Notes from the DLC: Obama Disses the Centrists
Posted by TOM BEVAN | E-Mail This | Permalink | Email Author
As many of you know, the DLC held it's Annual Conversation in Chicago
on Sunday and Monday. Though no one would say it publicly, there was
a fairly significant sense of disappointment that Barack Obama did
not attend the event - especially after news broke Monday morning
that Obama spent all day Sunday in Chicago getting his haircut and
playing hoops.

Understandably, the DLCers felt insulted that Obama couldn't find 10
minutes to swing by and at least say hello to the roughly 600 elected
officials from around the country who were gathered, ironically
enough, less than a block or so from Obama headquarters.

One of the excuses I heard was that the organization is too closely
tied to the Clintons. But isn't one of Obama's primary objectives
over the next few months to win over Clinton voters? A tiny show of
respect to the DLC would seem like a good place to start, but
apparently the Obama high command didn't feel it was necessary.

The move to publicly eschew meeting with the DLC is especially
interesting since Obama seems to be more or less running his campaign
from their playbook, tacking to the right on the death penalty, guns,
and picking spots in the heartland to aggressively court evangelicals
and profess his love of country. It does seem to be, to quote the
great Yogi Berra, deja vu all over again.

I'll have more notes from the DLC later.

I read somewhere, today, that Larry Sinclair has hired a lawyer, and not just a lawyer, but the Attorney General of Deleware. Is that correct?

#463 gostrumcat, rodham--I love saying that.

I totally agree with you. I am still hoping that more will come out about him and the media will finally let him have it.

One of the delegates said that if HBO wins, then he'll move to another country. THAT is a great start for us. :) :) :) I AM VERY EXCITED TO HEAR THAT. :)

The Nameless One needs large forums just like Hitler did in 1938 in Berlin - Scares the S$$t out of me! I can't help but think that he would bring on another 9/11, or worse!

I hope and pray that I'm wrong - I just don't trust him! He needs to be stopped! The price is too high!

GROWL POWER!
