Got home late tonight from work and there was a message from a neighbor of mine who invited me to an Obama meeting at her home next week- a national community organizer will be in town and even though she knew I had been (and still am for Hillary) as evidenced by my multitude of bumper stickers and yard signs, she still thought to reach out and invite me - she was quite respectful but wondered if I may be open to listen to another point of view.
I find I am increasingly being criticized for not jumping on the the BO bandwagon and accused of treason for the Democratic party etc. etc. I "should" be voting for Obama unless I want a third George Bush term, yadda yadda yaddda - I should not stay home, I should not vote for McCain.
Well, I have news for all my colleagues, friends and others - the 11th Commandmant is "Thou Shall Not Should on Thyself"....I will not do something because someone says I should - everytime I have gone against my gut in my life, the choice has been wrong. And my gut tells me Obama is really bad news, and we have a litany of evidence to prove it....but teflon man still keeps dusting himself off and moving forward.
Anyway, I will respond politely to my neighbor that I appreciate her invitation, but cannot possibly vote for Obama and it would be a waste of my time and hers.
More from my friend (an die hard Hill supporter in N.Y.) below:
ELECTABILITY WATCH (EW)
All,
We are nearing the 4th week of the ELECTABILITY WATCH. Join us!

We are beginning to reach SDs thousand of times a week, reminding them that their only job in Denver is to select the electable Democrat who can get us back to the White House, and she is HRC.

1. ANOTHER VERSION OF THE SEAL: If you want to register your dismay at Obama's grandiose, inappropriate hope to speak at the Brandenburg Gate in Germany, please write or call to the: German Embassy 4645 Reservoir Road NW Washington, DC, 20007 (202) 298-4000

2. MORTGAGE MISCHIEF: Judicial Watch today filed ethics complaints alleging that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, broke the rules when he accepted a discounted deal on a 2005 mortgage loan, as first reported last week by The Post.

Americans ought to be suspicious when a United States Senator such as Barack Obama, obtains a sweetheart mortgage deal," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement. "We have serious concerns that Senator Obama's mortgage may have violated the law and Senate ethics rules." The group filed separate complaints with the Federal Election Commission and the U.S. Senate Ethics Committee.

"It appears that due to his position as a United States Senator, Barack Obama received improper special treatment from Northern Trust resulting in an illicit 'gift' which has a value of almost $125,000 in interest savings".

3. FUNDRAISING??? Larry Johnson at No Quarter reports that "I got a call this afternoon from the Barack Obama campaign. (Apparently, they have hired Meyer Associates, who can be reached at 301 851-4961, to help them with fund raising.) The woman on the other end of the line opened with a pitch about Barack Obama representing "hope and change," at which point I cut her off. I recounted the litany of Barack's flip flops. Imagine my surprise (and my delight) when the woman sighed and said, "I agree with you."

She went on to tell me that 70% of the people she had talked to during the last two days were telling her the same thing. Most, she said, were unwilling to vote for McCain and were vowing to stay home. Needless to say the fundraising was not going well. I mentioned that I had heard that Barack's campaign failed to reach their fundraising goals for the second quarter. She confirmed that this was true. We had a very pleasant conversation. I wished her good luck and hung up.
4. Obama fundraiser host emphasizes: No Money For Hillary Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama may have presented a unified image last night in New York, but tensions between supporters of the two candidates continue to simmer...
For true-blue Obama loyalists, therefore, any request for money these days is being closely examined. To this end, when Ed Chandler, a Chicago venture capitalist and Obama donor, sent out an e-mail last week promoting an intimate dinner with the nominee for high-dollar donors he made clear to specify where the dollars were going.

"NONE OF THE MONEY RAISED WILL GO TO PAY OFF HILLARY CLINTON'S DEBTS," Chandler wrote to potential givers in an e-mail obtained by Politico. "While you may have heard that Sen. Obama has asked people to make a separate donation to the Clinton campaign for that purpose, neither the law, nor the ethic of this campaign, will allow for any transfer of funds from Obama For America to Clinton."

Money raised beyond the individual limits, Chandler notes, will instead go to the DNC.

