Friday Night Poetry and Full Moon

To A STRANGER

by: Walt Whitman (1819-1892)

  •
PASSING stranger! you do not know how longingly I look upon you,
You must be he I was seeking, or she I was seeking, (it comes to me as of a dream,)
I have somewhere surely lived a life of joy with you,
All is recall’d as we flit by each other, fluid, affectionate, chaste, matured,
You grew up with me, were a boy with me or a girl with me,
I ate with you and slept with you, your body has become not yours only nor left my body mine only,
You give me the pleasure of your eyes, face, flesh, as we pass, you take of my beard, breast, hands, in return,
I am not to speak to you, I am to think of you when I sit alone or wake at night alone,
I am to wait, I do not doubt I am to meet you again,
I am to see to it that I do not lose you.

Remember Seneca Falls- The fight isn’t over yet.

If we don’t say something now then it’s just going to get worse.

Wrong is wrong and we need to speak up and be loud.

Even the media is starting to admit there are a lot of pissed off people b/c we’re not all blind of how things were “controlled”. Obama voted “yes” to FISA after campaigning that he would not take away people’s Constitution rights.

Hillary campaigned that she wouldn’t vote for it and guess what? She didn’t. Obama is a fraud. He has been right from the beginning. Now others are seeing this as well.

Thanks D I just posted this in the last thread, but hit enter at the same time you started a new thread, so I will post this again:

Thanks guys, for the warm welcome! T D will be on this Sunday. Will be fun and informative, transparency will be the topic. And of course Will, will be there too. We have a couple other guests that will be on as well. One fella who wrote a song for Pumas and Deb will be on to talk about the PUMA Conference in DC.

But really what makes the show fun is the listeners and callers. I do read the chat room! Many of you are very witty and funny!

And let’s not forget murphy’s 1st show, “Meet Me In Denver” tomorrow at 9pm eastern on the NoQ Radio Station. I know I won’t miss it.

I don’t know if murphy is taking calls, but be sure to call in if she is, don’t be afraid to ask anything….. ha ha ha

Thanks Again! It really is about everyone of us working toward the common goal and if we don’t stop we will make a huge difference.

My Dear PUMA, we can make it, we will pull through anything together. We’ve only just begun, we are so fresh! Yet there is a real array of energy against us. But if we stand on our democratic principles, our Bill of Rights, our responsibility to each other and our posterity, we can figure out anything from that starting point. The Basics. Our right to govern for ourselves and each other. I hope that out of this soon our early leaders emerge, to stand together for everyone who has no voice, and to give them their voice. We know what is right and what is wrong. Lets stand together and fix this. Lets get it done! Lets Roll.

I think it is generally understood that if someone asks for something in a busy room, and those present don’t have the info to give, they don’t respond, otherwise you’d have 50 people posting “I don’t have that information”.

The other thing is, often someone will quietly go off and researc the answer, and this may take longer than 1, 5, 10, 60, 280, 4500, minutes.

#10 maxgrader on 07.18.08 at 9:04 pm

So Murphy, you read Whitman. He’s sounds a lot better than Emerson, the comma guy. I think he hated using periods. Frustrates me no end.

#11 Lin4Hill on 07.18.08 at 9:05 pm

That has to be one of the loveliest pictures for a thread–just love it, and the poem as well-thanks to the creative mind who put it there.

———Is the media waking up from their stupor?
I think so. Tonight Lou Dobbs was smokin’ he was so furious at the ineptitude of the Democrats’ for selecting a nominee that has such little knowledge of the true depth of the Iraq War and other foreign affairs.–When you simply look at the fact of that and how much must be filled in by 300 or so advisors–some of whom do NOT know what they are talking about—it outlines a very big zero.

[[ Murphy

If you need an Action Center website…
I got skillz. ;) ]]

I have some very limited basic skills and would be willing to help.

- I know basic html coding
- I know how to upload/download thru FTP
- I have my own cuteFTP software
- I have my own website submission software for listing with search engines
- I have DreamWeaver software I am learning for web page building
- I know some graphic basics, creating, resizing, inserting codes etc.

I have basic WordPress skills
I have basic Forum skills

What I dont know is CSS but I could manage working with a template.

An action center can be place inside of this site, for example,

http://www.pumapac.org/action
http://www.pumapac.org/action/index.html
http://www.pumapac.org/action/2008-07-01_act.html
http://www.pumapac.org/action/2008-07-02_act.html
http://www.pumapac.org/action/2008-07-03_act.html
etc

Creating new directories and files through FTP is easy.

I just don’t want to do action letters… because my grammer is not good enough, and I make too many typos. Plus I really hate doing email. But if I can help in other areas would be willing to.

If you were looking for HRC’s email I did give you that but Im not sure which post it was. I can go find it again if you still need it. :)

#38 Kerri on 07.18.08 at 9:26 pm

Murphy: I posted downstairs but I don’t know if there was an answer or whatever. I’d like a growl that included sending thankyou/encouragement to HRC. We can surely tack this on to one of our daily actions, yes? Do we have a valid email addy for her?
Now that I’ve remembered to say that again, and I’ve pushed the grass-roots thing for my stomping grounds – NY, whoo-whoot! Okay, I really should go. I’ve been up for well over 24 hours just tirelessly eating/breathing PUMA and our crusade. Thank you all for bearing with me, as I’ve a feeling I may have been more than usually questionably coherent at times.
I realize I’m always offering generic offers of ‘help’ without saying what I’m capable of. Truthfully, I’ve never done any of this stuff and have not had to try my hand at much of what you ‘leaders’ do. However, I’m pretty competent, usually, and capable of learning and taking direction. Therefor, if you need a body/mind to do something, even on a somewhat regular basis, I’ll do my best for us all.
Gonna sign off now and listen to fox talk about th biased media coverage. Hope that they mention that it started with HRC long before Mccain. Oooh…”there’s no question that the networks are compeltely in Barack Obama’s camp.” I’m liking it!
Good night Puma’s, blessed be!

TOPIC: Tom (abc guy’s) coverage

OK I’m going to get it off my chest first so I can post more positive things after.

