Murphy, check your e-mail.

Murphy, I was reading this morning at “the Denver Group” and they were saying they wanted to make bracelets for the pumas, justsaynodeal. the link is below. This woman is a graphic designer and said she thinks it should be two interlocking bracelets pink and black. As far as the pumas go, I really think pink and black are not good colors. Pink is for breast cancer. Black symbolizes death and mourning. I think purple is still the best. Any thoughts Puma’s? anyway here is the link:

Good Morning

Started off day by sending letter to HOUND . . . noted that acronym seemed appropriate since in my opinion Obama is a dog.
For anyone else who wants to have fun with these people: http://www.padems.com/form/hound

DEAR HILLARY SUPPORTERS
Hundreds of people wrote me in response to my OP-ED in the Baltimore Sun. I wrote them sent this letter to each and every one of them. Lynette
First I want to thank each and every one of you for writing to me. I want to apologize for sending a group email, but I got hundreds of letters. I want you to know you are not alone. There are millions of women who feel as you do, that the Democratic National Primary Campaign uncovered the pervasive and insidious sexism that runs rampant through our country. That Hillary Clinton is the most qualified candidate, and that she is being cheated out of the nomination by the good old boys network, the DNC and the Mainstream Media. You are angry. You are in a rage. I am too.
Underneath that rage is sadness, sadness that we are second class citizens in a country where we are the majority. What’s especially disquieting to me is that many young women are blind to the sexist nature of the world in which we live. It’s our job, each and every one of us, to educate them. Economically, women earn seventy-seven cents on the dollar for the same work compared to men. Women are in significantly fewer managerial positions, are less likely to own a business and more likely to live in poverty. Politically, women comprise fifty-two percent of the population and an even larger share of the voting public yet only sixteen of the current one hundred Untied States Senators are women. Similarly, only sixteen percent of the current members of the House of Representatives are women. There is only one female Supreme Court Justice on a nine member court and most remarkably America has never had a female president or presidential nominee. Women did not get the right to vote in the United States until 1920. The glass ceiling is real on both economical and political fronts. Men want parity for their daughters and granddaughters but not for the women sitting beside them. They are not going to give us the power that should be ours, we have to take it. Are we ready?
Women have no sense of their own power. White women are the largest race/gender voting block in the country. White men compose the second largest voting block, black women the third largest block, and black men are the smallest race/gender block. White and black women together women comprise more than fifty percent of the electorate and if were fully committed to a single candidate, we could determine the outcome of any office in the country. It is our turn. Are we ready?
I am sad that black women do not support Hillary in greater numbers. Many members of the black community wrote to me and said they were afraid to stand up for Hillary. They explained how black radio is pressuring it’s listeners to vote for Barack Obama. White men and women alike wrote me and told me that they were called racist for supporting Hillary Clinton. I want to remind each and everyone of you that, in 1969, Shirley Chisholm the first black woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives said, “Of my two handicaps, being female put more obstacles in my path than being black.” The impact of the “handicaps” of race and gender has not changed in the last 40 years. As women we need to come together, and take the power that could be ours. Racism and sexism are both terrible barriers, but one is not worse than the other. On average, a black man with a college degree earns more than a white woman with the same degree, and a black woman earns less than both. Black male physicians earn more than white women physicians, and black male professors earn more than white female professors. Yet ninety percent of black women voted for Barack Obama indifferent to the impact of gender on their struggle or how electing a female president might help them.
I want to change the world. I think we can. I think by electing female leaders we can create a gentler America. We need to be counted. We need to stand up and let the DNC know we will not get in line. As one woman who wrote me so eloquently put it, the DNC thinks we will vote for Obama because like abused women we have no where else to go.
I, Lynette Long, am a registered Democrat, but I will not vote for Barack Obama. I am not sure if I will stay home, vote for John McCain, or write in Hillary Clinton. I want the DNC to count my vote as a protest vote. I want them to know I am tired of being a second class citizen in my own country. This isn’t about Barack Obama or John McCain. This isn’t about Iraq or Iran. This is about a war, a war for our voice, our dignity, and our selves. I am doing this for my daughter, her unborn children and her children’s children. I am doing this for each and every one of you. I am doing this because I love my country. I hope you will join me.
Lynette Long

Time to go watch Stephanopoulis.

Why not Organize all these fringe PUMA groups and become ONE. My mother is an upset Republican..I gave her this website. I am union electrician who is tired of the Democratic party leaders and their petty weaknesses with the constant capitulation to G.W. Bush.. But also for forcing Barack Obama onto us. He lost here in PA by 10% after he won all those February “Caucuses”.

Why not make a new party out of what was done to Hillary Clinton. Myself I would like to a Labor Party or something that helps working class-TAX paying Americans. Build a grass roots working class party by the people and for the people. These two party’s FAIL everyday.

Don’t worry though the Obama camp and their BS rhetoric does not fly with me either. He is a politician and as dirty and as corrupt as they get. I will vote McCain or not vote, Period. As for being a union man, our VOICES are only heard as ONE. P.U.M.A.’s Unite. I would suggest all of these websites and bloggers combine AS ONE….
my two cents..

What happened to the black and gold idea that Maryland PUMA had for the bracelets? I liked that one.

#10 prplvette85 on 06.29.08 at 9:07 am

that would be nice too.

#11 DWPforHILL on 06.29.08 at 9:11 am

To Murphy or whomever can address this -

There is an AP article saying vandals who spray-painted city vehicles in Orlando, FL left anti-Obama and McCain, but pro-Hillary messages. I doubt true Hillary supporters would do such a thing, and fear it is an attempt to smear PUMAs. Is there a way to proactively denounce this? The article can be read here:

Vandals tag 60 cars with anti-Obama messages

I like gold or sandy brown. The sandy brown would match the Hillary t-shirts advertised on her site.

I don’t think brown would stand out though, imo

By the way ladies, in my union, the IBEW..(International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers)… The ladies are paid the exact SAME rate that I myself is being paid. I agree with the letter post above my previous post by mpdamon #7, it is not fair. My 60 year old mother finally figured it out too. SHE is the MINORITY while being in the MAJORITY. She is/was a disgruntled republican, but was gonna vote for Hillary and does not like Obama or McCain.
my two cents…

The “Pitt Panthers” from the University of Pittsburgh, are Blue and Gold. Their uniforms and the golden Panther is awesome.

#19 OnlyHill on 06.29.08 at 9:37 am

I like to see the bracelet’s colors come as close to matching the color of Puma cats—a light brown or tan color and the color purple—the color that has come to designate a centrist view.

#20 Headclunker on 06.29.08 at 9:43 am

#10 – Vandals in Orlando

The thing is that anyone can download PUMA cards and the spray painting does not fit. That is malicious kid stuff.

We need to follow up with the Orlando authorities. BO is generally disliked in Florida. When I went to the BO event, there were about 20 cars, but only 2 had bumper stickers.

#21 DancesWithPumas on 06.29.08 at 9:44 am

I spent some time placing rolled up quarter pages on car windshields / in door handles yesterday and this morning. There are comapnies that to this for a fee, but I don’t know if there is a minimun quantity requirement, or what their fee schedule is. Just a thought in order to reach those who aren’t on the internet much and don’t know how to connect with PUMA.

PS On Thursday afternoon I was called the C-word by a guy in his late 30s – early 40s. He was in an suv that had an O bumpersticker on it. Bad enough in and of itself, but the guy was gay (equality sticker and rainbow stripe). All of this because I asked him to move his suv so I could get into my garage.

It really stings and stinks when a member of an oppressed group attacks someone of another oppressed group based on that which affiliates them to those groups (race, skin tone, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, mental/physical abilities, etc.). Attacks and negative feedback based on these kinds of distinctions isn’t very contructive given the characteristics are permanent and beyond anyone’s control. And, it isn’t helpful to add to the pile when you know members of these classes have struggled enough already.

A rising tide lifts all boats.

Thanks for listening.

