Sunday BBQ and Beer

Chillax, Puma PAC and head out to the deck for some ribs and cold beer. We have a BIG week ahead. Be ready to send letters, faxes, and phone calls; to make plans for Denver; and to learn about an AMAZING opportunity we are planning for Puma PAC. This is a friendly and chatty open thread, but feel free to continue discussions from downstairs. Still looking for NYC/NJ Pumas to email me at murphy@pumapac.org. Drop me a line with NYC in the subject line — this is NOT about Denver, but something else.

The good vibes are flowing, folks. Things are pulling together, we’ve stayed united and focused for more than 30 long, consecutive days! This is only the beginning, and it feels like the BEST is ahead of us!

The beer and ribs are free, but don’t forget to drop a few bucks in the Buses to Denver Fund to help defray the cost for Puma PAC members to get there!

I just e-mailed the Governor of MI and thanked her for standing for Hillary and for us. That took courage in light of the fact that she will now be hounded and threatened. Also contributed to the PUMA bus transportation. I am in FL, the disenfranchised state, and in the Treasure Coast of all places. We need a meet up group in this area. West Palm is really too far.

Murphy, I know how much time and effort you spend on this site and we all appreciate what you do in spite of also having a home life. I don’t know whether you can set up categories like they do at Clintondems.com. For instance, I posted about LaRouche and then everyone who wanted to comment on that did. It makes it easier so you don’t have to read hundreds of posts. I think someone may have mentioned this before, I’m not sure.

About all you can do with Obamobots is draw them out by asking questions like: “why do you feel that way,
what do you think of so and so” and then subtlely ask a few questions ( all the recent changes work well ) and leave them with something to think about. Hopefully they will reconsider their position and check into detox.

#9 Flowerchild2 The Treasure Coast, is that Port St. Lucie? I’m in Flagler County, between St. Augustine & Daytona Beach. Would love to meet someone of like mind in my area. I can’t talk about this to anyone of my friends, they won’t discuss it because they will just vote for the Party no matter that the empty suit is unqualified. Very frustrating.

Amen.

As I’ve said in past posts… I always like to start with the question. “Do you know how Senator Obama became Senator of Illinois?” If they bite and allow you to explain his beginning through corrupt means and stepping on the rights of others… what can they argue in his favor from that point forward? We have responses for a pattern of similar behavior ever since.

[[ I want to open a separate email acct dedicated to PUMA, election stuff, etc. I’m leaning towards using yahoo or gmail. ]]

Our son and wife use Yahoo and seem to be satisfied with it.

I use my telephone company as my DSL carrier, but then, since I have a few websites, I also use Microsoft Outlook express for setting up MANY Identities. Like what many companies do, like

sales@yourcompanyname.com
billing@yourcompanyname.com
support@yourcompanyname.com
etc

For those master minds running PUMA sites, also consider Mass Emailing programs. For example,

Dynamic Mail Communicator
http://www.dynamicmailcom.com/
It’s rather expensive though

As an alternate, consider Eudora Pro
http://www.eudora.com/

Think one can put in around 2,500 names in an email address book; and also create multiple Personalities. Will also accept long email lists. I have used Eudora for years and I highly recommend it. You just put in your email server provider info the same way you would Microsoft Express… and walla!

I was canvassing over the weekend (handing out fliers from the action center) and I was surprised how many people don’t realize that Hillary could still be nominated at the convention or realize how many undemocratic things were done to take the nomination from her. When I pointed these things out I got a lot of support. So, I think we should keep reminding people that Hillary can still be nominated at the convention; she would need about 175 superdelegates to vote for her who are either undecided or declared for Obama.

Also, we should point out the fact that Hillary won the popular vote by almost 200,000 votes and that MI and FL were only given half a vote and four elected delegates were taken from Hillary and given to Obama in MI AND THAT HIS CAMPAIGN INSISTED AT THE RULES COMMITTEE MEETING ON MAY 31 THAT MI & FL NOT HAVE FULL VOTING RIGHTS AT THE CONVENTION! These dirty tricks will remind everyone why we are so angry and can’t support Obama. And why we are encouraging superdelegates to nominate Hillary at the convention because the DNC rules purposely make it hard for her to win the nomination despite winning the popular vote!

Not worth the effort. Next time, may I suggest that you just state your case as intelligently and as convincingly as you can and then just walk away.

Oftentimes people will ponder what is said, hours or even days later.

The point is, you should get them THINKING? So asking questions is an important tool. If they don’t know advice them on the HOW TO of doing a web search.

LaRouche is having a wecast on Tuesday, July 22 from 1-4. You can listen in and ask questions and interact.

Also, there is a 24 page dossier on the website “Is George Soros your enemy?” They are distributing 200,000 copies nationwide. The Dem officials won’t have anything to do with him. He does not like Obama and thinks Hillary should be the nominee. I haven’t researched him but it’s worth a look.

#21 FEATHERSONWIND- it surprises me daily what people don’t know and what a piss poor job the media has done to inform people.
Of course, had they done their job, perhaps we would not be in this stupid war.
People don’t know who Alice Palmer is, they don’t know that Jr did not vote against the war, they don’t know that he voted for the Bush-Cheney energy bill.
It is so sad how uninformed people are and I believe that is why we are where we are today.
I read that article yesterday, about 46% of democrats not planning to vote for Barry. And then I see polls and he is doing well in the polls? WTF?? I keep hoping people are going to wake up before it is too late.
I also agree with an earlier post that said the Republicans aren’t really going to gear up for their attack until after the convention.
Well, I need to spend some time with my family now, although I am addicted to these sites.

Hey… I just thought of a great idea as a marketing tool. But it would have to be geared to the graphic designers.

Create a Question and Answer card deck.

Ques: What does change mean?
Ans 1: Moving the DNC from Washington to DC
Ans 2: Selling your SUV and turning down your therostate.
Ans 3: No lobbying… and that means YOU!

Ques: What is BHO’s stance on, ABC
Ans 1:
Ans 2:
Ans 3:

Like that… One question with 3 replies.

Don’t worry to much about the polls at this point. First, I think Obama machine is manipulating poll data through media to help secure his nomination. I think he’s afraid. Plus, keep in mind that he’s going down the same path in the polls that Kerry and other’s who lost the GE were showing at this point of the game. Thirdly, if the nomination is secured for Obama — you can bet your ass the Republicans will let loose on his negatives worse then they currently are. They don’t want to give it their best shot before the convention cause they don’t want to go up against Hillary. But you can count that they know what to do to chew him up and spit him out after the convention. They’ll probably depend on the publics short term memory and save the best guns for October, so the worst is fresh in their minds coming into election day.

#31 I like the cards. I also think an answer with “all of the above” would work and list all the answers that Obama has given to questions. Such as, “what is Obama’s stance on campaign financing?” Answers are his positions and then “all of the above.” And then there is the “What is change?” question with the answers, “His opinion”, “His mind,” etc.

Regarding Murphy’s contribution to McCain in 2000. There are many reasons why people chose to contribute and I think that regarding Murphy that subject has been overworked. I have contributed to Nader in 2000, 2004, and 2008. Obviously I don’t expect him to win the office but I believe he is raising issues with which I agree. Will I vote for him in November . . . at this point, I don’t know. I plan to wait to see who McCain chooses for VP before deciding. Our opinions are not stagnant but change with circumstances . . . not as much as Obama’s do though.

#40 Violet Hill on 07.06.08 at 5:30 pm

Below is a repost of what I wrote yesterday, with some corrections. In the post, I comment sarcastically on CNN’s Bill Schneider’s comments (and some of you posted good responses too), and I was thinking today that maybe writing CNN and Schneider and setting them straight about us might be a good thing since the media has such power to shape perceptions and outcomes in the elections. I have no idea what is the best address to contact CNN and Bill Schneider, though…

———————

In the CNN article (reported in Murphy’s blog yesterday) which states that 46% of Clinton supporters are not voting for BO, Bill Schneider says this:

“These things always take time to heal… I think Clinton’s supporters are waiting to see if Sen. Obama will pick her as vice president. That would certainly be very healing to them… If he doesn’t pick her, a later stage of grief is depression and then acceptance,” Schneider said. “In the end I expect Clinton supporters will accept Obama…”

Oh, OK… so if Hillary is picked to play second fiddle at the foot of Master Barookie, then the terrible grief and depression that we’re going through will just dissolve into “acceptance.” We’ll just resign ourselves to what the DNC and the party wants us to do and go out and vote for BO.

And how deeply insightful for CNN’s senior political analyst to imply that the reason we’re reluctant to vote for BO is because we’re currently overtaken by grief and depression! I wouldn’t doubt if his image of the “pouters” is of a bunch of depressed, helpless-feeling menopausal women! (could there be some sexism in there?).

I think that a lot of us NObama Clintonites (women and men of all ages), rather than being in grief-depression, are more in a place of *energized conviction*… It’s a “fighting spirit” that’s been evoked in us by seeing what happened during the primaries.

The poll is good news, given that it was taken a week after the BO/HC ‘Party Unity’ event in Unity, NH. It confirms that there are a lot of disgruntled Clintonites out there. Now our mission is to do all we can to spread the word about PUMA and the Just Say No Deal to energize the disgruntled Clintonites with the resources and support they’d get in our coalition and to prevent some of them from resigning to “the acceptance” of BO that Schneider expects.

Heres how the Chosen One will respond -example

Voter: “Senator O&@^@ what is your position on the war in Iraq?”

Senator O&@^@: “What is your position sir/sweetie?

Voter: says their response

Senator O&@^@: “That is what I have “always” been consistant on and is what I am going to do for you as your POTUS

NEXT Question

Voter: “Senator O&@^@ what is your position on Healthcare?”

Senator O&@^@: “What is your position sir/sweetie?

