” If Barack Obama is really the people’s choice, he has nothing to fear from the delegates putting Hillary’s name in nomination for president at the convention in Denver. Either he has all of his ducks in a row or he doesn’t. Time to stop acting like a prince and start acting like a leader.” Riverdaughter 7/21/08

PDOP To Submit 100,000th Just Say No Deal Email Today!
100,000 Emails in less than a week isn’t that bad, right?
Well, we’re not quite there yet, but we are getting close. As of 2:30 CST today, our readers have submitted over 96,000 emails to Superdelegates via the email submission initiative at our site. Read the full article, just posted:

There are shuttles and busses from the airport to the convention, also there are hotel shuttles if you are staying in the bigger hotels. I will be in Denver on the 22nd, we need to get each others numbers and email so we can get together! Do you both have places to stay?
I agree, we need to have cell phone numbers and emails so people can meet up and not get lost.
I don’t have a place to stay and little $ for a decent dwelling, so I have no idea what I will do when I get there.

“but he is a citizen because he was born in the U.S. (Hawaii was a state when he was born there.) See the explanation at Snopes. His mother & father’s citizenship status doesn’t matter.”
~~~~~~~
Every time I post this response — I find out everyone has left to take it upstairs — so I’ll try this again and post it here as well to make sure others see it.
I’ve seen the above logic being posted many places on the net (especially on the KOS article regarding the BC — that I won’t even comment on how many errors of logic that article displays). But I would like to dispell this logic when I see it posted here.
There’s something everyone needs to understand about SNOPES. While it often does do a really good job in most cases to dispell hoax information that gets passed around on the net… everone needs to keep in mind that SNOPES is mostly run by a husband and wife team doing research on their own. They are human, not perfect, as often evident in their abundant spelling and grammatical errors on the site. It is highly possible that they are also not completely informed on the proper research on the birth certificate information. They don’t always have the time or inclination to do deep deep analysis and investigative work. Nor do they always have access to the expert analysis that has been done on texasdarlin’s site. So please — just don’t fall under the misconception that they (SNOPES) are the DE FACTO LAST WORD on any subject.
That ( #5) was another drive by. Gotta go.
This is the question I’ve been asking for a long time now. If Obama, Dean, and Pelosi are so confident that he will win the nomination, why not put Hillary’s name on the nomination ballot? It sound as if they are scared that maybe his star is losing it’s brightness. Maybe some are rethinking their support in light of all of the controversy surrounding Obama lately. I suggest they put Hillary’s name on the ballot and let the chips fall where they may.
#5 snowtiger on 07.21.08 at 4:27 pm
well, gee, wonder if that has the media scratching their heads “who in there right mind would think we are trying to get Obama elected???”
Great link, I check Rasmussen and gallup every couple days. There is more to those polls than most people realize. Last week, McCain for the first time since March gained the upperhand on BO in the favorability ratings. He was behind as much a 11 points with Rasmussen and Gallop. Also, BO’s unfavorable ratings are now consistently higher than McCain. This is really not a good sign for a candidate who should easily have a 15 point lead over any Republican. You would think this would be a wake up call to the Supers.
Unless the DNC rules have changed the pledged delegates must vote for their designated candidate, in the initial roll call. After the first vote, however, anything goes.
As we Hillary people know — the superdelegates may vote anyway that they wish in the initial roll call.
http://www.demconvention.com/delegate-voting/
ok here’s another site that says the same thing.. ok now I’m gettin a creapy feeling…… small little hints making my poor adhd brain misfire
Pledged delegates are not bound to vote for the candidate they are pledged to at the Convention or on the first ballot. A pledged delegate goes to the Convention with a signed pledge of support for a particular presidential candidate. At the Convention, while it is assumed that delegates will cast their votes for the candidate they are publicly pledged to, it is not required. Under the Delegate Selection Rules, a delegate is asked to “in good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.” This provision is designed in part to make the Convention a deliberative body.
Your understanding is what mine always was, but the article at demconvention.com says this:
Chapter Two
‘Delegate VotingDelegates are asked to “in good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.”All delegates – both pledged and unpledged – formally cast their votes at the Convention.
The votes of unpledged delegates cast at the Convention do count towards a candidate securing the nomination. In past nominating cycles, individual unpledged delegates have endorsed a specific presidential candidate. Regardless of such endorsement, unpledged delegates are able to cast their vote for any presidential candidate at the Convention.
Pledged delegates are not bound to vote for the candidate they are pledged to at the Convention or on the first ballot.’
What is an unpledged delegate, a super delegate?
Who are the people they poll? I have never been called, not once in my long life, what’s up with that? Am I too vocal where they already know how I stand.
No, a superdelegate is only a superdelegate. Unpledged delegate has not voted before the convention. Delegates just gave precious enough votes to ‘rule out’ Hillary.
Then some only were able to give a half of a vote thanks to Dean and his gang of thugs.
Bottom line, the convention is a cr@p shoot.
yes, an unpledged delegate is a super delegate.
If pledged delegates don’t have to vote for the candidate they’re pledged to on the 1st ballot, BOs delegates could vote for HRC. All he** would break loose.
You reminded me of a quote by Pastor Martin Niemoller that I’ll never ever forget. It helps remind us of our duty to each other while also helping us to realize that none of us individually is nearly as powerful as all of us fighting together. Here it is:
“In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist;
And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist;
And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;
And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up.”
I AM a trade unionist and I have all of your backs.
Are they afraid of putting her name on the ballot because they may be losing ground or that they can’t control the outcome now? If they strong armed some delegates into supporting BHO, maybe the delegates are fearing they may lose the next election for their office. Or maybe his flip-flopping has caused them to change their minds.
Just contributed $50 to PUMA PAC, hope it helps.
hmmm… I was reading the Daily Prowl for this afternoon and I noticed that the template suggests that we’ll vote for BO as long as Hillary’s name is put in the nomination at the convention.
Just want to be clear that I will not be voting for BO even if Hillary is VP. If the nomination was to be turned, it will look like BO was robbed in the eyes of his supporters. I feel like, if that is the case, HC will have quite the tough time moving forward wrt mandate and momentum.
I’m all about a fair convention now and NoBama in the fall.
Just wanted to clear up the prowl.
I think Hillary will have an easier time winning BO’s supporters than the other way around. I think it’s a myth that BO wanted everyone to believe that she couldn’t win his supporters. But let’s not forget that many of his own supporters have abandoned him… both on his site and financially. Many are supporting only because Hillary is not an option for them. And many Republicans wanted to vote for Hillary too… but are turning to McCain in her absence. So I think she’ll have no problem getting up to speed and winning this one if they would just be smart enough to do the right thing and nominate her. She’s a smart lady and has EARNED the respect of many as they watched the primaries unfold… (not to be confused with the “Faux respect” that was bamboozled or bought)
Re her point – is our letter today designed to use the carrot and the stick?
Just got an email from the WA State Democratic Party chair asking for money. Sent him this reply:
Dear Mr. Pelz,
My understanding is that the Democratic National Convention is taking place in Denver in August, 2008. And, neither Barack Obama nor Hillary Clinton have enough pledged delegates to secure the nomination. In addition, and most importantly, our democracy is based upon fairness and justice. If you must write to me in the future, please refrain from refering to Mr. Obama as the Democratic nominee. I expect to have a nominee who is elected, not selected.
Daily Prowl sent email and fax. I also will never vote for #61.
In response to your earlier post:
Being born in America does indeed make you a citizen, but there has been no valid proof shown yet that he was actually born in America. If he was not, it appears the the prevailing rules from December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986 would not qualify him.
What’s up PUMAs? Looks like it was a wild ride over the weekend. Thought I would give you some recent news with Sean Hannity’s coverage of Barack’s trip. Sean is on a mission—and I mean on a mission—with this. He read the Rassmussen Poll regarding the biased media coverage and he has offered a debate with Barack now at any place and any time. Sean said that he would go to France if Barack would take him up on an interview/debate. He calls Katie C., Brain W., and Charlie G., Baracks 3 “High Valued” Press Secretaries and has 300 foreign advisers that are keeping him briefed during this whole thing. GUESS WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS? Not the Barack Campaign—Not the DNC—Not the MSM—still wanna know??? The Taxpayers—meaning—YOU!! Also, the only reason this trip was REALLY planned was to up the positive numbers regarding Barack’s negative internals regarding “Best at Being an effective CIC.” The campaign is saying it is to CLARIFY his position on Iraq. Don’t believe it. Also, Hannity said that reporters from the MSM said that Molokai (sp) who is the PM of Iraq ENDORSED Barack’s Iraq Policies—That is NOT true! If you heard it, it is false. Also, there is more—Barack WANTS MORE TROOPS in Afghanistan.
Regarding the vote of those under 30—an important base for Barack. Those numbers are dropping now. If you have the chance to watch his show tonight—I am sure a lot of these points will be mentioned again.
I’ve never been called either, but, in my own little poll, the people I come across, there’s a lot of disappointed people out there with what happened to Hillary and a lot of hurt feelings enough to vote against NObama.
I’m convinced that people are faithful and their eyes are open to all that’s happened.
They don’t come out and blog and act like we’re doing but they will act come election day.
Lots of people will vote for McCain.
I live in Coral Springs Florida, right next to Margate and Tamarac, mostly senior citizens, and I’m a realtor, and I come across them every day.
Well I’m shocked as to how many of these traditionally democrats will vote for McCain.
They actually like him.
They’re mad at what happened to their “girl”. If she’d lost fairly they’d be ok with it.
They watch the news every day, even the biased stations, they read between the lines, they know.
These are people that helped build this country.
They grew up during wwII, they are very smart people and should not be underestimated.
They preach to me instead me to them.
These people are not prejudiced either. They have supported in their cities democrats no matter what race or ethnic background.
For them to vote for a republican, only for president, of course, they are in shock themselves but they are determined.
These are people on fixed incomes, struggling with rising expenses just like all of us, but they can feel it, if NObama gets into office things may get much worse.
They will not risk it, for this reason, but mostly for the way he handled his campaign so far against “their girl”.
One man told me he’ll collect some money from the other condo owners for our effort but I told him it’s better for them to send it directly to pay down Hillary’s debt, I saw the address above, I’ll have it with me to give to them next time and every time the opportunity arises.
These are truly amazing times we’re going through.
#47 goDGS on 07.21.08 at 5:08 pm
I’m happy about your optimism.
I would wonder about her fundraising aparatus, BO-supporting Congressional downticket dems, the young BO supporters who I feel many would go (G)Mckinney or (I)Nader, etc etc.
If BO, Pelosi, Dean et al. didn’t move the HQ to Chicago and replaced many of the DNC state-level folks, I’d be quite a bit more optimistic. Also, the leadership have shown there disdain for Clinton, so I wouldn’t put it past them to sabotage in the name of the messiah.
With that said. I will do everything to get Hillary’s name in the nomination at the convention. I will work to remove certain leaders (pelosi, reid and kerry come to mind) and, pending outcome of convention, I will absolutely vote Against BO and the DNC.
To change topics, I hope that NTY debacle hurts BO and people realize how much in the tank the liberal media are in wrt BO.
Completed prowl and I will not vote for BO I don’t care if Elvis comes back from the dead and is on the ticket with BO!!!!
Received an email response today from one of my senators regarding a letter I sent to her about the problems with the election this year. She talked about the 2000 election year; nothing about this year. One paragraph was interesting though:
“As you may be aware, on October 29, 2002, the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) was signed into law. HAVA requires states to upgrade voting equipment, create statewide voter registration databases, ensure provisional ballots are available, and expand access for voters with disabilities. According to media reports, some problems remain across the country even after HAVA entered into effect.”
I thought, “…some problems remain…” You think?!
Hillary Buys HRC2012.Com Name
Sunday, July 20, 2008 7:01 PM
It could be just a coincidence, but a firm associated with top leaders of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 2008 presidential advance team bought the Web site domain name HRC2012.Com on June 8, according to Marc Ambinder of TheAtlantic.com.
Now, just a little more than a month later, Clinton is imploring her 2008 general election campaign supporters to approve transfer of their unused donations for this year’s presidential race over to her 2012 Senate campaign. Or perhaps into a new presidential campaign fund, just as she did with $10 million of her surplus 2006 Senate campaign funds. If they nix her request she has to give the money back no later than next month.
Those funds cannot be used for purposes other than to fund Clinton’s idle 2008 general election campaign unless the donors agree to allow her to transfer the funds to her 2012 senate re-election effort. And according to The Los Angeles Times, the funds just might also be used to help finance another run for the presidency in 2012 should Sen. Barack Obama lose in November.
The Times suggested that perhaps the domain name purchase by a company that’s worked closely with Clinton — The Markham Group — “is just what it seems: yet another step by Hillary Rodham Clinton to prepare for another run for the Senate from New York in four years. Or another run for the White House.”
Notes the Times: “We won’t know of course for some time.”
Even more of a coincidence is the fact that June 8, when the domain name was acquired, was the day after Clinton’s “I-give-up-and-heartily-support-Obama” speech. Clinton sources told Ambinder the New York senator was committed to helping elect Obama on Nov. 4 but she wanted to keep her options open for later.
In 2012, Clinton would have the option of choosing which race — Senate re-election or presidential — to enter.
According to the Times, in her first Senate re-election bid two years ago her main Web sites were HillaryClinton.com, which she still has, HillPac.com for her political action committee, and another one for her 2008 campaign debt donations.
The Times wondered why she’d need another Web site for 2012 “unless … her disappointed presidential campaign supporters choose to sit it out and let 2012 fall to her?”
After all, it’s just six weeks since her surrender to Obama. And, notes the Times, “surely everyone knows exactly what that means: only 223 weeks left until the 2012 election.”
That was nice to hear from the Florida voters you meet. Just let them know we are on their side and will do anything we can to help our girl. I am a litttle younger than they are, but not much, so I understand their pain in trying to vote for a Republican. I will not go that far myself but I will not vote for him unless Hillary is VP and will either not vote or vote for third party Murphy.
PUMAs don’t try to tell me to vote for McCain, I won’t go there no matter what you say.
Just sent my prowl.
Ladies and gentlemen: It is hard to raise money and start an organization in the best of times. These are the worst of times.
Not only do we have a well financed opponent, but he has a large number of supporters in the information industry. That means blogs and main stream media.
Many of Hillary’s supporters are broke. I know I am. Hubby lost 3 jobs to plant closings during Bush’s reign. My business as a real estate appraiser is off by over 80% since 2004.
We need real change, not the mythological kind promised by Obama. We need a good solid turn around of the economy. We need good health care for everyone. We need good schools and education for our kids. We need good international relationships withour alies. And most of all: We need a government that works.
How will this candidate with school boy credentials ever manage to make all of this work? This is not a time to take a chance on an ameteur, even with the best of intentions, and I don’t believe he even has good intentions. Look at how he has tried to steal the election! Look at how he makes deals under the table and behind closed doors. Look at how he is willing to compromise the very foundational principles of his country and his party in order to win!
With no positive choice, in either party, we really must prevail in getting Hillary Clinton placed into nomination, and nominated. Let us use all our resources, whether that be monetary or plain old hard work in every facet that does not require cash, to get her nominated and elected.
Nothing really new from France : the same old ObamaCraze. Everyone is getting ready for the visit of the Star, on friday… No answer so far from the media I’ve contacted, but let’s wait…
Today, the Saviour arrived in Iraq to save the country and to save the world. Apparently He had a perfect peace plan that nobody had ever thought of, that the iraqi prime minister supposedly approved of. After so many years ! Iraq was saved !
But later on, the same journalists said it was only a rumor, that it was not true. What a disappointment !
As I was writing on my blog today (by the way, I’d like to thank all the Pumas who visited it the other day : I was happy to see you enjoyed it. Please don’t hesitate to come, even if you don’t understand French : there are titles in English, photos, and links that may interest you :
http://hillary.meilleur.choix.qu-obama.over-blog.com/),
I realized this article : http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/09/us/politics/09obama.html?_r=1&oref=slogin&pagewanted=print
could help you convince the superdelegates that Obama is really the weaker candidate : it is about what he has done in the senate since he was elected, or rather, what he HAS NOT DONE.
I suppose the Republicans are perfectly aware of this, they must be looking forward to quoting Obama’s accomplishments : it will be easy for them to do ! Do you remember this :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzFOOcEQtP0
If Sean Hannity is ready to come to France (as #68Jeremy says) to interview BO, and ask him this sort of question, I am impatient to hear him !
I’m sure some well-known French journalists have planned a press conference with their idol on friday, but it will probably only part of the propaganda. I don’t expect them to ask His Majesty some embarrassing questions…
Did you ever get this info you were looking for this morning re: Howard Dean’s bus tour? It’s interesting that they don’t seem to list a comprehensive schedule anywhere, but judging by the links that come up on google, they seem to be putting out press releases to local media a day or so ahead. Anyway, this is the basic schedule according to:
http://www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2008/07/howard_dean_bus_tour_to_stop_i.html
“Dean’s travel plans include:
A drive from Crawford to Austin on Thursday (July 17).