#22 cjv on 06.29.08 at 9:55 am

#19 He is likely only influenced by the media spin and seeks information that supports only his views. Eventually, this evolves where one takes on the definition as a sense of self. Then they see it as an insult, attack towards their’s self definition of personality, thier identity, so to speak. Result, the type of repsonses that you had to hear. Thus, it’s their way to defend just themselves.
As hard as it is, as it happens in all aspects of life, I try to find something neutral to say, such as “Have a nice day” and move on. After all, it is not, in my opinion, an verbal attack against you.
And you never know, an neutral response might just work positively on some and they may begin to understand a different point of view. We can only hope.

#23 DancesWithPumas on 06.29.08 at 9:55 am

#10 DWPforHILL

Yeah, I can just see it: a gang of old bitter women, armed with cans of spray paint, roaming around n the middle of the night, vandalizing cars to get their message out.

Sounds like a wilding group of boys attempting, in their lackwitted thuggish ways, to discredit Senator Clinton supporters. Obama has set the tone. Imagine if he had real power?

#24 mpdamon on 06.29.08 at 9:57 am

#10 regarding vandals – sounds like something Obama supporters would do, especially since he appeals to the
under-21 set . . . sort of like the Reichstag burning isn’t it.
Re: bracelets – I kind of like purple and black but will wear whatever is decided on.
Am sending out e-mails with message: “Obama flip-flops again: will accept public financing/will NOT accept public financing. THis is the ‘Change We Can Believe In’,
tell Senator Obama to ‘Keep The Change’.
I may have some bumper-stickers made with a similar message.

#25 FLgayGuy4Hill on 06.29.08 at 10:02 am

Hey All,

I was looking at the Action Center and I don’t see door drops. I am looking to print out the lengthy cards you hand on door knobs. Do we have these available?

Thanks!

#26 Battle for the Hill on 06.29.08 at 10:02 am

#7 The letter written by Lynette was very powerful. If people can move beyond the race issue and come together, women in particular can have a POWERFUL voice. But, if people are merely selecting their candidate purely based on race, then sadly, women will continue to struggle to break that glass ceiling for years to come. We need to come together as WOMEN, regardless of color. In doing so, we can, in essence, take the first step in eliminating racism. We have the power, we need to implement it.

Funny, I never considered myself an activist, but after this election, I’m really starting to sound like one, lol. This election really pissed me off! Can you tell?

#27 cjv on 06.29.08 at 10:09 am

#24 I sense they are many who join in with you on sounding like one for the first time!

#28 hillfan4mccain on 06.29.08 at 10:12 am

#23 flgayguy4hill

The only negative with door drops would be in suburbia where most people drive into their garages. We did drops once for our small business. It had no impact at all. We had more impact with flyers put w/their newspapers. Of course, for “in” city living. Different story I’m sure. Just thinking of ones budget.

#29 hillfan4mccain on 06.29.08 at 10:17 am

I was wonder if anyone could enlighten me in regards to Bo’s stance on sex offenders. A friend told me recently that he was in favor of reducing time for good behavior. If this is true I think this would change any parants mind on Bo. Most parents I know feel offenders should be hung. I have seen things on the internet but not sure how much is real.

#30 prplvette85 on 06.29.08 at 10:18 am

#10 I sure hope this was on a street with cameras, so they can prove it was in fact young little thugs probably getting paid to discredit the non obama supporters. just like the ones who are hacking into web sites, making threatening phone calls etc. They will stop at nothing to give us a bad name. That is why it is important to us to focus on writing letters, calls etc. do not join in arguing with them on blogs or going to the new sites that are going to be popping up ie…hound dogs or whatever that is. We should just write a letter directly to Rendell or whoever, but not give the sites the time of day.

#31 dmrr on 06.29.08 at 10:18 am

“WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama announced plans Saturday for a midsummer trip that will take him to the Middle East and Europe for firsthand observation and consultations with foreign leaders while providing him an opportunity to bolster his national security credentials for the fall election against Republican John McCain.”

Bolster his national security credentials? Please…expertise does not one trip make…

#32 doria on 06.29.08 at 10:19 am

I love Ed Rendell. He is debating Rob Portman on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace. Discussing VP. Ed says he plans on staying Gov. until 2011 and only then would an Energy or Transportation Cabinet position interest him….then said he respects Rob Portman and would love to see him as McCain’s VP IN CASE THEY WIN!!!

#33 prplvette85 on 06.29.08 at 10:21 am

While it’s nice to have someone finally take on the nonstop biased coverage of NBC and MSNBC, Bill O’Reilly and FOX are some of the worst offenders of the same thing for Bush and the Republicans. I don’t think his rant is going to convince anyone. Too bad. We need media people of credibility to say the same thing.

#31…Yes, indeed one in the same…he also said during his now famous S.F. fundraising speech that he didn’t feel he had to pick a VP with foreign policy experience because it was his “best” subject because he had lived in Indonesia (when he was a child) and taken a trip in college to Pakistan…WOW…I’m overwhelmed by the resume….

#43 jrhed on 06.29.08 at 10:41 am

Good Morning Everyone,

On this fine Sunday morning this bitter American and his family decided to cling on to their religion, so I’m a little late on checking the news today.

I do have a new post up this morning, but I also am hoping that someone can answer something for me. Now I’m an independent, rather conservative on national security and fiscal issues, but rather liberal on Social issues. As you know, I rarely talk about social issues because they are so divisive. But tell me how does Obama plan to cater to both the Gay community and the Evangelicals this week. His wife is out promoting how he equates the Gay rights movement to that of the Civil Rights Movement. In reality, I believe they are not seperate, but one in the same. But he also has scheduled these “faith” forums to attempt to garner support from the community that is most opposed to gay marriage and civil unions.
I’m sure he will pander to both, but as gay friend of mine pointed out last night: How is he possibly going pander to both of these groups simultaneously? Could make for an interesting week.

Anyways, I have a new post up today.

Why Obama & Dean Fear 4 Million

#44 mrjerbub on 06.29.08 at 10:41 am

#33 Notobama2 You are absolutly right. That person does nothing but spew venom. She has hated the entire Clinton family for years. A real low-life, IMO.

#45 dmrr on 06.29.08 at 10:41 am

Some of the quotes from this speech include:

“I would like somebody who knows about a bunch of stuff that I’m not as expert on. I think a lot of people assume that might be some sort of military thing to make me look more Commander-in-Chief-like. Ironically, this is an area–foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more and understand the world better than Senator Clinton or Senator McCain.”
“It’s ironic because this is supposedly the place where experience is most needed to be Commander-in-Chief. Experience in Washington is not knowledge of the world. This I know. When Senator Clinton brags ‘I’ve met leaders from eighty countries’–I know what those trips are like! I’ve been on them. You go from the airport to the embassy. There’s a group of children who do native dance. You meet with the CIA station chief and the embassy and they give you a briefing. You go take a tour of a plant that [with] the assistance of USAID has started something. And then–you go.”
“You do that in eighty countries–you don’t know those eighty countries. So when I speak about having lived in Indonesia for four years, having family that is impoverished in small villages in Africa–knowing the leaders is not important–what I know is the people. . . .”
“I traveled to Pakistan when I was in college–I knew what Sunni and Shia was [sic] before I joined the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. . . .”
“Nobody is entirely prepared for being Commander-in-Chief. The question is when the 3 AM phone call comes do you have somebody who has the judgment, the temperament to ask the right questions, to weigh the costs and benefits of military action, who insists on good intelligence, who is not going to be swayed by the short-term politics. By most criteria, I’ve passed those tests and my two opponents have not.”

I unsubscribed from MoveOn.org a number of months ago, and they must have sold my email address to sodahead because I just got this email dated for June 27th:

It is a very biased and one sided set of questions!
Especially in lieu of the fact that both Hillary and Bill have also donated to the BHO campaign fund.

Oh yes, she did. This new one is a result of her collaborations with other “crooks”…oh, sorry, spelling error…other “cooks”..Howard, Nancy, et al. The Title?

It’s hard to fathom why Obama should be mau-maued into paying off the debt that Hillary and Bill accrued attacking and undermining him, while mismanaging the campaign and their nearly quarter-billion-dollar war chest so horribly that one Hillaryland insider told The New Republic that it bordered on fraud.

#56 Thanks to you Murphy for giving us the forum! It’s so refreshing to be able to post with such ease – the HRC forum was exceptionally frustrating because either your posts didn’t show up or they would show up hours after you wrote them. It wasn’t very conducive to constructive or informative conversation…

Great idea!
I’ve been doing the attach to car thing, but it’s slow because I feel I have to be so careful not to set off alarms, or do damage to windshield wipers, etc. The doorknob hangers would be great.

