Late Night Cat Chat

Let’s have a peaceful night. Riverdaughter reminds us that anger, though necessary and inevitable, must be harnessed and directed thoughtfully in order to prevent it from becoming destructive. We especially need to avoid the sometimes self-destructive outcomes born of anger and frustration. Yes, we are angry and we have cause to be. Yes, we are right and the DNC, the media, and the Obama Movement are wrong. But we have many days and nights and weeks of work ahead of us. Let’s not allow our impatience and frustration with a broken system, an indifferent and dismissive leadership, and an antagonistic media to force us down — down into discouragement, down into despair, or down into distrust of each other. We really are all in this TOGETHER, or all outside alone.

Be wonderful to each other.

Mayor0102

I guess we all need reminders about our tone periodically.

Thanks for nudging us on the previous thread. That’s part of what makes us different from many Obama supporters. We encourage each other to do the right thing and speak kindly.

That’s not to say that there aren’t a lot of good (albeit misguided) people supporting Obama too. But we sure see many of them encouraging impolite behavior.

#6 queen81 on 06.23.08 at 12:07 am

I’m here! Isn’t it fantastic that even at midnight i can still follow directions!

#7 StarDust on 06.23.08 at 12:08 am

Directions? What are those? I need a Garmin.

Went south on I-5 to Portland, OR this afternoon to the airport. Not one O bumpsticker yet!

Idea? Thought about renting a PUMA costume for the July 4th parade and handing out PUMA fliers. But someone might shoot me (they’d need a hunting license). I thought about asking to be placed inbetween the Democratic and Republican floats.

#11 bluesgal on 06.23.08 at 12:11 am

GOODNIGHT GOANDERSON!

I suppose I’m lucky in terms of bumper stickers…here in SC you still see W stickers, so not too many o stickers at all

T-SHIRTS————MUGS————T-SHIRTS

I want to let all the new members know that you can buy t-shirts and mugs on the PUMA PAC website. Just go back to home page and look for the PUMA Pac Gear link. There it will tell you the description of the shirts and mugs, t-shirt colors and prices for both. You can order by credit card, check or money order. If ordering thru the mail by check, send murphy an e-mail and she will give you the address.

Goodnight Dem4Hillary!

#31 Dem4Hillary on 06.23.08 at 12:37 am

But I’ll leave you with this thought, I watched President Clinton’s inagural speech tonight and in the first 5 minutes he was talking about the change that we needed in the country in 93 and he said paraphrased:
“but we cannot have change for only the sake of change”

#32 mayor0102 on 06.23.08 at 12:37 am

Bluesgal :-)

Sandipuma – Murphy? Emergency room? Said it wasn’t serious so we just have to trust that was the case. And remember, emergency rooms take forever.

#33 Barbara4Hill on 06.23.08 at 12:39 am

#10 Mayor0102

Even your remark can be taken wrongly. I think we should all get on track and stop the remarks that can be misunderstood.

#42 sandipuma on 06.23.08 at 12:48 am

Poor Murphy she works so hard at this. I sent her tons of pages. She must be exhausted now having to go to emergency.I pray everything is ok

#43 sandipuma on 06.23.08 at 12:49 am

I havn’t got one back

#44 sandipuma on 06.23.08 at 12:50 am

Thats why everyone needs to call their Local TV stations and get their interest in us.

#45 bluesgal on 06.23.08 at 12:51 am

I haven’t got any responces either. But , I have been on my computer so much, they probably couldn’t reach me. I have only got one line..

#46 sandipuma on 06.23.08 at 12:57 am

Oh well give us another week and everyone will know us. I’m going to a meeting saturday at 1:00 with locals for Hillary and we will discuss issues and they all want to go to Denver. I want to go too

#47 mayor0102 on 06.23.08 at 12:59 am

Bluesgal, My letter appeared yesterday, Saturday. The editor didn’t change a word. I was at a wedding reception yesterday and most of the newspaper staff was there. Not one word was said by any of them and I’d hoped that it wouldn’t be because of the type of event that we were all at. A superior court judge came by me and quietly said to me, “Quite a letter.” She smiled very positively. A couple of other women also noted the letter with a positive response. We’ll see what happens in the next week or so in the Letters to the Editor that reply to my letter. We can only submit one letter a month (the same person). Thanks for asking. I will get busy tomorrow with additional letters to all our SDs in the state. All are supporting O now.

