Blue Cats Rainy Overnight

from, In Time of War
XXV

Nothing is given: we must find our law.
Great buildings jostle in the sun for domination;
Behind them stretch like sorry vegetation
The low recessive houses of the poor.

We have no destiny assigned us:
Nothing is certain but the body; we plan
To better ourselves; the hospitals alone remind us
Of the equality of man.

Children are really loved here, even by police:
They speak of years before the big were lonely,
And will be lost.

And only
The brass bands throbbing in the parks foretell
Some future reign of happiness and peace.

We learn to pity and rebel.

From, In Time of War by W.H. Auden, 1938

Time for a little reflection and recharging. Be wonderful to each other. We really are all in this together or all outside alone.

Tomorrow is another day!

Hi Guys,
What’s up tonight?

#8 gostrumcat on 07.22.08 at 9:16 pm

Taking a breather after catching up on the previous thread. It was hopping today.

#9 ElyLos Angeles on 07.22.08 at 9:21 pm

I received this e-mail today.
During her campaign I received all the e-mails to my yahoo. However, today I received this one in my Hotmail addie and nothing in Yahoo.
In the previous thread, in post 419 they said received a diferent letter. I tried the links but they don’t work, because they were removed already.
Do you think maybe Obambi campaign people is manipulating Hillary’s site? What do you think?

Dear Elisa,

Since 2001, I have served as the honorary chair of HillPAC, an organization dedicated to helping working families. It is our goal to fight for a better future for every child, and for every family. To keep fighting for those who get up every day, no matter what the odds, and never give in. For those who never back down, and those who always stand their ground. HillPAC works to elect Democratic candidates to office who share these same ideals and goals and I’m proud to serve as the honorary chair and I hope you will join me in this mission.

Together, we began this campaign by starting a conversation with the American people, a conversation about where our country was headed and how we could work together to bring about the change America needs.

Our campaign for the White House may be over, but I hope that conversation continues through HillPAC. I’m so grateful for everything you did to help me over the past year and a half, and I want to make sure that as we keep fighting for change, you are just as deeply involved now as you were then.

So let’s keep the conversation going. I want you to tell me about the issues that matter to you. I want to hear what’s happening with you and your family — how high gas prices, the war in Iraq, and the struggling economy are affecting you. Your feedback will help steer the direction of HillPAC and how we are going to tackle America’s problems together.

Click here to tell me about the issues that matter to you and your family today.

I’m so proud of the campaign we ran together because we focused on the issues that make a difference to people in their everyday lives. And I heard every day on the campaign trail what that meant to the people we’re fighting for. All the stories I heard shaped the campaign we ran.

In the weeks, months, and years to come, I won’t let my dedication to our values waver and by fighting to make sure Barack Obama is our next President we will finally have a Democrat in the White House who is also dedicated to the things we care so deeply about. I’m going to work as hard as I can between now and November to help Barack Obama win the White House and Democrats win bigger majorities in Congress. I hope you will continue to fight with me because together, if we don’t back down and don’t give up we can make all the difference.

So let’s continue our vital conversation about the direction America is taking. Tell me what you’re concerned about right now: the issues that affect your life and the principles you want to keep fighting for.

Let’s keep the conversation going — tell me what you think.

Thank you so much for all you are doing. I’m really looking forward to continuing our great conversation.

Sincerely,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

I happened to catch BO on the evening news ( didn’t know the TV was on MSNBC:(–at any rate, the Error Apparent was so arrogant during the interview that I bet most people will be keeping barf bags by their television sets from now on. He is an insufferable ego-maniac. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. We can blame the MSM and the press for giving Mr. E-Z Pass the free ride that has placed our great nation in such jeopardy.

Good Evening Everyone,

I getting ready to work on the update for PDOP’s email form, it will be updated at 6 AM CST tomorrow. So if anyone hasn’t yet completed this round, do so tonight and then come back tomorrow and send the email to the next round of Supers. We are now including Hillary’s Supers.

Anyways, as I’m working on this, I’m watching Hannity and Colmes and Sean Hannity just called out Wolfsen as a sellout for Obama. Hillarious.

#9 ElyLos Angeles on 07.22.08 at 9:21 pm,

Sounds like Hillary writing to the honorary chair of HillPAC.

Can you provide the link for us to make comment.

I was especially intriqued by the wording, “Our campaign for the White House may be over, but I hope that conversation continues through HillPAC.”

The words, MAY BE.

I always take a maybe as a maybe yes, and maybe no…

Anyway, I would like to write to her and say, MAYBE you should seek the nomination and then we can continue our conversation. :o )

#21 MamaPuma on 07.22.08 at 9:35 pm

This is MAMA

today has been momentous.

You are meeting new challenges and doing it so well that we can take on this Goliath.

Our site crashed. We could not get onto the site to see what was happening.

Well let me tell you what was happening in the background for the PUMAs that could not tell you what they were doing.

PUMAs are brave, smart and clever.

The site was down but letter after letter kept coming in from PUMAs reporting on their work:

They said
could not do the third task because they asked for zips – so I copied the letters and faxed them.

could not do the third task because they asked for zips – so I went on the web and got the zips for the state.

could not do the third task because they asked for zips – so I copied the letters, got the addresses and snail mailed them.

This is an army that can not and will not be defeated. I am humbled by you determination, your willingness to work and your courage.

You exemplify all that is wonderful in the American spirit.

I love you
Mama

#22 murphy on 07.22.08 at 9:36 pm

Hey Goalucard, how are you?

Not sure you saw my reply to you the other day, but just wanted to say how much I admire all that you do, and at the same time taking care of grandchildren. Puma PAC members are so amazing.

You said you were old enough to be my grandfather, which may be true, but you’d be a pretty young grandpa for an almost 40 year old! Either way, I call you Grandpa Puma in my head. Don’t tell anyone!

I don’t think so…I received an email from info@hillaryclinton.com that starts out like the first paragraph, but then it differs. There is no link to tell her what issues concern you nor is there any mention of BOs name. The link is to the Bush administration …

‘Will you join me in sending a strong message to Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt to put women’s health ahead of right-wing ideology?

Click here to send a message to the Bush administration asking them to protect women’s health.’

Good evening PUMA’s

Today was a bad day for web sites going down. All 3 of my sites were down and I was told that a bad storm hit a main hub that took down many sites and mail servers.

Also, the letter from Hillary is a true letter from her. She is no longer paying for hillaryclinton.com it is being paid for by “Friends of Hillary” and the web site links.hillaryclinton. com is a sub-domain of hillaryclinton.com. HillPac IS a web site that Hillary belongs to. Two letters were sent, 1st one asking to sign a petition and the 2nd one to let Hillary know the things we are most concerned about.

#31 virginia.puma on 07.22.08 at 9:50 pm

Found this on teh DNC08 web site”

Credentials Committee
Elected to chair the Credentials Committee are Alexis Herman, James Roosevelt, Jr. and Eliseo Roques-Arroyo. Alexis Herman served as U.S. Secretary of Labor from 1997 to 2001. She served as DNC Chief of Staff for Chairman Ron Brown and later was named CEO of the 1992 Democratic National Convention. Since 2005, she has served as a Co-Chair of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee and also served as a Co-Chair of the Commission on Presidential Nomination Timing and Scheduling. James Roosevelt, Jr. is President and CEO of Tufts Health Plan, a Massachusetts based Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and was formerly Associate Commissioner for Retirement Policy of the Social Security Administration in the Clinton Administration. He is the chief legal counsel for the Massachusetts Democratic Party and Co-Chair of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee. Eliseo Roques-Arroyo, a native of Puerto Rico, served as Executive Assistant to Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Senate Minority Leader Miguel Hernandez-Agosto and to Puerto Rico Delegate to Congress Antonio J. Colorado. He is a former Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Puerto Rico and presently a member of the DNC.