Hello all-
I have just a quick minute but wanted to update everyone, I am at a nurse practitioner conference in Maryland, very near DC.
At lunch yesterday, a group of women I have never met began to talk about the election, saying they didn’t know enough about BO, needed to look into his “voting record”. One woman said, “that won’t take long, he hardly ever votes” she then went on to say about a group she had seen on the news- guess who? The Pumas!!
I proudly into’d myself as a PUMA democrat. The converstaion got quite lively, all 8 of them were HRC supporters and now not sure what to do.
I kept the conversation going, trying to dispel a lot of the myths that are out there.
Interestingly, there was representation from Iowa, Wisconsin and Oregon- all overwhelmingly BO states but these women know plenty of HRC supporters.
See you next week when I return, hopefully I will sneak in and read posts later on.

#67 go_Ohio_Lady on 06.29.08 at 11:14 am

#65 DancesWithPumas and #25 FLgayGuy4Hill, you might want to check with your city council to see if you are allowed to hang anything on a person’s car door or house door. In the city I live in a permit is a must or you can be arrested on the spot if someone calls the police.

Re: Michelle Obama’s thesis, done to fulfill a requirement for a BA in Sociology. I downloaded, printed it off, and read it quite a while ago. A synopsis of it is that she did a study of Black Princeton students to determine what, if any, effect their years at Princeton
had on their interactions with whites. It is an excellent
project and attempted to determine whether such students were separatist or integrationist before, during, and after that experience and what, if any, such experience had on them. It is a scholarly and very informative thesis . . . extremely well-written. I don’t know about various innuendos that it is a “Racist” work, but I did not find any trace of Racism and welcome anyone to enlighten me if they disagree. Despite my enjoyment of the thesis I still will not vote for Obama.

Soon everyone will, but we can help speed it up by what you are doing, and everyone is doing.

Oh, and about Door Hangers — GREAT idea. Am sending the tireless Marylandpuma an email now.

We are also ordering Yard Signs (cheap, effective!) to put out in place of BO signs this summer and fall.

Tshirts order got hung up a bit but are ON THE WAY. We will have a new tshirt design available to order this week.

mpdamon #73. I read it as well and broadly agree with you. On the most important question, is it an anti-white or bitter paper? absolutely not. You are also correct in your description of the thesis — it’s a study of how black students’ experience as Princeton grads affected their likelihood to live a racially integrated life after graduation.

I was underwhelmed by the scholarly quality of it overall, and could pick some small and not so small nits with it, but the thesis is no “little red book” of bitter racial diatribe, not at all.

It’s a mediocre study of an interesting question written by a 22 year old with many preconceived notions.

And btw, Murphy, the giftshop software I use is a FREE download. All I did was to hire a programmer to install many modifications because I don’t know php or MySQL script needed to install. But once up and running, the admin panel is really simple and would be a great way for you to sell PUMA products. PayPal and other payment gateways within.

It is called, OSC (Open Source Commerce) and used or copied by most internet shop owners who don’t want to pay higher monthly fees charged by companies like Yahoo etc. just to have an eCommerce software. The biggest advantage with OSC is that should you move from one hosting company to another, you can take your store with you.

http://www.oscommerce.com

Note: if you want I could give you the name of my programmer. His fees are reasonable but there are some time restraints because he lives in India but got his college degree here in the USA. At least save this idea for the future.

Has anyone heard of the “B.H.O. House Parties” now going on across the nation? A report yesterday on the local news showed 2 different B.H.O. supporters who hosted a “B.H.O. Party” by inviting people into their homes to talk about B.H.O. politics while offering food and drink to the people who show up. In the 2 interviews that was shown there were only a couple of people who attended either house party. I personally think that is the most stupid idea I have ever heard of. He (B.H.O.) has to be getting desperate to have people open their homes for him so they can feed a person a sandwich to win their support.

Hmmm…a ham sandwich for my vote…nope…it’s worth more than that and not for sale!

I agree. Hillary’s campaign was horribly mismanaged.
Just shows what over-confidence can do. That said; it is also ancient history. The question is: where do we go from here. The answer: continue to inform everyone we know ( and maybe some that we don’t know ) that there are options available other that blindly accepting the candidate of choice of the DNC.
Where the DNC really messed up this year was in not attempting to reconcile differences when it became obvious that there were two constituency groups, both with a history of having been disenfranchised. They assumed that we, being the least unified and organized, could be persuaded to “go along” and hope for “next time.” Major miscalculation . . . as they are now seeing.

Did a little of my part today. Talked with a friend involved in city politics in town. Our conversation turned to BHO. I told her don’t expect me to vote for him, she was flabbergasted! I pointed out my age and life experiences on decision making. I feel my life experiences superceeds hers and that BHO did not have what it takes to be my POTUS. We both went to see Bill Clinton speak this year and I did go see Hillary in Cleveland. I told my friend that my choice is not because of skin color but qualifications or lack thereof. BHO has none. She respected and understood my reasoning. Her reason for wanting to support him was to have a change and get democratic control. I told her, not a good enough reason to sway me or millions of others. End of story, we’re still friends but she knows where I stand and why.

Isn’t it interesting that people think that voting for Obama is going to bring some kind of “change”. I thought that was what drove our vote in 2006 and I didn’t see any “change” with electing a Democratic Congress, except for Pelosi saying that Impeachment was off the table. Do we really WANT that kind of “change”?

Not only did I hear about the house parties, I also heard the other day they were actually offering $50.00 to the first person to cross over from Hillary’s side. The person who told me this did not stay very long on their blog but also said by the time they left no one had taken them up on the offer and one of the regulars had commented that they had alway’s been an Obama supporter but since they had no Hillary cross overs could she/he accept the money. Oh boy I really think they are in trouble.

storytellers, regarding referring to Barack Obama by his middle name.

Many many people refer to him as Hussein or Barack Hussein Obama to highlight that his father was Muslim, he has many Muslim family members, etc. But there is also an implication (very unfair) that he is also a Muslim (he’s not, he’s Christian) and even worse, that he is a terrorist (obviously not).

It would be like if people referred to Mitt Romney as, “that Mormon, Mitt Romney” or “that lesbian, Ellen DeGeneres” Both statements are TRUE (Romney is a Mormon, and Ellen is gay) BUT there is a clear intent to imply that there is something WRONG with that truth.

The McCain Update – June 27, 2008

This week we released two new web ads exposing the truth about Barack Obama. The first web ad, “Words,” focuses on Senator Obama’s broken pledge to the American people on public financing. Although he promised to work with John McCain to preserve the current public financing system, Senator Obama ultimately broke his word. Click here to watch this ad.

The second ad, entitled “Dr. No,” spotlights Obama’s opposition to providing the American people with short-term, near-term and long-term relief from higher energy prices. Click here to watch this ad.

Also, be sure to watch our latest tv ad, “Purpose,” about energy security and John McCain’s comprehensive and bipartisan plan. It is airing in target states and on cable news, so be sure to watch it today!

The Lexington Project – Making America Energy Independent

Our nation’s future security and prosperity depend on the next President making the hard choices that would break our nation’s dependence on foreign sources of energy and ensure our economic prosperity by meeting tomorrow’s demands for a clean energy portfolio.

John McCain has made the necessary choices – producing more power, pushing technology to help free our transportation sector from its use of foreign oil, cleaning up our air and addressing climate change, and ensuring that Americans have dependable, renewable energy sources. He will lead the effort as president to develop advanced transportation technologies and alternative fuels to promote energy independence and cut-off the flow of oil wealth to regimes like Iran. Click here to learn more details about this project.

Don’t Miss Your Chance to Ride the Bus!

We are re-launching our popular “Ride the Bus” contest this week to give one lucky McCainiac and a friend the chance to spend a day on the Straight Talk Express with John McCain. If you make a contribution of any amount before midnight June 30th, you’ll be entered to win. Click here to contribute today.

The Straight Talk Express has become a symbol of the McCain campaign and provides John McCain with a unique forum to engage in conversation about the issues affecting our country. With an immediate donation, you will be entered to win. Please follow this link to complete your donation today. Thank you!