Frankly the blog about our site today was very disappointing! If anything it not only cast doubts on our groups sincerity and mission, it also would leave the average reader very confused about PUMA.

I say, move on to the next reporter, I don’t think this reporter understands PUMA. At all. Maybe he has too many deadlines (what’s new in the world of media)?

Don’t bother posting there or doing damage control or whatever it is you feel compelled to do, use your time more wisely.

Meanwhile let’s just find a better reporter with more time to do justice to the PUMA story.

“JUST” my opinion (based on my 20+ years working with media, “is all”).

#42 hillstheone on 07.18.08 at 9:30 pm

* * *TOPIC: PUMA’s Mission Statement * * *

What happened to all of the descriptors everyone sent in to mamapuma last week?

Suggestion: Some of those phrases & descriptors need to be prominently posted on our site so that we speak with One clear voice. Then reporters – no matter how busy – have no excuse to get confused about why we are PUMA’s.

#43 snowtiger on 07.18.08 at 9:33 pm

Read downstiars that Hillary said in defense of 61′s trip to Europe that either “O” or Senator McCAin will be our next president. If the quote is accurate, seems Hillary isnt much of a “O” supporter. :D I find it encouraging.
Just like her comment on getting her hair done while “precious” exercised. Gee, code anyone?

Chalk this day up to the full moon.

I’m serious. Ever work in an ER during a full moon? It will make a believer out of anyone.

So chill, kittens. Warm milk, a strong frosty margarita, cold brew, lemonade; take a long, lazy, hot bath and sharpen those claws while you’re at it. Whatever it takes.

We are good. But everyone has a bad day now and then.

Remember: Full moon. Don’t worry about it.

Stay strong.

So…Hillary should address us about her debt on Sunday? (is that right?)
————-
I need to finish my company’s financing reports (fun fun) but I just want to say this to everyone:

I know that sometimes a post may offend you, sometimes you may not agree with what another PUMA says. But the important thing to keep in mind is that no matter what our individual opinions, we are all in this for the same reasons.

We all believe the DNC had this planned from the beginning

We all believe Hillary was betrayed (and so were we)

We all fear the prospect of a *61 Presidency

We’re all working hard to ensure Hillary’s name is on the ballot for nomination. We share the belief that she has deserved the right to fight for this nomination.

We’re all that’s left of the Democratic party and we’re willing to put our hearts and souls into this each and everyday. And for that, this country will only prosper.

When Hillary is President, we’ll finally be able to sit back and enjoy the well deserved fruits of our noble and righteous labor :)

#53 snowtiger on 07.18.08 at 9:37 pm

If anyone has a place where independents can file a complaint about being turned away during the primaries here in California I would appreciate a link. Seems a friend of my sister had it happen to her. I just found out about it this morning.
She was asked who she was voting for (Hillary) and was told she couldn’t because she wasn’t a registered Democrat.
She will be joining soon.

maxthegrader:

I just went back to look at that BLOG site. It’s at

In all fairness to the reporter, I now see he had written a much _better_ and more accurate description of this group on his July 14 blog.

The newer post I think would be rather confusing to someone reading about PUMA for the first time.

However the older (better) story is down at the bottom of the page, FYI.

#61 hillaryistheone on 07.18.08 at 9:45 pm

I have a question about the media. Aren’t the news channels suppose to give equal time to each candidate???

#58 4hillinca,

I think it’s a great idea for a prowl. You should send it to Maryland Puma.

#66 hillstheone on 07.18.08 at 9:48 pm

Hi 4HillinCa,

You idea of reaching out to the media is good, but I think our time is better spent expressing our dissatisfaction with their gender bias issues.

The media needs PUMA “conditioning” so that when Hillary is up against McCain in the Fall, the coverage won’t be so shrill and sexist. Our Hillary deserves fair coverage.

First place we should start in my opinion is a pounce on msnbc.

By the way yesterday I posted a lot of information about the ownership of msnbc & no one commented about it.

If you ask me I think it’s always important to look behind the surface of things to get the real motives…

#67 snowtiger on 07.18.08 at 9:49 pm

#57 Donnas,
How many from the circles are here? I noticed quite a few. Kinda makes me wonder.

Re-posting for “oneforall”

Native Americans are beautiful people. I’ve read jillions of books on different tribes including Cheyenne, Sioux, Hopi, Navajo and Lakota. I’m told I have some Alaskan tribe in my family tree somewhere. Of all of the tribes, I like Lakota traditions a lot.

There are a lot of similarities between the tribes even though each is distinctly different. Some common beliefs that I like are seeing the sky as masculine and the earth as feminine; also importance of the number 4 (the 4 directions), the belief that you can’t really own the land, and the idea of the vision quest. I also love the myth of the white buffalo.

Thanks for sharing your background with us! I think it’s great that so many tribes donated a lot of money towards Hillary’s campaign. I’ve no doubt they will do so again if needed!

One more thing I want to tell you, I took the day off work today and I went to a cool hot springs I’d never been to. Before it became a public place it was used by the native americans.

The energy there was great. I believe there are some places on the planet that are definite power spots.

Anyway (back to Hillary), I think it’s really interesting how much support she has from the Native American community.

Regarding your post. I do not know why you thought I was taking care of you tube videos. I never said to my knowledge that I was handling that. I did get your videos but I thought they were just for my enjoyment. Anything that I am a part of I get back to people right away and if I don’t have an answer I even get back and tell them that I’m still looking so I don’t want it out there that I am not responding to people. I pride myself on being very conscientious so I just wanted to clear it up that I didn’t shirk any of my responsibility. It sounds like there was just some kind of misunderstanding. Thank you. :)

#64 Thanks I will
#65 Thank you for input. My computer was not well yesterday. I will go back and look at your post. Probably are much more important issues right now. I just watched Fox and got real upset on their report about media coverage. First they ignored Hillary and got called on it..now they are still in with Obama. Just does not seem right or legal…Aren’t they supposed to give unbiased reporting? Oh well, tomorrow is a new day. Thanks to all working so hard. Hillary is worth it!!

