Unity?

What a farce. Rude, crude, and totally unacceptable Senator Obama. Sitting while she speaks? Droning your repetitious (and BORing!) stump speech on what you claim is a historic day? Using your own daughters to condescend to American women?

Did you all hear the comment made on FOX, before the speech, saying that if they wanted to try to unite the party, why not have the speech in a place like WV or KY where Hillary won big. It was then said that BHO didn’t want to do that. So, does that sill sound like BHO wanting to diss us voters in WV and KY?? I believe so!! We see NHO for the snake that he is!!

#41 Firebelle Puma on 06.27.08 at 2:31 pm

Dear Pumas,

I know this is long, and I’ve posted many of these thoughts before. However, here’s the letter I just emailed to Hillary (with copies to Dean, Pelosi, Brazile, and Obama). Enjoy …

*******************

Dear Hillary,

You are a woman of amazing strength and grace to join with Senator Obama and speak on his behalf. However, there’s nothing you could say that would make me vote for him.

Once upon a time, I would have voted for Senator Obama if you had asked me to. Not anymore. Not after what I’ve seen in the last few months. Instead, I join with other PUMA PAC members in actively working to defeat Senator Obama.

Each Puma has different reasons for voting against him. Many will do so in protest for the way you were treated during the primaries. Many will do so in protest for the disenfranchisement and for the unconscionable way in which the DNC conducted itself. All will do so because we don’t believe that Senator Obama is right for our country.

In the interest of keeping my email brief, I will cite only my top two reasons. Understand, however, that there are many more.

My feelings about Senator Obama changed dramatically when the Reverend Wright story broke. I don’t believe that Senator Obama could spend 20 years in that church without embracing the hateful, poisonous attitudes of Reverend Wright. Those same hateful, poisonous attitudes dominate the blog posts from Obama supporters. When I see the hatred and violence that Senator Obama inspires in his followers, I can only conclude that an Obama presidency would be dangerous for our nation and the world. No matter what you say to praise your former rival, I see him as a very evil man.

Beyond that, I’m turned off by Senator Obama’s increasingly dismissive attitude. Refusing to do additional debates with you when voters still wanted to hear debates was dismissive of you and voters everywhere. Refusing to insist that Florida and Michigan delegates be seated in full was dismissive, not only to voters in those two states, but to voters everywhere. Refusing to accept John McCain’s invitation for weekly town hall meetings is dismissive. Voters want to hear those debates, and we’re entitled to them. Even Senator Obama’s refusal to accompany John McCain to Iraq to see conditions firsthand is dismissive.

What this says to me is that a President Obama will be dismissive of everyone and everything that doesn’t serve his immediate interests. That’s unacceptable. We’ve had that from President Bush for the last eight years. I don’t want it anymore.

I want to expand on the issue of weekly town hall meetings with John McCain, because for me it’s a very telling one. How many times during the primary season did Senator Obama say, “I welcome that debate with John McCain”? So why does he now do everything possible to avoid the weekly town hall meetings Senator McCain keeps asking for?

Here’s what Senator Obama’s actions say to me:

• Senator Obama is not a man of his word.

• Senator Obama does not respect voters who very much want to hear both candidates discuss the issues. Nor does he respect leaders in other countries who also want to hear both candidates discuss the issues.

• Senator Obama is not a man who can or will reach across the aisle as he has repeatedly promised to do. If he intended to reach across the aisle, he’d be doing it now every chance he could.

• Senator Obama is afraid that Senator McCain will expose the lack of substance behind his rhetoric.

• Senator Obama isn’t confident enough about the issues to speak without a teleprompter or the scripted words of his speech writers.

• Senator Obama doesn’t believe in transparency in government.

• If Senator Obama were to become President, he would repeatedly shy away from difficult discussions and uncomfortable topics. So, too, would he avoid talking with other world leaders unless they fall in line behind everything Senator Obama says.

You, dear Hillary, would never shy away from an invitation to do these weekly debates with Senator McCain, because you are a woman substance and good character. Senator Obama will never measure up to you, no matter how long he remains in politics.

On policy issues, I’m more closely aligned with Democrats than I am with Republicans. But I cannot in good conscience vote for a man of such bad character. If you are not our nominee, I will vote for John McCain in November. It’s not a happy choice, but it’s the only appropriate one.

#38 Taffy… it is no accident that they picked an evenly distributed delegate state to do this.

They did not want to risk the first “Unity” appearance in a larger metropolitan area with a potentially lower turn-out and much more “radical” voices in opposition of the disinfranchisement issues.

They are playing it safe for the moment and that is because Voter dissatification if higher than the media and DNPs pundits are acknowledging.

This may be the first time I have posted here. But have been lurking for a while.
First, thank you, Murphy, for having the passion to develop and host this sight. After being a Marshan, I needed a new home.
I have been a lifelong Democrat since I worked for and voted for McGovern.
I have now left the party, and will be voting for McCain.

I will never vote for Obama. I cannot be cajoled, coerced, intimidated, shamed, flattered, bought or in any other context, forced to give him my vote.

I pray that a miracle happens and Hillary becomes the nominee, but barring that, I will work for McCain, and wait for Hillary in 2012.

Just saw this on TMZ. Too funny!

Obama to Scarlett — It’s Not Me, It’s You
Posted Jun 26th 2008 3:10PM by TMZ Staff

Scarlett Johanssen loves Barack Obama — like, moony and gushy loves Obama. But — like her singing talent — it’s all in her head, apparently.

Johansson has been telling anyone who would listen that she has a furious email and phone relationship with the Democratic nominee and even that she’s “engaged” to him. (That’s probably news to Ryan Reynolds.) But as the National Review reports, Barack just revealed that he’s only gotten one email Scarlett — and it came through his assistant.

“I write saying, ‘thank you Scarlett for doing what you do,’ and suddenly we have this email relationship,” said Obama.

I believe Hillary was out of body. Her sightline was “up and over”. She was composed in her body language, ie beauty queen smile, and clasped hands. I attended a small gathering of lawyers shortly after the “M Story” broke and she was exactly the same. This is disciplined composure.

I think the only way to rescue her from this humiliation is to thumb our nose at Obama’s money machine and pay off that debt. The faster we do it, the more dismissive Hillary supporters can be of Obama.

I truly believe the SD will abandon him like moldy bread if we give them an out. Most have got to know he is a disaster in the making

#86 go_Ohio_Lady on 06.27.08 at 2:45 pm

#88 Your northern neighbour on 06.27.08 at 2:46 pm

I was looking for some sort of apologies from Obama to Hillary but he proved that he was not man enough to so. It is just not in his character at all. It was so shameful that he kept repeating Hillary’s ideas on stage in order to link himself to her, and that has been how he claimed to have similar policy as Hillary all along.
We need to bring democracy back into the party and to hold DNC accountable for what it has done.
Country before Party, No Obama.

I agree with #44 alohapuma that Hillary still can be the nominee, but we have to do our part smartly.

Feeling help unite people, there is much work being done by this group, and the workload will increase. There is nothing wrong with focusing on feelings after watching that circus. And we have more than legal issues to work with, we have SD’s who have not yet committed, we have SD’s who have committed to Hillary.

We have the head people of this PUMA Pac dedicated to ensuring the Democratic party takes note of the actions members here are doing.

How do you recommend we go after the birth certificate, other than what is already being done. Its not an easy feat if reporters can’t even get it.

#95 shazam4hillary on 06.27.08 at 2:48 pm

Regarding #45 alohapuma, I agree Hillary can still be nominated. That’s what this movement is all about for me (and even if she isn’t nominated, I have to follow through and protest the vote or risk another movement like this in the future not being taken seriously — and I don’t want my vote to be a lie). In any case, there’s a lot of time between now and the convention, a lot can happen and the superdelegates may realize it’d really be better to nominate the better candidate (the rest of the delegates need to follow the rules, or rules mean nothing).

I take it that recent posts are “upstairs.” I left a post “downstairs” apparently at the same time Murphy opened up a new “upstairs” here. I don’t want to repeat everything I said, but if you have a moment, go back toward the end for my comment on two matters: LGBT/Human Rights Campaigh Fund and being positive.

My take on this event is that after putting them up there side by side, speaking one after the other, sheeesh, if there is any doubt left in anyone’s mind, she is clearly the truly presidential one….(hello america! wake up!)

…and holy smokes, I could also see the panic in BO’s eyes while Hillary was speaking, as if he were thinking to himself, “Geez I am up sh** creek without a paddle. I need her more than I realized.”

That was the body language I saw. Hers was all about her well-earned power, natural confidence, and the pure joy of knowing who she really is….his was nowhere near that category.

If we don’t have a Hail Mary Hillary Miracle in Denver, then BO would be crazy not to put her on the ticket.

Murphy, I support Clinton because of my faith in our Constitution. I don’t care for her politics anymore than I care about McCain’s. I am anti-partisan.

While PUMA seeks to unite the Democratic Party, I seek to unite our COUNTRY. While our Constitution is under attack from BOTH parties, we will not be united.

I support PUMA in your support of Clinton and PUMA’s stance against the DNC. If there were a Republican version of PUMA, I would support them as well.

I am here to defend our Constitution. :)

#45 yes I agree. It is NOT over! There are still some things in the works. She WILL be at the convention. We just need to get that debt paid. There are a lot of things happening behind the scenes, and some very big fundraisers, and influential people still working very hard for her. do not give up….the more he is out there, the more foolish he looks. If you really look at this…it is he who needs Hillary and us…this would not be happening if it weren’t so. He would not be giving her the time of day….
Just brush your shoulders off…stamp that devil under your feet…and let’s get back to work for Hillary.

Many people ARE focused on the legal issues, as you’ll readily see if you go back through previous threads. However, lots of folks need to vent this morning in response to the speech in Unity.

Having said that, however, I personally believe that the issues you raised (Obama’s birth certificate and the disenfranchisement in Florida and Michigan) are dead issues. The DNC has repeatedly shown that it doesn’t care about these things. And our government will always find ways to get around these legal “inconveniences.”

I believe we need to move forward and find other avenues of attack. That’s why I keep pushing the debate issue. I may be wrong, but I think the most effective approach will be to keep showing how weak Obama is against McCain … and to do it strong and hard before the Denver convention. We don’t really want McCain as our President. But we can’t have Hillary as an option unless Obama self-destructs in the next two months.

#112 go_Ohio_Lady on 06.27.08 at 2:54 pm

I still hold out hope that she will be our nominee. The Denver Group is working towards it. They are part of Hillary’s large donor group. I also think the way things are going for BHO – the superdelegates may determine it is in their best interest to follow the will of the people.

BHO is going downhill fast.

It doesn’t matter if the DNC wishes to bury those issues. Of course, they want them to go away because they know the DNC violated the Constitutional rights of voters in Florida and Michigan.

The more you surrender, then more they will take. As I have expressed here — http://kempion.blogspot.com/2008/06/do-you-remember-2008.html

We’ve seen our 4th and 5th Amendments destroyed by DHS. Now, the DNC is going to get away with shredding our 15th Amendment. This is crazy.

Kempion,

I agree the legal issues (the nuts and bolts) will win the day. HOWEVER, we need to be fueled by emotion as well.

For me, believing Hillary can still be the nominee and President, is what keeps me going right now. It’s not resentment about what *61 did or didn’t do, or the believe that he is basically a con man.

*61 will eventually self-destruct and I have to believe the clearer minds in the party know that by now! Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean are not the clearer minds in the party.

This is just speculation, but I suspect they recruited *61 to run to build the party base again. You have to admit it was tempting given his “star power”. I think they had no idea that kind of money could be raised using Internet marketing techniques. ITS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE!

Now they have this unveiled guy who is showing himself, who they probably can not control if he gets in the White House.

I know a couple of Super’s personally. They have held for Hillary, but it’s not easy. Those who have switched to *61 did so because they are petrified by the numbers *61 brings to the table. Remember, their own re-election prospect come first.

I think many of these SD’s need an out and right now they don’t have one.

Most of what I just said is speculation…btw…

*61 is for banning all guns in America . At a recent rural elementary school assembly in EastTexas, he asked the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands once every few seconds, holding the audience in total silence.

Then, little Richard Earl, with a proud East Texas drawl, pierced the quiet and said: ”Well, dumb-a**, stop clapping!’

Donna Brazile sent me this brief canned response to the email I sent this morning to Hillary (with copies to Brazile, Dean, Pelosi and Obama) …

***

Stop the hate and do not send more emails to me. Go find your joy and stop disrespecting Hillary Clinton.

