I like to look at this as though I were a fiction writer who understands that great stories demand great conflict. Great stories demand that the heroine be continually beset with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, each one bigger and tougher than the one before it, until finally it appears that all is lost. Then, and only then, can the writer allow the heroine to emerge victorious and provide the audience with the most delicious and satisfying ending possible.
This is still Act II, dear Pumas, not Act III. And in Act II, things must still get worse before they can get better. Our heroine Hillary fought valiantly during a difficult primary season, and yet she failed to secure the nomination. So now, the plot thickens. Now our heroine Hillary must do the heretofore unthinkable and infiltrate enemy territory. It’s a more daring and precarious plan that she has undertaken before, but her options are few.
Key to her success is convincing the evil Nobama and his ilk that she supports him wholeheartedly. But her loyal Pumas know better. So do our allies in other camps. It’s a ruse. It’s a diversion. It’s 18 million cracks in a glass ceiling through which we can slip in and attack. It is a brilliant plan, dear Pumas.
Like you, I fear for our heroine Hillary in the clutches of the evil Nobama. But we must remain brave and stalwart Pumas. We must do the things that our heroine Hillary cannot do now.
Sadly, not all of us can march on Denver. Not all of us have the resources to help pay down Hillary’s debt. Not all of us are gifted at writing letters and emails. But by pooling our energies and resources, we can do great things. Together, we are invincible.

The purpose has always been to make political enemies for ourselves, but death threats are not good.

Murphy, even if nothing comes of finding out who made the threat it is a good idea to document it with the police and your Internet/phone carriers.
Years ago I filed a sexual harassment complaint against my employer. One week before the deadline to file the complaint with the Affirmative Action Office where I worked I got a very scary death threat on my answering machine, saying “You will die in one week.” (At the very same by coincidence one of the lightbulbs in the hallway near my phone blew out, scaring me half to death!) I called the police right away and they sent an officer over to my house. She listened to the message, made a report and asked me if I was having any problems with anyone. When I told her about my employer she said she thought it was likely him and the police would send two detectives over to his house to “ask him a few questions.” Well, needless to say, I didn’t get any more threatening phone calls. I was probably just lucky, but it doesn’t hurt to protect yourself….

As a former police officer(prior to injury) I strongly urge you Murphy to let your local police know of the threat and make sure they take a report and give you a case number. It may be nothing, but it should be documented by police and have them made aware so they can be looking out for ya.

I agree with the above posts and this applies to ANYONE who gets threats. ALWAYS report it! This is a good paper trail and they can track where either the email or phone call came from. I believe there is a new law that was just passed re: harrassing someone via email. I saw this about the woman who pretended to be a teen boy and called this teen girl, set her up and then acted like “he” wanted nothing to do with the girl and the girl committed suicide. The mother (if you can even call her that) was sentenced but don’t know exactly what for but did hear them talk about new cybercrime laws.
I would also call your phone company (if it was made via phone) and tell them what happened and see if they can track down who made it. There is probably an FCC regulation on threatening people on the phone.

You are right : Ségolène Royal, the candidate who ran against Sarkozy last year was the victim of the same kind of sexist treatment from the media and from other politicians. And it continues today : she is one of the main opponents to Sarkozy, and she is being laughed at and ridiculed constantly, just because she is a woman.
That’s the reason why I am writing a book at the moment, which will draw a comparison between Ségolène and Hillary’s candidacies, and which will particularly denounce sexism in the media and politics.

Apparently, Google defended itself saying it was a “spam issue.” Brit reported that the shut-down was caused by Obama supporters taking advantage of a Google spam reporting option Google provides.

Senator Clinton’s request for contributions for 2012 is speaking a big message and we need to hear it!!
I believe ALOT is being said here:
1. She either believes *61 will not win and/or won’t be very good if he does. Since most Presidents in office for 4 years go for a run for the next 4 years and I believe an incumbent has a better chance of winning. Or she believes McCain is going to win and he has said he will be a one term President so she knows she can beat whoever will be the Republican nominee in 4 years. This move on her financing for 2012 is conveying a big message to everyone, HANG IN THERE!!
2. She is NOT asking that we contribute to *61 OR the DNC. That speaks loud and clear where her true priorities lie. I think it is hysterical.
3. It also tells us that her debt must be paid off. So, now she is not indebted to *61 and can move forward for HER own interests.
4. We CAN still do it and get her elected as the nominee and I believe that is her underlying message to us, the DNC and *61.
WE WILL make a difference and she WILL be our nominee!!

As for the Clintons…if Senator OR President Clinton didn’t approve of what we were doing, they would say something. We all know they (of all people) know we exist. So they must approve of our continuation of the fight.
That article earlier about some Democrats secretly being unhappy with *61 and his campaign, it got me thinking. If those Democrats are unhappy, some of them could be SDs. And even if they’re not, we dont really know what every SD is thinking. I have a feeling many of them who supported *61 are really thinking about switching their support once it gets closer to the convention.
Why would they switch now and risk threats? If they switch 2-3 days before the convention, there’s really no time for anyone to orchestrate any kind of strongarm tactic against them…

They went into a back room for over 2 hours and when they came out, they had SELECTED Obama. I’m blaming the DNC and Obama for the sexism and misogyny against a sitting Senator and former First Lady. One of the few things that all PUMAs agree with is that we would rather walk on hot coals or gouge our own eyes out than to vote for Obama in November. I respect your viewpoint but OUR collective viewpoint is that this political season has been biased from the beginning and that Obama was the choice of a very few influencial members of the DNC and thus propped upped and sustained by them.