Voter: says their response

Senator O&@^@: “I have said that consistantly throughout my campaign and that is what I am going to do as your POTUS

Of course it always starts with various tones, pitches of the infamous – THANK YOU, thank you, Thank You, ” I Love You Too!, Thank YOU, THANK You and blah blah blah and blah :)

RE: TALKING WITH OBAMA SUPPORTERS

(Sorry, hit the wrong key and it entered before I could write)

For the most part, I don’t bother with these discussions. My feeling is this:

1. People tend to dig in with regard to their point of view.

2. They wouldn’t be able to convince me of supporting Obama, so why even think I’d have a chance of convincing them to support Clinton.

3. Psyhcological research shows that it’s very difficult for the human mind to actually make a change in thinking. Piaget was one person who talked about “assimilation” and “accommodation”. Basically, the idea is that when we are exposed to new information that challenges our perceptions/beliefs, we either find a way to incorporate it into our existing beliefs and remain steadfast in our view OR, in fewer cases, we actually take in the new info and shift our thinking. (I’ve probably butchered Piaget’s theory…It’s been a looooooong time since I was in college.)

4. I think we have the greatest possibility of bringing new people into the fold with folks who don’t have a strong view or opinion regarding the two Dem candidates at this point, though I doubt there are many out there who fit this description. I think that by now, we’re all pretty dug in. (Sorry, don’t mean to be depressing.) And, I think our most sympathetic audience are those Hillary supporters who are still out there who haven’t found this home yet (though I’ve encountered many who switched to Obama because they feel so strongly about the need to support a Democratic candidate, even if one they’re not thrilled with. I’ve found those folks pretty hopeless to talk with, as well.

Gotta put my time and energy to best use. But my hat’s off to anyone here to takes a deep breath and actually engages Obama people in discourse. Lots of luck!

#40 VIOLET HILL RE: CNN’S PERSPECTIVE THAT WE’LL ALL JUST COME AROUND EVENTUALLY AFTER LICKING OUR WOUNDS

I would encourage you and everyone to contact the media whenever they express this patronizing and misguided view. In the process, you may want to graciously invite them to speak with you if they would be interested in order for them to get a better sense of just what we’re thinking, how strong and clear we are regarding our views, and about how much they may be underestimating how deep these issues are among many of Hillary’s supporters. (I always end my letters by saying that I’d love to speak with them further about this very important issue if they would be so inclined. So far, no takers! I guess they’d rather just pontificate without actually speaking with any of us to get the real scoop.)

#48 Lin4Hill on 07.06.08 at 5:46 pm

Been visiting my daughter out of town who has a more powerful computer than I do. I asked her to let me go online and view the video from several days back, entitled “Hillary is the Devil.” My daughter has been teasing me about becoming a PUMA and blog-fanatic and has warned me not to believe everything I am reading online (roles reversed–don’t you think?). She has not been very supportive about my frustration with the DNC, thinking that the “alternative” would be okay with her.

Well…we viewed the video together. I was in tears and when I looked over at her, she was in tears as well and said to me, “I didn’t realize it had been that horrible, Mom.” I earned a little more credibility over the weekend, I think—
—————-
For all of you newcomers—welcome! And if you haven’t gone back to some earlier threads yet–do check that video out–it might solidify some resolve if you are unsure.
—————
Regarding posts from other days (it has taken me hours to glance through them): thanks to all those who have done some amazing research—I’ve learned so much from you!

I’m a teacher, and we are asked often to teach as if the child’s parent is sitting in the corner of the room watching how we treat our students. I also tell my students to behave as if their parents are sitting in the corner of the room watching them.

What we are undertaking here is historic. I am proud of my civil disobedience, if it’s characterized as that later by historians, and I want to be proud of my words.
Let’s speak our hearts and support each other and roll up our sleeves for the action ahead and behave as if our candidate is watching from a corner of the room.

In ref. to #4 – I agree with you but alot of it has to do with the fact that the MSM did a damn good job of getting the crappy stuff out there to ppl. Then there are the ppl without Internet, cable or etc to educate them.

But there are those hard core ppl like you said that will switch over entirely just because the Chosen One is Democrat.
That is unforturnate because they will I believe one they do not really know who the Chosen One is and two they are going to be the ones (all who vote the Chosen One) to “wake up” later (if God forbid) he is elected and say “Hey what the heck is this guy doing”. They will sadly be like the Bush supporters, and gradually or in this case quickly go down to low twentys of his true supporters. In the mean time we are going to be paying the price for this inexperienced, lack of judgement and character, selfish, arrogant, unpatriotic and much more “empty suit” .

But I will never give up on Hillary ever. I may have to wait or NOT (not August yet) but I will not ever give my vote to the Chosen One and I will be very careful on the others I vote for depending on how they participated in this bias, unfair, hostile, illegal campaign election process.

Not much in the news this weekend. O is trying to cover up his flip-flop and McCain is still trying to figure out his “big” issue and get his campaign together.

Everyone take note: Cultists are fiercly fraternal. They take personal offense to any and all things critical to their brethren. They attack en masse, and will often recruit Cultists for backup whenever they need to portray the appearance of popularity. One should expect a flood of Cultist rhetoric at that point.
Pay attention everyone. This type of Cultist is among the more reasonable types. They are able to understand right from wrong, and generally are well informed and honest. The issue with this type is they are radically naive. This cultist is arguing something like: A Nazi soldier was not necessarily anti-semetic, he may have been just really proud to be German and serve in the Army. While technically true, only the most naive among us would come to the same conclusion. (ignoring Nazi conscrpits)
This is a prime example of the Cultist mentality. He/she cannot grasp anything as fact (even the obvious) unless their leader says it to be true. A Cultist can look at this video and actually be offended by the obvious. This explains why a Cultist will fall for their leader praising the public financing system, and then saying it’s fundamentally broken within a 7 month period. They will do so passionately and with a straight face, because this is a cult.
Comment by obama cultist
First off, u don’t know Obama. You never been to Chicago–this is so clear due to ur ignorance on Obama’s history while working as an organizer for the Roseland Community. End of Story!
Further more, you should, 1st, tell us who u are and what have u contributed to society??? “nothing is my guess”. How can u make a serious statement when no one knows “jack” about u? what would come up if we googled u? a news article about u being busted smoking crack??? I wonder.

Now, look how this Cultist still cannot articulate a cogent argument; even after intial criticism. He/she assumes I’ve never been to Chicago based on NOTHING; for all they know I could be blogging FROM Chicago. And, then, of course, the required childish insult; in this case “smoking crack.” To a Cultist, opposition to Obama is, by definition, ignorance.

Maybe O’s running out of things to say and he uses, uh, to cover up?

#67 halligan on 07.06.08 at 6:04 pm

Hillary always started her statements with “Well, you know”. That gave her some time to think which is always a good technique when thinking on your feet. Anyone here in toastmasters? What did they say about using “uh” all the time?

#68 halligan on 07.06.08 at 6:06 pm

Electability Watch- the effort to get Hillary Clinton’s name off of the roll call in Denver is not fiction; it’s fact.
What you can do to prevent this grave injustice and insult to the democratic party is as follows:

All,
The ELECTABILITY WATCH is now contacting over 550 HRC or Uncommitted Super Delegates, some many times each, and a few dozen of BO’s. We are busy gathering additional lists to fill in the gaps, and if you would like to participate in the EW, we will gladly send you a group of 18 SDs in areas which need extra coverage. [Mary Ellen Courtney is working with me to compile the lists and improve the contact information we have for each SD. Please send me any updated information you have.]

Otherwise, please pick your own SDs (if you know some, have met them or contributed to their campaigns), and start the weekly cultivation process to remind them that their only responsibility is to choose the electable nominee in Denver, the person who can bring the Democrats back to the White House, and she is HRC. This is especailly important now as Obama morphs into Bush 3, polls show Obama not ‘sealing the deal’, and with every indication that the DNC and Obama want to shut down an open nomination process which will bring Hillary’s name to a vote.

Every day brings new word of a retreat, a two step to the right, another person under the bus, and more evidence of the false promise of new politics by the South Side of Chicago pol excellance…

I have just posted my Week 3 communication on Together4us.com, comments, ELECTABILITY – Week 3. Please feel free to use any of it in your communications to your list of SDs.

Want to see Hilllary nominated in Denver??? Do the EW!
GO GO GO!
Ricki

1. From the DENVERGROUP

HRC delegates – you have not been released – hold firm.

Ive been contacted by Clinton delegates and this is becoming more and more of an important issue so whatever network you have or means of bucking up her delegates and getting them to hold is becoming very important especially in light of our efforts at the Denver Group to have Clinton’s name in nominaton and a roll call vote that means something.

Im being told that some delegates are being strong armed to switch to Obama ( which the rules allow) so if you have a means of communicating with them or know that what youre sending out is reaching them, Id hit this point every chance you get to keep them together and let them know help is on the way with what we are doing to keep Clinton’s name on the ballot.

I will post more as information comes in……go go go

[[I doubt there are many out there who fit this description. I think that by now, we’re all pretty dug in. ]]

Most voters do not start paying attention to the General Election until 1-3 months before… with the bigger advertising push coming about 3 weeks before the November Election.

At that time, if you were to ask them, what do you think about the election, you would be surprised to hear: Who is running. Once you say, Obama and McCain… many will then ask, Who is Obama?

36 million voted in the Dem Primary
150 million in the General.

Figure it out… there are many folks who have not been paying attention and who do not know what’s been going on. I truly believe that once an evangelical of catholic hears about his alligence to Rev Wright the man will be toast. And that does not include others like Ayers and PFleger… etc. So it will be up to us to tell them the truth.

Teachers are a blessing, next to parents, teachers spend the most time with our children expanding their minds and witnessing their creativity. I believe that at least one teacher has touched us in our lives.

Has BO completely ruled out debating McCain? I mean if they do refine the earpiece BO wont even have to think for himself anymore, not that he ever really did.