The Credentials Committee is charged with coordinating issues around the selection of delegates and alternates to the Convention and will likely meet in the summer. The committee will issue a report that is the first official item of business at the Convention.

re-post from downstairs, to see if Matt and other young people (or others of any age) that participate at night have any thoughts and ideas:

_______________________________

Attracting YOUNG PEOPLE

New polls show a diminishing percentage of young people saying they will vote in November.

BO has been counting on a high youth turnout to help him win.

Is the BO youth “cult” becoming disillusioned after BO’s flip-flops have exposed him as just another politician who will say and do anything to get elected?

QUESTION: How do we get this group excited about PUMA and the idea of “turning down BO”?

One way might be by getting them excited about the idea of joining a REVOLT against the corruption in the Dem Party; against the deceiving marketing, fueled by the media, that has produced the hype and mania surrounding BO. The youth (like the Liberal Left) has been used, deceived and taken for a ride to get a shoddy candidate elected. To realize this is to want to REVOLT!

Let’s galvanize the youth with that energy for rebellious outcry… to SAY NO TO BO and to PROTEST what the Party and the media have done and wants us to do.

***HOW TO REACH THEM?

…through facebook, MySpace, youth blogs, youth publications, chain emails, craigslist politics section, flyers all over college campuses and youth hangouts, handing out flyers & brochures & talking with them at youth events, etc, etc.

Letter from Hillary.
I received an email from Hillary (www.hillpac.com) today also. Subject line is “What matters to you.” It said pretty much what #9 ElyLos Angeles said above. There are 3 places to click to send her a message about what you feel the issues are that still affect you. The link is http://www.hillpac.com/action/issues/?sc=2498&utm_source=2498&utm_medium=e. There is also a button to “contribute.” The contribution page looks just like Hillary’s page used to look. The site says at the bottom: “Paid for by HillPac, Inc. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.” The email had Hillary’s pic & looked just like her site except that it just had “Hillary” with a red/wh/blue ribbon at the top.
Is it legit? who knows anymore….

Hello, back from the gym.

Everyone, please take time for at least 30 minutes of exercise. Especially, in stressful times. From now til November 4, will be a stressful time for us all.

When my daughter was going through chemotherapy, we made going to the gym a priority. Even though she was feeling sluggish, even 15 minutes of exercise (plus the steam room or hot tub) really helped to get her through it.

KendalBlue, thank you so much for sharing your experience with your counterpart. In light of your post, I’ll try to be nicer to my family members (majority obama supporters).

MamaPuma, thank you for sharing how we preservere(?) in light of crisis. As our timeline goals get closer and pass, we will have to stand firm.

http://hillaryclinton.com/ us still online, and the last post to the blog dated for 7//11/08 for the Winning T-Shirt.

This is the lead-in post:

Dear Friend, Get your t-shirt today!

I have so many wonderful memories from the millions of people I met on the campaign trail. Over the past year and a half, I have also collected a few cherished mementos. They are a reflection of the many ups and downs that we went through together and represent our many accomplishments.

In May, Chelsea announced our “Project T-Shirt” contest, and I never imagined we would have such an outpouring of support and great designs. We received almost five thousand amazing entries, and more than 125,000 of you voted for your favorite design.

While the primary race may be over, I think the winning t-shirt — and it won by a landslide — still makes a wonderful statement about everything you and I accomplished in this historic race and our determination to keep fighting for what we believe in.

If you contribute $50 today you’ll get a t-shirt with the winning design and continue to help me pay down our campaign debt.

Click here to make a contribution of $50 and receive one of our winning t-shirts.

Denitza of Weehawken, New Jersey submitted the winning t-shirt. I’d like to thank Denitza and the thousands of others who put their time, talent, and efforts into all the great designs that were submitted.

I know you’re as proud as I am of everything we achieved and I hope I can count on you to work with me on the issues that brought us together. By helping us pay down the debt from one of the hardest-fought races in Democratic primary history, you’re making a real difference today for all our future efforts.

Plus, if you contribute $50, you’ll get one of our winning t-shirts. It’s a great statement about the spirit that drove our campaign, and I hope you’ll get one for yourself!

Contribute $50 to help pay down our debt, and you’ll get a t-shirt with our winning design.

Thank you for everything!
Hillary

Maryland Puma – my eyes are so tired that I can’t tell if the words are smaller or larger.
In regard to the letter from Hillary on what I care most about it…I couldn’t tell if it was legit or not…..and what I want to answer is that I care most that she continue her fight for the nomination – duh!
I was so disgusted by the front page of the New York Times today which I try to just throw in a pile before I run off to work and don’t even look – Obama looking as if he were winning over the Afghans and Iranians…it is nauseating.
When will people wake up? Also, that Andrea Mitchell clip of her blasting Bo for his fake press stuff is good stuff – maybe some people who were in the bag at NBC are waking up and thinking for themselves. Maybe the newer polls have something to do with it?

But I’ll more than make up for it tomorrow! I’m attending a get together with the family and from I hear, there’s a good possibility that I will be bringing in at least 20 new PUMAS…

I was at work today (2nd day of training) blah!

tomorrow is the last day of training…thank Hillary (thats what i say, instead of thank goodness) haha

I personally don’t believe Hillary will be throwing in the towel. She keeps her word (odd for a politician.) She said she was in it to win it…IT isn’t over yet.

Night everyone! Can’t wait to play catch up tomorrow after work!!! :)

We’ll get our nomination back!

That’s a PUMA PROMISE!!

I read somewhere that MO grew up in Jesse Jackson’s household – as a foster child or something….I think I even saw that on this site. Does anyone else remember that…there was a picture of her and everything as a teenager. She has some historical connection to that family which is why the JJ comments that were so rude about BO make no sense. All staged in my opinion.

Subject: What matters to me (as per your online request)

______________________________

I want you to tell me about the issues that matter to you. I want to hear what’s happening with you and your family — how high gas prices, the war in Iraq, and the struggling economy are affecting you. Your feedback will help steer the direction of HillPAC and how we are going to tackle America’s problems together. Tell me below about the issues that matter to you and your family today.

- Hillary

***********************************

The SUBMIT BUTTON to the link above did not function, so please see the below to read my response,

What matters to me is THIS:

- Hillary won the popular vote.

- Hillary had 308 Electorial Map.

- Howard Dean and the DNC gave the election to Obama at the beginning by disenfranchising million of Florida and Michigan voters by reducing the delegate count and popular vote to Zero.

- Howard Dean and the DNC gave the election to Obama near the end of the Primaries by disenfranchising millions of Florida and Michigan voters by cutting the delegate count in half.

- Media played favorites

- Barack Obama and his campaign staff did nothing to try to get Florida and Michigan a revote.

- Barack Obama supporters I have met online are the most rudest, crudest people I have ever encounted.

So what matters to me is that HILLARY GET THE NOMINATION IN AUGUST OF 08.

Other than that, UNIVERSAL Healthcare, gasoline, food, women’s issues. But most of all a FREE DEMOCRATIC NATION devoid of Chicago gangland style politics that is 10 times worse than Bush.

I will NEVER, EVER vote for BHO. NEVER!!!

So what matters to me if Hillary is not on the ballot and a roll call taken is this,

That we defeat him in the fall and elect John McCain in Hillary’s stead.

