so she can vote for Hillary @ the convention. Please help Debra by immediately contacting the Democratic Party Chair and ask them to stop rigging this process by punishing someone simply for supporting Hillary Clinton:

Joe Wineke, DP Chair
The Democratic Party of Wisconsin
222 W. Washington Ave. Suite 150
Madison, Wisconsin 53703

CALL: (608) 255-5172
FAX: (608) 255-8919
EMAIL: party@wisdems.org

thank you.

I do not believe this post received any comments but that doesn’t mean there was no action. I do hope many faxes and emails were sent along with mine.
Clearly this did not stop the despicable action taken but it would let them know we are aware of their atrocious actions. I doubt we will find any mention in the media.

This is more than the loss of a delegate. We are losing our democracy, it is hanging in the balance. This is why Denver is so important.

Certainly racism and sexism and all the “isms” are horrible and damaging. However, in my view, there is nothing more horrifying or damaging than the loss of our democracy.

I am angry and frightened but anxious to try to make things happen will all the other Pumas.

VIRAL EMAILS against BO

A friend of mine in the east coast backed Hillary during the primaries but when HC “pulled out” she moved to BO. I told her about JSND/PUMA and sent her the link to pumapac. She’s open-minded and I thought I was swaying her away from BO… But then one day she received a forwarded chain-email (viral email) with the subject: “20 Reasons Why We Must Keep McCain from Winning” (something along those lines). She forwarded it to me and wrote, “Did you know all this?! I just can’t let the Republicans win. It might be sad what happened to Hillary… and BO may not be the ideal… but McCain is worse, SO I’M VOTING FOR BO!”

Well… I’m still working on her. But the main point here is that this got me thinking about the effectiveness of these “viral/chain emails”… and (I suggested this before, but more meekly) … WHY NOT CREATE OUR OWN VIRAL EMAIL(s)… something like, “20 Reasons Why We Should Turn Down Obama.”

At the bottom, these viral-emails usually say, “Please forward this to at least 5 people”… or, “Please forward this to as many people as possible” …. or “…to all the registered voters you know.” This is how they spread all over the cyberworld!!!

The template for the viral email can be nicely formatted and would be found at a PUMApac page (the Action Center?) available for us to download or copy and paste into a blank email so we can send it to other people and have them forward it to others.

The viral-email template at PUMApac could be periodically updated to reflect any new relevant information that comes out about BO, etc. Also, when we copy and paste it into our blank email, we can change or modify anything to make it sound better for the person we are sending it to.

I know some organizations (I think even MoveOn.org) have used the viral-email idea to “campaign” and spread info throughout the internet. Why don’t we also do something like that?

——————

Re #10 Knoxville Puma

Did anyone watch the HBO presentation of John Adams? This reminds me of the scene where the Continental Congress received a letter from King George in response to their many requests to the crown for changes. Before that letter many of the representatives wanted to remain loyal to England and work things out (sort of like “working from within”). That letter condemned the Congress as traitors and told the representatives that their actions would not be tolerated. That letter united the 13 Colonies and was the catalyst for writing the Declaration on Independence. It was the political turning point in our revolution at least in the movie.

We will no matter what happens at the Convention, we will be the real catalyst for change not Obama or any of his cronies. Rejoice the battles lines are closing and soon we will begin to make history.

A little dramatic? Yeah but I look forward to this fight because I believe we are right. It is a privilege to be a Puma and I am happy you guys are in this with me. Oh did anyone bring some spare musket balls?

It wasn’t Clinton –- a possible clue that the Senator from New York has been bumped from Obama’s list of potential VPs. If you needed a clue.

FUNNY NEWS FLASH:

A close friend of mine is a die-hard Red Sox fan and a peripheral PUMA (in spirit, but not active). She is at the Sox-Yankees game at Fenway tonight. For those of you who are not baseball fans, it is the ultimate rivalry–going back decades. Lots of media coverage at these games. Sort of like another rivalry we are familiar with…

Anyway, she texted me from the game tonight: “Puma reference on a sign at Sox-Yanks game!”

I haven’t been able to get back to her to find out exactly what one of our own wrote on the sign, but WE ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!

YAHOO PUMAS!

#158 Murphy – apparently all our growl got from the Wisconsin Democratic party was a third finger – now I think we need to give them a full Hand or PAW whichever is the case – we need to let people know that we are not on a search and destroy mission – that we will hit once and that is it if you survive our hit – they need to know that there will be more coming where that came from if they continue their actions – and it is no longer about the Wisconsin delegate its about all the other delegates and superdelegates that are watching this action and BELIEVE me they ARE watching.

I lied I said I was signing off – but lurked – now back to my projects for Puma.

The thing about the Mission District, pre-Silicon Valley, is that it was a low rent ghetto of sorts (working poor and working class latinos and lesbians), but the best kept secret was that it had the best weather in all of SFO!

People, people, people…. Missed the earlier post, but from what I am gathering, Debra Bartoshevich lost her standing as a delegate.

That’s because the Party Rules say that as a delegate one must enter the Convention in “good faith” and that means, obeying party rules. So if a person says they are going republican… that is NOT good faith.

Kind of like bishops gathering to vote for the next pope, and one of them says, I am going to vote for rabbi Ishmael.

It ain’t a gonna fly!

Voting in November under the General Election is quite another thing because that falls under the Constitution of the United States.