If you want McCain, send him your rantings. I have moved on and it’s time you send your angry notes to someone else.

***********

Here’s my response to Donna (with copies to Dean, Pelosi, Obama, and our beloved Hillary) …

***

Dear Ms. Brazile,

I wouldn’t be sending emails to you if I didn’t respect your position as a superdelegate. Despite what I believe is your misguided support of Senator Obama, I’d like to believe that you care about our country and our future. I’d like to believe that you’ll exercise good judgment and cast your vote for Hillary Clinton at the convention in Denver.

I often do send copies of my emails to Senator McCain, as per your suggestion. I sincerely hope he’ll use my talking points.

As for your suggestion to “stop the hate,” the hate isn’t coming from me or my PUMA family. We love this country too much to see it in the hands of a man who spent 20 years embracing the hateful, poisonous rhetoric of Reverend Wright. We love this country too much to see it in the hands of a man who inspires such vile behavior in his followers. Again, I seriously considered voting for Barack Obama months ago. But the more I see of him, the more I dislike, distrust, and fear him.

Even my staunch Republican friends, who have gained increasing respect for Hillary Clinton during the primary season, have begun describing Senator Obama as “scary.” They didn’t feel that way last January. This is new. This is something they’re seeing in light of the Reverend Wright story and the hateful blog postings of Obama’s supporters.

If you keep tuning us out and don’t heed our words, the Democrats will go down in defeat in November. I have a feeling that the DNC cares more about winning than it does about crowning Obama. If you want to win, the way to do it is with Hillary.

Thank you for your consideration.

Alohapuma, I agree. I believe Hillary would not be doing this unless she had something up her sleeve. She would not allow herself to be publicly humiliated by supporting BO, unless there was a damn good reason for it. Uniting the party is not the reason.

She knows full well this SOB will be putting his foot in his mouth one too many times. He has also been burning bridges without constructing new ones. He has no where to go but down.

I hear when Hillary introduced BO to her financial supporters last night, they were less than impressed. When asked about the blatant sexism that Hillary was hurt by, he stated well others have also been hurt. That was his chance to take a stand for women, for Hillary and he did not!

I have to believe that BO will self-implode and Hillary will be our nominee! I don’t believe that BO can win and I don’t believe the DNC thinks he can either.

I will vote Republican for the first time in 34 years. My party has given me no choice, if Hillary isn’t our nominee. I will vote for the American people and not allow BO anywhere near the White House!

One Love

Furthermore, Hillary has the right to have a roll call at the convention. Many candidates before her went to the convention with far less delegates.

As to the Clinton supporters that are for McCain, I am a PUMA, one of many pro-Hillary supporters all over America. I will not ever vote for Obama as I consider him not to be the true nominee. He was “selected” by the DNC Rules Committee who met behind closed doors and allocated delegates to Obama that he did not earn and also gave him 4 of Hillary’s earned delegates. As a member of Congress, you should be alarmed at the hijacking of the democratic process. The party has lost me as I cannot support an unqualified candidate who lies about his associations and also played the race card against the Clintons and then blamed them.

The Unity event today in NH was a farce. The Party is not united and we will not come home until the DNC does the right thing and takes away Obama’s delegates that he did not earn and have a roll call at the convention with Hillary on the first ballot.

Again, I will not support Obama.

.

Unity, NH: It was a repelling combination, like a meal of Chocolate Cake and unsweetened Grapefruit juice! The love just wasn’t there!

Here is a little note from Donna Brazile expressing her prefab opinion of NobamaNetwork.com:

Subject: Unity Across America,

Yes, it hurts to see the party united and it must hurt to see two terrific Americans embracing for change.

Can you send your filth, your hate and your repugnant views to the political party that has spent decades dividing us along similar lines?

Here is where I stand and millions of other Americans who will work hard to support the Democrats this Fall: No more lies, no more smears and no more wars!!!!

No more tax cuts to the wealthy and no more crumbs to struggling middle class families!!!

No more levee breaches and no more government trailers laced with poisons.

Get a grip and find your joy! I have moved on and it’s time you and those you are trying to rally with hate filled lies and more smears find your joy.

I cried all through her speech. The reason was because she is the best leader that this country “could have” had and the DNC and Obamanites let it slip through their fingers. It’s not about who is “best”, but who is most popular. That’s high school politics at its worst.

#208 hillfan4mccain on 06.27.08 at 3:34 pm

I’m sorry to say this but I dont think paying down Hillary’s debt is going to make “our” point. Can we come up with 20mil even 10mil? She is doing her job. If ‘we the people’ pay down her debt then what? Will she be free? I am not convinced. She is still part of the Dem. party. Debt or not 18mil votes should count for something. My God this is the Clintons, the most powerful couple in the party. And they still pushed her aside. I think paying down her debt is a nice idea, but not productive. We are not heavy hitters, if we were we would have been at the Mayflower yesterday.
We DO need to make a stand today with something. $5.00 to McCain? A crap load of stuffed pumas sent to HER office? I dont know what. BUT SHE also needs to know WE ARE NOT BUYING IT.
I love Hillary and I want her in this time but we need to let them know soon that we are not that easy. And our purpose here is larger.

How hypocritical “Stop the Hate”… Yes, Ms. Brazile, we do believe that BHO, you and the DNC are doing more damage to both women’s rights and the progress our country has made in the last 20 years over racial issues, not to mention the public’s view of a tainted political process.

Why does she believe that a “black” selectee is more important history-making than would be the woman she has long “admired so much”, used for her own political aspirations, and would hands-down profess as the most qualified candidate, if it were not for BHO jumping in the race as an opportunist against a female candidate!

As a former Edwards voter turned Hillary supporter, I want you to know that more than 18 million people supported Hillary, 18million who voted for her plus 3 votes from my houshold. We will not accept NOBAMA! UNITY my foot! America still believes in doing the right thing. We don’t “select we elect nominees”. We will vote for McCain to make it hard for Obama if the DNC doesn’t make things right. For every vote McCain gets, Obama will need 2 more. – have to pick up my son it’s thundering in New Hampshire. Hello Everyone …
Before we start donating to Senator McCain’s Campaign, we desperately need to pay down Senator Clinton’s Campaign Debt … to position her, just in case that miracle comes along … so please don’t go off the bridge just because there was a rally today. Senator Clinton is being a team player with professionalism, grace, style, and keeping us in mind always. I’m not saying (so don’t take this message out of context) that I would vote for Senator Obama … I will not, but if you have the $$$’s to donate, please bring down the debt for Senator Clinton’s Campaign to give a good position at the August 25th Convention … should the opening occur, and to PUMA.
Remember, Senator Edwards also suspended his campaign and could move … in a minute.
GO TO HILLARY CLINTON.COM donate to bring down her debt. Everyone I’ve talked to at her Campaign Office confirms that all $$$’s donated go to her Campaign.
Thanks for listening!

(#44) alohapuma:

No, Hillary won’t get the nomination as things stand now.

She was once my hope; she is no more. Why? Because, as I have found, she is for the principle of party first, not power to the people.

Your hopes and mine as PUMAs should now be focused on roaring at the DNC, that we are about to pounce on them for turning full votes into halfs and stealing others for Obama. AND for them giving abated importance to the popular vote.

The current DNC leadership has skewed the meaning of democracy (a system in which people rule) and needs to be dealt with before they can get away with their acts of oligarchy (rule by a few members of the elite, who generally benefit themselves).

Think restoration to democracy, okay? That’s what PUMA is mainly all about, not Hillary Clinton (I hope I have that right, Murphy).

I have been posting on several sites since December and I have watched as these supporters have disrespected Hillary and her supporters. I have taken screen shots from that BHO blog site and watched as the hateful bile spewed accross the screen, then I would look at the HRC site and see, uplifting, gracious spirited conversations.

This is what really “Turned me on” to Hillary (yes I am a man, and not in that way :) )

This country needs not only the most quallified person (HRC) but this woman and the uplifting support from these great women that have been behind her since day one!

BHO is desperate, his words are empty rhetoric and he does not care for anyone but himself, just like his followers.

Do not give them the satisfaction, just look at the blogs and you will see how they really feel about us!

#227 alohapuma on 06.27.08 at 3:45 pm

hillfan4mccain,

Everything you say is true…especially that 18 million votes and winning the popular vote should count for something. It should mean everything.

I also believe we have to be pragmantic about what needs to be done here. If Hillary’s supporters do not pay this debt off, then this issue will haunt her and discredit her for the rest of her political career.

We are not heavy hitters, most of us. The thing is in the Internet age, we don’t have to be heavy hitters individually to influence a large result. BO is charming (for awhile) and give a rousing speech (better the first time) but his ability to harnass the power of the Internet to generate money and influence public opinion is why he is where he is.

In someways we are practicing “old school resistence” which is also extremely important, but I don’t think that’s going to win the day without incorporating what I’ve described above.

Please understand I mean no offense. Our pupose in the larger context is to protect our democracy. You are absolutely right.

I just think we can not loose sight of the nuts and bolts and realities of politics.

Bill shuns Oprah.

BILL Clinton gave the cold shoulder to Barack Obama’s biggest supporter, Oprah Winfrey, at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday in London. A source at the dinner in Hyde Park, catered by Gordon Ramsay, told us, “There was a very cold reception between them.” When Winfrey went over to Mandela’s table, where Clinton was seated, “Oprah and Bill, who used to be very close, barely acknowledged one another,” the source said

#298 I also agree we should not have to pay down her debt. We are not wealthy and that is a lot of $$. We need to spend our dollars towards ads and commercials against Obama. Also, at hcsfjm, that group is not focusing on paying off her debt as they are doing their best to get enough money to run the Chicago Sun Times Ad. If we can’t even get enough for an ad, how can we continue to give our hard earned money to Hillary. Once this is over, the Clintons will still be rich. Patti Solis Doyle, who defected to Obama, screwed up her campaign money. Also, have you read that Hillary’s campaign was sabatouged not only from without, but from within. I, too, do not think she will be supported at the Convention unless *61 implodes. It’s the only thing we can hope for as they are all drinking the kool-aid.

I went back to read the PUMA goals because I wasn’t sure I remembered them correctly. I think we are stll support Hillary.

1. To support the candidacy of Hillary Clinton. Updated 6/7/08 — Hillary Clinton was forced to suspend her campaign because the DNC decided to select its preferred nominee, so we are not directly campaigning for her. We consider her to be the leader of the Democratic party and our members will continue to support her throughout this election cycle.

#249 firechief on 06.27.08 at 3:58 pm

Food for Thought:

If any of you are attending democratic fundraisers around your area (i have been, for my local candidates) you are no doubt always surrounded by the kool aid drinkers. Please be sure to mention to the crowd that there is still a deep divide in the party, that many people are considering not voting in November or will not be voting for Dems, and that the Obama folks need to wake up and realize ALL the Dem candidates down-ballot may go down in flames if the party doesn’t recognize the need to truly face what has happened here.

I still support many of my state and local Dem candidates. Personally I’d hate to see these worthy candidates lose because of what the DNC and MSM did with Hillary’s campaign, and how that turned off so many of us (to put it mildly).

So please, remind them this is NOT in the bag just because they see BO as a winner and they think we’ll all jump on board at the last minute. They will have to work hard to get out the vote, and convince even those who won’t vote for Prez to at least vote for other worthy candidates in other races.

I spoke up in that way at an event the other night — in a cordial, not in a divisive or mean manner — but to let them know “how the other half lives.” They are so surrounded by their own kind, they really can’t conceive of how others are looking at this whole election.

#253 shazam4hillary on 06.27.08 at 4:02 pm

Aout old school resistance (see #227 alohapuma), I think one way this is particularly true is in sending things to Washington DC via us postal mail. My congressperson, DeGette, said, in a talk about maybe 1.5 years ago, that it’s a really bad idea to write to Washington DC via snail mail because there are huge backlogs of mail going through the many security screenings mail goes through since the scares of ‘01. She illustrated the point that in August a Christmas card from a friend finally reached her. Assuming these security measures are still in place (probably are), the backlogs are even worse these days. If the flipflops and the bandaids and thank yous and other postal messages are going to DC, they won’t arrive until after the election. What a waste.

And just an idea for attending appearances (say, by either Clinton) where Obama’s name is mentioned: chant O BOOOOOOOO Ma, O BOOOOOOOOO Ma.. On hillbuzz (a blog), there was a report that the obama people chant Obama like the Wizard Of Oz little people change O WEEE O, that it’s spooky. A group saying O BOOOOOO Ma is going to sound like BOOs.

