Just read in denver paper move to invesco gonna cost DNC at least another 3 million! Plus trying to figure out security..how to have it in 2 places at once…and moving people the .6 mile between the 2. Gonna be fun!!!
Let *61 pay for Senator Clinton’s acceptance speech at Invesco and then he can use it for his farewell speech! I am so glad he is paying for her and her speech. Hee hee
Pepsi center only has 21,000 seats. Invesco has 76, 125 plus room for 20, 000 on the field. Is this guy an egomaniac or what??? Also has a map of where the protest area will be. It’s in the southwest corner of lot a. by a main street but not where any of the major figures will be entering the center.
I think that we should hit the DNC HARD on the money wasting aspect of this Invesco fiasco. Is this the party that cares about poverty? If so, how can they justify such grandstanding?
Lawyers from ACLU gonna add invesco to the lawsuit against the city and the Secret Service. Protester groups are claiming first amendment rights to be within sight and sound of the delegates. Ain’t no where near them where they are now!!!
This is from Huffington Post:: check it out

I’m impressed, well well done, just like a good steak on the barby
Second paper talks about how he’s being compared to JFK giving his acceptance speech at Los Angeles Coliseum in 1960 plus the fact that it 45th anniversary of MLK speech. Also points out that now ss has to increase their perimeter to include both venues and that since it will take place between 4-7 pm major roads (like I-25!) might have to be shut down, as well as major streets around stadium. Hey guys…we don’t have that many nrth south throughways! Traffic on I-25 is backed up everyday from 3-6!!!
Taffy~ did you also see this in the Rocky Mountain News? ROTFALMAO
Help Will Bowers show some PUMA pride on the HuffyPot. Go comment.

Just saw this:
FROM WND’S JERUSALEM BUREAU
‘Obama will immediately birth Palestinian state’
Top PA official, former Communist Party head, hopes Democrat wins

JERUSALEM – The Palestinian Authority is hoping Sen. Barack Obama wins the presidential election in November and expects the Illinois Democrat to immediately set out to create a Palestinian state once he takes office, a top PA official said.
Samir Abdullah
“We would like to see Obama elected. If he is elected, an agreement about the foundation of a Palestinian state (would be) reached,” PA Planning Minister Samir Abdullah told reporters in Tokyo this weekend.
Abdullah, who is the former head of the Palestinian Communist Party, said the PA expects Obama to win in November. He said once Obama takes office, “he will immediately study the Palestinian cause and will try to push it forward.”
“Obama promised he will not wait until the last period of his office to relaunch negotiations … he will begin doing this since his first day in office unlike President Bush, who waited until his last period of power.”
Abdullah’s remarks were published yesterday in the Firas Press Network, a Palestinian news website identified with PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah organization.

PLEASE go read AND COMMENT on this fair and moving article by a former Obama supporter at Huffington Post. She is a feminist and staunch democrat. She dares to waver in her support and criticize the Annointed One and just LOOK at the immediate comments she gets:
“This is illogical, nonsensical dribble.”
“Obama is absolutely right IMO, being crazy or hysterical isn’t an excuse to abort a viable child as it exits the womb. Given that the pro-choice side can’t ever seem to come up with much in the way of actual data on mother’s-life-saving late term abortions, I quite agree with Obama’s stance on this one, it’s a perfectly well-reasoned opinion IMO.”
“Don’t vote then. You have found a reason to not vote for Obama. You weren’t going to vote for him anyway.
Don’t make a weak excuse. Just don’t do it. I could right two pages on how wrong you are. But it wouldn’t matter because you weren’t going to vote for him anyway.”
“So stay home. Perhaps you will have the time then to visit some of the millions of women who will be forced to stay home as well because they could not abort unwanted pregnancies. So they sacrificed their futures not only to their mistake in birth control, but to the pettiness of you and others like you in allowing the election of a candidate adamantly declaring himself against choice of any kind and in any term of pregnancy.”

I have a question – anyone having trouble seeing the graphics at the top of this thread? I have the dreaded (you shall not see this picture (X)) instead of the picture.
Irony…the article right above talks about the speech he wants to give about the hard economic times for middle class. HELLO…I could put a healthy dent in that 3 million!
I just responded to Senator Obama’s e-mail invitation to participate in building the Democratic Party platform.
***********************************************
Here is a plank I want included in the Democratic Party’s platform.
Resolved that, when it comes to choosing who will be the Democratic candidate for President in 2008, regardless of how the Party has previously designed political voting districts throughout the country and territories, for the purpose of counting votes cast during this Presidential primary in any such district, the Party shall assign a value to each vote in equal proportion to the vote cast by any other voter in any other district, provided that such vote has been duly certified by the respective officials of the territory or state.
Sincerely,

#9 – no pictures for me either.
I really wish the ignorant “hold them hostage with Roe v. Wade” folk would go educate themselves. Roe v. Wade is not going anywhere…idiots
#17 Virginia that article is in Post Guess they flipped a coin to see who got to spread that news
How many homeless people would that house? How many hungry children would that feed? How many uninsured could visit a doctor? …the list goes on and on…..what a waste of money for an arrogant, pompous @@@! This is who they want to run our country…………..

sorry about the images — not sure what happened — trying to fix it now.
Hi!
It seems the DNC is pressuring Hillary on this debt retirement issue, if what I read is indeed true, If so, the DNC must have a reason to do this, the same way they were pressuring her to get out of the race…
If Hillary retires her debt would this be to pressure her to concede her delegates to Obama way before the convention takes place, thus eliminate her completely? My understading was that a viable reason for her to suspend her campaing and not concede her delegates to *61 was because she needed to pay-off her debt, otherwise she could not raise more money towards her bebt. Can some one enlight me please? It seems like the DNC is playing double standard to Hillary here…I don’t like it. She earned the right to the convention…she won the popular vote and should not be asking permission.
Latin Puma,
I think the DNC is starting to get nervous. I don’t think they counted on their “chosen one” starting to show his true colors so soon. I know they didn’t count on Puma! It’s obviously not coming together the way they hoped it would. I suspect that they are trying to make a deal that they will pay her debt if she will officially concede. as time ticks on, BO keeps making mistakes and the possibility of a floor challenge is becoming more plausible. I think it’s purely a move born out of fear.

Obama’s “Not Exactly’s”
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2027844/posts
Sunday, June 08, 2008 7:42:28 AM by Man50D
1.) Selma Got Me Born – NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 – Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965. (Google ‘Obama Selma’ for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles about its various untruths.)
2.) Father Was A Goat Herder – NOT EXACTLY, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.
3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter – NOT EXACTLY, he was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had.
4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom – NOT EXACTLY, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya. It is the first widespread violence in decades. The current government is pro-American but Odinga wants to overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your half-brother, Abongo Obama, is Odinga’s follower. You interrupted your New Hampshire campaigning to speak to Odinga on the phone. Check out the following link for verification of that….and for more. Obama’s cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for president and tried to get Sharia Muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the elections, his followers have burned Christians’ homes and then burned men, women and children alive in a Christian church where they took shelter.. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election process here started. Google Obama and Odinga and see what you get. No one wants to know the truth.
5.) My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian – NOT EXACTLY, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to mention, Christianity wouldn’t allow her to have been one of 14 wives to 1 man.
6.) My Name is African Swahili – NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and ‘Baraka’ (from which Barack came) means ‘blessed’ in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama. Barack Hussein Obama is not half black. If elected, he would be the first Arab-American President, not the first black President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side and 43. 75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side. While Barack Hussein Obama’s father was from Kenya, his father’s family was mainly Arabs. Barack Hussein Obama’s father was only 12.5% African Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father’s birth certificate even states he’s Arab, not African Negro). From….and for more….go to….. http://www.arcadeathome.com/newsboy.phtml?Barack_Hussein_Obama_-_Arab-American,_only_6.25%25_African
7.) I Never Practiced Islam – NOT EXACTLY, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office. 4-3-08 Article “Obama was ‘quite religious in islam’ http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=60559
8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian – NOT EXACTLY, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check your own book). February 28, 2008. Kristoff from the New York Times a year ago: Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.” This is just one example of what Pamela is talking about when she says “Obama’s narrative is being altered, enhanced and manipulated to whitewash troubling facts.”
9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian – NOT EXACTLY, not one teacher says you could speak the language.
10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia, I Have More Foreign Experience – NOT EXACTLY, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn’t even speak the language. What did you learn, how to study the Koran and watch cartoons.
11.) I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs – NOT EXACTLY, except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies.
12.) I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion – NOT EXACTLY, you were quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention of Kenya and no mention of struggle to identify – your classmates said you were just fine.
13.)An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office – NOT EXACTLY, Ebony has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn’t, and never did, exist.
14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life – NOT EXACTLY, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn’t, and never did, exist.
15.) I Won’t Run On A National Ticket In ’08 – NOT EXACTLY, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.
16.) Voting “Present” is Common In Illinois Senate – NOT EXACTLY, they are common for YOU, but not many others have 130 NO VOTES.
17.) Oops, I Misvoted – NOT EXACTLY, only when caught by church groups and Democrats, did you beg to change your misvote.
18.) I Was A Professor Of Law – NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
19.) I Was A Constitutional Lawyer – NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
20.) Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill – NOT EXACTLY, you didn’t write it, introduce it, change it, or create it.
21.) The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass – NOT EXACTLY, it took just 14 days from start to finish.
22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill – NOT EXACTLY, your bill was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation – mainly because of your Nuclear donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.
23.) I Have Released My State Records – NOT EXACTLY, as of March, 2008, state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing all the special interests pork hidden within.
24.) I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess – NOT EXACTLY, you were part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens. You failed to mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.
25.) My Economics Bill Will Help America – NOT EXACTLY, your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU voted against your own bill.
26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois – NOT EXACTLY, even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.
27.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year – NOT EXACTLY, they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.
28.) No One on my campaign contacted Canada about NAFTA – NOT EXACTLY, the Candian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.
29.) I Am Tough On Terrorism – NOT EXACTLY, you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction off Israel.
30.) I Want All Votes To Count – NOT EXACTLY, you said let the delegates decide.
31.) I Want Americans To Decide – NOT EXACTLY, you prefer caucuses that limit the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only operate during small windows of time.
32.) I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate – NOT EXACTLY, you passed 26, most of which you didn’t write yourself.
33.) I Believe In Fairness, Not Tactics – NOT EXACTLY, you used tactics to eliminate Alice Palmer from running against you.
34.) I Don’t Take PAC Money – NOT EXACTLY, you take loads of it.
35.) I don’t Have Lobbysists – NOT EXACTLY, you have over 47 lobbyists, and counting.
36.) My Campaign Had Nothing To Do With The 1994 Ad – NOT EXACTLY, your own campaign worker made the ad on his Apple in one afternoon.
37.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq – NOT EXACTLY, you weren’t in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time.
38.) I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care – NOT EXACTL Y, your plan leaves us all to pay for the 15,000,000 who don’t have to buy it.
Excellent article. And this does not even mention Obama’s Communist background, his relationships with Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers and his hatred toward his white mother and white grandparents.
Minnesota also said that the ‘political lottery’ was illegal.
The campaign said was not a lottery.

This statement of support for an Obama Presidency from Palestinians does not surprise me, given what else I have learned about the man. See, absent much of a record in government, in order to predict what kind of Presidency I could expect from him, I investigated the record and background of his closest advisers, assuming people working with him in the campaign would be rewarded with key government appointments. I was shocked at the universal anti-Israel bent of his foreign policy advisers, including Samantha Power, who he sought out after reading her books. We tend to discount her because she called Hillary Clinton a monster; but in 2002, she actually recommended the U.S. should use military force to impose a Palestinian state, since ‘powerful lobbies’ in the U.S. (read “Jews”) would never allow such an outcome. However, facing scrutiny after joining the Obama campaign, when she was questioned about having said this, she claimed, even she didn’t know what she meant back then.

For over a week before the June 3rd primarys they talked about Hillary suspending her campaign and going on to the convention and I believe this is what she is doing.

Was checking out a link to something on-line on MSNBC and a survey popped up (a real survey from MSNBC-no advertisement). I’ve not received an opportunity to be in one of their surveys so I took it. It was about 30 minutes by the time I got through all the layers. Whenever I had the opportunity to make a “comment” in a box, it was directed toward the unbalanced and unfair reporting of Senator Clinton, the use of inappropriate and downright ugly comments toward women (mainly Senator Clinton), and their seemingly great need to take over the will of the public by trying every which way to “choose” the President for us. Anything that was “political” in nature, I voted very low, inappropriate, needs improvement or improper. It was a great opportunity to give them direct feedback.

Another $3 million for practically NOTHING? Is this how Obama will be president? Will he throw away millions of taxpayer dollars so he can stroke his ego? Not to mention that the DNC is already having trouble raising money.
Bill Clinton fought hard to get America millions of dollars in surpluses to help pay off the national debt, that’s the kind of America that Hillary fights for.
Students and young voters should look at http://www.Palestra.net and try to get some PUMA coverage. :0)

I just received this email from elected Oregon delegate Susan Castner. Important read.
******************************************
Sorry if you are receiving duplicates of this little missive but this list serv doesn’t allow me to edit recipients on the fly. Since this site will disappear in a few weeks, details follow on how to stay in assorted Hillary loops if you so desire.
First, let me apologize for not getting back to many of you sooner. I’ve been traveling off and on since being elected as a Clinton delegate at the 1st CD on June 7th. I wish I could answer every question individually. Please understand that the situation has been a dynamic, fluid one making it virtually impossible to keep everyone in a specific loop. That said…
Two Thursday’s ago, June 26th, I attended a meeting in Washington, D.C. with Senators Clinton and Obama. Incorrectly labeled a “fundraiser” by the press, it was supposed to be a small gathering of Hillary’s national finance committee and while there were a few in attendance to write checks to the Obama campaign that night, many did not.
Prior to this gathering, I had had several discussions and meetings with many staunch Obama supporters. These friends have all been exceptionally gracious in reaching out and have been willing to listen to the concerns brought forth. Many have eagerly awaited welcoming HRC supporters on board. So I was genuinely looking forward to the evening in Washington with an open mind, if not an open checkbook. Having already met Senator Obama in Scottsdale several years ago, I was truly hoping to see what my friends had related to me in oh-so many ways. I was hoping to be wowed, not wooed. I wanted to hear something that would bring me totally on board with the many friends and fellow Oregon delegates who support Senator Obama.
The first question during the very brief Q&A period dealt with a persistent rumor about Hillary’s name NOT being on the first ballot in Denver. As a Clinton delegate, I am looking forward to representing the people who voted for me at the 1st CD convention and the 259,000 Oregonians who voted for Hillary in May. I also feel a level of responsibility to the 18 million voters who must be respected, heard, and no longer invisible. Hillary has expressed this sentiment so much more eloquently than I ever could. So I, along with others on Hillary’s finance committee who are elected delegates, wanted to hear that there would be an open convention in which Hillary Clinton’s name is placed into nomination and delegate votes are registered by roll call — as has been the procedure at Democratic conventions throughout modern history.
The people I have been in the trenches with for the last 18 months all feel that Hillary’s achievements as the first woman to present a serious challenge must be recorded for history – especially since convention week includes the 88th anniversary of women’s suffrage. Imagine attending THE convention that celebrates the phenomenal achievements of generations of women in politics! What would be a better way to join splintered Democratic constituencies into a winning alliance? After all, if the sensible shoe were on the other foot, would anyone in his or her right mind even think of suggesting that Senator Obama’s name not be placed in nomination? Gary Hart, Ted Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, Joe Biden, Jerry Brown, Paul Tsongas (among others) have ALL had their names placed in nomination with far fewer than 1,896 delegates.
My friend who asked the question in DC explained that if we, on the finance committee, were expected to put our time, energy, effort, and rolodexes into getting Senator Obama elected, we wanted some assurance that we would be able to vote for Hillary in Denver.
We all thought it was a reasonably benign question with a relatively simple answer. I was absolutely stunned when Senator Obama replied that that there were many issues that needed to be “negotiated” and we would not have a “negotiating session” that night. He did attempt to placate us by saying that Hillary would be “front and center” at the convention. He also told the woman who asked the question that he DID want her rolodex. Answers to other questions about the blatant misogyny and reducing Hillary’s campaign debt were no more satisfying.
My deep disappointment in the entire process and the outcome is not likely to dissipate yet I remain hopeful. Everyone needs to do what he or she is comfortable doing between now and November. And EVERY decision deserves respect. I have yet to decide whether I will write a check to Senator Obama’s campaign. And I am not asking you to contribute at this time – I cannot in good conscience make this request of anyone until Senator Obama commits to allowing a first ballot roll call vote. So for right now, I am focused on making sure that elected Hillary delegates and super-delegates CAN vote for her in Denver.
Another important endeavor for which I will ask assistance is reducing Hillary’s campaign debt to vendors. She is not asking anyone to help pay back the money that she personally loaned to the campaign, which she regards as her own investment. If you haven’t already maxed out to Hillary, please contribute whatever you can (all amounts large and small are welcome):
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/contribute/jsc44
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on all of this. To that end, I will be having a gathering at my house this Saturday, July 12 starting at 3 PM. I simply ask that this NOT be a “bitch” session. I am hoping that any Obama supporters and/or campaign staff and/or other members of the DPO feel free to attend as well. As with all of the gatherings at my place, I’m sure it’ll go late into the evening. Please RSVP to the WomenVote2008 email address below if you can.
I thank you for your continued support.