Stops Friday (July 18) in New Orleans and the Mississippi cities of Hattiesburg and Jackson.
Visits to the Louisiana cities of Shreveport and Baton Rouge on Saturday (July 19).
On July 25, three stops are planned in North Carolina — Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte.
July 26 takes him to Georgia for visits to Savannah, Macon and Atlanta.
In August, the bus is scheduled to make stops in Midwest swing states like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana before it heads to Denver for the Democrat National Convention, which opens Aug. 25.”
Just as a supplement to your growl… everyone refers to his drug use as in “past” tense. I personally believe he STILL does drugs. Too many red flags about his personality to convince me otherwise.
please do answer this questin for me???
IS THIS HIS OWN PLANE?
AMERICA HAS NEVER SEEN SUCH A TRAMPLING ON ITS INSTITUTIONS & SYMBOLISMS¡¡¡¡¡¡
#109 mzebest
It was reported that he smoked/reverted to smoking as late as Feb. 2008.
IF it is not then how is he getting away with doing what he is doing did he threaten the government as well?
Obama painted over the American flag on his plane, and replaced it with what?
Maybe precious should sport a tat of his coke symbol on his forehead so people don’t forget it’s his flag replacement.
Puma mission completed.
I think we ought to put a Puma paw all over his plane.
See you later
Sent some letters of my own today and one to Harold Ickes. Got to go now. My father is in the hospital. Be back later.
third party Murphy, I read that here recently, won’t that be great?
I’ve been hoping that Hillary would branch out and form her own party, she has the support, or go Independent.
I was disappointed when she didn’t but I have so much respect and appreciation for her, I’ll just keep truckin’ here with out goals.
But we have to stick to our plan and, you never know???
I thank God for Murphy and all you wonderful sister and brother PUMAS! without you all I’d go nuts.
I briefly read or heard it was “his campaign plane.” Don’t know if it’s true. I don’t see how he could be doing what he’s dong otherwise. Those things cost…
I don’t know how much!
Prowl is complete. What’s next?
Hi, went to my inbox. Did the prowl to Ickes, e-mail and fax. Added after illegitimate nominee “who stole votes from Sen. Clinton and was awarded uncommitted ones even though he was not on the ballot. Shame on the DNC!.
Daily Prowl Completed. H. Ickes email sent. Can’t figure out how to send bcc.
#94 stoney42- your email should have a notation that says “show cc and bcc”. Click on it and then in your address area you will have a “to” line, a “cc” line, and a “bcc” line. Then you just put the email addresses you don’t want to show in the “bcc” line.
Is this joker NObama kidding? Is he testing us to see how far we’ll go?
I can’t believe that so many people are supporting him.
What is it that he needs to do to make them wake up?
He’s disrespected Hillary, Bill, the presidential seal, the flag, people, women, etc. I can’t go on this is too upsetting.
Delphine – I visited your website and it is beautiful. I understood maybe every fourth word
Also, I wrote an editorial for Le Figaro but have no idea if it will be posted. Thanks for the links…however….could you give some quick tips on navigating through a French website–like what’s the best way to find the editorial link. I went through “debates” on Le Figaro and pressed “Valider” to submit. Would that be correct?
Hi everyone!
Harold Ickes email and fax sent.
#100 Murphy,
NO HE DIDN’T! He replaced the American flag with that POS symbol of his? And these reporters that get freaking tingles up their legs think this is just something to mention in passing? I’ve f-ing had it!
OMG, WTF?
Very encouraging to hear that Hillary’s debt may be paid off. If true, that should blow some minds in DC, dont’ you think? It also feels good to know we were part of that effort.
Can someone please tell me, is there anything this man won’t do to disrespect our country? I’ve just had it with him.
Welcome!!!!
I’m glad you made it. Thanks for your support.
PUMA is International!!!!
to #50 mzebest:
I totally concur.
I think that was a boast from Obama and the media ran with it to manipulate the superdelegates.
I’ve blogged before that I thought we- HRC- supporters helped Obama in creating this myth: Initially, many of us HRC supporters all indicated that we were for HRC, but would vote for Obama “were” he to be the party nominee.
Meanwhile, the Obama supporters sent out the consistent negative message: “never Hillary”. This was propaganda designed to scare the DNC into thinking that they would lose the Obama camp if Hill were the nominee. This never seemed logical to me… why would they not vote for her if their main concern was a change in direction? These responses from the democrats in polls also caused the DNC to take the HRC supporters for granted- they just assumed we would ALL fall in line- like always.
Obama then used our own responses to polls against Hillary. Boasting he could bring back her people but not the other way around. This myth went a long way towards sabotaging Hillary and knocking her out of the race.
MANY of the HRC supporters then changed their minds about being willing to vote for Obama- once we got to see the true Obama, and once we witnessed all the disrespect and anti-Hillary hatred. The unfairness, ugliness, sexism and brutality of the primary turned us against Obama.
The DNC then LOST the very base they assumed would be loyal, when they dismissed both Hill and her supporters. Now they are trying to rally support for the weaker nominee that they installed.
Well… it never really matter if there were polls or not to back up BO’s claims. He’s never needed proof to make his arrogant statements before. I feel he was just determine to perpetuate that myth and propaganda no matter what.
And on the story of painting over the American flag with his own symbol… I hope this doesn’t sound prejudice… I’m sure it will… but I gotta tell you… I’m beginning to view that Obama symbol the same way I would feel about a nazi symbol. Everytime I see it… it’s beginning to feel like Nazi Germany to me… and I’ve really grown to hate that symbol.
Way to go antifish! I love these match me posts!
#137 heysandy,
What we all fail to recognize is that the average American is not politically involved like we are. They do not know what is going on. We are going to have to get feet on the ground after the convention if BO is still the nominee. We have to make a lot of noise to keep him from destroying out country!
Antifish, bruce, and others–I just sent the link of the story to many people on my address book. I got a real sick feeling looking at that flight attendant standing next to Barack’s quarters with the silver curtains and smiling. As for the cost of these “plane updates,” I don’t know if his campaign paid for it but the trip itself is being funded by US Tax dollars—according to Sean Hannity from his radio show this afternoon.
This is the question I have—when this plane is in international airspace—as it has been—how is it identified? Isn’t that the whole purpose of a flag on a plane–regardless if you hate your country or not?
#100 murphy
I thought candidates were not allowed to campaign internationally. The plane is an advertisement for his campaign.
Sending letters to French and German media. They need to see this super-sized ego for what it is. Took a break & watched the news but got so angry about our media fawning over this pompous ass that I had to turn it off.
Just got home from work, did the daily growl, and couldn’t wait to share this story.
While waiting for the bus to go home, a very youthful slacker-looking type walks up asking everyone if they are registered to vote.
When he asked me and I responded “Yes, I’m registered. But, while you are walking around can you pass these flyers out for me?” I handed him about three PUMA flyers (I always have plenty of PUMA flyers ready).
He smiles and said “Sure. Would you like to sign-up to volunteer?”
I said, “No, I’m already a volunteer.”
Without reading the flyers and assuming that I’m pro-Obama (my guess is…because I’m Black), the slacker starts passing out the flyers as he’s asking to register voters. A co-worker and I are watching and cracking up.
After handing out maybe 2 or 3, the slacker/volunteer starts to read the flyer. The expression on his face was hilarious.
I’m started laughing so hard that tears were coming down my face and I almost missed my bus.
You make great points. I’m incensed that we are paying for him to desecrate our flag and also, as you said, to fly a campaign slogan around the world. We need to raise hell about this! It is a perfect growl to all the mainstream media and to all our congressional representatives, regardless of party!
I think Clinton has accepted she will not be the DEM nominee this year but she expects a McCain win in Nov and she will run again in 2012. Clinton does not want to be blamed for dividing the party, so she will not put her name forward for nomination at the convention.
Daily Growl mission accomplished!
#100 Murphy and all…
I have stated this in previous posts and all are already saying “What? with our tax dollars?” It was with clear intention to repaint that plane (in total disrespect to the United States of Amercia, no less). He has been reported as specifically stating “I’m going as a senator. That should mean a United States Senator. This is clear indication that he is advertising, campaigning as a presumptive nominee and is in direct conflict. This, I hope, I pray, should be considered violation of his trip’s stated intentions. That plane sends a specific message that he is on a campaign agenda for taking this trip.
I want my tax dollars back (yeah, like that would happen). I am getting angier by the moment…
#182 mpdamon,
The link is not working for me.
The point that it is a “congressional trip” and stated that he was going as a Senator send the cost to the US Treasury. The major media that is sending his 3 high valued press secretaries, Katie C., Brian W., and Charles G., is being paid for by CBS, NBC, and ABC. 200 invitations or “requests” for seats were sent out. Those in the traveling pool HAD to REQUEST to go, even if their sponsors were paying their tab. The writer of the infamous New Yorker Article submitted a request to go and was told—”no seat is available.” Fair coverage? Yeah right!
Lin4Hill, and others who want to contact the French media before BO’s arrival :
I think once on the site, you have got two solutions:
- if you want to write to the editor : try to find the “Contact” link, generally at the very bottom of the Home page : you fill in your form, and you choose to address your message to”La Rédaction” : for example, for le Figaro :
http://www.lefigaro.fr/contact/contact.php
- if you want to publish a “comment” you can choose the International pages, or the Election USA special ; select one article about Obama, and you leave a comment by clicking on “Commentaire” : for example, for le Figaro :
http://www.lefigaro.fr/elections-americaines-2008/index.php
#178 Trish—be patient. I know, those words have begun to rattle me. However, the word is that JMcCain has had enough, especially when his opt ed was rejected by the NYT in response to Barack’s. Also, this media shark frenzy following this and hardly mentioning McCain’s MANY trips to the region is starting to take their toll with the Repubs. Look for McCain to make a statement mid to end of the week regarding this.
I agree with you about the fact that Hillary is preparing for a McCain win and subsequently running in 2012… but I disagree that she doesn’t want the nomination this year. I think 2012 is her backup plan… and she’s very much fighting for winning the nomination “this” year.
Was looking for you earlier today before my cable service went down for several hours because I had one more item you might want to add to your list of nobama flip flops. I was thinking of his statement after being elected to the US Senate that he would not run for president in 2008. It can be documented in an interview he gave after his election in Nov 2004 and there is a youtube video of him making that promise. Then, approx 144 days later he started to run.
Keep in mind the people you are talking about are Obama’s paid bloggers and the hard core militant types… but they all aren’t like that. Many are like us only they aren’t as informed. So I do believe many BO supporters would easily want to vote for Hillary.
mzebest – we will have to wait and see – but Hillary is in a difficult position as she needs to publicly support Obama knowing he cannot win in Nov and she does not want to be blamed for the defeat in Nov
#165 LONDONTOWN Is that a fact? That she won’t put her name in nomination? Even with BO going down in the polls? My goal is to have her become the nominee, McCain is the alternative.
HeySandy -I can’t watch any news anymore without getting sick to my stomach.
Was glad to see that Charles Krautheimer article about Bo’s arrogance was printed on our OpEd page in Columbus, Dispatch today. That article I believe was in the NYT yesterday and posted here. For those that didn’t read it, just look under Narcissistic Personality Disorder in the Psychiatric Definition Textbook. Bo’s has every one of the characteristics and people are catching on. The gist of the article was that Bo would be a third Bush term, Not McCain- because Bush has no humility – it’s all about him and he can’t be wrong…just like 61….
Riverdaughter is always on point which is why I love her website. Everyone here should have her site bookmarked and visited everyday.
This really is getting ridiculous. The DNC are desperate. While Obama is enjoying his first ever European vacation, Dean is probably freaking out. Obama is too arrogant to realize that he will probably lose the general election. He thinks that eventually all of us will get in line and vote for him. He’s probably like Bush and doesn’t want to read the polls or any other news that is bad or critical. That’s why he needs his media whores like MSNBC and CNN to feed his ego.
All of us just need to stay strong and realize that the media can be in the tank for Obama all they want but we have the real power in November to make sure that Obama and the current Democratic Party never get away with disenfranchising and insulting American voters ever again.
Obama ahead by 1 point today with McCain. The lowest he has been
I tell them to be safe and when they get in that booth it is them and God . Vote for there country and a clear mind and tell them what ever they need to. I think there are a lot of intimadated people and if this helps it is a good thing.
Thank you very much, delphine.
Can you give us list of news sites, blogs, maybe some local tv news stations emails… stuff of that type?
If you can, please, send some of URLs around to your friends and family.
Sorry PUMAs
I should have been clear
There is 1 prowl today
I repost the ALERT because those that come on later miss the post
So sorry if I gave you cause for worry.
You are doing wonderful work and it will bring us wonderful results.
Mama
OK, my son just really hurt my feelings. I told him about what BO did to the plane and how we should protest it and he laughed. I asked, “What? Do you think I’m crazy?” He said, “No, I think you’re funny. Don’t you realize that no matter what you do, he’s going to get elected?” I was stunned, but I said, “Well, no, I don’t think so.” He said, “Well, I think so.”, and walked out the door. I’m devastated!
#234 antifish… what’s happened? I haven’t been following the blog today.
Prowl complete!
Here’s what I keep asking myself. Why would the Dems put the least electable candidate up for nomination?
There is no clear answer….do they really believe the hype and promise and hope? Or, are they jockeying for their own power at the expense of the Common Good.
I know this is a silly question, Captain Obvious, Sir, but I cannot believe the party would throw ITSELF under the bus just for ego…..just some ramblings. TANDQ
ie..there are no dumb questions.
he is meeting with McCain at the evangelacal arena. I heard if he couldnt get 3 southern states he will be in trouble and he needs 30% evangelicals . Dont know how true. was on tv
#234 antifish
Unfortunately, many people agree with your son.
Breaks my heart.
Completed today’s Prowl. I have been putting MamaPuma’s address in the “copy to” section, and figured that was a blind copy. I just researched and found out I need to put parentheses around her address. I will do it correctly from now on, and I hope it did not cause any inconvience for her.
MamaPuma: sent my email to Ickes with blind copy to you. Hope you got it.
I sent my Growl too!
#165 Londontown on 07.21.08 at 6:27 pm
Welcome back, LondonTown!
I saw you on the Bitter Politics last night.
I have the same hunch as you. I’m still going to make sure that the DNC stays transparent for the convention. But I think her best bet is for us to defeat BO and to elect her in 2012.
Can I ask you for news, blogs sites and news outlet emails?
Thanks.
Trish
you’ve got mail
in politico
“obama´s small donors came back”…..he raised more in 1 day that MCCAIN in 1 month
is that true??? or they are bragging about¡¡¡¡
Antifish- you need to tell your son another bedtime story – the one where we all live happily ever after. BO is not going to get elected. Selected maybe, elected no.
But I don’t believe even selected if he keeps up this egomaniacal behavior.
#234 antifish
Perception is everything with some people and that’s why BOs campaign is so good at controlling it. Your son will grow out of it although mine took until his 40′s to learn. Now he asks me what he should do. I never thought I’d see that day.
#142 prplvette85
You’ve got mail!
Storytellers – that cannot be true. spin, spin, spin
234 antifish it is scary like they know something we dont right?He is sure useing the young sending them out to change there familys. So many said they are for him cause of kids or grandkids,scary and I am sorry I know I think how you feel
Thanx for info
What is Nobama’s problem with the US Flag. Won’t have one on his lapel or plane.
I’m so disgusted with the media fawning over this empty suit.
#234 antifish My son thinks I am crazy also. The day I met him for lunch he could not believe I was handing out our PUMA fliers. I told him things change so not to be so sure of himself.
Good evening everyone, here is some news about Hillary, a new website!
Hillary Buys HRC2012.Com Name
Sunday, July 20, 2008 7:01 PM
It could be just a coincidence, but a firm associated with top leaders of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 2008 presidential advance team bought the Web site domain name HRC2012.Com on June 8, according to Marc Ambinder of TheAtlantic.com.
Now, just a little more than a month later, Clinton is imploring her 2008 general election campaign supporters to approve transfer of their unused donations for this year’s presidential race over to her 2012 Senate campaign. Or perhaps into a new presidential campaign fund, just as she did with $10 million of her surplus 2006 Senate campaign funds. If they nix her request she has to give the money back no later than next month.
Those funds cannot be used for purposes other than to fund Clinton’s idle 2008 general election campaign unless the donors agree to allow her to transfer the funds to her 2012 senate re-election effort. And according to The Los Angeles Times, the funds just might also be used to help finance another run for the presidency in 2012 should Sen. Barack Obama lose in November.
The Times suggested that perhaps the domain name purchase by a company that’s worked closely with Clinton — The Markham Group — “is just what it seems: yet another step by Hillary Rodham Clinton to prepare for another run for the Senate from New York in four years. Or another run for the White House.”