# 374 go andersen I lit my candles for we Pumas. Thanks.
# 387 bruce55555 Thanks, I enjoy giving the BO supporters a little truth now and then.

Personally, I think Obama will do all he can to ensure Hillary’s name is not put into nomination, it would be the end of him.
Also, with all the media following him around in Germany, he is bound to put his foot in his mouth once again, and this time there might not be anyone to blame but himself.
Obama is what is ailing this party, he was the dividing factor. Much like Humpty Dumpty, Dean and the DNC wont be putting it together again, unless and until Hillary is put in nomination.
They fear Hillary, they fear Puma, they fear the American people who want justice, who want truth, and who want our votes to count.
We only ask for what is right, how can that be wrong?
One Love

I’m back hillstheone.

Read Abrahams short article. And other than the fact he needs a proofreader I’d say he was doing what a reporter is suppose to do. That is to report the news objectively. Somewhat rare these days in the media.

He simply stated both sides of an issue (PUMA). I didn’t see him give his own opinion for either side. I liked that.

Of course, I didn’t like what Ms. Christina Baker had to say about us. She expressed herself in terms of theory and emotions. I have never listened to such people in my life. They are subjective by nature. Conversely, Darragh answered questions with facts and defined PUMA. But then again, I am partial toward her more rational intellect.

Take heart hill… maybe Mr. Abrahams is one of the good guys of the media. (God, I hate it when I gag like that).

#85 NoMoreInFL on 07.18.08 at 10:10 pm

#86 Dragonfly on 07.18.08 at 10:12 pm

This isn’t the first time Christina has been antagonistic. I tried to get her to back off her emotions and be open-minded weeks ago. She is just convinced of this right-wing conspiracy thing. I don’t think we ought to try to respond to her. She probably just wants the attention.

Good evening everyone. This is my second night here and I was able to successfully log in.

Wanted to let you know more about me. I’m 63 yrs old, have a college degree, have lived in 2 countries and several states, live just outside of San Antonio, Texas, Independent voter, live in the country, and have never been active any way politically until this year.

I was not able to vote in the primaries, but I followed all of the candidates up until that time. I went to bed knowing Hillary had won Texas – woke up in the morning to find the Delegates gave the State to Obama. I even called my Representative the following week to find out what Hillary had done in my district – she won the vote, won the caucus, but Delegate was given to Obama. What??

Hillary fought one of the strongest battles I’ve ever seen against two male opponents. She earned my respect. Yes, I would love to see a woman being called Madam President (of the United States).

I’ve been visiting your site for some time, but I refrained from joining the group because of my political beliefs. I can never support Obama – his strong socialistic platform scares the heck out of me!!

What my brother always tells everyone, “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you your future.”

Thanks

One good way is to list Obama poor experience to Hillarys 35 years of experience.

Obama
Obama is simply not qualified to be President. If you looked up Obama’s accomplishment, he was a community organizer that is true, but the people who worked with him on the asbestos cleanup said he contributed little to the effort the Altgeld Gardens project was never finished. He only had 10 court cases in his legal career and none were civil rights. The cases he did have he played a very minor roll of introducing himself and his client and the team of lawyers which he worked with actually handled the case. He says he is a unifier when he was not present one time during a bipartisan action while senator. He missed more than 1 in 5 votes and only was able to get one of his bills passed. Obama has a razor thin resume and should have never even made Senator let alone a try for the Presidency

Hillary
Hillary has the qualifications, she has 35 years experience. Most Presidents wife’s were just that a Presidents wife. Not Hillary she was different, she was a lawyer and took an active political role in the Whitehouse. She fought very hard to make adoption easier, to expand early learning and child care, she helped veterans suffering from Gulf War syndrome and much, much more. She cannot be ignored for her achievements as she served alongside her husband in the Whitehouse.

This may help or give you an idea

Welcome 1gyspsy4mc #102…. It is wonderful that you have joined us…..I too share your concern and frustration about the current democratic party…I and my family and friends have changed our party to Independent… We are just sick with the disgusting bias of our current democratic party…WHAT A JOKE!!!!!! WE WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER VOTE FOR BO…..Not a chance in Hell……If Hillary is not the one running against McCain then I and my family and friends will be voting for McCain… for the primary reason to prevent BO from ever becomming President…That’s a Joke in itself….And, in all fairness to McCain at least he has represented this Country in a way that should be honored!!!! And, as far as the NY Magazine goes “OH, YA !!! RIGHT ON TARGET!!!!!..I too, received an email from NOW and I told them to delete me from their list… Remember, Puma’s stay focused, alert and true to our mission…and the rest will fall in place…Here’s a quote..Hope you enjoy it….”The richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were no limintations to overcome….Helen Keller Take Care, Suzanne

Welcome home Murphy,

I love the picture you put up tonight. Something about a full moon that brings out the personalities that normally stay guarded and hidden. I love how the full moon changes the tides, gathers these bursts of odd energy and pulls them out to sea, banishing them into the distance. I like to think of it as a moon cleansing for the soul.

But my point is, PUMA’s remind me of a full moon, we will change the political tides and banish the badness. A little at a time until there is more good than bad. We will do this as the strong and stable group we have become.

As someone here used to say at the end of their posts, which I just loved how it sounded… soldier on everyone!

#147 1gypsy4mc on 07.18.08 at 10:48 pm

StarDust
Using logic is everyone’s greatest asset. Attack the issues that are most important. I listened to Tammy Bruce this morning (standing in for Laura Ingraham) and she sure voiced many of Puma’s philosophies. I think she may have a thread to today’s radio broadcast.
She is definitely a feminist!! Maybe someone can get with her since she feels so strongly in favor of immediate action to keep Obama out of office.

#148 antifish on 07.18.08 at 10:48 pm

OK, let’s lighten up the mood here. It is Friday night, after all:

Sing to the tune of the Brady Bunch

Here’s the story,
of a real great lady,
who was trying hard to be the president.
She worked day and night.
she never wavered,
No, she would not relent.

Here’s the story,
of a guy so shady.
that we all knew he was nothing but a con.
He had friends you’d never let get near your mother,
but the media said that he was number one.