Great list! A few of other from the previous thread had lists of what amount to talking points. If anyone’s interested in collecting these, merging them, or something, might be a worthwhile resource for our Action Center. Resource Center?
If Sen. Obama picks a woman other than Sen. Clinton does he risk irritating her supporters?

I don’t think so. I don’t sense – despite all that poll stuff right after the contest when he clinched, my sense is that the vast majority of Democrats are going to be with him and engaged. And I know they’re reaching out very aggressively to the Clinton people.
(Guess he hasn’t met us PUMAS yet)

#10 Murphy,
Voted in the poll. Then I saw the little box which asked “Do you know of something we should report on?”
I wrote, Yes, you should report on Obama’s megalomania. Perhaps, if you do, he’ll seek help.
Murphy –
The press release is great! And, it was brilliant how you managed to weave in a Contribute option along with a Join option.
And, thanks for all you do AND thanks for being so open to our many suggestions and ideas. Not everyone would be so willing to release the reigns, as it were. I truly respect your ability to birth your (PUMA) baby, so to speak, while allowing it to evolve and for collaborations to flower. That’s a real gift, one of many, that you obviously have. Didn’t want to send this via private e-mail as I feel you deserve highly public kudos.
Thank you.
I plan to fax the letter to dean and nobama. Do I have to use Murphy’s name or can I use mine?
why thank you Anna7000 — what a nice thing to say.

SUSAN CASTNER
Excellent letter from Castner. It sure shows the lofty attitude of O in a behind closed door meeting. I’d like to send a thank you letter to Susan for her willingness to share the information and to speak frankly about her experiences. Certainly, it must be difficult for her and I would not want to use negative comments toward a future decision she may make which is not obvious at this point. Thanks for posting, Aloha.
No picture for me either.
I already voted in Rocky poll.

In the Action Center, I tried the NObama Information, and this is what I got:
“Not Found
The requested URL /nobama/nobama-links.html was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”
??? Grrrr!
I will be sending the post out first thing in the am. I also read on a web site cannot remember the name, might have been NQuarters, that the German gov is having problems with #61 giving a speech in Germany. I will look for the web in the am and get back. It is storming here. I am off the computer for all. Everyone have a very good night.
The Press Release refers to Local Action in Mpls. Where can I find more info? Tried the Action Center. Just need more patience?
#50 Aloha
How does one communicate with Castner? Do you have an e-mail for her? I notice the Womenvote2008 address. Is that a link?
murphy,
when Hillary wins she will have you–and the PUMA group–to thank…
#69 RE: COMMUNICATION W/CASTNER
I believe the link just above her signature will take you to her e-mail.
Trishfrom Canada – Did you receive my five emails last night regarding Clinton Superdelegates?? I had problems with your email addy – also sending you another one right now with BO’s good and bad email addys.
I got a responce from Jeremy in an e-mail that I forwarded to him. He believes that such a contest would be a great idea and bring organization to our goal. I will post the e-mail I sent to both him and Murphy and we’re interested in what you guys think.
Hi, I was on the PUMA website and have found that the number of donated pictures/flyers is very low.
In response to Jeremy’s talent list I was thinking since apparently we have a number of people who are talented with such things as photoshop, well why not have you host a banner contest?
1. This will get everyone involved and focused on our causes
2. It would be fun for everyone that tries this.
3. It will create a more professional approach to our advertising or simply when we e-mail our friends to have something that looks more professional.
I believe that if we want to get our name even more out there and to have an image of quality and being professional then this should help. I had a friend complain that the websites look tacky and lack a look of professionalism.
I’m sure there are many people out there willing to donate their time to this. I’ve heard some had worked for graphic designing so I believe this would be a great idea.
The contest can be held up for public vote to our fellow PUMAs or simply be chosen by you. For example, you say “I want a new PUMA logo with so and so text on it” “I want a banner with a bus showcasing our details for Denver to pass along” or “I would like a flyer showcasing Obama’s flip flops” and then have them being turned in on a certain date and either you decide or hold a public vote.
To be fair we shouldn’t list who made what.
But all in all I see this as it would be a real benefit to us and if we really want to pull of the Skill that our fellow PUMAs have this would be a great idea.
If I can be of further assistance or anything let me know
So please contact me back on what you think about this.
Thanks and have a nice day,
Chris (Lets Get It Started)

Puma power,power to the Pumas
halligan,
I think this letter and de Lady Rothschild’s blog and interview is a clear indication of the dilemma most of these large contributors are facing. It speaks volumes about the audacity of the Obama campaign to be dismissive of these people as well.
A lot can happen in the next few weeks.

i hate to show my lack of knowkledge on the subject but has there every been a floor fight at the convention where the presumptive nominee did not win?

Thanks, Trish! Considering we almost lost the entire thing last night and I’ve been working all day to recover it, well let’s just say – the work goes on. Still not all together yet, but the primary features are active and Pumas are able to access our flyers, postcards and other items again.
Check it out Pumas. Feedback welcome. Still getting the bugs out so don’t get excited about the ‘under constructoin’ mess over there!

I noticed that Greta still has not closed her PUMA blog. There were 1,121 posts and the last one was on July 7th. Just a thought, how about we all get over there and shock her by posting again with all the new things that have happened in the last few days. Just to let her know that we are active and not taking it anymore. As Will Bower said ” We’re now taking our cause for reclaiming delegates to the battle *front lines*!!”

I ditto, tritto even, the sentiment…
although I got a little nervous when I read

Love the video, sent it to a few people already
murphy
great video.
I e-mailed the Press Release to about 25 of the media listed in the Action Center
RE: FLYERS
Haven’t really taken a lot of time to check out everything in the action center. I’m a boomer puma (say that 3 times fast!) and small type doesn’t work with distance glasses, reading glasses, nothin’. I’m up with my face against the screen. Pitiful.
Anyway, maybe we could have a link to a list of ideas of where to put fliers. If so, here are some:
public transportation depots and on public transportation seats
public restroom stalls (travel w/fliers, tape and sizzors)
public telephones (nearly a thing of the past, but…)
jewish community centers
laundermats
post offices that have seperate 24-hr po box room
supermarkets with community bulletin boards
I know some folks put them under car windshild wipers. I have mixed feelings about doing that because I know how annoyed I feel when I come out to my car and see anything there. With all of this it’s tricky – need to strike a balance between getting the word out while not doing so in a way that might irritate and alienate a potential PUMA. (Maybe the local SPCA?!*)
I can see the images now
Good video!
SCATHCART
glad to see you’re okay. i saw on the news someone from bridgeton had been killed in a car accident today so i was glad to see it was not you.
#85 DANCES WITH PUMAS
Sorry for not being clear. No, I just meant what you thought/hoped, which is that Murphy is willing to run a tight ship with respect to her values and boundaries, but that she doesn’t hold the reigns so tight as to be overly controlling and focused on herself.
Not to worry.
Sorry for causing any gray hairs!
I can’t get the video to play.

I agree on “can” and “will” I believed the term “can” and “will” are vastly different. I can fly to the moon but what is the likelihood I ever “will?” Zilch!
*61′s speeches don’t mean anything because anyone can say the can do anything but as Senator Clinton often stated she actually WILL do something. I always thought if was a cheap manipulation by *61.

In the past we would all be upset about things like that video about our party candidate but how can you disagree with it. The swift boaters have not even started with their ads yet. The guy who created the Willie Horton ad says he’s already got some new ones made that make that old one look like the minor leagues. He’s got time to fine tune them too. How can the party do this to us?

Clinton to headline with Obama a “Women for Obama” fund-raiser in New York Thursday; Obama at Clinton debt retirement fund-raiser Wednesday night. Events sold out.

THURSDAY, JULY 10
**Location for planning purposes only. Tickets are no longer available**
WOMEN FOR OBAMA FINANCE BREAKFAST WITH SENATOR OBAMA AND SENATOR CLINTON
The event is a fundraiser. Tickets are required, but are no longer available.

#121 wontbackdown Can you post’s Donna’s response to you.
After seeing that great YouTube video again on this site, I went back to the original, created and posted by BoyThreeOne. I had commented on that site before, but seeing so many PUMA comments that have been added since then, I had to respond to one. I accidentally put it as a new post instead of a response, but oh well. Here is what I posted there:
If war in Iran is inevitable, I’d rather have someone who is not naive and a habitual flip-flopper in the White House. With McCain or Clinton at the helm, I would feel a whole lot safer than with Mr. Inexperience. With Hillary, we’d have President Clinton times two! With McCain, we at least have some continuity of military command. Obama can’t be trusted to keep a simple campaign pledge from one week to next… the candidate of “Change” means “changing his mind.” Keep the change, dude.
#122 vadaryl
Brazile has not announced as of yet. She is holding out because she knows Bo is a no go, no matter how much she shoots her mouth off deep down she knows, and by not cementing her vote she can still wash her hands of it. In her mind that is.
I already did but , But, I’ll do it again. Give me a few minutes. big storms are hitting right now and need to shut down until the lightening moves on.
Sent the releases. Some came back as undeliverable, but most went through.
#102 Portia,
I would call the number and ask this person about the documentary. Also, many people are on youtube these days, perhaps they have something there you can watch just to get a clue as to what “side” they’re leaning towards. You don’t want to end up on some Pro-*61 propagada footage!
I tried to post a link to a great article in hillbuzz and was placed in perpetual “moderation.” Why is this?
#91 Anna7000, Have you tried the zoom button. I found it by accident. What a difference. Is 49.2kbps slow?
#128 I just assumed she did after watching her all those months and not believing a word she was saying. She went at it a few times with Paul B. I should not be surprised but I am that she is held back and CNN let her get away with it.

Earlier you post about Local Action Center in Minneapolis. How do I find out more about that cause that is near my area?
Could we be seeing some msg here, VP possibilities are dropping out right and left, supporters are saying one thing and doing another.
To All Pumas:
Read the Tax Center Brookings Analysis on McCain and Obama yesterday (all 37 pages revised on 6/22/08). I’m not an accountant nor that versed in numbers, however, I did find an interesting, overall theme that needs to be drawn to people’s attention (yawnnnnnn).
1. Both candidates will raise taxes (dah), McCain more than Obama.
2. Most of the tax cuts, tax increases and loopholes for corporate interest will sunset in 2010 which means that Congress will be working on these provisions starting in the 2009 session.
3. Obama’s tax provision are highly geared toward the lower income below $40,000 to $50,000 incomes (tax cuts, increase refundable credits) which is really needed.
4. Under either candidate’s tax plan, the national deficit is likely to continue to rise (not including the cost of health care and unknown revenues).
5. Substantial cuts in spending are still expected to balance the budget.
6. Only 2/5 of the high income tax payer would face a tax cut.
7. On the average a senior tax payer (over 65) would experience an increase tax of 2 to 9.3% if income is over $50,000.
8. Retirees would benefit from very few of Obama’s new tax credit proposals and would experience more increase on capital gains and dividents.
9. Seniors would bear the burden of Obama’s corporate tax increase because more seniors above $50,000 would be more likely to have investments. (However, those investments are largely pools of money to extend living income throughout the life of their retirement).
10. Singles, heads of households and tax units with children would fare quite well, but married couples and the elderly would do worse.
11. McCains plan would provide little or virtually nothing to benefit households in the bottom or lower income categories.
In summary, some of the facts given yesterday on post #2, were fairly accurate when it comes to capital gains and dividends, but the analysis does not prove the tax burden presented in individual tax payer income categories. The inheritance tax figures given were erroneous as well. Both candidates have stated in their tax plans that the exstate tax should be substantially reduced but not repealed (Bush repealed it). Both candidates would also continue to use the AMT (alternative minimum tax), but would not repeal it. The ATM is basically a revenue producer for the feds.
If you have any clarification to make on this information, please do.
I was just over at the confluence, and RD stated we have paid down 1/2 of Hillarys debt over the 4th!
here is part of the post at:

Diane tells me that our fundraiser last weekend helped Hillary reduce her debt by roughly half. One more push like that and Hillary can stop being Obama’s indentured servant on the campaign trail. I say we go for it! It must be giving Donna Brazile fits and the only thing that makes me happier is getting on Donna’s Diss List.
#34 LatinPuma on 07.08.08 at 7:12 pm, WROTE,
[[ It seems the DNC is pressuring Hillary on this debt retirement issue, if what I read is indeed true, If so, the DNC must have a reason to do this, the same way they were pressuring her to get out of the race… ]]
I think many of us have questions because so much is taking place behind the scenes and not too many know what is really taking place.
It is my understanding that back in May each candidate made an agreement with the DNC that both would combine their funds to help the DNC. But since Hillary has debt their is nothing to combine.
Last I heard, BHO *signed* that agreement but Hillary did not; unless that has changed. I also heard that BHO is being very stingy with his money and not giving it freely to the DNC.
Last I heard, as long as Hillary still has debt she cannot help either BHO or the DNC. Hence the pressure on her to pay down her debt and to fundraise soley for him. But at this point she is also fundrasing for herself and they don’t like that.
[[ If Hillary retires her debt would this be to pressure her to concede her delegates to Obama way before the convention takes place, thus eliminate her completely? ]]
I think her debt and a concession are two different things. There no reason for her to concede because she still has 1,600 delegates that she has *not* released since she only *suspended* her campaign and has not conceded. IOW, she has not released her delegates o BHO. Tis something I am sure they would love her to do, and something she is not required to do.
My guess is that she wants to keep her legacy going foward. This is why a roll call vote is so important to her… so the TRUE VOTE WOULD BE RECORDED FOR HISTORY. But of course BHO is fighting this because it would undermine is credibility; and be an embarrassment to him, some say. I mean, how would it look if at the end they say, I give you the Party nominee, the man who lost the popular vote by 150,000 votes.
Personally, I think they are worried that the SuperDelegates will realize that they were al brainwashed into Selecting the wrong person and switch their vote. IOW, there might be a 2nd or a 3rd vote until a number can be reached. That’s what Conventions are all about. But this year, they want to make it into a coronation instead of the election it should be.
[[My understading was that a viable reason for her to suspend her campaing and not concede her delegates to *61 was because she needed to pay-off her debt, otherwise she could not raise more money towards her bebt. Can some one enlight me please? ]]
She hasn’t released her delegates because she can still WIN the nomination. All she has to do is to re-activate her campaign. And that can be done at any time by a mere press conference. Or, it can be done at the Convention.
I just think there is just no way for any of us to know what is inside of Hillary’s mind right now… and anything any of us say is pure speculation.
PUMA needs an insider…

We can do this, everyone, if you can donate anything at all let’s do this for Hillary. $5.00 $10.00, $20.00. I say we hit the sites at the side bar on this page, what do you say?
I say, I’M IN on paying down Hillary’s Debt!
Will Some of You Straighten Out the NYT?
Michael Falcone wrote in the NYT blog yesterday that BO booked the stadium in Denver, which holds 75,000, after a “sea of 75,000 people swarmed around” him at a gathering in Portland, Oregon, in May, making this “the largest crowd of his campaign.” Except that, the crowd at the park in May had been recruited to appear as part of a cross-promotional marketing effort his campaign had entered into with the Decemberists, a popular indie band based in Portland. Below are links to their web site, posting in advance news of the free concert and a request to contact the Obama campaign directly, along with the link to the campaign’s web site. I also gave a link to a music site spreading advance word the Decemberists would be appearing in the park, for free.
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/07/obama-picks-stadium-for-acceptance-speech/
http://www.decemberists.com/news.aspx
http://www.bandweblogs.com/blog/2008/05/17/the-decemberists-to-perform-at-rally-with-barack-obama-portland-oregon/
Have we asked people in McCain and Obama sites?
It will be tough work and require you best diplomacy, but spreading the link to help pay down her debt may help.
For instance, on BO forums and campaign site, you could get an account and slowly make some friends and then work you own pay down the debt in the sake of unity. Look for $5 donations and maybe… Obama supporters will donate for unity.
For McCain, you may have to work harder to get those folks to help out, but maybe just maybe they’ll see hillary as a fighter and with respect enough to toss $5 her way.

Who gave you my address? If you go back to the website that has generated so much hate mail these past few weeks (harming Sen Clinton with actual voters and delegates), you will find my answers and more. Thanks for your time.
#150 This is a great! Oct. 26th is to late for the convention but still before election day.
Maybe we can have another day like that before the convention, use my stadium idea to hold the rallies.
THANKS TO ALL WHO TIPPED ME OFF ABOUT THE ZOOM FEATURE. WILL GO TRY IT AS SOON AS I SEND THIS.
#99 DANCESWITHPUMAS
I will really really miss you. I hope all is ok and you just need to step back into life again!
#106 WONTBACKDOWN
I think there’s a media list in the Action Center. But, I was thinking this afternoon about checking it (once I master the Zoooooooooom) to see if there are media contacts we need to add.
#112 FIRECHIEF
I agree completely regarding signing a release. That’s not something to take lightly at all. Once you sign, you have no control over how your image, words, etc may be used. And who knows who this person really is who’s contacting you via this blog.
RE: HILLARY’S DEBT
Half is something, but half of what? How much is left?
#157 She apparently is unaware that one quick Google search turns up her e-mail on her website!…At least she spared you the “Stop spreading the hate..” line she sent to other people…
Ok, if we all decide to pay down her debt we need a theme (#150 bmw60) said something about Hillary’s birthday we can use that and send her a birthday present of (1 debt paid in full)
Wouldn’t that be wonderful!
#157 HILLARYISTHEONE RE: BRAZILLE
My thoughts, exactly. In fact, I was thinking of incorporating this mantra into the most recent letter I’m crafting to send to SD’s. There was so much talk about not wanting to go against the will of the people. Yet, somehow, when the will of the people tipped the scales in favor of Hillary, all that talk seems to have faded. What a joke!