Sincerely
[My name]

[[ Yes, obviously Hillaryclinton, com is being controled by obambi staff.]]

Any website is owned and controlled by the person who,

1. Opens the account
2. Has a password to enter that account
3. Has ftp access to upload/download files via ftp
3. Ftp access is also password protected.

So the only way someone other than yourself can access your site is if YOU GIVE THEM PERMISSION to do so.

In concluding, I doubt very much that Hillary’s website is being controlled by BHO people.

That does not mean that BHO folks cannot post to blogs… but that is another matter and has absolutely nothing to do with ownership and/or control of Admin priveldges.

#33 Good idea regarding attracting disillusioned young voters. I will make an effort to head up to the University of Washington on one of my walks and poster the inside of the bathroom stall doors again. I like that because there is no peer pressure or distractions in a bathroom stall so ripping off a tag with the PUMAblog address is easy and private.

#76 hillfan4mccain on 07.22.08 at 10:30 pm, WROTE,

[[ Course Cooper says Bush seems to be aligning myself with BO on Iran.

What is going on???!!!! ]]

It’s the other way around… that’s what’s going on. Haven’t you learned by now that BHO’s main tactic is to take an idea or a controvesy and to use a distraction as a way to conquer his opponents. He tries to match what they are saying to blur the issues and take the focus off of himself.

Bush has been negociating with Iran for a long time… except he has done it through his advocates. Where BHO differs and where he has flip-flopped is because during the primary debates with Hillary he said that he would met IN PERSON with the leaders of Iran, Cuba, Hamas, etc.

But now, after he won the primary and became the presumptive nominee, he is slowing moving toward the Bush Administration’s policy. Cause now he says, talking and negociating is done in steps or through others. Which is exactly what Hillary said we should do.

So it is BHO who is moving toward the center… first by adopting Hillary’s policies and then to be on par with Bush-Mcsame.

Bottom line is, you have to pay attention to how media spins thing and where they place their emphasis.

Its the same thing as saying a glass is half filled or half empty. Same thing, but when media says something like hillary is down 50% or Obama has a 50% margin over McCain… well now… can you see how we are being played?

DNC Gives Themselves Gas Tax Credit…WTF

The committee hosting the Democratic National Convention is using the city’s gas pumps to fill up on fuel, avoiding state and federal highway taxes, officials said today.

“There’s something there that just doesn’t seem right to me because, in a sense, you’re saying then that the officials who pass the laws are not willing to live by them, and that concerns me,” Councilwoman Jeanne Faatz said.

The issue came up during the council’s weekly meeting with Mayor John Hickenlooper when the Public Works Department requested authorization to be reimbursed by the Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee for use of “fueling facilities, fuel and car washes.”

For years now I have watched how the American people are being duped by media propoganda or how politicians use brainwashing techniques. It is becoming more and more alarming and I hope folks wake up to what is being done to them.

We all have our comfort zones. Well all go to work or school and then when we come home we turn on our favorite tv or radio station, never thinking twice about what we are being spoon fed. And unless someone switches to another station they will never realise that they are being fed a bunch or crapola.

I am so glad that in my early school years I took an elective course on how media works. We each had to do a term project which consisted of reading at least 6 books and 12 magazines and then do a visual presentation. We worked in pairs; one for the idea and the other against it. Well, it turned out that my partner got cold feet and I ended up doing the entire presentation as if I were talking to myself.

It may have been difficult back then, but it sure as shoot’n has been paying off within the past few years, because I can see right through this media hype.

Thank you dear teacher.

He was just saying McCain had bad week, this BO trip is frustrating him (mccain). He was totally neutral. Not pro-Ob or anti-mccain.

William Bennet was on with him. He came up with great points about Bo under cutting McCain with things that are happening with this trip. Also said, its BO’s timing, that he was benefiting from Bush’s policies and McCain’s arguements, the very policies he opposed. Now Bo is getting the benefit. Carville seemed to agree.
He too, Carville, looked like he had lost his spunk too.

Dear Jeremy,

Please the read this article on stellar voices. We need to contact President Bush (whether you like him or not). He needs to stand up and take Obama to task. His behavior in Iraq is fraudulent. The numbers for the White House are available on the web site! And comment please! And please add us to your list of blogs! Thanks!

President Bush-First your Seal/Now your Negotiating Powers? by energy

The article below is a motivator to contact every Republican Congressman and President Bush to immediately have the Democratic presumptive nominee Senator Barack Hussein Obama(D-Ill) cease and desist his visit to Europe and the Middle East and be held accountable for engagement in foreign policy talks with world leaders.

Furthermore, action needs to be taken to charge Obama with behavior unfit for a sitting US Senator, impersonating the duties of the Commander-In-Chief regarding US foreign policy with foreign leaders and a possible threat to US National Security, through a congressional investigation.

Apparently, he has dual residency in florida and maryland… but is it legal says Fox.

#129 notfollowinthepiedpiper on 07.22.08 at 11:10 pm

This came, surprisingly enough from a relative who has always been a die-hard democrat (70 + years). Here’s his opinion of BO: Obama is full of “mouth” but never explains ANYTHING as to HOW he plans to accomplish anything and look at all these “mullets” that will literally swallow anything . Lord , help us !

Anyway, here’s an email story he sent to me. At the very least, it’s thought provoking!

Free Corn

A chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a new communist government In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ‘Do you know how to catch wild pigs?’

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. ‘You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence.

They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms – just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch!

A politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life, then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

If you see that all of this wonderful government ‘help’ is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to send this on to your friends.

In this ‘very important’ election year, listen closely to what the candidates are promising you!

Maybe you just might be able to tell who is about to slam the gate on America..

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have — Thomas Jefferson

#136 cosmeta on 07.22.08 at 11:16 pm

My husband sent this to me today. I have no idea where he got it from, or even if it is a real person doing the writing, but in either case it is a revealing story.

____________________________

Great story. It think this guy hit the nail on the head.

Dear Editor, Times-Dispatch:

‘Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day, and on July 4 I celebrate America ‘s. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

‘On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba, and a few months later, I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in RichmondVa. on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.

‘I’ve thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.

‘When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said, ‘Praise the Lord.’ And when the young leader said, ‘I will be for change and I’ll bring you change,’ everyone yelled, ‘Viva Fidel!’

‘But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner’s guns went silent, the people’s guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education, it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented, Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over, more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I’m back to the beginning of my story.

‘Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America ?

‘Would we?’

Manuel Alvarez, Jr.

TOPIC: Jon Stewart

Anybody see it??

Tonight’s Jon Stewart show had a long skit about Jewish voters in Florida who loved Hillary & insist they WON’T vote for Obama.

They TRIED to make it funny, but it was sad.
They TRIED to make it about race, but we know better.

Honestly, even if it were true some of these jewish voters were racist (which I doubt), either way it shows the Obama camp they have QUITE a problem on their hands with electability…

I think Hillary should be our next President if we have a collective brain in our heads…AND this language is difficult. I’m giving this until August 15th (my own personal deadline) to have a CLEAR message from Hillary.

We don’t deserve to be left twisting in the wind, but for now I reserve my faith.

I just got this from Electability Watch. If you want to do an extra action – THIS IS IT.