Till the one day when the lady beat the fellow,
and the DNC told her to just step back.
They said we should all join hands and be mellow
but with one voice we became the Pumapac!

The Pumapac………! the Pumapac………!
But with one voice, we became the Pumapac!

:D :D :D :D

Just a quick note…

The FCC is the government agency you set up and staffed (through your votes for both Congress and the President) to oversee the fair use of our public airwaves. To learn about the goings on there, you can either spend countless hours reading the law, including regulations; and review reams of transcripts of public hearings. Or, you could either visit their web site or call on Monday to get your questions answered.

I, too, appreciate unbiased coverage. But in today’s post I thought there was little done to clarify confusion about the PUMA movement.

For instance, he made this statement: ”

The criticisms of her group, and others that are essentially against Obama’s nomination, is that they are really run by Republicans trying to fool Democrats. And that they are creating the perception of an intraparty divide. Some have called them racists or worse.”

But then following that statement, today’s post did little to clarify the above misconceptions…I think that’s a disservice to both PUMA and his readers.

Just my opinion, and I respect yours.

Also, I hadn’t known that Murphy was going to vote for McCain. Or maybe she isn’t. But either way his article makes it appear that way, and therefore made the PUMA movement appear to be about everyone going into McCain’s camp.

BTW, speaking of McCain, anybody hear his campaign staff people resigned today after saying the public are “whiners about the economy”?? Gee, there’s a good example of good old fashioned compassion from the GOP….

The Secretary of State in each state is the government official who oversees all aspects of elections, including voter registration, polling places, and certification of vote counts. Most Secretaries have formal complaint procedures that can be accessed on the web. Or, you can call. Debra Bowen is the Secretary of State in California.

TOPIC: POETRY (well, it says Full Moon and POETRY)

We don’t have fireflies where I live, but I’ve seen them, and I liked them.
Here’s a cute poem about them by Robert Frost:

Fireflies in the Garden

Here come real stars to fill the upper skies,
And here on earth come emulating flies,
That though they never equal stars in size,
(And they were never really stars at heart)
Achieve at times a very star-like start.

Hi everyone,

I haven’t posted much lately, but I always try to keep up with the daily growls and read as many posts as I can every day. I have received very few responses to all of the e-mails, letters, and faxes that I have sent. I have gotten notifications of incorrect addresses, or automatic responses, but that is about all. I am sure that all of our efforts make a difference, but it would be nice to receive a response once in a while.

Also, what is the deal with the actionpage? I didn’t realize there were problems.

I wrote a note about her, maybe yesterday. She was fabulous. Basically, she kept saying, ‘I don’t know why everyone is referring to BO as the nominee. Only JMc has enough delegates for the nomination. BO doesn’t. No one is the nominee until the convention. HRC could be the nominee.’

Hi CasperCat,
I truly believe that McCain has great respect for Hillary. He seemed to attack Obama more so than Hillary. They have worked together in the past.

#174 antifish on 07.18.08 at 11:04 pm

#103 Dances,

Yes, it is my understanding that the Credentials Committee can overrule the Rules and Bylaws Commitee and has the final say. The way I’m reading it though, Hillary would have to file a challenge.

The Credentials Committee is responsible for resolving any questions regarding the seating of
delegates and alternates to the Convention. This committee is expected to meet sometime in July
or August prior to the Convention.

Responsibilities:
! Assumes jurisdiction over any credentials challenges not resolved by the DNC Rules and
Bylaws Committee before June 29, 2008, or challenges filed after that date.
! Holds hearings and accepts testimony about challenges, except those decided by the
Committee Co-Chairs based on the pleadings.
! Recommends final resolution of any outstanding challenge or dispute related to the seating
of delegates and alternates.
! Issues a report that is considered as the first item of business at the National Convention.

[[ Can the Credentials Committee overrule the Rules and Bylaws Committee’s decision? ]]

The short answer is,
YES!

The longer answer is,
Same people on the Rules Committee. Plus BHO is now leader of Party, DNC, Rules and Bylaws Committee, Credentials Committee, etc and sets the agenda going foward. IOW, he can rewrite the rules to suit his own needs.

My recall is that there is suppose to be come kind of committee meeting on or around July 22,

But,

Traditionally, the Credentials Committee Meeting happens on the FIRST DAY OF THE CONVENTION.

The Credentials Committee has it within their power to seat Florida and Michigan at 100% their full delegation. YES, YES, YES. But if they are, who will get the credit, BHO or Hillary. Cause he has been against it all along and she has been fighting for it.

Full Moon PUMA

We are PUMAs
on the prowl,
We are PUMAs,
hear us growl.

We work hard,
But like to play
When we come to Denver
Better make way
Open the gates wide
Cause here comes PUMA pride

We love Hillary and the U. S. of A.
We know Hillary is here to stay.
She’s a fighter, not a quitter
And we’re EXCITED, we’re not BITTER

We’re believers, not deceivers
And though our Party did us wrong,
We’ll continue to stay strong.
We’ll continue with our fight,
Till our Party gets it right!

When we come to Denver
Better make way
Open the gates wide
Cause here comes PUMA pride!

So Denver get ready!
Cause when our work is done,
We’ll be looking for fun ;)
Denver get ready, better make way
Open your doors wide
Cause here comes PUMA pride!

I would like to remind PUMAs that arrogant leaders attract equally arrogant followers. They will resort to viciousness when they see their territory being seriously threatened. And what they fail to see is: Fearless, tough, tenacious, passionate leaders attract equally fearless, tough, tenacious and passionate followers, who will not back down, never give up, and never listen to those who tell us to quit. There is no “quit” in Hillary Clinton, and there is no “quit” in us — we are her PUMAs. She created us by example. If the Obots are waiting for us to roll over and play “dead” — just like they tried to get Hillary to do — then they have a fight on their hands that they could never imagine.

#208 1gypsy4mc on 07.18.08 at 11:19 pm

Please forgive me for posting this. I wrote it when I was feeling down and felt I didn’t have anyone to whom I could express my feelings. It can easily be re-vamped for Pumas.

Dear Speaker of the House – Nancy Pelosi

Again today, you let me know how insignificant I am and how I no longer have a vote or a Representative that will stand by me during these very economically trying times.