Notes the Times: “We won’t know of course for some time.”
Even more of a coincidence is the fact that June 8, when the domain name was acquired, was the day after Clinton’s “I-give-up-and-heartily-support-Obama” speech. Clinton sources told Ambinder the New York senator was committed to helping elect Obama on Nov. 4 but she wanted to keep her options open for later.
In 2012, Clinton would have the option of choosing which race — Senate re-election or presidential — to enter.
According to the Times, in her first Senate re-election bid two years ago her main Web sites were HillaryClinton.com, which she still has, HillPac.com for her political action committee, and another one for her 2008 campaign debt donations.
The Times wondered why she’d need another Web site for 2012 “unless … her disappointed presidential campaign supporters choose to sit it out and let 2012 fall to her?”
After all, it’s just six weeks since her surrender to Obama. And, notes the Times, “surely everyone knows exactly what that means: only 223 weeks left until the 2012 election.”
My forever GOP boyfriend said the same thing to me. I am still not over it but I truely believe that they are wrong.
I also received a phone call from an Obama supporter looking for my son to volunteer. It was strange since we have different phone numbers and he is a registered Independent. I can’t figure out why they called me, he would never put my number on anything. She seemed to think since I am not an Obama supporter that I would not tell him she called. Maybe that is a game they routinely play?
More people don’t agree. The AOL poll has restarted. Let’s show them that we aren’t budging.
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/07/21/aol-straw-poll-july-21-28/
What did BO do to the plane??
Somebody remind me what Harold Ickes said he wanted the right to do on with Central Committee Rules or something at some point. He said that on May 31st during the famous “My mama taught me” session…
Is that still on the table?
And speaking of spin, I feel like I’ve been stuck in a Maytag dryer for 8 months.
#245 storytellers,
The entire story smacks of corruption. It’s funny how he would not release his numbers, now we get this really absurd story that he broke fund-raising records on the last day of the month. It will be interesting to find out from the FEC who exactly gave him all that money in one day. I’m willing to bet it wasn’t his five-dollar donors but rather the ones who own him.
Fish, don’t feel badly. Kids think we over-react to everything and if he sees Obama as the choice of his peer-group, well that’s the way it goes. If your parent tried to get you to vote for Obama (just an example you don’t need to defend), you would own your vote and opinion too. I have a 24 year old son…he knows I am for Hillary and is just quiet when I send him paws stamping out *61 video. He knows I would never change my vote and I haven’t asked him what he is doing.
webfoot – Thanks for the info re: blind copy
Sunnypa – funny story
I am confused. Has BO taken his plane on this trip with campaign slogans on it?
The plane shows what an egomaniac he is.
#253 Beca4hillary
I received a letter from Hillary’s campaign asking if my overage of $144 could be used for the general election. I sent it back saying NOBAMA and requesting a refund. Two days later I got a letter asking if the money could be transferred to her 2012 Senate election campaign. Seemed a little strange.
Well, folks, I’m on my way to the gym to work off some nervous energy.
See ya later.
Vote on Lou Dobbs about media
#204 Jeremy
McCain has had enough time, it’s time he put himself in this race, one of these two need a spine, Hillary had more spine than either of those two put together. He’s letting Bo take it all the way to the bank. Political races were never meant to be filled with politeness between rivalries.
shasta2001, do not be surprised with Hillary, we know that Obambi is not going to offer her the VP, she is already planning her future, that women is too friking smart!
Do you believe the national media is biased in favor of Sen. Barack Obama?
Yes 81%
No 19%
This is not a scientific poll
NATIONAL GROUP ISSUES “PALM BEACH DECLARATION” SETTING FORTH GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR ANTI-OBAMA MOVEMENT
(PALM BEACH, FL)(July 21, 2008) Obama author Andy Martin will hold a Palm Beach news conference today, July 21st at 4:30 P.M. to announce the formation of “The Stop Obama Coalition.”
Martin will also release the founding principles of the Coalition, called the “Palm Beach Declaration.”
“There are an awful lot of people across the United States who are opposed to Barack Obama for President,” Martin says. “Today they have a movement; today they have leadership for the long-haul. The anti-Obama movement lacked structure, coherence and a theme. The formation of The Stop Obama Coalition provides structure and order to Obama’s nationwide opposition.
“My new book, Obama: The Man Behind The Mask, was conceived in Palm Beach. The Palm Beach Declaration was inspired and finally drafted in Palm Beach. And we are in Palm Beach for the announcement of the founding of the Coalition, as well as the release of the ‘Palm Beach Declaration’ itself.
“‘Obama: The Man Behind The Mask’ is the de facto handbook of the anti-Obama movement. It is a work of prophetic journalism,” Martin will state. “Today there is an organized movement to go with the book.”
Most of my family are Republicans, except for my older daughter, who doesn’t take my being a PUMA seriously.
Fortunately we Pumas are serious and are a real irritation to the DNC.
Maybe is time to get some creative college students (or from high school) to create some videos with the music that they like,and take over youtube. They can spread our message to the group that “THE SELECTED” is aiming at.
The sad thing is that the McCain camp won’t do much now to point out these ills, they want McCain to run against NObama, the easier opponent.
They’re just coasting.
They will wait until October and November to unload their ammunition against him.
I think our best hope right now is to continue to “enlighten” the superdelegates and to seek the help of members of the media who are sympathetic to our cause or at least lean away from NObama, preferably in the middle between McCain and NObama.
BillieJo,
I just got home from work….YOU HAVE EMAIL
ladyhawkke 270
wow, thanks for that information, cool, I’m only a few miles from there.
Hey,—I DIDN”T get any GROWL in my mail today! What’s up with that?
Do you believe the national media is biased in favor of Sen. Barack Obama?
http://loudobbs.tv.cnn.com/
#273 continuing… sorry..
Lou Dobbs is the only one I can think of, I sent him an email today and I will do so every day.
I didn’t get any growl either.
#275 bruce55555 But it already happened @ 4:30 today.
#234 if the worst does happen and BO gets the nomination, I think the republicans (being safe from a HRC landslide) will bring out so many BO skelletions it will look like Halloween a few months early. I wish they would be a little more stand up about it and bring them out now, but they just don’t want to fight the Hill. I will still McVote. I think it’s easy for the younger people (and I am one of them…well at least I think I havn’t been voted off the island yet) to look only at issues that hit them right now. I really can’t think of any the young have to deal with. I look at taxes, how we will look in the eyes of other nations, can the canidate think for theirself and TAXES. I don’t think until you’ve had your first break-even not living under your parents roof do you really understand taxes. Income tax, property tax, tax you pay on and to do just about everything. It’s easy to support the media’s choice for president when you are not living on a paycheck that you only see $0.80 on the dollar. Don’t tell me McCain isn’t going to tax less than BO either. I don’t care. At least McCain will tell you where your money is going. Hillary had plans in place I would not mind seeing my tax dollars go to. I would enjoy paying taxes, not BO his plans stink. So to make a long rambeling story short, selling “change” is the oldest political platform ever and few have ever made good on it. It sounds great to those who have never watched it fail in person and it makes a better headline for the media who in turn influance the people who never watched it fail or not be delievered by countless others before this trainwreck of a canidate. No one ever gets the majority of votes for or hypes up the media around reason, logic, and making campagin promises that might be feasable.
#261 lol I have to laugh, not at you but at kids. My grandson says the same thing to me…..he partook of the kool aid…
I can only pray for him. But they are young and think they are out to change the world, just like us in the 60′s, but…..I knew what I was doing lol….
wow, this guy wants to jump to his death outside of Obama’s office? But now the press is being kicked out, so..of course, we’ll never learn what he is protesting. sigh*
#273 McCain is such a wimp. I really can’t stand the way he talks, so nicey, nicey. He has no guts and as someone said in an earlier post, Hillary is stronger than both of them.
Going to vote: Of course they will! They are waiting until Obama is coronated though, so that they don’t have to face the death-blow of Hillary.
more evidence of the republicans seeking victory at all costs. I am soooo disappointed at our presidential process. Again.
Got my growl…cool. Gonna get to work on it now.
Sandypa, loved your story. You go girl!!!!!
prowl complete
so you cant lose
hi antifish dont let that get you down he fells stromgly about 61 unfortunately we cant convince everybody but do not be swayed beleive me we are making a huge difference and no matter what happens you are fighting for what you beleive in
god bless and try not to let it get to you
#285 Ladyhawkke,
I agree with you, he is so trying not to show his temper, but he sounds and acts like a wimp. He has no personality, no aura. I just dont know if I could bring myself to push that button for him…..I SO NEED HILLARY!
#266 Trish–I am with you. I think he has tried to refute Barack on issues, statements, the flip flop—i.e. most recent—the surge statements regarding Iraq and his opt ed not being printed by the NYT. Also, even thought Barack and Company assume he is the nominee, he isn’t. Sean Hannity said that he was going to be interviewing McCain this week and was going to ask these questions. I will have a better feel of what is going on with his campaign and holding back after I hear what he has to say. Right now, his only outlet is his website (John McCain) and other Repub outlets. And they are being overshadowed by this Europe Event. It is dang frustrating.
I emailed my prowl for today~ I hope Mr Ickes still plans to fight like he did at the Count Every Vote in DC when I was there to rally~ the DNC can not get away with this and we can not allow it to happen!!
273 Bruce I totally agree
260 I went to site it is so Obama but I did get 2 posts in I was only one LOL
#290 prplvette85
I don’t believe that McCain is trying to not lose his temper. I believe he is being quiet so that he will continue to gain Hillary supporters and not rock the boat too much against Bo. He wants to go up against Bo, not Hillary and he needs Hillary’s supporters to win.
TO Maryland Puma:
I thought of one more example for the list you are compiling. It really bothered me at the time:
The night of the WV Primary, the Obama campaign, with the help of John Edwards, intentionally overshadowed Hillary’s big win there, by engineering Edward’s public endorsement of Obama for that very night. I think that was really an unwarrented way to demean, belittle and humiliate Hillary. It was designed to steal her thunder that night and make OBAMA the big story.
I suspect it was orchestrated with the full support of the DNC- to minimize the fact that Obama started strong and was losing momentum, while Hillary started weak and was clearly gaining support and momentum. It was strategy to boost the perception of growing support for Obama and for party gain to hide the reverse reality. So, again Hillary was sacrificed to showcase and to advantage Obama.
I thought it was dirty politics to intentionally dismiss and overshadow her win. The media was gleeful and actually praised the Obama campaign for this clever maneuver. No one declared it the cheap a low trick that it was. I lost my respect for Edwards that night.
Of course, the LAST night of the primaries, Hillary was criticized (not praised) for not immediately conceding.
Double standards… and with the media’s approval.
That was short and sweet. (the daily prowl)
Gee,the Mccain camp is talking about elections vs coronations. Too bad no one felt like speaking out for Hillary. I get so tired of seeing both of these camps copy from Hillary’s campaign hand-book. :/
Still though, it is kinda sick for a news organization to tell a candidate they have to write their policiy opinion pieces according to their, or Obama’s outlines.
291 Jeremy This could be a real blow for him. On the site260 has It tells how he is takeing The terrorist brigade for protection in Palestine. This group has been declared terrorists by European Union and others including us. He is giveing speach in Germany in front of Hitlers vicrory pillar. It represents his win over France,Denmark and Austria . Bet that makes them all happy.
Does anyone have a link to a full body shot of Hillary?
#294 Trish—he and his staffers are taking note of all of this. I think JM is quietly doing his research and has “others” giving him info on the behavior of Barack and his actions. A short time until the conventions, but a lot of time as well. I am trying to look at the whole bubble here.
#285 ladyhawkke…I agree, Hillary has “testicular fortitude”…unlike the other 2!!
Sent my daily prowl!! Great work Pumas!!
I wish there was real, honest, un-biased,mass market media out there for everyone to see and it was popular. When I took goverment in school there was a whole discussion and list of media bias and where the papers and stations fell. It drives me crazy. Just report the news. I can think for myself. (and I can debate a point and ask questions…bonus!)
I know candidates put slogans on vechicles, but when I saw Obama’s plane, I said outloud…Oh My God…then had the realization that BO is trying to get the country to chant, Oh My Obama.
re#282 prpvette85..
sure the young are idealistic..thats a given..
BUT let me point out there are some differences in the general level of intelligence and political awareness between the 60′s generation and the now generation..
my contention is the 60′s kids were head and shoulders above the youth now.This new group by and large are incredibly DUMBED DOWN and GULLIBLE…when I was in elementary school in California during the 60′s California was always#1 in education test scores and achievement CALIFORNIA was the envy of the nation..our kids back then were very sharp and could actually READ,WRITE and THINK CRITICALLY!
I think the Obama string pullers knew all too well that they could have a chance now with such a bunch of ignorant,stupid and gullible suckers we have now running around out there…
they were keyed into this knowledge and made the right bet..that is counting on IGNORANCE and STUPIDITY to get their guy in power..
i found it odd that Jackson came out with that”open mike” comment and took all the attention for days away from Obama voteing for FISA. Kind of like everytime Hillary had an important speech or win he would up stage her. He is at lowest now 1 point ahead of McCain
I already maxed with my donation for Hillary. Is their any other way to donate to help her?
#289 tec1965,
I didn’t mean to give the wrong impression. My son is not a BO supporter. He supported Hillary and will be voting for McCain, but he’s around a lot of young people every day and thinks BO is unbeatable. I disagree. The polls just do not support that scenario. BO has gained no traction against McCain since being “selected”. On the contrary, he had slipped.
#299 Jeremy
McCain needs to start speaking out. Cripes what more research does he need to know in order to fight Bo. One intelligent strong statement is more than Bo could ever give. This is going to be the dullest election ever, if Hillary doesn’t get the nomination. Two duds blowing in the wind.
#297 jane-pa on 07.21.08 at 7:35 pm 291 Jeremy
The bigger concern is not what he has on his plane, it’s where he is taking that advertisement.
I cannot donate money to Hillary or PUMA Pac as its seen as having a potential for international influence/interference. But Bo can fly his jumbo pepsi logo around the world.
#298 I have some pix I took of her when she was in Indiana, I have some full body shots you can gmail me
303 puma I dont think they are so dumb but they sure are brainwashed. Any thing good about our country isnt allowed on collage campus. They have people come in to speak that are anti American and anti Religous. It was said by a Russian that neednt fire a shot. to take us over. You want a country you get the minds of there youth. Collages give liberal teaching have profs. teaching How bad this country is and it needs a take over and along comes Obama. Gathering his youth. It is a scary thing and if he somehow does get in it will be the end of our country. Change indeed.He wont get in legally but than he isnt legal
#312 freddiebrown… What another incredible gesture on your part!
#199 Delphine, you are wonderful. Based on your advice, I do believe my comments at Le Figaro probably did go through, but I am going to send some more with the address you have provided. Merci!
IndyPUma, Delphine provided a whole bunch of French sites a couple of days ago–think it was the thread that said “Happy Birthday Seneca Falls” –that’s where I got LeMonde and LeFigaro from. The dartmouth site also is terrific, and that’s how I got some of the British sites I wrote to.
#307 Trish–
I am playing the “Devil’s Advocate” here. I agree with what you are saying and I feel every emotion. I am just putting myself–let’s say–in Brian Williams or Katie Courac’s head right now. What if John McCain began to point out the negatives regarding the flip flop in policy and that Barack has changed, over the weekend, regarding his position in Afghanistan—The press, MSM, et. al. would be spinning it as “McCain goes negative with Barack’s planned visit to clarify his positions regarding Iraq…ladeladeladee.” I don’t agree with it, but I can see why it may be a wise decision now. That is my take.
OK – each and everyday we have folks asking if they are first on the blog. It is getting old and redundant and really who cares ? Lets be really mindful that Murphy is trying to get media to take notice of us and we are wasting blogging space asking if you’re the first blogger. It seemsto be the first thing we read every day. Am I the first? After the 6th post , it seems very annoying already – lets post something worthy of being the first post of the day – everyday.
mijabsnji Hillary did not loan the campaign one million today, she loaned the campaign one million in June.
OK Pumas, I’m outta here for the evening. I need sleep. Goodnight all.
For the software company, see Oracle Corporation. For other uses, see oracle (disambiguation).
“Consulting the Oracle” by John William Waterhouse, showing eight priestesses in a temple of prophecyAn oracle is a person or agency considered to be a source of wise counsel or prophetic opinion; an infallible authority, usually spiritual in nature. It may also be a revealed prediction or precognition of the future, from deities, that is spoken through another object (e.g.: runemal) or life-form (e.g.: augury and auspice). In the ancient world many sites gained a reputation for the dispensing of oracular wisdom: they too became known as “oracles”, and the oracular utterances, called khrēsmoi in Greek, were often referred to under the same name — a name derived from the Latin verb ōrāre, to speak.