FROM Debra Bartoshevich, the Wisconsin Delegate being threatened to have her credentials removed because she said she wanted to vote for Hillary Clinton, but if Obama is the Democratic candidate, she might vote for McCain. “The Wisconsin Democratic Party is holding a conference call THIS FRIDAY, July 25, to make a decision about whether to allow me to retain my status as a Hillary Clinton delegate to the Democratic National Convention in August in Denver.
Ricki, I would appreciate if you can post. The delegation is meeting Friday. I found out in the press before anyone contacted me from the Wisconsin Democratic Party. Basically, I have 5 minutes to state my case and they only gave me a 4 day notice. When a member of the Wisconsin Democratic Party called me, I asked them how did the press find out about this before me and they said, “We don’t know. No one would have contacted the press.” This is the way the Wisconsin Democratic Party communicates. They go to the press before they contact the person who is actually involved.
ACTION
The Wisconsin DNC is telling Debra she will lose her delegate status. She wants to fight to keep it so she can vote for Hillary at the convention. She stands with Hillary, let’s stand with her! Please help Debra by immediately contacting the Democratic Party Chair and letting them know how you feel about punishing someone who supports Hillary Clinton: Joe Wineke, The Democratic Party of Wisconsin 222 W. You know, I think the media believes the average voter does not follow elections or will even vote!! The media forgets that what we don’t know, someone will tell us. We have too many resources these days.

These people are beginning to believe themselves!!

And as far as DNC getting a “gas tax cut” in Denver – well that’s just too much. While we’re at it, let’s let them know they should pay the same $$ as everyone else!! I guess we would need to let CO’s Reps know?

Also, the media still forgets that a large percentage of voters DO NOT vote in the primaries.

By any chance, do you have a Mac? Every once in a great while, I have trouble with getting a repeat of the same email every 5 minutes. It drives me bonkers. All I can do is ask my ISP to block the sender. But sometimes the ISP doesn’t want to do that, because it could prevent a legitimate sender from sending other emails.

FYI: Don’t make the mistake I did recently. I went into the Rules preferences and set it to redirect emails from one sender back to her. It stopped the problem. But a few days later, she called to tell me she was getting copies of every other email directed to me. That was super embarrassing.

Fellow PUMAS,
Well I did some prowls from Sunday and Monday, then todays all 3 only as far as my name group.
name: Help
last: Democracy
address: American voters deserve elected choices for president.
town: DNC do the right thing.
telepone: 911-911-9911
zip: 00000 or 09110 most programs check for leading zero. If you use your own zip you just won’t get a response.

I wrote:

I am an American, are you? If so, then tell me why the voices of the people that voted democratic did not count? When the DNC played those games that were totally unfair, did you think that voters in other states weren’t watching? You weren’t playing with the votes in a couple of states, you were playing with the sum of the total votes cast in every state..that means you tampered with my vote! How dare the Democratic party think that Americans don’t care about their votes and they can do as they please! If I take the time to go out and vote, then you must do what is right to ensure the integrity of my vote. You failed me! You failed every voter in America. We want legitimate choices in the voting booth to choose from. We want “elected” choices not “selected” choices.

I can’t vote for Senator Obama because he was not elected by the people. You discarded my vote and I will not support the democratic party until they do the right thing and NOMINATE SENATOR CLINTON AT THE CONVENTON FOR A FAIR AND DEMOCRATIC VOTE. WE EXPECT THE DELEGATES TO VOTE THE “WILL OF THE PEOPLE” ! We want an elected candidate.

We got that one in over a week ago… and I personally wrote her email complimenting her.

But to tell you the truth, … The party rules say that as a delegate you MUST enter the Convention in “good faith” which means, at least to me, that if a democrat say they are voting republican, well now… that is not exactly in good faith to the PARTY, now is it. So she has a tough fight ahead of her.

I have to close down for the night folks… my machine is overheating and both it and me need a rest.

Did any of you see this e-mail from Fox News Major Garret today. It was posted on gretawire.

More behind the scenes (this time on Senator Obama’s plane!) Check out the email we all received from our FNC colleague Major Garrett …Major is traveling in the Middle east with Senator Obama. It sounds like the Senator Obama campaign is having some problems with the American press traveling with him? Read this and post your comment

From: Garrett, Major
Sent: Tuesday, July 22, 2008 3:56 PM
To:
Subject: FOR URGENT: Another episode of “presidential” confusion on the
Obama overseas trip

Two senior Obama advisers came to the rear of the press plane to brief
reporters — on background, meaning no quote attributable to anyone –
about Obama’s one-on-one with King Abdullah and the subsequent dinner.
The press corps rebelled, demanding an on-the-record briefing since
Obama is in the middle of a presidential campaign and that campaign must
be held accountable for what it does and what Obama says about his
meeting with world leaders.
The senior Obama advisers refused. One, a former high-ranking official
in the Clinton White House, said the briefing had to be on background
because “in all my years with the White House I never read-out a meeting
on the record.”
Numerous reporters said Obama wasn’t the president and this isn’t a
Whiter House trip.
Considering the massive interest in the trip, reporters are demanding
basic levels of transparency.
The senior Obama staff refused to break the “on background” rules and no
briefing occurred.
So, as yet, no on-the-record details about Obama’s meeting with Abdullah
or the subsequent dinner with the King’s senior political, military and
intelligence advisers.
Obama’s camp pledged “to revisit” the system of briefing reporters.

END

Jon Stewart got the message but I witness it almost every day.

I posted the following yesterday and copied it here – in my own little poll, the people I come across, there’s a lot of disappointed people out there with what happened to Hillary and a lot of hurt feelings enough to vote against NObama.

I’m convinced that people are faithful and their eyes are open to all that’s happened.
They don’t come out and blog and act like we’re doing but they will act come election day.
Lots of people will vote for McCain.

I live in Coral Springs Florida, right next to Margate and Tamarac, mostly senior citizens, and I’m a realtor, and I come across them every day.
Well I’m shocked as to how many of these traditionally democrats will vote for McCain.
They actually like him.

They’re mad at what happened to their “girl”. If she’d lost fairly they’d be ok with it.
They watch the news every day, even the biased stations, they read between the lines, they know.

These are people that helped build this country.
They grew up during wwII, they are very smart people and should not be underestimated.
They preach to me instead me to them.

These people are not prejudiced either. They have supported in their cities democrats no matter what race or ethnic background.

For them to vote for a republican, only for president, of course, they are in shock themselves but they are determined.
These are people on fixed incomes, struggling with rising expenses just like all of us, but they can feel it, if NObama gets into office things may get much worse.

They will not risk it, for this reason, but mostly for the way he handled his campaign so far against “their girl”.

One man told me he’ll collect some money from the other condo owners for our effort but I told him it’s better for them to send it directly to pay down Hillary’s debt, I saw the address above, I’ll have it with me to give to them next time and every time the opportunity arises.

Also, another said that the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections were stolen from us by the republicans.
In 2000 they mocked us with the hanging chads.

Who would have thought that in 2008 we will willingly hand over our votes ourselves to them.

They’re happy to hear that with what we’re doing here they may not have to vote for McCain.

We have all their best wishes.

Other than that… I trust Murphy and am not getting anxious over schedules and plans while we’re there. I know it will get done to the best of everyone’s ability, and that;s all I need to know right now.

Let me try posting this again… Weird error. Anyway. As was trying to say, I think the media would be very correct in assuming that the average voter does not follow elections. Under normal circumstances that is. But this year has been anything but normal wouldn’t you agree? And even so though, I believe they would still be correct in thinking that. Look, as depressing as it may be to acknowledge, there are Hillary supporters who are going over to Obama. Why? Because they haven’t been paying attention and Hillary told them to, so they are. And don’t even get me STARTED on BHO’s supporters. I still have friends who say they don’t watch the news because it’s “too depressing” and I always respond with a finger wag and a “shame on you”. It never hurts to be informed after all. You’re right about that. We always have ways of informing ourselves but the sad fact is that alot of people choose not to do that.