Good morning everyone,
I posted this on a previous thread, but I want to post again. When people say that they want to vote for BO because they want a Democrat in the WH, I think we have to respond with this–What evidence do we have that BO will follow the Democratic agenda? He has no significant history or legislative record upon which we can base our decision. Of late he has retracted his support for previously stated positions (e.g. public financing, gun control, etc) and has lied about his own legislative record (e.g. voting to support the military healthcare initiative). At least with McCain we have a long history demonstrating his positions. That is also what we would have had with Hillary. With BO, in my opinion, we have no idea what we will be getting. So, the Dem in the WH argument is as lame as “change”. Both are ridiculous and implausible arguments.

You’re welcome Storytellers!

My aunt is a storyteller. She’s a social worker and she volunteers at schools and homeless family shelters. She “writes” all of her stories. It is amazing to watch the kids faces when she tells a story. They are Mesmerized. They always want to talk to her afterwards about how they felt — they always feel like they were IN the story as she was telling it. Really amazing.

#98 Hence his desire to distance himself from Muslims like, for example, his campaign moving the two Muslim women from behind the podium at a campaign stop. They have since apologized for the incident, however, what bothers me is that it implies that there is something wrong with being Muslim. It is a religion and while some people think it has negative connotations it is important to note that not all Muslims are terrorists…not all terrorists are Muslim. Obama gave his speech in Philadelphia to urge people to have an honest dialogue about race but he keeps distancing himself from the Muslim issue. Inclusiveness goes beyond race and it doesn’t help the Muslims in this country to further negative opinions by not addressing the issue head-on.

#7 … Your letter calmly, articulately and reasonably lays out some of the reasons why many of us … I hope many millions of us … cannot support the Democratic Candidate … We are fighting the War of Sexism which directly affects half (or more than half) of the world’s population every second of every day, and indirectly, the other half! SEXISM NEGATIVELY AFFECTS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US … no matter what gender, what race! SEXISM IS A DETRIMENT TO ALL HUMANS! As others have stated, this primary election has radicalized me! I can no longer stand by and idly watch the women of the US and the world being treated as second class citizens, or worse! I sent your letter to about 25 people – friends, relatives, local Democratic state representatives, regional Democratic organizers, and the Diane Rehm Show … acknowledging that I saw your letter on the Puma PAC website. I personally do not see how anyone can find fault with your reasonings! At times with our children, we have to use Tough Love! That is what a protest vote is … Tough Love! The DNC, the media, and the old boys network don’t seem to “get it” … we have no choice but to use the protest vote to send our message! Nothing else seems to get their attention!!!

Your letter says so much!!! Thanks for posting it! Thanks to Puma PAC (again!) for being there for us!!!

Next project – I will be dropping off Puma PAC flyers and cards real soon! I am finally “getting” it!!!

Hi, PUMAs,

I haven’t had much time for actions or blogging, but I was on here last night for a little while. We had a discussion about some PUMAs who have apparently been getting flak on here for saying they are against Obama, but they are also against McCain. At least one of them has said that s/he is leaving this blog because s/he was accused of supporting Obama.

I just want to say that I have been on this site since the second day it went up, and I have said publicly and consistently that I am an independent voter who crossed over from Planet Independence to support Hillary’s candidacy. If she does not ultimately get the Democratic nomination, I will go back to voting for an independent candidate, like I usually do. So far, no one here has taken me to task for this, although I read many posts here which say that in order to defeat Obama, I “must” vote for McCain. I am not listening to that, and I will vote independent anyway, because I have never supported the Republican agenda.

So, if you are a PUMA and if you are not in favor of voting for McCain, I hope you will continue to blog here anyway and not feel intimidated by all the voices that are loudly calling for us to support a Republican candidate. There are many different opinions represented here and on other PUMA sites that I have visited.

We are all united against the corrupt nomination process of the Democratic Party. We are all against their nominee-select. We are all in favor of working until the (angry and bitter) end for Hillary as the rightful nominee. BUT — not all of us will vote for McCain.

I just want you independent PUMAs out there to hold on to your convictions and stay strong for independent candidates. Eventually, we will win — ALL PUMAs UNITED.

I doubt I’m the only one who is seeing some in-fighting beginning to happen on here and it’s disturbing to me in many ways. I am going to address one issue and hope no one minds.

I have made MY PERSONAL CHOICE to vote for Senator McCain IF, and only IF, Hillary Clinton is not the nominee of the Democratic Party. After a lot of thought and soul-searching, I might add. This started even before they announced that Nobama was the PRESUMED nominee. I was beginning to see over and over again that there was a joint effort going on with the heads of the DNC, the Democratic Party officials like Pelosi and Reid, and the media to try to force Senator Clinton out of the race. We had Dean saying everywhere on all the “news” shows that he wanted a committment from the SDs by June. All that made no sense to me. The only one that I could see that thought it was great to continue the race all the way to the convention floor was Lou Dobbs. He thought it was great. I thought it was great too. People were voting, lots of people were voting. They kept saying how many voters were voting.. huge, record turnouts!!! Wasn’t this a good thing??? Finally (you know, I’m thick sometimes), I got the idea.. they had decided on Nobama for the candidate. They weren’t going to give HRC the opportunity she deserved. They weren’t going to count the votes. When they talked about Florida and Michigan.. I got furious. Michigan is bad.. it’s really bad.. but FLORIDA???? AGAIN!!!! Florida again didn’t get to have its votes actually count????!!!! I mean, if you live in Florida and you care about voting, it must be enough to make you want to move… at any rate, when I put all the stuff together in my head, I started thinking. I like the idea of there being a third party.. don’t get me wrong there. I really, really do, because in my opinion there ought to be term limits for all the politicians and for the SCOTUS too. I think if our representatives didn’t have so much time to become entrenched, maybe they wouldn’t sell their souls to the highest bidder. I think there could be MORE than a few people who become elected to represent us in the Congress and in the Senate with high ideas and ideals and then… they buy into the game. So I really, really like the idea of term limits. I like the idea of a third party because I think BOTH the Republican and the Democrats have become way too blase about following the wishes of WE THE PEOPLE. I think its obvious. A lot of us got out there and voted again in 2006 and what has been accomplished by the now (yes, I know only slightly) majority Dem Congresss? NOTHING!!! zip, zap.. nada… why????? I think I’ve gotten some of my information on the why from the actions by Pelosi recently, she has her own agenda and it’s not the agenda of the people whom she represents.. they forget that they represent US!!! THEY are our employees and WE are their employers.

Still, I had to believe that a vote for a third party candidate could possibly help Nobama this year rather than dividing the Dem party.. see, if HE is the nominee, I want him beaten … and beaten BADLY!!! I could just stay home… that’s what plenty of people are deciding to do and that may help beat Nobama.. I hope it does help beat Nobama.. I could vote a third party candidate, IF, it would 100% take votes away from Nobama… but.. I decided to support John McCain. I’m still not 100% sure about this choice, but I do believe he is an honorable man. I believe he does say what he believes in and I don’t think he’s so far to the right that it will destroy this country with him as POTUS.. but I do know that a vote for McCain will be like 2 votes against Nobama.. and frankly, that’s my main goal… DEFEAT Nobama …

But the very fact that I am incensed over the way the vote has been manipulated, the way the voters have been robbed, not once, not twice, but many, many times.. the way everybody has fallen into line in this election cycle… I would never fault anyone for voting or not voting, or whatever their PERSONAL CHOICE might be. I do not think any Puma would fault anyone’s choice. Debate your position with all your passion, yes!!! Attack anyone else’s position, NO, absolutely NEVER!!!!

Let’s just keep that in mind, always. We are together on this. Whatever solution each of us, as an individual, comes up with to make the end result that Nobama is not elected POTUS is what is important. Each individual’s solution is important to each individual and not something to attack about.

Let’s attack the enemies of FAIRNESS, JUSTICE, EQUALITY and the AMERICAN WAY… never each other.

#87 mpdamon… # 53 was quoting a NYT Dowd article, not agreeing with the content:

Hillary’s fundraising didn’t take a nose dive until BO’s campaign started the “racial” smear stuff through the MSM and bloggers to incite potential voters.