From a 63 yr old, black female supporter of Hillary, thanks. I knew I would not vote for Obama after the awful debacle in SC where while accusing the Clintons of racism, Obama himself used race-baiting tactics to win SC and further his campaign. Obama had won IA, lost NH, lost Nevada, he had to win SC or risk being out of the race if he didn’t win this overwhelmingly black participating democratic primary. At this point Hillary had a 65% black support in SC. Obama had to rip these voters from Hillary’s hands, thus he played the victim of race on comments that in no way could be consrued to be racist. He was helped in this effort by Donna Brazille and Jim Clyburn of SC. Because I am retired I was able to closely watch his effort unfold. I marched with Dr King. Obama dishonored all who helped in the civil rights struggle and dishonored King. For this I despise him and will never vote for him, ever. I grew up during the James Brown “I’m black and I’m proud” era. I can not be proud of him becomming the first “black affirmative action nominee” due to the actions of the DNC and the super delegates.

The “rules” were revised and altered on the fly to insure victory for Obama. Besides, the “rules” can be changed anytime by the DNC and they were to insure Obama a victory. The caucuses only made up 3% of the vote yet rendered 85% of the delegates. Is that fair? Not to mention many voters could not spare the 3+ hours to sit in at caucuses. The elderly, the frail/handicapped, those with JOBS, those with children, etc., etc., etc. could not participate. On top of the that there is widespread reporting of harassment, intimidation, misinformation re: locations, etc., in the caususes. What about the superdelegates who were threatened by Obama IF they countered the vote of their states, for example, yet, we heard not a word about superdelegates like Kennedy, Kerry, Richardson, etc. who violated this little Obama dictum. Who defended those in states that did go for Obama who wanted to stick with Hillary? John Lewis comes to mind here. I think it is absolutely atrocious that this great civic right’s fighter should have been so abusively treated by the Democratic leadership and others.
The process was incredibly dishonest and flawed. Obama’s win is very questionable.

Would you please cite the quote where Clinton, “acknowledges she lost”? She suspended her campaign. She retained her delegates. And, yes, this country needs her to be president way more than she needs to be president.
The other part of it is about the campaign she ran. Patti Solis ran the first part of Clinton’s campaign poorly. Clinton rallied after replacing her. Was the BO’s fault? Well, BO “hired” Solis after she left the Clinton campaign. Sounds like Chicago style politics to me.

Many factors contributed to how the primaries turned out, including the ridiculous caucus system that in no way represents the will of the voters, because only a handful of eligible voters were able to participate. Not all of us who will support McCain are not doing this as a “protest” vote. I for one certainly am not. I am doing it because I think McCain is by far the better candidate, head and shoulders better, than Obama. My vote for McCain if Hillary is not the Democratic nominee will be an AFFIRMATIVE vote, not a protest vote!
I am not worried about Roe v. Wade. I’d rather have a competent, experienced, trustworthy president than risk not being able to get an abortion. On my list of priorities, a person I can trust and who’d competent takes precedence by a long shot over abortion rights.
Obama is not going to get us out of Iraq any sooner (and probably much later and in a much messier, more deadly way) than McCain will. Just like Nancy Pelosi told the world she’d start bringing troops home within 100 days of getting control of the House. Well, it’s 2 years later and I’m still waiting….
Obama is promising a very rosy picture about ending the Iraq War, which is very easy to do if you ignore the facts and realities there. Once he bothers to find out what’s happening there, you won’t be able to tell the difference between him and John McCain’s positions, except that you will hear them from McCain first and then you’ll hear from Obama, if he’s asked, “Well, on this I have to agree with John….” just like he did when he debated with Hillary.
Obama’s stated positions may be similar as Clinton’s. The difference is Hillary really means them and she has a chance of actually making them happen. Obama talks the talk, but he hasn’t get a clue on how to actually implement them, nor does he have the skill, the judgment, the political sophistication to deal on the world stage and get things done.

She did NOT lose. The voting process has NOT been completed. It will not be completed until the Democratic convention and all delegates have stated who they vote for (can be Senator Clinton, *61 or I imagine, Jane Doe).
NEITHER candidates had not received enough delegates to “win” the nomination. Many delegates said they “supported or endorsed” either Senator Clinton or *61 but support or endorsement means NOTHING until the vote in Denver.
Senator Clinton has NOT released her delegates which means she is in this race as much as *61. Only 175 SD’s is the difference between the two and we are confident that many of those people are doubting their earlier endorsement of *61 as he continues to use his rhetoric to say nothing except confuse the people and lose supporters (yea).
So, please be very explicit and upfront that she is STILL in the race and has NOT left it and neither have we. She may be spending *61’s money instead of her $$ to keep her on the campaign trail and her face out there and she WILL beat *61.

I know one thing, there was a link yesterday to a site, that was talking about a protest group that was going to block roads and bridges, it went into great detail, in fact I really think that it should have been reported. That type of protest is not what we are about, no hate, no violence. I am going to try to find that link so that maybe you will understand. We have to make it clear, we are not violent. She said they know they won’t win on style but are hoping people will look for substance.
There are many issues where we will disagree with McCain, but for me the most important concerns are National Security and the economy. I think McCain wins on both.

Also got my first death threat today. Apparently God will guide the hand of judgment against me.
I hope you do not take this lightly; and that you take the necessary steps to protect yourself.
First, Do not destroy any proof(s) whether it’s a phone call message or letter or an email. But instead, SAVE iT and if possible do not touch it or put your own fingerprints on it, and put it into a sealed plastic bag, if its a letter for example.
Second, You need to file a police report. Even if you do not think it a serious threat, do not take things like this lightly.
Third, Contact your attorney to seek advice.
If it’s a phone call, your line can be tapped.

Lastly, you need to tell your closest of family members and have lots of people call you several times a day to check up on you. Do not leave the house alone if you can avoid it… Always keep people around. I don’t know if you have children, but the same kinds of safeguards for them as wll as you and I do suppose your husband as well.
Also, you need to make a public tv announcement on this. Put it out there as a Media Release!