I watched the CNN streaming live out of morbid curiosity. She gave a wonderful speech, but I was sad to hear it. I saw no PUMAs. Only people allowed to be seen had the “right” signs up. Saw some people wearing black though.

#258 Goninasimonejr on 06.27.08 at 4:04 pm

#208 I think you are right about doing something more constructive than helping Hillary retire her debt. (I did donate money to her website for that too, though.) It seems to me that if our goal is to defeat Obama, we’d better start supporting McCain financially.

About the Puma Pac fundraising campaign. First off, I will be a very small donor– no current income, gave way too much to Hillary, blah blah blah. But I will give something if I agree with the purpose. I was bothered by one of the two proposed ads we saw last week (the one people called “scary” with the white figure turning black) and don’t want to give money for that one. The first one was kind of dull too (about BO taking lobbyist money).

I say we go all the way with Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger, Rezko and Bill Ayres – BO the typical Chicago pol, not the messiah. Bigticer on Youtube has pointed the way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdQcwtshh3w

I am getting very concerned that McCain is too gentlemanly to make those points and it is up to 527s like us to do it. Or maybe a punchy comparison of McCain’s character to Obama’s. Or maybe something funny about president Flip Flop. We need to get tough. Nobody cares about lobbyists.

On another note, I think we should do a Dump Brazille campaign to CNN. I am appalled that she passed herself off as “neutral” throughout the primaries and her recent messages to Hillary supporters, while the Party is talking “unity,” are *outrageous* coming from a representative of CNN.

Thumps up to Bill Clinton. Him and his wife really have taken enough. In fact he is acting like a true Puma. We will get over the insults when the obamabots find a way to apologize for the name calling and insults against the Clintons in particular and women in general.
(playing the race card against Bill Clinton was so nauseating). Now the medias keep asking(more theoratical) why Bill Clinton is not trumpetting is support for OB. Are they just so stupid, bunch of mediatic leaches.?

#265 KarlaforHillary on 06.27.08 at 4:07 pm

What is wrong everyone? Hillary has asked us to help pay down her debt. She is not asking for the 11 million that she and Bill had to loan her campaign. She is asking for the rest. Isn’t that the least we can do? This woman gets up every day of her life and fights her best fight for us and this country. I know we are not rich, but this is the least we can do. I can only donate $5 to $10 at a time, but it is something.

We sure do not want Hillary going to the convention in debt. She will be the laughing stock if she does not get this debt paid off. It doesn’t really matter if someone in her campaign messed up her finances, the point is that the debt exists and needs to be paid. She has asked us to help her pay it. That is enough for me. I will help do that for her to the best of my ability.

I sure hope to God that you all do too after everything that her and Bill have done and are still doing for us and our country.

I would like to ask a question without getting jumped on. And I also want to state before anyone calls me a troll that I have supported Senator Obama since 2004 and arranged informational meeting for him in California

My question is why is it in the last few days that if anyone has a different opinion regarding the Clintons that they are made to feel bad.

Now I realize we all have to move on in order to unify the Democratic Party but this use to be a blog of respected opinions and information.
We may not have agreed with one another but it was done with respect.

Just a question and I do support Obama 150%.

What a difference in the two speeches! Hillary’s was warm and articulate. BO’s was slow, strained and out right boring. I still am trying to figure out where his fake southern accent comes from. Probably ordered from the same place as GW’s Texas one. Too many “gonna..duh…um…uh”’s His shouting at the end seemed to be there to wake everyone up. I think he has been to a pep rally or two in order to practice. He seemed very unprepared and was taken aback by all of the chants for Hillary. Not what he is used to I am sure.
I think she one upped him on this one even though she was trying(kind of blandly) to push his tainted campaign forward.
She did what she had to do and I hope she can make an exit from campaigning for him.
I can’t wait for the MSM spin. I am sure they saw something different than I saw!

#272 zombiefortruth on 06.27.08 at 4:09 pm

PUMA’s

We should band together,it is a good thing that there are so many Anti BHO/DNC sites but the one thing is that we do not have an accurate count of supporters at this point or a single point of contact.

We are fighting a political machine in washington right now that “OWNS” washington, the Media and has an unlimited source of funds!

If we do not “Band” together in some way and get the message out to the people that we are for real, then we will never “really” get this ball rolling like we should.

Remember there are 330 million people in the USA, I figure right now we have a solid 3 million+ behind us, but if we can grow that number 5X then we will be bigger than the BHO hype itself!

I dread the though that BHO may actually win this election, I fear for this countries safty and stability going into the future.

Please, do everything in your power to recruite support, not support just for Hillary, but support that if we continue to let this corrupt election process continue.

I cannot believe the “FACT” that this election stinks to high heaven of treason yet the MSM is getting away with dismissing these “FACTS” as “bitter Hillary supporters” that will some how “get over it”!

This is much bigger than Hillary and this election. We must hold the DNC’s feet to the fire. They selected BHO, and in my personal opinion, there is no Democratic or Republican parties, it is all really just a bunch of DC Elite that have enough money to manipulate the MSM.

Perception is key in this day and age, we have all been guilty at some level of lazyness. We need to inform the SHEEPLE out there that the RNC and DNC cannot continue corrupting elections as they have for the past 8 years!

Please Tell a friend (rep, ind or dem) about PUMA and what we are really fighting for

FAIR ELECTIONS!

I can’t give you an answer but I can say that I’m appalled at how the Thought Police have invaded this blog in the past few weeks.

I’ve been posting here since April of 2007 and–suddenly–I see people being ridiculed for expressing doubts, for not cheering “rah rah team” incessantly, for pointing out areas of concern re: Obama’s positions and actions, for, in general, being sentient, rational human beings rather than robo-supporters.

It’s disappointing.

Well you put it out there in a much clearer fashion. There must be some savvy Internet marketers among us who could design a campaign that would attract a lot of small donations.

A lot of small donations sends a VERRRYYY powerful message. It’s the one*61 sent that got them listening.

Help Hill pay off debt –
1) $2 from each of the 18 million will be $36 million. How to get the mesage thru, how to collect?
2) Thought her most active donors base was about 300,000. Each donates $100 would help her pay off too. How to get the message thru?

#292 diva2 on 06.27.08 at 4:15 pm

Watch Fox right night, they apparently are going to be interviewing someone who attended the unity rally and is NOT united with noname. Hope it is one of us!! Dick Morris will also be on — I just ignore him.

#227 alohapuma This is my thought. As long as Senator Clinton has the debt hanging over her head (I am just talking about the 10million or so that was not hers) then her hands are tied. She HAS to do what he wants to do. Her hands are tied because of the fed regulations on contibutions. If we, et al can pay off her debt, then it gives her alot more flexibility and independence.

What we need are the big donors to help find people who will match our donations and/or find people to give the maximum. They know how to find money, we don’t. We don’t have large resources but we do have some. Also, as many of you have suggested if we get a certain number of people to donate even a small amount of money, collectively, it could add up to alot. For example, if everyone who is a member of all the other grassroot organizations for Senator Clinton and everyone from other pro-Hillary groups like NOW to donate we certainly could put a dent in her debt.

The difficulty is that every group is competing for $$ but even if everyone split the difference i.e. $25 for PUMAs and $25 for Senator Clinton, it would help.
We could set up a separate thread JUST for that and then ask other groups to participate. PLUS it gets other people to visit this site.

Does anyone have other ideas? One other thing… does anyone know if we buy items like tshirts, etc. from Senator Clinton’s website if that counts against our $2300 as a donation or not? Also, any idea what percentage of profit can go toward her campaign on the things we sould buy. People could buy tons of promotional, give them out at shelters, in malls, whatever but we would be helping lower her debt without breaking any contribution regs.

Other thoughts??

Goodness, dear Pumas, I’m not getting any real work done today. Oh well. Hillary needs our support.

Our friend Donna sent me another reply. So I share with you first her email, then my response. Enjoy …

********************

For the record, I have not endorsed anyone. And for the record, I supported, defended both candidates. And for the record, I am no longer willing to entertain hate mail.

If you dislike Obama, move on. But do not expect me to support you.

Have a great weekend.

Donna

PS: just because some asshole decided to post our address does not mean we welcome the level of vile and vicious emails coming from strangers. I spent countless years as a dem activists electing men and women from all different walks of life. But never in my life has any hate mails been sent without warrant.

One thing for sure, the Obama folks normally stop sending when I state get over it. Please be respectful.

I am very passionate as well. And I try to stay calm.

**********************

Dear Ms. Brazile,

I’m sorry this election has been so difficult for you. You’re right. It’s not fair that you and others have been bombarded by hate mail. I wouldn’t like it in your position either.

Unfortunately, it’s a reflection of our political process, which has long been about win-lose, not win-win. Our country could be so great, and we could accomplish so much, if our politicians played win-win.

I would love it if Senator Obama was someone whom I trusted to play win-win. I would vote for him in a heartbeat, because his stated policies are so much closer to my own beliefs than are Senator McCain’s. I was suitably impressed by Senator Obama when I first saw him in a debate last December. I sincerely wished that Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards could go to the White House together.

My respect for Senator Clinton has steadily increased over the last six months. However, in those same six months, Senator Obama has repeatedly behaved in ways that generate dislike and distrust. Where once I respected him, I now find him scary. Where once I listened closely and receptively to what he had to say, I can no longer stand listening to him. I came into this with no preconceived attitudes toward Senator Obama and certainly no racial prejudice. My feelings today are solely based on what I’ve observed in Senator Obama over the last six months.

You may not wish to hear this, but I’ll share a bit of wisdom anyhow. The more you respond to Hillary supporters by saying “Stop the hate,” the more we perceive Senator Obama and the DNC as being standard-bearers for hate. Perhaps it would serve Senator Obama and the DNC better if you responded with concrete reasons why he would be the best President. Not with fear-mongering, by the way. We’re not persuaded by arguments about McCain’s faults. Right now, we see him as the lesser of two evils. Show us instead, if you’re able, why Senator Obama might be a good choice.

Thank you for your consideration.

P.S.: If I can make your day a little easier, I’ll share something I was taught years ago as a basketball referee. I was lamenting to a friend about how the fans booed the refs, no matter how good and fair a job we did. He told me that part of the price of admission when fans bought their tickets was the right to boo the refs. It didn’t make me like being booed any better. But it put it in perspective, and helped me better enjoy the game.

As a superdelegate, you’re kind of like a referee. You may not like being booed, but it’s part of the game. When fans (i.e., voters) buy their tickets (i.e., register to vote), part of the price of admission is the right to boo the refs (i.e., express our dissatisfaction with our elected officials.) You don’t have to enjoy it, but it’s still important feedback about the direction our country is going.

#297 Lorey on 06.27.08 at 4:16 pm

Hillary Rocks Mr. OBama but not because you say it. She shines because she has a light that comes from within that you will never have no matter what you say or do.

You can say or do whatever you want to but nothing will change our minds about you. We don’t like you and never will. We will never be fooled by your empty promises and hollow rhetoric. An our dislike has nothing to do with race.

I’m going to ask this again….

I beleive Hillary can still be the nominee. Does anyone agree?]]

I think it very unlikely. There would have to be something of major import to come to the fore, and just prior to the Convention. Now, I am not talking about an assination or anything like that… but something like Larry Sinclair’s claim that BHO did cocaine just a few years ago and that they were in a homosexual relationship would damage BHO emensely. Then the delegates at the Convention might switch their vote back to her and nominate her. And from what I have gleaned in from the web and YouTube Videos, it is something like that or this Michelle “whitie” statement that just might do it. Either one of those two might be the October surprise, everyone talks about.

Another quote…they arguing over whether this is a test for vp slot. seems they divided about 50-50 on idea

I honestly don’t think Obama will offer Hillary the VP spot. Ted Kennedy gave such an impassioned statement about how Hillary would not be appropriate for Barack’s vice-president. He went on to say that Barack will pick someone who will carry on the noble aspirations for the country that Barack has put forth, or something to that effect.

Since the Kennedy’s handed Barack the mantle of the Kennedy presidential legacy, for all intents and purposes, I really think Barack will choose someone for VP who will further honor that legacy.

In fact, she mentioned voting for him (MC) just a few minutes before, something that is not usually stated by any candidate to state to vote for the opposition.

PUMAS — we CANNOT sit it out in November nor just write in Hillary. Doing that would allow Hussein to win. We need to do everything in our power to prevent this anti-American from taking the White House, and to do that, we will have to VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN. There is no other way to tell the DNC, MSM, and Hussein that what they did in the primaries was unacceptable than to help McCain win.