But-

Party Rules are just that, Party rules… as in an organization setting up its own bylaws. The DNC has nothing to do with our voter rights because its not in our Constitution.

- Primaries are not in our Constitution.
- Conventions are not in our Constitution.

Murphy-

dean had to stop his speech because we were chanting “PUMA” too loud! we asked about Hillary being placed in nomination and all he would say was that she would be on roll call “if she chooses to be”. needless to say we were unpleased with that. We were very pleased to have many passer bys honking for Hillary. I think we threw him a little off kilter. They actually called in 3 more squad cars. of course we were a peaceful bunch and there were no issues. the Charlotte Observer as well as WCNC news was there and did interviews. I tried to get on camera and in print but they seemed only interested in promoting the stereotype of the “angry, old women” and declined to hear from the 27 year old…go figure!

People all over the world will be watching what happens in Denver. Thousands of reporters will be there to cover these events. And hundreds of them will seek out PUMAs for interviews. They will ask why we object to BO’s nomination. Study the issues and be prepared to offer lucid and concise analyses of things like delegate selection and role; caucuses versus primaries; and procedures for nomination and balloting at the convention. Above all, please, remember this. Even if push comes to shove and law enforcement arrest protesters en masse, absolutely nothing else we do will focus the attention of the world on our cause as much as the sight of thousands of middle-aged women willing to risk incarceration to stand up for what they believe is right. And never forget the world is watching.

I am so sad my son and I are unable to be there.

I just got this email from a friend of mine from Chicago, that is very close to the Hillary campaign. See for yourself from the mouth of one of our soldiers.

From: xxxxxxx
Date: 07/25/08 10:18:02
To: xxxxxxx
Subject: This came via a fellow SEAL, just kind of makes me sick to see the truth that the news won’t report. Our men and women in the service deserve better than this.

A friend passed this along… a message from Captain Jeffrey Porter,
currently serving in Afghanistan, to his family and friends back home:

Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass
along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour
on his visit to ‘The War Zone’. I wanted to share with you what
happened.

He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof
vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who
is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers were lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and
didn’t say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the
General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell
(pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play
basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity
pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity t o talk
to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American’s back
home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are
going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank
those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the
Dallas Cowboy Cheer leaders than from Senator, who wants to be the
President of the United States. I just don’t understand how anyone
would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he
was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our
great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to
know what kind of caliber of
person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

In service,
CPT Jeffrey S. Porter
&nbs p;Battle Captain
TF Wasatch
American Soldier

The paradigm shifts this election cycle are amazing, huh?

A lot of my friends have voted for or donated to the opposite candidate in order to hinder the opposition.

I live in MA so it is most likely going to go to Dems. But, some friends of mine have donated, like Murphy, to McCain in 2000 or supported him other ways, hoping that it would prevent Bush from getting into office… alas, their efforts were for naught.

I’ve voted for Repubs downticket, usually because there is no opposition but never for Prez. This may be my first year… if I should choose that path.

I would never have imagined that I would be watching Fox news as my anchor station. (meaning I use many sources, but usually flip to Fox first these days).

Hi, haven’t spoken with you in a while.

You’re right. The Precious doesn’t need a VP, He is so two-faced and has such a large ego that he can handle both positions himself. He’ll just use the full-length mirror that one of his aides is paid to carry around for him whenever he needs to meet with the VP.

#249 Maryland PUMA on 07.25.08 at 11:01 pm

OMG – this was funny….and a JOKE:
`Walking Eagle` senator BARACK OBAMA was invited to address a majorgathering of the American Indian Nation two weeks ago in upstate NewYork . HE spoke for almost an hour on HIS future plans for increasingevery Native American`s present standard of living, should HE one daybecome the President. He referred to his career as a Senator, how hehad signed `YES` for every Indian issue that came to his desk forapproval. Although the Senator was vague on the details of his plan,he seemed most enthusiastic about his future ideas for helping his`red sisters and brothers`. At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribes presented the Senatorwith a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name – Walking Eagle. The proud Senator then departed in his motorcade, waving to the crowds. A news reporter later inquired to the group of chiefs of how theycame to select the new name had given to the Senator. They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.

#256 gay guy on 07.25.08 at 11:08 pm

Good Evening My PUMA FAMILY,
As a former member of the military I was ready to fight for and die for the rights we so love and at times take for granted. Even when I was not entitled to many of those rights for being Gay. I can not believe that today we must fight those very ones who I was ready to defend. But fight we must. It saddened me so when I heard that Obama would not visit the wounded in Germany. I guess he did not want to come down from his high after his rock concert. And now with the stripping of delegates just for exercising a right so many have died for is the ultimate last straw. I am now in 200% mode to find an antidote to the Kool Aid mixture so we may restore democracy to our democratic party. I will have so much pleasure watching the whole Obama machine implode. My one true regret is that I do not like feeling this way. I am normally so optimistic and upbeat. I keep thinking brighter days are ahead. I always go to the Hillary in the Rain photo for my lift me ups. Stay true PUMA’S. Now more then ever we need strength and resolve. We need each other.