The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug. Another thing that strikes me funny is how his ‘writers’ gave him all the right words when he was campaigning but now that he is the ‘presumtive’ nominee they have left him out to dry.

Establishing Facebook or Myspace page

#62 Kerri. I think it would be a great idea. I just saw a special by Fox, I think, that talked about college kids and communication on the election. I just caught this much… If you give them a flier, they just put it in their pocket and throw it out later. They may or may not read it but probably not. On the other hand, Facebook is like their life (my comment) and if they get something like a “rally for … at such and such place with the time….” It catches their attention and they generally will read it and remember it. Maybe not right then but it is in thetucked away in their memory. Maybe an entire Facebook campaign but at a college level. Not so much to try and sway votes at this point but to expand the info on PUMAS AND to get conversation started. This is my thought, maybe others have different ones. It might also help to keep them informed of PUMA activities and/or the activities of our sister sites.

Maybe ask Murphy to see what she thinks. I thnk the more exposure the better at all ages.

Good Luck!

Dear Sir,
It has come to my awareness that delegates such as yourself are being “asked” to turn over their vote to support Senator Obama. I strongly urge you to maintain your stand behind Sen. Clinton as she is the only electable candidate the democratic party has to offer this year.
As Obama’s policy becomes more clear his unelectablity does as well.

My husband said to me this morning: ” I know everything about what Hillary supporters are doing and I read everywhere that it is only the matter of time, because you will not vote for McCain in November. Everybody’s saying that. Don’t tell me about other people saying that they will vote for McCain. I know all about it. The news is right and you will all vote for Obama.” He was neutral during the primaries. (He is also not a citizen yet, so he can’t vote. ) Phew! [[ Everyone take note: Cultists are fiercly fraternal. ]]

I wouldn’t call BHO’s supporters cultists; but I would say they are brainwashed. I wrote something a few days ago here on the topic of hypnotism. But will briefly describe the reasons I think many at his rallies became brainwashed.

- The hypnotist talks directly to the *subconscious* mind.

- BHO asked everyone to bring their cell phones and call others to come and see.

- They were *not* paying attention to his speeches or his words on any CONSCIOUS level because their focus was on their telephone conversation.

- They could hear BHO speaking in the background.

- That background noise became the hypnotic suggestion(s) and moreso if any of his supporters traveled the country and attended more than one rally.

- Conclusion: They were being brain washed. And now they are brain-dead.

All, IMHO

An editorial in the Opinion Page of the Oregonian

Get ready to get angry fellow Pumas…

Has anyone seen the comments by Connie Schultz in the OPINION section of the Oregonian?
I have to calm down but it infuriates me that one woman would bash all other women. The subtitle is: “Working-Class Women and Obama” with the editorial called “Pivotal Voters Want Candidates Who Listens.” In trying to explain why older women favored Senator Clinton, these are the comments that made me go nuts:
” These are women who take care of their kids, their husbands and their parents and stretch household budgets for thin to translucent. But as soon as their breasts start to droop and their tummies poof out they go from sex objects to invisible. From their perspective, they’ve worked harder than anyone had the right to expect and now nobody has any use for them. But Hillary Clinton? Now there was a postmenopausal woman who refused to disappear.”

There’s more to the commentary but that was enough for me. she is trying to explain what *61 has to do to get our vote. some of her comments are okay but once she said this, she lost me all the way…By the way she is a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist. Well, I know now the type of people who win Pulitzer prizes…GRRR

You know, NYC is the center of the known world. All eyes watch here. HRC has many supporters here who would love to come out and help disseminate some much needed information. No one’s heard from any of the organizing people yet. :/ I DO understand how ‘young’ we are and how complex it is arranging for effective, legal and safe meet-ups, still we don’t want to let oportunities pass us by. The fund raising events will surely garner press…having PUMA there couldn’t be a bad thing.

#103 Goalucard4Hill on 07.06.08 at 7:04 pm

#99 Diva 2 – I had a big argument with basically the same results with Wayne Kinney – in Oregon – with the DNC and a solid BO supporter – he basically said that he did not care about my vote – and he did not care what others thought – Oregon went for Obama not Clinton was his reasoning for arguing – and said that Obama had won don’t I read the news – just by conversation with him – you KNEW who he was in support of -

When I was calling in the primary for Hillary – found some of the most argumentive supporters of BO there in Oregon – I think we need to have a blitz there – I had posted in the Oregonian several times and had very hateful responses to my post as well.

As Cosmeta once wisely said – you just give them information and hopefully they will think about it hours or days later and maybe make a difference in their thinking -

They are VERY liberal in Oregon. Both Portland and Washington are considered to favor *61 because they are among the “wealthy” that he alledgedly appeals to.
Nike and Boeing are in Portland area, Microsoft in Seattle. Two major colleges in Portland — both with kids attending that are among the “rich and famous” up here.

I am a California woman but moved up here about 4 years ago to be with my new hubby. Were living in Portland area, now living in Vancouver WA area. Don’t know if we can do much for these two states to change their minds.

Diva #2, Webfoot and all PUMAS: This needs a reply. See where Connie Schultz is at the bottom.

For a lot of these women, Obama is a challenge. They may be comfortable with his policy agenda, but he is one odd duck in their pond. Much of that has to do with age. Theirs, not his. Which means it’s really about race.
Sunday, July 06, 2008 CONNIE SCHULTZThe Oregonian
N ow that Hillary Clinton is out of the presidential race, the hand-wringing has begun about what will happen to all those working-class women who supported her.

First, let’s ask the right question. Which working-class women do we mean?

Those of us who come from these homes, these neighborhoods, have always known what pollsters are finding out: Blue-collar women are not a monolithic group. They proved this in the primary election and will likely demonstrate it again in November. Whether this is good news or bad for Barack Obama depends on whether he can convince a lot of older white women living paycheck to paycheck that he’s the guy who understands why they’re so scared — and is the one who can do something about it.

As with virtually every other demographic group except African Americans, who voted overwhelmingly for him, the support for Obama’s candidacy among white, working-class women fell along generational lines. Exit polls indicate that the majority of younger blue-collar voters were for him. Older white women went for Hillary, but that doesn’t mean they will automatically vote for the Democrat in the fall. They supported Hillary in large part because she did not push too hard against their comfort zone. She looked like them and, often, sounded like them, particularly when she talked about single mothers without health care and waitresses working two and three shifts just to get by.

They don’t feel respected, and so attacks against Clinton resonated with a lot of them. These are women who take care of their kids, their husbands and their parents and stretch household budgets from thin to translucent. But as soon as their breasts start to droop and their tummies poof out, they go from sex objects to invisible. From their perspective, they’ve worked harder than anybody had the right to expect, and now nobody has any use for them. But Hillary Clinton? Now, there was a postmenopausal woman who refused to disappear.

For a lot of these women, Obama is a challenge. They may be comfortable with his policy agenda, but he is one odd duck in their pond. Much of that has to do with age. Theirs, not his. Which means it’s really about race.

As one pollster who has made a career of studying working-class voters told me, “It really boils down to when you graduated from high school, whether you graduated before or after 1971. The question is: Did you go to an integrated high school? After 1971, the answer is likely yes, which is why so many young voters say, We’re not uptight about race. But here’s what you hear from older voters in focus groups all the time. They’ll say, I go back to my high school now and it’s all black. That usually means about a third are black, but these people went to high school when everybody was white. To them, everything has changed.”

Kitchen-table issues also loom large for these voters. “This is not some ‘Sex and the City’ group,” said another pollster who studies voting trends among women. “If you are a working-class woman, you are one paycheck or one Social Security check away from financial disaster. The government safety net is so important to you in a profoundly personal way.”

Women with families know that rising gas prices mean higher grocery bills, too, and when a third or more of their income already goes to feeding the family, that’s a whole new level of pain. The economic stress also is stoking other problems that were always there — particularly drug and alcohol addiction and domestic violence. Pollsters say those issues are coming up more often in focus groups with working-class women. More husbands are hitting the kids and beating their wives, and the way many of these husbands resolve their anger is to walk away — for good. And they take their paychecks with them.

“That’s not something you find out with exit polling,” one pollster said. “That’s what you find out when you put a group of women in a room and tell them you really want to hear what’s happening in their lives.”

For older white working-class women who are married, that talk often turns to the emasculation of the men they love. These are families who were raised with traditional notions of what it means to be a man, and we saw the impact of this upbringing all across Ohio in the 2006 race. Over and over, men who used to work in factories that are now closed spoke, often with choked voices, about how they had failed as husbands and as providers because of lost jobs and reduced wages. Bitterly, they described how their wives, and sometimes their grown children, had to get jobs so the family could survive.

When spoken to separately, the wives were just as emotional — not for themselves but for the men they loved. Women often dabbed their eyes and touched the shoulders of other wives who described the heartbreak of watching their husbands crumble. When it comes to jobs and trade, many of these women wouldn’t care if the next president was bright orange with purple hair if he could bring back the light in their husbands’ eyes.

What does Barack Obama have to say to working-class women? Plenty. But they’re used to being talked at, especially by men. The guy who proves he’s willing to listen, and then to offer real-life solutions to their all-too-real problems, is the guy who will get their votes.

My mother, who was an hourly wage earner until she died, always said to her daughters, “Don’t marry him until you see how he treats the waitress.”

She was talking about picking a husband, but it’s a good test for picking a president, too, and one likely to be used this year by working-class women of every age. 2008, The Nation

Sorry my energy is maxed for now so tomorrow would be easier for me and maybe will be more level-headed by then. THANK YOU!!

By the way, per the Oregonian, if you are not a middle-aged women with sagging boobs and postmenopausal, please leave this site as these are the only ones who were Senator Clinton supporters….breathe now, take deep breathes and then GROWL…

You know I found that women were always the ones who treated other women the worse in the corporate environment at least. It was a dreadful thing and I never understood it.