#313 wontbackdown on 06.27.08 at 4:22 pm

#265 KarlaforHillary…. P.S. Everyone (about paying off her debt:

Do we remember one of the main reasons we are so angry???

Hillary was not only having to fight the MS Media’s lack of coverage – but negative coverage on everything they could throw at her – not only affecting her fundraising (January – “It’s over”) but her ability to get her message out there!

BHO’s camp caused the race-hate filled headlines – not she and Bill!

Now they accuse HER of “mismanaging her campaign funds”.

It was DIRTY, it still is DIRTY. Tha’s why it is the right thing to do to help her pay off the debt – she contributed her money to try and equalize that gross imbalance!

Plus, she was the candidate to the less-affluent that “Brazile” now says she is for… my a_ _s!

#327 diva2 on 06.27.08 at 4:27 pm

Sorry, one more comment. Whenever anyone says something about Senator Clinton’s ability to manage her money, I just recall the $110 million dollars that her and President Clinton made in the past several years and of that the $33 million they gave in taxes!! That is the most ignorant argument I have heard!! Noname only gave the minimum they had to pay in taxes and instead put theri money toward the $10,000 in piano lessons for their daughter!!

Come visit my website forum for a moment and see a thread I put up about BHO’s anti tobacco legislation. I’ve found a couple of online graphics of him smoking up until mid-way through the primaries… Which shows me that he will do anything to win and that what he does is always because of political expediency.

Just take a look and download the graphics.

I think it was gut-wrenching to watch this charade today. But remember, Hillary is smart and strategic and she knows she may have to step in at any time when this clown falls. She is utterly Presidential. And he knows it!!!!! How can he sleep at night?!

BTW, whoever set that stage today blew it…they should have had two chairs up there, not ONE high chair that was obviously too difficult for someone of average height, like Hillary, to get up onto in front of a crowd….

They also should’ve had H2O available to Hill. Hello? Looked hot there. Picky, picky, I know, but I used to do this stuff for a living and so these details make me crazy. Pet peeve.

#344 diva2 on 06.27.08 at 4:34 pm

#324 Pookie This was discussed in depth at Senator Clinton’s website before it was ravaged. EVERY state is different. In some states, IF you write in someone’s name the vote will automatically go to the nominee for that party. You have to call your state and get the specific info. on this. That is why so many people say they will vote for MCCain. Because it then is two votes against noname.
One vote is the one he lost because you didn’t vote for him and the other one is the one you gave to McCain.
It can be VERY risky just writing in someone’s name unless you are absolutely clear how your state handles write-ins. The last thing you want to do is to automatically have a write-in vote go to noname.

I wish I had all the info. we had at the old website. It was very helpful

#345 pumaindy on 06.27.08 at 4:34 pm

Hillary’s debt is a non-issue if it doesn’t exist.

We need to get that done and move on.

#346 Dragonfly on 06.27.08 at 4:35 pm

#348 Taffy on 06.27.08 at 4:35 pm

Another quote to analyze

Yes, they “look” good together. Yes, she “sounded” good today. But she still has too much baggage. She still brings too much to the table that he will have to answer to and she still has very, very high negatives. We must keep our eyes on the ball. Win, win, win. You see how much work he did to bring up his numbers in the polls so far before she publicly supported him. He is bending over backwards just to get that. Can you imagine what he would have to do to keep the peace with her if she was on the ticket. I wonder how much of his support for the FISA amendment is to keep her on his side so far?

I know the feeling, I am too far away I have to do the same and send my support the best way I can.

I was also thinking of the icon itself. Senator Clinton is the New York Senator, and I think that the focus should be more on what democracy, and the Democratic principles mean to us, until the convention.

If BO gets the nomination then and only then is the fight lost, but then people can decide what they want to do.

Just my 2c.

#351 NoMoreInFL on 06.27.08 at 4:36 pm

#329 sandipuma I for one, believes that there is enough for both…Hillary’s debt and PUMA’s growth.

Who we need to ask to give especially to PUMA; are the donors that have supported other PACS. They can only give a certain amount and would love to give.

Fellow PUMA’S, I was just on NoQuarters and there is an interesting article re: Obama being indicted maybe before the convention. Fitzgerald is trying to get a tight case against him. Also, I just saw on another web site I can’t remember which one, but after Obama gave Hillary the check last night MSNBC says that she in turn gave a similar check to him. I don’t know how true this is since I do not ever watch MSNBC.

I’m still not so sure that Clinton(s) would make it through the vetting process. and IF they did, and IF Barack chose Hilary, I’m not so sure that she could do the VP role too well… JMHO, she is an intelligent, powerful lady and is used to being in charge. #360 Firebelle Puma on 06.27.08 at 4:38 pm

Dear Pumas, don’t let anyone get you down when they criticize Hillary’s management of campaign finances.

One, Hillary knows how to “do more with less.” Hillary got far more votes per dollar spent than Obama did. (She also got far more votes per contact made, as measured by attendance at rallies.)

By extension, Obama is fiscally wasteful. He squanders money. (He’ll squander our tax dollars too if he becomes President, because he’s so ineffective.)

Two, as any business person knows, it takes an investment in capital to get any venture off the ground. Sometimes that means going into debt. Were it not for the unfair tactics of Obama and his ilk, Hillary would have emerged the winner and her investment judged wise and sound. She didn’t do anything wrong. It’s the unfair tactics of her opponent that forced a greater investment than would otherwise be necessary.

#361 Pookie on 06.27.08 at 4:39 pm

“According to today’s edition of the Chicago Sun-Times, “Barack Obama’s name could have been invoked more at the corruption trial of his former fund-raiser Tony Rezko.” But prosecutors instead chose to focus on the first target of Fitzgerald’s probe: convicted slumlord and notorious Chicago political fixer Antoin “Tony” Rezko, the man who helped Obama purchase his Kenwood mansion in 2005.”

Frankly, I don’t know why there are comments on here today about NOT helping to pay down Hillary’s campaign debt!!! and, yes, PUMA’s objectives are to support Senator Clinton’s campaign, to continue to support Senator Clinton!!! Obviously, we want to attack the DNC, Pelosi, Dean, Donna B., etc. Just as obviously, we want to contact as many of the SDs as possible and try to influence them to either continue to vote for Senator Clinton or to examine the facts and switch to Senator Clinton. We want to support Senator Clinton being on the roll call vote that is the tradition of the DC at the convention and see if we can help to get more of the SDs to vote for her.

I, frankly, am sick of hearing about the “birth certificate”. I just don’t see how anything can be proven about that; and if it can be proven, then hopefully somebody who knows a lot more about how to do that is working hard on it right now. I believe that my time and power is best served by writing daily to each and every person I can think of to continue to support Senator Clinton, NOT to vote for Nobama.. to vote for McCain if Nobama does turn out to be the nominee of the DC.

Until the convention has come and gone, I will continue to believe that it is possible for Hillary Clinton to become the nominee. If each and every one of us works for that, it could happen. I am just as resolved though, if that does not happen, to vote my first vote of my life.. approximately 42 years voting, for a Republican.. John McCain. It makes good sense to me because I have more respect for S. McCain than I could ever think about having for Nobama.

I want Senator Hillary Clinton to be POTUS now. I want HRC to be the nominee of the Democratic Party.. if the Democratic party can find their a** with both hands and do the right thing!!!

But if that does not happen.. I am absolutely, totally, 100% committed to doing everything in my power to elect Senator McCain over Nobama for POTUS.

I have research the accusations about HRC and just like Whitewater they have “ALL” been debunked!

It is the corrupt MSM that has “painted” this “bogus” picture of the CLintons over the past 15 years!!!!

It makes sense, they are “NOT” from DC and do “NOT” have the DC political machine behind them, they are from Arkansas.

The whole concept of the “Clinton Machine” is flawed! I do not but it!

It is the MSM that has given BHO a “freepass” several dozen times (i have 50 and counting), Why?

It is the MSM that waited until it was impossible for HRC to win before they started vettiung BHO, Why?

I don’t think the write ins will be handed to BHO, but they will not have any effect if the majority of her supporters vote for BHO. Better to vote for McCain or Nader, to help stop BHO’s momentum on Nov 4th. IMO

This is part of what he (john ryskamp) wrote

Obama’s indictment will be soon, under 18 USC 1346, the same section under which Rezko was convicted.

Obama’s indictment will be about the size of the phone book. Many, many charges. For example, Obama never wanted to buy a house: that was a front so Rezko could shield assets from casinos and GE.

In particular, Obama’s charges will focus on his boards legislation. His criminal role has been detailed by Evelyn Pringle. It is followed by a discussion of 18 USC 1346.

Can you believe how sleazy Obama’s supporters are, that they would ever support this moron flunkey of the Syrian mafia? Here’s Evelyn’s discussion….

NOT ONE DIME WILL COME FROM MY HOUSEHOLD TO SUPPORT THE CURRUPT DNC AND ITS LEADERSHIP!! Let your Golden Boy raise the cash from his “small” donors!

I cannot in good faith support a candidate who has to rely on someone else’s ideas to prop up his weak, inexperienced, racist and fanatical empty suit. I fully intend on voting AGAINST any Democratic candidate who supported or supports this farce. In all the years I have voted I never thought those words would roll off my tongue. NEVER, before this debacle, would I have ever thought of not voting for a democrat. I can whole heartedly say that I am ashamed of the leaders of the democratic party.

Thank You,

The democratic party , right now even if they know that hussein is the wrong person& unpresidential , they have made such mess, thinking that they were having the most charismatic african-american(which he is not) candidate & it was going to be “the best of the most”,
and now
they have a problem @ africa-americans , that might react if their candidate might be taken away
and plus the media manipulation & soro, etc
@ all this, the party is at a “cul de sac”
therefore on behalf of the party & the media claque
we are not going to find anything about hussein´s “dirty cloth”
but
if anything happens before denver, will have HILLARY as candidate
on the other hand
the republicans are saving” it” for later, after hussein is officially nominated in DENVER, thus until then we are not going to have any clarity on the matter

Howard Dean mailed out a solicitation yesterday from the Dems asking for money. Many of you probably received it, too. So I downloaded the donation page, marked in the name slot (PUMA INDEPENDENT), address (WA). telephone # 1-800-PUMAPAC, donate 44, and wrote in 2 additional federal requirements under the 8 already there (I am a PUMA INDEPENDENT and I AM A WOMAN). Folded the donation letter with a 44 bill from our site and mailed it this AM with a stamped puma in gold on the back and an American Flag in the return address spot. It felt soooooooo good.

Pumas,

I think we should let Obama supporters pay off Hillary’s debt. They will have to, if they want to claim UNITY.
Think about it. They will have to put up or shut up.
It’s one way to make sure “they” pay. We can use our money elsewhere to help our cause.

Dear Pumas, here is Donna Brazile’s latest email to me, followed by my reply. Enjoy …

******

Well, I am going to move on. There is too much hate, too much arrogance and too many people taking liberty to accuse others when they are just uninformed.

Have a great weekend.

******

Dear Ms. Brazile,

I am very much trying to be an informed voter, but Senator Obama doesn’t make it easy.

Like most voters, I don’t have time to study the issues in depth. Like many voters, I’m unimpressed by the policy statements the candidates post on their web sites, because they read more like press releases than articles of substance. Any good marketing person can write a decent press release, which may or may not accurately reflect the candidate.

I’m not swayed by television commercials or rallies. I do get some value from listening to surrogates. However, the one thing that really shows me what the candidates are made of is their performance in debates.

Senator Obama’s refusal to continue having debates with Senator Clinton was, in my mind, a huge tactical error. His refusal to agree to weekly town hall meetings with Senator McCain is an even bigger one. I’m willing to listen to what he has to say. I’m willing to compare the candidates. But if Senator Obama won’t debate John McCain, he’s making it clear that he doesn’t want my vote.

If you’re in a position to encourage Senator Obama to agree to the weekly town hall meetings, please do so. Help me be an informed voter.

Thank you for your consideration.

#444 tatepuma on 06.27.08 at 5:56 pm

Maybe I am wrong and if I offend anyone please forgive me; Hillary knows that BO is not right for this nation there is a major reason why she is behind him. Either e she sees that the party has already decided the nominee which is 61 she knows this and is just is too tired to continue the fight or doesnot have the money to continue the fight or she knows that the VP spot is hers. She is too strong of a woman to allow the party to intimdate her so I believe there is somethingelse in the wind. I believe that she has moved on and so must we but still love, admire, and support her. Just like Hillary we will fight an uphill battle but if we stay focused we can meet our ultimate goal that is to reform the democratic process and stop 61. We are not alone and that is a good feeling.