#257 Lorelai on 07.25.08 at 11:10 pm

Hi everyone – first post for me today. I’ve read about Edwards, Debra B., Bo’s trip to Europe – it’s all too much for me – so depressing -the Democratic party is falling apart at the seams and our own people are ripping it to shreds for their own egos. I guess I’m just down tonight in a way I haven’t been since May 31st.
The important thing to do is the EW (Electability Watch) taking action to get Hillary’s name in the nomination in Denver. To do that and get templates of letters that you can send to 18 super delegates (one for each million people that voted for Hillary) contact Ricki Lieberman and she can provide all the information needed.
Or, ofcourse, you can write your own letter but it should concise, respectful and accurate. Sorry to be such a wet rag, but my glass feels half empty tonight. And usually I’m the optimist.
My husband is the one with the half empty glass and I’m usually half full – his is not only half empty, it falls off the table, shatters, cuts an artery in his leg and he bleeds out. I, on the other hand, am usually full of joy and optimism – but something is scaring me tonight about Obama and his resilience and teflon qualities.
Anyway, again, sorry to vent in such a negative way, but this is how I feel tonight.
For more on the EW ( Electability Watch) see below:
ELECTABILITY WATCH (EW)

RASMUSSEN: Obama 46%, McCain 41%.
GALLUP: Obama 47%, McCain 41%

From Ricki:
All,

The question all over TV last night has a simple answer:

Q: Who is more qualified to handle forein affairs, Obama or McCain?
A. Neither. The answer is Hillary Clinton.

Again, this evening, after all the attention paid to BO, the presumptuous nominee, it is Hillary Clinton who seems more Presidential than ever. We know that with her as the Democratic nominee, the Democrats will take back the White House. But not Obama who many of us thought was an authentic embarrassment these past few days.

Please take the 15-30 minutes a week to remind the Super Delegates that we want a Democrat in the White House, that their sole job in Denver is to select the electable candidate, and she is HRC. Please let me know, and we will set you up to “do the EW”.

As Kate from Illinois said, “Count me in. Obama becomes more unelectable every day. Hillary can beat McCain. End of story.”
Example of letter to S.D.
“On June 7, Senator Clinton suspended, not ended her campaign. Like many other Democrats across the country, I am writing to at last 18 Super Delegates – one for every million votes Senator Clinton received, whose only job at the convention this summer is to pick the electable candidate in November. I believe that candidate is Senator Hillary Clinton and that she is theperson who can return the Democrats to the White House in 2008, a goal we all share.
In the coming weeks, we will be writing to Super Delegates about Hillary’s electability, and why we believe that BO is not qualified to be President, or fit ased on his own three criteria: Values, judgment and experience. (add the information, links opinions and facts you think most persuasive here).
Thank you for your attention to my point of view on the all important issue of electability and your critical role in returning a Democrat to the White House. I look forward to our continuing conversations in the coming weeks.”
From Lorelai again…..
I believe taking taking action is the only way I’m going to get out of my funk, but also believe that we’ve lost the forest for the trees. The role of the delegates is to nominate the most electable and BO has failed to seal the deal- even after he spent the most money, has gotten an over the top free media ride, and has everyone treating him like a golden boy. He should be much farther ahead given all these “gifts” but I believe, most rational people in their gut, know an empty suit when they see one and can’t climb on board (for fear that at some point they’d be thrown overboard)…..
Thanks for listening Pumas….Lorelai

#256 Gay Guy,

From another gay former service member, hi.

I have the Hillary in the rain photo as my wallpaper on my computer. I love that photo so much.

Obama’s refusal to visit the wounded at Landstuhl didn’t sadden me, it enraged me. How dare he think it more important to work out than to visit the soldiers who are sacrificing so much for us all! It just make me more determined to defeat him.

Murphy – If we do the viral email – this needs to be at the top of the list!

One suggestion for people who are going nuts ‘cos they loose their post when they click “submit” and have to type it over…
What I’ve been doing is, right before hitting ‘submit’, I select the whole post (CTRL + A), then copy it (CTRL + C) then click on the post and submit it. Then if I get the “error” page I refresh the post page, paste my post in the “leave a comment” box (CTRL + V) and the whole post is back intact.
It usually goes through fine the second time I try to submit after getting an ‘error’ page.

The other day I went downtown and into a shop. I was only there for about 5 minutes, and when I came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. I said to him, ‘Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break’? He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a ‘Nazi.’ He glared at me and wrote another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a ‘doughnut eating Gestapo.’ He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn’t care. I came downtown on the bus, and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said, ‘Obama in ’08 .’ I try to have a little fun each day now that I’m retired. It’s important to my health. :D

BWI (Baltimore) airport. Had to take my g/d to catch a plane tonight and while we were wasting time, we walked into one of the newstands. There was a special section of BO stuff, shirts, hats, his books, pens, you name it, it was there. Also, among his stuff was White House stuff/trinkets. The only thing I saw regarding McCain was pins at the cash register, next to the BO pins.

I just got through reading a personal email from Ricki~ she ask to recruit others for the Electability Watch ~ this is what Ricki had to say:

Our target until the convention has to be the delegates and making sure they are the ones who know and who are held accountable to do their job – to select the electable candidate to bring the Democrats back to the White House.

As for others – it would be nice if everyone “knew” but we have to focus on the decision makers. Please recruit people for the Electability Watch so that we are deepening our reach to the SDs…GO GO GO!

TrishfromCanada…

actually I am 100% serious about truth vs. lies in the National Enquirer. I have a Juris Doctorate, and let me tell you they would have been out of business the day they started if what they printed was not true…

The National Enquirer is simply where ex boyfriends, girlfriends, friends, business partners, and others go to sell their secrets. It is the oldest trick in the book, and it smarts like hell.