[[ Whatever happened to the suggestion that someone came up with that the superdelegates take a silent vote? I thought that was a terrific idea. ]]

Terrific or not, that is NOT how it is done.

First because the Convention is by tradition an open process and will be televised on C-Span and other major networds.

Secondly, because WE THE PEOPLE have a right to know how our representitives voted.

Thirdly, the party platform, of what shall be or not be is done by the presumed head of the party (BHO) and the DNC…. some of which is also done at the CREDENTIAL COMMITTEE MEETING which convenes the first day of the Convention…. unless BHO has changed that too!

And it is THAT meeting that is still up for grabs not only for setting the agenda going forward as to who speaks and at what order, bla bla… but the Michigan and Florida issue of 100% will be determined *then*.

WINE

Yes, this is true. We do NOT sell wine nor are we a licensed winery. It’s just for our own use and to give to others who are friends. We cannot mail wine (federal laws are pretty clear) about mailing wine. Licensed wineries can only mail to certain states. It’s all for fun. We have two vineyards, one is our own (very small) of Gewurtrzmeiner & Reisling and a two acre rented property that we care for and pay the owner a portion of the grape poundage of Pinot Gris that we harvest. It’s sort of like growing vegetables and giving them away to family and friends. If you were close like Diva2, I could give you a bottle.

I’m trying to remember the Sharrod Brown story, her husband. I vaguely remember something about it. Yes, I can agree with her comments about the husbands that lost their jobs and the how women felt and reacted. Being in timber country and surround by timber mills in the 90s was no fun. Oregon and Washington were so demoralized by the closing of Federal Forests. That was the Clinton era, so its no wonder that Oregon and Washington don’t want a Clinton around. At the same time, the environmental family in Oregon and Washington were happy to see the forests closed. The rest of the country doesn’t remember this because we have the “green” in more than one way. Rural logging towns pratically disappeared and others turned to tourism and small cottage industries such as furniture making, etc. The demographics of these two states lean heavily to O for the same reasons you so aptly gave and these others.

Quote attributed to Rendell found at the: race2008.com
website

“Rendell, who plans to campaign on Obama’s behalf and raise money for him, said tonight’s event in Philadelphia is a joint fundraiser for Obama and the cash-strapped Democratic National Committee.

But in a sign of the urgency to raise campaign cash, Rendell said Obama didn’t want to reschedule tonight’s fundraiser, even though the governor warned him that many Philadelphia donors were headed to the New Jersey shore for the weekend. Rendell said Obama told him: “We don’t need the people. We just need the checks.” “

SD SILENT VOTE:

Good idea, but may lead to the same problem that the RBC had when they went into closed door session. No one likes closed door sessions. In fact, our port commissioners just got sued over a closed door session that really quite innocent (believe it or not). The RBC was really pushed people over the edge when they did the decision making in a secret session. It’s just not the best policy to follow. Executive sessions which the law covers clearly have to do with employee contracts and bargining, plus personnel issues in most public policy making bodies. How that applies to the DNC and delegates, I’m not sure. But they are elected and I would think would beholden to “the open meetings law.”

#175 Roxy in cali on 07.06.08 at 8:26 pm

Hello Pumas,

Just stopping by for a moment to say hi and to share an Idea I’m working on:

I’m putting together a flyer that I’m going to title “The fact sheet” or “The Real Barack Obama”. (I haven’t decided yet.) It will be 100% fact based in English and in Spanish. It will have dates, voting record data, it will document flip flops, character flaws such as lack of judgment, will address dishonesty, etc. When I have it more structured I will be needing your input to make sure it is as accurate as possible.

The main reason I decided this needs to be done is that I realize many people’s only source of info is the biased media. Many don’t have a computer, the skills or time to do research on their own.

I think it needs to be no more than one page (wich will be hard to do with all we know about Barry.) Also, I think it’s important to emphazise the issues: The economy, gas prices, healthcare, education, the war, etc. and how NOBAMA IS NOT the answer to any of our problems because of his lack of experience, track record, lack of integrity, flip flops, etc. etc.

I plan on distributing this flyer along with the PUMA PAC one. My main purpose is to challenge people to think before they cast their votes just based on what the biased media says. I find that not ALL people that say they will vote for *61 are BObots. Many individuals I have engaged in conversations with about politics have just been deceived and actually believe what the dreamy unicorn says. Some people REALLY don’t know the thruth about *61.

I think we have a lot of work to do in our comunities to fight the misinformation. We need to wake up some people from their sleep and time is running out!

Thank you for all your hard work you are doing on this flier. I find it all the time when I get into discussion with ppl mostly Hillary supporters that do not even know the common probs with the Chosen One. So I look forward to it and would take advantage of its availibility to hand out for the ground troops.

May I make one suggestion – I have found that in the seniors that I hand out to (and my mom/dad) take them places with them to give to ppl it needs to be good size print and simple language for them to understand it (and maybe some others too).
Also you said it maybe lengthly – I have found myself that a trifold size but put together in the middle (stapled) kinda like a booklet but when folded not bigger than a trifold size…..if that makes sense, that way you can have either an entire page or both focus on one subject,,,,,flip flops, voting record, state rep record, senate records, issues, etc……… Just a thought

hi pumas keep up the good fight we are making a difference but we have to stick together and try and discuss with others why we think 61 is sooo dangerous and i sincerely hope many of the folks who plan to stay home realize that doing so is as good as a vote for him , i really think mcain can be trusted to be a honorable president ( if we cant get hillary in) and that the dnc cannot be rewarded for this totally undemocratic appointment of their rock star over the woman who is clearly the best of all three canidates
p.s. oh and by the way i am one of the many men who support hillary and im tired of the media saying its just angry women who are against obama the media totally lies and deceives the country and i just cant stand it any more i wish we could start boycotting sponsors of these biased news programs until they start vetting this creep for real trhen he wont stand a chance

I posted this down stairs by mistake. Always trying to catch up on the posts. Always good ones too.

Evening all. Another productive day at work. I have some one who is reluctantly supporting “o” coming over here to look around. :)
As to the “o” supporters (hard core ones) I talked to, seems they are pushing the line that Barry’s flip flops aren’t flip flops at all. It’s the republicans who are trying to make them seem like flip flops.
Could this get anymore bizarre?
And I have begun to notice a bit of desperation from “o”s people.
Amazing considering the convention hasn’t even taken place.
Oh and as to Michelles makeover. I read down stairs somewhere about her being in Vouge, going on “The View” and something about baking cookies?
If all thats true her makeover is:
1 Go concern yourself about fashion
2 Go sit around with other women in the morning and chat over coffee
3 Get back in the kitchen.
Glad theres no sexism over there.

PUMAs ALERT!!!

Please sigh this petition. Send it to as many people as you can.

Murphy, can you please make the link to this petition as a separate thread? Like with the notes to send to Coward Dean?

It’s a petition to fire Coward Dean.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/65/petition-for-howard-dean-to-resign-as-dnc-chair

Maybe we can also start a petition or send notes like you did before telling Dean how we want to have election process changed; i.e. no supedelegates, will of the people determines the winner, etc. Maybe we could also send those notes to Brazile, and the rest of the gang. What do you think?

These YouTube videos appear to be phone calls to Hillary Clinton delegates by BHO supporters trying to mislead them into switching their vote over to BHO by telling them outright lies. For example, that they are listed as an Obama delegates. This is your govenment in action folks. It is also how Obama is in the lead. I’ve said it before and I will say it again. This man BHO is a corrupt politician and one who engages in dirty politics Chicago style. Welcome to the New World of CHANGE.

Hey guys,

I think I just made somebody else REALLY ANGRY. I was in touch with this guy for since March, but I didn’t get the response which I was hoping to get.

Here’s the text of the email.

I took out his email for privacy purposes.

I think Senator Clinton made it clear who she supports. I am confounded why anyone who supported her would not listen to her when it comes to probably our most important presidential election ever.

Hello,

Happy 4th of July! I wanted to ask you for advice. I probably said many stupid things before–my question is: do you think I could get a job and do a good job on another campaign? Right now I am considering one of the campaigns for the California State Assembly or State Senate. I am looking at both Democratic and Republican candidates. I am also volunteering for Sen. McCain right now.

Is it okay for me to work on Republican campaign this season, and then try and work for a Democrat down the road? Do you think I could work in marketing department? Please get back to me and let me know what you think.

Thank you so much for all of your help,

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO GO IN THE WATER -

I was prowling around the internet, posting, and I noticed how Obamabot traffic is really down. And I has so much wanted to argue. Then, I got back to my email and saw one of the postings flagged and removed. I filed my complaint, notified Murphy and reposted. Since it seems to be only the really good posts that they flag, I though I would share it with you. As follows:

Titled: Don’t Give Up, Americans! (Your Country)

Americans,

Don’t Give Up!

Many dispute the anti-Democratic suspension of the Hillary Clinton Campaign and are still fighting to see her as the Democratic Nominee. It is an insult to the American Public that the Democratic Party believes they can use their Multi Level Marketing techniques to sell Americans a corrupt, unqualified candidate that will allow them to exploit America for whatever the Bush Administration has not already plundered.

Find Out: Coalition online at JustSayNoDeal.com

Get Involved: Democrats – Take back your Party!

Take Action: Speak Up (Post, Blog, Talk to you neighbors)

Take Action: Contact your Democratic Representatives and let them know you want to see the Democratic Superdelegates in your state elect Hillary Clinton as the Democratic Nominee at the DNC Convention August 25, 2008.

http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml

Take Action: Donate $20.08 (or as you can) to the Hillary Clinton Campaign for President 2008

https://contribute.hillarycampaign2008.com/form.html?sc=3200

I AM NOT OVER IT YET.

I was not over “it” when George W. Bush was “elected” in 2000.
I was not over “it” when George W. Bush was “elected” in 2004.
I was not over “it” when Barack H. Obama was selected June 2008.