Subject Unity? How about Treachery? By Denise Ross

Comments Over at S.D. Watch, Todd Epp has reported a truly breath-taking story that has the potential to derail Barack Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s big Unity push just as it’s beginning.

… the Clinton campaign offered a major fundraiser to the state (SD Dem) party in exchange for two superdelegate votes …

Todd promises more details, and I, for one, am waiting at the edge of my seat. Given what he’s reported so far, this seems to be an ongoing offer from Clinton rather than something that faded away after the June 3 primary.

An intra-party dispute erupted Thursday during the SD Dem Convention in Oacoma. Clinton delegate and Rapid City alderman Malcom Chapman – who introduced Hillary at many of her SD appearances – became angry with SD Dem party chairman Jack Billion for resisting Clinton’s offer. This says to me that Chapman is still trying to proffer such a deal. Indeed, Epp quotes Chapman as saying he has “almost cut the deal” with the Clinton campaign.

Nevermind, I guess, that Chapman almost certainly lacks authority within the SD Dem Party to strike such a deal.

This revelation raises a lot of questions. Here’s what I think they are. Please write in with more analysis.

**Do super-delegates Cheryl Kandaras Chapman (Malcom’s wife & the SD Dem Party’s vice chair) and Sen. Tim Johnson, count as the 2 super-dels sought by Clinton? Or is she seeking 2 additional? (While Johnson endorsed Obama, he has pledged to cast his vote for whomever won SD’s primary, and that’s Hillary, as we all remember well.)

**Are the Clintons mounting a 50-state strategy of their own, seeking similar deals across the nation? If so, does that mean that she’s still aiming for her party’s nomination? What else could it mean?

**Now that word is out about this little escapade, on the eve of the Dems’ big Unity push, how quickly will it sour already fragile relations between Obama and Clinton?

**If you’re Tom Daschle, are you furious or bemused? (Tom, feel free to answer this one directly.)

**If you’re Stephanie Herseth, is this why you skipped the party convention? (It would scare me away were I in her shoes.)

**If you’re Tom Daschle, does this prompt you to make any additional efforts to retire the SD Dem Party’s notorious and seemingly endless debt?

Spread the word

http://hoghouseblog.com/2008/06/27/unity-how-about-treachery

#452 Dragonfly on 06.27.08 at 5:59 pm

#444 tatepuma – I think the Convention is still an opportunity for her. That is why we should all send the letter to Pelosi asking for a roll call vote on the floor. HRC can still be the candidate for President.

#453 hillfan4mccain on 06.27.08 at 6:00 pm

#227 alohapuma

I understand your concern for paying down her debt. I have been sending money weekly to her site til a week ago. However we have 2months until the convention, thats not much time. If there is a quick way to do it, then yes. My concern is our time is limited. Also she asked us to pay down her debt because she has to. She has to show Bo that she is trying. Its all part of the game. I grew up in DC and most of my friends/family have worked with one administration or another. As others have posted here before, this was decided a long time ago. Now they are playing it out.
I dont want to sound like I’m against this. Again, my concern is time, thats all. I’m still getting giggles from people when I give them flyers or tell them about us. Not all of course but some. Recent TV spots have helped greatly with exposure. Great job Murphy! But its not enough, we need more. Thats all.

Hillary is doing what she must do now, in part to shore up her position as she continues fighting for the causes she believes in. If she’s not our President, she will continue championing those causes from the Senate. She must have the support of other senators.

Meanwhile, she is also doing what she must to win over Obama supporters. Imagine what would happen if Obama self-destructs between now and Denver, and the DNC makes Hillary our nominee. She knows she will need the support of Obama’s followers, lest they vote for McCain in protest the way many of us plan to do now.

While we may not like to see her supporting Obama, she’s playing her hand well, doing what she must to ensure the best possible outcome under the circumstances.

#470 PumaAllie on 06.27.08 at 6:12 pm

my view is this though:

I think that the Democratic process itself needs to be challenged legally, morally, and intellectually.

I think Senator Clinton’s supporters must turn out in numbers at Denver, to present her case.

Senator Clinton must be waiting to see the strength of the movement, she is waiting.

Take it to Denver, and then, say no deal to Barack Obama. Make the case on the facts of democracy and electability of the other candidate.

If not, then persuade Senator Clinton, that we need her to go Independent, as per the original debates (George Washington) who warned about political parties.

This is a pro-Hillary site and if you don’t like it here, you can leave. Why would we vote for an unqualified candidate? Why would we vote for a politician who ran the dirtiest campaign since Nixon? Why would we vote for a someone who played the race card and then blamed the Clintons? Why is he still playing it? Apparently you do not have a problem with Obama’s lies about Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers and Rezco. And, by the way, he is not out of hot water yet, he could still get indicted in the Rezco scandal. I can’t stand to look at him and listen to his empty words. If Hillary is not the nominee, I will vote for McCain.

#480 Firebelle Puma on 06.27.08 at 6:19 pm

I didn’t take the time to read your entire post. I’ll say merely that I would be solidly behind Obama if I believed he was a good man and a man of his word. I was suitably impressed the first couple of times I saw him, which was in the Democratic debates six months ago.

However, Obama has repeatedly demonstrated qualities I don’t like. I wish I felt differently, because Obama’s stated policies are much closer to my own beliefs than are McCain’s. But I can’t in good conscience vote for a man of such bad character. Sadly, it looks like I won’t be able to vote for the candidate I want in November. Instead, I must vote for what I believe is the lesser of two evils.

I am not thoughtfulvetting anymore and have not been before Puma Pac was formed I have asked for a correction. I am CHUMPED DEMOCRAT; ChumpedDemocrat has been my title since the end of the primaries.

I think we must divide our funds between Hillary’s debt and forward-moving positions. Most important is the continued pressure on the DNC and an UNQUALIFIED AND ILLEGITIMATE candidate, the first ever put forward by any major party. We must have democracy, not autocracy. Even though Hillary is supporting (damn, even endorsing) BO, she has only suspended her campaign. She has not given away her delegates. See alohapuma #248, Goninasimonejr #258, zombiefortruth, #272. We must be more powerfully active than primarily reducing Hillary’s campaign debt. Our money must go for: 1) Getting the first roll call vote; 2) Advertising about primary fraud and about BOs lies and flip flops; 3) Stating what our Democratic Party stands for in contrast to the elitist, authoritarian pseudo-Dem Party; 4) Demanding a proper birth certificate for BO and planning a TRIAL FOR TRREASON BY THE DNC, MSM, AND BO (zombiefortruth #216 11:25 am).

Yes, let us band together and demand an official birth certificate; at the same time how about his State Senate papers. I want us to begin a law suit for who BO is as an American citizen — we and the citizens of this nation have a right to know. So far he has not produced an official birth certificate. We know he has one in Kenya.

I think we should let Obama show us how well his followers listen to his request to help HIllary with her debt. If he is as effective and if his supporters want Hillary to back them up with her supporters, I think they should cough up the cash. Just like me, I put my money where my mouth is – My husband and I contributed the max of $4,600 to Hillary in May and we are just normal run of the mill folk !!! We did it online without such a show as Obama did… to quote CNN ticker… he wrote the check himself .. . WoW, how big of him !!
Lets see if his Kool Aid followers follow suit or perhaps they are just better at slinging mud and hate.

I hope Bill Clinton tells him to take a hike – now they are wondering where Bill is and why he hasn’t come out to do a gushy gushy “I love you no shit” photo op with Obama. People are twisted and sick to expect loyalty to be bought/sold , demanded and expected. Sorry, I had to add some color to my post…

I am not sure who I am sickened most with – Obama, DNC or the general American people that just want to FEED ON FRESH BLOOD… I think it is unfathomable to see young and old (yes old) think that by voting for a freshman is a sign of their forward thinking – this is what makes me sick… the rest of the American people.. if they didn’t think that way, we wouldn’t be in this
@#%* pickle….

#486 Dragonfly on 06.27.08 at 6:22 pm

#470 islandgirl – no one here is a racist attacking Obama. Please send me a link to any clip that would show either Bill or Hillary being racist. The problem with our discourse today is that if one questions a person who happens to be black, then the person is racist. If one attacks a woman for challenging the status quo with a misogynistic style, then all we hear are **crickets**. Why don’t you have any criticism for Jesse Jackson Jr., Obama’s campaign manager comparing fighting HRC to OJ attacking the white mother of his children? Or Steve Cohen, an elected official in Tennessee comparing HRC to Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction? Or Obama himself, with his admittedly bad habit of calling women “sweetie,” including journalists he’s never met but dismisses easily while admiring cars in a plant full of anxious workers wanting hope?

Over and out PUMAs. Must feed the little dragonflies.

#487 alohapuma on 06.27.08 at 6:23 pm

I think we should treat islandgirl45 with respect and discuss the issues.

islandgirl45, you said,

“I also watched the news clip when Pres. Clinton sought to “ghetto-ize” Obama in South Carolina. Sadly, it couldn’t have been more obvious what Pres. Clinton intended. I was appalled by Hillary’s Republican-style attack ads in the latter part of the campaign, too. They were vile.”

Would you kindly be specific. What did Bill say and what did Hillary say…specifically?

My first comment to you is, we know what Obama’s position papers say. We understand the promises, but the only way to predict the future is my examining the past. There are too many red flags here to roll the dice on the Presidency of the United States, because we want to believe the words of rousing speech.

#492 mayor0102 on 06.27.08 at 6:25 pm

Watching TV before the Unity thing (either FOX or CNN) and there was a piece about Daschle being on the board of several Ethanol companies. Obama is heavy into Ethanol production and use in his platform. The piece was about the true dealings of both Obama and McCain. It spoke of where both are the weakest with their ideas. Somehow we, the people, have to get through all the hype and see the truth. But basically I believe that most people don’t want to spend the time to find the truth. Truth is factual, not sping or gossip. It takes time to find it. Do we have any bonified researchers in this organization? No offense to many fine, hard working folks, but it takes a professional in this area to get at all the pieces.

88 Your northern neighbour on 06.27.08 at 2:46 pm, WROTE,

[[ We need to bring democracy back into the party and to hold DNC accountable for what it has done.]]

My concern is that the May 31st DNC meeting used a media Exist poll and gave media way too much power over our election process. That was born out on June 3rd as the AP 1) announced Hillary giving a concession speech which was not only false but a way to tell voters to stay home and not vote for her; and 2). by announcing the delegate count early on that day, once again, it was like telling voters, don’t bother, it’s over.

SO—

One of my ideas for change would be this: Media like newspapers should openly display (even by way of endorsement) which party and which candidate they are supporting so that we will know and be able to recognize media spin. And the same would go for each individual show and each individual news anchor. If they are going to influence and election they ought to be responsible enough to tell us up front: Hello, I am Wolf Blitzer a CNN anchor for the Situation Room but I openly endorse BHO…. now stay tuned for a report on a Hillary Rally!

Like that… so we know how to recognise the spin and how to turn them off.

Of course, you have the right to have your opinion. As you have been looking around here for days, you know what we are about. So, you certainly are welcome to go to the action center to help the cause or find an *61 blog.

BTW: voting for someone because they have the same opinion as someone else is one thing. Having the experience to carry it off is quite another. AND, I don’t fear Roe v. Wade, because I know how the law works. I’m not blindly relying on what someone else tells me to think about it.

Good afternoon everyone,
Well alot has happened since I was here this morning! I agree that Hillary must do what she is doing. She is a politician and she needs to throw her support behind the Democratic nominee. I do not and will not fault her for that. I would do the same thing if I thought the nominee was a good candidate for President. I have done it before in other elections, even when the nominee was not the one I had originally supported. I will not do it now because I truly do not believe that this candidate, Senator Obama, is qualified to lead our country. That is my choice, just as it is for all of us here. Additionally, we are protesting a larger issue–how this candidate became the nominee. I do not believe it was an honest and democratic process. That too is my choice, just as it is for most people in this cause. I also can understand how some people do not choose to take the course we are taking–that is their choice and privilege. This is supposed to be a democracy, after all and our vote and our voice is supposed to be sacrosanct. I still have all the respect in the world for Hillary even because she is doing what she must and doing it in her own gracious and dignified way. She is still my hero. I just cannot follow her down this particular path. I do hope that this group can honor Hillary by continuing with the same grace, dignity and conviction that Hillary has even though we travel down two different paths.