Edwards did it, he is the father of this poor child, and he should resign in shame and beg the forgiveness of the baby and his wife.

I am tired of men. I apologize ahead of time to all good men, but I really am. And I am tired of the holier than thoughs being dirtier than pigs in slop.

I do laugh though when I think of him screaming about his lost chance at the White House, again. Sorry Edwards, karma cuts like a bitch ya know!

Within just days of each other, both the NY Times & LA Times http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/washingtondc/la-na-challenges25-2008jul25,0,7705783,full.story

have news items that say not-nice things about Obama.
Do you realize the significance of the fact 2 influential liberal newspapers are both having very public doubts about Obama?

It’s all starting to unravel… & the timing for Hillary to come to the aid of her country is just about Perfect!!!

My father was a bit of an agitator back in the day. Organizing unions in the south during the fifties.

#314 gocleffnote on 07.26.08 at 12:06 am

snowtiger, you are right about Debra B. when she agreed to be a delegate she did sign a document saying that she would back the Democratic nominee. I can understand why the DNC would insist on this. She did say that she was going to break the rules, so, she in essence invalidated her own position.

#315 hillstheone on 07.26.08 at 12:07 am

TOPIC: East & West Coast

You know every day you PUMAS all get to start partying on the East Coast before we do out here.

But that just means by the time we log in you’re toasted and more fun to prowl with, ha ha!

More serious topic tho is the Daily Prowls. The way it is now is fine but a greater impact might even be made w/a different approach once in a while because many of us don’t do the daily prowl until we get home from work (midnight your time).

Murphy if you ever want to do a massive Daily Prowl then I think you need to have someone on this side of the country mail it out about 9:00 p.m. PCT. That way we get started on it over here, the next morning the East Coast Pumas finish it off. Or you might like to think about that if you want to target west coast media in particular. Like, maybe if & when Dean and his bus buddies reach Sunny So Cal…

that’s why it’s important PUMA has a wider representation of PUMAS beyond “middle age women” as the MSM describes because the MSM will use a sexist spin to ridicule and thereby nullify the real message PUMA has to offer America…
you can bet the MSM cameras will be ordered from on high to focus on nothing but irate middle age women screaming Hillary! “Many voters still seem to be puzzling over who Obama is, even after a race that has lasted a year and a half. By 58% to 47%, voters identity more with the values and background of McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, than with Obama, according to a newly released Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

Obama may also be slipping in some key states. He lost a narrow lead in Colorado, falling 5 percentage points in the past month, and now trails McCain 46% to 44%, a new Quinnipiac University poll found. In Minnesota, Obama fell 8 percentage points, though he still leads McCain 46% to 44%, the survey found. The polling spanned the five days before Obama went abroad and the first four days of his trip.”

No wonder Obotpods are trying to force their way in here… their candy-date is only 1 % ahead of mccain…
and for all Oba’s money and exposure… it doesn’t seem to be paying off.

They said tonight on FoxNews that he couldnt vist the troops in Germany because he was not allowed as part of his campaign trip; or so his campaign staffers said. But the read the governmental letter and the wording just said that *if* he visited the troops he could take any campaign staffers or news media. The follow-up from the FoxNews person said, well, he visited the Troops in Afganistan and Iraq, didn’t he?

But now you two are saying that he didn’t even do that—wow!

Did you hear the story awhile back, about a soilder returning seeking medical aid… wrote to his 3 Chicago senators… two responded… and one did not. The one that did not, was BHO.

#345 MountainSong on 07.26.08 at 12:18 am

Dick Morris, on FOX, just said what I have been thinking the last 3 months~~~that Bush/Israel will attack Iran BEFORE the election. The Saudis, Kuwaiti’s, Syrians, Iraqis, etc, will call condemn it publicly but celebrate it privately. Part of it hinges on whether Musharraf remains in power.
But if this happens it will get McCain elected. (If Bush doesn’t suspend the election and declare for a special 3rd term because of a national emergency) Israel might postpone the attack if Hillary Clinton got the nomination and was elected, based on her past experience and the support of the ex-clinton administration.
The attack on Iran seems to be a foregone conclusion. Just whether it will occur in Sept., Oct. or after the election.
But Obama would be the absolutely worst pick in the event of war and equally bad for the economy because of his proposed new taxes. I think this european trip is going to come back to bite his egmaniacal ass.

Thank you for helping to clarify the rules.

*****
#211 cosmeta

Thank you for the informative perspective on party rules. I’m not sure I agree with you, though, for two reasons. First, our rights are to some degree inherent. Parties and primaries may not be in the constitution, but our system of representative government in practice DOES work through a party system, which has largely become a two-party system. Our party has primaries and caucuses for the purpose of representing us. Not only is our right to be represented inherent, it’s implicit in the very fact that they ask us to go and vote or stand to be counted. Second, it’s not politically expedient for the party to blow us off. They don’t want to represent us well, but they want us to vote for them. Is that it?

*****
#20 DancesWithPumas

I meant “war” in a figurative sense. You’ve been engaging in this “war” for months! Again, in a figurative sense… sorry.