#290 prplvette85 I know what you mean, as Italians, we are not used to such wimpy men. I’m going to have a hard time voting for him. And my brother called me yesterday and said he may vote for Obama because Bush and the Repubs have screwed up the environment. True, Bush has been the worst president as far as the environment is concerned.
Am listening to Lou Dobbs, love him, especially his stance against illegal aliens. I’m originally from Miami and I had to leave, no one spoke English and they trashed my beautiful city.
Looks like he’s turned the stripes of the US flag into a road for his bus to run over…
I am trying to raise money for my way to Denver~ i have already donated some~ but what would you ask for the cake in the bake sale I am doing? $5? $6? any suggestions puma’s???
#349 DWP–That is the part about it that slaps me in the fact when I see it. It is like the US is being drawn in or sucked into this “other side.” It is weird. I read somewhere that George McGovern’s was very similar. I will look for the link.
#344 Jeremy…Oracle, did ancient Greeks go to the Oracles at Delphi? Yes, I think he feels he is God Like, with prescient knowledge…but I question his source. I am not sure, but I think Murphy wants us to keep some thoughts to ourselves…but this is what I thought of him all along.
#350 SouthJerseyPUMA… For a home baked cake I would ask at least $6 and would give $8. Good luck!
Might be good what BO did to his plane – I think it might just be a blessing in disguise. By doing this, he might just be saying that he is not an American and that he does not represent the United States (no flag).
Therefore he doesn’t represent us. As an American, I am embarrassed and mortified by him and I can tell you that he does NOT represent ME.
The world will get the picture once he tries to take over all of the other countries should his US coup succeed.
Fred ty for all you have done…also many people liked the posters you made
#272CaribbeanPuma – Agree – we need to get to the younger crowd on you tube – that can make a big difference -
So many new Pumas here today – ok Trish I am stopping and back to your project – just tried to skim over a few postings here.
DWP…how like you to get to the heart of the matter.
I still wonder at times if this is all a sham for the repubs., I know it sounds ridiculous but what if, if mind you that this whole thing is a sham, putting bo out there to be a smoke screen, then at the convention Hillary will be nominated, I know sounds dumb, but sometimes it crosses my mind
BigCatLover #30 ~ I saw Will on FOX and he was great. The newsreader host kept interrupting him – quite rudely, IMO – and her reaction was so over-the-top astonished that anyone would claim it was a fraudulent campaign. Let’s just say, methinks the lady doth protest too much. How could you be in the news industry and NOT have some clue that there are great rumblings surrounding the campaign ethics of BO ??? I ask you. I think she is a closet BO supporter.
SunnyPA #154 ~ great flyer story!
McCain’s New York Times Editorial
Dear Pumas,
I copied this from the Drudge Report (http://drudgereport.com/flashnym.htm). It begins with commentary about the New York Times rejecting McCain’s Op-Ed piece. The second half contains the unedited text of what McCain wrote.
**************************
NYT REJECTS MCCAIN’S EDITORIAL; SHOULD ‘MIRROR’ OBAMA
Mon Jul 21 2008 12:00:25 ET
An editorial written by Republican presidential hopeful McCain has been rejected by the NEW YORK TIMES — less than a week after the paper published an essay written by Obama, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
The paper’s decision to refuse McCain’s direct rebuttal to Obama’s ‘My Plan for Iraq’ has ignited explosive charges of media bias in top Republican circles.
‘It would be terrific to have an article from Senator McCain that mirrors Senator Obama’s piece,’ NYT Op-Ed editor David Shipley explained in an email late Friday to McCain’s staff. ‘I’m not going to be able to accept this piece as currently written.’
MORE
In McCain’s submission to the TIMES, he writes of Obama: ‘I am dismayed that he never talks about winning the war—only of ending it… if we don’t win the war, our enemies will. A triumph for the terrorists would be a disaster for us. That is something I will not allow to happen as president.’
NYT’s Shipley advised McCain to try again: ‘I’d be pleased, though, to look at another draft.’
[Shipley served in the Clinton Administration from 1995 until 1997 as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Presidential Speechwriter.]
MORE
A top McCain source claims the paper simply does not agree with the senator’s Iraq policy, and wants him to change it, not “re-work the draft.”
McCain writes in the rejected essay: ‘Progress has been due primarily to an increase in the number of troops and a change in their strategy. I was an early advocate of the surge at a time when it had few supporters in Washington. Senator Barack Obama was an equally vocal opponent. ‘I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there,’ he said on January 10, 2007. ‘In fact, I think it will do the reverse.’
MORE
Shipley, who is on vacation this week, explained his decision not to run the editorial.
‘The Obama piece worked for me because it offered new information (it appeared before his speech); while Senator Obama discussed Senator McCain, he also went into detail about his own plans.’
Shipley continues: ‘It would be terrific to have an article from Senator McCain that mirrors Senator Obama’s piece. To that end, the article would have to articulate, in concrete terms, how Senator McCain defines victory in Iraq.’
Developing…
*****************************
The DRUDGE REPORT presents the McCain editorial in its submitted form:
In January 2007, when General David Petraeus took command in Iraq, he called the situation “hard” but not “hopeless.” Today, 18 months later, violence has fallen by up to 80% to the lowest levels in four years, and Sunni and Shiite terrorists are reeling from a string of defeats. The situation now is full of hope, but considerable hard work remains to consolidate our fragile gains.
Progress has been due primarily to an increase in the number of troops and a change in their strategy. I was an early advocate of the surge at a time when it had few supporters in Washington. Senator Barack Obama was an equally vocal opponent. “I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there,” he said on January 10, 2007. “In fact, I think it will do the reverse.”
Now Senator Obama has been forced to acknowledge that “our troops have performed brilliantly in lowering the level of violence.” But he still denies that any political progress has resulted.
Perhaps he is unaware that the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has recently certified that, as one news article put it, “Iraq has met all but three of 18 original benchmarks set by Congress last year to measure security, political and economic progress.” Even more heartening has been progress that’s not measured by the benchmarks. More than 90,000 Iraqis, many of them Sunnis who once fought against the government, have signed up as Sons of Iraq to fight against the terrorists. Nor do they measure Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki’s new-found willingness to crack down on Shiite extremists in Basra and Sadr City—actions that have done much to dispel suspicions of sectarianism.
The success of the surge has not changed Senator Obama’s determination to pull out all of our combat troops. All that has changed is his rationale. In a New York Times op-ed and a speech this week, he offered his “plan for Iraq” in advance of his first “fact finding” trip to that country in more than three years. It consisted of the same old proposal to pull all of our troops out within 16 months. In 2007 he wanted to withdraw because he thought the war was lost. If we had taken his advice, it would have been. Now he wants to withdraw because he thinks Iraqis no longer need our assistance.
To make this point, he mangles the evidence. He makes it sound as if Prime Minister Maliki has endorsed the Obama timetable, when all he has said is that he would like a plan for the eventual withdrawal of U.S. troops at some unspecified point in the future.
Senator Obama is also misleading on the Iraqi military’s readiness. The Iraqi Army will be equipped and trained by the middle of next year, but this does not, as Senator Obama suggests, mean that they will then be ready to secure their country without a good deal of help. The Iraqi Air Force, for one, still lags behind, and no modern army can operate without air cover. The Iraqis are also still learning how to conduct planning, logistics, command and control, communications, and other complicated functions needed to support frontline troops.
No one favors a permanent U.S. presence, as Senator Obama charges. A partial withdrawal has already occurred with the departure of five “surge” brigades, and more withdrawals can take place as the security situation improves. As we draw down in Iraq, we can beef up our presence on other battlefields, such as Afghanistan, without fear of leaving a failed state behind. I have said that I expect to welcome home most of our troops from Iraq by the end of my first term in office, in 2013.
But I have also said that any draw-downs must be based on a realistic assessment of conditions on the ground, not on an artificial timetable crafted for domestic political reasons. This is the crux of my disagreement with Senator Obama.
Senator Obama has said that he would consult our commanders on the ground and Iraqi leaders, but he did no such thing before releasing his “plan for Iraq.” Perhaps that’s because he doesn’t want to hear what they have to say. During the course of eight visits to Iraq, I have heard many times from our troops what Major General Jeffrey Hammond, commander of coalition forces in Baghdad, recently said: that leaving based on a timetable would be “very dangerous.”
The danger is that extremists supported by Al Qaeda and Iran could stage a comeback, as they have in the past when we’ve had too few troops in Iraq. Senator Obama seems to have learned nothing from recent history. I find it ironic that he is emulating the worst mistake of the Bush administration by waving the “Mission Accomplished” banner prematurely.
I am also dismayed that he never talks about winning the war—only of ending it. But if we don’t win the war, our enemies will. A triumph for the terrorists would be a disaster for us. That is something I will not allow to happen as president. Instead I will continue implementing a proven counterinsurgency strategy not only in Iraq but also in Afghanistan with the goal of creating stable, secure, self-sustaining democratic allies.
#363 SouthJerseyPUMA… you are more than welcome!
#221NewOrleansPUMA : thank you for leaving your comment on my blog. I’m glad to know you can revise your French thanks to me !
#232IndyPUMA : the list of the French newspapers, radios, tv channels I have contacted can be found in my comment #591 posted two days ago on this site Happy Birthday Seneca Falls .
If you’re lost, once on the sites, you can read the advice I sent to Lin4Hill today (#199). If you’ve got difficulties, ask me !
Lin4Hill, I hope you will enjoy your trip to France : say hello to your daughter, who, I hope, is also a Puma ! As you arrive on the same day as BO, you’ll be able to watch the French tv to see how mad we are here, with all that Obamania !
I didn’t see an answer to my question about Harold Ickes at the end of the DNC Meeting on 5/31 he said:
We reserve the right to yadda yadda yadda credentials committee……Have they done that? Is that still doable?
Does anybody know what I am talking about? Or was I just so teary eyed during the broadcast that I imagined it?
#368 Firebelle–Thanks for the post/link. This decision by the NYT is not going to go away–as others have.
Hi everyone i sent my letter to Ickes and i sent a letter to Pat Kiley he has a great radio show. I even invited him to come into Puma .He is very out spoken on his show about the rigged election
#367~ HI Jeremy, I sure am banking on that! I am praying that the polls are off for that silent majority that werent able to vote on them~ I live survival mode~ under 10 grand a yr… still raising an 8 yr old daughter, raised 4 older… but even with going back to school [medical training] to try and make a difference in my life, they want to hire you at $10-$12 an hr per diem and give no bene’s~ now i have health issues that interfeared with me doing my job~ so I now have none..
I am the american that Hillary fights for~ thats why she is the only one for me!
WOOO HOOOO its nice to know other countries are supporting us its ashame they cannot help us take this man down.
I wonder what is going through Hillary’s mind right now.
I know there are a few people who really want to go to Denver and doing what they can to get there.
I see it as doing it all for our beloved country America! -We have to do what we can. I just hope that while I am stuck at work (trade show) some one can blog to let us know what is happening and go show them folks that we won’t back down. It is a country worth fighting for and Hillary is worth fighting for.
I don’t know that anyone can answer your question right now. We’re all desperate to find out what will happen at the convention.
According to someone from the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee whom I corresponded with yesterday, for Hillary’s name to be placed in nomination, (1) someone must nominate her, (2) she must accept the nomination, and (3) the nomination must be accompanied by a petition signed by at least 300 delegates. It’s a little more complicated than that, but that’s the gist of it.
There are also matters to be decided by the Convention Rules Committee (which is different from the DNC Rules Committee). But even what little information my source relayed to me is over my head.
Plus, as we’ve seen, the DNC doesn’t respect the rules or the voters anyhow. So even if we could answer your question today, there’s no guarantee the DNC wouldn’t do something different tomorrow.
I wish I could be more helpful or encouraging.
#371 Lorelai… that’s what he said. But, I had read later that they were not going to pursue that avenue in the name of party unity.
You never know at this stage in the game, however, and with all that is happening daily.
I think I am going to pack it in early tonight.
377 freddiebrown i will be there and i am sure someone will have a laptop. What trade show??
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE DONUT BUT NOT ON THE HOLE!
FOCUS! FOCUS!
I live in the city with tons of trade shows Lost wages
Yes and allways think possitive and things will go our way.
#374 SouthJerseyPUMA—Hillary fights/fought for you and all of us in one way or another–she is completely Inclusive. That is why she is the only choice that our country clearly deserves. I feel that she has walked in some way or the other in all of our “shoes” and “paths.” Don’t bank on those polls—I have yet to be asked–involuntarily my position.
#371 Lorelai
One more thing I didn’t say earlier … Hillary and company are being very low-key for a reason. They need everyone to believe they’re playing the unity game now and that they’re not actively working for the nomination. Otherwise Obama and his ilk will surely do everything possible to block her chances. Hillary, Ickes, and others can’t afford to reveal anything they are planning.
Goodnight everyone. Have a nice evening! Stay positive. This thing is not even close to being over.
Laugh and the world will laugh with you
#358 Tree,
I tend to agree with you. Not seeing or hearing from Bill, also her lending her campaign more money, I just believe she is going to be nominated. The Clintons are very smart, they know what is going on. And the big fund raisers are not giving him anything….makes you wanna say hmmmmm
good night won’tbackdown sweet dreams
Firebelle and wontbackdownl…Thanks for the clarification attempts…so basically, we made up our minds….we don’t know the answer!
Things unfold daily – so one at a time, one crack in the ceiling at a time…..get out the grout:)
We can do this PUMAS…I’m still boggled by the airplane debacle….
With regard to drug use…I know he was smoking cigarettes and trying to get off during the debates by chewing nicorette (orders from MO) but don’t know if successful- “Can anyone say gateway drug?”…
Like i told you before President Clinton belongs to the 300 Leaders of the worls club. They meet once a year and it is a private thing and the news never knows when they meet
Also, what I know for sure…
No more chat room for me – sorry Bruce but I have enough spinning from the news media – that place is too fast for me…I still am on dramamine from last night! roflol – How’s that for learning the letters so quickly?!
No more Oprah for me either !! EVER
#387 and #390—Sometime silence can be deafening or Shouting quickly becomes annoying–and I stay with the phrase that “no news is sometimes good news.” The Clintons are smart–that is another thing that they earned–is was NOT given to them.
Your right Jeramy and never underestimate either of the Clintons .They know much more than we do and they are duel fighters and very strong people.
Jeremy, yes you are right~ i didnt mean to imply/say Hillary hasnt fought for us all in one way or another~ just that I am at the bottom of it all~ and I just cant keep up~ I was so excited to see Hill finally winning in the primaries, and then when the DNC shoved it up our koolies~ my heart sank for any hope of a real change to see our country come back on its feet~ this group and the clinton forum has helped me to have hope and a cause to fight back with all of you! you all dont know how much it means to me to read the articles that give me hope in seeing democracy upheld!! but I do know Hill has fought for many~ and why i will fight for her~
thank you for the conversation!
Anyone have an in with the NorthEast local group for PUMA activity? I signed up for it but never get ANY action alerts. Other than knowing there’s a weekly barbeque..which means nothing, so far as I’m concerned. I want to start getting out there with other PUMAs and spreading our information so we can get more people to join us while there’s still time to make an impact.
Also, a reminder, if you want to join the PUMA chat, there’s a few of us over here. If you don’t have the link, email me and I’ll pass it on to you. Kerriwyn at aol dot com. (Trying to avoid trolls)
If any of you know a really good radio talk show that seniors would listen to please send them a e-mail. Let them know about us and what,who and why.Seniors just do not know about Senator Clinton only suspending her campaign. I talked to a couple this morning at the Doctors and they said oh no you are wrong shes out. It only took me 5 minutes to explain what was going on and they said oh we do want to believe you and we want her so bad. So there you go
Hello,
I saw your Web site and am interested with speaking to the owner to hear a little more about it.
Would you please give me a call at 202-772-xxxx or email me back with contact info and/or responses to the following questions?
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing back from you.
Best regards,
My main questions are:
Who runs this Web site?
You link to several sites from former Clinton supporters. Are you associated with the PumaPAC or the Just Say No Deal coalition?
Have you ever been a supporter of Hillary Clinton?
Did you support Obama in the primary? How much? Did you donate to the campaign?
If so, what was the turning point for you when you no longer supported Obama.
Have you donated or were involved with any campaign or other official organization?
How many people are affiliated with this site? How many people have registered with the site?
Evening Pumas, sent out Sun growl and Mon growl …..I just wanted to share the fact that since this Primary was the closest in history (why neither candidate could get the delegates) the one that is not the nominee CAN go to the convention and demand the Vice Presidency….I bet they don’t want people to know that…that’s not what I want but it sure seems like that is alot of power.
Good Evening
Do you travel to different shows or stay in one area?
I’ve yet to experience Atlanta, someday!