Really folks. You need to read Heidi Li’s ‘insider’ blog about the joint Clinton/BO fundraiser meeting held Thursday night. It is quite insightful and interesting, particularly the part about “Senator Clinton knows exactly what she’s doing”.

http://heidilipotpourri.blogspot.com/2008/06/fundraising-summit-part-iii-senator.html

Excerpt: “Senator Clinton turned toward the group, people who had cheered her and cheered her as she entered, people who have worked hard on her behalf, and she told us that our work was not yet finished; that regardless of what happens this November she would need our support to make sure that every American had a real chance to make the American dream true for him or her. It was a unique moment. A public figure, Senator Clinton, turning to us, about 150 people (I am guessing very wildly) and she made it clear that her first loyalty is to those who have shown her loyalty…”

From Heidi’s blog…. I agree wholeheartedly

“A Donation to Retire the Debt = A Slap in the Face to the D.N.C.

The D.N.C. is in real trouble right now. They can’t raise money. Senator Clinton’s most powerful fundraisers are not going to help them – at least not based on what I have heard them saying – even if Senator Clinton would like the D.N.C. to receive help (Senator Clinton is thinking of the downstream Democrats who rely on the party for assistance in their upcoming elections).

My view is that if the D.N.C. wants one lick of help from any supporter of Senator Clinton the first thing it should do is boot Howard Dean and make it clear that the new chair is somebody who Senator Clinton wants in that position.

In the meantime, we can help Senator Clinton AND tick off the D.N.C. at the same time (smile a slightly naughty smile here). If we very quickly raise a ton ‘o money to rid Senator Clinton of her debt, believe me, the D.N.C. will understand where the true power lies. After we raise that money, we hold on to every penny we have unless and until Senator Clinton becomes the nominee for President or clearly takes control of the D.N.C.”

To All, Politics is this one great big family especially in political parties and WA DC. Everyone knows everyone, smiles at everyone, stabs everyone in the back, and them invites them to their fundraising parties. They inter-marry, sort of like Mary M and James C. Its a game, a daily game of chess. But we out in the “real world” don’t live that way. Don’t have time. Trying to make a living. That’s why I think we need to clean out WA DC especially the Congress and some of the people in the agencies. Didn’t O promise this clean out? Still think I’ll sit back with my feet up on the chair and watch this whole game play out. Nothing will change. I’d better go take my “optimism” pill.

#536 Firebelle Puma on 06.27.08 at 6:57 pm

Dear Pumas, once again I’ve heard from my “pen pal” Donna. Here’s her email, followed by my response. Enjoy …

*****

If you need info, I will send your name and email to the Obama camp. I do not work for Obama or the DNC. I am a Dem volunteer.

Again, I can send your name, but I am not interested in reading crap.

I am very passionate right now about the Party, our nominee and the need to help Sen Clinton retire millions in debt.

Thanks,

*****

Dear Ms. Brazile,

The Obama camp has had my contact information since I first expressed interest in the candidate last January. I didn’t unsubscribe to their mailing list, because despite my current dislike for the candidate, I’m still trying to be an informed voter. I just wish I’d get some substantial information from the Obama camp instead of rhetorical press releases.

Although you don’t work for Obama or the DNC, you seem to be well-respected by party leaders. If that were not the case, I wouldn’t bother emailing you. Nor would I ask you to consider encouraging Obama to accept McCain’s invitation for weekly debates. I’m being open and honest with you about what Obama can do to perhaps shift my thinking. But nothing short of hearing him in weekly debates with John McCain will convince me.

If you’re passionate about the party and your nominee, please consider my input. It’s the same thing I would tell Obama if he asked me directly what it would take to get my vote. I want to hear both candidates debate the issues so that I can make a fair comparison.

Thank you for your consideration.

Well, I can only answer some of your questions from a personal point of view. As an Independent, I base my vote on who I think will be best for the country.

I listened to BO speeches and in the beginning was neutral. Very quickly I came to the conclusion that he was a person of flawed character. Yes, part of this is an emotional reaction to him. But part is not. I was raised in a family in which religion, politics, and race were NEVER discussed. I had no previous prejudices against anyone except for terrorists (for obvious reasons). I have watched BO divide the country into factions based on hate and I have watched his supporters spew hatred towards others. Such language and ill will towards others by BO supporters – lordy lordy – I have never heard such hatred. BO supporters can only be acting out of blind faith and ignorance. I ask myself who inspires this hatred and the only answer I come up with is BO.

I have to remind myself now not to be afraid of people who do not share my skin color.

I watch the company he keeps. Like attracts like.

This country is filled with hatred and divisiveness.

Our freedom of speech is suppressed.

Disturbing FACTS are reported about BO daily.

Civil rights have been set back by decades.

My choice of who to vote for is based on (1) policy and (2) integrity of the candidate.

Honestly, I do not understand how anyone can do an objective analysis of BO’s integrity, honesty, or character and come to any conclusion other than that he would destroy America should he be elected.

Do your homework with an objective mind and then come back and support your position with facts. Only then can any of us take you seriously. If after your own investigation you feel as we do, come join us.

Also, just on Fox, Juan Williams and others discussing Bill Clinton’s absence. They were shocked at his tepid endorsement. What the hell do they want, his presidency was trashed and he was unfairly called a racist. I hope Bill doesn’t go out and campaign, I would be surprised if he did. I would like to see a page added to the blog with the correct information for voters who are wanting to write-in Hillary’s name in the general election. If someone from each state would call the Secretary of State office in the state they reside in and post the info here then we can all stay informed.

The info for write-in in Ohio is:
Senator Clinton or the Clinton campaign must file a “Declaration of Intent” by September 3, 2008 to have a write-in for her to be counted. If the Intent is NOT filed then a write-in will not be counted nor will it go to B.H.O.. The write-in will be ignored as though you didn’t cast a vote.

As of now the Declaration of Intent has not been filed. I will keep checking to see if that changes.

[[ I wonder if anyone can answer this for me. I have donated over the 2,300 max to HRC. If I donate more, will any of it go to retire her debt?]]

Anything you donate to hillaryclinton.com will go to her campaign and yes her debt. Also, she cannot give him her contributor list. Your name and address are safe.

Just make sure you look for the BIG CONTRIBUTE button and do not sign onto the Obama Banner.

Hi, new Puma here! Been reading along since HRC suspended campaign. I’m happy to see that momentum is gaining. Daragh is a great spokesperson as well.

#555 ladyhawkke on 06.27.08 at 7:06 pm

#546 A write-in will not do it. Obama could get elected. That is just like putting a third party candidate on the ballot, they never get enough of the vote. Here in Florida, they have to file a Declaration of Intent also and it hasn’t been done. The only way to keep *61 out if Hillary is not the nominee is to vote McCain.

#556 mayor0102 on 06.27.08 at 7:06 pm

Bill doesn’t owe anyone anything. Even with his faults, he still was a great President. The MSM and DNC just wants someone to be their scapegoat. They do the same thing to Jimmy Carter whenever they get a chance. However, the former Republican Presidents don’t get that type of treatment from their Party. Who has class here? Democrats or Republicans? I’d say the Republicans do a lot better in honoring and respecting their past Presidents than the Dems. Except they may have difficulty with Bush II…

Maybe we should send President Clinton some flowers! I admire him as well–he campaigned his heart out for Hillary and you can tell that he really cares for her and about her. He would get into trouble when he was trying to defend her. . .I never thought it was trouble, but the press would take every opportunity to make it into trouble.
We could make him an honorary PUMA! Of course that would really get him into trouble!

OT, just heard this audio clip on Sinclair. Apparently, the whole arrest after the press conference was a sham…no warrant, even the courts couldn’t figure out why he was labeled a fugitive and was taken in. No paperwork, no item number for the supposed crime, etc.. The guy is going against the biggest machine in politics right now…interesting and worth a listen.

I think you must be the looking thru the wrong glasses or maybe you need to get some if havent seen the way Obama and his supporters and the DNC adn the media have been so wrong in this election or should i say {SELECTION] OF BHO
And as far as obama helping pay off Hillarys debt you fail to mention thats usally what happens as he did by helping pay off Edwards , and richarson debt so really hes no big hero here !!!!! And we all know that they gave him 4 of her delagates and since you say it didnt mean so much since he was 100 ahead why did he take them and let the votes and delagates to be counted and he took willingly the votes of 3 or 4 other candidates that was in the race at the time? and trust me all know where he got his lead in the cacuses where they abused the eledely people in the lines by in some cases hitting them in the heads with their fists and bussing people in that didnt even show proof of ID or counting votes twice in N.C. thats a fact !!!
And seems as thou all of his supporters just think its ok to be mentored by the rev. wright that he has changed his story on so many times or being mentored by the communist Frank Thomas Davis and all of his flip flops of late !!!! Believe the things about this guy are to many to even write down he is a security threat to our country !!!!!!!!! And you coming here to try get us to drink that koolaid will never happen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trust before Nov. there will be so many things come out about him you will be begging to switch sides !!!!!!

Hello Pumas, We have not a second to waste. We need to find a way to reach out to those around us with our message. Here’s my e-mail I just wrote to a childhood friend who I just found out is contemplating voting for *61 in light of the recent events!

Dear Mirna,

I am writing this e-mail to you because I’m REALLY concerned for our country. You know me to be a very outspoken individual but when have you ever heard me talk about politics before this election? Or, when have you seen me as concerned as you see me now about the future of our country? I have never, ever in my life put too much of my energy in any of this kind of stuff before because as you know I have an extremely busy life and I know you do too! So, what’s different this time? Why am I taking a moment from your busy day to ask you to please read this e-mail? Why do I take a chance of alianating you by talking about this stuff when you are such a dear friend to me? Well, we never had a extreme leftist, unexperienced, with no proven track record of any kind, a loyal disciple and follower of the Black liberation theology for 20 years who wrote a book inspired by a sermon given by his w hi te America hating pastor who he calls his spiritual mentor, and friend of America’s haters and documented domestic terrorists, a friend of convicted felons who raised money for his campaign, someone who has earned the admiration and endorsement of all the dictators and abusers or power of the world (all these things combined) run for the presidency of our country before! That’s what’s different this time! I’m not a bigot, a racist or a closed minded and resistant to change kind of individual, for I am myself different, and a member of a minority group in this country. No one else could be more against people who discriminate others base on race, gender or religious background than myself. No one could be more for change than myself. But I am for the right and positive kind of change that will provide my children with the same opportunities that I have enjoyed! I don’t believe that socialis m and Marxism represent the kind of change any of us would want for our country. I don’t believe that someone who sat in the pew of a “church” that promotes hate towards others and embraces both the message as much as the messenger of such evil for 20 years can deliver the kind of change that our country needs. It is a fact that thousands of dollars in personal donations and earmarks were given to these hate mongering “churches” by this so called “agent of change and transparency” that now aspires to the highest office in the land. If this doesn’t serve as proof of how close to his heart this “cause” is, I don’t know what does. Would you donate money to a cause you did not support or believed in wholeheartedly? Would you stay in a church that promotes hate towards others for 20 years if you didn’t agree with the message? Is this good judgment? Would you be able to preside e ffectively and fairly over a nation as diverse as the United Sta tes of America if you considered a huge sector of its population to be the “oppressors” of “your people”? I don’t claim to agree with 100 % of what my pastor says every Sunday, but believe me, if he started using racially divisive incendiary language and started “preaching” hate instead of love and division instead of unity, or if he started twisting the Bible to suit his own agenda, I’d be leaving that church in a heart beat without ever looking back! I don’t think that staying in that church would represent the minimum amount of parental responsibility that my children deserve! Should we expect any less from those individuals running for President?
In terms of qualifications and experience, what has he ever accomplished that qualifies him to lead this nation? He has no specific accomplishments of any kind, and the reason I know is because I have researched high and low, in addition to the research that I have done, I have been open to give him the benefit of the doubt by picking up the phone and by calling both his own campaign headquarters and the DNC’s headquarters and neither could offer me any substance worth of any serious consideration! So, all I’m left with to make my decision of whether or not I can even consider voting for this man are his character and judgment, which seem a little grim if you ask me! Will charisma and flowery rethoric do the trick? Well, perhaps it would if we were choosing the next American Idol or trying the fill a vacancy for a motivational speaker, but he is applying for the position of Commander in Chief! Think o f the last time YOU got a job based on charisma alone. Perhaps it is this very lack of experience and qualifications what made him cheat, twist and manipulate the rules when he first ” won” his State Senate seat in Chicago by making sure to use technicalities to remove from the ballot the names of those who were indeed qualified so he could run uncontested! Is this the new American hero?