My neighbor asking us to an *61 get-together
I have one more thing to tell you then I need to go pot some plants.
Background first…
I live in a city that is 99.99% white I live in a neighborhood that several of us are really close. We moved here about 2 years ago and everyone welcomed us with open arms. I know most of the political preferences of the people by signs in their yards but I have not discussed mine to simply for neighborhood peace. I have health problems and really need these people to look out for me.
One of the neighbors is a nice woman, about 65 but also kind of weird about some things. She came by to invite us to a neighborhood get-together for *61. My kind husband was patiently listened to her but when I came to the door he moved away and into another room because he knew what was coming.
I simply told my neighbor that I am a huge HIllary fan and belong to a group which is part of a coalition of over 300 groups and thousands and thousands of peopl e and we are working to make sure Senator Clinton is included as a nominee and that she gets the opportunity for people to vote for her.
She first said she didn’t realize that groups like us existed. The NEXT thing she said “well is it because he is black?” I was stunned. I said of course not, I am not a prejudice person and that is a misconception that most people don’t like him based on his skin color. She commented that some people do make their decisions based on that. What bothered me most is we have an AFrican American family who moved in next door to us several months ago. We have started building a good relationship with them and especially their son who just moved here helps us with yard work as my hubby travels and I can’t do alot of that work. He really likes us and we like him. Actually all the family is great.
Yes, I could have approached her with a bit more thoughfulness but I was just shaking when I was talking to her and it came out pretty harsh. I am just sooo passionate for whaI believe in.
Needless to say , it was quite an exchange and I would feel TERRIBLE if my great next door neighbors should receive misinformation from her.

Given the fact that currently the race appears to be so close in swing states, including in new ones like CO and VA… I would love to see a joint all-out effort focused on those states by the PUMA/JSND coalition to vet/expose BO and also the Dem party shenanigans that led to his unfortunate selection. We can’t wait for the Republicans to hit him hard.
It would be great if the PUMA/JSND coalition pooled resources and funds (from fund-raising drives) to run TV, radio and newspaper ads (etc) in the critical swing states. As a Dem group, we can also bring to light things and issues related to BO that are of greater concern to Democrats than what the Reps might focus on.
Maybe PUMA/JSND can form a 527 group to focus on the ads, etc, called something like “Concerned Democrats.” It would be more powerful if a TV ad exposing BO’s negatives, said at the end, “Paid for by Concerned Democrats”… so that people don’t think that it’s just another Republican anti-BO ad. Also, “PUMA” or “Just Say No Deal” might be dismissed by some people (“Of course, it’s those Hillary fanatics…”). Using a name like “Concerned Democrats” might be more powerful all around.
Murphy… I’m wondering what’s up with the idea you proposed in one of the PUMA blogs, along with sample video clips (about 2 or 3 weeks ago?), of putting BO-vetting TV ads in swing states… and the fund-raising efforts you suggested. Tennessee Certificate of Ratification of the 19th Amendment
August 24, 1920
In June, 1919, the long battle for Women’s Suffrage surged forward with a stunning victory as the 66th U. S. Congress passed the 19th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, giving women the right to vote in political elections. One hurdle remained—ratification of the Amendment by three-fourths of the states. Illinois, Michigan and Washington led the charge for ratification, and by August, 1920, thirty-two additional states had followed their lead. All eyes focused on Tennessee, the last state necessary to achieve the 36 state ratifications needed to pass the Amendment into law.
On August 18, 1920, 96 members of the lower House of Tennessee Legislature voted on a motion to table the resolution. The resulting tie, 48-48, forced a vote on a motion to concur. The chamber erupted into chaos as both sides expected no defectors, therefore another tied vote and defeat.
After much debate, the role was finally called for concurrence. After 48 pro-suffrage votes, one short of the majority, Representative Harry T. Burns (R), of McMinn County became the center of attention. Anti-suffragists smirked and goaded the pro-suffragists, knowing that Rep. Burns had consistently voted against the ratification. What no one knew was that Rep. Burns had just received a letter from his mother:
“Dear Son:
Hurrah and vote for suffrage! Don’t keep them in doubt! I notice some of the speeches against. They were bitter. I have been watching to see how you stood, but have not noticed anything yet. Don’t forget to be a good boy and help Mrs. Catt put the ‘rat’ in ratification.
Your mother”
Fingering his mother’s letter in his pocket, Rep. Burns took a deep breath, looked around, and said “aye.” Pandemonium broke loose as the vote tallied to 49 for, 47 against, and Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the 19th Amendment.
The next day, Rep. Burns was called before the House to explain his change of heart. Rep. Burns responded:
“I know that a mother’s advice is always safest for her boy to follow, and my mother wanted me to vote for the ratification.”
On August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment, women’s right to vote, became law.
The Tennessee Certificate of Ratification of the 19th Amendment, signed by A. H. Roberts, Governor of Tennessee, is one of the most important documents in women’s history. Without the vote of Rep. Burns and the subsequent ratification by Tennessee, women would have once again suffered defeat, and the fight for inclusion regardless of sex would have died a noisy death or still be embroiled in battle today.
The ratification passed into law an Amendment that not only acts as a catalyst and base for equal rights regardless of color, religion, sex, etc., but offers up irrefutable proof to our nation’s voters that one single state or one single vote can affect history. Increased knowledge of this document, and it’s history, would be a strong message to all non-white, non-male voters to honor the sacrifices and struggles of those that fought for us by exercising their right to vote.

There are unconfirmed reports based on phone banking efforts to reach out to Super D’s that 8 previously Obama SD’s, expressed that, given the opportunity, they would vote for Hillary at the convention.
I heard about an interview Will Bower of PUMA did recently, where he said delegates are starting to say theyll vote for Hillary in Denver if the DNC do the right thing and run an open and fair convention. That means a roll call vote with Hillarys name put into nomination and on the ballot.