Like I posted earlier, I think the NYT inadvertently gave McCain a gift with their decision. I hope he uses it to his advantage.
Maybe AARP will let you print something? I thought someone else was working with them but don’t remember who. Also, most papers have a “senior “section. It may only be one day a week or everyday. Senior centers are also good places to get to them. I will ask my parents if they have any other thoughts on how to reach a broad base of seniors as they have an Alzheimers organization.
#401 Kerri
Let me know if you find anything in the tri-state area — would like to meet local Pumas as well.
bythelake#129 — nice!
apparently his campaign pays for the plane — but imagine? $300,000 of campaign money to repaint the American flag in his image?
Can you just imagine Hillary spending that much of her donors’ hard earned dollars to paint a picture of her face on the tail of a plane?
Have we entered the Twilight Zone for real?
Jeremy – nothing new but she went to the same school of narcissism that BO did apparently. She can recommend books for me to read, but not who to vote for….And, in the last six years since she has had her magazine, only SHE has been on the cover….what do you want to bet that she’ll put Barack on the cover in November? lol
I will write AARP a letter and phone the local one here and see where to go from there.
#401 Kerri~ sent you email…
MURPHY, or anyone else that can answer.. I thought that even pledged delegates could change their minds. Am I wrong about that ??
KENDALBLUE, that’s right. Any delegate can change their minds at the last minute. At least that is what I heard Hillary say herself during the compaign.
I don’t know where Will Bower gets his info from (isn’t he the guy who started the scare that donating to HRC.com was not going to pay down the debit?) yup he is.
Hillary is still up to her ears in debit.
#423 Lorelai–thanks for the O update. This is from a male viewpoint, and you have to be careful now how you word things, but I never understood her ambiance just like her POTUS Pick of the Year. And as far as her magazine cover—she might as well keep posing for whoever she pays to take her pictures. I heard today that Barack has already or is close to breaking the record for appearing on “valued” rags covers for this year. I don’t think she will yield to the whole cover–it will be a duo shot. That way, she will be able to say,” I was in the picture, too.” “And remember who advised you on the selection.”
Are you referring to the Bohemian Club?
I’m on Long Island. I know there are a lot of NJ pumas on here…if you guys just keep asking you will prolly find plenty.
I’m part of a smaller meet up group, it’s by invite only, to avoid trolls. However ifyou’re a regular at this site you can get at me and I’ll give you the link. (sent to you SJ puma) It’s for NJ/NY pumas.
I find that the best way to get a meet going is to SUGGEST specific place/dates/times.
That’s really all it takes. People WANT to act, but we’re all waiting for a grand organizer to come around, and that’s not going to happen. I have seen that a suggestion gets results.
I was just asking because we had that whole sign up for your local chapter thing a few weeks back, and I did and know many others who did as well, and most of us have had no real resulsts from it. Thought maybe someone was in contact with the area organizers who could ask what’s up with this?
Subject: We hear you
Dear Mr. Fowler and Ms. Germond,
Thank you for letting us know that our efforts to protest the 2008 presidential election – the carping, the complaining, and the criticizing, as you put it – are having the desired effect.
And thank you for using ridiculous and completely inapt sports analogies to support your opinions, as they prove our point about just how badly you, the Democratic Party’s leaders – who have once again confirmed that you understand nothing of the meaning of representative democracy or the significance of our core democratic principles –, have failed us. I would love to see how each of you would react when someone arbitrarily took something of great importance to you, away from you, and then insisted you “just get over it”. The DNC took our votes, and slammed them into their rear pocket, and said , “Nope, we want this guy”. Sorry. My vote is precious to me, and I will not “get over” your rabbery of it. Not now, not in the future, and I have voted Democratic straight for 40 years. I am only sad that I am just “bothering” you and corrupt game players.
The situation we’re all in was the result of your inappropriate actions and inactions, not ours. So let the division of the party that has failed us all so badly begin.
xxxxxxxxxxxxx, jr.
Sincerely,
Virginia Voter/Democrat now Independent
LOL—— I’ve been meaning to get a TV brick !! But I was just hearing Hannity give Obama hell …
O.K.—Do we have an expert on the Prime Minister of Australia in the house now? Got an email regarding his stance on an issue. It could have been “copied, poasted,pasted,alterated, etc.” and not real sure of the credibility. Googled for a little, but my patience with it waned. Thought I might get faster action here.
No surprise there, that creepy Colms has always been on the BO bandwagon.
I ordered one today. I’m excited!
Hey guys, I haven’t been able to post for awhile, and cn only do alittle now. Question: Is anyone else email from celebratehillary? I’m getting one everyday and to unsubscribe I have to give way more info than I want to. Also, when I click on the link, an error page comes up. I’ve blocked it, but just am curious.
#446–Keep you eye on Hannity–don’t throw his off yet. He was wired for sound today on his radio show. It might just be a teaser to keep you watching. He is on a mission. (Hannity that is)
Colmes and his wife and his mother were all for Hillary untill she suspended her campaign. He says it every once in a while. But he is a Democrat and Hannity is Republican so as news anchors that is part of their show
So..I was wondering…anyone here keeping an eye on the European press? We know our media is biased..I’m hoping that Europe sickens over Obama’s megolomania. We won’t know unless we look at what they’re saying in thier own countries though.
From Yahoo,
Funny read. They do not have a clue
AMMAN, Jordan—An Obama campaign ban on green clothing during the candidate’s visits to Israel and Jordan has created wide puzzlement among observers of the Middle East.
In a memo to reporters, described as “a few guidelines we sent staff before departure to the Middle East,” Obama advance staffer Peter Newell laid out rules on attire for Jordan and Israel. First among them: “Do not wear green.” An Obama aide explained to reporters that green is the color associated with the militant Palestinian group Hamas. But while the color does appear on Hamas banners, there is no particular symbolism to wearing green clothes, experts said. Moreover, green is more generally seen as a symbol of Islam.” A ban on wearing green seems bizarre,” said Richard Bulliet, a professor of Middle Eastern history at Columbia University, who said the color is associated with the family of the Prophet Mohammed. “I would hazard the guess that the campaign’s concern is more with distorted—and religiously inaccurate—reporting by Obama’s detractors than with any actual signal that might be conveyed,” he said, referring to false rumors that Obama is a Muslim. “You don’t want to have some blogger come along and say ‘Obama is showing his true color.’” “I think they’re just being overcautious to a ridiculous degree,” Bulliet said. Mohamad Bazzi, a professor of journalism at New York University and former Middle East bureau chief for Newsday, called the instruction “very strange.”“I guess green is the ‘Hamas color’ — but it’s also the color of Islam!” Bazzi said in an email from Beirut. “That’s one way for the Obama campaign to alienate 1.4 billion Muslims worldwide.” Though the campaign’s other sartorial instructions – directing women to dress demurely – are fairly standard, Bazzi said he’d never heard it suggested before that journalists not wear green while traveling in the Middle East, an observation echoed by other reporters. “I’ve been to the Middle East with Secretaries of State and on my own, and I’ve never heard of anything like that,” said New York Sun national security reporter Eli Lake. Obama’s trip was organized independently of the State Department, and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice advised American embassies Thursday to avoid helping presidential campaigns with their foreign trips. Hamas, the group that controls the Gaza Strip, flies a green flag, as do some other Islamist groups. But the color appears on a vast array of official symbols, including the Saudi flag. Jordan’s Queen Rania al-Abdullah has been pictured in green outfits. Early images from Obama’s trip also suggested that the rule is being observed in the breech: One cameraman on the tarmac in Amman can be seen in a green checked shirt.“We wanted to be as respectful as possible. We wanted to go to the highest level,” said Jen Psaki, an Obama spokeswoman in Amman, of the campaign’s full list of sartorial suggestions, which also include a ban on nail polish and tank tops for women. Another Obama spokesman, Bill Burton, didn’t explain the admonition against wearing green, but downplayed the memo. “It was an informal document put together by people on the ground compiling info from a range of sources,” he said. “Some reporters on our trip had asked for advice on what to wear and so it was given to travelling press.” A spokesman for the Council on American Islamic Relations, Ibrahim Hooper, said Muslims might take offense at the campaign’s instruction. “Are you kidding?” Hooper asked, when told of the memo, calling the move a “misstep.” “The color green is associated with Islam worldwide,” he said. “Whether in some particularly tiny geographic location there’s some other local association based on politics is one thing, but to ask people not to wear green – are they going to ask people if he goes to Ireland, are they going to ask them not to wear green or orange?” The president of the Arab American Institute, James Zogby, said he didn’t think the rule would give offense, but that he did find it puzzling. “I’ve never heard of that before,” he said, adding that nobody had ever suggested avoiding the color on his satellite television show, which airs weekly in the Arab world. “This is an overreach on somebody’s part,” he said. “It’s not going to insult anybody, nor is it going to offend them if somebody does wear green.” Officials at pro-Israel groups that lead groups of journalists to the region declined to comment, but people familiar with trips led by everyone from the American Israel Education Foundation (the charitable arm of the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC) to the White House and State Department to the Israeli government said they’d never heard of such a rule. “Our folks in Jerusalem and the USA have no idea what this is about,” said an official of one major American Jewish organization. “We have not ever suggested that people not wear the color green. During the disengagement from Gaza, the color orange was the color of the anti-disengagement folks, so we did advise folks not to make an unintentional political statement by wearing orange.” Jeff Ballabon, a Republican consultant active in pro-Israel causes, was also baffled by the explanation of the link between green and Hamas. “Why didn’t he also ban the use of yellow, which is Hezbollah’s color?” “I hear they aren’t going to order croissants because they’re crescent-shaped,” he quipped.
Budoff Brown reported from Amman; Smith from New York.
Hi guys,
I wanted to let you know about this upcoming protest.
Why doesn’t anybody ever ask Obama this question: Will he ever reinstate the draft in order to beef up the military?
I hate war, and I hate to think of a draft, but honestly, isn’t that a practical reality, if we continue on this road? That our military is stretched so thin as it is, doing multiple tours of duty one after another. And our national guard troops are also being sucked away for the same reason — to Iraq, Afghanistan, you name it — because we don’t have adequate troops.
I keep hearing that we don’t have enough soldiers to handle these conflicts. And recruiting numbers are down. Is this true, or not??
What do you think all those young Obama supporters would do if he said he’d reinstate the draft? After all, it is likely they would be the ones drafted.
Hillary Clinton is the only candidate who has a clear vision and plan to get us out of Iraq, and soon. She has the support of dozens of former generals. We need a leader with her experience, her understanding of history….her inner strength…but instead the youth of today is GAMBLING on a nubile candidate who has little experience with any of these issues.
Big gamble, if you ask me.
KERRI……… Not sure so much about Europe, but certainly the media in South America is playing up osama OBAMA !! All the people I know in Argentia were for Hillary. And it seemed the media too. But now it’s all propaganda for HUSSAIN OBAMA !! You wouldn’t believe the hype of the media. I’m sure they are feeding off of ours. They follow us very closely. Base their whole economy around us.
Shocking News For Obama
(must be those Michigan PUMA’s)
Detroit News Poll: Michigan Will Be Close
A new Detroit News poll shows a tight race in Michigan with Sen. Barack Obama edging Sen. John McCain, 43% to 41% with 12% undecided. Another 5% support either Bob Barr or Ralph Nader.
The survey’s 4 point margin of error makes the race a statistical tie.
I have just registered onto this blog today. I have been a puma since the DNC has done such a dirty deed. It has left a bad taste in my mouth and I would like to help as much as I can to get Hilary on the ticket. If not the first woman president of this united states.
This weekend I was at an anime con 45 minutes away from where I live. If any of you know what Japanese Anime you will understand that we are all different thinking people, and that we can see a rat when there is one thanks to all the villains in the anime that we watch.
About 80% of Otaku (which means anime freak in Japanese) are upset with Obama and have com paired him to Naraku from one of the animes or one of the other villains in these anime that we watch.
I just wanted to tell you that my Generation and the underground otaku are tired of Obama and would not want him in office because it might if not WILL obliterate the country that we all live in.
Did anybody else get a letter from Joseph Figueiredo asking the following: For the next two weeks (Monday-Thursday) we will be running a phone bank from 5 pm to 9 pm at HQ to ask our supporters to redesignate their 2008 general election contribution to Senator Clinton’s 2012 re-election campaign. Since Hillary is no longer a candidate for President, these funds must be designated to a different election or refunded.
I told him the following:
I know Hillary suspended he run for President but I have not given up hope on her somehow pulling this out. I’m sorry but I can’t ask our supporters to redesignate their 2008 general election contribution to Senator Clinton’s 2012 re-election campaign at this time.
She won more votes than any candidate in primary history. She won every big state Democrats need to win in November, most of them by double-digit margins: New York, New Jersey, California, Massachusetts, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio.
Neither candidate, Obama nor Clinton, has enough delegates to secure the nomination.
Her delegates represent US. They have a RIGHT to vote for the candidate we chose. She has a right to a FAIR fight.
Hillary Clinton’s name needs to be put in for nomination at the convention – for a REAL vote and anything can happen.
If you look at the following link and go to page 16 number 6 it explains the process in detail.
[[Why doesn’t anybody ever ask Obama this question: Will he ever reinstate the draft in order to beef up the military?]]
A couple of months ago, that was one of my biggest fears with McCain, because he was the one promoting staying in Iraq for 100 years if necessary. Although I’ve never heard him address this question directly, I felt much better when I heard him one day talking about education incentives for people who enroll in the military. I felt that maybe he’s inclined to stay with an all-volunteer military.
From what other people have been posting the last couple of days, it appears that Obama is thinking more along the lines of a civilian force he can call his own. Never mind the programs that are already in place. If, God forbid, we would have to beef up our military, Obama is more likely to draw from his “loyal followers” who blindly support that fraud.
These are just my gut-feel responses, so don’t put too much stock in them. Yours is a good question to put to both candidates if Obama will ever agree to the debates McCain keeps calling for.
On the other hand, we can predict Obama’s answer now … Of course, he won’t support reinstating the draft. Which means that by the time he gets done flip-flopping, we’re doomed.
#474 John–regarding recent MI poll (and others). The undecided at this point is the number that everyone needs to keep focused on–also those numbers going to Nader. Those are the fluid votes or that “silent majority” that I was posting about earlier. This is not over by a long shot and I don’t care what the IN color is in Jordan( thanks for the info by the way ) or how Barack paints his 757. Those 12 percenters will GROWL in the right direction in November. This is Barack’s moment and if this makes you nauseous, then you better fire up your light sabre and take your TV’s off your s–t list now. This is only preview to what August in Denver is going to bring. I know it has been said—keep level heads and stay focused. Taking my deep breaths now.
Yeah—well, that’s the result of the DNC May 31st meeting and allowing the Michigan Challenge take delegates away, and handing the nomination over to BHO based upon some gosh darn EXIT POLL.
That, and on the morning of June 3rd, the AP sent out an announcement saying that BHO had already won the nomination, when folks hadn’t even gone to the polls yer to vote.
That false report came out about 7:30 in the morning, and I am on East coast. South Dakota and Montana were hours away. So I concluded that the AP were trying to throw an election by their false and misleading reporting. For example, to suggest to the voters, it’s over… go home and dont vote for her cause our messiah has already won.
This is more than just the DNC folks, it is also about the DNC and BHO going to bed with media.
It’s about money and ad buys!
Not about us!
Regarding the issue of some methods of birth control being classified as abortificants. Glad to see Hillary is all over this. Seems like BO would be also since he is the politically correct candidate for women’s rights. Looks like he missed another chance to lead in the realm of women’s issues.
We have got to change the government so that old men on power trips don’t sit around making this sort of BS law. So I am wondering do they want all birth control pills to be illegal? Because women take hormone pills for many reasons. Would they be illegal for women who are not sexually active but need hormone correction or supplementation? Or would it just be illegal to have sex while on your hormone correction pills? Or maybe a whole class of illnesses afflicting only women should go untreated? Are there any male diseases that should not be treated. What about giving males hormones to stop some diseases if the side effect means their sperm count or viability is diminished?
Why being “on the ballot” is not enough
http://heidilipotpourri.blogspot.com/
#11 goDGS on 07.21.08 at 4:35 pm, WROTE,
[[ Unless the DNC rules have changed the pledged delegates must vote for their designated candidate, in the initial roll call. After the first vote, however, anything goes.
As we Hillary people know — the superdelegates may vote anyway that they wish in the initial roll call. ]]
Not exactly! Both pledged delegates as well as superdelegates can vote their conscience for the individual to whom they think is the most electable; or for the candidate they think can best beat the republican candidate in the fall.
And they have the right to change their mind, at anytime… It doesn’t have to be at the Convention floor.
They can do it NOW if they wanted to—but won’t.
Logic dictates: If they are all bound to endorse the candidate that won their state, then howbeit, they come out to endorse just days or sometimes hours before their state primary even happens. Case in point: Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. They came out and endorsed BHO a few days before the Massachucettes vote…but she ended up wining that state and by a large margin.