*****
#108 Goalucard4Hill, #151 pamawo,

Thank you for your earlier efforts and for letting me know that I’m not alone in seeing the infinitely significant implications in what the real problem with what the party has done in this case.

I understand the party rules a little better now and understand that, as a delegate, Debra Bartoshevich was supposed to say that she would support whoever became the nominee as a result of the convention. But I also believe that it was the Democratic Party of Wisconsin who went to the DNC, that the DNC told the Democratic Party of Wisconsin to handle it themselves, and that the result was, well, we know the result.

My point is that the rule may exist, but that they did not have to do what they did. They chose to. Knowing that so many of us stalwart Democrats have felt unrepresented as a result of the process and because of their inappropriate actions and inactions, they could have deferred to higher principles of democracy rather than blindly and stupid enforce a party rule.

As for what we’re doing being about Hillary, I disagree. We’re doing what we’re doing because of the principle of equal treatment (which Hillary did not receive) and because of the principle of full democratic participation (which people in caucus states did not enjoy), i.e. because of principles that were stepped on and tossed out with the trash during the nomination process.

I also tend to dismiss the idea that Debra Bartoshevich is a martyr, also because I think that the significance is rather about a principle of democacy. Her case proves the point that the party is willing to step on lifelong Democrats and to deny them a right as Democrats to dissent at a time when dissension is exactly the right way to be a true Democrat.

Dissent is essential to democracy. Shouldn’t supposed leaders of a party that calls itself Democratic know that?

that’s why it’s important PUMA has a wider representation of PUMAS beyond “middle age women”

Women in our society are degraded the longer they live. Die young and beautiful or live a good life, be a mother or a single woman…wisdom does not come from youth.

Degrading women of any age isn’t acceptable. If all Hillary’s supports were 85 years old, that wouldn’t be grounds for disqualification or disrespect.

Juris Doctorate or not, the Enquirer is a rag magazine that has been sued many times for the number of lies it writes. And when we start holding that trashy filth of a gossip magazine up as a reliable source then I know its definitely time for me to say good night. That and the fact I’m getting booted on a regular basis here tonight has left me frustrated.

After all the goings on around the world, it has become clear to me that it is time to consider forming a new party. Throughout history whenever the leaders of a country reach a certain level of corruption and arrogance, the people are forced to take over and force a new era. Otherwise, the country and its government will be taken over or collapse.

We have seen this twice in our own history. First with the Revolution against England, and second in the Civil War. In Japan it was the Bakamatsu that forced change from Shogun rule back to Imperial rune and to modern times.

A new era is dawning in our country. We should embrace this new era. We need to take our 18 million voices and raise them in a new and better political party, a party that is truly of the people, and not for the inner circle. The two existing political parties have become corrupted and ineffective in executing the will of the membership and working for the good of the country. We cannot allow this to continue.

We PUMAs are like the Japanese Rounin, masterless Samauri, who do what is right, not what some corrupt leader tells us to do.

Leaders like Cindy Shehan are lighting the way for us lesser souls. We need to embrace her and all the stalwart individuals who are taking us into the new era. We will no longer follow the Jester to our demise. Let them destroy themselves while we work together to create that new and better day.

Perhaps we have more delegates who support Hillary than are willing to admit it. Seems to me that if they are threatened with being stripped of their vote, they might not be as forthright with where their support lies. Maybe continuing to encourage delegates to vote for Hillary, showing them by volume of letters from the voice of the people, is the way to go. Then–and most important–it is vital that we try to find some way to insure Hillary’s name be placed in nomination. I thought we had the right to be vocal, but perhaps the effort needs to be “underground.” This is war, but there are many ways to fight a war. A surprise attack could be very effective.

trish,

the National Enquirer has been sued less than the NYTimes. it is a gossip magazine, but it prints more truth than any newspaper in any town. It is not owned by anyone with an agenda to promote OR a candidate to foster, instead it exists to make money. Honest but trashy. I can respect it because it does not pretend to be more than it is. If more people/papers did this the world would be a better place.

Just to make a comment about bringing the Superdelegates back into Hillary’s camp.

We need to stay focused w/this task, fellow PUMAS, yet at the same time, know this.

Believe it or not, I feel very strongly that there will be a certain number of delegates who actually will make up their minds to back Hillary AT THE CONVENTION, as they listen to her speech and absorb everything they’ve been processing via PUMA and the media these last weeks.

So, do not worry your sweet Puma heads if the Superdelegate count can’t be figured out exactly prior to Convention.

Perhaps the Pumas who will pinch their noses and reluctantly vote for BO (because they cannot in their worst nightmares vote for any Republican) should realize that BO is the Trojan horse of the Republicans to keep control of the WH. The machinations of Brazille to get BO designated nominee of the Democrats were evident long before the following article was written by Rosemary Regello. Read and weep.

http://www.thecityedition.com/Pages/Archive/Summer08/BrazileRoveConnect.html

All efforts must be exerted to get Hillary to agree to be in nomination and to accept the nomination if she wins it “fairly and squarely”.

Sometimes I think I should not say what I am thinking. Always think someone else knows better. But the delegates and supers need to protect themselves in order to have a voice come August. Is there a way to petition for putting Hillary’s name in nomination? We need something solid for that.
BTW I mentioned names of those not attending in Denver being put on signs or banners. It would be great if we could contribute whatever we could afford to help with the trip as we request our names be included. Each person could contribute as they were able (even if only $1) and feel that their voice and presence would be with OUR PUMAS.