Let’s talk about change for a moment. Is change a speech you make or something you accomplish by working hard? When was the last time you were able to change anything just by talking about it? Should we believe so implicitly in the words of someone who claiming to be the ultimate agent of change has nothing to show for in terms of accomplishments? What has he ever changed?!

Let’s now talk about unity. Is it possible to achieve it by promoting division? Does he overcome racism by posing as the victim and by playing the race card on those who dare ask for a specific and concrete plan of how he is to deliver the promises he has made? I guess the answer is no, but playing the race card has proven to be a very effective method to deviate people’s attention from the real issues: The economy, the mortgage meltdown, the out of control gas prices, our dependency of foreign oil, the war on terror, unafordable health care, education, and his inability to deal with any of these issues or fix any of these problems due to his lack of qualifications. Isn’t it interesting how this “great uniter” would not hesitate to sit down with our enemies abroad such as Hugo Chavez, Raul Castro, and Mahmoud Ahmedinajad to name a few without pre-conditions but WILL NOT agree to hold a town hall m eeting with his opponent here at home unless a huge number of conditions are met prior to his meeting with him? How are we to believe that he is capable to reach across party lines to get anything done if he is elected president? One thing is clear in my mind about this character, he is so hungry for power and respects nothing that stands in his way to accomplish this goal of his. His “spiritual mentor” and the churches and groups he used in his rise to power have been officially thrown under the bus. His own grandmother was thrown under the bus, although it is my understanding that she has been brought back from under the bus because it suits the uniter’s agenda at this particular moment as he launches a “make-over” campaign in order to get rid of his tarnished image. Will those who cast a vote for him in this election be the next group to end up under the bus?

I want you to know it’s been very difficult for me to gather the courage to say what I have said to you in this e-mail. Please know that I’m not doing this in an effort to invade your space or to lecture you about how to vote. That is the last thing on my mind! My only motivation in writing these lines is to share my genuine concerns for our nation with you, who I consider not only and intelligent individual but a loving and caring citizen of this country. Please ask yourself who you pledge allegiance to? Is party affiliation to be regarded more important than loyalty to your country? All I ask is that you look at the facts and that you do take the time to closely examine ALL candidates and their records. We hear former opponents and party icons and leaders of the so called agent of change coming out to endorse him now and to ask us to consider giving him o ur votes and to unite behind this character, but, have you noticed that all of these former candidates, party icons and leaders are rich enough to pick up their entire families in less than 24 hours and relocate somewhere else in the event that this country goes down the tube! Can you and I do that? Perhaps the answer to this last question should be an indication that the future of our nation is in the hands of those of us who are here to stay!

I have plenty of research material to back up every single statement I have made in this e-mail. Let me know if you would like me to forward any of it to you.

Thank you for taking the time to read my e-mail.

Love,

Roxy

P.S.: The paragraphs below are a an excerpt from Wikipedia. They briefly talk about Black Liberation Theology.

Theologians such as theology scholar Dr. Robert A. Morley take a dim view of black theology. Morley’s paper “The Goals Of Black Liberal Theology” is one widely quoted paper citing specific criticisms of black theology.

He states that black theology turns religion into sociology, and Jesus into a black Marxist rebel. While making statements against whites and Asians, it promotes a poor self-image among blacks, and describes the black man as a helpless victim of forces and people beyond his control. Black theology calls for political liberation instead of spiritual salvation.

Fundamentally, it is not Bible-based, Christ-honoring theology from this critical viewpoint. Anthony Bradley of the Christian Post interprets that the language of “economic parity” and references to “mal-distribution” as nothing more than channeling the views of Karl Marx.

He believes James Cone and Cornel West have worked to incorporate Marxist thought into the black church, forming an ethical framework predicated on a system of oppressor class versus a victim much like Marxism.

Stanley Kurtz of the National Review criticizes black liberation theology, saying, “A scarcely concealed, Marxist-inspired indictment of American capitalism pervades contemporary ‘black-liberation theology’…The black intellectual’s goal, says Cone, is to “aid in the destruction of America as he knows it.” Such destruction requires both black anger and white guilt. The black-power theologian’s goal is to tell the story of American oppression so powerfully and precisely that white men will “tremble, curse, and go mad, because they will be drenched with the filth of their evil.” In the preface to his 1970 book, A Black Theology of Liberation, Wright wrote: “There will be no peace in America until whites begin to hate their whiteness, asking from the depths of their being: ‘How can we become black?’”

OK I have a question for all of you out there.

Here is my question—Hillary says she is not worried about the 12 million in personal loans she made to the campaign. Hillary says she only wants to get the other part paid off.

So what exactly would happened if Hillary doesnt pay off the other 8-10 million with public donations but pays it with her own money.

We all know from the income taxes that Bill and Hillary earned over a hundred million last year. Losing 20% of my income to me would be a lot better than to have to suck up to Obama. Maybe its just me, but considering how Obama has treated the Clintons I would never get on Obama’s bus.

I wasnt a big donator to Hillary but I did chip in. Since that Saturday speech when she endorsed Obama I stopped. I just could not see even one penny of my money going to Obama.

So anyone have the answer to my question?

Yes, I got her email. I immediately sent this reply:

Dearest Hillary,

I will support you always. However, I cannot support Barack Obama. He has repeatedly shown himself to be a man of bad character and bad judgment.

I and my PUMA family will do everything we can to expose Obama’s weaknesses and bad character between now and Denver so that perhaps the superdelegates will vote for you and make you our nominee. If that happens, we will vote for you in November. If not, I will vote for McCain. I may not agree with his policies, but I trust him far more than I do Obama. I cannot in good conscience elect a man of bad character.

The Fall…and Rise of the Clinton Empire

AC360° Correspondent

Just when you thought it was safe to watch political news again, take a look at those pictures of her and Obama standing hand in hand, and brace yourselves, Hillary haters.

All of you out there who are celebrating because her campaign is over, all of you who danced in your living rooms when she made her concession speech, all of you who said “Finally, the era of the Clintons is over.”

And all of you whose hearts were broken by her defeat; raise your eyes.

Because many political watchers here in DC are convinced Hillary Clinton is emerging from this election stronger than she went in, despite her loss… And they’ve got about 18 million reasons to think that way. 18 million voters chose her over Barack Obama. Think about that. Even in a country as large as ours, that is a staggering number of people, and in Washington that translates into clout. In every state where she won big, elected Democrats took notice. Now watch what happens. When those Dems are seeking re-election or grappling with big issues, odds are her name will be riding high on their Outlook contacts list.

All that cheerleading she is doing for Obama, brings some spoils of war with it. Insiders say former Clinton staff workers are taking new positions within Camp Obama every day. Her biggest supporters and donors are slowly stepping up to shake his hand. She is walking alongside him, and with every step she is gaining influence, respect, and power in the next administration if Obama wins the White House.

If she had lost badly, she would be scrabbling around for crumbs. But she played him to a near tie in the popular vote, and that is something that no one in the Democratic Party dares to ignore. If Democrats want to beat the Republicans, (and they do!) they suspect the Clinton Seal of Approval must be stamped on a fair amount of all that happens until November.

Because with that seal (and forgive me for bringing up the now sensitive subject of seals) comes access to the Clinton political machine; top level operatives who know how to rally support in the states where Obama did not connect so well, and with constituencies that he makes uneasy: Latinos, older working class voters, and some women. With Clinton approval comes experience in running a general election campaign against the Republicans; remember, Obama has never done that before and primary battles, like the one he just waged, are wholly different affairs. And with Clinton approval comes the former president, Bill Clinton. It is not yet clear, precisely, what role he will play, and considering all the kerfuffle he raised around his wife’s campaign, Obama may be understandably cautious about how he is deployed…but it is certainly better for Obama to have him on his side.

Make no mistake about it, Obama won the nomination. He came from absolutely nowhere to knock off a sure winner (that would be her,) and stun the Washington power players. He’s not about to give her a co-presidency now. Even all that talk of a Vice Presidential slot has grown muted.

But Hillary Clinton is, as it seems the Clintons always do, rapidly turning her defeat into political cabbage; chopping it ten different ways, slathering it with the sauce of consolation, rearranging it on the Capitol platter, and guess who looks like she is eating steak again?

18 million voters have a way of sweetening the deal for any politician, whether or not he or she ultimately wins the race.

The Clinton Empire over? The political oracles in DC are whispering: Don’t bet on it.

Can someone tell me the best way to contribute in order to help with Hillary’s debt?

#620 sandipuma on 06.27.08 at 7:35 pm

Hillary would want us to do it the way we are. We need to raise money for our ads and to get Murphy on interviews with some good shows. Like the Ellen show who has more viewers that Oprah and the Larry King show and The View and Letterman. This could be our ace in the hole. We need to drop Obama to his knees and show the DNC they will pay for their dirty deeds

#621 Taffy on 06.27.08 at 7:35 pm

aloha I got it. It does say she will help elect him..but doesn’t sound like her ususal emails.

#622 prplvette85 on 06.27.08 at 7:35 pm

#596 You are so right. We need to keep paying the debt. If we just keep on, just like we did in the primary we can do this. Have parties, sell stuff, have a garage sale what ever you can do to contribute. We need to quit feeding negativity and get back to work. What is that Cher movie?
SNAP OUT OF IT!!!! LOL

#623 antifish on 06.27.08 at 7:37 pm

#611 k in the northwest,

Yes, I have an answer. Why would Hillary spend more of her own money when she has supporters that appreciate her and are willing to help her retire her debt? I don’t care how much money she has, she was out there fighting for us and she invested a LOT of her own money. Why would you ask such a question if you are a Hillary supporter? It seems mean-spirited.

#624 wontbackdown on 06.27.08 at 7:37 pm

#611 k in the northwest … If we don’t help her… he and the DNC will lord it over her, spken or unspoken, for the rest of her political career in one way or another.

Also, she will carry the mark of “having fundraising issues” in the future.

That is exactly what bought him the DNC and media wonder-boy selected position – his internet $$$ machine.

#626 wontbackdown on 06.27.08 at 7:40 pm

#623 antifish… does Hillary have a future as our presidential candidate? If so, we need to help pay off her debt before the convention!

P.S. Most employers do credit checks these days on applicants… what does that tell you?

#627 wontbackdown on 06.27.08 at 7:42 pm

#611 k in the northwest … If we don’t help her… (if he takes the credit for “helping her pay it off”)

…and if we don’t hurry, he’ll take the credit anyway!

#628 RoseCityfriend on 06.27.08 at 7:42 pm

What a depressing day. I don’t have cable t.v. so I didn’t see the Unity “event” but I’ve been listening to NPR and checking the web, and I haven’t seen any references to any protesters. Were they not allowed near, were their signs taken away, or did the media just ignore them?

Firebelle, I’m trying to digest and believe in your reasoning for why Hillary must do what she’s doing today. But it’s your letters to Donna that are the only thing that’s made me smile today! What a class act you are! Island girl, if you’re still lurking, Donna Brazile’s responses to Firebelle Puma’s very civil and reasonable emails reflect the exact problems I’ve had with this primary — the DNC’s highest echelon dismissing very disrespectfully one of the candidates, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, dismissing us, Democratic voters, whose only crime is to disagree with what we’re told to do. As much as I admire Hillary Clinton, this goes beyond her — it is the people, it is democracy, that the DNC disregards and continues to disrespect. I find it so contradictory — if all of Hillary’s voters are already falling into line (as the media and the DNC like to say we are) OR they don’t need us, then why the “unity” effort? Why not just go out and win it himself?

Firebelle, I also agree with your position on why you’re voting for McCain over Obama. If Obama really stood by his positions, e.g. if he followed through with the few convictions we thought he had, such as campaign finance reform or FISA, to debate McCain “any time, any place” (except this time and that place, I guess), then I’d vote for him. But more than positions, I vote for integrity, for character, for honesty, and I just don’t see those in Obama.

Oh, I feel a bit cheered up — NPR’s story on the Unity rally acknowledged that almost 50% of Clinton supporters are NOT won over to Obama yet!

#629 wontbackdown on 06.27.08 at 7:45 pm

#628 RoseCityfriend… cheer up, my friend! There is also good news looming on the horizon…

Hell…for a lifetime!
You know, it may seem that August is just a short few weeks away, but..anything can happen in a New York minute! I haven’t given up on the possibility that there is a miracle just waiting for the right circumstances to allow it to unfold!