LOL
I believe riverdaughter is going to talk about it tomorrow night on blog radio.
In the wee hours of this morning I wrote a fan letter to Marc Rubin because I think his writings at Tom In Paine are great. He wrote back a few hours later, and I believe it is okay to share his response. I did identify myself as a member of PUMA PAC. Marc wrote:
Well you returned the humor so thanks for that. And that is exactly true. They dont pay out until its official.
The Denver Group which Im exec director is about to run our first ad in the chicago tribune going right to Obama’s home turf. the ad will run friday. The best thing that can start happening is Friday people start calling howard dean at the dnc in BOTH chicago and DC demanding Clinton’s name be “put in nomination” ( use those words if you are inclined to do this), and that there is a roll call vote.
#164, EXCELLENT…I vote for Bill!
#155 jbjd
thanks for sharing the indisputable evidence of
What a Freaking Phony the Democratic Nominee is.
I’ll definitely be sharing this with others who are starting to wake up from their KoolAid stuper.
I’m sending the letter above via snail mail -don’t have a fax.
#165 Maybe:
DNC had a girl
Donna was her name
Since she cast a vote
Florida’s not the same
Cause they know for sure
they been halved by this girl…
#138 Halligan,
I don’t believe ANYTHING BO has to say. He is not a man of his word. He’ll flip flop as he finds it to be politically expedient. He hasn’t provided any specifics as to how he is to fulfill the promises he has made to the American people and when he finally does come up with any “official proposals”, I won’t bother with them because he’ll move to the right, the center and the left before I’m done reading his proposals.
I think we should include all our sister sites who are working on this too..confluence, hireheels, justsaynodeal etc. if we all link together, it will be just that much more powerful. Maybe talk to Murphy and see if she is working on something with them, having a link on all of our sites, so we can keep a running tab. What do you think?
Can you imagine what a slap in the face it would be to BO and the DNC to use your July 15 list and get that debt paid down!
Rah Rah Rea, Kick’m in the _ _ _
Let’s get this party rolling! Murphy?
A stadium. Over 75,000 people. Barack Obama preaching to the masses, as though he is an evangelical preacher or the Pope. Now that is the audacity of ego.
#173 prplvette85
That’s what I said get all the sites on the side bar involved. This is just the thing they don’t want to happen.
SOOOOO….LET IT HAPPEN!!!
looks like some of the media are upset about the change of venue Ob crafted. Apparantly they do not get a birds eye view at the centre, and they have to pt out more time and energy to change how they were going to build their media platforms. But no fear, foxnews got it covered, they’re convinced with a few changes everything will be ok.
Also, there’s a game scheduled for the 22nd, debating whether to postpone it. But again no fears, Bo is going to try his hand at football, afterall he’s a winner! On a serious note, now that everything is planned, the Bo Team will approach the Broncos about changing their game night.
#171….lol….oh malone, a vision is unfolding right before our eyes!
Hey, how’s it feel to be half a vote?
#175 It’s a “made for TV” event…they hope that all the naysayers and the undecideds will see 75,000 cheering people and follow the herd…
#172 Roxy
TAXES
Understand. Thanks for the reply. I’m not favoring anyone proposal. Just reviewing.
No matter who the President is, come tax time, we are all accountable. The law is the law and the present tax system needs an overhaul. However, 2010 is looming and the sunset provisions are coming. It’s up to the tax payer to get to their congress people and make the changes at that level. The power is still in the people when it comes to Congress enacting laws unless one is George Bush and his Republican Congress.
I believe the masses will react as though he were a rock star, but I don’t think he can sing.
#178 Donna Brazile and the Halfettes are the half time show at the Obama anointing in Mile High Stadium…
BO needs a makeover. He has to be the most arrogant self centered poor excuse of a human I have had the PLEASURE of NOT meeting. Will keep it that way.
He can knuckle bump.
#183 You forgot the part about how if he could flap his ears…he could fly…
But if we have an event before his it may take some of the thunder out of it. We could meet all over the country in stadiums, arenas, parks, etc. What a story that will make.
Pray for snow in Denver.
A made for tv event would be us paying down her debt, and 175 SD’s changing their vote at the last minute..on the convention floor……and ELECTING HILLARY….THE NOMINEE FOR TH 2008 ELECTION. WE…PUMAS…can make that happen….YES WE WILL!!!!!
#157 Hillaryistheone,
Wow, ghetto Brazila is totally out of control…..she needs an intervention!
Oops, sorry. I just assumed that since he is so full of hot air he’d be flying with ears on stand by.
#104 TrishfromCanada
Read the Donna Brazile spin on Hil and Barack and sent her an email trying to get her to repeat a promise she made to me in an earlier email to not vote for BO at the convention because Hillary won the popular vote. I accidently deleted that original email, so I’m trying to get her to say it again. Wish me luck.
I was watching Hannity and was so upset with Obama laughing at Americans and getting suporters to laugh too. He used to do that to Hillary all the time. He was saying how bad it was for us that when we went to France say we didnt know french. They were all laughing with him like Wrights church and they prob. didnt now another languauge either. He can still have them laughing at fellow Americans. They cannt see this?? Man
BHO get’s 75,000 and we get millions all over the country. The media would have to cover that story.
A PUMAVENTION..in Denver lol
I Googled Amy Rice. She’s making a documentary that’s pro-Obama. I guess she wants me as an example of a stereotypical angry middle-aged white woman for Hillary. I can’t imagine any possible way I’d come off as looking like anything but a fool. I think I’ll pass on stardom.
No, she needs a colon cleanse….infomercial lol
#182 dmrr , that is hysterical LOL
#191 Don’t count on her same response this time.
I didn’t check the Bronc’s schedule first. However, would either team and/or representative of that team be willing to do this? We are talking about Professional Football. Barack may think he is superior on every level, but don’t mess with a Football Fan and their teams.
Authority of Commissioner’s Office
1. Authority to cancel, postpone, or terminate games is vested only in the Commissioner and the League President (other League office representatives and referees may suspend play temporarily; see point No. 3 under this section and point No. 1 under “Authority of Referee” below). The following definitions apply:
Cancel: To cancel a game is to nullify it either before or after it begins and to make no provision for rescheduling it or for including its score or other performance statistics in League records.
Postpone: To postpone a game is (a) to defer its starting time to a later date, or (b) to suspend it after play has begun and to make provision to resume at a later date with all scores and other performance statistics up to the point of postponement added to those achieved in the resumed portion of the game.
Terminate: To terminate a game is to end it short of a full 60 minutes of play, to record it officially as a completed game, and to make no provision to resume it at a later date. The Commissioner or League President may terminate a game in an emergency if, in his opinion, it is reasonable to project that its resumption (a) would not change its ultimate result or (b) would not adversely affect any other interteam competitive issue.
Forfeit: The Commissioner, (except in cases of disciplinary action; see last section on “Removing Team from Field”), League President, and their representatives, including referees, are not authorized unilaterally to declare forfeits. A forfeit occurs only when a game is not played because of the failure or refusal of one team to participate. In that event, the other team, if ready and willing to play, is the winner by a score of 2-0.
2. If an emergency arises that may require cancellation, postponement, or termination (see above), the highest ranking representative from the Commissioner’s office working the game in a “control” capacity will consult with the Commissioner, League President, or game-day duty officer designated by the League (by telephone, if that person is not in attendance) concerning such decision. If circumstances warrant, the League representative should also attempt to consult with the weather bureau and with appropriate security personnel of the League, club, stadium, and local authorities. If no representative from the Commissioner’s office is working the game in a “control” capacity, the referee will be in charge (see “Authority of Referee” below).
3. In circumstances where safety is of immediate concern, the Commissioner’s-office representative may, after consulting with the referee, authorize a temporary suspension in play and, if warranted, removal of the participants from the playing field. The representative should be mindful of the safety of spectators, players, game officials, nonplayer personnel in the bench areas, and other field-level personnel such as photographers and cheerleaders.
4. If possible, the League-office representative should consult with authorized re- presentatives of the two participating clubs before any decision involving cancellation, postponement, or termination is made by the Commissioner or League President.
5. If the Commissioner or League President decides to cancel, postpone, or terminate a game, his representative at the game or the game-day duty officer will then determine the method(s) for announcing such decision, e.g., by public-address announcement over referee’s wireless microphone, by public-address announcement by home club, or by communication to radio, television, and other news media.
When is the Rep Convention? Besides getting a fix for his ego, is the stadium a way to show that BO is change from the Reps? The whole thing is riduculous. Give the extra money being spent to charity…to people who really need it.
#194 A PUMAVENTION all over the country. Has a nice ring to it.
#187 bythelake.. Lol. If we can pull off snow in Denver in August, we certainly can get Hillary to be the nominee.
They best hope it’s not the Cleveland Browns who would be playing. We do have the “dog pen” supporters and their bite is bigger than their bark.
Who let the dogs out song. Where’s that video I requested a few hundred thousand posts ago lol.
I JUST DONATED TO HRC’S DEBT…PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DONATE WHAT YOU CAN IN CASE SHE ONLY HAS UNTIL JULY 11TH OR THE JULY 15TH TO PAY OFF HER DEBT. I WILL NEVER, EVER GIVE THE DNC OR BO ANY OF MY HARD EARNED $$$$. THIS WHOLE PRIMARY SEASON HAS LEFT A VERY BAD TASTE IN MOUTH.
Schedule as of today

MURPHY @@@@@@@@@@@
As I told you yesterday, I donated $25 for the bus fund to Denver. I want to also donate just to Pumapac. Can I just specify that ??? I think you were asking for $100 before a certain date. can’t remember exactly. But I want to donate my part. Thanks, Jeannie
Oh, in Denver I think anything can happen. Geez, seems like it just stopped snowing there a few months ago!
Snowbound Obamanots. Not a pretty sight.
#199 Jeremy
I’ll try to keep up on the Bronco’s response, if you learn it first, please let me know.
Sounds like a conflict to me. Hum, maybe get the Denver fans involved in this. No offense, but dang, they can be vicious lol.
Go Broncos, Go Broncos, Tell BO NO!
2nd notice: not to be redundant…. let’s show PUMA Support for Hillary…NEW SITE….. GO THERE AND BLOG… SEND HILLARY A BIRTHDAY MESSAGE….

What a beautiful letter. Who is Susan Castner? I realize she’s an elected superdelegate, but I am curious for other details about her. She sounds like one super decent human being…
Thanks for sharing the letter.
Do you have an email address for her?
I used to think Brazile and Dean knew what they were doing! Now it is painfully obvious that they never did. They must realize that we will NEVER forgive or forget what they did this primary season. It is like words coming out of your mouth, once they are out thats it, they can never go back. They showed their true colors and this scandal will follow then to the end of their careers. I still cannot believe it happened, feel like I am in the twilight zone at times. They can have their “New Democrat party”. They use the term “Democratic” very loosely there. Sorry, just venting, it is very hot and humid here in NY!
#208 Trish~will do.
#209 bythelake~I have a getaway in Silverthorne. A joint investment with another family member. I know the Fans temperament. I don’t see them taking a forfeit for anyone. And if they do…..what message does that send to other teams regarding the Bronc’s? Talk about shaky diplomacy…..
I have CNN on. Upcoming will be a story about Hillary holdouts.
#212…I’m thinking someone isn’t paying attention. All those seats sold twice? Oh mercy mercy me. Let’s play football and I know where to get the ball!
Just heard on CNN
David Gergen was speaking (On AC360) about Obama’s VP choice and he mentioned that Obama has to mention who his VP will be becasue Gergen talked to people in the Clinton camp and they said they were “going to denver like hell and demanding a roll call vote” I’m paraprhasing but thats what I remember him saying.
So you know you never know what coudl happenw hich is why we need to keep fighting.
I remember when Bush was elected his second term and I thouht ok so how stupid are americans, I was quite angry about it. Now I watch how so many people swoon over BO and think, good lord, didn’t they learn anything. Thankfully the people on this blog have restored some of my faith.
It’s been awhile but did people hear about this. I got an email from Will Bowers and he said this is on fire right now:
PUMAs !!
We’re now taking our cause for reclaiming delegates to the battle *front lines*!!
Please, go there now and comment… and comment… and comment!!
THESE are the people we MOST want to reach out to right now! Obama is betraying THEM now!!
Because of this, I ask that you be as reasoned and diplomatic as you can possibly be!!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-tomasic/hillarys-puma-voters-say_b_111461.html
OMG this is encouraging (I think). On CNN just now, come on, take your fingers out of your PUMA ears…David Gergan just said, he spoke to several Clinton financial supporters, they were talking about several articles in the Wall St. Journal, that Hillary supporters were going to the convention in Denver, to get Hillary on the roll call, or else they were going there to give them Hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gonna go and see if I can find the articles.
First HuffPo and now the Kossaks (sorry if this is a repeat, I am trying to catch up)-
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/7/8/191936/4289/738/548436
sorry for all the spelling errors haha, but this guy(gergen) is “usually” right so you never know, things could flip around for Junior (BO)
#215…Lol, I remember when the Bronco’s kicked our butts in a play off game. Whoa, they don’t take prisoners, they eat them lol…Let the games begin, on time!
BO, bah hum bug.
#216, keep us posted!
#214 tadgher99
No need to apologize….You are simply speaking the truth and you have a lot company in those thoughts. I’m in NY too. It is hot here tonight.
#221
Not just Hillary supporters but actual people from the campaign if I remember correctly, this is why I believe that theres stilla chance.
TV doesn’t always get on my good side but I still watch it for littlse news like this.
#219 TrishfromCanada…Plenty of Americans had thought the same thing, I myself wondered how blind so many could be. I guess there is no cure for blindness.
#27 MsBinMD
If you right-click on the empty picture boxes and choose “Show Picture” — does that help? Also are there any bars at the top of your browser window informing you to click on it to show images? It could be the browser settings. Are you using a current browser program such as Internet Explorer version 7?
I suspect that the Obama camp doesn’t want a roll call on the floor lest the tide should turn…and it could happen!
188 prplvette85
Yes! Keep the vision. People are waking up to this being possible.
#219 Trish
I thought the same thing. I remember my mother leaving a message (she’s gone now) saying “The unthinkable has happened.” There is a lot of Madison Avenue in Obama’s campaign. They are masters at subconscious messaging and most of this bruhaha over Obama is what psychologists and the like call projective identification. Obama probably thinks its all about him, but I bet his handlers know its all a projection.
#219 TrishfromCanada ,
I thought the exact same thing! I could not believe that half the country could be taken in not once, but twice!! No excuse for that, I’m sorry. I was ashamed of them.
August 25-28. Those are the days of the DNConvention. Acceptance speech is…28th? No conflict as I can see yet in regards to the planned football season. Correct me if I am wrong.
Jeremy,
I know first hand. I moved from Cali to Colorado, a die hard Raider fan, went up against the best of them lol…..
A bit behind…so let me understand this…It’s either the Broncos or BO. It’s a no brainer. Go Broncos !!!
I think it will be more like a tidal wave!
CNN Anderson Cooper Hillary Holdouts on now
#223 Let’s get it started,
Oh, poor BO and MO. I heard they had started to make plans to re-decorate the White House.
Well, I can’t imagine the chaos that will be going on in Denver that week. Maybe the cheeseheads will stick around for the Obama fallout.
Broncos have a game on 8/22 at home, and 8/29 away game. They will not be using stadium during convention
#225 BrooklynNY,
The AC is cranked here, keep cool, I gotta go for now!
I can’t get the whole article without a subscription, so here is their teaser….
CLINTON’S CONVENTION ROLE BEING NEGOTIATED
(June Kronholz, Wall Street Journal)
Hillary Clinton won a hefty 1,600 convention delegates in six months of primaries. A big question now is whether to let them vote at the Democratic convention. High on the list of matters that Sen. Clinton and likely Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama are negotiating as her campaign closes down is whether and how her name is put into nomination at the August convention in Denver, said party activists in both camps. A full roll-call vote that reminds everyone how close she came to being the nominee could reveal party rifts going into the fall campaign, they said. But keeping her name off the roll call could anger her supporters.
#221 I just played back to make sure I heard David Gergan correctly and he did say “that Hillary supporters were going to the convention in Denver, to get Hillary on the roll call, or else they were going there to give them Hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
TOPIC: Edwards
Edwards would “seriously consider” VP offer
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/
Comment: I don’t think he’s into it, it’s just for “show.” I do believe he has already been in discussion w/Hillary to be #2 on her ticket. I think it’s all just “behind the scenes” right now & will come out later…
#230 There is another marketing term” cognitive dissonance” meaning buyer’s remorse…and I think a lot of BO people are starting to get it…
#104 TrishfromCanada on 07.08.08 at 8:49 pm
[[Brazile needs to wake up and smell the coffee: ]]
“Unity, how sweet it is – especially after a grueling primary marathon that pitted the nation’s most powerful political couple against a newcomer on the national stage. With the differences between the two candidates on issues is paper thin, it became a battle royale that, at times, pitted two superb candidates against each other based on the differences in their age, gender, personality, race and connotations associated with their names.”
http://www.donnabrazile.com/viewNews.cfm?id=285
Whenever I see a comment like the above I have to remember that one debate where it was brought out how BHO refused to say anything nice about the Clinton years yet at the same time he hired all of Bill Clinton’s people. So he didn’t beat the Clinton machine… he stole it.
#232 Jeremy
They don’t think 5 days is enough prep time to set up Bo’s circus. They feel they need at least 8
#240 tadgher99
LOL. Believe it’s up high.
The story on the Clinton holdouts on CNN just aired.
Basically they interveiwed one of her HillRaisers that said a lot of them are holding out cause they simply don’t like him and believe he is an elitist.
They also said large amounts of money during May was reported to going to McCain. Acording tot hme thats when the primaries were rapping up.
And they reinforced the roll call issue saying a lot of them are pushing for the roll call vote and until they do that they will not hand over money to OBama.
Pretty interesting stuff.
231 tadgher99
Most of the Obamabots don’t know what’s happened to them. They don’t have a clue about the psychological leverage to which they’ve been subjected through mainstream media and the Internet.
The founder of Facebook and a building full of cyber-operative have been silently working in Chicago for the past 16 months. Obama’s campaign has exploited visceral/primative emotions in a manner never seen before the Internet age. The decision to vote for Obama is largely based on emotional reaction rather than critical thought. Now they are attempting to back it up with logic, but the lack of substanitive argument quickly gives way to vitriolic personal attacks.
I love that that their comments are vile and reactive. He’s trying to roll his “tanks” into Denver before the roads close.
#223 Lets Get It Started Seems like we both listened to the same show and rushed over to our computers to report.
Donna Brazile and the Halfettes are the half time show
Good Grief …hope she doesn’t pull a Janet Jackson…we might all lose our lunch!! I bet they hit her knees!
#239~Confirmed. That is the info I have. Barack has his lair without the wrath of Bronc fans.
Okay guys, I thought I have seen it all, but betting on the candidates, it is beyond my believe. The election has become a “Las Vegas” episode for a lot of Americans. I wonder what the founding fathers will say about this.
Hillary Clinton will be Obama’s running mate. Wanna bet?
July 5, 2008
By Joel Stein
I’m up $178.60 on this election. Sure, $100 of that is because I bet my mom that Barack Obama would beat Hillary Clinton, and $50 was because I bet her that John Edwards would drop out before Super Tuesday. And although some would say it’s wrong for a son to take advantage of his mom’s gambling problem, I think I was showing tough love by taunting her deeply held feminist hopes and dreams in a way that Atlantic City never could.
The other $28.60? It was made at the websites InTrade and Iowa Electronics Markets. I could not possibly have taken money off my mom on these sites because they would require her to understand bids, calls and how to log onto a website.
The sites work like the stock market, only people buy and sell candidates’ electability, along with other important world events, like the winner of “American Idol.” The candidates’ chances are valued on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 meaning electoral victory. Right now on InTrade, for example, Obama-to-win is the favorite, trading at 64, compared with John McCain at 32.
These “prediction markets” are plenty accurate. The day before the 2004 presidential election, the InTrade market correctly predicted the winner in each state; in 2006, it got all the Senate races right. It seems that when large groups of people gamble with their own money, they’re incredibly smart, though that disputes everything I’ve ever witnessed at a blackjack table.
I started day trading in politics about a month ago. When my $500 check cleared with Iowa, I found my choices there were limited to whether the Democrats or Republicans would win the White House. And when I tried to buy a few hundred dollars of some sweet high-gas-price, high-unemployment Democratic action, only $20 in trading would go through because there were so few people on the site that there weren’t enough sellers. There’s a reason Bugsy Siegel didn’t build in Iowa City. InTrade, though, has lots of action. You can bet on whether Osama bin Laden will be “captured/neutralized” by the end of the year (selling at 13, which means the investors give it a 13 percent chance of happening). Or you could put money on the gay marriage ban passing in California (50 percent chance) or who will be the host of “Meet the Press” (keep your day job, Chris Matthews). But the real money at InTrade is being put on the presidential election. Bethan Lilja, the CEO of babyphotographer.com in Boston, early on put some serious money on McCain to win the Republican nomination. She wound up with a 19 times return on her cash, netting nearly $250,000.
I dropped $500 into my InTrade account and quickly learned that lots of things I thought would be exciting to bet on had been determined by the market long ago. There’s a 94.9 percent chance that the Democrats will control the House, and a 93.6 percent chance they’ll run the Senate. If I wanted to make babyphotographer.com kind of money, I was going to have to take some big risks.
I put $200 on Clinton to be Obama’s running mate (16 percent), thinking that was pretty smart compared with Virginia Sen. Jim Webb’s chances (19 percent). I figured there would be some media chatter saying Clinton was the logical choice, which would spike her numbers, at which point I would cash in. This has not worked out well for me. But I’m sticking to it, investing in Clinton every time her chances drop. If she gets tapped, I’ll make thousands.
Unlike Wall Street, these markets don’t close much: I can trade almost all the time — at night, on weekends and holidays and while I’m pretending to listen to my dad on the phone. It’s like owning a fantasy baseball team: I no longer care about what’s best for the country, as long as I have money on it. I have no idea if Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida would make a great GOP vice president, but I do know it would make me $800.
So far, I’ve offset my Clinton-as-running-mate losses with bets on Obama to win and on Florida going for him (up to 38, from the 28 I bought it at). I was, I believe, about to make a ton off Al Franken winning the Senate race in Minnesota, but then I decided that journalistic integrity demanded that I sell that prediction at a loss, because I was assigned to write about him. Of all the things I’ve ever gambled on, politics is the most fun. Because the goal of all bets isn’t to win money but to make you feel smart. This need is so great that people develop theories about slot machines.
And I now believe that I am at least $28.60 smarter than the average person. And more important, $150 smarter than my mom.