This started when the South primaries started to be in play, many AAs were still supporting Clinton, prior to that.

It took a heavy toll. Also, as Patti Solis Doyle and Mark Penn started to butt heads, interesting things started happening with how funds were being allocated.

It has since come out that Doyle had deep ties to Obama and Axelrod???

Doyle was one BO’s first hires from Clinton campaign (as BO’s “VP Senior Chief of Staff”.

Given who WE KNOW BO is, and the Chicago-Style politics he is well-groomed in, I would be the first to believe that none of it was an accident, or that somewhere during the middle of Clinton’s campaign, Solis-Doyle was working behind the scenes on behalf of her future political resume.

It was reported that Clinton began clamping down on who had access to info regarding her schedules, topics being discussed at a campaign stop or news conference and debate preparation was limited to very close-knit allies (maggie williams). Shortly thereeafter, Solis Doyle’s departure was announced and not another word was her from her until… BO camp hired her.

Clinton is a loyalist… Solis-Doyle was asked to step down for a reason. Good bet, they knew more than was told to the public about Solis-Doyle’s relationship with BO/Axelrod and how it may have been affecting her campaign/finances.

lavenia…wonderfully said!

first…I have been for term limits for ever! My top list of “politicians to boot” are ted kennedy..the murderer, robert byrd, the klansman and barbara boxer the jealous and bitter woman..(hence her dislike of Dr. Rice!)

also, i find it very weird that people oppose John McCain considering 37 months ago they were begging him to be Vp to kerry…and noone on this site or any other site has explained to me how McCain can be a good guy one day then evil the next. I equate this with Hillary and Bill because last year Bill was the first black president, then all of a sudden he is a racist! Does this make any sense?

#142 heysandy on 06.29.08 at 12:39 pm

Regarding the debate as how to vote Nov. 4th., it is an individual and acceptable choice whether to stay home, write Hillary in, vote 3rd party, or vote John McCain. I will be voting McCain, but no one should be criticized for doing otherwise.

#143 wontbackdown on 06.29.08 at 12:41 pm

I truly believe that BO has already made the VP offer to Clinton and now it is the wait and see game on “if” enough “come around” to get him elected.

BO has to sell Hillary to his supporters (who are far more left and venomous) just like she has to.

How does he take back the scathing attempts to ruin her credibility or her husbands’ or the enormous sexism and racist divide tactics that were both facilitated by his campaign and not denounced by democratic leaders?

How does she simply accept a slot that will be marked as:

1) the reason for his likely defeat 2) minimizes her experience, diminishes her political future, and accociates her with a calibre of character far inferior to hers 3) put him in a position to be “trained” by her on the issues she so connects with voters and he get all the credit…. and should he win ….4) won’t allow her to run against him in 2012.

#144 dmrr on 06.29.08 at 12:41 pm

#141 Again political posturing…any blame for an Obama loss will fall squarely at the feet of Hillary Clinton if it doesn’t appear that she and her surrogates did whatever they could do to persuade her supporters to vote for Obama…

I understand what you’re saying about Clinton’s campaign but she ( or her advisors ) assumed thay had the nomination wrapped up and didn’t plan to compete at any length. They also failed to consider the effect of the caucusses. Although I have contributed to pay down Clinton’s campaign debt I am not pleased with
contributing anything towards Mark Penn’s bill, which I think is the largest dollar amount in the debt. For his incompetence I think he should write off the bill.

I can’t believe that Hillary and Terry could really think that we would be united in the end. It’s crazy I give them more credit than that I believe they are intelligent people. Obama has some real significant negatives about him. The negatives that we cite here are not even addressed by his fight the smears campaign. They are simply ignored as if they don’t even exist. I could never vote for Obama – he is just wrong. He is inexperienced, he messes with corrupt politics, and he associates with the worst crowd. If the DNC had to select someone they could have at least selected someone with a little more intelligence. No we won’t come around, you (the DNC) have underestimated us again, and it is this underestimation that will be you’re undoing in the end.

Murphy just an idea. I have VERY strong feeling about some of our people coming up for re-election and will not vote for some because they obviously drank the kool aid. Some others were forced to. Some are sticking to their guns even with all the pressure on them. I would like to see a letterhead type page with the PUMA seals and goals on it…then a space below where we could write a personal message. (I know we have the letterhead but not with the stated goals.) These people don’t take the time to look up PUMA goals. I want it in their faces. For those I will vote against (yes, some are democrats!) I want to let them know why I will not be voting for them. For those forced it would show they do have support if they change their mind. For those sticking it out they have in their hand a reason to continue on. They are not alone. I just feel this would be a more organized approach, more like a huge company letterhead rather than just individuals. Maybe we can even get uniform PUMA envelopes with the PUMA where the return address goes and put our return address stickers beside it. Just a thought for uniformity and cohesiveness. (If that makes sense) Course if they saw the envelopes they might go to bottom of pile :) I also think this would be great for the media contacts as well.

C. “… delegates at time of district-level selection. If a presidential candidate entitled to an allocation
under this rule is no longer a candidate at the time at-large delegates are selected, his/her
allocation shall be proportionately divided among the other preferences entitled to an allocation.”

My Comment: BHO may have been “entitled” to Florida delegates because he and all others kept their name on the ballot, but he certainl was not enititled to any Michigan delegates because he had removed his name from the MI ballot along with Edwards, Dodds, Richardson, who ran internet ads and email campaigns (not to be done until after the primaries were over) and told people to vote, “uncommitted” and it was the uncommitted votes that the DNC gave to BHO on May 31st of this year by the 50/50 split.

WANTED: I am in need of an adult, prefably a PUMA (who else could I trust?), who can program Parental Controls on my laptop. I need to be restrained from visiting sites that are overrun by OYouth.

I followed a link that took me to a site that devulged Murphy’s personal info (aren’t there laws against this sort of intrusion, stalking, incitement, and harassment of private citizens?)

The site I visited is “accusing” Murphy of being a republican and a republican front for mccain.

Personally, I find it laughable, but, even if Murphy is a republican or a shill for mccain (she isn’t, of course), it wouldn’t change one iota my gratitude for the work she is doing.

If a republican and I happen to align around an affinity for preserving the democratic process, and want to act against those who would corrupt it, then, in the words of the presumptive empty suit: “I’m cool with that.”

There’s a petition at care2 that is against PUMA. You may want to check it out and participate. There’s a text box for submitting comments.

I wonder why they’re expending so much energy on the “dozen or so” members of PUMA? Very strange.

“I would like somebody who knows a bunch of stuff that I’m not as expert on…”

I know 11 year olds who speak better than that!
And that “somebody” he’s referring to is—hmmmm, Hillary?

#104 qouted “We have no idea what we’ll be getting” referring to Obama. That very idea is why I am so outraged. How can this Congress and all of its so-called wisemen and women flock to such a blank page (well, maybe there’s a little chicken scratch on it)??? I can only surmise that it’s because they can USE him for their own agendas. Behind that closed door, or the many closed doors, deals were spun into the most elaborate web to decieve us. They will each grab a piece of their new president and will support him in exchange for presidential favors their way. Then there’s the symbolism of being the first political party to elect an African American president, therefore solidifying a growing base of voters for decades to come.

#128 – Lavenia–Texas Puma -Welcome, if I haven’t greeted you before. Your words are powerful.

Will Bower yesterday said on FOXNews that the PUMAS all have different strategies–and we honor each PUMA’S choice. You win a battle by coming from all sides of an opponent–you cover all flanks. Just imagine us as the strong cats we are, stealthily watching from the cliffs and caves and brush as the opponent saunters down the path waving at the crowd. Each cat has a position of advantage. Use it.

My Comment: That means they had it *was* in their power to seat all Florida delegation! It means that Howard Dean and/or the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee did not have to penalize Florida at all! It means that on May 31st they could have given Florida *back* its full 215 Delegate seats. It means, that once again the DNC has lied to us!