I did.
I thought about printing the letters and giving them to mail, then I decided not to push it.
Quite a few do have computers themselves.
I’ve been giving them the two page flyer , the one in 3 parts with a picture of Hillary and the caption “Thank You, Hillary Clinton, We Will Take it From Here” that has the address of the DNC and the phone #.
They seem to be receptive to the address & phone # so far.
I told them it doesn’t have to be a long letter, just a note, 3 or 4 lines, they’ll get the message.

I’ve also been giving them Hillary’s address on cards and telling them to send whatever amount they can to help pay down her debt.

i agree that we should be informed but it takes all i have to watch the news. i can’t stand it! it doesn’t just depress me it really makes me mad. plus, most of waht we’re told are lies anyway so i too have gotten lax watching the news and i rely on my good friends here to fill me in when need be. :)

sheila7:

Well, I _thought_ I was going.

As of today, I have no plane reservations (I want to fly back & ride down w/people) because I don’t know where I’m flying back to! The reason I don’t know where I’m flying back to is because the people I was thinking I’d go down with were talking about meeting at a Train Station in California. Which means driving there & leaving my car there. That complicates things if you’re in Oregon.

I just want to all agree on the same Amtrak & same date & get on it at the various stops & find each other & go from there. And drink beer and talk politics and tell jokes & sightsee & have fun.

Sounds simple? NOT!

Sad part is, originally I was going to fly both ways & stay w/a friend. But she’s not quite moved yet & won’t be in town, so now I don’t even have a place to stay.

Thanks for being a shoulder to cry on, * sob *.

i like the idea of cities big and large across this country organize marches during the convention. for those of us who won’t be going to denver, we CANNOT and SHOULD NOT just sit at home and watch it all on TV…it will be nauseating…way too distressing…
so we ought to get OUT THERE and be visible. support hillary, support real democracy, support the constitution, support our fellow PUMAS on the front lines of democracy there in Denver.

Re: The Jon Stewart video about the older Jewish voters in FL.

I saw it and I thought it was in very poor taste. They were making fun of those FL senior citizens in a very ugly way to my mind. Ridiculing them….taking advantage of them. One older guy, I think his name was Art, said, “I don’t want to play this game.” He knew what was going on. He said to the other seniors, “They’re just making fun of us. Then they’re going to edit this whole thing and make us look like a bvunch of old fools” (or some such thing, but that’s the jist of it….)

It was ugly sterotyping, ridiculing elderly JEWISH voters, precisely because they were elderly and JEWISH. A little bizarre coming from Jon Stewart, who’s also Jewish. It’s one thing to make fun of someone who can fight back, but to take advantage of elderly people just to get a few laughs is a little pathetic to me. Wondering if Jon Stewart is suffering from a little ethnic self-hate. Next thing you know he’ll be calling himself the n-word and thinking it’s kool. Well, maybe not the n-word, I guess for him it’d have to be the k-word, or the h-word, or something…..

However you look at it, it stinks.

You know, and you’ll please forgive me for referencing video games, I’ve been playing Civilization Revolution for the past few days (Great game by the way for those who are interested in video games). Basically what you do is choose from one of 16 civilizations and you play as their leader (Example: Americans (Lincoln), etc) and you lead your civilization through the centuries to see if you can persevere. It has just reminded me of how important it is to have a strong leader that the citizens can depend on. Especially during turbulent times. I know I’ve beat this drum many times but this is the reason I just can’t justify voting for someone like Obama.

#261 sheila7

I kind of freak my friends out when I say this, and if I offend anyone by doing so I apologize wholeheartedly, but his, BHO’s, “rise to power” reminds me very fiercely of Hitler’s. You look at history and how quickly he rose, not because of political power, but because of charisma and words that sounded good. That’s all Obama is! Charisma and nice words. Is that the kind of person we want sitting in the Oval Office come next January? I think not! Why the American people can’t see this is just… beyond me. But then again, charisma is a very very powerful political tool.

#267 sheila7 on 07.23.08 at 1:54 am

inuhanyou,

Very good points. If we’re all that “racist and bigoted,” it isn’t likely we’re going to be cured by November. Combine that with all the people who just plain think Obama is a sorry excuse for a presidential nominee, I guess they’re in deep doo doo. No wonder Howie and Nancy look so troubled these days. They’re got to cure the world of racism and make them find “God,”….well, not God, exactly, Obama…..And they’ve only got 3 short months to do that. But, hey, they say the Lord created earth in 7 days….with their egos they probably think they can do it. And that the world is flat, of course.

I’ve actually been thinking about this and it’s a very difficult thing to approach. Other than YouTube and, of course, blogging and the internet, I can’t really come up with anything. Many people my age are, forgive me, kind of apathetic, they go where the wind blows them. The question is, how do we get the wind to blow them to us? :P Now Matt or Piepie (If he’s still with us?) might have some ideas. Though I will say, posters do tend to work. We might also try, and I know this sounds kind of corny, finding some of our more musical PUMAs and putting together a PUMA fight song or something of that nature. Any thoughts?

#294 lotts1948 on 07.23.08 at 2:24 am

#262 InuHanyou701 and #263-sheila7 –

I have been thinking the same things myself for quite a while now. When I saw his program for the young people, children, I thought about Hitler Youth. When I saw his speeches at his rallies, I thought about Hitler too. I agree with you both. He is one of those speakers who seem to be able to mesmerize people. Now, of course those are all scripted speeches, but still… and his ideas are scary too. The actions of his followers, which I believe he is behind or at the very least, totally condones, are also scary. Reminds me of brownshirts, etc.

I only hope and pray it can’t happen here in America.. but I have deep fears about what will happen to this country if Nobama buys the White House.

#296 lotts1948 on 07.23.08 at 2:26 am

It’s obvious that big money is behind him. Soros looks like a good possibility, but I still wonder about all those internet donations and exactly who and where they are coming from. It’s too bad that the reporters aren’t reporting anymore and it’s too bad that nobody is investigating all this stuff. That and the registrations of people … dead and false names and addresses, the caucus irregularities… it’s enough to make a thinking person furious.

#297 sheila7 on 07.23.08 at 2:29 am

lotts1948,
i assume by your name you’ve been around for a while too. it seems like it just keeps getting worse through the years. when bush came into office i thought oh my gosh, what is wrong with people? then the 2nd time, i was blown away. now, i am even more scared then with bush and that is pretty scared.
the way he has gotten the youth behind him worries me, when i’ve asked my nieces and nephews about what they see in him they don’t have an answer.

#298 Goalucard4Hill on 07.23.08 at 2:30 am

Well there had to be something that got everyone to make their eyes get glazed over – I don’t know if it was the way he spoke his words – if the youngins thought for sure he was going to change politics for the best for them – or something – much credit has been given to his staffs internet savy – which we do have some blogs out there – but I have not seen a lot of younger people flock to them – there has to be something – maybe a video game that could be played with Hillary and No Name in it – keep thinking – you guys are bright – you are here with us LOL

And with that words of wisdom – I too am heading out of here – long day.