I can’t answer for the Clyburn experience. All I can say is that the police will likely do a threat assessment to determine whether or not it’s a credible threat. Then they can advise Murphy what to do.
If the person was just blowing off steam, there’s no reason to call attention to it beyond police involvement. Doing so might only bring out copycats.
As Pumas, we always look out for each other. Sometimes that means we have to stand down and let things dissipate. After all, we don’t want to increase the risk for Murphy, do we?
I can only go by my experience responding to bomb threats as a firefighter and in-house emergency responder. However, we have other Pumas with background in law enforcement. I’m sure they can better advise Murphy than I can.

It’s true that police sometimes don’t give threats as much consideration as they deserve. However, please don’t judge all police by the actions of a few.
None of us know the details of the threat, so we’re in no position to assess the credibility. Murphy has plenty of support from other Pumas who are or have been in law enforcement. Trust them to guide her.

Listen, as angry as we all are over this, and certainly Murphy has more of a right than any of us, we all need to be realistic also. One email, or one phone call, does not a problem make.
There would have to be consistency or persistence for Murphy or any of us to be concerned. Until that happens it is a one time event and should not be taken seriously.
Still, that does not mean that one sits back and hides their head in the sand.

“A large phone banking effort to the super d’s combined with Obama’s flips and poor presumptive nominee performance, etc have yielded doubts within the super delegates, enough that 3 elected and 5 DNC members have confided that should they have the opportunity to do so, they will vote for Hillary.”
Maybe this is why BHO and the Toxic Trio are pushing so hard to keep Hillary off the roll call ballot eh? Ive been wondering what theyre so afraid of now it looks like we have part of the answer.

Regarding the New Yorker Magazine/Cover: Did anyone catch Sean Hannity’s radio program this afternoon. He had 2 guests debating the impact of the cover. The one who was taking the Pro position said that anyone who was aware of the magazine new that it was satirical likening it a SNL skit. He said that the editor and writer were playing up all of the “hysterical” and “negatives” that have been thrown out in BO and MO’s way. The Con position went immediately into the race card and broadly said that “there is a grassroot establishment that is responsible for spreading the lies and hate that the picture itself depicts.” He tried to accuse to the media outside the print media in sponsoring this. Hannity jumped on him real quick and wanted NAMES who anyone in the TV or Radio traffic that accused Barack of being anything that the picture associated him with. It was too good—you heard–well…mmmm…ahhh…well…you know??? Hannity kept at him and he finally could not name any specific person but put the blame on a “GRASSROOT ATTEMPT to picture Barack in the way that the article did.” He further said that the magazine played right into the hands of these movement. Hannity again asked who he was talking about. Ahh..weelll…Sean…come on..you know? Then Sean had enough and started quoting him with “typical white folks” and “bitter, gun clinging, bible toting….” and then he quoted Michelle’s “for the first time I am proud of My Country..” By that time, the guy cut in and said—in a whinny voice at that—Sean, come on….don’t say things like that…talking that way doesn’t help this discussion.” Well duh! The Truth doesn’t help? Sorry for the length. Had to get it out.

A death threat via electronic communications, is against the law. A death threat should NEVER be ignored especially since one has no way of knowing who the schmuck on the other of the other end is, what their psychological frame of mind is, whether they have a history of mental illness, etc. If nothing else the android should have to pay consequences… that will grow’d them real fast.
Persistent consistent harrassment should not be ignored either. Sans death or any other kind of threats to harm one physically can be recorded (electronically or written by hand) as to exact time and what was said.
After ten days, the diary is then handed over to the telephone company. They trace the origin of the calls, and contact the police, who then visit the perpetrator.
As women, we don’t have to take any crap from the androids. It’s enough already. It’s generations of women. It’s thousands of years of abuse already. Ain’t gonna take it no more. ’nuff said.

Also last night Marylandpuma found a troll. How did you do it Marylandpuma? How do you know when someone is a troll.
I have been a member since the second week Puma was created.
I don’t post a lot but try to read as many posts as I can. I do e-mail and send letters when asked. The times I have posted noone ever answers. Yesterday, I finally received answers to two of my posts. However, the rest of the night I posted out in cyberspace somewhere.
I know the nature of the beast makes following the conversations difficult, but a lot of the times it seems
as if everyone is having secret conversations somewhere else. Then coming back to the Pumapac site and continuing them.
Since I have your attention (I hope), does anyone know what happened to Brian Knoxsville TN? He posted frequently before July 4th but I have seen nothing since. I hope I haven’t offended anyone. Well… sorry to say, many years ago I was being stalled and had threatening phone calls. I was so paranoid I wouldn’t let my son out of my sight, because the police told me they could not do anything unless I was attacked first.

How do you catch them, you ask? Well first of all they think we are all stupid and usually post just slightly off the mark messages, which stir up the PUMA instinct to pounce, or they are so sickening sweet we want to gag. THey usually go away on their own when they don’t hear what they want to hear, or can’t stir up enough trouble. BUT….. that is just my observation.

I’m sorry the police weren’t more helpful in your situation.
I’ve been frustrated myself when law enforcement wouldn’t address illegal conduct that hurt me, so I can sympathize.
But here’s another point to consider … To borrow a phrase from the pundits, if we “give legs” to the story of Murphy receiving a death threat, it takes us “off message.”
We all love Murphy and want to keep her safe. But we can’t afford to let precious media time be taken up with that story now when we have little more than a month to do whatever we can to help Hillary be nominated.
Media stories about crackpots threatening Murphy are just that … media stories about crackpots. They don’t emphasize Hillary’s strengths and expose Obama’s weaknesses. So we need to stay “on message.”
I should add that it is from April of this year, not today. LOL

My two cents. Murphy should report every threat or seeming threat (as should everyone). The police won’t do anything because for the most part these threats are meaningless. However, it will create a legal paper trail. This can be used if anything does get serious or in the future for civil actions.