#243…Someone posted an article earlier today about Soros and his impact on the election and BO’s nomination. The article claims that Edwards was given a substantial contribution to his poverty initiatives shortly before his endorsement. Edwards would make a perfect VP choice and would hold a record for losing the election twice.
Show off the kids, do whatever it takes to win, and you call this change.
#243 Barack owes John, but not the VP slot. Edwards has been there and done that. Also, how would it look? I would be the first in a debate to point out…”Hey Barack, you choice as running mate, John Edward, not only lost his own state in 2004 when he was on the ticket with John Kerry, but he also was not endorsed by John Kerry during this year’s political primaries…Would you care to comment? and oh I do have a follow -up!

WSJ: Clinton’s Convention Role Being Negotiated
Democrats Weigh Putting Her Name Into Nomination
By JUNE KRONHOLZ
July 8, 2008; Page A4
Hillary Clinton won a hefty 1,600 convention delegates in six months of primaries. A big question now is whether to let them vote at the Democratic convention….
***
It is a “bone of contention” in the negotiations between the Clinton and Obama camps, said Democratic consultant Donna Brazile….
***
Sen. Clinton could decline to have her name put forward, and Sen. Obama then could be nominated by acclamation. Party rules require a roll call, but the party’s rules committee could adopt any agreement the two campaigns reach, said political consultant Tad Devine, who helped script the roll-call votes for Walter Mondale in 1984 and Michael Dukakis in 1988. Dropping the roll call would require a vote by the delegates, and would need choreographing to prevent any protests by disappointed Clinton delegates….
The problem is “there’s a strong feeling” that Sen. Clinton’s delegates need the chance to vote for her, Mr. Devine said. Many are still angry with a party decision that they feel deprived her of delegates from Michigan and Florida. “You don’t want a situation where anybody feels they’ve been cheated,” he said.
A second option would be for Sen. Clinton to be nominated, complete with laudatory speeches and happy floor demonstrations. By prearrangement, Sen. Clinton then would take her name out of consideration and endorse Sen. Obama’s nomination. “There’s nothing symbolically wrong to putting her name in,” followed by a scripted withdrawal, said Ms. Brazile. But the spectacle of a rapturous welcome for Sen. Clinton would be irresistible to television and could embarrass Sen. Obama.
The two camps also could agree to hold a “friendly” roll call, with the states tossing verbal bouquets to Sen. Clinton before voting for Sen. Obama. But unless lots of delegates switch their votes to Sen. Obama, a roll call would remind voters that Sen. Clinton won the primaries in such swing states as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Mexico and Florida, which could determine the outcome of the November election….
The worst scenario would be that Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama can’t reach agreement and the convention splits its support. Political experts said that is unlikely, because it would hurt both….

I think you’ve made a wise choice to pass on your 15 minutes of fame, at least this time around!
RE: GHETTO BRAZILA AND EARS COMMENTS
Don’t want to sound like a broken record but, the first comment strikes me as racist and the comments about Obama ears seems on the same level as comments about Hillary’s thighs. Seems unnecessary. We can make our case on the merits. We don’t need to ressort to that, do we? And, think of newcomers to this site. I’ve already had more than one experience with really great pro-Hillary folks who don’t want to participate because of some of the tone on the blog.

Hillarious!!
Though Michelle Obama would be pretty jelous of Ms. Donna…I wonder who be doing the JT tho…Bill Richardson comes to mind haha

That day will come – maybe even next week!
Murphy: I sent you an email w/new media source.
I’m off to go mail my PUMA fliers (the old ones) to locals in my state. I copied (was it alohapuma? I forgot now) another poster’s idea of looking up contributors using the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) website.
Great energy going on here today…

[[ I thought you were going to leave the Party if “THE DELEGATES” choose the nominee over the “WILL OF THE PEOPLE”?????
What happened, are you still a democrat???

A Real Democrat!!!]]
Donna Brazille said that she would leave the party if the SuperDelegates decided in some smoke filled backroom AT THE CONVENTION.
To me, when she said that, it was a clue that she was an BHO supporter and was in favor of the May 31st decision.
Just got an idea for a fun PUMA action:
How ’bout some fake “pink slips” to the media idiots from MSNBC and CNN? The idiot women who fawn and giggle over Obama (have to admit they’re looking a little sad these days)…. and the idiots like Keith Obermann and Chris (of the tinkling thigh) Matthews, Jeff Toobin, Jack Cafferty, Mika B. (a real idiot if I ever saw one – not that I have anything against blondes, but she sure gives the term “dumb blonde” a whole new meaning, etc….
Reason for “termination”: Incompetence, Gross negligence of duties, Failure to adhere to journalistic ethics, lack of professional standards, professional laziness, gullibility, stupidity, foolishness, you-name-it, etc.
How ’bout some fake checks from the Obama campaign (payoffs for all the free advertising)…..I sure wondered early on in the primaries why their coverage didn’t count as Obama campaign contributions or paid advertising. Thought for sure there must be some checks coming in for guys like Matthews and Obermann…. Why not send them some? Nothing a journalist likes less not to be taken seriously and accused of being unprofessional, for sale and ”
on the take.”
It would be nice to send copies to their bosses and advertisers too.
#251 Same comments. Geez. We’ve been outraged for months about the ways Clinton was objectified and now we’re going to feel justified to mock DB’s breasts. Please! I’m starting to feel very not at home here. You know, when you’re with a crowd and some person makes a remark that’s really rude about gay people, or Jews, or women, or whoever, and you cringe, and maybe you say something, but usually you don’t, but deep down you feel uncomfortable and know it’s not your crowd. And maybe that’s fine. I can keep doing my thing on my own, too. Don’t think not blogging here will be a big loss for me or others.
#251………ROTFLMAO

Regarding VP list “jumping ship” from a previous poster. Also, didn’t John Edwards say he WAS NOT interested or was pursuing the VP? He had not interest in that area. So, if he were to say “yes..I will be your VP Barack…” we have another flip flopper. 2 of them at that!
Webb Says No to VP Spot on Obama Ticket
Monday, July 7, 2008 5:02 PM
By: Rick Pedraza Article Font Size
Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., removed his name from consideration Monday as a potential vice presidential running mate for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
“Under no circumstances will I be a candidate for vice president,” Webb says in a written statement.
“Last week I communicated to Sen. Obama and his presidential campaign my firm intention to remain in the United States Senate, where I believe I am best equipped to serve the people of Virginia and this country,” he writes.
Webb, a former Navy secretary who was elected to the senate a year and a half ago, goes on to explain: “I entered elective politics because of my commitment to strengthen America’s national security posture, to promote economic fairness, and to increase government accountability. I have worked hard to deliver upon that commitment, and I am convinced that my efforts and talents toward those ends are best served in the Senate.”
Webb says he continues to strongly support the party’s presidential nominee and will work on behalf of Obama’s campaign in his home state of Virginia.

LMAO!
I wonder if Hillary really wants the nomination at this point. Do you think she would go for it, if it looked like she come out of the convention as the nominee?
I often wonder if she’s stepping back to regroup instead of standing in front of a train wreck about to happen. In some ways, the more Obama is resisted the more faux power he enjoys.
I’m sure most wise sages would let him fuel his own implosion. He appears to be well on the way.

Excellent analysis, alo
Evening Pumas. I’m on board for Operation Debt Paydown! One more big push.

#275 A few weeks ago I would say she was going all out but now that you brought it up and you think about it for a minute and put our own wishes aside and you where her would you want the nomination at this point.
Lets Get It – Your quote, “They also said large amounts of money during May was reported to going to McCain”
He said looking at Clinton supporters that had given $1000 to Hillary in the past, the group they looked at, have given since June 7th, have been split almost equally between *61 and McCain.

If war in Iran is inevitable, I’d rather have someone who is not naive and a habitual flip-flopper in the White House.
Obama can’t be trusted to keep a simple campaign pledge from one week to next… the candidate of “Change” means “changing his mind.”

When I registered on the PUMA site, I read that the purpose of PUMA was to protest the DNC and the process of the elections, not for the support or non-support of any particular candidate. However, as I read the blog comments, I find this to not be true. I read almost continuous positive and negative comments about particular candidates. If this is the intention of PUMA, I feel the positives and negatives of all candidates should be stated. If this is not done then the PUMA site does not come across as an honest and truthful site to all who read the blogs.
____________________________________________
The past couple of weeks have been especially difficult when it comes to McCain flip-flops.
* McCain supported the drilling moratorium; now he’s against it.
* McCain strongly opposes a windfall-tax on oil company profits. Three weeks earlier, he was perfectly comfortable with the idea.
* McCain thought Bush’s warrantless-wiretap program circumvented the law; now he believes the opposite.
* McCain defended “privatizing” Social Security. Now he says he’s against privatization (though he actually still supports it.)
Wait, I’m not done with the last two weeks yet….
* McCain wanted to change the Republican Party platform to protect abortion rights in cases of rape and incest. Now he doesn’t.
* McCain thought the estate tax was perfectly fair. Now he believes the opposite.
* He opposed indefinite detention of terrorist suspects. When the Supreme Court reached the same conclusion, he called it “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country.”
* McCain said he would “not impose a litmus test on any nominee.” He used to promise the opposite.
And these come after these other reversals from April and May:
* McCain believes the telecoms should be forced to explain their role in the administration’s warrantless surveillance program as a condition for retroactive immunity. He used to believe the opposite.
* McCain supported storing spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Now he believes the opposite.
* McCain supported moving “towards normalization of relations” with Cuba. Now he believes the opposite.
* McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Hamas. Now he believes the opposite.
* McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Syria. Now he believes the opposite.
* He argued the NRA should not have a role in the Republican Party’s policy making. Now he believes the opposite.
* McCain supported his own lobbying-reform legislation from 1997. Now he doesn’t.
* He wanted political support from radical televangelists like John Hagee and Rod Parsley. Now he doesn’t.
* McCain supported the Lieberman/Warner legislation to combat global warming. Now he doesn’t.
And these are the flip-flops I’ve noticed earlier:
* McCain pledged in February 2008 that he would not, under any circumstances, raise taxes. Specifically, McCain was asked if he is a “‘read my lips’ candidate, no new taxes, no matter what?” referring to George H.W. Bush’s 1988 pledge. “No new taxes,” McCain responded. Two weeks later, McCain said, “I’m not making a ‘read my lips’ statement, in that I will not raise taxes.”
* McCain is both for and against a “rogue state rollback” as a focus of his foreign policy vision.
* McCain says he considered and did not consider joining John Kerry’s Democratic ticket in 2004.
* In 1998, he championed raising cigarette taxes to fund programs to cut underage smoking, insisting that it would prevent illnesses and provide resources for public health programs. Now, McCain opposes a $0.61-per-pack tax increase, won’t commit to supporting a regulation bill he’s co-sponsoring, and has hired Philip Morris’ former lobbyist as his senior campaign adviser.
* McCain has changed his economic worldview on multiple occasions.
* McCain has changed his mind about a long-term U.S. military presence in Iraq on multiple occasions.
* McCain is both for and against attacking Barack Obama over his former pastor at his former church.
* McCain believes Americans are both better and worse off than they were before Bush took office.
* McCain is both for and against earmarks for Arizona.
* McCain believes his endorsement from radical televangelist John Hagee was both a good and bad idea.
* McCain’s first mortgage plan was premised on the notion that homeowners facing foreclosure shouldn’t be “rewarded” for acting “irresponsibly.” His second mortgage plan took largely the opposite position.
* McCain vowed, if elected, to balance the federal budget by the end of his first term. Soon after, he decided he would no longer even try to reach that goal.
* In February 2008, McCain reversed course on prohibiting waterboarding.
* McCain used to champion the Law of the Sea convention, even volunteering to testify on the treaty’s behalf before a Senate committee. Now he opposes it.
* McCain was a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to illegal immigrants’ kids who graduate from high school. Now he’s against it.
* On immigration policy in general, McCain announced in February 2008 that he would vote against his own legislation.
* In 2006, McCain sponsored legislation to require grassroots lobbying coalitions to reveal their financial donors. In 2007, after receiving “feedback” on the proposal, McCain told far-right activist groups that he opposes his own measure.
* McCain said before the war in Iraq, “We will win this conflict. We will win it easily.” Four years later, McCain said he knew all along that the war in Iraq war was “probably going to be long and hard and tough.”
* McCain said he was the “greatest critic” of Rumsfeld’s failed Iraq policy. In December 2003, McCain praised the same strategy as “a mission accomplished.” In March 2004, he said, “I’m confident we’re on the right course.” In December 2005, he said, “Overall, I think a year from now, we will have made a fair amount of progress if we stay the course.”
* McCain went from saying he would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade to saying the exact opposite.
* McCain went from saying gay marriage should be allowed, to saying gay marriage shouldn’t be allowed.
* McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as “an agent of intolerance” in 2002, but then decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans “deserved” the 9/11 attacks.
* McCain used to oppose Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy, but he reversed course in February.
* On a related note, he said 2005 that he opposed the tax cuts because they were “too tilted to the wealthy.” By 2007, he denied ever having said this, and insisted he opposed the cuts because of increased government spending.
* In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending “dirty money” to help finance Bush’s presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.
* McCain supported a major campaign-finance reform measure that bore his name. In June 2007, he abandoned his own legislation.
* McCain opposed a holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., before he supported it.
* McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.
* McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he’s pro-ethanol.
* McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.
* McCain decided in 2000 that he didn’t want anything to do with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, believing he “would taint the image of the ‘Straight Talk Express.’” Kissinger is now the Honorary Co-Chair for his presidential campaign in New York.
Confronted with the inconsistencies in McCain’s record in March, the senator’s aides told the New York Times that the senator “has evolved rather than switched positions in his 25-year career.” That’s a perfectly sensible spin — when a politician holds one position, and then, for apparently political reasons, decides to embrace the polar opposite position, it’s only natural for his or her aides to say the politician’s position has “evolved.”
But in McCain’s case, the spin is wholly unfulfilling. First, McCain sells himself as a pol who never sways with the wind, and whose willingness to be consistent in the face of pressure is proof of his character. Second, Republicans have spent the last four years or so making policy reversals the single most serious political crime in presidential politics. The dreaded “flip-flop” is, according to the GOP, the latest cardinal sin for someone seeking national office.
And if we’re playing by Republican rules, McCain’s “evolutions” should be a fairly serious problem. I’m beginning to think they might be.