#390 murphy on 07.26.08 at 12:43 am

the national enquirer is a gossip magazine. they print the dirty laundry of posh people — but posh people have some pretty dirty laundry.

miq2xu, one of THE smartest bloggers on the intertubes had a great article tonight on the Edwards story. His point, and I agree completely, is not that we should dig around in the Edwards’ Family’s private lives, but that the timing of the leaks to the Enquirer about Edwards is RAWTHER peculiar. He posits that the Obama Campaign was behind the leak in order to kneecap Edwards back in February. AND that they did it again because they dont want him as a serious VP contender.

Again, no one here has anything but sympathy/empathy for E Edwards, and I havent heard anyone gloating with schadenfreude in this whole episode, if true. Anyway — miq2xu is ALWAYS worth the read.

Hey Folks, thought I’d stop in to say hello. Nothing thought provoking to offer. This has been an exhausting week.

I agree with Jennifer on the John Edwards story. Evenmoreso than the source of the story is that no media source (except Fox) is touching it. And, that’s not the usual case.

The media is like vultures…if it even hints of truth (or not) they will jump all over it. Not even the other gossip columns are talking about it. And, I believe it’s because Edwards was on nobama’s short list for VP. And, he was supposed to be nobama’s answer for the middle-class male vote.

It’s one story that I wouldn’t mind seeing go away…I feel for his wife and kids (even though the media was all over Hillary about monica).

IMO, the only reason mainstream media reports anything negative about nobama is to ‘appear’ balanced.

Good thinking, kp, but first let’s figure out how to help the ones who want to go, Get There!

It has been pitiful how hard I have tried to connect this week w/fellow PUMAS to come up with a plan for transportation to Denver. I cannot even book a flight back (I’m flying back), because I don’t know where I’m flying TO until the first half of the trip gets planned!

i.e., roadblocked…

Pitiful, just pitiful.

If there is a silver lining I guess it is that a little voice told me last week my plans will end up getting made “at the last minute,”…..

Still, I find it stressful to think about so I decided to stop thinking about it. Someone wants to go with me they know where to find me…

I wouldn’t mind if it was on-par with Spiderman (which still has some pretty out-there stuff), but my bro said it was “nonstop” violence. He mentioned a bank scene & said it just continued on from there…

I would like to see it myself, but maybe I’ll rent it so I can fast-forward through anything that’s too creepy!

#401 murphy on 07.26.08 at 12:51 am

rec’d this interesting insight in email from K:

Replacing Hillary Clinton delegates reminds of union busting tactics. In
the early 80′, we voted to join a union where I worked.

The company refused to recognize the union, we went on strike, and they
promptly fired us (It was the Reagan years).

They replaced us with scabs, then held a decertification vote, allowing the
scabs they had hand picked to vote. The union was voted out. Sound
familiar?

This company had hired a law firm that specialized in union busting. I
wonder if the DNC is using their play book?

“Berlin speech — contradictory estimates of crowd size. Locals said 20,000 not 200,000.”

I’ve done some photography… I wondered why they cropped to maybe 100 / 200 deep. If there were 200,000 they would have gotten a wider, and therefore, more representative shot.

TOPIC: Good Entertainment

P.S. This is still my favorite video, and I still love KT Tunstall!

http://powerofpuma.blogspot.com/2008/07/hold-on-this-ones-for-you-puma-party.html

I am with you on this video….always makes me happy and remember what this is all about.

{{{{{ Murphy }}}} Idea for the pre-convention meeting. Have a media set up so videos like this can be seen and SUNG to by us PUMAs while we are protesting.
Memories from the good old days of protesting against Viet Nam, MUSIC where the crowd can be a part of. Really brings people together than just the run of the mill chants of these days. I go to some union protests at the University were I work, and the chants suck after one minute. I guess I have visions of some sort of 4 foot screen, pumping out one of these videos with music and all of the PUMAs singing on and off key and having a great time. I am going to try to download some off of Youtube, upload them on an MP4 player, so if you guys think this is a good idea we can do it.

My 5 cents.

#433 Rancho on 07.26.08 at 1:28 am

Back to Kpw26 #389 – If the regional coordinators can hook us up with names of people going to Denver from our areas, maybe “sponsoring” could be another method of support. ( I have already donated to the bus fund, but would like to do a little more!)

TOPIC: SF Chronicle Reporter wrote me back

So this is interesting, yesterday I emailed the link for the story on the Rove – Donna Brazile connection to a bunch of msm. One was this woman journalist at the SF Chronicle (I just found this awesome article by her about Hillary!
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/02/29/EDENVAGCM.DTL)

So anyway, tonight I have an email back from her but it is in shorthand.

I was asking if anyone might consider doing an investigative story on the above topic, here is what she wrote:

I would ..but I’ve not been invited to do any 1op to 1 a programs in the coming month… Christine

…anybody know what that means??
Anyway, it _was_ nice to get a reply from her. :)

Here’s what I just submitted at that story about McAuliffe and VP:

h t t p : / / latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/07/mcauliffe-cli-1.html

Hillary has stated that she does NOT want to be VP. She would only take it if requested as a favor by the party.

Why should she give up her own Senate career to iron Obama’s shirt for eight years! The years between 60-68.

Someone else would take her NY Senate seat. When she was free again, at age 68, would you expect her to bump off that person (if a Democrat)?