I watched some of the coverage of Bambi doing his thing today and to tell you the truth, I didn’t think he had such a great day. I thought he looked stupid. He looked like a little kid “pretending” to be a big shot. All these press people tagging along after him in their manic state….it was all so stupid. He didn’t make one intelligent statement. Kept on repeating what everyone’s been saying for years: “The war in Iraq was a mistake.” Yeah. We all agree on that, even Republicans who supported Bush agree on that. We all agree that Afghanistan was the real issue and we should have kept the heat up high there for a lot longer full force instead of going to Iraq. But it’s too late to change that now. We’re in Iraq. We can’t just pop out of there now and jump back where we left off 5 years ago. There aren’t any “do-overs” in real life. It ain’t basketball. For all his talk about new ideas and change, he sure does harp on the past a lot. I have yet to hear one good, innovative, original, courageous idea from him about THE FUTURE. He’s all “theory” – no practice. His ideas may sound good in the abstract, but they’ve got no bearing on the realities in the world today. Obama lives in the clouds, in his imaginary dream world, where he’s the second coming of Christ.

Oh yes, Sheila, I’m old enough to remember Elvis Presley. :) I didn’t think he had a good day. I think he got by by the skin of his teeth and it took an awful lot of fanagling to make sure no reporter asked him any “real” questions….I heard he doesn’t give interviews to the foreign press, only the US lapdogs. The foreign press would never let him get away with his nonsense. Many of them come from countries where crooked, corrupt, meglomaniacal politicians have been oppressing the people for generations. They know how to cut through the crap and they don’t mince words. He would never survive a serious interview with a real journalist. And he knows it. And so do the 300 plus “tutors” he’s had for his “world tour.”

He’s a national disgrace.

WALKING EAGLE

BARACK OBAMA was invited to address a major gathering of the American Indian Nation two weeks ago in upstate New York

HE spoke for almost an hour on HIS future plans for increasing every Native American’s present standard of living, should HE one day become the President. HE referred to his career as a Senator, how he had signed ‘YES’ for every Indian issue that came to his desk for approval. Although the Senator was vague on the details of his plan, he seemed most enthusiastic about his future ideas for helping his ‘red sisters and brothers’.

At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribes presented the Senator with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name – Walking Eagle. The proud Senator then departed in his motorcade, waving to the crowds.

A news reporter later inquired to the group of chiefs of how they came to select the new name given to the Senator. They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.

Hi y’all,

It was my post Goalucard was refering to (the one about attracting young people). I know everyone’s going to bed, but I wasn’t able to get back online until now (and I have to work on something too). Here’s the link to my post (actually a re-post) which also contains a link to one of the replies to it:

Goalucard was one of the responders, writing something similar to what he wrote tonight, and calling on Matt & other young PUMAs for ideas. I haven’t had time to read everything posted tonight, but I will cull the thoughts, suggestions and ideas from tonight and from earlier today and post a summary of the ideas later on this week. Maybe tomorrow night we can get some imput from Matt.

Regarding engaging the young folks:

Probably a little bit out there, but I have read about video games that are easy to adapt and program.

I was thinking that a video game about BO vs. Hillary might appeal to some of the younger folks. We need something visually exciting and laser focused to engage the young people who have short attention spans and expect glitz and glitter (i.e., cutting edge technology).

There must be some way to formulate a ‘game’ that teaches the young generation about the facts of this election and the Dem candidates. Could be something as simple as a ‘maze’ through which they travel picking up information nuggets along the way.

Just a thought. Any whiz kids out there who can program games?

#323 chrissieD on 07.23.08 at 5:18 am

hey guys this is a copy of the comment i made to the swing state post. i just wanted to say that senator clinton is handling this business abt the convention and nomination the best way possible. During the primaries senator clinton was damned if she did and damned if she didn’t by the biased sexist US media. really i don’t know why some of them (the media) are so against the taliban and forcing women to wear a burka since they forced clinton to wear a figurative burka the whole way through the primaries and now they forcing her to take a “woman must be seen and not heard” approach and silencing her effectively since everytime she questioned obama they regarded this as insubordination(as if they were outraged that a women dare speak her mind) and silenced her. really outraged abt this. this election has put women’s liberation back by about 600 years. really watched this election with interest back here in south africa. rooting for hillary. also again abt the documentary i wondered if anyone read my suggestion this director in south africa shot a whole length feature film 60 minutes i think just using cellphones that had camera and recording capabilities. apparently it gave the film a more personal edge since characters filled the entire screen as well as certain scenes and the speed was also improved.
so people could send in clips from their cellphones and combine it in one huge mini documentary to kind of get the effect that these are people on the ground speaking out against injustice. And in response to pumaindy i think thats a good idea (since im 22 and i love games) microsoft offers a free games development kit on their website available to download and it removes the complexity of games development and makes everything simpler as well as a free facebook application kit free to download from microsoft. sum1 could do the maze thing as a type of facebook application. also secondlife.com is a virtual relaity website kind of like the sims except online and other people can interact with you through their virtual characters maybe someone should create a virtual hillary headquarters and then everybody can visit there

#324 chrissieD on 07.23.08 at 5:24 am

and i don’t think ne1 should underestimate the value of posting comments at media outlets online . originally i was for bo since the media here (in sa) only published the positives. the only way i found out abt more was through reading the posts on aol and then doing research independently. and then found out that hillary was the better candidate

#326 bythelake on 07.23.08 at 5:39 am

Good morning Pumas,

Am working on yesterday’s prowl, was out of town yesterday. Wanted to share my letter to Governor Strickland of Ohio, my Governor. Added my touch below.

Dear Swing State Super Delegate, Governor Strickland,

It is not too late to save this election for the Democrats. Polls show that Senator Clinton is far more likely than Senator Obama to win your state in November against John McCain. As you know, winning OUR state is CRUCIAL for the Democrats to regain the White House.

The voters in OUR state, YOUR constituents, favored Senator Clinton over Senator Obama in the primary election, mostly by DECISIVELY wide margins. You are insisting on IGNORING your OWN voters!

Polls show a tie between Senators Obama and McCain, but a clear advantage to Senator Clinton. All it will take is for ONE swing state like OURS to tip to John McCain for us to LOSE the entire election. Then it will be YOUR fault that the Democrats lose AGAIN.

Are we prepared to lose the Democrats ANOTHER election? Or will you stand up to the party bosses and carry the Voice of the Voters to the Convention and VOTE for the candidate who can win it for us in OUR crucial state in November?

I am an Ohio Democrat and a member of Puma PAC, People United Means Action (http://blog.pumapac.org). We are the Voice of the Voters in the Democratic Party and we will do everything we can to stop the party bosses from forcing YOU to select an unprepared and preposterously weak candidate in Denver.

I’ve met you in Ashtabula in the tiny Ashtabula Township hall, I supported you at Kent State, I watched you with former President Clinton and I watched you support Hillary.

Please, please, stand up for her in Denver. We need her. You know it. I know it. You know I know it.

Please be the honorable man I know you can be.

Our country and OUR state counts on it.

I’ve always been a democrat. I’ve believed in the party, until now. I will be one among millions of who will not support the DNC decision of “selecting” Barack Obama for our next leader.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Puma PAC Member.

Dear Senator Clinton,

I and the 18m who supported you want our delegates to have the opportunity to vote for you as “nominee” at the convention. Our votes and pledged delegates are not negotiable. We need an open and fair convention. Please allow your name to be put in nomination. You are the one and we are ready to stand behind you ALL THE WAY TO THE White House. We do not want to wait until 2012. You are the one and your time is NOW! We still support you and have done everything in our power to help pay off your debt. Sen. #364 sheila7 from downstairs. Getting back to writing super delegates.

I agree that a single e-mail from and signed as pumapac members is the best way to send e-mails to Hillary’s super delegates, more of a thank you for supporting Hillary. I really don’t agree with mass e-mailings to Hillary’s super delegates, it’s a good way to peeve them off and there is far more important fish to fry.