Why wouldn’t she. She was robbed. No greater satisfaction could be had.
“Under no circumstances will I be a candidate for vice president,” Webb says in a written statement.

I have gotten SO MUCH feedback from Hillary supporters over the last few weeks. Some saddened. Some outraged. ALL heartfelt. People who have NEVER been politically involved before put their heart and soul into these efforts and are left feeling stunned and marginalized.
Hillary has asked that we follow her lead and support the presumptive Democratic nominee. Many don’t feel quite like doing that. However, the spectre of a McCain administration is somewhat frightening.
At the risk of being accused of being in denial and/or being delusional (again), I’d like to invite folks over to figure out IF we can get there from here? Please bring your questions, criticisms, hopes, fears, and requests. A few brave Obama supporters are joining us and we will see if we CAN get there from here. All I ask is that this be constructive and civil. At the very least we can agree to disagree but this is not intended to be an all out bitch session. And of course – food will be abundant and wine will flow. Please feel free to forward this invite to like-minded folks.
It’s got to be hard for her now, with all these sites still supporting her, a big B-Day bash being planned and who knows what will happen in Denver. She got around 18 million votes.
Not as good as a zoom… but if any of you still have an older Win98 go to Start, Run and type in MagGlass.
It will bring up a magnifying glass for close up work.
Or browse and place MagGlass.exe as a shortcut on your desktop.

I wonder if Hillary really wants the nomination at this point.
My guess is that Hillary wants to see *61 on his knees with the voters, and him beg her to help him win by being his VP. Oh yea. I also heard on the same CNN report that *61 would have already asked Hillary to be VP but they are concerned with the Big Dog. Yea, Bill and Hillary will play the role but they will not drink the requested kool-aid and kiss his ring.
Glad to see my Puma donation check was cashed today. Diane, I hope you got the “1 OF 18 MILLION” wristband that I sent with the check.
As I have stated before, I personally know of no former Hillary supporter who will be voting for BO.
#283…At least McCain has experience, even if some think it is not to their liking. BO on the other hand doesn’t have any experience. Who would I pick? McCain, hands down.
Now, see if you can find a list about BO please.

One of the main purposes of PUMAPAC is to defeat *61. He is a corrupt, dishonest, and unworthy of the Presidency. Every PUMA has a different strategy about the November election. Some of us are voting for McCain, or an Independent, or some might be sitting out the election.
However, we are all united to defeat *61 and the corrupt policies of the DP.
I really do not think that Hillary would benefit from being on the losing ticket in NOvember… go for 2012 Hillary!
Let’s have a quick vote, Does Hillary still want the nomination at this point? I will say Yes.
I will say NO to the VP slot
Please don’t let him ask her… please don’t let her accept… what a loss!!!
Thank you EWard, I forgot to mention the above, OB is corrupt, dishonest and unworthy of being the POTUS!
Here’s an excerpt from an article that speculates that Hillary is leaving open the option for a future presidential run:
WASHINGTON, July 8 (UPI) — U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton’s 2007 presidential bid may be over, but her e-mail lists and Web site live on, keeping a later candidacy an option, observers said.
#139 prplvette85 on 07.08.08 at 9:18 pm, WROTE,
[[ Diane tells me that our fundraiser last weekend helped Hillary reduce her debt by roughly half. One more push like that and Hillary can stop being Obama’s indentured servant on the campaign trail.]]
And anything after that point goes to BHO and the DNC.
why does every one call him *61?
I don’t think you work as hard as she did for 16 months and not want the nomination – she can’t say it out loud anymore…but I can’t imagine that she would refuse it..
#282 Billie joe
Yea you’re right, but for some reason I remember them saying more money went to John Mccain
if it’s lies… then its up to *63
I would like BO to ask her to be VP just so she can say NO!
No to VP. She’s too good to stand beside him. She’s a leader, not a follower.
283 shadowbee I really understand how you feel about McCain. I would never vote for him. I actually don’t like Obama either but will vote for him if he puts Hillary on the ticket. However, I am really the minority of people that write on this site and it is difficult for me to keep coming back. Like I said many times, the two things we all have in common is our respect and admiration for Hillary and what she stands for, and we do not like Obama as our candidate.
Sorry if this is not what you were trying to say, if it was, then you have me to back up up and a few others.

I am still fighting for HRC, unless and until she says she’s out, then I am fighting for her.
If she didn’t want the nomination she would have conceded and given up the delegates.
…and I’m talking PRESIDENT not VP…
Hey fellow PUMAS!
Today I finally received a response from my U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett. I had previously written him twice to ask for his vote for Hillary at the DP convention. I am disturbed by the “toe the party line – support the party” trance that seems to be muddling people’s minds. I certainly expected better of him. My reply follows.
Dear XXXXX:
You are right: I should have replied sooner to your June message about my endorsement of Barack Obama. I hope this response addresses your concerns. First, though, please note that in all of my personal remarks, I have offered only positive comments about Senator Clinton, and no criticism of any kind. Indeed, I said during the campaign that I preferred her health care plan to Senator Obama’s. Had she prevailed, I would have been her strong and active supporter.
I understand that you disagree with not only me but Speaker Pelosi, who took no position on the nomination until it was decided. You will recall that I was the first member of the Texas delegation to endorse Nancy Pelosi for Speaker, even though this meant endorsing against a male Texan colleague. My lifetime record of consistent support for women’s rights belies the charge of sexism, as does my personal interest not only in my wife and her important professional work but in the future for our two daughters, both of whom are committed young women leaders and both of whom supported Senator Obama before I did.
Furthermore, I believe my endorsement accurately reflected the preference of my congressional district, which voted overwhelmingly in favor of Senator Obama. My decision, hardly rushed, came after discussion with colleagues such as Reps. Jan Schakowsky, Rosa DeLauro, and Charlie Gonzalez, all of whom actively supported Senator Obama. And, as you will recall, apart from the caucuses, the primary election results in Travis and Hays County overwhelmingly favored Obama.
After more than seven difficult and troubling years of struggling almost daily with the White House, I long for the time when we have a progressive partner there. Frankly, I cannot see how supporting a Republican presidential nominee who is anti-choice, anti-environment, pro-Iraq surge, and pro-Bush tax cuts for the wealthy advances any of the many values that you, Senator Clinton, and I share. I hope we can make common cause on these urgent issues that unite us.
Please keep me advised of any federal matters with which I may be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Lloyd Doggett
Dear Congressman Doggett,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to reply to my letter. Beyond whatever our differences of opinion may be, I hope that we can always continue our dialog.
There is a reason that I am an Austinite.I was raised in Dallas / Fort Worth and when I came to Austin to attend the University of Texas, I knew that I had found my home. As one anonymous person said in a TV interview one time – ” Go 30 miles outside of Austin in any direction, and you would be considered a social deviant”. I call it the liberal oasis of Texas.
So much we have in common. I have watched your Congressional record since the 90′s and have many times expressed how fortunate our district is to have you represent us. If I have neglected to say so before, let me tell you how grateful I am to you. You have stood up and battled for the rights of EVERYBODY in your district – women, gays, minorities, liberals – we knew that we could always count on you. I am taking the time to tell you this because I feel strongly that there is something that you should reconsider.
As you stated in your letter, there are many reasons to support Senator Clinton. Then you make two curious statements –
“Had she prevailed, I would have been her strong and active supporter.”
And “I understand that you disagree with not only me but Speaker Pelosi, who took no position on the nomination until it was decided.”
On the first statement – what do you mean by “prevailed”? Let’s look at Webster’s dictionary – “to gain ascendency through strength or superiority”. You’ve got to be kidding! Barack Obama is a stronger candidate against John McCain in the general election? Barack Obama is superior to Hillary Clinton????
In what way, other than in his own mind? Do we as democrats not want to field the best candidate against John McCain in November?
Let’s look at your second statement:”…took no position on the nomination until it was decided.” Excuse me? Did I miss something here? Isn’t the nomination decided by vote at the convention? Isn’t that what all the caucus crap was about? To decide who went to the convention where the votes would be cast and the nomination decided?
I have had many discussions with fellow Texans and others outside of the state about what went on in my precinct on the primary night of March the 4th. We have all heard the horror stories by now. But I have often thought back to that night and to my thoughts as I looked out over that crowd. What separated me from those in Obama’s line? What were our differences that caused us to swear our allegiances so fervently against each other? Here are my observations:
Clinton Supporters / Obama Supporters
Mature Young
Women Mixed
Less blacks More blacks
Whites Non-whites
Mainstream Marginal
40+ <40
Parents Kids
It is curious that you would note the political affiliations of your two daughters,
“both of whom are committed young women leaders and both of whom supported Senator Obama before I did.”
This seems to echo the sentiments of Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy – were your daughters promised positions within the Democratic Party too? My point in all of this is that just because a more youthful faction of voters gets behind a certain candidate, does that make the candidate your choice? You know, we all have hope. We all want change. Obama did not invent this nor is he the pied piper who will lead us there. He can’t even lead his way out of… you name it! The real estate scam, the questions about his birth certificate, the FISA flip-flop, the Iraq war flip-flop, the campaign finance flip-flop, the lapel pin flip-flop, the Reverend Wright debacle, the wife who “for the first time in my adult life, I am proud to be an American” – what is that? Is that what we should allow our children to believe in, to get behind, to campaign for? The man who said of Hillary’s donors “I don’t need them. I just need the checks”???
I totally understand your desire to support the Democratic Party. I too have watched in horror as the last two Presidential elections have stained our country a crimson shade of red. Make no mistake that I identify myself as a Democrat. But Obama is simply unfit for the job. I fervently object to the notion that the nomination is a done deal and I vehemently reject the ideology that we must support “Democratic” principles by electing this man. I wouldn’t even let him date my own daughters, much less run this great country.
I respectfully ask that you attend the convention with an open mind and then do what your conscience dictates.
Respectfully yours,
XXXXX

Thanks for your lengthy posting re: McCain’s positions. I’m a little at a loss as to what your point is, though. And I do question the veracity of your facts re: McCain’s positions. After all, the man has a pretty lengthy legislative history. I would doubt very much anyone in politics for that long would not have reassessed their positions over time. By time, I don’t mean within the last 24 hours, 3 months, 6 wks, etc, I mean the last 20-30 YEARS. Anyone who never changes with the times is kind of dumb and bone-headed, don’t ya think? Might as well be voting for a box of rocks….
From Celebratehillary.com ACTION:
BLANKET YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD WITH YOUR VOICE WITHOUT SAYING A WORD!
We have neighborhood billboards (yard signs) for HIllary’s supporters to order and display during the Democratic Convention and during the General Election to show Hillary and the DNC we have not forgotten. Why? Because this will last MUCH longer than a few-second spot on the news.
Wolf Blitzer, CNN reported on June 19, 2008
James Clyburn, third-ranking member of congress, acknowledged that ‘there are no shortage of democratic members of the House who are not ready to jump on the Obama bandwagon because they are looking out for themselves’.
“A lot of them are going to look at the Congressional district to see how their congressional district voted and they will be holding back to get some signal from their constituents as to how they ought to conduct themselves.” James Clyburn – D
Just imagine your Elected Official that is up for re-election this year seeing his or her town blanketed with yard signs in support of Hillary before they get to the convention to vote as a Super Delegate. This is the MOST important political action you can take right now if you REALLY want to have some impact on what happens at the Democratic Convention!
This is not a few hundred people protesting somewhere for a few hours on a day or two. This is ordinary households with VOTERS each and every one of them are quietly having a voice by showing it through their yard sign message that sends this message constantly for weeks.
Many, MANY a social injustice has FINALLY gotten attention from a protest march. However, there are many that want to participate that may not be able to do so because they have family and work commitments and/or they simply cannot afford it.
“SHOW YOUR VOICE” is something that every single person can do without having to spend anything more than the cost of their yard sign. And, it will have a HUGE IMPACT because the message that is being sent to the public (who is also fed up with politics and may join in), the media who will cover this message in households across this nation from hundreds of LOCAL media outlets as well as National, and the politicians and parties – will be enormous!
Day and night for several days at a time – these red and blue yard signs will be our voice during very important dates. And, it will NOT be a visual that will fade into the background of landscapes because we have devised a strategic marketing plan that will catch the attention of everyone like a constant and loud drum beat.
Our plan is to have everyone place their yard signs out at the VERY SAME TIME so that the splash is obvious. Then pull the signs up and put it away – at the VERY same time. Then ONCE again – ALL the signs appear on the VERY SAME DATE at the VERY SAME TIME.
It will NOT be mistaken what our message will be – a message of protest to specific events by specific dates surrounding this messed-up Election year.
The media and the Democratic Party may be able to push Hillary out of the public-eye but, we can keep her name and our support for her alive during these important dates! But, most importantly our message will be one from ordinary citizens – VOTERS – demanding integrity and honesty and true democracy in future elections because the citizens in GREAT numbers have SHOWN THEIR VOICES!
Here is the schedule: (Please follow precisely for the most impact)
DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION
August 25 – 28, 2008
ELECTION
November 4, 2008
If we all follow the following time schedule, towns will WAKE UP to a slew of signs at the same time that will make a real impact.
TIME SCHEDULE:
August 17, 2008
Midnight to 6am
Signs Up
August 28, 2008
8pm – 6am
Signs Down
October 26, 2008
Midnight to 6am
Signs Up
November 5, 2008
8pm – 6am
Signs Down
The purpose for putting our signs up a few days prior to the convention is so the Super Delegates see how serious we are about this debacle of a campaign. They will TAKE NOTE before they vote on the floor of the convention because they will have this VISUAL in their head of actual VOTERS in neighborhoods across their district that participated in “SHOW YOUR VOICE”.
They no longer will have aids that are taking tons of letters and phone calls from angry voters that they may or may not ever know about. They will NOW see from their own eyes – how many of the 18 million are sticking together and how many more are joining this movement.
After all, 2010 midterm elections when ALL of these elected officials (from Congress) are up for re-election.
So, if you REALLY WANT TO DO SOMETHING to have the best chance to have your voices heard – then order your yard sign – post your yard sign on the scheduled dates and times and SHOW YOUR VOICE!
If you would like to be a Volunteer Organizer or Sign Assistant in this effort for your neighborhood and/or community, then please email us at info@celebratehillary.com. In the subject line of your email please type SHOW YOUR VOICE.
Then just give us your name, city, state, and phone number and we will contact you for a Conference Call.
Thank you for participating to SHOW YOUR VOICE!