So if the party rules insisted upon them pledging to her, they have not done it and will not.
Basically, you can throw the word “pledge” out the window and substitute it for the word, “endorse” … it is meaningless and no-binding!
489..i think we already did that one…we do so many i can’t remember…lol
If you haven’t already, please sign the letter to Dean demanding that Hillary’s name be placed in nomination and a roll-call vote be held. The letter was drafted by Heidi Li Feldman and Marc Rubin.
Re: sore losers~ lol…
First, barring some HUGE Obama scandal, there’s no way the superdelegates would switch now to Hillary. Think about it, how would the DNC expect a Dem victory in November if they take the nomination away from him now, when he had the lead in pledged delegates? Do you think Barack’s supporters would vote for Hillary if the superdelegates did that? Neither Barack nor Hillary can win without the other’s supporters.
I hear a lot of PUMAs complain that the DNC rules were unfair. MI and FL illegally moved their primaries before Super Tuesday. The DNC only wanted SC, NV, IA, and NH held before then. The DNC warned MI and FL to move the primaries back to their original date. When they didn’t the DNC punished MI and FL by stripping their delegates. All the Dem candidates, INCLUDING HILLARY, signed a pledge of agreement last September and vowed not to campaign in those states. Hillary said last fall that MI and FL elections would not count.
Rules are rules. If Hillary felt MI and FL were being disenfranchised, why didn’t she speak up last September? Why did she sign the pledge? Why did her camapign manager, Harold Ickes, vote to have FL delegates stripped? Because last fall, Hillary was leading Barack by 20+ points in the polls. She arrogantly thought she would secure the nomination on Super Tuesday by winning the big states. She didn’t think she’d need MI and FL’s delegates. She barely had operations set up in the caucus states, and she had no plan after Super Tuesday.
Barack was able to build his insurmountable lead in delegates by winning all the contests in the 3 weeks after Super Tuesday. If Hillary and her strategists had planned for a long Dem race and not blown off the caucuses (except NV), she probably would’ve won.
It wasn’t until January, when Barack started winning, and became a real threat, did she complain about MI and FL. Like all the other major Dem candidates, except Hillary of course, Barack took his name off the ballot in MI. And again I repeat, Hillary stated last fall that MI WOULD NOT COUNT! You can’t change the rules in the middle of a game because you’re not winning.
The DNC rules state that the candidate with 2025 delegates gets the nomination. At the end of the primaries/caucuses, Obama had the lead in pledged delegates, so the superdelegates sided with him.
Obama won fair and square. If the DNC had balls they would’ve stuck to their word and not given MI and FL any delegates. But instead the Rules Committee allowed Hillary to net more delegates than Obama from the 2 states, even though Barack’s name wasn’t on the ballot in MI, and he and Hillary didn’t campaign in FL. Hillary netted more delegates from FL than she did from OH and PA COMBINED!
Barack beat Hillary fair and square, and you and all your PUMA friends are sore losers. You’re calling Obama inexperienced and a moron?! If the manner in which candidates run their campaign is any indication of how good a President they’ll be, then I’m so glad Obama won the Dem nomination. Hillary had problems with her message/strategy. Her campaign went broke TWICE. How can she run our economy, if she can’t manage her own campaign’s finances?!
I’m a Barack supporter. I focus on candidate’s positions on the issues. If Hillary had the lead in pledged delegates, and she got the nomination, I’d have held my nose and voted for her because her positions on the issues are so similar to Barack’s.
Hillary wants universal healthcare, withdrawal from Iraq, a fairer tax plan that cuts taxes for middle class, and raises them on the rich. Obama supports those positions. McCain opposes those positions. And this is the man many of you PUMAS are going to vote for?!
Barack seems like a decent guy. Hillary was WAY more negative to him than he was to her during the campaign (“Kitchen Sink Strategy” ring a bell?). This is such an important election. Why would you help McCain win so he can continue Bush’s failed policies? If you and your fellow PUMAS cause Obama to lose, Hillary will be blamed. And in 2012, many Obama supporters will vote against Hillary if she’s the Dem nominee.
If you’re and Democrat and you truly care about your country, you’d vote for the candidate who’s going to support the Democratic party positions.
Have a nice day!
So sorry to hear of your loss bmw60, thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
At work I can read the blog but I can’t comment. So regarding the talk this morning of BOs birth certificate being faked…..I think we can count on the Republicans to demand proof of BO conforming to the presidential qualifications law but not until he is formally nominated as the Democrat candidate. Also I would guess if it was an easy thing to clear up BO would simply do what ever it took to clear the situation up immediately. Wouldn’t you? Really once the convention is over the Republicans are going to start playing boys rules politics. Unfortunately for the Dems Hillary was the candidate most qualified to play boys rules politics.
The Audacity of Ego – “but that’s enough about me”
2. The audacity of ego By Joan Vennochi, Globe Columnist | July 20, 2008
JUST LIKE the Obama girl, Obama has a crush on Obama.
Barack Obama always was a larger-than-life candidate with a healthy ego. Now he’s turning into the A-Rod of politics. It’s all about him.
He’s giving his opponent something other than issues to attack him on: narcissism.
A convention hall isn’t good enough for the presumptive Democratic nominee. He plans to deliver his acceptance speech in the 75,000 seat stadium where the Denver Broncos play. Before a vote is cast, he’s embarking on a foreign policy tour that will use cheering Europeans – and America’s top news anchors – as extras in his campaign. What do you expect from a candidate who already auditioned a quasi-presidential seal with the Latin inscription, “Vero possumus” – “Yes, we can”?
Obama finds criticism of his wife “infuriating” and doesn’t want either of them to be the target of satire. Tell that to the Carters, the Reagans, the Clintons, and the Bushes, father and son.
There’s no such thing as a humble politician. But when Obama looks into the mirror, he doesn’t just see a president; he sees JFK.
In 1960, John F. Kennedy accepted his party’s nomination with an outdoor speech at the Los Angeles Coliseum. But he waited until he was elected before going to Germany to declare “Ich bin ein Berliner.”
The fashionistas have already noted Michelle Obama’s affinity for chanelling Jackie. And it’s hard to watch the Obama daughters “Access Hollywood” interview and not think about Caroline and John F. Kennedy Jr. back in the days of Camelot.
So far, Dad is only promising to get the kids a dog, not a pony named Macaroni…
But McCain has one thing going for him: the appearance of modesty…But with McCain, there’s also the sense of a man who made mistakes in life and acknowledges them.
McCain’s humility comes through in his book, “Faith of my Fathers,” which he wrote at age 63, after completing a career in the US Navy and moving onto politics. Obama wrote the more self-reverential “Dreams from My Father,” after he was elected president of the Harvard Law Review.
…When the Obama Girl video first surfaced, Obama told the Associated Press, “You do wish people would think about what impact their actions have on kids and families.”
That’s good advice. He should think more about the impact of his ego on voters. A presidential candidate is supposed to get bigger on the national stage. That doesn’t mean his head should, too.
OK. late afternoon I learned about the “plane change of our US flag for Obama’s”.
I got shocked that I had to decompressed.
But I’m determined to get this guy down.
Murphy you got mail..
Like we needed another reason that Hillary should be President – but here t’is.
1. AN EXAMPLE OF WHY SHE SHOULD BE PRESIDENT
HILLARY CLINTON An Outrageous Attempt by the Bush Administration to Undermine Women’s Rights
The Bush administration is up to its old tricks again, quietly putting ideology before science and women’s health. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is poised to put in place new barriers to accessing common forms of contraception like birth control pills, emergency contraception and IUDs by labeling them “abortion.” These proposed regulations set to be released next week will allow healthcare providers to refuse to provide contraception to women who need it. We can’t let them get away with this underhanded move to undermine women’s health and that’s why I am sounding the alarm.
These rules pose a serious threat to providers and uninsured and low-income Americans seeking care. They could prevent providers of federally-funded family planning services, like Medicaid and Title X, from guaranteeing their patients access to the full range of comprehensive family planning services. They’ll also build significant barriers to counseling, education, contraception and preventive health services for those who need it most: low-income and uninsured women and men.
The regulations could even invalidate state laws that currently ensure access to contraception for many Americans. In fact, they describe New York and California’s laws requiring prescription drug insurance plans to provide coverage for contraceptives as part of “the problem.” These rules would even interfere with New York State law that ensures survivors of sexual assault and rape receive emergency contraception in hospital emergency rooms.
We’ve seen this kind of ideologically driven move from the Bush administration before. Senator Patty Murray and I went toe to toe with the Bush administration to demand a decision on Plan B by the FDA. We won that fight and we need to win this one too.
When I learned about these proposed rules, I immediately joined with Senator Murray to call on the Bush administration to stop these dangerous plans. I am joining with New York family planning and healthcare advocates to spread the word. Now is the time to raise our voices. I will continue to press HHS and I hope you will join me. I have posted information on how to get involved here.
3. WHERE”S THE SEAL??? Warning – this is NOT a SATIRE:
Obama debuts new campaign plane (The Swamp, Chicago Tribune)
The president arrives in foreign countries aboard Air Force One with the words “United States of America” emblazoned across the fuselage. Well, presidential candidate Barack Obama debuts on the international stage with a newly reconfigured campaign plane with its own distinctive message painted across it, “Change We Can Believe In.” On the tail, instead of the American flag on the presidential plane, is the rising-sun logo of the Obama campaign.
Well, no picture but you get the idea.
I agree. One of HRC’s many skills is that of a tactician.
I am sure she has a plan B, C & D.
Besides,say she wins in 2008, she will still need $ for her re-election campaign in 2012.
Senator Obama negatives are on the rise. A tipping point can occur and our actions our helping.
I did not write this….but Wow!!!!! Wish I could take the credit…..good to share the facts with you all.
6. Open Letter to Don Fowler and Alice Germond of the Democratic National Committee
Dear Ms. Germond and Mr. Fowler,
I have read your very recent letter. I must confess, I had difficulty reading it, because it was one of the most offensive things I have ever seen in my life. You say that you have become fatigued and irritated at people who will not “accept the results of the primary,” and who “continue to carp and complain.” You analogize what happened in this election to the Celtics beating the Lakers in the NBA Finals; and say that the Lakers don’t complain about that result, so neither should we complain about this one. You demand that all Democrats give their absolute and unqualified support to Barack Obama.D
So how can I try to calmly tell you what I think about your letter? Let’s start with the fact that the Celtics-Lakers playoffs were not fixed–at least,not that we know of.. So why wouldn’t the Lakers accept the results? Fair games, fair rules–we Americans believe in fair play, and we almost all can be fair winners as well as gracious losers. But we abhor cheating; we hate fixes and shady deals. This is not some foreign country where corruption and the selling out of the average person is accepted as the way things have been for millennia. This country believes in fair play; it’s ingrained in our character. That’s why the U.S. Olympic team has never accepted its silver medal at the 1972 Olympics, when the referees gave the Russians two additional bogus chances to win the game. That’s why Rosie Ruiz was disqualified from the Boston Marathon. That’s why George Brett was suspended for using a corked bat; why people don’t want Barry Bonds to make the Hall of Fame. They all cheated, and so we don’t accept it; we don’t blithely ignore it and “come together.”
And what you people at the DNC did was worse than anything that the aforementioned ever did. What you did was to engineer a process which went against every dictate of our democracy, which is all about one person, one vote. Take that principle away, and there is not much left of what our country has stood for. I’ll say that phrase again, because in your eagerness for power or personal victory, you have obviously forgotten it. One person, one vote. No one’s vote counts any more that anyone else’s. Yes, we know about the electoral college, and how a voter in Wyoming has more electoral power than one in California, because of the artifact that each state gets two Senators and hence at least three electoral votes. But no voter in Wyoming or California or any other state gets more voting power than any other voter in his or her state. A voter in San Francisco doesn’t have more votes than one in San Diego or Bakersfield. A White person doesn’t have more voting power than a Black or Latino person. A man doesn’t have more than a woman. We all know that it wasn’t always that way. But finally, we fixed all of that, and made it right.. And many thousands of people lost their lives in the struggle. The modern Democratic Party was at the forefront of those battles. I guess you have forgotten that; or perhaps your ethics are selective…
But let’s go on, because that’s not half of what you people did. You set up a system where many states were encouraged to hold caucuses, the most undemocratic form of election this country has ever seen. I guess you either don’t know or don’t care what went on in those caucuses. The older, mostly less aggressive Clinton supporters were locked out, tricked, had their documents stolen or thrown away by the Obama supporters. It was all documented, in thousands of allegations and complaints filed by the Clinton campaign, all of which you cavalierly ignored, as if you were police officers in old Chicago who turned their heads while people were being mugged or shot. As a result of these ridiculous caucuses, Senator Obama won some states with 70% of the vote, far more than he would have possibly gotten had there been a primary. In one state, Texas, 2 million people voted by day, and Senator Clinton won by 100,000 votes. At night, in caucuses, Obama managed to get all those delegates and more back. In another state, Washington, Obama got 68% of the caucus “vote,” while in a primary held two weeks later, with far more people voting, he got only 52% of the vote. But of course you will say that caucuses are part of the “rules” you are so proud of, so that’s the way it goes, you Democratic voter suckers.
So then, let’s go on. You disenfranchised all the voters in Florida and Michigan, because it suited the needs of some of your members who desperately wanted Obama to win, and knew that Clinton would easily win those two states. You didn’t disenfranchise other states which also moved up their primary, because Clinton wasn’t going to win those by any margin, or at all. And then you sat and did nothing, while we were all pleading with you to have a revote, to do something to avoid the train wreck which was looming. And you did nothing, allowed Obama to stonewall and avoid any revote which he knew he would lose. And then came the grand finale, your coup de grace in this disgraceful spectacle, the Rules Committee meeting on May 31.
Well, we all know what you did there. You gave Florida half its delegates. You did that because you knew that it wasn’t enough to help Senator Clinton win the nomination. It is obvious that if it were, you wouldn’t have given out any delegates, as Donna Brazile had originally demanded.
And then you came to Michigan. You had a little problem there, because Obama had taken his name off the ballot, by his own choosing, so as to try to mute Clinton’s upcoming victory there. But that didn’t stop you from giving him every uncommitted delegate who was selected. This was despite the fact that many Uncommitted voters voted for someone other than Obama; some voted Uncommitted as a protest against the DNC’s attempt to disenfranchise the state. No matter; you decided he should get all of them, even though not one voter in the state of Michigan actually cast a vote for Obama. I will remember that, should I ever decide to run for office: if I can get my name off the ballot on time, the DNC will give me delegates anyway.
But that still wasn’t enough for you, was it? You decided to actually take four delegates away from Clinton and give them to Obama. Is it that you had become so drunk with power that you thought that like Lewis Carroll’s Humpty Dumpty, words like “fairness” and “democracy” meant anything that you decided they should mean? Was it that you were afraid that if Obama didn’t get a few more votes and Clinton a few less, you could not engineer the fix that you had intended from the start? Whatever the reason, you did something which to my knowledge had never before been done in American political history; you took votes from one candidate and willfully gave them to another. And then you stood up there and acted proud of yourselves, like so many strutting peacock fascists that we have seen in other countries, who do such actions as a matter of course.
And now that you have gamed and cheated your way to the result that your leader Howard Dean and most of his subordinates had always intended from the outset, you have the absolute gall to act affronted that people won’t fall in line like the sheep which you apparently were sure they were. You demand that people stop complaining, and say that they should gladly support the Glorious Leader which you have chosen for them. In other words, you say that we should stop acting like true Americans, the kind of people who made this country what it was; and turn into the kind of people who put up with and even supported, the likes of Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo, a few short decades ago. Well, we can’t stop you from thinking or demanding what you will; but spare us your sanctimonious self-righteousness.
You want us to support Obama because you wanted him nominated and elected in the first place, and were willing to break every sacred American principle to get him there. You want to win, to gain the power and perquisites which come from winning. We, on the other hand, wanted only fair play and a just result. We were callously denied it by your DNC. And so it is easy for us to know the right thing to do now, which is to scorn your high-handed letters with their pleas disguised as threats. The hell with all of you. We are Americans first and above all; and we do not accept or support a Party which so obviously no longer believes in the sacred American principle of fair elections and equal voting rights.
165 Londontown on 07.21.08 at 6:27 pm
I think Clinton has accepted she will not be the DEM nominee this year but she expects a McCain win in Nov and she will run again in 2012. Clinton does not want to be blamed for dividing the party, so she will not put her name forward for nomination at the convention.
*****************
Is anyone else feeling this way? I sure hope that is not true.
Hey All,
Catching up with the posts, and reading all the emails — I will respond.
a VERY interesting phone call this evening.
Please trust me when I say, KEEP SENDING THE PROWLS. We ARE being heard.