#48 sandipuma on 06.23.08 at 12:59 am

same here i just have one line and my printer isn’t working. So my son said when he gets here he will get me a new one. Heck thats 5 months away lol

#49 sandipuma on 06.23.08 at 1:02 am

#50 bluesgal on 06.23.08 at 1:02 am

Mayor0102

Wow! I am glad they printed your letter. Sometimes it is hard to get one in there. It sounds like you are getting thru to people. Thats what we need.

#51 sandipuma on 06.23.08 at 1:04 am

a lot of the SD’s recieved payoffs to i’m sure

#52 bluesgal on 06.23.08 at 1:05 am

#48 Sandipuma

I bet you do miss your printer. Does your son live far away?

#53 mayor0102 on 06.23.08 at 1:09 am

Bluesgal,

I live in a small town (35,000). It’s not hard to get a letter submitted unless there is a huge event of some kind. I also am going to send a flier to all the Hillary donors in the area. Have about 20 names, but no addresses. So that’s a job too. The local library has a business directory (that most towns have) and I can usually find addresses in those books. These are just little things, but one person can make a difference as we all know. I’m off to finish the washing before bed so Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and purrs for me. As Barbara reminded me, I can also make remarks that can be misunderstood so I promise to work hard. Thanks, all PUMAs

#54 sandipuma on 06.23.08 at 1:09 am

well i guess i’ll go and rest my eyes. Good night all and see ya later.

#55 bluesgal on 06.23.08 at 1:09 am

Have you got your PUMA Pac t-shirt, already? I ordered some but haven’t got them yet. Murphy says it takes about two weeks.

#56 mayor0102 on 06.23.08 at 1:10 am

I’m expecting it any day now. It’s been not quite two weeks since I ordered.

You need to put your letter that you wrote to your hometown paper back on the blogs so everyone can see it. Some might of missed it.

#64 bluesgal on 06.23.08 at 1:27 am

Good night Witchy 1!

#65 ShortTermer on 06.23.08 at 1:44 am

I am hoping, I sent Larry Johnson the Obama is a Flip Flopper graphic I designed to go with our flip flop campaign. The first response was an automatic reply. The second response was from Larry and said. “thanks, [my name].

#66 Elaine on 06.23.08 at 2:07 am

I love the Riverdaughter blog tonight a lot. I was depressed and angry when i thought i was alone. Now, this is fun. Again, i say, every PUMA needs a break. Go rent a movie. Not just any movie; ‘Iron-Jawed angels’ or see on HBO Friday. or buy it from Amazon.com. The election of 1916 for the suffragists was so much like 2008 is — everyone saying the suffragists had to support the dems because the peace issue was so important. But being PUMAs, they didn’t. They said PUMA by holding up signs with quotes, like Susan B. Anthony saying she wouldn’t support any party that didn’t support women. and they had incredible .. and sometimes fun … actions. OK .. here’s an idea. How about posting signs that say; ‘Great Grandma and the suffragists wouldn’t support party unity in 1916 … so they got the vote by 1920′ .. maybe that photo of that Susan B. quote. Well, ok, the sign needs some work. But we can elevate our actions by pointing that all our foremother PUMAs in 1916 got suffrage ONLY by refusing unity with the Dems. no unity before suffrage. guess where they learned that .. in England — also the way women got the vote there. So go get that movie and laugh and cry and watch our great grandmas doing their version of PUMA. now 88 years later we are on the verge of getting our votes counted. so when they call us crazy and stupid for no party unity, we just say, ‘heck, we’re good girls doing what great grandma always taught. Don’t support any party that doesn’t support women. Grandma was always right.’zzzzz bed time.