In case you missed it…
I decided to open an account with PUMA to see if what everyone was saying about them was true. I signed in as a Hillary supporter and made some probing remarks. The PUMA People were supportive of not using any racial comments and seemed fair about being unfairly critical of Obama. There were viewpoints I disagreed with, but nothing on the deep end. I did not stay too long before going to bed.
When I woke up the next day, they had tracked down my dashboard and left a message on one of my blogs to say that I had been “PUMA Pounced” – appearantly, they used my email address to track down my info here and then trash me on their page. They thought I was a paid Obama operative, because my name had 233 at the end (which is a classroom number I once taught in) They made the normal snarky comments one would make about a troll and moved on. Given that I did present myself falsely, I understood their concerns and reactions – I also think how we react when we have McCain’s people in here.
First, I give them credit for being able to track down my information so quickly – it shows that they are well-organized and vigilant about Hillary Clinton’s support. Second, most bloggers seemed more determined to support Hillary than eventually vote for McCain over Obama – for me, that would be the ultimate betrayal. Third, I see a lot of ourselves in them, with the notable exception that the sting of Hillary’s defeat still has them determined what they perceive (right or wrong) to fight for a just cause. Finally, like a good spy movie, they have people that come over here too:)
To any PUMA person reading this here, if you read my messages, you will see there was no divisiveness or malice on my part that was intended. To me, that game does not belong in the Obama campaign, and is reflective of the Republican tactics. What I did want to know is if your intentions and actions represent what is still best about the Democratic or what is worst about the Republicans. Thus far, I concluded that in spite of your initial reaction to my perceived intent, your heart is in the right place.

If you read to the end of the article, it’s Hillary’s fault again.
Since it appears we have many talented PUMAS regarding law, etc…I have two questions:
1.) Would I be breaking any law if I took down Barack stickers attached to City Light Posts? There is an intersection that has one of those big electric fuse boxes/whatever you call them—and it clearly states that it is “property of the city” and “unlawful to damage or alter.” It seems obvious that the ones who put them their broke the law…and I have a feeling if I called the city and complained, all I would get would be a giant YAWN or get a life type of feedback.
2.) There is a yard sign two houses down with the Oracle. They have it displayed between 2 new budding pecan trees and fresh mulch. It is disgusting. I was out doing some errands and the friend I was with bought some flip flops for an upcoming weekend trip. I bought some bright pink ones–2 pairs–would I be doing any harm by placing one pair on each side of the yard sign?

I agree with you there. I think it’s time to drop the topic because I don’t believe it’s good to focus on the negative, it just gives the topic more momentum. And doesn’t help Murphy, probably just makes her worried.

the answer to your question depends on where you live. for example, my city has an ordinance about posting things on light poles and electric poles…so taking them down wouldn’t be an issue where I live.
with regards to the yard sign…do you live in a planned community? mine doesn’t allow yard signs so I can contact my association to have them remove it. as far as the flipflops, again this depends on your city. generally, as long as you have no intent to commit a crime and have no damage, trespassing will not be an issue. now if your neighbor catches you they may be able to place you on a “no trespass” order with the PD and in the future you would be charged. again,l different places have different rules so I can’t say with certainty.

This new system became known as “pinstripe patronage,” because the key to winning was not rewarding voters with jobs but rewarding donors with government contracts.
E. J. Dionne, Jr., of the Washington Post, wrote about this transition in a 1999 column after Daley was reëlected. Dionne wrote about a young Barack Obama, who artfully explained how the new pinstripe patronage worked: a politician rewards the law firms, developers, and brokerage houses with contracts, and in return they pay for the new ad campaigns necessary for reëlection. “They do well, and you get a $5 million to $10 million war chest,” Obama told Dionne. It was a classic Obamaism: superficially critical of some unseemly aspect of the political process without necessarily forswearing the practice itself. Obama was learning that one of the greatest skills a politician can possess is candor about the dirty work it takes to get and stay elected.

Rasmussen Shows Clinton Would Do Better Against McCain
Rasmussen Reports released a poll showing that in a matchup between Barack Obama and John McCain, Obama would not do as well as Hillary Clinton would do if she were the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Obama does well if he were were running against George Bush, and Obama would even have a decent margin if he were up against former Republican candidates Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee.
The Rasmussen report also shows that if the Democrats had chosen Hillary Clinton as their nominee, she would be leading by a larger margin against John McCain than Obama is.
The poll results also show that Obama would have an easier go of it against two of McCain’s chief rivals for the Republican nomination. The presumptive Democratic nominee leads former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney by eight points 49% to 41% and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee 50% to 39%.
However, McCain fares better against Obama than he does against two other prominent Democrats. New York Senator Hillary Clinton leads McCain by eight points, 50% to 42%. Former Vice President Al Gore, the Democratic presidential nominee in 2000, leads McCain 50% to 43%.
These numbers help explain why Election 2008 is competitive even though events so heavily favor the Democrats — because the Republicans are on course to nominate their strongest possible general election candidate but the Democrats are not. Perhaps even more importantly, the data suggests that voters don’t see a potential McCain Administration as the third term of President Bush.
Emphasis mine and something that Hillary Clinton supporters are bound to agree with.
Considering the trouble in the Democratic paradise, maybe, just maybe, it isn’t a bad idea for the Democrats to hold an open floor roll call vote at their convention, as Clinton supporters are challenging them to do.
It is not beyond the realm of possibilities that the Democrats would perhaps decide to choose their strongest candidate instead of their weakest one.
If the Democrats lose in November and John McCain wins the presidency, Obama and the DNC will have nobody to blame but themselves.