A Recap: The Florida Republican majority introduced a bill about electronic balloting in an attempt to avoid another 2000 chad fiasco between Bush and Gore. That bill was passed into law by both the majority of republicans as well as the lesser Democrats; but unbeknown to Democrats, at the last minute the Republicans slipped in a rider (I will assume overnight), and then added in a provision or amendment to move the Florida primary date up. Next day when the Democrats found out about it, they strongly objected and they also tried to introduce their own amendment to that bill in an attempt to separate the Democratic Primary from the Republican one by maintaining the original Primary Date; but the Republicans wouldn’t allow it and the Bill was signed into law by the Governor of Florida Tony Crist.

Note: The automatic penalty was suppose to be a 50% reduction… and if Howard Dean had done that instead of a 100% reduction, the popular votes for Hillary Clinton would have been registered and she might have had the momentum at the beginning but did not because Howard Dean denied her that right.

How can you give delegates to a person who was not on the ballot? In FL, OK and the rules do say 1/2 vote and he was on the ballot. Also how did the come up with the allocation in MI. This was a joke!

Sunday Sexism, and the Most Hilarious Headline Ever

“But first, let’s Play Count the Women on the Sunday Shows, a regular game around here. … … Um, that was quick. Meet the men, which is swell, but not one woman on the Sunday shows. Awesome. We’ll likely see them on the pundit panels, but they’re absent on the big line ups.”

#178 Hill2TheHill on 06.29.08 at 1:36 pm

I vote for either black/purple or black/gold bracelets. I think the black is appropriate since we are in a form of mourning for the “lost” democratic party. I like the purple since it represents red & blue mixed. But the gold is nice, too. Very powerful combo.

And I just have to say, I LOVE Stephen Baldwin!

After this weekend of venting, I hope we are rready for an action-filled week!

I’ve been saying that too, it would be good to unite forces and resources in order to make an even bigge impact.
I hope Murphy or someone in power reads your post and takes it into account.
I too have disappointed friends and relatives as well as myself, who are not happy with either party, the democratic party right now is the worst, and we are hoping for something better, hopefully with Hillary as leader.
It seems Hillary is dedicated to the democratic party though, but who knows what the future holds?

Wanted to post this again because I think this is why all the spin is going on right now about “Unity”

As I said: I believe a deal is already cut on VP and will be announced in September.

BO is just maxing out his supporters without alienating
them with a Hillary VP announcement and she is holding fort to see what happens and bringinher supporters in.

This article speaks volumes to the fact of WHY the DNC and Obama are fearing our stance and the numbers in opposition:

Article 20, 7c, page 23 reads:

C. A state party may be required by a vote of the DNC Executive Committee upon a recommendatin of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee to adobt and implement an alternative Party-run delegate selection system which does not conflict with these rules, regardless of any provable positive steps the state may have taken.”

My Comment: What this means is that the DNC had within its power the legal right to put Florida back to its original date (which was around February 15th, I think) . It also means the DNC had within its power the means to select another date for the Florida Primary—and we are not talking about a revote here folks—we are talking Florida Democratic contest separate from the Republicans. We are talking PRIMARY!

Now, legally, this does not mean the DNC violated its own laws; yet it does mean that they overlooked it or did not try. It means they are corrupt and did not have the interest of the people at heart!

It was all about THE PARTY and getting the money-man BHO nominated!

I also remember James Carvelle on CNN saying a couple of times that BHO has REFUSED to have a reelection even though Carvelle had the monatary backers.

I was very polite but voiced my disappointment at how Hillary Clinton was treated.

#188 vadaryl on 06.29.08 at 1:43 pm

This says it all:

What Keeps Obama & Dean Awake At Night?

The fear that the PUMA community and their silent supporters will realize the power of their fundraising. If just half of those 4 million who do not support Obama were to immediately give $10 to both the McCain campaign and PumaPac, the influx of cash would spread the Puma message like a wildfire through the media while providing the McCain campaign with the extra resources they need to overcome the wealthy who have funded 60% of Obama’s campaign. If the just half of this 4 million were to contribute the media would be forced to question a campaign that they have more often referred to as a “movement”, than as the “political campaign” it is.

Your post about Pattie Solis Doyle reflects my thoughts. There is a belief that she was a “mole” placed by *61′s camp. There are too many coincidences about her ties to Chicago politics, Axlerod, and so on.

As PUMAS, we oppose *61 because he is totally unqualified to be the President for many reasons. I’m drafting a letter that I’m going to post on different websites to counter the charge of racism when anyone challenges his qualifications for office.

On the web, I have read hundreds of many well-thought out letters from people that are opposed to his candidacy.

One more thing, if we follow *61′s campaign money, this will be a good way to defeat him. I agree with another PUMA from Saturday that voter fraud in the GE is not off limits for his campaign troops. He got away with discounting FL and MI, and the alleged fraud in the caucuses.

I am not worried about Hillary; she has more than enough political savvy to weather this storm. The DNC and MSM will try to “spin” his loss on Hillary supporters, but the reason PUMA has gone viral is because so many people reject “spin” and want integrity in politics. Obama and his advisors played a divisive pinball game with Democratic voters and the machine just went TILT. The DNC is bleeding money and credibility at this point…thanks to all of us!

Can we get everyone to flood 360 on Monday with posts. I don’t mean mean one’s, that won’t do us any good. Come up with a nice clean one we all can send maybe the same one. They might have to say something about getting all these posts from PUMA.

12. PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE
Article 12, k-2, page 14

1. Based on the right of the Democratic Party to freely assemble and to determine the criteria for its candidates, it is determined that all candidates for the Democratic nomination for President or Vice President shall:

1a. be registered to vote, and shall have been registered to vote in the last election for the office of President and Vice President; and

1b. have demonstrated a commitment to the goals and objectives of the Democratic Party as determined by the National Chair and will participate in the Convention in good faith.

2. “It is further determined that these requirements are in addition to the requirements set forth by the United States Constitution and any law of the United States.”

My Interpretation: This is an interesting statement considering that conventions and primaries as well as selection of delegates in a primary are not even in our Constitution. The key words here are, “in addition to” which can be interpreted in several ways, in my opinion. Here the DNC is admitting the the democratic rules and bylaws are made in addition to our US Constitution as if to suggest by way of inference that the DNC rules are somehow connected to that same Constitution yet we are never told by what means. For certainly the DNC rules do not constitute any kind of amendment to our constitution. This is why the phrase, “in addition to” is somewhat misleading. It begs the question, is the DNC saying that their rules and bylaws are *separate from* our Constitution? If so, it begs the question, how can the Democratic Party make rules and laws regarding voting in our President outside or our Constitution, because to me, the entire party idea would be unconstitutional. In turn, that would mean that any of us participating in either primaries or caucuses are doing something illegal just by participating in them. humm… In either case, we are led to believe that our votes are not needed, for certainly this entire document is nothing more than rules governing the SELECTION OF DELEGATES and nothing more. The conclusion is, we are not required to vote, and indeed, after what the DNC did on May 31st 2008 perhaps we should not. Basically were are led to the *psychological* conclusion that this DNC document are a conglumeration of organization rules and are not laws … they are not legislative. They are not binding to anyone except to the leaders of the party, delegates and superdelegates. Hence, there is nothing in this document meant to protect the rights of the voters or citizens of the United States—nothing! It does however mention the phase “presidential preference of voters” (For example, see page 16).

I read your post and I have to say that this is one of the things I hate and fear most about the Obama leadership. It seems he has given credibility to this kind of behavior and almost gives permission as a leader for people to revert back to their prejudices. I often talk with a really close friend and vent about how I have serious problems with “THIS” black man as a President because he doesn’t elevate us to a better place. He isn’t a tribute for other blacks to aspire to… but rather he sets us back in time 60 years or more. He sets progress back — not only for racism, but for sexism as well. We were making progress on these issues but he’s allowed the worst in people to flourish again.

#197 vadaryl on 06.29.08 at 1:50 pm

We got to be united, I think starting with 360 could be good. He was going to say something about the 25% but for some reason they decided to drop the story, maybe we can get him to revisit the story and now we could show him we are stronger than we were on Friday and he helped the cause by dropping the story.

IMO, Anderson Cooper is a waste of time. Totally in the tank for BO. I truly believe CNN is on his payroll.

#203 cosmeta on 06.29.08 at 1:57 pm

My apologies please for posting so many DNC rules segments, but I think it a document that ALL of us need to read whether we are democrates or not.