You showed me again how “democracy in action” is no longer a reality, but that socialism is now replacing what the United States of America means to this lone citizen.

Thank you also for the realization that you think I must accept the on-going corruption of my government before my very eyes. You have taught me on a daily basis that an honest citizen cannot fight organized crime that hides behind the mask of democracy.

You have robbed me of my trust and faith in my government. You have told me that my “vote” is merely a small irritation and easily overlooked.

Speaker of the House – there are two things you cannot rob from me. The first is my hope that I can join with others that feel the same way that I do. The second is my determination to help others make a difference. As each person joins another in like beliefs, we are no longer a silent or a weak heartbeat, but a strong pulse throbbing throughout the United States. You cannot have the Heart of this Nation!

Not Alone

I wanted to repost this again. Thank you so much for posting the link to the radio show about Rezko and *61. It contained a wealth of information about the fraud and corruption taking place with public funds to help *61′s wealthy backers.

I took a lot of notes and will be reviewing this material. This information is very valuable when we are writing our media letters especially to their ombudsmen.

Pumas,

If you listen to one show tonight, tune in.

*61 sounds a lot like President Nixon. If we follow the money in Chicago, it will be his downfall. This is why *61 is claiming his state senate records don’t exist.

#249 maxgrader on 07.18.08 at 11:54 pm

Fear not much, hillstheone.

What Mr. Abrahams reported about the perceptions of PUMA are correct, although the perceptions are wrong. Things like being Republicans in Democrats clothing is indeed what people are thinking about us. But it’s not true.

It’s true that our Darragh contributed to McCain one time. But only because she wanted to reduce the odds as much as possible of Bush becoming president. She was so adamant about that she was willing even to give her own hard earned money to that cause. Bush too was an inexperienced politician most particularly in foreign affairs. Murphy’s main vote went to Al Gore because that’s who she believed in the most. She simply wanted to have a safer alternative in McCain should Gore lose. Unfortunately Bush got his party’s nomination and the rest, as they say, is Supreme Court history.

I don’t feel Mr. Abrahams did PUMA a disservice. And believe me it takes a lot out of me to say that about anyone in the media (see there, I just gagged again). To me Murphy was acting like an Independent back in 2000. She didn’t do anything against her principles.

I think most intelligent readers of Abrahams article would not be mislead by the fact she contributed money to McCain once upon a campaign.

However, if what Frank Zappa once disputed is evidential… that the most abundant element in the universe is not hydrogen but stupidity… then this country is in more trouble than I thought.

I’m sorry to say that I’m from Illinois and unfortunately this is where Nobama went to Chicago to learn dirty politics. I have a sister who lives in Iowa and she is so upset about her state going for BHB in the primaries. We are both Hillary supporters but unfortunately it looks like Nobama has these two states locked up. We are both telling our family and friends about the “real Obama”. We can’t understand how so many uninformed people have fallen for this smooth talking unqualified guy who doesn’t even know there are 50 states. If McCain had said there were 57 states, the MSM would have called him ‘senile’.

Good Evening PUMA FAMILY!!

I seldom join the blog, but today something tells me I better speak up, we’ve been infiltrated by saboteurs. I welcomed it; it tells me loud and clear our organization is getting notice, from a small voice it is growing louder and louder and soon will become a thunder. We are a force to be reckoned with, we’re not in the pocket of anyone or on anyone’s payroll. We owe NO ONE anything, but we have a BIG RESPONSIBILITY for future Americans, we are all doing this for them. I’ve lived in three countries and have seen what government can do to people if they’re neglectful of their civic duty.

I’ve seen the likes of NOBAMA in another country, he is NOT unique or rare, in fact the LIKES of NOBAMA is VERY COMMON in CORRUPT NATIONS. Politicians like NOBAMA will take away the last penny in your pocket and expect YOU to be grateful. When a politician tells you something so vague, start listening to that alarm bell in your head; he’s making a fool out of you. – ” FOOLS RUSH IN, WHERE WISEMEN NEVER GO.”

The kind of politics NOBAMA is engaged in, is very much known to me; it never dawn on me, USA will elect a politician with a sweet tongue but venomous, worse than Cobra. NOBAMA is like a SPITTING COBRA, I literally cannot stand the man. In fact I can’t watch him on TV, he gives me ACID REFLUX.

My focus right now is on Hillary, I’m still very hopeful she’ll be the nominee after the convention, but if superdelegates continue with their foolishness and vote for the WORST CANDIDATE for November, their would be hell to pay. I’ve made a lists of superdelegates in my state that voted for NONAME, I will vote AGAINST them.

McCain will get my vote, my campaign contribution and my time if NOBAMA is the nominee. AT LEAST, with Senator John McCain I know what I am getting into, I TRUST Senator McCain, I cannot say the same thing about that Senator from Southside of Chicago.

We ALL must stick together and continue with our crusade. This is bigger than any of us can conceive, democracy is at stake here, security of our country is at stake.

Some of us may feel a bit slighted, that’s normal; we are a family, a ,movement of true Americans, every now and then we’ll have a little misunderstanding. They can call us all kinds of names, it don’t mean a thing because we know who we are, what we stand for as an organization.

I had an exchange of not so nice word with my doctor, I made it clear I will NEVER vote for NOBAMA, she said I am crazy because I’m a bleeding heart democrat (she knows me for many years). I told her my stint with the Democratic Party is over and I’m PUMA PAC member, her face turned beet red…….LMAO!

I’m campaigning in my own way for PUMA PAC, recruiting people to join our organization, I do it face to face and explain what is the goal of PUMA PAC, I also made it clear we are from different walks of life – I call it RAINBOW COALITION OF DISGRUNTLED VOTERS. When our votes don’t matter anymore, it means democracy is about to die. Please don’t get me wrong, I’ve walked on this path before; this is deja vu for me. The only thing I can ask from all of you, please BE STRONG, FOCUS your mind what we wanted to achieve.

As the old saying goes, “keep your eyes on the donut but NOT on the hole.”