Yep you got me back. I have been here awhile reading and taking what action I could but had to take a little time to regroup. I, like so many were so emotionally involved in the primaries by the end I had very little left to give. Then I started hearing about PUMA, Just Say No Deal, Hillvilliagers, No Quarter and so on. Slowly my emotional strength began to grow and mend. I saw the spirit and determination to right a wrong. I saw the chance we have to set things right not only for now but for our future. We are the ones who have to take up and continue the fight. Many misunderstand us when they say we are doing this out of hate and with malice. They don’t see that we are doing this out of love and respect for our country, our party, our future. We speak for those who can not. Our words are of hope. Hope that we as one can become many. So yes I am happy to be a part of such a wonderful family and I will continue this quest even if, and I pray we do not, have to pick it up again in 2011. My only hope is that the delegates sooner then later “GET IT”.

Toni Preckwinkle apparently is a Super Delegate/ Obama Mentor from Illinois that apparently signed up to be an Super Delegate for Obama even though she was disgruntled with him after not returning favors of helping people advance careers in Chicago that helped him get his Senate Seat. Preckwinkle has further concerns about him because of his recent Public Financing flip flop and thinks he may be a pure political animal.
With this much eating at this particular Super Delegate can we find out if she is still backing Obama and if she is if she could use a bit of (Puma persuasion) if you know what I mean.

But for me, I think part of the reason I get responses is because I will take the time to do a cut/copy and paste portions of the original post so that folks do not have to back peddle that much.
I also use this neat little program called TextPad, downloadable at http://www.textpad.com …. So what I do is go up to the browsers EDIT, SELECT ALL, COPY and then paste it into my textpad for easier reading. It’s got this neat little feature of highlighting the line you are on in yellow so you can keep your place.
Then, when I want to respond, I just copy from there and past it back into the comment box here. I can also do a *fast* file search. For example, when I want to read whatever Murphy says, I put her name in and I can get a running tally of all her responses. I can do the same on my own screen name and keep track of whomever replies to me. I figure, if they take the time to reply, I should at least respond in kind. Yet that is not always possible. And sometimes… sometimes I am in the middle of typing something out, and all of a sudden, everyone says, UPSTAIRS folks… and all my typing for nought.
Guess what I am saying is, this affords me the opportunity to reply to several posts at a sitting, thereby *inceasing* the chance of anyone replying.
The other trick I use when I am starting to post to a new blog is, … I will pick out 3 or 6 people, or a TYPE of question I am interested in and then flow from there.
Sooner or later, someone is bound to pick up on it.

I read something some months ago from Andy Martin and was so excited that someone was criticizing BO in print – back then, this was a rarity – I e-mailed him, asking him to pursue a couple of other issues about BO that had bothered me and articles about which I had been unable to find on the internet. He wrote back, assuring me he would not let up on BO, encouraging me to send him any other information I uncovered.

Let me jump in here as someone who watches this from outside the country. As an Australian, we see the American election process from a distance. This is what we see. Speaches, placards, hype, emotion and everything over the top.
How can you have anything different when you start the campaigning hype in school? If we vote for school captain then we are told their names and we have a secret ballot. There is no campaigning for the position. They give one speach and that is all. There is no jostling for popularity with gimicks and gifts and badges and all that. America makes their politicians need to treat their campaign like a ‘rendition of the Academy Awards’ simply because, over the years, you have encouraged it to become that way.
Your candidates recruit movie stars and pop stars and celebrities to indorse them to win people over. Of course it then becomes about show business. How can it not? The campaigns are geared to get an emotional response.
Whether we like it or not, unless the candidates for leaders of our country are phenominal communicators, we will no longer have a leader who doesn’t ‘look’ acceptable. The ability to win an election purely on what we say went away as soon as the news movie reel came into being.
[name deleted], you may wish that America wasn’t treating this election like it was voting for the next American Idol. The sad fact is, however, that all politicians use spin. Spin is not about truth. It is all about appearances. Until we, as western countries educate and teach our populations to read spin, propoganda and manipulation then spin will always be what stirs and leads the majority of voters. Most voters both here in Australia and over in the US only listen to the headlines. We are, unfortunately, like sheep. We follow. Very few of us break free of mob mentality and think for ourselves. Politicians must use this characteristics of humanity to win the competiton they want to win.
As far as I understand it, living here on the other side of the world. The US election culture uses soundbites, hype and meetings to create emotion and to encourage others to join the mob. As long as people respond this way this is the way electioneering will continue. Truth and policy will come second.

In answer to your first question. While you would be removing the sticker to be a good citizen, it’s always best to let the City deal with their property, lest your actions be misunderstood (Or twisted into something that they weren’t). Don’t bother calling the City unless you have connections. You’re probably right in assuming that would be the response you would get.
As for your second question, it is my understanding that it might be considered trespassing as you were not invited onto their private property. However, as you wouldn’t be doing something damaging, I can’t see any law enforcement really caring.
Just be careful not to hurt the plant.

Please notify me when Senator Obama decides on which plan he is going to use to remove the troops from Iraq. Thusfar I think he has 2. As we all do with car shopping, I understand that he has to shop around and see which of his plans will get him the most votes. I can understand that the well being of the country is so much less important to him than his own political career. This is not uncommon and I hope to hear that he will continue to pander back and forth to the voters. Please also notify me when Senator Obama intends to answer McCain’s call to debate him in the Town Hall Meetings. While I understand that Senator Obama is not comfortable when he doesn’t have pre written words in front of him to refer to, it is really in his best interests to go to these meetings as we can finally see what he really stands for. At least, what he really stands for this week. I look forward to seeing what his plan for Iraq will be next week and I hope that if the efforts in Iraq start to go poorly, he will know enough to be sure to switch his views once again and state, on his website and on TV. Oh and by the way. I can’t BELIEVE that the New Yorker would stoop so low as to portray Senator Obama in the life. I mean… Can you believe that they would actually print the truth like that? It’s HORRIBLE!