I will never get over the love of my Country.
I will never stop asserting the founding principals of the United States of America.

I will not surrender my Country to fraud and exploitation.
I will not lapse into denial for a false sense of security.
I will not follow corruption under the guise of unity.

I do not need to bear arms to fight for my Country.
I do not need to make you believe me.

I will be seeing and saying and doing.
I will be thinking and talking and living.

And that which is right and is good will empower us as deceit and deception are revealed.

I would suggest we start a written petition, for reasons stated in this article.

We could create several duplicates and have different PUMAs get signatures. Those who live in heavy-Clinton states can probably get a lot, even from a small state like WV. Then we could have those PUMAs send the petitions in once they reach a certain point.

They tell people not to worry about the people who will not drink the kool aide, they tell everyone we are so minuscule- so no one out there watching the news is worrying about us- as we continue to grow, growl and fight. Come November they are all jolted awake from their cozy dream, Hillary is elected and they say “Wow- I didn’t see that coming”.

Hello everyone!
Hope you had a great weekend.

I just received a call from Jan Kaplan. He is a supporter calling for the BO campaign. Mr. Kaplan wanted me to support BO since I was an attendee at the recent BO picnic. Pumas what is so hilarious about the whole thing is that I was not allowed in the event along with hundreds of others, and I have contacted the local paper to have research done as to why this happened. Mr. Kaplan expressed his deepest regrets that I was unable to attend and blamed it all on the secret service.

I told him I would never support BO and that I will remain a firm Hillary supporter. I also let him know that I am a proud PUMA and that I will never follow BO into the darkness. I guess they got my number from the Hillary roles since I purposely did not put it on the roster when I picked up my Golden Picnic tickets.

As an update it seems that an individual on the No Quarter blog has called the BO campaign and asked why we were locked out of the picnic. The response was that the metal detectors had gone down and it was supposed to be only for 15 minutes. Once they were up and running again we were to be let in. I cannot believe this since we were told they were done for the day allowing anyone into the event.

I wonder if I tripped the pod people’s radar since I have never been called or e-mailed by the BO campaign. WOOT!! I feel special now!!

Hillary/McCain 08

#234 Lorelai on 07.06.08 at 10:00 pm

Diva2 and Webfoot, etc. Connie Schultz is actually an impressive columnist and author who is married to Sherrod Brown , Super Delegate, (our Senator from Ohio), who until, June 5, was uncommitted and then went for Obama. (my letter to him in April apparently had no impact).
Connie had admitted in some Plain Dealer articles that she was for Hillary as I recall. (But I can’t be sure about that as I write this but I’m almost positive). She, herself, comes from a blue collar background with a “lunch bucket father” and writes eloquently and fervently about the values she received from growing up in such a household.
I had the opportunity to see her on a book tour in Columbus for “And his lovely wife”, which had quite a feminist bent, as she was always introduced as “his lovely wife”….after being a Pulitzer Prize winning writer herself and much acclaimed in her own right.
She was so authentic, and genuine in person ….those passages really disappoint me. Compartmentalizing Clinton supporters is a dangerous road to go down, but I fear, that is what is happening…..Anyway, just some background for you all. Lorelai

As far as an actual signed petition, could a common letter be suggested, then find volunteers to rent a P.O. Box, one in every state, and coordinate a date for mass delivery, with funds donated for postage? Of course, all groups aligned with PUMA would be urged to participate. It’s a huge undertaking, but it’s certainly been done before.

Barack Obama Will Pray at the Pump!
Guest post by Linfar

Barack Obama announced today that in honor of the weekend July 4 celebration of America’s revolt “against taxation without representation” he will join the Pray at the Pump Movement.

The PAPM, founded by Rocky Twyman, a member of the Seventh Day Adventists, has been holding prayer vigils at Exxon and Shell stations across the country. Smiling and obviously excited Obama told an impromptu presser:

I was a community organizer and I know what this involves. This is one man making a difference. It is faith based and it is spiritual. It is a man of God doing God’s work. Who can be against God?

Obama refused to disclose which gas station he will turn up at in the next few days. His press corps immediately launched into a flurry of speculation. So far Pray at the Pumpers have hit Exxon and Shell stations. But Wednesday they turned their prayers on the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington D.C.

Obama announced in response to a question about the Embassy pray-in.

“No. No. No. I don’t think praying at the Saudi Embassy, is a good idea The Saudis understand our concerns well enough. We don’t need to seem to attack them directly. Besides they are Muslims. They could care less about a bunch of Jesus freaks.

He then told one of the women in the press throng:

I don’t understand your question, sweetie, No one said Jesus freaks. You misheard me. Easy to do out here in the wind. I am a devout man of faith. I take my religion and my preacher seriously. That would be contrary to everything I believe.

On the issue of his beliefs, another reporter questioned the presumed Democratic nominee about his stand on Iraq. Obama has been reported as saying recently that based on his upcoming visit there, his view of when the troops might come home, could be adjusted. He explained:

One simply cannot know in advance what sort of expedient position the President will be required to take. But I am sure all of my supporters and the American people can rest easy in the knowledge that I have no qualms changing my position to suit whatever situation arises.

Obama then blew the woman reporter a kiss and turned away from the impromptu presser. As he stepped into the waiting limousine and the reporters melted away, one bystander was seen picking a paper off the ground. It was headed:

Senator Obama’s Impromptus Remarks on Pray at the Pumpers. Staff note: Remember, this should appear to be spontaneous.

Twyman, who prompted the first national campaign aimed at getting African Americans to become bone marrow donors, who still did not know of Obama’s support, was reported later as saying:

I think we have just entered a new phase. We were in the prayerful phase, but now we’re going into a more activist phase, because we feel that whole faith without works is dead.

John Neurohr from the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank, has a different approach to managing the high gas prices.

There is little, if anything, the average person can do to reduce gas prices generally. What they can do is reduce their personal dependence on gasoline by carpooling and utilizing public transportation.

Obama rejected the riding the bus idea. Not prayerful and faith-based enough. He wants to win evangelicals to his side, and praying at the pump is by far the best publicity op.

This is the current post over at TaylorMarsh.com As I was reading this I kept saying…this can’t be real. He really isn’t this obnoxious…then I became more aware of catch words like “prayer” “religion” “Gas Tax Holiday” (that he was against) and like he was making more cracks about the middle class. Scroll down to the disclaimer………

***Disclaimer. Senator Obama has held no such press conference and his views on Pray at the Pump are unknown at this time. However, while I support him because he is the Democratic Party nominee, I need to vent a wee bit at his March to the Right.

I just don’t believe that the rest of the world will think that isnt arrogance at it’s finest. He is high on himself and needs a reality check at the convention. I am sorry i can’t be there but will be donating to the cause.

Evening Pumas! I just came across what I believe is an important & time-sensitive post by Heidi Li Feldman about the current Obama/Clinton camps negotitations. She ends the post with this:
“Despite the lack of more concrete information about these negotiations – which could be covering issues such as when and if Senator Clinton will speak at the convention, what the final status of Michigan and Florida will be, and much more – the situation requires urgent action in by those who seek an authentically democratic convention – which, in my opinion, includes putting Senator Clinton’s name into nomination so that any convention roll call vote is not only authentically democratic, but is also truly representative of all the Democrats who voted during the primary season and gave us all the closest result in modern Democratic party primaries. Negotiations do not occur in a vacuum. Now is the time to let both camps know that rank and file Democrats want a substantive convention rather than a showy coronation. That matter will not be decided at the Convention itself; it is being decided as I write and you read this post.”

I want to know why Hillary’s name would NOT be on the first ballot, or roll call (whatever) She never ended her campaign, she suspended it. If 18 million people voted for her, and that was 1/2 of all that voted, doesn’t that tell us, even though,BO got the delegates, that the people in this country want to see her name on the ballot. What the F#$& is wrong with the DNC, besides allienating 18 million voters?

upstairs=new thread started ( when you go to the top of the page you will see it under the current thread)

downstairs= current or past thread. For instance, if Murphy said to take it upstairs, a new discussion has been created. If she said “posted downstairs” it would mean older thread/post. Hope this helps.

McCain has limited money and Obama is digging a hole every time he opens his mouth, McCain is doing pretty well for someone who isnt campaigning too much! And, maybe he’s waiting to see who the niminee will be. The pacs and McCain will begin in earnest in September (read this part somewhere…NYT, maybe).

#286 N.Lee I went to your link and read Steven Yabarra’s article, then sent him an e-mail. The man has some valid points to make and is as frustrated as we are. I think his ugly “whining”, remarks may be due to frustration and anger with nowhere to go. It has made me think…how much have WE reached out to the Hispanic population?? He is correct in that an estimated 11 million Mexican Americans have been kicked to the curb along with the rest of us.
How many of our affiliates are Hispanic? That is a very large group of Americans with the same issues we have.
At any rate I told Steven that we as individuals can only do what we feel is the best and wished him luck on his own choices. I felt more like reaching out than kicking him in the teeth.

He is taking notes. Seriously. In my opinion, he is allowing BarackBurnout. Many are asking the same question, 007girl. I have. Then I started thinking about it. There is a long time between August and November. If many are sold out or talked out or pennied out by Barack beginning of September, John McCain will be listened to…seriously. I have the feeling that the Republicans have something on Obama but want to wait for him to get the nomination before they use it. Hillary after all would be a formidable candidate for McCain so they don’t want to knock BO out YET. Meanwhile BO keeps acting arrogant and losing votes on his own. I think starting with the Democrats convention in Denver that the Republicans will start mischief if nothing else being supportive of the anti BO demonstrators to make the DNC look ineffective. And the DNC is in a bad spot because people are used to force being used on young angry male demonstrators but I am guessing 75% of the demonstrators will be female and many not so young and society does not take kindly to watching women physically pushed around. That is why I think the DNC will force protesters into heat exhaustion to shut them up and keep themselves looking innocent.