If this is not done then the PUMA site does not come across as an honest and truthful site to all who read the blogs
“Support or non-support of a candidate…” “However, on this BLOG…I read continuous positives and negative comments about particular candidate.”
I don’t understand your issue? This is a blog. The governing body has allowed registered users to post various opinions within limits. To my knowledge, there is not rule of not saying positives or negatives regarding candidates. You have stated the mission goals correctly. That has nothing to do with our opinions and our opinions are parallel to said goals. I really think you may want to re-read your post. BTW, good evening!
I just wonder in that private meeting and on that plane ride she told him no to the VP slot. If they were a true team that Friday would of been a great day to announce the ticket and they didn’t and he still is out looking.
For those of you with a scroll wheel on your mouse….don’t know if you’ve heard this trick or not but if it helps even one PUMA……hold down the ctrl button on your keyboard and then move the scroll. Print on screen will get larger or smaller. can set to your appetite!!

I am still fighting for HRC, unless and until she says she’s out, then I am fighting for her.
If she didn’t want the nomination she would have conceded and given up the delegates.
I totally agree!

My instinct is she wants it unless it becomes a sure no-win in November. I don’t think that’s the case, but if Obama is allowed to continue to steamroll and project false invincibility, then it’s going to be hard to win in November.
Regarding VP
NO! NO!
#264 BrooklynNY: Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to send Matthews & Olbermann & the others you mentioned fake checks and accuse them of taking payoffs. They have earned that accusation. They are despicable and the WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD!!!
#311…That is an excellent letter! You made the points that we all need to remember! Good JOB!
#314 It was my understanding that she suspended to keep her delegates, fundraising efforts, etc. However, I believe one of the reasons she kept her delegates was so that she could have a roll call on the convention floor- the intent being that it would, at the very least, have historical significance for her….it is now one of the points that the Obama camp wants to negotiate.

Ref #33 Thank you for your response and for the time you have taken to respond to my question.
#320 alohapuma I was trying to come up with the right words and you did with the sure no-win in November to not want it. Thanks!
My opt:
No VP—under any circumstance (as Jim Webb said).
Let him ask. Let her tell him..”take it to the stadium Barack…and will see ya back at the Senate Chamber soon.”
As Presidential Nominee for this year~mixed on that one. He has made such a mess of the DP, she would have to clean that up before she could really get back to were she was pre June 7.
But I don’t think we are at that point or will ever get there.
320 alohapuma
“A sure no-win in November…..”
Are you kidding me, against McCain? Of course she would win.
PUMAs that want to vote for McCain, please be kind to other PUMAs that do not share your views of voting for him.
We are all trying our best to reach out and bring Hillary supports on to this site. We are fighting for Hillary and what she stood for, not to specifically elect McCain.

What I’m thinking is that the Obama campaign knows they need Hillary Clinton, especially now since he is turning into this flip floper, putting Hillary on the ticket would essentially bring back all those stories and news reports about the “Dream Ticket” and it would get people fired up.
However, I don’t think the OBama campaign wants her, altho they need her they don’t want her so I’m thinking Bill Richardson would be a choice for them. I think Bill sold out for a reason and that could be the vp slot.
Altho, as a latino I can assure you, no one knows who Bill Richardson is because he is no Ceasar Chavez or mayor of LA. So he wouldn’t help them at all.
In regards to what Hillary wants, she still wants the nomination which is why she suspended the campaign. You never know what could happen.
I personally want to see Obama begging her and then have her pubicly say no. If she sees that Obama is a loseing effort then she will not take it even if it helps the party.
Hi, all!
Just finished watching Warren Beatty tribute and Bill was ourtstanding! He gave the best speech and he received a standing ovation when he came on stage!
Hi, everone, I’m glad to be back, much thanks to Murphy, who helped me greatly. I used to be Witchy 1, then Witchy2, and finally 2Witchy. I need to tell you all, please delete your Google searches, don’t download any add-ons from them(especially Spyware). I did and it began to run when I was here-I cancelled the scan, but it gave me a false report and dumped from me the PAC and gave all kinds of grief. A friend who was a Hillary volunteer, had his site shut down and had to re-build it. On the subject of demonstration, has anyone read the book,
“Truth or Dare” by Starhawk? She is an a peace activist and leader in spiritual and eco-feminist movements and has some really good input on peaceful Demonstration. I’ve never had a chance to hear her speak, but she has given lectures and worked with groups on safe ways to demonstrate. The book I have was written in the 90′s. She has been active in many demonstrations and even gone to jail, she’s a witch, but very smart and has many great things to say about demonstration. She has a webpage at: http://www.starhawk.org/
and she could be helpul to our cause if anyone is interested in contacting her. I know we all have different ideas about spirituality, but if anyone is interested do check her out. I’ll be back soon, have some things I gotta do.

Didn’t the Clinton’s learn anything from what Obama has done so far? Did they actually think Obama wouldn’t just use them?
Ask Hillary if it feels crowded under that bus.
Rock Star Obama REALLY thinks he is the Messiah and can do or say ANYTHING and still be elected.
This guy has to go down. It’s getting to where I feel sick at hearing his name.

Call me a silly PUMA, but I think Hillary wants to start Universal Health Care so badly that she would take a position from *61 to help push the health care issue to the forefront. I say, you go girl…what ever makes it happen for all of our people that are sick and have no help.
#328 Jeremy
I tend to agree with you on that one. The Democratic Party is in such disarray now – so much damage has been done by Dean, Pelosi and others, it’s going to take awhile to clean it out – that’s if it’s even possible to clean it out at all. There is no cohesiveness left in the party and a lot of hard feelings. The place needs to be cleansed and disinfected. That may take time. There ain’t a lot of that available before the convention and the Nov 4th election. I think the Dems may have screwed themselves one more time. I can’t see Obama making it through a general election. I honestly can’t. And even if Hillary does get the nomination by the grace of God, she’d have quite a job of removing all the vermin from the party. Not that I don’t think she could do it, but it ain’t going to be a pretty sight….seeing all those two-faced, broken, bought-off, good time Charlie politicians running for cover, pretending to be her pals.
I hope she’s got a great big broom to sweep them all to the curb!
And I’ll help!
#344 Why sweep when you can just run them over them with a bus?
Have a bigger mess to clean up lol.
goanderson – Great video….really great. Brought tears to my eyes.
My comment about Hillary wanting the nomination is really a concern that Obama will steamroll this to a point where he’s not going to win himself, but then leave the party so fractured and wounded no democratic candidate can win.

Also, I was commenting that it seemed that only negatives about Obama were allowed on this site and I felt we wouldn’t come across as an honest and truthful site if positive and negatives of all candidates could not be posted. Also, as I stated in my above post, I remember reading the purpose of PUMA was not to endorse a particular candidate. Sorry if my blog was confusing.

#343 BrooklynNY~ I am with you. Good post! It is going to take a “power wash” cleaning. That means a slam dunk lose in November, not only on the top, but down ticket as well. Saying this to many reading, these words DO NOT IMPLY or REFER that I SUPPORT REPUBLICANS. I hate bold type, but I want to make my position perfectly clear. When I was in grad school, I asked my sponsoring professor” what it would take for………( a lot of detail) something to happen?” His reply, for everyone/everything to fail. That would get the attention of the master(s). She needs a clean party. Friends of mine are already poking fun at Barack regarding the stadium thing…with remarks as “way over the top” and “isn’t that a bit cheesy?” This is tough right now…granted.

The site is not debating the various candidates, etc. We all agree on certain things. NOBAMA is the main issue for most of us. DNC corruption, etc. is a close second. Some of us support McCain, some of us don’t, some will vote for third candidates, etc. People who have chosen to vote for McCain are aware of his positions, his history, etc., and very capable of researching him for themselves. Regardless of whatever drawbacks he may have they still choose to support him. (I am one of those people). That demonstrates the strength of their opposition to Obama and the DNC. So while your lengthy posting re: McCain was submitted in all good faith I am sure, it was sort of beside the point of this blog.
goodnight dmrr….it’s been a good night.

Thanks for your clarification of your post. I agree, we do NOT endorse one candidate or another. However, stated opinion of candidates, be it negative or positive does not mean endorsement or a non-endorsement of the opposing view. It is called venting. Thanks again for the post.

#283 Thanks for pointing out the perceived flaws of McCain. Its important that everyone can talk here as long as we are not subjected to anymore hate filled Obamaite tirades. Still I am voting for McCain. He has been serving the country for 30 years making hard decisions and has the experience to be President. I would have rather had Hillary but there is no way I will vote for BO. I don’t require perfection in anyone, I look for basic honesty and intelligence. After seeing the way women were disregarded by the DNC and BOites I am disgusted with both of them
goandersen, pssst…not mine either….

#358 Billiejjoe,
IMHO you just stated the most compelling reason as to why Hillary will not get the nomination nor be veep.
Do you think she will forget how she was stabbed in the back? When Hillary eventually becomes president heads will roll.
And Dean and company know it. They are running scared. “O” is an unelectable candidate. After the general Hillary will emerge as the most powerful democrat in the country.
We need to support her ’cause you can bet they (Dean and company) haven’t finished with her yet.
Maybe I’m being paranoid here but, maybe not.

Finally Newsweek is peeling the layer off of BO’s financial onion. Wonder if his site will debunk these points on his Stop the Smear page.
Here, then, are four myths about Obama’s much-vaunted money machine—and the reality behind them.
1. Obama Opted Out of Public Financing for Reasons of Principle
Um, no. This one would’ve been too obvious to refute, except that when Obama ducked his promise to “aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election” last month, he tried to portray the decision as something other than pure pragmatism. “Declare your independence from this broken system,” he told supporters. Baloney. In early 2007, Obama informed Larry King that “the presidential public financing system works,” and the next month, he co-sponsored legislation to preserve the current setup. At the time, Obama was well-aware of the havoc 527s could wreak; after all, he’d watched the Swiftboat Vets attack John Kerry. And it was no secret—as Howard Dean had proved more than three years earlier—that the Internet could democratize the process of funding a favored politician. Since then, the 527s haven’t gotten scarier, and the Web hasn’t gotten webbier. What’s changed is that it’s now Obama (not Kerry) who’s in the GOP’s crosshairs and Obama (not Dean) who’s rolling in the dough. So he did what any pol would do—he broke his pledge and followed the money. This was undoubtedly a wise move—with his money machine up and running, he’ll certainly raise more than the $84.1 million he’d receive from taxpayers and have a better chance of winning the White House because of it. But it’s hardly principled.
2. Obama Gets All—or Even the Vast Majority—of His Money from Small Donors
Rationalizing his decision, Obama said that only by opting out of public financing would his campaign be “truly funded by the American people.” Besides being sort of absurd on its face—when did accepting $3 from each individual taxpayers become less egalitarian than accepting private money?—the senator’s claim rests on a shaky premise: that all (or even most) of Obama’s cash comes from regular guys and gals sending in $5 donations over the Internets. Fact is, that’s not true. Now, don’t get me wrong. Obama’s massive fundraising machine—which rejects money from federal lobbyists and PACs and boasts a record number of small-sum donors among its 1.5 million individual contributors—deserves a ton of praise. It is, simply put, the most democratic in American political history.
That said, Obama’s fundraising base still looks a lot like Al Gore’s or John Kerry’s. For starters, the majority of Obama’s money continues to come from folks with fat(ter) wallets. In the primaries, for example, donations larger than $200 accounted for 55 percent of Obama’s haul, or about $150 million. Lawyers forked over $18 million of that total; the largest single contributor was Goldman Sachs. And now that the primaries are over, Obama is free—like McCain—to funnel checks larger than $2,300 through the national party. He’s taking full advantage of that luxury. In June, Obama reaped $6 million from guests at Ethel Kennedy’s Hickory Hill home in Virginia. Ten days ago, the campaign pulled in $5 million at a Hollywood fundraiser. And just last night, Obama visited a pair of plush money events in the tony suburbs of Atlanta. At each appearance, supporters shelled out $28,500—the legal limit on donations to the DNC—for the privilege of Obama’s presence. And there’s more where that came from. As Penny Pritzker, Obama’s campaign finance chairwoman, told the New York Times recently, the main reason the campaign has relied on small donors for so long is that it had yet to find the time to milk the big ones. “We have not been able to have much of the senator’s time during the primaries,” she said, “so we had to rely more on the Internet.”
None of which is to say that Obama’s money machine isn’t the most democratic we’ve ever seen. It is. (At least 90 percent of his donors—more than 1.3 million—give small sums of money.) It’s just that it’s not more democratic than public financing–despite the spin from Chicago.
3. The Share of Obama’s Money That Comes From Small Donors Is Completely Unprecedented
This one’s kind of surprising. Obama has certainly set the record for small-sum donations as a share of his total take—about 45 percent of his money comes from checks of $200 or less. But while Obama is definitely doing better with small donors than previous presidential candidates, it’s not by the *astronomical* margin you might have assumed. According to an analysis by Joseph Graf, 31 percent of Bush’s money in 2004 came from donations of $200 or less (compared to 16 percent in 2000). Kerry, meanwhile, raised 37 percent of his money in 2004 from small donors (as compared to 20 percent for Gore in 2000). That’s only eight points less than Obama—and there’s a strong chance Kerry would’ve increased his haul with 2008′s improved technology.
4. Obama Won’t Receive Any Help From Outside Groups
Yesterday, I mentioned a few of the extracurricular organizations planning to boost McCain’s bid with unregulated and unrestricted “soft money” investments: the NRA, the Christian Defense Coalition and the former Swift Boat Vets for Truth (among others). But McCain’s not alone. Even though the Obama campaign has sought to maintain message control by discouraging its top fundraisers from giving to outside orgs—a directive that killed off a pair of Democratic-aligned soft-money groups, Fund for America and Progressive Media U.S.A., in their infancy—there may be more 527s poised to assist the senator from Illinois than his rival from Arizona. These include America Votes, an umbrella organization planning a $20 million voter mobilization drive; PowerPAC.org, also planning to invest $15 million on GOTV; a host of unions, including the SEI and A.F.L.-C.I.O., which announced its $53.4 million election effort late last month; and, of course, MoveOn.org, which recently closed its 527 but is hoping to raise some $40 million for the general election through its political action committee.

So looks like BO is using his daughters to gain something (what?). I wonder if MSNBC will accuse him of pimping? Oh wait that might be racist!
I would like to read more about McCains family. I know he has 7 kids, some are adopted, his youngest daughter was adopted while Cindy was on one of her health care missions to see Mother Theresa. Two of his kids have been to Iraq to serve in the war. He has 4 grand kids, I think. But he really doesn’t invade their privacy even though his youngest daughter is 16 (I think). His first wife, mother of the oldest kids, has supported his candidacy for Senator and the Presidency. I wouldn’t want to invade their privacy but they sure sound like a nice, interesting family.

brooklynNY, Priceless lol!
seattlegirl, I imagine there are plenty of websites with McCains family…I think even his website tells about them.
Hey has anyone said anything yet about Giving to Obama ‘lottery’ called illegal gambling?
I heard about an investigation in Minnesota on POTUS / XM this morning – but haven’t seen anything online…. other than this….

#402 … this is what I use to defend McCain against accusations of being a racist … like his politics or not, he seems to be a decent man, unlike you-know-who:
jpost.com 6/30/08: Also little-known is the story of McCain’s youngest child. As a result of a 1991 Cindy McCain visit to Mother Teresa’s orphanage in Bangladesh, the McCains adopted an infant daughter dying from a host of health issues. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save the little girl’s life, so the McCains, already the parents of six children, brought the child home to America, and paid for desperately needed surgeries and years of rehabilitation. That child is their teenage daughter Bridget. In fact, there was a second infant girl brought back from the orphanage that the McCains saved. She ended up being adopted by one of McCain’s aides, Wes Gullett, and his wife. “We were called at midnight by Cindy,” Gullett has stated, and “five days later we met our new daughter Nicki at the LA airport.”
This fall, Nicki will be a high school junior. Even after years of expensive medical treatment for the child, Gullett says, “I never saw a hospital bill” for her care. It is an extraordinary man who commits himself to such generous and heroic acts; it is an extraordinary politician who won’t utter a word about such acts for political aggrandizement.
Jeremy, LOL….this boats a rockin’ and OB is slipping and a sliding!
Get the mops, looks like we’re going to be cleaning up the BM….Barack Movement!
#403 BrooklynNy~ and some Fabulosa to get rid of the stench after everything is clean. You know, that lingering smell that just can’t call it quits even with clorox?
Crap…Bob Barr is running for president…..Crap….thats gonna hurt McCain……crap, crap, crap.
Cat, your right, I do believe McCain is a good person. That story sheds a lot of light.
411..matt, i don’t get it.