To me, the focus should be mass e-mail prowls to: Super delegates that have switch from Hillary to Obama, the rest of Obama’s super delegates, and the undecided. If we want to go further then take on Obama’s “pledged” delegates.

#346 hoosiermike on 07.23.08 at 7:55 am

Okay, I just caught wind of the Wisconsin Dem. Party story. I sent them the following letter:
I am outraged that the Wisconsin Democratic Party is trying to take away Debra Bartoshevich’s delegate status because she wishes to vote for Hillary Clinton at the Democratic Convention. Why does the Democratic Party even give someone a delegate vote if they cannot chose how to use it.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY MRS. BARTOSHEVICH’S RIGHT TO VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON!!!

This is one more example of how the Democratic Party is trying to manipulate this election, and I am sick of it!!! If you strip Mrs. Bartoshevich of her delegate status, not allowing her to vote for the candidate she wants to vote for, that will be the absolute last straw for me and tens of thousands of other voters. I will leave the Democratic Party, never to return again until it has been completely reformed and new, fair leaders in place.

Good Morning PUMAS.

I received the following email this morning and wanted to share with you. I think it’s a good idea for us to respond to Hillary. Inspired by someone on this blog site, I responded yesterday.

PUMAs,

All roads are beginning to lead back to Hillary.

It is looking more and more like it is -she- who will ultimately have the power to allow her name to be placed into nomination.

Hillary is now reaching out to us, asking us what issues matter the most to each of us:

http://www.hillpac.com/action/issues/?sc=2498&utm_source=2498&utm_medium=e

This is how -I- chose to respond:

“What is the issue that matters to -me- the most? That you, Hillary, be the 44th President of the United States… from 2009-2017. Please, Senator Clinton, allow your name to be placed into nomination… for the 18,000,000 of us who gave you our vote and our voice.

Thank you, Respectfully, Will Bower

It is now time that *every* PUMA voice be heard by Hillary. We must *all* reach out to her… with our heads, our hearts, and our experiences. She needs to know that we are here… and *why* we are here.

There will be many more Calls to Action in the days to come: Delegate Outreach. PUMA Gatherings Nationwide. The Pre-Convention PUMA Conference. All of these are -very- important… but all of these are secondary to letting Hillary know that we still want — and need — her to be our next President.

http://www.hillpac.com/action/issues/?sc=2498&utm_source=2498&utm_medium=e

Thank you, PUMAs. We can do this. Hillary can do this.

Let her know.

Here is my response to Hillary’s request:

The issue that matters to me the most is that you allow your name to be placed in nomination at the convention in August. I know that you asked us to support Obama but I cannot do that. The whole primary process, the media coverage, and the DNC’s actions have made it impossible to support the selected nominee. If we don’t stand up and fight the corruption now, if we remain silent, we will be allowing them to continue to disenfranchise millions in every future election.
Hillary, you told us “Always aim high, work hard, and care deeply about what you believe in. When you stumble, keep faith. When you’re knocked down, get right back up. And never listen to anyone who says you can’t or shouldn’t go on”. We heard you.

Here is my Comment Response to Senator Clinton’s email:

Most important issue to me:

That you, Hillary Clinton, place your name in nomination at the 2008 Democratic Convention to become the 44th President of the United States.

I will not be disenfranchised by casting my vote for a candidate that I do not believe in, do not trust, and fear his inexperience in leadership, ineffectiveness in past job performance, and lack of clarity – and knowledge – on the issues our country is now facing.

I, along with fellow supporters of yours, were grossly abused, accused of racism (among other things) and unjustly censored by paid Obama internet bloggers throughout the primary for voicing our support of OUR CANDIDATE. This is not the kind of “Change and Hope for a new kind of leadership” that I (we) can or will support, Senator Clinton.

I will not cast my vote for a candidate (and now a political party) that I have no respect for.

I will not vote for Barack Obama as “President”, under any circumstance.

Unless you are the 2008 Presidential Candidate, the Democratic Party has lost my respect, support and vote.

With all due respect,

my name

Just wanted to clarify my previous post:

I was inspired by someone on our very own PUMAPAC blog to respond to the Hillpac letter. I shared Will Bower’s email simply to make it known that every organization is responding.

PUMAPAC is an outstanding group. We have done so much in so little time.

Thanks about Dolly…I live closer to S.A., so the threat of spawned tornadoes is usually greater. That was thoughtful of you.

Well, the DNC knows everyone is gearing up for the convention, but you need to check to see what they are up to. They no longer want to “bail out” the home-owners, but are trying to get a bill through that will help the mortgage lenders.

Also, they are refuting the drilling in AK saying it will cost $20-$30 Billion. Here’s what I see…

We will eventually “gain” in the U.S. with the drilling.

The mortgage lenders will gain from the taxpayers.

Also, the HIV AIDS bill that passed is for $48 Billion, and you do not have to be a citizen of the U.S. to receive treatment or services.

I forget how much the Mortgage Bill will be.

Everyone needs to keep track of what the taxpayer is going to be hit with. They know that OB’s trip and the Convention is uppermost in everyone’s minds.

If you find out I’m wrong about the above issues, please let me know.

Here’s hoping everyone has a great day!

There is a link on the WABC web site that you can send comments to their different shows. The guy who interviewed Murphy is one of them, along with Imus and Hannity.

http://www.wabcradio.com/contactus.asp

I don’t know if anybody listened to Imus yesterday but he made a comment about Hillary being the best out of the three. He was interviewing George Stefenopolous. he also interview Carville too. Both are on this link. His comment is at the 3 minute mark.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows Barack Obama attracting 45% of the vote while John McCain earns 42%. When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 47% and McCain 45% (see recent daily results). McCain is viewed favorably by 56% of voters, Obama by 54%. Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day. These results come as—for the first time since 2004—a majority of voters believe the U.S. and its allies are winning the War on Terror.

While Obama has been on an overseas tour, 45% of voters say the Democratic hopeful is too inexperienced to be President. That’s up four percentage points from a week ago. An equal number—45%–disagree with that assessment and say Obama has the necessary experience.

******
The percentages are within the margin of error, so it’s still basically tied.

Regarding Fake Obama Interviews: Andrea Mitchell is another of the hypocritical media people who during the Primary Campaign participated in the sexist attacks of Hillary as well as the bias for Obama. Now that she is not “in” on Obama’s moves, she crys “foul”. There will be more media played by the proposed Emperor before this is all over. EVERYONE SHOULD SEE OBAMA LOVE, THE VIDEO PUT OUT BY THE JOHN MCCAIN CAMPAIGN.
FINALLY A SATIRICAL MOVE AGAINST THE MEDIA LOVE AFFAIR WITH OBAMA. The video is very funny! It’s about time they start doing something. We are all working our you know whats off to make sure the new Ceasar is not crowned and then adored in the Western Roman Coliseum, Province of Denverentsia.

CarribbeanPuma I think you are right. Debra should have done a “Tina Fey”…tell everyone you’re voting for BO, then secretly vote for McCain.

CAUTION PUMAS I do not trust the Hillary debt figures which have been rumored. I was at the home of a major Hillraiser last week. She is plugged into the campaign and said they were perplexed at the numbers being tossed about. They said there was still a long way to go.

My information is not first-hand. I know we have done a great job. But until we receive verifiable figures, we should continue to donate.

#380 Margenau on 07.23.08 at 9:51 am

Thanks to those who posted the HillPAC comments link. I just pleaded with Hillary to let her name be PLACED IN NOMINATION–her supporters will do the rest.

I love how our girl is getting active with the HillPAC agenda while BO is off on his “world tour.”