#327 TEXASSHERRY RE: SUPERDELEGATE LETTER OVERLOAD

I think you raise an excellent point. I’ve considered this, as well. If we bombard SD’s with letters they might just get turned off. In addition, since there’s not way to really control the tone of these letters, it’s probably safe to assume that some are written in such a way that might be unnecessarily confrontational, alientating, etc. I think your point is very worthy of consideration by Murphy and others. At the very least, I think it’s crucial that when we do write letters that we are professional, articulate and state our case without a lot of histrionics. In general, people don’t like to be around angry people. And, like it or not, though we’re all very angry, and justifiably so, we need to make sure we direct our anger appropriately. I think similar rules apply to press releases and the like. It’s important to remember that when you’re trying to ensure that someone listens to what you have to say and to maximize the chances that they will actually take you seriously and consider your points, that you pay very careful attention to how and what you say so that your goal is achieved.

And how before you figure out what to do with all of these miniature images your sweet baby, who has grown 6 inches and gained 40 pounds and is about to graduate from high school, bears absolutely no resemblance to those photos, anyway? Well, this year, I figured out what to do with some of my son’s surplus photos. I stick them in my letters of protest to the SD’s. Not because he’s a Hillary supporter like his mother, which he is; but because he’s black. It’s my ‘in your face’ of saying, ‘Don’t even think about playing the race card on me!’

Wow, this article *almost* seems anti-Obama…except if you know a bit about psychology, they put the pro-Obama people’s views *last* and talk about how they are “more analytic” and use words to imply the anti-Obama sentiment as being pure emotional reaction. Why? Because according to psychology, people remember the first thing they read and the last thing they read, and very rarely what is in the middle.

Hmm, I just skipped over to AmTrack. A round trip fare from Spfld MA to Denver is $179 … Cheap, and trains have dinning cars, and you can get up and walk around. The down side is it takes to full days and the price is for coach, not a berth. Still better than a bus. It also means if you are no where near where the buses are leaving from you could still arrive in Denver at a central meeting place I.E. the Denver train station.

#327 texassherry SD LETTERS

Your concern about overloading the superdelegates with letters is one reason I’ve changed the tone of my letters. I usually begin with words of praise or positive points.

For example, I might start a letter praising superdelegates for their contributions to our country and thanking them for the difficult job they’ve done. Then I can transition into my feelings about Hillary or Obama.

I’ve also “gotten over” the issues they don’t want to hear about anymore. I no longer write about the sexism, the disenfranchisement, etc. It’s done. They’ve proven they don’t care. So I don’t even bother.

Seldom do I write about other issues they don’t seem to care about. No one cares about Obama’s birth certificate. No one cares how he conducted himself in early political races.

Instead, I try to focus on current issues. My big one is emphasizing that Obama’s refusal to debate McCain is a direct contradiction of his repeated claim that he “welcomes that debate with John McCain.” It proves to me that he’s not a man of his word. It also proves to me that he’s not someone who will work across the aisle. (I don’t need to look at Obama’s voting record to make this assessment. It’s obvious in his recent words and current actions.)

This morning I sent Obama an email (which I posted on the previous thread) telling him that while I admire his commitment to bring our troops home and his planned trip to Iraq, his refusal to make a joint trip with McCain is more proof that he’s not willing to work with Republicans and that he doesn’t believe in transparency in government. (If he goes without McCain, he’s free to mischaracterize things that are said in the meeting with military commanders on the ground.)

If you begin your letters with a positive tone, superdelegates should be more inclined to read them and give due consideration to your talking points.

Feel free to contact me directly at firebellepuma@gmail.com if I can be of assistance.

Pay at the Poll is right. He’s trying to buy this entire election. I’m just glad the DNC is in such dire financial straights. It’s like a monkey on his back.

Disclaimer: No racism was intended by using the term monkey to describe the DNC on Obama’s back. :D

Hey, Hotsky, there are plenty of pissed men like me. I sent my max allowed to Hillary’s campaign, attended the “One night only with Elton John” at Radio City Music Hall. I have also sent PUMA $100. I want Hillary for our next President!! I leave comments at CNN everyday trying to get people to wake up and see what a con artist that guy is. The DNC really screwed the american people and I will NEVER send them another dime as long as I live. So don’t worry there are a hell of a lot of men pissed too!! I am sure the media will try to make it look like it is a crowd of cranky feminists causing all the trouble. I tell you, if I was a woman I would be doubly pissed at Howard Dean and his cronies at the DNC. If they lost the female vote, they would be in deep doo doo.

Will Bower just posted this message to the Just Say No Deal coalition. Passing it along:

Hello, fellow PUMAs!

Last week, many of you reached into your pockets and generously gave what you could
to help pay down Hillary’s campaign debt.

However, the main contribution link at HillaryClinton.com had been redirected
towards a different account. Instead of going to pay off her debt, it directed
contributions towards her 2012 Senatorial campaign.

If you have any doubt as to where your contribution went, you must contact the
financial department at HillaryClinton.com and let them know where you had intended
it to go!

For them to be legally able to redirect your donation *back* into her debt fund, you
must make your intentions *clear* to them.

Here are four ways you can contact them, to let your intentions be known. Again,
this is only for if you are in doubt. If you are confident that your money went to
pay off her debt, then you need not pursue this.

If you *are* in doubt, please contact (any or all) of the following, and encourage
your PUMA contributing friends to do the same:

Finance@HillaryClinton.com
JMantz@HillaryClinton.com (Jonathan Mantz)
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/help/contact

If Puma PAC members have questions, I *wish* I could answer them, but lacking any inside information, I’m afraid I can’t.

However there are always very resourceful Pumas on the thread who are usually able to answer questions, so feel free to post them.

#399 Goalucard4Hill on 07.06.08 at 11:59 pm

#356 Firebelle Rodham Puma – what you have said about the superdelegates thanking them for all their efforts and going with that direction is completely right on – I have had 17 responses back from the superdelegates that I have written and all but two were very good – and they were all not original Clinton supporters either.

Sometimes I feel that we are going backwards instead of forward – we have spent weeks on this subject and decided what we should do – and then we have new people here that turn it all around after hours and hours and hours spent doing what the original thinking agreed we would do – and that is a good thing that we have group discussions as that is the only way we can grow with ideas other than our own ……. but ……

Usually or really never do I post anything on here that would be controversial – as I have seen the results of that – however – we can talk a subject to death without taking any action and the convention will be here and gone – I think the point made that nice is better than ugly to get attention – however – we all sure gave attention from the ugly ones that we have encountered.

My two cents worth and thats all that it is worth – I know for a fact that there is action going on behind the scenes with the superdelgates – there are a few that have confided directly with me – and I am not at liberty to divulge my sources or their comments – their point was to continue – do not give up – if they do not want to hear from you they will delete their email addys, after several emails back and forth with the supers – I have asked them just that question as I was concerned too that we would hound them to death like Donna and Howard – 15 of the 17 said NO – continue -

4th of July PUMA humor

I heard the blog was getting dull, so I thought you might want to know the candidates views on how fireworks finales should be executed:

McCain :
“I honor the tradition of ending fireworks with 50 reports (one for each state) followed by a pause, then the last report for the District of Columbia.”

Obama:
“I ahhh think ahhh that we should have 57, no 58 reports (one for each state) followed by a pause, and then the last report for the District of Columbia.”

Kerry:
“The company that does our fireworks display in Boston is thinking of moving the last report for the District of Columbia so that it precedes the reports for the 50 states. If they do this, the DNC will likely support my decision to limit them to 1/2 of a report for the District of Columbia.”

Conclusion:
Leading economists in the U.S. say that with the rising costs of fireworks, the Obama plan will force many towns to suspend their fireworks displays due to the high costs of adding the additional states.

The McCain plan is by far the superior plan, both economically and traditionally.

The Kerry initiative will be difficult to assess until the DNC fireworks rules committee has a chance to meet to assess the cost of custom explosive devices and to decide if they will “select” to penalize the District of Columbia by taking away half of their report in the grand finale.

We know rendell and bayh are extremely strong Hillary supporters, as is the guy from GA and the one from NY. If we can get a large percentage to stick together it can tip the whole thing.

#439 nhforhillary on 07.07.08 at 12:16 am

Murphy and Texas sherry – Thanks

I have to tell you about this. I talked to a young girl working at a state park today. She said that she is not stupid and that alot of kids her age can see through Olord. Anyways she was upset by the way that Hillary was treated. She wanted more info and I referred her here. I also gave her all sorts of info on what happened and Obama info and where I got my sources. She said that Obama scares her and that she hopes more of her age group, would think like her. She’s afraid that she’ll work hard in the future and won’t get anywhere because of Obama. She is thinking of her future.

#399 Goalucard4Hill SD LETTERS

Thank you for your post.

Interestingly enough, the one person who *loves* negative letters is Donna Brazile. She *always* answers me if she can respond with “Stop the hate.” But if I write something nice to her, she ignores me. :-(

I teased Donna one time when she answered one of my emails and complained about the flood of negative letters and emails she gets from Hillary supporters. I said that her complaint reminded me of my experience as a basketball referee.

It used to bother me when fans booed the refs, because I always tried my best to do a good job. When I complained to a senior referee about this, he told me that when fans buy their tickets, part of the price of admission is the right to boo the refs.

So I told Donna that when fans (voters) buy their tickets (register to vote), part of the price of admission is the right to boo the refs (express our displeasure with politicians). I suggested that she might just want to enjoy the process.