I don’t think you’re being paranoid, I do think they will continue trying to stick it to Hillary. And I do agree with you that Hillary will emerge as the most powerful Democrat in the party. (What a lovely thought). I also think Dean, Pelosi and the other weasels know it. Looking at Dean’s face whenever I see him on TV or in newspapers, I see a man who’s days are numbered and he knows it. He’s the architect of the stupidest Democratic strategic planning in the history of American politics, if you ask me. He’s going to go down in history as a lunatic. A laughingstock. The biggest failure that ever called himself a Democrat. This whole convention flap is turning into a complete debacle. They “built it,” but unlike Kevin Costner’s “Field of Dreams,” I don’t think anyone’s “going to come.” I don’t think a mass of trance-out, glassy-eyed Obamabots counts….
Hillary may be biding her time, but believe me, as #358 BillieJos tated above in #358, “Payback is a B*#^h!!! They’ll get theirs. And won’t it be sweet.

Bob Barr is running as a libertarian. He is going to take votes away form McCain and that could cause alot of problems in battleground states.

Dem Platform to Include Two Registered Lobbyists
By Jonathan Allen, CQ Staff
Tue Jul 8, 6:19 PM ET
Lobbyists will be involved in writing the Democratic platform under Barack Obama, who has campaigned against special interest influence in Washington and bashed his rivals for accepting contributions from paid lobbyists.
Two members of the Democratic Party’s platform drafting committee, Thea Lee of the AFL-CIO and Donna Harris-Aiken of the National Education Association, are registered lobbyists. The panelists, who will submit their plan to the party’s full platform committee for ratification next month, were announced Tuesday in a joint release from the Democratic National Committee and the Obama campaign.
The principal author of the platform draft is Karen Kornbluh, an aide in Obama’s Senate office who is married to telecommunications lobbyist Jim Halpert. Halpert has lobbied for Time Warner, Amazon, Comcast, eBay, Experian and two electronic commerce consortia in recent years, according to records filed with the House of Representatives.
Obama has made reform of Washington, particularly limiting the influence of lobbyists on the policy process, a central theme of his campaign.
“I intend to tell the corporate lobbyists that their days of setting the agenda in Washington are over, that they had not funded my campaigns, and from my first day as president, I will launch the most sweeping ethics reform in U.S. history,” Obama told New Hampshire Public Radio late last year.
The Obama campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
Obama does not accept contributions from political action committees or from registered federal lobbyists but he does collect money from the corporate executives who employe the lobbyists and he does allow lobbyists to bundle contributions to him, a practice that experts say can magnify their influence.
He has made an art form of blistering rivals for accepting donations from lobbyists — first Democratic primary opponent Hillary Rodham Clinton and now presumed Republican nominee John McCain.
“John McCain’s campaign and the Republican National Committee are fueled by contributions from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs,” Obama said recently. The independent, non-partisan Factcheck.org found that less than two percent of the money collected by McCain — and an even smaller share gathered by the RNC — came from lobbyists and PACs.
Obama cited those donations as a reason for rejecting public financing for his campaign after having indicated that he would accept public funds and forgo private money for the general election. Factcheck.org called his reasoning “a lame excuse” because of the small share of McCain’s funds that come from those sources.
Obama and his aides have sometimes sought to draw a distinction between those who lobby for corporations and those who lobby for non-corporate interests such as the unions that Harris-Aiken and Lee represent. But at other times, the Obama camp has declined to distinguish between corporate and non-corporate lobbyists.
The inclusion of lobbyists and the spouse of a lobbyist on the platform drafting committee underscores the difficulty of finding qualified policy professionals who have no ties to organizations that seek to influence government actions.
Last month, the Obama campaign accepted the resignation of the original head of its vice presidential selection committee, Jim Johnson, after it was revealed that Johnson, a former chief of secondary home-mortgage giant Fannie Mae, had been the beneficiary of a low-interest loan from Countrywide.
Several members of Obama’s inner circle are former lobbyists, including vice presidential selection committee member Eric Holder, a former Justice Department official who later lobbied for Global Crossing.
Another member of the drafting committee, Ron His Horse is Thunder, is chairman of Chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of North Dakota, which has hired lobbyists to obtain earmarks and pursue other legislative goals.
The Democratic Party and Obama campaign are encouraging voters to organize platform meetings and report results to the drafting committee, which will hold a hearing Aug. 1 in Cleveland and finalize its work Aug. 3. That draft will be presented to the full platform committee Aug. 9 in Pittsburgh.
The drafting committe will be headed by Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, Michael Yaki, a former aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Kornbluh.
thanks matt…never heard of him.
I really hope the Dems lose big in November and then Hillary comes around in 2012 and blows the party away. She could take over the party and make it into the party its supposed to be. A party that cares about people and has reasonable ideas that help everyone, ideas that both parties will like. Theres my dream.
Bob Barr has been in this equation since everyone has announced. I would not worry so much about Bob Barr as I would Ron Paul. Paul only suspended a very impressive campaign for the Republican Nominee. He was the one who raised 3 million on line in less than a week not long after Romney dropped out. The time line may be off, but within reason. The point is, his visibility, in Texas, is on the rise.
Well, one thing for certain, someone will win and someone will lose.
This is the worst political race I have ever lived through.

Impressive. Never checked to see if he had a website.
Thanks 408 Cat. Very interesting and involved family, the McCains.
#415 Matt2008A,
That is precisely the reason why I’m not staying home on Nov 4. If not Hillary then McCain for me. Thank you all for respecting my opinion.
I am Roxy in Cali and I approve this message.
#409 bythelake, #410 Jeremy
LOL. You guys are hysterical.
Maybe we should send some cleaning supplies to the DNC? Maybe Dean, Pelosi could stop their ironing of BMs shirts and polishing of his shoes just long enough to put a dent in the Democratic house-cleaining so desperately needed, so Hillary won’t have so much work to do when she comes in with the power cleaners and the industrial strength disinfectants? Drats….but they’d probably screw up that job too!
Am turning in for the night…have a good night!
Hey, the post office is a stickler with cleaning supplies BUT, we could send coupons!
Goodnight,bythelake.
Pleasant dreams.

Sounds like a plan.
Oh, I’d go for the money then donate it to Hilllary lol…goodnight!
Bring it up tomorrow to the action center….oh, we’re so bad. I love it!

I am with you 100 percent Roxy in cali. If nothing else, we need to add to our goals…NO SITTING THIS OUT IS ALOUD. And for those reading here and taking notes, that is not an endorsement for any particular candidate. WE have a lot to choose from. Barack is not an option. Many left for you to to decide on, but sitting it out, or writing in a name is not an option. No No No.
#425 Roxy in cali on 07.09.08 at 12:28 am
I understand perfectly. My mother is scarred of BO. I am scarred of BO. The only reasons we are voting for McCain is to prevent BO from being elected.
We are both still loyal Hillary supporters and will vote for her if any chance comes
goodnight bythelake
Hey Pumas!!
This message is for Murphy. Hi Murphy! I sent an email to denverquestions@pumapac.org about 4 days ago asking about the bus leaving NYC, as I am interested in joining. I have concerns about the skeds, since I need to ask for days off from work. But to this day, I have not received any reply. I have donated for the Denver bus and I just want to know to whom I should direct these questions, to you or a local NY group. Please reply to my email. Thanks!
Goodnight all!! More power Pumas!!!

At first I was a little worried when I heard about Bob Barr, but I think he may be balanced out by Ralph Nader if Ralph decides to actually be on the ballot again this election. The far left and far right will kind of cancel each other out…Also a lot of the people who may vote for Barr might not have voted at all if he wasn’t on the ballot or would have voted for a write-in, etc. If Barr stays in, just pray Nader does too.
Evening PUMAs. Sorry ONCE again for being late. Got alot going on here. Has anyone heard news of Hillary’s debt? Were we able to at least make a dent in it? (Haven’t read back posts yet so if anyone mentioned it earlier I apologize)

I’d like to add another tip for those that aren’t familiar with this tip and also might find it useful. If you use Internet Explorer 7 or any browser that has the tabbed feature — hold down the Ctrl key when you click on a link and it’ll open the link in a new tabbed page. This way — when you’re done viewing the linked page, you can close that new tab page or just click on the original blog page tab to come back to where you left off.
Hi PUMAs
I was just listening to Pat Buchanan on FOX News. He believes that the Republicans should be defining *61 and his flip flop positions as they did with McGovern in 1972.

Do you have any more information about contacting or emailing the superdelegates?

Jeremy, what’s the wording, slob the decks or deck the slobs. I’ve completely lost my boat reference guide.
Are you talking about swab the decks, and deck the BOs
#426 BrooklynNY on 07.09.08 at 12:29 am
This is a job for “More than 2 Hands.” It is like the geek squad, but there talent isn’t technical, it is in the “master cleaner.” They opened up an office not far from where I work. They all drive VWBeetles with 2 “scrubbing hands with gloves on” on each side of the VW. And the VW is the same color of green as the can of “Scrubbing Bubbles.” Maybe we have a new job for them.?.

LOL. You’ve got me in stitches! Can you just see a band of little green VWBeetles pulling up to Capitol Hill? Sort of like the cleaning version of Ghostbusters. A job for “More than 2 Hands!”
#442 BillieJo
Re: Are you talking about swab the decks, and deck the BOs
————————-
How ’bout swab the decks (I was going to substitute the “e” in decks for another vowel…..but hey, this isn’t a matter for the CDC, lol, even if the “other” word does illustrate what these sorry excuses for politicians are) and deck the BOs.
#449 BrooklynNY
Yeah…and to the tune of “who let the dogs out?” I remember when this place opened up and I saw those VW with the hands…and at first there were only like 3 and I said oh, ok??? a little kinky here (did not know at the time it was a cleaning business)…now there is a fleet. Obviously they get the job done. Next investigation….more to report on “Takes More than 2 Hands.”

Quite simply, they offer a comprehensive range of services for a reasonable price. Hop to it, you bum. You’ve got company coming over tonight — do you really want them to think you live like this?
I think this is what the DNC needs!
By the way Murphy, great video!
Loved it. Where do you find these things?
Goodnight Matt!
matt: If it wasn’t so imperative for me to make sure *61 doesn’t get in the White House, I would vote Libertarian as a protest because the thought of voting Republican… But I would like to stay out of a war with Iran, so I don’t consider that an option for this particular election.
#453 Jeremy
Love it! I even opened their website. Sounds like something Howard an the DNC could use….As a public service I think we should send them the link, or better still a free estimate. Sadly the cost may be the 2008 election, but hey, if it gets the DNC in spick and span shape for Hillary it might be worth it. Come to think of it Donna may need an estimate too – something to take the shame of dirty politics and hypocrisy off her “persona” before the company arrives.
#36 mijabsnji
VERY interesting read. Some of the stuff on there even I didn’t know about him.
#457 BooklynNY
I have went over their website, too. Wow, you got all of this talent in your own back yard and don’t realize. The picture of the State Capitol Building is visually a statement. If you aren’t aware, the Texas Capitol Building in larger ( in height ) than the DC Capitol Building. And Texas politics can rank right up there with the best fishes…lol. So, when I saw that…meaning “we can even clean up the state capitol building” my message perceived…I said…yep..this is it. And they tell it like it is. Hey slob, get your act together before the world steps in. Yeah!
Just when you thought you’d have to wait until tomorrow to read Nobama articles, AT comes out with some new awesome satire. Look at the first link first: it offers the most explanation, so you get the jokes.

I think they were brainstorming the business after Dubya went to DC. Now, since our the current governor…the hand pick of Dubya when he left us…Rick Perry, is loved so that the Gov’s Mansion was set on fire several weeks back….they knew the time was ripe for cleaning. “sea of 75,000 people swarmed around” him at a gathering in Portland, Oregon, in May, making this “the largest crowd of his campaign.”
Did Mr. Falcone also mention (And I believe it was Oregon, please correct me if I am mistaken) that Senator Obama had booked a band to open up his appearance in Oregon? And not only that, he had his own speeches sandwiched in between the band’s performances to ensure that the people in the crowd not oly came, but stayed there for the entire thing.

“But keeping her name off the roll call could anger her supporters”
DUH! HOW STUPID CAN THE DNC BE! I swear, if the media sees it, we see it, EVERYONE sees it, why can’t the people in POWER see it? I just don’t get it. Has everybody just gone crazy? I mean seriously! (And BillieJo just wanted to say that’s not directed at you.
Responding to the article)
At first, I got very angry when I received an “anti-McCain” flier from the NEA, but then I noticed something: no where did they mention *61.
I definitely think I’m going to write them a letter, especially since they are one of the two lobbyists that are supposedly helping to set a Democratic agenda.

I don’t like that my union dues are going towards spreading filth: all it says is that McCain is looking at merit pay, which guess what, so is *61–which they fail to mention. Hillary was the only one who was teacher friendly.
#265 Anna7000
Anna makes a good point PUMAs. Remember that your comments and words directly reflect the rest of PUMAPac. We want to have credibility so, while I understand that we need to vent from time to time, let’s try to keep namecalling to a minimum. As I’m told at work regarding using our email system “It’s the headline test. Don’t say anything in an email that you wouldn’t want to see on the front page of the newspaper”. (Er. Murphy if I’m usurping your authority at all please let me know. And PUMAs if I’m being pushy, please let me know!)
Supplemental to previous post:
I wouldn’t be so arrogant as to say that I have not had my share in these types of comments towards BHO. So if I seemed to be displaying that in what I said I apologize. What I meant was that in the future we should try and check ourselves and make sure we keep it passionate, but diplomatic at the same time.
And I think everyone has gone onto bed. ^.^; So I will see you tomorrow PUMAs!
NEA (National Education Association)
1201 16th Street NW
Washington, DC 20036
Dear National Education Association:
I am writing in regards to your literature regarding the 2008 Presidential election. First of all, there is ONLY one candidate who is teacher friendly, and that is Hillary Clinton (who could still win the nomination). John McCain comes in a close second. Did you know his youngest daughter is adopted from Bangladesh because the orphanage she was in couldn’t afford the medical bills for her as an infant? Did you know that his son is serving in the military and went to Iraq? He also has reached across the table and worked with Hillary Clinton on immigration reform and the gas tax holiday.
While John McCain currently feels that merit pay would be beneficial, I fully believe that he can be reasoned with unlike Senator Obama, who also believes in merit pay. Senator Obama rarely reaches across the table to listen to views that are not his own.
Hillary Clinton took a strong stand to abolish No Child Left Behind. She has only “suspended”, not ended her campaign, and with neither candidate having won the established number of pledged delegates, the super-delegates can change their minds all the way up until the day of the convention. I think that, if the NEA truly does not want a McCain presidency, the NEA owes it to Hillary Clinton to make sure that her platform is heard and to do their best to ensure that she is nominated for the presidency.
Sincerely,
TOPIC: “Worst person in the world”
#322 Hilmania,
Olbermann IS worst person in the world, now! Tisk, tisk, such a loss.
I know it’s wrong to judge, but I put Bill Richardson in the same category. Could be Obama tries to go for him as VP.
Still, I have to admit there IS one other person irks me more, it’s Arianna Huffington. Her website was so riddled with hate-filled posts about Hillary, it’s a shame someone didn’t save those to show how sexist she allowed the posters to be. At least now they’re railing against Dick Cheney, better than misplacing their anger against our Hillary.
Huffington Post is the worst, it will take me a long time to forget Ariana’s lack of leadership in promoting respect towards people like Hillary.
#111 Roxyincall – Just read your post, LOL, yeah isn’t Richardson something else? ;D But Obama may see him as a way to try & court the Hispanic vote.
Sorry, we PUMA’s are better at that!
#218 LetsGetItStarted -
Yeah I watched that too, they actually talked about the Hillraisers, too, & showed her website on TV. Said there hasn’t been much sign these big Hillary campaign contributers were going to donate to Obama any time soon.
Also said there was a buzz that Hillary supporters w/be showing up in Denver to demand a rollcall.
It’s midnight here so I guess all my fellow PUMA’s are catching up on their zzz’s… good little PUMA’s dreaming of victory for Hillary!
So I am here posting alone, where are the west coast PUMA’s?
RE: SF Chronicle -
#253 Beca4Hillary – that’s funny you saw Stein’s article in the SF Chronicle. I stumbled on it last weekend & sent him this email:
“Saw your article today, but what will you do about the bet with your mom if Hillary gets the nomination in Denver??”
Thought you might get a kick out of that (I’m sure he didn’t)!

Who knows, but after they read the PUMA fliers I sent them, some of these big spenders will come to our site, and soon be donating money to PUMA, & Denver?!
Sweet dreams, indeed!
pa dem #476
When did you receive the NEA flier? I know that O talked to NEA via phone while in St. Louis last Friday. I agree that NEA is going down a slippery slope by endorsing either candidate. Neither has a track record of being supportive of teachers or education. Ted Kennedy, O’s biggest supporter, was the sponsor of the NCLB bill. O has said that he will consider renegotiations on the bill, but I have a feeling that NCLB is going to be around a while longer until some of the congressmen are out of office (both Democrat and Republican). The problem is that the “political speak” is that “something is wrong with education.” Yet, education is doing better than any point in history. We educated “all” children, not just a few and we are better trained than we have been basing instruction on the newest brain research and access to technology. The problem is with the congress not funding education (at the state level as well), not with educators or the schools. The congress and those who have had control of the Dept. of education have tried to get rid of “public” education for over 20 yrs. I still think we need to clean congress out. I know I’m preaching to the choir here. I liked your letter and I think I will follow suit. Thanks.
Hi everyone i have been here for 5 hours and with all the links and trying to catch up this has been the first time i have been able to say hi or anything. There was so much to read
I have lots of cleaners and disinfectants to help with
Good Night (((PUMAS))) sweet dreams
Here is a thought or maybe a question.
There are some people who come here regularly and they always ask “does Hillary still have a chance?”
Why do you feel the need to ask that with almost every visit? Until she says “Thanks but no thanks” to the presidency , she has a chance.
Rest assured that if Hillary gives it up and walks away, it would make it to the top of this page. So how about those who need to ask this everytime they visit, read the top of this page and get informed before asking.
This is just my opinion, but it irritates the heck out of me to see that question here.