It just seems to me, that if candidates can take our money in the form of donations and if they need our votes in order to base a delegate count on at the Convention, that WE THE PEOPLE have a right to be part of that LEGAL process.

It also seems to me, that perhaps what this country needs is a FEDERAL law *unifying* the Primary system. It should not be state by state… but ONE LAW.

I also feel that since the DNC is nothing more than an organization that each state legislature has more power of its primaries than Howard Dean’s DNC.

So perhaps, this entire fiasco was little more than a power struggle between the state legislatures of FL and MI and the DNC… as to who shall have more power. Kind of like the struggle over the Terry Shavio case between lawmakers and judges.

#207 wontbackdown on 06.29.08 at 2:03 pm

Hey everyone: I want to make an important suggestion:

As we know we are getting new visitors by the thousand each week and new members signing up daily.

As PUMAS who have been here, we know our way around. New visitors and new Members may not.

A PUMA teaches its own how to roam, look for food and water sources, find its way back to the den, watch out for danger, and especially… what being a PUMA is all about!

Should we be any different with young “PUMAs” coming over from another less-friendly pac, or kicked out of some other blog by a troll for voicing themselves or most importantly for seraching for a Den that will give them a voice to be heard, tools for taking action, and finding a place where being a PUMA is a GOOD THING?

So, when someome asks for a direction on our site, I think that as the more experienced PUMAs on the terrain, we should stop what we are doing and be more than happy to post the link, give them a hand, pont the way, and be happy they are asking for directions!

Plus, for those stealthing to see how this Puma Pack treats its own, or newcommers, can’t think of a better way to let them know, inspire visitors to want to come back, and help our new PUMA’s jump into the ACTION and feel they are making a difference, just like we feel!

What do you think… we ARE unique… let’s set the example for just how true that is to everyone that comes here to find out what we are about!

N O R E S P E C T fueled our fire… let’s show the blog world what it looks like on PUMApac.org!

Hi all,
I’ve stopped communicating with and contributing to the Hillary campaign but I’m still getting emails, and today I sent this message. I hope it’s not too strongly worded.

“We love and respect Hillary but lately our respect is diminishing.
Our love for her though will never ever dimish.

This “unity” thing is a joke.
Please, all, do you think even for one second that we cannot see through it?

Please try to understand, we cannot, under any circumstances, even if Hillary Clinton herself, together with Bill and Chelsea, get on their knees and beg, we (my family and I) cannot and will not vote for Barack Obama. 90% of people we speak with feel the same way.

We have seen and heard too much FROM him and we have seen and heard way too much ABOUT him. Barack Obama is not fit to be president of the United States. We have determined that and please do not try to insult our intelligence.

We beg you try to understand, for us it will be John McCain this time.
He is not an oilman, has no connection to oil, has a son in Iraq, has served our country honorably in the military and the Senate.

He will have a turn and then Hillary will be back stronger and better than ever in ’12!

NYC girl and Lavenia, your kind messages truly brought me to tears this morning. I really AM leaving… but it may be a bit of weaning process to get there. so you may hear me pop in on occassion as I go in search of a place where words aren’t deliberately misconstrued. In a forum such as this, it is easy to spot open-mindedness vs “don’t-confuse-me-with-the-facts- my-mind-is-made-up” mentality and your sentiments are definitely of the former type. I appreciate the courage it takes around here to come to the defense of someone whose opinion may differ from the majority. Things have changed radically since the beginnning, and it does feel more like a John McCain or else site than what I’m comfortable with. Still, it ain’t easy to just slip quietly into the night when something has become almost like a friend and sounding board, so to the great disappointment of the John-McCain-or-go-away-crowd, I’ll wean myself away rather than go cold-turkey. Mostl First NYC and Lavenia – thank you thank you. You truly brought tears to my eyes. You know it’s getting tough when a blog can make one weepy. I better go take a hormone or something. Secondly, #136 Ario – I have heard you say this before and I am hoping you can clarify for me before I slink into the sunset. I’ve been with the Senate since 1985, was a delegate to the DNCC in 1984 (for Gary Hart) and have been active in party politics since I was in highschool. I have no recollection of the party ever asking John McCain to be VP. I mean this in all sincerity – can you please point me to this information? I spent a lot of time on the JOhn McCain site (my husband is a McCain supporter) and I have tried and tried to find enough in his stated policy positions (not those that are attributed by others, or by those that we think he won’t be successful at). After the DNC I did try to find enough there to at least consider a vote for him. I’ve compared his positions from 2000 and now and I have made a full-faith effort to find something I could hang my hat on. If it is true that the Democratic party asked him to be VP, that may actually be something that will work for me. Can you please point me to whatever source you’re citing for that?

We should find ways to capitalize on the attention our coalition is getting–more and more every day.
I don’t watch the morning news shows, but they used to sit in front of those large windows that face the street, and people would wave signs. I know we hae Atlantans and New Yorkers here–why aren’t we parading around at Rockefeller Center and in front of the CNN building in downtown Atlanta?? They’ve heard of us. If Anderson Cooper won’t put you on his blog/show, march in front of the Atlanta headquarters. Wear cat paws. Draw whiskers on your face. Carry signs.

#136 Ario (last one for you, i promise) if NY had term limits, HRC would be in her last term. I HATE term limits because we throw out the good with the bad. Also, if you look at state governments with term limits you’ll see that the members of the legislature stop paying attention to their district when they are in their final term. When they aren’t accountable to an electorate, they don’t pay attention anymore. The other thing they do (this is especially obvious in California) is they start working towards lining up their next job, and less time on their current one.

PUMApac is the best and so is Murphy, the most wonderful people, more power to us, we’re all fighting for the noblest of causes!!!

It’s obvious that Solis Doyle and Mark Penn, were misdirecting Hillarys campaign.
When I went to Las Vegas as a volunteer, we heard the rumors from someone, that in New York they have ordered a lots of food for the volunteers, more than they needed and also rented rooms that never used.
At that time they had spent a lot of money without a reason. That’s when Hillary realized that she was short of funds.
By the way, in Texas those people who were holding signs of BO, were getting 50 dlls. per day.
One of them with whom I was talking to, told me “I respect you, because I can’t believe you drove all night from California just to support your candidate”
I bet you the guy never voted for BO.

#222 scathcart:

When you log in here, here is what I do:

First I go back and luanch another brower window. I simply minimize my PUMA page and go bacl and double click on my internet explorer button If Internet explorer is what you use)

That way I have two seperate windows open for visiting other places people suggest and staying right here with the other page.

When I want to post a link from a page I read and want to post link here:

1) go up to the address bar on the page you want to post the link from, click on the address and hold your ctrl key then the c down at the same time to copy the url address link.

2) come back to PUMA page and go to leave a comment box and

3) hold your ctrl key then the v down at the same time to paste the the url address you copied into the comment box.

Hit submit… you might want to type in what the article is about, as well either after you paste it or before.

The comment box has similar funtionality as using your word-processor.

(cut, paste, copy, paragraph return, etc.) no font stuff though, or bold or italics, etc.)

Hope that helps. If not post again and I’ll try to be more informative… It takes a little practice for all of us, but well worth it… and good for your fellow bloggers to help keep us informed!

This piece from
http://politicallydrunk.blogspot.com/2008/06/why-obama-dean-fear-4-million.html

“What Keeps Obama & Dean Awake At Night?
The fear that the PUMA community and their silent supporters will realize the power of their fundraising. If just half of those 4 million who do not support Obama were to immediately give $10 to . . . PumaPac, the influx of cash would spread the Puma message like a wildfire through the media . . . If just half of this 4 million were to contribute the media would be forced to question a campaign that they have more often referred to as a “movement”, than as the “political campaign” it is.”

Pumas are:
“The PUMA Community represents the most ardent, values driven and politically educated of Hillary Clinton’s supporters. They do not fall for the traditional talking points of the political parties that are meant to drive a wedge between the electorate. “

#235 Lin4Hill on 06.29.08 at 2:35 pm

This is why I oppose *61. The DP “selected” him despite Hillary’s wins in the big-swing states. If you look at *61′s record, it is all about taking no position or talking out of both sides of his mouth.

How in the world can the DP believe that this person inspires the good in humanity when he exploits anyone for political gain?

This is also about cleaning up the corruption in the Democratic Party.