Any true friend would try to get someone else to take the VP job, not Hillary.

[[ Thank you for the informative perspective on party rules.

Is that it?]]

I actually agree with you and as a matter of democratic principle. If I did not, I would not be here. Yet I do know that *legally* (and according to party rules and bylaws), the law was not on her side. She would have been so much better off had she stuck to, my vote is for Hillary.

Then again, I might be talking out of turn here because I missed most of yesterday’s blog reading so I did not read the article about the ruling; and am missing the details on the *exact* wording.

Will try to find it so I can be better informed….

Thanks for standing up for what you believe.

Okay… just read the article on Debra

It appears that another Hillary delegate has replaced her … so at least Hillary still has a vote.

“After booting Bartoshevich, the administrative committee appointed Marilyn Nemeth to take her spot as a Clinton delegate. ”

WELCOME HOME Dear friend,

If you’ve got $250 (or more) left in your pockets after what the GOP has done to this country, please join us to give Senator Hillary Clinton a rousing Welcome Home and Job Well Done! Monies raised will go to pay down her campaign debt – especially the small vendors whom she is determined to get paid. It’s been a long and difficult campaign for all of us, but she’s been a remarkable trooper, every step of the way – never faltering, never getting discouraged, never losing her composure and her wonderful smile. She would love to see you to thank you, in person, for your great faith in her, your support, and for your hard work.

Good morning,
Off to work, have a good day Pumas. I had Hannity on last night didn’t see all of it but what I did see they were riping no name apart and refered to his trip as his European vacation! I am upset about what happened in WI,the gall!

#543 Kerri on 07.26.08 at 6:01 am

I, too, am disgusted at the delegate stripping. I wrote a letter to the Wisconsin comittee leader, as per the EW, but apparently they don’t care.
THIS right here, is why WE PUMA’s exist! And why, regardless of the outcome, I’m sure we will continue to fight well through the new year and forward. Corruption does not go away overnight and indeed, it is always darkest before the dawn. I shudder to think it, but I have a feeling we are far from having seen that darkest hour. :/
I thank the gods for my fellow PUMA’s though and find comfort in the comraderie of so many varied individuals, all over this planet who are willing to stand up and FIGHT for the right to be free.
NY PUMA’s met for the first time this week (Jay’s group) and had a great time passing out flyers and getting out our message. We’ve already made a date to meet up on Tuesday to continue our efforts and plan on having a weekly meet up through to the convention. If you’re in the area (Manhattan) and wanna lend a hand get at me and I’ll put you in our detail. :) Kerriwyn at aol.com
I’m off to sleep now. Night/Morning Pac. ;)

#547 ladyhawkke on 07.26.08 at 6:41 am

Good morning, did I miss anything last night?

#548 chrissieD on 07.26.08 at 6:42 am

i was just wondering abt the viral email thing, since there was a concern abt pumas in the US who do not have access to internet and instead of doing like 50 reasons not to vote for Obama isn’t it possible to do 50 reasons to vote for hillary at the convention so it doesn’t have a negative tone and instead of viral email send a plane out in each state you know like some companies do and then to put the reasons using those smoke/air writing things that look like clouds and then write in the sky a reason per state this would create a lot of awareness. obviously the reason would have to be brief and summarised and puma in capital letters in the bottom this message obviously has to be written in the sky at places where it can be seen most in each state. Just a thought this would create a lot of awareness especially if it was all done at the same time

#549 chrissieD on 07.26.08 at 6:46 am

not sure if its possible but it would create visibility and awareness and get people talking at least and a lot of people would be able to see it and if it was all done at the same time in each state and also all the positives abt why hillary needs to get the nomination and the convention. since this is really what its all abt

#550 chrissieD on 07.26.08 at 7:02 am

and also abt the bitter comments i also wanted to know if it would be possible to donate to some worthy causes through Puma like the family of the mom that committed suicide over the whole home loan thing so that people could see that pumas are taking positive constructive action and talking solutions, not problems or empty sayings(hope, change etc). Just wanted to know and how people overseas like us could donate to these causes. I mean this would be continueing what Hillary stood and still stands for – helping the grassroots people as well

#550 chrissieD, your compassion is outstanding, but, for PUMA to donate to any single cause is not the way for us to go right now. We need to continue with what we are doing now, we need to get Hillary nominated and into the White House where she can bring about REAL change and help the families that are hurting.

#14 dances w/Pumas I will say that I liked two items on his demonstrtation agenda: Global Warming and No Borders.
I like the idea of people being allowed to live whereever they chose, that would be one way of yaying or naying governments.
————————–

I absolutely did not like the idea of open borders. We should have complete control over our borders. This is one of Bush’s ideas that Lou Dobbs rails against all the time. Open borders from Canada thru Mexico. Absolutely not! I want to know who is coming into this country.

#558 ladyhawkke on 07.26.08 at 8:22 am

#44 Maxgrader Although I feel sorry for Edwards’ wife and family, I have no sympathy for him whatsoever. He talked down to Hillary and lied about not supporting either candidate; yet when Hillary won W VA, he immediately came out and endorsed Obama, thus stealing Clinton’s thunder. Furthermore, godforbid it was Bill Clinton, we would still be hearing all about it. Have you noticed all the Obama backers have a curse against them? What goes around comes around! Call me bitter! Yes I am.