#631 Tucsonpuma on 06.27.08 at 7:46 pm

Hey all, I just caught the end of something on FOX, that the Gallup poll has McCain tied with nobana at 44% and the McCain is taking offense that he is saying that if he McCain is elected that women will no longer have control over their reproductive organs. McCain again called on nobana again to debate him and say it too his face. This is something else we maybe can use. Nobama is trying to scare American women into voting for him. He can try to scare us but is afraid to defend his stance in a debate What do you all think?

The 109+ million made by the Clintons I believe it was over 7 years, or about 15million or so annually. Also, out of that they paid 33 million in taxes and 10 million to charities. The net comes to about 9 million annually (more or less).Sorry if I misled anyone earlier. If I am wrong, please feel free to correct me. I believe she has already resigned herself to not getting the 10 million + she personally donated but would I believe after some date in August that she can no longer use money she receives to pay off her debt. She has to have it paid off before then in order to use the contributions for her debt. I guess her and President Clinton would have to come up with the rest of the money to pay vendors, etc. either through personal loans or their own savings. Not sure if they can wrte any of it off. Technically that would be about 2 years of their salary that they would lose if they had to pay all of 20million plus. To us they still make alot of money but they have worked hard for their money and as far as I am concerned — good for them and for all the taxes they have paid for us and all the charitable orgnizations they have helped!!

So, this is why the urgency to get her debt paid off before the deadline.

I had a feeling that some might slam me for my question.
If Hillary was not now walking beside Obama I would be still pitching in whatever money I could.
If I remember right Hillary was promising up through the very last week that she was going to take this all the way to the Convention. In fact I gave quite a bit that week and did phone calls on her behalf.
Telling everyone to support Obama is not my idea of taking her campaign all the way to the Convention.
Right now it looks like the only people that are going to take it to the Convention are the Hillary supporters who still have some common sense.
So for now I just dont feel that I want to take a chance on any portion of anything I give landing in Obama’s or the DNC’s lap.
I have already been donating my money to some other anti-Obama causes and John McCain, and that is what I will continue to do when I can.

It’s that darn man me again (and fellow big cat lover, remember?).

I meant no harm toward Taffy. It’s just the dumb in me, I guess that has a poor way with words. Actually, I thought I was being pretty objective when “slamming” her with that “she wouldn’t make a good puma” line after reading the posts as always Obama this and Obama that and 150% a supporter. But I didn’t mind the presence of this individual either. I just read’m as I see’m. I also love being honest and as objective as possible when spouting off. You’ll never see me spew like an Obama phony, that I can assure you.

I’m really very accepting of others and their opinions. I learned a lot of peace, love and understanding at Woodstock in 1969 to know the value of tolerance.

Remember, I’m a guy from Mars. I don’t visit Venus often enough to know how to interpret exactly the things a Taffy individual might post. I’m assuming Taffy is a girl, by the way… and probably a very nice one at that.

Anyhoot, I stand by what I stated unless an apology is desired. It really wasn’t a big deal. But if a fellow cat lover thought poorly of me for even an instance I will suck in the pride and apologize. My lack of ego and Woodstock upbringing doesn’t mind me getting along with others at all.

:-)

If you would have asked me after the Texas primaries about the joint ticket with Hillary as VP I would have agreed to it, but after I found out more about HBOs “friends” there’s no chance that I will EVER start to think about voting for the ticket if Hillary is VP. His “friendships” are very scary to me and I am not taking a chance on my family’s and my life.

For 5 years now, we are paying more than $3,000 for Blue Cross of California medical insurance for the family of 3–me, my husband and our 5 year old son with heart disease. About 2 days ago, my uncle and I filled the car at Costco–we paid $59. I haven’t been able to find a job since Bush became President, but I can put up with another 4 years rather than let somebody who is close friends with terrorists access to controlling my life.

Today I can say to my uncle–remember the good old days in ’90s when the gas was $1, $1.20, $1.75 was considered EXTREMELY expansive (I am in North Cal). The good old days when we paid $7/unit in college during the summer and $5/unit during the school year. Today we are paying between $17/unit and $20/unit. At a State University it’s more than $2,000 per semester if you take 6 units instead of full load=12 units. In 2000 when I was graduating we paid $1,000 for anything above 6 units. Those were the “good old days”.

I am sorry, but I can’t even think about voting for HBO. I just hope that Hillary will not accept the VP position. I don’t want to hurt her, but I just can’t vote for him under any circumstances.

Beyond that, I’m still pushing to get Obama to agree to weekly town hall meetings with John McCain, because I think it’s the best way to expose his weaknesses and open the door for Hillary to get the nomination in Denver. So I’m baiting Donna today.

My response to Hillary,

Dear Hillary,

For over tens years now, I have stood with you; as our First Lady, then Senator from New York, and in your campaign for the Presidency. I will continue to stand with you as you fulfill your promises to the American people and the Democratic Party you’ve spent your adult life serving.

I am deeply disappointed by the current state of affairs. We are on the wrong road Hillary. As much as I understand unity is essential to winning this election, the ideals of democracy that so many before us have given their freedom and very lives to uphold; is larger than this election.

I can not in good conscience support this unveiled candidate simply because his position papers and his speeches would have us believe he is of like mind. Barack Obama’s history, his dismissive conduct toward fellow Americans, and his unscrupulous campaign tactics might have prevailed in the short term, but I see them as red flags. His shady associations, his hired cyber-bullies, and the hated expressed by many of his supporters reflect his distain for the values and needs of most Americans.

Barack Obama described his candidacy accurately when he said, “We don’t need the people. We need the checks.”

Hillary, we are rolling the dice based upon rousing speeches and artful fundraising. History has shown this precedent to be treacherous waters to navigate in the long-term.

I will continue to work toward retiring your debt.

Respectfully,

Name
Co. State

#649 ClintonRules on 06.27.08 at 7:58 pm

hey everyone! :)

i watched Hillary and…that other guy today…had the volume turned down (just couldnt listen) sad…but I still believe we will have that miracle! :)

I wasnt sure where to ask this and from what I’ve been reading here, it’s easy to figure out this is one of the best places to get a good answer:

I know that delegate Debra Bartoshevich has about 10 days to challenge the DNC (i believe) in order to remain a delegate. I remember reading somewhere (someone had posted) a few rules for delegates and i cant really remember but i’m pretty sure one said something about how a delegate cannot lose their rights for saying who their preference is…i hope i’m making sense.

the reason i’m asking for rules about this is i feel since she only has a certain amount of days to contest this, shouldn’t we send those specific rules to the DNC or anyone who is in charge of making the final decision? If we send these in mass quantity, i’m sure that would help make it obvious to some that we will know whether or not her delegate status was taken against the rules…

or am i just babbling on and on without any direction? lol

#628 Rose city Friend I have been watching news on and off today and it has been a GREAT day for us. One of our group really laid things out this morning after the rally and said we will not vote for noname, no matter what. He really got the point across (he was on fox news). There has been talk on Fox and CNN (tho I never watch this anymore but just wanted to check) re: the Clinton voters who say they WILL not vote for noname. Wexler was on CNN at the time and he said the dems are definitely united and look at Florida — they are ALL united there….??? no comment. fox has brought up the issue several times throughout the day. There were about a hundred plus of us at the rally (not me, just what I heard). EVERYDAY we get more publicity. OUr message IS getting out and loud and clear — we ARE doing the right things.

I hate to admit it but I watched msnbc to see Chris Matthews? to hear the vile things he had to say. He must have had a brain transplant because he was just glowing about Senator Clinton. I have not watched NBC for a few months but was thrilled that their ratings were in the tank. I still will NEVER watch them and today was a fluke and just curious. I seldom watch CNN anymore as well.

Also, there was a guy at the rally that used to work for Senator Clinton’s campaign and he had a shirt on that said he was a McCain democrat. Heard them talk about him but didn’t see him.

Tonight, apparently Hannity and Colmes are going to show there is NO unity in democrat unity-land.

Hope that helps…

We who are not natural born citizens are so fierce about our love for America. America has enabled us to be all we can be, no handouts, no freebies… There is gold on them streets,, you just have to believe it and work your HEART AND SOUL to find it. To turn our country over to someone like Obama whose love for his country and fellow non White countrymen is extremely questionable is very disturbing for us. Hi everyone, I have been sitting here in Ohio and just overwhelmed with so many different emotions. I have to say, that when I heard the contrast in Hillary’s heart felt and sincere speech next to the we need Hillary so I’ll tell you why I “should” love her speech, it sparked that enthusiasm again in me to do everything I can to get her elected. I truly thought I would be crying. Based on the way she words her emails, and some of the ways she emphasizes things I just know that she is trying to tell us not to give up. I recall reading not too long ago, that if Hillary could pay down her debt and show that she could draw the funds to continue her campaign, the supper delegates would be even more likely to back her up. I’m sure that is what she is saying in the memory book, her emails, when she emphasizes the need to take back our country with out saying it should be Nobama, etc. I think since I don’t have money to contribute, and am limited in so many other ways, I am going to try to blog, or write papers or what ever I can to try to help Nobama self-destruct. I love coming here and reading all of your comments, but I am allowing it to take up precious time that I could be using to further our cause. So, I have decided to get busy and check in when or if I start to feel discouraged or too distanced from the pact. Puma’s need other Puma’s to protect us from extinction. “United we stand. Divided we fall.”
Here’s one,

I’m not angry because Hillary lost. I just don’t want to regret that Nobama won !!!

Good Lord, Larry King is doing his whole show on the “body language”.
HBO said “America needs Bill and Hillary Clinton.” If this is true, what do we need HIM for?
He has alot of money behind him but we can’t be bought. And we certainly don’t need anymore of the hate spewing from the pro-Obama blogs.
FirebellePuma, your letter was so on the mark and I just want to thank you for putting it all so eloquently in perspective. It’s really NOT all about Hillary anymore. No matter what she says, I will NOT cast my vote for Obama.

#665 jdona on 06.27.08 at 10:13 pm

Ladyhawke, I think someone is using your name over at taylor marsh and blogging that they are “following Hillary Clintons request to support the Democratic Nominee”. I don’t remember which diary it was under, but I’m pretty sure it was your name, and I definitely remember the *61 being used to refer to Obama.

#666 jdona on 06.27.08 at 10:20 pm

Speaking of which, if anyone here has the stomach for it, we could use some posts defying the party unity thing. Taylor Marsh is “feeling the unity finally and loving it”. Its crowing with pro Obama who are anything but gracious in our “defeat”. I keep trying to tell them PUMA’s number more than their 4,000, according to Women for Fair Politics, we are at least 2.5 million and growing, but I’m not getting anywhere. Coming here is great, its like taking a refreshing shower and being clean again, but we can’t ignore the obamabutts on all the other blogs. We need to know what they are saying and be able to counter it. Its a nasty, nasty business. But we can’t operate in a vacuum either.

#667 shasta2001 on 06.27.08 at 10:21 pm

It seems like all of the *61 supporters believe that if they say it is so, it will be so. If they say there is unity, everyone will believe there is unity. If they say *61 has double digit leads in the polls, they will get others to jump on their bandwagon and increase his lead. So much manipulation is exhausting! Where do they find the time to think of all this “stuff (a classic *61 word)”

If the 18,000,000 people who voted for Hillary each gave $1.00, her debt would be pretty much paid off.

I agree! I will be contributing to help pay down her debt! She don’t need his blood money, she needs us. I also live in WA and would like to join the others here, I live in southeast WA near the Oregon border. I will keep on fighting for Hillary and try to help her to take it to the convention and a roll call. I can’t be there, except in spirit, but I’ll give what I got, both to Hillary and to PUMA. I’m sick of pleas from Howard Dean. I will never vote for BHO!

Does anyone know how long Hillary’s campaign office in Virginia will be receiving mail? Is it best to send thank you notes to her senate office or to the campaign office? I want to include a “ONE IN 18 MILLION” wristband. I’m concerned that the senate mail security might have problems.

I’m only giving money to McCain and to retire her debt.

WOW! I will have to catch up more tomorrow. Only got to post #105 here. I read the entire previous post about the rally. Ugh. It was almost more than I could stomach.

My take is this was for show, had to be done. I would like a body language expert to weigh in on the charade. It sounds like some signals were being given from both H & O. Interesting.

My other big thought is this. Putting Hillary out there on the same stage as O may just backfire on the big “unity” plan. The more people see them together, the more people have a chance to really compare them. We ALL know who will come out the winner in those comparisons! A silver lining, perhaps? Hillary will outshine him every time. Maybe this is just what we need to happen to make people wake up!?! I sure hope so.

Gotta get some sleep……fight on PUMAS!

Something crazy is happening to this blog on my computer. The whole format keeps changing when I refresh.