#67 puma.sf1 on 06.23.08 at 2:21 am

G’night all. Greetings from Palm Springs. I’ll be leaving some flyers around town perhaps there are other pumas in the desert.

#68 Seattlegirl on 06.23.08 at 2:59 am

#10, Mayor0102: I like the puma suit in the July 4th parade. Especially being between the dems and republicans. Great idea. Humor is important. We don’t want to become those sort of people like Olberman on MSNBC. He always looks so pained, I can’t watch him and no one would ever want to join him in his cause.

#69 pumaindy on 06.23.08 at 5:15 am

I would like to say that I think that some of the ‘socializing’ here is appropriate. Personally, I like getting to know fellow PUMA members and I think that this is a valuable bonding activity. This type of bonding helps us to form a stronger organization; I am more likely to stand by a friend than I am by a distant acquaintance. Also, laughter is the best medicine in dark times.

phantom joel – I can understand that you are anxious for action. You have had may posts telling you what you can do to get your ideas heard and acted upon.

I would like to point out that not all of us are able to participate in the same way or to the same degree. We are not all the same – we are a diverse group and each of us has different talents and different restrictions and limitations on time, resources, etc. I would ask for some tolerance from you on this point.

#70 pumaindy on 06.23.08 at 5:41 am

Are ideas for cartoons still being solicited?

If so, where would we post our ideas?

Hey guys,

I just found this article on NYTimes website. It looks like HBO is working with ethanol special interest companies too. Isn’t that something? Here’s the link:

#73 anonymous on 06.23.08 at 6:26 am

I am falling asleep and can’t type. Can somebody pleas send this link about HBO passing out signs to his supporters behind him. I sent it to every show on Fox except Hannity and Colmes and On the Record. Here’s the link:

Thank you

Does anybody have an email address for Donna Brazile? I tried to send her a link the the BO storm blog, asking her to stop the hate, but the email came back from info@brazileassociates. Any others?

#75 anonymous on 06.23.08 at 6:39 am

Guys,

There must be something wrong with my email. I didn’t get the confirmation from anybody who I sent this video. What should I do? I sent it to Situation room and Cafferty, and all of the Fox news programs except Hannity and Colmes and Greta.

Thank you

Happy Monday Pumas,

Murphy-thank you for your kind words the other day.

It appears that NoName has changed his mind again. Instead of sticking to his 18 state strategy, he is now flooding all 50, partly for new voters, and partly for new donors. I believe the article says he plans to spend a total of $300 million. Wow, wouldn’t that feed a lot of folks. I found this on Fox:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25306929/

I plan to work on emails/letters to Minnesota and Wisconsin this week. I have only sent to the state Dem party, but will add the state Repub party as well. It can’t hurt to include them.

Have a good Monday — the start of another great week!

LETTER TO HILLARY FROM US

Spent a good deal of time faxing the Letter to Hillary from us. I faxed it to her 9 New York Senate offices and to her main Senate Office in Washington DC. i also emailed it to her at her senate office.

I noted that there was a disclaimer of sorts on her website that said snail mail takes a long long time to get through, especially if there are items in packages, so maybe she will acknowledge she has received her $1 bills – or she has not received them if they are tied up in the security scanning system.

Morning ACTION Post up — Today is Flip-Flop Action Monday!

Take it upstairs!

#86 Mary Beth613 on 06.23.08 at 2:56 pm

Utah Puma, yeah wouldn’t that 300 million feed a lot of starving families right here in “good ole USA”!! Talk about arrogance and wasteful management of 300 million..it breaks my heart that this country allows him to get away with it!!
That’s not what I got on hear to say, but as usual, I read something, and it gets by blood boiling.
What I wanted to say is that , I wish I could stay up long enough to chat and have a cocktail with the rest of you on late night . You do seem to enjoy yourselves!