Murphy thank for that lovely poem by Walt Whitman, he was a great poet of our time.

249 maxgrader on 07.18.08 at 11:54 pm Fear not much, hillstheone.

*************************

This whole topic about Murphy contributing to the McCain campaign in 2000 has no relevance to the PumaPac’s mission, which is {FIRSTLY} to ensure the H.R. Clinton’s name will be in NOMINATION ON THE FIRST ROLL CALL.

So, I do not feel it is necessary to defend Murphy’s contribution. Our response should be SO WHAT!!!

Because if Hillary is not the democratic presidential nomination, then we will either not vote in the General Election or we will vote for McCain.

No Obama never!!!

1gypsy4mc: We have the phone numbers of all the SDs I think, just working on the fax numbers and emails. It’s mostly the Obama SDs that are really hard to find. The funny thing is they complain that we write to their personal addresses, but don’t provide ones for us to lobby them. If anyone wants to help, email Trish. The more people searching the better.

Thank you murphy, maryland and all those who do so much. Much appreciated. We have some seriously smart people blogging here, and me thinks we are making an impact.

hello all..I want to put my twocents in about Murphy being a republican ..WHO CARES? I certainly DO NOT..I have always been registered as a Democrat and voted as such, but I knew from my research of obama since his 2004 speech at the convention that I could NEVER support him (if he decided to run and of course he did decide to, even after stating he was not experienced enough to do so, but I digress) and especially after seeing how Hillary was treated in this process, it doubled my determination to NEVER vote for him. So I was proud to find Muphy and her group. It gives me a voice to express my distaste/disgust for everything the DNC has allowed to go on. It also supports my choice to vote for John McCain, a very honorable, trust-worthy American, if Hillary is not on the ticket. So, I thank Murphy for her courageous action in starting this group and her political leanings do not matter a twit with me! You go Murph!! :) sorry to be so long-winded!

Please know that I am writing to no less than four superdelegates a day and, each time I do it, I am letting them know about the existence of NotFallingInLine.org.

It would be great if, in the unlikely event that any of them were to go to the site, they were to see as many comments to those ads as possible from people who are expressing agreement with them and suggesting improvements to them.

If you think the ads have any value, please consider writing a comment to the post as a kind of “signature” of agreement.

Team Clinton Gearing Up for 2012?
July 18, 2008 3:58 PM

ABC News’ Eloise Harper Reports: Rumors are swirling over whether or not former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is secretly planning a run for the presidency in 2012.

Clinton aides have stressed that Sen. Clinton’s, D-N.Y., focus now is doing everything she can to help her party’s presumptive presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., emerge victorious in his race for the White House.

However, over the past week several items have piqued the interest of speculators who wonder if Clinton and her team are gearing up for a possible 2012 bid.

This week Clinton sent her donors an email noting that she would welcome contributions of general election funds they donated to her presidential campaign to her 2012 Senate bid. General election funds are traditionally returned to donors if the candidate loses in the primary race. Clinton’s campaign is required to return this money to donors by August 28th. With that deadline approaching, Clinton emailed her supporters offering them that option.

The catch? The funds from her Senate account could be transferred into a possible 2012 bid for presidency, if Clinton decides to run. etc. etc.

~ ~ ~

NO, you meatheads! She only suspended, not ended, her campaign…

#343 freepuma,

Worse than that, he spent the last four years Googling every speech ever made and stealing lines from them. I thought it was so funny when he got caught using the same speech as Duval Patrick when Hill accused him of having just words and no substance. It was one of the highlights of the campaign for me.

#363 hillstheone on 07.19.08 at 12:59 am

freepuma,

yeah, we might think so (Obama’s speeches), but the Dem Party liked them well enough to start talking about him as a presidential candidate right after the last convention…dum. Besides, as the article said, he doesn’t have the qualities to be a good leader.

Sunshinelvr – I am not sure of NotFallingInLine’s alter ego, but there is a contact place on the blog. The ad does mention NotFallingInLine and so attribution is given. I would think it is not a problem, but do give attribution to his/her website if you end up altering the ad.

“I disagree. Men use Botox too. I don’t see where it is sexist.”

It’s sexist because the focus is on the looks of the two women, rather than their positions.

But, you haven’t answered the first question.

383 antifish: “Sometimes people just need to have a little fun. We are not the media broadcasting to millions of people in America. There is a huge difference. I can just imagine what the people you mentioned say about us.”

DWP: It’s sexist… no matter what anyone else is saying. Would you defend racism with that same argument?

#417 jbjd on 07.19.08 at 1:23 am

Cosmeta, I also was in touch with the Argus Leader. (I contacted the press in every primary state. And I wrote to school papers in those states, too.) In fact, I not only blogged at the Argus but, I also contacted their editors directly to thank them for clarifying HRC’s remarks about RFK and to ask them to endorse her in the primary.

I have noticed, you and I are often on the same page.

#418 Dragonfly on 07.19.08 at 1:23 am

#411 Dances,

Calling out isms is fine by me. But antifish is right – botox is not sexist. Both genders use it. It is about being fake.

Again, I would appreciate knowing how to find the objectionable stuff about Brazile so that I can help Murphy evaluate whether it needs to be removed.

I am not trying to discourage you from blogging about what is important to you; I am asking that you not jump to the conclusions about whether anyone here is a sexist without probing further with someone what they mean. Antifish has explained re: botox.

When it gets late on the blog, sometimes tempers flare. Let’s not go down that road. That is not where I am headed.

#419 antifish on 07.19.08 at 1:24 am

#402 Sunshinelvr,

If you go to the website and sign up, you can ask the site owner if it’s OK to use the ad. That would be the right thing to do. I signed up there a few days ago to take part in the actions.

#420 Dragonfly on 07.19.08 at 1:25 am

#417 jbjd – I checked out Argus too. I am so glad you blogged there. I got pulled away. I am glad that the RFK commentary was explained. You know, it bears remembering that his own family supports her.

Cosmeta has been such a wonderful resource on the blog and so have you!

Thank you.

#424 DancesWithPumas on 07.19.08 at 1:28 am

418 Dragonfly

First of all, I wasn’t having this discussion with you. I was addressing antifish.