I will never falsely raise people’s hopes. I have NO idea what is going to happen at the convention. I would NEVER try to raise people’s hopes to believe that a miracle is going to happen.
But I DO know that our letters and faxes are being noticed. I DO know that I am telling interested parties who call me that we are NOT going to be quiet. We know that we are merely a very large group of voters. We are not the decision makers. But we are watching and we know what we will do if the decision makers ignore us. We will NOT support a selected nominee. We CANNOT stop making our intentions known LOUD and CLEAR.
“DNC Chairman Governor Howard Dean acts as the Temporary Chair of the 2008 Convention and will call the Convention to order on Monday. The first item of formal business for the Convention to act on is the report of the Credentials Committee, which will resolve all questions concerning the seating of delegates. The second item of business is the report of the Rules Committee. Among its many responsibilities, the Rules Committee will recommend the permanent Convention officers. At past Conventions, the keynote address has typically been on Monday evenings.”
[[ What is an unpledged delegate, a super delegate?]
Pledge delegates:
Determined by popular vote from primaries and caucuses.
Superdelegates:
“The Democratic Party rules do not use the term “superdelegate”. This article follows the most common media practice in using the term “superdelegate” to refer to unpledged delegates, who fall into two categories:
* delegates seated based on other positions they hold, who are formally described (in Rule 9.A) as “unpledged party leader and elected official delegates”[1] (unpledged PLEO delegates); and
* additional unpledged delegates selected by each state party (in a fixed predetermined number), who are formally described (in Rule 9.B) as “unpledged add-on delegates” and who need not hold any party or elected position before their selection as delegates.[1] ”
Source, Wikipedia
Unpledged Delegates:
Those who have not endorsed a candidate yet.
Note: There is virtually no real difference between the term delegate and/or superdelegate, but the media has opted to call the party elites superdelegates.
Note: To my knowledge, superdelegates are normally unpledged delegates, they casting their vote at the Convention only, but this year, Howard Dean pressured them into coming out early, and in my opinion to save face for his stupid blunder in not seating Florida and Michigan, because without those two states, neither candidate could have reached the number needed to gain the majority to actually WIN the Primary’s.
“Grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference” –
And some further good news on polling:*******Rasmussen: Obama 42%; McCain 41%.
“That’s the lowest level of support measured for Obama since he clinched the Democratic Presidential nomination on June 3. Obama’s support peaked at 48% with data released on June 8, 9, and 10. During that same time frame, McCain’s support has remained steady in the 40% to 42% range. McCain is viewed favorably by 57% of voters, Obama by 53%.*********
There has to be a plan that we are unaware of – But I agree, no VP for me- no way can I see that man in the White House. Also, Maryland Puma, thought of two more examples of outrageous behavior on BO’s part -
one, he was talking to a group of people about contraception and abortion, etc. and he said, that if he daughters were to get pregnant, he wouldn’t want to see them “punished with a baby”….That was one. The other, ofcourse, was the infamous “sweetie” remark.
He doesn’t think before he speaks – and I’m doubting that he can think without a teleprompter! ugh…
COMPARISON
THE FALLACY THAT JFK HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE AS OBAMA WHEN HE RAN FOR
PRESIDENT COMPARISON OF EXPERIENCE PRIOR TO RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT BETWEEN
KENNEDY AND OBAMA:
JFK served in the military in WWII and was a commander of PT boat
109.
Obama has no military experience
JFK served for 6 years in the US House of Representatives and 7 years
in the US Senate. He became President during his 2nd term in the
Senate – total in national politics: 13 years
Obama was a 2 term legislator in the Illinois State legislature and
served in the US senate for 2 years when he began his campaign for
President.- total in national politics – 3 years
JFK grew up as a son of an Ambassador; traveled extensively, and was
surrounded by politics all of his life.
Obama had no exposure to politics or world affairs until he arrived
in Chicago
We know how JFK performed under pressure – he won the Purple Heart
for bravery.
Do we have anything we can point to that tells how Obama would
perform under extreme pressure?
[[Bottom line, the convention is a cr@p shoot.]]
For me, the bottom line is,
Howard Dean and probably Obama and his team, put out the word, that the Clintons (plural) were not to be trusted and that they would someone steal the election in some smoke-filled back room deal at the convention if the Supers did not come out early.
I do not know who was behind this sort of thing, but I do remember one idiot promoting that false notion… well, maybe two:
Dick Morris of FoxNews
Donna Brazille of CNN
Note: Many of you have repeatedly said that Donna said that if any deals were made she would leave the party… but *my* memory of that was her saying only, that if a deal were made AT THE CONVENTION, she would leave the party.
Fact remains, the deal was made right in front of us and in plain view. And the only one I ever heard make mention of this outrage was Lou Dobbs. He might have even have mentioned something the day after I sent him an email on the topic…. but not really sure.
#575 Bruce55555
IMP…
Senator Clinton has not released her delegates. I don’t thnk President Clinton will want Senator Clinton let remove herself for and her donors and supporters will push her to be nominated. She can always say no if she is nominatied. She has 1500 + delegaes that will more than cover her required signatures for her to put on roll call for the nomination.
Senator Clinton is already preparing for a 2012 campaign. So she must believe that Senator McCain will win or *61 will not make a good POTUS. McCain has said he will only be a one term President but if you are the incumbent, you often have a big advantage for your second four years. Thus, my conclusions.
Okay, now I’m really going to bed. Not venturing into chat room – to scary for me! lol -good night all.
I don’t think it’s up to Hillary to place her name in nomination. I believe that someone else must nominate her and that she must accept the nomination. The nomination must be accompanied by a petition with signatures representing not less than 300 votes. (I think it’s worded that way because the Florida and Michigan delegate votes count for only half.)
I hope everyone has a goodnights sleep~ I am headed to the forum for a bit~ sweet dreams all~ goodnight!
#593 goandersen — thanks for the comic relief. I have never been to that site before. The t-shirts were hilarious.
#594 Trish — not many over on chat either
#596 SouthJersey–I hope you are right about that. I would hope that Hillary would let someone know, but I think it is against the rules of a PAC to have any contact at all with the candidates.
Is there a moderator here?
Murphy, Mamapuma, anyone -
Did not read all past post tonight cause I only have a little while to be on here right now and wanted to do the growl…but can someone please tell why in the wording of the letter is says
“Nominate Hillary for a REAL VOTE in Denver. Otherwise the members of Puma PAC will NOT support the illegitimate nominee.” ?
I will not vote for the Chosen One in any way shape or form. I will not vote for a joint ticket with HRC as VP, I will only vote for Hillary Clinton for President with a VP of her choice but NO Chosen One, or I am voting McCain
Would really like a reply cause I do not fee comfortable sending this letter since I do or would not support that statement and ONLY that statement part of the letter.
Did my prowl. My puma mail went to spam on gmail. Is someone at Google helping his highness again?
#601 Firebelle — I guess then I am hoping that she will accept the nomination. It would be heartbreaking to all of us if she didn’t.
BelleCat… you have mail
sent my prowl out finally… been a busy little bee tonight!!!
I am praying that she doesn’t. If Obie gets in, his term will be a disaster, and I don’t want her to be a part of it. I want her clean of 12 or 16
Yes, Trish, very slow. I think I will logout now too. My growl for the day is completed and I look forward to tomorrow’s.
#612 virginia.puma
I beleive she will accept the nomination, she worked too hard to walk away from it. and I hope she sticks her foot out and trips Bo flat on his face when she wins the nomination in August.
1of18million #605. Puma PAC is Protesting the Election if the DNC forces Obama on us. Here’s the way it can play out in Denver:
1. DNC does NOT allow Hillary to be nominated and Obama is selected. RESULT? We do NOT vote for Obama in November.
2. DNC does allow Hillary to be nominated and she loses in the first round. Result? We do NOT vote for Obama in November (his nomination is STILL illegitimate because of FL, MI, and all the other shenanigans).
3. DNV does allow Hillary to be nominated and she WINS at the convention (miracle scenario). Result? We vote for Hillary Clinton in November and watch her win a landslide victory of epic proportion.
Hope this helps.
Anybody ?
#621 slyt2–I think President Clinton used the word–”support.” He did say, I think, that he would endorse the democratic nominee–but no names were mentioned. Open to correction if this is wrong.
#621 slyt2
Bill’s spokeperson said he will support Obama, I don’t think he said endorse
Ok I couldn’t remember thank you, that’s what I thought too.
#629 Jeremy
I guess it did.
I was wondering if someone could answer this, about 2 weeks ago I guess, seems longer but it could not hve been, someone mentioned the birth control pill RU488 or smething like that. Is that pill available in the US?
Mako: Hello and welcome.
The only anime I ever got into was the Slayers series…love Zelgadis.
Anyway, we hope you will get as many of your friends who are truly concerned for our country and feel that Hillary is our only hope to join the PUMA cause. We have daily prowls and growls where we write various leaders, media/press people, delegates, etc, stating our postion and urging them to do the right thing at the convention next month!
The more people in the movement the stronger our voice! PUMA is the last vestige of democracy in this country! Please be sure to register to the action alert and the site, aside from this blog. The links on the right of this page will direct you to those.
Well, that was fun, I was kicked off the blog with the error message “Database eror”
I was elsewhere for a few minutes and couldn’t get back in… had to detour via Riverdance’s link. That’ll teach me.
Dear BMW60…With deepest sympathies during this time. Take care..
#636 DancesWithPumas
That was how I got back in also
same here got a data error
Dances: First off, it’s not a ‘they’ it’s we. It’s PUMApac chat..as such, it’s for everyone here who wants to use it. Secondly, it doesn’t have hours..people have been there all day and night and most here didn’t come or dropped by and left. Several of us were there for many hours and just left about 20 ms ago as it was late and no new members were coming by. It’s not necessary to keep repeating how you don’t like it. I heard that twice from you last night. I mean, you can. It can be your new motto if you want, just..I donno. Seems redundant. I’m sorry we missed you? It’s still there, if you and any other pac’ers want to go and chat. I’ve been doing PUMA work for about 8 hours so far tonight though and am done for the evening.
Trish: I believe the RU pill is the ‘morning after pill’ which is basically a strong dose of birth control (higher levels of hormones) which is meant to be taken within 3 days of unprotected sex to prevent/end possible conception.
There is an actual ‘abortion pill’ availible in many states in America. It’s a form of metheltrexate which, up until the 12th week can be administered to induce miscarriage of the fetus. This is a FAR safer way to terminate a pregnancy, as it involves no surgery.
Hope that answers your questions.
I signed Hillary’s petition ~ It’s always great to read her words! Thanks for the previous blog.
I completed the PROWL.
Open invitation to quiet Pumas to pop their heads in and say hello. I get dozens of emails every day from non-blogging Pumas who have sent their PROWLS and Growls.
i know what the pill is. I was asking if it is available in the US.
#629 Jeremy
I was wondering what the heck???
Now it does seem funny.
#617 Murphy
Thank you for the reply. I understand your break down of it but that is not how I understand that sentence in the letter. I looked at a few earlier post and some others asked similar.
As I said I ONLY support Hillary I will not use the idea that I would support the Chosen One if Hillary gets a placed on the ballot for a real vote in Denver. It was just not necessary to have that last part of the sentence in the letter. JMHO
I will prob skip this growl. I have done all others but not comfortable with that wording. Although we understand it I do not trust the “mentality” of others that may get it or try to spin it.
NO The Chosen One AT ALL!
640 Kerri
Oy.
I’ve been looking for Cosmeta…
I though she was in HER chatroom ( different form “our” chatroom) … I was frustrated because she is usually around, and therefore the comment about officially not liking the chat thing.
This is the play on “his” visit—not impressive with the Iraquis. I will give the link on next post
While Obama’s trip has been getting saturation media coverage in the U.S., however, the Iraqi media has barely batted an eye. Obama’s visit got only a vague mention on the local TV networks’ afternoon news hours, and it failed to make the front page on any of Iraq’s top newspapers. Only in Al-Dustour did an article make reference to the visit, quoting Iraqi politician (and former Bush Administration favorite) Ahmad Chalabi as saying: “Obama wants to prove that he’s qualified enough to be Commander in Chief.”
Trish, RU-486 is available in the US. It’s not spoken of much, so as not to upset certain types of activism. This is a relationship of a woman and her Dr. to have to utilize this method to terminate a pregnancy.
SAD,SAD,SAD
Someoneplease, tell me whatever we are to do. Our votes were manipulated against us in 2000, again in 2004, again in the recent primaries, and no matter how much we howl, complain, protest, or whine, it doesn’t change anything and we are left with the poopy end of the stick.
It feels like we are now living in Nazi America. Odumba acts far more like a dictator than a president and his BS rhetoric has captured the attention and sympathies of the world.
In my life I have learned to believe in and to expect miracles and I am expecting a huge one now. Hillary is SOOO obviously the ‘middle road’ between Obama and McCain.
Yes, we have a racial divide and a gender divide in our country and, to be fair and eqitable, we should have a black president. We should have a female president. We should have a Hispanic president, an Asian president and for damn sure a NATIVE AMERICAN president.
But the truth is that we have far more pressing problems to resolve. Our country is engaged in a struggle for our very survival. China holds a great deal of our paper. As do other countries, and who also own much property here.
If China stopped exporting goods to America, we soon would nopt have anything. Nothing is ‘made in america’ anymore. Not even Obama.
I have asked my guardian angel, Michael, the Archangel, for divine intervention. I ask my native Great Creator Spirit to intervene. It seems that the black american population doesn’t care a whit about our problems, only that they see thwir first black president and believe, if he is elected, they can take over the country. The Hispanics are saying, “Oh, hell, no!!!” And all the rest of us.
Something HAS to happen because we already know that even if Hillary’s name IS placed into nomination, the votes will just be manipulated again.
For once, maybe GWB will step up and order an attack on Iran, or maybe Mother Nature will strike once again on a catastrophic scale, either one of which would demand keeping the staus quo. I hope not. I hope for something more peaceful.
I hate to be pessimistic, but perhaps it’s time to just bend over and kiss my ass good-bye. And my country.
How very sad.
#669 Maryland PUMA–thanks–question has been answered. It had to do with one of the PM’s positions. Thanks for the info.
The more I think about it, the more I think McCain naming his VP is a smart idea. Besides taking a lot of the media attention away from BO, it would be a boost to McCain’s campaign. If he is ready to announce his VP this early, my guess is it will be Mitt. Mitt is the one who has been seen with McCain the most.
Never hesitate to write your own letters, my friend. I almost always write my own letters and emails versus use someone else’s template. I think our collective voices have more impact when we’re each able to articulate different points and present a fuller picture of why we support Hillary and won’t support Obama.
Wow MountainSong
Giving up and giving in is not the spirit of true Hillary R. Clinton supporters.
Did she want to throw in the towel when it seemed hopeless, when the media was so outrageous against her, did she walk away? No Way, No How, she stay and fought until they, the DNC, the RBC, the super delegates et al, took the nomination away from her.
But we still have Denver; we still have the right to demand her name be place in Nomination.
And if all that does not work out, we still have our votes the strongest voices we will ever have.
So think like Hillary, Mountain Song and start singing your mountain song about the Phoenix and how it never dies but changes and rises to live and fight another day… Our Battle Cry is DENVER, DENVER, DENVER…
And our last stance will be OUR VOTES, OUR VOTES, OUR VOTES…
This is brilliant. Maybe Obama will piss off Bush and his allies enough that they’ll come out swinging. There are too many people (on both sides of the aisle) with a lot at stake, too much for this interloper to usurp control of the Iraq war strategy now.
I don’t boycott CNN because a few of the night news guys try to be fair, try is the operative word. Were as on MSNBC, where I used to love Keith Oberman, I can not even look at him any more. I can’t stomach most of Fox news, so CNN is one of the few I can get some news. Seems like over the past couple of weeks CNN is starting to see the light and reporting on if the media treats others unfairly, like Hillary while he is adored by most liberal news shows.
Thank you.
[[ Are they afraid of putting her name on the ballot because they may be losing ground or that they can’t control the outcome now? ]]
Besides the money involved and Howard Dean not being able to save face, the reason they dont want her name on the ballot, in my opinion is this:
- Any controvery at the convention itself, might mean a defeat of either candidate should win.
- They are being held HOSTAGE by the threat of black racial riots by BHO supporters!
http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/stories/2008/06/16/daily10.html
Also go to,
http://people.howstuffworks.com
And do a search for Conventions. You will find that in 1968, when the Convention was held in Chicago under the governorship of guess who, Richard M Daley, there was massive riots that practically destroyed the convention process; if not the city itself.
Those were figures from June. Our push to retire Hillary’s debt was first and second weeks of July. Those sums haven’t been released as yet.
What Hillary contributed from her own funds will not be reclaimed.
Don’t be disheartened.
There had been some confusion as to which link to make donations at to reduce debt. The one link was for 2012 senate race.