Perhaps the DNC is tossing out fake numbers because they want to redirect the money going to Hillary into the DNC. I would not put anything past that lot.

#382 fedup144 on 07.23.08 at 9:54 am

I was looking at the electoral map on I think it was either real clear politics or USA polls. Anyway, its interesting they have Obama so far ahead in electoral votes. If you break it down by state, this race is MUCH MUCH closer than the preceived numbers they post in up front. 1st, Obama WAS leading McCain in ohio by 4%. Yesterday, it showed McCain was ahead by 1%. And if you look at some of the red and swing states they have Obama winning, Hes only ahead anywhere from 1% to 5% at the most with a larger number of undecideds. The polls and the MSM continue to post these deceiving numbers. Obama should be all accounts be much further ahead in swing states than he is at this time. It doesn’t take much at all to swing these states McCains way. And its a LONG time till November. Plenty of time and bullets left for Barney Fife, I mean Obama, to continue to shoot his own self in the foot. I think even Missouri has Obama ahead by 1%. The best lead he has is in Pennsylvania and I think it was like 4 or 5%.

#383 caribbeanpuma on 07.23.08 at 9:57 am

We must get the numbers straight. If by July 4th,her debt was down by 10 millions, and people continued to donate,it should have been cleared by now.
How were the donations tracked by the 4th of July?
Can Will gave us more information?

The most important numbers from Rasmussen are the favorable numbers. Last week McCain overtook Obama in both Favorability and Unfavorable ratings for the first time since February. Obama’s favorable ratings have fallen by 14 points, while McCains have increased by 12 points off his low. Huge shift.

#386 NoObo on 07.23.08 at 10:08 am

Here is my letter to Hillary:

The most personal issue is sexism in the media…especially with your campaign. I think women need more respect than they get…in all areas of life. I feel like we are back in the 70′s!
I admire you and the great campaign that you waged this year. I wish you would reconsider and put you name into nomination at the convention. I do not want to vote for Obama. He does not have the values that I want my POTUS to have. I don’t like his minister of 20 yrs or his unscrupulous buddies. The list goes on and on. I think the DNC short changed Americans and railroaded us into having Obama the nominee. With all due respect, I am not going to fall in line and vote for him.
The other issue is GAS! We need to take action on this now. Congress seems to agree to disagree on this very issue and it is wasting more of our time and money waiting for someone to make a stand. I say drill! I say do wind, solar, nukes…do it all! I do not support using corn for gas…there are starving people here and abroad that need to eat. Let’s get out from under the middle east oil dependency.

Doria has been informing us for awhile that the donations need to continue, of course if affordable.

The money DOES NOT go to the dnc, let’s not continue with that falsehood.

The money goes to retire Senator Clinton’s debt.

I’m not sure where the 7/23 blog is… so I am reposting this for Maryland Puma:

This is for Maryland Puma… if you are on the thread today.

I had another thought for the list you are compiling.

I was/have been disturbed by the differing approach and attitudes of the DNC, high ranking democrats and the media towards the Obama supporters and the HRC supporters.

Even now, the HRC supporters are expected/pressured to fall in line and vote democratic party. Otherwise we are told we are not true democrats, questioned on why we won’t support Obama, given the similarity of platforms etc etc.

However… if that is the opinion and position… why was that reasoning NOT appled to the Obama supporters when they said, ‘never Hillary’, or when AAs threatened to black out the vote, and the newly registered threatened to stay home, if Obama were NOT the nominee?

Shouldn’t their party loyalty and committment to the democratic platform have been likewise questioned? Shouldn’t they have been pressured into voting for the party nominee? Shouldn’t the DNC and the media have questioned WHY they would stay home (in such an important election) JUST because their candidate were not the nominee?

Instead, these “threats” were given/used as a reason why the superdelegates should vote for Obama. Otherwise the voters who voted for him would feel disenfranchised and stay home. The same thinking is not being applied to the voters for HRC.

Second, related to this, is the comment made by Michelle in an interview.

Michelle Obama, scrunched up her nose and said she would have to “think” about voting for HRC… were Hill the nominee. Again same thing. The DNC, Pelosi, Brazile and the media were silent on this. No one questioned Michelle’s lack of loyalty to the democratic party, and no one asked her ‘how not’ in such an important election.

Imagine if Bill Clinton had said that… or if any other democratic party leader loyal to HRC had said that.

And finally… also tied in… was the misrepresentation of the role of the superdelegates.

I never understood the role of superdelegates to be simply to bolster the delegate count of the candidate with a slight lead in pledged delegates. If that WERE the case why have them at all? Simply remove the requirement of having to meet the minimum pledged delegate count.

But again, the Obama campaign, the DNC, Brazile and Pelosi all presented that as the way the superdelegates should vote. Using the feeling of disenfranchisement of the AAs and the newly registered democrats, as a justification. The media then pounced on that and spun it. Again… never questioning WHY those voters would opt to stay home and/or abandon the emocratic party and a nominee of that party if it were to be HRC.

They are certainly questioning the HRC supporters now for taking that position.

For ME… it is not so much that HRC lost… but HOW she lost that fueled my personal protest and defection from the party after 35 years. It was the unfairness and the bias and the disrespect of one candidate.

Otherwise, I would now be backing the nominee of the party just like always. I am not as thrilled about McCain as many on the PUMA PAC threads and I am having a heck of a (hard) time considering voting for him. If Hill had lost fairly and Obama had won fairly, I’d be happy voting democratic. It is the PROCESS that I am protesting. think I posted this on an old blog…so reposting…

Good morning Pumas – Re: Mass Emails to Hillary Superdelegates-

#342 Bill_K and #364 Sheila 7 – I have received back at least a dozen responses back in the HRC website days saying that they would be there for Hillary – all of course were her supporters – although I have seen that two of them now maybe have changed their minds – point is that I totally agree with Bill and Sheila – maybe we should have a standard letter designed – and all of us Pumas sign it and off it goes as one email with many voices – they will see the numbers there – as for no name and undecideds go for them – not only will they see the numbers but they will GET the effect that we project – shall we agree to agree on this – Maryland Puma, Mama, Murphy???

Gooooooooooooooooood morning, P-Town!

I can see why you folks are so proud of your prowling — I did my first set yesterday and couldn’t wait to come back to the blog and report on the feeling of empowerment that it stirred in me…

…only to find that the blog was inaccessible.

I am glad that my first thought (some form of dastardly Obamatage) was not the cause of the outage.

Made me realize and appreciate what this site truly represents and how much our collective aspirations for improved representation are tied up in the PUMA movement.

On a positive note, I had dinner with two very bright college students a few weeks back and the talk turned to politics — I braced myself for what I thought would be impassioned support for Mr. HopeNChange, only to be pleasantly surprised to hear him described as “Smug, arrogant and phony.”

Further, I was told that Lord Obama’s method of clipping off that last syllable as he pontificates is beginning to be mocked by many college-age people and was treated to an excellent and comedic riff along that line.

Now, that gave me a wee bit of HOPE!

#404 fedup144 on 07.23.08 at 6:15 pm

Ramussen is also reporting today that McCain is ahead in ohio by 10 points! He was behind by 4 points like a week ago. Obamas charm is wearing off finally. I hope he keeps having these big speeches with big crowds. It will be part of his downfall. Also, I think his little field trip will be as well. Going to the middle east will remind those who are blinded by the economy now(with good reason) that this is a major issue going on. AND, its Obamas biggest weakness. SO hes dragging out his own weaknesses into the forefront. Nice stradegy Obama keep it up.