Big news folks it looks like our efforts in contacting those Superdelegates are starting to pay off so keep on writing to them (ok maybe Donna Bs a waste of time). There are unconfirmed reports based on phone banking efforts to reach out to Super D’s that 8 previously Obama SD’s, expressed that, given the opportunity, they would vote for Hillary at the convention.
I heard about an interview Will Bower of PUMA did recently, where he said delegates are starting to say theyll vote for Hillary in Denver if the DNC do the right thing and run an open and fair convention. That means a roll call vote with Hillarys name put into nomination and on the ballot.
This is what I found this morning when I googled delegates switch to Hillary. I have not found any indication that 8 delegates actually switched other than at NoQuarter. That story came out a month or so ago but as I said, I read that it was only a rumor. I think if they are switching, it needs to be kept secret so those delegates don’t get harrassed.

Hello all, this is my first. Just wanted to let you know I saw on the news the reason Obama shut down his site. It wasn’t spam. He had a comment on his site that the Surge was not working in Iraq. That comment was removed. I can’t help but wonder what made him come to this great revelation that the surge is now working since he hasn’t even been to Iraq to see. I would guess another case of an unfounded statement against McCain that he best withdraw from his site. Obama is slowing moving against his promise to withdraw troops. Although I knew this would happen. It was an empty campaign promise. A promise he knew when he made he couldn’t keep.

Normally, every few days I have someone yelling something at me. But I stand for what I believe and I won’t back down.
Eventually they’ll understand why we’re resisting the Obama campaign so strongly. I keep telling people that in the horrible circumstance that Obama is elected POTUS, they will all be crying the blues about thier hero in less than a year. And as a matter of fact, with all the flip flops here lately, several thousands of BO supporters already are rethinking their positions and redirecting thier support–and it’s only July!

We are trying to defeat Barack Obama, so it makes no sense for me to donate to him. Every time you write, I think I will make a separate donation to PUMA PAC. I met him several times during the primary’s here, I do keep in contact with his office via email and phone calls! I also keep in contact with several Mayors of the surrounding cities, who campaigned very hard for Hillary, and still support her, although the mayor of my city is a big gulper of the kool-aid, I am very outspoken in my city, therefore being watched very closely, but that does not stop me! You will not be disappointed if you did. It is a sophisticated NotePad that does not have a page limitation, you can number each line to keep count of where you are… great for anyone who does coding… Plus it can also be used as an html editor.
I’ve been using textpad for years. Had it for two years before I ever purchsed it. And not sorry when I did because when you buy it, all future upgrades are FREE.
I always look for the lest expensive software. For example, I’ve been using a neat little graphic utility called ViewPro (or ViewPrint) for years. Again, it is free download, but like textpad will not stop functioning if you do not purchase it in 30 days. But when you do, all subsequent upgrades are free.

I composed a new letter to superdels, a slightly different approach…I hope it expresses what I am trying to say…please advise:
Dear……………………..,
I urge you to support Senator Clinton with your superdelegate vote.
I am sure you have heard all the reasons why Hillary Clinton’s supporters believe that she is the best qualified candidate to be the president. I do not intend to repeat those.
Likewise I know that you have heard all the reasons why Barack Obama’s supporters believe the same of him.
My request is more that you make your decision based on the core principles of democracy and the DNC. Senator Obama has not been elected by the majority of the voters. He was selected for whatever reasons by the corrupt leadership of the Party and special interest groups and power brokers and big money and political insiders and corporations and biased news media.
If the outcome of the primary was based on democratic principles and Barack Obama won, I would be applauding your support of him. That was not the case.
If the outcome of the primary was based on democratic principles Hillary Clinton, not Barack Obama, would be the presumptive nominee.
The outcome of this primary election can be honorable, that is, achieved thru truly democratic principles and processes. Or it can be dishonorable… achieved thru corrupt and dishonest processes. The former will serve to show the world the genius of this great experiment we call Democracy. The latter will show the folly of the idea because the vote of the majority did not prevail, instead, the decision of the corrupt leadership determined the outcome and democracy failed.
If we do not demand that the DNC be accountable for their actions, the outcome of the election can never be legitimized. Democracy fails. If this happens, we can never trust in the process again, for democracy is something that must work every time or it doesn’t work at all. If Democracy fails, America fails. We lose our status in the world as the champion for human rights, fair and honest elections and the model for government “by the people and for the people”.
History will record the events of this election for our future generations. Do you really want your descendents to read about the shame of the corruption of the DNC and know that you played a part in the destruction of democracy in America? Wouldn’t you rather be remembered as one of the defenders of democracy who stood up to the corrupt leadership and stood for the will of the people and the integrity of the process? Your vote in August affects more than one election. It affects the future and the integrity of Democracy and America’s place in history.
I urge you to support Senator Clinton at the Convention, therefore expressing the will of the majority of the democratic voters and preserving American democratic values.

You know what would be really cool? Shifting campaign finance bogeymen
Obama, in opting of campaign finance, used to cite dangerous third-party groups which have yet to materialize.
But, as Jonathan Martin points out to me, in a today’s interview with The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, he seems to have backed off that.