This morning on Face The Nation, Lieberman voiced his support of McCain…..perhaps I am behind and this isn’t new. It was heartening to hear him say that Hillary was prepared to be Commander in Chief on day one. He believes the same of McCain.
BOs’ bullying of him, literally backing him into the wall at the Senate for a couple moments of heart-to-heart
apparently was not successful.

#250 wontbackdown on 06.29.08 at 2:56 pm

#210 headoverhills… First, let me say that I am not certain what your alternate choice might be… McCain is mine only because I have to prepare myself, in the event Hillary doesn’t get the chance to overtake BO at the convention.

I can not vote for BO for the way he pulled this cou off!

I have never been or voted Republican, but if Hillary is not the nominee, I guarantee, I will not vote BO and I will not sit out and not vote, unless there is a chance that somehow not voting keeps BO out of the HOUSE, which I cannot imagine not voting at all would.

Maybe I am missing something, but I have never felt pushed toward McCain here. I made up my mind on my own!

Please, tell me why you feel we are being manuevered into the McCain camp here?

Please, tell me my alternative. I am open to any suggetion, but BO as President. I just cannot do it! The man is an imposter, as far as I am concerned.

I am going to weigh in on the decision of how to vote in November.
WE MUST remember why we are here to begin with. We want every vote to count, we want it to count for the person it was cast for, and we don’t want to be told we have to vote for BO.
If we don’t want to be told who to vote for, then we are defeating our very purpose, by telling people they must vote for McCain.
I personally feel that voting for McCain is the best way to make sure BO is not the next President, but I will not attack someone who thinks differently.
My big thing is that I hope everyone will vote for someone. I can not understand sitting home and letting someone else decide my future. I will always vote for someone.
One other thing I want to say;
Every time we see a newspaper article where we are being accused of doing something like vandalizing cars, we all need to write a “Letter to the Editor” of that paper explaining why that is a ridiculous assumption.

#257 headoverhills on 06.29.08 at 3:11 pm

#203 Cosmeta – Unfortuntely, the courts have already ruled on these issues and it is the courts who have given the parties the power they now enjoy. Contemporary courts have wrestled with all of the issues that concern you – such as vote counting, political patronage, primary procedures, and campaign financing. Recent pronouncements from the Court suggest that the parties have a special, even privileged, role within the American system of governmental institutions. For example, we are told by Justice Kennedy in the case of Colorado Federal Election Campaign Committee v. FEC
(concurring and dissenting), that the political parties are part of a “constitutional tradition.” In another example, California Democratic Party v. Jones, the Court’s decision offers the political process
preferences of political parties protection from state regulation. In this case, the majority opinion holds that a party’s right to not associate trumps the State’s efforts to make elections more democratic
and more representative. In other words, both political parties have been given wide berth and near autonomy in deciding the logistics of primary elections. This stuff has been litigated and legislated and that is why I strongly encourage people to run for their county central committee so that you can become a part of the organization that makes these determinations. The DNC (or the RNC for that matter) will never take their marching orders from outsiders. We can only change the primary rules by infiltrating the party apparatus and working on the rules committees.

Susie1945 – thanks! for someone who is leaving, i’m sure taking the slow boat. just wanted to make the comment that I KNOW there are a lot of warm, witty and wonderful PUMA here. I don’t think people recognize the nastiness until they are on the receiving end of it – so everything feels warm and fuzzy until you happen to take a position in opposition to others. It’s kinda like the Consitution’s protection of speech. That protection isn’t as useful to those folk who are in the majority… they don’t need that protection nearly as much as those whose opinions may run counter to the popular or majority opinion. Most of us skim over posts that don’t interest us so we may not follow or even notice when someone is being picked on. But it does happen, especially over McCain. I do remember feeling so relieved one night that you were there to soften some of the blows. I am grateful.

#261 headoverhills on 06.29.08 at 3:30 pm

#242 – NO, but gee whiz, it is starting to sound like a friendlier alternative.

#250 – Never felt maneuvered. Just attacked. Like yesterday when I said I took Hillary’s words to heart and was reconsidering my decision not to vote — I was accused of being a BO supporter. Every single time I criticize Master McCain someone counters with “you must be a BO supporter or plant.” Happens every single time. I mistakenly thought this was a site for Hillary supporters — not a John McCain for President site. My bad!

Democratic Disenfranchisement: The Final Report
The Final Report: Democratic Disenfranchisement

“In previous posts we have written about major discrepancies within the Democratic Primary System, from voter fraud to Caucus misunderstanding and manipulation to the more despicable inequality in the proportional delegation system.

In most Democratic primaries the vote has not been close enough for anyone to question whether the system was fair; but this primary process has been different. For years the Democratic Leadership has decried the Republican Party, accusing the party of voter manipulation, intimidation, and disenfranchisement; but those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. For those few who take the time to research how the Democratic Primary process actually awards delegate, they find massive voter disenfranchisement. The system has become corrupted by the DNC and State Party leaderships who adopted reforms aimed at allowing party leadership a greater say in who becomes the nominee.

So the question that has formed in recent weeks is this: How is it that Hillary Clinton could win the national popular vote (depending on whether you include caucus turnout ESTIMATES); win the popular vote in 30 more congressional districts than Obama; and yet lose the pledged delegate count by over 130 delegates?”

I understand the paranoia, but this was on the up and up!! :) Many “regulars” posted the success of the flowers being delivered.

#272 Henerietta on 06.29.08 at 6:28 pm

Obama and his supporters/PR people are master manipulators. I am certain they are the ones responsible for the vandalism in Florida.

They had a group of ‘volunters’ in all 50 states that were on the lookout for phrases in Clinton material that could be taken out of context and called racist. SC was the target, and they already had it planned to find something to call her racist about in the MLK commemorations. It would not have mattered what she said or did, they already had it planned to call her a racist with the slightest reason.

Some members of black churches were intimidated if they had Hillary stickers on their cars. I know one person who is afraid for her family because she is a Hillary supporter

Then there was the violence/intimidation/bussing in of outside voters in the caucuses. There were also irregularities in the set up of the voting machines in Lake County (Gary area) Indiana, where in excess of 10,000 votes more than there were voters registered were cast in a heavy inner city area. None of these things were ever investigated or reported in the MSM, but all of the volunteers for Hillary have heard first hand accounts, or have experienced these things first hand ourselves.

The moral of this story is that they (Obamaites) will stop at nothing to have it their way. They are a cancer to the Democratic party and are destroying it from within. There is nothing right or honorable about them. Their only purpose is to win the election by any means necessary.

We the People are fighting back. PUMA and others like us are the only thing standing in their way. We must not fail, or next they will be in the White House, with more power to do whatever they please.

No matter what is said about us, we must continue. The intimidation has started. We know who is responsible. We must not allow them to make us back down.

To the blogger that believed that they had to protest by voting for McCain. PUMA certainly doesn’t require that anyone who supports PUMA must vote for McCain! But I would think that most of us do support some sort of a PROTEST VOTE! If anyone actually blogs and insists that you MUST vote for McCain, I’d be a little suspicious of their motives – they may have more on their mind then protesting!!! If they want to vote for McCain … have at it! But there are plenty of other alternatives to getting your protest vote counted! I want my protest vote to mean something to me, too! Not just proving a point to the cowardly, spineless DNC.

Hello all,
Oh my–I have really fallen behind reading all the posts…! It’s a bit daunting to try to catch up on them all!:-(

I know everyone involved at PUMA & JSND are overworked; but, I wonder if it might be possible to have some sort of ‘executive summary’ at the top of the site for each day–bullet points or such, listing all the main new developments/plans/vital info, etc;-S –that developed, were resolved &/or are still under discussion from the previous day/night.

I don’t mean to sound ungrateful nor is this a complaint–merely a suggestion that will add to our response speed & thus, effectiveness.

I always try to read all the posts, BUT I also want to be the best informed, effective, successful HRC advocate & activist, by doing whatever I can accomplish(act!) in the times I can spare!:o) I want to channel all my frustrated energy & meager resources to the most impactful acts I can do.

Just submitting this suggestion in the interest of doing everything in any way to our success before August Convention, and HRC as Pres in Nov. 2008!:-D

Thank you all!