5. CONSISTENCY IS THE HOBGOBLIN OF SMALL MINDS:

a) Statement from Sen. Obama's Office on the FISA Bill
Monday, December 17, 2007
For Immediate Release Contact:Michael Ortiz, 202-228-5566

"Senator Obama unequivocally opposes giving retroactive immunity to telecommunications companies and has cosponsored Senator Dodd's efforts to remove that provision from the FISA bill. Granting such immunity undermines the constitutional protections Americans trust the Congress to protect. Senator Obama supports a filibuster of this bill, and strongly urges others to do the same. It's not clear whether he can return for the vote, but under the Senate rules, the side trying to end a filibuster must produce 60 votes to cut off debate. Whether he is present for the vote or not, Senator Obama will not be among those voting to end the filibuster."

b) FRAN WALSH ON MOVE-ON: Wow, they must be desperate today! I replied to Wexler: Where were you when Hillary was attacked by sexism from Obama, and DNC, and fellow democrats? I told him good luck with Obama, and Rev. Wright, and Rezko, and William Ayers!
Click here to tell FOX:"FOX must stop injecting racism, prejudice, and fear into our political dialogue. We intend to hold FOX, its advertisers, and its personalities accountable for FOX's attempts to smear the Obamas."

Dear Frances,

Below, you'll find a very important email from MoveOn, regarding election coverage on Fox News. I encourage every one of you to sign their petition and forward this to your friends.

Thanks,

Congressman Robert Wexler

From MoveOn:

Right now, FOX is trying to paint Barack Obama as foreign, un-American, suspicious, and scary. They're trying to send Americans the message that our country's first viable black candidate for President is not "one of us."

We've seen this before from FOX. They won't stop until it becomes too painful to continue—until the public calls them out and advertisers start getting worried.

Now is the time to draw a line in the sand by putting FOX on notice that their behavior won't be tolerated....

p.s. Can't join you all in a glass of wine, (I had enough to drink by 1980) but will relax vicariously through you all. good night...Lorelai

MsBinMD,

I cannot thank you enough. You have helped me pay down Hillary's debt, the debt of a woman who will hold my heart forever. For your actions, I am truly eternally grateful.

...And actually (chuckle), I'm a man. I know there are not too many of my gender on here, but I am honored to be one of those proud and few.

Good morning everyone. I have just been doing some back peddling and came across sereral responses to me on yesterday’s thread. Please know that I have at least read through them and would like to thank those of you who responded. THANX

Right now I am on a site called, “Democratic Convention or The Hill” and doing a search for: DNC Rules committee and coming across some interesting stuff.

http://demconvention.thehill.com/index.php?option=com_search&Itemid=99999999&searchword=Bylaws+Committee&submit=Search&searchphrase=exact&ordering=newest

    This one takes the cake:
http://demconvention.thehill.com/content/view/305/64/

“The committee did not break for lunch, opting instead to deal with Michigan immediately.”

That is NOT how I remembered it from watching C-Span. They were suppose to take a 1 hour lunch and were gone about 2 1/2 to 3 hour lunch.

So guess this site is biased and not to be trusted. Ah well…. Way too funny. What they call spin, I call downright lies.

Try this one instead,

Search The Hill for: Bylaws Committee

Results
http://demconvention.thehill.com/index.php?option=com_search&Itemid=99999999&searchword=Bylaws+Committee&submit=Search&searchphrase=exact&ordering=newest

Note: this one gives 9 pages, and the quote I did above was for the 3rd document down, entitled:

3. Obama gets behind Florida's delegate plan

That's where it says at the bottom they did not break for lunch. Amazing. What they call spin I call downright being lied to.

Good morning everyone. I have just been doing some back peddling and came across sereral responses to me on yesterday’s thread. Please know that I have at least read through them and would like to thank those of you who responded. THANX

Right now I am on a site called, “The Hill” and doing a search for: DNC Rules committee and coming across some interesting stuff.

http://demconvention.thehill.com/index.php?option=com_search&Itemid=99999999&searchword=DNC+Rules+and+Bylaws&submit=Search&searchphrase=exact&ordering=newest

This one takes the cake:

“The committee did not break for lunch, opting instead to deal with Michigan immediately.”

That is NOT how I remembered it from watching C-Span. They were suppose to take a 1 hour lunch and were gone about 2 1/2 to 3 hour lunch.