Secondly, I referenced a recent thread trashing Donna Brazile’s appearance. People who read or were otherwise involved in that thread know what I’m referring to…
It isn’t that someone has to go and remove the thread… I’m using that thread to make my point. You don’t have to take my word for it, if you are that curious, go look for it. It was an evening thread.

By the way… my temper isn’t flared.

#425 antifish on 07.19.08 at 1:28 am

#416 Dances,

I don’t know where your coming from now. To answer your question, no, I would not defend racism with any argument. It is indefensible!

I still hold the position that a reference to Botox is not sexist. It is a product used by men and women alike. If anything it is a testament to their vanity and, as Dragonfly alluded to their phoniness.

#426 DancesWithPumas on 07.19.08 at 1:29 am

I went to Oprah’s message board to possibly post about PUMA. Interestingly, her board has had a redo and it no longer allows for political discussion. From what I can figure out, it happened within the last couple of weeks.

This is what one of the posters said:

How strange for Oprah to endorse a candidate for the Presidency, and then to shut-down and censor any discussion of politics on a board once known for its political discussions.

#441 scarlet,

I don’t think we’ve met. Welcome aboard! Yes, didn’t Oprah do us all a favor by declaring Barack was “The One”? Now, she seems to want to distance herself from the whole thing. Could it be because her ratings are going down the tubes?

Thank you. Nice to be appreciated.

Of course, I already knew RFK, Jr. was not offended at the comment. And I knew she had made the same comment 3 months earlier, in March, to Time, which printed these remarks, without a peep by BO’s minions. I just wanted to thank the Argus Leader for coming to HRC’s defense, having ‘been there’ when she made the remarks to their editorial board, putting them in the best position to reaffirm the context preserved in the tape of their session.

I stopped watching TV too, in mid-April, I could not take it anymore, leaving the men in the house to take over completely with Spike, and History Channel, and FOX. They give me their take on what they are seeing. The see a major bias toward promoting Obama. Regular people see through him. Me, I can’t even watch our peeps going on the tube national, I am that scarred and biased against the Main Stream Media. I have the alterniverse of our common blogging. That’s where I go to find everything going on high and low. I don’t miss TV at all really. Usually at this time I am watching Boston Red Sox or SF Giants day in and day out. I am off Baseball too. I am thinking and learning to drive like a PUMA.

#450 Dragonfly on 07.19.08 at 1:47 am

I really think our disgust with what went on during the primary is shared by more people than we know. Many older citizens don’t have computers, but they are not stupid. Many of them were once Oprah fans.

As far as Google, they deserve what they get. They are so far up BO’s butt we’d need a robotic arm to get them out.

I grew up in Northern Cali. and the Giants was da chit for me all my life!!! Then I moved to New England, and learned to really love the Red Sox! My dream would be a Red Sox vs. Giants World Series! I liked the Cardinal’s when I lived in St Louis, but not when they played the Giants, same goes for the Red Sox.

“Google’s” revenue earnings estimates are down because people aren’t clicking on the ads.

Oprah’s ratings started sliding when she began campaigning for Senator Obama, and ran reruns for weeks on end. Her political position, supporting Obama, also contributed to the slide.

Yes, both men and women use botox but for more than making us look younger. It is now being used for PAIN!The botulism virus (I think it is a virus) , my doctor said, is being used for many types of things now and is apparently getting very good results. I was as shocked as you must be about this but thank goodness for new therapies for chronic pain. As mine can get pretty bad, I know I will enjoy every opportunity to get the injections! RE: botox

I knew someone once who had a condition where a muscle in his neck tightened so much that it was pulling his head to one side. Very painful situation. The doctors were shooting botox into the muscle to try to relax it and relieve some of the pain and tightness. I don’t think it was a cure, but it helped relieve some of the symptoms for a while. Just heard this same thing comparing oral contraceptives to Viagara. My answer would be that Viagara helps with a specific physical problem. Botox, for improving looks, is a cosmetic procedure and not for a physical problem or medically necessity . However, since I will be getting botox for my back it probaly will be covered as my back doesn’t need to look pretty, just needs to feel that way. By the way, oral contraceptives are considered preventitive. BUT, if you are having hormone problems, such as being menopausal, then OC’s are typically covered by health insurance. Actually, back on botox, if someone had a face disfiguration and botox was part of the treatment to fix that, my guess is that it probably would be covered.

Hope not too confusing.

Sold OC’s for several years. The great thing is that it is preventive and costs far less than women getting pregnant when they aren’t ready for a baby. Less pre-natal care, less healthy and/or premature babies.f someone’s OC’s are covered by insurance, oftentimes if a female is having hormonal problems, who are not menopausal, such as a teen-ager with irregularities in her monthly, that may be covered as it is considered it a problem.

They’re planning on messing with our access to healthcare services and contraception, and Hillary’s already on the case.
She and Patty Murray are wasting no time in calling them out for their underhanded plan to undermine our access to reproductive healthcare services. Make no mistake guys – this new rule would redefine abortion to include several widely used contraceptives (the Pill, the IUD and of course – Plan B) and is a clear attempt to cut funding to healthcare services to millions of us”

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A Bush administration plan to define several widely used contraception methods as abortion is a “gratuitous, unnecessary insult” to women and faces tough opposition, Sen. Hillary Clinton said on Friday.

The former Democratic presidential candidate joined family planning groups to condemn the proposal that defines abortion to include contraception such as birth control pills and intrauterine devices.

It would cut off federal funds to hospitals and states where medical providers are obligated to offer legal abortion and contraception to women.

“We will not put up with this radical, ideological agenda to turn the clock back on women’s rights,” the New York senator told a joint news conference with New York Rep. Nita Lowey, also a Democrat, at Bellevue Hospital.

“Women would watch their contraceptive coverage disappear overnight,” said Clinton.

The planned rule is aimed at countering recent state laws enacted to ensure that women can get contraception when they want or need it. It also would help protect the rights of medical providers to refuse to offer contraception.

Clinton said she has written a letter with Patty Murray, a Democrat senator from Washington, to Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt asking him to reconsider and reject the release of the proposed rules.