OBAMA: Well, campaign finance, there’s no doubt that that was a shift in recognizing that we could not broker a deal with the Republicans that would prevent the Republican National Committee or the Republican Governors Association or all these other organizations, that are already spending millions of dollars against us, that we could not contain them within a public financing system. So the broader point, Gwen, is if you compare sort of my shift in emphasis on issues that I’ve been proposing for years, like say, faith-based initiatives, which have raised questions in the press, if you compare that to John McCain –
The RGA doesn’t appear to be emerging as a major factor, so he’s basically reduced to pointing to the Republican Party fundraising as his reason for opting out. Which is substantially less dramatic than the original argument.

Your letter is well written. However, I fear it may fall on deaf ears. Time and time again, the DNC and superdelegates have proven that they don’t care. And they don’t believe that Hillary received the majority of the votes. This is due, in part, to the goofy way votes are counted and delegates are awarded in caucus states. Plus everyone skews the numbers in their favor, even Hillary. And unfortunately, the numbers are too close to claim a clear victory.
If you want to stick with the theme of representing the voters, then perhaps you can bring in the superdelegates’ responsibility to speak for the millions of voters who were unable to participate in the caucuses. How would they vote if those states held primaries instead? Perhaps you can raise the point about all the people who have had buyer’s remorse as they’ve learned more about this flawed candidate. Whom would they choose if they were voting today?
The superdelegates have a difficult job with sometimes conflicting interests. They’re supposed to represent the will of the people, which in this case is too close to call with certainty. They’re supposed to vote for the person who they believe will be the best President, which may or may not be the top vote-getter. They want, most of all, to beat the Republicans in November, which doesn’t necessarily mean picking the person who will be the best President.
When we write to the superdelegates about the shame and corruption, we fail to get their attention. Yes, they know we’re dissatisfied, but they write us off as insignificant. It’s a persuasive argument only with those who already agree with our position but need a little injection of courage to do the right thing.
Instead, I think we have to keep focused on what’s in it for them. How will it benefit them (the superdelegates and the DNC) to nominate Hillary instead of Obama? And what arguments are persuasive enough that they’d be willing to weather the backlash of such a dramatic reversal?
Can you imagine the uproar if Hillary is nominated instead of Obama? The DNC and superdelegates would have to be very confident that they can save face and put a positive spin on it.
That’s the challenge in any letter writing we do. It’s one thing to convince superdelegates that nominating Hillary would be the right thing to do. It’s another to convince them that taking such a gamble is worth sticking their necks out for.
If they stick with Obama and Obama loses in November, they can blame it on Obama. They won’t look in the mirror and acknowledge that they screwed up and missed a golden opportunity. But if they nominate Hillary and Hillary loses in November, they take all the heat for reversing course. That’s a big, huge, scary proposition for them. And that’s the hurdle we must get past if we’re to convince them to nominate Hillary.

The other day we were hearing that MSNBC was saying that Hillary was ahead in the delegate count and that the Supers put BHO over the top. Someone just sent me this link and it has BHO ahead. Does anybody have the MSNBC link to compare the numbers or any other numbers to compare with these.

Obama is weak in states like PA and MI. I think we to focus in states hes weak in….We have an allied in Steve Corbett Wilk radio in PA we need to take advantage of all avenues. Maybe search for an allied in MI and Ohio ,If Obama gets in early poll trouble in PA, OH or MI the DNC will change course, it’ll be obvious hes a loser

A July 15 comment on SavagePolitics.com notes that national polls should not be trusted, given that they are often paid for by advocates of the candidate. This is not news! The comment went on, however, to “wish” that PumaPac or the Just Say NO coalition would announce that they were going to do a national poll that could be trusted to reflect statiscally accurate data.

Here is the letter I sent Senator Byah:
Dear Senator Byah:
I am a long time democrat, living in Indiana. I have been active in several campaigns, and have always had your sign in my yard whenever you were running for governor or the Senate. I am a long time Hillary Clinton Supporter. I worked very hard as a volunteer in this year’s primary. I have never cast a republican vote in a presidential race in the 36 years that I have been voting.
I am very disturbed by the actions of the Democratic Party. I am almost reluctant to call us democratic anymore. The more I research and investigate, add numbers, and scrutinize the results of the primary election, the more I am disturbed by the graft and corruption that I find. I am becoming more and more convinced that Mr. Obama did not win the primary, indeed, he lost by a sizeable margin: to Hillary. Why then is he the presumed nominee?
Now I hear that there will not be the traditional roll call vote at the convention, for all of the candidates that ran this year. This angers me. Hillary, and the rest, should be allowed to have their names called and their delegates acknowledged. This is a shameful act by an ego driven candidate and a control freak chairman.
I notice that you are out campaigning for Mr. Obama. Why? Do you really support him, or is this just more of that party unity that we have heard so much about? I would like to express in the strongest possible terms, I do not think it is appropriate for a Hillary supporter such as yourself to be out campaigning for someone who: A. lost the election; B. is only the presumptive nominee until after the convention.
I would like to remind us all that the ‘super delegates’ are the ones who SELECTED Mr. Obama: HE WAS NOT the choice of the Democratic rank and file voter. It is entirely appropriate to hold any endorsement until after the convention. It is entirely appropriate for you and all the other super delegates from Indiana to vote for Hillary on a first ballot at the convention, as that would be doing the will of the people of Indiana.
I beg you to please push for her to have a place on that first ballot at the convention. I also beg you to stop the premature support of Mr. Obama, he is not the choice of the people. I also ask that you reconsider throwing your support behind him on that first ballot.
I may have been able to force myself to support Mr. Obama before the recent FISA vote, but not now. I will not vote for him. That forces me to try to find some way to put Senator Clinton up for nomination and fight for her to be the one to lead us out of the troubles our nation faces. Sincerely,

I heard heard on the Rush Limbaugh show that 8 super delegates anounced today they are switching their vote to Hillary. The reasons they gave was they are tired of BHO’s move to the center and all his flip flops. Has anyone else heard this?