Murphy, what do you think about the two above posts? Think we can plan this?
Good morning Pumas!
I went to the Action Center and saw three lists of supers. I don’t know if anyone responded to my question before but I think it would be easier if we concentrated on our own states. We have people from all 50 states signed up and we could get the letters out much faster. For myself, I can’t do all of those letters and/or calls but I can handle my state. Do we have a talking point for the supers or is the form letter still at Lobby Delegates?
LobbyDelegates.com is keeping their website open because people are still using it although the status of the delegates has not been updated. However, I found all of the Florida Delegates and I will cross-check them against our Florida List. To be safe, I’ll probably fax all of them.
I am changing my first name!!!!! Anyway, I just wanted to share a little rant with you all… just to voice my opinion:
I just have to say that Obama has a hell of a hill to climb to become the next president of the US. He lies way too much and people are catching on. All of this “ranting” about saving souls, how white people are bad people, and so on and so forth will catch up to him, quickly.
Just because the man is an eloquent speaker does not make him qualified to be the leader of this nation. What does he say anyway? I can’t tell which side of his face he is talking from.
I ask friends of mine why they would vote for him, they have no idea why. That is so bazaar! You don’t know why you would want to vote for someone who has no qualifications to be president in these troubling times??? Don’t you think that is kind of important??? The behavior reminds me of cult followers, falling in line behind their beloved leader, waiting for him to speak with baited breath and then letting out a sigh of relief when he says something witty!!!
I think the Obamabots need to read up more on their new found savior. He is the devil in disguise and we will all be in a world of hurt if this person becomes the next leader of this country.
Let’s look at a couple of things….. like your civil liberties, say goodbye to them, he wants to listen to your phone calls (perv!!!!)…. How about the cast of characters he rolls with, Wright, Rezko, Phleger, Khalidi, etc. etc. etc…. everyone except him is a racist, even though he has made so many comments that leave me aghast, maybe because I am a typical white person… and what is all this talk about change???? Is it, as next president of the United States, I will change my mind as much as I want and if you call me on it, you’re a racist… if he asks me for change, I am all out, went to the store to use the coinstar…
Fact is, we know really nothing of this man. He is shady to say the least. I will not vote for him out of “white guilt” in which I have none. I will not vote for him because he is a democrat, I will not vote for him because he is a smooth talker, I will not vote for him.
This PUMA is sticking to her guns and religion…
Good Morning PUMA’s!
‘You know who’ was interviewed this morning on CBS where he was questioned about his current stance on Iraq as well as being questioned about claims of him continually flip flopping on issues: “Listen, I never have changed my views…..as President, I will…bla, bla, bla”
I don’t see any video yet for the interview on CBS’s web site, however, is was obvious that this was well choreographed. The link posted yesterday, of a closely related article is essentially the same as what he stated this morning:
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/07/08/politics/fromtheroad/entry4241016.shtml
Not that I am surprised by his repsonses.
Need to get to work. Have a great day!
Good Morning Pumas,
It’s another great day!
For those of you who still wonder why in the world anyone would support NoName, these two links are
just two of many. I learned about the Dumbing of America many years ago. I think it explains a lot of this behavior we’re seeing.

I forgot to ask:
Will anyone be reporting back on how the Hilliary and NoName Fundraiser for her debt, goes tonight?
I sure hope it gets paid off in full, or at least the portion that she didn’t put in herself. That might free her up from this guy. Although I doubt it.
From US News Political Bullentin;
Obama Dismisses Claim He Is Running To Center Sen. Barack Obama, who has faced accusations in recent days that he is making a run for the political center, yesterday “dismissed criticism that he is abandoning his principles to move toward the political center, saying he has been consistent in embracing moderate views on several issues, especially his belief that pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq must be done ‘carefully,’” the Washington Post reports this morning. The New York Times reports Obama said yesterday, “Look, let me talk about the broader issue, this whole notion that I am shifting to the center. The people who say this apparently haven’t been listening to me.” The New York Post adds, “Republicans unloaded on Obama for his comments, compiling a list of 17 examples where they said he had flip-flopped. ‘Everyone’s been listening and still nobody knows what Barack Obama truly believes,’ said John McCain’s spokesman Tucker Bounds.”
*********************************************
Obama Calls For Students To Learn Foreign Languages In a blog posting on the website of the Washington Times, Christina Bellantoni writes about “an under-covered moment” from Sen. Barack Obama’s townhall-style appearance in Georgia yesterday, in which he said that voters “should not be worried about making the United States an ‘English-only’ country. He said he agrees immigrants should learn English, but felt the concern should be more about global competitiveness. ‘Instead of worrying about whether immigrants can learn English, because they will learn English, you need to make sure your child can speak Spanish,’ he said. ‘We should have every child speaking more than one language.’”
*********************************************
Romney Says Obama Has Never “Run Anything” CNN’s The Situation Room interviewed Mitt Romney, a potential VP candidate, who said that in John McCain “you have an individual who understands what it takes to keep America safe. And our first responsibility is to keep America safe and to make sure that we are not only safe, but that we’re free and prosperous. And John McCain has the skill and the experience to do those things. You know, Barack Obama’s a charming, well-spoken person, but he’s never actually run anything. He’s never had the experience of leadership.”
#503 I was not aware it was for Hillary’s debt. I thought they were going out together for Obama as he has been begging for money which we are not giving him.
Also #165 & 496 I like the idea of doing another “clean sweep” of Hillarys debt on 7/15 although I thought the DNC threatened her that it had to be paid by July 11. All of the pro-Hillary websites need to be in on this once we get an idea what more is actually owed.
Support of FISA doesn’t that bring up the right to privacy? Wasn’t R v W predicated on that same issue? If he won’t stand up now why do you think he would if god forbid he was elected?
#504 So how many languages does the empty suite speak? Roger Federer speaks 4 or 5.

Jay Leno: “Well, the Democrats are now preparing for their convention in Denver, and they have hired the first-ever ‘Director of Greening.’ They say this will ensure that everything about their convention will be green, including nominating a candidate who has only been a senator for a couple years.”

Obama’s Hot Air
Excerpt: Like a sinking hot air balloonist, he is madly throwing out ballast and baggage to stay aloft in what is turning out to be a far more tightly contested race than he had bargained for.
Denver is a place to display party unity, and woe betide anyone who dares do otherwise. Mr. Obama is taking it for granted that a large proportion of Mrs. Clinton’s supporters will not back him in November. The fact that he has adopted the very position on Iraq with which he used to paint Mrs. Clinton as a reckless warrior will come as no surprise to them. They never believed for a moment that reciting the words “change” and “hope” and “yes we can” amounted to “new politics.” They are not disillusioned because they never had any illusions.
Many of those who have been with him since the start also are furious, as a visit to Mr. Obama’s own Web site shows. So far “more than 20,000″ Obama supporters, according to “Computerworld’s” calculation, have protested against his trimming on domestic phone tapping. For those young idealists, Mr. Obama is a fallen idol who has shown himself as a conniving politician in the old mold.

Good Morning PUMAS!
I had the pleasure of meeting Diane Montavoulos last night at the Japan TV gathering in Miami, Fl. It was so incredible to meet the woman whom, together with PUMA, has started this incredible movement.
I made some Miami Contacts and am ready to fight even harder for our voices to be heard.
Thank you Murphy & Diane. United we will persevere!

“Mr. Obama has faced a wave of complaints from his followers in recent weeks that he is tacking hard toward the political center and moving away from his liberal base now that he is in a general election campaign.”
On Fox News, they’re talking about Bill Clinton and his remark about POWS and memory problems, an obvious swipe at McCain. Don’t know why Clinton can’t keep his mouth shut on this, that was a no-no. His mis-statements during Hillary’s campaign hurt her. If he’s going to make these bizarre statements, let them be against BO.

That article was out early yesterday, I was the 5th person to comment on it. It is a great article and I hope BO’s balloon bursts sooner rather than later.
I was just reading this article about Bo’s family, including kids, doing a hollywood type interview. Very Interesting comments, you all might want to read them. A lot of negativity in them. But one person made an excellent point.

Here is one comment that made me smile:
“—He is slipping—-he used to a 1,000 hits on the web every time he was in the news— but look at it now– 42 hits –no one even cares–he is just not news anymore——”
Gave me a new meaning to shoe shine….get some new shoes!
In the news last night (CNN/Fox) I heard that 26,000 supporters of Baracko signed a petition asking him to revert to his original poition on Iraq. Trouble in the “windy” city!
Obama says kids won’t be doing any more interviews
WASHINGTON – Don’t expect to see more of Barack Obama’s young daughters on television any time soon.
The Democratic presidential candidate and his wife, Michelle, allowed the cable show “Access Hollywood” to interview their daughters, Malia and Sasha, as Malia celebrated her 10th birthday. The four-part interview began airing Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Obama said he had second thoughts after seeing how much attention the interview had received. The Obamas had been keeping Malia and 7-year-old Sasha out of the media spotlight.
“It was an exception, it was Malia’s birthday, we were in Montana, everybody was having a good time,” he told “Good Morning America” on ABC. “I think we got carried away a little bit. Generally what makes them so charming is the fact that they’re not spending a lot of time worrying about TV cameras or politics and we want to keep it that way.”
Asked if he regretted the interview, Obama said: “A little bit of pause, Michelle and I, particularly given the way it sort of went around the cable stations. I don’t think it’s healthy and it’s something that we’ll be avoiding in the future.”
In the “Access Hollywood” interview, Malia said she sometimes finds her father embarrassing, such as when he shook a friend’s hand instead of waving to her or saying hi. Asked what makes their parents angry, Sasha said whining and Malia cited arguing with each other.

lol , yeeah they got attention alright, negative attention. Is he that much of an idiot that he would think they would not get attention, good lord he really needs to mingle with real people every now and then and get out of his house to see what the everyday joe takes notice off. I don’t even watch tv and I know what’s happening in hollywood and who’s interviewing who.
As far as distributing the flyers, obviously, at least where I live, I won’t hand them out face to fuce but surreptitiously (sp?) put them on windshields or mailbox flag. Another though is to randomly pick out addresses in my phone book and mail them, with no return address, of course!
Sorry, face to face. Mispelling!

Progressives for Obama’ Fool Themselves
by BAR executive editor Glen Ford
Barack Obama’s rush to disavow the “tag” of the “Left” should surprise no one. The only people who pretend that Obama is a “progressive” are a few Leftists, and Right-wingers that hate Leftists. “But the most important reason that ‘Progressives for Obama’ should have never existed is its utter lack of content.” Progressives have been playing “make-believe” with the Obama campaign, dubbing it both “progressive” and a “movement” when there is no movement or progressive content to the campaign. Some progressives are guilty of providing “a veneer of progressive credibility to a candidate who was nothing of the kind.

Morning PUMAs,check out Heidi Li’s post about we bitter ones…
Bitter: The New Brave
Whatever the circumstances, the people who hold power use name-calling to undermine any resistance movement or its members. This political season those voters who support Senator Clinton have repeatedly been called bitter. Of course Senator Clinton’s supporters seem bitter in the literal sense of that word (harsh, unpleasant) to those who would like to hand Senator Obama the nomination on a platter. And naturally, Senator Clinton’s supporters do not seem at all bitter to me, as I find their views quite congenial.
But calling Clinton supporters bitter has never been about the literal meaning of that word. The word is used by Senator Obama’s supporters at least in part because of its sexist connotations (as in “bitter old woman”). Whether Senator Obama or his supporters use the word bitter as a deliberately sexist tactic is beside the point. In the context of describing Senator Clinton or her supporters, the word has the connotation regardless of the intention of the speaker.
Many Clinton supporters now use the word bitter to describe themselves, using a common strategy of resistance: those being attached adopt the word of their opponents and try to own it. Other examples include the adoption of the word “queer” by some lesbian/gay rights advocates or the now famous Tina Fey bit on SNL when she declared that bitches get things done.
To me though the word “bitter” will now forever have a personal meaning, a private connotation, if you will. When I hear bitter, I think brave. Brave because it is hard to speak truth to power, scary to attract nasty name-calling, risky to stick to your principles when friends, family, and co-workers (and sometimes bosses) pressure you to surrender them. It takes guts to stick to one’s commitment to Senator Clinton or to an authentically democratic Democratic National Convention. I am absolutely impressed that so many of the people I know displaying the necessary fortitude are people who are not protected by personal privilege or position. I am appalled at the lack of fortitude displayed by some who have these safeguards to fall back upon.
One thing is for sure: this political season it is the bitter who are brave.
Mornin’ Pumas,
I noticed alot of chat here yesterday about whether Hillary could still get the nomination. I have no inside info, but common sense tells me that barring a major scandal or serious misstep for BO, the SD’s will be too afraid to switch..(is that rioting in the streets I hear?)
They realize the party is split, and a change to Hillary only maintains that split.
BO, himself, would have to concede in order to give the SD’s cover. If poll numbers are abysmal next month for him, there may be some private arm-twisting for him to get out. My guess is his ego is too big.
Regardless, we will show the Party in Nov. how unacceptable this process has been.
Hillary now, or in 2012!
Good Morning All.

I’m not at liberty to say right now, but plans should be finalized after a certain teleconference tonight, and hopefully I will then be able to report a big new plan coming our way with it, which could garner even more media attention.
I was pleased to see those aerial ads placed, Murphy. Hope you got my e-mail last night about a potential volunteer for web development. If not, you’ve got mail!

Morning Folks,
New Post up!
Take it Upstairs!
Ok, I completed today’s action by sending the letter as requested. It gives me such a feeling of pleasure.
This year I will turn 65 and I just cannot, for the life of me, understand that kid Obama’s thinking, from Iran, Iraq, healthcare, the economy, jobs or anything else. Is he on LSD or just plain retarded, but thinks he’s on the cutting edge? So far, since he began campaigning, the only thing that’s ‘changed’ is we now have a complete idiot running for president.
Completed today’s Action Item
MountainSong, he is probably on a few things… and a huge “power trip” is among of them.
Oh, and logged in to report the letter has been sent here also.
I just sent out the Wed. request to the media (pumapac’s request that members email the media.
But i added this at the top:

2. Compel by coercion, threats, or crude means
3. Hit something or somebody as if with a sandbag

Anything for U.S., anything for Hillary.
First Denver in August, the D.C. in January!
Please help.
Knowing what I know now, I decided to begin distributing this letter to newspapers and other news outlets based in Europe in advance of his visit, in an effort to blunt European fixation with everything Obama so that I won’t have to remediate – again – after the fact. My first letter will go to Berlin, which city is already entertaining a lively debate as to whether to allow him to speak at the Brandenberg Gate.
Please critique so that I can get this out. Thank you.
*********************************************
Please, Berlin, if you allow Senator Obama to stage a performance at the historic Brandenburg Gate, be careful.
Here in the United States, as a ploy to defeat Senator Clinton in the race for the Presidential nomination of the Democratic Party, Senator Obama perfected a well-documented history of artificially inflating the number of his supporters. One way he accomplished this was to recruit audience members for his live performances (and then bamboozle the press into believing they all showed up just to see him). Here is just one example of the success of that subterfuge.
Evidently assuming he will be formally nominated at the Democratic Convention being held at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, in August, Senator Obama booked a football stadium next door to accept the nomination. Michael Falcone, writing for the New York Times, proposed this reason for the move: the Pepsi Center holds 12,000 people; the stadium holds 75,000. And a “sea of 75,000 people swarmed around” him during the primary, at a gathering in a park in Portland, Oregon, in May, making this “the largest crowd of his campaign.”
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/07/obama-picks-stadium-for-acceptance-speech/
Except that, the crowd at that park in Oregon in May was staged. During the final months of the primary, Senator Obama’s support as compared to Senator Clinton declined rapidly, earning her more than 500,000 more votes in these last few contests than her opponent. So, before his appearance in Oregon, a state his campaign identified as ‘must win,’ he shored up his numbers at that event by setting up an advance cross-promotional marketing effort with the Decemberists, a popular indie band based in Portland. Here is a link to the Decemberists’ web site, on which they announced they would be giving a free concert and asking their fans to contact the Obama campaign directly to RSVP, along with the link to the campaign’s web site.
http://www.decemberists.com/news.aspx
And here is a link to a music site advertising that the Decemberists would be appearing in the park, for free.
http://www.bandweblogs.com/blog/2008/05/17/the-decemberists-to-perform-at-rally-with-barack-obama-portland-oregon/
In other words, for safety planning, anticipate that there is no way you can predict how many people will show up to see the candidate in Berlin, only that his campaign will make sure those numbers meet their expectations.
Just sent my emails!
Thanks Marylandpuma.