I don’t think Will Bower mislead anyone.
From the article referenced above …
Well, surely, Senator Clinton appreciates these groups’ efforts on her behalf, right?
We oppose any effort that doesn’t support a Democratic victory in the fall, including PUMA.
Ouch! In my talks with various PUMA leaders, many of them have said, “Well, Hillary hasn’t told me to stop.” Well, she has now.
***************************
Hotsky, look carefully at the wording … “We oppose any effort that doesn’t support a Democratic victory in the fall.”
This says nothing about opposing an effort aimed at having Hillary nominated at the convention.
It’s the “unity game.” Hillary must appear to support Obama. She’s not trying to stop our efforts in the meantime. Don’t panic.
Exactly! Only designated members of the President’s cabinet are allowed to discuss future policy with foreign heads of State. I wonder if Bush is going to pull the rug out from BO’s campaign promises, er, uh, em, false promises, and start withdrawing troops.
I wish fox would show what he did to his plane and rip him apart over it
Correct me if I’m wrong.
That would be cool
#724 BillieJo–Anderson Cooper, a Republican? I can’t say that it is untrue. I will say, in my opinion, it is hard to believe. I have heard opposite and he was one of the first to say on CNN that the Jeremiah Wright thing was basically a set up and even questioned to the camera–”I don’t even know why we are having to talk about this.” That is when I cut it off. Clarify for me what you mean by saying “but it seems like he is fighting himself to be more fare of Obama vs McCain.” Curious.
And one’s mind tends to (wonder) at the propects of actually changing anything. But I look to Murphy especially, along with many other here, to keep me focused and inspired. And keep reminding myself just how BIG this cause is. No matter what the outcome, I will always know I did my part to change a corrupt process. And worked to take back Democracy, and my country. I believe that the masses “will” come out, and our voices “will” be heard on a louder level than they are hearing us now. We have to keep moving. We have to keep fighting. We have to keep the faith.
I know, same old question, but with a different player.
Sometimes when I get really discouraged, I think that if the worst comes to pass and Hillary is not our nominee, it must mean that the Universe has something better planned for her.
MOUNTAINSONG………..I understand..It happens to me all the damn time….
Go to Greta blog its open tonight
Greta,
I’ve seen everything, but Senator Obama’s arrogance is astounding! He spent $300,000 and painted over the “American Flag” with his logo that looks like a road for him to ride his bus over the American people. He painted over “The United States of America” with “shame we can believe in” – opps couldn’t resist. You know his slogan. And Michelle says let’s be honest, “WE” (she doesn’t qualify, that’s not being honest) get a check for $600 and it will only buy us a pair of earrings??? Talk about being out of touch with average Americans, then her husband wants to give us $300 to help with fuel prices – I guess he doesn’t want to leave out the people that only wear one earring??
Talk about plain stupidity, Obama thinks there are 57, no 58 states, talked to Petraeus and confused IRAQ with IRAN, needs a brigade of 300 people to advise him, and wiped his website clean of his poor judgment about the surge not working and his lack of giving our troops credit for any progress.
Then we find out his inspirational speeches are being written by hired speechwriters, “Yes we can” comes from the United Farm Workers, “Fired up, Ready to go!” is taken from the NAACP in SC used by Jondelle Harris in civil rights marches. “We’re the ones we’ve been waiting for” is a hopi indian saying used by Alice Walker and also used in feminist books recommended by Oprah, “Together we can” is a Deval Patrick slogan,”The fierce urgency of now” taken from Martin Luther King, he has a speech writer that reads Kennedy, King, FDR speeches,Talk about a phoney, none of his words are his own!!! If you ask a legitimate question he responds its “just a distraction” from the issues or nonsense about what problem his answering a question won’t solve…he appears to be trying not to say anything about the issues. His speeches and words are carefully crafted, but when he tries to talk on his own, he can’t debate, and he looks like he doesn’t know what he’s talking about and looking for “slick” things to say.
Apparently he has no foreign policy, it takes 300 people to think of things for him to say…He wants more soldiers in Afghanistan (2 brigades) is he thinking of bringing the draft back? And to top it off he was refused the wall in Germany because of the PUMAS writing to officials there and now he is speaking in front of HITLERS VICTORY PILLARS?? France,Austria, and Demark will be happy. This is where Hitler declared victory over them! He has abandoned all PRINCIPLE IN ORDER TO WIN! Flip flop flip flop too many to count. He would be general Betrayus in the flesh as commander in cheif….America this is not Change..this is the 3rd term Bush, it’s all about Obama and he won’t admit when he’s wrong or apologize, Aren’t we trying to get Bush out of the whitehouse, why would we vote his clone back in????
=^..^=
it seems Obama has so many layers of “teflon”..so far the only thing that has really hurt him has been the Rev Wright and Michelle hate talk stuff….
We are dealing in a situation here where so many of the American people do not understand or care about the issues….it’s all about IMAGE and PERCEPTION…it’s all about OBAMA too the legions of kool-aid drinkers and that’s it..
that accounts for so much of the frustration we are feeling and reading in many posts here at PUMA..we are all very frustrated and angry..
it seems that the only thing that can stop Obama at this point will be Obama himself ..some new revelation information about his past or him making some really idiotic destructive mistake on the campaign trail..
we are truly dealing with a mania..obamamania..
where logic and rationality are thrown out the window..
welcome to the new america..
It has to be Hillary for president!
jrhed:
RE: “BO’s unfavorable ratings are now consistently higher than McCain. This is really not a good sign for a candidate who should easily have a 15 point lead over any Republican. You would think this would be a wake up call to the Supers.”
No Kidding! ;D
DWP~ “Gifted”. Now that one made me laugh outloud!!
OK…so
1) If Hillary had not set aside that money for the general, there would be no debt at all and she could have paid herself back in part
2) Hillary has more cash available for the general than Obama at this moment.
3) Wonder how much of that 2.5 million he spent in June was on the 757 redo.
4) Why did she set aside that much for the general early on?
If I can say this…I’m tired of reading between the lines in Hillary’s statements. I know there is a public positioin and there are private conversations.
I would work to the ends of the earth to get her elected, and at some point it’s time for her to be crystal clear. If she wants us to stop then make a call to someone in the pipeline and let us know to work toward 2012.
better late than never. RU 486 appears to still be a choice. I think perhaps the side effects turned out to be pretty heavy, so it became a more special case option. But who knows how much it is used, since this is between Dr. Patient and Pharmacist. I guess you’d have to research how much of the pill (which is made in China by the way) is dispensed in the USA. I had to put your two notes together side by side to see what you were talking about.
If our girl has a large sum of $ for the general election, does that mean money that could be used if she were nominated and won? If so, what would she use that for if she doesn’t want to get nominated? For the senate? To keep the $ out of precious and DNC hands?
Did not read all past post tonight cause I only have a little while to be on here right now and wanted to do the growl…but can someone please tell why in the wording of the letter is says
“Nominate Hillary for a REAL VOTE in Denver. Otherwise the members of Puma PAC will NOT support the illegitimate nominee.” ?
I will not vote for the Chosen One in any way shape or form. I will not vote for a joint ticket with HRC as VP, I will only vote for Hillary Clinton for President with a VP of her choice but NO Chosen One, or I am voting McCain
Would really like a reply cause I do not fee comfortable sending this letter since I do or would not support that statement and ONLY that statement part of the letter.
*********************************
Well the beauty of being a member of PumaPac is that we are asked to do only things that we feel right doing. If you do not feel good about sending out a letter with that statement then I do not see why you have to nor why you feel back about it.
Our main goal as I see it right now is to be Hillary’s name put In Nomination at the First Roll Call, at the Denver Convention.
And then I would believe each member will have to decide what they will do if she is not placed in nomination….
You sounded anxious, I think the last full moon is spooking everyone out a little… A lot of posts seem to be expressing fears and anxieties.
One of my favorite mantras is “That too will pass!”
hotsky, thanks for the advice. I stand by my statement. Allowing haters and spreaders of lies to undermine, distract, or harass our friends hurts our cause SO much more than a swear word does.
It does not hurt. It helps us when we stand up for each other. It helps us when we are not afraid to call out liars. It helps us when we are not afraid to be a little unpopular in the pursuit of our principles. I wish our so-called leaders would learn that.
I do not care what Christina or her minions call me. they can say I’m a republican til they’re blue in the face. I do care, however, when they make my members feel threatened. I do care when they try to sow dissent among us.
Hi BillieJo,
You probably didn’t see my post last night. It’s summertime, and like many I have vacation plans. Leaving for a week in Canada this weekend & will be computerless.
Hence, the sense of urgency others may not be there quite yet…
I figure I’d rather wait & see about travel arrangements and then figure out lodging. But maybe I should just get lodging figured out first…
Yes. WHEN he self-destructs (not if), this will be a major topic. I don’t understand why pathological narcissism isn’t being discussed among those who know it when they see it.
I didn’t read all of the posts tonight. Maybe you should nail down what you can for waiting to book a flight might be difficult later in Colorado with 75,000 people planned. I have heard that places there are sky high, so finding a place may be difficult the longer you wait. As far as riding a bus home to meet people…we don’t even know how many buses there will be or were they will go. You could ask Murphy about your town. If there is a bus going to were you live, then you know you would meet PUMAs on it. Also sounds like Denver will be making as much profit off of this as possible so the longer you wait the less you will have to choose from.
Wish I had more info but I am clueless too.
I take it back, this is where I signed up for lodging info:
But so far I haven’t heard anything back.
Meanwhile I went back to the Denver Group’s site & if you go look there, you’ll see there is no place jumps out at you with lodging or travel information.
What URL (DenverGroup) were you referring to, thanks.
883 hillstheone
when I was there a while back (3 weeks?) there was a link on the righthand side of the page… listing cabins nd rental rvs… 90 miles away.
There is a problem with convention protests though, that is the won’t let us anywhere near where the delegates are. It is so ridiculous. I am so angry. I am sick of this bs. Im sick of dean, reid, pelosi, brazile, clyburn, all of these people. I am just so mad.
[The whole structure of the narcissistic disorder reflects the prototypical relationship with frustrating primary objects (usually, the mother or main caregiver).
The narcissist's "mother" is typically inconsistent and frustrating. She thus thwarts the narcissist's ability to trust others and to feel secure with them. By emotionally abandoning him, she fosters in him fears of being abandoned and the nagging sensation that the world is a dangerous, hostile, and unpredictable place. She becomes a negative, devaluing voice, which is duly incorporated in the narcissist's Superego.]
Howdy ya’ll.. just finished working and wanted to stick my head in here for a bit. I am wanting to come up with a good idea of a way to sort of “supplement” by bumper sticker.. I got the one from the DNC.. you know, it’s okay W, Dems will decide in 2008.. I had an idea for a bumper sticker with a picture of Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, and Nobama fishing.. fish underneath not taking the hook, and actually protected by a net that says PUMA.. and the caption reads.. Real Dems don’t just swallow the party line.
What do ya’ll think? Just brainstorming really.
alohapuma:
One other thing. Have you ever read much on mythology? There’s a great book called Gods in Everyman. Really great reading.
Anyway it’s also insightful because after reading it I realized that NY Governor – Spitzer guy – is almost 100% Zeus. That means he is just way too into power.
But these types of books are really great reading because they both help you to understand the individual and their drama and also to have compassion for that person. The books on the Goddesses are great, too.
BTW… did anyone watch the Hannity show tonight on FOX? Dick Morris was on and held up a button he bought that said NObama. It was very cool… the camera did a super duper close-up of the message on this button.
Well, I am done with Tommy Christopher. That guy gets worse and worse. This is my last comment and I do hope PUMA’s take heed.
Kerri1:39AMJul 22nd 2008
Tommy, just to let you know, PUMAs are no longer responding to your ridiculous rantings.
Anyone who is self-respecting has already joined PUMA. You post that PUMA made a fund drive for Senator Clinton starting July 4th and claim to have raised over 10 million dollars. Then you claim to have supposedly spoken to Clinton campaign officials, which I don’t believe for a second they’d have not written you off as we have, long ago. Thirdly you site findings of 2.7 million raised for the month of JUNE.
Right. Wait until August when they release the July numbers.
Either way, PUMA’s refrain from giving this man any more traffic.
Have a nice life being miserable, Tommy Christopher. Wish I could say it was nice conversing with you, but I’m not a liar.
Also, I think that Tom Abrahams last article about trolling was a hint to us PUMAS. Saying that our best bet is to NOT lend credence or traffic to the anti-puma sites. I really get this message when reading between the lines of his article from yesterday. So I agree with Murphy on this score. We up their traffic numbers and thereby increase their abilitiy to write more pieces on the subject in the future. By simply NOT going there and not responding we act to shut them down.
Lotts, you could get that bumpersticker message across without the graphics too
Goodnight all, hope there is more good news tomorrow.
I forgot to post this to you earlier. Well we shall have to continue this conversation another time & spare everyone who is doing what they’re supposed to, talk about politics.
Anyway what I wanted to say was, it was funny after I read the Goddesses book I would try to figure out women I was talking to & get pretty close.
Then when I read Gods in Everyman the same thing happened. I’d pass by men and a little voice would whisper “Apollo with Poseidon” or “Ares, definitely,” too funny. I realized like the Hephaestus profile because I like men who like their work.
Let’s figure out Hillary when we get together in Denver.
# 772 Hotsky – ON THE FEC REPORTS – Posted at the Link:
Tommy,
I think you need to make it clear in your article that the FEC numbers you are quoting are from when the PUMA movement was 3 weeks old. PUMApac formed when the Clinton Campaign was being suspended. Clinton was still incurring expences during the first week of June. The financial numbers you are quoting are from the June closing.
The major PUMA fundraising effort took place July 4 and the t-shirt contest winner announced July 10. Will Bowers estimates of the PUMAs contributions are valid and it should show up in the numbers released on August 20 for the July closing.
Where is Obama’s $52 Million? His net went up from $43 to $71 million (opensecrets.org). That looks like $28 million to me, but then, I’m not as “brilliant” as Obama
Just got this in my email…not ONE media covered ( that i know of )
…shameful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :
On the 150th anniversary of this event, Hillary spoke these words at Seneca Falls:
“‘We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men and women are created equal.’ It was the shout heard around the world, and if we listen, we can still hear its echoes today. We can hear it in the voices of women demanding their full civil and political rights anywhere in the world.
I’ve heard such voices and their echoes from women, around the world, from Belfast to Bosnia to Beijing, as they work to change the conditions for women and girls and improve their lives and the lives of their families.”
Ten years later, we honor Senator Hillary Clinton for standing up for women’s rights around the world, and we demand that the Democratic Party honor her, and the 88th anniversay of women’s suffrage at its convention next month.
#959 gojoyknocks I would have pressed for an answer. It looks like the press, Obambi and the DNC are trying to pretend Hillary doesn’t exist. The part about her having to want her name placed in nomination and then having pledged signatures may be the problem. Have the DNC rules changed since FDR? He apparently stuck to his guns and did sent out responsive telegrams to the ones being sent against him.
Nuremberg Redux and How a Stadium Rally Stops Dissent
Searching for answers for why Obama’s acceptance speech is suddenly being turned into a stadium rally for 75,000 people? Creeped out by the parallel to that other famous stadium party rally, the 1934 party rally at Nuremberg that was documented in “Triumph of the Will?”
Look no further. It’s your fault. As Steven Stark explains:
“Before the change, Obama was scheduled to give his speech in a hall half full of hardcore Hillary Clinton supporters who don’t particularly like him. So odds are that Obama was looking for a larger venue in which Clinton’s supporters would be only a small portion of the crowd.”
What are we to do about this? In all likelihood the Obama campaign is going to fly in volunteers from all over the country, put them up in hotels somewhere within 150 miles of Denver, administer loyalty oaths and then bus the supporters to the stadium.
In the short run, the best we can do is sign up to find out what b.s. screening method they are using to keep us out. So take part in the experiment and sign up for the so-called “open convention” mailing list. I know it will be pretty annoying to receive e-mails from BHO, but you can always opt out once we know what’s going on.
Here’s some indepth info on Obama. Also here, if you plug in the search engine, Brazile, Pelosi or who ever, you will see in depth info on them and you can begin to draw a correlation on why they want Obama. For instance, dod you know this about our little Pelosi:
“Pelosi’s political views are systemically intertwined with her decisively socialist affiliations. She has served on the executive committee of the Progressive Caucus, a socialist-leaning alliance that, until 1999, was hosted by the Democratic Socialists Of America.”
Typical clueless journalist comparing apples to oranges by quoting JSND $10 mil fundraising and then stating the figures for June, not July. Ignore them and maybe they’ll go away.
#371 Lorelai……Request was to reserve Hillary’s right to take the Convention ruling to the Election Commission for a hearing. (I think it was the Election Commission) At any rate she reserved the right to fight the DNC ruling in Denver. Yes, that is still on the table.