*********************************************She also urged people to sign a petition on her website, http://www.hillpac.com, against the proposed changes.

I know people discuss party lines, but I think that we are fighting for our basic freedoms in this election cycle. Party lines seem unimportant in that light. That’s why BO’s supporters can scream all they want about party lines – I am not listening on that topic.

Country before Party for me.

Besides, I am an Independent and have been for many many years. Independent meaning that I don’t align with any one party. I always try to vote for who I think is the best candidate. So it amuses me that they think PUMAs are Republicans – how naive they are.

Thanks for that video, my first time seeing it. Perfect for today has been a strange day, full moon a risin’

Seemed like a lot of stress and aggression and so I took a full back seat on the blog today. That video cheered me up.

Our Hillary IS awesome, hard at work in the Senate! 2012!!! I have been rooting for her for several years now, I can root and wait a few more…

I am sorry that I have let the corruption in the DNC leadership really get to me, so I have no hope for the Convention, they are steamrollering over all 18 Mil of us! Should I be this down? Damn straight. Should I stand and fight? Damn Straight. but its going to take us long years to make the changes. One person one vote, we will turn them out a vote at a time.

I plan on giving money to their opponents, in the primaries and elections. I am going to use what I can spare of my money to do this, where I do not have the ability to cast a vote against them I will throw dollars against them. This I can do. Starting with Cindy Sheehan. 200$ to start!

#575 LilyMaid on 07.19.08 at 3:46 am

Going to Denver in spirit. Physically I could not keep up the pace…not just because of the altitude, but also because I do not have the stamina for the activities. But, I contributed to help others go.

#576 BillieJo on 07.19.08 at 3:50 am

Okay, I am going to ask a question that has been bothering me all day, and since there are very few people on the blog right now, hopefully no one will blast me for it. I have a very sad feeling that in Denver not enough delegates will be strong enough to make a stand for Hillary. I hate thinking it and what to think that all the threats to PUMAs means we are making a difference. But I fear that delegates are not willing to stick their necks out for what is right.
What do you guys honestly think?

Never know though, I might fly in to Salt Lake and rent a minivan if I cannot do this through Denver, since I am off the week of the Convention. I will live on adrenalin for a few days if I do. Dances- You’re right about us all meeting as PUMAs was something I never thought possible.
As badly as I feel right now, I can’t imagine how Hillary must feel. To have won the majority of votes and be pushed out by people she worked with and trusted.
When Gore was pushed out of the election I was really angry at Bush, the Fla. Supremes and mostly the Republicans. Cheaters, I thought. Now my party is the cheaters and the dreaded dark side is just watching the DNC self-destruct. Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully it will bring more hope at the meetings. I lost my bearings for a while over that. I mean, who the F do they think they are, coercing and beating someone down to get them out of the race. And she gathered her good grace, and sacrificed her candidacy to their hardcore anti-democratic will.

Yes, we are trying so hard to make a difference and when I was working on the delegate database with Trish I kept reading info on these people…thinking how many would never change from *61 by their background…many super delegates were college kids that think he is the savior.

#624 Henerietta on 07.19.08 at 8:43 am

As the anniversary of the Senical Falls convention is upon us, my thoughts wander beyond our current fight. This election in 2008 is truly historic. Not only did we have our first viable female candidate, but women have begun to participate in ways we never thought of before. The issue is not that a woman be at the helm for a woman being at the helm’s sake, rather that we, the people, need competent government. We elected a competent candidate who happens to be a woman.

I believe the issues we face are not just gender related. They certainly are not race related. They are people issues. We Democrats, have let common sense and competence be pushed aside for party unity many times before. It has yeilded us the likes of Dukakis, Kerry, Mondale and now Obama.

The truth is: The party has always had a destructive element. The back door deal has always been a shadow lurking just behind the curtain. The good ol boys club has always been part and parcel of our existence. The powers in the party accepted it, even nurtured it, using it for personal gain and issue success.

Now the time has come when we can no longer accept the status quo. The will of the people as defined by the one person one vote principle has been disregarded. Moreover, the will of the people has been disregarded since the first election of this century, both in the general election of 2000, and now in the Democratic Primary of 2008.

This fight and our movement isn’t just about the candidates. It is about our party, and in extension, about our nation and the world. We must not lose the fight for the soul of our people. We must not lose the principle of one person, one vote. We must insist on the allowance of participation by all, participation that counts equally with all other’s participation.

The women who gathered in protest to try to obtain the vote stood on just such a principle. They prevailed. It was a long hard battle, but they prevailed. The civil rights movement and voting rights reforms of the 1960′s were successful, and the people prevailed.

We must not go back to the deal making, behind doors double dealing of the precivil rights era. We must go forward, undoing the damage that was recently done, restoring our party to the principles it purports to stand for so that our nation can recover from the blows heaped upon it by the current people in power.

Heneri

There is no way that Obama should have Hilliary “BITCH” Clinton for V.P. She has done so much damage to the Democratic with her crude, undiplomatic remarks. Anything to get the Nomination. She would be “BAGGAGE”. And, the “THIRD WHEEL” who has done even more damage, Billy Boy would be there trying to put his two cents in. He too has done much damage, after all Gore wouldn’t even let him campaign for his chance. What does that tell you?

And, Richardson would gain much more of the hispanic vote than that “Carpetbagger” Hilliary.

Light posting today as I catch up on email and other things and get ready for the first Puma PAC radio show.

If you sent me an email I will respond today — but feel free to resend anything you think I should see right now.

Thanks for holding things together so well yesterday and the night before.

Take it upstairs!

I agree. It scares me the mindset of the next generation. The majority of them seem to have a lot of education, but lack in the areas of common sense, compassion, and patriotism.

LOL July 18th –
Michelle Obama: Using Blogher to Talk to People Online – Blogher

So I go there are read her dribble about how she can relate to the working women with children – yeah right. And not one comment after her article. I’m guessing the Bo train of fans can’t blog it because being the kids they are, they can’t relate to 1. work and 2. caring for children. That and the idea Mo is as boring as heck when she tries to reach out to people.