#559 jenniforhillary on 07.26.08 at 8:26 am

Ladyhawkke, I have noticed that too. Just one more reason to shy from him like the plague.

Also, in regards to John Edwards, he has made his bed and I am GLAD that he has been outed for being a liar and a bad husband. One more reason his vote for that man is meaningless, or meaningful depending on how you view it.

Transparency Reaffirms Denver’s
Commitment to Free Speech & Public Safety

“For officers that will be involved in crowd management, the training focuses on how to facilitate the safe movement of crowds throughout downtown,” explained Denver Police Chief Gerald Whitman. “The emphasis is not on arresting people, but on gaining voluntary compliance with requests that enable everyone to safely exercise their First Amendment rights. Our police officers have always had – and continue to have – a range of options available to them when responding to unlawful activities, whether during large events or normal daily life. The preference is always to gain voluntary compliance with requests that aim to ensure public safety and everyone’s ability to safely exercise their First Amendment rights.”

I heard on tv just few mins. ago (dont know what channel) that Obama got what he wanted and its the pic. of his statehood. Can we do ad if he does with his other faces? Nose in air, swagger chewing gum with mouth open, finger on cheek and his looks at Hillary? We missed a point he had. In Germany and Colorado I think where he had 70,000 .He gives publicized rock concerts they said and free beer in Germany and 2 bands. It gets great crowd they are feeling good and there he is the messiah bringing in big crowds.Do we have time to do something like that for Hillary and make delegates take a second look with a hugh crowd?

#565 TrishFromCanada I have a problem with the bill she introduced to help immigrant families. Also, with the bills co-sponsors who are promoting illegal Cubans coming into the US, mainly thru Miami and the Keys. “Honda and Clinton were joined by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ruben Hinojosa (D-TX), and Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), and Henry Cuellar (D-TX) as the bill’s original co-sponsors. Honda said the importance of this bill is underscored by its bipartisan nature.” I’m from Miami and I despise Ros-Lehtinen and her husband. She and the Mas family, along with Jose and Lincoln Diaz-Balart ruined Miami. Because of our government’s pandering to the Cubans/Mexicans, etc. for the Hispanic vote, no one speaks English and they demand and expect services. Lots of illegals there and that is why I had to leave. The bill makes no mention of illegals but you can bet it helps them. The “wet food-dry foot” policy that Bill Clinton signed is a disaster. Clinton wanted to lift the embargo and the Cubans went nuts, so he passed a bad bill. Immediately, Castro emptied his jails and there were thousands of rafts coming to Miami from Cuba. I know I’m venting but illegal immigration is a big problem. Nancy Pelosi is being blamed for the sanctuary city in SF and the killing of those innocent men by an illegal living there.

Murphy, goanderson – as I am still up to only #180 on this thread and desperately attempting to catch up. But I did wish to comment on both your desire or have ridden motorcycles. A big (((((((to both)))) of you! I’ve been riding since I was eighteen. Although I tell folks I’m 29 (and they don’t believe anymore lol) I was born in ’55. A female biker was a rarity in those days. The dealership where I purchase my first bike took a picture as I was their first female to buy a bike.
One of my favorite stories from the late seventies where I was in a parking lot getting the helmet on, etc. where this guy begins to sauntered as if he was trying to look ‘manly’ and said to me “Girls are not supposed to ride motorcycles.” Well, not ever like being stereotyped since I was a kid and not easily taking to remarks such as that I responded; “Yeah? Well show me the law that states that!” Without a response he ‘sauntered’ away.
Murphy, I wish I knew you when I lived in Peabody, I would have help you learn to ride…..although that was quite a few years back when I lived there…:-)

the thing i feel abt illegal immigration since we have a lot of refugees in south africa as well is that these poor people cannot help for the situation they are in. refugees/ illegal immigrants are wonderful people just like you and me and in most cases they escaping a terrible situation in their home country. what i do have a problem with though is the leaders in our countries that are responsible for condoning and not doing anything abt dictators/ dictators in the making as well and as a result people are forced to flee their home countries and come to others as illegal immigrants or refuggees so I say leaders of the world need to start remedying situations in countries (condemning these dictators) so that that people wouldn’t feel compelled to escape their home countries. i mean its so sad. :-(

#587 chrissieD on 07.26.08 at 9:36 am

neways thats just my opinion

#588 chrissieD on 07.26.08 at 9:38 am

and also not through wars since i don’t believe in them. thats why i was for hillary since i believe she has excellent negotiation skills and would come up with viable solutions to remedy these situations in these countries without war or bloodshed. anyways thats just my opinion :-)

Every time we don’t STAND and be counted, we condone by not speaking out!!! There comes a time in each person’s life when you must either speak up against the evils that you see, or by your silence have acquiesed to those evils. This is one of those times!!! The DNC and others like that have not taken my voice and do not own my vote. I will STAND!!!!

Unfortunately, I didn’t want to believe the story about Edwards back in October of 2007 and I was thinking and wondering when this would be big news and resurface “cause it was just a little blurb on the page when I read it. I never repeated what I read to anyone. And sure enough the mother of his love child appears in the news once again. It is such a shame because I’m sure Elizabeth encouraged John to continue campaigning for the Presidency as sick as she was. I read where her cancer was out of remission just this past March. Elizabeth is a wonderful lady and Mother. God bless them all.