Donna never answered that one. :-(

#320 Pardon me hotsky, but I am male. I didn’t think it mattered. I have however, under a different name, identified myself as male when blogging.
Rest assured hotsky, there are more men out here than you think. In fact of the seven people I have been able to convince to at least come look over here four are male.
Most of the men I know are voting McCain anyway and even the republicans I know think HRC got shafted.
The men in this country are far more knowledgeble and far less sexist than the dnc would like to think. After all, the dnc is banking on sexism to put “o” in the whitehouse. Believe me, we all know that they would never have tried the stunts they did to a male candidate.
The dnc is going to be in for one hell of a shock come November. The democratic party has always had a gender gap problem with men and destroying Hillary is not the way to close it.
She deserved to be treated fairly. Even the most sexist men I know are disgusted by the way Hillary was treated.
The hypocrisy of the DNC ,who have always portrayed repubs as sexist, is going to cause a backlash that will echo through the political landscape for years to come.
And not just with women.
Men who have opposed women candidates have been subjected to years of being called sexist for no other reason than the fact they opposed a candidate who happens to be a woman, just as PUMAS are being called racists for opposing “o”.
We have sen real and effective sexism used to destroy HRC.

Hi ya’ll, I only read the first few comments. I can’t debate with Obots. I TRIED for many months. I simply cannot do it without losing my patience. It’s a shame actually. lol. I just can’t talk to these people anymore. I gave up.

Oh, can someone pass on the message to Murphy to make her Action Center more prominent on this website? It really is very important and it’s a link that should be showcased. There are probably a lot of people who come on here that just lurk but feel like they’d like to be a part of the cause.

So, please make the Action Center Link prominent…not light gray on the sidebar as a small link.

Anyone agree?

Here’s my Puma Action Center page: http://investigatebarackobama.wordpress.com/puma/

Thats a good idea, NH is gonna be close. My uncle voted for Hillary in the primary, but doesn’t like BO, so he’ll probably vote McCain. I’ll be in MA for a week or two in late July, so I’ll probably visit my uncle. McCain is very popular in NH, and BO isn’t really spending that much there. Nashua and Manchester are the real swing areas, so thats probably the best place to start.

#466 tadgher99 on 07.07.08 at 12:26 am

Thanks for the welcomes! I actually have been visiting your site for a long time but never registered until recently (duh!). I followed the primary very closely like all of you I’m sure and was just appalled at the treatment of Hillary and the process in general. When it looked as if the DNC finally got their way, I immediately googled for anti-Nobama/DNC sites and came across yours and felt like “I’m in!”. I just posted the following at the Greta site:
he DNC is a criminal organization in my opinion. What they did during this primary, taking delegates from one candidate and giving them to another is reprehensible. Turning voters into “half-votes” is outrageous. Trying to force Hillary out from early on in the campaign so they could select their man is down right undemocratic. This primary has left deep scars that will never heal. I am very disillusioned about the political process in this country as I foolishly thought these kind of things only happened in third world countrys. I have been forced out of my own party that I have supported for years both financially and by my votes by my conscience. It was horrifying to see democracy crumble over the primary season. I will now vote for McCain even though he is not my perfect candidate, at least he will not run a banana republic.

Matt are you still out there?

#468 turndownobama on 07.07.08 at 12:27 am

About snail mailing to SDs. Dunno for sure, but I’ve heard that mail sent to Congress or Senate has to go through a lot of security checks in case of anthrax powder or something like that in the envelope.

So if you’re writing, SDs who are Congress Critters, better make it postcards not envelopes. Dunno if that applies to writing their home offices.

ANyway post cards are good so everyone along the way can see what it says: all the delivery people, secretaries, etc.

I sent Murphy an e-mail today with a lot of ideas, including the one you noted. I hope the site will be changed soon so that newcomers can get a better handle on who we are and so that it’s easy to find important stuff like taking action, or even before that, the need to register.

We must put “country before party” when any branch in our government chooses their will over the will of the American people. We are fighting for the right of all Americans to be heard. We must preserve this fundamental freedom for our children. It is a cause that is greater than our selves. Shall we risk the peril of losing our voices, to have our freedoms disappear like a silent thief in the night? Will the DNC actions affect all Americans? YES! The DNC is going to override the voices of the people and tell you who one of your choices for president will be in the general election. Is this right? NO. Every American should be concerned, and angry. We have one “selected” presumptive nominee (NOBAMA) and one “elected” nominee (McCain). How soon will it be before ALL the candidates are “selected” for us?

Oh, one more quick comment about the web site and our discussions. I think it’s best to avoid jargon. Jargon is like an “in club” and is alienating to anyone not “in the know”. That said, as a newcomer to this site, reading “taking it upstairs, downstairs, etc” was like, “Huh?” I think I know what it means now (is it about blogs above or below the one you’re in?), but it’s an example of making someone feel like they’re not part of the club. Will e-mail Murphy about it, too, so she can consider removing it from the PUMA lexicon.

We need to vote in Ed O’Reilly, send e-mails to Bill O’Reilly on foxnews and say that his family tree was researched and this is his long lost cousin. He needs to support him and interview him on T.V. So he can tell the “truth” about Kerry.

Help him get elected in Mass.

#511 Goalucard4Hill on 07.07.08 at 12:43 am

Now that I am on a roll tonight – or not – and we are talking about negative vs positive emails and letters – if the end result is that you accomplish something by being nice – that makes it all the worthwhile – for instance – good ole’ Donna – rather than continue to harass her if that is still being done – remember they gave BO 4 superdelegates which only count 1/2 each – so we lost 2 – but Donna said on CNN that if that would shut us up about Michigan then she would give her vote to Hillary – I think we all should take her up on that one – what a coup to have her vote against him – bottom line only 1 vote lost and we beat her in her own game….that is the way I think when I try to get something done – best way around it and what is the bottom line result. I promise to go to bed and not spout off anymore tonight – Good night all Pumas – keep your thoughts going and never give in. We will reform the Democratic party whether they like it or not.

For me it’s about doing what is right. You don’t value winning at all costs that you (voter) ends up losing more than you gain. The DNC did all voters in America an injustice. Our freedom of choice – wiped out!!!

My pleasure! I take every opportunity to sound off at any site I come across. I feel very strongly about the whole debacle (my family are somewhat amused by my rantings) I am recruiting a few of my sisters to come vote with me in Nov. I got them to vote for Hillary in the NY primary (they are not interested in politics) My brothers are lost causes but at least they will never vote for Obama, they are McCain folk.

Oh and by the way, I AM a man!! LOL :-)

#549 InuHanyou1701 on 07.07.08 at 12:55 am

By the way PUMAs,
If I may get off topic for a moment. I do have a MySpace account. http://www.myspace.com/inuyashasboy but you need my last name or email address to add me (Murphy you know my email. :P ) so if you want to add me just send me a message VIA MySpace and I’ll add you that way. (Or you’re welcome to email Murphy and ask her what my email address is. :P ). I do not have Facebook as I had a hard time really getting into it.

As for the topic earlier about the 8 SD’s to which I sort of responded to. I REALLY hope this trend continues and am confident that it was caused by the report of 42% of registered Democrats wanting to see Hillary as the nominee. That percentage blew my MIND! PUMAs it isn’t too late for the Democratic Party (Call me optimistic from time to time :P ) so keep up all the great work you’re all doing in writing and emailing SD’s and the DNC and I will continue with you as well of course. You all ROCK!

DWP #523 — Actually I think it’s a great topic. My sense is that more women than men have been OUTRAGED by what happened this primary season, but that just about as many men as women will NOT vote for Obama. They may not be blogging — may not have been radicalized by what happened. But they’re the silent masses in the Dem Party right now. They won’t be coming around or falling in line either. I mean holy smokes, MILLIONS of men voted for Hillary.

Does anybody remember Donna Brazile saying on CNN that the “Democratice? party does not need white blue collar workers? That she said was the “new” Democratic party. I was hopping mad! Also, that they would say in the media that Hillary should reject the “racist” votes! Like everybody who voted for Hillary was racist. Trying to shame us into voting for “o”. Very sickening. That is going to haunt her big time.

#630 nhforhillary on 07.07.08 at 1:15 am

Do we have a flyer in the works that lists information about Nobama that can be passed out with our posters.
That is what I want. Something we can pass out that people can take home that will raise questions about Obama. It might be the only information a voter get before they vote. Alot of people aren’t following the campgains yet, and some vote based on word of mouth.

Do we have a Don’t vote Obama flyer?

Do we have a This is what happened in the primaries flyer? Most people don’t have a clue what happened.

I think these are both a must.

#630 DONT VOTE FOR OBAMA

I resnt being told who I should or shouldnt vote for… I’d rather be give the facts and decide for myself. I think a “don’t vote for obama” flyer could alienate people.
Even a Why I’m Not Voting for Obama flyer would be better suited. Me thinks

#514 goanderson Here. I repeated personal info about antifish that she had mentioned one night. I had no right to do that, and I have kept quiet since then. I still feel ashamed of my stupidity. I realized that our words are read by so many people. For the time being I plan on doing the daily actions and keeping up with the posts. I am proud of being a Puma and like being a foot soldier. Please, please, this is not meant as anything other than my wanting to do the daily growls before all else, and some days I haven’t done them, but did blogging. Doing the Action is what is important to me. All you Puma bloggers are the best.

If we all stick together, all the anti-obama sites and Hillary voters, we could lick this guy. We have to! I just hope everybody stays strong and sticks together to beat him. There are a lot of sites out there, it is very encouraging!

Maybe an email discussion would be best.
marylandpuma can give you my email.

It takes too much time to explain everything about flip flop Obama and to explain what happened in the DNC primaries. Most people are not informed. If we put this information on both sides of a flyer – double sided or on the back of that wonderful poster of Obama…I think it will make a difference. Add our business cards and PUMA info…but give them a reason to be curious.

Interesting as TM seeks new work. Wonder if this is her strategy?

The truth is that come November Obama will get the vast majority of Dems. People come home come election time. It may be like the Mondale, Dukakis era, where many Dems hold their nose, but hold them they will.

as time goes by, less Hill supporters are supporting Obama…her supporters have dropped from 60% to 54% in one month…and Obama has just begun unraveling and pandering…

what incentive do Hill supporters have to vote for this guy when he doesn’t even stand for anything and has no track record or experience…having a D after his name is not enough…

…heck, give him time…if it worked for him he would probably change parties…

…the man cannot be trusted…and for the Obama supporters…get used to it…he is going to break your heart…

…amazing, a guy who has been in the state senate…chicago, no less…and because he had big rallys, a big smile, and the DNC shoving him down the throats of the Democratic base…we are now stuck with him…

…some dems will go home…some will stay home…some will move on…just not buying this brand of Democratic politics…

repost from someone earlier but definitely worth the read…

One person questioned what BHO’s stand on Iraq will be after his visit. He speculated it would be quite similar to John McCains. I just want a flyer with bullet items and maybe internet sites to visit that show some of the issues that Obama has contradicted himself on. Other issues like his record,
votes that show poor judgement. I would not tell anyone who to vote for. Just give them enough information to become informed. Give them cause for reflection. But I believe it should be targeted at our goal of Nobama…just anyone else…vote for your dog.

I have an idea for a flyer for november if the DNC doesn’t get their act together and do the right thing in Denver.

Was thinking of graveyard crosses in a field like you see on the Flanders Field ads, but instead of them being unmarked, they have Hillary’s name on them and it’s crossed out, above the flyer or below, are the words “18 million Unknown Voters”

This is from HillaryClinton.com:

Your contribution is not tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes. An individual may contribute a maximum of $2,300 per election (the 2012 primary and general are separate elections). By submitting your contribution, you agree that the first $2,300 of your contribution is designated for the primary, and any additional amount up to $2,300 is designated for the general election. Corporations and individuals are strictly prohibited from reimbursing another person for making a contribution to Friends of Hillary. To comply with Federal law, we must use best efforts to obtain, maintain, and submit the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in an election cycle.

All contributions up to $2,300 paid to HRC on her website go to pay down the debt.

josgirl, this is the email from Will Bower:

Last week, many of you reached into your pockets and generously gave what you could to help pay down Hillary’s campaign debt.

However, the main contribution link at HillaryClinton.com had been redirected towards a different account. Instead of going to pay off her debt, it directed contributions towards her 2012 Senatorial campaign.

If you have any doubt as to where your contribution went, you must contact the financial department at HillaryClinton.com and let them know where you had intended it to go!

For them to be legally able to redirect your donation *back* into her debt fund, you must make your intentions *clear* to them.

Here are four ways you can contact them, to let your intentions be known. Again, this is only for if you are in doubt. If you are confident that your money went to pay off her debt, then you need not pursue this.

bIf you *are* in doubt, please contact (any or all) of the following, and encourage your PUMA contributing friends to do the same:

Finance@HillaryClinton.com

JMantz@HillaryClinton.com (Jonathan Mantz)

TOPIC: 3rd Party Spokespeople (again)

JOE and VALERIE WILSON (“Plamegate”)

Here is their contact info. and here is the note I sent them tonite:

Joe and Valerie Wilson Legal Support Trust
contact page:
http://www.wilsonsupport.org/index.php?option=com_contact&Itemid=3

phone: 202-408-5565

Hello Joe and Valerie,
There are numerous blog sites supporting Hillary Clinton’s candidacy. With Denver just around the corner, these sites and their memberships are growing at a phenomenal rate.

Sites include http://blog.pumapac.org/ , http://www.18millionvoices.blogspot.com/ ,
http://justsaynodeal.com/ and dozens of others others.

As a lifelong Democrat, precinct worker and voter, I watched with dismay as the wheels of justice turned so slowly for Valerie Plame. For many women, especially, it was a disheartening process to witness and rest assured, many of us are still rooting for you.

However, the main purpose of this message is to inform you that in the minds of millions of her supporters, Hillary Clinton’s candidacy is alive and well. We just do not see Obama as being qualified, experienced, or capable of being the kind of leader our country really needs right now.

We need an organized strategy for withdrawl from Iraq, a strategic plan for both the nation’s energy needs and its economy, someone with a strong understanding of foreign affairs, and a strong universal health care plan, just for starters. Things only Hillary Clinton can really deliver.

In spite of the tight race between McCain and Obama, the mainstream media seems unwilling to recognize the plight of the candidate or the Democratic Party.

So, our eyes turn to you and to other prominent American citizens who have supported Hillary Clinton in the past.

We plan to be at Denver – and finally, our presence and our voices will not go unnoticed by mainstream media.

Won’t you consider joining us in becoming more vocal, once again, in your support of Hillary, and also make plans to come to Denver?

Thank you for your consideration in helping our groups help Hillary to be our next President.

Anyway, who cares, it’s such a good idea for me to go to event sites and leaf cars, etc…I’ll do it.

Probably if a cop bothered me, they would be voting for McCain ANYWAY, lol.

I’d be careful of stickers though…
It’s akin to politicians who post a million signs all over the freeways and roads, and on fences, and theyre still up months after the election. Litter, a blight, an ey sore, aesthetically unpleasing (especially for those of us who didn’t vote for them).

Hi, I used to be Witchy 1, but yesterday I got rid of my google toolbar and had to rejoin the pac and Blog. Unfortunitely, WordPress would not allow me to use Witchy 1 as a user name again, so I had to change to WitchyWA. When I tried to register, I managed to mispell my email address, so had to rejoin and re-register again, and had to create a new email address to register. So it’s still me, Witchy 1, but I can’t use the name anymore, WordPress won’t allow it. Had I known the trouble it would cause me, I would have kept the toolbar, unfortunately it had info stored I didn’t want available since I lost my Wallet and BankCard(my number was stored there and since Google has used my info to have me classed as a troll, I didn’t want anyone to have access to my card number. I hope that clears everything up, I am not a troll, but a ClintonDemocrat who wants to see her be president this year.

#xxx kat in your hat…sorry I got thrown off, anyways.

The Boston Globe did an article on Obamas “Grim beginnings in the Chicago senate….he got hundreds of millions into the hands of developers like Rezko to build government housing projects all across Chicago. Then these private developers found that they couldn’t manage them with the funds that the government seems to be able to manage on fine. The end result is that they are rat infest, sewage backedup, uninhabitable dwellings that the government had to take back. Obama helped make the slums of Chicago what they are today.
Crime ridden and he “hoodwinked” his own state. It would turn an Obots head around until it twisted off!

#776 turndownobama on 07.07.08 at 2:05 am

kat in your hat

let us know when its ready, I’d like to read it.
Make sure the “grim beginnings” is in it from June 27th Boston Globe…it would be an eye opener to Obots and his fellow African American supporters.

If that’s the Alice Palmer story, there’s a long account of it with good quotes here:

Absolutely! Although I could get on quite well without some of the feedback I’ve received in my lifetime, but, I get your point.

Honestly, when I’m surprised by positive feedback, I hear it more as a reflection of whomever is giving it. I think you have to have the qualities within yourself in order to recognize the same in others. It’s much easy to absorb negative feedback, for some unknown to me, reason.

So I feel that I’ve learned something about you this evening/ We’ll call it generousity of spirit.

I know she received 4 less because they were given to O, but the uncommitted went to him as well, so according to the rules, he should not have received those either. SPLITTING MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA BABIES; UNFYING THE PARTY
PLUS: Wexler for Veep!

“I should say first off I don’t have a dog in the hunt. I support neither Obama nor Clinton in this nomination race and couldn’t tell you now whether I’d vote for either of them next November. I’ve stated long ago that both of those candidates have plenty of supporters, so I’ll be supporting the voters this year, since they don’t have nearly enough support.”

“With that said, this morning’s meeting in the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee (RBC) has been an interesting one to watch. All sides in the unfortunate matters of fighting over how to seat (or not) the delegations from Florida and Michigan at this year’s national convention have argued smartly for their various cases.”

Wish I could be there for your BBQ&Beer. Sound like mucho fun. I live in France (4 a little while longer) I’m a caterer here. And guess what? I cater AMERICAN food. Yep! They love it! Well, I cater to Brits actually, who found American food is more palatable than French food. I have repeat clients every year. They hired me over French Chefs. How’s that for AMERICA 4 EVER.
Well blogging is the only thing I can do from here. but my God I get my posts deleted.all the time. I gave up, until carla send me yours. I love pumas they’re fighsty. They don’t go down without a good fight. Keep up the good work PUMAS I’m with you.

In reply to someone who said.” Mc Cain has to earn my vote” I say
Ask not what your vote can do for you rather ask what your vote can do for your country.
Ask me not who i am voting for, but rather ask me what I am voting for.
Senator McCain has proven himself throughout his life.
Election campaign is and as it should be “Showtime”
But if you are still back stage in make up and rehersal, Mc Cain had several standing ovations. Can you feel it.

Obama wants a bigger stage to fit his head in it.

Dear PUMA

After reading Novak’s snide little piece in the Washington Post, I have a far better alternative than throwing vast amounts of your money away on Obama.

You can send it to me and other Politically Shaffted-Americans instead.

I have yet to benefit from one single entitlement in my long life while the Obamas have yet to have done anything other than accumulate an accretion of them.
Of which he thinks the presidency is his by right as the top cherry on the sundae.

I promise to evenly split whatever you send with someone else who can’t keep up in this economically-depressed area who needs it, too.

Look at it this way. You’ll be doing two people at once some actual real good instead of throwing your money away by helping a hologram self-promote his ego and do some possible future damage to your country.

And it is a way to positively register how turned-off you must be by all this by doing something good.

If you really do need a title you can consider yourself a Constructive Pragmatist.

As for how I intend to vote, I am writing in Hillary Clinton and have been advising everyone else to do so too rather than voting for McCain.
It is really a shock to me to find out how few people know that is possible.
